Whenever Gold has to leave his workshop for business that can't be conducted via drones or in the comfort of his own home, he usually just throws on a cloak.

His "business deal" stuff usually involves him scuttling to the shadiest parts of Earthbread and either making bank or making an example of an ex-customer. Which is why his physical appearances are few and far in-between. So, he tends to put on, say... a "show" for when he does bother to leave home and why there are so many crazy rumors about him.

Yeah, Gold doesn't like leaving his workshop or places of work if he can help it...

I was passing through a neighboring town and seeing the lush, green rolling hills and the blushing blueberry fields and the pale green lichens and fern after fern and while my first thought was my god, what a place to live!, my second thought was how many other animals on this earth look around at their habitat and think the very same, and how sweet that is. my old dog used to sit halfway down our hill and close her eyes. she was listening to the wind pass through, the stream go by, the seasons come in and go out without a sound. I’ll bet the birds and the crickets and the caterpillars do the very same.

this evening i went out to explore a wetland that's been flooded all winter and discovered it's still very flooded but also BEAUTIFUL. the "rivers" in those first and third pictures are actually walking trails.

my time in kindergarten has cursed me with the knowledge that kyle is def the tiny 'erm, actually!' kid in big ass fishbowl glasses who tries to answer questions that i haven't even finished asking yet, is reading books at third grade reading level like 6 y/o megamind, all of which is Great except that little fkn einstein is constantly TRYING ME by attempting to undermine my authority by staging a literal Coup in my class over who should clean up the magnetiles and ‘start shit’ aka intense philosophical debates abt BLUEY during Quiet Time.

and conversely, stan is the kid who almost gets hit by a car during pick up trying to pick a fkn ROLLYPOLY out of the gd street, needs to be told 25/8 to stop playing in the planters/stop building complex worm terrariums out of sticks and mud everyday at recess, cries anytime i have to raise my voice above a whisper, is super adhd, gets extremely overstimulated by EVERYTHING, blurts Constantly abt things he did over the weekend and drew a...Very Frightening ‘my family portrait’ of his dad yelling, mom crying, sister in devil horns and him frowning...

It's not just me that thinks they might find Murderbot's presence soothing and relaxing, right? From the way Dr. Mensah describes what it's like to be in the same room with it, I feel like Murderbot is so cat-coded. it sits quietly, looking into a corner, and only looks directly at people's faces when it really needs information (like, when I lie or have been through a traumatic event). It radiates heat at will, and offers hugs, which it hates, which is so nice, and more importantly, without lying about how much it hates it. And Murderbot is witty, in a nice way.

.... I am starting to get nervous about saying all this, because I suspect that Murderbot would find it very eye rollingly dumb that the little tiny human with the very bad eyesight and no upper body strength (that's me, btw) said that the Murderbot with the built-in arm-guns was relaxing to be around.

When I read it, I thought of the definition of lean as being eg OED

3. Of flesh: Containing little or no fat (as distinguished from muscular tissue)

or Merriam-Webster

b : containing little or no fat

Though, admittedly, on reflection these are perhaps definitions more associated with meat which is intended for consumption than with flesh on a person?

But, to me, the description conjures up the concept of a solid muscular frame, but one which is spare or rangy? Muscular but without fat…
