ITS DIRTY WORK APPRECIATION TIME. so many people hate this album because it’s silly goofy and they had fun and it’s not serious. like, shut up, it’s 2023, please let’s stop shitting on dirty work already. for that matter, let’s stop shitting on last young renegade too. god, people hate a band that has fun.
like, I guess sure, it’s not quote unquote “good music” and there’s a lot of stylistic changes that happened between the nothing personal era and this era and some songs might not be as musically GREAT as you WANT them to be, but like, it is SO clear throughout the entire album that these boys LITERALLY just want to vibe. they are sooo not here to be serious. I heard someone say once that I Feel Like Dancin’ was the worst video all time low has ever made besides poppin champagne and I was absolutely floored. what? people hate the I feel like dancin video?,?,,??? WHAT??
it’s funny it’s stupid it’s goofy it makes fun of the label and the industry and sure it doesn’t do that in the most mature way but it’s so funny and I always watch it to make myself feel better because it makes me laugh. It’s cringey but it’s good, and I think that can be said about a lot of ATL content. if you don’t like having fun why are you here. and honestly that’s a lot of the songs- I Feel Like Dancin, That Girl and Bad Enough For You are my go-tos when I feel bad because they’re so stupid it’s funny and that helps me feel better. like, some of the lyrics are just ridiculous, it’s great. that’s not even it though, because it’s not like dirty work isn’t serious at times, there are some REALLY good songs musically, too. like, whenever I see people shittig on dirty work I have to remind them: time bomb. under a paper moon. return the favor. guts. actually, guts was my favorite song for a really long time. for every silly song there’s another one that’s just as stylistically impressive as it is keeping on the all time low brand, which is, essentially, Have Fun Make Dick Jokes Be Goofy. they are Not a serious band. the thing about all time low is that they like to have fun and they have since the beginning so why shit on them for doing what they’ve been doing but more apparent. stop it. appreciate dirty work because it may not be a “masterpiece” but it’s damn good and I love it very much.

The last time I saw Bruce Foxton was for the anniversary of Sound Affects and they didn't do But I'm Different Now or Scrape Away, so it was a very pleasant surprise that this All Mod Cons anniversary tour saw them open with the entire album, even Fly which I really didn't expect them to play. They sound bloody great as ever, a little slower than last time round but they're all getting older so that's understandable, they make up for it in sound quality and sheer bloody volume - my ears are still ringing two hours later, and I wore my earplugs for the whole set, at least until the break in Eton Rifles when a drunken arm knocked one of them out.
Also surprisingly they played one of their new original numbers, a decent enough track called Luna that frankly sounds like Paul Weller, and I must be out of the loop 'cause I didn't even know they'd put new material out. Did a full band loud electric punk rendition of That's Entertainment too, which I know sounds like a questionable choice considering the soft melancholy atmosphere is such a key part of the original but in a moshpit that's already riled up it honestly worked damn well, the song itself is such a masterpiece that it more than managed the change in energy, turning from a heartwrenching lament to a blistering rallying cry.
It's been a long time since that summer when I listened to no other band for months on end, my musical taste is so much vaster and deeper than when I was 18, but those songs still hit me like no other because they set me on this whole path, they're such a formative part of who I am now, and I've seen many fantastic sets from iconic bands but there's still something deeply special to me about seeing that music played live in front of me by the genius bassist who made them.

hiiii today's reminder is i listened to beatbox (the album not just the song I'm not a sociopath) today and honestly. it's a shame that dream's title tracks are the worst songs in the album. this isn't always the case, i mean hello future and mfal but those might be the only exceptions. and i know they're super popular now and a lots more people are listening to the entire albums but it's just SUCH a shame. like wayv gets good title tracks that you'll love instantly and great b sides. 127 gets… let's call them attention-grabbing title tracks that grow on you and great b sides. dream gets the worst of both, just sorta mediocre title tracks that you don't immediately fall in love with in the first listen but also you're not particularly liking them more as you listen to them more. candy had the nostalgia element, but their last few title tracks just haven't stood out to me musically and it's a damn shame, for the quality of their b sides. like better than gold is still a solid favourite of mine. irreplaceable, walk you home, 123. hell all of the b sides off hot sauce and glitch mode are SO good. just… what a shame
Hii, You know what I have only listened istj once then never again, it's not bad it's just not really second listenable. Beatbox definitely was an against my will kind of song. I only intentionally listened to it like twice. But I did really like Glitch mode like it's a vibe definitely was replayed. I also did really like Hot Sauce and Hello future. But I think the last dream title track I loved loved was Ridin, oh damn that was a while ago. But Ridin is definitely one of my favorite dream title track. Wayv definitely wins the lottery with title tracks cause they have never disappointed. SM drops the ball alot with Wayv but their songs are always a masterpiece. 127, there's only been like two missed for me that's 2baddies and Superhuman. I know a lot of people like superhuman and its wild it's beside 2baddies. To be fair 2baddies only loses me at the chorus. But I actually dislike superhuman more than 2baddies I know I know. But I'm actually upset that's the song they promoted in the US. It didn't sound like 127. It sounded like supershineexo and I just couldn't vibe with it. I like NCTs unique sound cause it's still versatile but very them. Like favorite I like it I don't love it cause to me it sounds similar to exo. Like Fact Check just from the chorus oh That's 127. I think dream feels like they have an idea of their sound but is still figuring the details. Wayv pretty much has a specific sound, and 127 has there's. Dream the structure is there but it's not solid they still have to find their exact sound. Their concept was figured out but as they grow up that concept has to as well. I don't think anyone wants to see 25 to 28 year old men singing wheels on the bus. 21 to 24 is already too far.
Also I just saw a commercial for the movie Priscilla, and I didn't feel any need to watch the Elvis movie but this one actually looks really good and I'd rather see Priscilla's point a view. On the podcast Just Trish with Trisha Paytas when she said I don't care about men's stories I felt that. I don't like movies with male leads all my favorite movies are female led like Clueless, Mean Girls, Legally Blonde, Sabrina the teenage witch , oh I love sex and the city. I just prefer female driven movies and shows. I literally only watch modern family for Gloria, Lily, Alex and Hayley. Oh also Cam. Love Cam. The exception is Will & Grace but I'm really just there for Grace, Karen and Jack. Sorry that was random but that thought happened while I was replying to your ask.

Rush - initial thoughts
Rush dropped at 2 a.m. here and I def couldn't afford to listen to it when it came out, I needed to sleep. But at 3.30 or so I had a nightmare and I woke up. Since I couldn't go back to sleep immediately, I decided to listen to one new song from Rush, to see how the album is like. And one song turned into all seventeen, because this album is that good! Here are my initial ratings:
1. Own my mind -10/10 What a way to start the album! A banger! Probably in my top 5 (although this is so hard to figure out, there are a lot of choices!)
2. Gossip - 9/10 Gets a lot of points for the lyrics, but as fun as it is, it kinda pales in comparasion to other songs. Mostly because this album is banger after banger.
3. Timezone -10/10 Best ballad on the album, hands down. Honestly, this should have been the single instead of The Loneliest. It's honest, raw and gets stuck in your head.
4. Bla Bla Bla - 7/10. The intial spoiler made me think that would be a skip, but nope, it's actually pretty fun. Also, I saw its storyline and I have to say, I love that they are creating this fictional characters and writing from their perspective. (And not to overshare, but in this particular case, I feel like I knew some people that probably think like this narrator.) They still have a long way to go before these fictional characters are well-rounded, but everyone needs to start somewhere. I love how the music serves the lyrics, so I understand why it gets so repetitive, but yeah, it's still grating.
5. Baby Said - 10/10 SINGLE, SINGLE, SINGLE! I am gonna say it over and over again, until the universe makes it happen. As soon as the song ended, I felt the need to listent to it again! Def a top 3 for me! Oh, and of course, I almost forgot to mention how much I love the theme, and rn in this moment of my life, I kimda can't relate. (Which is a bit painful, yup)
6. Gasoline - 10/10 I waited a long time for the studio version, and it didn't disappoint! Is this my favorite of the entire album? Maybe, I don't know! But it's up there.
7. Feel -9/10 Mindless fun and I love it!
8. Don't wanna sleep - 10/10 A banger, and very relatable! What more can you want?
9. Kool Kids - 3/10 .....What the hell is this?! My one skip on this album, apparently. Honestly, if I it wasn't for the live versions -and I can't say I am fond of thos either- it would have an even lower score. You know how all these people were afraid Rush would all sound like Supermodel. Yeah, that was me with Kool Kids when it was first played live. And somehow this version is ten times worse.
10. If not for you - 7/10. The second half is overall the weaker half, and this ballad kinda sets the tone for it. It's not bad at all, it's just kinda forgettable.
11. Read your diary -9/10 Again, love that they write from a fictional character's persepctive. Better than Bla Bla Bla, but it still needs to be a bit...more.
12. Mark Chapman -10/10 When I listened to it in the middle of the night -without paying attention to the lyrics because my Italian is not that good when I am sleepy- I thought it was a great earworm of a melody. Then I put it again in the morning, planning to pay attention to the lyrics, but forgot to because the melody is that great! Then, as a last resort, I muted the video and read the lyrics. Thankfully my language skills were good enough to pick up almost everything and let me tell you, I got chills. I had planned to read the English translation after, in case I missed anything, but I couldn't! Because this song paints a very chilling and scary picture! Damn! The true masterpiece IMO.
13. La fine - 10/10 I mean, I knew this before, so I knew what I was getting aka Italian rock perfection.
14. Il dono della vita -7/10 Look, I love Italian too, but this is not the strongest ballad here! Damiano's vocals are beautiful and I like -not love- the instrumental, but they don't marry well together! (Pun intended xDD) I had to look up the lyrics because my Italian may have gotten better, but it's not that good, and idk if it's google translate or what, but even lyrically, this one doesn't feel as raw and interesting as say, Timezone. I know a lot of people love it because it sounds like Teatro D'Ira -and the band confirmed it was written for it - but to me it sounds like a TDI reject. Like they put it here to reach some quota of Italian songs.
15. Mammamia -10/10 I mean, at this point, this is iconic, so is there anything more to say about it?
16. Supermodel -8/10 I did say that the second side is the weakest -not overly so, but still- one, and sadly that's the side of the singles. And as much as I like Supermodel, it pales in comparasion to other songs here. Still, it's fun.
17. The Loneliest - 8/10 When it came out, the song left me cold. I mean, I loved that the band was experimenting, but for me it was meh. In the midtime, the song definitely grew on me. I wasn't sure if I should give it a 8 or 9, but it loses points for being the album closer. I mean, for me, it doesn't really feel like a closer at all. Idk how I would have ended the album, there don't seem to be any good choices available, but this one feels like a really ??? choice.
Overall score: 8,64

west coast vibes let's see let's see
honestly so much of lana's stuff gives that vibe ugh i love her so bad. the entire ultraviolence album is literally just west coast in different fonts. outside of that album i also love diet mountain dew, doin' time, national anthem, and high by the beach
like.....west coast at the end of the day is rly just a sexy slutty little song. so i'm just pulling these from my sexy slutty playlist. the vibes could be way way off to anyone that is not me fgfgfjhjk im sorry in advance
for some reason freaking out on the interstate by briston maroney gives me that vibe??? prob just bc of the guitars
love is blindness by jack white is sexy as FUCK
do i wanna know by arctic monkeys obviously
so damn into you by vlad holiday
she by harry styles (don't boo me im right)
honestly.....gibson girl by ethel cain. the last two minutes of this song holy fucking god. headphones all the way up. eardrums rupturing. ascending.
talk by hozier is a bit of a stretch but those slutty little guitar riffs give me west coast vibes
ooooo and if we're talking slutty guitars then alrighty aphrodite by peach pit
list of people (to try and forget about) by tame impala
sweet dreams, tn by the last shadow puppets
come here by dominic fike
and okay hear me out on this last one. part of the reason i love west coast so much is that it has one of the best "last minute" breakdowns ever. i ascend to the sky when that weird little synth starts going off in the final chorus. like oh my god. i love a song with a last minute breakdown and 'as you are' by the weeknd has one of my favorite endings EVER. from the three minute mark on it's an absolute masterpiece. he pulled themes from other songs on the album into that last like 45 seconds and oh my god. listen w headphones turned up real loud trust me it's an experience.

What's your favorite song from midnights atm? What's your opinion on Snow on the beach?😭
Midnights is a masterpiece 😭😭✨✨💖💖
I'm thinking my favorite is Karma!! Honestly I think the ones with a bit harder of a beat are standing out to me, but I'm obsessed with this entire album!! Vigilante Sh*t is so damn hot. Bejeweled has my heart. I am heavily vibing with Midnight Rain. Anti-Hero is so real. I can't choose a favorite for certain 😭!!
Looooove Snow On The Beach!! It's beautiful. I'm yearning for love. I've never been in a relationship, but if it feels like that song sounds, I need it. Lana's vocals are a lovely addition. I think her voice melds well with Taylor's!
Midnights is definitely a masterpiece! I'm on my third listen of the night, and I will have this on repeat indefinitely.

well, even though literally no one asked, am i going to do a whole analysis on how the red album is also lowkey about tcw? sure. sh, let me indulge 12/13 year old me.
state of grace:
our wonderful opening track. the lyrics “just twin fire signs / four blue eyes”—from this line alone, i think a lot about anakin and ahsoka and obi-wan, just because what color are their eyes? blue. check and mate.
but on a more serious level: “and i never saw you coming / and i’ll never be the same” speaks to how each of these characters’ lives were interrupted by the presence of the other. obi-wan certainly didn’t expect anakin to come into his life, and i doubted anakin ever expected ahsoka to come into his life.
“love is a ruthless game unless you play it good and right” and “these are the hands of fate / you’re my Achilles heel” speaks to how this whole theme of love and how both raw and burning and ruthless love can shine in this specific universe. specifically anakin’s kind of love. additionally, the idea of Achilles heel...i’ve already discussed the parallels between Achilles and anakin and don’t feel like rehashing, but it’s def. worth noting.
“this is the golden age of something good and right and real”...golden age. the war was messy and terrible and shouldn’t have ever happened, but also, i think for that brief moment, disaster lineage was at least together.
red
look me in the eye and lie to me about how this song doesn’t sum up the exhilarating rush that must have been being around someone like anakin skywalker.
“losing him was blue like i’ve ever known / missing him was dark grey all alone / forgetting him was like trying to know somebody you never met / but loving him was red”: this entire refrain is about that kind of ruthless, very fiery-seeing-red-everywhere kind of sensation that comes with love. (or, as the song alludes, a kind of dangerous love.)
and if we’re talking about dangerous kind of love—“fighting with him was like trying to solve a crossword and realizing there’s no right answer / regretting him was like wishing you never found out love could be that strong”...thinking thoughts about how there must have been all these times for the people around anakin to clash heads. bro. what even is that.
“remembering him comes in flashbacks, in echoes / told myself it’s time now, gotta let go”. ha ha. you ever think about the people who live after order 66 and wonder what the hell happened to the person they loved. ha.
treacherous
alright, time to put on the anidala hat. this song is supposed to be all about loving someone and constantly feeling like you’re sliding down a slippery slope. a treacherous path—a reckless path—and yet, and yet, “i like it”.
the whole concept of these two being put in a whirlwind romance matches perfectly with these lyrics: “i can’t decide if it’s a choice / getting swept away / i hear the sound of my own voice / asking you to stay”. this mess of a relationship that probably shouldn’t have happened, but it happened, and now the only choice for these two is to hold on...bro.
i knew you were trouble.
ohhhh god, do i need to explain how this is an anidala song or—
“i was in your sights / you got me alone / you found me”,,,the fact that anakin skywalker really looked at padmé amidala after ten years and automatically went “i love her”. a part of me will always sigh and want to pat anakin’s head that please, please, please control yourself, but what am i supposed to do anyways—
but also, the way this song also addresses all the dangerous things that come with a love that probably shouldn’t have started / shouldn’t have been born with so many secrets. the damning / basically self-loathing lyrics like “the joke is on me” and “shame on me now” is honestly kind of sad, and while i don’t think padmé ever regretted loving anakin (and i’ve covered this so many times, but i think anakin and padmé genuinely loved each other), there was def. a sense of constant danger and fear that one day, all the secrets will come tumbling out / something’s going to happen. and all that ultimately bubbles over in revenge of the sith, right when padmé looks at anakin and just doesn’t see him anymore.
all too well
tbh, this song deserves a whole long post on its own, but i’ll try to be concise. i genuinely think this could be about any of the tcw characters / tcw pairings, but because it’s my post and my obsession, i’ll discuss the disaster lineage. there’s something so quietly sad about the line “but you still got [my scarf] in your drawer, even now” and how that speaks to how obi-wan has anakin’s lightsaber / how anakin has ahsoka’s lightsaber both as himself and as ahsoka after ahsoka left the order / after order 66. the fact that you still have a piece of someone you love(d), long after they’re gone...
the fact that this song is so full of memories and longing and aching and grief over a loved relationship. thinking about the lyrics “you tell me about your past, thinking your future was me” is especially sad because while i don’t think anakin was ever completely open about his childhood / past, i like to think he must have told some stories to obi-wan and padmé and ahsoka about happier moments—and you have to wonder what kind of future anakin saw for himself with his loved ones.
“maybe this thing was a masterpiece until you tore it all up” speaks to how for a rare, rare moment, we see anakin skywalker as the hero we’re all supposed to like—and we see how it all crumbles apart so fast.
“but you keep my old scarf from that very first week / because it reminds you of innocence and it smells like me” hits especially hard when you think about how vader still has ahsoka’s lightsabers, or the fact that everything goes “back to when i loved you so / back before you lost the one real thing you’ve ever known”...thinking. a lot about anakin and how the love he felt / received from his friends were real, realer than anything that palpacreep could ever give him. it was all real, and now they’re all memories.
22
okay, this is just a fun song so i can’t really apply it anywhere, but i like to think there must have been a birthday somewhere along the line / some kind of happy event where there’s some chaotic tcw fam shenanigans. ditching the whole scene and “end[ing] up dreaming instead of sleeping”...i like to think they must have had some kind of happy moment like that.
i almost do
this song honestly reminds me the most of anakin and ahsoka. do you ever think that ahsoka might have wanted to reach out to anakin at some point? how “it takes everything in me not to call you”—how she might wish that she could talk to him again but every time she doesn’t, she almost does. (and ha. this makes their S7 reunion even more painful.)
the whole “i bet you think i either moved on or hate you” and “i bet it never ever occurred to you that i can’t say hello to you and risk another goodbye” speaks mostly to that very same reunion. the fact that ahsoka and anakin leave so many things unsaid—the fact that ahsoka restrains herself, cites that reason for the fact that they’ll just catch up another time...when that another time never happens.
we are never ever getting back together
hahaa, i can’t quite laugh about this but also i can because i kinda made a crack edit of disaster lineage + this song over the summer, and it really is just a joke but also...lol vader + ahsoka + obi-wan, but more specifically ahsoka and vader in their reunion in rebels lol. they’re never getting back together, geddit? they “used to think [they] were forever” and “[sigh] he calls me up again and is like i still love you and like,,,this is exhausting, you know?” yeah, me too sis. 🙄
stay stay stay
okay, okay, okay, maybe going a little bit into crack-y happy tcw feelings, but all i’m saying is that i love the image of these dorks staying for each other, you know? the whole “you took the time to memorize me” and “all those times that you didn’t leave / it’s been occurring to me i’d like to hang out with you for my whole life” and “no one else is gonna love me when i get mad” makes me kinda soft but also sad knowing that one of the tragedies of tcw fam is that no one really stays.
the last time
highkey the whole clovis arc in season 6. but anyways, especially the lines about “this is the last time i’m asking you this / put my name at the top of your list” speaks a lot to me about this hunger (yeah, this is @ anakin) to be someone’s first choice. it’s about the anger and jealousy and dull pain of knowing that everyone else’s priorities are elsewhere (and that’s not their fault, but you still feel like it is).
but if we’re thinking about the clovis arc especially, i think a whole lot about anakin + padmé, as well as anakin and obi-wan, esp. in these lyrics: “you wear your best apology / but i was there to watch you leave” and “all those times i let you in / just for you to go again”. we know anakin and padmé were...going through it in this arc, but specially anakin and obi-wan’s conversation—the one where obi-wan’s trying to reach anakin? we see obi-wan briefly open up (ie. about satine!) and anakin quickly shuts it down, and when obi-wan leaves, we see the pain on both of their faces because this wasn’t how the conversation was supposed to go.
but also, if we’re circling back to anakin and padmé’s relationship in this arc especially: the really, really painful lyrics about “this is the last time you tell me i’ve got it wrong” and “this is the last time i say it’s been you all along” and “this is the last time i let you in my door” and “this is the last time / i won’t hurt you anymore”...this arc truly explores just how deep the hurt can run when you have a secret relationship. how quickly love can blur into possession and jealousy and anger, and we see that in how anakin and padmé just...both crumble apart, especially in that one bit when padmé basically says she doesn’t want to see anakin for a little while. like. idk. it’s just sad, because this arc really showed just all the issues and problems within a relationship built on lies.
holy ground
oh god, what a fun song. but anyways, just to kick things off: “and darling, it was good / never looking down / and right there where we stood / was holy ground” speaks to a relationship that was good, even if it was wild and brief. which. disaster lineage.
the whole “i guess we fall apart in the usual way / and the story’s got dust on every page” and “i see your face in every crowd” vibe too—these idiots miss each other, and they probably see each other where they’re not supposed to. there was nothing unusual about their falling apart, of course, but something about this song compels me to think about how even in the grief and pain that ultimately drags ahsoka and obi-wan down especially, i think they still are fond of their happier memories with anakin.
also, “tonight i’m gonna dance for all we’ve been through” and “but i don’t wanna dance if i’m not dancing you” makes me a little sad because i think a lot about the fall of the empire and how the whole galaxy is out celebrating, but there’s a certain togruta woman who can’t completely celebrate because now she knows that. her whole family. really is gone.
sad beautiful tragic
this whole song is so tragic, but. anyways. more tragic disaster lineage vibes. the words “words, how little they mean / when you’re a little too late” makes me want to scream because i think a lot about how in rebels, ahsoka tells vader that she won’t leave him—not this time—and obi-wan crying that he loved anakin—the real tragedy here is that these were all words that anakin should have known deep down, but he didn’t, and they all felt late. their timing is terrible.
and “in dreams, i meet you in warm conversation” screams to me this one passage about how obi-wan dreams about anakin, although those dreams are anything but warm. but the idea of how obi-wan still dreams and how “time is taking its sweet time erasing you”—because in the kenobi novel especially, obi-wan explicitly struggles...a lot with anakin’s loss. he definitely gets...sad and tries to remember how the hell it all happened. he keeps pulling out anakin’s lightsaber and just. forcibly puts it away because he knows looking at it would cause just more grief and oh yikes.
the lucky one
ngl i forgot how fuckign good this song is,,,bro. anyways, i think this def. speaks to the og prequel trilogy trio especially, because i think they were all seriously going through with the whole...reputation thing. thinking mostly about how anakin, padmé, and obi-wan are all supposed to be these heroic / cool / beautiful figures who everyone’s supposed to look up to when in reality, they were all struggling with something. also lol the fact that obi-wan and anakin were both propped up as war propaganda figures in-universe because of palpacreep def. speaks to that whole “they’ll tell you now you’re the lucky one”.
and “they tell you that you’re lucky / but you’re so confused because you don’t feel pretty, you just feel used” and “you wonder if you’ll make it out alive” hurts the most, i think, just because how they apply to all those in prequel trilogy. anakin, obi-wan, and padmé—not to mention all the other jedi and the clones, oh god, the clones—were all fighting a war that ultimately didn’t matter, and they were all fighting a war that didn’t leave them as heroes. it just left them as pawns.
but i think if there’s any hope—any hope at all in this song, i think it’s in the last lyrics: “and they still tell the legend of how you disappeared / how you took the money and your dignity and got the hell out” reminds me the most of probably ahsoka and rex, or the people who survived the mess that was the clone wars. granted, rex didn’t exactly have the choice that ahsoka had, because she was the one who really made the big decision to look around herself and say “nope, i can’t be a part of this order”. she got the hell out.
everything has changed
hear me out, but i just think this makes for a cute anakin and ahsoka song, esp. their very cute beginnings. just like. as soon as they meet each other, both of them are ultimately changed. the fact that ahsoka has been noted to be the key to understanding who anakin is—the fact that it’s ahsoka’s relationship / interactions with anakin that ultimately makes him a better person because they’re siblings, your honor—yeah. very much the cute “all i know is we said hello”...the lyrics going on about “i just wanna know you better” and “your eyes look like coming home” makes me soft because. i think that while yes, they had their own rocky beginning, the difference between anakin and ahsoka’s relationship vs. anakin and obi-wan’s (rip i love anakin and obi-wan and i genuinely believe that obi-wan was the best teacher for anakin, and i think their bond is incredibly special, but.......boys please communicate better) is that i think anakin makes a really explicit effort to make sure ahsoka knows that like. he wants her around.
idk—i’m not saying obi-wan didn’t want anakin around! but i think one of the greatest tragedies of their relationship is that anakin always seemed to just. not click with obi-wan’s own demonstrations of love / i want you to be here messages. (the gambit duology goes a little more into this—only in those books, anakin and obi-wan actually talk a little about their feelings! which is nice!) but anyways, point being: anakin and ahsoka really looked at each other and were like “oh yeah. you’re my idiot now.” and i think that’s really cool of them.
starlight
oh god, this is kind of an anidala song but i also am tempted to say obitine song just because of that one line about “pretending to be a duchess and a prince” because,,,lol duchess geddit? and overall just think it’s really cute because. summer love!!!
but also, i do see this as an anidala song because “he was trying to skip rocks on the ocean, saying to me / don’t you dream impossible things?” because i see anakin as most certainly that dreamy-eyed boy who looks at padmé and is just. like that. (and we see a whole ton of that, esp. in aotc and how padmé initially is like “this is a terrible idea” and eventually winds up falling in love anyways, as one does.)
begin again
this song is odd because it doesn’t really give me overwhelming star wars feelings, but it does remind me a little bit of how ahsoka must have felt getting with the rebels crew. because i think ahsoka must have “watched it begin again” when she noted kanan and ezra’s interactions with each other, and i feel like when she’s with ezra, she sees a lot of the young padawan she used to be, and i think there must have been a point where she recognizes that “what’s past is past”. she’s watching everything begin again.
the moment i knew
this is another one of those songs that makes me sad about anidala because it seems like they’re always getting interrupted? the idea of being told that someone’s going to show but it might not happen because life (ie. war! there’s a war!),,,and still not being able to be really that sad about it in public makes me sad. just. i’m reminded of this one moment in tcw where anakin has to leave early because of something and just. the lyrics “what do you do when the one who means the most to you is the one who didn’t show”—like, of course, we see anakin sneaking off, but i def. think in that one tcw episode, we get a glimpse of. how lonely life might be if you’re just. waiting for someone to come home, only to realize that they might not show.
come back...be here
ha....hahahahaa weirdly both anakin and ahsoka and obitine feelings? give me a second.
okay, so as for anakin and ahsoka first: “i can’t help but wish you took me with you” hits hard just because of the time anakin tells ahsoka that he knows what it feels like to want to leave the order. just. oh god.
and then there’s this bit of “this is when the feeling sinks in / i don’t wanna miss you like this” hits hard, esp. considering the whole utapau arc where anakin accidentally slips in ahsoka’s name. he misses her, and i don’t think he really wanted to show that—but it sinks in so hard and fast for him, and it hurts so much oh god
also, the “right when i was just about to fall”: i know that in this context, fall is supposed to mean falling in love, but. the fact that anakin is literally about to fall like,,,a few days after his reunion with ahsoka. i cry now!
as for obitine: ahahahaha. pain, esp. considering how they probably separated after their year on the run? thinking about how that goodbye must have been like—mostly thinking about how there’s so much history between the two. how strange it is that they “didn’t know each other at all”, and how they might have had “the feeling they could know so much without knowing anything at all”, and now i think about how both of them could have “stumbled through the long goodbye”. i think a lot about those years of separation and how satine confesses how she had been in love with obi-wan for a long time—and how that in itself...wondering how or when satine knew for certain that she had fallen in love with the young jedi who came to her aid. thinking about how her “falling in love in the cruelest way” is how that whole falling in love—and realizing just how in love she was—is so cruel, because like. you know. when you’ve been in love / are loving someone for like...ten years....that’s kinda intense ngl
girl at home
lol this song doesn’t really fit with anything star wars related because i don’t think anyone in tcw would actually cheat on their loved ones? still 100000/10 a bop of a song though, and i still think it’s one of swift’s more mature songs, 10000/10 recommend.

my official ranking of Love and Lies:
1. Control - this song is just pure sex. the melody is so fun and the lyrics are spicy. gets better every time you listen to it.
2. I Can't Get By - I think this is definitely his best style of music. his voice is heavenly and that second verse hits so damn hard.
3. Nobody Else - I just love how cute this one is. the chorus is so fun and catchy and the romance of the whole song is just wonderful. this is the song you blast in the car with your girlies.
4. Pray For Me - my friend and I did a full listen of the album together and we both strongly agree that they should have put this on the regular album and that it has extremely strong radio potential. the genre is pretty mainstream but it is high quality music. the melody is super catchy and the beat is amazing. the lyrics fit the song very well. I wish he put this on the regular album because it doesn't deserve to be reduced to target lol.
5. Satisfy You - ugh I love everything about this. there's a sprinkling of spicyness but it's so inherently sweet and I love it so much. great melody and soooo catchy. the piano at the end is such a great touch. also it's wonderful to know that Jas is getting it every day and she deserves it. rich woman kink is A++++.
6. Lose My Mind - BANGER. the late late show performance really solidified it. vocals are superior. serious party music. it will forever be Naked song to me.
7. In The Night - I can't get over the first verse. he sounds SO DAMN GOOD!!! it's mainstream pop but it's a good quality bop.
8. Right Now - crying in the club never felt so good. the pre-chorus and bridge are bangers by themselves honestly.
9. Love and Lies - this was my friend's first time listening to the album and she was mesmerized from the intro all the way to the last beat. this is so catchy and he sounds amazing (without the autotune tho).
10. Blessings - this is some serious party music. I really have nothing else to say besides this is so much fun and I can't wait to dance to this with my friends. if your ass is still, fix that immediately.
11. Échale - he makes quality bops. he also makes stellar second verses. the pre-chorus is absolutely fantastic and the whole vibe of this song is freaky and crazy and just so much fun.
12. Foreign - the chorus is catchy and the melody is fun. it's good to know that Ant and I agree that Jas got that body-ody-ody but I would also love to be able to hear the lyrics to this one. it's super drowned out which is my biggest issue with mainstream/radio pop - I have to be able to understand the lyrics and with this one I only heard maybe one line per verse. I really have nothing else to say. this was definitely not a wow moment for me lol.
13. Masterpiece - I'm so sorry to say that this one just did not hit for me. the autotune is disappointing but the intentions were good and the bridge is wonderful. I will forgive him if he does an acoustic version.
14. Say Less - I gave her many chances. she did not live up to expectations. especially as the lead single. but late at night in the car driving alone is the mood you want because it will hit hard. I haven't had the opportunity to do that yet but I'm imagining how good it will feel.
Overall, this entire album is so damn incredible. This man never misses and he deserves all the hype he gets. I would suggest he avoid autotune because a) he doesn't need it and b) he can't use it right lol. Get this on the charts. Recommend it to friends and family and coworkers and classmates and any random person you come into contact with. The fact that I had to rank Blessings so low says a lot about the quality of this album. I feel lucky to be alive when I listen to this.

HELLO apparently July 28th is the release date for Down to Earth therefore in honor of its 42nd birthday I wanna do a ranking of all the songs based on my personal preference of course.
(I’m only doing songs from the original studio release sorry no Bad Girl or Weiss Heim but they’re both sexy ;))
Tumblr media
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lwCsMQWkN3g
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o7YOM4gx3RE (spark don’t mean a fire aka the alternate version don’t worry it’s beautiful)
8. No Time To Lose:  Starting off this list we’ve got the second song off this record and it isn’t bad in anyway.  In fact, it’s very upbeat and energetic, especially with Graham’s absolutely stunning vocals.  However, compared to the rest of the list I feel it falls just a bit short.  The lyrics themselves are actually pretty dark looking at them with examples such as, “It ain’t no lie, you’re hurting and you don’t know why.”  Don’t know what Roger or Ritchie were going through but damn, anyway, musically the song is also very strong.  The guitar riff is addicting but I feel it’s the combination of, again, Graham’s vocals and Cozy’s monstrous drumming that gives this song so much energy.  Not bad at all from a song that’s at the bottom of a list.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1P17ct4e5OE
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_v0bDfZytwk (Russ Ballard version, it’s really good)
7. Since You’ve Been Gone: Listen, I know many may judge this choice but I didn’t put this song at the bottom because of one, the sentimental value it has, and two, it’s not a bad song at all.  Okay, it’s not the best as well but Russ Ballard made a beautiful song about heartbreak that is only made greater by this glorious lineup.  I’ve actually listened to Ballard’s originally version and while it isn’t bad, I feel that Graham really helped cement this song and really put Rainbow on the charts.  I especially enjoy the interlude section that drops into a sweet ballad type tone before dropping back into the chorus.  Graham’s versatile vocals are well-equipped to amplify this song to a new level and not only that but without this song I probably would have never started listening to Rainbow.  Although very commercialized and maybe too light to many, this song holds a special place in my heart and I do love it dearly.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g2XDORONuuY
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WmQBKq0d_-I (Cozy Powell mix, yes it’s exactly what you’d think it would sound like if the drummer was the producer)
6. All Night Long: The second real commercialized song on this album and honestly the last.  However, where it differs from the other is that this song still has big traces of that hard rock attitude that Rainbow had emerged into.  That simple yet beautiful riff that gets stuck in your head, Cozy’s powerful drumming, Graham’s powerhouse vocals, I mean what else do you really want from a song.  Just from that opening riff you feel that rush of just pure hard rock energy shiver through your body.  It really is just a fun hard rock song that, although may not be anything too complex, isn’t bad at all.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EeVFTeXs1o8
5. Danger Zone: Danger Zone always stood out to me as a very interesting and different song.  Don is absolutely phenomenal in this song, especially his keyboard solo which Ritchie follows up upon to make a beautiful instrumental section.  I’d be remiss to not mention Graham who hits at some of his highest parts here.  This song really showed off the prowess of his full vocal abilities, hitting high notes with all the strength you’d expect from a hard rock singer.  The actual lyrics of the song are quite beautiful as well I believe.  Parts such as, “Don’t understand when you’re looking for a dame but it’s only a heartbreak away.  And you’ll learn, faking has no return.”  Really suspecting some mental instability from either Roger or Ritchie at this point...
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O8FcrH1lDeY
4. Eyes of the World:  Many may be surprised why this song isn’t higher up the list but trust me, I have good reasons.  Eyes of the World is definitely a highlight piece in this album and really is a final goodbye to the Dio era of Rainbow.  The subject manner is very of that era and really feels like it could have been sung by Ronnie.  I think to many this song helped alleviate the fears that Rainbow had gone fully vapid with it’s material (though we’ll see how that sentiment drags on throughout the next few years)  Don Airey truly deserves the limelight here for that incredible keyboard intro that just sucks you into that dark world of evil.  He really makes this song something truly special.  Cozy Powell is phenomenal throughout all these tracks but especially in this track where he’s at his home environment and just listen to the interludes between the chorus and verse, just incredible.  Then to our man of the hour, Graham Bonnet, he just absolutely kills it here.  He puts so much passion and emotion into the vocals that I find it strange how anyone could possibly still doubt him as a suitable vocalist for the band.  Ritchie’s solo here as well is probably one of my favorites off of this album just really makes this song something truly special.  I often like to compare this piece to the Gates of Babylon or Tarot Woman to Down to Earth with an incredible keyboard intro and other-wordly themes of evil and darkness that make it a classic Rainbow tune.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iU__fm6QFvk
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lzQZoOvzzNo (Ain’t A Lot of Love In the Heart of Me, it’s brilliant and honestly parts are somewhat better than the final version lol)
3. Love’s No Friend:  I remember reading an article that talked about this song being Rainbow’s Mistreated.  That description always had stayed with me and while I partially agree with the statement, I also think this song is very different from the former.  Yes, both deal with heartbreak and emanates a grandiose sense of grievance from that sentiment however it differs in how that sentiment is delivered.  Mistreated, as stated by Blackmore, is really just a guitar song.  The relies both on David’s great bluesy voice that can conceive that anguish in his voice like no other vocalist can (love ya Dave) and Blackmore’s just heart-wrenching solo at the end which is probably one of the most emotional guitar solos I’ve ever heard.  With Love’s No Friend I find that it’s more of a complete package having all elements of the band contribute to the piece.  Not that but the lyrics are much more refined in this song.  I often find Mistreated’s lyrics very stale and boring since they’re basically just “I’ve been mistreated, I’ve been abused,” and the only reason they get away with that is because of David’s incredible vocal performances.  Trust me, Graham’s an incredible performer as well but these lyrics have much more substance to them and I feel just stands taller as a complete song.  Speaking of Graham, this is probably his strongest performance in the album.  You know what part I’m talking about if you’ve listened to this song but THAT part is just wow, that solidified him as one of my favorite vocalists of all time.  The entire song is really just a masterpiece and really just stands as one of the best Rainbow tunes in my opinion.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F1LvViMLKNo
2. Makin’ Love - Oh this song, how can I express my love for this song in ways that I haven’t already before.  Well if you didn’t know before, I put this as #5 on my top 5 Rainbow tunes and I still stick to it.  Let me just say, this is one of my favorite intros to any songs ever.  Don Airey is just magical in this entire album (and his entire career) but he especially shines here.  The simple yet beautiful little touches he adds throughout this song really makes it so much more profound.  That, once again, addicting Blackmore riff that just goes on throughout the song making the listener feel as if they’re going through a lonely yet sentimental walk down memory lane.  It kind of almost reminds me of one of my favorite Rick Springfield songs, Written In Rock, in that manner.  I guess I’m just a sucker for a pretty love ballad but man does Graham make it even better.  The man just had the perfect voice for these types of songs (please listen to Will You Be Home Tonight as an example) and he’s able to convey those vulnerable tones in his voice while maintaining that strong hard rock attitude like I’ve seen no other singer be able to.  I didn’t even mention the sudden shift during the pre-chorus that’s complimented with Cozy’s ferocious cymbal playing.  Overall, I’m just a sucker for a nice love song.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mRLHHftZEJA
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7eRLQyXzZ1Y (the live Alcatrazz version because Yngwie is a cocky little piece of work and gets his guitar unplugged for 1 minute of the song, Graham is a beast here)
1. Lost In Hollywood - The magnum opus, probably not only the greatest Rainbow song but one of the greatest songs ever written and produced.  I’ve already gone into detail about this song in my overall album review but just on first listening you can definitely tell that this song is something else.  The energy, the tempo, is almost seems rushing like they’re running out of time on the record to give everything they wanted to show to the listener.  The lyrics sort of remind me of Super Trouper (the Deep Purple one okay) if Super Trouper was an overdramatic and grandiose love ballad.  It’s obvious that the song is talking about the overbearing nature of becoming famous and the sacrifices one has to make to get to the mantle.  One of my favorite song lyrics of all time perfectly exemplify this through, “I’m gonna lose control, if I’ve been losing you to pay for rock and roll.”  They’re lost in Hollywood, not just the actual place but the lifestyle that befits every star.  I still think that Super Trouper as a song is a more profound piece on the effects of stardom as a whole but this song as well is beautifully written to talk about those themes in maybe not so personal manners.  The song really is just a beautiful showcase of the talents that were the Mark 4 lineup of Rainbow and stands in my eyes as one of the finest pieces of music ever created.
Yeah, I’ve probably over exaggerated enough.  Once again, I’m very biased here but I’m also speaking with my own tastes and experiences in mind.  Despite the constant lineup changes, Blackmore always seems to find the most top-notch musicians and I believe this lineup truly exemplified that.  It’s a shame that they couldn’t continue on but at least we got this album as a glorious reminder of what 5 musicians can do with enough talent and probably alcohol.
Also, the hallmark of all live performances: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I5VPzJlUKVc

This is what I wrote on my instagram fan account after I first listened to Red (Taylor's Version) back on 12th November:
The gratitude I feel after I listened to Red (Taylor's Version) is honestly huge. I can't even explain how I'm feeling. It's surreal. This angel of an album saved my entire 2021.
My baby, my haven, my favorite album, the one that has been my ultimate hug when I felt abandoned, lonely, hurt but even during the happy moments of my life. I'm so glad that I can now stream it after two and half years that I haven't.
The songs are so well made to fit the new style Taylor wanted to take Red into. The well known road, the same one with the new and polished lines and labels is so defined, well formed, warm and damn fine. Begin Again is my favorite song since 2013 and I'm very thankful that I can stream it again and that I'll be able to jam it again without thinking it doesn't belong to the woman who created it, my favorite woman. I can't even find specific words to talk about each song because it's still early and my emotions are really high and very overwhelming, in the best way possible.
The vault tracks are all so beautiful and I was truly touched by their deep truth, their full of heart emotions, meanings and their such beautiful vibe. Her red feelings were all so greatly showed and put together on those masterpieces. I'm not sure if I have a favorite, but Nothing New and I Bet You Think About Me have a super soft spot in my heart (after these few times I listened to the album by now). But it's still very early.
All Too Well 10 Minute Version was even more interesting, remarkable and ethereal than I could ever imagine with my poor imagination. I'm so intrigued by the opera feeling that this amazing version of our favorite song had. All those different highs and lows, the emotions shifting and the angst that this painful story can convey was like watching a highly done and very important piece of art, an old french cinema movie, or even better; a Taylor Swift movie. I'll always bow down to her novelty, her sharp mind and her never-ending capability to create such vivid images with her words.
Red (Taylor's Version), thank you for existing. Or better... @taylorswift thank you for creating this masterpiece. I love it and I love you! ❤️

media reccs? 👀 since apparently you are a man of good taste?
Wow thank you 😏 I have a masterlist of movies that have changed me I often recommend to people, I'll just copy and paste here with quick synopses lol, it's kinda long. I'm not super great at writing synopses tho so bear with me
Dead Poets Society (1989)
One of my favorite movies of all time and a total classic. It's about a group of boys at a strict boarding school who are inspired by their new English teacher (played by Robin Williams) to think for themselves and chase their dreams. This movie literally changed my life lol
Quadrophenia (1979)
This movie is based off of the story behind the concept album by The Who of the same name. It follow the life of a young man named Jimmy who is in a gang called the Mods. Theres this huge gang war between them and the Rockers (I think that's their name, it's been a while since i watched it) and Jimmy questions his beliefs about coming-of-age and his values in life throughout the film
Cabaret (1972)
Based off of the Broadway musical of the same name, this movie is about a British man who moves to Germany during the beginning of the rise of Nazis. He meets a woman who basically turns his world upside down, and it follows their love affair and sexuality and anti-semitism, and it's hilarious and heart wrenching and a beautiful movie
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (2004)
This is a super trippy romance film. Basically in the universe of this movie, theres a technology that is developed that can delete memories of an entire person from your mind while you are in a dream-like state, and the main character of this movie (played by Jim Carrey) decides to undergo the procedure after a bad breakup. Its soooo good I highly recommend this movie
It's Such a Beautiful Day (2012)
This is an animated film about a man named Bill who is going through brain cancer. Its told from the perspective of an unnamed narrator essentially communicating everything Bill sees, hears, and experiences. This is the movie that got me into film and it is still a complete masterpiece and one of the most beautiful movies I've ever seen
The Dirties (2013)
Loved this one a lot back in high school, it's been a while since I watched it. This is a film made in Canada about a high schooler named Matt Johnson and his friend Owen who decide to make a short film for their class about them killing the gang at their school that bullies them, and things take a dark turn. It's a hilarious movie and hits pretty close to home for me in a lot of ways haha
Logan's Run (1976)
Great movie, pretty cheesy though so be warned. This is based off a book with the same name, and it takes place in the future where most of humanity is wiped out except for a small society that lives under a domed structure. No one is allowed to leave the dome, and to control overpopulation, no one is allowed to live past the age of 30. It's really bizarre but I love this movie
Donnie Darko (2001)
Pretty sure this was Jake Gyllenhaal's first big hit when he was super young (I think he was like 19 in this movie but I'm not sure) basically about this kid, Donnie Darko, who is somewhat schizophrenic and has a habit of sleepwalking. After one particular incident he has a near-death experience and starts seeing a man in a bunny costume everywhere who makes him do weird stuff. Another pretty trippy movie with a crazy ending
American Psycho (2000)
Honestly I'm sure a few on this list you've probably seen (most likely this one included) but I didnt wanna leave any out because they're all so good. If you haven't seen this, it's about a Wall Street executive named Patrick Bateman who is a materialistic phony by day and a serial killer by night. I tried to read the book but the inner dialogue was really hard to get through lmao. Awesome movie though huge recommend.
Clockwork Orange (1971)
Yet another trippy one. And fuck it's been a long time since I've seen it so I might get some stuff wrong here. But it's basically about this serial rapist guy who hangs out with this group of goons and they all like to go beat up homeless people and shit, but the main character gets captured and has to go through reformation therapy to make him a better person. It's an extremely bizarre movie but soooo good and kind of hilarious lol
Creep (2014)
Of course this is on my list haha. If you haven't seen it yet, it's a horror movie about this freelance film guy who answers an ad on craigslist to help a man with cancer film a movie for his unborn son. And shit gets weird real fast. One of my favorite horror movies ever, I wouldnt say it's super scary but it's fun as fuck
Hereditary (2018)
If I'm being honest, I don't like a lot of big movies made in super recent years and especially not horror movies (mostly because they're all cheap cash grabs with no substance) but this one is an exception for me. Hereditary is fucking masterful in my opinion, legitimately creepy as hell and well-produced and well written. To put the plot as vaguely as possible without spoiling anything, it's about a family (mostly the mother) who go through some crazy fucked up shit. That's literally all I can say without giving anything away. Super good flick, big recommend
Gattaca (1997)
This list isn't in any particular order, and I love all these movies to death, but if I had to rank them this would probably be on the lower end. It's not a bad movie, it's still great but it's just not as life-changing as the other ones lmao. This takes place in the future where genetic modifications have progressed to a point where you can modify your unborn child's DNA to have the perfect baby. This has led to, essentially racial bias against those who never had that procedure when they were born. The main character was not one of these "special" children, but he wants an extremely prestigious job which requires that of the employee. Through the film, he is trying to fake his identity and fool the company into thinking he is one of these perfect people. Still a great film
Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas (1998)
Johnny Depp, man, he is something else. I LOVE this movie. Based off a true story and a book written by the man who lived it, Hunter S. Thompson, this follows the adventure of the writer and his attorney as they go on a drugged-out, psychedelic romp through Las Vegas with the original intention being to cover a story on a motorcycle race, but things go off the rails as they both terrorize the entire city in a way. Just a fun ride the whole way, a great movie
The Truman Show (1998)
God I'm realizing this list is long as fuck. Don't watch all of these movies, it might take you a lifetime lmao. Anyway, this is a classic Jim Carrey movie and another one you've probably seen. But again, if you haven't, this movie is about a man whose entire life has been fabricated and shot for television without him knowing. Super great, super moving, fantastic film 10 outta 10 I gotta wrap this shit up
A Scanner Darkly (2006)
A lesser known Keanu Reeves movie, but fuck I wish more people have seen this. This is one of my favorite movies of all time, and it's based off a book which is just as amazing. This movie takes place in the near future, where facial recognition technology has progressed wayyy too far, and drugs have gotten to the point of no return. The plot follows a detective who is undercover in a junkie house trying to figure out who is the top of the drug dealing totem pole, but ends up wrapped in the junkie lifestyle a little too deeply. Seriously, I recommend this movie to everyone who asks, it's so damn good
Fight Club (1999)
Another popular one. If you havent seen it, it's based off a book by Chuck Palahniuk following the story of a man (the main character actually doesnt have a name lol) who meets a guy named Tyler Durden who changes his entire perspective on how the world works. They start an underground boxing club together to help themselves and other men blow off steam and get away from the capitalist consumer-centric lifestyle they are forced into. Big twist at the end, great movie five stars on yelp
Harold and Maude (1971)
This is a weird one. Gotta say. It's about a guy in his 20s who meets an old woman at a funeral and falls in love with her. Sounds pretty ok at face value but theres a lot of really strange subplots and a huuuuge twist at the end (one of the subplots being the guy compulsively fakes his suicide to get his mother's attention) big recommend
Polyester (1981)
This one I cant even explain u just have to watch it its fucking bizarre
Fargo (1996)
Ok lightning round on the synopses, this movie is about a man who wants to commit fraud by hiring guys to kidnap his wife so her father can pay them ransom and instead the husband gets the money but everything goes wrong it's really good
Bad Times at the El Royale (2018)
Another modern movie I actually like, last time I watched this I was on shrooms and it was crazy but it's about this hotel right on the border of california and (Nevada I think?) And all these weird people are staying at it and there are twists at every turn and chris hemsworth is a cult leader in it its great
Memento (2000)
GREAT MOVIE GOD PLEASE WATCH THIS ONE it's about a man who develops short term memory loss after witnessing the rape and murder of his wife AND WHEN I SAY THERE ARE TWISTS LIKE EVERY TEN MINUTES I MEAN IT. The film is chronologically backwards, in that the first scene takes place at the end of the story and works back from there in increments of like 5 minutes. Basically each scene is a segment of time that this guy remembers before his memory loss kicks in and he forgets and FUCK it's so good please god watch it
Almost Famous (2000)
This is another one that would probably be low on my ranking but still a great and fun movie, it's about this kid that wants to write articles about rock stars for the rolling stone (based off a true story btw) and he ends up running away to go ride on a tour bus with some band and gets into all types of shenanigans and its great and sad
Parasite (2019)
Another modern movie I love, fuck this is getting too long lmao. Poor family wants to make money and they hatch a scheme to pretend to be bougie and work for this rich family but shit gets weird and everything goes wrong and it's so good (also literally the only film ever that made me speechless afterwards)
Pulp Fiction (1994)
Pretty much lives up to the hype, I totally forgot the plot but it's pretty damn good I remember that lmao
The Warriors (1979)
Fun movie, theres a bunch of teen gangs in New York and the leader of all of em is like "hey we should rally all the gangs together and fuck up the cops so we can rule this city" but then he gets shot by someone in the crowd and the gang The Warriors gets blamed so the whole movie is them running from all the other gangs so they can get back to home base and it's just an all around fun time movie
12 Monkeys (1995)
THIS MOVJE IS CRAZY it takes place in the future where a virus has almost completely wiped humans off the face of the earth so these scientists send this guy back in time to figure out where it came from so they can stop it from ever happening but obviously everything goes wrong and yadda yadda yadda it's amazing
Waking Life (2001)
Gonna preface this by saying this film is definitely not for entertainment, it's kind of an arthouse-type flick. It's the type of movie you have to think really really hard about to watch. The basic plot is the main character is stuck inside his own lucid dream, and is walking around listening to all these characters in his dream talk to him about, idk like the meaning of life and consciousness and shit. It's really good if you're in the mood for that type of thing.
Okay I'm finally done, you probably didnt expect this but I've been meaning to put my movie recommendations on this blog anyway haha. I deleted some just cause it was getting wayyyy too long. If u want a shorter list I can just give u like a top 5 in DMs but there u go have at it, every movie on that list is a banger I swear

So what are your top 5 favorite BTS songs and then top 5 favorite BTS videos?
Then what are you top 5 favorite Jikook moments? Lol Haaaard questions
Gonna combine these two cause I think these are from the same anonie, who I’m starting to think likes to make people suffer djfhskdh (if it’s not from the same person, then big rip)
Sorry this took so long, I was really trying to narrow it down to top 5 and I think I still ended up failing... I actually do this with my friends but usually, we’re a little bit more generous by narrowing it down to stuff like: top 5 title tracks, top 5 rap-line, top 5 vocal line, top 5 albums, etc... Asking me top 5 songs from their entire discography is absolutely savage.
For my top 5 BTS songs (IN NO PARTICULAR ORDER BECAUSE I BARELY NARROWED IT DOWN TO FIVE, YOU CANT MAKE ME RANK THEM):
Blood Sweat & Tears: the monarch, the goat, putting it simply, the absolute best. I honestly remember when the Wings short films started dropping, my friend and I panicked HARD because we were like “WTF IS GOING ON WHAT IS THIS”. And then the teaser dropped, and it was so different from the “typical” BTS we’ve been getting, so we were even more confused. But then... The MV dropped and that was honestly just such a massive turning point for everything. Also, as an ARMY with a Jimin bias, I almost didn’t survive it.
Attack on Bangtan: okay this is honestly just such a fun hype song that never gets old no matter how many times you listen to it? It’s honestly a classic and whenever it plays on Run BTS, I know I’m either about to witness an epic moment or it’s gonna send my ass on the floor from laughing. (Also, let us never forget Tae’s “Nico nico niiii~”)
I Need U: okay this was The song that got me learning all their names and holy shit, I’ve listened to this song so much, it’s currently 5th most played song (out of nearly 2k songs) in my iTunes with 1,338 plays. When one hears “Fall...”, one does not simply resist the urge to belt “EVERYTHANG” with feelings. Also, funnily enough, the one that first caught my eye was Yoongi, there was something so eye-catching about the way he rapped in such a despondent manner at the start of the mv.
House of Cards: I definitely need to put this one because I’ve listened to this song a total of 2,104 times, if you add the Prologue (short) version total (861) to the full length one (1,243). This was my “hoe” anthem long before My Time was born. I deadass fell in love with the song 10 seconds in, there was no saving me and you cannot stop anyone from doing emo bodyrolls when it comes up. Jikook’s bridge? I can’t sing to save my life but you can bet your ass I’m lipsyncing to that shit every single time.
I HATE THIS. I HATE PICKING THE LAST ONE, I WANT TO FIT THEIR ENTIRE DISCOGRAPHY INTO THIS LAST SPOT FFFFFFF.
And now, the last one... can I cheat and throw Euphoria, Serendipity and Seesaw all at my 5th spot? Cause I REALLY can’t pick one out of these 3 skjdhfkshdkf I have such an emotional attachment to Serendipity and Euphoria at this point (DJ Swivel remix of Euphoria? Hello?? I almost cried??? You are me, I am you?? HMMM????), and Seesaw just really surprised me. I absolutely was not expecting it, but holy shit, Seesaw slapped and it slapped hard. At this point, I’m like, anything Yoongi touches turns to absolute gold, I can’t resist him.
Okay I have so many other faves (Spring Day, Baepsae, etc.) but since you only asked for top 5 and not, like, top 100, I have to stop myself here, but I also very curious about your top 5s if you guys wanna share!! Let’s see how well you do, only narrowing it down to 5.
For my top 5 BTS videos (I only counted Bangtan Bombs and live performances, excluding MVs, since you didn’t specify. Otherwise there are too many... just thinking about how many Run BTS episodes I could fit otherwise lmfao):
Perfect Man: I’m a Jimin stan. What did you expect, me to not include this masterpiece??
As I Told You: Good lord, Jungkook was so fkn attractive in a hockey jersey of all things. I honestly loved it so much, I can listen to the live audio as is.
2018 MMA - IDOL Intro Performance (3J focus): Again, I am a Jimin stan. But seriously, from Hobi hitting every. single. beat. while dancing on a raised platform, to Jimin’s fan dance (I streamed the show live and I couldn’t focus on anything else after), to JK lounging like the absolute king that he is, what’s not to love?
It’s Tricky Bangtan Bomb: oldie but goldie, honestly. All of them were babies but holy shit, if their casual dancing didn’t absolutely make me fall in love with them all over again. It honestly never gets old no matter how many times I watch it.
BTS Carpool Karaoke: I have to admit, I honestly got stuck picking the last one so I went with this one because I feel like this is a really really good video to introduce others to BTS to. From their amazing acapella vocals (JK belting Finesse lives in my mind rent free) to how they were so perfectly themselves? You had Hobi’s sunshine smile in the middle, Baby Mochi, Jin’s “I don’t know what he said, but let’s laugh ha ha ha ha”, etc.
Okay I have to admit something, I probably forgot like 90% of their videos so if any of you guys mention a video, I might go “AH SHIT I FORGOT ABOUT THAT ONE SKDJFHKSH” so take this list more as a “bangtan videos you should 100% watch” :^)
For my top 5 jikook moments (you absolutely devil, how could you ask me such a question), in no particular order because, again, I actually cannot physically bring myself to rank them:
Jimin comforting a crying JK during LY: (6:05) the way Jimin ran over as soon as he saw Jungkook bent over, facing the backstage. My heart. And he kept JK company for a bit, making sure he was fine before leaving. This whole thing just makes my heart melt into a puddle no matter how many times I think/see about it because it’s like, the timing is just? Anpanman barely started and he just looked over, saw, and ran over. Jesus Christ.
That Jikook moment during SY Seoul Finale: Just how much comfort Jimin must represent for Jungkook to let the dam free once again just seeing his face aghhhhhasgdahj I literally made an entire post about that moment because of how incredibly soft it gets me. I’ve linked it but it’s also my pinned so it’s very easy to find.
“Are you guys dating?”: (start) holy shit okay so this moment is so sdjkfhkdshkfdhks the way both of them were so giggly? It never fails to make me laugh how absolutely done Joon sounded when he said “push quickly!” Also, just how soft did Jimin make his voice when he asked “are you ready”? and how JK, the single most competitive member of BTS, was just giggling the entire time and didn’t even try pushing Jimin before Jimin ended up eliminating himself. Not to mention how JK couldn’t into Jimin’s eyes and only finally made eye contact with at the very end :^)
MMA 2018: lmao okay so I’m just gonna throw this entire fkn night into the mix. I still remember how it was the wee hours in the morning for me when I started following the live stream and damn, they were literally inseparable the entire time. My TL was exploding in Jikook content and between watching them through the official broadcast and watching the fancams, I was BUSY. They did everything: whispering to each other’s ears, slinging their arms around each other’s shoulders, JK massaging JM’s nape, JK pulling JM down to sit... phew.
GCF in Tokyo: Okay so this is one of those things that the more you think about it, the more you can’t believe it’s real. I couldn’t not include this simply because of how meaningful the whole thing was. There’s so much about it that makes me ????? because JK really booked a two-person trip to Tokyo for Jimin’s birthday. And Jimin genuinely had fun on that trip. The whole thing just shows how comfortable the two of them are with each other because they’d never had gone on a trip together elsewise. I recently saw a Korean movie director’s reaction to GCF and the whole thing didn’t have any subs, but the two reactors were like “ohhh... these two... these two must be really close” (they’d reacted to BTS MVs before, but they’re not familiar with how the members are outside of that). From my limited Korean understanding, the movie director then commented “Because the model and the director are so close, it’s very natural” (if I’ve gotten any Korean followers, I’d love to get confirmation on the words said because my Korean understanding isn’t perfect and I don’t want to be spreading crap around). GCF in Tokyo is also the first video posted under the GCF label, with JK editing the whole thing himself. He filmed, he directed, he edited. And his main actor was Jimin.
I was this 👌🏻 close to adding LY lap sitting and Rose Bowl moments but I had other faves to include so I thought I’d go with something else :^) GCF forced its way into my list, I had no say in it.
Okay so I hope this was enough skdjfhkdshfs this post got really long cause I couldn’t help myself from giving reasons for why I included the ones I did, I’m sorry sjkfhdks Please feel free to share you’re own fave songs/videos/jikook moments!!

okay i know i already talked abour omori yesterdy but man, this game....
i really can't stop thinking about it so here's some thoughts (with spoilers ofc)
also if you're into psychological horror and undertale-like videogames, definitely check omori, this game is truly a masterpiece
· ok first of all. SOMETHING is singlehandedly the creepiest monster i've ever seen in my entire life, like its design was already bad enough but when you learn it comes from the boys looking at mari's corpse before the leave is :/
· also the music when you face any of the SOMETHING forms
· the game in general is so fucking creepy and it's truly impressive. i'm not an expert on horror rpgs but i feel like a lot of them just use over the top creepy/gruesome elements that yeah they make you feel :/ but you forget them afterward because they are not impressive... but omori manages to be very unsettling through the dark parts of the game because it's all related to sunny's guilt over mari's death, and that's what really makes it for me, it's honestly a really clever thing
· the theme of guilt is just so amazingly done in this game to the point that it becomes just heartbreaking. The something following you in the leaving ending; basil's something eating him up during his fight, abbi being trapped in the abyss because omori doesn't want to face the idea of telling eveyone the truth, the headspace being a metaphore of sunny not wanting to move on, basil disappearing because sunny doesn't want to remember what happened, the stairs being so unsettling, the whole part about basil in the black space, ... just wow
· the black photo album thing is so damn cool that was a very nice touch to reveal the truth
· it actually didn't hit me how terrible the whole situation was until omori said "everyone loved her and you killed her" like man that hurts
· also the fact everyone thinks she comitted suicide is just so hurtful, because they don't know what led her to hang herself you know... they are all probably thinking all the time about mari's hidden problems and how they never noticed them and feeling like it's their fault she committed suicide... damn
· speaking of this i can't stop thinking about that time kel says that after mari's death hero was so devastated he became isolated for a whole year. it doesn't seem like it because when he comes back he's cheerful and all that, but it feels like he was the one who felt the worst after the incident (besides sunny and basil ofc)
· the characters are all so cute and funny and warm i can't believe this is a horror game
· maybe my only complaint is that basil's feelings on the situation are way over the top compared to his actual rol in the incident... like throughout the whole game i was thiking basil was the one who had done the very fucked up thing so finding out it was sunny who killed mari was kinda disappointing? i mean i get he's an anxious and depressed boy but if that's the only reason why he looks far more nervous than sunny then that's kinda weak ngl
· humphrey's battle was so damn scary who tf came up with that
· the drawings on omori's sketchbook?? bruh
· watching the hikikomori route and these two comments devastated me: "After finishing the game in the best ending, looking at this entire route is really depressing, it's a better RPG experience, the dream world evolves, the characters have more depth and there are a lot more quests and areas to explore, but this is all fake, the real Sunny accomplished nothing, he won't see his real friends ever again and everyone's life will remain broken forever." // "He survives, but never truly lives."
i'll probably add more stuff later but tl;dr this game is a masterpiece and everyone should play it

Best BTS Songs of All Time - A.K.A. BTS Songs that Deserve a Grammy (Up To BTS, the Best)
So, I’ve been wanting to make this list ever since the Scammys incident, and I’m excited to share these opinions will all of you.
I’m saying upfront that I really do think, at the very least, BTS’s last three album series deserve a Grammy (for all a Grammy is worth now), but I’ve made this a short list to highlight the very best in BTS’s music. I’m going to post about my favorite BTS songs later because most of BTS’s music, to me, is the best music there is. However, I tried to stay objective with this list and only mention songs that have a special quality about them that sets them apart from even BTS’s own exceptional discography.
Here’s the quick list in order from bottom to the best BTS song of all time:
DNA
Magic Shop
Life Goes On
Mikrokosmos
Dionysus
MIC Drop
BLACK SWAN
Blue & Grey
Spring Day
ON
Note that, by the numbers, Dynamite is technically BTS’s best song of all time. However, I’m not making this list based on commercial success, but rather, the qualities of the songs themselves.
If you want to read my thoughts on these songs, please keep reading:
10. DNA
There have been many BTS songs that hit perfectly the entire way through for different reasons. For instance, Boy In Luv has interesting melodies for every member at all times; the vocal throughout Lights is consistently gorgeous, the production in FAKE LOVE is stunning. DNA is the only song in BTS’s discography that hits all of those elements perfectly, and turns it up to eleven. The other songs on this list have a degree of this, too, but DNA can even be separated from those songs because it’s got a special vibe and energy to it that no other BTS song has. Ergo, I think DNA is probably one of the most well produced BTS songs of all time.
9. Magic Shop
I couldn’t resist dropping Magic Shop on this list. The intent of this song was very important to me in deciding to include it. How many artists today would write such an intimate song dedicated to their fan base? I kind of have a similar reasoning for including MIC Drop, but Magic Shop is always going to be a legendary BTS song. I don’t think sensationalism determines a good song, but in Magic Shop’s case, the sincerity and emotion that was put into everything from the vocal to the production (shoutout to Jungkook for that) makes it feel really special. Beyond that, the melody line is stunning; Magic Shop probably has some of the best melodies in all of BTS’s discography.
8. Life Goes On
Besides the peaceful melodies and relaxing vocals, I think Life Goes On deserves to be on this list because of the message it sent. It came at an extremely necessary time during a difficult period in human history. However, I don’t actually think that’s enough to put it on this list; the reason Life Goes On made it is because it conveyed it’s message throughout every facet of this song. Taehyung’s vocal tells the story, the melodies tell the story, the way Yoongi’s vocal tone was used tells the story, and so on. It’s really rare to be able to tell a story with only sound in modern music, but Life Goes On is able to do it, even if you’re only listening to the instrumental or the hum of the member’s voices.
7. Mikrokosmos
Mikrokosmos has such a punch of emotion to it and, honestly, may have the best melody line out of any song on this list, let alone the rest of BTS’s discography. It’s not easy at all to produce something that's so gripping, so BTS managing to produce that with Mikrokosmos counts for something. It’s an almost unexplainable perfection that comes out of the production, the melodies, and the vocals, but I think “perfection” is the correct word to use. I mean, how could that not be considered one of BTS’s best songs of all time?
6. Dionysus
When I was making this list, this was one of the songs I put on it before even considering what else could be on it. In fact, Dionysus is one of the two songs that made me think about making this list. I mean, what a power song this is. The themes used within the lyrics, the analogies used within the themes, are enough to place Dionysus on this list, but the production. The production value in Dionysus is absolutely through the roof. Everything from the way the instrumental was mixed to the way effects were used on the vocals makes Dionysus stand out. Whatever BTS did to produce this song, it was golden.
5. MIC Drop
We start off the top 5 with MIC Drop. MIC Drop is on this list because it’s iconic, but it isn’t iconic in the same way Dynamite or FAKE LOVE is; it isn’t iconic because of the repeatability or the melody line--it’s iconic because of the quality. That isn’t to say that Dynamite, FAKE LOVE, or any other highly successful BTS song doesn’t have a high degree of quality in them, but MIC Drop was sensationalized despite the lack of a distinct melody line. Again, I’m not doing this based on popularity, but I do think MIC Drop’s popularity came because it’s such a brilliant piece of songwriting. The lyrics of MIC Drop are, more or less, the sole reason it’s made this list--and I think that’s a damn good reason considering the lyrics MIC Drop has. You can find clever and cutting lyrics all over BTS discography, but nothing can touch MIC Drop.
4. BLACK SWAN
BLACK SWAN is so unlike any other BTS song--really, any song at all. There are a lot of things I could say about BLACK SWAN, but the main points are: production and concept. The concept for the lyrics in BLACK SWAN are absolutely heartbreaking, and connecting that to the process of turning into a black swan is genius. The production is--for lack of a better word--insane. Like I said, this sound cannot be found anywhere else in BTS’s discography--not even on MOTS: 7, which is probably BTS’s most experimental album to date (even though BE is a close second). The fact that BLACK SWAN is able to stick out that much in my eyes makes it clear that it’s one of the best BTS songs of all time.
3. Blue & Grey
This song. Oh, my goodness, where do I begin? I genuinely believe that Blue & Grey is one of the best songs ever, period. Taehyung did an amazing job writing and producing this masterpiece. The lyrics alone are enough to include it among BTS’s best songs of all time, but melodies and the vocals are absolute gorgeous. Blue & Grey has the best harmonies of any BTS song, in my opinion. Also, in the same way Life Goes On is able to tell its story throughout every facet of the song, Blue & Grey is able to do that also. You can feel every bit of emotion Taehyung was feeling when he wrote it, whether you’re listening to Yoongi rap, Jikook harmonize, the instrumental, or Taehyung closing out the song. Everything about Blue & Grey speaks, and I don’t think any other BTS song has done that.
2. Spring Day
Were you expecting Spring Day to be on this list? Were you expecting it to be number one? I don’t think there’s a lot to say about Spring Day that hasn’t already been said. It’s a masterpiece. It feels big, doesn’t it? It feels like it’s telling you something important, and you’re beholden to listen. That’s the magic of Spring Day is that it’s so captivating. From the production to the vocals to the melody and everything in between, Spring Day stuns me every time I listen to it. It’s a song that’s very much alive, if that makes sense, and I don’t think anyone would disagree that BTS found something special when they created Spring Day.
1. ON
ON was the main reason I wanted to make this list. I knew it was gonna be on here, and I knew it was gonna be number one. Something about ON is so, so special. The arrangement of the song is exceptional, and that working around the instrumental is absolutely brilliant. By the way, the instrumental is so good? The production slaps; I’d say this is definitely the absolute best production in BTS’s discography. Also, the tone and sound of ON is so unique, similar to BLACK SWAN. A big part of ON being on this list, though, are the lyrics. What a concept, honestly. Every point I’ve made on this list for why these songs are the best BTS songs of all time apply to ON, and more. It’s so hard to explain clearly, but when I listen to ON, it immediately grabs my attention. Ever since I heard it the first time, I’ve known this is BTS best song, and it absolutely deserves a Grammy.
Thank you for reading. Let me know if you agree, disagree, or would change anything about my list. Again, I think BTS’s music is the best there is, so maybe you think there are other songs that deserve a Grammy. Let me know in the replies!
