just a few random thoughts on The Arrangement Astarion (cw: mentions of past abuse and trauma)
The way abuse can warp someone for life is often overlooked. This isn't just a journey about him dealing with intimacy (in all its forms) but also how to do it in spite of everything he went through. Putting up walls and not letting her in, but feeling the need to resort to sarcasm and to being snarky cause the vulnerability that comes with it is just too much to handle. She has already seen the ugly yet he keeps doing it, because when you've doing it for so long it becomes second nature and it's hard to unlearn this behaviour. How can people stay when they've seen the ugly? Well, some people do stay because they have seen the ugly and their love for you surpasses that. They'd ve damned if they allowed that to change their opinion of you.
However, this doesn't have be a life sentence for him. He can learn and better himself alongside her if he so chooses. There will be good days. There will be bad days. But the constant will be her by his side. And this isn't about anyone getting fixed. There are other ways to heal. Are those healthy, though? But still, no matter how uncertain things are, he can count on her love as a constant that can help him love the parts of him that he has grown to hate.
Is it easy? Does it happen overnight? Probably not. But there's always hope. There is always a way out. Even when he dissociates. Even when he's fearful of getting more intimate with her. Even when he remembers that she chose friendship over something else - it's never easy to be shown what you need to see instead of what you want to see. Astarion falls into this constant dichotomy and I think it's worth exploring 🫂

Thoughtful and heartfelt article written by Lacy Baugher about the cancellation of Dead Boy Detectives, and why the decision just doesn’t make sense for Netflix.
I could literally quote the whole thing. Instead, I’ll leave you with these three (lengthy) quotes and encourage you to read the article in its entirety. And you totally should. It’s worth the read.
Quotes Below:
“On paper, the Dead Boy Detectives has all the ingredients to succeed. Its cast is charming; its vibes are fun and accessible. It features a genuine connection to an established and successful genre property, but not one so deep that new viewers would find themselves overwhelmed by lore. Perhaps most importantly, it has so, so much heart.”
“The pieces were in place for the series to run multiple seasons with rich character dynamics between the core quartet and a template that allowed for all sorts of adventures for the living and the dead. If this had been a show introduced during the heyday of The CW, it probably would have run for the better part of a decade. Alas, that's almost never a possibility in today's streaming landscape. Even the most successful series tend to come with a built-in expiration date. (Five years, max.)
Netflix has something of a history when it comes to cutting promising genre shows off at the knees. In recent years it has unceremoniously dumped all sorts of series, from fantasy (Shadow and Bone, Warrior Nun), and supernatural (Lockwood and Co., First Kill, The Midnight Club) to sci-fi (The OA, 1899). Dead Boy Detectives is certainly joining a good company. But the fact that its main characters were part of the same universe as The Sandman makes the show's cancellation even more galling. What streamer doesn't want a franchise to call its own? The Sandman is still one of the most popular comic series ever, and Netflix is currently gearing up to drop the second season of its successful TV adaptation.”
“That Dead Boy Detectives wasn't given more time to build an audience — or a bigger promotional budget to let viewers know of its existence — feels particularly criminal because Sandman's second season would have almost certainly given the drama a needed awareness boost.”

"If that's what you're willing to do for someone you hate, what would you do for someone you loved?"
Again black and white version under the cut as well as some sketches I made of the characters in preperation for this piece!

MCSM sculk white pumpkin Jesse au woohoo
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Last two doodles are just Aiden an Petra :D (who knew Aiden is so fun to draw?)
I'm finding it hard to not info dump because I want to actually write a fanfiction about it even though I am not experienced at writing fanfics (or writing for that matter, this is my first writing project I BETTER finish).
OK so basically everything is the same as the source material except, this Jesse never met WP, the events take place after deciding to hit the road with Petra, and together they find the ancient city.
They trigger and get attacked by the Warden and many sculkmobs. Jesse gets infected and flung into the city portal. Leaving him lost and desperate to get home.
I'm still in the works of fleshing out the story but the execution is mostly figured out. Along with the magic, portal, and infection system >:]

okay, just gonna say this now before i start this post: i have absolutely no problems with alternate universes, go ham with them, go wild, you can have fun, etcetc, they're called alternate universes for a reason, after all
however. HOWEVER.
i have a problem when people say something should have happened in canon, when canon itself disproves or goes against whatever these people want
the reason why im bringing this up?
the whole thing with how some people keep saying mirabel should have [insert the usual things people say here, hate, slap, punch, left, get revenge, etc, take your pick, there's unfortunately a lot to choose from] the family. in the canon movie.
again, i have no problem with alternate universes and seeing them in fanfics or whatever, you do you, could be interesting to see even
but when you start saying this should have happened in canon, its just. no. no.
god, it just frustrates me so much whenever i see these posts and comments, the ones that said she should have gone evil or villain or hate the family and all that stuff
because mirabel herself loves her family. she literally said it outright in the movie!!! its not in her personality and character to just go against them and hate them and want revenge. there will be hurt and hesitance and some resentment after everything she'd gone through, yes, but outright hate to the point where she'll hurt them?? absolutely not.
not with her character, her love and empathy and understanding, the traits we see her show in the movie.
like my friend once said: mirabel "he loved this family. i love this family. we all love this family" would NEVER hurt her family
say it louder for the people at the back!!
and thats not all i want to rant about tbh...the real kicker on this one?
whenever this statement is added on top of it all: "if i were mirabel—"
well, news flash people who keep saying these things, mirabel isnt you. mirabel is her own character who has her own experiences and her own feelings. maybe you'll be able to relate to her, especially with similar experiences, but that doesn't mean you can just copy and paste your own feelings onto her and say this is what she should have done in canon because thats what i would have done!!
we all project onto our favorite characters in various ways, which is completely fine, go at it and definitely not surprising for a story about family issues, but when you start to project so much that you throw away the character's actual personality and characterization in favor of said projection? yeah...no.
thats not mirabel madrigal anymore, that's a completely new character...or dare i say, a self-insert for some people... 💀:////
yeah, im just so frustrated with this AAAAAAA 😭
but anyway yes.
thats it, really. again, AUs are absolutely fine but if someone starts yapping about how canon should have [insert whatever those people keep saying here] instead while disregarding actual canon and proper characters and personalities, im going to become violent
anywho...thats my thoughts on this, went on a bit of a tangent but
yeah
anyway bye—

Short theory about the good omens spoiler under the cut:
Hear me tf out, I am almost DEAD certain I’m right about this…
There is no possible way Crowley and Aziraphale are fully alone in that image. You know why? Because Crowley has his glasses on. And I don’t think I’ve once seen him wear his glasses when alone with only Aziraphale in that trailer. There’s also the fact that Crowley’s doing that whole “Yank-Him-By-The-Ol’-Lapels” number and Aziraphale definitely seems a bit unprepared. Which, let’s face it, is never a situation that was preceded by a soft, mutual lean in. (Unless I’m living under a rock but that just doesn’t make sense to me.)
So not only is there a very high chance this moment is happening while around other people, but is also spontaneous. Given the intensity… I’d say desperate.
…Guys I don’t think this is happening in the context of them finally feeling safe and comfortable and the time being right. I think this is more one of those situations where this needs to be the time because there may be no time after.

Happy Pride Month fellow biblical abominations 🏳️‍🌈
This is something silly and unserious I wrote for @chosoyukiism. I just wanted Gojo to take a “Am I gay?” quiz and it was my best chance to write it
Summary:
After their first Pride events together, Gojo tries to confess his feelings to his best friends so clumsily that he gets mistaken for a homophobe.

actually so so stuck thinking about specifically nagito's trial in the ghost au. like chapter 5 stuff
would you happen to have anything else on that 🙏🙏
I've drawn a couple things involving Nagito in the ghost au, but those are a bit old.
Spoilers for SDR2!
Rewatching the trial, and knowing he knew everyone but Chiaki were Remnants of Despair, he would be watching everyone so closely during the discussions, proud of how this murder was truly unsolvable! Even when they came to the conclusion that the fire grenade was poisoned but could never be able to know who truly threw it, he was ecstatic. There's no way they could figure it out! Chiaki wouldn't be tipped off that she could see him. She could see all of the ghosts. This was the perfect plan to rid the world of Despair. Now whose Hope would come out on top, Nagito’s or Chiaki’s?
Man, the Despair he felt when Chiaki made the connection that his luck would put the fateful fire grenade in her hands. The Despair that crashed down on him when Hajime caught on, and they voted Chiaki as the blackened. He couldn't make an excuse of hopes colliding for this. This was just despair.
