I returned to a very old idea as part of a Game Mockup Jam where we created a screenshots of a hypothetical game.
So I give you Eldritch Night
An eldritch themed horror game concept in which you explore the land surrounding your recently departed grandfather’s wood cabin.
Not shocking the free land was too good to be true.

I wanna take the cartoons coming to life concept from bendy and make my own thing cos the devs stink 👎
the plot for this is; you play as some guy who got really drunk at a party and whilst trying to get back home although you end up getting lost in the woods. Then you start seeing hallucinations n shit and eventually your in some cursed cartoon forest! yipee! your goal is just to safely get back home
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
- during your journey through the woods the first thing you encounter is some owl guy who acts as a guide. He alerts you whenever an enemy is nearby by making a call.
- another character is jumbo the bear who isn’t really your friend but isn’t really an enemy? he just wanders around the forest ominously but he won’t attack you unless you try interact with him.
- your main enemy in the game is the black fawn who’s always trying to find you. Eventually you’ll find weapons you can use to defend yourself. they won’t kill him but they might stun him enough for you to escape
an attempt at making some ambience

More Arsentropolis!!!!!!!!
Tumblr media
I made some silly designs for the dogs and rats in the game concept, along with a new character!!!!
Miss Thorn, is a 32 year old nurse at the local hospital, that has been shut down and abandoned for over a year. No other personnel remains in this facility and certainly not any patients, alive patients for that part.
She tends to roam around the hospital, taking care of patients, that died long ago. She has brainwashed herself into thinking that these patients are alive and need treatment. She isn’t as stable and sane ever since the hospital shut down, as she seems to have completely descended into madness.
Sometimes she has even attacked and kidnapped trespassers in the hospital, infecting them with poison so that she can take care of them. Only to later infect them again once recovered. Miss Thorn has gone lenghts far beyond her limit to fulfill her ”duty”. She is under the influence of Raphael, the ”archangel” of healing. He keeps her alive so that she can continue her duties, but he is probably one of the reasons she is no longer herself.
Uncensored below cut
Tumblr media
If I were to make a game of this, she would be the first antagonist. The game starts in the hospital she’s in, with the protagonist/player waking up in a hospital bed after a 6 year long coma. Player goes through a few puzzles and challanges, without her being a threat in the start. After a while she discovers you, chasing you down, demanding to get back to bed and take your pills. There are more challenges, until she is lured to a pit of needles, that she then falls into. She’s not dead yet though, chasing you with needles as she’s slowly dying from the ones pierced into her flesh. But eventually she dies shortly before the player escapes, because of her injuries and infections from the needles.
That first part would be called ”Trypanophobia”, as it will have a lot of needles 😭
I’m planning to make the other parts phobia themed as well but I’m not sure what phobias to go with yet.

Haunted House that is not bitter or vengeful, it has lived a good and long life and hosted many families over many generations, now it lays abandoned and decaying but content. However, like a whalefall, it attracts countless spirits like scavengers, slowly picking away at its remains, many harmless to the last few people to live there but others less so. As the player character in this hypothetical horror game, do you welcome them into your new/old home, or try to drive them away? No moral judgement, it’s your house after all.

As Halloween approaches I probably will be drawing a lot more of these 3 :)
Also I drew a background!!! Again! What is going on loll?! Though honestly I think it's just because I feel way more comfortable drawing on my new tablet so it's making me want to try more things.

Forgot to clean the sketch properly. Eh. Doesn't matter, it's fine. Who cares! That's Katna Jenny. And the other guy.
Additional information:
"Pre-Disease"... Well, it's only kind of. Because Melvin kept ignoring the signs, he only found out about the Disease inside him months after the first symptoms. He is the type of person who can stubbornly believe anything other than a few specific problems (his alcoholism, his lack of concern for his health) to be the source of all his sorrows. Like the fact that his name is Melvin. It's not much better than Desmond, but he would still ask for strangers to call him Vince. Generally a bit inconsiderate guy. Has a bit of unexplainable charisma along with paranoia predictable for a person like this. He might challenge Nick to see who can be the worst backseat gamer. But he has no superiority complex, he's just a judgemental ass. Talking about games, no he is not interested in programming games. He likes software and websites that people use without the constant need to enjoy the experience. Mr. Tanjung likes editting Wikipedia articles and learning too much about 4chan terminology and symbols. Ex-r/atheism member when he was still in college.
Katna Jenny died almost a decade ago. The facial expression you see on her face in this reference sheet is as worried as she could get, probably. Liked gardening, hunting, and fishing. Cleaning, actually not so much. She was just too fine with anything to have hated doing his underpaid and overworked job. His dead wife was a friend of the Inn's owner, that's how he got here at first. Stoner. Other interests included "creepy" old vinyls. A lot of classical music with the occasional hard rock. Wanted to smell like old books but ended up smelling like citrus bleach. Spent a lot of time just hanging around because she had no idea what to do at times. As you can tell, she did not particularly care. It was all just fine. This made her somewhat popular in the hotel, but nothing like a social butterfly. Was likely a good person to vent and talk to. But I don't know. I think she did prefer to leave when her time came. Quality of time spent is more important than the amount of time, after all.

Chunky Munkys is a horror game concept based on the Teletubbies. I've been trying to think of a horror concept that fitted into the trend of turning innocent things terrifying for a while now.
I didn't have the Teletubbies idea at first because Slendytubbies already existed, but then I realized that was just a parody game with all the exact same characters.
I don't have much lore for the game at the moment. I'll keep you all updated for when I do. But until then, here's concept art of a red Chunky Munky.

another stupid horror game premise:
it’s literally not even a horror game the protagonist just has anxiety. It’s very very short but made to create suspense
possible examples of what it might do:
constant ominous background music, the music cuts out when you enter certain rooms at certain times
occasionally the edges of the screen start getting darker, it continues to get darker until you leave the Room. When you come back in, it’s normal
You have the option to inspect objects up close and sometimes they’re just a little uncanny.
Your character is too scared to leave the house, they will also sometimes make comments about how something is dangerous, to stay away from windows, etc
Literally everything has a [YES] [NO] option select, on random occasions you get hit with an [ARE YOU SURE?]
New mechanics get introduced every day! They include fun things like running, hiding, or more menial things with warnings like ‘careful! when doing this task you will be left vulnerable’
The choices you make cause vague undefined meters to increase and decrease and it’s incredibly hard to Intuit what they mean
Bam! You’re medicated! However every morning when you’re given the choice to take your meds you get hit with the ‘take the pills?’ ‘Are you sure?’ ‘ . . .’ ‘You take the pills.’ Taking the pills or not does actually change the game! It’s less scary when you do take them, but there are occasional hints that what you’re experiencing isn’t quite reality.
Would this actually work? Probably not very well but I think it’s really fun idea to play with (also I’m sorry if this has been done before gavvdvd)

Arsentropolis masterpost
Tumblr media
2D dystopian horror game concept
Tumblr media
This is the masterpost for my current project; Arsentropolis. It’s my point and click horror game concept that takes place in a sinister dystopia cut off from the world. It’s mainly religious horror but also contains a lot of body horror and weird stuff, along with uh …medical horror? Idk what it’s called but it refers to surgery, needles and disease and such.
I’m working on this all by myself at the moment, though I really hope I’ll have a game development team a few years in. Some credit and special thanks to my friend for helping me with opinions and decisions… (you know who you are 🧍)
Here’s all the posts with content and information.
More content will be added so stay tuned :D

Horror game based in a death game but the whole thing is you desperately arguing your case as to why you're not the insider while protag-kun or whoever tries to needle everyone into voting for you to die. Naturally as you fail in more new ways, what defenses you do throw up are demolished by protag-kun, but they give you information to work into your case next time And eventually, if you exhaust every option and play your cards right, there is one singular solitary ending where you turn the tides and get protag-kun voted out... Only to be stabbed in the back by the actual insider right after.

Was Arsentropolis majorly inspired by something? Or was there something that inspired the idea to create something like it? Just in general, what's the story behind its creation, how it started, if that's not too much to ask.
I’m actually so glad you asked this cuz I hoped someone was gonna ask smth like that!! 😭
Arsentropolis is inspired by a LOT of things… some stuff I don’t even remember 💀
I’m not sure what the biggest inspo is, but maybe little nightmares? It kind of just has the same kind of vibe as little nightmares 2, more than the first game even tho I haven’t even finished playing the second one. I’m just gonna list all of the medias that inspired me cuz they’re so many 😭
Little nightmares
Mandela catalogue
Fran bow
Faith: the unholy trinity
Nightmare before christmas
Little missfortune
Silent hill (movie)
Autodale
Saw
A whole lot other random stuff…
(Edited cuz I forgot some stuff 😭)
This whole thing just started with a random sketch, that I later somehow turned into a whole universe.
Tumblr media
I can’t remember what I was thinking but Alcatraz really just stole my heart and inspired me to make even more in a similar style. I’ve just been building onto it with random ideas now, but I don’t have a complete plot yet.

One of the occupational hazards of being so preoccupied with game design as a discipline is that sometimes I'll have dreams that are just some unknown force explaining an idea for a game to me, and last night I dreamed what is possibly the most obnoxious mechanical premise for a game I've ever come up with.
In brief, it was a traditional JRPG-style game with an atypical levelling-up scheme. Rather than gaining XP or levelling up at milestones, party members would grow in power by finding and absorbing or ingesting these little extradimensional parasites, represented in the dream as small grub- or fetus-like creatures with smiling humanoid faces. These parasites would be found as treasure and enemy drops, and could freely be given to any party member, except for the player character; the player character alone was unable to use them for Plot Reasons, and was entirely reliant on equipment to grow in power instead.
Absorbing a parasite both granted permanent stat boosts and unlocked weird psychic powers. However, they'd also cause progressive personality changes in the party members to which they were assigned, reflected by changes in dialogue and interactions, and eventually in granting or denying access to particular side quests. This function of the parasites was undocumented, and would likely go unnoticed by the player on their initial playthrough, as they'd level up as they went and would never see the unmodified dialogues.
A further wrinkle is that this effect was mediated by the game's expected progression. Farming parasites and "over-levelling" beyond where the game expected you to be would accelerate the personality changes, while going deliberately under-levelled would slow them (i.e., by giving your party members more time to acclimate to having bugs in their brains); like the personality changes themselves, the existence of these hidden modifiers would not be hinted at to the player.
If you spent a long enough stretch of the game sufficiently over-levelled, you'd eventually receive a non-standard game over where your party would betray, kill, and eat the player character. Furthermore, this non-standard ending had a deliberate "eclipse phase" whereby it would wait for a while after you hit the required threshold before pulling the trigger, in particular making sure that you've saved at least once, leaving your save file irrevocably fucked.
As a final twist, the non-standard game over would only trigger after resting; though the game's mechanics would heavily incentivise resting on a regular basis, it would theoretically be possible to massively over-level your party on purpose and avoid the bad ending simply by never resting again, potentially as a speedrun strat. However, doing so would alter the game's ending to replace the usual final boss with a hopeless solo boss fight against your own massively over-levelled party.
