First Impressions

Here’s a little pov doodle of what was going on in both Sun & Moon’s heads upon meeting the new grave digger, Y/N in the first few chapters. There’s absolutely nothing to worry about. I’m torturing ben again

another installment of my rarely-updated lemony snicket au, in which Ben has been experimented on by a mysterious man called The Monocle, resulting in him becoming the host to a terrifying tentacled eldritch monster. The Monocle has tried to perform this experiment many times on many children, and Ben is the most promising so far. As a reward, he gets to be tied to a chair in this shady closet while the Monocle comes after him with a scalpel! How exciting!

I didn't want to put this in the reblog chain, but I do NEED to talk more about Doctor or Nurse Sam. Honestly, just medical field, Sam. Sam, who grew up with a sickly little sister and lived in a household that cared so, so little, choosing to dedicate her life to helping others and taking care of them. But also Sam, whose dad is a famous murderer and who always gets seen as a murderer herself just because of her family, subverting everyone's expectations and going in the opposite direction.

Sam choosing that violence may have been her past, but won't be her future.

And it's not easy at all, she definitely wasn't the best student but she tried so hard and gave everything up just so she could do this not just for herself but also for her sister. So she can finally see herself as good and worthy and deserving.

And then the angle of Sam struggling with her substance abuse and people not believing in her but still holding on so tight because in the end as long as Tara is proud of her it will all have been worth it.

I also think she would do great in peds by the way. She might not think she would do great with kids that aren't her sister, but she just has that caretaker instinct, and she's strong and safe and kids just love her.

Previous. Doctor Sam who goes on to specialise in paediatrics is so special. She spent so much time in the hospital as a kid, looking after Tara. She knew how scary it was, how a good doctor could make all the difference, especially when nobody else cared. Her sister needed help, and she never got it at home, she never got it at school. Nobody helped, but the doctors did. Sam's always admired them. And when she went off the wagon, when she overdosed, it was the doctors who spoke to her, who helped her get better, who told her she was better than this. They're the ones who made her believe she could actually be someone, if she wanted to.

That's so beautiful, I love it. Sam worked hard. She worked so hard. The only thing she's ever wanted more in her life than this, was for Tara to be safe and happy. But Tara can't be safe and happy in that home, and Sam can't take her away. But by becoming a doctor? Sam can do that. She can give Tara the life she deserves. And if she finds some happiness of her own along the way? Well maybe she deserves it too.

They told her she would never be a doctor, never work in a hospital, not with her substance issues. But some of those doctors damn near raised her and Tara, and they fought for her. Regular checks, she would have to maintain sobriety. It would follow her through her entire life, that shadowed past. But Sam was ready. She was done trying to run, she was going to face it and she was going to beat it. She was going to do something good with her life. No matter what people think of her, no matter what anyone said.
