Tidy CAS 2.1 - CAS category organizers
Tumblr media
Last update: Version 2.1 / December 11, 2023
💜 How does it work?
This CC creates basically an empty CAS item with the whole purpose to mark when a new category starts. This can be useful if you have a lot of skin details for example and don't know which ones work together as EA has not separated the parts (e.g. forehead crease, freckles) into separate categories. This CC is not meant to be applied to a Sim and has no texture or model.

Week 7: From an Iceman to the Kardashian: How body modification evolved through the ages.
#MDA20009
Wait... Haven't we been doing this for a looong time?
For as long as mankind has existed, we have been constantly on the lookout for ways to enhance our physical appearance, whether it be via tattoos, piercing or digital filters and photoshop.
The oldest currently known instance of body modification belongs to Ötzi the Iceman, an over 5,300 years old mummified body found in the Alps' Ötzi Valley in 1991. His body was home to sixty-one carbon pigment marks on the abdomen, lower back, lower legs, and left wrist. These tattoos seem to indicate that the man was perhaps of significance status, or was involved in some kind of ritual (Samadelli et al. 2015).
Tumblr media
The next step for body modification in ancient times was body piercing. One of the first documented case of nose piercing actually came from the Bible. As written in the Book of Genesis (24:22): "When the camels had finished drinking, the man took out a gold nose ring weighing a beka and two gold bracelets weighing ten shekels." The practice of men gifting gold nose jewelry to their spouse is a tradition that is still practiced to this day by the Bedouin tribes.
After tattoos and piercing, more extreme forms of body modification started appearing all over the world, with notable mentions being Chinese foot binding and Myanmar's Kayan tribe neck rings.
Tumblr media
Besides ceremonial and aesthetics purposes, plastic surgery also emerged as a popular form of body modification. Reasons for getting an operation range from for beauty purposes to getting rid of unwanted features stemming from disabilities.
Now, in the modern day and age, body modification is everywhere, from tattoos and piercings to nose jobs and digital filters (The topic of next week's post 😉).
Even though it originally started as a way for people to express themselves, as well as for ceremonial purposes and medical ones, body modification has gained a bad rap in recent years, due to the influx of influencers posting pictures and videos of their body on social media. While there's nothing inherently wrong with doing this, the things influencers post are often overly sexualized, to the point where the term "Sexualized Labour" can be applied.
Influencers and Sexualized Labour
Sexualized labour refers to work that involves a sexual or sexualized element, where individuals may use their sexuality, sexual appeal, or sexualized attributes as part of their job performance.
In the context of digital culture, sexualized labour can manifest in various forms, such as influencers on social media platforms like Instagram using their sexualized aesthetic to attract attention and monetize their online presence (Drenten, Gurrieri & Tyler 2019).
Specifically, on Instagram, sexualized labour is performed in various ways:
Connective Labour: Female influencers engage in connective labour to mobilize their sexualized aesthetic and emotional labour on Instagram. This involves tagging numerous profiles, using hashtags, and creating affiliations to attract attention, gain followers, and increase likes without immediate financial compensation.
Affiliation-based Influencer Labour: Some influencers, known as "hopefuls," provide free advertising for brands by subscribing to culturally prescribed female body ideals to attract attention and potential affiliate brands. This labour is sexually objectifying and adds value to economies without direct monetary incentives 12.
Access-based Influencer Labour: Influencers, referred to as "boasters," may have informal affiliations with brands and receive branded freebies, product trials, or coupon codes. They boast about these affiliations to capitalize on brand attention, even though they may not receive meaningful monetary compensation.
Performance of Sexualized Labour: Female influencers on Instagram engage in aesthetic labour, emotional labour, and a "porn chic" sexualization to attract attention and monetize their online presence. This involves crafting specific body poses, gestures, and stylistic choices that align with existing cultural norms of sexualization.
Self-Commodification Continuum: Influencers navigate a continuum of self-commodification, ranging from non-monetized and low attention practices to monetized and high attention practices. This continuum reflects the ways in which influencers leverage their sexualized labour for different levels of attention and potential financial rewards.
These practices highlight the complex dynamics of sexualized labour in digital culture, where influencers strategically use their online presence to engage with audiences, attract brands, and navigate the attention economy on platforms like Instagram.
Furthermore, sexualized labour in digital culture can also be categorized as below:

Week 7 - How the media can affect your body and health
With the rapid and constant development of technologies and beauty standards, it is no surprise that online/real-life body modification has received some significant attention in recent years. Both online platforms and the pharmaceutical industry have allowed consumers to transform their bodies in the way that could help them gain attention.
Body modification is the activity of uploading and promoting different modifications to the human body on sites including Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube. It includes a wide range of purposeful changes, which include tattoos, piercings, scarification, hair coloring, body painting, cosmetic procedures, and even more extreme alterations such as implants or removing certain body parts. Body alteration could possibly be done digitally using Photoshop applications. Through an app, people may change their look by adjusting their physical form, size, skin tone, facial characteristics, or adding accessories such as tattoos and piercings.
If we look at social media nowadays, we'll see that most of the influencers and celebrities we know and love frequently edit their photos before publishing them. Social media lacks reality because it allows users to digitally manipulate photographs by applying filters or lowering body weight (McGovern et al., 2022).
Aside from having negative effects on our bodies, changing bodily parts may also have an impact on our mental health and lead to physical disorders. Mental health is critical for everyone; however, modifying our bodies may sometimes alter how we feel about ourselves since, rather than feeling good about ourselves, we are left with additional anxieties, which can lead to harmful behavior and medical attention. Why do we still feel uneasy when we make those changes? We are still uneasy since altering our body image and look does not compensate for the reality that our self-esteem, no matter what we do, is lost if we never sought it in the first place. You may have developed poor self-esteem as a result of the obvious differences you notice in others, and this might have an impact on your identity (Diamond, 2021).
In conclusion, we are able to see that body modification is utilized not only to appear a specific way, but also to create a perspective of how you should look and what you need to do in order to be like everyone else. We must recognize that body alteration is being employed for cosmetic and sexual purposes, which has influenced society to believe that it is acceptable. It's crucial to keep in mind that everyone is designed to be unique.

Design II - Project 2: Redesigning Nature
A sunflower was the element of nature I redesigned. I made the flower come to life by viewing it from the perspective of a tattoo, as opposed to having it simply sit in ink, I brought it to life. By deciding where the tattoo will go, it reveals the person's personality. The idea is to be able to identify your personality from your tattoo. How come a sunflower? By having the title of a happy flower equates to a yellow happy face, which humans often associate themselves with. The reason I say this is because the automatic response when someone asks how are you? is good. Since most people are not fine, it is a fake persona to appear fine. Everyone is okay if they all walk around with sunflowers. Knowing where it is positioned and what this signifies about your personality gives it reality.
The project's main applications were Indesign and Photoshop. I took photographs of the body parts and the sunflower. I converted the same flower into a png format so that it could be applied to the body parts and appear realistic. Indesign made the project into a magazine / informative document.
I developed my idea by using a variety of design principles, one of them being emphasis. I utilised it to demonstrate the various components of the sunflower and how its physical characteristics contribute to it. The three images of various body parts with sunflowers on them served as a visual example of design proportion. It indicates that there is a coherence between them that gives the design an aesthetic. The photographs are displayed with a structured context as the design makes use of a hierarchy. Since the project is in black and white and the sunflower is yellow, it immediately draws the eye as the use of colour in contrast was a key element in the design. Additionally, the use of white space is effective in tying the design together since it adds a sense of clarity and simplicity that is pleasing to the eye. The project includes a number of design principles that make redesigning nature functional.

Photoshop will save the world with its advanced tools to smooth out skin and hair, optimize body proportions and emphasize some details. Of course, what you see during the shoot with your eyes and what you get after the photo session is not the same thing. And then it occurs to you that they didn’t really suck that much during the actual shoot? Photo by Mario Mayer That then allows you to see all the texture and tone underneath. Is it something that often happens to you? You just sit and keep on looking through your photos on the computer screen trying to take a closer look at your full-size pictures. Well to see through the red, you change the layer blending mode to color. The trouble of course is that, right now, red is everywhere, and red is covering up the image. And let's say we want to try a nice bright red. And when you click on this option, you then have the ability to sample a color. How do we do that? Well one way to do that is to click on the adjustment layer icon down there, and to choose the option which is called, "solid color." You can find that up here at the top of the list. Alright, well let's begin by saying that, with this photograph, we want to add a little bit of color to the cheeks. The first technique involves using an adjustment layer called solid color, and the second one will look at how we can change color, using hue saturation. In this movie, I want to share with you two techniques for working with makeup or makeup color.

A The Breakdown
SOooooooooo I just realised the colour of the screen I’ve been designing on isn’t set to standard colours... Basically I just designed a kid’s book the colour of puke....yay for me.
(edit.... or is it!?! I don’t know what correct colour is anymoooorrreeee....apparently the puke screen was just set to muted colours.....ach)
It’s too late in the game for me to worry about changing it all so ill just post a shitty screen-on screen photo here from my cellphone of what I’m seeing on this stupid dumb wrong screen so that you can see that my colour scheme is just 70′s Caravan Diner Menu, not puke/baby shit.

I’m a bit shit at drawing from my head so I started with an Image borrowed (stolen) from KellerAC on DeviantArt  as a bottom layer (low opacity) to trace over with the Pen Tool
I start with one layer for eavch component of the burger
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Untill I have all by burg layers drawn in simplke form. (Stroke is 2, and I’vew used that over the whole booklet to keep things flowing)
Tumblr media
Next I duplicate each food layer so I have four of each. And I can rename them all based on what they will be
Outline
Base Image
Shadow
Highlight
For the shadow, I use the techniques recorded in the Penguin Tutorial Blog.
Pentool
Intersect Pathfinder Tool
make new swatch colour by adjusting fill colour of object to a darker shade
Change Oppacity to Muultiply, and slide down to around 30%
Tumblr media
For the Highlight layer, It’s a similar process except the colour needs to be lighter, and the opacity to around 20% (normal opacity settings, not multiply)
I do this to all of my foodie layers
I add a face with eyes and sesemi seeds (I meant to shade and highlight the seeds too but ran out of time)
My Layers look like this untill i collapse them doiwn
Tumblr media
Pretty chuffed with this little guy, I’ve never nailed shadow and highlight before so woohoo!
Oh god these colours are truly horrible But I love my maggot. They cute.
Tumblr media
I start with a Stunning Photo from the Science Photo Library and again, open it up as a baSE LAYER WITH LOW OPACITY
FFor my outline layer I have all the eclipses on the same layer and use the Pathfinder TRIM tool
Tumblr media
Then each eclipse has iit’s own layer to make it easier...it’s probably not easier...
Chuck on the shadow and highlights by locking all the other layers as i work
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Again I start with an image as a bottom layer to trace from
This one is from and Article called Eel At Home wreitten by Akil Ravi at https://www.snipettemag.com/eel-at-home/
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Pretty terrible trace really, but I ran out of time to tidy it up and it was going to be made way smaller anyway
Traced from this picture

Made Greyscale in Photoshow, and Levels adjusted for high contrast black and white image.
Then magic wand tool sequence for getting rid of the background

Tumblr media
Again I have a small rage about the colours....and don’t do anything about it

Tattoo Art Training Programs
Tumblr media
If you are interested in tattoo art and want to become a professional artist, you should consider completing a training program. There are many different options, from formal art school to apprenticeships. Tattoo training should include everything from learning the history of the art form to learning the most common techniques. In addition, you should have a good understanding of the ethical and legal issues related to tattoos. Listed below are some of the best programs in tattoo art. You can get more info here.
While a tattoo art training program can help you learn how to tattoo people, it does not teach you how to draw. Tattoos have been used for centuries by cultures from around the world. During your training, you'll learn about the history of tattooing as well as important changes in the industry. You'll also study the various tattoo styles, each representing different values, time periods, and cultures. You'll then have practice drawing your own tattoo style on paper before you try it on a human body. Learn more about tattoo school, browse this website here.
Throughout your training, you'll be expected to work closely with a mentor and complete a contract with them. A contract will outline the responsibilities of both parties and protect you from legal issues should you not meet your contractual obligations. It should state how long you'll be apprenticed, how much you'll be paid, what you'll be expected to learn from your mentor, and how long you'll work as a tattoo artist once your apprenticeship is over. Regardless of your level of experience, a good apprenticeship will provide you with a variety of opportunities for career advancement.
In addition to a quality training program, you should also make sure that you're confident in your abilities. In particular, tattoo art training programs should include CPR certification and Bloodborne Pathogen certification. You'll also need to learn about sanitation and cross-contamination, as well as skin biology. It's important to learn about these topics, since skin is the medium in which you work. If you're serious about learning how to tattoo, you should take the time to get the training you need.
Lastly, you can take classes at a community college or an art university. Although they're not as comprehensive as a tattoo training program, they can give you a solid foundation of the principles of graphic design. In this way, you'll understand how to translate designs from the computer screen to human skin. These classes can also help you get mentors and an apprenticeship in a tattoo shop. There are many ways to obtain the knowledge you need to create great tattoos. Take a look at this link https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tattoo for more information.
In addition to taking classes, you should build a tattoo portfolio. A portfolio shows customers and mentors your best work. A portfolio also helps clients decide on your style and level of expertise. The portfolio should include a minimum of 25 drawings, and preferably a few hundred. Include black and grey work in your portfolio. Black and grey artwork shows your artistry best. Don't place photoshops of tattoos in your portfolio. When you're applying for apprenticeships, you should include examples of your black and grey work.

OK, I’m gonna take a minute here while getting my brain re-set to sit back down and start in on the manuscript again. And I want to preface this all with a BIGASS disclaimer: I DO NOT THINK OR CONSIDER THAT THE POSTER WHO PUT THESE TAGS ON A REBLOG FROM ME WISHED ME ANY KIND OF ILL WHATSOEVER. IN FACT, I’M PRETTY SURE THEY WERE TRYING TO PAY ME A COMPLIMENT.
That said, I’ve been seeing this more and more. On here, on twitter, on Fb, everywhere. And it’s happening more and more as I post about more than just part of what I do as a dayjob, and as I’m trying to leverage back into doing more than just leather. ...y’all do get that my leatherwork and maskmaking is not the sum and total of me as a person, right? I mean, this is not meant as a humblebrag, or any kind of brag, just a resume list, because I’m all over the fucking map: In high school, it was debate and drama. Even ended up at State and Nationals for those to some degree.
After that, in between and during college, it was working haunted houses, studying english, history, and theatre, and then putting together a theatresports team that ran for two years (we were groaningly terrible, exactly the kind of humor geeky/nerdy theatre kids put together and it was awesome and these days I cringe at some of the jokes we used to do. I think our biggest audience was maybe thirty people.) Then it was moving here, going to Cornish for theatre, summarily dropping out of Cornish after a semester of realizing there was no way I could afford to stay in school and survive without being homeless on part time minimum wage, not to mention lots of disagreement with the whole program. Cue being a twentysomething in seattle in the early aughts- doing lots of small theatre, joining a Rocky Horror troupe, weird citylife adventures and a lot of shite underpaid jobs. Also figuring out I was queer in there. Leather didn’t happen until after I’d met my fiancee and we’d moved in together, when I got hit with a seven-month stint of unemployment, and with loads of boredom on my hands, decided I’d try and figure out how to make a leather mask or two from some spare hide she had lying around from making her own armor for the SCA. Which took a lot of attempts. Fast forward a couple of years, I was still working shit-paying jobs, we had a kid on the way, and couldn’t afford early daycare so we could both work. so I stayed home with the kids since I made less out of the two of us. Still don’t regret that. Also meant I launched a website and started slowly getting more and more professional and doing cons and stuff. Of course, doing a site means you have to do images, which meant learning photoshop, and, well, I also went ahead and learned how to draw, collage, etc in there. After a few years of photoshop, leather, and websites at home, and after going back to work at a bank doing image archival work on documents, I ended up working in a gallery as a dayjob, scanning and archiving paintings and photos for reproduction. which meant learning repro, art, art history, and putting it all together meant I was suddenly making digital art in my off time as well. And then kid number two and the ‘08 real estate crash happened almost simultaneously in reverse order. I was home with new kid again, because my job, and my entire department type, information services, pretty much ceased to exist from the corporate world. And since then it’s been working on self promoting and doing my own business since because fuck working for other people, its never worked well.
So yeah, I do leather, it’s a big part of my life, because anything is when you’ve done it for 15+ years. But that said, I’ve been fighting burnout with it for two years now, and been trying to leverage myself out of it the whole time. Which means fighting with the “but you’re the leather guy!” thing in my own head a LOT. I am not just a leatherworks guy. I write. A bunch. Next book’s almost done, and I skipped the history bit where I was freelancing for a few rpg designers- no, probably not anything you’ve seen. I DO VISUAL ART which you’ve all seen like mad if you’ve been following for any amount of time. I’d act if there were enough spoons, time and energy in the day. There isn’t, and I’m a cheesey fuckin’ actor anyways. I tattoo- that’s a new one picked up since quarantine, but I’v ebeen trying to make both of my hands less dumb, so picking up actual physical drawing and tattooing has been a thing. I still also craft all sorts of props and other bits when I want/get hired to. Because WHY NOT. But I’m a lot more than a leather guy, and I fight with myself every time I see stuff about me being just the leather guy. Jeebus, that was a wall of text. OK, I’m maybe also needing to vent a lot more, find time to get into therapy, and deal with issues on a healthy basis. Maybe find time and people irl who see me as a whole-ass person now that my vaccine’s almost finished marinating. Yeesh. Sorry for the screed, folks, but the ‘don’t fucking delete shit’ rule applies. It’s here, so I may as well share. But yes, your friend who does more than leather is trying to get seen as your friend who does more than just leather. Make sense?

Anime Postcard And PFP Earning Secrets
It is no doubt that the anime PFP (printed front pocket) has already captivated the attention of a large number of collectors today. This is not surprising anymore since it has been constantly featured in anime TV series and movies as well as in comics and other merchandise. These days, it can be seen on different types of clothing for men, women, and children. Since it is very popular, you can also see a lot of its imitations. This article will introduce to you some of the more notable imitations that you can find on the market today.
There are actually two types of anime pfp aesthetic that are available in the market today: the printed and the plain type. The printed type usually features an illustration of an anime character that is placed in front of the pocket's contents. On the other hand, the plain style usually features the main character in the illustration and the background scenery.
The designs of this anime aesthetic have been inspired by several different anime series including Mobile Suit Gundam, Death Note, and Evangelion. It may sound ridiculous at first but they actually have been based on very creative and sophisticated ideas. In fact, one of the main reasons why it has become so popular is because of how it manages to combine two different elements into one. For example, you can see the notebook and pen that have been incorporated into this type of style.
Anime PFP Emo style is also inspired by several different factors. For one thing, the main character is very heavily tattooed in the back, sides, and chest area of the image. In addition to that, his hair has been styled really short in the front and long in the back. Because of this, the overall aesthetic best anime pfp emo style creates is very unique.
This anime aesthetics actually follows several different rules that are used in other types of anime aesthetics. For one thing, the colors of the character are pink and purple. Also, his eyes are light pink and he wears a heavy coat over his hoodie. His clothing choices include casual tops and sweatshirts.
This anime profile depicts a very unique aspect of this anime style. For one, the person's face is almost completely covered up with a heavy, over-sized shirt. His hair is done up in pigtails with extensions, and his eyes are painted in dark shades of pink. The images anime pFP Emo style uses to create this sort of aesthetic art aesthetic include flower images, flower arrangements, and cute drawings of people or objects.
In addition to using a lot of pink and light purple for this anime aesthetic, another thing that characterizes the images anime pFP Emo style is the use of loud noises. For example, you will see a lot of robot and sword images. These are typically followed by small explosions. In contrast to the cute and girly images of the anime aesthetics, you will also see images that are angry, and violent.
If you want to learn more about anime pfp, then it would be helpful to get an image from the anime pFP aesthetic. You can also check out other images from this anime style on my blog. If you are not sure about how to apply this type of aesthetic, then you can check out this article about applying this type of image to your anime social media profile. With this image, you can get better ideas about the images anime pFP Emo style profiles use to click here single point vs two point sling.
There is also a pFP freetoedit anime image available for download. It is a Photoshop file. If you are interested in learning how to change the color of your anime profile, then this Photoshop file may help you with that. The colors of this image have been prepared by professional graphic designer Bill Dawson. He has also prepared the cover art and all the other decorations that go with this image. So you can download this image free of charge, and it is advisable to have this image if you are planning to change the colors of your anime profile to make it more interesting and appealing.
If you want to add more excitement and intensity to your anime page, you should consider using a black and white pFP aesthetic. A pFP black and white image usually contains bright images, and is not really suitable for very young children because its effect is not that strong. However, if you want your child to look more mature and sophisticated, you can try to use a pFP black and white image. Again, this is only suitable for persons who are above the age of thirteen.
You can also try to use an image with gray background, which can be downloaded from the internet for free. The pFP anime art aesthetic has been prepared by the noted illustrator, Yuusuke Tozawa. This particular pFP image contains some of Tozawa's most famous designs. You can download this particular image free of charge and it is advisable for persons who are planning to create a matching anime fanart page. In fact, the Tozawa illustration is one of the most popular and commonly used illustrations in a lot of anime art visual novels and anime film projects.

Tag Game
Thanks for the tag @diemetzgermeisterin ! 😊❤️
20 random FACTS about yourself that may surprise people.
1. do you make your bed? Haha no. I used to when it was just me but now that I’m married I have given up haha, so it’s always a mess.
2. what’s your favourite number? 3
3. what’s your job? I’m a dietitian for patients with kidney disease on dialysis, so I teach them about foods and help them with their medications. I can’t say it’s my true calling but I love teaching and helping people - and my patients really need a lot of help - so it is very rewarding (aside from the awful paperwork - American healthcare blows). Sorry *gets off soapbox*... 😅
4. if you could, would you go back to school? My first instinct was to say “NO!” since I had such an awful experience in graduate school (sometimes I regret sticking with it but what’s done is done 😔). If I did though it would be to take a class in painting, Photoshop or digital art. This fandom has reignited my creativity and I love it! ❤️
5. can you parallel park? Yes but I don’t do it very often.
6. a job you had which would surprise people? For four years during college I was a waitress at a sushi restaurant. Here are some amusing highlights: the kitchen staff only spoke Chinese so by necessity I learned to speak some Chinese (sauce on the side, to go, no broccoli, etc), I witnessed a fight where a customer broke a large beer bottle over another customers head and we had to call the police, and I actually found my therapist through some regular customers there (they were receptionists at a clinic and at the time I had no idea how one finds a therapist).
7. do you think aliens are real? I agree with @diemetzgermeisterin that it is highly unlikely that we are alone in the vast universe. But do I believe all the sightings people have are real? That I can’t say...? (But I do absolutely love the X-Files - kind of unrelated but whatever, it’s my tag thing, I can say what I want lol).
8. can you drive a manual car? Yes but it’s not a smooth ride and I might stall occasionally. But I feel hella cool when I do it right. 😎
9. what’s your guilty pleasure? Idk if these are guilty pleasures bc I don’t really feel guilty about them but they are what comes to mind: reading/writing fanfic, staying up late and sleeping in, eating more dessert than I should, drinking diet cola, keeping the Christmas tree up as long as possible, Baileys and Kaluha in my coffee...? 🤷🏻‍♀️
10. tattoos? I don’t have any. I’m not opposed to them but it’s not something I’m really wanting either.
11. favourite colour? I love lots of colors but I suppose I would say dark red, pink, purple, and green? Unless is rainbow or iridescent a color?
12. things people do that drive you crazy? Lying, being disrespectful, making fun of people, being condescending, chewing with mouth open close to me, driving on the shoulder/cutting in at the last minute, having two sets of audio going at the same time (like TV + computer - I usually can’t think until one is turned off).
13. any phobias? Drowning, bees/wasps.
14. favourite childhood sport? Kickball or Prisoner in elementary. When I was older I wasn’t really into sports but I did take ice skating and tennis lessons for awhile.
15. do you talk to yourself? Oh yes, helps me organize my thoughts.
16. what movie do you adore? The first one that comes to mind is Pacific Rim. It’s just so entertaining. The music is amazing too. I’ve watched it more times than I can count. It kinda makes sense bc I used to watch Gundam Wing and Evangelion. Oh and fun fact I plan to write a Hannigram/Pacific Rim AU fic someday 😉
17. do you like doing puzzles? Sometimes. If there is one in front of me I’m compelled to, but I don’t usually seek them out (that applies to pretty much all types of puzzles - crossword, jigsaw, sudoku, etc). My favorite puzzles are brain teaser word puzzles kinda like this - they’re so frustrating until you get it but they’re so clever! My grandma used to save them for me from her class, we both enjoyed them.
18. favourite kind of music? I don’t think I have a favorite kind per se. I like many kinds of music.  My Spotify playlist this month has The Neighbuorhood, Eivør, Above and Beyond, Jay-Z, SYML, Fallout Boy, Jimmy Eat World, Metallica, Sofi Tukker, Panic! at the Disco, Linkin Park, Maren Morris, My Chemical Romance, Billie Eilish, and Taylor Swift, as well as other random songs. So idk?? 🤷🏻‍♀️ It’s always changing.
19. tea or coffee? Coffee for sure. I wish I liked tea better - I drink it sometimes but I much prefer coffee. Flavored coffee is my favorite - raspberry mocha...peppermint mocha...etc.
20. the first thing you remember you wanted to be when you grew up? I remember as a child I wanted to be a graphic artist (inspired by Holly on Under the Umbrella Tree).
I’ll tag people but you really don’t have to do it, only if you want to: @madsmeetsmisha @balanced-demons @wolfnotadevil @fleet-commander-6710221b @clehjett @murasaki69 @c0keandwh1skey @jellybeanjustin @misstiana7 @breathingblue @some-sick-deja-vu @ittlebitz @zombieutopia @winterfalconx @xithisreconlion @as-cold-as-her-sorrow @mercurywaterblue and anyone who wants to 😁

How do you apply the tattoos?
Hey there! I don't how to explain this thoroughly so i'll add a video reference;;
undefined
youtube
(( Play it at 2x speed ))
Layer sequence:
-- Skin Shadow [clipped] ( mine was already merged to the skin so that's my oopsie ) -- Tattoo [clipped] Base Color (Skin)
First resize the tattoo on the arm (or any part of the body)
remove excess tattoo
use the Mesh Tool to move the point along the curves of the muscle, keep adjusting via mesh tool till it looks natural
after placing the tattoo, adjust the blending option of the layer ( you can use any like multiply, color burn etc. ) in this case i used linear burn then adjust the opacity.
next is the bounce light on the skin, the curve area/bump would have lighter tone since the light is hitting that area. Mask the layer then use an airbrush with the opacity lowered to mask the curve/bump area
This is optional but you can add pores (with opacity lowered a bit) to add depth :) {{ You can use airbrush with dots to achieve the pores or download a brush xD )
aaaand that's it :) I used Clipstudio for this but You can use Photoshop too with this method, PS has a Mesh tool too under the Move tool
If there's any question feel free to message me o/

Tumblr media
Thank you Anon 1!  Anon 2, I can show you some of my process!  I always feel like I’m making this shit up as I go along... But a lot of artist I talk to feel the same way so maybe we’re all in the same boat. All I know is I want to use so much purple it hurts, so that’s where it all begins for me.
Tumblr media
First off, you need to have a least a basic knowledge of the color wheel/color theory. There is a lot to cover, so I suggest watching a youtube video or doing a google search. This is the first website that popped up when I typed in color theory and it cover lots of basics. but there are probably better ones out there.
To create the main palette i use, I started off my picking out colors I knew I liked.  There might be colors another artist uses that catch your eye, a flower, or a photo you have, etc.  I looked through my photoshop palette and picked out the colors that had inspired me and started there.
My focus was on purple, but I wanted to cover a little bit of everything. I created branches slowly making my colors flow from warmer to cooler tones. I was inspired by this tutorial I found on deviant art by Kiwinuptuo.  I’ve looked, but i can’t seem to find out where this artist went, but someone reposted it on DA. I hate not posting from the original artist, but i wanted to properly share how i got the colors below.
Tumblr media
I liked this but it still wasn't working for me.  I wanted all my colors to be united with an overall purple vibe, so I applied a purple overlay to all my colors, and created the below main palette that i pull from.
Tumblr media
Now, I use varying techniques to apply these colors and add more and more purple until everything is drowning in it!! A lot of times I don’t even know what color treatment I’m going to apply to a piece until the end, so for some of these I probably do more work than necessary.
1. Base coloring and then i do a purple Overlay Adjustment layer on the whole piece.  Yes, this means that my colors originally have a purple overlay and then I add another one.  Yes, I am crazy.
Tumblr media
2. Base coloring with a multicolored layered placed above and the Hue Adjustment applied to the layer.  This makes the picture mostly shades of purple. I will actually go back and adjust the original colors to look better in the purple palette if they are not working.  This is why Thorin’s pants are purple and his boots are green.
Tumblr media
3. Base coloring with purple Overlay Adjustment layer and purple shading.  Sometime i even add multiple layers of purple on top until I get the desired effect.
Tumblr media
Now for the answer to the ultimate question, why do I like purple?  Stephanie Brown Batgirl started it 10 years ago and it has continued to spiral out of control.  People, I have purple hair, a purple bat logo tattoo, so many purple clothes and accessories!  This might require therapy ^__^
I hope this is helpful in some way.  I really suggest experimentation with color and all the different adjustment layers in photoshop.  I come up with new tricks all the time, but these are just the basic ones i use consistently.

What is the theme of this Zine?
Dark, Mysterious, or powerful, this is a zine looking to make the best out of the already incredibly cool Paranormal Liberation Front. We want to see our villains at their worst and by that, we mean in the limelight of their villainy. Help us in our endeavor to gain more followers to become truly Liberated.
Please note that this means we focus on their success and power. While many villains have despair inducing history that lead to where they are now, that is not the focus of this zine.

Where will the funds go?
This is a for profit zine, with the funds going to manufacturing first. Ideally, we will be able to send all contributors a full bundle, but this depends on the sales. All contributors will definitely receive the PDF file for the zine free of charge! Merchandise will definitely be offered at production cost to contributors as well.
What are the restrictions on this zine?
This zine is SFW This mean no obsessive gore or nudity. Small amounts of blood are okay! This zine will NOT have shipping Romantic/fluffy pieces will not be allowed! Please stay on theme. This zine will not include theories I.e. [ Redacted ] is the missing Todoroki child.
What are the restrictions on contributors?
All Contributors must have or be willing to make a Discord account.
Contributors retain the right to their work and can redistribute AFTER zine sales close. We will send out a notice when it is okay for contributors to do so.
You may apply for merch, writing,  AND illustration, but you will likely only be chosen for one. Please keep that in mind!
Portfolios with BnHA art is nice, but NOT required.
Traditional art is accepted, but it must be scanned in high quality and at least 300 DPI.
Additionally you must be able to adjust value/color/etc in Photoshop or give permission/work with a mod to do this.
Contributors will be picked on skill alone.
Although bigots, racists, homophobes etc. will be automatically crossed off our list :^]
Contributors will be assigned a base character and will need to clear the inclusion of other characters with a mod to ensure we don’t have, Toga for example,  in everyone’s piece. It’s just to keep track of the character diversity in the zine.
Characters from the entire Paranormal Liberation Front will be included in the zine
Characters will be assigned based on the quality of pitch delivered to their respective mods (Art mod, or Writing mod for Illustration/Merch, or Writing respectively).
Contributor REQs Show us your best art/style that you plan to use for the zine. We have a preference to see good art and writing rather than BnHA pieces. We are judging strictly on your skills as an artist!
Illustrators
We’re looking for an understanding of anatomy and design principles. Things like composition, color, perspective, hierarchy, rhythm. The application itself will ask for a medium portfolio 7-15 pieces. This can be a google drive folder, or a personal website etc. (just not a cluttered social media). Literal backgrounds are not required; however, we are still looking at your backgrounds and compositions. We’re looking for how a piece works altogether. That being said, pieces with backgrounds have higher potential as it allows detail, setting, and perspective. Please note, we love a contributor who can follow directions on 7-15 pieces.
Merch
We’re looking for similar things to the illustrators, but obviously designed for merch. If you want to make charms show us what you can do as a charm. If you want to make buttons, show us your button designs. Ideally 10+ designs, but more is welcome in your portfolio.
Writers
We’re looking for contributors with solid characterization, grammar, wordflow, and know how to convey a mood. We will be asking for three writing examples of 1k-3k. You may also include a portfolio if you so desire. Portfolios may be a direct link to your Archive of our Own account or hosted on google drive, caard, wix, or another similar website. Please do not give us a link to a tumblr tag. Examples do not need to be BNHA, but they cannot be NSFW. Show us fics similar to what you want to write for the zine. Please remember that for the zine itself, we want your pieces to feel like a form of power propaganda!
