fr tho @staff why are you trying to make tumblr more like other sites why are you destroying your niche in the market please there have got to be ways to make tumblr more accessible to new users without sacrificing the very things that your existing userbase loves

#its a genuine problem... I have had friends sign up for tumblr and then not use it because they dont know how to navigate non-algorithmic sm #but come on. there have got to be ways to build up the onboarding process so that people learn how to search for blogs + content #and/or ways to create separate contained algorithmic feeds OR to create the option to turn the algorithmic feed off like it is rn #and honestly I do think tumblr's focus should be more on 'how do we convince people non-algorithmic is good'#rather than 'how do we become algorithmic'#there's gotta be a whole angle in there right??? something like emphasizing that on tumblr you find the content YOU want #not the content we want you to want #also the whole thing about drawing in new creators. have they talked to existing creators??????? bc I dont know that they want algorithms #i dont know I just think tumblr will never be able to do the algorithm better than sites like FB or tik tok or even twitter #so if they try to become algorithmic they will fail to meet the standards of new users AND they will drive away the existing userbase #its a bad look. this is your niche. play to it. thats marketing 101

How do you feel about the increase in really weird NSFW ads on here (advertising panels that look like sexual encounters, and AI art apps that pride themselves on porn) but will take down NSFW posts from their users, even if it isn't technically sexual.

i hate all social media and it's consistent prioritising the advertisers over the users and the internet simply was a better place before capitalism sunk its hooks into it

Whenever people ask for remakes, reboots, re-adaptations and stuff they always defend themselves like "I am a big fan of the original. And it is a film that just NEEDS a remake" or "they are making a live-action adaption, but I just KNOW it is going to be better than the last time they did it!" And every time it turns out it is going to be shit. Newsflash. These things will NEVER if RARELY be as good as the original. Learn to practice satisfaction with a single edition of the story.

at this point I don't even know if tag fragmentation in the general russian holmes space is worth addressing. a few years ago I successfully kept the ancient customs intact because I wrote a post so deranged and pretentious it displeased people into doing what I wanted but nowadays what's the point in making a grand return of being terminally online if yall kinda right

#history: in the ice age the soviet series were exclusively russian sherlock holmes #the 2013 show is about to appear under a surprisingly generic title of Sherlock Holmes that is also russian #the contemporaries can't come up with anything better than naming it the new russian holmes #it is a decade later #soon it will be 11 years of nrh being *new*#and russian sh keeps dying out in favour of soviet sh #tag fragmentation occurs where the historic russian sh name with almost 15 years of tumblr history gets shafted in favour of soviet sh #a relatively new tag nowhere near of the russian sh legacy #as someone who actually scrolled it all the way back to the very beginning and yes to the first posts of circa 2010/2011 #you can guess why I felt strongly about it since you are just creating an issue that never was and also making a false impression #of how sparsely populated soviet sh is while all this time it was just a secondary but also straight up unused tag #the same thing having two tags with totally different content bc of tag fragmentation is quite annoying #but it is now the modern age and idk if you can even go that deep into any tag anymore with how the search function doesn't work #and who could be wrong. russian sh Is soviet. nrh Is new. and nrh will never change and mix with the russian sh search forever.#plus what is the issue. russian sh gets one post a week and nrh gets one every half a year. the annoyance exists to me only.#do we assemble a council and grant both shows new unique tags and resolve the mistakes of our ancestors #while erasing 10+ years of history behind their current tags in the process thus basically wiping the fandom clean #or do we just live with it while occasionally shrugging at how this all happened #I thought and fought to keep it the way it was because adding to a search that goes back to 2010 is what it's all about o7 #but nowadays truly. everyone else is technically right. what's the point

I really need to stop getting my hopes up and brainstorming/ building D&D characters for campaigns that aren’t finalized or don’t even exist

#I just love making characters in general #and when I get an idea I love just completely running with it #but that’s how I end up getting disappointed and creating characters I will never get to play #I haven’t even been officially invited to this one #I was just told there might be an opening #and I misunderstood and thought our characters needed to be just based on a character from pop culture #and then I got super excited about playing Edward Elric as an eldritch knight #and ideally I would want to multi class eventually as a transmutation wizard #and I thought it’d be cool if he was a variant human mark of making #it would work so perfectly for his character #I know I know there’s an alchemist sub class but that doesn’t actually fit end #but anyways turns out the character needs to be from a piece of media that’s at least 30 years old #and ideally is from a classic novel or myth or fair tale or something #but it can’t be Shakespeare #and now I kinda lost all interest #cuz I really wanna play an eldritch knight #but I can’t think of a character who would fit that who isn’t a middle aged man or an archer #and wanna either be young or a woman and I wanna sword #and I don’t wanna have to pick someone who reserved or devoutly religious #but I also don’t wanna play a trickster #maybe I just need to read more older stuff but I just like modern characters better #don’t get me wrong there’s plenty of classic stories I love #but I never find myself really relating to those characters #I should stop worrying about this because I probably won’t even be invited to play #but now I just desperately wanna play ed #of the yandere barbarian characters I’ve been thinking about #I also had a city Druid character I never got to play #and a warlock I only got to play for one session #for how much I think about D&D and watch D&D content #I’ve played so little actually D&D

i really can't apologize enough for the slowness of my writing and just generally, the lack of. But in all honestly, the improvement i've noticed in it's quality, both privately and in what i've shared, has really stunned me into an amazement i have yet to come to terms with and master.

it feels like i'm wielding a weapon that's way too heavy for me, but ... slowly by surely i am trying to build up the muscle to use it

#idk if its noticeable and i dont want to get seem or be c*cky about it #but the way i can expand my stories now in ways i never could before....#im scared...........
