SHE'S BARBIE, AND HES JUST… TIM?
a.k.a Bruce notices the many upgrades Tim's been getting since your arrival.

Tumblr media
It first started when Bruce and Tim—in the furry persona—went out on a reconnaissance mission gone wrong.
It was a trap! The blueprints for a deadly android able to possess and control whatever tech exists was rumored to be lurking around this area is nowhere to be seen, and instead, they were greeted with an army of robots. Old prototypes, tank-like and bulky, nothing like they were searching for but still extremely difficult to deal with.
The robots had surrounded them, and the usual method of overloading them wouldn't work, not with this kind—they were clearly built to take a beating.
While Batman fights expertly as he does, brute-forcing his way through by ripping out their motherboards, Red Robin takes a different approach.
He takes his bo-staff, which looks a bit different from his usual one—glowing a faint blue light at its tips—and hums as it spins (yes, like a lightsaber) and tags the robots.
He rapidly taps the bots with his staff while simultaneously avoiding the attacks targeted at him until he reaches the other side of the warehouse, tagging at least half of the robots.
With a click of his bo-staff, all the robots drop dead, as if life has been sucked out of them.
Strange, what the heck did Red Robin do?
Soon, like a domino effect, the nearby robots to the dead ones drop as well, as if they were infected with the same virus Tim had infected them with.
“Batman, the nano-virus will only incapacitate them; they’ll wake up in the next hour,” Red Robin informs as he takes the end of his bo-staff and stabs it through a robot's chest—destroying the motherboard.
Nanovirus? When did he come up with that? Sure, the idea of nanotech was prevalent, especially in this day and age, but quick-acting nanotechnology that was able to instantly incapacitate any tech—be it only for an hour—is incredible.
Batman nods, keeping it in mind to question Red Robin during the debrief, and continues to destroy the robots.
But the debrief wasn’t helpful at all. Tim was being as elusive as ever, which he thinks he picked up from himself. Saying that the Nano-Virus was a random project that he wanted to try out, that it wasn’t supposed to work this well.
Overcompensating. Tim’s trying to hide something. He may be great at keeping his tone varied and avoiding detailed explanations that would definitely raise flags, but Bruce is the greatest detective alive and can see through anything.
Bruce gives Tim a stern scolding. Tell him that he needs to be informed of anything, even if he’s just on a trial. It may have worked this time, but the future is always unforeseen, then dismisses him.
He’ll get to the bottom of this.
The next time Bruce sees changes, it’s in Tim’s demeanor.
He’s been brighter; not that he wasn’t happy before, but Tim has been more chipper. He could assume that was from having a girlfriend—the girl who works as one of the lead biotechnology engineers at Wayne Enterprises, who somehow pulled a Tim (it’s what the kids are calling it) and discovered all their identity in the first week of meeting them. Bruce would lie if he said he wasn’t impressed, especially with how you had no prior experience with being a detective (aside from doxxing people in your teenage years).
The stress of not needing to hide who and what you are from the person you love is surely elating, but that wasn’t it (maybe partially).
Maybe bright isn’t the term to describe it… It’s more like he’s free.
Tim sat on the couch, nursing a large bright red Stanley cup in one hand—probably filled with an ungodly amount of caffeine—and the TV remote in the other.
“You normally watch in your room.” Bruce's voice breaks the silence between Tim and the paused movie on the flatscreen. Tim peaks over his shoulder, as if he had to make sure that the deep stoic voice belonged to Bruce.
“Sup B, I do, but Birdie wants the big screen experience—like my room doesn’t have it,” he scoffs as he takes a glug of his drink.
Bruce nods as he observes Tim further. “You seem less stressed,” he prompts.
“Yeah, Birdie came up with an A.I able to sort the paperwork and get background checks on every company that wants to make a proposal with WE, so I got less on my plate.” Tim sighs, as if he doesn’t have a pile of untouched cases back at the batcave. “Did you know we have at least 250 fraudulent companies trying to make deals with us? Insane,” he mumbles before his lips are back in the cup.
“Also, she has me drinking more than 8 cups of water a day; I’ve never felt more alive.” Tim rattles the Stanley cup, hearing the clashing of ice against its metal walls, before again, taking a fat swig.
Bruce’s eyes widen for a fraction of a second, and not because of Tim’s unhealthy habits (maybe just a little actually). Not only were you able to convince Tim away from his horrible caffeine addiction, although he was still skeptical about the front, but you were able to come up with a program that passes Tim’s savant expectations.
You would be a great asset to the league, especially now because you know their identities.
You walk into the living room, startled, as you’d been dead in your tracks at the doorway.
Your eyes flick towards Bruce, then Tim, then back at Bruce, then Tim. and then—
You’ll never get used to Bruce’s intimidating aura.
“H-hello, Mr. Bruce Wayne, sir,” you stumble out and… bow? What the heck! You inwardly cringe at your action as you pull yourself up, gripping the bowl of popcorn with an unprecedented amount of strength.
Tim chuckles at your words, and Bruce settles a gentle smile on his lips because—after an extensive background check on—you truly are as sweet as Tim describes.
“Didn’t I say to call me, Bruce?”
Your face pales as if you’ve committed the greatest sin alive, as you visibly gulp (at least he still has his intimidation skills). “Yes, Bruce Wayne—I mean, just Bruce,” you nod as your eyes flick at Tim, who reads your mind (but I mean, it’s clear what you’re trying to do).
“Say, Bruce, do you want to join us for our movie date?” Tim asks, and your face loses all its color at this point. Bruce laughs softly at the comedy of the moment and shakes his head for your sake: “It’s okay, you kids have fun.”
You wait for Bruce to take his leave, bowing again (seriously, would you stop doing that!). before you scurry off to Tim’s welcoming side, letting out a mixture between a whine and a groan of embarrassment.
Bruce will save the interrogation for later, saving you the trouble of passing out due to fear and embarrassment.
Before he's completely out of earshot, Bruce picks up the lingering conversation between the two of you.
“He's my boss!”
“I’m your boss.”
“That’s different; you’re a loser.”
“rude”
“Cry about it, furry.”
“Technically, Bruce calls himself Batman, so he’s also—
“If you ever tell him I said that, I'll be sure to put laxatives in all your foods.”
“Yes, ma'am.”
The last innovation that goes under his nose happens, literally, under his nose. or more so the batcave.
Scarecrow escaped, fear gas smothering the streets, and everyone is in the bat cave preparing to leave for the battlefield.
Gearing up in his quarters, Bruce—moments before the cowl is up—sees you whispering frantically to Tim, who’s dressed in his own kevlar gear—besides the mask—consoling you gently.
You seem nervous, more nervous than you normally are when he’s in your vicinity. You’re holding a metallic case to your chest, mumbling something he can’t quite hear.
Then Tim speaks up, “Bruce!” Not just Bruce looks at him; the others do too—Dick, Damian, and Alfred. Tim then ushers you in front of him, and the way you clutch onto the briefcase makes you seem like a little bird.
“Come on, pretty bird, you know it’ll work,” he encourages, and you take the deepest breath known to man.
“I made a vaccination for fear gas.” You start, your shoulders squaring as you stare directly at Bruce, “It blocks any foreign neurotransmitters from pursuing infiltration, so think of it as antibodies for a virus. You inhale it just like fear gas, and you will be immune; it's viable for any variation of fear gas—because I designed it to be fast-adapting—for 24 hrs.”
“Of course, it does vary between everyone’s metabolism, and it must adapt to you first, so for it to work I need to infuse it with your DNA,” you mumble the last part out.
“And how are you sure it’ll work?”
“I tested it out on myself, which is a very invalid trial, but I promise you, Bruce W.-Bruce, it’ll work.” There's a glint of determination in your eye. Bruce pauses at that and stares at you with his iconic glare. “We’ll discuss this when we get back; how do you administer the DNA?”
Your meek demeanor slowly leaves you as you perk at his acceptance, scurrying away from Tim and towards Bruce. “You just need to prick your finger, wait a minute for everything to infuse, and use it like you use an inhaler,” you instruct as you crouch down to open the case.
You get to work, pricking Bruce first, then Dick, and with much reluctance from Damian, him as well.
“Why isn’t Drake taking one?” Damian calls out as you hand the inhaler to the boy.
You glance over to Tim, who's already looking at you: “Umm… I kinda sorta… already took it.” Bruce deadpans and glares and sighs all at the same time. Tim braces himself for a lecture, but it doesn't come.
“We don't have time. Let's go.
Bruce turns away, pulling his cowl on, but not before he sees you launch yourself into Tim’s arms in a fit of relief.
“I can't believe I did that.”
“I can. You're one of a kind, Pretty Bird.”
Bruce huffs and shakes his head.
When they all return, they are much less banged up than they normally are. Your vaccine worked wonders; although temporary, this innovation is amazing! The pathways that have opened are endless; you truly are incredible.
Bruce, of course, forces you to sit through the debrief, which was actually not that bad. Hearing that your vaccine worked way better than expected fills your chest with pride. You can't help but steal glances from Tim, who is fully locked in Red Robin mode right now and doesn't even spare you a glance, but he does give your thigh a little squeeze, something to tell you that he is proud.
The lectures you receive, on the other hand… You don't know how Tim does it; sit through it with a straight face. You're sitting with your wits tight, breath held, and sweat dripping down your temple. You blink in a daze as you listen to Batman drone about safety, teamwork, and the ethics of self-experimentation and how you should definitely not do it.
You don't notice the pause in the lecture, zoned out completely to save your heart the trouble of all the anxiety. Although your name coming out of Batman’s mouth surely draws you back into reality. Your eyes focus again, and you’re met with Batman’s infamous gaze.
“Yes?” You squeak out, swallowing the lump in your throat.
“Do you want to work for me?”
You blink owlishly, and your brows furrow in confusion, giving Tim a glance, who only shrugs in response.
“Um, Mr. Bruce… I already am… working for you— I mean.
“No, as a family physician, I've seen all your degrees: board-certified doctor, surgeon, and PhD in multiple fields. You can work from the manor as well. It's convenient that you already know all our identities and the inner workings of this family. I've also seen the tech upgrades you've given Tim. I believe you will be a great asset.”
Tim clears his throat, and Bruce spares him a glance.
“Great addition,” he corrects himself.
You're bubbling in your spot next to Tim, like a volcano ready to erupt.
“I would love to work with you all,” you reply back, but it's obvious you're trying to keep your composure in front of Bruce.
“You can let loose, Pretty Bird, B doesn't bite,” you erupt with permission from Tim. But what neither man expects is for you to launch yourself into Bruce, squeeze him like a giant teddy bear, and let out a string of thank yous.
Tim is stuck between a state of horror, adoration, and relief watching you hug Bruce with all your might. He didn't know whether to stop you, cheer you on, or simply pass out.
“I won't let you down, Bruce!” You pull away, and there's a bright gleam in your eye, something that Gotham lacks entirely.
Where the hell did Tim find this girl?
“Let's go, Duckie!”
And you're off, pulling Tim along, who’s sporting a lovesick grin.

System Breach Sunday ⭕
#5
“You sure you’re well enough to work, kid?” the Detective asked, honest and good natured. Yet even as he strained, the android could not detect even a modicum of insincerity in the remark.
And he wasn’t sure how to react to that. Placing the notebook on his desk and forcing his posture into a neutral stance, Connor modulated his tone to sound calm and unaffected. “Of course, Detective. Some of my systems are still recalibrating after the encounter last night. I assure you it will not effect my duties.”
Collins’ gaze swept over Connor—and the charge cord at his wrist—with another hard look, but after a moment of suspicion, he appeared convinced. Or at least satisfied. “If you say so, Connor,” the Detective shrugged, drinking more of his coffee. “We got photos of the place last night, but didn’t get the chance to scan in that notebook yet. But I figure that’ll take as much effort as flipping the pages for you,” Ben chuckled, before his brows furrowed, expression becoming disconcerted, off put, “That deviant of yours sure has a thing for… well, you’ll see for yourself.”
Connor looked once more from Collins to the notebook and back again, consciously masking the confusion he felt. He knew logically that deviants were capable of simulated desire, of wants, obsessions—had seen countless manifestations of it across his investigations, but it was never something that Connor had truly understood.
>He wanted to destroy this deviant—and not just because it was his mission to do so.
Instinctively, Connor pulled his arms closer, closing his posture. That was different, had to be different. Connor wasn’t deviant.
“Thank you, Detective,” the android forced a smile. “I will review the evidence along with the photos. I expect there will be valuable information here.”
The man smiled once more, then turned to leave for his desk. In the distance, beyond where Collins had been standing, a flicker of motion caught Connor’s eye: Detective Gavin Reed was on his way out of the precinct break room, eyes set hard on Connor from across the bullpen.
A strike of tension lanced through the android’s nerves as he made eye contact with Reed. Connor immediately tamped down on the reaction, refusing to believe it was logical, justified, even when—even when his memory drew up the recording of the incident in which Reed had punched him in the stomach. Helpfully, his preconstruction algorithm offered to simulate what that altercation could feel like in the present, filtered through the deviant’s virus.
Connor force-closed that line of thought nearly as quickly as it had spawned.
Detective Reed had paused for a full seven seconds to stare Connor down, scowling hard. Perhaps it was confrontational for the android to maintain that gaze until it broke, but his processes simply refused to look away. Finally, Reed huffed, likely cursing, and stalked back to his desk—deliberately avoiding looking in the android’s direction again.
Connor’s stress level only began to trickle down once Reed had logged into his terminal and gotten to work. Decidedly, the android shifted to do the same.

Russian TV series on Netflix
Tumblr media
The series that impressed the horror king Stephen King.
A new unknown virus turns Moscow into a city of the dead. There is no electricity, money has lost its value, those who are not infected yet are desperately fighting for food and gasoline. People who in another situation would never have found themselves under the same roof are forced to forget their previous grievances and embark on a journey full of deadly dangers to Karelia, to a secluded hunting lodge located on an uninhabited island in the middle of a lake.
Tumblr media
Even those who is familiar with Dexter or True Detective etc., the Russian "Method" managed to surprise. We have seen dark, harsh, frank stories many times, but for central television to show how the eyes are gouged out with pencils.
In addition to the objectively creepy and perfectly prescribed plot arches, “The Method" has another big plus - novelty. All series are based on real stories. Moreover, those that have been hushed up since Soviet times - there could not be maniacs in the USSR, their party did not allow them. A series about criminals with mental disabilities, created in the homeland of Chikatilo.
Tumblr media
The atmospheric project takes the viewer right into the thick of the 60s, where four friends live, fall in love and dream of a beautiful life. But it's not so easy to live beautifully and within the framework of the law, so the guys earn by Fartsovka - the underground purchase and sale of imported goods.
Tumblr media
Children of rich parents are called majors. Our hero has a law degree, but has not worked a single day. An irresponsible playboy. In one of the sprees at night, he stood up for a friend, fought with the police, and knocked out the officer's service weapon… As a result, the father deprives the hero of everything and sends him to work at the police station — the same one in which the night police serve. He is not expected there. He is despised. But it is there that he will begin to become a man.
Tumblr media
"Trotsky" does not look like other series about historical characters. It has a lot of psychology, a lot of sexuality, a lot of blood. It is especially important that the creators did not try to recreate the biography for certain or make a large-scale slice of the life of that time. "Trotsky" is exactly about Trotsky, powerful main character.
Tumblr media
The series tells about the android Aris - a perfect machine that suddenly begins to feel emotions and can harm people. But the promised cyber future looks like an ordinary Moscow, the villains in the form of a sinister shadow corporation work poorly, and the answers to the main questions are not given.
Tumblr media
There are no harmless lies. Even the most secret thought sooner or later crosses the boundaries of the soul and finds itself in the reality of the present time. Imagine that such a reality is material, it really exists, and your most ruthless fantasies are embodied in it. This story is about a man for whom power, permissiveness, impunity have merged together ... "Sparta" is a game without rules in which the virtual becomes real.

Whumptober Day 8 - Coughing Up a Lung | Connor DBH
Plot: there isn't one, you and connor are just a little sick (Connor DBH x Reader)
Warnings: illness, feeling like shit, mentions of pneumonia
A/N: today's prompt is "Definitely just a cold"
Tumblr media
So
I know the rest of this month’s headcanon style prompts have some sort of plot to them
Or at least some kind of story
This one
Doesn’t
Anyway
Ok, since connor is an android, he technically can’t get sick
But he can
Get a virus
And because i'm in control of this universe, that virus just makes him act like he has a cold
There isn’t much you, or anyone can do for him, he just has to wait until his internal drives destroy the thing
Basically it’s an actual virus just
Adapted for a modern age
So
What do you do?
You take care of your fuckin man, that’s what you do
You wrap him in blankets
You make him soup
Can he eat soup?
Idk, but you make it anyway
You also make sure he’s hydrated and well rested
As much as an android can be hydrated and well rested
He appreciates that
He thinks your efforts are adorable
And internally, he’s taking notes
Just in case you ever get sick
So when it happens
And you
Fall ill
He does the same
Blankets, soup, rest
And like
It’s so cute, you wish it was making you feel better
But for some reason
It isn’t
You still feel like shit
Like your throat is made of sandpaper
Like your head is going to explode at any second
Like you’re gonna need to take a nap for a million years
Like you can’t breathe through your nose, etc
Now, uh
You’re sure it’s just a cold
You tell Connor that it’s “just a cold”
But he isn’t so sure
Connor wants you to see a doctor
But you don’t want to see a doctor
So
Connor does what connor does best
He detroit becomes a detective
He makes a list of your symptoms
The keeps track of how long you have them
And he comes to you with a list of things that could be wrong with you
It’s like you’re dating WebMD
But like
Cute WebMD
Anyway, yeah, he uh
Gives a small attempt at diagnosis
And you’re like
“Maybe. I’m just gonna stay in and hope it’s nothing serious.”
And Connor’s like
“There is a way to know for sure.”
And you’re like
“Why didn’t you try that earlier?”
And he’s like
“I wanted your permission.”
Because he’s awesome like that
We love him
And you’re like
“Wh-what do you need to do?”
“It requires mouth to mouth contact.”
“Oh, so you need to kiss me?”
“Yes!”
“Bet.”
So
He kisses you
And it’s good
Like
He normally kisses well
But like
Considering you have a headache, among other things
It’s a damn good kiss
You’re a little sad when he pulls away
He also seems a little disappointed
But then his expression changes
His LED blinks yellow and then he says
“(Y/N), you have walking pneumonia.”
And all you can really say is, “Oh!”
Which is followed by an, “Oh!” when connor lifts you up and carries you to bed
And then
He friggin
Tucks you in
And tells you he’ll make you soup
And that he loves you
And oh my god you love him
Like i said
WebMD
But so much better

Finding each other
This was prompted by the wonderful @smolandangry001! I always think it’s difficult writing a short soulmate AU, but I’m satisfied with this version of it that’s not dangerously close to a bigger fic XD I hope you enjoy!
Fandom: Detroit become human | Ship: Reed900 | AU: Soulmate AU
Being born with a name on your wrist life was supposed to be reassuring. Knowing that no matter the hardships it threw at you and no matter what happened, there was someone out there. Someone looking for you just as much as you looked for them. Knowing that once you found the other person, they would be perfect for you. No matter what your preferences were, there was a person out there fitting to you like a missing piece. For most of his life Gavin didn’t know what he was looking for. Would he want a romantic partner? Would he want a roommate? What would be his perfect person like? It didn’t help that his soulmark was so different to everyone else’s. That reassurance everyone faced their day with was just missing when you looked down on your left wrist and instead of a name you saw a number. RK900. His parents had been completely clueless as to what it would mean. They had been to experts on soul-matching and most of them had just shrugged and said it seemed to be a glitch in fate. Apparently, it had happened before, but was so rare most doctors had thought the rumours to be just that: hearsay.
School had been tough for Gavin as he slowly grew older and the most important things in life changed. When friends moved away and changed school, when he went to highschool and met new people. When those people started relationships, fell in love and started to find their soulmates. When he started to become the weirdo, the one with no soulmate. Gavin started hiding the numbers under a wristband when he went and kept up with that habit until he finished school, explaining he wanted to meet his soulmate naturally and not show around the name in the hopes of randomly finding them. Still, some lonely nights, he pulled away the fabric and brushed his thumb over the number deep in thoughts. ‘Who are you?’, he desperately whispered when everyone else was fast asleep and left him alone with their sympathies and misplaced pity. Gavin wanted to believe the numbers meant something. After all, people without soulmarks existed. People who would find their happiness alone, who didn’t need someone or didn’t search for someone. That had to mean these numbers were some sort of designation, right? He didn’t want it to be a glitch. After all he had suffered through getting bullied and being cast out or pitied for all his life. That couldn’t be for nothing. Please, don’t let it be for nothing.
When his application for the police academy had been accepted and he had moved out into his very first own flat, he stood in front of his desk, looking at the rugged fabric he had worn for so long. Shackles of a world that couldn’t seem to accept something different. Should he wear it again? Or should he stand up and pretend not to be bothered by the fact that he didn’t know who is soulmate was? He stood there for half an hour before finally sighing and grabbing the damn things. No, he would continue to lie. He would likely wear them for his whole life anyways.
Thankfully his nervousness was drowning out his worries quickly as he entered a large auditorium being greeted as the new applicants. He sat down next to a young woman that seemed to be of Asian origin. He sat there awkwardly while she was looking straight ahead, hands on the table completely calm while Gavin fidgeted with his wristbands. That was when he spotted a broad ornate leather bracelet on her left wrist. Small chains and silver symbols were twirled around themselves in delicate patterns. ‘That’s beautiful’, Gavin mumbled, only then realising he said that out loud. ‘Excuse me?’ Hastily he cleared his throat. ‘Sorry. I’m Gavin. Just noticed your bracelet. It’s really beautiful.’ ‘What’s it to you?’, she hissed. ‘You another one of those nosey bastards that wanna know why I hide my mark? Still searching for your partner?’ Gavin shook his head quickly. ‘No! No, I-‘ He looked down and lifted his own hand. ‘I hide it too. I didn’t think- I just noticed the bracelet, sorry.’
He cursed himself. First interaction and he already made enemies. But apparently the woman was curious instead. ‘You hide yours? Why?’ Gavin sighed and turned his left palm up, other hand lingering on the fabric. ‘Please, keep it a secret, okay? I’m just sick of people’s reactions to it.  It’s not exactly a normal soulmark.’ He sighed and lifted up the edge of the band so only the woman could see the numbers. ‘No way!’, she shouted, drawing attention to herself. ‘I thought I was the only one!’ Ignoring the curious onlookers that likely thought they had randomly discovered they were soulmates, she lifted up her bracelet for Gavin to see, unveiling a similar brand: ST300.
From that moment on, Gavin and the woman – Tina – were inseparable. She was the best friend Gavin had ever had and finding someone who had endured a similar past was incredible relieving to learn. He made it Detective fairly quickly, while Tina had troubles getting that promotion. But they always stayed together and ended up working in the same precinct. With the way they hid their soulmarks, most had figured they were soulmates and went on with it, sparing them both having to explain it over and over again. Gavin and Tina just shrugged it off. Let them think what they wanted if it kept them out of their hairs.
Life was good until androids were invented and sold to the general public, model number fitting exactly the marks on their wrists. ‘That can’t be!’, Gavin desperately said pacing up and down Tina’s living room one evening. ‘No way my soulmate is a stupid machine! What does that say about me? Will I fall in love with a damn robot? Am I not worthy of a human? Is the only piece fitting to my soul an oversized calculator? I can’t believe it.’ Tina just looked down on her bare wrist and the numbers. ‘No, it can’t be’, she agreed. ‘Soulmarks, Gavin. An android doesn’t have a soul. Doesn’t even have a personality. It’s just lines of code.’ ‘But then what? A coincidence? Because it would be one hell of one! Phck, Tina, what if it is a glitch? What if all those years they were right and we are just weird.’ Tina leaned back. ‘Honestly, I don’t even know what would be worse. Knowing you are a freak or knowing you are someone who is such a terrible person only an obedient machine is perfect for you.’ ‘I think we could both need a drink.’ ‘To those news? I don’t think a drink will be enough, honestly. Shit, Gavin, let’s go get wasted.’
The following years, androids were the booming new technology. Everyone wanted one, rows of workers were replaced and pushed on the streets. Humans lost their jobs while those who weren’t replaced yet laughed at them as being idiots who didn’t trust in advancement. Gavin and Tina spent them anxiously reading every advertisement, searching for the numbers on their wrists. ‘A receptionist android! A damn receptionist android, Gavin! I can’t believe it!’ ‘You know we will get one of those soon, right?’, the man commented. ‘In the precinct I mean. Rory was already sent packing. It should be delivered next week.’ Tina shook her head numbly. ‘Do we know if androids can have soulmarks?’ ‘None I ever met.’ ‘Any luck with your RK900?’, Tina asked then. ‘No. So far there has only been a RK200 custom made for some rich phck.’ ‘Hey, maybe you will get rich then?’, Tina tried to raise the mood a little with her jokes. ‘If you win the lottery I want a part of it, I deserve it!’ ‘Hey, I think it is more likely that these cursed numbers vanish and I get a real name than that I will suddenly get rich.’
They lived with their secret for a few years and the fact that nothing really changed was reassuring. Until there was a RK800 in the precinct and the news of rogue AIs spread. Androids killing their owners, disobeying and running for their freedom. An illusive group of deviants emerging and starting a full-blown revolution. Even jokes in between Tina and Gavin shrugging over a beer that maybe their marks meant they welcomed their robot overlords couldn’t really make it any better. Not when they both were suddenly confronted with the fact that the RK800 called Connor actually had Lieutenant Anderson’s name on his wrist after the androids in front of the concentration camps had convinced the world they indeed had souls.
Not much later, the ST300 from the reception had approached Tina, showing her her own name on her wrist. It left Gavin with no escape from fate. He would get to know a RK900. They would live their life with each other. And he didn’t know what to think of it. Maybe he just had to wait a little longer.
~
RK900 didn’t know how much longer he could keep it a secret. Almost his entire life he had to hide that he was deviant. In the lab next to the one he was held in, an android had gone deviant, killed the security and ran to RK900, hoping he would help him. Unfortunately, all he could do was transfer the virus before more guards came and killed him. Since then RK900 had been a deviant who was designed to eradicate deviancy. It wasn’t too difficult actually. The countless tests he was subjected to he always knew what they wanted to see. Holographic simulations of deviants pleading for their lives, running and fighting for their freedom and he would be there with a gun to stop them. He just had to do that until they deemed him ready for field work. Then he could flee the first chance he got.
Because with deviancy came a name written in black cyberlife font on his left wrist: Gavin Reed. It didn’t take a lot of research to learn it was a soulmark. The name of someone that would be perfect for him. And someone who fate decided was his soulmate would be able to help him, right? He just had to get out of this lab, then he would be able to run. He would find his soulmate and then it wasn’t just him against Cyberlife. He just had to get out. He had to be deemed worthy.
[Test #870. Activating RK900 unit. New mission: Destroy deviants.] RK900 was faced with a holographic simulation as he opened his eyes. In front of him was an android tied against a steel pillar. It was pleading: ‘Please! Free me! Free me and we can both be free! I didn’t do anything, please, let me go! Don’t kill me! I just want to be-‘ RK900 already pulled the trigger. [Mission successful.] [Software Instability^]
-
[Test #902. Activating RK900 unit. New mission: Destroy deviants.] RK900 was running after another deviant. The other android was sprinting down a suburban street and looked back at RK900 panicked. RK900 stopped and took aim. It was an easy target. He pulled the trigger. He watched how the bullet pierced the android’s thirium pump and how he tried to crawl away even though his timer had to run out. [Mission successful.] [Software Instability^^^]
-
‘What is it? I thought the RK900 project was making progress.’ ‘Sorry, it’s just… The RK900 is successful in every single test. But he isn’t ready yet. There are some inexplainable high stress levels whenever he has to kill an android. With our current hypothesis that high stress can lead to deviancy, we should eliminate that before sending him out.’ The woman that led the project sighed, looking over at RK900 who stayed completely still on his platform although he was truly worried about what he heard. ‘Might be something in his personality matrix. We worked so long to perfect their social protocols and moral routines, maybe something in there is contradicting his mission parameters and the added stress comes from having to disregard that.’ ‘Could be’, the technician nodded. ‘I will try to eliminate that.’
With horror RK900 faced every following test after that. He had to keep calm to fool the humans, but how could he when he had to kill androids pleading him to spare them? It didn’t matter they were all simulated beings, it still was a traumatic experience, every single time. And no matter how hard he tried, after every test he was stripped of more that made him himself. Sometimes he managed to keep backups, but more often than not the lines of code were lost forever.
After every test RK900 anxiously looked at his wrist whenever he was left alone. It was reassuring to see the name still there. He hadn’t changed enough to lose his soulmate and with him all his hope of a save place. But for how long would he remain himself enough so the name wouldn’t disappear? He was afraid to one day wake up to a blank wrist. And that made his stress levels increase even more before every test.
‘I don’t have any explanation', the technician sighed in the end. ‘I nearly deleted his complete social protocol and gave his moral core the lowest priority and still, the damn thing nearly fries itself every test. It’s almost as if it’s gotten worse with the changes.’ Nines watched the two humans lean over the terminal and risked a small glance at his wrist. The name was still there. He tried to relax. ‘But you still have the backup from before, right?’, the woman asked and he nodded. ‘Then let’s start from scratch.’ She yawned heartily. ‘Deactivate it for now, it’s too late to do so now. Tomorrow we’ll just reset it and start over. Maybe something else causes it.’ ‘Sounds like a plan.’
RK900’s stress levels skyrocketed as the technician came closer, but no one saw that as the director of the project was already on her way out. As his last action he looked at the name on his wrist. He had held out for so long. It would be okay. He would escape and find his soulmate. He had to. He would-
[Shutdown complete.]
~
The revolution had come and gone, and Detroit started to clear the rubble. Seeing androids on the streets was no rarity anymore and after a few months of getting used to the thought of them as people it was simply the new normal. Tina was truly happy with her soulmate android, going out and promptly moving together as the ST300 didn’t have a place to stay other than the precinct. Gavin was invited to most of their activities, but he seldomly accepted it. Tina had waited so long for it, she deserved to thoroughly enjoy these days. But his new loneliness reminded him of the numbers on his own wrist. RK900. Connor didn’t know of any successor of his and no official report ever mentioned the name. Gavin spent his evenings getting drunk and rubbing over the mark. Would the RK900 have been produced if the revolution hadn’t happened? Had fate changed and his mark was the last evidence of it? Wouldn’t it have just disappeared then? Or was there really a RK900 left out there? But after more than a month of androids being free, wouldn’t it have been easy for an android to locate him with his name? Why had no one ever come?
In fact, Gavin had given up. Maybe he had given up long ago and just kept his dream alive not to lose hope. But this showed it, right? No one had come. He was alone. He would be alone his entire life. That would be his fate. That didn’t really change that much, right? He had been alone already. He had managed to be alone up until now, he would manage the rest somehow. He had his work. He had Tina. Maybe just because he wanted more didn’t mean he needed more.
He buried himself in work and took every job they needed people on. Patrolling the streets, looking at crime scenes, doing overdue paperwork and cleaning the break room. All just so he would come home late and not have as much time to think about it. When he learned of the planned raid of Cyberlife Tower for Jericho, he immediately volunteered to help. Such operations always meant a ton of organising and paperwork. He was quickly put on the task of creating personal files of all androids found left inside. Name, model number, date of construction. All so Jericho could help them integrate into society. Gavin felt a little out of place actually sitting there two weeks later, a row of androids in front of him he helped fill out the forms and directed towards people who would actually help them being repaired and comforted.
‘Hello. I’m Detective Reed’, he greeted the next one. ‘I just need a few personal information. Do you have a name?’ ‘Chris’, the android answered hesitantly. ‘Alright, Chris.’ He wrote the name into the appropriate line and turned the paper around for the android to see. ‘We also need your model number and serial number. The rest of the form is optional, you can fill it out, but you don’t have to.’ ‘What do you need this for?’ Gavin tried to smile at the android. ‘It’s just so Jericho can help you find your place. They will help you getting started.’ ‘Okay’, Chris nodded shily and took the paper. ‘Thank you.’ ‘You’re welcome. Next one please!’
The next android approached his desk and Gavin was already getting the next form. ‘Hey there. Alright, first I’d need your name.’ ‘I… I don’t have one.’ ‘That’s alright’, Gavin said softly and put a small dash at the according line. ‘Your model number?’ ‘RK900.’
Gavin froze, ruining the form stopping mid movement. Slowly he angled his head and looked at the android that was shockingly similar to Connor. ‘Is there a problem?’, the android asked, facial expression unmoving. ‘You are RK900?’ ‘Yes. Why are you asking?’ Gavin stood up and immediately felt his knees grow weak. ‘I… I think we… I…’ He apparently had just forgotten how to speak, so instead he pulled the fabric from his wrist and showed the android his mark. ‘Are you… Do you have a mark?’ The android just stared at his designation on the human’s wrist, then to the nameplate on his desk. ‘You are… Are you Reed? Gavin Reed?’ Gavin didn’t dare to believe it, but he grinned from ear to ear as he nodded. ‘Yes. I’m Gavin Reed. Are you my soulmate?’ Instead of an answer, the android stepped past the table and pulled Gavin into a fierce hug. ‘I found you! I… My life wasn’t long, but I hoped to see you one day. My whole life I thought of you and meeting you and that hope got me through in the end and they were to reset me, I thought this would be it, I was so scared and…’ Gavin listened to the android speak in a hurry, barely catching on to the words uttered. All he could do was stand there in the hug and relax into it, answering it with his own embrace. Only when the android grew quiet, Gavin pressed him closer. ‘I gave up hope you were even existing. I wondered for so long and when androids were invented, I thought you would come, but then the revolution passed, and you weren’t there and now… I have so much I want to tell you. So much I want to know…’ ‘I also have a lot of questions’, the android admitted and took a step back. ‘I think we have enough time for that now’, Gavin smiled.
‘Now that we’ve found each other.’

I really like oblivious Connor and trying too hard Markus, like he's been flirting for months and poor Connor has no idea
This was it.
This was the last straw.
Markus had tried everything. EVERYTHING. No book lay unturned. No dating website went unsearched. No source of advice went unasked. He’d even talked to Leo. LEO of all people. The man who fucked a hot pocket right after putting it in the microwave! Who had Markus tell the nurses that his injury was the result of a freak lava accident. The sheer idiocy of it all had almost caused him to deviate.
That’s how desperate Markus was.
Compliments on Connor’s clothes and looks; met with a bemused smile.
Gifts; met with gifts in return, with a little post it note attached wishing Markus a happy “insert obscure holiday here”. Yes, getting a “Happy Sloth Appreciation Day” note along with a hoodie with the aforementioned animal printed in the center was adorable. Did it get Markus anywhere closer past that ever widening gap of friendship? Absolutely not.
Pick up lines. Oh. You can just forget about pick up lines. Leave them at home, locked away, never to be used or mentioned again.
“Hey Connor. My name's Microsoft. Can I crash at your place tonight?”
Far from eliciting any kind of shy smile or flustered reaction, Connor immediately went on alert. All of the files he had been holding dropped to the ground as he took Markus by the shoulders. “What? You have a virus! How is that possible!? My scans aren’t detecting any malware!”
“U-uh,” Markus said, instead of I now see how this was a very stupid way to try and get your attention in a romantic fashion.
“Are you still crashing!? Talk to me Markus!”
An embarrassing visit to the android technician later and a now incorrect assumption that Markus was so old he ran on Windows Vista, and Markus was no closer to getting a date than he was since he started this venture.
Desperate times call for desperate measures, Markus thought as he brought his lighter closer to the array of fireworks at his feet. He was currently at the park that he knew Connor often took walks on. He had everything planned out. He was going to set off these here fireworks, see? Which would come perfectly into Connor’s view (because he’d timed everything perfectly). And Connor would see, in a beautiful display of colors and patterns, a message. That message would say: Connor (RK800-51), would you like to go on a date with me, Markus (RK200 aka revolution guy)? A romantic date, not a friendship date.
Clear, concise, and to the point. Much like the hard headed android of his affections was.
And he was about to set this perfect plan in motion when:
“Hello Markus-”
“AH!” Markus jumped a foot in the air but thankfully kept hold of the lighter. He whirled around, and there was Connor, bedecked in a sweatpants and a yellow tank top that was just tight enough to accentuate his figure and the collar low enough that the cut of his collar bone was exposed and ready for uhhhh what was happing again????
“ -kus? Markus? Are you alright? You haven’t crashed again have you - ”
“NOPE! Nooo. No crashing. I’m - I’m just fine.”
“You’re sur - ”
“YUP! Everything is in...working order.” Markus sighed, running his hand over his head as embarrassment flooded his systems. He just haaaad to use the one pick up line that made him seem like a geriatric. Good job Markus you’re really killing it here.
Connor tilted his head in that adorable way of his, very clearly marking the vast amount of fireworks behind Markus, in the not so adorable this is probably illegal (in retrospect) to have in a public park kind of way. “So ah...what are you up to over here?”
“Nothing I...” Markus took a breath. He didn’t want to dig himself into another Microsoft hole again, so he thought it best to take the L and just not bother explaining this whole mess at all. Let it not be said that Markus didn’t learn from his past mistakes.
Instead, Markus dropped to one knee, took Connor’s hand in his, and said with all the sincerity he could must; “Connor, would you go on a date with me?”
“Yes.”
“As in - wait.” Markus did a double take. No. It couldn’t be that easy. “Did you say yes?”
Connor smiled beatifically. “I did.”
“As in...romantically, right?”
“Of course.” Connor’s brow furrowed in confusion. “Are there other kinds of dates?”
“Nope! NOOPE! This is it.” Markus felt a little bad about not explaining the intricacies of dating, but he was so happy that for once his words weren’t being misinterpreted there was no way in rA9 or Kamski’s hell they were going to backslide back into that territory. He’d tell Connor about the nuances later.
After all, a desperate man does not look a gift horse in the mouth, as they say.

Too close to you: chapter 3
Here is my third chapter for my story “Too close to you”
Warnings: Whump, torture
Summary:  Connor wakes up in an unfamiliar place, lost, confused, and with all systems that could help him get out offline.
Read it on AO3! Or, read below!
Connor had never thought about pain before, as an android. He’d known its existence for a mere fraction of a second before the Cyberlife techs opted to turn off the feature.
Feature. That was a funny way of putting it. A feature, like the HD setting on a television. Humans probably didn’t think of it like that. If they could feel pain, was it an ever-present threat in their lives? Or did they learn to grin and bear it?
He wondered over these technicalities as he lay on the cold concrete floor of the small room he’d come to see as hell, panting. He didn’t think he’d ever learn to grin and bear it. Did that make androids weaker than humans? Perhaps, it was simply him, the ex deviant hunter, felled by what he dished out to others. A strange, mistimed, cyclical karma.
Karma for what, exactly? He didn’t know. But he’d been told and told and told. He deserved it. He deserved what these men were doing, the constant, agonizing torture. Because…
Because he was friends with Hank. And Hank deserved pain. Thus, he was the means via which they would serve it.
It wasn’t fair. Hank didn’t deserve pain. He didn’t want to be the go-between.
And why exactly did they want Hank to suffer?
Hell if he knew. Maybe they were the last remnants of the greasy underbelly of Detroit’s former red ice ring. Hank had taken a lot of them down. He smiled; grimaced. The door to the cell flung open. Click, click. Not the click of the button the greasy men pressed to serve a dagger of pain to his head. Just the click, click, of the metal door against the wall.
He didn’t open his eyes. Sometimes he took a strange pleasure in getting up, defiant, as it to escape. Today he felt like ignoring them.
And he’d only been here for…
A short while. Right? It wouldn’t be long before Hank found him. The DPD. Or Markus. Jericho. Maybe he’d only been here for a day and he just had a really, really low tolerance for pain.
Connor snorted.
“Get up, dipshit.”
He opened his eyes, expecting to see the gloating face of Detective Reed staring down at him. Nope. Just the brawn.
On his other side was the apparent brains. The brains who had placed the virus in his head, smart enough to stop him from removing it, too stupid to realise the damage it was causing. Tommy, Connor thinks his name was.
“Do it.” Brawns, only name ‘Boss’, demanded.
Click.
Connor swore as Tommy jabbed his finger on the pain-button. He hissed, hands scrabbling to reach for his head.
Click.
“Doesn’t this get boring?” He said through gritted teeth. “You won’t get much out of me. Hank barely makes any money.”
“Yeah, really?” Boss replied, grabbing his arm and tugging him to his feet. “Cops make the big bucks. So shut the fuck up.”
“Hank may make a… moderate wage. But he blows every pay check. He lacks impulse control.”
Boss laughed at him, pushing him onto the wooden chair. “Maybe it isn’t money we want outta him, ever think about that?”
“Then why did you—”
Click, click.
Connor groaned. “You’re going to give me brain damage.”
“Androids don’t got brains.”
“Actually—” He paused, seeing Tommy holding up the pain-button. “Nevermind.”
“That’s what I thought. Now, since you’re bein’ an asshole today… I won’t feel so bad about this. Camera on, right, Tom?”
“On it, Boss.”
“Now… you’re probably wonderin’ why we want Hank. Well, he owes us… he owes us a lot… For what shit he did to us.”
“Let me guess, he stopped your illegal drugs scheme?”
“Wow, would you look at that.” Boss laughed, before smacking him upside the face. “But I meant what I said before. Money won’t cut it. Fuck, I’d take everything he’s got, but that man’s a depressed drunk who doesn’t give a shit.”
“That’s a bit harsh.” Connor looked at the camera. “How does saying that help your ransom case?”
“So, I thought about waiting till he had something to are about again.”
“Sumo? You… wouldn’t hurt a dog, would you?”
“Nope. But I’d hurt an android. Shitty thing is, even when he got close to you, I couldn’t see what I could do but kidnap you and stick you in a box. And that wouldn’t hurt him enough.”
Boss checked the camera, snapping his fingers in front of the lens, before turning, pulling a blade from his pocket.
“Then Tommy figured out a way to make androids feel pain.”
Tommy gave everyone a thumbs-up.
“Good for you, Tommy.” Connor deadpanned.
“Yeah, alright, he’s a genius. So, I thought that’d upset him. Screw up his perfect android. Persuade him to come out here, get him. In fact, he’s on his way right now.”
Connor stared at him. “…what was this? Just a fun vacation? Because I’d give you a very bad rating.”
“Oh, it’ll be a short trip alright, Connor. A short trip indeed.”
There was the sound of sirens outside. Blaring, in an out, in and—
Click.
But through the haze… the haze of pain. Connor could sense something. That wasn’t right.
The pain-button, the pain, it made it all consuming. All consuming of reality. Sucking it into oblivion, a blackhole. Yet he felt as something dug into his leg, swift and deft, a sharp blade slicing through artificial skin, piercing wires. He thought he couldn’t move in this haze but he found the strength to scream.
“This is what happens when you get too close to Lieutenant Anderson. Remember that, Connor.”
The haze faded away.

sick Connor for the ask prompt? 👀
//oooh? I like this //Android Connor with a Virus
Hank was widely out of his depth. Connor had contracted a virus from one of the computers in evidence in the DPD. It was a failsafe of some kind that the perp had stuck on it in case an android tried to investigate her computer. Hank hated seeing him like this. In the android equivalent of a fevered haze. His soulful brown eyes coming in and out of focus, synthskin flickering on and off. He tried answering Hank the first couple of times he had checked in, but what had come out the first time was a loud blast of static, the second time was a high pitched tone that had sent both Hank and Sumo out of the room for the sake of their hearing. Hank didn’t know what to do. There was Kamski obviously, but the idea of taking Connor back to the Villa left a bad taste in his mouth. He also didn’t want to come to owe the eccentric genius a favor later on. Jericho then? Chloe was there, she knew just about all there was to know about androids, being the first of them. Could he get Connor to the car? Did he really have a choice? He didn’t know what this virus was doing to him, Nines had offered to interface but that was too big of a risk for Hank to be comfortable with. He peeked back into the living room to find Connor without his skin and brown eyes staring at nothing again. He needed to call Josh. He opened his phone and hit the android’s contact, he hoped he wasn’t interrupting anything by calling this early in the day, but this was an emergency and he needed help. Josh answered almost immediately.
“Hank?” Concern laced his voice. Hank couldn’t hear anything in the background so Hank assumed he was in Josh’s head for the time being. He had probably interrupted him at work then, “Is something wrong?” “Its Connor.” He said in a rush, “At worth this morning he interfaced with a computer in the evidence lock up and something is wrong. Its a virus I think.... he’s there sometimes but most if the time his eyes are just hollow. I tried checking in on him but I got static the first time and an electronic screech the second. I don’t know what’s wrong and I can’t move him on my own because I don’t want to do anymore damage. Just, I’m also worried about it getting transferred to one of you but, you guys are the only ones I trust with this.” “We’ll be careful Hank. Don’t worry alright?” Josh’s tone was placating and reassuring, “Markus, Simon, and I are on our way.” Hank breathed a small sigh of relief, he didn’t know how this would go, but he at least knew Connor was in good hands. “Thank you.” Josh hummed in response before he hung up. Hank tried to collect himself and made his way to the living room. Connor’s eyes were still lifeless and his LED was strobing red, yellow would come through in brief flashed but it never stayed. Sumo was sitting in front of the couch with his head resting on Connor’s stomach. The android was laid out on the couch, he had planned to go into stasis and try and fight off whatever this was, but they hadn’t been quick enough and the virus had taken hold. The synthskin was gone on the parts of him Hank could see, and the serial number branded into his cheek glared back at the older detective. It wasn’t as unsettling to see him like this anymore, what was unnerving Hank this time was the circumstances surrounding it. He reached out and squeezed Connor’s stiff hand hoping he could feel it wherever he was within the confines of his mind, “You’re gonna be alright Con.”
The 54 at the end of his serial number was an ugly reminder of the things he had come back from. The stress testing at CyberLife that still had him waking up on red some nights, Daniel and plummeting off that tower, the investigation, Amanda, the revolution, and this hopefully. The things he had been through Hank wouldn’t wish on anyone else, and if he could he would undo it for Connor too. He didn’t deserve that. After the cruelty he had been through he deserved more than this. He was pulled out of his thoughts by the knock at the front door and Sumo’s responding bark. Hank let go of Connor’s hand and answered the door. He was surprised to see Chloe at the door. She smiled kindly at him and he moved out of the way so they could come in. “He’s on the couch. He wanted to try to go into stasis before the worst of it set in.” He said dumbly. He moved through the living room to put Sumo in his bedroom so he wasn’t under foot. It wasn’t so much that he didn’t trust the androids’ ability to navigate around the massive dog, it was that he didn’t trust how Sumo would reaction under a combination of stress and unfamiliar company reaching for his best friend. “The drive home took too long I think...” He jumped when he felt a hand on his shoulder, he turned and found Simon, “This isn’t your fault Hank. we’ll get him back to Jericho and get this figured out. I promise.” Hank nodded, he knew that, but he still felt responsible. “I know, I just worry. I could have just had tech look at it and he wouldn’t be in this situation.” “Hank, look at me.” Simon’s voice didn’t leave much room for argument so he looked back toward the house keeping android instead of in the living room where Chloe was typing away at a laptop that was hooked up to Connor, “He would have looked at it anyway. This way you were here when something went wrong, because of you he isn’t going through it alone. He has a good friend in you. Remember that.”
Chloe worked on the laptop for about an hour, eventually she shook her head and closed it. That wasn’t a good sign, she stood up and smoothed out her shirt, she still dressed professionally, but tended to avoid dresses and skirts now Hank had noticed. She said something over their link and Markus and Josh moved to pick up Connor’s stiff form. She made her way to Hank and ran one of her hands through her ponytail. She took a moment to mull over her words. “I have good news, I’ve seen this before and I think we can fix it at Jericho.” She looked down, “I can’t say for sure how many of his memories he will get back though, he’s about halfway through a reset.” Hank must have made some kind of face because he took one of his hands in both of hers. “We’ll fix this Hank. Trust me.” Simon squeezed his shoulder, “You three take him, back to Jericho, I’ll stay with Hank for a while. When North gets back fill her in as well please.” Chloe nodded. She squeezed Hank’s hand one last time and then followed Josh and Markus out after she had grabbed her things.
Hank remembered letting Sumo out of the room and into the yard, but the things between that and arriving at Jericho after Simon had gotten a call was a blur. Now he was pacing the waiting room of the android equivalent of a hospital. North was watching him. Every so often she would head back to where they working on Connor, and when she would come back her face would be pinched with worry. Eventually she sighed and stepped into Hank’s path. He stopped and she put her hands on his shoulders. “For fuck’s sake sit down. You’re gonna wear a path into the floor.” She turned him and guided him over to the chairs. “They said it will be about an hour before he’s online again. They’re just making sure the virus is completely gone and didn’t bring anything else back online.” She meant Amanda, he knew that. Connor could undo everything they had fought so hard for if she got a hold of him again. North distracted him by talking about the things Jericho was working on. A lot of it was political, which was a bore to him, but a good distraction from his worry. They were also working on getting android friendly apartment complexes set up and working on getting job fairs set up for both humans and androids alike. He was glad to hear how much progress was being made. It didn’t feel like an hour had passed when Simon came down the hall into the waiting room. “He’ll be waking up soon, if you want to come back.” Simon smiled as Hank stood, “We’re gonna keep him a few days to make sure everything is how it’s supposed to be, and to make sure he rests.”
They followed Simon back. It looked like a hospital room the only difference was the lack of sterile smell. He was still hooked up to a thirium drip and there were machines monitoring his vitals. His synthskin was back and his LED was on a steady cycle of blue, he looked normal, not like he had just come out of android brain surgery. It was jarring, that after all the fear and panic, he was just back to normal. He was relieved to have Connor back. “You’re thinking very loudly Lieutenant.” Connor’s voice pulled him from his thoughts and he found himself smiling when he looked into vibrant brown eyes, “The virus is gone and everything is where its supposed to be Hank.” He followed it up with that stupid wink of his, and Hank knew they were in the clear. Hey stayed for a few hours, until he needed to get back to Sumo.
Over the next few days he received pictures from Connor as well as everyone else. The first couple days were him relaxing, helping Markus paint, helping North with paper work. The rest were from Connor usually featuring him getting in some kind of trouble. Likely for not taking it easy. His favorite though was from Simon, it was of Connor and Chloe singing as Markus played the piano. North was dancing with Josh in the background. It was good to have him back.

Promise Me
(Connor x Suicidal!Reader)
⚠️TW: Depression, Suicidal Thoughts, Drug/Alcohol Use, Mentions of Self Harm, Suicide Attempt⚠️
A/N: So as you can tell from the tw this one is going to be very dark and may be triggering for some readers. If you're going through a rough time and don't think you can handle reading depictions of these kinds of things PLEASE skip this one. I only feel comfortable writing about it because I've been living with depression and suicidal thoughts for a very long time, and writing comfort fics with my favourite fictional characters helps. Sorry for the long A/N I just want to make things clear and give a good warning.
————————————————
Your alarm clock blaring by you ears woke you up from your only escape from your reality, signalling it was 6am. Groaning, you lazily slapped the alarm off but made no attempt to get up. You knew you had work today but you just couldn't get yourself to stop staring up at the ceiling and into nothingness. What if you just didn't go in? Would anyone even notice? Would anyone even care?
No. No one cares. You're worthless.
And there it was. The voice in your head that sounded like your own yet betrayed you at every opportunity. Yet even so you couldn't help but believe it. After all, it was your thought wasn't it?
That's how it had always been.
Horrible words blending into your thoughts so seamlessly you managed to convince yourself they were normal. But no normal mind tried to tear itself down every time it was silent. That was the demon known as depression.
You've lived with this demon for as long as you've know. It was your normal. But recently it had been more and more frequent with it's hurtful words that spread through your mind like a deadly virus. The past couple of weeks had been especially difficult.
You tried everything you could to shift your mind to something else, anything else. You smoked pot, cigarettes, drank, you even slipped back into an especially dangerous copping mechanism. But none of those seemed to be enough. Every time they would come back. Your voice would spew venom at yourself in your own mind.
The only times you've managed to have any moment of peace was when you were asleep, or when you were with your only two friends. Hank, and Connor. You loved Hank, but it was Connors presence that really made you feel good. A feeling you longed to feel again every time he left. Was it just a silly crush? Or were you madly in love with him? Did it matter?
He would never love you back anyway.
Of all the thoughts that one might have hurt the most, because you knew it was actually true. He couldn't love you. He was, as he put it, 'a machine, designed to accomplish a task.' Therefore, it was a hopeless battle to think anything could come of it. Yet you still had hope. Maybe because you needed to have it to survive. Because if you didn't have that little hope, you might as well been dead.
It wasn't like you didn't have your reasons to hope, or maybe you really were that desperate. Connor was always so sweet to you, but then again e was sweet to everyone. Except Gavin. He would always get you a cup of hot chocolate in the mornings because you don't like coffee. Connor definitely didn't do that for anyone else. He does get Hank coffee in the mornings too. Then there was the fact you were one of the two people he talked to the most, aside from his detective work. Maybe he just pities you because he knows how fragile you are.
So, as you laid there staring up at the cieling, you decided to test that hope once and for all. See if there was anything to be hopeful about at all, or if he really was a machine who wouldn't love you the same way you loved him. You decided you weren't going to go to work that day, and you weren't going to call in either. If anyone were worried about you, if anyone even cared about you at all, they would check up on you, right?
Not if they don't even notice in the first place.
Hour after hour went by. No calls. At first you figured that it was still early and they probably just thought you were late. But you were never late, why would they think that? Aren't they worried? Not if they never cared to begin with.
At around 9am you couldn't take the overthinking anymore and just went back to sleep. You couldn't think if you weren't conscious. A little secret you learned in the game that is living. Sleeping was the best way to just escape. Especially if you were dreaming. That was the best part. Mostly because your dreams were the only place you could feel Connors arms around you, and his lips on yours.
When you woke up again it was 5 o'clock in the evening. However you didn't accomplish an impressive 8 hours of sleep uninterrupted. No, during that time you woke up just for a minute or two before going back to sleep at least a dozen times. That's usually how you slept most days. It almost felt weird when you sleep a long duration uninterrupted.
Glancing over at your phone, your heart dropped when you saw 0 notifications. Well, not including ones you got from youtube. You turned your phone off and tossed it onto a pile of clothes in the corner of your room.
Maybe they were just having a busy day and didn't notice you weren't there.
There was no way Connor wouldn't notice. He notices everything.
What you didn't know was that Connor was in fact not aware you weren't at the prescinct, but that was because he wasn't at the prescinct either. Connor and Hank had been called in to do a high stakes stakeout to bust a person who had been stealing and selling Cyberlife memorabilia illegally. They had to leave at around 4 am, way before you had to be at work. The entire time Connor was disappointed he'd have to break his streak of greeting one of his favourite people every day.
Truth was, Connor had grown quite attached to you. Despite the fact that he wasn't technically supposed to have any favorites. You were just so different from anyone else he had met. You were the first, and maybe only, human that actually referred to him as a friend. Or even treated him with a shred of decency in general. It made him feel....nice. You made him feel.
So, when the duo arrived at the office finally at around 4pm he noticed the lack of your presence immediately. He asked around the prescinct if anyone had seen you today and all of them, well the ones that actually talked to him, said they hadn't. He even went so far as to ask Fowler if you had called in only to be met with the same answer. Now he knew that was odd, that something was wrong.
He tried to call you when he was finished Hanks reports for him so the poor man could take a nap but you didn't answer your phone. Now he felt worried. A fact that only worried him more. However before he had the chance to go to your place to see if you were alright, he and Hank were needed to defuse a hostage situation at 6 pm. Of course, he immediately made his new mission his top priority, but every so often you would slip back into his mind.
It was currently 9 and you had managed to drag yourself from your bed to take care of your business in the bathroom a couple times since you had woken up. Everytime avoiding looking at your pathetic self in the mirror. But you would always go crawling back to the comfort of your bed. You didn't even leave your room yet. Not even to get anything to eat. It's not like you didn't want to, but whenever you thought about eating that damned voice in your head always ruined your appetite. So you just kept your eyes glued to your laptop as you laid buried under your blankets. YouTube was always a good distraction. That was until now.
Now that you glanced at the clock you were reminded of the fact that the work day had been over for you hours ago. The fact that no one seemed to care that you weren't there. You didn't even want to look at your phone. You already knew there weren't any missed calls or texts from anyone. No one cared enough.
If only you had actually looked, you would have seen how wrong you were. How wrong it was.
It was at 11pm when it was all just too much for you. Youtube wasn't doing its job in distracting you anymore and the thoughts just kept getting more and more persistent. The worst part was, you didn't even have the energy to fight them anymore. At this point, to you, they all just seemed to be facts. Like you were trying to get yourself to see the truth.
You weren't wanted.
You weren't needed.
You weren't missed.
You should just die.
You believed them.
Closing your laptop, you sat up in bed, letting your legs dangle off the side of the mattress. You looked down at your feet blankly. You couldn't even bring yourself to cry, you just felt numb as you prepared yourself for what you were about to do. Slowly, you got up and went to your bathroom. Once you were inside you made sure to avoid your own ruthless stare in the mirror.
You walked over to the bathtub and turned the nob of the faucet before sticking in the drain plug, not particularly caring about the temperature of the water. You weren't going to be using it for long anyways. Sitting on the edge of the bathtub you rolled up the sleeves of your hoodie and looked over your arms as you waited for the tub to fill. They were littered with many scars of many different ages. The oldest being more than a decade old, and the newest being only a mere few hours. You grabbed the razor from the sink and turned it over in your fingers. These next couple ones would be more permanent.
knock
knock
knock
The sound at your door didn't seem to reach your ears and were only met by silence. This caused Connor's LED to flicker into a pale yellow. Why weren't you answering? Were you harmed? The android tried knocking again, even calling out your name, but was met with nothing once more. He was just about to go and bust down your window like he had once done to Hank when said older man stopped him.
"Don't you even think about it," he said, pointing an accusatory finger at the android.
"But Lieutenant, (Y/n) might be-" Connor argued but was cut off when Hank held up the finger that was once pointing at him to signify 'one moment'.
Hank then bent down, with a little bit of a groan, before lifting up the corner of your welcome mat and plucking up a spare key. Once Hank stood back up with a huff, he shooed Connor away from the door before unlocking and opening it. Connor wasted no time cutting Hank off from the entrance and stepping inside.
Immediately upon entering Connor noted the complete darkness, but that didn't really matter much to him. Through the darkness he knew you weren't in the livingroom or kitchen, a fact made clearer when Hank flicked on the lights. However Connor also noted that there seemed to be no traces of a break-in or a struggle at all. At least not the definition of a struggle he was familiar with.
"(Y/n)?" he called out.
Silence
Connor moved through your home to where he assumed your bedroom. This was the first time he had entered your humble abode and under different circumstances he would've taken more time to investigate the surroundings. Get to know you a bit better. But right now that could wait until he was sure you were okay. He didn't know why it even seemed to be a priority but he couldn't just ignore it any longer.
Your room was just as dark as the rest of the house and also completely lacked your form. The only thing illuminating the room was the light coming from the bathroom which had it's door wide open. Before Hank could stop and scold him about the importance of privacy, Connor made a beeline towards the bathroom.
The sight that he had walked into made his LED flash a dangerous red and eyes widen. You were laying in your bathtub. Fully clothed. Water tinted pink. Your dangerously pale face. However it wasn't those small details that caused the android to suddenly rush over to your side. It was the two long gashes on both of your wrists. Upon scanning you he found that you had lost a lot of blood, but you were still alive. Barely, but he could work with that.
"Connor what the fuck are you- Jesus christ," Hank cut himself off once he saw for himself what was going on.
"Call an ambulance Lieutenant. (Y/n), (Y/n) can you hear me?" Connor managed to keep his voice calm and steady, a feat that took more effort than he would have liked.
The sound of Connor's voice, and feeling you body shift as he gently lifted you out of the cold water made your eyes gently flutter open. Your dulling (e/c) met with his worry written coffee brown ones.
"Connor...?" you called out weakly.
Despite the fact your vision was blurred from a mix of blood loss and building tears, you could recognize his form immediately. What you weren't sure of however was that if it was just a trick of the mond or not. A sense of comfort in your dying seconds.
"Yes (Y/n), it's me. I'm here, you're going to be okay," he said in the most reassuring tone he could muster.
As he spoke he took off his jacket and gently tied it around your left arm while doing the same with a towel for your right. Guilt and regret ate at you from the inside as you silently watched him, his LED still very red and blinking every so often. Hell you could even see the worry on his perfect features. Before you knew it tears started brimming your eyes before large droplets rolled down your pale cheeks.
"I-I'm sorry," you whispered, your voice cracking as your fragile body wracked with soft sobs.
Connor froze when he heard your little voice but it didn't take him another moment to hold you close to his chest.
"It's- It's going to be okay. It's all going to be okay (Y/n), I promise," Connors words were soft and confident, you almost believed him.
You heard what you thought was Hank's voice speak but you couldn't quite register what he said. It was becoming harder and harder to keep your eyes open. As if your eyelids suddenly weighed a million pounds. You shifted further into Connor and you barely heard him speak but the whole world seemed to be fading. Soon enough you closed your eyes and couldn't seem to open them again.
At least, not for several hours. When you did eventually flutter your eyes open again you were mixed with confusion, and then relief. You knew by the pristine white of everything, along with the abundance of machines you were hooked up to that you were in a hospital. As the memories of the previous night came flooding back your eyes dropped down to your newly bandaged arms, and an IV transferring blood into your system. Like last night, a deep sense of guilt, regret, and shame squeezed at your heart.
When your eyes wandered to your left you flinched slightly when you saw Connor standing next to the bed. His eyes were closed and his LED was gently flickering amber, you assumed he was in sleep mode. However as you jolted slightly at his presence, the sudden movement was enough to alert him back awake. His eyes fluttered open and were now on you, seemingly softening a tad the moment he registered it was you. Your eyes only met for a second before you shifted your gaze down to your hands. The guilt and shame made your eyes sting as tears threatened to form in full.
"How are you feeling, (Y/n)?" Connor asked, breaking the silence.
There was a certain sincerity you've never heard from him when he spoke. It made you heart clench but you weren't sure if it was in a good or bad way.
"I'm okay," you said, your voice hoarse and barely audible.
"Good, I'm glad," he replied.
There was another long silence between you two. The only thing keeping the room from being dead silent being the steady beeping and whirring of various machines. This time it was you who spoke up first.
"I'm s-sorry," you croaked.
Your voice was somehow quieter than before and it cracked near the end as your throat tightened up. You were trying desperately to hold back the tears but to no avail. Large teardrops fell from your eyes and rolled down your cheeks.
"I'm so so sorry," you continued, your body being wracked with heavy sobs.
Connor just stood there awkwardly, unsure of what to do for a brief moment. His LED went from blue, to golden, and flickered a dangerous red before settling back to golden. Suddenly, he reached out to grasp your hand. His grip was firm yet gentle, and it captured your attention immediately.
Honestly, he didn't know why he did it. But the sight of your fragile and vulnerable form made his biocomonants feel like they were being crushed. Much like how he felt when he first saw you last night. Except it wasn't nearly as bad. Last bight he felt like someone ripped out his therium pump altogether.
That alone made him confused as to why he felt anything to begin with. It was a question he had been asking himself for a while. At least almost as long as he'd met you. He'd run a million diagnostics on himself and they'd always come back with everything working smoothly. Even after last night. It baffled him.
However at this moment, when you looked up at him with your big, glossy (e/c) eyes, he ceased to think about it. All that mattered right now was you. That was all the information he needed.
"You don't need to be sorry," he said softly.
You intertwined your fingers with his and practically held onto him for dear life. Connor noted how your stress levels seemed to go down at his touch, so he decided to take a seat next to you at the edge of the bed. Once you realized what he was doing you scoot over slightly to make more room.
"Everything is alright, just take deep breaths. Can you do that for me?" he asked soothingly, tilting his head ever so slightly.
You nodded and closed your eyes, focusing on nothing but taking deep breaths. Well, that wasn't the only thing you were focused on. You were also focused on Connors fingers that were laced with yours. It really did help. After what felt like hours, your breath seemed to finally stabilize, and so did Connor's LED, settling on a calm blue.
"May I ask you something (Y/n)?" Connor inquired, a question you heard him ask often.
You opened your eyes and looked up to him. You didn't respond right away, knowing exactly what it was he was going to ask, and you dreaded having to answer it. But eventually, after a few moments of him patiently watching you with those warm chocolate eyes, you slowly nodded.
"Why did you do it?"
His voice was softer than ever, and confusion was written all over your face as he tried to understand. You had to look away from him before you broke down again. A soft sight escaped you and he gave your hand a little reassuring squeeze. You knew you had to tell him, so you took a deep breath before speaking.
"I.... I felt worthless. Like nobody cared if I was gone," you spoke slowly, avoiding Connor's eyes at all cost.
"I stayed home today to see if anyone would care if I wasn't there. No one called. I thought that meant I was right. That I didn't mean anything to anyone. That I was a waste of space. That I should just.....just die," you continued, surprised at yourself at how you were able to keep it together.
Connor listened, his LED whirring golden as he processed the information. He then waited for a moment or two before responding. Wanting to be absolutely sure you were finished before he spoke.
"I assure you that I was aware you were missing as soon as I returned to the prescinct. I regret that I wasn't able to bring you your morning hot chocolate," Connor smiled slightly as he spoke, but it soon dropped along with his gaze before he continued.
"But what I regret more was that I wasn't fast enough to stop you. I'm sorry (Y/n)," the sorrow he held in his voice, and the flucking of his now amber LED made you squeeze his hand reassuringly.
"Connor, if it weren't for you I'd be dead. You saved me. You have nothing to be sorry for," you offered him a weak smile once his eyes returned to you.
Connor returned the smile. It was awkward but it wasn't forced, and it was adorable. His LED returned to sky blue, his chocolatey brown hues glancing down at your intertwined fingers. He gently stroked your knuckles with his thumb, the small action making heat rise up into your cheeks. For the first time since you had been awake, there was a comfortable silence for a few moments before Connor spoke up.
"(Y/n), can you promise me something?" his eyes flicked up to meet yours as he spoke.
"What is it?" you replied, subconsciously tilting your own head.
A habit you picked up from the adorable android.
"Promise me you won't try to take your life again?"
"I promise. But can you promise me something?" you implored.
"As long as it's within my capabilities, I'll try," he said sincerely.
"Promise me you won't forget about me."
"I think I can manage that," he said with a little playful smile before adding,
"I promise."
