#how to pass kidney stones fast
Note
Why do you call your cat piss king? Is he really good at it or something?
hi anon!
we're gonna learn a bit about cat urinary systems and issues! it may be a bit TMI for the scope of the question but, given how few cat guardians know about this, I'm always looking for chances to educate since being informed can literally save a cat's life.
the main takeaway: if you notice that your cat cannot pee, HEAD TO THE EMERGENCY VET NOW, DO NOT PASS GO! full stop.
if they cannot pee, that is one of the few true emergencies in a healthy cat, and you NEED to treat it as such.
usually you'll see a blocked cat straining and vocalizing in the box, licking themselves, whining and highly reactive to being touched on the lower belly, and - of course - you won't see any proper urine in the box. there may be dribbles or blood, but no pee. this is a problem that escalates really fast, and can easily be lethal. do NOT fuck around with it.
what qualifies me to talk about this? it's exactly what happened to pekoe (peek for short) about three years ago.
proper Storytime and more detail below the cut.
see, the thing with cats is that their bladders are tiny and their kidneys are, uh, bad! so if they can't pee, not only is it incredibly painful, but the liquid and toxins building up in their system can do a LOT of organ damage in a VERY short amount of time. this can get very bad, very fast, and it is very easy for them to die from it if the issue can't be fixed easily and promptly.
usually, the vet will be able to get a catheter into the blocked cat to relieve the pressure, flush out their bladder if there's a physical blockage (ex, if they've made bladder crystals/stones, we gotta get those out of there!), and give them medication to prevent spasms and infection as they heal. a cat then needs to go on urinary-friendly food to prevent additional blockages for the rest of their lives, and some other lifestyle adjustments should be made to treat any underlying risk factors that the animal might have.
sometimes, however, that doesn't resolve the issue, and they block again. and if you're extra unlucky, they'll block AGAIN after that. and maybe again, for extra spice. if you're extra extra unlucky, this will all happen in the same week.
this is the situation that peek and i found ourselves in.
Tumblr media
picture the urinary system of a cat as a funnel, with the external bits being the tip of the funnel. when you ultimately need to make a funnel bigger because it can't drain anymore, what do you do?
you remove the tip.
this is an operation called a perineal urethrostomy, or a PU for short. it's a last resort salvage procedure that essentially removes the external genitalia of a male cat to widen the exit of the urinary tract and prevent future blockages. it's a difficult and delicate operation with a very long recovery time. it was also the only option left to save peek's life.
real talk before this next bit: i will never judge pet guardians for impossible decisions made in good faith based on qualified medical advice, in the interest of trying to do what's best for their pets. flat up, i don't stand for that shit.
okay? cool, let's keep going.
a PU is definitely not a surgery that has any guarantees, it can be very painful, it needs a very skilled vet to do it, and it's both expensive and difficult to see an animal through it safely. it was also the one option we had left to save peek, who was very very VERY sick at that point. the vet told me that she was also willing to do euthanasia, if the PU was not right for us, with zero judgment - the little guy had been through a lot of pain and several surgeries already, and doing this operation would be asking a lot more from an animal that was already very weak, with no guarantees of success.
he was briefly stable so i took him home to think about it and sat with him overnight. hours in the darkened living room, with my fluffy best friend sleeping fitfully in my arms like a sick baby. in the morning when he woke up he gave me a little lick on the face, and then a headbutt with a weak but undeniably hungry little meow. he hadn't had an appetite in a week, but now he wanted breakfast. in that moment, i knew he was letting me know that he wasn't finished fighting yet, so i knew the right decision for me was to keep fighting for him.
i called the vet, and we went ahead with the surgery.
i'll spare you the rest of the grisly details - the procedure was a success, and i was lucky enough to be able to work remotely and nurse him through the recovery. it was long and difficult and stressful. it sucked! it was crazy making. i would break down weeping with relief every single time i saw a dirty litter box for WEEKS. if you're reading this and going through it yourself, please feel free to reach out to me any time, okay?
but we persevered. i took care of him, and he rallied like a goddamn king. and hey. anon. guess what?
that was almost three years ago. his life went fully back to normal after he healed. you wouldn't know that this had happened if you didn't already know, because that fluffy little king still pisses like a champion race horse.
Tumblr media
so, that's the story of how pekoe became
THE PISS KING.

🚨Overdosing on your inhaler⚠️
The doctor I spoke with said inhaler ODing isn't well researched because most people don't over do it. However, it does happen to some asthmatic individuals, especially during desperate times. This was my experience and I hope to God no one will have to suffer the side effects like I have been the past few weeks. 😭
It started when I got a horrible cold and with my asthma, even a small upper respiratory infection suffocates me. With this big one, I was having asthma attacks too often to sleep for 3 days, the night before I ODed, I fell asleep on the bathroom floor because I needed the steam to sooth my lungs because I COULDN'T catch my breath, I would just keep coughing so much that I'd gag on trying to inhale. So, sleep deprivation was probably a factor in my poor judgement. I was taking Advair, a 12 hr inhaler and I got confused with the Albuterol, a 4 hr that's safe to take multiple puffs of if I NEED it to continue breathing. I was supposed to take 2 MAX of the Advair out of the entire day but instead I took 6 or more (I wasn't keeping track, I was too tired and spacey). That night, (exactly one week before Thanksgiving) I suddenly felt like my whole body was on fire, my heart was racing, I was shaking, pupils were dilated, I felt like I was dying a horrible death and wanted to go to the ER but my mom assured me I was fine and I just needed to wait for the steroids to pass out of my system. So, I just laid on the floor of my parent's bedroom all night going through the worst experience I've EVER gone through (kidney stone is a close second).
I use the Albuterol as a rescue inhaler because it's fast acting, it contains beta-agonists which reduce inflammation and bronchoconstriction to help increase airflow through the tubules in the lungs called bronchioles which get inflamed and restricted due to triggers aggravating them like a virus.
I've never taken Advair before, insurance suddenly decided Dulera (and before that, Symbicort) was no longer supported. Anyway, I misheard the directions when they were given to me verbally (God, the one time my autistic brain is too tired to process, it could have killed me!😵) and thought taking multiple was safe (the directions aren't on the inhaler itself, it's on the box that was thrown out). Anyway, these types of inhalers are only for preventative measures to make the bronchioles less sensitive to triggers and are a corticolsteroid.
So, inhalers aren't a medication that magically makes you less asthmatic, it's artificial cortisol, the stress hormone. It targets your nervous system and purposefully gives you mild stress (if you took the correct dosage, this wouldn't be as noticable) so your body's survival instincts will keep you from suffocating.
If you have allergies, you may be familiar with an EpiPen. They contain epinephrine which is artificial adrenaline and works the same way. Taking a dose of epinephrine is dangerous which is why it's ONLY used in emergencies and why you ALWAYS call 911 after using it.
So, the side effects of inhalers:
From Albuterol's website:
Nervousness or shakiness, headache, throat or nasal irritation, and muscle aches. More-serious — though less common — side effects include a rapid heart rate, called tachycardia, or feelings of fluttering or a pounding heart, called palpitations.
So, that explains a lot. 😨
And for Advair:
Upper respiratory tract infection, throat irritation, hoarseness and voice changes, thrush in your mouth or throat, bronchitis, cough, headache, and nausea and vomiting. In children with asthma, infections in the ear, nose, and throat are common.
I also read that some side effects of an inhaler can be seizures. Thank God that didn't happen.😬
What I've been personally experiencing weeks after the incident:
Coughing and tightness in my lungs and insomnia (how ironic this started because I was coughing so much and losing sleep over it. Now I've hardly slept in weeks). My chest has been hurting like CRAZY non-stop. Headaches and sharp pain for muscle cramps. My kidney where I had a kidney stone 3 years ago aches. Basically, every inch if my body hurts all the time, some parts much more than others. And WORST of all, episodes of reoccurring symptoms from that night where I feel like I'm dying again.
The panic attacks:
I never realized how disabling these Hellish experiences are! I can't function, my nerves are haywire and I feel like I'm in desperate need of medical attention. My chest pain has worsened, heart rate increased, a burning sensation in my chest (I assume it's the nerves themselves being inflamed) and I can't help but shake.
After following up with a doctor:
So, during one particularly bad panic attack, I was on the floor writhing in pain and crying, begging to be driven to the ER. They did an EKG, bedside echocardiogram, x-rays and blood tests and couldn't find anything wrong and diagnosed it as anxiety. Yeah, I've had moments when I'm really nervous or worried and might have called it anxiety at the time but this was WAY worse. It didn't seem triggered by any thoughts, it just happened whenever I'd try to be sleeping or watching a cartoon. It was explained to me that my BODY is traumatized, not necessarily my mind and it's coping and trying to protect itself by replaying the same horrible symptoms. I did follow up with my doctor's assistant who prescribed me anxiety meds and said the anti-depressants my GI prescribed for my IBS would work fine to start taking daily. She also referred to a therapist and I asked for a doctor's note to take my untrained service dog prospect to school with me as an ESA (the ADA only allows public access to fully trained service dogs and NOT ESAs but my school has an exception to that).
It's probably going to take a while to finally feel fine again, but, I'm glad I'm not dead, I learned A LOT and I'm slowly healing every day, even when I still feel awful. Also, I have a loving supportive family and dogs that take care of and comfort me. And I've never been more thankful this Thanksgiving for them and that I'll get to have a merry Christmas with them too.❤️
...
Side note: the day after ODing, I suddenly felt like I didn't have a cold anymore. I hypothesize because my body was under SO MUCH stress, it flooded itself with white blood cells as a response to being in survival mode which KOed the virus. When I had my kidney stone, I was in such immense pain, my white blood cell count was abnormally high which initially concerned the doctors until they concluded it was probably from the pain and stress my poor body was enduring.

Alexxxx prompt 5 or 12 from the prose section of the big swiss list <3 shivlina ALWAYS !
<3
12. Shame was something you passed like kidney stones, and it was leaving her body at last
Shiv never thought she’d make it to this point, but finally, it seemed, this was how she’d win the war. With her father buried underground along with her marriage, and whatever revenge plot she thought she could birth into the world medically evacuated from her body. All for the best, all for the best, she told herself. Not that she needed a mantra. She felt lighter already. Lighter than she had in months. Her future seemed so much more tangible now, within reach. She smiled in the elevator through the cramping her doctor warned her about, because it was a sign of it. It must be. Of the end of it all. Or the beginning. She’d learned by now that endings and beginnings looked pretty much the same up close.
The elevator stopped, and it occurred to Shiv that this would be her first night in her new apartment. It was still only half furnished and she dreaded what she’d need to catch up after her medical leave, but she couldn’t go back to the other place. Not as she was now, with her new skin. She didn’t feel particularly different in a deep, existential way, but she did feel unrestrained somehow. Untethered. She felt good.
So much of her adult life had been spent in a constant state of apprehension. So much of her life, the part that her father dictated, and it was a large part, was so often ruled by shame, that briefly, after his funeral, she considered she might be lost without him. She felt that about Tom, too. She let go of other things, other people, that didn’t ever contribute to the shame, out self preservation, she’d thought. They wounded her, those losses–self-inflicted wounds run deep, but that pain she was used to. It was the other pain, the loss of the shame she’d learned to trust as a constant, that she wasn’t sure she could survive without. She couldn't believe now how little it hurt to not have it anymore.
Shiv slowed her pace as she caught sight of something at her door. A huge floral arrangement, and she hesitated in reading the card at first before finally pulling it from the tiny envelope. It read: Happy Abortion!
She laughed softly. The first real laugh in a while. She knew who the sender was before she even got to reading the name at bottom.
Mondale greeted her at the door, and she petted him after setting the flowers down on the counter. She reached in her back pocket for her phone and dialed. Karolina answered on the second ring.
“Hey.”
“Thanks for the flowers.”
“Is it okay?” Karolina asked, and Shiv closed her eyes at the sound of her voice. It made the ache in her chest grow hotter, but she wanted it, needed it even. “Roman told me,” Karolina added. “I–are you okay? Was the doctor nice to you?”
Shiv smiled at that as she walked over to join Mondale on the couch.
“Yes. She was very nice.”
“Good.”
An unspoken thing hung in the silence that followed, and Shiv felt the imminent end of the conversation fast approaching, but something pushed her to not let it end. Some Eat Pray Love bullshit feeling inside her urged her to not let this moment end here.
“Hey, so, catch me up. What’d I miss?”
Karolina waited, and then sighed.
“Matsson and Ebba might be…involved again.”
Shiv laughed as she idly stroked behind Mondale’s ear.
“You’re joking. After the whole thing with the blood?”
“Yeah, well. I think they think they're being slick, but they’re very obvious, so I’m–preparing for whatever happens when it inevitably implodes.”
“Matsson and Ebba? Implode? No!”
Karolina laughed softly. Shiv bit her lip, considered not saying what she wanted to say. Anticipated the shame that would follow, but it was gone as soon as it appeared. Shame was something you passed like kidney stones, and it was leaving her body at last.
“Hey, Karolina?”
“Yeah?”
“I miss you.”
“I miss you, too.”

“Yes, Dustin, for the last time, I got the cake.” Dustin had a clipboard, where he was checking things off. “Chocolate with chocolate icing?” Steve rolled his eyes again for good measure and made sure his voice dripped in annoyance. “Yes, Henderson. I do listen when you talk, and all I’ve been hearing for the past week is chocolate-chocolate cake with chocolate icing - which I also got, before you ask.” “Well I just wanted to make sure, Steve. This is El’s first real birthday party and it needs to be perfect!”

“You can’t be serious about bringing him back on the team. After last time?” Vince hissed. “He’s a loose cannon, Dom.” Letty shook her head, which made Brian even more nervous. If Letty was against something, it might definitely be a bad move. “Nah." Dom smirked, looking off into the distance. "His buddy is the one who climbs into the cannons.” “You can’t be serious about bringing him back on the team. After last time?” Vince hissed. “He’s a loose cannon, Dom.” Letty shook her head, which made Brian even more nervous. If Letty was against something, it might definitely be a bad move. “Nah." Dom smirked, looking off into the distance. "His buddy is the one who climbs into the cannons.”
[podfic] come and rest your bones with me | Stranger Things | Steve/Eddie | 00:18:21
“We’re making a fort.” Steve is barely even halfway through the door when he is accosted with the declaration. His slick raincoat is still zipped up, his wet umbrella still wide open and dripping onto the porch behind him. “What?” He asks, fumbling to close the umbrella and shake it out before a stack of blankets are being shoved into his arms. “We are making a fort,” Eddie repeats, grinning at Steve. He’s got his own heap of blankets bundled against his chest, and when Steve glances past his shoulder he can see that the bones of said fort are already mostly established — Wayne’s armchair has already been moved from its cozy corner of the room to now sit directly across from the couch, and the coffee table has been pushed to the side so as to not be a nuisance to the building process. And, well, it sounds like a lot of fun, actually. “Yeah, sure, alright,” Steve replies with a huff of a laugh.
[filk] none compares with you (in my whump fanfics) | multivoice | Fandom | 00:03:43
You are my favorite character You're the one I always want to see In stories I'll write for hours You belong in my whump fanfics
[Filk] Life on Voice Team | multivoice | Fandom | 00:03:12
A filk of what it's like to be on Voice Team, to the Little mermaid song 'Under the Sea'
[podfic] folktale | Stranger Things | Wayne-centric | 01:01:57
It’s outlandish. It’s implausible. It’s beyond the scope of man, beyond the imagination of children. He wants to shake his head, wants to dismiss it the same way they would laugh at the end of each campfire story, the same way folks would turn their noses up at the talk from the old miners who see things in the coal dust and dark and heat, because everyone sees something in the mine. That’s just the nature of the shadow. Deciding to find his own answers, Wayne picks the wrong (or perhaps very right) moment to return to his trailer.
[podfic] Insect | Good Omens | Aziraphale/Crowley | 00:01:04
Poor Aziraphale and the outdoors
[podfic] Lovenerds | Stranger Things | Steve/Eddie | 00:10:03
Steve Harrington is many things: a jock, a good time, a dethroned king, a pretty damn good babysitter. One thing he is not is a nerd. Eddie Munson disagrees
[podfic] The Soft Romance of Growing Old | Supernatural | Destiel | 00:03:25
No one romanticizes growing old. Not the way they romanticize being young. A brief look at Dean's perspective on becoming an old man with Cas by his side.
[podfic] an aborted, "I love you" | Stranger Things | Steve/Eddie | 00:10:05
Steve’s thoroughly grateful that he’s listening to a message, and no response is required—can only stand there, jaw slack, at just how light his mother’s voice is. “A couple of work things fell through,” she continues with a breeziness that probably means several major ‘things’ went disastrously wrong, work related or otherwise. But it doesn’t sound like she cares all that much; if anything, she sounds excited. “So I thought we could—well, I don’t know how late we’ll be, but if you’re not too hungry, we could just order some pizza, lazy dinner? Plain cheese for you, right?” The distant ring of a bell on a counter. “Steve, darling, I know we haven’t been—” She cuts herself off with a sigh that’s gone too quickly for Steve to parse. He hasn’t ordered a plain cheese pizza since he was 12 years old. But she’s trying, he thinks. She’s trying.
baby dive in, cause the water feels fine | Schitt's Creek | Explicit | Alexis/Twyla | 1.1k; 00:10:10
Twyla can't help staring at Alexis's long legs and her itty bitty skirts
[podfic] 4B, Part Three: Christmas Jubilee | multivoice | Stranger Things | 00:12:32
“We’re having a Christmas party on the 23rd,” Robin says. “And our weird kids will not be portalling in through Hell this time.” “That’s good to know,” Maisie says, trying her best to plaster a grin on her face. She’s very good at feigning grins when the Interdimensional Portal Incident comes up. Josh and Maisie are invited to a very odd Christmas party. It's not so much the Christmas party that's odd, but the people who are attending it.

harlan guthrie sharing that he was having a baby is actually a pretty normal, non parasocial thing to do imo. i wouldn't call the number of children you have inappropriately intimate information to disclose.
inappropriately intimate information to disclose is more like sharing pictures of your real custody agreement paperwork, sending emotionally fraught screenshots from emails with your father with whom you have a strained relationship (and oversharing how this strained relationship informs your podcasts to people BRAND NEW to your server who just wanted to pay you a compliment), giving your personal home address to fans, and telling people about your kidney stones, including the symptoms you were experiencing.
here's where i'd joke "you know, as a hypothetical example", but being a one-off anon message, i'll be clear that yes, these are all real examples harlan guthrie shared publically in his very large discord server. he doesn't have a good grasp of boundaries or the general concept of parasociality, and the extremely weak and ill-enforced "rules" of his server both exemplify and contribute to this.
(he's also infamously fast and loose with the privacy of others, making a hobby of screenshotting and posting bad reviews of his shows without redacting usernames even after being told repeatedly that this was not cool. supposedly he really has stopped for good now, which would be good, but also he did give a child's real name and face in private conversation with two separate users in the recent 'nazi child' incident, so.)
first of the anonymous asks I got with stories/information on the whole Harlan Guthrie discord thing.
note: yeah I recognize the baby thing is probably just me, I don't like strangers knowing a lot about myself. so seeing others do it so freely and openly despite knowing they have thousands of fans is jarring and kind of scares me.
I'm not sure if I'm going to do more with each of these than just boost them and have them all gathered in one place, but depending on the kinds of correlating incidents that come in I may do something like a timeline of events or something showing patterns of behavior.
I will say that the last sentence of this ask DOES have context, which I learned from someone passing along this tumblr post:
let me know what people might find helpful. I know for some the goal of this kind of thing is going to have one place to point and start asking for accountability, it's nice to have stuff gathered.

Blog updates!! (10/7) Applying to all blogs!!!
Tumblr media
Hey! so I know I have been kind of absent for a hot minute. allow me to explain.
LONG POST, but PLEASE read if were mutuals!
Basically, about a month ago I started having some not so fun health symptoms (Pain, legargy hematuria (ill let google be your friend there) ). At first I thought i had a bad uti or another infection of some kind. The symptoms were on and off and I went to two appts at a clinic. First time said I had a UTI prescribed me medicine and sent me on my way. They ended up changing the antibiotic midway through saying it wasnt right. (This will be important later. )
So i took it, thinking they knew what they were talking about. But less than a week later the symptoms came back worse than before. I ended up going back to the clinic, who because when I was there, had no symptoms they could see (Thanks body.) They sent me home.  Fast forward about two days later, and it gets bad enough to go to my first Emergency room visit. They proceed to tell me the antibiotics werent going to treat a UTI of Any Kind (Amazing), but give me new medicine and send me home.
So there I am, taking medicines thinking, surely---this will be the end of it.
                       It was not.
Literally 24 hours later, I wake up in the WORST pain I have ever experienced in my life, unable to stop heaving, literally begging for it to stop. Back I end up at the hospital, who give me morphine (the pain was that bad.) and nausea medicine, and tell me after an MRI that lo and behold, a kidney stone is whats causing my pain.  One i cannot feesibly pass on my own. So they scheduled me for surgery. (That was the 28th).
Since, ive been recovering from said surgery over the past week. Its been on and off how I’ve felt and I’ve only really felt consistently better since wednesday. Ive still had a lot of nausea and pain. (Todays a bit of a bummer outlier cus im feeling some pain again).  I still have  till the 20th before I even get the stent removed they put in my kidney (fun). So Im still on a long road to recovery. But HOPEFULLY this will be IT, and it will be the last bout of recovery I have to worry about and I’ll be back in business as usual in a month.
So what does this mean for rp on my blogs?
Tumblr media
Well. I’m gonna be real, I miss rping a lot. But I havent felt great or really up to much of anything since this started. while its improving, its still very low in terms of energy, motivation and feeling well.
Because of this, I’m going to say my blogs are on SEMI-HIATUS until 11/10. (This is a preliminary date as It may be pushed back or forward depending on how fast i recover). This does not mean I will do NO rps, but i will be doing a lot LESS. There will be days where I’m not here at all, sometimes several in a row. && I will be likely only doing short replies/asks until I’m back in the swing of things.
***A little add on to this: I will be getting my next furbaby a golden retriever puppy between the 5th-9th of november. This will also CUT my activity but hopefully not as much as this health fiasco has been. I will be sharing pictures of him too when I get back dont even worry. He’s gonna be a spoiled lil bugger. but just in case i push the date further, or seem still low activity after the hiatus is over, this is probably why.
As always feel free to still send  me asks, or IMs. Or you can message me for my discord if you’d like to plot or talk! I’m still here, and I want to be here. I just didn’t account for a health emergency this year. 2022 has been a LOT for me.

This surgery involves the use of a thin, flexible tube called a ureteroscope, which is inserted through the urethra and bladder to reach the ureters. The ureteroscope allows doctors to see inside the urinary tract and perform various treatments, such as removing kidney stones, taking tissue samples for biopsy, or addressing blockages.
When is Ureteroscopy Needed?
Ureteroscopy is typically recommended for patients who have:
Kidney stones that are too large to pass naturally
Recurrent urinary tract infections
Unexplained bleeding in the urinary tract
Suspected tumors or abnormal growths in the urinary tract
Narrowing or blockages in the ureters

Preventing Kidney Stones: Diet and Lifestyle Tips for Optimal Renal Health
Discover effective diet and lifestyle tips to prevent kidney stones. Learn from experts at the best endourology care in Lucknow. Find urological solutions near you.
In today’s fast-paced world, maintaining optimal health is crucial, and one aspect often overlooked is kidney health. Kidney stones, though seemingly small, can cause significant discomfort and even lead to serious complications if left unchecked. However, by adopting simple yet effective diet and lifestyle changes, you can prevent the formation of kidney stones and promote overall renal health.
Understanding Kidney Stones:
Before delving into prevention strategies, it’s essential to grasp what kidney stones are and how they form. Kidney stones are hard deposits of minerals and salts that form in the kidneys. They can vary in size, from as small as a grain of sand to as large as a golf ball, and may cause excruciating pain when passing through the urinary tract.
Several factors contribute to the formation of kidney stones, including dehydration, dietary habits, and genetic predisposition. However, the good news is that many cases of kidney stones can be prevented through proactive measures.
Dietary Modifications:
One of the primary drivers of kidney stone formation is an imbalance of certain minerals and salts in the body. Therefore, making dietary adjustments is key to preventing their recurrence. Here are some dietary tips to reduce your risk of developing kidney stones:
Stay Hydrated: Adequate hydration is crucial for preventing kidney stones. Aim to drink at least 8 glasses of water per day to keep your urine diluted and flush out toxins effectively.
Limit Sodium Intake: High sodium levels can increase the risk of kidney stone formation. Opt for low-sodium alternatives and avoid processed foods, which are often high in salt content.
Moderate Protein Consumption: Diets rich in animal proteins, such as red meat and poultry, can contribute to the formation of kidney stones. Consider incorporating more plant-based protein sources like legumes and tofu into your meals.
Calcium-Rich Foods: Contrary to popular belief, consuming adequate amounts of calcium can actually help prevent kidney stones by binding with oxalates in the digestive tract. Include calcium-rich foods such as dairy products, leafy greens, and fortified foods in your diet.
Limit Oxalate-Rich Foods: While calcium is beneficial, excessive intake of foods high in oxalates, such as spinach, nuts, and chocolate, can increase the risk of kidney stone formation. Consume these foods in moderation and consider pairing them with calcium-rich foods to mitigate their effects.
Lifestyle Changes:
In addition to dietary modifications, certain lifestyle changes can further reduce your risk of developing kidney stones:
Maintain a Healthy Weight: Obesity is a known risk factor for kidney stones. By adopting a balanced diet and regular exercise routine, you can achieve and maintain a healthy weight, thus reducing your risk of stone formation.
Exercise Regularly: Regular physical activity not only helps maintain a healthy weight but also promotes overall kidney function. Aim for at least 30 minutes of moderate exercise most days of the week.
Manage Stress: Chronic stress can contribute to dehydration and poor dietary choices, increasing the risk of kidney stones. Practice stress-reduction techniques such as meditation, yoga, or deep breathing exercises to keep stress levels in check.
By incorporating these diet and lifestyle tips into your daily routine, you can take proactive steps towards preventing kidney stones and safeguarding your renal health. Remember, prevention is always better than cure. You can totally pass this ask up if you want to. But i was wondering if you would be comfortable sharing about your procedure? Nothing that would invade your privacy but just how you caught it, and what the procedure entails and if it’s painful. It is 100% okay if you are not comfortable sharing, but either way I’m hoping everything goes well for you, sending you all the good vibes and love 💙
okay so, I keep catching skin cancer. I noticed my first spot in college and almost every year like clockwork I catch another couple. I get them removed fast and most of them have come back as having several malignant cancer or pre cancer cells and a few have come back normal. I get them removed and the way they have me do it is see if anything comes back in the same spot.
I have only had one that has ever come back in the same location. And that was the one that had the most amount of cancer cells in it. And I got it removed again and then watched it again (pretty nasty scar in that spot). And so far, nothing has come back in that area. the doctors don’t think that I need to do anything too drastic as of yet, but it’s all pointing towards at some point it might get worse and there might be some medication and treatment involved. But I’m catching it fast because I know what it looks like. I usually get it taken off within the month.
Sometimes it is a little tricky because for instance, the one I am getting removed tomorrow, is on my back where I don’t normally see it. So I didn’t realize how big and dark that one had gotten until pretty recently.
And I honestly don’t know if this is because I just have a gene or something that is prone to getting skin cancer, or if it’s from all of the fucking time that I was in tanning beds when I was a teenager. But I’ve had stuff removed from my back, chest, stomach, and legs. And most of the time it’s a spot that I don’t have a freckle in, and then I get this really big dark freckle looking thing almost overnight. And a lot of time it’s black. So, I know it’s not a freckle or a mole.
The doctors also have me watch for any drastic medical changes. if I’m having issues breathing or thinking normally, then that likely means something is probably worse than just being on the top couple layers of my skin. I’ve had CT scans and MRIs and all that and there’s really nothing there (the worst thing they ever found while looking for cancer is kidney stones ✌🏻). It’s just mostly on my skin but it’s consistent, one is removed and another 1 or 2 pop up.
so check your skin, wear sunscreen and for the love of god stay out of tanning beds!

Cloudy urine: Know the common causes and treatments
Tumblr media
Cloudy urine can be due to a myriad of underlying causes. Get to know the right cause and available treatment options to address the issue of cloudy urine at the earliest.
Your normal urine is supposed to look clear or yellowish. However, if it looks cloudy, it might be a matter of concern for you. It could be due to multiple reasons like infection, kidney stones or other health concerns. Sometimes, it can be painful too. The sooner you get to know the cause, the quicker you can get it treated. Find out more about the causes of cloudy urine and treatment options.
What causes cloudy urine?
Cloudy urine can be attributed to various factors, and its causes may range from harmless to more serious underlying conditions. Some of the common causes are –
1. Dehydration
When you don’t drink enough water, it leads to concentrated urine with more minerals and sediments. “This can create crystals in the urine, making it look cloudy,” says urologist Dr Prakash Chandra Shetty. Many people might not drink enough water because of their fast-paced lives. Factors like drinking too much caffeine, not having access to clean water, and stress can make dehydration worse.
2. Urinary tract infection (UTI)
A urinary tract infection happens when bacteria spreads to your bladder, kidneys or urethra. These are the organs from where urine passes out. “In cities, where many people live close together, urinary tract infections are more common. This is because bacteria can easily spread in crowded places,” shares the expert.
Other symptoms include:
• Pain or burning sensation when you pee • An urge to pee more often • Leakage of urine • Pain in your lower belly
You can consult a healthcare professional to get the right medications prescribed to get rid of the bacteria.
3. Kidney stones

How to treat cloudy urine
The treatment for cloudy urine depends on the underlying cause. Some of the options are:
1. Proper hydration
“Increasing fluid intake is a common recommendation to address dehydration and dilute the urine,” says the expert. Dehydration is a matter that can be solved at the earliest by drinking more water every day. Putting ample fluids in your body will help to return the urine to its normal colour.
2. Medications for UTI and STIs
For urinary tract infections, antibiotics are often prescribed. These antibiotics will clear up the infection by killing the bacteria in your urinary organs. their formation. STIs necessitate appropriate antimicrobial treatment.
3. Prevention of kidney stones
Kidney stones may require medical intervention or lifestyle changes to prevent their formation. In some cases, kidney stones come out on their own naturally in the urine. In severe cases, non-invasive procedures are suggested by doctors to break up the bigger stones that are hard to pass through urine. Sometimes, surgery is recommended to remove stones.

Symptoms of Kidney Stones
At times small kidney stone passes through urine without any trouble, but large stone usually cause sudden pain in pelvic region. As a rule Dr.Abhishek says, more the bigger kidney stone is, more troublesome n painful is its passage. Further if this large stone stuck in our urinary track, it may cause following symptoms:
Sudden, and very severe radiating pain, in groin, back, abdomen, or genitals
Nausea and vomiting
Blood in the urine or muddy/ abnormal urine colours
Increase Frequency of urination which is very painful because body tries to expel the stone
Causes Kidney Stones?
Top cause of Kidney stone formation is when the calcium present in the body combines with either oxalate or phosphorous.
Uric acid, stone is formed due to faulty body metabolizes protein.
Certain allopathy medicine promote stones formation in kidney, such as furosemide, Xenical and topiramate among others.
Additionally, pain medications, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, ulcer medications, and even antibiotics can cause kidney and liver damage. This damage makes it more difficult for your body to remove toxins, leading to kidney stones.
Nsaid, pain killer, antibiotics cause liver and kidney damage, there by alter the process of detoxification and process of toxins removal- Causing Kidney stone.
How to Prevent Kidney Stones?
Increase your water intake:Dr.Abhishek recommended 3-4 liters of water intake daily, as a result of good water intake urine become less concentrated and more diluted. When urine is more concentrated, it increase the chances of stone formation, and difficult to pass concretion n stone through urination.
Regular Exercise: Exercise have multiple benefits for prevention and curing many ailments, this is the reason our Prime Minister Narender Modi Ji again and again give great emphasis on yoga and exercise in front of Indian media, so as to give this positive message to each and every Indian. Regular exercise helps controlling high blood pressure which helps our heart and kidneys in healthy state.
Consume less sugar. High sugar concentration disrupt our body mineral levels, leading to more concentration of our urine, making a kidney stone more likely to happen.
Consume good Quantity of magnesium in Diet. Magnesium is responsible for more than 200 biochemical reactions in our body. It also helps to prevent calcium from combining with oxalate – which is the most common type of renal stone. Magnesium rich food include green leafy vegetables like spinach and Swiss chard, avocados and seeds of pumpkin.
Consume good calcium intake. Consume less calcium in food leads to increase in oxalate levels, which can promote kidney stones. As per Dr.Abhishek few calcium supplements may leads to stone formation in kidney, hence it is best to take calcium in its natural.

How a Kidney Stone Diet Can Help
A kidney stone or a renal stone consists mostly of insoluble calcium oxalate that builds up over time. It can be a very painful condition and some people are more prone to having them than others, which can be due to several factors. Men are more prone to them than women and women that do develop stones typically occur after age 50. White people are more susceptible to them than any other race. Typically, when someone has had stones, the best way to prevent future formations is by kidney stones treatment via the diet.
 Symptoms
As a renal stone begins to make its way out of the body, the symptoms include sharp pain in the abdomen and groin area. Many people never know they have a renal stone since it is so tiny it easily makes its way out of the body. The larger stones are what causes the painful symptoms since the stone cannot easily be pass out of the body. If there is pain, as the body attempts to flush the stone out, there can be pink collared urine due to blood. Best Urologist in Jaipur
How diet can help with kidney stones
There are several renal stones diet that can help cut down on the chances of developing stones. Many of these diets are the same as what people will be on as they go through the various kidney failure stages. However, the kidney disease stages and renal stones do not necessarily have any correlation, but the diet itself can be very similar.
Foods to include in the diet
One similarity in any renal stones diet is that the sufferer must drink lots of water. The kidneys need the water to help flush out any current stones and prevent future stone formation. Next, the diet should consist of fresh fruits and vegetables and these are not just good for the kidneys but your entire body. Deep green vegetables are the healthiest. Eating foods such as watermelon, lemons, and cranberries help to detoxify the body. Urologist in Jaipur
Foods to avoid in the diet
Just as certain foods help the kidneys not form stones, other types of foods can add to the likelihood of development. Avoiding all processed foods and high fat foods that come by way of fast foods is helpful as these are difficult for the body to digest. High calcium amounts such as those found in dairy should also be eaten in minimal quantities. Other foods to avoid that contain oxalate include:
 • Spinach
• Beets
• Soybean crackers
• Okra
• Peanuts
• Sweet potatoes
• Chocolate
• Wheat germ
 Final thoughts
If you have suffered from a painful renal stone, your best solution is to take on the same type of diet as someone following a chronic kidney disease diet since the contents are similar. The idea is to feed the body foods low in calcium oxalate and healthier food choices so that the body doesn't have to work as hard digesting, which lessens the chances of stone formation.
