Waking up alone was disappointing but Y/n didn’t expect anything else, knowing that if Klaus had stayed until morning he would have been shot God knows how many times.

2 Days. That’s all she needed to wait, just 2 more days and then she could get away from this house, the constant guards, a mom that ignores everything that goes wrong around her and her father. Her father who she had loved and adored more than anyone in the world, her father who had been her hero only to become the man who ignores her existence and shoots her pet.

Just 2 Days…

Klaus knew he needed to tell her the truth. Getting her to leave with him and depend on him needed to happen first, he knew once she loved him that she could accept anything about him.

He also knew that she would willingly turn for him, Y/n was exactly the kind of girl who would want to be with him for eternity, already overly sensitive about the idea of being abandoned. After her father had abandoned her without ever leaving the same house, what else could anyone expect?

He had been working in the time away from Y/n on his Hybrids, having to go back to Mystic Falls to find out Doppleganger blood was what he needed to turn the wolves. Sadly he didn’t get back to Y/n until the third day away and he was worried that she would be upset with him. However, the house was finished thanks to compelled construction workers and interior designers working around the clock, his Hybrids guarded the house as he instructed them to and he was finally able to pick her up.

Sadly though he was not quite as sneaky as he thought approaching the house this time and he ended up snapping one of the guards necks before climbing up to the window. Klaus saw her on her bed drifting off to a movie on the TV and he tapped the glass to see her head pop up and her eyes widen in excitement making her jump up and nearly fall from the bed as she fumbled to yank the window open.

‘You’re late!’ She snapped, though her smiling face pointed to her not being overly upset about it before she pulled him in and hugged him.

‘I’m so sorry Princess, there were complications finishing the house and I wanted it to be perfect. I’m sorry if I made you doubt me-‘

‘No! I didn’t, I promise! Thought…maybe my dad had…I-‘

‘Oh baby. I’m so sorry, come here!’ He hugged her to his chest tightly, kissing her head before the tears could fall. ‘Are you ready to go? I had a complication getting in here so we need to hurry.’ Her head popped up with a startled look before she jumped to grab the large duffel bag under her bed, pulling it out and setting it on the bed before moving to her dresser and grabbing sweat pants and a long sleeved shirt. She changed fast as Klaus opened her bag to inspect it.

‘What’s wrong?’

‘I’ll get you a new laptop, your father can use this to track you, can’t bring it with us.’

‘Oh shit!’ She moved to grab a flash drive from her drawer before plugging it into the laptop and saving several things before deleting a bunch of things. ‘He’ll look through everything like he always does and find my journal. Wish I could see the look on his face when he sees how I really feel about him…both of them.’ There was a smile on her face but Klaus wrapped his arms around her from behind, seeing how sad she really was about it.

‘You’ll never have to listen to anything he says again. You’ll be happy with me, I promise.’ He swore, picking up the bag and moving to the window, watching her pull the sim card from her phone before tossing it onto the bed and following him. Klaus took hold of her and lifted her into his arms before jumping out the window, smiling at her small gasp as he did, quickly moving through the trees to get to the car he had left and setting her into the passenger seat.

‘Where are we going?’ She asked, clearly excited and clutching his hand as he began to drive.

‘We’re going to the airport-‘

‘My father will be able to find us there, he’ll find out where we-‘

‘Impossible. I have a jet fueled up and waiting, only the pilot knows where we’re going. He will not be able to find us, I promise.’ Klaus assured, kissing her hand and holding it firmly, watching as she tried to relax though he knew she wouldn’t until they were on the jet, far away.

He left the rental car with someone at the front before leading her through security quickly, compelling a security guard to fast track them through to get to their flight. ‘It’s so weird not being surrounded by guards in a public place, I feel like I’ve been let out of a bubble for the first time since I can remember and it’s like I can breathe deeper…does that sound stupid?’

‘Of course not Love, you’ve been confined your entire life, it’s normal to feel free now that you’re away from it all.’ He enjoyed watching her look around with a smile on her sweet face.

‘What’s that smell? It’s…sweet. It smells so good!’ She exclaimed, looking around in excitement.

‘The cinnamon buns maybe?’ Klaus said, pointing to the shop. ‘Do you want one?’ She nodded quickly and he led her over to grab a few of them for the flight before taking her to the jet that was waiting on them.

‘Woah…this is bigger than my Dads…I didn’t think that existed.’ The hybrid couldn’t help his chuckle at the clear innuendo that went over her head as she looked around, Klaus buckling her in and making her blush at even the small gesture of care he showed her as the jet took off. He couldn’t help but smile as the tension in her body seemed to completely disappear as they ascended, finally free from her father and his control.

The fact that she was now completely under Klaus’ control was a detail he didn’t think needed mentioning…

Somewhere in the Woods in New York

‘Where Is She?!’ He raged, holding his best friend by the front of his jacket.

‘I don’t know Buck-she must have gone out the window-‘

‘I have guards everywhere! How did she get passed them, Huh?! What do you-‘

‘Hun, whatever Y/n has done isn’t Steve’s fault and you’re going to regret killing him. You love him.’ His wife reminded, gently removing his hands from Steve and pulling Bucky close, feeling all of his muscles tensing at the idea of his baby being missing.

‘Someone has taken her, who should I be killing?!’ He demanded only to be met with a stern look from the mother of his child.

‘I don’t know who you think you’re talking to like that but it isn’t me.’ He sighed, pulling her into him and burying his face into her neck. ‘I know you’re worried, I’m worried too but this was inevitable. She did tell you she was going to leave-‘

‘She was being dramatic! She knows I love her, she wouldn’t…someone has taken her, only explanation!’ He insisted, beginning to pace across the floor, waiting for his men to check the security cameras.

Bucky is willing to admit that he isn’t the best father but he loves his daughter more than anything in the world. After all that has happened, all that he’s lost, he couldn’t risk losing her too. And maybe he held on too tight sometimes but he loved his baby more than he had ever loved anything. Every time he looks at her he sees that precious little bundle he was handed by a nurse, he was the first person to ever hold her and he swore to her that he would never let go.

‘Boss…you’re not gonna like this…’ Bucky looked up from where he sat with his wife holding onto him, the only thing keeping him grounded on this planet right now.

‘What is this? Where is this?!’ He demanded as he watched the video on the laptop that Sam handed to him.

‘It’s a camera from one of the back roads to the property. No one but security even knows they exist, we don’t know how anyone got there.’ Sam explained, standing just out of Buckys reach in case he decides to lash out.

‘What is he doing? Is…she’s kissing him…how does she even know him?! She’s always had security, who-‘ Bucky cut himself off as he thought back to Tony’s party the week before. He had seen this man before, he had smiled at him at the party, smirked more like it, and Bucky had wanted to slap that look off of his face…he should have killed him when he had the chance!

‘I’m not surprised.’ Buckys head snapped up to look at his wife who was clearly upset but no where near as physically upset as he was. ‘With how you treat her, smother her? An attractive man came along and promised her the world, of course she ran away with Prince Charming. Especially after what you pulled last week, I told you that dog thing would come back and bite us in the ass.’

‘Seriously?! How are you not upset-‘

‘I’m furious! But I’m also able to see how this came to happen and it is our fault. God knows what he’s promised her, but I’m not shocked she jumped at the first chance to get away from you-‘

‘She knows I love her-‘

‘No James, I don’t think she does.’ Buckys face fell as he heard his wife say this. Every fight they had, every punishment or mean word, he had always comforted himself by remembering that his daughter knows that he loves her and that he would kill or die for her. Now to hear that she might not truly believe that, Bucky swears that he heard his heart crack. ‘When she was young she did but you changed when she got older and I have no idea how she feels about you anymore. She doesn’t talk to me because she knows I will tell you everything. We fucked up, and we have to get her back.’

Once in a Blue Moon Ch. 9

Samantha was sitting out on the porch on the bench swing, scrolling through her phone. She probably should have gotten a pre-paid burner so he couldn’t track her, but it had been easy enough to transfer her data over to a new SIM card that didn’t have a tracking program built into it and if she kept location services off she should be good. Though it was nice to think about what the others would do if Jonathan suddenly showed up. Not that he had the stones to come himself. No, he would get someone else to “retrieve” her.

An odd feeling at the base of her skull had her looking up from the phone screen and she froze when she saw the massive pitch black wolf sitting at the base of the short stairs. Glacial blue eyes regarded her with trepidation and it gave a low whine the longer she stared at it.

“Oh for fuck—Mikey!” Sy said, coming out of the cabin. “I told ya not to do this! Not until she went through her first shift!” The wolf whined again, shrinking away slightly.

“That’s Mike?” She asked, not taking her eyes from the wolf.

“You don’t recognize’im?” Sy asked but she shook her head.

“Didn’t really get a good look before—” She watched him walk up the stairs slowly, and she leaned back in the bench as he approached her. His ears drooped and he laid his head in her lap, looking up at her. Setting aside her phone, her hands shook slightly as she laid them on his head, moving over his coarse but still soft fur. He seemed to melt under her touch, sitting down at her feet and giving a sigh that shook his chest. “I forgive you.” She said, “It was an accident. You didn’t do it on purpose.” Picking his head up, he licked her cheek, making her smile. “Also, you’re adorable. So how could I hold it against you?” His tail started wagging back and forth, thumping against the bars of the porch railing. “More of a golden retriever than a wolf.” His head tilted to the side slightly, one of his ears perking up and she snorted, leaning forward to press a kiss between his eyes.

It was late, everyone having gone to bed and Samantha woke to gentle kisses to her face and eyes.

“Walter?” She asked, her eyes opening, but it was Jonathan not Walter and his hand came up too fast, fingers wrapping around her throat.

Fear jolted her awake and she sat up, rubbing at her neck, still feeling his hand around it.

“Love?” Walter asked, reaching out to touch her gently, “What's wrong?”

“Nothing.” She said immediately, “Bad dream. Go back to sleep.”

“Come here.” He said, opening his arms for her and she hesitated a moment before going to him and letting herself be enveloped in his warmth, accepting the comfort he was offering. “I'll protect you.” She didn't say anything, relaxing against his chest and breathing in his scent. It didn't take long for him to go back to sleep, but it was a little more elusive for her and she was awake until the dawn sun started to peek through the curtains.

She stood at the kitchen counter, waiting for the coffee maker, fatigue pulling at her eyes. Even after she had managed to go to sleep again, it was fitful, with vague nightmares of Jonathan popping in every time she managed to slip fully under. There was a presence at her back, strong arms wrapping around her waist, and she knew who it was without turning around. She was wearing one of Augusts’ shirts, her legs and feet bare, and they loved when she wore their clothing, covering herself in their scent. His arms tightened as his mouth buried in the bend of her shoulder, holding her close and making her smile.

“You're so damn sexy, you know that?” He asked, his mustache tickling her skin.

“So you all keep telling me.” She said.

“Fuck.” August said, his mouth moving over her skin, “I could take you right here.”

“I’m sorry, I didn't sleep well last night, so I'm a bit tired.”

“Walter keep you up?” There was no hint of jealousy in the question. They had no problems with her being with the others, no issues that she and Geralt had already slept together and they hadn't yet. At least, seemingly no problems.

“Nightmares.” She said, shaking her head, and he hummed. “I’ll be fine, just need some coffee.”

“You need sleep.” August said and reached past her, turning off the coffee maker.

“August...” She sighed, but he ignored her, picking her up in his arms in a bridal carry and carrying her from the kitchen and back up the stairs to his room. “You guys need to stop just scooping me up and carrying me off like a bunch of cavemen.”

“Be grateful we’re not throwing you over our shoulders.” He said and she snorted. Laying her down on his bed, he got undressed and climbed onto it with her, covering them both with the blanket and pulling her into his arms. He was so strong, and warm, and she fell asleep with his scent in her nose and his heartbeat in her ear.

Her rest was more peaceful this time and she woke later to August pressing kisses to her face and neck. Sensing that she was awake, he pulled one of her legs around his waist and her breath hitched as he pressed between her legs, thick and hard.

“Oh, Alpha.” She breathed, the words coming from an unknown place and he groaned, his hips rolling into her. He took her mouth hard, pushing his tongue past her lips as his fingers worked at the buttons of his shirt that she was wearing.

“Fuck it.” He growled and tore it open making her gasp. He rolled her onto her back and went to his knees between her legs, pushing the shirt open and mapping her body with his hands, palming her breasts and squeezing gently. “Fuck, you’re so beautiful.” A hand went between her legs, his thumb going under the fabric covering her center, finding her with almost laser precision and starting to circle around her clit. “So soft, you’re getting so wet.” Pushing aside her underwear, he slid two fingers into her as he leaned over her, pumping them lazily as he continued to work at her with his thumb.

“Fuck, August.” She whined, reaching up to grab his pillows above her head as her hips moved against his hand. “Please August. Please Alpha.”

“Don’t worry, Princess. I’ll take care of you.” He said and slid her small clothes down and off before parting her legs again. He pushed his own boxer briefs down only so much as to free himself, taking himself in his hand and stroking as he looked at her spread out under him. With a hand under her hips, he pulled her into his lap, looking between them as he aligned them. Holding her still, he rolled his hips forward, shuddering as she parted for him, spreading around him in tight, wet, heat.

“You’re so big.” She whimpered and he pulled back only to push forward again, working himself inside her until they were joined fully, his base pressed against her smooth mound.

“Fuck.” He breathed, basking in the feeling of them together before he started to move, rocking into her rhythmically, his eyes fixed on where they were joined, watching as he vanished into her again and again, his hands around her hips as she started to move against him. “That’s it, that’s my good girl.”

“You feel so fucking good.” She said, and he wanted to ask if he felt better than her husband in a spat of pettiness, but figured that would ruin the mood. Leaning over her, her hands went to his hair and shoulders as he kissed her, grunting into her mouth. “Yes, just like that.”

“I want to feel you come, Samantha.” He said, “Be a good girl, come on my cock.” The movement of her hips against his increased in speed as she began chasing her release and pulled him into a kiss of her own as she pushed flush against him, almost sobbing against his lips as she pulsed and clenched around him. “God fucking damnit.” Going back up onto his knees, he held her hips in his hands, pounding into her at a relentless pace before giving an almost vicious snarl, seating himself in her fully as he released into her. His lungs burned as he fought to catch his breath, almost collapsing next to her on the bed. Her lips pressed to his chest, tasting the sweat on his skin and he held the side of her jaw, pulling her into a kiss.

“You’re still hard.” She said and he nodded. “Let me help you with that.” August pushed his boxer briefs off the rest of the way, watching as she swung a leg over his hips, sitting up on him and easing down onto him with her hands pressed against his lower stomach.

He has it with him. It’s in his backpack, then, on the seat of his car, after, in his coffee table. He looks at it, the pit of his stomach churns, his head spins, he feels like throwing up. He lifts his hand from where it’s laying on his knee and tries to touch it. He can’t. He bolts from the sofa, dropping one of his favorite cushions on the floor, and walks. 

He goes out. It’s the middle of the night. He hasn’t eaten since lunch. It 's 03:00 am and he feels like walking. There is really nowhere to go. Nowhere to hide.

“ It’s with me” He tells himself. “ It’s with me, its mine” 

Then why does it feel bad? When all his life it has been good.  But it’s been touched, been held, been read most probably. He doesn’t, not even for a second, believe that stupid note. 

“Found it! Dk. Didn’t read, just enough to see your name. Sorry”

Finding it in his locker had been a blessing in disguise. The days, four days he had been without it had been excruciatingly long. In the meetings, looking around, trying to see who looked at him weird, who knew. 

In the hallways, paranoid, in the sim, in everywhere he went. He felt naked. But now, now he felt as if his skin had been peeled off, leaving only the bare bones of his being exposed. 

He turned around. A ‘U’ turn like the one in Monaco. He tried to keep himself calm.

“ Breathe, breathe, breathe” 

But the air in his lungs was failing him. He wondered for a second if he even had air in them. His pace was fast, his legs burned, when he looked up from his feet he realized he was running. Running and running. 

When he was a kid he liked to run as much as he liked to drive and race. Because when he didn't have his kart, when he wasn’t on the track, he could run and imagine the lines, the curves, the stops. Sometimes, as young as he was, he imagined crashes, and red flags when he needed to drink water. 

His mother joked that when he retired from F1, because there was never a doubt in her mind that he would make it, he could be a track coach. Teach kids how to run as fast as he could. As focused as he was. 

In his apartment he didn’t even think it, he grabbed the notebook, opened a new page and scrambled to find a pen. He only found the sharpy he used to sign cards and stuff the marketing team gave him. 

“Mom, people watch me. They watch their TV’s, their phones and look at my face. But do any of them see me? I need to know what you would say. Even when I know the answer.”

When he lifted the pen, he saw the chicken scratch of a handwriting he had left, engraved on that notebook, that notebook he loved, but that didn’t feel his anymore. The letters curved and dissolved, the A’s were round, the T’s sharp. It was the same handwriting he used to have, back in boarding school. Back when he started writing. 

He closed the notebook with force, the coffee table moved a bit, and because it was old, it made a little sound that seemed too loud in the apartment, when the world was dead, and it was only him, the little light in the corner on, because he never liked the big ceiling lights. 

The phone rang. Beside the notebook was his phone, and it seemed absurd to pick it up, not now, not ever. It was dramatic, but he didn’t remember how to talk. He didn’t remember how to be him. The ringing stopped. And on the screen it read. 

3 missed calls. 2 new messages. 

Two calls and one message were from his mom. One call and one message were from Lando. 

He picked the phone. His hands were shaking. He looked at the screen for a moment that seemed too long, the screen got wet. As he dried it with his hoodie, he considered calling his mom. But he couldn’t and he wouldn’t. Not for now. He had the excuse of it being late at night. He had the excuse that he had work tomorrow. And that when he was working he always slept well. He pressed the message from his mom. 02.45 am. 

“Honey, how are you? Call me, okay? I miss you, and I need to talk to you. Love you honey, bye” 

Then, Lando’s. It was sent at 02:31 am. Thirty seconds, most of them, pure silence. The breathing through Lando’s nose that hit the phone. The muted sound of a club in the background. The sound of a feeling he couldn’t pinpoint. 

“ Oscar- Oscar I need to talk to you, like right now… I mean- I mean it can wait ‘till tomorrow I guess… I’m sorry, okay? I can explain, but please just call me… I didn’t mean to screw everything up… I really didn’t.”

“Osc... Please just call me, please” 

And something, like a knot fell from his brain to his stomach, bouncing around like a tire that got loose. He felt as if he couldn’t breathe. He tried to lay back but his body was stiff. The world was a blur besides his phone and that damn notebook. 

The phone. The notebook. His life. All things that days, even moments ago seemed so his, didn’t belong to him anymore. And it kept ringing, vibrating in his hand after silencing it. His hands failed him, betrayed him. But he pressed all the buttons, confirmed all the ‘Are you sure?’ And when the final word on the screen read, ‘blocked’ did he turn back to reality. 

The humming of the refrigerator in the background, that annoying thing now kept him tethered. This was reality. Oscar knew who it was. His mom knew about the letters. Lando knew everything. And there was nothing to do to take it back. He took the notebook from the table, he looked at it. It wasn’t the same. 

He threw it against the wall. The sound pierced like a bullet. Then he laid on the sofa, pretended everything was fine. Though it wasn’t. For the first time in a long time, he didn’t wish to be someone, he just needed to be nothing, no one. How could he be so stupid?

“That’s not true! I don’t pick favorites!” Mikey pleads.

“Yes you do! And it’s me! Did you think you weren’t being obvious!? Atlas knows just how much you hate him!”

“How could you say that!?”

“Think, Icarus. Actually use your brain and think! How could I!? Why wouldn’t I!? Just like why wouldn’t Apollo leave this little present on your face?” Leo shifts his hand to grab at the marks covered with the bandaid.

“Let him go!” April shouts.

Leo cocks his head.

“Or what? You and the traitor are going to stop me? Go ahead! Try! It’d be funny!”

Casey gets into a defensive before a portal opens under her and tosses her into a tree where she tumbles down various branches. She lands on the ground with a thud. April screams her name.

Mikey reacts without thinking.

He lowers his head and lifts his foot. The back of his head smashes into Leo’s masked covered face as his foot takes out Leo’s knee cap. Leo releases Mikey and stumbles backwards. Mikey runs away from him and towards April.

“TODD!! We need help!” He yells.

April’s hand gets grabbed by him. She can’t help but look back at Leo while being led away. By far, the most unnerving part is not being able to see anything of his face.

All he has is his body language and tone of voice. Leo loves making facial expressions. He calls himself the face man.

Taking it away is beyond cruel.

Todd charges forward with his army of puppies, putting the cap of his famous lemonade in his teeth before twisting it off and spitting it out.

“This will hurt me more than it hurts you!” He downs the drink and goes into his saiyan mode.

Leo shakes with rage, standing up somewhat off balance because his knee is still recovering from Mikey’s hit.

April looks forward again as Mikey pulls her faster. She knows why. The daylight is starting to wane. They’re going to be trapped in the dark woods soon, with Leo.

They’d be safer with a wild animal.

Someone might argue that he is one right now. What he is, it’s much worse than that. A wild animal bites and scratches and attacks without much coordination.

Leo plans everything.

Mikey rushes over to Casey.

“Please please please don’t be dead!”

Casey groans.

Mikey breathes a sigh in relief and puts her over his shoulder before rushing off with her and April again.

“There’s no way we’re going to outrun him! Todd might be secretly crazy jacked but he won’t buy us too much time.” April urges.

“Then we don’t outrun him! We hide. They say you can run but you can’t hide, so the opposite has to be true!….Right?” Mikey smiles hopefully.

“Oh we are so doomed. We need a real plan!”

“We’re out of the plan guys! All I have is razzmatazz!” He whines.

They can hear the battle becoming more intense.

“Ugh! Fine! I’ll make the plan!“ She grabs Mikey’s phone and throws it as hard as she possibly can away from them before taking Casey’s phone from her pocket.

“Can’t they track that too!?”

“It’s fine, Donnie taught me how to go off grid!” She removes the sim card, turns off the Bluetooth, and turns airplane mode on.

She then dims the brightness completely.

“How are we supposed to make calls!?”

“We’re not! I’ve got something else we’re gonna use it for. Now stop giving away our position!” April whisper shouts.

The three of them search for the best hiding place they can make in this situation, a large enough bush, and stay quiet.

Sunlight finally dies as the moon takes over.

April’s heart nearly beats right out of her chest at every single noise they hear. She curls around Mikey like she’d be able to protect him somehow. Deep down April knows she stands no chance.

Mikey keeps a close eye on Casey. She wasn’t knocked out, but it’s probably better for all of them that she doesn’t move or make a noise anyways. Her pride is as wounded as she is.

The noises of the forest turn more purposeful. Someone, something, is walking nearby. Labored breathing becomes apparent. Listening closely, the steps made made are uneven.

“Ha….ha….Mikeyyyyyy! That was a good hit! It hurt! It really hurt!” Leo growls out so much his voice nearly sounds distorted.

Mikey shakes in April’s arms. She holds him closer and turns the phone on. After tapping through the clock app, she throws it as far as she can.

Leo moves faster towards the noise. He starts digging through bushes in the area. Once an alarm goes off, he dives at it. It’s like the noise itself set him off.

A good enough distraction.

April helps Mikey and Casey start heading back the way they came. They’d be able to find out how to get to the highway again there. There’s also a lot more solid hiding places.

She suddenly feels a hard shove to her back that sends her and Casey sprawling on the ground. April manages to see Mikey get tackled so roughly they roll for a bit.

Leo is pinning Mikey to the ground once they stop. Mikey can see blood that has dropped down from under the mask and down Leo’s neck. Guilt pools in his gut over knowing that it was his doing.

“You got better at that game, Icarus! But it’s over now! I finally got you!” Leo laughs hard, too hard.

April tries to get her body to move to help, but it’s not cooperating.

Mikey turns his head, giving her a weak smile. He’s trying to tell her that it’s going to be alright.

Leo grips his plastron and smacks Mikey into the ground again.

“HEY! You’re paying attention to ME!” He barks.

Mikey grunts from the impact but keeps his smile.

“Leo? Are you okay?”

Leo stills. He’s caught off guard by the question.

“You hit me! You sent Todd after me! You think I’ll say I’m fine to make you feel better!? I’m bleeding because of you! I’ve got bruises!”

April doesn’t miss how Leo actually responded to his name this time.

“I didn’t want to do that to you. You know I didn’t. I love you so much-!”

“NO YOU DON’T! But you will…..we’re going to be perfect!”

Mikey takes his arm out of Leo’s grip and reaches up to try to put his hand under the mask.

“We don’t need to be perfect. We’re us! That’s way better.”

Leo’s breathing starts evening out.

“You….you don’t get it….”

“Then help me so I can.” Mikey gets his hand partially inside, but a tendril wriggles its way to his finger.

Leo pulls away before it can start imbedding itself anywhere. He grabs Mikey by his wrist and stands up, raising him at the same time with viciousness.

“WHAT ARE YOU THINKING!?”

Mikey shouts in pain. His shoulder might be dislocated right about now.

April screams for Leo to let him go.

Another voice joins hers.

“B-Blue! Put your brother down!” Splinter stutters out, skidding to a stop once he fully sees what’s happening.

“You’re late to the game, has-been! The soup is cold! If you want him down, I’ll get him down!” Leo opens up a portal and drops Mikey in.

April and Splinter yell and move at the same time. Leo drops in behind Mikey and closes the portal after himself, letting the other two land on the dirt instead.

Mikey lands on his arm and writhes in pain on the ground, tearing up.

“Oh walk it off! You’ve been through worse!” Leo taunts.

Mikey looks at him with wide eyes. How could he have switched back to this so fast? He was getting through to him! Draxum wasn’t even there to stop it from happening! What went wrong?

Was it when put his hand under the mask?

Leo said….

Oh.

Oh no.

That’s what went wrong.

Mikey wasn’t thinking. Again.

He might have gotten controlled somehow just like them if Leo hadn’t stopped him. How many times are his brothers going to have to pick up the slack because he just can’t seem to make the right decisions!?

No.

If he just keeps blaming himself, he’s not going to be able to help them. Mikey got through to Leo and Leo stopped Mikey from being like him.

It has to mean something.

He can reach him again.

There’s hope. Always.

Leo picks him up again, shaking him around.

“Hello!? Earth to Icarus!? I’m talking to you!”

“I-I’m not-!”

Mikey gets grabbed and lifted up from behind. He reaches back and kicks the air.

“Stop! Let me go!”

“Draxum’s waiting. Stop pissing him off already.” Raph growls slightly.

Mikey’s jaw drops.

“R-Raph, no….”

“He’s the most pathetic of us all. Falling for the same traps over and over again. If it’s not removed, he’ll be a complete failure.” Donnie comments, popping up and grabbing at Mikey’s face way too hard, analyzing.

Mikey tries to pull it away, but Donnie grips it tighter.

“Stop wriggling, brat. Don’t embarrass us.”

Mikey tears up again.

Leo finally pulls him out of all the grips he found himself in.

“It’s too early for any of you to be even touching him! Draxum told me to get him, not either of you!”

Donnie hisses.

Raph snarls.

Leo clicks back.

“Don’t make me show you why I’m his favorite.”

Donnie and Raph stand there, unmoving but staring hard enough for tension to just fill the room.

Eventually, but with great reluctance, the two leave, keeping their stares until the very last moment when they leave line of sight.

“They’ll be back. You’ll be ready for them next time. You don’t have a choice.”

Leo enters another room and tosses Mikey down to the ground near Draxum. The sheep man looks at them with such joy that it makes Mikey even more scared than he already is. How could he look so happy after everything he’s made his brothers do? He took the people who he cared about most and turned them into unwilling monsters.

Mikey’s shoulders shake as his hands grip the ground.

“Y-You can’t do this. D-Don’t make me like them.”

Draxum holds his hand out to his side expectingly. Leo, despite still being in rough shape, gets a mask from the table and gives it to him.

Mikey trembles even more, tears falling and wetting the floor as he looks up at Draxum.

“You shouldn’t be crying. You’re going to complete the set. You’ve been begging for your brothers back, haven’t you? Allow me to start the reunification process.” Draxum starts walking closer.

Mikey’s breathing becomes more panicked. He doesn’t want Draxum to be the last thing he sees in his final bit of sanity. So, his eyes moved to where Leo’s should be if they hadn’t been replaced black voids.

“L-Leo. Please. Help!”

“Your pleas may not go unheard, but they are unanswered.” Draxum leans forward to place the mask.

Mikey shuts his eyes tight.

He hears a few things as once.

A cut, a squish, and a grunt.

Something splashed on his face.

Mikey opens his eyes only to scream.

Leo has stabbed Draxum right through the abdomen. The mask drops from the latter’s hands as he reaches for the blade coming out in front of him.

Leo pushes it further, making Draxum cough up blood and make another pained noise. This one is more of a wheeze. He drops to his knees.

The katana is finally taken out with more sickening noises. Leo slashes it down, tossing blood droplets off. He then opens up a portal and shoves him in. It closes right after.

There was very little time for Mikey to take in a single thing that just happened, let alone all of it.

Leo kneels down and grabs Mikey’s cheek slightly roughly, in a way that would have been comforting in any other situation. His fingers dig into his skin.

“See? I helped.”

Six women have been rescued from the back of a lorry in France, after the BBC helped track them down and alert the police.

The four Vietnamese and two Iraqis, thought to be migrants, were trapped inside, panicking and struggling to breathe. One of them spoke to the BBC from inside the lorry.

The BBC then helped to contact the police, who stopped the lorry.

French police have arrested the lorry driver.

They have also opened an investigation into a suspected human trafficking operation.

Here's the story of what happened.

At around midday on Wednesday, my phone screen lit up. It was a message that read: "There are some people who crossed the border from France to England in a refrigerated van."

Before I could finish reading the message, a call came in.

"Are you in Europe? Please help, it's urgent," a panicked voice rang out.

I felt cold all over. The tragic story of 39 Vietnamese migrants found dead after suffocating in a lorry trailer back in 2019 in Essex was still fresh in my mind.

I didn't know who the caller was, but believed he knew me from when I covered the Essex lorry deaths, as a lot of Vietnamese people approached me that time.

I asked the caller a few questions, but quickly became frustrated at not being able to get the information I needed.

This is what I learnt - there was a group of about six people hiding in the lorry, its licence plate number was unknown, as was its location and the direction it was heading in.

All I knew at this point, from what the caller had told me, was that the vehicle was in France, but seemed to have turned around and was no longer going towards its original destination - the border to England.

I was told the six women were in the trunk of the lorry and that the air conditioning started to turn on. Those inside were very cold and were panicking.

But they were still able to contact the outside world, and the caller put one of them in touch with me.

"It's so cold, it [the cooler] keeps blowing," a young woman texted me from the lorry, which was carrying bananas. She said the lorry was sealed with an iron bar.

She also sent me two short videos showing the scene inside.

One video showed a dark compartment, and stacked up to the roof were cardboard boxes containing fruit, leaving only a few dozen centimetres of space for them to sit on the floor. There was a cough, and a young female voice said in fluent English: "I can't breathe."

The woman told me they got in the lorry at around 00:30 the night before. They had since spent more than 10 hours in there and started to feel uneasy when their location data on their phone showed that the lorry had changed direction.

Without much time to think, I contacted colleagues from BBC News and reporters living in France. At the same time, a reporter for the French newspaper Le Monde in London was also informed and he immediately alerted his colleague at the Paris editorial office that specialised in immigration.

Tracking the lorry

The woman was able to share her live GPS location with me, from which I saw the lorry was on the E15 highway, near Dracé, north of Lyon.

Then, I asked a colleague in France to help contact the closest police station to the lorry, and they were able to get in touch with them and send over the details we had.

The woman was unable to make calls from inside the lorry. It's not clear to me why not, but it may have been down to the type of Sim card she was using.

We gathered all the information we needed, and continuously sent vehicle location updates to Pham Cao Phong, a freelance journalist in Paris, as well as the BBC News team in Europe and French police.

All of a sudden, location sharing was interrupted - I had lost the lorry.

But, the young woman was still able to text me. She told me the air conditioner was turned off - and it was getting hard to breathe.

"We're so suffocated," she wrote.

Stuck in the narrow space I saw in the short video clip, I feared they wouldn't have much time to hold out.

I tried to reassure them, telling them to keep calm, to try not to talk to save air, and that the police would come very quickly.

I nervously looked at the computer screen and then my phone, waiting for news.

After talking for a while, I found out that before getting into the lorry, three of the woman's companions decided not to come with her. I'm not sure why they made that decision, but they did take a photo of the lorry's licence plate number.

The photo showed it had Irish licence plates, and on my phone I was able to see its location again.

French police in the Rhone region told us they had determined the vehicle's location and had intercepted it.

I texted her, but I don't think she read my messages - the police must have arrived and confiscated her phone.

The four Vietnamese people say they got in the lorry with the promise of being taken safely to England.

As for me, I felt relief knowing that they were now safe in France. They are safe, I told myself, that's the most important thing.

At about 17:00 local time (16:00 BST), French prosecutor Laetitia Francart in Villefranche-sur-Saône reported that the vehicle turned out to be from Lithuania and that the driver was under investigation.

Ms Francart added that four young women were Vietnamese, one of them a minor, and the other two women were from Iraq.

Why, after the tragedy of 39 deaths in Essex in 2019, are there still young women from Vietnam getting into the back of a lorry to cross the border? I can't find any definitive answer.

Hey look, an update from yours truly!

Everything is just the same old stuff, except for on Thursday I'm going to China... did I mention that yet? Yep, I'm going to China! I'll be going to Shanghai and Hangzhou with the students here at LRIS. I'm super excited! I can show off the Chinese I learned like four semesters ago that I can hardly remember anymore. I'll definitely try and take a whole bunch of photos! If I can get a good VPN then I'll try and post as well. The only thing I'm worried about is that I don't have a carry-on suitcase, only my big check-ins. My mom (I love you mom <3) sent me stuff inside a carry-on suitcase (like a suitcase inside a package) and it still hasn't arrived yet. The website said 3-6 days, the man told my mom 7 days, and it's been 8 business days now. (She sent it on the 6th and it's currently the 18th). What worries me more is that when we type in the tracking ID, nothing shows up. Not knowing really is scary. Is it lost? Is it taking it's sweet time? Did it get confiscated? Stolen? I just wanna know where my package is ;_;

I also got my passport back from the Chinese Visa place, so I can finally get a phone! The only thing now is finding a way to get to the phone place, and figuring out how to get a SIM card (and how to pay for said SIM card). Also when should I go out and get it: after China? Before China? I have no idea.

The temperature has dropped dramatically these past few days. It's now 6 degrees and it feels even colder. What sucks too is that my winter coat is in the package I'm waiting for. Waking up to go to school is really hard now too since it's cold and I want to stay in bed. I really hope I get my winter jacket.

On a different matter, I've really started to learn how to genuinely enjoy Christ and seek Him first in all matters. I really liked week 4 day 2 in the morning revival:

"The mind is the leading part of the soul and the representative of the soul. To take over a person's mind is to take over the entire person... Whenever the soul is not dependent on God but is independent of Him, the soul immediately becomes the self. This means that whenever we do something by ourselves without depending on God, we are in the self... Man is a soul, and as a soul he should depend on God for everything"

I have to confess that I'm in my head constantly, relying only on myself and making decisions without checking in with God first. Even if it's a right decision, without God it is wrong. I am in the self and independent of God. But these days, especially with one serious matter, I am just enjoying the Lord, continually being dependent on Him. Life is so much easier when you trust and rely on someone else to do something. My prayer is:

"Lord, I can't do anything, but You can do everything. I don't know what is happening, but everything is in Your hands. Everything is out of my control but You have everything in Your control. I don't know where to go but I know You will guide me. I just need to follow You."

I'm still not perfect. I still overthink and worry about things, and I hate when I don't know what will happen or when things are out of control. But I think the odds are in my favour when God is the one working everything out.
