You know this moment in the prisoner of Azkaban, when Snape catches Harry who had sneaked to Hogsmeade. While he's a ass and shouldn't have speak about James, he was right to yells at Harry for have left Hogwart's security.
1) Snape fully believes that Sirius is guilty. After all, if he had knew who was the traitor, you can be sure that he would have told Dumbledore. So he 100% thinks that Sirius has betrayed the Potter. And thinks that if Sirius has tried to kill him at 15, then betraying his best friend or triying to kill a child is something that he can do. After all, he's Bellatrix's cousin.
2) Snape knows that Sirius is smart and can be manipulative.
3) Snape knows that Harry didn't have all the informations (like Sirius was his godfather or has betrayed his parents). But that he knows that Black is after him.
4) Snape knows that Sirius knows Hogsmeade very well and that he knows all the secret passages of Hogwarts.
5) Sirius knows about Potter's invisibility cloak.
6) He's right when he says to Harry that "everyone tried to protect you but noo you can't listen when people are worried for your safety and you have to do everything you want!" I mean yes it's suck that Harry can't go to Hogsmeade but 1) it was likely until the madman who wants to kill him get arrested (even if WE knows that Sirius doesn't want to kill him, the minister, Dumbledore and the teachers don't know at this point) 2) he could have negociated with Dumbledore after that. EVERYONE thought it would be safer that he doesn't go at Hogsmeade this year.
For being fair Fred and George thought he just didn't have the authorization. If they had knew that Harry was Black's target, they would have maybe not giving him the map. They're troublemakers but they can also be protective if needed.
Harry says that Hogsmeade is safe but he has no proofs. Even when he knows that Black is near of Hogwart, he still wants to go, even with his invisibility coat.
And for being fair, if Harry had been found by MacGonagall or Dumbledore, they would have been dissapointed and would have lectured him. They could have confiscated both the map AND the cloak until the end of the year. Beause the map wouldn't have insulted MacGonagall or Dumbledore but would have probably reacted to their attempt to reveal it.
Snape likely knows about the map, even if he never had proofs. What he says to Remus shows he KNOWS.
So yeah Snape has been a ass but he was right to be angry. Like he says, the ministery has put a lot of mesures to protect Harry and Harry doesn't care and do whatever he wants just for have fun. I know he's a teenager but people told him "Black wants to kill you". And it was a temporary mesure. He could have go to Hogsmeade later.
And for Snape, who tries to keep Harry alive, it must be SO frustrating to see him ignore all the protections put to protect his life only for have few hours of fun.
Even Remus lectures him for that.
And for Harry who refuses to see potential danger, we have also the case of the firebolt. With Hermione who was right about it, because yes it was suspect to receive a suck beautiful gift with no expeditor name. Especially when someone wanted him dead. And when we sees how Sirius has managed to buy it, it was very easy. So even a criminal escaped from prison could use his money (funny because Ron pointed that it would be impossible for Sirius to buy it. and we discover that it wasn't).
Yes i know that Hermione's cat wouldn't have helped Sirius is Sirius was really a bad guy but still.
Harry refused to listen Hermione when she says "it's suspicious, it may be dangerous" and she even suggested to tell a teacher about it. And Harry refused to listen.
I mean, for someone who know that a guy want to kill him, he's very nonchalant. WE know that it was safe because WE know that Sirius is innocent, but nobody knew at this point (and the first time we read the book, we didn't know). But if Sirius had really been what people thought he was, had really be a murderer who wanted to kill Harry? And that Hermione didn't tell anything? Well, we can guess would have happened as soon Harry would have tried the firebolt, right?
Yeah Hermione was maybe wrong to tell McGonagall behind Harry's back but Harry was kinda irresponsable too. He acted like if he wasn't potentially in danger. Like if everything was normal.
I understand that he wanted to be a normal kid but he had someone that everyone thought to be a murderer after him. And It also must be annoying for people who try to protect him to see him ignore the protection to do whatever he wants without thinking to the potential consequences.

UNRELATED: at 344 hours of chinese listening and I finished HP5 audiobook. (and the audiobook did NOT need to be 31 fucking hours, it had so much filler, but being optimistic I guess it made me practice listening for 31 more hours >o>)
My options now are: force myself to listen to and finish HP6 and HP7, despite being sick of these fucking audiobooks, because that's around ~60 more hours of practice listening and I am a stubborn fucker. I am stubborn and spiteful and I KNOW I'll fucking understand HP6 and HP7, so they'll be 'comprehensible input' listening material. I know I'll understand so they'll definitely cause improvement, I know I'll understand even if I only pay partial attention because I understood all of HP5 with partial attention, I might learn 1000-2000 more new words from them which will make FUTURE listening easier, and I can say I honestly tested out 'using all of the HP audiobooks to improve my listening in a language' and can compare my experiences to others who have done it.
Like this Spanish learner, and these people in the comments, including ZoomSOM "At ~550 hours right now and halfway through the fourth audiobook. Â I understand 95-99% of the "story" but miss some of the details." A lot of people mention 600-1000 hours to understand HP1, but as we know HP4 is much harder than HP1 and HP5-7 are the hardest with the most unique words. I am guessing maybe 1000-1500 hours to understand HP7... but I can't find anyone listing specifically HP7. This person read all of HP by 1500 hours.
So it looks like HP5-7 seem understandable to many people learning Spanish by around 1000-1500 hours. For the early learners, 450-600 hours (but it was 450 hours for HP1). So for Chinese, (a doubled Dreaming Spanish roadmap) that would be 2000-3000 hours. And for early learners, 900-1200 hours in Chinese. I have 891 hours of Chinese listening total now (547 estimated hours of prior listening, 344 hours since starting my chinese listening experiment). So either I am REALLY good at listening to audiobooks... or I may have underestimated the hours of prior listening/hours of comprehensible input I got.
I wonder if my estimated hours of prior comprehensible input should be higher...
I also wonder if when I finish HP6 and HP7 audiobooks, I'll be as good at listening to Chinese as those people with 1500 hours of Spanish are with listening to Spanish. Not necessarily, as some people listened to HP1-7 in Spanish from hours 450-600ish, and still had to keep listening to Spanish until 1500 hours to see the progress they wanted.
I will probably... just fucking finish this audiobook series. I can't properly compare myself to other learners who listened to these, and their results, if I don't even finish doing it myself. So I suppose that's settled. -.- I'm going to 'speedrun' these fucking audiobooks, and somehow listen to them in a few days each. So I can get through them asap. Thankfully, I no longer need to re-listen to them to understand them. (A form of self torture I'm sure, making myself listen to HP1-4 two times. I sure felt like I was suffering by the time I got to HP4).
Afterward I'm gonna fucking reward myself and either listen to MoDu audiobook all the way through or ZhenHun all the way through. I'm already rewarding myself by listening to MoDu audio drama in the evening, a nice palette cleanser. (And yes, alternatively learner podcasts could be listened to but I just get SOOOOO bored of slice of life daily life podcasts, so fucking bored of learner materials so fast)
#rant#chinese listening experiment#so hears the deal. i bitch and bitch. because I hate HP. and some of the childish squeaking actors are driving me up a wall.#but in terms of using it as learning material? It is quite useful and I'm just bitching#It is 1. basically graded listening material (since each book adds ~1000 unique words). 2. a LOT of fucking practice with simple sentences#since the books are so long (it's going to be like 200 hours of my study so far) 3. The narrator guy reads incredibly CLEARLY and just#slightly slowly (which is easy for learners to get used to and to clearly hear new word pronunciations)#4. the actors ALSO all read incredibly clearly and act out the emotions STRONGLY which helps provide context#and differentiate who is talking#5. the scenes ALL have sound effects which also provide context (crowds have crowd background noise. rain has rain noises.#flying has wind noises)#Like... in honesty they are very well made Chinese audiobooks which are very accessible - in Hoopla app free - and very easy to understand#As a comparison - Twilight is as easy as HP3 audiobook BUT the characters all talk more like actual teenagers. So the voices in Twilight ar#all more slurred/muffled/less intense tones compared to the HP audiobooks#which is harder to listen to and parse if you haven't been practicing listening.#as a learning material the HP audiobooks are quite useful. as much as im bitching because im sick of them#i recognize the reason a lot of other learners find them useful

Debating whether or not to try a different site for ordering my rings off of right now. Problem is, new site prioritizes AWG over SWG and while a lot of measurements are listed as the same as on my normal site, the aspect ratios are listed as being very different, and I find that..... concerning..... How are you getting such a different number.... if you divide the same two numbers, how are you getting such a different answer.... When I do the math myself, the site I'm considering is wrong... So... I'm nervous to order from them
But
This place has so many different colors. I've made a few pride bracelets in the past but could never do the lesbian flag because my regular place doesn't have enough variety in the pinks and oranges...
For now, because I'm just ordering plain aluminum and not anodized to make gloves for kiddo, I'm gonna stick with my regular site. But if anyone wants a bracelet (or anklet or necklace or whatever) similar to these:

to make it worth my while to try the new place.... lemme know XD (also you can check my tag misha weaves jewelry for more examples of things I've made)
#misha rambles#if you're a friend i'd just gift it#if not the cost would be pretty cheap... like yeah getting a bunch of colors is a bit much up front but per unit is so little and things#like the hp3-in-1 weave pictured above are really easy so just shipping and depending on what that comes to maybe a few dollars on top#maybe. i'm not doing this for business but for fun and the materials are fairly cheap#breaking even is the most i really aspire to with it lmao so i can justify getting others to try new things

Lmao with conversational chinese I am like... at the point I can listen to TeaTime Chinese and Maomi Chinese for main idea and some details, relisten for more details. You know, paying partial attention instead of focusing super intensely. So a hundred hours (or at least 50 since I initially tried podcasts) to finally understand the main idea of beginner level podcasts. Humbling lol. Both of these podcasts are great in that they provide an english translation the first time a new word is introduced that they don't expect you to know. Like 电报 dianbao telegram is a word I learned today. So these 2 podcasts in particular "hold your hand" more than some others I've found.
(And audio-visual materials are still better for learnimg the brand new words/getting a visual memory of the words I partly know, but podcasts have a lot of conversational discussion listening which I need to practice... and which is not really in cartoons as much or informational lesson type videos).
And then I recognize the main topic of some harder podcasts for learners like Talk to Me in Chinese, but I need to relisten to even know what her opinion is. Still need to practice with learner podcasts more, to gradually understand the more difficult ones.
Meanwhile 100 hours of listening did Amazing for my listening comprehension of audiobooks. I am so excited about how fast this is improving. I'm excited for when I can 1. Start handling MoDu chapters without any relistens, and getting most of the details on first listen (not sure when that'll happen). 2. Start brand new audiobooks of things I've never read before. Saye!!!!!! SCI!!!!! Those are the goalssss.
I love that with audiobooks about every 10-15 hours you get to see some (small or medium) noticeable improvement. With podcasts it feels like I'm equally comprehending stuff until at least 50 hours passes, then I notice some increase in comprehension, then wait another 50 hours.
#rant#chinese listening experiment#hp3 audiobook has gotten Even clearer even more details on 2nd listen through#me listening to priest audiobooks is kind of wild#i was reading modu translation in english the other day and even in English my native language#sometimes i dont fully absorb a descriptive sentence on the first read! priest is kind of like reading stephen king for me#so listening to it in chinese is... an experience#and it definitely probably skews the kind of sentences i expect to hear#at least HP has pretty straightforward sentences in chinese#so im getting more than 1 kind of writing style when i listen#i still need to practice listening to books with a lot of chengyu eventually. and historical fiction 4 hanzi phrase chunks#because those i can barely read ...

I've mentioned it before, but HP5 really has been a LOT easier than HP4.
When I started HP4 I had to repeat that first hour 4 times to finally get it was in a mansion, in a different town, with wormtail and the snake and stuff. I could not parse full sentences until maybe 1/3 through the audiobook, repeating each hour of audio twice, when I heard the twins were gambling at the world cup, and then later when I heard harry lost his wand in the world cup attack chaos. And it was still many sentences of some unknown words, with some paragraphs mostly unknown words. All the way up until maybe 4 hours from being done. Then I was finally identifying easily each scene I was listening to, and getting irritated at the ending still not being Reached lol.
With HP5 I started it able to identify the scenes I was listening to immediately. I stopped repeating audio twice once I got 4 hours in, because the benefit was not worth the "bore" of having to listen twice. I was already understanding all characters, locations, key items, and many descriptions and verbs in all scenes. I am now almost fucking done... 6 hours left agh. And if I'm paying full attention, I understand a majority of each sentence. Its kind of like listening to Narnia in terms of ease. Except unlike Narnia, missing a word does not prevent me from following the plot. So I've been listening with partial attention (as I do with English), and following the plot fine. They finally took their owl exams. This book is so much longer than it needs to be.
Of course. How listening ease "feels" swings wildly every several hours. Regardless, I can say for certain that HP5 has ben an easier audiobook to follow than HP4 was, which I think indicates I've made significant improvement since before listening to HP4. I expect HP6 and 7 to be around this easy, or feel easier to follow, as the reading level difficulty doesnt appear to get "harder" than HP5. When I looked it up, I think HP6 had less unique words than HP5 and HP7 had around as many unique words as HP5. So while there will probably be NEW words in each book, it won't be more than the amount of new words I've been able to handle in HP5.
#rant#chinese listening experiment#just observations for future me#the reading/listening level of hp1 to hp3 to hp4 are the biggest steps
