Why does Ren have 4 ears? Are they all real or is one set fake?

Hehe I’ve gotten this question a lot actually! They’re all real— I like to think hybridization isn’t always a clean balance of traits, so Ren just unfortunately ended up with two sets of ears— his Dog ears being much more receptive to sound, naturally— and sometimes when the extra intake of sound is too overwhelming, I imagine he wears earplugs in his human ears to help adjust :> it’s a bit weird, but idk! i like to make designs funky and nonconventional! I liked the idea that Ren had hearing struggles due to wonky hybridization and just kept the concept :>

I think animal cruelty deserves to be bad in its own right because animals are sentient beings, but if you need an anthropocentric reason to care, people who enjoy torturing animals also tend to enjoy torturing children- because ultimately the abuse is about withholding power over someone vulnerable.

Here's the ref for my Spongebob s/i! I'm sadly not very good at mimicking artstyles, but I hope this looks decent enough anyways.

Sadie is a new-er resident to Bikini Bottom. She met Spongebob a couple of weeks after getting hired at Goofy Goober's. They impressed him by whipping up a large ice cream sundae, made with flavors Spongebob never even knew he'd enjoy together. The pair became fast friends and hang out often. I need to come up with a design for her house, and maybe make a chart for how she gets along with the rest of the show's cast. I hope you guys like what I have so far!

A little while back you posted something about an art teacher breathing a sigh of relief because of the different art style you were using - possibly compared to the rest of the art class at the time. Something about a style of illustration?

I wasn't sure what that meant in an art way.

Ah yes, this post!

The animal drawing class I was in was all illustration majors; as a result, their impulse was to try and draw each subject with as much detail and as beautifully rendered as possible. They'd spend the class trying to draw one or two really pretty drawings of a horse.

I, as the lone animation major, was more focused on gestural drawings--drawings that were very loose, that focused on line of action, the general shapes that make up the anatomy of the animal, etc. By the end of class I'd gone through several pages getting as many drawings as I could done.

Like the comic says in the post where I brought it up, there's nothing wrong with either style--they're just two different artistic strengths! My teacher was just happy to see someone doing something different from the rest of the class.
