I was kinda going for that! I forgot to add in the backstory part like how I did for the wither sona for artfight last year, but I usually add a snippet specifically for artfight sonas.

The 'backstory' for this one was that the sona isn't actaully a werewolf but uses technology to help the fight. And the music/headphone bit was because I used to main Lucio back when I played OW and I've just really liked 'musicians in combat' things ever since

So I saw the drawings of you and your friends as your tiny tails borrowers where you describe them as being a certain animal "breed", is this dependent on where a borrower is from or how a pip is constructed or something else?

Oh it's dependant on a lot of things!

This is probably pretty obvious but since a Pip is constructed by hand and not biology, it doesn't HAVE to look like it's parent. However, most parents (much like how we creators go about making fankids or how we humans envision our children looking in the future) will create their Pips in their image on reflex.

Bookie borrowers fascinated by Borrower tradition and history will most likely tell you that- while no one is sure where Borrowers come from originally- their expansive breeds and features most likely came from parents crafting their Pips with features to better survive conditions for wherever their current burrow is. Sort of as a hyperfast method of evolution.

Example:

A Mouse borrower leaves their burrow for the first time, and upon moving into a burrow in a library, decides it wants to have a Pip. The library is quiet- you must listen carefully to hear beans and their movements- in order to aid its Pip in this endeavor and ensure its future safety, the parent will craft a Pip that shares many similarities with itself such as skintone, facial shape, and haircolor- but it gives it LARGE floppy ears and a soft tail to help it get around quieter. A mouse borrower decides it wants to have a pip- it being a mouse borrower has not hindered it in anyway in its current home, but THIS borrower decides they want a Pip that looks nothing like them, changing its skin, and hair, and facial shape, even the height outcome of its growth. They are both mice, yet they look nothing like parent and pip.

Bonus:

As mentioned in my first info graphic about borrower Pips, The sentiment (or love) for the item stolen and how well crafted the body of the Pip is can ALSO have an effect on the Pip- including deformity if they aren't careful. Many Bookies theorize the blindness of Mole borrowers was the result of a deformity formed from a poorly crafted Pip, that spread and populated somehow despite the blindness.

Any thoughts on DOOM: The Dark Ages?

It's very funny to me how much of the latest presentation is about them getting out in front of it and being like "no no no it's nothing like Doom Eternal trust us folks we learned from our mistakes."

Like, there was a lot wrong with Doom Eternal. Like, for instance, the fact it used every single button on the controller, often in multiple different ways depending on the context. And a lot of it felt superficial.

Spoilers, you obviously start out with a chainsaw. Hitting enemies with a chainsaw makes them bleed ammo, for whatever reason. But all throughout the game, you're building up to be able to unlock this awesome amazing hell sword made out of a special demon-killing material.

When you unlock the sword:

It functions exactly like the chainsaw does (limited use super weapon that causes enemies to dump out huge ammo refills)

Has its own, separate ammo (the chainsaw takes gasoline, the sword takes energy)

It's on a different, separate, dedicated button (literally the last button not already in use)

And to me that sums up everything wrong with Doom Eternal: it wants to be the next evolution in hyperfast first person combat. It's trying to inject a little bit of Character Action juice into it, like a Devil May Cry or Bayonetta or something. So it's trying to have all this mechanical complexity and strategy, to where it's using every single button on the controller for something... and one of the big penultimate weapons you get is just something you already have but it takes different ammo, and the game starts switching between the two like "I hope you remember which button to push to refill your ammo, because it's about to change every 5 minutes for no reason!"

It has big ideas and nothing about it is in any way elegant. Never ever. Its ideas aren't bad, but they aren't executed in a way that always makes sense.

So then we get to Doom: The Dark Ages.

And it's a lot of espousing how simple everything is now. How all these actions have been condensed down into minimal buttons, you have robust difficulty sliders, and it's soooooo... "sorry, sorry, we're trying to delete it."

Things that have me worried:

As a Sonic fan, being "a return to form" or "going back to our roots" is a worrying phrase and it got used as a weapon to justify a lot of bad Sonic games. It's used to describe The Dark Ages, after Doom Eternal was also supposed to be "going back to their roots" (it reverted to a lot of the classic monster designs and powers). Developers trying to approximate what people liked about the old games while still trying to express new ideas... I've been down this road before.

At one point they mention taking the story "out of the codex and putting it into the game." That's what Doom Eternal did and it was awful there, too. Doom 2016 was refreshing because it acknowledged you weren't there to hear all this lore and be a pawn for the main villain. You were there to get things done. The Doom Slayer was a man of action. Eternal gets bogged down in how you're a Holy Warrior for God and all of Satan's minions have names and ranks and dialog. Doom Slayer has memories of fallen comrades and all this stuff that just doesn't matter. Telling me there's more story isn't exciting me, and neither does "an origin story for the Doom Slayer" or any of this "slayer's legend" stuff.

The setting looks cool and I'm willing to see how the shield and the new melee combo system feels but they haven't sold me yet.

This is random but I wanna imagine regular rito Revali is an absolute lightweight because birds have hyperfast metabolism so he's like two drinks in and smashed and even louder than usual but also kinda needy and clingy and demanding of reassurances from Link like hey you still love me right?? Hold my braids back while I puke and tell me I'm still pretty?? You don't hate me do you?? Meanwhile Link can down forty drinks in a row and is just totally fine. Hardly even phased. The man is infallible.

But then mod!au I just imagine the total opposite where Revali can almost out drink Urbosa and it takes a lot for him to get tipsy meanwhile Link has one drink and is a giggly mess on the floor and Revali has to carry him home while complaining the entire time that he's a fucking idiot (affectionate). He's so sick of this dumb lightweight making him leave parties early because he can't handle his alcohol (he's not, Link is so cute and tucking the giggling moron into bed while he showers him with drunk compliments is the highlight of his night.)

Watched the Consumerist Dystopia of Harry Potter video

It’s a real eye opener about how shopping and product placement was the driving force behind the franchise, right from the moment the first book was published. In the video, Gandalf never buys a Staff, he earns it, same with Luke Skywalker, who earned his lightsaber. When companies was trying to promote The Hunger Games: Catching Fire film, they were criticised for being tone deaf (Make-up blogs on “Achieving the District look” and Subway’s foot-long spicy subs) as The Hunger Games is about society as a whole: you have the Elite (The Capitol) and then there’s the poor (The Districts). In fact, the closest thing we have to Panem in real life is North Korea, with elements of the Soviet Union and East Germany mixed in. The Capitol residents are dressed in futuristic style while the furthest era the Districts wear is the 1960′s, which in the films, is worn by District 8; Katniss and Prim in the books, wear dresses that are straight out of the Great Depression. The video also noted that “We have enough Harry Potter merchandise”. In fact, since I was five years old Harry Potter was everywhere. If my series ever take off, I will make sure the merchandise is restricted to things like keyrings and stationary. Since I became aware of environmental destruction in 2020, I vowed that if my series take off, it will have very little merchandise; in fact, I will actively encourage that people make their own plush, costumes etc instead, a theme prevalent in the stories. In “Hyperfast Fashion”, for example, Xanthe makes her iconic gold-and-silver dress instead of buying a dress from a Fast Fashion brand, while in “The Red Lady of Silverton” Flora’s Halloween costume is handmade; Matisha, Janey, Amber and Harold’s costumes are made using everyday clothing.

Was thinking about a Marvel verse where Rhys is a mutant (I mostly read X-Men comics, lol). Jack is a famous CEO who's secretly a mutant telepath, basically '80s Emma Frost. Rhys is a programmer at Jack's company who is also secretly a mutant.

When his X-gene activated at puberty, Rhys's thoughts suddenly began to move hyperfast. It was debilitating at first, leaving Rhys unable to process anything but the overwhelming amount of thoughts going on in his brain, basically going catatonic for a few weeks until he started to adjust. His parents wrote off his absence at school as a mundane sickness and basically refused to acknowledge the possibility that their son could have developed powers. Rhys got the message right away: no one was to know he was a mutant.

As he grew up, his secret power was more of a disadvantage than an advantage. He was quick-thinking, yes, and it helped him exceed in school (which got him teased for being a nerd, something that did a huge hit to Rhys's self-esteem), but combined with his undiagnosed anxiety he mostly found his power frustrating and overwhelming. It othered him from everyone else, made him act even weirder and get bullied for it even more. His power felt entirely out of his control. The only other person who knew was Vaughn.

Rhys wanted nothing more than to prove himself, though, and he we determined to succeed despite his secret mutant curse and out of college landed a job at Hyperion. The CEO was, of course, eccentric billionaire Handsome Jack, who Rhys looked up to like no other. It turned out Hyperion had a secret program where employees tested out experimental technology. Rhys signed up for it, getting his robot arm and ECHO-eye.

In the course of this project Rhys crosses paths with Jack (who is obviously running this program to do secret supervillain shit). Jack tries to read Rhys's mind and gets overloaded so quickly he has to pull out. With a few more experimental pushes into Rhys's brain he realizes Rhys is a mutant like himself, and that Jack could use him if he could figure out how to harness his power. Sure, it wasn't as flashy as blasting lasers from your eyes, but the ability to out-think anyone could be incredibly powerful if Rhys could be taught how to use it.

Jack takes Rhys alone into his office and reveals that he, too, is a mutant, and that he can help Rhys. If he lets Jack read his mind and guide him, Jack could teach Rhys how to make his mutant power an asset like no one else had. Jack didn't keep it a secret that he was a mutant because he was ashamed. It was because it made it so easy to succeed over normal humans that it simply wasn't fair, and Jack liked it and that way. Being a mutant made them better than other people, not worse. And all Rhys had to do to find out how was do exactly as Jack told him.

Eventually Rhys finds out about the supervillain shit and this all falls apart, but, you know. Of course Rhys takes the deal.

I mean when you look at the evolution of so called "Indo-European Language families," it also might make sense to consider the notion of "Indo-European religion families," with Hinduism being the primary oldest tree in that forest, with Buddhism branching off specifically from Hinduism in a loosely similar way to how, perhaps, Christianity and Islam branched off from Judaism(?).
