Thought I'd mark the end of the mad knitting rush by sharing what I'd made. There's a couple of summer tank tops I'll want to make, but I won't have the same drive to knitknitknit in quite the same way.

anyone else deeply uncomfortable about how most (generally straight) people treat having a girlfriend as something you can 'get'. like a girl is a thing you can own like you can 'get a girl'

#americans and people who stay in good communities generally this is not about y'all #im speaking as an indian #i just hate how doing good things for your partner is seen as a chore!!!#like in movies the guy gets a lacklustre proposal/gift whatever and the girl says that if that's how he's gonna treat her she ain't staying #which??? feels like a bank transaction????#and then the guy puts in a regular amount of effort like arranging a nice date and the girl is #so grateful and the whole thing implies that guy is going above and beyond and is an exceptionally good boyfriend and the girl is charmed #and its like it implies the girl will do all the things like taking care of him and her and them and everything else in exchange for these #small moments and gestures. its! a huge compromise!#and i hate how it subtly teaches girls to have low standards and how they should act around a boyfriend and like.#like the smart prep girl from high school musical! and her bf the afro best friend #so much of media is like that. why.
