Truth be told, TFA is like the only show other than BW in which Megop is not my top Optimus ship. Instead I ship Optimus/Sentinel. So much drama! Heartbreak! Possible future reconciliation?

Also I totally see Sentinel as a bratty bottom and love the fact that fandom has written two fics in which Optimus fucks Sentinel's head while it wasn't attached. Good stuff.

I think as far as tfa ships, the one I ship the most is MegaStrikNut? Megatron, Strika, and Lugnut?

The general, her consort, and their Lord, and all three of them care deeply about each other even if Megatron denies this.

Though, I do ship tfa Megop a lot (maybe not the breed of tfa Megop that's popular, though? I'm rather specific when it comes to the ship, but I feel like it can go in cool directions)

Mmmnm but tfa MegaShock, because like c'mon look at tfa Shocky. He's a massive simp, and I admire that in a mech.

OpiSent (is there a ship name for those two? OpiSent is my best bet, but SentiOp is also as you suggested a truly interesting option. You can also say it's prime²) like, all the fire and snark in their relationship and the betrayal and the emotion and just. Fun. So much interesting situations.

as a megatron enjoyer it is very difficult to find fics where he isn’t immediately clumped into the Big Masc role in a ship and it’s really frustrating! once i tried to look through the megashock tag bc i thought it would be a fun ship to read and it was all tfa where shockwave was put into this weaker feminine role and it was frustrating! i enjoy megastar, megasound, and a number of other ships and it’s so frequently just the same thing over and over again— Big Masc and Little Femme esc roles that don’t make sense for the characters.

i don’t think characterizations need to be perfect— especially in a fandom like transformers where there’s so many variations to the characters, but i find it ridiculous just how often it’s just the Big Masc and Little Femme roles being reused in various contexts. it especially makes it difficult to find fics that aren’t that

This is about this post where I talked about why I think there's an odd and surprising gap between the amount of MegaStar and MegaSound content in the TF fandom, and I speculated that it's because fans want a ship where it's easy for them to force the characters into very conventional boxes that don't actually fit them.

My partner really likes Megatron and MegaSound and has probably read every single MegaSound fic and he feels your pain, there is some good, in-character content that doesn't put them in roles like this but it still barely exists!

I do get TFA MegaShock, though I don't seek it out, and I would bet nearly every single fic with them is not only about Shockwave being small and femme like you say, which is bizarre for his character in that show, but also that it's always about Shockwave pining and wasting away for big masc Megatron who never looks his way lol

And I'm with you on characterization being flexible because of how TF is, that's something I really like about it. There's canon content for different series that can suit almost any fan's tastes! But I wish people took their characterization from somewhere or would occasionally stop to think about why they're portraying things the way that they are. This is something I've been increasingly annoyed by lately.

I'm going to put this next thing under a cut because it talks about... um... interfacing in TF fic:

Can I just say it bothers me as well that I've noticed a large number of fics and artworks that use the tag "bottom Megatron" and make it look like they're going to buck this trend but then they 1) do the exact same thing again but they switch which character is in which role, which is just as OOC and revealing or they 2) change absolutely nothing except Megatron's bottoming, as if what the character literally does while interfacing solves the issue. Sometimes I wonder if this is such a trend because people want to feel like they're doing something but really they're not!

The different ships I like and why! (Part 1)

1) Megatron/Shockwave (Megashock)

One of my first ships, and honestly, one of my favorites for a long time. I don't quite remember why I fell in love with this ship.

Seems to me it's thanks to Cyberverse because there was a scene between Megatron and Shockwave, where Megatron was hurt and Shockwave was very worried about him.

But in my memories I was already a little in the Megashock. I think ? (Besides Cyberverse also made me the Wheeljack/Shockwave ship)

Anyway ! Whatever the reason! I must say that all the media I watched did not help me calm my ardor for this ship!

Animated: Where Shockwave is very loyal to Megatron, and Megatron heavily favors Shockwave (Too bad for you Lugnut).

In Prime: It's more subtle, but Megatron is very happy to see Shockwave again. Yes, surely because he is a genius scientist. But also leave me the pleasure of thinking that it is for another reason. Not to mention the jealousy of Starscream, who clearly sees Shockwave as a rival (But in what sense?)

G1: Oh! The G1! Sorry, but Shockwave is clearly in love with Megatron! Shockwave calls Megatron every day, and waits for him for 4 million years! Poor Shocky! But he never give up hope of seeing Megatron again!

And you've seen how consistently Shockwave worries about Megatron? Since he managed to regain contact with him, Shockwave calls him often to find out if he's okay. Poor Shockwave, who loves an ungrateful mech who doesn't even realize his love.

Finally here, I find this ship very cute, and if it is well written it can be really adorable. I mean, Shockwave who discovers love and is completely confused with that, and Megatron who ends up wondering if Shockwave has always been this cute. Aaah! I love this ship!

Sexuality Headcanon: he is a old gay man you see. no further clarification Gender Headcanon: hes a bit weird with i think. comes with being able to shape shift like that. i dont know the specifics hes like yes hes a man but also hes weird with it ok. trust me on this A ship I have with said character: uhmmmm megashock i guess. they are gay with it in nature. A BROTP I have with said character: i dont know </3 as much as tfa shockwave is good he really makes a point to not get attached to anyone. the only attachment he really had was to megatron and again they were a bit gay with it. A NOTP I have with said character: shockblurr for multiple reasons girl you people are insane A random headcanon: shockwave may speak monotone a lot and have a reserved sense of humor, but when something really gets to him he has the wildest cackle ever. cartoonishly evil. its hilarious. General Opinion over said character: he could be so something to me. but he isnt as it stands

Reasons I like MegaShock

I mean have you seen TFA Megan? Man gives (1) kiss to (1) subordinate for (1) job well done, all the fucking Decepticons are ready to throw down each other so they can get a smooch from the dear leader

Shockwave may be very intelligent but that does not mean he is immune to simping

On Megan's side of things Shockwave is always the one subordinate who gets the job done and gets it done proper, how can you not reward that with (1) smooch for (1) Shockwave?

On a more serious note the two of them have been through a lot and have a lot to thank each other for, even if a lot of that is warcrime related

Very versatile ship with potential for many different kinds of fic

You can turn it dark if you wanted to like what if Megan was using all his sweetalk to manipulate Shockwave and didn't actually care about him? Absolute shocker

Reasons I like ShockBee

Giant cryptid man and his little himbim catboy husband

If you understand the thirst behind Lady Dimitriscu then congratulations you understand ShockBee from Bee's perspective

Shockwave: holds Bee gently like hamburger

They had a super great dynamic in TFA and its a shame we live in the timeline where people got horny for ShockBlurr instead

Like imagine you're a struggling little ADHD goblin who nobody likes, then you find someone who believes in you and helps you get the bad guy. You think he's your bested friend and the only guy who's ever appreciated you except they turn out to be a spy, gutwrenching, I love it

Now imagine you're a shapeshifting deer man who's really smart and intelligent and cultured, but this little goblin fucko almost found you out. So you gotta save face and help him frame someone else but he's so dumb and you hate him and he's got 0 braincells and why can't you get rid of him? Oh fuck turns out you're really into dumb little goblins.

Always and forever, KOBD. Knock Out is what dragged me into this fandom in the first place, and for that, him and Breakdown hold a special place in my heart. Other than that, TFA StarOp has me in an absolute chokehold, so there's that (not to mention TFA Megashock)

For the ask meme: TFP Megatron!

How I feel about this character: while watching TFP i thought he was an excellent villain who always added tons of tension to any scene. i also like the subtext between him and Optimus and his whole backstory, although i haven’t read the novels yet so i don’t have all the details.

it’s like, he’s scary and horrible but i feel kind of sorry for him too in a way. he had such noble intentions but he just had to be Like That. despite all that he’s not my favorite Megatron--i liked him on about the same level that i liked every other bot. then i watched TFA and got a crush on that Megatron, which made me retroactively like this one more.

All the people I ship romantically with this character: Orion Pax/Optimus Prime and Shockwave, mainly. MegOP is classic and so angsty in this continuity, and MegaShock was handed down to me in a dream so i can’t not ship it. i’m also down for MegaStar if it’s written right, or Megatron/other Autobots. any relationship with him is automatically interesting on account of who he is.

My non-romantic OTP for this character: Megatron & Soundwave. they have a lot of shared history and seem like bros.

My unpopular opinion about this character: i don’t find his face appealing whatsoever. what is that shit all over him?? he needs to take a bath skskdfj. and his chin is weird. i still have a crush but he LOOKS WEIRD. is this unpopular though?

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon: i wish he’d appeared in RID2015, keeping his character development from Predacons Rising, as poorly executed as i think it was. i read a post somewhere on here about Megatron being part of the main cast of RID2015 and having to actually deal with stuff instead of fucking off to Whereverville and i like that idea a lot.

What are your top 5 Transformers pairings?

Ok so the way I ship things is a lot different to most people, mainly in that it’s less of  person X person and more person x concept that can consist of many persons. So I hope you appreciate me scraping the bottom of my braincell barrel to come up with this serious response.

1. ShockBee | multiple continuities but mainly TFA

I’ve made several hundred thousand posts on why I like it as well as that one fanficition which I’ll never be able to top ever and I know I promised a director’s cut where you can actually read it I am working on i- . Long story short its big evil science man realises his type is short idiots (full of trauma) and together they find out that trauma is the same, fuck capitalism.

2. MegaShock | all continuities (except TFP because Megan has a drug problem and Shockwave just wants to make dragons, 0 chemistry there lads)

Sometimes it’s Shockwave being a simp and requesting nudes from Megan, sometimes its Megan pointing to Shockwave and saying “you’re the only bitch I respect in this house and if anything happens to you I swear to Jesus Christ that I will challenge god and destroy reality”. You might have seen a bit of this pairing spring up in the one fanfic. Sometimes I throw Soundwave into the mix as well, fuck it, all the command team can get some, as a treat.

3. Starscream X the concept of love | Mainly TFP, never TFA

Seriously TFP Starscream is an absolute fucking mess, he’s a pathetic baby, he’s also a war criminal, let him get some once in a while. This is one of those person x concept pairings where it’s just like “ok now it’s Soundwave’s turn to give him a hug... ok get out of here weather boy it’s Knockout’s turn”.

4. Bumblebee x Anyone at least twice his size | TFA Bumblebee in all continuities

You know that meme where the guy who made Skyrim points at a mountain and says “see that mountain? You can climb it”, but replace it with Bumblebee and he's pointing to giant Decepticon number 34 and says “see that war criminal? I can smooch him” BlitzBee shippers please let me back into the club I promise to be on my best behaviour this time I swear

5. Anyone x Insecticons | Mainly TFP/RID

Sometimes you just need an army of himbos who’ll simp at a moment’s notice. Bonus points if they have personalities (except if it’s British, sorry Saberhorn, you were born into sin and in sin you will fester)
