Even the 4 year old comments of the Stolas call video you liked mention how Stolas was watching and knew Blitzo was in danger. One even brings up the possibility of Stolas altering a bullet's trajectory to save Blitzo.

yo. anyone notice Stolas' hand glows red right at the end before he says "enticing" and there's red around that bullet hole in the tree? My dude just saved Blitz so he didn't shave his nuts for nothing. [@ username of someone who said it was just the lighting] yea but remember stolas can see blitzo through his bubbles so he could also be seeing where shes shooting and helping to deflect the bullets!😊

To which many agreed, even up to a year ago! It has over 600 likes and 1 only sceptic reply.

Woah that's a very good observation right there you could go further , by extension (no pun intended), that all the shots fired were deflected or centered towards blitzo to put him in a situation where, when Stalos was asking him for his "favor", Blitzo eventually decided to say "fuck it, I'll do it" realize that, if Stolas does have the ability to protect him in any way (as it is assumed) , he could have deflected all the shots that were fired... Holy shit!

The fact that this is even a possibility — especially since that hand glow was never given an in-universe reason — is insane since it's the very same scene people so vehemently claim is 100% consensual for all parties.

And then there are other comments that feel like relics of a saner time. Besides the ones that say Pinkham fits Stolas better because he makes him sound gayer and "cute uwu" which is... A take with no off implications whatsoever and should not have been the foreshadowing it is. But at least people can tell Stolas is sketchy! I'm assuming these were written pre-LooLoo Land but if it wasn't I am so proud of these people for not forgetting his horrid behaviour just because 'sad dad moment'.

Is this why Blitzø installed a silent alarm made for Stolas? The minute I heard Blitzo say "Stolas!" I was like "Uh oh XD" Everyone in this show swears as casually as drawing breath so what in the world does Stolas say that it needs to be bleeped? 0:18 That wasn’t just a poorly timed call... Stolas was Scrying on Blitzo to offer that deal when he wasn’t in a position to talk back. 0:48 The ONLY reason the arraignment can be called “favors for favors” is simply because of how massively it works to both parties advantage. -Stolas, prince of hell, king of manipulation XD Blitz agreed to that arrangement Why is no one talking about this? -Sounds less like an enthusiastic "Yes" and more like "sure, fine, whatever, just shut up and let me be" -[@ above reply] Okay fair I'm just wondering if that's going to hit him later and then he's gonna freak out -[@ above reply] oh definitely I feel bad for Blitzo and Stella, he just wants to keep the book and his company's going, I understand that what hes doing with Stolas is Just "business", but stolas is just too pushy. Plus if hes going to cheat on his wife he can at least get a divorce. Honestly I think stella should hire blitzo to kill her husband, that way the both of them dont have to deal with him, plus blitzo can just keep the book without having to satify Stoles perverted bird needs, and stella can just find a better husband.

I like to think Stolas actually has all the spells in the grimoire memorized and is just using the situation to get dates with Blitzo - If Stolas doesn’t need the book then it would explain why he isn’t so worried about it - That would explain a plot hole Stoles is stil doing his Job and not post posing it to one night a month wich is even shorter than that if Blizo keep his end of the bargen even for a demon that must be impossible. - That is more or less the reason for Stolas. He just wants Blitzo to give him that "Passionate Fornication" at least once a month. - From what we've in the season two opening, that's extremely possible. It shows how much he loves books, so he probably does know all the spells - Or that was some kind of punishment for stealing 😂😂😂

Even as soon as a year ago people were giving Stolas more consistency than the show. Why wouldn't a book-loving nerd memorise his spells? Why would Stolas only ask for sex with someone he supposedly cares about beyond sex? Why was Blitzo's stealing completely ignored narratively except for one snippy line that it is completely possible to read as unrelated to that moment? That comment chain especially reeks of people desperate for a well told show that makes sense, that has consistency.

It's always a double-edged swords going through comments from saner times like these. On one hand, you come away with proof that things really were saner back then and it's not just a case of everything looking better in the rear view mirror...on the other, it's proof of how far things have declined. Mention that Blitz's consent was obviously coerced nowadays and they'll call you homophobic.

Its always confused me how people refuse to see early events as un-canon especially when they impact the story or when they cherry pick like people will see c!dream in c!tommys walls as canon but won't see how c!tommy acted in that time as canon like a lot of people forgot c!tommy built sewers through c!georges and c!dreams home which further turned the greater smp against l'manberg.

It's just so frustrating to see, like I can't even really give a good look at some people's analysis, argument, or opinion because I'm still stuck on the lore inaccuracy. I don't understand, how can we be going around talking about disc duo, writing hundreds of words of fanfiction and analysis on them and not even recount something like the actual disc saga properly...

Over and over, like you said, things like Dream in Tommy's walls is brought up [clip], and yet no one ever talks about the context of that. Like it literally takes place during a scuffle shortly after they tried to blow him up in the nether. And I don't know about you, but people plotting to kill me seems like a fairly reasonable time to spy on them...

And yea, the sewer is another good example, in fact that happens before L'manberg, they just don't realize until that stream where they are preparing for the war [clip] [clip]. Here is my (probably very bad) Universal Monsters chatfic!! (There’s a bunch of context for my au under the cut, so if you wanna skip it you’ll have to scroll a bit :/ )

Here’s a crapton of context for my AU:

All the characters have access to modern technology for completely unknown reasons (probably due to time travel caused by one of the scientists or something?) (and it makes for funny scenarios). Dracula and Renfield have a healthy (if a bit crazy) romantic relationship (inspired by Gomez and Morticia Addams) because I can’t bring myself to write abuse/conflict. Franky (Frankenstein’s monster) and Bea (bride of Frankenstein) are very cute kind couple (and they are ace) they also both have the intelligence of 18-20 year olds (for the sake of the plot). Jekyll and Hyde are here even though I’m pretty sure universal never made a movie with them. Both Larry Talbot and Jack Griffin’s families think they are dead. Kharis (the mummy) and Gil (creature from the black lagoon) also have average intelligence (because plot) and Kharis speaks English and whatever ancient Egyptian language he spoke when he was alive. Gil speaks English, and gets sick when in saltwater because he is (as far as I know) lagoons are (mostly) freshwater. They are all roommates living and “living” in the same house, the mansion from Abbot and Costello Meet Frankenstein. Griffin is a menace, frequently pranks everyone, and brags about crashing a train. I’m 95.9% sure none of these characters are actually “in character”, this is as “ooc” as you could get lmao

What is the main lesson of your story?

…which one? XD

Okay. I’ll go into my three current projects + a bit of general insights.

Most of my stories center around the ideas of found family, and finding love in unexpected places. There’s also (nearly always) a theme of self-acceptance, and that what you think are your biggest flaws can actually be something really awesome.

In my original novel, the protagonist goes through a character arc where he gets to turn one of his disabilities into the advantage that saves the day. It might sound corny, but as someone with that actual disability, I think it’s Hella neat. Hard-of-Hearing people, represent.

For Stories Told and Forgotten (DA Veilguard, Emmrook fix-it fic), I think the overarching theme is something along the lines of “the only way is through” coupled with “despair doesn’t last forever”.

For The World’s Fair Hotel (Lokius horror set in 1893), which is something of a classic horror story, it’s about… the Venn diagram where “You’re strong enough on your own” meets “your friends/found family = your biggest strength”.

What did you use as inspiration for your world building?

Original novel - everything from classic Brit Crime murder mysteries to epitaphs. With vampires. And a light whiff of steampunk.

Stories - primarily the Dragon Age games. I love the lore, and was saddened when so much of it seems to have gotten lost in the chaos that was developing DA4. I haven’t had a chance to read the books or watch the series etc, but I’ve loved the world since DA Origins. I’m even using one of the codex entries as inspiration for the Emmrook romance - a tragic love story between a mortal and a spirit.

World’s Fair Hotel - various documentaries on H H Holmes I’ve caught over the years, but also the vibe of The Devil In Me. And, as always with my Loki fanfics, Norse mythology and folklore. Any fellow Scandinavians out there? Hi!

What is your MC trying to achieve, and what are you, the writer, trying to achieve with them? Do you want to inspire others, teach forgiveness, or help them grow as a person?

I just want to write stories that are good fun. Whether that’s full on Fantasy romances or corporate conspiracy Thrillers, or serial killer Horror with romantic subplots. The reader will take away what they will from the text, and I’m fine with that.

Original novel - solving the suspicious death of the protag’s mentor/father figure. Stopping the killer from getting away with murder.

Stories - save the world. It doesn’t get much bigger than that.

World’s Fair Hotel - both Loki and Mobius are Very Concerned with 1) finding each other before it’s too late, and 2) getting out of the Murder Castle.

How many chapters is your story going to have?

Original novel is 28 chapters in total, clocking in at 84k words.

Stories - WiP. As many as it needs, as I’m pretty much fixing the plot of the whole game. Yes, I am a bit bonkers.

World’s Fair Hotel - No more than ten chapters. We’re entering the home stretch in chapter 7, which should be ready for uploading within the week. :3

Is it fanfiction or original content? Where do you plan to post it?

Original novel - I’m going to give it a final revision/edit after some excellent feedback I got from an editor, and then it’s back into the query trenches for me. Going to try finding an agent, or an indie publisher willing to take it (and me) on.

Stories and WFH are obviously fanfic. All my fanfic can be found on AO3. My username is “andthekitchensink” - because I tend to throw absolutely everything into my fics, and I genre hop like you wouldn’t believe.

When did you start writing?

From the moment I could write? Like, aren’t we all descendants of storytellers? :) My first novel-length project was when I was…12? 13? I never finished that one, and it’s in Swedish. But I like the bare bones of it. I started writing fanfic in my late teens, once I discovered shounen ai, and sadly stopped in my early twenties due to crappy fandoms and Life getting in the way. Then a little game called Detroit: Become Human came out, and I woke up one day thinking “Fuck this shit. I’m gonna write what I WANT TO READ and screw what everyone else thinks.”

Do you have any words of encouragement for fellow writers of writeblr?

I’m a pantser at heart - as in I write by the seat of my pants - but I’ve found a little bit of planning ahead makes it easier for me to keep track of a story. I use bullet points A LOT, but always with the tacit agreement - between me and my brain - that nothing is sacred, and everything is up for revising if the story needs it, or the characters take things in a different direction. And believe you me, I always end up scrapping things I’ve planned will happen, and the story is never worse off for it. But! Don’t throw away text you love! Keep it in a separate document, or several. You’ll never find out where those paragraphs or sentences belong if you delete them.

And, one last tip: trust your writer gut. That thing Character A insisted should be kept in the beginning of the story, you know, that Thing you have no idea where that came from? It might just reveal its purpose in a much later chapter. If you’ve had that sort of epiphany, you know what I’m talking about. And if you’re just starting your writing journey - you’ll know when it happens. It’s the best feeling ever.

Trust yourself. Trust your stories. Trust the characters, whether they’re your original babies, or beloved fandom blorbos.

I love when Kaito uses puzzles as heist notes T-T Though the movies play more into it than the anime does. I love this scene though, Kaito has pissed off so many police officers, he's doing the world a great service :p

The famous quiz time that I will never be able to understand as they play on the Japanese language and I am an uncultured person who only knows one language.

Heiji your gay is showing again. He was so excited to see Shinichi again, it's a shame Shinichi came to see another man XD

"Don't try, they grew up together." Ran, that does not mean Kazuha owns him now. Any girl is allowed to try, it's up to Heiji to turn them down if he truly loves Kazuha.

"They remind me of you and Shinichi." and it's Heiji and Kazuha arguing. So romantic <.< I'm going to give myself a headache from rolling my eyes so much.

So, I need to say this at least once, but this movie would have been the perfect time to make Shinichi and Kaito related. This movie is all about family, yet instead he uses it to further develop the bond between Shinichi and Kaito by making Kaito protect Shinichi, both his life and then his identity. It just tells me that recent developments were never actually planned and I will die on this hill.

Shinichi knowing Kaito so well that he's weirded out by his message when everyone else is willing to just call it arrogance. Because they have a connection they don't have with others~

The dove T-T You don't understand how much I love this dove and love when writers include it in their fanfiction. Because Shinichi (and Ran) go above and beyond by caring for it when they didn't have to.

Again, Shinichi knows there is a greater reason for Kaito targeting the egg even though he doesn't know why. And he has such great trust in Kaito's ability to survive T-T

Why did Sonoko just drag Shinichi away? It didn't have to do with leaving Ran alone with a pretty girl was it (sorry I have several agendas and I am pushing all of them during this watch).

Shinichi just sharing his birthday forgetting that Ran would know it and make a connection between him and Conan. I hate that she thinks she's dumb for thinking about him and making the connection though, that's what all the gaslighting by Shinichi and his supporters have done to her and it honestly angers me so much.

And of course Shinichi didn't notice the shift in her mood either <.<

Once again, I'm supposed to believe Shinichi loves Ran when he can't even notice she's acting strangely (but he notices Kaito's more observant behaviour of him immediately).

Ran is literally only here to be sad. The role she's often reduced to by the series. God the disrespect to her as a character, it makes me so mad <.< Even moments when she's "discovering Shinichi" it's so she can be sad about it for Shinichi's own feelings (instead of mad like she deserves to be for herself). Oh and she's here to hush her father so Shinichi can work.

Kaito probably knew the password the whole time but had to keep quiet so the others would figure it out XD

I will say it though, the characters in this series cry so prettily. It's just that we hate Ran crying over this because it can be avoided so easily.

"This love song is playing for Shinichi and Ran." WRONG, IT'S PLAYING FOR SHINICHI AND KAITO (let me be delusional).

Kaito doesn't need to show off like this with his doves but he needs to put on one for Shinichi, kind of like how a bird dances to show off to a mate. He's also showing Shinichi all their future children (the doves).

So I needed a little warm-up and used my “What the plot”-cards for that and since it was so much fun and MORE than a “short” piece, I decided to post it here XD

prompts: "tell us about the time your guardian angel refused to protect you" and "execution, space-time-continuum, velociraptor" Warnings: implied violence&death by dinosaur, insane characters, supernatural characters

“No.”

“No what?”

I stared at my guardian angel as if they’d grown wings. Which should be something they had anyway, but not mine. No, mine had no wings but blue glowing horns and their arms crossed and a gaze so adamant, it felt final.

“No to this, to you, to this whole damn mission. Velociraptors? Seriously?”

Helplessly, I shrugged. As if the Velociraptors were the weird part of this story.

“But it’s your job.”

“No”, they shook their head to fast, their twenty-two eyes seemed to become one, reminding me of Sauron, “My job was to protect a normal person with a normal life. You were supposed to be mediocre, remember?”

Again, I shrugged but this time I had to grin: “That’s a pity then that I don’t remember being told to stay mediocre.”

“This is your own fault.”

“How?”, They could accuse me of much, but the situation they were supposed to get me out from for sure wasn’t my fault!

“Free will was a mistake”, they grumbled, dropped down onto the floor and stared at me, knowing very well they were stuck with me now. It was a rule after all that they couldn’t simply vanish and do whatever they wanted. We’d both learned that the hard way.

“Okay, listen”, I tried, shuffling a bit closer, ignoring their death glare with practised ease, “I couldn’t know the new machine would cause such a mess with the time and space continuum, okay?”

“But you built the machine!”

“I am a scientist after all, what was I supposed to do? Not build it?”

“Yes?”

“Nah!”, I shook my head and lifted my fist into the air, “It’s my honour of ...”

“Shut up”, they rolled their eyes and I wanted to know if they were allowed to even. This one seemed rather rude for an angelic creature.

“Are you actually a devil? A demon?”

Used to that question, they threw some of the dirty straw of the ground at me.

“I asked you to sit still for one damn week at least. Not even a month, not even a year. Just one damn week. And now what? I have to rescue you from an execution! With a velociraptor!”

Okay, to be fair I could see their point, but really, it wasn’t fair to blame it only on me.

“It was supposed to be the fifteenth century. How should I have known that they have tamed dinosaurs and use them to execute people?”

The deadpan look was one I was familiar with and the bright moonlight shining into my cell only heightened the round features.

“Listen”, they leaned forward and threw some more straw at me, “You claim yourself to be a scientist but does this look like the fifteenth century? What’s with all the filth? The murder and torture? Where’s all the culture and colours? You got it so wrong, I am not at all mad that they’re gonna kill you.”

“Is this personal?”, I asked but they looked away, pressing their knuckles until a satisfying crack was to be heard.

“Come on”, I grinned, “Those might be my last hours. Can’t you tell me why this has you so worked up?”

They squinted at me and then huffed: “It’s just on principle. I liked the century, okay? It’s my favourite.”

“With all the torture and wars?”

“I told you it wasn’t like that!”

We stared at each other for long moments, their pitch black eyes and rainbow coloured skin once more fascinating, especially with the enigmatic light.

“So, now what?”, I asked a bit later, “You’ll just stay and watch me get eaten?”

“Sure”, they shrugged.

“Okay”, I replied and leaned back against the cold stone wall of my cell. Maybe I should have worried more and maybe I should have panicked, but instead I felt calm and quiet, too used to last-second-rescues and insane situations. I appreciated the night as much as I could see through my small window, not even feeling the cold. The flimsy medieval farmer costume I’d gotten from a Halloween store for sure couldn’t be the reason for that. I wondered if my guardian angel was helping out by making me feel warm but I didn’t care enough to ask. Instead, I watched the way the clouds shifted slowly through the sky, covering the moon now and then, as if to hide it from our sight.

“They would have mistrusted you even if it was the actual fifteenth century and not some wild medieval filter horror fantasy”, they told me with their quiet, raspy voice which only seemed to echo in my head, “Your clothes look horrible and your green skin will forever be too obvious, but you know that at least.”

I stretched my arm out so it caught some light from the moon, the green almost greyish in this world. I had known. Of course, I had. I turned it around and opened my palm as if to catch each particle of colour I found. There was barely a difference between day and light here and I wondered if their sunrise and my execution would be here soon. The thought didn’t fill me with horror but with fascination. I giggled.

“You’re insane.”

I grinned: “You know you love me.”

“You’re a nuisance.”

“And I’ll forever come back to haunt you.”

They sighed dramatically: “I know. Sadly. But I’ll hide your equipment, I promise!”

“You can try!”

I’d only ever died once, despite their efforts to save me from getting between the lines but I already knew I’d always find a way back. And I was sure I’d find my equipment anywhere. I had a mission to continue after all.

Sudden voices outside and a low growl made us perk up and for a second I thought my guardian angel looked worried, maybe even thinking about rescuing me.

“Will you get into trouble?”

They shrugged: “A stern talking probably. But they don’t have anyone else to guard you.”

I laughed out loud, enjoying how the sound seemed to explode in this cold and silent space.

The guards coming into my cell looked at me with fear and confusion, unsure what to make of this strange creature who looked almost like them, a glitch in the matrix maybe. Five of them pointed their weapons at me, even though I would have followed them willingly, simply out of curiosity.

I turned to my Guardian Angel one last time, winking: “It’s always an honour to study Earth. It’s a pity I didn’t get to see much from this world this time.”

“Maybe”, they hissed, forced to follow me till the bitter end, “Don’t try to eat the pope next time.”

I snorted, remembering the taste I’d gotten and then I laughed and laughed and laughed, even when big teeth sank into my chest, ripping me apart, sinking the grey world into darkness.

 “Welcome on Earth, visitor”, a familiar voice said and I opened my eyes once more, staring at a world that looked as if it had been coloured by an especially happy five year old.

“This”, the disembodied light voice introduced a familiar, scowling figure in front of me, “is your Guardian Angel. They will accompany you during your time here and help you stay safe.”

“Hi”, I grinned, feeling a bit strange in my new skin, although it looked exactly like my old one, “Fancy seeing you here. How was it?”

They pulled a face: “Horrible. Your intestines were everywhere. At least my superiors stopped the scolding because I was still throwing up. No more dinosaurs please.”

I sat up properly, the fondness in my chest swelling thanks to their scowl: “I’ll try.”

As if put my feet down on the ground, sensing the soft, grassy texture for the first and thousandth time, a well known excitement took me over.

“But”, I couldn’t but grin and through their exasperated eye-roll I could see the hint of a mischievous smile, “I can’t promise.”

2. Do you plan each chapter ahead or write as you go?

If I'm writing a serial multi-chapter, I will have a loose outline of the overall story beats, but I usually leave most of the specifics to be worked out as I go along, because I often get a lot of inspiration from the exact way I worded or described something in a previous chapter. That said, when I start any given chapter, I know what I want to do with it. I just don't necessarily know exactly what I'm going to do with the next one. (I have one? I think just one, fic that's an exception to this in that the chapters were fully-planned ahead of time, but it's only two chapters and it's not exactly a complicated "plot.")

So, I'm a plantser, basically.

19. What is the most-used tag on your ao3?

I don't feel like trying to do exact tallies because there's a fair bit to look through, but it might actually be #Knifeplay, which is hilarious to me because I write comparatively little porn. (High chance also of #Canon Compliant or #Reunions winning that one)

20. Have you noticed any patterns in your fics? Words/expressions that appear a lot, themes, common settings, etc?

Well, knifeplay, apparently, for one. xD

Themes-wise, I am Weak for reunions, and have a teensy tiny bit of a history of latching onto ships that have that as a prominent aspect, whether canonically or just it's-convenient-to-include. (Read as: a large majority of ships I write, actually.)

Dream sequences. I do them. A lot.

I'm very good at picking up specific writing style vibes in other people's fic, but not very good at doing so with my own. One thing that I am aware of, which has been reinforced by multiple other people commenting on it, is that I'm prone to dry/snarky humor in the narration (and prefer to write characters who let me go full-throttle on that).

And one more thing I know about myself as a writer is that I'm a minimalist - very NOT in the sense of "less is more," but in the sense of "I can fit so many feelings in 2k just watch me." I struggle with word count-based goals because I am constitutionally incapable of rambling, in written prose. Every single sentence has to be doing a unique job, and if I go back and realize I've repeated myself AND MISSED IT IN THE EDIT I die a little inside. (Spoken is another matter entirely.) I'm gonna blame NSF Graduate Research Fellowship applications at a formative writing age (I'd just started writing fic!) for that one.

Plot: As a serial killer targets women on dating apps, a true-crime junkie must figure out which of her three dates is a f-boy, marriage material, or is trying to kill her.

Starring: Lucy Hale, Virginia Gardner, Brooke Nevin, Salmer Salem, Jedidiah Goodacre, Bathany Brown & JayR Tinaco

Now classifying this as a horror movie is being generous because nothing about it is remotely scary, but I'm counting it because I can. lol And well, I just watched it as light amusement not expecting much, and wanted to be able to come on here to confirm that was a good choice. XD I went in knowing it wasn't going to be that good, just based on the poster, and then seeing the trailer that showed a decent amount of the movie, so can't say there was too much disappointment. I mostly only watched it because of familiar faces Lucy Hale and Virginia Gardner (who thanks to my Runaways fandom days will always be Ginny to me) and figured that would help me get through it. I think that part was true. Lucy is kinda a hit-or-miss actress for most people I'd say, just because it does feel like her range is a little limited (probably safe to say it's the same for Ginny if we're being honest here) but there is still a comfort of seeing a known face and well, I do think comedy is more of her strong suit, so I was game to watch her as the lead. The only other familiar face to me was Jedidiah Goodacre from his short stint on The Originals/Legacies. He definitely made sure to milk what he could with his role here as the obnoxious but seemingly good guy Kyle. The thing about the movie is I certainly see where it was probably a harder movie to sell so it's kinda no wonder why its release didn't pan out that great. It's a comedy thriller that doesn't really handle its tonal shifts as well as it could have, but that said, it has some entertaining moments. I was having fun with it enough since the cast seemed like they were, but it did start making me think, hmmm I wonder how this is gonna end and began making a couple guesses since there were only a few ways it could go. I do gotta admit, kinda amusing I was able to guess it as a joke. XD And this is where I briefly gotta go into spoilers: Probably should have guessed who the killer is because, yes, the trailer teases it being one of the guys, and there's a couple moments to show us it could very well be, but who has their name as second billing here, huh??? lol Now, to be fair, Ginny would have gotten her name on the poster anyway since she's been a lead plenty of times now but just an interesting thing to point out as a possible clue. Either way, gotta talk about that climax since it does kinda prove my point on Ginny's range being limited a little because while I did believe her unhinged performance for a minute, it didn't always hit every beat convincingly, which made that confrontation fall flat in the end. But also, that comes back to the overall tone being a little... off? lol As a person who loves horror comedies, I know it can be done right but it did feel a little silly, to be frank. XD Anyway, that said, I can't say it was totally horrible since I said it entertained me at times but I don't think I could recommend it though unless you're a fan of either/both the girls or just want a mindless comedy with occasional thriller moments while it also acts as a romcom? Idk. lol

Unless Y2K actually does become available on Christmas Eve like people are expecting now, this might be my last new-to-me horror movie watch of the year. I'm hoping Y2K does get digitally released then though because I am excited for it.

Oh! Finally some news about NewClass7!

Slight translation mistake about Ash becoming the new Duke Cayenne but apparently he tours Zemuria with a motorbike now. Oh and Juna is indeed approaching becoming part of the SSS. So it seems like everyone is doing quite well.

Lots of discussion about Reans Harem in the chat and someone said he is glad that Rean is Single since Riveri. Uh... is he? Wasn't it that you could chose who your girlfriend was? Yes! The influence was overall just some minor text-changes that also happened if these girls were your best friends but... oh well... I mean... its not like I will ever see my ship again anyway...

Moving on with the plot... *achem*

So apparently Rean and Crow were specifically invited to Calvard to have like a Panzer Soldat (that is not what they are called anymore but I can not seem to find myself able to ever remember the names ^^') mock battle with the Calvardian army. Likely because those assholes want to prove that they can even beat the former pilotes of diving knights...

Rean just admitting that their Panzer Soldats are inferior to theirs now makes me mad.

Oh... my Erebonian-Bitch-Pride does not take well with the idea of those two losing in a Panzer-Soldat battle. Like... this would be so wrong I... I was holding my breath the whole time ^^'

Well Gotch... if this movie includes Rean and Crow Shirtless and only wearing a short Towel I am all in for it XD (Its not like we never had that before but I do miss my regular fanservice of those guys quote a lot ^^')

Coming Attractions!

First Monday of the month, so here we go.

As per usual, this also means an open question night--my askbox is always open, but I'll be actively keeping an eye on it tonight. I do take prompts, but am not necessarily fast in filling them. Any fandom I've posted about here or on AO3 is fair game, as is any of my original stuff.

Short one this month, because I didn't get much done last month, whoops...a big work project took up more brainmeats than I expected it would, ah well.

Mostly moved, mostly everything is sorted; a few things I still need to finish organizing/putting away/etc. But that should also free up some brainspace hopefully!

Anyway. Actual updates.

Star Wars:

Pretty much the same as last week--need to catch up on OTP meme fills; poking back at my original plan for last year's SWBB so I can use it for this year. Not a lot of progress, but hopefully this month will be better!

BSG:

Big Bang matches have gone out! I'm excited to see how everything turns out. And hopefully get actually back into writing the many plotlines that are floating around in my head, lol...particularly The Other Battlestar which still needs an Official title and has been waiting to come out of my head and get Shared for like. over a year. even discounting the like 8-10 year gap when I wandered away from the fandom...

I should be picking up my rewatch soon, too! I have the back half of season 3, plus season 4, and maybe the webisodes (I have access to Face of the Enemy but not Resistance, so we'll see if I actually watch those). Which does mean we're coming up on my absolute least favorite episode in the entire series, haha. I haven't even gotten to it yet and I'm already mad about it (and have found an Additional Reason to be mad about it that I hadn't had before! Yay!) But also after that I get Lampkin, who I love, and while season 4 is a mess in terms of cohesion/continuity it has some of my very favorite episodes in the entire series, So.

Castlevania:

I haven't actually sat down and watched Nocturne yet (mostly because of the aforementioned work stuff), so I haven't quite fallen back into this fandom yet. I do want to get back to Incinctus, and I had one other plot thread idea for another fic based on the first series (essentially, shifting Alucard's S3 timeline by six weeks so the night Sumi and Taka plan to attack him is the same night Greta's messenger gets there, and then see where things go from there).

It's kind of interesting--I have approximately zero knowledge of the games, apart from a few bits and pieces I've picked up from reading fics and/or hanging out on a discord server. Which, of course, has been talking a lot about Nocturne...but almost entirely in the context of how it relates to the game characters/plotlines it's drawing from. Which means I'm both...more and less hyped for it? I don't know, I'm not sure how to word how it's impacted my interest/excitement/etc. for the followup series, because a lot of the comments about certain characters/choices completely fly over my head but they Dominate the server and I'm like "...okay?"

Anyway, we'll see how I feel about it when I watch the series. And if I do end up building a VC crossover in my head (because like. armand and the theatre are right there and while I was able to confine myself to a quick Easter Egg reference in Incinctus...lol.)

Les Mis:

The next chapter of P&J is coming, I swear. Also planning to debut Acheron this month because...I mean I know it's technically a Groundhog Day AU set in June, but it feels appropriate to start posting it around Halloween? IDK XD

Ah! Me actually doing something I said I was gonna do on the day I said I was gonna do it??? I am so proud of myself XD 😅😅

Plot: Kai has come to reclaim you- pity you have no idea who the heck he is, what he’s talking about or…  well, you do have an idea what he wants. BUT WHY? This doesn’t make any sense.

He’s terrifying.

He’s so terrifying, that when he first crashed down- from the sky- into your rice paddy, destroying a whole field of crops, you had tried to run! You took one glance at this behemoth of a bull, with glowing emerald eyes, double sided blades attached to long, powerful chains, and a devilish grin on his face, aimed at you, and-

You tried to run. You turned around, very nearly getting a mouth full of mud as you tripped, but instead catching yourself with a hand, pushing yourself back up and forcing yourself forward. Over the sound of your pounding heart you had heard him chuckle at what you assume he considered a feeble little escape attempt, and the sound was like thunder cracking across the sky during a storm. Not quite so loud, but deep enough to feel it, and otherworldly, and- it sent fear shooting through your blood stream. If I can just get out of his sight, you had thought. It would be fine.

But that was not apart of his plan.

The blades that were in his hands were faster than you, racing ahead of you, crossing over each other and jamming deep into the ground. The chains surrounded you, you stopped- and then he started to pull.

You tried to get out of the way and escape but he was stronger, the blades drug through the muddy ground fast back toward you and then they were on you. They tripped you, causing you to fall into the mud, hands and knees covered in the stuff, as he drew you right back to him in no time at all. It wasn’t a fair fight, you felt weak, and terrified.  

“Heh… “ When you were back beneath him, while you’re feeling even smaller then before on the wet and dirty ground now, he crouched down and leaned his monstrous arms around both sides of you and yanked his blades back out of the ground. Spirits- this man was only wearing a loincloth! And- ugh. Your nose had scrunched up, turning pointedly away from his face and cringing into yourself. His disgusting, clotted hair smelled. When he didn’t pull away fully right away though like you thought, you turned back to his face - now mere inches from your own as he stared at you, assessed you, glanced all over you, - with wide eyes. Your lips part, at this monster in front of you still looking all-to-amused, meaning to ask what he wants, but he beats you to it. “Hm… you really don’t remember me, do you?”

Your eyes widened even more if it were possible. “I… I don’t know you.” … Should you?

Finally he pulls back and stands up again, leaving you with some space once again so you can breath, and you watched him look around at your thoroughly destroyed fields and the stormy sky surrounding them; Breathing heavily. Thinking.

As he breathed out, he emitted visible air from his nostrils. “Nah… I guess not. It has been five hundred years… ” Your mouth fell open once again, wishing to ask if he’s absolutely positive- but he once again cut you off before you could speak. This time with his eyes, those lime green, glowing orbs - green eyes on a bull? That made you nervous even more than his huge frame did, - flickered back down to you again… and he looked fond.

… Which was not the kind of look you wanted to see on someone so powerful, who claimed they knew you. Who could easily just take you.

“Yes, I’m positive, little one.”

“I- I… didn’t ask.” You say now, eyes wide. How did he know you were thinking that?

“Yeahh, but you were thinking it.” He shrugs, casually rolling those boulder-like shoulders. It moves his entire body, the jade stones hung on his belt clanging against each other at his hips. “You may not know me, but I know you.” He smirks, eyes once again flickering up and down your body still knelt in the mud. “Trust me.”

“… You’re crazy- “

Blinking, and wondering why on earth you have ended up in this insane situation with the delusional, ludicrously over powered loin-cloth bull, you push yourself up to your feet and wipe your hands on your already ruined pants. You’re still uneasy, but the bull doesn’t seem to be trying to hurt you just this second- just your crops he’s still trampling- “The spirit realm??... “

He makes a sound like mhm, grunting, and seeming to take your questioning tone as an opportunity for a little bit of casual chit chat. “Yep. 500 years… “

… You don’t believe this crack story for a second. “Uh- “

You’re cut off by a great big sigh, and look up in time to watch him roll his eyes just as deeply. “I know, I get it- you don’t believe me. And hey, that’s okay. Doesn’t change anything… You, little one, are still mine. And we’ll find a way for you to remember. If we don’t… you’ll just have to fall in love with me again. Eh? Not so hard.”

At this your jaw actually drops, taking a step back from him. “Yours??” Love???

“Yep.” He nods, refusing to back down, and popping the ‘p’.

“No- “ You try to get away again immediately, turning to walk away, but this time he doesn’t even let you get two steps; Throwing his hand, with a double edged sword in his grip, directly in your way. Eyes widening, you back up from it, following his arm nervously up to his face. “I think you have the wrong person.”

“In a manner of speaking, I do!” He quickly agrees, surprising you- but then his eyes narrow, and you feel unbearably small before him. “… Different body, sure. But I know you… and your Chi?... “At this his eyes take an even brighter glow and you watch him breath in deep, his chest rising until it falls again. “That’s the same… “

“Are you… “ Pausing, you take a deep breath in an attempt to steady your tone, eyes closed as he calmly watches your every move- calmly, because he knows you cant do anything. You can’t escape. “A- are you… “ Damnit. “… suggesting… r-reincarnation?? And- and we… ” You… and him?? This massive, terrifying monster right in front of you right now??

An intimate smirk crosses his face then, eyelids half-hooding on you and eyes glowing brighter once again. “We… yeah… And I’d really like to get back to that, so come on- come with me. Willingly. And we’ll figure out howta get there, together.”

“If… “You start, heart beating heavily in your chest as you give the beast an uneasy once-over. “… I say no?... “

“Well, then I’ll take you unwillingly! Hah. That’s not gonna be fun for you- I suggest the willing rout.

Canon Vs. Fanon Aros: Princess Merida

I PRESENT: A NEW ANALYSIS POST ON OUR ARCHERY QUEEN, PRINCESS MERIDA OF DUNBROCH!!! 😄😤🏹✨

Haha okay, but in all seriousness, I’m glad I managed to wrap up the loose ends with this post and get this out to y’all 😅 (sorry about the lateness, I’m fine but lately the combination of work and getting ready for fourth year has been pretty exhausting).

Obviously, as we all know by now, I love a good media analysis, and especially when you look at things from an Aro Lens – and it always fascinates me when I find a character that’s widely regarded by the community as an icon, if not perceived as arospec in some way! 🐸💚💚 Merida is no exception, and I loved having the chance to delve into her character and what (I believe) she represents for our community. Personally, I didn’t watched Brave as a kid, but watching it as an adult and being able to see all those points of tension at the beginning of the movie surrounding marriage – and especially how Merida’s dad described her as wanting to remain single forever and ride off into the sunset shooting arrows – was really relatable, especially as a young woman who’s kind of at that age where people “expect” you to start dating/thinking about things like long-term romantic relationships 😭😭

Anyways, I feel like I’ve covered most of what I want to say in the actual textpost for once 😂, so I’ll just sign off with a note that I will be sharing some extra art and stickers tomorrow.

A princess that rebels against traditional training and etiquette, the plot of the movie follows our protagonist on repairing her relationship with her mother after a falling out and an accidental curse.

Why is do people think Merida is aromantic, or at the very least an Aro Icon?

Great question! To be fair, the movie doesn’t go into the topic of romance so there’s no canonical evidence to Merida’s romantic orientation.

Even so, however, the narrative presented resonates deeply with many aromantic viewers. Merida is ADAMANT about not getting married off (though this is based more in the fact she’s SIXTEEN and doesn’t know any of these boys, which is very understandable) and makes a point of it by rebelling against the archery contest her mother set up to pick her suitor.

NOTE: This is significant because the games are meant for the first born descendants of other clans to compete for her hand. However, since she has chosen archery as the competitive sport, and she is technically the first born of her own clan, this is a clever moment where she is able to use this rule to rebel and attempt to maintain her freedom!

Her behaviour and portrayal really strikes a chord with the aro community, because we are often asked to engage in romance or marriage despite our discomfort. It’s empowering to see a character stand up against these norms!

Given the way amatonormativity also tends to insert as many romantic subplots as possible, it’s uncommon to have no love interest in a movie. Because of this, aros we rarely get to see a story and growth occur without romance, which makes Brave all the more meaningful. Merida’s growth and her agency as a character in this story feels a lot more relatable to us.

It’s because of these elements that many people will consider Merida an aro icon, if not aromantic herself (although this is more of a headcanon)! Also … she’s literally good at archery, which in and of itself is kind of perfect for an aro icon.

Also, Merida’s a Pretty Cool Character for other reasons too!

The focus on familial love in this movie is very heartwarming, and it’s not something you see too often in princess movies. There’s also the intersection between amatonormative ideals and feminism - Merida’s a strong role model for young girls. Though it may seem common now that there are strong/free spirited princesses/female characters in movies for children that take control of their own destinies, it wasn’t so much in mainstream media when Brave first came out.

And especially it’s uncommon to see princesses not have a love interest – historically, patriarchal society uses women’s relationships to men as a indicator of their value, so it’s important to have media that reflects how women can have compelling and complex narratives that feature their importance as a person independently too.

Why is Merida’s existence important to aromantic people and beyond?

In short, it breaks romance norms and also gives aro people a fictional character to relate to! But before we wrap up, I wanted to address the discussion/discourse around “projection” of identity onto Merida – as some people have pointed out before, why is it that if a woman doesn’t show interest in a man in the context of a story should they be interpreted as gay or aspec? This does tie into issues of sexism for women, as mentioned before. But this being said, as an aspec woman I would say that it’s perfectly valid and good for LGBTQ+ to interpret characters to be like them/to have more diversity in interpretation, because we’re so far lacking in representation. It’s a good point to make/ask why we may view a female character this way, but ultimately its understandable, and not harmful/engaging in sexism, to imagine a character that we relate to be like us.

Overall, Merida’s storyline and character was quite groundbreaking regardless of whether or not she’s aromantic, and she’s VERY cool! And personally, I’m glad to have her as an icon for our community!

NOW! Being fair the only one I’ve “promised” updates on is Dog Whistle, and I just updated that Saturday, but there was such a hiatus in-between that I’ll address it.

The fact of the matter is, I got stuck on DW because I wanted to do Shelke justice but she’s a very different fighter than the other Tsviets/SOLDIER (and therefore out of my usual experiences as a writer). A traditional fight scene... isn’t going to be what she’s angling for. She is a Brain, the fact that she was out where someone could attack her head on... that was a miscalculation on their part. She would he have been so much better left to manage things behind the scenes. Alas.

But yeah, a lot of these are either “plot got stuck on a problem” or “character in the story was not cooperating” as you’ll see shortly. XD

Cause of delay on DW: 

- differently paced fight scene / figuring out how to get in Shelke’s head. (shoutout to @wandererriha for getting me unstuck with some great ideas!)

I’ve also had a couple people ask about It’s Not a Game (the FF7/Avengers crossover that I haven’t posted on since early ‘19 whups?) And actually, it’s... sort of tricky what happened.

See, I had finished the next chapter, but it’s short. It’s like, nearly 300 words short of my self-imposed minimum count (I aim for between 1500-2500 words on my chapters because in my experience most people can read that in one sitting and at the same time feel like they’ve read a good chunk / me actually advance the plot / character arcs / etc.)

And I got hung up on that. I couldn’t seem to make it organically longer, and it frustrated me, and it wasn’t like I had a plot for this - spoilers: this was meant to be a thought provoking one-shot what-if, not the multichaptered fix it that it’s turning into - so I didn’t want to jump ahead without really knowing where “ahead” was supposed to be.

I have since then accepted that the chapter’s going to just be short and I have some ideas on where I’m going from there. I do, in fact, have a few chapters written now (like, 2.5 I think? maybe 3? I don’t have it open right now) but I want to try and wind up DW before I start working hard core on something as plotty as INAG is threatening to become. To top it off, Age of Ultron (2015) had started my decline in enthusiasm for Marvel (I really only watched the Iron Man and Avengers movies; Guardians of the Galaxy and Ragnarok were exceptions) and in 2019 what happened? Endgame, and a severe blow to my love of the MCU.

Cause of delay on INAG:

- pacing issues + lack of plotting + falling a little out of love with the MCU canon and therefore losing my grip on Tony and Bruce, which makes it harder to write the story.

Some honorable mentions under the cut since this is too long already:

Another WIP is Party of Five, which no one has asked about in a long time but does get a mention because... basically I’ve got at least two chapters edited but I need to make some changes to fix things and... really? The big thing is I fell out of doing MMOs, so I lost enthusiasm for writing about MMOs. XD There’s an unposted, halfformed Sanders Sides MMO AU I’ve even got that never saw the light of day for the same reason.

That said, I’m planning on starting some serious gaming soon, if all goes according to plan, so you might just see me revisiting that!

Cause of delay on Po5:

- quit playing MMOs and lost enthusiasm for a MMO heavy fic

Then of course there’s the Welcome to FFVII series and that one’s been even longer stagnating... and the biggest thing getting in my way is saying “how much am I willing to stick to a canon that doesn’t make sense” + “how do I make it make sense / justify things” and I think anyone in the FFVII fandom can relate. We love it dearly, but it is a hot mess. It’s been a hot mess since day one, and just gets messier the deeper into the Compilation you go.

I’m not even touching the Remake, and doubt playing it would make me change my mind.

Cause of delay on WTFFVII:

- canon is a hot mess and it’s really hard to make it make sense. Brain-bendingly hard. It requires a lot of thinking and tbh I think I’m just going to overhaul the whole thing into something new.

My last two (posted) WIPs are not, in fact, FF7 fics so you guys may or may not have read them.

I have a ton written on Dewprism: Journey to the [Relic] - my seminovelization of the old PS1 game that approximately 5 people remember, because I did it for a NaNo. Frankly, I think it has some of the highest quality prose out of anything I’ve ever written.

It also has no comments. And very simply? I write for myself - I wrote over 50K on this baby for me, because I love it - but I post to share the love. It hasn’t gotten attention, so it’s on the back burner. Why spend time on something no one’s reading?

Cause of delay on JTTR:

- zero feedback on 12 chapters killed my enthusiasm for the project. I’ll come back to it someday, but it’s not a priority.

And finally, Times of Change, which does actually get periodic traffic - I would say probably only because it’s listed as “inspired by” a fic from the fantastic @deadcatwithaflamethrower but who knows.

This one suffered from the same problem Po5 did - it’s a crossover with SWTOR... which I quit playing. It also has the problem that INAG did, in that it’s not fully plotted. And additionally it’s been so long since I’ve read the fic it’s based off of I’d have to go back and do that too. So while it’s not abandoned... it’s way down the list. XD

Cause of delay on ToC:

- lost touch with Star Wars in general, honestly, and specifically the two (fan)canons it was born from to begin with. Lack of enthusiasm = lack of progress.

C2E43 - In Hot Water - rewatch reaction

One of the hardest things about the rewatch is wanting to rush to ‘get to the good bits’, because I have scenes that have stayed in my head rent free.  One of the best things about the rewatch is relearning that it’s almost all good bits, and sections that I’d forgotten bring me so much delight.

WELL APPARENTLY I NEEDED THE BREAK, apologies for both my last C2 reaction being minimal and my last C3 reaction being freaking non-existent.  I really am enjoying watching and analyzing and reacting, but it does take energy to do so, and sometimes I just want to chill and passively ingest my content. XD

I miss Fjord so much.  This rewatch has 100% reignited by love for Fjord!  I adored him the first watch through, but then got distracted with my love for Caleb and Beau, so I’m so so so glad that I’m loving him even more this time around.  Don’t get me wrong, I’m really enjoying his C3 PC too!  But [name redacted] is not hitting me as well as Fjord is.  (granted, only 18 episodes into C3, so that has time to change!)

(...I’m also considering stopping the total C3 restraint from these rewatches. I’m not going to go into the new PCs or plot stuff at all, but I might start saying PC names/races/classes, and if it may appear if there is a trend following or not.  I’M NOT SURE.  Guaranteed I’m thinking about this WAY more than anyone who reads these do!)

Liam slowly placing the Wall of Fire, and then Travis accidentally knocking the mast and sending the minis flying XD

I don’t recall if I said it last episode, but I do love that the Wall of Fire became such an iconic moment in C2.  C1 it feels like had bigger iconic moments because so many of them were combat related whereas with C2 usually it just feels like ‘cupcake’ and that’s it, but this is reminding me that there were a lot of iconic moments in C2 as well, they just took place during ‘quieter’ moments, maybe. ...Honestly though, it does feel like C1 had bigger iconic moments, and I say that as someone who vastly prefers C2.

COUNTERSPELL!!!!!! Ugh I love Counterspell SO MUCH, I also can’t believe that this is the first time it happened in C2!  Liam’s face is both hysterically and disturbingly intense.

They’ve planned this on some level for two weeks, and yet they are completely frazzled and thrown off by their plan succeeding.  I adore it so much you guys, SO MUCH.

Caleb’s down! ...does any one else actually really enjoy when PCs go unconscious? To me, it always just ramps up the tension and gives a little drama. There’s something delightfully stressful about death saves.  (and to be fair, I did enjoy how much C1 had to use Revivify or other such, thought it also had the downside of making death feel VERY escapable.  C2 had much less use of Revivify, but due to Molly’s death, death felt like it had much more of a consequence.  I’m not someone who roots for PCs to die permanently, because I want these guys to be able to play the character they’ve designed, but I do love the drama)

(WAIT WAIT WAIT THEY’RE STARTING TO RELEASE C2 DICE YES YES YES!!!  ...I think I might need the Molly dice, they’re what I wanted the Vax dice to look like)

I…….wait.   UGH SUCH A GREAT MOMENT OH MY GOD ILU BEAU

They are all SO worked up over the combat, Liam’s getting huffy with Avantika and Matt stopped for a moment confused before Liam had to clarify that he’s having a great time just FUCK AVANTIKA and I love it so much! Especially because even during first watch through, this combat didn’t feel so intense to me?  Which is such an odd juxtaposition how they’re all freaking out, and I end up forgetting this combat a lot! XD  As always, a good reminder of the difference between watching and playing.

Okay, so it’s very likely that Fjord used his real voice when saying “Help me help this man!” to try to convince the guards, but I’m going to take it as his real voice slipping out because of fear for Caleb dying. ….look, I can have little shippy moments too!

OH SHIT another failed wisdom save from Caleb!  I didn’t remember this one!  (well deserved though, he just killed what, four or five people with one Fireball???  WELL FUCKING DONE but then also makes complete sense for him to lose it)

I FORGOT JAMEDI WORKED FOR THE PLANK KING!!!

Also, these are definitely some of my favorite Beau moments.  This is really where she starts coming into her own, where you really start to see Expositor shining through.

Omg wait is this where the whole “beau has been lying about her job to the group” came from????  ‘cause they all just went and grabbed their books, but Beau’s not actually an Expositor yet! XD  She’s been pretty honest about the Soul from early on, just doesn’t talk about it a lot.  She’s just pulling a very high level bluff right now.

THE FUCKING TENSION IN THIS SCENE!!!  Seriously, I think the conversation between Avantika and the Plank King when she’s under Extort Truth is one of the highest tension moments of the campaign.  Both campaigns even. Just, you can FEEL the tension vibrating and the cast is freaking the fuck out in their seats.  WHOOOF.  The power of the Beau/Fjord combo when they are being persuasive.  

This entire section was so fucking good.  It’s odd, I’m almost not sure if I actually want a Darktow one shot?  Like, I want them to deal with Sabien 10000%, and I’m fine with Kingsley joining the Revelry, especially as the Plank King wouldn’t know him, but I kinda like the Plank King and want him to stick around?  He seems fair enough, for pirates.  Mixed feelings.  But I’m also not sure what I’d actually want one shots on, and I DO want a few M9 one shots!  Happy Fun Ball would be a good one, chasing Sabien – which will probably end up being Darktow – is also a great idea, I wouldn’t say no to an Aeor one shot but I know a lot of the fanbase got very tired of that section….hrm.

I wonder if the desire for a Darktow one shot is what prompted Fjord to speak to Vandran that they might overthrow the Plank King during his epilogue wrap up.  Because I’ll be honest, that still comes out of left field for me.  Regardless of where it falls along Fjord’s arc, early or late campaign, I don’t see it particularly in character for him to want to overthrow the Plank King, unless the Plank King actively targeted him or people he cared about.  Which never happens! The only way it makes any sense to me is if he thinks that the Plank King is deliberately sheltering Sabien from Fjord, which I cannot believe to be true.  There might be something here that I’m missing in Fjord’s characterization that the rest of the fanbase picked up on, but I just don’t see it.  I just can’t see Fjord, having decided that he’s going to want to spend his life at sea, decide that he needs to interfere in Darktow and with the Revelry.  I mentioned before, but I can’t even really see Fjord wanting to become a pirate.  He seems to me like he’d want more of an honest adventuring life at sea, rather than wanting to steal from ships, rob, intimidate, kill, etc.

(also I totally thought the episode was going to end once they left, but that would have been one of if not THE shortest episodes of all because that would have been just a bit over two hours)

It’s fascinating to see Divination, with the direct answer from the Wildmother as well, as we’re so used to seeing Commune and Matt having the Wildmother communicate via breezes and scents and feelings.    In terms of RP, I think I like Commune more because of how the relationship between cleric and divinity feels, more distant and more worshiping, if that makes sense.  The answers are only the equivalent of yes or no, but it’s played in such a way that it truly feels like a patron providing guidance from up high.  Divination feels a little bit like phone-a-friend (as Liam and Sam both goof), with how direct it is.  I do wonder if Cad had cast it again, after Matt had gotten a feel through Commune, if the Wildmother would have been as clear as she was here.  (also, CR stats shows that Cad casts Divination twice, but I’m only seeing it once via the transcripts. The second time Tal says he’s casting Divination, but then after a few moments of back and forth, corrects himself to casting Commune)

Interesting that when alone with Caleb and Nott, Beau still leans into the implication that she’s an Expositor, even though she’s not.  Now I’m wondering if it’s deliberate, or if Marisha/Beau does think that she’s an Expositor, and not realizing that she’s training/learning to be one.  This makes the ‘you had a secret job!’ bit more understandable, considering Beau doesn’t outright deny.

(also slight annoyance with Liam.  Sam was clearly starting down one path of RP, I get that you had the thing about Fjord that you wanted to say, but don’t steamroll the RP to be your way!  At least I know you get better with this as time goes on, but ugh.  Not cool dude, not cool. Wait until Sam’s finished what he wanted to bring up, THEN go into your bit.)

Jester asking Fjord how he’s doing, and just the quiet conversation, to suddenly be nailed with ‘if we find Vandren, do you think you’ll stop talking like him?’ FUCK, LAURA.  You knew what you were doing when you said that!!!  I remembered two moments but not this one, and this was a bombshell drop!  I appreciate how well it works in the actual moment though, it’s not Laura dropping the bombshell for bombshell’s sake, but it’s a moment where Jester is genuinely concerned for Fjord.  It makes me wonder when, during their journey, Fjord started using the accent anyway.  I think they’d said they only traveled together for like, two weeks before they met up with Beau?  Maybe even less time than that.

THE REVEAL THAT BOTH CLERICS HAVE CONTROL WATER!!!!!  Travis’s FAAAACE

and HERE.  IT.  IS. THIS is the defining moment of Nott and Fjord’s relationship, in my opinion.  Fjord’s trying to convince her to go below the waves talking about how there could be buttons, jewels, etc, and she goes ‘don’t talk down to me’ and to me, this is the absolute moment where the relationship switches to this mutual roasting.  Especially as soon (just checked, the Talks for episode 46), Sam confirms that Nott isn’t quite taking the comments and joking and is sniping back a bit more honestly.  It eases from there eventually, but this is the moment where it feels like it changes.

Octo!Frumpy!!!  I can’t like, I utterly ADORE how much Caleb loves his cat, and how heavily Liam sticks in tiny RP moments to show how much he loves his cat, like the grimace of pain while changing him to an octopus.

Is it odd to say that I find this section to be where Jester and Caduceus seem to really get their groove as the two cleric party?  They’ve been interacting wonderfully before, there was no real disconnect with them ever, but this is the time where they have their unique spells and abilities that they can bring to combat, but then both use Create Food and Water, both use Locate Object, both use Control Water, just in a way that really makes it feel like they’re working so well together.  It really makes me wonder how Laura would have been had Molly not died and Jester continued to be the sole cleric of the party.  It just works SO well with two of them, it’s so hard to picture it otherwise.  It feels incomplete without the two of them there.  I can see a party where Caduceus would be the only cleric and Taliesin enjoying it, but with how much Laura wanted to fight and not have to solely focus on healing, being able to share the load just seems like something that made her gameplay a lot more enjoyable to her, I think.

Oh thank god Jester remembers to take Sprinkle out!  I have no clue how Matt would be able to weasel his way out of killing him this time (lolimadeapunnynoiamnotactuallylollingthatwasabad)

Sam doing garbled underwater voice is impressive as FUCK.  I legit watched it a few times because holy shit that’s good.

I’m actually using tumblr’s new short post thing, hoping it makes things load easier, but I’m still gonna keep doing the Read Mores for people who may not have that setting enabled.
