What do you think about the concept of time travel ? Are there any ideas you’ve always wanted to explore in any of your fics ?
time travel is intriguing, because you can do a lot of interesting things with it, but i am personally not smart enough to handle a concept like that with the complexity it deserves. i feel like the best kinds are the ones that actually engage with the narrative's chronology of events and do something interesting with it, but idk what that would look like! i don't read them! i did once write a snippet for someone who requested for a time-travel fanfic based on a fan art from twitter that i can't find anymore. it's not smart or complex or anything, it's still a WIP, and it's mainly just comedic/crack, but here it is:
The Hollow is ugly, is the thing. It takes all but a minute for Chad to finish it off with a clean swipe of his arm, but the mess it leaves behind is nasty, a sludge of ominous green goop. It stings, with little wisps of smoke curling into the air like snakes.
Uryuu tuts and slings his bag to his other hand so he can offer Chad a napkin.  “Kurumadani is being rather neglectful again.”
Chad hums, wiping off the sludge and extending his arm so Uryuu can get the parts on his back he missed. They’ll be late for school at this rate, but Chad would rather not show up smelling like a medium-rare Hollow when he already gets weird enough looks on a normal day. He flexes his arm. “Do you think it’s poisoned?”
Uryuu cuts off whatever response he was about to make in favor of squinting into the sun, hand already shifting to his belt to retrieve a weapon. For just the tiniest flash of a second, there’s a pitch-black hole in the sky, and before they know it, a small, human-shaped shadow rockets down at an alarming speed, a familiar fireball of orange contrasted with jet-black hues. It’s a kid, Chad realizes as he gets closer, lunging forward with both arms to grab him.
The boy lands with an ‘oof!’
“Oh. Hi, Uncle Chad!” he greets, unfazed by the fact that he’d fallen out of the sky.
Chad and Uryuu exchange a troubled glance.
“Say, Sado-kun,” Uryu mutters under his breath.
“Hmm.”
“Doesn’t this child look a lot like Kurosaki and Inoue-san?”
“Hmm.”
“You don’t think…?”
“Probably.”
________
The boy can’t look more like Ichigo and Orihime if he tries. Kazui, that is. He has an endearing mop of orange hair that falls into his eyes—eyes that are distinctively Orihime’s, bright, curious and full of awe. He had—or so Uryuu and Chad had gleaned from a meandering conversation with him—been trying some new tricks with his flash-step and accidentally created a tear in the space-time continuum that sent him to the past.
As one does.
“So you’re from the future,” Chad concludes, glancing up at the little boy that is currently riding his shoulders happily.
“Yep!” He cranes his head around left and right. “Where are Mom and Dad?”
Uryu smirks. It’s of no surprise to him that Kurosaki and Inoue are married in the distant future. They’re obvious, even when they aren’t trying to be. Uryuu’s spent enough evenings with his friends to read an entire undercurrent of language in their behavior—the way they dance around their feelings like everyone else around them are idiots.
Or at least, that’s what Uryuu comprehends. What he sees is usually a tender glance, a fleeting touch, pointed moments where they withdraw after having revealed too much of themselves to each other. When he looks at Chad, his friend is smiling wistfully. Uryuu shares the sentiment; he just wishes he could be a fly on the wall when present-Kurosaki finds out about his son though.
“...I suppose we should take you to see them,” Uryuu says eventually. They’re standing in front of Karakura High’s gated entrance, though neither Uryuu nor Chad have any idea how to explain the kid. While his shinigami form should keep him hidden from most students, even their least spiritually sensitive friends like Tatsuki, Keigo or Mizuiro would be able to see him. And ask questions. And while Uryuu would love to watch Ichigo and Orihime squirm under their friends’ scrutiny, it would be too much chaos for them to handle.
Plus, there’s the added question of how they’re going to send Kazui back to the future.
“I’ll bring them here,” Chad says, setting Kazui down on the sill. “You wait with him.”
“Wait, Sado-kun—” Uryu begins, but Chad has already joined the throng of students heading inside. He wants to curse. He isn’t the best around children.
Kazui, however, looks rather relaxed, his legs kicking up and down from where he’s sitting on the gate’s surface. It seems, from his demeanor, that accidentally traveling to the future is no big deal for him, which, in a weird, roundabout way, makes sense. Uryu knows his parents, after all.
“Are you okay, Uncle Uryu?” Kazui asks, fixing his big eyes on Uryu.
Uryu struggles not to squirm. “I-I’m fine.”
“Are you sure?”
“Yes.”
They stare at each other. Uryu looks away but keeps a part of his gaze stuck on Kazui out of the corner of his eye, studying him. The boy is in typical shinigami garb, and the hilt of his sword is similar to Ichigo’s, but Uryu doubts his skills have advanced beyond the basics. If his reaitsu is anything like his father’s, it’s highly unlikely he’ll be safe here.
Uryu tuts impatiently, but his irritation ebbs when he realizes that Chad and Ichigo are approaching. Ichigo looks annoyed at having been summoned out of class.
“...don’t understand why you won’t tell me what’s going on,” Uryu hears him say as they near. Ichigo takes one glance at Kazui. “Who’s this?”
Uryu and Chad sigh.
“Hi Dad!” Kazui beams.
Ichigo frowns. “What’s this?” he asks Uryu, which instantly pisses Uryu off.
“Why are you looking at me as if I have something to do with this?” Uryu demands. “Acknowledge your child!”
“Uryu…” Chad tries to butt in.
“What do you mean ‘acknowledge your child?” Ichigo imitates Uryu, accentuating his words with exaggerated bunny-quotes. “What does that even mean?”
“Ichigo…” Chad tries again.
Ichigo looks at him. “What?!”
Uryu ignores Ichigo’s outburst and asks Chad, “Where is Inoue-san?”
“Couldn’t find her. Probably with the Health Club,” Chad says, a little regretful, though it’s uncertain how much better she would have handled this.
“Hey! Can you guys stop ignoring me already?” Ichigo asks pointedly.
Neither Chad nor Uryuu come up with a response in time, so Ichigo narrows his brows at Kazui, who taps his chin and says, “Maybe I should introduce myself! My name is Kurosaki Kazui, I go to Mashiba Elementary School, my favorite hobbies are ping-pong and karaoke, and my parents are Ichigo and Orihime Kurosaki!” He beats one fist against his chest. “I’m from the future; nice to meet you!”
Ichigo stares. His eyebrow twitches. Uryuu isn’t sure what exactly must be going through his head right now, but he looks at Kazui like he’s a two-headed creature, and as someone who has plenty of…daddy issues himself, Uryu really wishes Ichigo would just get it together. Childhood trauma is not easy to heal.
“Are they really going to just keep staring at each other?” Uryu mutters under his breath to Chad, who is scratching his own head in secondhand embarrassment.
“It’s…probably going to take some time for Ichigo to process a bomb like that,” Chad admits.
They turn their gaze back to the scene. Kazui is still blinking eagerly and hopefully. Ichigo still looks like he accidentally swallowed something he shouldn’t have and is having a hard time bringing it back up. He turns concerning shades of red as he begins to process some things. Then he turns into concerning shades of purple.
Then he says, very coherently, “WHAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”

Hrmm... Revising my game and I feel like there's still sooo much writing left to do, for something that probably won't even amount to much, so.. I do want to narrow my focus more (especially given my health problems seeming to get worse/less energy the past few years), but I'm not sure how would be best to...
I currently have 5 characters as the Main ones with full planned questlines and such, with each character having 6 quests you can do for them. But I haven't really started the writing for the 5th main character. So then I was thinking, if I were going to write 6 full quests worth of content anyway... is it better to allocate that time on just doing a Complete 6 Quests for ONE single character, OR would it be better to do something like.. choose THREE side characters and do 2 quests for each of them? So that people have a wider variety to interact with and sort of sample around (of course with the idea that, once the first version of the game is released, IF people actually care about it enough to make it worth the effort, I would then add additional content to complete those 3 characters stories as well)
-
SO... If you were playing an interactive fiction sort of game centered around talking to & doing quests for a cast of characters (like there's no larger plot, more it's just about interacting with people, every character kind of has a self contained story, the focus is just learning about them and the world and exploring the area) --- Which would you rather have?
(and of course it would be stated up front which characters have only partial questlines, so people don't expect them to have full quests like the others and then get disappointed, or etc. etc.)
Basically, is it better to just focus in specifically on having one fully complete questline? Or for there to be a few stories that are not complete yet, but have more initial options available?
#I guess I just feel weird about investing too much into characters if possibly nobody will like them. so the idea of being able to sample#around a wider variety opens up the option of like 'hey even if neither of these 4 are your favorite - you have 3 other options soon too!'#or whatever. BUT I also am very anti-the trend of releasing half finished games or shit like that where people preorder and then#the game sucks on actual release and isn't fully playable or good until 5 updates later#HOWEVER.. those are giant companies with hundreds of employees and millions in funding. I feel like it's different for someone#if they're just like ''hey I am getting zero money for this and doing it entirely on my own in my free time and before I do like 50+ hours#of work on top of the 100+ hours of work that I already did - I would like maybe to at least see some proof#people are interested in this - so I'm releasing the game with like a small amount of the originally intended content removed#that I still have planned out and hope to add later and the game is still entirely done and completely functional#except for just a few quests I might add later.. sorry'' etc. etc. ??? like I think that's different. but maybe some people dont see#it that way and would still be like 'grrr.. how dare there be unfinished options..>:V" idk#And the nature of the quests is such that it's not weird to have it be partial like.. again.there's no major plot. it's not like the quests#are leading up to some dramatic thing and having them half done would make it feel like a cliffhanger. It's meant to be very casual just#chilling and doing little tasks and such. And last thing to clarify I guess - by 'side character' I don't mean taking some unimportant bac#ground character and forcing them to have quests. I mean like.. originally the game had 8 full characters and I thought that was#too much so I cut it down to 5. So I still had everything planned for all the side characters too. Id' just be like.. re-giving them#quests and focuses that were already planned from the beginning but that I got rid of.. former main characters banished to the side lol..#ANYWAY... hrmm... hard to decide... It's just so niche I think. I feel more and more like I should just get it to a 'proof#of concept' state and get it out there to interest check rather than invest in it soooo much for nothing. Because I really do not have the#tastes other people do or interact with games or have interest in things in the same way. A lot of the stuff that I love (slow. character#focused things with basicaly no action or plot where its' just about getting to explore a world and learn about#people in a casual low stakes setting but ALSO not romance) I think people find very boring so... lol...#This year as I try to pick the project back up again after abandoning it for like 3 years I keep looking at stuff and going.. ough...#yeah... cut this maybe.. I should cut that too.. I should make them a side character.. remove this.. blah blah..#Though I did ADD a journal and inventory system and other things that like People Expect Games To Have so.. maybe#that will count for something.. hey..you can collect items.. it's not just 'talking to elves for 600 hours simulator'.. are you#entertained yet? lol.... When I was making my other tiny game for that pet website and I gave it to the play testers and someone was like#''it should have achievements so I feel I'm working towards something concrete'' I was literally so blindsided like..??... people WANT that#in games..? is the goal not simply to wander aimlessly &fixate on world/character lore& make your own silly pointless personal goals? I did#do them though because it IS fun to make up little achievement names and such but.. i fear i am out of touch so bad lol..

watched the musical demon show (don't wanna name it so this post isn't in the tags) at the behest of an IRL friend and i can already tell this is going to be a piece of media where i absolutely cannot stop thinking about it, not because i really love the show as-is, but because it has so many individual components i really like and find incredibly fun or compelling, and i'm so frustrated that it doesn't come together for me
i think the main thing i can say about it as a show, setting aside some of the insensitive choices that were made that i really don't feel qualified to tackle or talk about, is that the entire thing sort of gives off this vibe of someone really excited to show you every single oc they made in high school and college and i very genuinely mean that in both the best and worst ways possible
there are some good hooks for season two though so i will absolutely give them that
#the vibe is just like... they are just soooo excited to get all their ideas out that it becomes... messy and badly paced#like there are so many moments that are cool or fun or emotional in a vaccuum but they don't connect fully y'know#because this arc or character was JUST introduced so there isn't proper build up. everything moves too quick#and it's frustrating because you can TELL that the people making this show love their ideas and characters#and i more than get thta! i am also someone with a lotta ocs i love to blab about#but i think they have been working with them so long that they#a. assume we are already just as attached to them as they are without always doing that work#b. assume we've seen all the supplemental material which. i have not#and i don't think that a professional show is the type of thing where there should be a barrier of entry that involves like#podcasts and comics and twitter threads and IC instagram posts about characters to do that emotional/lore legwork y'know#i love lore and supplemental stuff obviously but this should still be like#a satisfying experience for me a person who saw the pilot however many years ago and then has not interacted with the show or fandom since#idk man stuff felt rushed and messy and i wish i liked it more#it needed more slow moments i think. the two scenes where the group all drinks together (minus one awful joke in the bar scene) are like#the best in the show to me becase i actually believe these guys are FRIENDS. i wanna see them hang out more!#i wanna see them actually really grow to like each other organically!!! i wanna see them build connections and grow better slowly!!!#songs absolutely slap though. soundtrack is probably gonna be in my spotify unwrapped 2024#i love me a musical and that inspiration is on its sleeve which i love#also imo the humor isn't great usually. it's very juvenile imo and sometime that works but it often doesn't#(for me at least humor is obviously SUPER subjective)#also tonally they have this 'have your cake and eat it too' issue which bugs me. it's exemplified by the v's (one in particular)#actually i could go on a whole rant about the v's if anyone is interested because god i have some Thoughts#and i think my issues with the v's (namely one v) encapsulates many issues i have with the show#despite all this rambling i actually did enjoy a lot of my time with it. i just don't think it was well-written if that makes sense

Space station gardens, neon green & blue, roots taking place, the smell of damp earth, bright unflickering lights, starfighters, healing bruises, hands against cold metal, sea water, warm sunshine, home in the valley of someone else’s ribs.

de selby (part 1), hozier
glossover, afternoon bike ride / lowswimmer
strangers, ethel cain
austra andante (23 - she/her) | 🌊
repeat until death, novo amor

the end of love, florence + the machine
there’s nothing left for you, mitski
excerpt:
To know something is to be in constant battle with it: the plaguing of a garden, trying to disinfect a never-healing wound. Being near Austra, hands dripping with blood that never belonged to either of their bodies, means Nalkita has to fight against her own humanity, fight against desire. Close up her throat so the words I wish you would, Lieutenant don’t come out, raw and real. Kit understands so little about herself and knows Austra so much — the feeling of her expressive eyebrows against a fingertip, the weight of every responsibility she carries. Who is she to add another sandbag to Austra’s already aching shoulders but a soldier, a sinning one, at that? Refusing to give up on something that was never hers to begin with.
rambles / more about the series under the cut! :D
this was born from a fanfic/short story i wrote 2 years ago when i wasn’t ready to face what came after the events of what is now book 1 of the birthplace series. i took inspiration from novo amor’s birthplace album, which re-enlightened me about the meaning of “home”. i still hold it extremely close to my heart and will forever.
for book 1 of this, “astro-garden”, the journey kit goes on is extremely personal, quite lonely, quite difficult. titles never meant something to her until austra got one. there’s not much i can say except kit is a firecracker of a person and she’s going to need a lot of luck (she’s strong, she’ll manage)!
book 2 “roots in infertile soil” is as chaotic as i can possibly make a book. there’s more pining (for reasons...), more action, more drama... the characters are all a joy to write and flesh out, and the mercury ii crew are the type of found family that i’ve always loved to read about <3 i’ll introduce each and every one of them with tags in the near future so stay tuned for that!!! :)
book 3 is still in its early earlyyy development stages but hopefully i’ll have something cool to say about it sooner rather than later !
feel free to ask me about anything birthplace-related seeing as this is the only project i am currently (actively) working on!!! i would love love loooove to chat more about secondary characters, locations (the spaceships are Alive), discuss the plot / themes more in depth, etc!
i will be making a taglist with everyone who wants to get updates from this (i'll post more abt that later!) so send me an ask if you’d like to join it :D !
thank you for reading this (kinda long?) intro post for my silly little still unwritten novels hehe! i hope to hear more from u soon
