adelaide (her hc real name for those who are new here) went through an entire metamorphosis from her time in the real world, to first entering the constant, to when she actually became wigfrid as we know her today. however, just because they're 'different people' doesn't mean that you can't see flickers of one in the other, or vice versa.

where there are some people (her audience, mainly) who adelaide would bend to the whims of almost immediately, beyond that she had a surprisingly strong spine. it took a lot of effort and will to claw her way to the position she had, and she did all of that on her own. it stands to reason you'd learn to stand your ground on most things (again, audience) after long enough of that.

however, um. the thing abt adelaide is that. she hates herself. and wigfrid loves herself. which makes it pretty difficult to share a lot of qualities with adelaide, when remembering adelaide too deeply makes you loose your damn mind. it's why wigfrid needs to keep the persona up. really, it's far thinner than most of the survivors would expect it to be… beyond having a better survival instinct and speaking without the accent, wigfrid reverting back to her old self wouldn't really change her by an astronomical amount.

If she were forced to go back to the real world… forced to be adelaide again. i think all of it would feel like a fever dream. i don't think she would really know how to be adelaide anymore- how to be anyone other than the persona she spent so long crafting. she's spent far too long conforming to a script to go off-book now. i think it would turn her into a paranoid recluse honestly

the sun snuck through the curtains in your bedroom, gently shining in your face. you huffed tiredly as you woke to the feeling of someone pressing firm kisses across your skin. against your bare shoulders, against your collarbones, trailing up your throat before pressing sugary sweet kisses to both your cheeks.

you tiredly giggle, a smile stretching across your lips as you crack your eyes open to find Cooper hovering above you. "good morning doll," he smiles, leaning down to press a slow and gentle kiss against your lips.

you smile and hum into the kiss, "mm, g'morning honey," your arms tiredly looping around his shoulders as you fully pull him down against you. you revel in the warmth of his right hand that's resting on your naked hip. a content hum leaving your lips as you melt against his.

he pulls away after a minute, eyes almost twinkling — you knew he was up to something. he sits up, pulling you into his lap as he does so. "the world wouldn't be this bright without you, you know?" he nudges your nose with his.

you drape your arms behind his neck, nuzzling your nose against his. "Coop..." you trail of tiredly, a yawn slipping out before you could ask what he's up to.

he grins — he knows you know he's got something. he briefly takes one hand off your hip, leaning back a little to grab something behind him. when he moves back, he's setting a tray beside the two of you — and it takes you a second, but you spot all your favourite breakfast foods on the tray. 

you look back at him, brows furrowed as you don't know what to say. "you didn't have to do anything Cooper.." you trail off, dropping your head into the crook of his neck, breathing in his scent.

Cooper just grins — shaking his head as he wraps both arms around your waist, holding you tightly. "i'd do anything for my lovely and caring wife, you know that darlin'." you could even hear the smile in his voice.

you shake your head, wrapping your arms around his waist. "but you still didn't have to do anything.." you mumble against the crook of his neck. 

he place a kiss into your hair, slowly and gently rocking you two back and forth. "i wanted to honey, you deserve it." he speaks quietly. "you deserve it." 

you lift your head up, eyes finding his still on you. "thank you," you whisper with a warm, tired smile. you press a gentle kiss to his lips, savouring the feeling. 

he sighs into the kiss, one hand coming up to cup your face. he pulls away ever so slightly, lips brushing against yours with each breath or movement. 

"happy birthday darlin'," he whispers against your lips, before you press yours against them, pulling him down with you as you lean back — your back hitting the soft mattress as his lips swallow your sighs of happiness.

BEFORE IT WAS IN THE CRISP AUTUMN ATMOSPHERE, mark lee had met you at the local police station. it was only a few months prior, august of 2004 brought the prospect of donghyuck doing everything to try and get arrested, prospects that mark could only respond with under the breath swears. he loves donghyuck, he really does, but driving shouldn't have been his first choice. in all of the friendships mark has had with other people in his life, donghyuck has always brought a wave of chaos along with him, the exact opposite of who mark's mom would advise him to stay away from, but she'd always had a soft spot for him, mark can't exactly blame her.

fresh off turning seventeen and utterly clueless as to what the future would bring, mark only found himself at the police station for one reason. donghyuck had driven without a license. yep, sixteen years old and he assumed doing an illegal u-turn was the way to end his summer.

mark has always been a stand up kid. the kind who handed out his mom's cookies to the neighbors. the kind who called for stray cats in alleyways. the kind who was simply an innocent bystander to all the bullshit his friends would pull.

mark let out a breathy (and clearly faked) chuckle, trying to bury his anxiety. he could never explain it, even if you gave him all the words to, it's not like he's a bad kid, he just finds himself tensing often. "no, just friends.."

"it's good to have someone so close as support" he narrowed his eyes at donghyuck, who stifled his scoff at the clear sarcasm lacing his tone. he then scrunched his nose, watching as donghyuck placed a performative smile on his lips. "now you, sir, we need to have a talk".

donghyuck frowned, whining out complaints as he's dragged away by the sheriff. "can you wait, mark?"

mark blinked, shoving his hands into his pant pockets. he nodded, out of words. the two bantered back and forth like friends, something mark could only stare idly at. he made his way over to the seats beside the door, where, nestled in the corner of one of them, was you.

you were scribbling something into your notebook, unaware of the eyes on you. mark sat two chairs away from you, tapping his feet onto the floor as he heard the faint sounds of scoldings. safe driving, don't get into a car without a license, your future won't be any better if you continue this shit.

swearing at a child, mark found that rich. he glances beside him again, now watching you intently. you were engrossed in the manner your pen scratched against your paper, mark had figured out through endless staring that you hadn't been writing, but drawing.

you avoided his eyes for a while, ignorant to the eyes gazing you up and down. you then glanced in mark's direction, almost startling him out of his seat with the sudden stare. you blinked, puzzled out of your mind. "is there something on my face?"

mark tensed in his seat, feeling his stomach swirl, was he staring so much that you felt offended? he felt guilty immediately, his lips parting immediately and releasing a silent breath. "no.. no i'm sorry, i didn't mean to".

you shrugged your shoulders, one click to your pen. mark recognized you, but he simply couldn't conjure up an explanation as to why you were sitting in a police station at this time, drawing whatever into your notebook. "so why are you staring then?"

"i'm trying to figure out why you're here" mark muttered, fingers fiddling with his necklace as he tried to get his tone straight in fear of again offending you. "i'm sure you aren't committing crimes".

"i can say the same for you, mr golden boy".

mark's lips turned up slightly, his hands twitching from where they rested on his lips. "i got kicked out.. always come here to let dad and mom cool off for a few hours".

the words earned an eyebrow raise from mark, that was strange to hear, especially from another person in regards to their own parents. mark had never really experienced such a thing, the way you described it made his nose scrunch. "what?"

before you could respond to that one, a police officer entered the room, one you seemed to recognize by the way your eyes lit up. "come on l/n, time to go".

a frown settled onto your lips. "do i really have to go now? you know how my parents are.."

"i can't keep you here, it would technically be illegal".

"it's not like they'll care anyway.." you mumbled, slamming your notebook shut with yet another click to your pen. "just an hour longer, please?"

there was a sense of hope in your eyes, maybe he would actually take your words into account. mark simply stared, staggered by what he was witnessing. the officer watched the change of your expressions, your thumb playing at the button on your pen, continuously clicking over and over. as the clicks amplified, so did the sound of your labored breathing.

"you know i can't do that kid".

your frown deepened, teeth sinking into your bottom lip. worry, that's what mark remembered. your eyes widened, but not in the usual shock, simply in disappointment. you cursed under your breath, muttering something about your parents getting pissed at your reappearance. you stopped clicking your pen, letting the chagrin settle onto you. "yeah.."

you sucked your teeth, imitating the look of a sulky child. mark was consumed by his silence, completely confused by the situation. he didn't give a comment, simply watched the whole entire thing happen. "i'll give you a few minutes, don't worry".

you didn't respond to that one, your eyes following the police officer who strolled out the door towards his car. you bit into your lip again, hands grasping onto your notebook and thumb still pressing onto your pen. "what bullshit".

mark continued staring, his hands clutching at his thighs. you then glanced at him once more, causing for him to flinch back. you stayed silent, watching him as much as he did you a few minutes prior.

"are you alright?" he muttered, leaving his voice at a low volume. he didn't want to raise it, he wanted to keep it at a volume that kept you comfortable.

you snickered, clicking your tongue against the roof of your mouth. "fine, going home is just my worst nightmare".

mark's fingers found themselves sliding across his legs, teeth sliding against each other in back and forth motions. he blinked his big brown eyes, staring with an assured gaze he hoped would somehow make it's way to you. "i'm sorry".

he whispered those two words as if he was in physical pain, eyes watering for an inexplainable moment. he couldn't help it, and he had no idea why he couldn't help it. it was embarrassing how much he felt at the moment.

you stared back, lips pursuing. your expressions did at least seventy transformations, as if you were in disbelief at someone having empathy for you. you seemed distraught, why is he tearing up? that's so strange.

you chuckled, hoping it would quell his worries. "it's okay, not like it's your fault".

"still, you shouldn't have to feel that way about going home.. your parents shouldn't be kicking you out".

you grimaced, put off by the words. it isn't as if they were terrible, you just seemed.. astonished. why did he care? it was simply weird to you.

"well thank you for your concern but i'll be fine".

mark blinked away the tears threatening to escape his eyes, god what was wrong with him? why did he even tear up at that? he totally weirded you out.

"yeah um.. i'm sorry" mark bit into his inner cheek, letting out a heavy sigh. "just have a good day" a theatric smile placed itself on his lips, he was definitely trying to convince himself that it wasn't that bad of a situation.

you stared longer, seemingly itching to say something. there were words resting on the tip of your tongue, mark could practically sense it. "yeah, you too".

and when you stood up to walk out of the door, donghyuck coincidentally escaped the clutches of the sheriff, stumbling out of his office with his arms crossed over his chest. the door closed behind you, and mark watched the entire time.

"what took you so long?" mark uttered, eyes casting donghyuck's way.

the younger huffed in his usual donghyuck manner, hands on his hips. "he was giving me a big talk about safe driving" he placed heavy air quotes around the last two words, lips curled into a frown.

mark licked his teeth, his thoughts retracing back to you. "do you know him..?"

donghyuck blinked, his mouth opening to ask about who until he saw the way mark motioned his head. "y/n? oh yeah, he's around here all the time, the officers basically take him in whenever.."

"why?"

his voice scratched like sandpaper, donghyuck wincing at the tone. he then shrugged his shoulders, his attitude puzzled. "something about his parents not really caring, it's pretty shitty".

mark's lips parted in a freezing motion, his stomach pain only worsening. "that's scary.. feeling safer at the police station than your own home".

"i don't know much about his situation, just know his parents have a terrible temper".

mark swallowed the lump in his throat, his head beginning to pound at the information given. he tried to distract himself by thinking about school coming up soon, but he was snapped back into reality by donghyuck.

"why are you even asking me about y/n?"

mark glanced up at his childhood friend, a small whisper in his mind telling him to lie. "just curious that's all".

the lie laid bitter on his tongue, but he didn't allow for donghyuck to dwell on it, rising from the chair he's practically glued himself to. "promise me you'll never illegally drive again, the officers here look like they wanna kill me".

donghyuck rolled his eyes, tease evident in his attitude. "okay markie, promise".

mark pushed his shoulder in retaliation.

that? that was two months ago.

before the crisp autumn weather drifted through the atmosphere, before the leaves began falling to decorate the ground in orange and brown hues, mark lee had met you at the local police station. your legs crossed, pen clicking, and nose buried into your notebook.

september came and went rather quickly, the scorching heat of the summer air transforming into the russet autumn scenery which drifts into october. the temperature steadily dropping, sweaters becoming more and more common in his closet, mark can't exactly focus in class during the first few months of school.

when mark hears his name fall from his teacher's lips in pair with yours, he snaps out of an episode of disassociation, blinking up. "what?"

his teacher deadpanned, readjusting her glasses. she doesn't even seem surprised by his lack of focus anymore, his exhaustion is constantly evident. "project partners mark, you'll be paired with y/n".

mark only parts his lips in response, the words rendering him speechless. he glances around the classroom as he listens to the older woman's voice blurs into the background, catching sight of you in the far back, again scribbling into your notebook, your manner reminiscent of how you acted the first time you two met.

he stares for a while before again looking forward, his mouth going dry as he tries again to focus, but of course, he can't. his mind stays focused on you throughout the whole class, even after the endless words he lets blur away.

you spin your pen between your fingers, it's the same pen you had that day, maybe you have some sort of attachment to it or something, maybe it's your favorite pen, maybe someone special gifted that pen to you.

maybe mark's letting it all get to his head, why is he even making assumptions when he hasn't walked up to you yet?

while everyone else rushes to leave the class, mark rises from his seat and again glances over at you, slinging his back over his shoulder.

you're riveted by what you're doing in your notebook, so absorbed that you barely hear the shuffling footsteps making their way around the many desks towards yours. your lips turn down as you smudge the ink on the page, a small suck of the teeth adding to your frustration.

"um.. hi" mark whispers, watching as you glance up and pause, one click to your pen. you don't respond immediately, studying mark for a while, and mark tenses up under your gaze, sucking a breath between his teeth.

"hi".

"we uh— were partners for the project".

your smile is neutral. "i know".

mark began biting the skin off his lips, hands gripping at his backpack. "i don't know where you want to start, uh.. maybe we could go to the library?"

he's just saying what he's hoping will work. he doesn't exactly know you yet, he assumes your one off interaction at the police station left a sour taste in your mouth.

but unbeknownst to mark's anxious inner voice, you smile, not exactly a neutral one this time, a much better smile ('better' in terms of expression, your lips stretch into an aspect of satisfaction).

"that'd be nice".

mark nods, almost too enthusiastically he thinks. how embarrassing. you let out a silent yawn, oblivious to the battle mark is having in his head. "tomorrow maybe we can start?"

your smile again becomes neutral, but at least mark doesn't think you want to kill him. "yeah, tomorrow is fine".

tomorrow. tomorrow is fine.

"okay, have a good day y/n".

mark rushes out of the classroom much too fast, he feels a little terrified of you. maybe you don't exactly want to kill him, maybe you just look at everyone else in that way, maybe it won't be that bad to be paired with you.

still, mark isn't sure why his mind tells him he should stay away from you.

Since this has become a hot topic as of recent, in regards to the statement "support other monster collecting games that aren't pokemon"...

pLEASE!!please!!! PLAY YO-KAI WATCH!!! I am BEGGING YOU PLAY YOKAI WATCH!! ITS SO GOOD.

It's like if you took a monster collector, but instead of little monsters you have foreign ghosts with their own afterlives, unique backstories, and personalities! I loathe when people accuse it of being just a poke-clone because it's so much more than that!

Pros include many hours of laughs, playtime, variety in characters and content. Like seriously if ya'll thought things like Pokemon BW and their sequels had a lot of content worth going back to, the 3rd game in the installment should you choose to go the completionist route is 300+ hours. I'm *still* trying to complete it. Also if fever dream, random, cheesy type humor is your taste you'll like this series. It's one of my favorite comfort games that makes my autism go 😊 while I do enjoy the English dub I recommend the sub, not only is it easier to find but a lot of the humor is swept under the rug and a looot of episodes weren't dubbed because of difficulty translating more mature jokes. The anime's humor can be very bipolar. Which leads me to my next point!

Cons include: very bipolar sense of humor. This is mostly in reference to the anime. It gets more riske the more the show progresses, but its also victim to some hella childish humor. Especially early on. Its not a stranger to potty humor. If it gets to crude or tiring I just skip the episode lmao. a lot of it is lost media and it is SO hard to find the anime episodes as well as physical games, especially the English translations. Because this series flopped so hard initially in the Americas a lot of the English stuff has been lost, and those that are found are... spensive... I was lucky enough to have gotten a physical cart of Yokai Watch 3 before it shot up in price. It's easily my most expensive game of... the last I checked... 600 dollars..... oh also if you don't like pikaclones too bad there's duplicate Yokai out the rear. And the fandom rn is incredibly miniscule. If you're a completionest this series might be a nightmare for you because of how obscenely hard some of the things are to collect. I hope you're blessed by RNGesus

#5: The Eager (1.01)

I love how this second dream arrives right after Rick is welcomed into the CRM. No matter how involved in the CRM he has to be, he can always find Michonne in his mind to anchor him back to what matters most. And these dreams are like we also get to retreat with Rick to a familiar face. Our and Rick’s favorite familar face too🥰...

So after trying out his weaponized arm - which I also find his prosthetic symbolic because it’s almost like now Rick has been made into a weapon and we’ll watch him go on a journey of returning to be a person again throughout the miniseries - the scene fades to black and we hear some peaceful ambiance and then Michonne’s voice gently say, “I thought you were late.”

I love her calming voice in these dreams. They both have these heartwarming soft laughs as Rick dons a big smile and says a carefree and confident, “Yep. I am.” 😋

Rick knows chatting up this beauty on the bench is more important than employment. And...

It's sweet that he doesn’t care about work or being late anymore. Michonne, as always, has his sole focus and he just looks so genuinely content to be in this moment with her. He’s basking in her presence. 😇

And after so little smiling moments in his real life with the CRM, it’s nice to see Rick smile so freely in his dream and of course, it’s all because of his beautiful Michonne being by his side. I like too how they both have these little breathy laughs that feel like they know exactly why they’re lingering in each other's space right now.

There’s also something to be said about being late vs. lost. Rick knows he’s late to his job, in irl he’s 'late' getting home, and even in a more immediate sense, it seems he’s late to that arena meeting with Okafor and Pearl coming up. But it doesn’t matter because right now for just a brief moment he has her, so regardless of being late he’s at least no longer lost. Again, Michonne is his destination.

As Rick and Michonne fell for each other in TWD it also reshaped their end goal in this apocalypse. It was no longer just to survive and help others survive. That of course is still a major part of their calling, but in falling in love part of their goal and purpose became more personal - aiming to build a life together and enjoy each other to the fullest. And so here in this dream, we see how Rick’s goal reshapes as well. He just wants to enjoy her no matter what else is going on. 

However, in the dream, Michonne can’t stay leisurely sitting with Rick for long as she smiles and says, “Uh well I can’t be.”

For me, there’s something so sweet about this scene but also sad because Michonne can’t stay, It’s almost like it's depicting how the real Michonne has to stay in their world keeping things afloat for their kids and community. She can’t be late for her duties.

Michonne stands up to leave but then she turns around to offer, “But I do eat here every day.” Def wanting to indicate to him that she’d be happy to see him again. 😊

Rick gives a little confident smile and asks, “Around this time?” because he knows she wants to see him again too. Just like he very much wants to see her. 😊

Michonne is tickled by the question as she says, “You’re pretty eager aren’t you?” It’s cute how she doesn’t tiptoe around Rick’s obvious attraction to her lol. And she has a spot-on assessment of that man Rick because he's always eager about Michonne. 😇

And then I absolutely love the way Rick shrugs and keeps the confidence going when he responds, “Maybe you are too.” 😊 Lol, I love it.

One thing Rick’s psyche knows is that he and Michonne are very eager for each other. #hungry. I like how he doesn't deny being eager to see her again while also addressing that what they're feeling rn is clearly mutual. And this feels reminiscent of all the little flirting moments they had both pre and post-canon.

And Rick is correct in assessing that Michonne is also eager because she was definitely bit by the love bug like Rick in these dreams and I love that he doesn’t tiptoe around it either.

It’s funny too cuz Richonne's TWD journey was a slow burn but in Rick's dreams, he’s like nah now we’re gonna move as quick as we low-key always wanted to move in real life lol.

I just love that he’s dreaming about flirting with Michonne like this and he clearly feels like she was someone he had to chase a little bit when she all seductively says, “Oh…I’m not” before shining her million-dollar smile and turning to walk away. 😊

When she said "Oh, I'm not" I was like - now Ms. Purple, do you know that we can see you? Because the eagerness was for sure mutual. 😋

It’s interesting that Rick's mind dreams up Michonne flirtily saying she’s not eager. It could be just because Rick remembers Michonne as being a bit more discreet than him when it came to falling in love with each other. Or maybe it’s more a present nod to how after years apart, Rick deep down knows the real Michonne has likely had to grow less and less eager about the possibility of ever being with him again. 

When Michonne turns to leave, Rick watches her and yells out, “Can I at least…” I’m assuming he was about to ask for her name or number but we’ll never know because the dream is abruptly interrupted by a knock on real Rick’s door as he’s sadly plucked back into reality. 😞

But I just love that Rick was in full pursuit mode in these dreams and was craving to know more about this mysterious stunning woman who had stolen his heart before she left. Like he was so locked into her and did not want to let her go in these dreams. And I love it because the real Rick is the same way. That thing Rick told Michonne in their very first conversation in season 3 still holds true - “Can’t let you leave.” 

It really was a great choice to have Rick dream about falling in love with Michonne because those two were constantly falling deeper in love on TWD. Like after each time jump in the main show I noticed I was never just like 'oh good, Rick and Michonne are still in love,' I was like 'oh wow, Rick and Michonne are more in love than before.' 🥰

And the dreams also show that Rick loved/loves pursuing her and replays that because really it’s the biggest win in the world that he wanted Michonne and got her considering she’s the greatest woman on the planet. 💁🏽‍♀️

It’s also so sweet that while in reality he already knows Michonne inside and out, in his dreams Rick is just so elated to rediscover her and learn/earn her again and again before having to endure another day with the CRM.

So then Rick startles awake and tiredly says, “Coming” and when the loud knocking on his door continues he says a more frustrated, “Coming” as Okafor says, “Come on Rick, class is in session.” I love Rick's sleepy voice and also it’s kinda cute cuz this implies that Rick knew he had somewhere to be but wanted to take a little nap and be with Michonne first before this meeting with Okafor and Pearl. Again, that dream time with her is his absolute favorite part of life. 

Also him in that black fit - another towl blessing ijs. 😇

Rick walks with Pearl and Okafor to a dark arena where he takes out a walker in their path. Okafor grabs the dog tag off the corpse and has a very even-keeled reaction to affirming it was a soldier, likely a soldier he killed in the arena bombing. It just goes to show that Okafor has a certain level of detachment from what he’s had to do because he believes it was all for the greater good.

That seems to be a thing with people who buy into the CRM, you have to eliminate anything personal about you and just emotionlessly be a part of some larger purpose. 

Okafor finally lets Rick and Pearl in on his plan to help the two become higher-ups in the CRM so they can improve it from the inside. Rick reminds Okafor he tried to escape four times and that’s the Rick I know. Of course, he’d been trying over and over to get home.

Okafor explains the whole A and B thing and how Rick and Pearl are A’s, meaning strong leaders with a mind of their own. (Even tho I think there's one sneak among these three As 🧐)

Rick and Pearl learn they weren’t killed like other As because Okafor looked out for them since he needed them to help change the CRM. And it’s interesting he hands Rick the Art of Peace book that Morgan studied with the cheesemaker. It’s like Okafor is going to be to Rick what Eastman was to Morgan, slowly trying to convince Rick to adopt his philosophy.

I like the line “Being a monster to fight the monsters, that can’t last.” It feels like it speaks to a major theme within this TWD franchise regarding who you think you have to become to survive.

Okafor says they’ll get the echelon briefing and the way Rick reacts you can tell he just does not give a damn about moving up the ranks. He’s pissed enough that he’s had to assimilate into the CRM at all when he just wants to go home and now they’re talking about him being brought further into this system. He’s over it.

It’s also really interesting to see Rick in ep 1 so disinterested in all this CRM stuff and Okafor’s mission and then when Michonne finds him a year later he’s clearly had a lot more time to be programmed. And I don't mean he gets programmed into believing the CRM’s values, but more believing that they are an impossible force to escape from and therefore all that can be done is to use your life to make the CRM better.

Rather than want to know more about Okafor’s plan, Rick instead wants to know about how under the table this whole arena meeting is. He asks if the CRM wants him and Pearl to be leaders and if the higher-ups even know about this meeting tonight and the insider info Okafor is spilling.

Okafor says the CRM doesn’t know and that he believes As in power is the only thing that can change things. Again Rick doesn’t care about all that, so instead he says, “So if we share with the higher-ups that you’re saying these things…”

It’s interesting that Rick is taking an approach of almost wanting Okafor to worry he’ll expose him. I don’t think Rick is actually considering sharing about this with the higher ups but I think he also wants Okafor to know he’s not sold on trusting this whole situation.

Then Pearl cuts Rick off to let him know that she and him are not a “we” so he has to speak for himself.

Rick adjusts the statement and because he’s actually an A he looks over at Pearl (a B with a poker face, imo) and says, “If I’m an A - If I think for myself…” then he turns to Okafor to finish with, “Why do you think I’m gonna go along with this?”

Something is interesting about seeing Rick as just a member of an army when he had led whole communities for so long in TWD. But as Rick challenges Okafor in this arena, we see that signature leader Rick. He’s not just some guy to puppeteer for others' missions, good or bad. He’s an opinionated leader in his own right. 

Okafor answers that he believes if Rick or Pearl had a chance to save the world they would. “You’d have to.” Rick looks like he’s rolling that thought around in his head and thinking, “I would really only want to save the world if it’s with my wife, otherwise pass.”

The meeting continues as Rick's voiceover again gives his wife the details about how Okafor wanted his help to change things. Rick says “I’d play along. But it wasn’t my fight.”

Rick can be very hyper-focused on his missions and Okafor’s mission couldn’t become his fight yet because at this point his fight was still solely about getting back to Michonne and Judith. His sole goal is still to get back to the two ladies who were taken from him. And I appreciate that he always wants Michonne to be assured of that in these letters he writes.

But in this next moment, Rick gets a heartrending perspective shift on who's really the one that’s been gone. 😢👌🏽
