you pocket your phone with a sigh, ignoring the way it continually buzzes with with messages and spam texts, probably just of atsumu professing his undying love for you and grovelling. pretty standard of him after an argument so intense that you had to walk out on before things escalated to places you would regret.

you can't deny that you miss him too, and it's been less than 24 hours since you saw him last.

in fact, you literally saw him this morning when sending him off to practice with a grumbled 'have a good practice' after he kissed over your forehead with a lightness rivalling a feather. a gentleness typically unseen from him.

really, the blond setter was just terrified of irritating you further.

then when you got up half an hour later, you're not pleased to see how atsumu was spamming you with messages, all conveying the messages he was scared of saying earlier. things like 'i love you', 'can't wait to go home to you', or 'did you see the photo of osamu's cat i sent'.

it's sweet, really; he is, but when you're still a little hurt from the harsh exchange you had last night, you didn't want him blowing up your phone this early in the morning.

so your only solution for a peaceful morning was to block him apparently.

something that clearly did not sit well with him because he then started spamming your socials and your emails with protests. did he not have practice to get to? where was all this time coming from?

you blocked him on those platforms too from the goodness of your heart because you had a feeling that he was skipping warmup in order to text you. if he pulled a muscle during practice, you don't want to begin imagining what a pain he'd be to look after.

glancing around the park you were currently strolling through to clear your mind, you only get a second to breathe when your phone starts buzzing again. this time, with a call notification from bokuto.

picking up, you immediately assume that it's atsumu who is bothering you after suffering the blows of how hard you've been ghosting him.

"atsumu for the love of-"

you're cut off of your own sentence when you hear somewhat muffled voices in the background.

"damn you messed up big time!" comes hinata's bubbly voice. you can indistinctly hear someone agreeing in the background- bokuto?

"stop rubbing it in!" atsumu exclaims, whining. you can picture him in your head right now, slouching against the wall as he deflates with each reminder of his mistake.

bokuto must have pocket-dialed you. you're about to hang up until you hear:

"how about you stop being miserable? your relationship with y/n will be fine as long as you apologise, this isn't the end of the world," lectures sakusa.

"for you maybe! ah already feel like y/n's slipping away from my grasp," cries your boyfriend. "and y/n is my world. so really, it does feel like the end of the world."

"you know what they say. love kills," mutters bokuto.

"literally no one has ever said that," sakusa deadpans.

"someone's probably said it."

"well if love does kill can it hurry up with atsumu?"

the dark-haired's simple statement makes you laugh, one that bursts suddenly before you have to cover your mouth from shame, hoping that it didn't disturb anyone.

"hey!" atsumu huffs before you can hear him groan dramatically again. except something's telling you that this isn't for show. "can't ya show a little sympathy to the guy who is having the worst time of his life? my partner doesn't even want to talk to me! i might as well rot right here and now."

"don't do that!" protests bokuto. "i'm sure y/n isn't as mad as you think. just talk to-"

"-what do you think i've been doing this whole time? i've been grovelling-"

"-no, you've been a bitch. i don't think telling y/n to 'text you back' counts as a proper apology."

the setter 'hmphs' and you can imagine the way he's crossing his arms. atsumu never did lose that immature side of him, but he tries, and you adore him for it. "is proclaiming my love not enough?"

"you can say 'i love you' to everyone, idiot, and you can confess your undying adoration for y/n any time. you do it on a regular basis anyways, atsumu, you don't need to double down on it just because you had an argument-"

"-but i'm scared that y/n will forget!"

the blond's outburst stuns everyone into silence. you hear a sniffle.

"what if i'm not worth the time? sometimes i get really scared that y/n might pack up and leave me because there's someone better out there. someone more patient and less of a hassle?"

it's so painfully silent, but each word that atsumu mutters is like a knife to your heart. how long has he felt this way?

hinata is the first to break the awkwardness. "c'mon man, you're literally high school sweethearts. i don't think you have anything to worry about."

"yeah, you're being silly right now, tsum-tsum!" bokuto agrees. "after all this time together, i think y/n has a reason to stay with you!"

"stupidity is temporary. get better soon," sakusa grumbles.

you hang up the call when you hear atsumu's chirpy tone again, unable to stop a smile from appearing on your own face. so long as he was happy, you were too.

that's what happens when you're soulmates, you suppose.

it's the same soulmate bond responsible for the fact that you were currently waiting outside the gym where msby practices were held, impatiently leaning against a small pole as you pass time on your phone.

then, just as you look up to check if anyone has left the building, your heart stops at the sight of a familiar faux-blond, animatedly chatting to one of his teammates. but when he meets your gaze, it takes him less than a fraction of a second to charge towards you.

instead of bracing for impact, you open your arms for him to tackle into, an offer he takes immediately.

as you both stumble backwards from the momentum, atsumu revels in your laughter and cherishes the feeling he gets knowing that everything is okay between you two. you chose to greet him after practice, you chose to go the somewhat inconvenient route all the way to his gym, you chose him and he hopes you never consider another option again.

and you won't. atsumu loves too hard and too well, warming you from the inside out to defrost any pain the coldness of life might leave you with. although he sometimes gets insecure about this overbearing trait of his, you get to show him each time just how beautiful it is; to wear your heart on your sleeve and love the world for what it is.

Oikawa Tooru (haikyuu!!)

Oikawa... he is just yknow. My Character. But I also often in my daily life have a little Oikawa in my head reminding me that my passion is my passion because it's fun and I love it. That talent and skill are intertwined but also not static or pre-determined, that I might not be as good as I think I should be, and I might never be, but if I don't try I definitely won't. Maybe I will reach my goal today, or tomorrow, or in 30 years. And I can do it at the pace and path that suits me. He speaks of all this AS WELL as the very bitter feelings that preceeds these revelations. I also really love his focus on facilitating others, of reaching potential together, of trust and faith in his team and their in him!

2. Marcille Donato (Dungeon Meshi)

Oh Marcille. (Manga spoilers here) Marcille started out so silly and to be honest? Annoying? Girly and anxious and squemish. But then you realise that these parts are absolutely true, but she is also determined and loyal and scared and unafraid and skilled. The firly and squemish becomes charming in contrast to her being excited to experience death and morally ambigious enough to use ancient magic or become a dungeon lord. And then you learn even more about her and her family, the way she grew up and how she probably is... pretty young, considering everything. The knowledge and life experience of someone being 40 maybe, but with the brain to handle it of a 19 year old... she is so afraid for everyone to die away and yet she cant help but love people! Isn't that lovely!? And as someone very afraid to lose my parents I really really feel for her relationship with her father. I think Marcille was a character who really illustrates the progression of tone in Dungeon meshi, represents the themes of the story so well, and really grew on me. Also gay. hi.

3. Shinji Ikari (Neon Genesis Evangelion)

I know people don't like this guy but he shaped me so much as a teen. I think his journey through lacking self-esteem and depression and self hatred is both fascinating, nuanced and in the end, encouraging! Imagine being offered to join humanity all as one, never feel rejected or alone again and then DESPITE all he has gone through, chosing to be yourself after all! And frankly I love that the show lets him be cowardly and weak and unsympathetic, it makes him more real and make his strong moments stronger. Also gay. hi

4. Mob (Mob psycho 100)

Mobs story is more low key, but I also enjoy a story about a young boy who FIRST has to find the motivation to improve himself, and THEN has to realise that improving yourself and being a good person does not necessarily mean to surpress any negative or strong emotions. Once again, a story about acceoting yourself, even the sides you have a hard time controlling and find off-putting or scary. And I think Mob gets to realise this in a silly and gently way!

5. Abe takaya (ookiku furikabutte)

Oh Abe. It's that one page. When he is explaining to Sakeaguchi his backstory with Haruna, and he is talking about it so casually, it's no big deal, but you can tell. "Everyone is afraid of pain". It makes my heart clench every time. It's his control-issues, his fast felling into caring about Mihashi as a person, but then slowly realising what that actually means. It's him being shocked by the smile, it's him doing anything to win, it's him not realising how mean he is. In a different story Abe would have been a bully. But fortunately for him Momoe and the team and Mihashi himself are not putting up with any of it and he slowly and also gently improves himself. I gotta catch up with oofuri. (also gay. hi)

After being on Tumblr for I think nearly a year, and making a fuck ton of posts and gaining mild popularity on certain posts and gaining a whopping 21 followers, I've never made a Hinata Harem post. So yall are finally lucky enough to hear my takes on it ❤️❤️❤️

So first of all, I kinda love the hinata harem thing bc it's actually so funny, but strangely, in a way, it's realistic. Not very well written most of the time, but realistic as a concept.

Bc like he gets along with basically the entire cast, and he sometimes compliments characters who are not used to being complimented, and that character may blush of embarrassment, and then the fandom takes that as shipping material, like with Goshihina. And it makes sense! Imagine you're rarely complimented, and you strive for validation from your peers, especially upperclassmen, and then suddenly, the cutest boy you've ever seen compliments you like you're the only person on the planet. And so then you purposely try as hard as you possibly can to make said boy continue to compliment you. Take this, then multiply it by 100, because I think that's how the harem trope, in Hinata's case, works.

This isn't meant to be in the way that he can be shipped with every single character because truly, he can't. Shipping Hinata with 3rd years, in a typical high school setting, is, at least imo (and not bc of the age gap itself), weird bc of the maturity difference. You shouldn't date a senior as a freshman bc you're on two separate maturity levels. And regarding all of the many 3rd years (tendou, daichi, suga, bokuto, etc), it's really the same exact thing just platonically. Bokuto is literally Hinata's older brother!! He adopted him as a student *and* sibling, bc he felt the same things everybody does, just in a *different* way.

The hinata harem, to me, is the display of hinata's character in reference to every other character, yk? To me, these select few people are actually in love with him, and these people have a "crush," which is more so a platonic feeling, and these people find a true, deep *friendship* with him, one that they've probably never experienced before, and therefore may look like a crush or love to an outside viewer. And, in these different relationships between hinata and other characters, they all love him. They all feel a loving connection with him, like how people would think in a harem, but it's not quite so because all of the people who love hinata love him in different ways.

Now, with how this harem is portrayed in fanfiction actually scares me bc half the people there are much older and mature than him (gen question why do ppl ship him with 3rd years /in high school/, like, I love Brazil Oihina sooooo much but hs Oihina is 😧😧😧) , and tbh it just gets out of control.

And alot of times I see Hinata reciprocate?? With multiple people?? Which is fine to an extent, imo like I love poly ships, I've seen a lot of really cute ones and some more interesting ones, and it's totally normal to have a crush on a few people at once but istg some people make him a goddamn player,,,

I recently read a harem-ish fic, which was much more similar to how I personally find it to be like, it was essentially people having a crush on hinata, or realizing it, and it was cute, but at the same time, Hinata asked one of them on a date, cuddled with like two other guys (which, normalize cuddling platonically but in the context of the fic it wasn't suuuuper platonic but wasn't suuuuuper romantic either iykwim), and the part of that that kinda icked me was just that he was getting on with so many people at once (the fic took place in the span of like a week, and there were like 5 people i think??). And a lot of other fics that are post time skip are just Hinata hooking up with the entire cast at some point???

Idk tbh but I do really like fics where everybody LOVES hinata, but only a few people are IN love with him. Just the balance of like ~5 people having a crush on him, half of the rest of them have adopted him in one way or another, and the other half have just found their new bff.

I was really unsure how to imagine this at first, but I feel like he'd actually ask advice from the team. Most of them offer to help him confess. So you end up in the volleyball gym, with no one there. Baited by Yachi and Yamaguchi.

Hinata comes to the gym, with flowers and chocolates and a really red face.

He'd stutter and mess his words up a lot too. But he'll be able to send the message to you. The message where he liked you, no- loved you. He'd do everything for you. He also would've said that he did his best in his volleyball matches so that he can try to impress you.

body physique-wise, tbh i think he should go for date tech however, his playing style and personality would be the most suitable to being in a team like inarizaki. specifically the ability to stay calm despite the tension and pressure of the game/opponent. i think he would be such a great addition to them and i think he would handle the miya twins well. he can be like a sugawara counterpart to them. sungho is also quite competitive although he can be a little bit clueless at times. regardless, he still strives to be a strong and reliable member of the team.

additional: i think he would clash often with suna though lmao. but would later on realize they actually work well together and would form some unspoken "i still hate your ahh but i have gained respect for you" brocode thing. also, he would be the miya twins number one favorite target to tease, please pray for sungho!

lee sanghyeok ☆ 리우

karasuno !!

riwoo has this vibe that matches karasuno. i think the closest way i can desribe it is the passion and drive to do something that you really love. riwoo is bnd's youngest performance director and has traits of a leader. his leadership skills is an additional trait that makes him karasuno material to me. plus, karasuno going through their flop era after the little giant (im sorry for the lack of better terms) and then being blessed with skilled first years (tobio and shoyo), he would make that his biggest source of motivation to play. i think he would be most similar with sugawara's overall leading style (a bit more strict and direct though). but skills and character wise..... walk with me, hoshiumi. but that is saved for bnd as haikyuu characters.

additional: he would get dragged by noya to be in the goofballs club and he would lose his sanity. somehow managed to have made some sort of bond with tsuki and now yamaguchi clings to him too. daichi would have him in the list of potentially the next captain of karasuno once they graduate. and lastly, yachi would be so grateful to have him in the team, he helps her out a lot

saw somewhere (i forgot) that he would be in aoba johsai but i think they would get overwhelmed with his energy. on the other hand, teams who can handle the overwhelmingly extroverted, energy filled, mbti "f" personified goofballs, are karasuno and fukurodani. he would suit karasuno as well but they have enough of the energetic members already. please let the introverts of karasuno have a rest, pray for their sanity for they have noya, shoyo, yamaguchi (honorary) and tanaka. and then i also imagined him playing alongside bokuto and realized that they would be such an inseparable duo together (in court) like they would just match each other's energy. overall i think fukurodani's energy has a good balance that would hone his skills well

additional: bokuto would absolutely adore him! hinata would be jealous because mj would replace him as bokuto's new "apprentice" but then would also admire mj's skills (he improved quickly after training endlessly with bokuto) and end up befriending him.

ALRIGHT NOW! trust me, there is no bigger enthusiast for the kageyama x taesan than me, my username is literally tobiotaesan BUT hear me out. taesan is also a cat and karasuno are crows. kinda fitting for him too but this household is sole believer of cat taesan. sometimes people can be associated with animals based on their characteristics (literally kpop idols deciding their rep emoji) or resemblance to it. it cannot be denied that nekkoma really are a bunch of cats. but thats not actually why i put taesan in nekkoma. taesan has great potential to be a really good blocker (he is a giant like his name suggests), following kuroo's steps. overall however, i think he would be a well-rounded player. and like everyones thoughts, he really would have similar playing style as tobio. but he would be pushed towards being focused as a blocker more to take advantage of his height. but then he is also quite brainy and would definitely contribute to strategizing with kenma and hence, i think he is very fitting to be in nekkoma.

additional: kenma would hate him rip. when he first tried to present his thoughts and suggestions during a game (the opponents were almost on par with them) kenma was pissed lol but then he realized that taesan was right, they won and kenma got even more pissed lmao

IM SORRY BUT HE IS NOT KENMA! he is another case of "i dont think he should be in that team but instead *insert other team name*" but walk with me now. does he or does he not resemble oikawa? i know i said this is not a bnd as haikyuu characters but really! i cannot be the only one! he is a little bit more reserved and collected compared to oikawa but the overall dynamics of aoba johsai members, their passion for volleyball and playing style, is something that i see leehan would be able to maintain. he might be considered to become the next captain but would decline it. he gives me the silent but deadly on the court and then a softie fish obssessed loser outside (lmao)

additional: oikawa now has competition with having the most fangirls lol but he would love training leehan. he would want to make him better than kageyama lmao. is definitely on the watchlist of coach washijou, he is being considered to be invited for under-19 world youth summer training (? does anyone the exact name for it) like oikawa, ushijima thinks he shouldve joined shiratorizawa instead

date tech !!

coach washijou would like him because he is tall and is still growing but i think he would be too intimidated by ushijima and hence, date tech. regardless, he unexpecredly fits really well with them. his height still comes in handy with the team. date tech is known for their defense aka the "iron wall" and somewhat rage-filled passion when playing and woonhak would just be in awe of their gameplay process. he would love being a player for the team and would strive to become a very good blocker like his seniors. he wants to be part of the iron wall too. was intimidated by ushijima but he improved so quickly and was invited to train with him in the under-19 world youth summer training (forgot the exact name sorry)

additional: when he was in middle school (idk wtf that is actually) he wanted to find a sport that would suit him so that he would know which club to join in when he is in high school. his dad took him to watch the inter-high championships and fell in love with volleyball. may or may not have watched the little giant and aspired to be like him but he grew up to be taller than him. then, he realized his potential to be a blocker and went to date tech.

random karasuno headcanons

daichi has never once had a break because of his four siblings, which is why he is so uptight and stressed. volleyball is the only place he can really relax (specifically w the other third years) and even then kageyama, hinata, noya, and tanaka are constantly testing him. he brought this up to ukai and takeda once and they both were like “have you ever went to therapy kid?" before they gave him info for a local therapist.

sugawara knows every kpop dance imaginable and forces his teammates to do them during their breaks. the only people who humor him and dance with him are hinata, noya, and tanaka sometimes. during a team sleepover, he convinced kageyama to do a dance with him, but kageyama is badly coordinated when dancing so it was horrible.

asahi knits when he’s anxious— which is all the time. he’s made a blanket for each teammate with their names on it and his bedroom is just piles of blankets at varying levels of complete. his dog appreciates the nest he can sleep in. he jokes that this is where his parents college fund has gone to. also knitting is what gets him into fashion because he jokingly knitted a bucket hat for noya and immediately wanted to make more— his room ended up having 30 bucket hats all over it and he had to give them away to his classmates and teammates.

kiyoko likes reading intense smutty romance books with a blank face. her expectations for romance are through the roof and she’s unashamed. suga has tried reading it over her shoulder and he’s walked away flustered. she reads a wide variety of books but specifically chooses the horniest and/or creepiest to read in front of the team. yachi’s shocked when she learns that kiyoko’s favorite genre isn’t dark romance and that it’s actually fluffy romance.

nishinoya made a fake tinder account of tsukishima with the worst photos imaginable (like tsukki mid-trip or him giving a disgusted face to kageyama). the bio says something like ‘i’m 6’1 if that matters and i think red heads should be killed.’ noya matches with the most amount of people and also updates with the worst opinions ever. people still get interested in ‘tsukki’ even when the bio has ridiculous takes and standards. noya is pissed that it is doing so well.

tanaka’s strangely good at dancing but horrific at singing. he tried to serenade kiyoko one day but his voice cracked so badly that he stopped mid-song and left the room. kiyoko laughed but patted his back in reassurance afterwards. the team never lets him live it down ever— the wedding speeches he received all mentioned the event somewhere. he has an excellent moonwalk and can occasionally successfully breakdance.

ennoshita writes fanfic (“story scripts”) about the team and changes the names. he gets the team to act as the characters in his films, which raises some questions when he writes a tragic story about ‘kai’ (a sarcastic asshole) being killed by his rivals ‘tora’ (a dumb asshole) and ‘shouto’ (a dumbass). he once posted a fanfic shipping two teammates (with name changes) and it got really popular.

kageyama uses 3-in-1 body wash/shampoo/conditioner. he says it’s because it’s efficient, and he gets no acne or sweat stench— this makes everyone hate him. he only changes when miwa comes back into his life after college and is horrified. he tells this story as a little joke whenever he wants people to be shocked and/or disgusted at him, even when he’s a pro.

hinata can cook but only because he has a sister and an overworked single mother. he cooks for himself and natsu often, but it’s really simple and uncreative meals because he would rather practice volleyball than work on making interesting dishes. after the time skip, his cooking skills have vastly improved and every meal he makes is some form of brazillian-japanese blend.

tsukishima had a major my little pony phase and is deeply secretive of it. he listens to the soundtrack often and has a drawer full of little collectibles. yamaguchi is the only one who knows about it, and tsukki compares himself to twilight and yamaguchi to fluttershy. he once almost said ‘everypony’ but yamaguchi screamed to cut him off. it went like: ‘stfu everyp-‘ ‘PISS’ ‘…what?’ ‘WE GOTTA PISS. both of us. right now.’

yamaguchi had a musical theater phase and forced tsukishima to sing along with him. he forced tsukki to dress up as michael to his jeremy one halloween. yamaguchi can only workout or study to musicals, which is deeply unfortunate. his favorite songs were helpless from hamilton and michael in the bathroom from be more chill. he tried to audition for school musicals multiple times but would end up having panic attacks and leaving before his audition.

yachi’s notes are the aesthetically color coordinated ones, even though her teachers talk rapidly fast. she’s always humble about it but she spends hours on them. she never has to study because she spends so much time rewriting them that the notes just stick in her brain. she’s had to recently laminate her completed notes because hinata once’s spilled broth onto her notes, which made her cry.

but FIRST of all im obsessed with your portrayal of kiba. he's like always been my fav but his content is so limited so its been away since my imagination flew but phew these last few days reading your blog has been a journey.

but back to the ramble ive been thinking a lot of the brother's bsf trope for him. at first i was riding naru bc bros but then i thought about sasu and the whole prideful uchiha vibe. even in the modern version, then just being like these corporate giants alongside the hyugas and the other ‘noble’ clans. and like maybe kiba isn’t really bsfs with sasu but like the whole ‘genin’ growing up around each other thing. probably all just went through the same school system.

ANYWAY rambles

i imagine like the uchiha ‘princess’, the only daughter and youngest sibling to sasu and ita. and like she’s just really grown up with that whole corpo royalty vibe, getting everything she wants, always supervised low key suppressed LIKE NOTHING NEW HERE low-key maybe even loosely in talks of being engaged to one of the ally corps like hyugas or something the point is its SCREAMING corruption for kiba. like the forbidden fruit. subtle classism, like kiba’s family isn’t what the uchihas would envision for her but like I just imagine her sneaking out with her brother to a uni party or something (like maybe sasu got to go to a public uni and she got the private treatment) and just like bumping into kiba in all his alpha buff man-ness and just like that first spark of lust just like overwhelms her like doesn’t even know whats going on but OH BOY KIbA does and he’s just like ‘yeah I got what you need bbygirl’ and yeah. Asdfsjhkgrhgo I have a lot of thoughts sorry for all the words 🐣

i don’t see kiba and sasuke being friends because kiba is too big of a hater, BUT i think that would even add more to the appeal because, like… he can act like a real proper shithead towards the people he doesn’t particularly like, so scoring sasuke’s little sister? yeah, he’d definitely try it just to get a sense of some kind of victory from it.

and i think it’d be the initial motive at first — the whole ‘haha, i fucked your sister, whatcha gonna do ‘bout it?’ — but then one thing leads to another and suddenly he’s caught… feelings. feelings that he doesn’t really know how to comprehend yet, and it’s weird because you’re like his exact opposite; so fancy and with your nose upturned whenever he winds up in your presence, pushing your whole princess agenda forward. and he knows that he should find it annoying because you’re acting just like your equally as annoying brother, but instead he’s catching himself thinking about you more and more and he’s almost finding it entertaining. pestering you is almost fun to him.

i think he’d wonder what you’d look like without the make up and the pretty skirt. what you’d look like with messy hair instead of it being in that almosy eerie state where each strand is sitting perfectly in place. he wants to see actual sweat coating your face instead of that matt powder he’s seen you reapply once or twice before because you hate the shine on your forehead. he wants to fuck you nasty and ruin that idea of you being a perfect girl in every single situation just so that he can see what you’re really like underneath.

besides that, i also imagine him initially pursuing you because he hates, hates, hates the whole idea behind noble clans, as well as the set of strict, mostly unfair rules that they’ve got going on, because of what they did to hinata. so if you’re his ticket to fuck with them a little bit, hey, why not?

you would find him appealing because he just simply does not give a shit what anybody thinks. he might get pissed off if someone insults him, sure, but he still ends up doing whatever it is that he wants in that moment and he doesn’t apologize for it. plus, his clan is more like one big family instead of a picture on the wall where everyone is smiling their most perfect grin despite the fact that their eyes still end up looking cold.

he’s warm, you know? carefree and dumb and not uptight at all. he finds joy in the little things and instead of spending money on fancy dinners, he buys things cheap because he’s saving up for a roadtrip that he’s planning to go on this summer with his shitty truck. he doesn’t mind getting his hands dirty and he loves his dog more than most people.

…and he’s also the first man who actually looks you in the eyes and tells you you’re full of shit when you start acting bratty and deserve to be called out for it. he treats you like a person instead of delicate glass.

Well there's the Lost & Found AU.

Hajime is friends with some people but notably two boys, Fuyuhiko and Kazuichi, who can't stand each other. He tries to always hang out with them separately even though they're in the same class, it's a little awkward. Well, kids grow up, and the boys all get real busy around the same time. Fuyuhiko has to sink himself into The Family Business and tries to push people away before ge goes full undercover (and lots of people want him dead si he has no idea if he'll ever come back out), Kazuichi is worrying about graduation since he had the option of a really good school, but it's far away, and his (abusive) father can't take care of the repair shop all by himself and is trying to guilt him into staying. Hajime, well, he's gotta be busy with SOMETHING, because he totally ghosts them and breaks their hearts.

Eventually though, both of them realize that hey, my old best bro is just. Gone from the face of the earth. He said something about studying abroad but it's shady.... Fuyuhiko uses his connections to find out that the Hinata house was never sold or anything, it just stands empty, and the Hinata parents just sorta. Quietly got listed as missing or dead. Kazuichi finds out that Fuyuhiko is snooping and suspects him for all the shadiness, therefore involving himself, and he won't let Fuyuhiko off the hook until the latter proves that Hajime is okay or at least that Fuyuhiko didn't have anything to do with the shady circumstances.

They look for their missing dude but find nothing. Eventually they go back to the Hinata household just to go... somewhere, neither trusts the other in their own home- and ba-bam. A shaggy, long-haired, dead-eyed zombie of a person finds THEM. He's changed, a LOT, but it's Hajime alright.

And that's where the Emotion Rediscovery comes in! Cue cute and sad montage of Hajizuru slowly recovering the ability to feel emotions through friend shenanigans.

It turns out that not only CAN Fuyuhiko and Kazuichi get along, but they actually become really close, and find out some stuff about each other. Also about Hajime, who maybe wasn't the kind, easygoing normal dude they knew him as, and had baggage they never really imagined.

Keeping Hajizuru around means that the shadiest parts of HPA are hot on their tails, and things get real, real dangerous. They basically need to go back to the HPA Unethical Mindfuckery Division to try and help Hajime, but that brings them to the belly of the beast, and they get caught. HPA doesn't wanna risk the ire of the Yakuza, but sending Fuyuhiko back there is a 50/50 death sentence, which they're totally cool with. Kazuichi is a nobody whom no one will miss, so he's taken out back like old yeller. HajiZuru is out back in the pod for reprogramming, to get risk of those pesky wants and feels.

SYKE. HajiZuru has learned too much. He sabotages the programme, regains his full range of memory and feeling, kills some people, and saves the day. Fuyuhiko and Kazuichi gain a bodyguard and a tutor better than any school, respectively, and everything is fine the end.

Kageyama Tobio truly believes that he lives and breathes volleyball. It was never really a hard choice for him growing up when asked whether he would choose volleyball or eating; his instant and definite answer is, volleyball.

Though a tiny whisper could be heard from him, “is it meat though?”.

When you came into the equation though, his choice had faltered a bit more. A love great enough to possibly triumph against his love for volleyball. Truly, you became a force that he didn’t expect to reckon with in his younger days.

Class had finished exactly 30 minutes ago. The school now is only bustling with those who either have club activities or sports activities. Yet you have neither, and here you are, standing in front of the gym where the Karasuno volleyball player, trains. It has been 15 minutes since you give yourself some pep talk to just “you only live once, what’s the harm to it”, and the gnawing nervousness is getting to you.

Kageyama and the others have finished changing into their sports attire, and from a far you could see a group of man walking towards the gym, towards you. You could feel your chest tightening up a bit but you regulate your breathing. Your eyes search for a certain dark-haired man, with a prominent scowl on his face. Kageyama was munching on some bread while he actively listens to Hinata talking about some tv show he watched last night.

It was Tanaka, obviously, Tanaka would be the first one to notice you standing at the side of the court’s door, back leaning on the wall. Then after Tanaka nudges Nishinoya, he jokingly said that maybe you’re going to confess to him.

Right yet very wrong. You on the other hand, who’s watching Kageyama, well really all of them yet your eyes had blurred the others out; is getting the cold feet. You could feel your hand sweating as you proceed to rub your palms on your skirt. You could hear your brain screaming at you to just turn around and leave, to stop embarrassing yourself but you stood your ground.

You’re doing it. So, with another deep breath and a ‘you can do this!’ cheer to yourself, you pushed your body of the wall and walk straight to Kageyama. The loudness from the group of boys slowly dissipates when Tanaka whisper yelled “hey a girl is coming”, and they thought you were going to confess to Suga, since so many girls had confessed to Suga, but you stood directly in front of Kageyama, the most oblivious out of them all.

Kageyama had stopped his bickering with Hinata when Suga pinched him, getting the setter’s attention on you. You could feel your ears getting warm, something that always happen when you’re getting embarrassed. Your head tilted up while Kageyama looked down at you. Honestly, he looks pretty scary with his sharp eyes and that deep scowl, but you strengthen your resolve.

“I really like you”. The words blurted itself out before you could even think to actually pull him aside, and well, not confess in front of his team mates. Yet what’s done is done, and the words have been said and reciprocated by sharp gasps. All of them are watching the scene unfolding, it quickly reminded Hinata of the tv show he watched last night, while Kageyama, who’s not really fluent in the language of relationships could only stare at you dumbfounded.

Tsukishima snickered, a smirk gracing his features as he nudges Kageyama. “Oi, a girl is confessing to you, why the hell are you stiff as a rock?”.  Kageyama who’s still confused could only coughed as he shifted his weight on another feet. You were searching his face for, anything, yet you kinda, already know the answer.

“You like me?”. You nodded, a blush covering your face but you continue your eye contact with him. Now, the genius setter is only a genius when it comes to volleyball, but love? Bro is absolutely dry in that area. Kageyama is unsure on what to say to you, because first of all, does he know you? Probably. But where? He’s bad at memorizing people’s faces and names so getting a confession from someone he doesn’t know feels weird.

So, the only thing his dumbass could say is, “But I don’t know you, and I don’t like you”.

It was instant, the collision of Daichi’s palm to the back of Kageyama’s head, causing the setter to grunt in pain. Suga’s smile was getting dangerous because holy shit, Kageyama is a dumbass and who would have thought he had raised such stupidity. They’re both painfully aware of how socially awkward he is and how blunt he could get, but this takes the cake. Sugawara pinches Kageyama’s forearm as he whispers yells, “what the hell is wrong with you?!” while Daichi bowed at you repeatedly, apologizing for Kageyama’s reply.

Now, Kageyama is confused all over again, poor man for his lack of knowledge, but to not have any delicacy? That’s truly on him. The confusion though was cut short when he sees you rubbing your chest, tears forming in your eyes and a thought came into his head. “Maybe I should have thought about it more”. He definitely should have thought about it more because he’s incurring the wrath of a certain captain, a certain setter, a certain wing spiker and a certain libero.

“Fair enough”. You whispered. “I expected that but damn, it still hurts”. It’s true that you already knew that Kageyama would reject you, and it’s true that he doesn’t know you. Its only you who had eyes on him, who noticed that he’s an airhead, and that he’s not that social, that he really loves volleyball. You have like him ever since you saw his incredible combo with Hinata. You remembered your friends going crazy over how high Hinata’s jump is, but your eyes were completely on the one who utilized Hinata so well. You were in a trance and in that moment, your heart beats another rhythm.

Your tears were blurring surroundings, and you know now what you’re going to do next. You’re going to say thank you, and apologize for being a nuisance, quickly walk out of school, run to your home and cry. Cry because you’re kinda dumb, and you shouldn’t have confessed, and you’re probably gonna dread the few days of school because you’re going to see him in class.

But your plan didn’t really work out like you wanted.

“DID YOU JUST MADE A GIRL CRY???”. Tanaka screamed as you and Kageyama flinched. Kageyama was going to try defending himself but before he could, Tanaka yelled again. “What kind of man makes a girl cry?!!”. Nishinoya and the others nodded vigorously, agreeing to Tanaka’s words but really, they’re just jealous. Like why the hell would Kageyama, the most awkward member of theirs get a confession. Of course, they won’t admit that, so they resorted to taunt and poke at Kageyama.

Daichi stepped up to you as he squeezes your shoulder, catching your attention.

“Hey, I am so sorry for his behaviour. Kageyama is quite… challenged in that part so…” You shake your head as you give him a small smile. 

“No, it’s okay! I already expected this. The emotions just came suddenly that’s why”.

Sugawara was going to console you when you step back and speaks.

“I’m sorry for the inconvenience Kageyama-san. I wish you the best”. You bowed and give him a small smile, as you nod to the others. Quickly, you turn around and walked away as fast as you could, sniffling with a sad slump on your shoulders.

Kageyama watches you walk away as an annoying feeling fester in his heart. He feels bad for rejecting you but he truly doesn’t know what he should do. He was going to ask for the team’s opinion when Sugawara speaks up.

“I think you should get to know her, Kageyama. She seems nice and she’s willing to like you”.  Hinata nodded as Tanaka and Nishinoya stares at Kageyama with rage.

Kageyama was lost on what to do or think so he searches for Daichi’s eyes, waiting for something. Daichi had his hand on his chin, as he gives Kageyama a small smile.

“Your punishment for today is decided”.

“Huh?”.

“You are to chase after her, apologise, walk her back home and then come back. Then you will begin your laps once you’re back, is that understood?”. Daichi announce, and though he’s not one to let love life interfere with trainings, this is Kageyama they’re talking about. For him to actually get to know a girl by his own would be a dream that settles in dreamland.

“Well, scram!”. Nishinoya yelled as Kageyama frantically nods and went on to catch up to you.

You were sniffling lightly, trying to hide the fact that you’re crying since there’s still people around you. Ever since the confession, you’ve been in a state of self-loathing, thoughts going over on, is your attractiveness the cause of the rejection? or is there something you did wrong? It seems like there is comfort in trying to understand why through self-loathing, but you knew it’s not really you. It just Kageyama barely knows you, but you can’t really fathom that at the moment.

The convenience store was ahead of you, and you put a little smile on your face. As you change your path to the side, you could hear footsteps running from behind you and a voice calling out for someone.

“Hey you! wait for me!”. You knew that voice, its none other than your crush and when you turn around to confirm, indeed the tall man is running towards you. You stopped on your tracks as he halted in front of you, two hands on his knee as he tries to catch his breath.

“Kageyama? Why are you here?”. You inquire as you place a hand on his shoulder.

“Puh… hah”.

“Puh?”

“Punishment…”. Your face twist in confusion as Kageyama finally regain his breath and towers over you.

“My captain told me to go after you, and apologise and get to know you. After that, I was instructed to go walk you home, go back and start my laps”. Kageyama said with a face filled with determination while your confusion turns into embarrassment and pity. You held your hand up and shake it as you say.

“It’s okay Kageyama! It’s not that big of a deal! You should go back and start your training for the day”.

“I can’t because Daichi will ask me on the details and I can’t really lie”. You were going to refuse him again when he looks up and saw the convenience store, his eyes lighting up as he held your forearm, pulling you to the convenience store.

“Let me treat you to something as an apology”. Okay maybe that’s not what Daichi meant with an apology, because that’s borderline bribery but you’re too startled by the fact that Kageyama is pulling you to the convenience store rather than the ‘apology’.

Now you’re inside, Kageyama asked you what you want and you were going to refuse again but he insisted, and so you told him that you’re getting some drinks. The both of you walked to the milk fridge and you took out strawberry milk along with Kageyama’s usual, plain milk and hand it to him. Kageyama had a confused look on his face yet takes it.

“ You like plain milk right?”. You claim as you close the fridge’s door.

“How do you know that?”. You chuckled and reply. “Kageyama, I have a crush on you, knowing what you like is not that hard to know, when I spend most of my time thinking and observing you”. Yup too honest, you thought. Your face reddens as you look up to him.

“I mean- I don’t-, I mean I just have been seeing you a lot!”. You tried to cover it up cause your confession sounds very stalker-ish, and you don’t really want to be branded as a stalker by your crush. Kageyama instead choose to stay silent as he went over to the counter to pay for the both of your drinks.

Once the both of you stepped outside, Kageyama finally breaks the awkward silence.

“Why do you like me?”. You had your head down all the time because you were worried that you have offended him, then when you finally lift your head up, you realized that Kageyama is watching you so intensely.

You stare into his eyes as you gulped, looking at your feet again.

“It was really just… awe in the beginning. I saw your fast combination with Hinata and then eventually, my eyes kept on going towards you in class”. You confessed, kicking of the pebbles on the ground.

“I can’t say grand things like you gave me purpose or anything like that, I just like you, simple and straightforward”. You sucked in a breath of air, willing yourself to look at him, and again Kageyama was staring at you.

“What’s your name?”. Kageyama asked as you answer. Then you waited again, searching his face for anything, but you can’t read his facial expression.

“I’ll be honest, (y/n)”. You nodded as Kageyama now become the one staring holes into the pavement.

“I’m not good with relationships, if isn’t clear as of now…”. You nodded again, understanding where he’s coming from, because frankly, you don’t know yourself. Both still very young and naïve.

“So, when you confessed to me earlier, I was confused and words just come out of my mouth. I didn’t mean to hurt you, so I apologize”.

“It’s okay Kageyama. I was not expecting you to accept it anyway because like you said, you don’t know me. Truly, you don’t need to do all this”. You replied, while gesturing the air.

“But I’m just curious really. You’re the first girl that ever approached me like so”. You smiled in amusement because you would have thought a man as handsome as he is would probably have been pursued several girls.

“But again, I can’t give you a relationship because I don’t know how. So…”. You quirked your eyebrows at him as he rubs the back of his neck, his ears getting red.

“Maybe we can try and be friends first you know… that’s really the only thing I know…”. Kageyama waited for your response yet you laughed out loud, a hand on his shoulder.

“Kageyama, I think I know another reason why I like you”.

“Why?”.

“Because you’re incredibly adorable”. You whisper, your voice low and for sure, only Kageyama could hear you. You had a soft smile on your face, a smile that reaches your eyes as you pinches his cheek. Kageyama could feel the blush creeping on his face because at this time, this stranger he just gotten to know looks absolutely beautiful.

He coughs, trying to hide his embarrassment as he speaks.

“Don’t tease me…”. You laugh again as you ask him for his phone. Kageyama gives it to you without question as you save your number in his phone.

“That’s my number, call me when you’re free”. Kageyama was confused again because why should he call you, the both of you can just meet in class now that he knows you’re his classmate, yeah, he just known.

“Now go back to your training! You’re already late!”. Kageyama notices the time on his phone and panicked a bit because he took longer than he should. He was going to offer to walk you back home, but you insisted that he would be late, thus after some thought, he agreed. The both of you then say your goodbyes as Kageyama started to run. You smiled in fondness as you watch him run away towards the school but suddenly, he stopped and turn around.

“I’ll give you a call!”. Kageyama screamed out as he waves you goodbye while you give him a thumbs up, despite how surprised you were.

You released a sigh as a smile came upon your face again. You walked back into the convenience store, now with a new mission for the evening. You’re not going to be sad tonight as you expected, instead, a call might ring.

BONUS:

Kageyama and the team had a meeting early in the morning since a tournament is coming. After the meeting ended, the boys huddled around him, wanting to know the details of last night.

Once he came back from your meeting with him yesterday, he was bombarded with question and Kageyama had to spend some time telling them the details of what happened because even his usually level-headed captain was interested. So when they knew that the both of you might be calling last night, they were so excited for him.

“So did you guys call last night?”. Kageyama nodded slowly as the boys howled in excitement.

“Did you like the call though?”. Sugawara asked as he grins, proud of his boy.

“It was… surprisingly fun. We talked a lot, well she, talked a lot and I answered but I think I liked it more than I expected”. The boys laugh as Tanaka smacks Kageyama back repeatedly.

“Now you only need to ask her out on a date!”.

Tanaka’s suggestion became a question and answer session as Kageyama asked them how exactly dating begins and so the Karasuno team had a short meeting on what dating is, thankfully Shimizu told them that school is starting soon.

That short q and a session brought you to Kageyama standing over you in class.

“Kageyama”.

“Let’s go on a date”. You gasped as you look around, making sure that no one heard you and thankfully no one did.

“My senpai’s told me that we should go on a date as soon as possible”. Your face was so hot and red that you have to take a deep breath. A part of you thanks his seniors for their word and another part of you is understanding that Kageyama is actually interested at you to that point. And both parts are a win.

And so, you nodded, as you told him that the both of you should discuss it later.

Now your confession failed, yet it succeeds in ways you didn’t expect, at all.

summary: after some chaos ensues where hinata and kageyama get kicked out of the gym, the boys come up with the idea for a 3v3 to settle if kageyama can be the setter. of course, you get roped into it, and you're now joining them for 5 am practice.

Kageyama and Hinata did not get along. That is exactly what resulted in the two of them getting kicked out of the gym. You stuttered, looking between the three older boys.

You didn’t know them. You only knew the two boys who were now kicked out until they could get along.

You heard Hinata and Kageyama plead with the captain who’s name you learned to be Daichi, though he was determined in his stance that the two needed to work together.

The grey haired boy, Sugawara, told you that you could watch practice for today, then the next day you could go over what you needed to do for manager duties with Kiyoko, the other manager.

You were kind of dazed, honestly. The next thing you knew, Kageyama was challenging Daichi to a 2v2, which he turned into a 3v3 with two other first years that would be joining the team. The penalty if they didn’t win? Kageyama wouldn’t be the setter.

After Daichi put Tanaka on the two boys’ team, he had the idea to meet up and practice, which is exactly why you found yourself standing at the entrance to the school, half asleep at 5 AM.

You weren’t technically supposed to be there, but after exchanging numbers with Hinata, he mentioned it to you, and you both decided joining could be fun.

Your brain was starting to regret that.

Well, that was until you heard a now familiar voice cheer your name. You looked around, spotting Hinata and grinning. “Morning!”

He smiled brightly. “Good morning! How’d you sleep?” The two of you turned, heading onto the school grounds.

“Pretty good! I fell asleep on a call with my best friend.” You hummed, remembering how you had talked Iwaizumi’s ear off about your first day and all the new people you had met.

“Ooo. Do they go here?” Hinata tilted his head.

“Ah, no, he goes to Seijoh!”

“Wait, really?!” Hinata gasped a little. “That’s where Kageyama was supposed to go too, right? It’s one of the best schools in the prefecture?”

“Mhm! I was pretty surprised to see him here. We’ve actually been in school together for a while!”

“Really?” He grimaced. “I don’t even wanna imagine what that’d be like..”

You giggled a little. “You know, if you wanna win this thing you’re gonna have to learn how to tolerate him.” You grinned. “I get that he’s kind of an ass, but he’s not that bad, I promise. He’s kind of awkward, actually.”

“Well, he seems pretty mean to me.” Hinata huffed, putting his hands on his hips dramatically. “I met him last year during a volleyball game. I swore to beat him, but.. Here we are. On the same team. And I have to work with him!” He groaned, and you snickered, the both of you arriving in front of the gym and spotting Kageyama.

“Yo!” You called out, waving at him.

Kageyama looked over, narrowing his eyes at you. “What is she doing here?”

“She’s here to practice. Duh.” Hinata walked up to the doors, pulling on them only to realize they were locked. “Should’ve seen that coming. It’s locked.”

“Okay, let’s go through the window.” Kageyama shrugged, and Hinata turned to him, gawking.

“Are you crazy?! We’d end up getting expelled!”

You heard a yawn behind you, turning around and seeing Tanaka. “Five AM is too early..” He had his hands in his pockets, trying to keep warm.

“Tanaka?” Hinata blinked, looking at the older boy.

“You got two hours! And then, beat it.” Tanaka grinned, spinning the keys to the gym in his hands.

You gasped. “Woah! Cool, dude!”

“You’re awesome!!” Hinata cheered.

“Thank you!” Kageyama spoke, though didn’t show nearly as much visible enthusiasm as Hinata.

“Aha! Yeah, who’s your hero first years?! Call me Sir Tanaka!”

“Sir Tanaka!!” Kageyama and Hinata yelled at the same time, and you cringed.

“That’s a little far.” You eyed Tanaka, and he looked at you.

“Want my help or not?”

You let out a little grumble and sigh. “Sir Tanaka..”

“Alllright!” Tanaka grinned, walking up to the door and unlocking it.

He clicked on the lights, the entire gym brightening, and Hinata gasped. “WOWW!”

“You were just in here yesterday.” Tanaka blinked.

You snickered. “I’ll grab some volleyballs!” You went over to the supply closet, grabbing some, and when you came back out, Sugawara was there.

“Oh– Hey–” You blinked.

Sugawara looked over, smiling softly at you. Tanaka huffed, clearing his throat. “Suga figured out what was going on, so he’s here to help.”

“Oh! Cool! Okay!” You grinned.

It had been a while of practicing, and you sat up on the stage while Hinata practiced his receives with Suga. Hinata didn’t seem to be paying attention completely.

“So, like, have you been on the team since you started going here? Oo, and what position do you play?” You tilted your head at Suga.

He hummed. “Yeah! And I’m the team’s setter.”

“Ooo..” You hissed a little. “Nervous about Kageyama taking your position?”

“No, not really.” He shrugged before pausing and blushing. “Ah, sorry, that came out kind of arrogant. I just mean that if he earns it, he earns it. No hard feelings.”

You stared at him for a second. Was he a gift from God? “Marry me.”

Sugawara stuttered, blinking before a heat crept up his neck. “What?”

“Nothing.” You whistled, leaning back on your hands and acting as if you didn't say a thing.

Before you could be questioned, Hinata started bugging Kageyama about setting for him after he had set for Tanaka.

You felt bad for him, honestly. Kageyama had always seemed a little awkward, but he was downright mean to Hinata. It was hard to have too much hatred for him on Hinata's behalf since you had known him for so long, though.

The next guy you met, you couldn't say the same for, though.

The next guy you met you couldn't say the same for though. You had briefly met the other two first years during practice, but you didn’t talk to them much since you were mostly shadowing Kiyoko to see what you’d need to do.

You had managed to get Daichi to let you leave a little early with the excuse that you were walking home and since it was dark you wanted to get an early start, but really you had made your way out to where Kageyama and Hinata were practicing. Hinata was still working on his receives, and you were almost certain he was about to catch this one when a hand stuck out above him, catching the ball.

You squawked. “Heyy, he almost had that one!” You huffed, looking up and seeing the other two first years.

The blonde one who was admittedly kind of cute raised a brow. “Are you guys seriously practicing out here? You must be the first years who made all that trouble on the first day.”

The green haired one smiled a little. “T-shirts out here? Aren’t you cold?”

Hinata looked a little in awe of the blonde's height before he started to jump for the ball. “Give it back! Hey!”

“Shouldn’t you elementary schoolers be home at this hour?”

Hinata gawked at him. “Who are you supposed to be?!”

Kageyama raised a brow when he looked over. “I guess you’re the other first year players.”

“Quiet! I’ll do the talking!” Hinata huffed.

“Question. How tall are you?” Kageyama tilted his head.

“Glad you asked! Tsukki happens to be 6’2! He’s almost 6’3.” The green haired one grinned.

“6’2???” Hinata stared, mouth agape.

“What’s the point in you bragging about how tall I am, Tadashi?”

“You’re right. Sorry Tsukki.”

Tsukki and Tadashi then.

Tsukki looked at Kageyama. “You’re Kageyama from Kitagawa First, aren’t you? Tch, a star player like you at a school like this?”

“So?” Kageyama narrowed his eyes, stepping forward.

“Look, Pal! We are not gonna lose to you, do you understand me?!” Hinata huffed, looking up at Tsukki.

Tsukki stared at him before scoffing. “Isn’t that cute? I didn’t realize that little skirmish actually meant something to you, we couldn’t care less about it. But if it means that much to you, I guess we could throw it.”

“WHAATTT?” Hinata gawked at him.

“Fine. Throw it or work yourself to death for all I care. It doesn’t matter ‘cause I’m still gonna win on Saturday.”

“You mean we, right?!”

Tsukki laughed. “So confident! Well that’s the King for you.”

“Hey! Don’t call me that!” Kageyama grit his teeth, stepping forward before you placed a hand on his shoulder, shaking your head.

“I knew it. Rumor has it you lose your cool every time somebody brings up your old nickname. But who wouldn’t want to be the King of The Court? I mean it really suits you, right your Highness?”

Kageyama was shaking with anger and you narrowed your eyes at Tsukki. “That’s enough.” You stepped in front of Kageyama. “I don’t know who you think you are coming over here and fucking with people, but you’re not all that.”

Tsukki raised a brow. “And who are you?”

“Y/N, not that it matters but I went to school with Kageyama and you’re wrong. He’s not like that.” You narrowed your eyes on the blonde.

He scoffed. “Right. I saw him at finals.” He looked back up at Kageyama. “I still can’t believe your teammates put up with all those selfish sets you’d toss up. I know I wouldn’t.” He paused. “Oh, I bet that’s why you’re here, right? They finally got sick of you?”

“Hey, I said that’s enough–” Before you could say anything else, Kageyama moved you out of his way and grabbed Tsukki by the collar.

“Tsukki!” Tadashi gasped, both him and Hinata in somewhat defensive stances.

You and Hinata both stared at Kageyama as he glared at Tsukki before letting him go, turning around and going back to his bag, picking it up. “We’re leaving.”

“Wha–” You sputtered when Tsukki spoke again.

“Running off? Guess the King’s not a threat after all.” You saw the way Hinata’s eyes snapped to Tsukki. “I hope his majesty puts up more of a fight on Saturday–” He tossed the ball up and you’re not sure how it happened, but Hinata was in the air, jumping to grab the ball as Tsukki gawked at him. He landed pretty smoothly too.

“Would you just shut up about the stupid King?! I’m here too!” Hinata glared at him. “You have no idea what I’m capable of!”

“Oh yeah?” Tsukki narrowed his eyes and Hinata grimaced.

“What’s that look for anyway, buddy?! Are you trying to start something with me?!”

Tsukki sighed, smiling. “There’s no need to argue, alright? Let’s all just enjoy playing some volleyball together. It’s just a game, right?”

Hinata furrowed his brows. “What’s that supposed to mean?”

“Exactly what it sounds like. Bye.” He turned around.

Hinata huffed. “Hey, not so fast! You never told me who you are!”

The two boys both turned back to him.

“I’m Kei Tsukishima, Year 1 Class 4.”

“I’m Tadashi Yamaguchi!”

Not Tadashi then.

“As of today, we are officially your new teammates. Even if it doesn’t feel like it. Anyway, I’m looking forward to his Majesty’s royal sets.”

“Cya!” Yamaguchi called out, walking off with Tsukishima.

Hinata and Kageyama glared at the two as they walked away and you huffed, turning around. “What dicks.”

“For real! We should show them who’s boss.” Hinata grinned.

“It doesn’t matter.” Kageyama said, turning around.

“Hey! Where you going?!”

“Huh?” Kageyama turned to him.

“We still have some work to do, don’t we?”

Kageyama stared at him before setting his bag back down.

You don’t know what it was, but those guys really pissed you off, and you were more determined than ever to help Kageyama and Hinata beat those jerks. Especially the stupid blonde one.

same anon here to elaborate on some of the cats (and other pets) in the story:

every member of knights has a descendant of little john/nyaitsu. (only one i have details on atm: izuleo have a big fat cat named king richard who's dumb as rocks[though they both insist otherwise] and spoiled rotten. they didn't know it was a girl until after she was named that. later on they got another cat who they named maid marian before finding out that was a boy. their names have not been changed regardless)

shu adopted a Fancy Pedigree Sphinx (he makes it little sweaters/outfits to keep it warm). mika has a skrunkly black cat he found in a dumpster (alternatively, also thought it could be cool to give him one of those patchwork cats, where the pigmentation on their face is like. split down the middle yanno). anywho these cats are Bonded for Life

tetohina have a Stupid Male Orange Tabby. tetora thinks the cat is a Fierce Warrior while hinata calls it a stinky dum dum (affectionately)

kohiiai actually have three pets. first was the bunny, then the tarantula hiiro brought home a day later, then a while after that, kohaku found a stray kitten in an alleyway and brought it home (by this point hiiro has adjusted to the idea of domesticated pets, and it helps that the kitten was also on the streets [just like him ;;]) kohaku and the cat are both found regularly napping in weird locations (open to suggestions on cat breeds!! i keep going back and forth on what it should be,, i liked the idea of bingus, but also like the idea of fluffy,, currently tentatively thinking oriental long hair maybe? idk. kitten with ear too big for he gotdam head)

subaru (+the rest of trickstar by extension) has a direct descendant of daikichi

similarly, koga has at least one or two corgis, if not a direct descendant of leon. also probably like a bajillion foster dogs. hes using the rockstar money to care for as many dogs as possible

souma still has kamegorou. turtles live a long time,, (also maybe one or two horses as well)

given your Cat Knowledge, i'd love to hear your thoughts on these, or any other characters who you think should have cats! :3

Aaahh thats so cute . i can totally imagine leo having a cat named king richard thats just like that, if someone told me him and izumi have that exact cat back in italy i wouldnt even question it id just take it as fact

you could give kohaku a purebred, but it wouldnt be that realistic to do that. finding a purebred stray/feral at all, much less finding one alive, is so unlikely that the only thing keeping me from saying its impossible is my personal adversity to making absolute claims like that on the possibility of some bizarre freak situation. all strays and ferals are moggies/randombreds, any purebreds you see in shelters are animals surrendered by their owners (its rare, ive been rehabbing cats for 6-7 years now and its only happened 3 times)

however that doesnt mean you cant give him a unique cat !! mutations and weird patterns happen all the time in stray and feral populations . the bobtail gene is pretty common in japanese colonies (at least more common than it is in america) so you could give him a bobtail cat? i think a little high white calico bobtail would suit him :^)

but of course realism doesnt really matter too much, hell i have purebreds in catstars au and theyre all ferals

also hiiro would have either a tarantula or a stick bug or both. idk i can imagine him absolutely adoring stick and leaf bugs for how they look like sticks and leaves , he thinks its charming

depending on how far in the future were talking souma might still have saigoudon. souma grew up with him so its safe to assume theyre around the same age, meaning saigoudon is around 20 years old. horses can live up to 30 and occasionally even longer so theyve still got plenty time left together. if he moves out of his parents house maybe hed get his own horse though

the twins definitely have their own cats and tetora definitely tells young children that meet their cat that its part tiger.

SHU HAVING A HAIRLESS BREED IS SO REAL he would love having a pet he can make clothes for its too perfect . the split face marking youre talking about is most common in tortoiseshell cats , that would be perfect for mika :D

with daikichi and leon im almost certain theyre both fixed because koga and subaru are responsible dog owners but subaru would definitely stick with shibas . i can picture koga either with another corgi or adopting a shepard mix of some kind ..... when he retires hed probably start fostering dogs but until then hed probably be busy with life and stick with only one dog so he can devote all his attention to that one . fostering more than one or two dogs at a time is kind of a full time thing (believe me my step grandmother fosters dogs and owns 11) he definitely volunteers at some sort of animal place, either domestic or exotics or whatever he just loves animals in general (thinking abt the guinea pig card..... )

I just realized that most naruto characters we see are technically? nepo babies, they’re parents, mainly fathers, being like respected figures or being related to a respected figure and i just find this funny.

Not to say these characters aren’t hard workers, because they really are amazing by themselves it’s just, they can legit count as celebrities if you think about it. Also the fact that konoha 13 is chalk full of them just makes me think of their academy days, like how do you even manage to focus when you literally have like 6?7? kids from clan heads, most of them being their first borns, the literal hokage’s son/one of the last few uzumaki along with sasuke in canon being the “last” uchiha, I forgot the point i was trying to make but i just feel as if there’s some really wild things in canon that are seemingly glossed over.

Well... Now I want to imagine what it could be like if the main Leaf characters had slightly different ages... konoha 13 and their parents/senseis...

Not far enough to be in different generations and groups, but enough to be in diffefent classes graduating at different years and like... being teamed up with missions and jobs in mind.

Team 8 being hand picked for tracking because they have showed results separetedly, but Shino's already been chunin for 2 or 3 years, Kiba is about to take his second chunin exam and Hinata literally just left the academy. Sakura and Ino having a crush on 2 year older Sasuke and Naruto being right between their ages. Oh team 7 is planned from the moment Sasuke graduates the academy, because he is a genius from a big name clan and has to get the best team for him. Team Gai being all shippuden age by the start of the series. Kakashi actually being younger than the rest of the jonins...

Just mixing up things a bit. Them not all knowing each other and meeting by chance and different missions.

chapter 1 -street, day-

sotetsu: Yo, Saki. Heading to Starless again today?

saki: Yes. I want to watch P’s rehearsal.

sotetsu: I see. So, how are they doing?

saki: Hm… They seem to be having a bit of trouble.

sotetsu: Well that’s to be expected. It’s a performance that features the two newbies, they’re in a new learning environment too.

saki: Hinata-san has really been trying his best though. He’s been earnestly following Rindou-san’s guidance.

sotetsu: Rindou’s good at doing that, but well, who knows if it’ll be very effective on Hinata.

saki: You sound like you’re talking from experience.

sotetsu: Hm? Well yeah, I did used to be a member of P after all. I more or less know how Rindou runs things.

saki: Is that so… I can’t really imagine what you’d be like as a member of P.

sotetsu: I had quite the reputation y’know. The guests would often call me the ‘back alley bad boy prince’.

saki: Bad boy prince…?

sotetsu: Well I’m not exactly what people picture as a typical prince, therefore I’m a devious one. I got told all the time that the typical sparkly ‘prince’ image didn’t suit me.

saki: Fufu, what kind of prince were you then?

sotetsu: Who knows… Definitely not the knight in shining armour type.

saki: Meaning?

sotetsu: Team P’s aesthetic is all dazzling and refined, right? Even though that’s what most of the guests were looking for… There was a guy like me who liked to play with fire among them. Tempting the curious guests away from the well lit streets and into the darkness of the back alleys.

saki: So even whilst you were on Team P you were still the same old Sotetsu-san?

sotetsu: Yep.

saki: Huh, I wish I could’ve seen it.

sotetsu: Hahaha, did you not hear what I just said? Or are you also someone that likes being led astray? But well… I can’t show you what I looked like in an actual show, but there’s probably still some photo cards left laying around in a box somewhere.

sotetsu: I didn’t think you’d actually come here to try and find an old photo card. Your tastes are just as strange as mine.

saki: I’m just curious, can you blame me?

sotetsu: I don’t think it’ll be that interesting. My costume was different sure but I don’t think I’ve changed much otherwise.

saki: Is that so?

sotetsu: Well compared to some of the other guys here that is. Some of the others have changed heaps since the early days. Like Sinju for example.

saki: Sinju-san? How was he different in the past?

sotetsu: He was like a cornered dog, barking at anyone that came near.

saki: Huh? Sinju-san was?

sotetsu: This is when he had first joined. I guess he was stressed out since he wasn’t able to keep up at all during practice. He even tried snapping at me a couple times.

saki: That’s pretty surprising…

sotetsu: To me he looked like nothing more than a puppy that wanted to play though. Oh hey, I found one. Here, take a look.
