So I guess privileges earned for doing well involve reproduction simulations and family cohesion. Awesome.

Civil Protection is provided with anti-fatigue rations, probably just straight up stimulants.

Sometimes after killing Freeman Overwatch will instruct civil protection to sterilize witnesses- there isn't a very clear context for the word "sterilize" being used within Overwatch dialogue but soldiers refer to turrets as sterilizers so this may mean killing witnesses. It's really not clear though.

And we saw some new layers to Tom and a new side of him. And I really liked him.

Again, I love flawed messy characters. So he did win me over in the end.

Props to both him and Jake though and acknowledging they both fucked up. Jake actually put everything aside and put faith in Aiden, which is a HUGE step forward.

And, look, what Tom did was horrible, but the show knows it is. Because what does he do? He gets called out. HE TAKES ACCOUNTABILITY, APOLOGIZES, AND SWEARS TO MAKE IT RIGHT.

ALYXCAT'S PAWSOME PLAYLIST - MY FAVORITE PARTS OF MY OWN ALBUM

I WANNA…i love the stereo space in this track. it just feels so wide to me and im being hugged by my guitars. im just so proud of myself to making this so quickly as proof of concept that i could make something really good if i just chose to have fun.

ANYTHING….the first and last verse of the song was written by my girlfriend. she wrote a song for our first anniversary that turned me into a SOPPING WET CRYING MESS and i had to reference it in some way. i ended up making this song for this years anniversary with a bunch of cute art i doodled with the lyrics on it…she cried and i was so glad.

TRACK THREE. this one encapsulates what writing this album felt like to me. everything was in perfect alignment. i feel like i really cracked the code. like i finally crossed (krossed haha) a hurdle that i'd been stuck on for many years of my life. its so corny and full of things i love about the songs i love, but thats the point. this is the song that taught me to embrace the rough and scrappy drafts and ideas and throw my feelings of inadequacy to the side. Polyana's verse really cemented this for me too because she just freestyles at the end and it just felt right to keep it in. TLDR: this song taught me to trust my gut. i love it so much.

HEADSPACE. i wrote this song after having a "regular" conversation with someone in my family and i was realizing i was dissociating as a defense mechanism whenever a specific sort of interaction would occur. i've always wanted to write a song that gets really intense and is really grand, rough, and intense, and this song really did it for me. its the first time i really appreciate my singing and screaming voice in its natural range, so im glad it was the first one on the album to feature it.

RECHARGED. i wrote this on a bad day but originally as a joke to make myself feel better. the starting sample is actually a stupid deku meme put through many layers of botanica ass sound design to hide it. i got a bunch of funny reactions from my friends after showing them. i actually did feel pretty refreshed after making this. enough to keep moving forward for the day <3

HOLD ME (sunglare from the sun). aside from the weird title shit thats going on with this track, this song is about a conversation i had with myself. my weeks kept feeling like moments of drowning mixed with the most euphoric times of my life on repeat. as much as i wanted to give up on everything i held dear to me, some part of me couldn't let go and encouraged me to keep going. despite all my self-sabotage, a part of me still had some fight left. the way that this song progresses is something that i never thought i could ever accomplish, and im glad that fighting side of me won because i would have never made this song without it.

CANT LET YOU KNOW. the person that this song is about changed my life. i know that the chorus and all that sounds like they sucked, but really i can't help but hope they're doing okay. though i may be afraid to tell them to their face, i hope they find this song and know that im glad they were apart of my life. i just love how corny this song is and I LOVE POLYANA'S VOICE SO MUCH. okay anwya yeah I ALSO LOVE THIS FUCKINNN OUTRO ITS SOOOO PRETTY TO MEEA AAA

SENTIMENTAL ALIBI. kros… FUCKING. KROS. THIS GUY IS MY FUCKING GOAT. I LOVE HIM SO MUCH. THIS SONG WASN'T EVEN SUPPOSED TO BE ON THE ALBUM!!! i made a little sketch one day and sent it to him just to hear his thoughts and HE CAME BACK WITH A WHOLE VERSE THAT MATCHED THE VIBES PERFECTLY WITHOUT ANY CONTEXT! and it ended up becoming the WHOLE SONG and one of the biggest projects i've ever worked on. for this entire album being the first times i've ever started working with people, im SO GLAD that my first experiences have results like this. these people have become such important pillars of my life and im so glad we were not only able to communicate that into a song together and work so well together doing it. my fav part of this song is the final climax…this is the first time i really sang my heart out on a chorus,,,,,and I LOVE HOW IT SOUNDS!!! THAT USUALLY NEVER HAPPENS!!!

TAKE A STEP. this song pushed me with the sound design a little and im really happy about it. when i hear this song i always feel a bit of me choosing to be a little hater and cringe at the conry ass message i have in this, but strangely i feel such comfort knowing i can look at those feelings, accept them, and move on despite them. i may think its stupid, corny, cringe, whatever. but i'll keep following those feelings because they have only led me to create this entire project. i will keep taking a step towards the realest parts of me no matter how fucking stupid i sound because its the only way to grow. im really glad this is the last song on the album for this reason.

the entire album means so much to me because this (and hopefully future projects too) will continue to serve as reminders of the lessons, memories, and joy i experienced when creating this project. dare i say, i would need a Sentimental Alibi to free myself from the nostalgia of this project.

went to see httyd with my cousin and sister cause we like this 🤞, they didnt have like any merch (which my sister was wanting to get) but then my sister bought herself a NINETY DOLLAR weighted Toothless plushie from youtooz (ninety dollars cause of USD-CAD, even though youtooz is a canadian company?? and the coupon codes like wouldnt work???) but its supposed to be coming on her birthday!!

the movie actually made me anxious because i had forgotten what happens in the animated movie but it was lovely, my sister said it was like watching her favourite movie again for the first time, my cousin said it almost made her shed a tear then said she had to lock in and sent a photo of the 'queen never cry' meme. overall 10/10 movie, I love fishlegs hes so me, Stoick and me had breif beef but we worked it out, Toothless reminds me of my dog Bailey who also likes to chase light/laser pointers while also reminding me of my cats as well. i saw it in 4DX with my grandma so it was admittedly funny to be shaking with sobs while the seat was blowing air in my ear and jostling me around 😭 my grandma LOVED IT she bought us matching t-shirts from hot topic beforehand and then after the movie i went to the bathroom and i came back out to find her on the phone raving to her sister about how cool it was. she had the best time in the world and so did i, i'm so glad you enjoyed it too!!

stoick and everyone else was meaner than they felt in the animated ones?? i didn't like that tbh. i already have a hard time forgiving everyone in the first movie (especially bc of how they switch back up on him during 3/homecoming) and the live action one made them even meaner to him. but they did add some context which made things a little more understandable, i guess. i did of course love stoick. he and i are always friends i love that guy <3

they definitely made toothless more canine in this one!!! i know that's everyone's gripe with the third movie is that he goes from being very feline in the first one to very canine in the second/third but i think within the animated movies it's because he's LOVED!!! he's domesticated and he's safe and he's loved so it makes sense that he'd be more playful and cheerful instead of constantly worrying about his next meal/who might be trying to hurt him. but this movie did it kind of right off the bat, he was excitedly panting a lot at the end like a dog would, and they had that whole 'who's a good boy' line thrown in that was not in the animated movies. it was cute though! overall i don't think it was better or worse, just a different portrayal of toothless (which could also be said about the animated movies to the books)

i think some of the current outrage is due to the fact that the mods/devs have been working on this/talking about it for at least 2 years now. the userbase also donates money not only for upkeep of the site but also so much to the same mods/devs when shit goes bad for them (not wrong for the mods/devs, shit happens and they cant help it, just more context)

and when the site theyve been talking about for actual years launches it is a shit show. parts of the behind the scenes that they didn't even know about from their host like what sort of drives the data was saved on, etc. idk they never asked their hosts and just assumed, which seems incredibly weird to me.

but i think the biggest thing has been one of the mods specifically and their attitude. i understand the frustration, i do. you have been making this things for two years for basically strangers, putting a lot of love and care, the point of knowing more about the code than the users who are complaining. but. theres been a good cop/bad cop thing going on where one gets incredibly rude to people doing support tickets or suggestions (not rude to all, but theres an underlying tension almost always), and then another mod/dev always has to come in and calmly explain or mediate.

and again, we are all strangers. at the end of the day the mods/devs ask for money and receive it despite us having no obligation, just because we care and want to help out, but then at the end of the day when we are asked for bug reports, suggestions, etc, we get a bunch of attitude or snark, or told to do it ourselves. we help and or do as requested, but then are treated as unreasonable if the comments or suggestion etc isnt what the team wants. which yknow if you aren't going to do it or don't agree then thats fine, but also you don't have to give attitude about it, and expect people to have questions as to why. not any less frustrating but you have to learn how to breathe or have another dev/mod step in from the getgo, or simply disengage for a bit

i think one of the big things about gen ai that differentiates it from inventions of the past that made things easier and more accessible isnt actually a thing about gen ai itself, but how people want to use it

basically all the big inventions of the past it gets compared to by people on board with the whole thing did their job perfectly. books contained information and plots or whatever you wanted and like, what more could you want from that? it's a book. calculators being wrong was an absurdly rare phenomenon. the internet connected people across the world, like yeah, it gets the job done. and digital art programs allowed you to draw digitally. like, they all did the job they were expected to do almost flawlessly.

i understood how gen ai worked when it first started blowing up, or at the very least i understood it more than its own investors did. so when that happened i could already see so many good uses for it once it was advanced enough. but like, it's literally just a thing that examines patterns without context and blurts out something resembling what it's analysed. that's cool, that could be used for something like a goofy dialogue based game where you can respond in any way you like. there was a vampire game that did that in the early days of ai, that was cool. and maybe it could be used to streamline animation somewhat, not do all the work for animators, certainly not, but there could be creative ways animators could use it.

but once it got advanced enough, everybody got so carried away with what it could be used for. suddenly the big guys up top wanted to use it to replace animators altogether, replace graphic designers, replace coders, replace everyone who can be. it was used to write commercial books, and eventually used to make entire websites, and entire youtube videos, and entire video games.

and this whole time im just thinking 'it can't be used to do most of that'. it could help in the process maybe, but all it fucking does is analyse shit and produce similar shit, it cant think, it cant see context, it cant differentiate fact from fiction or what looks right over what doesnt.

like just for example with video games, its games can be alright at first, but try adding stuff to the game and see how that turns out. it cant understand game design or intentionally innovate on genres, it cant pick apart good game mechanics from bad ones or know what works with what. but even if you instructed it on that, it can't tell what feels fun to play, so even if it may work alright on a very small scale, im sure you'd run into some design problems with certain larger scale projects. and that's not even talking about the code, because it doesn't actually understand what it's producing it won't be able to fix bugs. it could never analyse its own code to try figure out what's causing a bug, because its analysis lacks any context for what any of the code means. sure, maybe a human can jump in to try fix it, but any coders should know just how difficult that'd be with anything on a large scale. you'd have to try understand the code before fixing anything, and without anyone there to explain it to you, well good luck.

it's the same with so much more of these things. it could never make a whole animated series on its own without it being bizarre and inconsistent. why do you think that one ai coke ad never stuck on one shot for very long? you might be able to get some consistency by feeding it specific things, but you could never explain the context of a story to it, or the laws of physics, or character arcs.

i could go on about other stuff like writing and misinformation too, but i think you get the point, and all that's already been said before.

'advancements' could never fix this. this is a problem with the fundamentals of what generative ai is. using gen ai to write a whole book or make a whole game all by itself is like using a dishwasher to clean your clothes, it would do a job for sure but not a very good one. to fix this you'd need to invent a whole new kind of ai, and at that point you might as well be asking for flying cars and robot maids.

i dont have many problems with gen ai on its own, i genuinely think it could be very useful. but barely anyone is actually gonna use it well, because very little people seem to actually understand what it is, and as such try to overextend its uses by a lot.

to summarise, it's a very useful technology that's also very overhyped, promising far more than it can manage, and is rarely ever going to be used well as long as our society stays how it is.

Horikshi somehow managed to make mha more homophobic and worse than other shounens, its honestly impressive in a way. People often criticize shows like Naruto or Bleach but I dont remember those shows killing off queer characters to use them as tools to further a straight ship. I dont remember narrative shitting on Sasuke's character the way horikoshi treated Bakugo's character by leaving him like a doormat. All those talks abt Horikoshi supposedly being different and progressive for years went nowhere as he turned out to be shittier than even other shonen authors.

I mean, he just made Sasuke straight and told us to understand he is the happiest with a woman, I guess, so idk how thats not homophobic in comparison -im not saying it is directly; but I dont see how that would be better. I would have hated it if Katsuki was made to be with a woman or even giving advice to date one, tbh. There are multiple tropes that could be discussed in these conversations like the difference between bury your gays, queer coding and queer baiting, idk much about Naruto but I think it could fit the last category, as in the anime they added a kiss for fan service; I think in BNHA we have a clear use of bury your gays and queer coding or queer subtext.

The themes of BNHA are progressive, which is why it speaks to us -and we cant just say he is homophobic or directly conservative just bc of 431. While yeah the treatment of the villains was really, really disappointing, and unfair considering the themes, I dont think it means this is good -tbh it felt more like he wanted to give it a bittersweet type of ending in a harsh way, as the characters are not happy with this situation. On another hand, Katsuki's treatment was strange, but he is also a character he uses to break the 4th wall many times in the series, so to make him smile and be happy in 431 would feel unnatural to who he is; he is the one telling us "hey things arent all happy and alright, the protagonist isnt satisfied with this kind of life", and that could be interesting if they actually planned to expand on it. His feelings are so different from 430, that it cant leave us feeling like things are okay even if the extra happened. Or at least I like to see it that way!

But we cant accuse him of being directly homophobic for not making Katsuki straight -he is queer coded at least from my perspective, and we know he wasn't "punished" for 431 (if they wanted to punish him, the previous chapters dont give that impression, making him all cool and sympathetic; the best way to do it would be to just make him regress into being an asshole and unhappy in my opinion). We already know their bond is way stronger than izuku's and ochako's, there's this post unrelated to this but which discusses how in Japanese language you dont have to reaffirm bonds and feelings as it depends on context clues, the history between the characters, etc, and it makes me wonder if maybe thats just what happened -we already know they are the closest to each other, and in fact had it spelled out multiple times thru the series, while izuku and ochako dont really have much developed in their friendship. Making them not really talk in 8 years is also an interesting choice -kinda means this is the only way they could make these characters have a "moment" together. If they kept talking like previously, there would be no scene like this, bc they would be good friends -so, if they really wanted to make this homophobic, making this clearly romantic + bkdk not interact in any meaningful way was one of the ways to go. However, instead, we have the confirmation that Katsuki does yearn for Izuku and worries about him, and that Izuku is clueless to these feelings while he also wants to improve the communication between them.

So, to add on to Navi's post, because her whole read for the original was getting screenshots from the game to debunk what was said, of course....we are now here. I want to tell you that no one here disagreed with your conclusion about Ganondorf being a victim. What we here disagreed with was the method you used to get there. Simplifying Ganondorf down to solely good or solely evil is something this Fandom does all the time with little to no nuance. And even though you have written an eloquent essay, Published even! You twisted or outright made up parts of the game to get to your conclusion. In essay writing, that's called a logical fallacy, and the whole essay either twists what happens in the game or outright gets it wrong.

Now people are probably gonna wonder why I'm treating this like a big deal or why I'm speaking so blunt, because this is by all means very stupid fandom drama.

But I think when you're a college prof and you get an essay published and it's online for people to read everywhere without you, one, not giving the context behind Ganondorf's creation and the coding of his appearance and motivations, two the complexities of a corporate conglomerate in a notoriously socially conservative country taking aesthetics from countries who were historically colonized. And Three, The way that video games are a collaborative effort with usually no singular vision, this is very true at nintendo despite what people may think, and at any moment changes can be made for any reason by team leads or executives that would hinder or even hurt a story. It detrimental to the audience reading it that you do not provide them more of a couple of screenshots

Basically, many things go into a story and now I'm taking this more from a DOYLIST view right here talking about Nintendo. But I'm doing this because you keep trying to say..... well fuck man do I need to pull up more examples? Navi got them all, the whole essay is you trying HEAVILY to imply that Nintendo MEANT to do all of this, as in intentional in the story, idk I feel crazy, words have meaning, specific wording has implication, oh and this dosent even get into how localization can change things 😃😀 wording has meaning and sometimes translators don't have cultural contexxxtttttttt and to not even mention about Nintendo's history or even the short hand that comes from Ganondorf's design and the historical Orientalism behind it feels like a disservice to the paper, but much more qualified people then I have discussed the way Ganondorf is written and probably would love to discuss or link to previous writing again if asked.

And this is a cold take but Nintendo isn’t the place you should be looking to for deep story telling, they will always be a corporate entity first and the bottom line is a general audience, this does not mean JUST KIDS this means to a generalized population. And this is extremely cynical but a lot of people cant even handle the complexity of a female character who is mean, like Midna, do you really think people would handle a Ganondorf like how he is in Tp being portrayed in any form of film language as good????? This game dropped 5 years after 9/11, Nintendo was never gonna lose out in money like that.

And Dude people have given so much shit to HUGE fanartists and comic authors about their work portraying Ganondorf in a sympathetic light, you would of thunk more people would of picked up on Ganondorf's story being written as tragedy if there was something in the game that actually DID that. Maybe they would of written a blog post about how Midna saw Link kill Ganondorf and was ashamed of that or Ganondorf TOTALLY said the history of light and shadow will be written in blood thing before the final battle, you think people would of talked about huh why did Ganondorf say that there or something and maybe went 🤔 instead of it being argued that Tp Ganondorf had the weakest writing of the series until TotK threw a pile of flaming shit at my door with a picture of Ganondorf on it.

At the end of Twilight Princess, Ganondorf delivers one of his most memorable lines, “The history of light and shadow will be written in blood.” He is not wrong. As the player has witnessed over the course of Link’s adventure, Hyrule is haunted by ruins and ghost towns, a mere shadow of what it once was. The landscape is filled with numerous sites of past violence and empty spaces visibly marked by decay and wasted potential.

When Zelda tells Link and Midna that “these dark times are the result of our deeds,” she is referring to specific historical acts of imperialistic aggression. Hyrule established hegemony over its outlying territories by crushing the rebellions against its advances, but the kingdom has suffered from cultural stagnation as a result. Without the dynamic diversity symbolized by Ganondorf, Hyrule finds itself in economic and political decline, isolated from any contact with the world beyond its shrinking borders.

As a representative of a marginalized group of people who have been attacked and driven from their homes, Ganondorf is a tangible manifestation of the horrors of imperialism. He must be defeated, but doing so does not address the underlying problems that have resulted in Hyrule’s decline. I therefore want to argue that Twilight Princess uses Ganondorf to deliver a subtle yet poignant protest against the discourses of empire reflected by the dualistic “light and shadow” rhetoric of heroism that has resulted in tragedy and regret.
