hello! i have a question, but i dont quite know how to word it….

i like listening to people’s thoughts on hxh, because sometimes its difficult to collect my own thoughts and hearing others articulate it helps me form my own analysis. usually it clears up confusions on narrative choices, however this thing still confuses me because ive seen lots of meta which sometimes conflict with each other or infos from the show. maybe i missed something?

i dont want to link anybody because i dont want to “call them out” but its a frequent opinion ive come across, so not one person. but what i hear sometimes goes along the lines of: gon vowed to sacrifice everything to defeat pitou -> killua arrives -> despite going through with his jajanken, killua’s presence causes gon to realize he doesnt actually want at all to sacrifice everything and the vow is broken (causing him to lose his nen when he recovers from the physical toll)

i really love this reading. the scene where gon turns to killua right before the screen goes white has always been impactful and seemed important to me for reasons i cant explain. but i’m reluctant to adopt it because the way i understood the nen vow was that it was actually a condition—that gon would only use this power to kill pitou, and then per the “rules” he would lose everything as equivalent exchange when pitou was defeated. and that the reason why his nen was lost was because nanika healed him as he was—which was nen-lost. but the show mentions vows and conditions in conjunction so much sometimes the difference gets muddled in my brain, so i suppose im confused about that as well.

i guess im just asking your thoughts on killua and gon’s love for him potentially being the thing to cause gon’s vow/condition to break. i think its a really sweet idea but im not sure if the mechanics of what exactly gon did to kill pitou support it

Hello! Great question!

So, my way of understanding it is that Gon traded all of his nen potential (meaning all of his nen he had at that time and all of the nen he would have ever had in the future) in order to achieve his adult form and have enough power to kill Pitou. By the time he had achieved that form, he was already doomed to have no nen once he used up the massive but finite amount he had, which was his whole lifetime worth. Like taking out a loan on the full amount of money you'll ever make in your lifetime and then burning it all, but more abstract because it's not money.

It very well may have killed him as well, if not for Killua arriving. Think of the cost to his body to unnaturally achieve that form and use that much nen, which is what Killua recoils at realizing when he sees Gon in that form. I'm sure this is why he ended up as such a withered husk afterwards.

Killua showing up definitely saved him, however, both because he helped him dodge Pitou's Terpsichora and in a more far-reaching emotional sense as well. I think when Killua arrived and called his name that final time, it made Gon realize that he wasn't just giving up his own future--he was giving up his future with Killua as well, and by giving up his life it was going to destroy Killua and leave him alone. Gon had steeled himself to die prior to this, but looking back at Killua's face, his expression entirely changes, softens. As a result, I think Gon holds back a bit with his final Rock and preserves himself just enough to keep his body going. Then Nanika heals Gon's body, but this doesn't undo the nen contract he made--even though his body fully recovers, he did still give up all his nen potential, after all.

(I'm very sorry for posting these pages, know that it breaks my heart to look at them.)

So, the way I see the scene, it's less about the mechanics of it, as that's relatively straightforward. Gon losing his nen was already set when he decided he wanted to give it all up in order to be strong enough to defeat Pitou. It's more about how Killua reaching Gon impacted him emotionally and made him hold back to the degree he could at the very end. Because at that final moment Killua was able to reach him at last--by saying his name, an echo of other scenes in the arc with Meruem and Komugi.

I absolutely think the intent of that scene is that Killua has become Gon's light and saved him--by showing Gon that he wasn't alone, that there was someone else worth living for, that Killua cares about him and doesn't want to lose him. Gon lost sight of that previously amid his trauma and guilt, but in that final moment, he truly sees Killua's horror and pain at what he's doing, and Gon realizes he doesn't want to leave Killua behind forever. Gon manages to barely survive as a result.

SLENDERMAN:

i think he might be a little behind on the tradition... so you might have to fill him in...! i think once he gets an understanding of the holiday he tries to do something for you! i think he would pick flowers from around the forest for you ! so be prepared for that! but if you have an allergy or arent really a flower person, then i think he might find you a collection of cool rocks... maybe he even carves something from wood for you! dont forget picnics, too! i think he would take this as a moment to remind you how much he loves you... its not often that he verbalizes how much he values you.... well verbalize in terms of speaking in your head... but...! 8/10 hes my wife your honor!

SPLENDORMAN:

unlike his brother he DOES know what the holiday is and just know hes going to get this huge picnic set up for you! he cant exactly go out and buy you anything (actually... most of these characters cant....) so i think he might make you something! a handmade gift! isnt that nice! might give you a flower crown as well... i think he would try his hand at making the food for the picnic, i think unlike slender he can handle digesting human food... okayish... be it because he built a tolerance or because hes built different... shrugs... gives you a bouquet of sun flowers and makes the day about YOU... he would appreciate a gift, but hes not going to give you flack for not getting him anything 8/10 i love him too i wish i wrote for him more

honestly given that he lives in a cabin in the woods with like. zero ties to the outside world, he kind of loses his sense of time... kind of just relies off of the weather changing through the year to gauge what month it is... and even then that can only be so accurate... no youre probably going to have to remind him or drop some hints... kind of panics at first... i think he would offer to do some services for you (not like that) such as doing some work around your place, or cooking for you... but that doesnt mean much when he already kind of does that... hmmm.... offers to take you out to watch the stars, you guys end up exchanging stories... maybe if you ask nicely, he might come out with you to the streets and stroll around with you after everyone else has gone to bed... i dont think he really does... big gestures... 7/10 i still love him too and tbh my ass wouldnt mind not getting a huge gesture or gift

masky does know about the holiday, for the most part, usually from media and commercials, though... im still a little eh on how i write masky and hoodie in general but shhhh. i dont think he would see it as much of a big deal, though... but he can kind of see it being a big deal to you, if it is of course. i think he would just bluntly try to ask you what you want. no beating around the bush with this one... doesnt expect anything in return nor does he want anything... but i dont think he would deny you if you wanted to spoil him... 6/10 i love me a straight forward king

as for tim i think he might try to put some more romance into his attempt and try to surprise you... might cook you dinner and decorate the place to look fancy, since i dont think he would like going out to some fancy restaurant... gives you flowers, too... doesnt ask for anything in return either but his eyes do light up a little when you get him something, bonus if its not your typical valentines gift and its something thats more relevant and practical in the long run 6.5/10

HOODIE/BRIAN:

i think i can see hoodie being a little more playful in this scenario, but not by much... hes not at emotionally distant as masky is, but hes still not easy to read. i think he would make you something... maybe its because i see brian being into art and its bleeding into how i interpret hoodie, but i think he would paint you something... or maybe he tries to set up a little movie date for you two! makes a pillow fort to surprise you, too.. very nice, very calm night.. you guys stay up all night together. he refuses to fall asleep before you... 7/10

between the two if im going to go with the artist hc brian is the better artist and is generally more confident in his ability to make something that looks pleasing to the sight orbs. be it a portrait or something based around one of your interests, hes going to be working for weeks in advance trying to perfect it... i think he might also try to take you out for dinner, too. i can see brian being a bit of a romantic sap, probably plays your guys's songs while you're driving around town together 9/10 i would actually cry personally

TICCI TOBY:

between being on the run for krilling his dad and for burning his neighborhood down + working for slenderman toby isnt around often... but he does try to still make time for you, especially when theres holidays going on! hell, he still tries to come over when its saint pattys day. he doesnt care if he doesnt have green, hes still going to go check in on you. so hands down hes going to be there for you... though i dont think he would be able to offer you anything... so you two hanging out will have to suffice. while its not traditional to give your friends anything for valentines (which i think is bs, i like giving my friends candy and homemade goods) he might... just try to go shoplift some chocolate... please talk him out of it... 6/10 its a cool hang out, you guys probably watch movies and catch up!

I cannot spawn or give/spawn/materialize things for/to Spamton if you ask because of the way it’s set up. You are really just lines of text from a computer to Spamton, BUT... Your words and your actions affect him and his reactions to you, so word it correctly and you can get him to do something or say something. [YGM!] is technically an AU!!! not only do the events of the game not occur, but this is also set before then!

Asks are put out one a day, regardless if i have more than one, UNLESS i need to connect two(or more) to complete one event.

I wont be consistent with the way its answered. Sometimes it's one panel, sometimes its a couple panels, or sometimes they're animated gifs!! It varies depending on what i feel, so if youre lucky you can get a gif, lol. Those take longer usually though. Ive mostly switched to a gif formatting rather than multiple panels in a comic style, for the formatting! The animation quality can vary :-)

Onyankopon was extremely toxic, no matter how many times he loved bombed you after arguments that he knew he had the wrong in, or fucked you until you forgave him, it was undeniable that he was toxic. It all started after a long day of work, the hospital bustling since it was the night before Halloween. People did stupid things all the time but man the shit you saw that night was just absurd, on top of that you had a nail appointment as soon as your shift ended, so there shouldn’t have been a surprise when you stumbled into your apartment complex forty five minutes past eleven with a pounding headache, and a desire for comfort from your boyfriend after the traumatic night you had.

The soft sound of your light switch filled the empty apartment, a linen colored light illuminated the kitchen and living room, the purple crocs you kicked off flipped them selves over at the door. Throwing the keys on the counter and washing your hands, you couldn’t help but rest your head in them. You love your job, but its so tiring.. every day it feels like the world is moving at one hundred miles per hour and you cant catch up. Tears no longer threatened to spill, they were overflowing. You sobbed, headache worsening, heart aching from the stress and the pain, however your sobs drowned out the vibration from your phone which was forgotten after you took your shirt off, and threw it on your living room floor. A trail of scrubs were left behind leading to the bathroom, as you turned the shower on, not even waiting for the water to heat up and hopped in. Practically washing yourself in your tears, you placed your head on the wet wall next to you, going light headed from the steam, you felt drained.. so empty, and you needed a hug, so that’s what you decided to get. The water was stopped and the floor dampened after coming in contact with your wet feet, the robe you put on felt warm, it’s the closest thing to human touch that you’ve felt in a while, and the shower really did help you feel better. After a good cry, you decided to postmates some food and call your best friend Jayleen to see if she wanted to come over and watch some shows and eat and cry with you, but you were met with 28 missed calls from your boyfriend, and over 50 text messages. Great. You didn’t call him after work to tell him you got home late, and considering that he loved to make shit what it wasn’t, you know that he would have your ass in the morning, and honestly it was too much. He isn’t your father and he clocks your every move.

A sigh escaped your lips as you grabbed a cold bottle of water and let that problem wait for tomorrow and it’s own set of troubles. That was until three sudden thumps hit your door, making you jump, water bottle falling out of your hands. “The fuck banging on my shit so late” you complained cleaning up the mess as your headache settled back in. Clothes still on the floor, you opened the door to face with your “man”. The darkskin in an all black nike tech suit, and yeezy slides had his arms folded over his chest, hoodie up and durag on, only showing a portion of his head, but his dark and angry eyes met yours. Swap AU:

Angel Dust does get called into the studio for work, but he only does one shoot per month. He's actually filling Valentino and Alastor on what Vox, Husker, and Charlie are up too. Thanks to Angel, all of Valentino's workers get a 250 dollar raise because of the pictures and coat he managed to grab for Alastor.

Alastor's Shadow is under strict instructions not to leave Vox's side, no matter what. Vox only really knows it's there when it decides it's board of playing at being a regular Shadow. Which usually happens when Vox is at the hotel, doing paperwork.

Vox's Geotia is related to Stolas! He's a nephew via Paimon. He's been to almost all of Octavia's Bday parties.

Valentino and Vox technically remote when Vox rescues both Charlie and Angel Dust when Charlie interrupts a shoot and catches everything on fire. Before Valentino can put it out, Alastor appears and shit nearly hits the fan(--he murders and devours the remaining camera crew, and cast except Angel, Charlie and Val) before Vox himself appears.

Vox just appearing immediately calms the radio demon down, his form returning to the one everyone recognizes as he gently moves towards Vox, a dark possessiveness in his eyes.

Vox tells Charlie to grab Angel and go, now he'll be right behind them, and Alastor chuckles, purring softly. "Will you, darling?" He asks, voice smooth. "Just this once I'll let you go. But next time I have you in my hand like this....you'll be mine, Vox. Mine and mine alone. Now go."

There are many perceptible forms of love, but her love was like a rose; it was beautiful and distinctive, but when you touched it, the horns bled within your fingertips. She was the stars that only appeared at night, a dream that you could only vaguely remember after you opened your eyes. 

Yet you held onto her tight till the wounds left scars within your fingers, willing to stay awake at night just to see her glimmer into your eyes. the dream you’d always sleep on just to remember a piece of her.

You loved her like leather jacket, wore her in the cold and in the fall, in the rain or any other day. She was something you never wanted to lose or ever take off. But the more you did love her, the more the leather ripped off, ever bits of its skin wither and the color became dull.

But despite that, you cant seem to really let go of her, you never did. But at some point time will be the one to forcefully take away what was once yours.

It really did hurt, seeing her shine in the stage or the smile she once only gave to you, was now given to millions of people who admired her the way you admired her.

Love did hurt, but it was a pain you choose to inflict in your body. The pain that stayed with you as you secretly watch her preform in many award shows or in concerts you attended just to see her do what she always loved to do.

Sometimes, you secretly wished she gazed at your direction, but that was only a wishful thinking, it was impossible not when abundance of people covered your figure.

you heart still mourned for her, no matter how much you ignored the aching, it got worst. People say time will heal, but it never did when it came to her.

so you waste every paper on her, attended every performance her group had, it was an addiction that even doctors had no cure for.

you accepted it that the love you both had will never return again. So the only choice you had was, to love her from afar.

You were there for them since their debut, you were there for her ever since she had the spotlight focused on her.

hearing their new song “OMG” play, you held back a smile watching her preform, she was always a good dancer and a singer, it was no doubt she'd have all of eyes looking at her.

And as usual you'd keep hidden to avoid meeting her eyes, it wouldn’t end well.

The song was amazing as you imagined it to be, up beat and romantic. You loved her, but seeing her smile and glisten on the stage, you knew, you knew that your love can never overtake the love she had for her dreams. All this time, you were driven to loving her you never realized it became selfish, it wasn’t fair for her, but now you knew.

It took one glance at her, to make you fully accept it, you shouldn’t hold back someone to achieve something that makes them happy, even if it meant it wouldn’t go the way you want it to be.

They exit out of stage, per usual you'd leave before she'd even notice your presence but this time you stayed a little longer in the crowd one last time, so that after this you'd finally let go of everything.

Everyone began going home, you slightly grimace not seeing her in the crowded fan that gathered around the group, but maybe it was for the best you thought.

You exit the building sloppily walking, staring at the pavement frowning as you kicked the pebble off the floor.

You suddenly heard hurried steps, making you glance up, it was too late as the person bumped into you, making you stumble backwards as they follow suit.

You hear her yelp, as you held their waist to keep balance with their arms leaning on your chest.

Both of you fall, your butt hitting the floor hard making you wince at the pain, while the person being on top of you, your eyes closed groaning.

"Oh my guar, are you okay?" A feminine voice spoke in a heavy accent.

Wait a minute.

You flutter your eyes open, and on cue her eyes focused on yours too, both of you looked at each other with the same wide eye expression.

You stared back at her dyed hair, it looked pretty, it added more beauty to her face. She looked just the way you imagined her to be.

“I… should get going, it was nice meeting you.”

The thump in your heart became louder, each passing moment, so you took a few steps away fearing that she might hear it.

You stiffly waved at her glistening doe eyes before turning your back on her.

Your footsteps echo on the empty road, each one a bit heavier.

“It was tiring.”

“It was tiring to be so apart from you. And no matter how long it’s been.. there are still times when I think of you and suddenly it gets harder to breathe. Being so apart from you made me realize, losing you was harder than I thought.’’

Hearing that nickname come out of your lovely lips made her happy. Dani rushed up to you, clutching you tightly, she missed this, she missed your perfume, your warmth, she missed you.

Toying with yet another AU besties because I'm plagued by visions.

Autism just enters hyperdrive sometimes and demands I put my blorbos in even more situations. Rn I'm playing with a vampire hunter AU, something dark and with a bit of angst as per usual.

Emduo being hunters and then one of them (maybe Techno) getting bit and turned. Obviously Phil is absolutely devastated. He's a pretty mean hunter and takes a bit too much joy in killing already but he cant imagine having to put his friend down.

But thats exactly what he needs to do and Techno's asking him to do it. This is where meanza gets shaken up into a more skrunkly form.

Maybe he decides to keep Techno at his house for a few days, just giving him some comfort before eventually having to put him down, Tech kinda settles for it because who wouldnt want things to be normal again so that you can be comfortable before your bestie / father figure kills you because you got bit.

Toss in him getting bit because he was protecting Phil and its even more fun.

Anyway Phil is trying to hype himself up for it but Techno's so easy to just delay and put off that he kinda falls into the groove of things. He gets it in his head that maybe he doesnt have to kill his friend, maybe he can just keep him locked and hidden away.

He brings this up and Techno is obviously not really down for this but they're both desperate and neither really want him to die so they totally start actually thinking about it.

They 'hypothetically' talk it out a few times before Tech stats going downhill a bit. He's not being fed and he has no sire around so stuff isnt fun. Phil panics and goes off to get a vampire. He drags them back and lets Techno feed off of them and its a bit better.

The venom in the blood is just enough to sustain him. This form of vampirism would be less complex than AFN's since otherwise Techno would probably just die because theyre both clueless. So instead its a very watered down version.

Anyway things progress like that for a while and Phil has to bring in actual human bodies for Techno to feed on. He gets over it very quickly but Techno doesnt and usually has to be convinced to actually feed.

Obviously after some time Techno latches onto Phil as his sire despite him not even being a vampire and his morals slip a bit too.

In the end we get dark emduo and its very fun.

I had another one in mind where Phil gets bit instead but because he has spent so long on the field he knows how to take care of himself, Techno is very skrunkly and along for the ride in that one too.

Just clings to his bestie and helps cover stuff up while Phil (a bit too eagerly) starts doing his vampire bullshit. It totally ends in Phil biting him and turning him as well.

-All things considered, Marinette's Hero life is not in as much jeopardy, in fact in season one its arguable that Alya made things harder.

-Ladybug is popular, but info about ladybug outside of Paris is limited, there is no consolidated place for information on whats what. Probably a few pockets on the internet, but no official blogs.

-Marinette's personal life is a bit more rocky. She never told her supposed best friend Lila she's Ladybug. In fact, Lila seems more envious of Ladybug than liking her. She cant tell Lila that SHE like Adrien, because Lila likes adrien.

-Thats when we get into Volpina,

-Adrien finds the book like in Canon, and takes it with him. Meanwhile things are relatively calm. Adrien isnt helping lila since she has been in school since the beginning of the year.

-Marinette finds herself helping the new girl around, Alya Cesaire. She is joining the class, and since Marinette is class rep, it would make sense she had that responsibility. Alya shows herself as quite a nice person and Marinette and her get along really well. Alya complimenting her style.

-Chloé tried to mess with them, but Alya showed she stands her ground just like in canon, with a heroine analogy as well. So thats a plus. They bond pretty quick.

-Of course Lila is calling marinette for something, which Alya notices the strained look on Marinette's face.

-"You okay?"

-"Yea, its just my friend needs something. I should get it to her."

-Alya asks if this is a common trend, but Marinette denies it... it is. It was after a bit that Marinette realizes that she is acting more like an underling than a friend.

-Marinette decides to ignore the call, she is having a fun time with the new girl, if its important than Lila can call again.

-Lila had been rocking a new look, something Marinette had made, and wanted Marinette's help to put the finishing touches. She was planning on asking adrien out.

-Of course, she notices Adrien is absentmindedly looking through a book.

-She sneaks a peek and notices that the pictures look very similar to a certain heroine of Paris.

-But before Lila could go forward asking adrien out. In his rush to get to fencing he agreed to meet her after school... he left the book.

-Marinette managed to finish showing Alya around, right as Lila arrived, focused on her own idea she ignored Alya to tell Marinette what she needed.

-"You want a necklace like that... what is this book?"

-Alya also took a look and noticed some similarities between the book and heroes of paris she heard of.

-Lila managed to shoot some lie about being super close with Ladybug halfhazardly, and Alya thought that was cool, but Marinette knew was a lie but was focused on the book.

-"So can you make it or not?"

-Tikki was watching, and whispered to Marinette to say yes. Surprised by tikki's insistance she went with it.

-Lila asked how long it would take, and Marinette said she wasnt sure, but that she needed the book as reference.

-Lila smiled and left, telling her to try and finish before end of school day.

-After leaving Alya told Marinette that Lila may know Ladybug but she didnt seem that nice.

-"What do you mean?" Marinette more focused on the book, didnt notice Lila's usual harshness.

-Alya told Marinette the honest truth, which Marinette did sort of understand but with her mind focused on leaving to see what tikki wanted with the book. Said that they could talk later.

-Alya decided that SHE would confront Lila about her treatment of Marinette.

-Marinette takes the book to Fu immediately as per Tikki's instruction. Missing school. But Lila covered for her since she believed Marinette was making her necklace.

-Marinette learns about Fu's backstory and Helps him make copies of the book. Because she needs to get it back to Lila. Though she did wonder how she got the book.

-After school, Lila realizes there is no Marinette in sight and she is ignoring her calls. So she grumbles and Buys a necklace thats... Close enough for her plan.

-Alya investigating Lila after the odd behavior. She is the one that confronts Lila before her interaction with Adrien.

-Lila tries to spin it but Alya knows whats up, she is trying to pretend to be a heroine. And Lila decides okay, enough nice girl.

-Lila threatens to destroy Alya's school life. Turn everyone against her. She would be alone, the weird hero obsessed new girl.

-Alya felt stunned and hurt. And in her frustration Yanked the fox necklace away from Lila, telling her that she isnt letting her have her way.

-Hawkmoth notices and finds he has an interesting new victim.

Day 2: A Hermit Hollow Ficlet

@majickth hello again! I figured I'd try my hand at a style that you've been going for with the ficlets. I'll admit, it was a bit of a challenge, because I'm not used to writing in first person. But I did my best, and I did a thing! I'm actually kinda proud of it! I'll be mixing ficlets with this style, and my usual writing format, just to keep things interesting! Enjoy!

Scarland is a rickety old building, definitely a scam. Everything about it lives and breathes "Scam". Though, I suppose that's part of its charm. At least the owner certainly thinks so. I'm not desperate but,,, oh who are you kidding, Grian. Yes you are. I just need the money. That's all.

Scar welcomed me into the shop with a bright smile. The cat followed behind me for a while, before curling herself up near the back, by a curtain.

"What's back there?" I asked once Scar was done talking.

He looked back at the curtain, his grin brightening as he grabbed my arm a bit roughly and tugged me forward.

"Only the best psychic this side of the Hollow!" He declared proudly as he shoved the curtain aside unceremoniously. The fortune teller sat in a booth, and looked not unlike your stereotypical psychic. Scarves and gold and crystal balls. All bullshit, I think.

She seemed startled out of her... sleep? Trance? I couldn't quite tell. For a split second, and I might just need new glasses, I saw a tuft of fur under the scarf. She was quick to fix it and look up at me with a wry smile. Her teeth looked pointed, and her eyes had a cat-like quality to them.

"Hello, child.." her voice sounded odd. Almost like she was trying to fake it, sound older than she was. "Have you come to get your fortune read?"

"I- not really-" I tried to say, but Scar cut me off.

"Oh come on, where's your sense of fun! Go on, give him a read, Mary!"

"Mary" beckoned me over with a.. hand? Paw? "Yes, yes, come child. Let Mystic Mary see what the future has in store for you. Give me your hand."

I rolled my eyes. I couldn't help it. But I held my hand out to her. She took it in both.. I'm almost 90% sure those were paws, was she some kind of cat? Either way, I gave her my hand, and she looked into her crystal ball. Red smoke faded into view, and she stared harder. I stood there, unamused for a few seconds more. Then I heard her gasp.

"Oh... oh dearie me.." she whispered. "That- that cant be good.." she gripped my hand tighter. "I fear you, young man, are in terrible danger.."

"Uh-huh..." I rolled my eyes again. I felt something sharp poke my hand. Yep. Those were claws. Great.

"You have a sister who lives here.." how did she know that? "If not for your sake or mine, for hers. Stay safe.. I fear you're in grave danger.."

I carefully took my hand away and left, but that conversation stayed in my head that whole night. What did she mean danger?

Curiosity got the better of me. It always does, doesn't it? I stayed behind to hear Scar and "Mystic Mary" talking.

"Did you really not see anything, Lizzie?" so Mystic Mary was a fake. I knew it.

"Yes! There was nothing there, nothing but... a- a glowing eye.."

"You don't think..."

"They've already found him..."

Okay, back up. Who's "they"?
