i've been talking abt my voltron playlists and @iveofficiallygonemad asked to hear them and i want to share with anybody who wants!! i know they're not perfect, i'm working on them & trying to make them better. if you have any recommendations for any of them, let me know!! there's like A Lot and i want to give a lil explanation for most of them, so i'm putting them under the cut ^-^

SO first i have my favorite one <3 it's just. all of them. it's the whole team. it's a mess and it's a bunch of different genres because it's them fighting over the aux cord on a road trip. it's them trying to make each other laugh or annoy each other or play something catchy enough it will infect everyone in the vicinity with brain worms.

Hunk: i'm pretty happy with my Hunk playlist! chill vibes. he strikes me as the kind of guy who listens to calm music to try to find his own calm, and that's what i got here :)

Pidge: this is messier and less cohesive than my usual playlist because frankly i think pidge would have a shit taste in music. all over the board. this is a mix of meme songs and 8-bit covers and vocaloid and stuff that i think pidge would genuinely connect with, and i think pidge listens to all their music on shuffle without any regards for genre or mood because they're a gremlin. nobody gives pidge sole control of the aux.

Coran hears 80's music for the first time and loses his mind. He thinks ABBA is humanity's single greatest achievement.

Lance: i have ideas about where I'm going with this but haven't really settled yet. Lance seems like the kind of boy that loves to dance (is that canon? i forgot) so most of these are Bops That Make You Move in some way or another. he likes to present an upbeat face to the world, so there's no angsting in this playlist! we are clinging to the things that make us happy with both hands until our knuckles turn white!

Keith: i'm gonna be honest. i made him a playlist but i honestly don't think he cares about music very much. it's very important to some people! he's just not one of them! i haven't cracked this playlist open in a while but i'm pretty sure it's full of songs that i think he would conceivably train/work out to.

Shiro: this playlist involves the dumbest headcanon i have for shiro that has just not left me alone since i first thought of it. most of the playlist reflects the fact that he had an emo phase in middle school (that one isn't a headcanon, you just have to look at him to know) but BUT there are a few songs on here that are on here because. little known fact. he also went through a Twilight phase that he told nobody about. (keith knows. keith was there.) he has the entire twilight soundtrack memorized. he moved past the story but the music stays forever. he used to daydream about slow dancing to Flightless Bird, American Mouth. the first time Coran mentions that they have to avoid a place because there's a supermassive black hole there, he has to bite his tongue in order to keep a straight face. do NOT ask me why i believe this so wholeheartedly.

Allura's playlist sucks right now. I think it's because in my heart of hearts i know that, were she on earth today, she would go fucking nuts for taylor swift. i have ambivalent feelings for taylor swift. i cannot do allura justice like this. if you see my vision and have recs as to what might actually fit her, PLEASE.

Klance: i haven't done it yet but i'm gonna go through this and sort it to be a sort of progression of their relationship, starting with the more combative Rivalry songs, then slipping into "oh shit oh shit" songs, then maybe ending on the more lighthearted purely romantic songs <3

HEAVILY depends on the trigger in question, the op, and the theme and context of op's page. There's also a right and wrong way to say it.

E.g. I run a rat blog. It's just rats, all rats, wholly centered on rats. Rats have funny tails, almost scaly-looking with a peach fuzz glow.

I could understand somebody being squicked out enough by it to avoid seeing rat tails.

But if they asked me to trigger tag rat tails, well... I could try, but that would be 95% of what goes on my blog and... at that point, it's probably best for the person to unfollow me.

I would fail to keep rat tails off that person's dash. I know my adhd ass. I couldn't keep up with tagging almost every post with a content warning for itself.

Of course I would want to-- I'd want Tail Squick to be able to bathe in the bliss of rats just like the rest of us... but tails just. come with rats

Tails are unavoidable on rats. If you don't want to see a prominent feature of rats, it's best not to follow a rat blog.

But I sure shouldn't go "no I won't do that<3" either.

Rather, I'd wanna say that I do not think I can do that due diligence, that I should not be trusted to do so. They can better keep themself safe from seeing rat tails by not having me on their dash because I would fuck up very often and put rat tails on their dash.

Another example: the word "queer"

"Queer" is not a slur and shouldn't be treated like one. Some people are upset by it, and it's okay to trigger tag it for them, just not as a slur.

I would feel for somebody who asked me to trigger tag q word or something. But I know that I wouldn't be able to fulfill it. I reblog queer stuff all the time because being queer is important to me.

It's not feasible for me to do the due diligence because of how much there is. I know myself-- I would forget constantly. It's best for someone who wants to avoid the word "queer" to not follow me, because I'm not conducive to avoiding it.

I would also Feel Some Kinda Way about having to blacklist my own identity (which is plenty erased) for someone. This is as much a "me" thing as being triggered by the word queer is a "them" thing.

We're both fully understandable and deserving of safe spaces, but our safe spaces aren't compatible. My safety is your danger, and your safety is my danger. We are best spending our time in our spaces that are separate from one another.

Best not to follow a queer person if the word queer causes issues for you, y'know?

Just... sometimes our safe spaces are not compatible with one another, and that's okay -- that's not a reflection of anybody's moral character -- and it should be okay for us to accept that we are in separate spaces and carry on separately, no animosity.

maybe im just, like, numb to all of this by now, but i really cant stand all the covid discourse all the time. yes, they should be wearing masks whenever possible, but like, really, theyre nowhere NEAR the worst offenders. la county covid cases are pretty stable right now, afaik everyone there is vaccinated, and at least one, but probably several, are testing daily- look at that compared to concerts happening, or the literally thousands of schools open right now with hundreds of students, no mask rules or ones that arent enforced, no testing, etc... i just think its kind of pointless to obsess over some strangers having pretty small, maskless, vaccinated gatherings when there are absolutely muuuch bigger fish to fry out there

Like, again, I'm not telling them what to do or in their DMs demanding shit from them. I'm not likely to even stop watching them from this; I very much wouldn't call myself "obsessed" - I've got a great many more important things to care about than what are effectively some random-ass people. But I still think it's well within my right to criticize and I don't think it's ridiculous to do so; wearing masks really is the bear minimum and even if what they're doing is a slap in the face versus some other people/groups stabbing the general public in the gut, I'd still rather people not be slapped (metaphorically). Small gatherings don't mean anything when it's so many different groups and so many places, etc etc (I'm sure you're sick of the schpeal - I'll spare you).

I am sorry you can't stand it though. My tag is "covidtalk" if you wanna blacklist (I figured way back at the first party that some people wouldn't wanna go on Tumblr and be forced to think about COVID considering everything irl lol) but that doesn't help the more widespread discussion and I know that it can be a bit... draining (?). Hey, would it be possible for you to tag all your hockey related posts with a certain tag? I keep adding names to my blacklist but posts are still coming through cause you tag it all differently. I DON'T mean this rudely (really not), I'm just trying to keep my dash organized and it's getting cluttered with stuff I have no interest in. I really don't wanna unfollow you. I totally understand not sharing the hockey enthusiasm; it’s a bit of a new thing for me too

I think the tag ‘pittsburgh penguins’ should catch, like, 97% of all things hockey - I do try to remember to use that tag on all things penguins, but it’s entirely likely that if it’s about players and not got hockey in it, I forget. So I’ll try to be better at that (tho, the main tags I use there are probably ‘sidney crosby’, ‘geno’, ‘phil kessel is a stanley cup champion’, ‘flower’ and ‘tanger’ - but adding that many to blacklist is a pain, so I’ll get better at using the penguins tag)

But, for things, not penguins related, I’ll use ‘hockey’ too - or, actually ‘not pittsburgh penguins’ would probably be better, so I’ll use that
