you made a post on your twitter about being the "original host" which is. a plural term of course but ALSO i'd like to say that the idea of there being an "original" is veeery misleading and not actually possible in DID/OSDD

the reason DID/OSDD exists at all is because a child's identity was unable to fully form in their developmental years, so the identity splits off and fractures into several parts necessary to keep the child safe. because of this, there can be no "original host" because there was never an identity formed that could be considered the "core," in a way, at all. it gives off the idea that there was one set identity that split off others later on in life, which isnt how DID/OSDD works in terms of alter formation

also, the disorder can only be developed in your early formative years, so its mostly unheard of for a system to go through life with a single part only to split off later on. your brain splits off alters in response to stressors or traumatic experiences, and so when the disorder is formed there would have to have been a fracture from the beginning where your identity wasnt able to come together to form a single one. multiple alters can be "original," in a sense, but there is not one sole original

i suppose that other alters could have simply been integrated and so they arent a part of your system anymore (leaving you as the "original host"), but thats probably not my place to explore and its all a bit too complicated for a tumblr ask

there are parts that have been around longer than all the other parts and there are parts that identify with/as the body or the head of the system, buuuut i just wanted to share that tidbit of information because misinformation can be very harmful when it comes to healthy plurality!!

in any case, dont let this cause you to spiral into more self-doubt because — surprise! DID/OSDD is supposed to be hard to understand or identify within yourself. its a trauma disorder formed to make you as functional as possible, so generally the disorder tries very hard to hide your other parts from you as to protect you from those traumas. being confused is a major part of plurality, and most long-term hosts do have the misconception of being "original" because there was no reason to think otherwise.

its also fully possible that you have been the host for the majority (or entirety) of your life, so dont get me wrong! im just trying to share that the idea of an "original" alter isnt possible.

regardless of whether or not you're plural, i wish you the best in exploring yourself and the way that your brain functions. you're doing great, truly!

one time during a psychotic episode I was convinced I had did / was part of a system. I experienced what I perceived as switches and such. when I started getting better I realized that wasn't what was happening. it was very real to me while it was happening though and im just wondering if anyone else has experienced something similar. I feel bad because I dont wanna be one of those people who fakes did, but thats really not what I was doing, and I dont know how to put it in a context that doesn't make me feel bad about it. sometimes I miss who I thought of as alters at the time but I suppose were really just. delusional headspaces.

Ok so I think it's important to add the context to my answer, that I have a different approach to/understanding of these questions than both many people in the respective communities, as well as many professionals. Nevertheless, since I'm not writing a research paper, but rather, providing a personal take on the question, I hope that you will bear with me!

So in my somewhat radical opinion, it doesn't much matter whether you experienced what you did because of DID or because of a delusion caused by psychisis.

Alters, as well as delusions, are products of the mind. It doesn't mean that delusions don't FEEL real, it doesn't mean that alters don't truly experience themselves as separate entities, but it IS worth keeping in mind that one of these experiences is not inherently more "valid" than the other.

Delusions are often of a negative, harmful nature, while alters are often a helpful coping tool, but that is FAR from being a universal rule.

I used to think I had something like OSDD, then a psych convinced me the 'others' were delusions of control (and as a result for a while I suppose they were), but today we just kind of co-exist somewhere on the border between psychosis, identity compartmentalization, ipseity disturbance, dissociation, method acting as coping and general identity confusion..

After years of wading through the professional and community discourse, on my own personal journey with the topic, this is what I think:

It seems to me that the discourse surrounding the acceptable causes of identity dissociation and amnesia in DID/OSDD, has ended up with a situation where DID identity compartmentalization is seen as the only "real" aka "valid" experience of identity fragmentation.

It would appear that this debate, which to me seems largely to be a matter of categorization and definition, has been warped to the point where people like you end up feeling bad for having been "faking DID" while in fact you have done no such thing, and furthermore having your legitimate grief at the loss of people/alters YOU experienced as real, be invalidated and belittled (by yourself, if not others).

Anon, I'm sorry for your loss. Jesus fuck, I'm sorry. Who cares what the others "really were" or "why they're gone"... You experienced them as people in your life, people you had relationships with, people you could rely on - ofc it hurts to lose them.

Of course you are grieving.

"Just delusional headspaces" is such a telling turn of phrase, and it breaks my heart. It really does.

So often we psychotic people are expected to be "over it" the moment we are not actively delusional. As if we don't get traumatized when we think we are going to be killed. As if we don't grieve the relationship we built completely in our head, when it turns out not to be 'real'?

Identity.. personality.. headspaces.. they are no more real or no more fake dependent on their underlying cause..

I understand why the dissociative community are protective of their alters, I understand the need to say "this is not psychosis! These experiences are real!" ... I truly do, and I don't think it's a meaningless distinction, either.

But it's setting up a false dichotomy. Because the truth is that ultimately both delusions and alters are a thing the brain does. It's not THE SAME THING, but they are similar in the way that they are experienced internally as very real.

And I think that accepting the existence of alters as "real and valid" is important, but I don't think it should (or needs to) come at the expense of people who experience delusions, (or identity compartmentalization for any other reason).

In my experience, identity compartmentalization, that isn't coming out as scary delusions of control, is usually among the healthier coping mechanisms, delusional or not.

And creating a culture where having DID/OSDD is the only acceptable and "valid" variety of this type of experience is really not helpful for anyone. For one thing, it means that people with these types of experiences will be extremely prone to assume that they must have DID, potentially to the point of delusion, potentially to the point of making themselves more ill (developing amnesia, inducing memories etc) - and when it turns out they DON'T have DID, they will be terrified that they were "faking", when in fact they were just acting according to their current best understanding of themselves..

Not to mention, they will feel the obligation to bury any hint of identity compartmentalization within themselves, to conform to a social world that insists these experiences are "problematic" by virtue of being "not real", somehow.

I think Jakes disinterest in Sam and Colbys content truthfully was the fact that he had no control. He needed to stand out and be the center of attention so he acted immaturely (thats the nicest way i could put it rather than what i really want to say). Not saying his content is similar to Sam and Colby but this guy faked stubbing his toe so he wouldn’t be forced to go to a warehouse yet now he’s hanging out in haunted forests with a serial killer and …Corey ‘Ive got chills’ Scherer. As for Corey i honestly cant come up with what was up with him, he wasn’t okay with the boys calling the shots but he was with Elton, who continues to throw jabs at him in vids.

This new group, i share the sentiments of others, i would love to see Sam and Colby do solo content and leave the group ceremonies for Sams channel. I honestly think those are dead now too at this point. I feel indifference with a few people, i miss the enthusiasm of the videos and i dont trust that every touch or breeze is considered paranormal like certain people claim in the videos. I dont trust shadows either and honestly would be down for them pairing up with actual professionals or going to a convention and learning more about this world. Honestly, I think both Jake and Corey were sick of being "sidekicks" to snc, as it were. They were relegated to being "Jake and Corey" from Sam and Colby instead of their own people, and after a while, that had to get under their skin- especially when they all moved in together and snc became not only their "employers," in a sense, but their landlords.

They didn't really have their own identities anymore, by that point. And that is no slight on snc, who seem like good people- but good people who essentially make the rules you live by in your work and home life are still people you will eventually grow to resent, at some point.

They wanted to branch out and do their own thing, take control of their own narrative and careers and home lives, which is totally understandable.

It's the way they went about it that leaves a bit to be desired.

Corey is a raging hypocrite, full stop. [little disclaimer that a lot of these are based off of made up lore and ocs on my main account. if youre strictly canon only then i wouldnt recommend this for you. if you’re interested but have no knowledge about said lore, i will give basic explanations]

LAYER 1

Joey Perleoni: joey perleoni is well known as the poster of the anti-piracy videos, who, recently, has involved himself more in the videos. joey in my lore is depicted as mostly emotionless or “empty” with no remorse for his actions.

Mario Party DS Anti-Piracy OST: on the channel, there is pretty convincing fake music for the series, there’s not much else to say about it other than it’s SUPER bangin’

Joey was arrested: in a video titled ‘the police are at my house’, joey is taken in by the police. he is presumably in prison

Luigi is the victim: in all of the videos posted, luigi is the main character, and is often considered the victim of the horrible events happening.

Hex code translations: in the videos, there are several hex codes, which can be translated to several different things. the ones we’ve found are hellsatan, luigimod, thx4luv, watchdemon.jit etc.

Reggie Fils-Amie video: on joey’s channel, his first upload has nothing to do with mpdsap, but rather it’s a video filming a joke reggie made about mother 3. it’s unknown if this is connected or not.

LAYER 2

Luxury station and Quiznos: luxury station is joey’s second account, revolving a few strange videos about a place named quiznos. it’s unknown if this is connected or not

Hudson (the man): in my lore, there is a character named hudson, who inherited the company. he’s considered the person who made the anti-piracy screens, or at least encouraged it strongly. this character is based off of some text in host hoedown, which translates to “hudson - this is not necessary. it will extend the launch considerably.” (also i know hudson is the name of the company but the time i found out it was too late)

“Joey no longer runs the account” theory: there was a theory going around after joey’s arrest that someone else is running the account, since there should be no way he should keep posting. this is probably deconfirmed by now

Joey doesn’t feel much emotion: as stated before, my depiction of joey is that of “mostly emotionless or completely empty”. there is no reason for this currently (it’s kind of a case study at this point tbfh)

DJ Hallyboo is based on MC Ballyhoo: in mario party 8 for the wii, there is a character that bears extreme resemblance to DJ Hallyboo, named MC Ballyhoo. they have the same voice clips used, similar names, and somewhat similar designs. MC Ballyhoo is the host of mario party 8. it is general considered that DJ Hallyboo is a beta version of MC Ballyhoo by fans.

LAYER 3

Electric chair: in the video simply titled “mario party ds anti piracy |”, where joey sits on a chair and boots up mario party ds, a few comments were floating around joking about him getting the electric chair. this hasn’t been confirmed

Hudson and Joey used to be friends: this is mostly outdated now, but there was a joke timeline where hudson and joey were friends in the past. not gonna cover it any further than that because it’s an old concept now

MC Ballyhoo and DJ Hallyboo are the same person: in my lore, the general consensus is that MC Ballyhoo and DJ Hallyboo are the same person, with split personalities. he is also either sentient or extremely aware.

Joey is god: in my lore, there is a mostly bizzare idea that joey is divine and has always been divine. he became “a god” by doing criminal acts, or sacrificing luigi. i can’t tell you if this is canon to my lore or not yet though - it started as a meme, but i really do like the idea somehow.

“Waiter, your finger’s in the soup!”: a mysterious quote with no real meaning that was quoted by joey a couple of times. it is connected to a short comic. nobody has found out what it means yet or why it’s being posted about.

LAYER 4

“Joey does drugs” joke: (TW // DRUG ABUSE)

this joke spawned from something i learned in school. apparently people who abuse illegal drugs gradually start feeling less dopamine doing normal activities over time, due to drug overstimulation. this was jokingly connected to joey’s chronic emptiness and inability to feel anything, with the joke that he does meth or some other illegal drug. it’s also noted that drug abusers are likely to commit other crimes. this is of course, not serious at all.

Joey stole MPDS from mcdonalds: this is a personal theory of mine. mcdonalds and MPDS have absolutely no connection - so why are they attempted to be connected at all? in the video, it describes a demo being sold in happy meals at mcdonalds - it’s a possibility that joey stole the demo from mcdonalds, and doesn’t actually have the full game.

Joey wearing the same clothes as the character: i have drawn joey with a yellow sweater (with orange sleeves) and grey shorts for a while now. in the mcdonalds video, he was wearing nearly the same outfit (with the exception of the shorts being pants). he also has brown hair, which i predicted, but it’s much darker. this is probably a coincidence but it’s pretty freaky honestly.

Techwalker: this will probably be the longest segment in the iceberg and the most lore heavy. techwalker was joey’s old channel. he made extremely different content - mainly of which was just bothering random people on the street and at conventions. he has described himself as a “journalist”, but this is all basically fun and games. these videos are now unlisted and i will not be linking them nor telling you where to find them for privacy reasons. i don’t want to get in trouble. if i find any of yall spreading it around im taking down the post and will probably not talk about this again, you dont want that, i dont want that, nobody wants that really.

in the lore, techwalker is not joey. they are 2 seperate people - but they live in the same body. what this means is that either one can take control at a time - joey is completely numb to everything around him, but tech is a pretty happy go lucky and social person. they have different personalities, morals, names and lead different lives. tech even wears glasses (assuming he has some kind of impaired eyesight), and joey does not.

(this has been confused with dissociative identity disorder. while i don’t mind people interpreting my content in whatever way they’d like, considering this is just fan-lore, this was not the intent. i do not have DID and i don’t want to speak for anyone who has DID.)

the general consensus is that tech is dead, or at least completely drowned out, and joey has taken complete control. joey and tech were practically mortal enemies and polar opposites of each other. (joey constantly being annoyed or uninterested in tech’s hyperactivity, and tech not trusting joey to be responsible or ‘law abiding’)

Dee sat patiently on the couch, leg bouncing nervously as the others filed into the living room, faces all showing various levels as curiosity. Logan appeared last, and Dee took a deep breath.

“So,” they said. “I have to tell you all something.”

“Dev, if you’re about to tell us you’re gay, we know,” Roman laughed.

“Hey,” Patton scolded. “Let him talk, he’s clearly nervous.” he turned to Dee, saying, “Go ahead, Devin.”

Dee cringed at the use of their birth name, not going unnoticed by Remus, but he decided to let Dee talk and confirm his hunch. 

“Well, actually, I-” Dee sighed, feeling a pit in their stomach, and decided to take a page out of Virgil’s book, ripping off the band-aid. “I’m non-binary. My pronouns are they/them, my name is Dee.”

There was a cacophony of shocked noises, causing Dee to wonder why they didn’t just do this in the group chat. Their hands became clammy and their leg started bouncing even more than before. They held their head in their hands, feeling regret and shame creeping in and tears of embarrassment prick their eyes. The murmurs ceased and they looked up, wiping their tears, to see five concerned faces. Patton was the first to speak up.

“So, Dee,” He said softly, reaching his hand out to grab Dee’s. “I guess that means we have to change your nickname in the group chat?”

“Dee Evan Hansen!” Remus quickly shouted, causing Dee to bark out a laugh.

“I was hoping for Sincerely, Dee, actually,” They chuckled.

“Both are appropriate nicknames,” Logan nodded, unlocking his phone to change Dee’s nickname.

“Hey Dee?” Virgil called. Dee nodded, signalling him to continue. “Pain in the ass is a gender neutral term, right?”

Dee shoves him, laughing. They sobered for a moment, “Seriously guys, I… I really appreciate how cool you’re all being about this.”

“Of course, Dee,” Logan smiled. He stood, “Now if you’ll excuse me, I have work to get back to.”

Logan left, and the others slowly trickled out of the room,  leaving just Dee and Roman.

“So,” Dee started. “You’ve been awfully quiet.”

“Yeah, I-” Roman sighed, and turned to face his friend. “I just… how long have we been misgendering you?”

“Dee.”

“Okay, it’s been… about five months.”

“Dee!”

“It’s fine, Ro,” Dee grabbed his hand reassuringly. “I’ve been introducing myself properly to everyone else I meet.”

“Oh, so you’re just letting your best friends misgender you then?” Roman sassed.

Dee flushed, though they tried their best to hide it with sarcasm. “No, Princey, I am suddenly attracted to,” They fake gagged and shuddered, “girls.”

Roman chuckled, “So that’s a yes?”

“That’s a yes.”

Roman shifted closer again, causing Dee’s breath to catch in their throat. Roman leaned in, brushing his thumb against Dee’s bottom lip. “Is this-”

“Roman if you do not kiss me right now-”

Roman rolled his eyes affectionately and leaned down to press their lips together. Dee snaked their hand to the back of Roman’s neck, holding him there. Roman’s hand moved to cup Dee’s cheek, and god, if Dee could stay in this moment forever, they would.

Unfortunately for them, Dee needed to breathe, and therefore reluctantly pulled away from Roman.

“Dee, I-”

“Don’t talk, just keep kissing me.”

Roman acquiesced, a smile on his face, as he leaned down again to capture Dee’s lips once more.

I'm sorry if this ask makes you uncomfortable, I'm not sure, if it's something to discuss with strangers. But do you think there's a concrete way to tell your sexuality?

I've considered myself straight, since I've never felt romantic feelings towards women, but I had sexual fantasies about them even before I had them about men. Your Yugioh post made me remember hoping my barbies would turn alive to do horny things with them... And now, when I'm lucid dreaming (so it's conscious), I go for whoever there is, no matter the gender.

My confusion stems from being an extremely visually stimulated person, so even fashion Items or makeup can make me h word. So I'm really not sure if I'm bi-sexual, or just find women pretty and trying to be spicy straight.

Sorry again if it's inappropriate, I'm not sure who to even talk about this. And I'm not really in a place to find out through trial anytime soon lol

sooo i dont think for everyone sexuality is going to be a “concrete” thing. for some people it very much is, which is great, but for some people it can be very fluid and changing. i dont think either way is better than the other; they just Are. i only mention this bc i have also very much been where you are so i know it can be pretty stressful and frustrating, feeling like you cant even really tell what your own sexuality is, especially since my brain has never been the best at handling grey areas. i identified as bi for the vast majority of my life before realizing i was actually a lesbian. and i dont say that to equate bisexuality with confusion, but rather to illustrate just how long of a process really understanding the nuances of your own sexuality can be, and how truly normal and okay it is to explore different identities

i would suggest considering why you dont think youve ever had romantic feelings towards a woman or never could; this can actually be a very common thing for wlw bc of compulsive heterosexuality--women live their entire lives in a world that for the most part tells them that love between two women could never be “real” or romantic. its kinda like that whole messy stereotype that biphobes and homophobes like to propagate about bi people being confused, and that bi women are just confused straight women and bi men are just confused gay men. it centers around men. so when women’s sexualities have always been defined by their relationship to men, it can be really hard to figure out how you feel about people who ARENT men, and can def lead to the kind of confusion it sounds like youre having. mainstream Love as a concept is really so eaten up with heterosexual archetypes that they can muddy up your own feelings on what it means for you specifically to love someone regardless of their gender if that makes sense

re: visual stimulation: i think that can differ for everyone, and may or may not play a part in their sexuality. for example, you might become aroused because you associate fashion and makeup with women you find attractive/youre attracted to femininity, OR you might find them stimulating because of a certain mood or vibe they evoke for you, like feeling sexy, the idea of dolling yourself up for someone, etc. or it could very well be both!!!

just from what i can gather from this ask, it sounds to me like youre sexually attracted to women but struggling with figuring out the romantic side of things. ill make this clear first and foremost; i dont believe in the split attraction model, so im not positing youre “bisexual but heteroromantic” or anything like that. HOWEVER sometimes certain aspects of attraction as a whole are easier to parse than others. i know for sure that way before i ever considered IDing as a lesbian i was wildly physically attracted to women but really only gave credence to the crushes i got on men  ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

tbh i wouldnt worry too much about it. and i dont mean that in a brushing off kind of way; more in a you absolutely have time to figure this out and explore your options type way. let yourself feel the way you feel about people, try to think about it without OVER thinking, and just be open to things. treat it like a journey at your own pace rather than a timed exam. if you dont want to figure things out by trial as you said right now or for a long time? thats fine. that option will always be waiting for you when youre ready for it. and remember, if bisexuality is something youre considering may be a proper fit, it doesnt have to be 50/50. you could be 90% attracted to people of different/dissimilar gender and 10% attracted to people of same/similar gender and you would still be 100% bi, not a “fake,” not spicy straight. try calling yourself bi. try calling yourself straight. see how it feels and if it fits. dont be afraid of thinking youre one thing and turning out to be the other. this isnt something you can get “wrong.” sexuality can be totally messy and confusing for a lot of people, even after you think youve gotten it all figured out; one of the best things about being alive is how you feel about and interact with other people, but thats such a vast and varied experience that its totally normal imo for it to be nonlinear and not always clear cut. either way your sexuality is yours to explore no matter where you end up

What do you think SR who we all know is TTB is gonna do after Josh and Karlie are spotted pushing a baby stroller in FL while Taylor is in London. I don’t expect absolutely anything to change TTB’s mind. If something ever does, we won’t find out about it. First of all, she wouldn’t tell us. Second, it would be a gradual process after she doesn’t feel so attached to the idea and doesn’t feel like a part of her own identity.

And while I do not know much about TTB as a person, I’ve read a thing or two about the mind of people who aggressively believe conspiracy theories — which matches TTB’s general attitude. So I do very much think she believes what she’s saying. She believes celebrities behave very differently than us commoners. That they play an extremely convoluted game regarding their public image. So, if TTB sees Karlie and Josh with their baby, or if Taylor gets married, TTB will easily write it off as another way celebrities are purposefully lying to her. What she struggles with, I think, is comprehending why other people don’t see it as clearly as she does.

hm well skam nl is my favorite and their social media game is trash LMAOOO so generally No but i do feel like remakes who DO have such a good presence kind of elevate the show and i think it’s pretty heartwarmin to see some remakes go sm farther than skam with social media and puttin out educational and IN CHARA resources like skames does this so well and i feel like in that way, the team is really really spreadin skam’s spirit via these resources (like joana’s billion bpd awareness ig accounts and lucas rubio’s yt channel)

2. Least favourite clip of the show? Why?

tbh there are definitely some duds but probably one of the clips with sana gettin herself into a hole in s4 just bc some were hard to watch cus cringey or yikes .... idk i cant think of others LMAO

season 1 - tbh even though i really enjoyed this season, it does take a while for it to build up like i rmr at first not being that interested until ep6 maybe ?? which is hard when you’re trying to get your friends to watch but they have to wait until ep6 before shit starts RLLY buildin up and gettin wild

season 2 - hm ig noora chasin after william ??

season 3 - bro NOTHINGGG call me a purist but its such a refined masterpiece like the pacing is good the characterization is so good ugh i deadass cant think of anythin

season 4 - i always felt a little ??? w noora being sana’s bff ig bc from s1-s3 it didn’t Feel like they were that close like even in noora’s pov, sana wasn’t really a part of it that much ?? like eva was more of noora’s bff ?? so i feel like it would have made more sense if maybe sana spoke more with chris or vilde bc sana and vilde eventually seemed to get closer esp with kosegruppa and chris has always been by sana’s side ?? idk that always confused me

5. What is your opinion on the cast’s participation on social media? Do you prefer it when the cast aren’t that involved like the Skam cast, or do you like a lot of content like the Fr cast do?

tbh i don’t care much abt the casts LMAOOO if anythin it kind of brings more harm as seen with the harassment axel and maxence get and also can bring more controversy like with irene (which honestly is p sad considerin how much i love skames bc now i feel super :/ watchin it like she shouldve just had private accts at this point)

IJXDWQOIJJ yes .... remakes-wise, people hate skam nl s2’s last half but i enjoyed it for the most part ... i think the pacing was off for the last ep but personally, clip 50 made up for it and is p god tier imo ..... and also don’t think the first half of ep10 is enough to discredit the entire season bc i rlly loved seeing liv’s pov and have sm fave moments from the season 

but skam wise, omg might get a lil controversial w this one IM SORRY !!! im bein honest and its Just my opinion ok 

personally s2 got me more invested than s1 and i don’t think its a super bad season like i didnt really say many problems wrong with it until i got on tumblr wiejioqjoiqjq i was sort of interested in the questions that the noora/william dynamic brought up which is, as expressed in william’s war speech to noora, that nothing is ever black/white which i feel was a huge message and feeds into the ‘you never know what ppl are going through’ theme of the season ... like i like the idea of someone like noora, who can have a black/white mentality (as seen in the first clip of s2 when she tells vilde that they can’t have the tannin company as their sponsor bc they objectify women or smth but misses the context and what it could mean for the bus monetarily bc shes caught up in bein ‘woke’) having to break out of that and see more than one side ... and i think remakes like skam austin expanded on this idea well like when zoya was like ‘must be so nice being right all the time’ which i Do feel like is an important for youth to know today .... bc i think its so easy to get caught up in the idea of being so objectively right and morally superior that people lose sight of the more nuanced characteristics to life ... (omg long ramble BUT)

also LMAOOOOO this one might be more controversial as it pertains to bench scene s4 ok oops again doNT GOTTA AGREE !! ........ but i feel like the scene had a lot of good intentions ... i was def kind of cringing a bit tho bc i understand the subject’s sensitivity and how these topics are hard to talk about but i genuinely feel like they both made Some points and should listen to each other .... like as Hard and as maybe ‘unwoke’ it is to admit, unfortunately you sort of do have to answer the tough questions bc that way we learn from each other .... and i perfectly understand why some ppl wouldn’t want to do this and i certainly am tired abt havin to answer shit abt my sexuality or stupid male questions abt women but if u dont answer them, people do go lookin for answers still and the internet is such a shitty place that its pretty easy (esp with youtube’s algorithm) to lead you to ignorant ppl and perhaps radicalization .... questions help us to better understand our community and sometimes they can have good intentions too but we have to ask and answer them or else people will make up answers (which ive literally seen and its honestly worse to see fake as shit and UNINFORMED answers bc ppl did not want to ask you or ppl of ur identity, esp when they’re already startin from a place of hate .... but i rather have ppl ask me patronizing questions than have them spread false info bc that can do much more harm in the long run) however i DO think that isak should also consider sana’s side and i sort of wish we saw him conceding more bc they both have smth to learn from one another, like sana shouldn’t just be learnin from isak, isak needs to learn from sana too

omg honestly too much to write here tbh ..... but if it says anythin im (very slowly) in the works of a three part skam essay about basically how skam teaches us to be better humans and how to better treat the people we care about diowjqioj essentially the three biggest themes of the show: you never know what someone is going through so always be kind, always communicate with your friends, and no person is ever alone and i feel like these are definitely rlly good messages to live by (also livet er nå BITCH !!!)

What we think you are referring to is the piety posse, smarmy’s antics with solo, and then the social justice kemetics dogpiling of innocent people in the community, the fake racist god fiasco, belittling the gods, attacking trans people, chasing others off their blogs, making a blog dedicated to bullying a grand total of 5 actual people, attacking another member over hair, attacking that same person for months, and constantly insisting only one person in the community has the “correct” information on ma’at.  We would like to add these are what directly comes to mind.  We would like to add it’s the same small grouping of people who did all of this which has destroyed our community’s peace and ability to have dialogues.

We would like clarification on what you mean by ‘throwing POC’s under the bus’?  If you mean not instantly abandoning ones opinions to obediently pay lip service to and parrot their opinions, we would have to say you are over embellishing.

All other instances we have seen crop up have been exaggerated and labeled inappropriately for what the discussion was.  We would like to add that such labels were tossed on the individuals to invalidate their arguments, despite them being actually correct, most of the time.  We’ve viewed each supposed instance of these and found very few are legitimate.

Incorrect.  We would like to inform you the split happened when smarmy grouped up with cheshirepiourette and birbreligion, to attack people in the community, like ravenous hyenas desperate for a morsel.  Smarmy at the time introduced her hard stop policy of “us vs them” mentalities, which Shezep actually warned her against at the beginning (iirc).  We would like to inform you, THAT is when the split happened.

We would like to say, you aren’t necessarily part of the drama, you just enable it.  We would like to dispel the illusions of the “baggage and drama” and clarify it all for you.

It’s one group of people (who you engage with often and defend), who cause all the problems.  They attack, the people defend, they throw a label and then spend weeks exaggerating about how x person is “so amazingly evil omg”. 

We would like to clarify, they are usually, if not always incorrect.  If they stopped trying to win every argument with accusations, name calling, and constantly lying about people, the community wouldn’t have split.  But then we would have a diverse community with a wide range of beliefs and thoughts, can’t have that now, can we?

 No one turns a blind eye (we wish we could but by the gods, we are not given a single chance).  We would like to add half the issues are invented, and the other half are barely coherent enough to be considered anything but a political fever dream.

We notice the two versions aren’t identical, weird, and then people get defensive, as if they were, accused.  Strange, that.  “Lo and behold” such “reminders” are never as simple and innocuous as you present here.  “Lo and behold”.

This would suggest "y’all” cause all the drama and baggage because people want to express religion in their own ways.  But you want them to express it in your ways only, that you approve of.  We think that sounds sort of...overreaching your station.

We would like to add, some with low reading comprehension might say that sounds like maintaining the status quo.  We would like to inform you, we have an exciting new concept!  Not tossing awful insults and labels on someone to win the argument with a hollow point!

WE have this exciting new idea of talking to people about these issues instead talking at them (or shouting them down)!  Or talking to people without the self-entitled condescending tones! 

We would even go so far as to suggest having dialogue with them to hear out their points instead of trying to convert them to YOUR point while refusing to listen to them!  But that’s not all!  You can also take this spicy new approach of not lying about them and spreading horrible rumors to destroy their reputations and try to run them out of the community!

We encourage trying these EXCITING new techniques to talking to people like an adult and not angsty teenagers angling for a fight.

being a freak abt gender under the cut

they thing w me is i dont mind she/her pronouns because like. i identify with womanhood more than most nb lesbians probably do but the reason i choose nb as a label is that i understand gender in a very different way than any cis person does and it’s like. yes i think gender is a societal concept and i don’t think my soul or whatever has a gender personally. but also... my brain is shaped by society. everything i know is due to the society i grew up in and my personally experiences so like. just bc its a societal concept does not make it fake ig? and thats how i end up with a label like lesbian. and honestly 4 me pronouns are just... how you want people to communicate about you and honestly i used to feel like when people used she/her pronouns they were carrying with it all of these assumptions abt me and my identity but like. as i get older i realize that simply isn’t true lol but using any pronouns besides she/her makes me actively stand out bc of my presentation. and that’s what carries assumptions and i dont like the idea of that like. i would rather someone say she/her about me in passing and not think anything of it vs. the knowledge that everyone in the world has a different concept of what using ‘they/them’ pronouns means (or using he/him pronouns as someone who does not present masculine) and i know that no one’s assumption abt my gender would be correct. and i understand why ppl use different pronouns like at least sometimes it helps people get in the ballpark of how you want to be viewed/understood by other people. but idk i feel like using anything but she/her is going to make people think abt my gender and for me my gender is like. a private thing idk like it’s something u tell ur friends and partners abt (and tumblr apparently lolz) and not something that is available to strangers and i know thats probably due to like some kind of internalized issue i have or internalized shame or smthn but like also i decide the rules when it comes to my own presentation and shit so who cares LMAO. like i really just don’t want people to look at me and make any assumptions which i know they will but i honestly feel like they make 100x less assumptions abt me when im not publically nonbinary/transgender (which i have been for both cuz i thot i was transmasc for a bit) . like i dont... need people to know abt my gender identity bc i dont particularly care what strangers/acquantinces think of me but thats probably the autism talking. does any1 else relate to this or am i just insane

you know whats a pain in the ass.......psych "experiments" (bitter quotation marks coz the scientific method doesnt mean you can shoot rubber bands at people in a restaurant & say it aligns w your hypothesis of if i do this then people will be annoyed, and then saying that it leads to the theory that Pain is more influential a force than environment and social mores to be endlessness polite to each other in an expensive restaurant) particularly the ones that ppl like to reduce to "these experiments prove that humanity is dumbassed/bad, but because you are shaking yr head at this fact it means it doesnt apply to you"

like the book you can get at any barnes & nobles or whatever thats like "the marshmallow experiment, or, why self control determines lifelong success so you better read this book to learn how to have better self control." that experiment was basically like, ppl putting little kids in a room with a marshmallow on the table, and telling them that they were going to be in the room alone for a few minutes, and when the adult came back the kid would be given an extra marshmallow if the first one hadnt been eaten yet. and then it was one of those things where like, they did periodic follow up surveys with these kids for the next 20 yrs or so to see how "successful" they were in life. and of course the takeaway is meant to be that the kids who Succeeded were the kids that didn't eat the marshmallow.

but the thing is that the details can just as much if not moreso be interpreted to show that the idea that those kids walked in with a "self-control" level that had already laid out their whole future was bullshit? i mean, first of all, how do you define the concept of "self-control," especially as a constant/measurable quality? like its something that sits in the brain like a rock, and kids have bigger rocks or smaller rocks that dont change over time. how would you know its an independent factor unaffected by any variable parts of its whole, or by external influences?

and anyhow, there was more to the experiment. like, some kids were given a "trick" to help them wait it out, i.e. to pretend that the marshmallow wasnt real/was just a picture or something. and those kids were able to wait for ages / without getting all fidgety about it nearly as much as the kids who didnt get that hint. another variation was that some of the kids, before the bit with the marshmallow, were deliberately given a precedent where the adult running the experiment "lied," aka said something was going to turn out one way if x happened, then showed the kid that it didnt happen the way they said it would. and natch those kids were way more likely to eat the marshmallow right off than wait for a promised second marshmallow. and these factors had really strong correlations, suggesting it "overrode" any concept of an Inherent Self-Control level any of those kids had.

so little kids can have vast more success immediately when given a Cheat vs the idea that yrs of development are needed to obtain an unshakable Self-Control. and if kids can be taught at once to distrust an adult, how can anyone assume that walking into that experiment that day, each kid had encountered adults with identical examples of reliability and truthfulness? and where is the Controlled factors when it comes to observing these kids over the course of their early lives. how are the qualities possessed by a kid when theyre 2-5yrs old or something going to remain constant for decades. how is "success" going to be defined? how is the confirmation bias of the interviewers going to be restricted? how are the state of these kids lives in their 20s supposed to be the be-all and end-all judgment of their entire lives quality / the whole of their character? etc etc

so thats bs. another one i think of is this one where its like, six ppl are put in a room but one of them doesnt know that the other five are In on the experiment. everyone is shown a piece of paper with line segments where their relative distinctions in length are obvious, and asked which one is the longest. the five conspirators all say the longest is one which is clearly not the longest, the sixth person who doesnt know whats going on usually agrees with them. thus proving that everyone reprehensibly gives in to peer pressure even if they know the rest of the group is wrong! sheeple

and like, uh? um? how about the sixth person hasnt been given a reason to believe the other five are lying, and in the face of their consensus, they make an entirely reasonable assumption that for whatever reason, their own perception of the lines is inaccurate, rather than stubbornly believing in their own superior infallibility, i.e. that its more likely that the perception of all the other five are inaccurate, rather than that sixth person being the one who's wrong. yeah sure "groupthink" exists but weirdly enough also, the Group isnt evil. but thats a cultural bias too, which is very scientific

and another "long term" """experiment""" (nothing abt this can be called a real experiment...) was back in the day where some guy was like "i'm going to bring together a few guys who have delusions of being the messiah and see if that logically proves to them that none of them are jesus" and so he did that, and expected them to like kill each other or whatever but actually the guys were all nice to each other and even went along with the idea of the others that the other was the Real second coming. and the guy running the experiment was like god damnit this isnt matching what i predicted, and so he did what youre supposed to do when your results dont align with your hypothesis: modified the conditions of the experiment partway through with such a controlled factor as "try to get some random lady to make one of the guys believe she was in love with him, and then try to leverage that fake relationship to convince him to admit he Knows he isnt reallly jesus." that didnt work either. there was probably more fucked up shit. but in the end? the guy who ran the experiment finally admitted that the expmt had "cured" someone of their delusion of being god, and that person was himself.

anyways i trust no psychologist (even worse: sociologists...) not that that isnt the only field where Experiments get fucked up by terrible bias. granted, these examples would likely be called "studies" anyhow, but that doesnt make them anything more than just anecdotal evidence, and this isnt the world of academic debate. like, were there controls, were there blinds, what were the parameters or potential variables in the test subjects, was data thrown out, was the experiment altered partway through, was it peer reviewed, is it replicable!! god. the only ones you can kinda rely on is mathematicians lbr

So the topic of today is how a good majority of the world sees Russians as some brand of subhumans. And there are next to 0 articles, books, songs, movies, posts, etc that doesn't feed into that rhetoric.

Like this kind of sentiment in europe has been since very long, we can start w the Catholic demonization of the Orthodox church, followed by the hun invasion instilling some kind of fear in general european population, followed by the golden army, the western part of europe has always associated east with something bad. And there is levels to that also associated with anti semitism and anti romani sentiment etc. Despite russia being historically also not a safe place for said communities (see pogroms). The point is Europe has had this view that anything "bad" comes from the east for the longest while. And Russia and eastern europe have always been seen as a creeping power/influence trying to corrupt europe. Sound similar? That's because anti Soviet propaganda said the same, Hitler himself said the same, your average newspaper will say the same, Napoleon said the same, it is hard to picture a decade in which the same idea hasnt been repeated by someone.

Of course it peaked during the cold war and the coinciding rise of mass media. Which is still felt to this day and age. You have every second movie before 9/11 with russians or soviets as the villain. After 9/11 there was still a significant prevalence enough to be labeled cliché. The public is not only used to seeing russia as the enemy. But also a defeatable enemy impossible to reason with.

If i ask, most people's thoughts on russia and russians would be: "backwards, weak, poor, dumb, aggressive, close minded, boring, cold, racist, etc.." And theres rarely critical thinking to it not on the basest levels. Every russian is met with derision, condescension and or hostility abroad. I mean every.

I don't think any of you realise that such a global scale of hostility and so casually delivered is one of the main causes of the rise of current russian nationalism. Which i will in no way defend in terms of morality but what did y'all expect would happen. That russians would just agree that the entirety of their culture is a bad thing and they are generally worse people than others?

And then its stupid that you call us militant and aggressive if the only way russia was ever respected as was as a military power. Like of course the country is going to go that road if its the only road presented.

I could go on to the deeper effects of this all in society but it legit breaks my heart. And it just so damn offensive when half of y'all are sharing posts about russian gays in Chechnya. Like you give a shit i will very honestly say i dont think y'all do. That is really just more fuel for you to justify your dislike of a country and of a culture. Because it doesnt even cross your minds that said Chechen gays may not want to choose between their sexual orientation and their cultural identity. And that is all option you give to them. -Do not compare Russia and Nazi Germany. Do not do that at all, hitler wanted us all dead and enslaved and around 20 million soviets died trying to rid the world of that scum. Thats around one third of all casualties in the war. Its insensitive af to do so.

-Do understand that russia is a multicultural country. Your representation often erase millions of beautiful people and cultures.

-Do read up on anti soviet propaganda. What it looks like and double check your beliefs and views.

-If you're an artist and Russia is one of the inspirations do paint Russia in a good light. There are obvious flaws to it. Many of them but literally we have that rep everywhere. Paint us beautiful and warm and healthy. Thats not something done often.

-Do not sexualize our women and I'm going to extend this to all eastern Europe. Like y'all don't know how fucking serious a problem that is. Your "russian whore" jokes come from a very harsh ugly reality well rooted in sex trafficking.

-Don't overly militarise your view of us? Like legit toxic masculinity becomes an expectation thanks to that. I legit was called a fake russian for not being like that. You do realise our army is less staffed than the USA's. And our budget much smaller? We're not all army people and a good amount of young men are terrified of conscription.

-Do not try to lecture a Russian on Russian politics and Putin. We're not dumb we know our political situation better than the rest of you.

-Do not fear monger. Like legit Russia has no ability to take on NATO and it will simply not do that. Legit fearing us will only serve for y'all to agree with some bullshit bills that are essentially a waste of y'alls tax money at best and at worst just make it less safe.
