I know the mike initiating a kiss or making the first move is a popular thing among bylers but i dont think that would be/should be the case AND HERES WHY 🤓☝ *mcyter with lists voice* (i get sidetracked so bear with me)

For starters; we've come to a conclusion that mike has internalized homophobia and there's plenty of evidence to back this up, he wants to be "normal" and in the 80s being gay was abnormal, this is a commonly known thing that's mentioned a lot amongst bylers and its precisely the reason i dont think mike would be the one to make the first move

Mike does everything in his power to be a normal person which is why i think he was willing to lie to el so easily in season 3

This is where i get sidetracked but really its just backup analyzing for this

Before gay marriage was legal, lavender marriages were everywhere or at least a fairly common thing, in case you dont know lavender marriages are marriages that were used to cover the sexuality of one or both of the people getting married, which i think ties in with mike and els dynamic (will get to that later)

Mike uses el as a cover or a way to be normal, its what he grew up around and its what he saw on tv gay relationships just werent considered normal

In season 3 mike lies to el so he can continue to see her, to continue to have a cover or something that convinces him hes "normal", and all they really did was make-out because "thats what couples do"

You have the season 3 rain fight which ive seen multiple people mention that mike was blatantly reflecting but ive never seen anyone explain it more - will says something about mike and el (seemingly) constantly kissing, referring to el as "a stupid girl" and while mike did defend el, he couldve just left it at "els not stupid", "its not my fault you dont like girls" did not need to be there. He felt like will was seeing through the amount of effort he had been putting into normal and panicked, saying something he didnt mean and we can visibly see he didnt mean it

In season 4 theres the rollerrink fight, another instance where mike says something he didnt mean or like to say - will complains about mike not sending him letters whereas el has "a whole book of them", mike tells him "thats because shes my girlfriend" to which will asks "and us?" Which mike once again saw as will seeing through mike and he panicked, feeling the need to clarify that theyre just friends and wont be more, wills follow up shows hes more upset mike doesnt treat him like theyre best friends than the idea of them dating, wills already accepted the idea that mike doesnt like him the way he likes mike

The letters isnt because mike didnt want to talk to will, he most definitely tried (sitting by the phone and whining about joyce being on the phone all the time making it busy) but its because EVERYONE in hawkins knows who will is and theyll hear about it him growing up, hes the boy who was dead for a week and came back literally all over the newspapers as "zombie boy"

Mike would not be able to get away with being seen as "normal" while writing and receiving letters from another boy, especially if someone found out because for all he knows they could be the wrong person and suddenly all the work he puts into being "normal" has been washed away

With all that said; mike and will both have internalized homophobia on different ends, will knows and accepts it knowing he cant change it but he also hates it, and mike knows but denies it - i dont think mike would be the one to make the first move, i think it would be will

havent been very active on tumblr, for no reason in particular. anyways, as a risk of rain fan, i must clarify my opinions on the SOTS release

i think we can all agree on "the dlc is great content"

but anyways, its clear to me that the devs are people who care and are passionate about ROR as a series and about keeping ror2 going as well. i mean, hopoo and ghor have said as much! and their community manager seems nice i really dont blame the actual DLC team, because like. its always rude to just point fingers at the people who are just doin' darn good work. point fingers at the executive decision makers i think uh, the unification of console and pc code is... well, ill miss the old codebase, but honestly? the fact they've rewritten the games code from the ground up basically... tells me that they're in it for the long-ish haul. that they dont want to just drop ror2. they want to make their own basis that they can cleanly work on and continue this game into its second life of sorts i guess its like a soft reset of development - everythings jank like early access now. but itll get better is the current ror team the best at making decisions for the game? maybe not, but i really dont think they're malicious

its funny though, because the 2 things i was worried about was "oh gearbox is totally gonna mess up the lore with weird inconsistencies and it wont feel right, and they'll add powercreep" but honestly. imma be real, knowing some stuff ghor has said about his intentions behind the lore (shoutouts to Ghor btw, hes done so much for both the lore and the... well, the creation and foundation of risk of rain 2s codebase as a whole. the more i look into ghor, the more i realize he truly is mr ror2) anyways knowing his intentions with certain things, i can say... the Anniversary Update and SOTV actually messed up lore more than SOTS has, lol. the lores well done in SOTV. the non-lore-important logs kinda suck though, they're clearly unfinished. but i think... what they lacked was Time. Time, to complete the clean unification of code ... and for general polish. so i say we give them what randy pitchfork didnt. lets give them time, aight? im not super happy with the idea of a ror2: bedrock edition future, but... i think if the right balancing tweaks are done, then things can look pretty bright. and they do seem to want to listen to the community (though i doubt randy pitchfork wants them to. heck CEOs)

and as for powercreep? lmao we got the opposite, the items are almost too underpowered.

AS for the dlc content, i think seeker is goated. really fun character to play. chef is... undercooked tbh, jank m1. still havent gotten the third survivor, though i know who it is, and seems pretty well done minus the lack of visual and audio feedback / game-feel i think the stages are fantastic, the music is as always banger, and honestly the items are like. really CLOSE to being interesting. like noxious thorn? a green item that plays with debuffs? very cool. but why is it "on taking damage" and. i dunno, instead of adding more stacks of debuffs, i'd make it spread those debuffs to more enemies! knockback fin should be turned into a void of stun grenade if you have both DLCs on, tbh. so yeah, im. cautiously optimistic for the future. dont fall for all of the doomerisms that the youtubers are trying to spread - they're doing that to apply pressure to gearbox, mostly. which is fair, but its also fearmongering kinda. and like actual devs dont seem too concerned for the games future im just hoping that everyone who has been involved with ror2... has a good future. i dont want gearbox to just cut off the ror2 team, and i hope ghor can find whatever he needs

“Imani.” A low, hushed voice calls.

“Imani!” It calls again, seeming closer, as if the person is leaning right over me. 

I’m awoken by someone picking me up, I begrudgingly open my eyes to see Aaron holding me close, carrying me bridal style with a happy expression, his eyes glancing between me and the cabin door. 

I guess we’re here. My eyes dart around, taking in my surroundings. The fresh white snow covering the ground, the treetops, the roof of the cabin.

 One by one, we pile in, first is me and Aaron, with Z right behind us, on his phone, then Robaire, who is carrying everyone’s snacks. 

Jesse and Tae walk in, with Jesse holding a load of bags, he seemingly took up the job of getting the luggage in, although he didn’t have to, we could’ve gotten our own things. 

Tae has his headphones on, seeming in his own world, fiddling with his stuffie, Byeol. As Jesse goes back out to get the rest of our things, and Z follows him, Aaron places me down on the couch in the living room, where Tae sits next to me as I sit up, rubbing my eyes. 

“You didn’t have to carry me in.” I said to Aaron, although it was really nice. He scoffs in response, waving it off.

“Ah, but I wanted to. Plus, you were knocked out. You guys say I’m a heavy sleeper, but look at you!” He exclaims, throwing his arms up. Me and Tae share a look, “T! You literally slept through a tornado! The sirens were going off, the wind was blowing, and rain was pouring down! I-” 

Tae says, then gestures to himself, “I was scared out of my mind, you were just,” Tae then imitates Aaron’s snoring, making all three of us laugh, before Aaron speaks up.

“Yeah, I don’t remember.” He says, tapping his chin as if he was trying to think.

“Of course you don’t, you were knocked out the whole time! You only woke up when Z and Jesse carried you out of the living room and put you in the tub!” I add to the mix, stifling a laugh at the memory of him being placed in the tub filled with cold water. 

“Oh, that was funny!” A loud voice exclaims, making the three of us turn around, seeing Jesse walking over to us, ruffing up Aaron’s hair, earning a flick to the head before sitting next to Tae.

As Aaron, Tae, and Jesse converse, Z walks in and heads straight to his room. Robaire is still just standing there, seemingly in thought, so I get up and walk over to him, the other guys too deep in conversation to notice.

“What's up, Baire?” I ask, slinging my arm over his shoulder.

He shrugs me off, walking to the kitchen. “Nothin’, just glad we’re here.” He tells me, sounding relieved as he places the snacks down on the counter and opens the fridge, it’s empty, of course, you never leave food in a place you only come to once a year.

“I love the fans, but they can be a little much, y’know?” He confesses, taking a notepad from out of nowhere and beginning to write items down. I begin to think back to a few hours ago, those two girls in the gas station, those “fans”, I had forgotten about until now.

“Imani? Are you good?” Robaire snaps me out of it, his face showing slight concern.

“Uh, yeah. I’m fine.” I reply, giving a sheepish grin and a thumbs up to show that I’m okay.

“Okay… did you wanna go with me?” He asks after a few seconds, and I tilt my head in confusion. 

“Go where?” I ask him, crossing my arms. He gives me a deadpan expression before answering. 

“The store? Did you not hear me? I swear, you need to stop blasting your music.” He sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose and shaking his head. He finishes writing down his list, I glance down, it’s food and things like that.

“Can you go ask Z if he wants to come?” Robaire asks, pointing in the direction of the hallway, and I nod, “Sure.” I reply, before walking away and heading to the hallway. 

I glance down at my wrist, checking my watch, “Geesh, it’s only 6 o’clock and it’s dark out…” I mutter to myself, walking up to his shut door, where I can hear faint music pouring out, maybe Bruno Mars?

I rhythmically knock on his door, and the music quiets down. “Come in.” His rather monotonous voice calls out, and I open the door.

“Hola, soy Dora! Can you say ‘I will totally come to the store with Imani and Robaire’?”

I say in a high pitched tone, a feeble attempt at being funny, as he only stares at me with a bored expression as he turns his music back up, Silk Sonic, to tune me out. With a grumble, I walk over to his bed and sit beside him.

With a quick swipe, I grab his phone, and quickly type in New Kids On The Block’s ‘Step By Step’, letting it play through his speakers as he snatches his phone back, tossing it beside.

“What did you want?” He asks, tapping his foot to the beat before getting up and walking to his mirror, fiddling with his headband before taking it off and fixing his hair.

“You wanna come to the store with me and Baire? We’re getting like…actual food.” I ask. He stares at me from the mirror as I get up and pace while dancing at the same time.

“Okay.” He simply responds, going back to his bed when Robaire slips in, without knocking.

“Get ready to go.” He says before slipping back out, leaving the door open. Z gets up and puts his shoes on and grabs a jacket.

“Uh, dude. It’s freezing outside and you’re only wearing a jacket? Are you at least gonna change into pants?” I question, putting my hands on my hips.

He shakes his head no, and I huff, walking to the living room, putting on my boots, coat, and gloves.

“Where ya goin’, babe?” I hear Aaron ask, and I jolt when I turn around, as he’s right behind me, his hands hovering over my waist.

“Oh my…!” I shut my eyes for a second, calming down with an exhale. “Uh… Me, Z, and Robaire are going to the store. I think Baire’s already outside, so…”  

I say, as Z walks into the room, earbuds in, hood and sunglasses on as he walks right past us and out the door. Aaron’s gaze lingers on Z for a moment before turning back to me.

“Well, when you get back, we need to have a little chat.” He says, his tone oddly serious. I furrow my brows in confusion, though I don’t question him.

“Mkay… well… bye.” I say, backing up and walking out the door, gently shutting it before turning around to go to the van.

As Z is in the middle section, I go to sit in the front seat before Robaire stops me.

“I’m buying some drinks and I want them up here.” He says bluntly, gesturing to the seat behind the passenger seat, next to Z.

“You can sit there.” 

I give Robaire a blank stare before shutting the front door a bit harshly, opening the sliding van door and sitting down in the empty seat, as Z glances at me for a moment, I can see him out of the corner of my eye.

“Yeah, I’m totally gorgeous, I know.” I say in a joking manner as Robaire starts up the van and backs out of the driveway and toward the, I flutter my eyelashes in a comical way as Z turns his head to glance out the window, his flushed cheeks going unnoticed by me as I continue my antics.

After a minute or two, Robaire chimes in.

“Hey, no one is as beautiful as me!” He exclaims, making a silly duck face in the rearview mirror, making me chuckle and Z scoff in amusement. “Hey, let's settle this! Z,” Robaire calls out to him, making him glance up.

“Who has better looks, me or Mani?” Robaire finishes, making me grin at the use of my nickname, although my name is pretty short already. Z glances between me and Robaire, only for about a split second, before,

“Imani.” He answered bluntly, turning back to gaze out the window. Robaire feigns a mock betrayed expression, while I sputter in laughter. “See? I’m just that gorgeous.” I say with a sigh, crossing my arms and back in my seat as Robaire finally connects his phone to the van instead of listening to the radio, overrun with Christmas, Christmas, with a sprinkle of… Christmas.

As much as I love Christmas and its music, I’d rather listen to something else for now. Well, it doesn’t really matter, me and Robare do not have the same music taste, like, at all. 

I decided to put my headphones on, shuffling my main playlist. Of course, the first song that plays is our cover of ‘Mary, Did You Know?’, the Pentatonix style. “Whatever.”, I think to myself as I let it play, we did good, plus, I love this song. 

After a bit of driving, we pull up to a quaint little store, just outside of town, it’s so quiet, yet so peaceful. The three of us hop out of the van, toques, sunglasses, and hoods on, just in case. We walk in and are welcomed with a sweet bell, and a store clerk is right by the door, wearing a big grin.

“Hello there, how’s it goin’?” He asks, scanning out faces and we give him smiles. “Hm, never seen y’all around before, welcome!” He says, clapping his hands together and grabbing us a cart. 

“My name is John, I’m the owner, I won’t keep ya, just wanted to greet y’all, I do that with all the newcomers, y’know? I usually see locals, so it's good to see some fresh faces. Alrighty, my apologies, we’ve got a real nice selection, so go on ahead and shop!” He says, he’s a talker, for sure, but he seems like a sweet old guy.

Robaire stays behind, talking more with the owner as he hands me the list of things to buy, how kind. Me and Z decide to split up the list between the two of us, so we got through it fairly quickly, until we didn’t.

Robaire decided to not specify some items, like what type of coffee, knowing his taste though, I decided to find the more ‘exquisite’ things, as he would say. Good thing Z was in the next aisle, as I needed to grab something off the top shelf.

“Yo, Z.” I wave him over, grabbing his arm and pulling him over to my aisle, where I’m stuck in a hot chocolate predicament. The last thing on the list, I want the brand on the top shelf.

I point up to it, “I want that one, up there.” I say, expecting him to grab it, but he doesn’t. Instead, he grabs me and lifts me in the air and puts me on his shoulders, much to my disdain, he knows I don’t like heights. “Z!” I exclaim rather loudly, getting the attention of a shopper in the next aisle, staring at me with a bewildered expression as I quickly grab the hot chocolate and gently tap his chest with my foot, letting him know I got it.

As he puts me down, I can’t help but feel more than flustered as I put the hot chocolate in the cart. I turn away, holding my totally on fire face. “Z! Why’d you do that?” The close proximity left us both flustered, I catch a glimpse of the small change in his demeanor as he tries to mask it with his normally neutral expression, though I can see the slight furrow of his brows and the subtle flush in his face. He simply gives me a shrug, turning to walk, rather quickly, back to the front of the store.

I decide to brush off his odd reaction as I am already feeling odd myself, we walk to the cash register, where the clerk is waiting. “Did you find everything okay?” He asks as Z starts unloading the cart. 

“Yes, thank you.” I say with a small smile, holding my hands together and rocking back and forth on my heels. Robaire gives me an odd expression, tilting his head.

“What’s wrong? Why’s your face all red?” He asks, making me pause for a moment, letting out a breath. “Um, I dropped… something, uh, hot chocolate. It just made me a bit embarrassed. I’m fine though.” I explain, giving him a thumbs up, he seemingly buys it, nodding his head as we wait to pay.

After a bit, we pay, but before we walk out, the clerk stops us.

“I’m sorry, I have to ask, are you guys in a show or something? I swear I’ve seen your faces before!” He asks as we take our pitiful disguises off, he snaps his fingers when he seems to figure it out. 

“No, no, you guys are singers, aren’t ya? Uh, what’re you called…O-Town? No… Something-Town… I’m sorry, I’m not great with music nowadays.” He sheepishly says, rubbing the back of his neck as Robaire chuckles. 

“We’re 4*TOWN, and it’s okay.” He says, patting the clerks back. “Right, 4*TOWN! My granddaughter loves you guys! Posters and everything. Gotta admit, you guys are pretty cool, you’ve got this 90s vibe goin’ on.” The clerk says with a grin, putting his hands on his hips.

“I don’t mean to bother, but could I get a photo? It’s okay if you don’t wanna.” He asks, and we all nod, glad that he was so kind with it unlike some other people.

“Sure, it’s no problem.” Robaire says, and the four of us gather as the clerk gets his phone out and we pose, snapping a picture. “Oh, thank you, her birthday is the week after next, and I’ll be getting her tour tickets for Christmas, she’ll be so happy.” He says with a smile, sending the photo to his granddaughter.

“Oh, her birthday! Here,” I get an idea, taking a pen out of my purse and grabbing the shopping list from Z’s hands, crossing out the list and turning it over, writing my signature and a happy birthday message before handing it to Robaire as he does the same, then to Z.

He gives it to the clerk, whose smile just got even bigger. “Oh, thank you so much, you have no idea how much happy this'll make her!” He says gratefully, giving us our bags. 

“I’ve kept you long enough, y’all have a great night.” He calls out as we exit, heading to the van and loading it up with our groceries. I turn to Robaire. “I wanna drive.”

“Why?” He questions. “Dude, I like, never get to drive the van, lemme drive!” I say, giving him my best puppy dog eyes as he grimaces. “Ew, never do that again, and fine!’ He exclaims as I fist bump the air and get into the driver's seat as Z and Robaire get into the middle section. 

I connect my phone to the van, deciding to put my SEVENTEEN playlist on shuffle, turning up the volume as ‘Fear’ comes out of the speakers and I drive back to the cabin, all previous feelings replaced with peace and calmness.

I posted this on twitter and I wanted to post it here too cuz I'm a menace idk LMAO heres my (bad) opinions about most Redacted characters. Feel free to talk / disagree with me in fact its encouraged if you wanna!!

Vincent: I like him as a character much more than his plot. "Lovely gets hurt. He has to save them." Repeat til death... actually, continue to repeat post death. While at the same time being similar enough to the freelancer storyline for me to notice (flirtatious immortal magic user who doesnt understand boundaries helps humanborn magic user navigate the magical world, ft being taken advantage of by someone else because of their lack of knowledge, going to damn, etc etc). I really do love him as a character, though, he is so dang sweet, his nightmare comfort is one of my favorites and his character development was great I luv him

Sam: My comfort character, my favorite! I struggle with this because since I joined the fandom, and since the honor of comfort character was bestowed upon him, he has changed a lot, and his original plotline has been neglected imo. Also the jokes about him being old (he is a singular year older than vincent) and a cowboy (he has a southern accent) were never a thing earlier on and honestly they kind of bother me, just cuz they dont make sense to me. If it was occasional that would be fine, but it's become the punchline of every joke? Truly I think my issues started when they became mates, simply because that was a Bonus Audio. Sam set a boundary and then went to bone town in his very next standalone vid. It felt really rushed and unneeded. Maybe I just found comfort in the fact that neither him nor the listener were being sexualized. The one after it was spice too. The fact that imp!Sam exists, that it is a possibility for him to be the way he is there if circumstances were different, alone confuses me and makes me think I've misinterpreted his character. Despite all of that, I love him very very much. The first half of his storyline is amazing and I really hope they bring it back full throttle. The struggle for trust between him and darlin and them becoming partners despite their circumstances is really cool. Both of them being rough and tough and unfeeling on the outside but truly soft and gentle and touch starved 😭😭❤... I love them dearly, especially as a concept and their potential and I cant wait to see more of them and I want them to have a good ending even if I literally cant conceptualize a happy ending for them LMAO

Adam: ... my skrunkly.. I absolutely adore the idea that went into him, and like... his character idk hes just so cool. One of my favorites even if short lived

David: hmmm hmmm... I like him a lot. The beginning of his playlist bothers me, and his talk with Darlin was iffy, but if you get past that stuff, I do really appreciate him. Hes very good. I want to see him sad more I love his angsty stuff and his voice is nice to listen to

Asher: his voice is a cheese grater to my brain. He is my favorite wolf despite this. Before the inversion, I wasn't 100% sold on him, but during and after it? Hes just so good and genuine and soft and I am so down, even if his voice took a second to adjust to. I don't have much to say here simply because hes just very good

Milo: hes good! I didnt pay a ton of attention to him, admittedly. I wish sweetheart got some more focus, theres such a great opportunity there to clarify some stuff about the department

Caelum: please I have a 6 year old brother I dont need another one

Lasko: cute! I like him, not much to say, I ship him with Gavin and FL lol

Gavin: I struggle with Gavin a LITTLE bit, especially earlier Gavin, but more recently I really love him. Especially during and after the inversion. Hes so soft and he cares so dang much

Marcus: as a character and concept I really really like him, as a person I dont

Avior: My second favorite character! Hes SO good I think the story has slowed down recently and I just want to KNOW but also, I dont mind too too much. Hes the character who holds the most of my favorite videos. I just want them to be happy so bad. I relate to him the very most. Hes never done anything wrong in his life. Actually he has but I understand why he did it too much to possibly judge him for it. 10/10 I adore his storyline and his listener and their relationship and I just want everything to be okay for them and I want to see more fluff from him so bad 😭😭 I think he is easily one of the most well written characters and best plot lines, but the stuff after his confession so far couldve been consolidated / shortened and been just as effective

Regulus: Empathy daemons in general being compared to children worries me too much to watch his videos. I have lots of thoughts about (empathy) daemon ages and how they work but I have no idea what's canon and that in and of itself is the problem

Vega: My third favorite! Absolute love of my life I loved him before anyone else fuk u guys prime Vega is perfect (/j) and I am SO excited to see where his story goes I love being manipulated I love how hes a total monster but hes so chill about it he has gaslit me into thinking hes a good person and I'm cool with it I love him so much hes probably my favorite to listen to he is very well written and his voice is so soothing 10/10

Alexis: Unpopular opinion time: She did nothing wrong. Sam is absolutely allowed to be upset, hes allowed to be pissed, hes allowed to never forgive her. He can feel whatever he needs to to get through what happened to him. She did nothing wrong and I will die on this hill. Maybe she should've given him longer to try to save himself. Maybe she could've been more gentle. They were BOTH panicking. They were both in shock. Vincent was turned against his will under very similar circumstances. He hated william for it. But we dont villainize William, in fact we praise him for saving Vincent. For all we know, Alexis has a very positive relationship with being a vampire and her own turning, and didnt really understand the gravity of the change she was about to put him through. I'm not saying shes a perfect character with no flaws, or that we should praise her, but she did a perfectly human thing. I dont see how saving someone you love and then never ever pushing when they dont want to see you again could possibly mean she had bad intentions or is a bad person

There is something clarifying about the written word. It puts your thoughts in order, and it allows your mind to free up and analiyze everything with more of an outsiders perspective.

It also feels more final, as if when you put your thoughts and feelings in writing they solidify.

I dont think I ever sent a letter. Maybe once, when I was still very little, but I would have a hard time remembering to whom or what kind of silly child things I put in there. But for all intents and purposes, i never did. I grew up already with Internet and even if cell phones were still in diapers, and i had my first flip phone when I was 15, there were easier, more immediate ways to communicate than writing a letter.

I think there is a certain charm to it, and im sad that it was one thing sure to be lost with the passing of decades. There is something final, and even romantic, to the idea of sitting down with a person in mind, and writing pages of thoughts and experiences you want to share. And it combines up nicely with my initial thought, it forces you to be sure of your mind, because you are not only putting in writing whats on it, you are sending it to someone else, essencially letting it go and trusting another person to take care of it, of any feelings or secrets you shared.

In a way, i actually think it brings people closer and makes them comunicate more than modern messaging apps, where everything is inmediate and you dont have to sit down and think what you want to communicate, you just talk. And what usually comes out of it is small, meaningless talk. You share less, you expose yourself less, because there is no need to go further, because the other person is there, in your phone, and you cant talk when ever you want. But you don't.

I write this all with a person in my mind, as I would if I were to write a letter to him. I suppose it sort of is, and maybe if i knew his address I would send it, if it would not make me look odd and crazy. That is another funny thing, i know quite a lot about him, and i have no idea where he lives. He is in quite a diferent time zone, that I do know.

I would write about my life, about my graduation. About my job. Maybe about this guy I have been seeing. With as much candor as I told him all about my life back when we met in Spain. I would tell him that summer sunshine is starting to show up here in the mornings, and that they are starting to feel like christmas to me. Sunny and windy. But that we are still in winter, and the roads are dangerous because of all the rain, so I havent been to my hometown since August and the rainy afternoons make me sad. I would ask him about autum, which is a season I still havent experienced, and if the leaves turn gold in his city, or if its just cold. Maybe I would even invite him to come over here in december or january, and escape the cold of his winter. And i would like to hear all the details of his life, how is the training going, where he is right now, if he feels happy in a new city, if he has made new friends. Anything.

But all I have is his phone number, and our last conversation was a short, meaningless one, exactly one month ago. And i find a wall between me and this person whom I confided in and who confided in me with some very personal conversations before we even knew who we were. Its a digital wall, made up of inmediate satisfaction and hedonism, that repels depth and meaning, and true feelings. Because we dont have to, because society has made introspection and delayed gratification obsolete, and nobody sits down half an hour, pen and paper, with someone else in mind.

im so tired of other people. i just.

one of the adults has an outside cat thats allowed to just roam around wherever. i think he lives like the equivalent of at least 4 blocks away from this house. ive seen the cat around this yard maybe twice, enough to recognise it. but yesterday me and another adult spotted it in the stable. we spent like at least half an hour closing every door and then trying to find the damn thing, because the adult had heard that the cat's owner (first adult) was looking for it. the owner didnt respond to texts asking what to do about the cat, so after waiting quite late for a reply, the adult just opened the doors. i think they're kept open so the air ventilates properly.

a lot of work and worry over nothing.

tonight i went to feed the stable cats, and as i was looking for the older one, i heard loud meowing outside, in the rain. immideatly i rushed over, because i was obviously worried that something had happened to the cat. turns out it was the adult's cat again. it was being intimidating towards the stable cat who was hiding under some carriages. my first thought upon seeing the roamin cat was "that's not the right cat", afterwards which i tried to approach it, but it ran away and was clearly not going to let me get closer. in my panic i ran inside to ask the owner of the cat if they want to catch it or something, since it was apparently not been seen for a while before yesterday. he said "no, that's okay" in the most casual of tones.

i went back to take care of the cats and ducks. the older cat was constantly looking around, clearly searching for the roaming one. when i was about to leave i saw the roaming cat run away from the older cats kibble bowl. i had been wondering why they were running out so fast.

i went inside and asked again if its okay that the cats roaming outside, since its eating the older cat's food and being confrontational toward it. again the most casual "yeah they're allowed to be outside". i tried to clarify that i was asking because i was worried about the stables cats, not the roaming one. he clearly didnt get it, thought i was doubting his words, and just repeated that his cat is allowed to roam around the yard. i just stared at him for a moment.

i dont. this isnt even that big a deal. its just the final straw you know. its not that the adult doesnt care about the stable cats,, its probably just that he knows that his cat won't do any legitimate harm to them. but I just. I spend all this energy worrying over this cat that i dont know, only to hear its owner be so indifferent about it all. im just frustrated. not at the adult really. its just an annoying and frustrating situation. but god can i not take any more of those.rrrŕrŕ.r....oops. i didnt notice my thumb was touching the screen lol.

the manga anthologies (which is what the j/npr manga is) canonicity is actually even weirder than the official manga (shirow miwa and bunta kinami versions) or comics. basically no one on the writing team agrees on where they are canon-wise, with Kerry calling them "things that could take place in the show if [the writers] had more time" and Miles just straight up saying that they're like "awesome fanfiction" (though Kerry also says that they gave feedback to the artists to keep the stories in line with canon so?? if knightfall not endgame why keep it in 🤨🤨)

this isnt me raining on your parade or anything i just think that the way that canon works for certain side projects for the story is absolutely wild and the manga anthologies being the most ambiguously canon is my favourite fun fact. maybe mercury flirted with ruby after they locked torchwick up at the end of v2 at a banquet held in team r/wby's honor, maybe he didnt. maybe cinder had a dream about how pretty jaune is, maybe she didnt. we just dont know! Sorry I took a bit to reply I was in a really bad mood. I appreciate you clarifying these elements about the canon. I generally avoid reading what creators say about their texts as much as possible because it near-universally annoys me even when I agree with them. I just don't want to know. It like breaks the magic. But it is helpful to know specifically about the canonicity so thank you.

I have a broader methodological issue which is giving me intense mental pain than just the manga being canon or not, but that's something to consider anyway. I still think it's freakishly weird they put The Prince and Me in. They're probably not aware I'm searching for Cupid and Psyche themes. It works bizarrely well and it annoys me, because you even get the masked supernatural lover elements lining up, and some twisty subversion because Cinder is the monstrous one. But I'm just an idiot reading into stuff. That's my problem.

I also just don't know why they'd slip in something romantic with Jaune and Cinder. Like that's not a pairing they'd be shipbaiting, there's no fandom to shipbait for, it's controversial because Cinder killed Pyrrha, the dream is literally about Cinder killing Pyrrha then it becoming Cinder being hit by Cupid's arrow noticing how pretty Jaune is, like here I was worried that writing my Knightfall fanfic would make me seem insensitive? They literally just smacked romance right over the murder that people keep bringing up like it's a topic I've never considered and something we all need to be really cautious about because of Pyrrha. :(

like it's kind of a joke, and I can't tell if they were catering to their audience shoe-in there or what but it's bad. Probably one of my least favourite sequences in the whole show, it completely negates the purpose of Pyrrha's character to the point it makes me thematically question what they were trying to do with her and it subverts the point of the fatal flaw.

Like I get the emotional takeaway is 'It's worth going on despite the loss and it wasn't all in vain' but also, gaudy golden statue and mysterious woman. Horrible.

If you were to build your perfect scifi military, Would your weapons be plasma, ballistic, laser or other?

On top of that, why, what platform would you use as a base(If you could choose an existing or base your arms on a nonexistent, already scifi design) and how would you utilize them? Assuming you dont combine the why and how.

Personally, I think ballistics, plasma and lasers all have their niches.

Primary ground combat weapons would be ballistic--lasers and plasma are too vulnerable to disruption by dust, rain and vegetation, along with tactical factors like being more likely to betray your position and logistical ones like being far, far less energy efficient than doing the same damage with ballistics.

I see chemically-propelled rounds (i.e. gunpowder) having a niche, particularly for civilians, but militaries would prefer coilguns as mainline weapons--they'll have base powerplants and ship reactors for energy, and slugs you can make out of an auto-lathe you feed any old asteroid's nickel-iron, plus they're inherently multirole weapons even without parts swapping because you can adjust the power per shot and, proportionately, rate of fire (up to a mechanical limit proscribed by the capacitors) over penetration risk, and so forth. Railguns (as small arms) would see some use for anti-materiel work but be much less prominent.

Lasers I see as the primary option for space combat (zero-gee raids, boarding actions on ships and space stations, and so forth), largely on account of functionally nonexistent recoil and extreme range with a good focusing apparatus (which comes in handy when your engagement range can suddenly go from 5 feet to 5 miles and back)

Plasma is more niche, as it can punch a hole in just about anything, kill nearly anything immediately behind that whole and then that plasmoid is effectively neutralized. You're more likely to see special weapons or, depending on how much the tech can be miniaturized, underbarrel plasma projectors than anyone using them as a primary weapon. Particularly since they're liable to blind anyone with unprotected eyes when fired.

Dual-stage Micro-rockets and such would be a specialist weapon for the likes of SF motherfuckers (or private outfits willing to drop more money per troop) since even if they can be rolled out in batches by a futuristic 3D printer, they're still more time-consuming and costly than regular dumb slugs.

i wouldn’t say somnophilia is necessarily bad. looking at the actual definition, it is becoming sexually aroused by someone who is sleeping. if it’s acted upon consensually between two parties, it is completely okay and can be used as a fetish, but when done non-consensually, it would be classified as rape.

there isn’t any scene where there is direct somnophilia. the fic has you, the reader, having a wet dream (this is the main focus of the fic). in an extra part included at the very end of the fic, levi hears you moan in your sleep and gets aroused by it, but he doesn’t know that you’re asleep (he assumes you’re just masturbating). looking at a literal perspective, i think it would be categorized as somnophilia, which is why i just included the tag.

“Is he sleeping?” Kara asks Alex quietly.

Alex’s gaze flickers to the couch, where Brainy is lying on his side, a blanket tucked over him. “Finally.”

Kara sighs and sinks into a chair by the window. “Thank God.”

Ever since getting hit by a taser during a fight an hour ago, Brainy’s been trembling and clearly in pain. If he’s finally sleeping peacefully, hopefully that means it doesn’t hurt anymore.

“He’ll be okay,” Alex says, sounding more confident about that fact than Kara feels. “He told us he’ll heal.”

“I know,” Kara says, looking absently out the window. “It’s just- Wait, is that Brainiac?”

Alex joins Kara at the window and looks down at the bedraggled figure in the middle of the street. “I think so,” she says, clearly confused. “It’s pouring rain. What is he doing out there?”

Kara goes over to the door and grabs an umbrella. “I’ll go down and find out.”

It’s a bit chilly outside, but not too bad as long as you’re dry. Kara opens her umbrella and makes her way over to where Brainiac is standing in the street, staring up at her apartment window.

“Brainiac?” she calls, a little warily. “What are you doing here?”

Slowly, Brainiac lowers his gaze to look at Kara. “I heard about what happened to Querl,” he says. “I wanted to make sure he was alright.”

“You should come in,” Kara says, gesturing towards the door. “It’s pouring out here, and you’re soaking wet.”

Brainiac looks at Kara and sighs. “I do not deserve your kindness, nor your forgiveness.”

Kara blinks, not quite sure how the conversation got here. “You should come inside,” she repeats, not knowing what else to say.

“I will go,” Brainiac says instead. “Just- Is Querl alright?”

“He’s sleeping,” Kara says. “He said he would be fine.”

Brainiac nods slowly. “Thank you, Kara Zor-El.”

“Are you sure you won’t come in?” Kara asks. She doesn’t know why she’s so worried about Brainiac’s condition - a few weeks ago, she would bar her door against him, not invite him in - but she still doesn’t feel entirely comfortable leaving him out here on his own.

“I will return to the DEO,” Brainiac says. “Take care of Querl.”

“I will,” Kara promises.

Brainiac turns to go, and Kara watches him take a few steps, then she rushes forward and holds out the umbrella. “Here, take this.”

Brainiac blinks at her. “What?”

“Take the umbrella,” Kara clarifies. “I’m just going back inside, so I don’t need it. But it’s a long walk to the DEO, and you might as well try to keep dry as much as possible.”

Brainiac stares at Kara for a long moment, then he wraps his hand around the umbrella handle, carefully not touching Kara’s hand. “Thank you, Kara Zor-El,” he says again, this time with a hint of wonderment in his tone.

Kara offers Brainiac a small smile. “Take care of yourself, Vril Dox.”
