if you were to summarise sirius' personality and character traits, how would you do it?
hi hi hi! so sorry for long this took but okay, so, let’s do this.
so, his CORE trait for me will always be loyalty, hands down. i once waxed poetic about sirius’ devotion to the potters to my friends for like, half an hour straight (one of them actually teared up). the way he talks about james even after so many years, how his first instinct is always to look out for harry, how everyone talked about him & j even when they believed he was the traitor—all of it just really drives home how he gives all of himself to someone when he decides to. if someone’s his person then he’ll do whatever it takes for them (if you’re not, tho? ur lucky if u even get a look in ur direction)
he’s also very competent. he was probably brought up as a pampered heir, with access to all the resources his little heart desired, so coupled w his innate ability/potential/aptitude, it becomes a deadly combination. he uses logic to work through things, prides himself on his intelligence, and probably wouldn’t like hanging out with people who can’t atleast match him in some sense (so laziness/incompetence grates badly).
as a corollary, he’s also pretty arrogant, in that casual sense that old money people are ykwim? he’s had the world on a silver platter his entire life, and even when he’s cut off from it, it’s still a part of him. there’s also the fact that he’s got a lot going for him—looks, power, smarts wise—and that just adds to it. so it can be off putting or it can be hot or both, but he has a superiority complex and he doesn’t exactly hide it. less interaction with the plebs, the better for him.
irreverence and dark humor!!! sirius copes using morbid jokes and making people uncomfortable; he has slight control issues and this way, he makes sure everyone’s always on their toes. it’s also like,,,a way to kind of gauge how others will react to him based on how they deal w his humor. bc he’s not sunshine and roses, right? and he doesn’t want anyone treating him like it or expecting him to be so. and in a way, their reactions to his jokes correlated to their degree of acceptance for him.
intense. when it comes to things he likes, he’s very passionate about it, almost with a single minded focus. and it can get A Lot. he operates in a lot of extremes, right? so either 0 or 100 and this comes across in the way he interacts with people, the level of interest he shows to things, and how much effort he puts in, if it’s His Thing, then he won’t leave a stone unturned but if he doesn’t care? then he will not give a single shit
soooo, these are some of the things i very strongly believe in for sirius 🙈 tell me what u think? (and as always, @artemisia-black has some great metas on sirius’ character so i’d recommend checking those out for sure!)

Why do you think Matsuda was grinning when he offered to make the eye deal in Death Note? For that matter, what do you think would have happened if he had? How could it happen? What would happen differently if Matsuda died and Soichiro lived? Honestly, I just really want to know about this AU, and you seem like the fandom Matsuda expert!
hehehe i LOVE this question!!!
matsuda is someone who desperately wants to be useful. far from this being something he learns to deal with through the series, it's a need that gets exacerbated as the story goes on. he has a deep-seated anxiety about being useless, and this fuels a lot of his actions. theres a reason his Yotsuba Shenanigans were prompted by him being brushed off repeatedly by L and told to just do menial tasks. he wants to be important to the investigation, and at first, he's just kinda stupid about it — willing to put himself in danger to be useful, but it seems more like just recklessness than deliberate self-sacrifice. like he doesn't really understand the stakes
this...changes, after the timeskip. matsuda still gladly puts himself in danger, but there's a tint of desperation to it. like he better understands the danger, but that doesn't change anything. one standout example is when matsuda tells soichiro to tell mello that matsuda is L — it's very clear that this puts matsuda in massive danger, but he does it anyway. and, crucially, soichiro goes along with it. there's a new degree of trust there — the task force knows now that matsuda is gonna pull this shit and there's nothing they can do to stop him. and of course light picks up on it.
like, the thing about matsuda volunteering to take the eyes is that it's not an out of nowhere thing like the Yotsuba Shenanigans were. light was surprised by that. but five years later, he knows matsuda a lot better — enough to know he'll volunteer to take the eyes.
venturing into the realm of conjecture and hc, i think there's a few things going on here. i think that matsuda is someone who really keenly feels the danger they're in, and is most afraid when he's helpless. to him, that fear goes away when he's Doing Something About It. and i think this meshes well with my h/c that matsuda was on a riot unit prior to the NPA. while everyone else is a thinker and investigator, matsuda is a doer. he feels a lot of anxiety when he's just sitting around, and feels useless because he's not much help in the more cerebral parts of the investigation. but then something Must Be Done and Action Must Be Taken, and matsuda is in his element — he doesn't hesitate to come forward, and feels a rush of relief as he finally has some degree of control over the situation. so i kinda read his happiness as him finally having a way he can be useful and something he can do to catch kira.
as for what would have happened if he did take the eyes...well, it's not a happy story, and there's a damn good reason that light planned for him to take them. matsuda absolutely would have killed mello. wouldn't have even let him open his mouth. he doesn't have the same hangups around the death note that soichiro does — hell, after the chief's death, he was willing to let near use the death note to kill mello, though it's hard to know just how much of that was motivated by mello basically killing soichiro. light would have then used matsuda to prove the 13-day rule by killing him after he didn't write any names for 13 days. it would have been SO easy to convince matsuda's self-sacrificing ass that it was better for him to die than to live by killing criminals with the death note or something.
....though, well, there is a chance that, riding the high of the raid, light would have taken a risk. after all, he already thought matsuda understood him, and matsuda killing mello would only prove that further. why not have matsuda kill a death row criminal every 13 days? why not eventually escalate it to matsuda killing an escaped death row criminal? you see where i'm going with this. it would be a crack to open up, to start to let kira's ideology infiltrate the task force.
that could potentially work if soichiro died — it's pretty heavily implied that he would have only lived a few days after the raid if he didn't take the eyes anyway. but if soichiro lived, i don't think matsuda could have been convinced to use the death note after the raid, even to save his own life. matsuda's moral compass for much of the series is the chief, after all

my full Rita backstory headcanons:
(this is before anything ep16 came out and pure conjecture)
Family
Rita was born to ex-convict parents who gave them their best despite harsh conditions.
Rita probably met the Gokkan Yeti very young once.
Rita was given up for adoption to the Gokkan sovereign when the time came to select a sucessor.
They are not adopted right away but they had to leave their family/family name for the sake of neutrality when they enter the royal academy. That happened when they turned 10.
Their parents find it difficult to let go but giving Rita a chance at a better life and to see the wider world is more important.
Rita doesn't fully understand the weight of turning their back on their birth family yet, but they understood where their parents are coming from and wanted to do something for their community.
Gokkan had the reputaion of harbouring criminals and vicious characters but growing up, along with an absolute sense of right and wrong, Rita also saw people who help each other and try hard to begin again.
To be able to judge people not with presumption but a willingness to give them second chances is one of the merit criteria for the Gokkan throne.
God Papillon's will factor in too, somehow.
Over the years Rita has seen many people who are not accepted by society be driven to crime hence their empathy and the line to Jeremy in ep12
Rita's mother taught them about taking responsibilities when mistakes are made.
Rita’s father takes baby Rita on hikes and teach them to identify creatures.
Baby Rita loves to laugh, so much.
with Morfonia
Morfonia was a child pickpocket/cat burglar that was given a second chance at the academy.
Rita and Morfonia are the same age but Morfonia came to court two years later.
Morfonia was a bit rebellious at first but seeing Rita be the teacher's pet sparked her comeptitiveness.
Morfonia headed a one-sided rivalry with Rita for that term.
Morfonia is really smart and ace school without trying but she could just never win against the studious Rita.
Morfonia has never wanted to go to work
When it’s term final and Morfonia finally took top of class this once Rita didn’t show up for some reason, she found Rita buried themself in a Moffun-shaped snow fort.
of which Rita took a page off Morfonia’s book to skip school,
then she became as clingy to Rita as she can within limits of Rita's aversion to physical touch.
(when i say class i mean them joining the groups of 5 adult staff taking continued studies)
They probably have a lot of teenage misadventures together and Predecessor would scold Morfonia for “bad influencing” Rita, but they saw Rita needed those fun times too.
Rita “what is sleep” Kaniska
The Gokkan throne:
Meritocracy (x
the Gokkan throne is probably not for life, just that no one really wants to take the job it feels like life
It’s a high-risk job but some sovereigns did retire
gender neutral is not throne-related/demanded
Predecessor’s political assassination pushed Rita to hold neutrality to the extreme
Kaniska is the royal family name!
Rita took the throne at 17 (8 years ago) (that still somehow made them the last to be crowned... hc: Yanma at 15 but gradually (x
There's an apprentice period where Rita shadows the Sovereign more closely in the last three years. This is cut short with their mentor's death.
Predecessor might’ve died because they know too much of Shugoddom’s dirty secrets? Or they delivered an unjust verdict in exchange of Gokkan's interest and it backfired?
my Predecessor is probably someone they look up to, but wouldn’t dare go too close even though they legally can (or the fact that Predecessor does see them as their child); give lenient sentences a bit too often in Rita’s eyes; a bit too close to Shugoddom to Rita’s liking; has a sweet tooth
Rita struggled on when to give harsh and lenient sentences until Predecessor died
Other ideas I want to develop more on:
RITA IN THE AIDE UNIFORM
Rita’s relationsip with Predecessor
RITA GOING ON AWKWARD OFFICIAL VISITS TO EACH COUNTRY AFTER THEY ASCENDED (but it's the first time they left home…)
Combat training!
tradional arts and customs of Gokkan
GOKKAN SNOW FESTIVAL PLS
administration in Gokkan
Rita with northern lights! with sunlight cycles!
How did Rita and Kaguragi meet???
Kaguragi-Racles-Rita older gen/frenemies combo
I don't have very concrete headcanons about their gender expression as I don't have much personal experience on this. But I think it's something along the lines of, they never really gave much thought of it because the answer was obvious. They don't particularly align with one gender or another, it's just, it doesn't matter what gender I am in regards of my abilities to perform my duties as sovereign? so it's not really anyone's business to be nosy either.
i would not be immune to if in younger days Rita used to dress ‘lil princess’ but i don’t think that’s where canon’s going (but the "tutu" in Rita's room??!!!?!?)
Rita’s coronation ceremony or Rita in regal CLOAKS
Will Rita have a “break out of the cocoon” arc?
tbh Gokkan choir deserve their own episode

Oh my god dude, you can't just say "Jade is the fighter and Kit is the paladin" without going into some more intense detail about that!!!!
(my personal HC has been Jade is an Oath of Devotion Paladin who switches what her devotion is, and Kit is a Champion Fighter who takes levels in Paladin later...)
augh ok so. i'm gonna start with a base of thinking that for most characters, a mutli-class build probably makes the most sense for a lot of them (for instance boorman's generally seen as a rogue-type because of things he's mentioned about his past, but he doesn't really take part in certain classic rogue activities (being sneaky, has a huge sword) so it could also be argued that he's more of a melee fighter type with some rogue or bard charisma skills, or vice versa) but for the sake of argument we're gonna stick with one class with the presumption that they're all fairly low level (with the exceptions of willow and boorman, but we're not really talking about them here so they aren't really relevant).
some of this is also going to rely on outer knowledge and conjecture on things like what the fuck the blood of the six is.
i don't know if you watch critical role at all, but liam o'brien's current character orym is kind of a perfect example of what a fighter devoted to a) a cause and b) their party can look like. brian murphy's gerard of greenleigh over on d20's neverafter is also a great example of what a fighter can look like when they're concerned about protecting/helping their party members in battle instead of tanking. i feel like this fits in pretty well with jade's character and how she conducts herself in a lot of battles, whereas towards the end of the season....kit very much does not. but we'll get to her in a second.
on jade's part, i think a lot of it has to do with how her training has progressed. the comparison of fighter to knight can be a bit reductive towards both sides of it, but for ballantine specifically i think it works pretty well - the knight is dedicated to serving their cause and doing it well, but they aren't necessarily looking to...."make that anyone else's problem," let's say (in terms of looking at a paladin's oath as a kind of "light side" to a warlock's pact). jade is a talented sword wielder, and she is very devoted to serving her cause (which, at the start of the series, is very much the crown/throne, with a dash of "gay for the princess" thrown in), but she DOES want to leave to train to be a proper knight. not knowing much about the world, i would say that with her express interest being in going to join the legion to come back to be a knight in tir asleen (presumably), this doesn't really count as that "something more/someone else's problem," and this is fairly standard practice for a lot of knights. i also think a lot of her strive for something else can be given to straight characterization - going by the character creation formula, this could be attributed to her "background" as an orphan, ward, etc., where she's trying to prove herself in a way that she can recognize in others (ballantine, the whole story of sorsha and madmartigan, etc). plus, with the way we see her allegiance shift over the series from the crown/sorsha/tir asleen to kit specifically...if jade is a paladin, she certainly wouldn't have an oath yet. overall, the specific ways in which she devotes herself to things reads to me more as a fighter with something to prove than as a "core" aspect of her personality, though this could certainly change. i'm not totally sure what subclass i would give her, but i wouldn't put battlemaster out of the question.
to me, a paladin oath is something that a character has a near wholistic devotion to, something that directly complements their existing skills and personality. from a general standpoint, switching oaths doesn't make much sense to me - i feel like it'd be more likely for a paladin that wants to switch focus or expand to go for a multiclass than an oath change. this is definitely situational - oathbreaker is a choice for a reason, and i could totally see something happening to a devotion paladin that makes them go redemption or vengeance. but in any case, aside from the oath itself complementing skills already available, there is something about being a paladin that speaks to me as being intrinsic to a character's being - it requires looking at something, whether an idea or an entity, and fully devoting yourself to it. and that can absolutely be worked on or grown into down the line, anyone is capable of developing that, and i know the way i described it doesn't sound that dissimilar from marriage, but at the point we are in the story now...the only one i personally see fitting this is kit.
which is weird! because one of the first things we know about kit is that she wants to leave! she wants to run away, and she doesn't necessarily have a plan or something she's running towards but she's thought about and talked about it enough that jade knows about it.
but...
immediately after, airk gets taken. and she is immediately devoted to the sole purpose of getting him back. despite my tags on your post, i do think there were a couple of moments where kit could have stood to slowing down for a second (the wildwood comes to mind - specifically in wanting to move so fast that she kinda just tells everyone who she is and behaves rashly, which backfires, instead of taking a second to think things through). but even beyond kit not being wrong about her focus, i believe she would have been like that regardless of the perceived time constraint. i think she would have been like that if jade got taken from the castle by bone reaver forces. i do not think she would have been like that if graydon had been taken lmao.
as it stands now/at the start of the show, the thing kit is devoted to is the people she cares about. like with jade, i don't think she would have an oath before leaving on the quest, but i DO think she already had the baseline "looking for something greater" in terms of proving herself (mostly to sorsha at this point) to start getting into the first levels of a paladin class.
this is where the meta shit starts coming in. this is so many fucking words i'm so sorry.
so. bavmorda. fey. blood of the six. they KNOW we d&d bitches love our fucked up bloodlines this feels like a targeted attack.
here is the entirety of info i could find on the blood of the six: "the blood of the six is a bloodline of strong, but corrupt, sorcery... six fays betrayed the mothers to serve the dark power." the line continued, bavmorda found out she was of the bloodline, therefore sorsha kit and airk are also. quote taken from wiki. obviously this gives me a lot of headcanon power.
i think airk being taken was circumstance. i think if kit had been a little faster about saying bye to jade, or if she had decided to not do so at all, she could have been the one taken (if anything in the show contradicts that or says they were looking specifically for airk, lmk, my memory of ep 1 is a bit fuzzy lol). from what i can tell they wanted someone with a link to the wyrm (bavmorda was part of its order or whatever the fuck), and the blood of the six likely had something to do with it.
this gives kit a direct line to magic, something that paladins utilize but tend to gain at a slower rate than primary spellcasters. obviously a direct connection to magic isn't required, since a paladin is going to be swearing to a deity or a fey or whatever that would then grant them further powers, but it certainly doesn't hurt. of course, neither jade or kit use magic, so this argument can get pretty wibbly, but honestly if you were an orphan knight/a gay princess interested in swordfighting her "best friend" would you think you had magic? probably not. no i am not thinking abt the homoeroticness of lay on hands, go away.
while kit doesn't start out with an oath, i think she ends the season with one. the cuirass in particular feels like a paladin artifact to me (for every theory i've seen of why it works - using it for a good cause and not greed? mjolnir-style worthiness? the wearer's belief in themself? the belief of the person that puts the lux in? wow. and then it has built-in features that allow the wearer to protect the wearer's party? come on). but in terms of moments.....
i've discussed the paladin's oath being a reaching out to something greater and an intrinsic part of the paladin's character, and paladin-ness in general being a wholistic devotion to a cause. an oath doesn't have to be planned, it can be a spontaneous moment of utter certainty and connection. and kit absolutely has a moment like that.
it's when she's standing at the edge of the world, kneeling with her forehead pressed to elora's, with jade standing in the background.
(sorry i just went and rewatched the scene and bitch. oh my god. "my fear doesn't get to decide, it doesn't get to define me. i'm not giving it the power, i'm giving it to you. i have never believed in anything my whole life...i believe in you" HELLO. first off that's a paladin oath if i've ever heard one second why do you two look like you're about to kiss? why is jade framed in the background like that? she's in focus and then kit and elora stand up and she's not anymore what am i supposed to do with this what the fuck. literally staring into each other's eyes at the end of the world oh my god. i'm a tanthamore girlie but jesus christ. JADE KNOWS WHAT'S ABOUT TO HAPPEN THIS IS THE GAYEST THING I'VE EVER SEEN. KILORADE FOR THE WIN 20WHENEVER THE FUCK)
i don't think that the thing kit swore to was elora, but in this moment, she is elora's sworn protector. and what elora needs to do is go over the edge, and what kit needs to do is help her. kit literally turns them so that elora's back is to the edge and she goes over first. elora goes, kit follows what is at the very least a representation of her oath, and jade follows her. knight follows her paladin follows her sorcerer. somehow this is about to turn into kilorade propaganda so i'm gonna cut myself here.
i have a couple of oaths for kit in mind based on some uh...other theories i've talked about and how those theories might work in a fake season 2 that i've made up in my head, so i might talk about those separately if anyone's interested cause this got far too long lmao.

Hcs with Riku and G/N Reader who suffers from anxiety?
Again, I'm fortunate enough to not be living with any kind of anxiety disorder so I'm personally inexperienced, but I'll try my best to portray this experience. I added a little to do with panic attacks just to offer a little bit more help. And my first Riku ask- I used to live off of the one song of David Gallagher's 'cause I really loved Riku. (think all that love was really just relating to him tho lol) Enjoy!
Riku helping a Reader with an anxiety disorder (+ panic attacks)
Tumblr media
So, Riku is probably the guy to go to with sort of issue. Others can be loud, too pushy and pressing with too many intrusive questions...but Riku understands. He knows the value of comfortable silence.
Riku understands the experience of having too much noise, too many noises in one's head that can spark intrusive thoughts - dark thoughts that make everything seem like it's all for nothing, that every single eye is on you, that those disembodied eyes are judging you...having your body possessed, being manipulated your life, and spending a lot of time in the Realm of Darkness will do that to a boy.
He doesn't need to know why you feel like this or what spawned this darkness in you because, as harsh as it may sound, Riku doesn't care. But, hear him out, this isn't because he doesn't care for your well-being - quite the opposite, actually: whatever it was, Riku would care for you just the same either way.
He knows that being asked directly about such things can be painful, raking out memories of dark pasts and terrifying events in one's history whether that be a diagnosis that came at a bad time and ended up being extremely scary, or painful events that you'd rather not remember.
Either way, Riku will sit as close or as far to you as you want, quietly talking you to ground you into reality, reminding you of what's real, and what's just the darkness making conjecture in your mind. He won't let it take a hold of you and crush you. He's going to use his own experiences and your closeness as friends as the strength he has to protect what matters: you.
Terra's phrase stays with him every step of the way for your time together. It stays with him as he escorts you to and helps you with any kind of therapy he recommends or when he reminds you to take any specialist medication you've been prescribed. His wellness of mind and adoration for you is his strength and you are what matters to him.
His been through his own therapy sessions, so can help with perhaps guided self-help and is a major contributor to any kind of cognitive behavioural therapy - helping to remind you that these anxious thoughts are an overemphasised version of really quite minor problems in your life, and then helping you to solve these problems.
But, if you're particularly in a slump and really cannot being yourself to say go outside or talk to anyone, Riku is happy to step in and, say, do your shopping for you or politely cancel plans for you. He won't tell them outright that you're suffering from any kind of disorder, but just tells them "They don't feel like it right now, maybe another time."
If you happen to have a panic attack, Riku has been through enough and helped others with enough to know what you need. He's cool, calm, and collected, able to sit you down and tell you that he's there. He reminds you that it won't last long and will pass as long as you let him help keep you safe. He'll remember if you ever told him about any kind of coping mechanisms you might have and help you with that. For him, it's the sound of waves (even someone imitating it is enough,) so he might try that if you can't communicate your needs. If you need space, he's fine with that too, but Riku refuses to leave you alone like this.
If grounding techniques help, he'll try those. Skin-to-skin contact, touching the environment around you, reminders that an panic attack will pass, etc.

How do you think the og boys would handle jealousy?
ok so @bobbysapron is doing an amazing series of asks about jealousy and I love literally all of them, they’re so good, and literally everything they post is so good.
But if I had to conjecture- (also I see your ‘OG boys’ and raise you to ‘the LIs I actually care about’)
Bobby-
He deals with it internally (check my masterlist for more hcs about that because I’ve talked about it quite a bit) but if he’s feeling especially jealous and bitter he’ll handle it by being passive-aggressive. I forget who (reply and I’ll tag you!!) said that Bobby would make comments like “man that guy has a punchable face”, but literally that. If MC has close guy friends, he’ll always be trying cut them down with a subtle “He seems like... REALLY into himself” or “I feel bad for that guy’s future wife”. It’s shady and shitty and would especially bother me, but it’s what he’d do imo
Carl-
He’d get over it by flexing. He doesn’t even realize he’s doing it, but if he’s feeling jealous about a specific guy he’ll buy MC a new dress/earrings and encourage her to wear it around him, or dress extra nice (which for Carl means googling ‘Mens Fashion’ and copying a look verbatim). His emotional permanence is like 2 days, though, so he gets over it really quickly even if MC doesn’t reassure him because he forgets that he was upset and also reasons ‘but she’s coming home with me’.
I just really don’t think Henrik gets jealous. He definitely can have his feelings hurt if MC’s violating his trust, but it never manifests in possessiveness or jealousy.
Rahim-
He bottles it up until he’s really worked up about it, then blames MC. He’ll keep an internal log of ‘she touched his shoulder’ ‘she laughed at his joke for a little too long’ ‘she smiled at him x many times’ and throw it in her face if/when they argue about it. He also wants to flex, but unlike Carl he doesn’t do it reactively. Instead, he’ll just loudly and obnoxiously boast about buying MC jewels/vacations/cars as if that gives him ownership or something. Luckily he doesn’t get jealous very often, only when a guy is very clearly pursuing MC.
Lucas-
Most of his jealousy gets funneled into possessiveness and sexy stuff. He’s really turned on by his girl being ogled by other men, and really only gets properly jealous if MC is actively flirting with someone else. If he is feeling jealous, he broods about it for a while before dramatically giving MC an ultimatum. Of course she picks him and they have pretty forceful makeup sex.
Marisol-
She gets horribly jealous when she feels upstaged or threatened (which isn’t super often because she rightfully knows that she’s a catch) and it manifests in her either being super bratty or trying to make MC jealous in return.  If it’s the first one, she’ll pout a lot and if MC asks what’s up she’ll insist “nothing!” and still be really fussy towards MC. Then, if pressed, she’ll devolve into crying that “I feel like you don’t care about me.” If it’s not that (which let’s be honest, she gets that way if she’s jealous of a woman, if she’s jealous of a man it’ll be this second way), she tries to make MC jealous.
Noah-
I don’t think he gets jealous often if at all. If he does, like Bobby, it’s all channeled inwards and it’s about blaming himself for his failings. He’ll absolutely punish himself if MC is spending a lot of time with a handsome, smart, funny guy.

PLF Advisor Headcanons (’cause why not)
So I’ve been thinking a lot about the PLF advisors, probably more than I should be about characters we barely have faces of. All of this stuff’s probably gonna get flushed down the drain sooner rather than later, and I have been meaning to start actually posting stuff on this site. Might as well share, am I right?
I’m sure I shouldn’t need to tell anyone this at present, but just to be safe, or in case of future readers: the latest chapter was 276 & we know next to nothing about any of these guys except Slidin’ Go, so most of is baseless conjecture. Most of it mine, but I’ll source where I’ve borrowed some ideas. The closest thing to a basis for any of these is “this is probably the kind of quirk I could see someone in this position having” & “these motives and backgrounds sound like what Horikoshi would give to a long-term ally of Shigaraki”. We clear? Everybody got their proper expectations in place? Cool, now let’s get to the fun bits.
Tumblr media
Black (Tactics)
Twice Advisor #3 (PLF Granny)
I won’t lie, I’m organizing this list this way to talk about her first.
Contrary to her appearance, PLF Granny actually used to be a super dangerous criminal and wanted hero killer, before disappearing off the face of the country (see Spinner Advisor #3 for more on that).
Now she’s the PLF’s resident mother/grandmother figure (depending on how old you are).
(She’s secretly not that old though.)
Always willing to help a fellow PLF soldier out of a problem no matter how minor, but would also lecture them for the smallest misbehavior.
Greatly appreciated because not a lot of high ranking PLF members have the greatest motherly figures in their lives rn.
Her quirk is something like Overhaul’s, but a bit weaker and a bit more gruesome. She can fully manipulate any human body she’s touching besides her own; allowing her to close up wounds, lock up muscles, contort limbs, or even just blow you up.
Illegally experimenting with her quirk caused her to accidentally kill someone in her youth, and she’s been on the run ever since.
She’s working with the PLF to improve quirk counseling, believing a society more accepting of quirks would allow kids with dangerous quirks to understand them better & know how to use them safely, so none of them will end up like herself.
Twice Advisor # 2 (Scary Canadian)
“Scary Canadian” really sums up his personality. He’s actually quite nice and polite to hid friends & allies, or otherwise in his downtime. But also you really don’t want to mess with him. Or else.
Needless to say, he and Twice got a long real quick once the underlying tension of their 2 groups going to war had (mostly) passed.
His quirk (along with a funky entire-upper-torso) allows him to energize himself with stored up energy, making him a bit strong, faster, and tougher.
He can also use a lot of energy at once for laser eyes. A useful skill, but it usually puts him out of the fight afterwords.
The energy stores up during sleep, which means he sleeps for an extra few hours each night and leaves him uncharacteristically grumpy in the morning.
He can also build up energy while awake, but it leaves him lethargic so he doesn’t do it while he has paper work to do.
He never wanted to be a hero as a kid, but as he grew older he found that meant people didn't like him using his quirk so much.
He joined the MLA for the simple reason of his experiences making him feel quirks should just be treated as a normal part of a person, instead of an aspect only heroes should be allowed to use/acknowledge.
Twice Advisor # 1 (King Bradly looking guy)
You remember in chapter 258, they mentioned a guy named Sanctum; oldest member in the MLA and believing all the League members are just in puppet positions? This is him.
He doesn’t really mean to come across as that unapproachable & rude, but he finds making sure everyone takes their jobs seriously is more important than being friendly.
As a result, while he & Twice come at odds quite often, they actually work quite well together. He keeps Twice on track and Twice appreciates that.
Much like Yotsubashi, his family has been in the Liberation Army for generations. Their cause is all he’s even known, but he has no regrets, especially now that Shigaraki’s livened the cause up.
I used to headcanon this guy’s quirk as making portals, but that might be someone else’s quirk no so...Earthbending, his quirk is earthbending.
He’s pretty good with it to, what with training with it since he was a little kid. The amount he can move is between that of Pixie-Bob & Gigantomachia, but he outshines them both in control.
He could make a perfectly square, finely-detailed hall a foot underground and no one above it would even feel the earth shifting.
Violet (Guerrilla Warfare)
Dabi Advisor # 3 (Ana)
So most of this is borrowed from @possessedfuzzybear
To catch everyone up: he’s named Ana (which means ‘hole’), he’s Dabi’s emo friend, and his hair is neon green.
See their blog for more info, but be warned: Fuzzy is horny AF. 18+ only, understand children?
His quirk has already been shown: It’s either making holes in stuff, or possibly making portals.
Needless to say, he and Dabi combo well together.
When he was a kid, one of his parents were arrested by heroes and he ended up running away from home before he got put in the system. He ended up meeting PLF Granny and some other runaways, and when she joined the MLA, he followed along.
He wasn’t originally a very active member, but when he saw the perks PLF Granny was getting for her hard work, and more importantly that she was spending those perks on himself and the other runaways; he started going above and beyond to earn his room & board.
Dabi Advisor # 2 (Tube Face)
Another emo of the PLF, which is probably why he’s with Dabi. That said, he’s less close to Dabi because he’s the exact same kind of loner as Dabi was before he got put in charge of stuff. So they resonate with each other, but they don’t exactly talk.
This guy’s quirk is that he has a snake for a tongue; full-sized and it talks in place of his normal mouth.
That’s actually what the tube is for, it’s snake armor.
(2nd guess, and this probably more likely if I’m honest, is some kind of gas quirk. if that’s true though, he’s related to Mustard.)
His story is a typical one; ostracized for having a particularly freaky mutant quirk that, while impressive, went unappreciated outside of heroics. Perhaps he even tried to become a hero, but dropped out, and the Japanese school system is yet another harsh mistress of society.
Either way, he then joined the biggest game in town that’s trying to make quirks more accepted, so he and kids like him can be appreciated instead of ridiculed.
Dabi Advisor # 1 (Happy with his piercings)
This guy’s something like Muscular without quite so many murders; generally just happy to be here doing whatever we’re doing as long as he gets to use his quirk to do it.
Dabi puts on airs of hating him, but really he...mostly doesn’t.
His quirk is actually super speed, which he combos with his impressive muscles to be quite the lightning bruiser.
That said, he’s not that fast. Like, he is to the flash, what Sato Rikido is to All Might. Probably somewhere between Iida before and after Recipro Burst.
His motivations are, as stated, pretty similar to why Muscular joined the League, except this guy looked into a slightly more legitimate organization because we was looking to legalize the freedom he was after, rather than simply ignoring legality in general.
He’s not exactly opposed to Shigaraki’s methods though.
Geten Advisor #3 (Pointy Head)
My first though looking at this guy is “His color is Blue”.
Generally, the suit and mouth armor make me think he either has or had ties to big business or heroics. Let’s go with the latter.
He was a humble but fairly accomplished hero, or maybe even just a sidekick, when he took down some socially powerful villain the HC didn't exactly want him taking down.
He and his entire Agency were indirectly ruined, and so joined the MLA in hopes of continuing to help people in their own way. Happily for him, that turned out to be fighting against the HC.
His quirk is a simple one: enhanced sight, hearing, and basically all his senses, as well as the ability to process it all very quickly.
To combos this with his swordsmanship to deadly effect.
Having the title of “advisor”, he tends to give lots of advise to Geten (regardless of if it’s wanted), looks out for him, and generally ignores that fact that Geten is his superior, not subordinate.
Geten Advisor # 2 (Sweater Lady)
The PLF Wine Aunt. And she introduces herself like that to people too.
She’s brash but wise, tends to look out for everyone in the PLF when she can, but also shares just a few of Geten’s more worrying views on quirks.
So guys like Dabi & Spinner think there might be hope for her if they can get her to knock that prejudice stuff out, and actually have good reason to think they can, but generally steer clear of her when possible.
Her quirk is something powerful, but disfiguring to her face. My current favorite idea being breathing out a gaseous neurotoxin or something to that effect that makes her mouth look weird.
Her sweater actually hides a series of soft but sturdy tubes that expel the neurotoxin from her arms, because she can aim her arms better than her head.
Her reasons for being in the MLA are basically that with a lack of social changes in the advent of quirks, standards of beauty are as BS as ever for women, even as women like her get weird mutations to their bodies, and especially to the head.
She believes a society more accepting of quirks would be more willing to accept mutations as beautiful, although this has eventually developed into a complex about powerful quirks being beautiful in order to convince herself of her own worth.
Hence everyone’s belief that maybe they can fix that complex of hers once they build a more accepting society. (That and, y’know, they have to work with her anyway.)
Geten Advisor # 1 (Stressed Baldy)
Probably one of the most welcoming advisors to the League because due to this quirk, this man generally ties to say cheerful at all times.
You see: his quirk is tied to his emotions. All of his emotions. Only by not feeling anything in particular, like in the picture above, does it not activate.
That’s actually why he’s in the PLF, he finds in unreasonable that those with hair trigger quirks like himself be forced to not use those quirks in public or face criminal charges.
Well actually, he’s also from an MLA family like Yotsubashi, but his ancestor joined for the same reason; so he’s probably the person born into the MLA with the best reason for still being there.
Ah, but I didn’t explain the quirk itself, what he does depends on what emotions he’s currently feeling.
When Happy, or otherwise feeling positively towards himself: a barrier forms around him right above his skin & clothing. While in this barrier, hits to him are diminished, and his own hits hit harder.
When sad, fearful, or other such emotions: that barrier disappears from around him and instead forms around his allies.
When angry, or otherwise directing negative emotions outward: the barriers appear around his enemies, and then lock in place so they cannot move. They also can’t be hurt in this state, but he can work around that.
Tumblr media
Carmine (Intelligence)
Toga Advisor # 3 (Muscular tank top guy)
The reason he’s in the Intelligence regiment has little to do with his quirk, and a lot to do with his charismatic and friendly personalty. He get’s a lot done just going out and talking to people, and he teaches his subordinates how to do the same.
His quirk is simple x-ray vision. Nothing all that special, but he has learned to use it well in a fight, seeing how the opponent moves like a certain Jojo stand from part 6.
He was also a part of PLF Granny’s group of runaways who joined the MLA when she did. No particularly dramatic reason why, he was just broke & unlucky and she was just nice.
Before they joined the MLA, he did stuff like convince bakeries to give their left over product to the kids at the end of the day.
They ended up joining shortly before the MLA really started making it’s resurgence, so he made a name for himself helping out the new guys. And since everyone was already looking up to him, the higher-ups gave him a good position to keep doing that.
That’s his job with Toga too, introducing her to the ins and outs of the PLF. They also tend to talk romance and cute things (like I said above, he’s good at talking to people), so they get along pretty well despite underlying tension.
He finds her crushes on multiple enemies worrisome though, for multiple reasons, and is trying to build up the nerve to talk to her about that.
Toga Advisor # 2 (R2D2 Expy)
Little can we tell from the above picture, that’s just his head (and extremely long neck). He has a torso and such below.
His quirk is actually being a cyborg, and most of his body is augmentable.
He has multiple weapons he can attach and detach from himself and automatically control like any other limb.
It wares on him to attach to much to himself though, so he won’t be augmenting himself with any large equipment.
The R2D2 head is a disguise he wears to PLF meetings, and he intends for it to be his official villain outfit once he hits the field.
It’s not his only look though. He has numerous faces and various identities to go with them. It’s how he joined the Intelligence division.
He’s a Star Was fan (obvs).
Toga doesn’t talk to him much, what with him not being very cute. He mostly takes care of managerial tasks with his underlings, and organizes reports for her.
He also works at Feel Good Inc., & only really joined the MLA because he was invited by his boss, Skeptic. He got a promotion out of it and still feels like he’s on the winning side though, so he’s not complaining.
Toga Advisor # 1 (Beautiful Woman)
The advisor Toga most depends on, this woman tends to do all the work Toga’s less than qualified to handle as a 17-year old.
Frankly, Toga kind of looks up to her as a powerful feminine figure in her life, especially since she’s largely not quirkiest (like Sweater Lady), and her past is pretty similar to Toga’s but she managed to bounce back into a powerful position.
Her quirk is the ability to read minds in short snippets by making eye contact with people, usually whatever they’re thinking of in that moment..
It’s not perfect because people can sort of feel ‘something’ when she reads their minds, so people who know what she’s doing can just look away. It’s pretty easy to not look someone in the eye.
Giran caught on pretty quick when he was being held hostage.
She pretended to be quirkless to her friends and repressed it well into adulthood, until her quirk was discovered. At that point, not only did people stop trusting her, she was accused of illegal quirk usage and pursued by the police. This was when she found and joined the MLA.
Skeptic Advisor # 3 (Toad Man)
This guy radiates the best and worst of redneck culture, kinda gross, more than a bit judgy; but also inventive, Integrous, and always willing to throw down with corrupt authority figures.
(That said, he’s toned down the prejudice stuff working with so many different people and also Toga threatening him with knives.)
He’s also good at talking to the marginalized and those out in the boonies, which essentially means he’s got an underworld information network all his own, which is half of how he got his position in the Intelligence regiment. In fact, for better or worse, he’s the one who found Giran.
The other half is his quirk; which is, along with general toad-like characteristics, the ability to temporarily eat anything he can fit in that big ol’ gullet of his and analyze it down the the barest physical detail. (”physical” meaning he could find a finger print on a gun and draw it out, but couldn’t read the data on a memory stick.)
His reasons for being in the PLF are simple: like I said, he’s just always willing to throw down with authority figures. He doesn’t care that his quirk isn’t for fighting, he’ll just punch every HC member in the face.
Actually, he’s even more invested now that Shigaraki’s in charge. He wasn’t really feeling the MLA before, but now he’s gung ho about the cause like few others.
Skeptic Advisor # 2 (Ugh...Slidin’ Go)
Being a well known character, there’s not that much to say.
Hmm...
His reasoning for joining the MLA is surprisingly simple: he feels society’s view on quirks is too simple; praising flashy quirks while also forbidding non-heroes from using them where possible, all for the convenience of heroes and the hero industry.
Being so attached to his quirk, he entered into heroics in order to get a quirk licence, but still felt this thought process was backwards and joined the MLA to turn it around.
He’s responsible for a lot of the heroes in the MLA, having found a lot of like minded people in his industry and got them into the Army. A lot of them were actually old classmates of his.
Skeptic Advisor # 1 (Beautiful Man)
The half-brother of Beautiful Woman, he joined because she invited him and he wanted to help her. Not only because she was family, but because he was responsible for her quirk being discovered & he feels he needs to make up for accidentally making her a wanted woman.
He’s not a wanted criminal, so he got a job at Feel Good Inc. and works closely with Skeptic as a sort of secretary that reminds him of his personal affairs.
(In reality though, he manages contact with the MLA/PLF while Skeptic is running his company.)
He gets along with Skeptic as well as anyone can with that personality. Way better than Slidin’ Go anyway.
This quirk is a form of telepathy like Mandalay. There are 3 differences though. 1) he or a part of him must be touching the person to communicate, which he gets around by making bracelets & other accessories with strands of his hair that can be pressed against the wearer’s skin. On the other hand, 2) it’s got no range limit and 3) allows for 2 way communication.
And on one last note: he can always tell who he’s talking too, as well as who might be trying (& failing) to listen in.
Essentially, he’s a hack-proof human communications network, able to pass along information from key PLF members to each other and Skeptic, who can relay the information to other members through more mundane means.
It’s a good back-up for if heroes try jamming or otherwise interfering with those mundane communication methods.
Brown (Support)
Mr. Compress Advisor # 3 (Compress Cosplayer)
The mask is actually new, and actually kind of is Compress cosplay. when he met Compress they just kind of resonated with each other, and Compress decided to make him his apprentice.
It’s only been a few months, but he took to showmanship quite well. And now everyone else around him hates him. Dude just can’t win.
His quirk is basically being living hammer space; he can store things in his body like Momo in reverse & pull them out like Momo in forward.
The catch is that his whole body looks something like an astral CGI monstrosity; his skin is this gelatinous looking goop patterned like space that caused him to be bullied growing up.
Though his past is similar to Sweater lady, his motives are actually more like Spinner’s: living a lonely life, he kind of just joined the first cause that resonated with him in the hope of finding meaning.
He has yet to really find that yet, but at least he found a hobby & a good number of good friends.
Mr. Compress Advisor # 2 (Natsuo’s happier doppelganger)
A popular base commander, this guy has made a name for himself in the PLF for his managerial skills. He takes care of his people, completes his jobs promptly, and is generally pretty intelligent when it comes to resource management.
His job as an advisor is less stellar though. Except for reports, he tends to leave Compress to himself and/or his other advisors. Compress has tried to talk to him but he made fun of the magician act once and now they keep their distance.
He probably has one of the peatiest reasons for being in the PLF among the advisors & lieutenants.
You see, his quirk is that he’s able to make or dismiss a kind of wooden golem to do what he wants, and he often had it do menial labor for him.
That said, while it’s legal for him to do that in private settings, it’s actually illegal in public, and people have gotten on his case about that since he was a kid. What’s more, the reprimands got worse & worse the older he got, so eventually he got sick of it and joined the MLA.
Yeah, he’s part of a terrorist group because it’s illegal to use his quirk to carry his groceries for him.
Mr. Compress Advisor # 1 (Electric Scar Face)
Another descendant of a mainstay family in the MLA, he was actually a friend of Yotsubashi growing up. They’ve drifted a bit in adulthood since he isn’t exactly the business type, but they still work closely enough and keep in touch.
That’s actually most of the reason he’s not exactly on board with Shigaraki being in charge now. He only really heard 2nd hand about what happened in Daika, and he’s pretty biased in favor of the old boss.
All that said, he & Compress probably have one of the most stable lieutenant/advisor relationships; agreeable enough, healthy but minimal disagreements, actually pretty similar humor & they’ve both got good heads on their shoulders with just more than a hint of eccentricity.
We already know his quirk, absorbing and discharging Electricity.
Spinner Advisor # 3 (Cementos’ long lost cousin)
While not actually related to Cementos (probably), I’ve actually grown attached to the idea that he went to UA himself, so here’ the continuation of PLF Granny’s story I promised.
So one day, while working on his internship, he ended up pursuing a wanted hero killer, who he found out was just an old lady who lost control of her quirk and has been panicking ever since. He realized she needed help, but for her crimes she’d surely be sent to Tartarus for life (which is a redundant statement), so he decided to leave professional heroism behind to help her disappear, as well as help her in general.
In the process, they came across a good number of other runaways, and when the MLA agreed to shelter them in exchange for labor and generally joining the cause, they agreed.
As an advisor, he has a good professional relationship with Spinner, and they often discuss what they believe heroes should really be like and the failings of their current iterations. As such, he’s ended up growing to the idea of Shigaraki as presented to him by Spinner.
His quirk is the ability to turn into a large whale like creature that’s able to move large numbers of forces in it’s mouth through the water. I think it’d be cool if it could move through the ground too, but that might overlap with Machia.
He’s also able to produce and shoot spikes from his skin in either form to defend himself.
He’d probably get along with/relate to Kurogiri if he’s ended up getting some of Shirakumo’s memories by the time he escapes.
Spinner Advisor # 2 (Edgy Spider Guy)
(Just a reminder for those who only remember this guy from the above picture, he was shown to have spider legs in a later chapter.)
Spinner’s gamer buddy among the advisors, as well as the main supporter for his crusade of eliminating mutation prejudice.
Having a spider quirk, no surprise he was bullied in school only to be harassed and marginalized in adulthood. He eventually got a job at Detnarat, and was personally invited into the MLA by Yotsubashi himself.
Along with the extra spider limbs, he can also produce especially strong spider silk, which he can then telekinetically control while close to it. He does’t produce it at a very quick rate, but he’s been able to sew it into his cloak to move it, letting him increase his speed and pull off a few other neat tricks.
The main downside though is a particularly freaky face, which he’s developed a complex about. Thus why he hides his face. He’s got friends working with him about it though.
That said, he’ll probably still keep the cloak after he overcomes this complex because it’s cool.
Spinner Advisor # 1 (Cute Bug Girl)
The last of PLF Granny’s old runaway gang among the advisors.
(there are still others, but they have much smaller rolls, if any.)
She joined after losing her parents to an altercation with the CRC. (Y’know, the Klan looking freaks.)
Her personality is something like a transitioning point between a high school alpha bitch and a wine aunt. Mainly because she looks to sweater lady from Geten’s group as something of a roll model (unfortunately).
Her relationship with her boss, Spinner, is rather tense as a result. She looks down on him for his quirk (though she’s tactful enough to not mention this), but relates to his hardships as a Mutant. As a result, she looks out for him more than she looks down on him, but she’s still kind of waiting for him to prove himself.
Her quirk is the ability to create & control tiny insects about the size of fairy flies (<3mm in length) in vast swarms.
These bugs move pretty silently, so they can act as a fog, fly into people’s mouths and attack them there, or fly into wounds to either stitch them closed or make them worse.
While she doesn’t have an actual PHD, she was trained by several doctors hired by the MLA for many years to make the best of her quirk, and is now the director of the PLF’s medical units, except for small, personal medial units in the other regiments.
General stuff
Just to be clear, though I describe most of these guys & gals relatively nicely, most all of these guys probably have more confirmed kills under their belt than Twice.
(Granted, that’s partially because Twice doesn’t really confirm his kills. We only know of 2, including the guy he murdered after he was himself murdered. But that still means everyone here has killed several people.)
Each of these guys have their own base to watch over, you’ll remember, and part of their responsibilities is either recruiting or eliminating people who learn too much.
Each of them has the job of easing their subordinates into going along with the new leadership, especially the people who weren’t there for Daika. This is kind of tricky because they were also not there for Daika, so they’ve been required to talk with the League members a lot.
It’s helped encourage them to get to know the new management relatively well.
Side note: I’m also willing to bet Trumpet & Redestro have their own regiment; probably an undercover or public relations regiment, and probably have 6 advisors for themselves too. I’m excited to meet them.
And despite how much work I put into all this, I’m also excited to see just how much of it is wrong as we meet these guys for real.

ok not to be That Magnus Stan but seeing your last ask... how do you think adhd/sensory issues might intersect with kink for Magnus? (You don't have to answer jkjljljljkllljlk)
i mean pls be That Magnus Stan tbh, and id be more than happy to answer it 👀👀👀
also the ask you’re referring to is no longer my last ask because it took me a while to finish this up, but anyway
ok so there's plenty of things that apply the same way to the both of them - like hyperfixating on their characters when planning roleplay, definitely the whole thing about how domspace (well, subspace for magnus, but u get it) feels a bit like hyperfocus? like his senses are just honed in and particularly for an adhd person that's just great news. like usually his head is all over the place but when he's in subspace he gets that quiet and he's just focusing on his own pleasure and everything else quiets down for a bit
in that sense i feel like it's the opposite of what anon said about being overwhelmed, like, i feel like the enhanced sensations are good for magnus because again adhd = brain desperately looking for stimuli at all times, so when he's engaging in like, orgasm delay/denial, gangbang and the like, he has a clear thing to focus on, sometimes even more than he can really process, and that kind of satisfies his brain?
udhdudndid that sounds stupid but i hope you understand what i mean, like, of course sensory issues could become bad and he might need to safeword but when he's in the proper headspace and he just allows himself to be washed over by the pleasure and let go, it feels like finally his mind is clear. i don't know if i have adhd, but it definitely feels that way for me. also, he might actually need the overstimulation in order to focus and feel pleasure, sometimes. like anything less he just.... wanders away jdhdudjdi i also feel that way
also, warning again just in case! im not saying "wow ppl with adhd are subs". im just conjecturing about how a person who happens to have adhd and be into subbing (and like, specifically the kind of adhd and kinks i hc for magnus) would feel in regards to how those things overlap and change their experience with their pleasure. or well, magnus specifically, not just any person with adhd. but anyway
also that thing i said about following orders and just letting go, like- usually his mind is going a mile a minute, and as a political leader and someone who's been on his own most of his life etc he just worries all the time. how to present, gesticulate, speak, what to say, what to do, he's always hyperaware of his own movements (because he has to) and worrying about others and their pleasure and comfort and shit, so to get to just lie back, not move - be unable to move, even - follow orders and be a good boy? that's some A+ shit right there
you know? he doesnt have to be anxious about anything or try to keep his thoughts and movements in check and guess ppl's reactions or even worry if he's just following orders - orders he knows he'll enjoy, that he's agreed to, planned for, with someone that he trusts - and feeling the pleasure that comes from that. a huge part of his usual thoughts is finally muted and that helps him feel relaxed and mellow and get into subspace. which again, he craves, because usually adhd brain is just aaaaAAAAAAAAAAAAA and so subspace is a very welcome and even needed break
even from a neurological standpoint, like... adhd is basically lack of norepinephrine in the brain, and orgasms, especially intense ones, release a lot of that, but I'll try not to nerd out too hard here. tho i might have to go back to that in a minute
isnt it performance art that i had a genius thought that i loved and halfway through finishing the last sentence i just forgot it
oh yeah! thinking specifically about rsd and how this comes into play for someone who's into humiliation kink. there are several psychological analyses that postulate that one of the things attractive about bdsm is that it allows you to explore fears and generally bad situations in a controlled environment. kinda like reading fiction or doing extreme sports. so in that sense bdsm is attractive because it allows you to act on those fears and turn them into something 1- safe, 2- under their control, instead of the other way around, and 3- pleasurable
and like... dont get me wrong it's not that magnus is into being told "ur ugly and no one loves you" or something lmao but in a way humiliation kink is enacting a fantasy of rejection/belittling, except turned inside out? like "you're my good little fucktoy, you were made to be fucked like this, you slut" is degrading and belittling and on the verge of calling someone worthless... except positive. because that's what makes them so great to fuck? so in a way this kind of play flips the tables on many concepts because being a "slut" or a "toy" feels like a compliment. and in this process of degradation you are taking the fear of being worthless and making a scenario where that being true is exactly what makes the person worthwhile
idk i might be reaching a bit here cuz i think im into humiliation that's way more hardcore than i think magnus would be like i straight up enjoy being called worthless lmao but i feel like that makes sense, the way that humiliation/degradation play takes your fear of rejection or shortcoming and is like "but if that were true.... that would make you good" like o shit can't argue with that
and again like.... obviously that's all a very careful line as you're dealing with some sensitive stuff, which is why doms need to go through training to be able to deal with the physical and mental implications of what they're doing. and none of this is conscious of course, i don't think magnus is out there thinking this through deeply or anything, im just saying it's a part of what makes bdsm subconsciously appealing to some ppl. but my point is, rsd might play a part in why magnus is into that mix of praise and humiliation. like i think he needs the praise for reassurance even during play, which alec is more than happy to provide ("you're so beautiful, look at you, so perfect like this, i love you,"), and that kind of play where rejection, praise, and pleasure are all kind of one and the same is appealing because it just makes it all the more overwhelming without actually being negative and your mind is just lost in the almost contradictory stimuli but the pleasure and the positive wins out and you just feel so relaxed and good? yeah
but there's also like, the way that impacts the negative possible outcomes of bdsm. namely, rsd and subdrop
rsd is kind of obvious so i'll try to be brief: it's a sensitive issue and if he's not in the proper headspace for it, it can have the opposite effect and go very wrong very fast, because his reaction to rejection is hyperamplified by it. so if it has the opposite of the desired effect - rejection overpowering praise and pleasure - it might go south so fast he doesnt have the time to yellow. like he can't prevent it before it happens, you know? which is also why i think he wouldn't go Super Deep into humiliation and why the mix with praise is key - which is another way in which they are compatible because alec sure does love praising him
as for subdrop: if you don't know what that is, basically BDSM play is very intense and releases a fuckton of endorphins all at once very fast, so, sometimes, the sub doesn't come down from their orgasm as much as falls facefirst back to earth. meaning, their brain empties itself of endorphins, which leaves them feeling hollow and depressed, sometimes also moody, hypersensitive/prone to crying, fatigued, and just generally bad
which is one of the many reasons aftercare is important! and also proper dom training! with proper aftercare, you can prevent that drop from happening, by keeping the sub feeling positively. reassurance, touch, and other forms to bring physical and/or psychological relief and/or pleasure helps keep their brain from just crashing once the rush of endorphins is over, so it lasts a little longer and they can come down from the high gently. work those neurotransmitters yall! keep them up and running!
so anyway i feel like subdrop is not only a bigger deal for ppl with adhd (because adhd is already a lack of neurotransmitters so fucking up your balance even further is Very Bad), but also more likely to happen if you're not careful, because the "regular" adhd brain already has a lack of neurotransmitters, which keep those endorphins running. so adhd ppl might "run out" of them even easier
NOTE: i'm not affirming that, this is a shot in the dark. i have no data or research to back that up and im nowhere near an expert in neuroscience, i just know the basics. so don't take this part too seriously and definitely don't quote me on it
but anyWAY yeah. my point is, subdrop can be a problem so it’s something that he tries to be prepared for, have some snacks before and after, do proper aftercare, etc. like i said, it’s mostly preventable, although sometimes stuff like this happens even if you do your best. but anyway
and there’s another thing too, which is that one possible sympton of subdrop is feeling rejected and alone. which is super fun when you have rsd! so yeah. subdrop can be very bad for magnus. and like, don’t get me wrong, i’m not saying it happens every time or super frequently or something, but it IS something he has to watch out for possibly more than others haha man thinking about how camille didn’t care about this at ALL. he knows it can be bad, but he’s also learnt how to prevent it for him, and as the healthy bastards that they are, magnus and alec talk about that in length. during alec’s Research™ he comes across that concept and he brings it up with magnus and makes sure that he knows everything there is to know about how and when magnus experiences subdrop and how to deal with that. he also makes magnus promise to let him know if he ever has it, because alec WILL drop everything to go and give him extra care. and it’s sweet
on a better note! BDSM has been shown to be associated with lower levels of rejection sensitivity among practitioners. so that’s nice? like obviously magnus won’t find the cure for his rsd with BDSM or anything, but i like the idea of magnus opening his eyes one day and realizing that hey, ever since alec and i have been doing play more often, i’ve been feeling a little less affected by rejection?
also like, BDSM as a whole helps enhance trust and communication in a relationship (obviously it needs to already be there for the BDSM activities to take place and like please everyone everything i’m saying here is on people who enjoy it. how you perceive these actions is heavily influenced by whether or not you enjoyed them so i’m not saying that BDSM is great for everyone, i’m saying that it’s great for people who are into it. so don’t go thinking BDSM will do your relationship good or something, k? k) for obvious reasons, so that also helps magnus feel more secure you know. so that’s a positive way that these things interact too
and okay, i think that’s all i have? not that this isn’t gigantic but like you know. i don’t know how to end this other than uh i had fun answering that ask! also, again, i’m not a psychologist or a neuroscientist and there is actually pretty little research on the psychological effects of BDSM as most of the discussion seems to be centered on “is kink a disease?” due to stigmatization, so like, please, i’m doing this for fun, alright? i tried to make it as accurate as possible and also i get Into It and dive deep into research sometimes so while this is a somewhat educated guess, don’t take everything i say here as face value
in short, thanks for asking!

I just read your meta on Garcia in "Benedict Arnold," and I must ask your thoughts on Garcia's father and their relationship.
In reference to this post.
I have a line in the Flynn POV counterpart to Revelations (that I will finish eventually) that goes something like “Garcia Flynn loves his mother and hates his father, and as a child that’s the beginning and end of everything.” And that’s…really the place I start from when thinking about Asher Flynn and his relationship with his son. Everyone is entitled to their own headcanons and I know there are plenty of folks who may disagree with me, but I’ve always assumed Asher Flynn was a terrible father and a worse husband. That he was at best neglectful and at worst physically and emotionally abusive. That Garcia grew up with his mother protecting him, seeing her unhappy and trapped in a bad marriage, and he loves her so much that he was willing to risk his own existence by saving his brother’s life in 1x08 (since that easily could have meant Maria never met or formed a relationship with Asher Flynn) because he wanted so badly for her to be happy.
But when it comes to parent-child relationships, it’s not actually the end of the story to say “this wasn’t a good/positive relationship, Flynn hated his father.” Because relationships are complicated, especially within families. As much as I think about the Garcia Flynn who hated his father and the Asher Flynn who was abusive, I also think about Asher teaching his son to shoot, to build things, fix things, and a young Garcia who can’t help wanting his father’s approval, wondering if the reason things are bad is because he’s not doing enough, he’s not good enough, if maybe things would get better if he were a better son. A Garcia who is as uncomfortable with making his father proud as he is with not doing so. Society teaches children to love and respect their parents, but does a terrible job of providing any sort of guidance for how they’re supposed to act or think or feel when it’s the parents who are failing them.
I think Asher Flynn was likely some sort of soldier or spy or both and I think Garcia joined the military at 15 because of nationalism and a belief in a need for independence and a desire to want to be part of something bigger than himself. But at the same time, I also think of a young, idealistic, and angry kid who has sworn to himself that he’ll never be like his father, wanting to take on the same background to prove it. He’s not that man, will never be that man, and see, he’s even a soldier, but he’s not going to let that change him.  He’ll do it all and still be a good man, a good husband, a good father. And I think he spends a lot of time when he’s first with Lorena and then later after they’re married being absolutely terrified that he’s going to fuck it all up (and I’ve included in several different fics my hcs on his fears about being a father in particular). And ultimately, I think he succeeds at doing everything he wants to. Being a good man, husband, father. Not turning into Asher Flynn. He succeeds at that. Until he loses everything. And once that happens, there’s nothing stopping him from giving into all the anger and bitterness and violence that he’s always been capable of.
But still, even as he gives in, he resigns himself to not going back. Because at the very least, he’s not willing to bring that into his home. To risk turning that space into what his was growing up.
Obviously, this is all total conjecture because we know extremely little about Flynn’s pre-series life. But, it’s what I was thinking about last night when I was watching the final scene exchange in 1x10 (”He wants everything his father wants…He’s going to do terrible things.”/”Why? Because his father wants him to? You don’t know that.”) and why it hit me hard in my feelings. Is Flynn just talking about John, or is he also talking about himself? Are we destined to repeat the same behaviors that we grew up seeing or listening to or otherwise learning? Can we escape them? How many choices do we really have?
“You said you couldn’t be a father after what you’ve done, but you can.”
As I said in the other post, no he can’t. As far as he’s concerned, he can’t. In general, yes, but especially if he’s trying not to repeat the mistakes of the past. So…yeah, I have feelings about Flynn and his father, what a surprise.

im gonna preface this by saying that anything im about to say in the following post as evidence for Sherlock’s birthday is immediately overruled by the fact that this is still a tv show and is inhibited by filming schedules. ergo, i dont take anything about the weather as a cue for what date it should or shouldn’t be, especially when i know from keeping up with setlock that it was filmed in the late spring-summer with many scenes being in outdoor spaces much larger than just baker street ergo harder to...idk? pump fake snow into? additionally i’d like to point out all the characters wear basically the same wardrobes throughout the show no matter what time of the year it is, and there aren’t a whole lot of other potential indicators of the weather really so it feels like a moot point
now anyway, putting aside whatever theories any of us have about s4 and treating the timeline as normal, i know for a fact that (present day) TAB takes place in january of 2015, a fact i knew before s4 came out, but which was backed up by Mary’s story in TST citing 2009 as “6 years ago” in flashbacks. in TST many, many things happen, which seem to take place over the course of months. in TLD’s opening, Sherlock and John haven’t seen each other in some time. it’s not unbelievable to me that, in a show which usually advances about a year in it’s timeline each season, that TLD takes place in january 2016, to start off with.
now, on the subject of birthdays, most of the Holmesian...well, lets call it widely accepted fanon, (like sherlock’s first name being William, for example, something mofftiss have already adopted into the show) is based in conjecture made over the last century, not unlike us making headcanons online. much like hcs on here that get shared so much others adopt them, so too is holmesian scholarship in many ways, but with the added boost of these being in published books that get treated like textbooks in a way. most of the dates projected for Holmes and Watson’s birthdays are based on any tangible date in the canon they appear to be hungover, the theories tend to go, the night before they were celebrating a birthday. for Watson, this is complicated and there are a few different dates floating around that on which a general consensus has not been reached. (and there’s the matter for bbc of the..weird watson display at a sherlocked event that gave a date but i wont get into that now, all i can say for our john’s birthday is it has to be some time before june)- as for Holmes, however, the date of January 6th has been used so much over the last century, it’s the date everyone has generally agreed upon.
you may say, well, many scholars also agree he’s not gay so who gives a shit and who says mofftiss do about this specifically? well, his tombstone from TRF says “January 6th”
Tumblr media
please excuse 1. the shitty phone pic, i havent properly scanned my copy of the casebook yet and 2. the fact that the flowers obscure it. there is a better photo with the full date showing but i cannot remember where to find it.
now, however, i don’t take the dates used on the tombstone to mean anything MUCH because the death date is incorrect. it lists 2012, when it happened in 2011, by all accounts on the actual show (following the timeline of the blog, more dates in the casebook, and magnussen’s on screen files)- which is why i believe the full shot of the headstone wasn’t used, imo it was likely created before they really finalized the timeline going into s2, which is understandable. (additionally, again, putting s4 theories aside, john states in TLD he never knew sherlock’s birthday so the dates on the headstone effectively don’t exist in canon) so why include it? it may not be strictly canon, but it does show that at least at one point, in mofftiss’s mind, sherlock’s birthday is january 6th, and that they are aware of and don’t seem to Not agree with that date.
all this being said, the show tries not to deal in exact dates too too much, leaving many things such as sherlock and john’s birthdays and birth years up for interpretation, but for sherlock, january 6th seems to have very minimal competition. so like, sure, go ahead and pick a different date but yknow, if you’re looking for something with some kind of backing up, january 6th is your best bet.
bonus thought, speaking of TLD and sherlock’s birthday, the beheading scene when sherlock rescues irene in asib takes place in very early january 2011, which is why i believe she knows when his birthday is (if this was 100 years ago id publish that in my text as a holmesian scholar and maybe someone on the internet would be using it as a cited source, isnt that neat?)
PS i know the timeline of this show like the back of my hand and can rattle off all the key points about it any time, i was taking the time to gather photographic and textual evidence to back everything up so i could make a more Official and well typed post so everyone could use it as reference, and i still am going to, but unfortunately mental illness especially has not been kind to me in the last year and it’s all been very delayed, sorry.

millennium twins + dgm meta, bc i can
mnNGHGH OKAY...... most of this is pared down from what i use (would use, will use at some point) for red carpet welcome neahfic, and is largely neah-focused. at some point this is also just au conjecture. i don’t make meta or hc, i create aus based on my theories and it becomes au canon.
here goes.
(i don’t venture into the dgm tag so if this has all been said before..... oops. i just wanna post it.)
i refer to the millennium twins and their noahs rather separately? ‘mana’, ‘neah’ are self explanatory. ‘adam’ is the noah memory, while ‘the earl’ is the combined mana+adam or neah+adam.
GENERAL
the earl's main ability (besides like giant magic blasts and smacking people with a sword) is manipulation of the soul, its energy, and the helix of life. the ark was first said to have been used to populate the world with new humans after the great flood.
creation of 'humans' likened to the creation of 'akuma'; both are simple a soul in a flesh body, and once the soul is destroyed, the body is also destroyed.
that the earl, whether of his own volition or bc of katerina, split himself consciously instead of just ‘dying’.
my pet theory is that wanted to stop doing whatever it is he was doing / wanted to try coexisting with humans. he looked very tired and sat next to that tree in that wheatfield okay?
attempted to split into two so that the burden of the memory of 'adam' would not be so bad. i think my notes said ‘share the madness’ but tbh it’s probably more along the lines of ‘have another quasi-earl to spend time with inbetween the other noahs reincarnating’.
split himself unevenly across mana and neah, resulting in a conflict between the two pieces of 'memories' that they each carry.
each of them is considered a ‘separate person’, but as parts of a whole. ‘a separate part of one person’
MANA
more kindhearted of the two of them. more human?
likely adopted more of the earl’s desire to coexist with humans, or whatever his intention was for the split.
unfortunately he also received more of the ‘memories of adam’ than neah did, and is more driven by the earlface ‘adam’ to recombine to carry out their task.
judging by the flashbacks, his feelings on this matter were regret and guilt for doing it.
NEAH
in neahfic at least, the pet theory is that he receives only the ‘hatred’ of noah, the feeling of disgust towards humanity, without much (if any) of the memories that make a noah... a noah.
meaning no intrinsic feeling of brotherhood or family, no cemented loyalty to the earl. he is the earl. or he is part of the earl. he is his own master.
there is no one he loves more than himself, and the other half of him
neah does not consider himself 'one of the noahs’ any more than the earl does. he is half of the one who should lead them, but he is not one of them. he is not ‘the 14th noah’, he is ‘their destruction’
c205 road says "don't stop, keep walking. those are the last words neah left mana. neah fought for mana. but it's a secret, okay?"
which is why he's surprised when 'the earl' says 'mana is gone' because that would essentially give neah no reason left to kill 'adam', to absorb the memory of ‘adam’ and become ‘the earl’
hc that neah intended to do the killing / devouring at first but was unable to for whatever reason
that by killing and and devouring 'mana', neah spares mana of having to do the same to him, hence the 'i'll kill you and become the earl’ -> ‘i’ll do it so that you don't have to do it'
possibly that scene with him standing over road and someone in the bed? it’s possibly mana. looks like it could be katerina but road has no reason to hold her like that?
WIBBLY WOBBLY
with 'the earl's ability to manipulate soul and helix of life, he creates?? another himself?? a split. into whom he puts 'mana' and lets loose on the world.
'the earl' has already been split once into mana and neah, nothing says he can't just do it again, he just has no reason to?
'mana's portion of soul becomes an akuma, while the rest of 'the earl' walks around in a fatsuit. 'the earl' right now is quite possibly just 'adam' and maybe remainders of mana's soulmemory? hence why he has no memory of being twins with neah.
ch225 spoilery bit way down below.
this is not really a headcanon but i’m viscerally relating the 225 line of neah’s ‘i could laugh and spit up the food i ate’ with the fact that he probably has the same abilities as the earl, soul/body devouring
but being that he isn’t ‘completely’ the earl, he doesn’t really destroy them completely when he killed/devoured their souls, only damaged them to the point that they couldn’t remember a thing about him
or they’ve willfully repressed it, since the idea that ‘the other half of the earl killed them dead’ would be a pretty bad memory?
what’s up with joyd and neah oohh.
just the amount of CASUAL DEFIANCE neah has whenever he talks to any of the noahs, even the earl, makes me think oodles of things that i can’t put into words properly. the level of casual, dismissive, blunt familiarity is like a punchline to a joke only he knows
it wouldn’t have been out of place for him to keep quiet the fact that he and mana are actually both the earl, just for the irony of the joke that is the earl (or half of the earl) killing his own apostles
does anyone else ever think about how, since they are the earl, if they ever awakened as noahs, there would’ve been no one to greet them? unless all noahs have intrinsic noah-awakening senses?
the earl is supposed to greet them, or at least he greeted skinn boric.
no one told these two children why they were bleeding from their foreheads or having 7000 years of memories downloaded into their heads (for mana at least? in this theory neah doesn’t get that).
please. i think about this a lot.

@jaynefray replied to your post: @jaynefray replied to your post: @jaynefray replied to your photo:
My thoughts exactly! I mean I was wondering how Jaune is the one I'm supposed to side with and say he told Qrow right when he...does nothing to save Ruby.
It's not exactly going to make people who aren't die-hard stans, who will defend character on principle side with Jaune, because as you said he sounds like a hipocryte. He does nothing but is dick to someone who did something, and as to fight with Winter oh my god I finally met a third person who sees it exactly like I do.
Many people say that Qrow attacked Winter because she is Wnter, but when you listen to what he actually says there is nothing personal in those words. he doesn't talk about her as a individual that did something to him in the past. He says you SPECLAISTS(prular) you are BUNCH OF SELLOUTS(again it's referring to whole group) JUST LIKE YOUR BOSS(about Ironwood)
Old Ironwood turned his back on Ozpin(same) Atlas will keep all of us safe. Apart from the part about her ship he only talks about Ironwood and military. His issue is with Ironwood taking over security and foregin army staying in Vale. That's his issue, it has little to do with Winter except she is a specialist. He singled her out because she is part of military, high ranked officer and close to Ironwood. this whole display was to make military look bad and Ironwood look bad as new security.
Qrow and Winter do know each other but I don't think they know each other well and I think it's first time they fight each other too. Because many times they seem to be surprised by what the other one does, and Winter doesn't seem to know he has a drinking problem. if they had history of some sorts and knew each other very well she wouldn't be saying 'he was drunk' because she would know he is drunk most of the time. Qrow isn't exactly hiding with that flask.
And as to 'who invited her' I think it's just because Winter is military and with Ironwood and Qrow seems to think Ironwood doesn't belong in their secret group either. he said 'youre here because ozpin wanted you here' so he doesn't really like James being there, so ofc he wouldn't want Winter ANOTHER MILITARY PERSON WHO IS DEPENDANT ON IROWNWOOD BECAUSE HE IS HER BOSS THERE. Winter's loyalty lies with Ironwood and Ironwood turned on Ozpin and her being in Brotherhood would mean that Ironwood would have a supporter in his decisions this is pretty political thing. It's another memner of opposition in your group, oppostion you don't trust or like. It's really nothing personal.
but back to bad luck charm again. If writers were a bit better and I trusted Mi/iles this could actually be a good thing...like hear me out. Qrow says that his tribe told him they named him because crows bring bad luck, so he's been told 'bad luck charm' thing most of his childhood. This could be a good opportunity for ND representation, and explain it wit PTSD or anxiety.
Anxiety does make you think this way. It does make you think things are your fault even if they're not. it makes you doubt if you did something or not, or when a tacher or boss or someone from work wants to talk to you, you catch yourself thinking 'omg what if I unintentionally did something wrong' even tho there is little evidance of something going wrong or you doing something wrong.
This would be really great if this was written that way. as "he has anxiety so he gets into thinking like this' this could also explain why he trained Ruby, worked for Ozpin ect. because anxiety like any other illness or disorder has 'good days' there are days you won't feel that bad or get caught in some sort of magical thinking and things like this. but I don't think if I'd trust M/iles and K/erry to write a mentally ill character well. still this is my HC and explonation for this thing
Qrow’s also expressed serious contempt for the Schnees. By attacking and humiliating Winter, he’s not only slandering the Atlas military, he’s also making a member of the Schnee Family look like an unrestrained, undisciplined, and rash fool.
I would’ve liked to see a moment where Jacques, Winter, and Weiss are dealing with or mentioning the PR blowback with Winter’s confrontation with Qrow. Can you imagine the headlines from the tabloids?
“Atlas Specialist Winter Schnee Assaults Huntsman Veteran in Beacon Courtyard”
Of course, that’s an entirely different matter with its own implications that warrants its own post to discuss. I’ll get on that when I’m not drowning in exams and overdue assignments, lmao.
However, simply because there’s a lot of unknowns about Qrow and Winter’s relationship, one could make the conjecture that he provoked her with a more personal prerogative and simply used her status (and name) as an excuse to pick a fight.
That argument doesn’t really go anywhere without support from canon, though. So that’s as far as I’ll go to entertain that idea.
As for Winter and Qrow’s alcoholism, I do think she knew. It’s not something you miss when Qrow can’t go five minutes without taking a sip. The way I saw it, Winter was calling out Qrow on his behavior. She’s saying, “He was being idiotic and irresponsible on purpose by drinking and picking a fight.”
What worries me, though, is Glynda’s reaction. She attempts to excuse Qrow’s actions by saying, “He’s always drunk!” essentially implying: “What do you expect from an alcoholic, it’s not his fault when you were the one who reacted, so just let him be.” The way she’s suggesting Qrow is entitled to being a prick because he has a drinking problem is concerning to me, lmao.
As for the rest, I totally agree with what you’re saying. It’s perfectly possible that we’ll explore Yang and Qrow’s mental illness in subsequent volumes, but the way they handled Yang after 4x04 makes me seriously skeptical.
I’m sorry if there’s not much substance in this reply, but I did wanna get back to you because it’s always a joy to talk about RWBY with you. Besides, it’s fairly late over here and I have an exam early in the morning.
