The knock on your front door was gentle; almost as though the person on the other side of it was at odds on whether they should bother you or not. You sigh, figuring it was probably Aiden coming to apologize for the confrontation he had caused with Rick and his group earlier.
You sat the book you were reading down on your coffee table, getting up from the couch as you shuffled to the door. You freeze, not even needing to open it, the glass revealing that it wasn’t Aiden, but in fact Daryl. You pull your bottom lip between your teeth, feeling your heart pound against your chest. You close your eyes, letting out a heavy exhale.
You continue towards your door, opening it. The cool, crisp night air tickled your exposed skin. “It’s late, what’re you doing here?” you question. “Came to talk.” he replies simply in his gruff voice. You pause for a moment, contemplating on whether or not you should let him in. You really weren’t in the right headspace to talk, but at the same time you didn’t want to just turn him away. “Come in.” You pull the door open wider for the brunette to step inside before shutting it close.
“So…” you cross your arms, staring up at him. “What did you come to talk about?” Daryl’s picking at his fingernails; a coping mechanism that you always remembered him doing when he struggled to find the right words. Even after all these years he still had a hard time expressing himself. “Look, m’sorry ‘bout what went down with Aiden today.”
You sigh, shrugging your shoulders. You knew he really didn’t mean it. Anything Daryl did he did it with pride, standing on whatever decision he made. “Aiden can be an asshole sometimes, I know. But you and your group need to understand that things like that don’t happen in Alexandria. If you guys continue to disrupt the peace I don’t know what Deanna will do.” You inform him honestly. The people in Alexandria had lived in tranquility for so long, they weren’t used to sudden anarchy. Most of them hadn’t even dealt with walkers.
Daryl nods in response, still picking at his nails. An awkward silence had fallen between you two, neither knowing what to say next. It was crazy to think there could ever come a time where you didn’t find comfort in his silence. Daryl was never the most talkative person, you knew this. But regardless, back then it didn’t bother you. You just enjoyed being around him. He was home.
Used to be at least.
It was time to face the reality that you weren’t the same girl you were before the world ended. In fact, you stopped being that girl the moment you escaped your stepmother’s tyranny. You were happy to know Daryl survived so long in this fucked up dystopia, but all his presence has done since his group got to Alexandria was bring back memories you wanted to erase, and cause a rift between you and Aiden.
“He treat you good?” Daryl finally filled the silence. You knew he was talking about Aiden. “He does.” You nod, which Daryl does too. “You love him?” The question catches you off guard, and you’re not sure how to answer because the truth was, you weren’t sure if you loved Aiden. You knew you cared about him though. “Doesn’t matter.”
“To me it does.”
“Well, it shouldn’t. My love life, and life isn’t your concern anymore.” You snap, agitatedly. “You should just go before Aiden comes by. You can let yourself out.” You walk past him, heading back to your couch, mentally cursing yourself for not pretending to be asleep instead of answering the door.
Daryl could feel the disconnection between you and him; he couldn’t understand why, but it was truly starting to frustrate him how you had been writing him off lately. Like he wasn’t an important part of your life once. “Man, what happened to you? Ever since I got here you been distant, and actin’ like you barely know me. I don’t understand why.”
You shake your head. “You don’t need to understand. We’re not having this conversation right now. Just go.” You speak sternly, pointing to the door. Daryl scoffs. “Ain’t goin’ nowhere ‘til you tell me why,” he wasn’t letting up, and you could feel your nerves taking over the more he prodded. “All these years, all that searchin’ just for you to act like it meant nothing. Hell was it for?”
“I’m not doing this.” You turn once more to walk away, but his strong grip on your wrist prevents it, and you’re spun back around to face him.
“Tell me why!”
You snatch your wrist away. “Because you’re a constant reminder, and I hate it, okay?!” You spat. “I fucking hate it! It didn’t mean anything. You didn’t mean anything. We were trauma bonded. We shared the same scars, that’s it. Once I found my courage to run, I threw away the crutches that held me back. I buried my past and everything that came with it.” Hearing your own words fly out of your mouth breaks your heart in two.
Daryl stares at you. His eyes are a bit watery, but he doesn’t shed a tear. He fights it, the way he always has. “S’all I was, huh? A crutch that held you back?” You swallow the lump at the back of your throat, not responding out of fear of breaking down. He nods his head. “I get it.” Is all he says before he’s finally about to exit your home.
The brunette only opens the door halfway before halting. “Y’know… after you left, I regretted not going with you like you wanted me to. I regretted it everyday.” He finally leaves with those being his last words, slamming the door behind him.
You flinch at the slam, eyes squeezing shut. Your bottom lip quivered and chest tightened in pain. You wanted to run after him, but you couldn’t bring yourself to. Tears fall now that you were left alone in your own space. Your hand flies over your mouth to muffle the uncontrollable sobs that were starting to slip through.

okay but.. a quiet gamer boy bf kaneki that loves when his pretty girl bottoms herself out as he’s in the middle of a game. <3
you love kaneki, & you can accept that he has a love & passion for video games too but.. how does he expect you NOT to wanna sit on him when he looks so damn handsome all the time?!
he’s sat in that gaming chair with a baggy tee & a pair of grey sweats. he’ll even be wearing a pair of blue light glasses so that the constant gaming doesn’t do too much damage to his irises. nd he just looks so good with this combination!! ugh. it’s not even fair.
on this particular day, he’s playing fortnite with touka & hide after not touching that game for a couple of seasons. he’s giving call outs, talkin’ bout’ “116 to the body” “he’s 1 shot” “knocked.. dead.” “pushing up behind us” & just a whole bunch of shit that you didn’t care to try & understand..
you’re a little frustrated, to be honest. you had a long day at work nd you just wanna be all up under him. especially now that he’s on the game with some girl he used to have a fling with..?
“ken..”
“kennnn..!”
upon hearing that, he moves his headset behind his ear with a push of his shoulder & gives you a soft hum.
“when’re you getting off?”
“oh.. i don’t know, baby. probably not for another hour or so”
“another hour or so..??”
“yeah. what’s wrong?”
you don’t even bother answering. he shrugs his headset back on & continues to clack away at his keyboard. you’ve already made your way over to him, nd you watch him play for a little before you lift his arm & saddle yourself on to his lap. you’re thankful that he isn’t streaming today.
you begin to peck sloppy little kisses on to his neck, not really caring if it’s loud or not.. you’re kinda hoping it is, though :3. kaneki lifts his head a bit to give you more access. his pale skin is still displaying the hickies you had left just a couple nights ago nd you giggle a little bit at this. they look soso pretty on him!
a couple seconds pass by & you’re just slyly rolling your hips down on him. he knows exactly what you want out of him & he’s not gonna deny you from it. you slide yourself off his lap, now on your knees in between his legs & you take hold of the hem of his briefs & sweats before pulling them down to his lower thighs. it’s no surprise that ken is already hard.
you can’t blame him! he’s got a hot gf damn near humping him in his chair, what man wouldn’t be turned on?! i digress.
you take him in your hand & lick all the way from the base to the tip, you can feel him tense up & relax afterwards. you spit in your hand to act as lube nd stroke his dick a couple times before fully sticking him in your mouth. you’re left jerking whatever else doesn’t fit & you hear his breathing get heavier.
there’s a lewd gluck gluck (i’m so sorry 😭) coming from you as things get sloppier by the second. kaneki was now fully hitting the back of your throat, not really caring if it was difficult for you to handle or not..
touka & hide are noticing him paying less attention & his gameplay getting a bit more careless. i mean right now his character was on auto-run, & he had your hair in a makeshift ponytail as he fucked your poor throat! :(
“kaneki! they’re on the mountain building up.. there’s 20 left. focus up”
“fuck bro. i’m down.. he’s at least 5 bullets tho- push that”
“kaneki… push, maybe?? you’re selling”
“can you both get the fuck out my ear?”
ken let’s go of your hair nd tucks it behind your ears before giving his full attention to the game once again. you don’t know what he’s doing up there but he’s going crazy on his keyboard.
you pull him from your mouth with a lil “pop” sound nd climb back into his lap. your panties are now pulled to the side & you’re fully sitting on his dick.. this man leaves you so full OMGG. there’s an adorable bulge in your tummy >.<!
kaneki brings his attention to you for a brief moment to give you a quick couple of pecks, nd then he’s back to the game. you wrap your arms around his neck & use them as leverage to lift yourself up & down on his lap. the chair is making a bit of noise nd ken’s friends are now overly suspicious..
“the fuck is going on over there?”
“mind your business.”
touka rolls her eyes at his response to hide. she’s already knowing what’s going on nd she’s not too happy about it. you did kinda steal kaneki’s attention from her when they were talking. boohoo, so sad. you were just better!
you were getting a lil tired from bouncing up & down, so you began rolling your hips. ken doesn’t feel much pleasure from this but he knows how good it feels for you, he’s happy to let you use him.
“we have circle. camp this hill nd stay on high ground”
kaneki mutes his mic before he wraps his arms around you & snaps his hips up into you.
“ken- oh my god!”
“couldn’t wait till’ i got off, hm?”
you didn’t answer so his hips came to a full halt & you whined, like a puppy. “i asked you a question, sweetheart”
“look at me”
you met his eyes nd he just smiled, “you’re so pretty, holy fuck” nd he started fucking you again, no warning!
“kaneki, they’re pushing”
at this point he didn’t even care anymore. he grabbed you by your waist, then carefully lifting you off his lap. ken stands up, turns you around & bends you over just to slip himself back into your pretty cunny. he’s ruthless with the strokes too.
went from sucking to clapping sounds & his mic ain’t off no more. “can feel you in my stomach, ken”
“yeah? tell me how it feels, baby.”
“feels too good.. shit! i can’t-”
“you can, y/n. let’s finish what you started.” ken lifts your leg so that it’s resting on his desk, “ts’ too much!” you somehow felt him even deeper & it made your eyes roll back. kaneki was dying in the game, both friends collectively screaming at him over the mic.
“you can take it, i taught you better than that.” you’re babbling other things he doesn’t really care to comprehend. your hand reaches behind your back to push his hips away but he only grabs your wrist & yanks it back so there’s a bigger arch in your back :( he tells you to ‘stop trying to run’.
ken eventually bends forward a bit to rub your clit, it all feels so good. he’s balls deep inside you nd stimulating you just right. he’s way too good at what he does. you feel a knot in your stomach & you start clenching around him, “fuck y/n”
“ken, i’m gonna-”
“not yet, angel. wait for me, please?”
you love the way he talks to you.
you’re nodding nd he picks you up to carry you over to the edge of the bed, he sits down nd encourages you to ride him all over again.
“cmon, ‘wanna record my pretty girl” he says as he picks his phone up off the bed.
“are you gonna send it to touka..?” there’s a smile on your face & he kisses you, “course i will, she’ll never get to be in your place. you’re so perfect.. this pussy was made just for me”
kaneki stretches his arm out nd records the scene in front of him, the camera angle perfectly displays all of what’s going on; he smacks your ass just to show off too. it leaves you even more needy, “can’t keep holding it, kennie, please”
“keep going honey, i’m almost there.”
you propped your feet on the bed- in a squat, bouncing even harder. “what a fucken slut..!” ken let’s out a light laugh, he’s almost in disbelief. now he’s rubbing circles on your clit again nd you’re practically sobbing from the pleasure. “fuck- go ahead baby, i’m cumming”
you let yourself come undone; there’s heavy breathing for a couple of seconds after, you’re both just trying to calm your heart rates once again.
“i love you so much kaneki, never gonna leave, i swear”
“i love you too, pretty girl. get up & show me what we did, yeah?”
“mhm!” you slowly lift yourself off of his lap & sit next to him. your legs are spread & both your juices are flowing out of your cunt.. kaneki slips two fingers into you & you almost close your legs on his arm, “i’m sensitive!!”
“i know honey, i know..” he’s laughing now, “cmere, i wanna kiss you. say bye to touka”
“bye bye touka!” you cheese real hard & the video ends.
“gonna run us a bath okay, my angel? i’ll come get you when it’s done!” kaneki had slid his pants back on so he could make his way to the bathroom.
after turning on the water, he sends the video to touka with a little message: “my y/n wanted you to see this :)”
sosososososo feral for this man. :(((((
(this was extremely rushed + first time kinda writing something like this in full! bare with me as i try & get better <3)

A Potions Mishap
Pairing: Seonghwa x f!Y/N
Tropes: Hogwarts au, Slytherin!Hwa, Ravenclaw!reader, hurt/comfort, fluff, mutual pining
T/W: injury with a knife, feeling dizzy/sick, f word
Words: ~4k
my masterlist
You normally enjoy Potions class, you really do. But, today, the thought of spending the whole afternoon in the dungeons was filling you with a sense of tediousness and dread. Not only was it a perfect summer day- one that you couldn’t even enjoy because of double potions, but it was also exam season- so, even if you hadn’t had class blocking up the whole day, then studying for your N.E.W.T.’s was enough to ruin anyone’s mood. Add a granola bar for every meal for the past two weeks and barely four hours of sleep from the night before, and the equation spelled a truly annoying and exhausting end to your school day.
Noticing the sour look on your face, your friend and fellow Ravenclaw housemate, Hongjoong waved his fork in front of your face. “Earth to Y/N.”
You wrinkled your nose at him. “Whaaaaat?”
“Have you seen the time? We have class in 5 minutes, and – did you seriously not eat anything, again?”
You blinked down at your where your plate should be. Instead, you saw your Potions text, riddled with notes in the margins and covered in pink highlights. To the side sat your plate of food, untouched.
“Ah, shit.”
 Hongjoong began to open his mouth to lecture you before you cut him off, “Just save it- as if you haven’t forgotten to eat because you also got caught up in some project at the table!”
He quickly closed his mouth and gave you a stern smile instead. “At least I don’t do it every day. From tomorrow onwards, if you don’t eat, I will force feed you, I swear.”
You stuck your tongue out at him and finally pulled your sandwich towards you. Still, you only managed a few bites before it was time to go.
You sighed as you walked down the stairs. You were really not looking forward to – before you could even finish the thought, you were attacked from behind. Gasping, you almost lost your balance down the last step, but the perpetrators steadied you. You shot a look of annoyance over both your shoulders at the two banes of your existence.
“Aw, noona. What’s got you sighing like that?” San asked.
“Or should we ask- whoooo?” Wooyoung wagged his eyebrows at you.
You huffed as you pushed them both off. “As if. Try to kill me again, and I’ll hex you so bad you won’t be able to sit your exams, I mean it.”
“Oh, noona. Please hex me. PLEASE. I really don’t wannaa take these fucking N.E.W.T.s.” Mingi added.
You pushed ahead of the three Gryffindor idiots, hiding your smile. “Why do I even bother?”
A low chuckle reached your ears. “I ask myself the same question every day, Y/N.”
Your heart skipped a beat, but you managed to keep your features cool as you turned your head up to Seonghwa who was holding the door to the classroom open for you and the guys. You managed to say hello and thank him before the blush could really bloom on your cheeks and across your nose.
Hongjoong wagged his eyebrows at the look on your face as he took his usual spot next to you at the worktable. He was the only one who knew of your crush on the Slytherin.
It had all started in 6th year. Up until then, Potions had always been taught to you with the Hufflepuffs. As such, you, and Hongjoong for that matter, had never had this class with the Gryffindors or the Slytherins. However, at the N.E.W.T. level, there were barely enough students to fill a single classroom. This is when you first came across Seonghwa in a classroom setting. Even though you were friends with his “band of pirates” as they liked to call themselves, you had never seen or interacted with Seonghwa outside of the group. Here in class, San and Wooyoung were paired up at a workstation, as they had been their whole Hogwarts career, and the same was true for you and Hongjoong. Though Mingi and Seonghwa were from Gyrffindor and Slytherin, respectively, they had never been partners before 6th year. Even though they had always been friends, House always came first. Even you had always paired with Hongjoong, even though you were both close with Yunho who was a Hufflepuff who you had shared Potions with for 5 years.
“I’m telling you, Y/N. We gotta glamour your face or something, you’re as red as a tomato.”
You looked at Joong in horror as your hands came up to cover your cheeks. “Is it really?”
It was at that moment that Seonghwa reached his table and took his seat in front of you two. “Everything alright?” He looked between the two of you.
“Yes, of course!” You laughed awkwardly as you hit Hongjoong on the arm. It sounded a bit too high even to your ears.
Seonghwa’s smile was stiff on his face as he nodded and took his seat, just as your professor started the class.
“Alright class. New orders from above. Today, we are going to be striving towards inter-house unity!”
As the class gave each other unsure looks, the false cheery smile slipped off Professor Nott’s face. “I know it’s annoying guys, but please find a partner from a House that is not yours. And before any of you try to be sneaky- yes, I’m looking at you Mingi- if you already have a partner from a different house, then find a new one! We’re going to be working on the Shrinking Solution today, and you all know that needs two hands for the chopping and stirring that needs to happen at the same time.” The class groaned. “Do not kill me; it was not my idea,” he held up his hands. “Why the Headmaster decides at the very last minute of your academic career to shake things up; I’ll never understand,” he muttered under his breath, not quite successfully.
You stood from your spot with your bookbag, unsure of where to turn. But, before you could even take a breath, Mingi came around your corner of the table, jostling you, and wrapped his arms around Hongjoong. “Dibs!” The Ravenclaw was quick to shrug out of it and yell and start wagging a finger at him, but Mingi just stuck his tongue out at San and Wooyoung across the aisle who were throwing their arms up in the air and giving him the finger.
In the chaos, Y/N didn’t see Seongwa scowl at Mingi as she steadied her balance yet again.
You chuckled and started to make you way over to the Gryffindors you were most comfortable with, before San and Wooyoung quickly and efficiently swapped partners with the Slytherin boys that always sat in front of them, Changbin and Leeknow.
You frowned and quickly let your eyes dart around the whole classroom. Everyone was paired up, except for Seonghwa. He sat calmly at his spot, twirling a quill between his long fingers, almost as if he was waiting for you.
He sensed your gaze and looked up at your from under his long lashes.
“Wanna be my mine?”
Even though you were quick to surmise the true meaning of his not-so-innocuous question, you couldn’t help your eyes from widening as your heart heard a different meaning.
“S-sure, I’ll be your partner.” You took Mingi’s vacated seat quickly and avoided his gaze.
As the class settled, Professor Nott started his brief lecture on the potion. Your knee bounced under the table. You were so aware of every line of Seonghwa’s body, just inches from yours. Did you and Hongjoong sit this close, also? You had truly never noticed. The space between you and the Slytherin felt so heavy with static. Were you moving too much? You stopped shaking your leg, but that lasted two seconds, before your fingers started drumming against the desk.
Seonghwa suddenly leaned forward from his slouched position to place his forearms on the table next to where yours were. His fingers covered the movement of yours.
Your breath caught in your throat, but you kept your eyes on the board, as you felt him lean his head towards yours.
“If you’re so nervous about this potion, Y/N, don’t worry, I’m the top of this class. I’ve got you.” His whisper was a tickle against your ear.
Was it just you being delusional or did all his words have double meanings? You smirked back even as your heat raced in your chest at both his proximity and his teasing words.
You met his eyes briefly to retort back. “Actually, you’ll find that your tied for that position, with me. So, maybe it is I that will be carrying you.”
He smiled back, and your eyes caught in a moment that lasted what seemed like forever, before it was broken by the sound of scraping chairs.
You both blinked before also standing to start your potion. Pink dusted both student’s cheeks, unbeknownst to the other.
“Oh also, class! I know you know this but be careful when you’re chopping the cowbane. Even the juice on your knife is very poisonous blah blah, get to it!” You smiled at Professor T’s cavalier attitude, even though you knew he cared very deeply for his students and educating every generation of students he could be available to.
You and Seonghwa quickly settled into an efficient routine. It was almost like you could read each other’s minds; without even speaking, you both divvied up the tasks in a way that made sense to you. He had already chopped the shrivelfigs and added their juice to the cauldron, while you intuitively prepared the next steps by mincing the daisy root and preparing the hairy caterpillars as he heated the cauldron gently.
You were surprised, as you had never had such chemistry with another Potions partner before. You always had a hard time doing group projects, because you thought you could just do better on your own and were often irritated at having to go at someone else’s slower pace. You and Hongjoong had always worked well together, with the minor bumps caused by his temper tantrums and your passive aggressiveness, but you had thought that he was the best a partner could ever be. As you watched Seonghwa vigorously stir the potion, a step you always hated because your arm always got tired, you realized you couldn’t have been more wrong. You both naturally gravitated towards the different aspects of the potion that you favored and preferred. It was honestly euphoric to be working together like this, and the academic in you was singing with joy.
You were working on juicing the leeches when the heat of the room started getting to you. The many fires under the cauldrons made it so that the dungeons were sweltering. Somewhere in the room, Wooyoung started screaming that he had accidentally added rose petals instead of daisy root, and the whole class groaned because any first year knows that combining rose to blood from anything made for the most disgusting smell. The fumes started to make you dizzy, and you were suddenly regretting only eating two bites of a sandwich.
Seonghwa paused in his shaking of the rat spleen you had just handed over, barely a tremble to your hand. “Are you okay, Y/N?”
You blinked at him, surprised. “Yes..?”
His eyes looked into yours deeply. You were not used to someone noticing when things were barely off with you. This little bit of dizziness was nothing.
“If you’re sure.” He didn’t look too convinced as he turned to stir the cauldron clockwise.
As you started working on the cowbane, these thoughts took another turn. Not only was he the best partner you had ever had, but he was also so caring and asked after your wellbeing! Your crush reared its big head before you could stifle it down.
You were carefully slicing the second piece of cowbane to render more liquid- the first had not yielded enough for the potion. All of a sudden, the dizziness came back in full force and your vision swam before your eyes. The knife missed its mark and instead imbedded in your thumb. You blinked and swayed.
“Y/N!”
A hand wrapped around your left wrist, while another took the knife out of your right hand.
“Sorry, Seonghwa.” You had ruined the potion. He had stopped stirring because of you.
Along with the dizziness came a new feeling. Your body felt so floaty. Everything was too bright and too loud.
A voice swam in from far away.
“I think the knife had some juice on it, Professor, and she cut herself pretty deep. I’ve been holding pressure, but…”
“No, you did the exact right thing, Seonghwa. Don’t worry; she’ll be okay. We just need to get her to Madame Patil in the hospital wing, and the antivenom will fix her right up.”
There was the sound of a bomb exploding.
“I’ll go take care of San’s potion- he clearly added the rat spleen incorrectly, seeing as it misfired. Are you ok to take Y/N up by yourself?”
“Yes, sir.”
Then, an arm wrapped around your waist to pull you up from your chair. His other arm took yours over his shoulder as he began to take you out of the classroom.
“Seonghwaaa.”
“Y/n, just hang on, ok? We’re going to the Hospital Wing.” He looked down at you.
“You’re too tall.”
He looked down at you, confused, but did not stop his hurried rush across the corridor to the stairs. “Excuse me?”
“My arm hurts at this angle.” Why were words coming out so readily right now? Was it the cowbane?
He brought you both to a standstill. “Um, yea, it’s one of the effects of cowbane poisoning. Sorry, I didn’t realize it was uncomfortable.” You could barely feel alarm that there was no filter between your brain and your mouth through the haziness that was descending over your whole body.
He looked unsurely up the stairs and back at you twice before his face set in determination.
“Ok, Y/N, I’m going to have to carry you.”
“No!” You stepped back shakily. You were definitely too heavy. This was going to be so embarrassing. But, also, it would feel so good probably. To be in his strong Chaser arms. Oh my god. Wait, he could hear everything. This is so embarrassing.
He smiled privately to himself before pulling you closer. “I hate to do this without your consent, but technically, you are not sound of mind and actively have a poison in your system, and Professor told me to get you there as fast as possible, so-”
And with that, he swung you up in your arms, like you weighed nothing and started off up the stairs.
The sudden change of position set your stomach rolling and the dizziness came back with doubled force. You whimpered and burrowed your head further into his neck, forgetting to fight him for manhandling you.
“I don’t feel so good.”
Seonghwa glanced worriedly down at your face which was turning an unhealthy-looking shade of green. “We’re almost there, love. Just hang on. I’m getting you there.”
You whimpered and tried to focus on breathing in and out slowly. Still, even though you were feeling so sick, the comfort and exhilaration of being so close to Seonghwa was not lost on you. If you threw up on Seonghwa right now, you were gonna kill yourself.
“Please don’t. I’d miss you too much.”
“Ugh, please stop reading my mind,” you managed to say between clenched teeth.
He chuckled quietly before depositing you softly onto a bed. Oh, a bed? Was it his bed? What was he going to do? What did you want him to do? Before your brain could come up with incriminating ideas to answer that question, a soft voice interrupted you.
“Oh, thank Salazar she’s conscious.”
“Um, Ms. Y/N, you are in the Hospital Wing.” There was a laughing lilt to her voice before it turned serious. “Mr. Seonghwa told me of the situation that happened in the Potions class, and I have just administered the antidote. It takes effect in 15 minutes, so just try hang on a little bit longer as it clears out the poison in your system. I also administered an anti-emetic, so just breathe in and out so you don’t throw up the antidote, or we’ll have to start all over and you will just feel worse as the cowbane spreads further. Just these 15 minutes, Y/N, and after that you should start to feel better within the hour. I’ll go whip up a hydration potion, also, because your basic diagnostic charm did not look good, young lady.”
You finally blinked open your eyes to see the high ceiling above you. Madame Patil was not wrong in taking extra measures to make sure you didn’t throw up. You felt like a ragdoll thrown at sea. The nausea was overwhelming, and the panic that it was causing wasn’t helping either. Before you could start hyperventilating in full, a hand grabbed yours.
You turned your head to where Seonghwa sat in the chair next to your bed.
“Sh, just focus on me.” He inhaled exaggeratedly and raised his eyebrows at you to follow.
You clamped down your jaw harder and mimicked him. It helped a fraction. Then, the next breath came easier. As did the next.
You don’t know how much time passed, but looking at him helped you hold on and focus even when your whole body was thrown in turmoil. Staring into his eyes and seeing him stare back just as hard at your own anchored you and healed you in more than one way.
You didn’t even realize 15 minutes had passed and that the nausea had stopped until Healer Patil bustled back into the room, a pale pink potion in her hands.
“You did so well, Y/N,” she soothed quietly. At the nurturing tone and the knowledge that you could finally relax a little now, your eyes welled up.
“There, there- none of that. The worst has passed. Now, drink this.”
You wrinkled your nose and glanced at Seonghwa in dread. Rehydrating potions tasted so bad. When will the horrors end?
He shook his head at you sternly. “Hurry up, Y/N.”
“Ugh.” You downed the whole glass, and Healer Patil leaned you back softly onto the headboard.
“All done. Now, you just rest. I’m writing you a pass for classes tomorrow as well.”
“Oh, but-”
She looked down at you sternly. “No buts. I know it’s exam season, Y/N, but if you want to write those exams to the best of your ability, then you need to take care of your body as well as your mind. That means eating well, sleeping enough, and resting when you need to. Your body has just undergone a major ordeal even if it was healed so quickly, so give it the time it needs to recuperate.”
“Okay, okay. I promise I’m not that bad at taking care of myself!”
“Do you think my diagnostics lied to me? You haven’t eaten well in the past week and a half from the looks of it and are severely dehydrated! The poison wouldn’t have worked so fast if you weren’t already so compromised!”
At that, you had nothing to say. The older Ravenclaw nodded and sniffed as she walked away.
That left you alone with Seonghwa. As the haziness of your mind started to clear, the events of the past hour came back to you.
You snuck a glance at him. He looked the most worried you had ever seen him. Even more than when Yeosang had been upset- this sent any of the pirates into a spiral. More than when Jongho had to take a break from Quidditch because of a knee injury. More than any occasion before.
You looked back down at your hands. It was surprising to see the cut that had started this whole fiasco. Though it wasn’t that deep of a gash, it was pretty long, almost the whole length of your thumb. You winced as you prodded at it.
“Oh, here. Let me heal that for you.”
You looked up, surprised. “Oh, that’s okay. It’s not necessary.”
“Yes, it is.” He frowned at you. You were scared at his expression. He had never looked at you like that before. Just what exactly had you said in your state of delirium? What if he hated you now?
Before you could suggest that Healer Patil could do it, he took your hand gently in his and pulled it towards him. He softly muttered the incantation as he waved his wand over the cut, and the cooling rush of his magic tingled all the way up your arm. It was so intimate.
The heady feeling of happiness rushing through your chest at the feel of his magic coming up against yours halted in its tracks. What if he hated you now? His whole demeanor was so off. You had to clear the air.
“Listen, Seonghwa. I just wanted to say thank you. Thank you for noticing what happened immediately and getting me here so quickly and helping me… And, also, I wanted to say I’m sorry.” You were glaring at where your hands were twisting the sheets, so you missed his look of surprise. “I feel bad that you had to take care of me and that I took time out of your learning time, especially when we know that the Shrinking Solution is probably gonna be tested on the N.E.W.T.s, and I – I , whatever I said, I’m sorry. If you could just tell me what I said that offended you, I promise I probably didn’t mean it. Or if I did, then I can just explain-”
“Whoa, whoa, whoa.” His hands covered both of your own.
You looked up at him, your lip between your teeth.
“Who said I’m mad? I’m not. I promise.”
“But you- you looked so serious just now.”
“Well, yea! Of course, I am.” He ran his hands through his hair agitatedly. “But not because I’m mad that I had to take care of you or leave class because of you or any dumb reason you just came up with right now.” He smiled at you.
You laughed weakly. “O-oh.”
He looked up at the ceiling and muttered under his breath, “Fuck it.”
His hand came up to wrap around your own again. “Y/N, I was worried. Just now. That’s why I looked so serious. And who wouldn’t be when you hear that the girl you’re in love with pushes herself so hard that she is physically unwell? That a Healer who was trained for years had to spell that out so clearly for you?”
Where the poison couldn’t finish the job, his words just had- your heart was stopped. But that was surely impossible, because you could feel the telltale burn of blood across your cheeks. Could a girl still blush if her heart was stopped? You dropped your gaze to your hands again.
He chuckled quietly at the look on your face and leaned impossibly closer still.
“But, you don’t have to worry. I won’t look so serious again, because I figured out a solution to my problem.”
“What’s that?” Why was your voice so shaky?
“Since you won’t do it yourself, I’m just going to have to take care of you.”
You looked at his eyes, his impossibly soft brown eyes. And you saw reflected in them for the first time the same feelings you had harbored for him in your own the past two years.
You teared up at the sudden revelation, the tenderness with which he spoke, and the utterly gentle care you had received from him. And you just knew- this was it. This was it for the rest of your life. He smiled back at you just as brightly as you both were quiet in the reverence of such a moment shared between two souls.
The sudden bang of a door could be heard, not from the entry to the wing but from the Healer’s private office. It signaled that she had stepped out. Seonghwa tilted his head and then smirked mischievously at you before quickly climbing into the bed with you.
“Hey!” You laughed as you poked him in the side.
“Don’t act like this isn’t sooo comfortable for your poor healing-from-a-poison body right now.”
“Mm, I can’t deny that.” Now that you were not nauseous or dizzy or delirious anymore, your body felt like it had been hit by a truck. You sighed against his chest and his arms squeezed around you tighter, only this time you could properly enjoy it.
The silence was peaceful.
“Now, I know I’m in your bed, Y/N, but please try to keep your thoughts a little innocent for now. You’re sick, you know. When you feel better, we can revisit all those things you wanted me to do to you in a bed, ok?”
“Shut up!”

Pairing: Jenna Ortega X Fem!Reader
———
May went by quickly. Jenna wanted to spend it alone with her family after being away from home for so long and of course you let her, knowing how much she cared about them, but you still obviously talked every night and every moment you could, without bothering her. She was getting called on interviews, the trailer for Wednesday season 1 will be released in August and there were already quite a few sneak peeks. As June came the two of you started hanging out more, whether it was at her place or around town: she knew that this show would make her quite a lot famous so she decided to take adventure of this remaining time to be herself and go around town without too many people recognizing her. She always wore sunglasses as to get recognized less, but you didn't mind as long as you were with her.
"Where are we going?" She asked you, as you drove slightly out of town. “You'll see when we get there" you teased only to watch her groan in annoyance. You reached some small forest with a trail, and you parked the car. “What, you're gonna take me here and kill me?" She giggled and you did too "well you're Wednesday here so it should be the other way around" you teased "I'm gonna need to cover your eyes. You trust me right?" She nodded and so did you, you covered her eyes and led her through the woods to the final destination."You're so gonna like this" you said as you gave her a peck on the cheek. You had brought her on top of a hill, the trees behind you and from there you could see the whole Los Angeles. You had set up everything you needed for a picnic, you had laid a blanket on the grass and had took some snacks. It was sunset so the view would be even better. As soon as you uncovered her eyes her jaw dropped and she looked down at what you had set up, she was stunned.
“This is my hideout" you started and wrapped your arms around her from behind "whenever I'm too overwhelmed or stressed I come here and relax. No one ever comes here and I never brought anyone here before you so we can make this our place?" You said and looked at her with a small smile “it can be your hideout too, for when you feel like you need alone time” you kissed her cheek again. And waited for her reply. “This is beautiful” she had been speechless until now, “no one has ever done this for me” she said and turned around to look at you, anyone watching from miles away could understand that Jenna was so in love with you and you were too. “You deserve this. Tell you what, tonight the sky will be clear. I also bought some blankets, we could stargaze?” Jenna smiled brightly and obviously agreed, she has never done this before and she was glad that her first time stargazing would be with you.
You were laying down on the blanket you had put on the ground, the sun had just finished setting and a few stars were visible already. Jenna had already snuggled up to you and you had your arms wrapped around her keeping her close to you. “You know, I’ve been thinking about switching careers,” you started and Jenna immediately turned to look at you “what why?” She said and you shrugged. You hoped you wouldn’t upset her with what you were going to say. “I don’t know, I just feel like directing is not my field? I know it’s what I studied for, but it’s not gratifying you know? I want to have more recognition for what I do. Maybe I could try being an actress?” Your revelation got Jenna at loss of words. She wasn’t expecting this, not at all. She thought you loved your work so this kind of left her shocked. “Are you upset?” You asked, seeing as she wasn’t giving you a reply. “It’s just that you studied hard for this job,” she said and you looked down. “You may have not gotten what you wanted, but it’s gonna take time. Being a good actress takes time to, and you know that. I don’t like this idea of yours but I’ll support it no matter what because I love you”
She was right after all, but how could you continue with that job, if you didn’t like it anymore? You have always been like this, ever since you were a child. You started sports, and then left them because they were either too hard or you didn’t like them anymore. This aspect of yours has never changed and will never leave you. “I love you too” you said and gave her a small sad smile. You know what she thought, she thought that you were wasting your studies, your scholarship and everything you had worked so hard to get. And maybe she was right. So you decided to hang on a little more with this job and see where it took you.
You had grown really close to Jenna’s family, her mom treated you like her own child: she made sure your were eating alright, she made sure that you weren’t stressing yourself out like Jenna was, and in general she made sure you were fine... She was to you the mother you never had. And Aliyah was the sister you never had. You texted every day, even if it was sharing some memes or silly pictures, the two of you were always in contact. Eventually the beach days came too, Jenna was always inviting you to go to the beach with her family and this was one of those days. It was a Tuesday, when almost everyone would be working and both of you were less at risk of being recognized, and less people would be at the beach. Jenna had been very playful and that’s why as you were applying a sun protection Jenna threw some sand directly at your legs. This is one of the things you hate about the beach: the sand sticking on your skin.
“Do that again and I’ll throw you in the water” you warned giggling, trying to brush the sand away. Unfortunately for you she didn’t listen and threw sand at your other leg, trying not to laugh at the face you made. “You asked for this” you walked over and picked her up, throwing her over your shoulder “no!” She laughed “let me go!” She kept laughing as you made your way towards the water, getting in until the water was slightly above your waist, her family laughing as they watched you from the beach “is the water cold?” She asked but you smirked and ignored her question “this is for not listening to me” you said and threw her in the water. For a brief second you saw her plug her nose and then you saw her emerge from the water with her mouth opened in an “O” shape from how cold the water was, and you couldn’t help but laugh at her face “you got what you deserved” you laughed and she did the same, as she splashed you. You nearly made the same face she did before and splashed her back.
You kept splashing each other and eventually you decided to “prank” her. You went underwater when she had her eyes closed from the water, and she soon noticed you weren’t splashing her anymore. “(Y/N)? Where are you?” She looked around, and you jumped up from behind her wrapping your arms around her as you heard her scream from the jump scare, but eventually she turned around in your arms and saw you smile at her “you’re even prettier in a bikini” you whispered and she smiled brightly before pulling you in for a sweet kiss, the kiss was salty due to the sea water as your lips danced in perfect sync, your arms in the small of her back and hers around your shoulders. At the moment it seemed that both of you didn’t care if her family was watching you, you didn’t care if paparazzis were around you were just living in the moment. You don’t get this many intimate moments with her so you took advantage of the few you had.
You weren’t even aware of the fact that her sisters were taking pictures of the two of you, but you just looked so cute that they HAD to take those pictures for you to keep. The morning at the beach was peaceful, but in the evening more people started coming and you had to keep affections low to a minimum. It was automatic now and both of you didn’t mind, as long as fans attentions were lowered to a minimum. And that’s exactly how it was, not many people knew her yet, maybe a little bit more after the fallout came out but still it wasn’t much. There were a couple girls asking her for photos and she always, happily obliged. Though you wondered, how would her fame affect your relationship? “What’s going on in that little head of yours?” Jenna asked after sitting down from the third photo of the day. She played with your hair with a small smile. “Nothing I was just thinking…”
“Thinking of what?” She asked you and you sighed. “You do realize that this show will make you hell of a lot more famous right?” She nodded and sighed, looking away from you, probably thinking the same things you were “how will it work for us? I mean- you probably won’t have time… with all the interviews and stuff.. I don’t know how relationships work in the acting field and.. I’m kinda scared” you looked down as well, taking a hold of her hand. “Babe… nothing’s gonna bring us apart. Not fame, not interviews, nothing. I’ll take you with me on interviews, awards and everything. I need you with me.” She said and made you look up at her placing a hand under your chin. You looked at her hopeful. “Are you.. sure?” You asked and she nodded, that small smile of hers you loved showing “yes I’m sure” she was about to give you a small kiss when two girls came up asking for another picture.
Then on another occasion, the two of you had gone out after dinner, just walking together into a park, hand in hand as you weren’t worried about paparazzis anymore. There weren’t many around her, just yet, so you didn’t have to worry. You had been trying to set up the prettiest dates for her to enjoy, but deep down you wanted to make the best out of this relationship before she got too busy and you were managing so far. The park was empty at this time of night and there weren’t many lights around this park, especially not around the lake that was inside of it. It was a small lake, where people usually rented boats but you didn’t need to do so to make this a romantic date. You liked simple dates and Jenna did too, so this would do. The weather made this even more romantic, because at some point it started raining all of the sudden. You weren’t about to ruin the date because of some rain and kissing under it has always been one of your desires with Jenna.
“We should go back home” she started, neither of you had an umbrella so she put her hood on “wait” you stopped her “a kiss under the rain sounds romantic don’t you think?” You said with a small smile and she giggled, taking her hood off before getting on her toes to kiss you. The way the rain kept pouring on you became irrelevant as you picked her up, her legs wrapping around your waist as you shared the softest kiss ever. You were so in love with each other that it seemed unreal, it almost seemed like the love you see in movies and impossible to find real life, but the two of you had it. You had it and you couldn’t be happier off the fact that it was with her. When you pulled back you saw her smiling at you and giggling, as she laid her head on your shoulder. “What?” You laughed as well as you helped her get off of you. “Nothing, this was such a great idea, but my mom is going to kill us” she warned “I couldn’t agree more” you said and finally the two of you started heading to her place. You had basically been living there recently, Jenna didn’t want you to be alone and you didn’t want that either.
And she was right, her mother was mad at the two of you but you couldn’t help but laugh at the situation. You had walked inside the house soaking and dripping, and when her mother pointed out the water trail you had left behind you you both lost it and started laughing non stop, Natalie eventually laughed too but basically ordered you to take a warm bath as to not get sick. Useless to say that you spent the whole time making out and just cuddling.
November arrived, Wednesday had just been released. You binge-watched the whole show in one day with her family, without Jenna as she insisted on not wanting to watch herself on screen. When watching it, you pointed out the scenes you directed, and only you noticed the differences of your scenes from Tim’s. His have better angulation, better lighting, better everything. In the meantime, with it only having been a week since Wednesday was released, Jenna’s fame had definitely increased. She wasn’t free of going in town without being recognized, she wasn’t free of hanging out with you or her family and it was stressing her out, way more than it should. You did your best, you tried being there for her, telling her that it was gonna be okay, that it was just the hype of the moment and that people were going to leave her alone, eventually.
It was the day of the premiere, you and Jenna had decided to sleep in as this would be a long, tiring day for her and she needed as much rest as possible, especially with all the stress she was enduring. You had woken up at around eleven in the morning, and as you rubbed your eyes you noticed that Jenna was sleeping in your arms. You gently played with the few wild hair that had gotten out of her messy bun, This was your way of waking her up gently and it always worked, she always woke up in a happy mood, Same as today. “Hmmm good morning” she said in a sleepy voice, and hid her face under your chin “good morning baby” you said and kissed her forehead, she gave you one of those sleepy smiles you loved. “Big day uh?” You said and she grunted, only pulling you in closer. “I don’t wannaaa” she dragged the last word and you only giggled in response. “I wanna be with you” she said and sleepily kissed your jaw.
As you were about to reply you got a notification on your phone. You grabbed it from your nightstand and took a look “HOLY SHIT” you nearly shouted, sitting up as you rushed your hands in your hair “what is it?” Jenna asked and sat up, “I got an invitation to the premiere-“ you said and she looked at you with a small smile “co-directors never get invited- this is not good” you said and got up, walking back and forth in the room “why is it not good exactly?” She asked as she crossed her legs. “I don’t have a dress? I don’t know how to do my make up I’m-I’m screwed” Jenna laughed and you stopped walking to look at her “what’s so funny?” You said and looked at her “babe, seriously? We have the same size, you’re just a bit taller. I can give you one of my dresses and my make up artists will do your make up and you’ll also have hair done” she said and you sighed, falling back on your bed. “Oh thank god” you said and watched her smile as well.
Her crew came sooner than expected after lunch. You couldn’t decide on a dress, they were all either too long, too short, too tight, too loose… how did Jenna deal with this every time was still a mystery to you, but you had to learn how to if you wanted to become an actress as well… so eventually you opted for this dress which you thought was very simple and didn’t steal Jenna’s spotlight, with the black dress and veil and everything she was just stunning. You were given white high heels, and you couldn’t even walk on them and it made Jenna laugh because you just looked so goofy, but with Jenna’s help you made it work.
Both you and Jenna decided that it would be a good idea to show up in two different cars as to not get too much attention, so you arrived first, just after Tim as the stars would be arriving later. You did get a few applauses, not as much as expected, but you’ll have time for that. You greeted Tim as you hadn’t seen him since you wrapped up filming and it was good seeing him again. The two of you were taken a few pictures, paparazzi mainly focusing on Tim but you didn’t mind. The actors started arriving, you knew Jenna would be the last to arrive because she wanted to build some suspense, so you took advantage of that time to catch up with Emma and everyone else. Emma basically jump-hugged you and you laughed as you hugged her back “so how are things going with Jenna?” She asked as she held your hands.
“Hush don’t say it out loud! People don’t know yet” luckily there wasn’t any attention on the two of you, the paparazzi were too busy greeting Gwendoline who had just arrived. “So you didn’t go public yet?” You shook your head, and Emma was about to speak again but she was called on the carpet for some photos and you stood there awkwardly, not many people knew you, and even less wanted pictures of you. When Jenna arrived your jaw nearly dropped. You had seen her in that dress back at her place, but not with hair and makeup done as well. She looked stunning to say the least. “You’re drooling” Emma said, you hadn’t even noticed her getting back at your side. “Shut up!” You giggled and nudged her shoulder. You went to greet Jenna and took advantage of the hug to tell her “you’re gorgeous” and it made her blush, but she laughed it off.
Eventually all of you were called on the carpet for some group photos, you as well as you stood by Tim and behind Jenna, you decided to “tease” her: paparazzis couldn’t see from this perspective so you gently traced your index finger on her spine, and you saw how she shivered under your touch, and in that moment she wanted nothing more than to turn around and kiss you, show everyone that you were hers, but she couldn’t, not yet. Soon enough everyone was being pulled away for interviews, and surprisingly you had one too. “(Y/N)(L/N) everyone! You look stunning tonight!” The woman said, and you smiled in response “thank you so much! You look good too” you replied back, “so how has this experience been for you? We know it’s your first important premiere” the interviewer said and you nodded “it is indeed. I have to say I was nervous at first, but now that everyone else arrived I’m feeling better”
“This show has definitely gotten a lot of attentions! How are you feeling about it?” You started noticing differences from positive interviews to negative ones “at first I was really, really scared. I mean we all know how my first project went, I was scared that my reputation would have ruined this show and I nearly gave up, but I had support. Me and Tim are very proud of how it turned out, I learned a lot from him” the woman nodded with a small smile as she continued with her questions. “You said you had support,” you nodded “how did your work get affected by friendships on set? I mean, you’re a pretty young director and you’re the same age as the actors right?” You nodded again and smiled “yeah, the others really played a really big part in my life during those months of filming. Especially Jenna, we already worked together on the fallout as you may know, but we got even closer, she’s one of the main reasons I didn’t give up” you nodded to yourself with a small smile, the interviewer seemed to be satisfied with your answer as she continued.
“Well we can definitely expect big things from you (Y/N)” you nodded in thanks “are you working on any project or planning to work on one?” Million dollars question. “Uhm I’m actually thinking of switching careers” you started “directing is fun and gives lots of satisfaction, but I would like to try something new you know? Maybe acting is a better field for me” you said with a small smile. The woman, seeming satisfied enough with your answers said goodbye to you and let you go back to the others. The premiere itself was good, paparazzi taking photos and your friends being interviewed… you just took in the atmosphere. It felt nice if you stopped to think about it. Everyone was there to see Jenna because they loved her, they loved her performance, and not so secretly you thought about how that would feel if people were there to see you.
As you stood aside talking to occasional people and other random actors, eventually the premiere came to an end. You were all leaving, the actors in front while you and Tim stood back, paparazzi taking pictures of the actors as y’all went by. But then Jenna’s steps faltered, she turned around and walked to where you were at the end of the line, taking your hand as she basically started running to her car “Jenna what the hell-“ you said through giggles as she dragged you to her car, trying to keep balance as you still couldn’t walk on those heels. “We’re leaving together” you looked at her in confusion “…okay?” You looked back at Emma and the others and shrugged, before being pulled into Jenna’s car.
You were great for the dark tinted windows because as soon as the car left Jenna sat on your lap, straddling you as she started kissing you deeply. Hands cupping your cheeks and yours went to her waist, “you looked so pretty tonight,” she said in in between kisses and deep breaths “I couldn’t take my eyes off of you” she said and moved to your neck, where she licked, sucked and bit down on your skin, making a soft moan escape your lips. “I can’t get enough of you” she said, you loved this side of her, when she gets touchy and flirty and wanting to make you hers… you love that. Eventually the two of you arrived home, luckily to your apartment as you lived alone, and you made it to the bedroom between kisses, Jenna wanted so bad to get rid of your dress, but she waited for your consent, as the two of you had never done this together.
Suddenly, you pulled back from her “Jen… I’m ready” you told her while trying to catch your breath. Jenna smiled brightly and the both of you discarded of your dresses and made love into the night for the first time, together.
A/N: next chapter will probably contain a lot of angst so grab the popcorn and get ready!

Finally, the exams season is over, so you decide to celebrate it with your little group of friends consisting of 5 boys plus you. Not that you did super great this time and you never had all “excellent” on your exams but that never bothers you and definitely does not prevent you from going to arcades. This was Soobin’s idea that all of you go to play arcades and then go to some restaurant to actually celebrate it, Kai was the first to support it, and then other guys did agree on it as well as you.
“So, is everyone ready to mark the end of the exams and the start of the holidays?” Yeonjun asked excitedly and every one of you shouted a loud “yes!” and all of you headed to the arcades.
You did play a lot of different games, your favorite is air hockey so you and Taehyun were stuck there for some time, while the rest of your group played other games. Even though you mostly paired in some games with Taehyun or Yeonjun your eyes almost never left Beomgyu. It feels like they’re being glued to him, at some times you manage to avert your gaze before he notices you but at some times you were dazed to the point when Beomgyu looked at you questionably then you feel kind of embarrassed. Taehyun nudged you about it (you cursed him for being the smartass that he is) a few times and you just waved his questions off, because you are not ready to accept out loud the fact that you have actual feelings for one of your close friends.
All of you played here for about two or maybe even three hours and decided that it was time to wrap it up but then Yeonjun suggested playing a few rounds of basketball game, the one with the smallest score will pay at the restaurant for the meal. At first, you wanted to play one by one but then thought that it would be time-consuming as there are 6 people so you divided into pairs and you ended up being paired with Beomgyu, you two were second in the line. Soobin and Yeonjun did pretty well and it made you a bit nervous because your skills in basketball weren’t that wonderful so you hope for Beomgyu to do the most for your team. However, as you started the game it wasn’t great at all, you keep missing the ring and so did the boy beside you. “Ughhh..if we will keep doing like this we will end up last!” you said frustrated and looked at Beomgyu with a frown painted on your face. “Sorry Y/n, I don’t think it's my lucky day today,” Beomgyu said sheepishly and scratched the back of his neck. “Okay. Choi Beomgyu, if you win, I’ll kiss you!” you said with a voice full of confidence in your words but once your brain registered them your face felt so hot. Beomgyu turned his head to you abruptly looking at you amused. “Woah, Y/n will you kiss me if I win?” Soobin asked you curiously but you only made a disgusted face at him, “Hey! That’s so rude of you, I’m offended!” the boy pouted. “I don’t care Soob” you rolled your eyes, “It’s a very special proposal only for Beomgyu” You meet his eyes and saw that mischievous glint inside. After this, his shots were much better than before and the score gets higher so you ended up with one point ahead of the older boys.
The competition ended with Yeonjun and Soobin being the last place in this bet and they’re gonna pay for the dinner. “Yaaayyy!! We win! I’m so glad that my poor wallet will not lose its money” you said dramatically and the boys laughed (except for Yeonjun and Soobin whose wallets are gonna cry today). When you went out of the building it was already late evening and the sun was almost got down. Beomgyu took your hand and stopped you on the way. “Gyu? We should catch up with the boys..” you looked at him and your cheeks suddenly feel hotter, his gaze was directly at you, and it makes you feel so flustered. “Y/n, you promised me something” A small smirk appeared on his pretty face. Oh damn..I almost forgot about it. Now you slightly, just a tiny bit, regret that you said that before, because how can you kiss him? You are perfectly sure that he never feel the same as you and he will do this just to tease you later. “Uh..Gyu heh..I thought..uh..I don’t know” you mumbled with your eyes looking at your feet as if it's something interesting. A moment later, the boy’s hand took your chin up closer to his face, it happened so fast that you didn’t even have time to register what was going on. “Stop this. Just kiss me,” he whispered, his lips so close to yours and you can feel his warm breath fanned over your lips. Your mouth is dry from how nervous you are, but you thought that it was now or never, when else will you have the chance to kiss Choi Beomgyu, the boy you have had a crush on for almost a year now. You closed the short distance between your lips and captured his in a sweet and delightful kiss, the boy responded momentarily. The kiss was slow and gentle, you never knew that Beomgyu’s lips would be this soft and warm, you can’t believe that it’s real. Until you heard a very loud shout behind you “Come on! Right in front of my salad, guys” Soobin complained with disgust written on his face. “Wait until you get home, lovebirds. We don’t wanna be witnesses to this thing, my eyes aren’t ready” added Taehyun, and both of you groaned pulling off each other. “Shut the hell up, guys! We will catch up with you soon, just go!” Beomgyu answered back, clearly annoyed with their remarks but you only giggled at him and leaned your forehead into his shoulder.

It had been weeks since any new news. Y/N had been waiting for her brothers to send word once it was done but nothing yet. Impatiently, she decided to check for herself.
The fall season had just begun if the trees changing colors and the wind blowing leaves were any indication. With her fall attire on: a long beige coat, cream turtleneck, black pants, and black stiletto boots, she was ready to go.
Y/N closed her apartment door and stuffed the keys and her phone in the coat pockets. It was cold outside but it wasn’t unbearable…yet.
She had texted him several times, well only thrice, but that was far too many according to her. She figured she’d get a head start but right before she could enter the beaten path that led to the woods, she saw him. He was wearing that signature smirk of his.
“Leaving without me?” He asked, raising one brow.
“You were taking too long. You didn’t respond,” Y/N replied as she kept on walking, not even slowing down for him.
“You only texted twice.” He slightly jogged to keep up, as if he wasn’t capable of running circles around her.
“Thrice.”
“Ah..thrice.” He looked at her from the corner of his eye with a small smile.
“Stop that. We need to go.” She could always feel him looking at her though despite what she’d say, it didn’t bother her.
“It’s creepy when you do that and that’s something coming from me.”
She huffed and sped forward, her heels further destroying the already ruined path. She pulled her coat closer and cursed under her breath for not getting a scarf as well. All that could be heard was the sound of the leaves crunching under her and the scraping of her heels.
Almost ten minutes of walking in silence, they found the wooden homes. Some were left open, others were shut and then there were those that were interesting. They had blood all over their front porches and doors.
Her brothers were meant to have gotten their people safe. Witches were wreaking havoc on everyone that wasn’t their blood, no one was safe. It was up to Y/N and others to look after their own kind.
This is why she sent her brothers deep into the bayou to warn the wolves weeks ago. They were supposed to call and let her know everyone was safe but they never did. She gave it a week and now, she was currently traipsing inches deep in mud looking for her kin.
She checked each home, she knew precisely which ones housed her family but if there were some wolves that were stranded, she’d help them to safety as well. Family or not. Currently they were on their eighth house and still nothing.
At least the houses she had checked weren’t coated in blood. Y/N was about to look into another home when she noticed the little girl by the window. Strange.
Who would leave their child? Maybe there’s still people here. She thought to herself.
Y/N made her way to the front door, holding eye contact with the girl but the loud noise of a branch breaking scared her. The child jumped off the window seat and ran to some other part of the house. Y/N looked back at him and shot a warning glance, he lifted his hands up in mock surrender.
She rolled her eyes and glanced back at the house. As Y/N got closer to it, she could hear little feet pattering about. Before she even had a chance to step on the first step of the front porch, the child charged outside with a wooden spoon. Y/N was quick to move out of the way but he didn’t see the girl so he was met with all the rage a girl, not older than 5, could muster.
Y/N couldn’t help the laugh that fell from her lips. The child was hitting him with a wooden spoon all over but due to her height, she could only reach as high as his knees. He stared at her in amusement and with little to no effort, he lifted the child up by her wrist, the spoon hanging from her other hand.
“Well, what do we have here?” He asked her, her tiny lower body hanging mid air.
She tried to get out of his grasp, wriggling around and said, “No! You can’t steal mister! I’ll make sure!”
“Really? How so?” He quirked a brow, genuinely curious to hear the child’s plan of defense.
“I’ll beat you to a pulp.” She answered matter-of-factly.
“My my, such violence from a tiny thing like you.” He smirked, now fully enjoying their banter.
“I’m not tiny. Put me down, you’ll see.”
“Will you hit me again?”
“Duh.”
“Well in that case I think I’ll wait until that rage is gone.”
The little girl tried to wriggle some more in his hold, trying to twist her way out. She squinted her eyes at him, presumably trying to glare, but it didn’t seem to affect him instead his lips curved upwards into a small smile. In a few minutes she gave up and dropped her spoon on the dirt, huffing with as much sass as possible.
“Ok fine.”
“I accept your defeat.” He smirked and leaned over, placing her down gently.
“Hiyyyahhh!” With a loud thwack, she had picked up her spoon the instant her feet touched the ground and hit him over the head with it.
Y/N let out a loud laugh as he rubbed the back of his head, soothing the sting. She quickly stepped in between both of them and placed her hand out to the girl.
“As much as I’d enjoy watching you beat him to a pulp, let’s stop for now. Please?” Y/N slightly bent to the girl’s height.
“But he can’t steal. I’ll be in trouble.” She whined, looking at her.
“He won’t, I promise.”
“Pinky promise?”
“Pinky promise. Now…” Y/N extended her hand out, palm facing up, to the girl. “...the spoon?”
“Do I win?”
Y/N looked up at him and smiled. “Yes, you won. He’s defeated.”
The little girl handed over her deadly weapon with a beaming smile and walked towards the house. She didn’t go inside though, instead she sat on the front steps. She pulled her legs close together and rested her elbows on her knees, her palms holding her cheeks up.
“Where are your parents?” Y/N asked her.
She shrugged, “I dunno.”
“Did they leave a while ago?”
Again, another shrug. “Mom’s gone for good.”
“Who told you that?”
She hesitated to answer that. Refusing to look directly at Y/N, she replied in a soft voice as she stared at the steps below her, “Dad did, he said I’m too much work.”
Y/N’s heart felt like it would break. The poor child was left alone to fend for herself. It now made sense to her why she didn’t want anything stolen— it’s because that’s all she had. Y/N walked over and sat beside her, mirroring her exact position.
“Are you out here alone?”
“Yeah but times I hear them make noise at night.” She raised her head and pointed at the woods.
“Hear who?”
“The doggies. They’re big and fluffy.”
Wolves. She’s seen the wolves. Y/N thought to herself. What else has she seen or heard out here?
Y/N quickly casted a glance at him and their eyes met, they both were thinking the same thing. Without thinking it completely through, she asked the next thing.
“Would you like to come with us?” Y/N noticed the look of fear mixed with shock on her face and added, “It’s just for tonight, so that I know you’re safe. I’ll bring you back tomorrow if you’d like.”
The little girl bit her lip, thinking it through for a few moments then nodded her head. “Okay.” She stood up from her seat on the steps and looked at Y/N, waiting.
“Alright, go inside and get your things.”
This made her scrunch her face and asked, “What things?”
“Well, things like clothes or a toy.” Y/N tried to explain. She honestly didn’t know what the child should bring.
“I– I don’t.”
“Nothing at all?”
The girl shook her head and looked down at her bare feet, rocking back and forth on her heels. Y/N could feel her anger slowly bubbling inside her, aimed at whoever her parents were. What sort of life was this for a child?
The little girl’s dress was covered in dried mud, dirt, and small pieces of leaves. Her leggings, that were once white or maybe grey, now looked closer to black and they were torn. Her fingers and toes were filled with dirt underneath and cut short. Her hair was unkempt, to say the least, it quite literally looked like she rolled around in it. Y/N was sure if the child were vigorously shaken about, a cloud of dust would be present.
She sighed, from her seated position, she extended her hand to the child. There was no way in hell she’d just leave the little girl by herself. She would never forgive herself if anything were to happen.
The child stepped into Y/N’s arms and asked, “What is your name?”
“My name is Y/N. And yours?”
“I’m Claudia,” she responded in a soft voice.
“It’s very nice to meet you Claudia.”
“What is his name?” Claudia questioned quietly, pointing at the man.
“Go ask him.” Y/N wrapped her arms around the girl and lifted her up. In two steps, she lowered her down at the bottom of the small staircase, gently urging her forward.
Claudia walked ahead but right before reaching the man, she turned around and looked at Y/N as if to ask permission. Y/N nodded her head and offered a gentle smile.
Tugging on his black pants, she looked up at him and asked, “Hey mister, what’s your name?”
He grinned and lowered himself down to her level, holding out his hand and said, “I’m Niklaus.”
“Laus?” Her nose scrunched and brows furrowed, “That’s funny.”
“Niklaus.”
“Still funny but okay Laus.” Claudia shrugged and placed her hand in his then smiled. His hand practically swallowed hers whole, her tiny fingers disappearing in his palm.
Y/N walked over to them, doing her best to hide her chuckle. She enjoyed watching the banter between the two, it was silly and childish.
“Can I carry you? The woods aren’t safe and it’s getting dark.” Y/N asked her.
The child was unsure, she had never been treated so gently. It was foreign to her and the thought of being a problem isn’t one she liked. She contemplated it but eventually said, “Okay but if I’m heavy, I’ll walk.”
Y/N reached down and lifted Claudia up, setting her on her left hip, tucking one hand underneath for more security. They walked in silence through the woods, Claudia sparking a conversation with Laus— sorry Niklaus, here and there. Eventually they made it to the French Quarter and soon after, they were in the Compound.
Rebekah was the first to see them, Kol was next and Elijah walked in with Gia. Y/N kept walking until she reached the living room, there she put the girl down on the couch.
“And who might this be?” Rebekah inquired.
“Our overnight guest, Claudia.” Niklaus spoke, sitting next to her.
“Why?” It was now Kol’s turn to ask.
“Because she needed our help. You will all be on your best behavior.” Klaus glared at his younger brother.
Elijah stood there silently studying him, eyes flickering between the girl and his brother. He looked over at Y/N for further explanation but she was turned around on her phone.
At last, Y/N’s brothers had texted her. They had let her know that everyone was safe and across the state or in other states. Y/N asked them about a little girl who may have been left behind but neither knew anything about it. No parent reported their child missing but they promised to ask discreetly. Y/N sighed and wished them a goodnight then joined back to the conversation.
“Nik is right. You will each treat her well but I will not force any of you to care for her.” With that, Y/N walked out of the room, heading towards her bedroom.
The silence dragged on for what felt like hours but Rebekah broke it. She glanced at the girl and said, “Hello, I’m Rebekah, his sister.”
The little girl didn’t respond so Rebekah tried again and this time asked, “Have you eaten yet?”
Claudia shook her head and kept her fingers busy by playing with her dress.
Rebekah noticed this and hunched over to her height, gently saying, “I haven’t either, would you like to join me?”
Claudia stopped and slowly peered over at Niklaus but he stared at her in confusion then quickly understood her silent question. He nodded and lifted her off of the seat then placed her down on the ground to face his sister.
“Go with her sweetheart.” With his hand on her back, he urged her on. “It’s okay.”
Claudia smiled and held her hand out to Rebekah who took it. The little girl had already felt safe with Y/N and Niklaus, she didn’t know why but her heart was calm around them. She assumed that since Klaus had agreed then Rebekah was not a bad person. She wasn’t trusting of people but she felt something for the hybrid. As they walked towards the hallway that would lead to the kitchen, she introduced herself to the woman.
Gia, Elijah, and Kol stood watching as the little girl walked away hand in hand with Rebekah. Klaus too observed and then he rose up from his seat and turned the opposite way, heading upstairs to find Y/N.
He knocked on the door gently but entered before she could respond. He found Y/N looking through her closet for something.
“Cleaning this late?” He asked.
She poked her head out from the closet door and sighed, “No, I was looking for clothes for Claudia.”
“What for?”
“What do you mean ‘what for?’, she’s in dirty clothes and it’s cold. She needs clean ones and a warm bath.”
“I don’t think anyone’s here would fit her.”
Y/N groaned in frustration, running one hand through her hair. “There must be something.”
In a few long strides, Klaus had made his way over to her. He turned her around so that she was facing him, pushing her hair out of her face and asked, “Tell me what’s wrong love. Why are you upset?”
He knew her too well. Without uttering a word, he could tell her mood from the huffs and puffs of her breathing.
“I just feel useless. The poor girl would be in that cold empty house by herself listening to the wolves outside that she thinks are cute enough to touch. It’s a miracle she hasn’t been harmed yet. And here she is with us, and yet I can’t even find proper clothing for her!” Y/N threw her hands in the air, heaving out an exasperated breath.
“Well I’d like to think I’m cute enough to touch.” He pondered out loud, trying to lighten her mood.
“Nik.” Y/N groaned.
“What? I figured you’d agree love.” He smirked at her and added, “You enjoy touching me.”
“Niklaus.”
He chuckled and pulled her closer to his chest, gently rubbing her back. “Okay, how about we get her some new clothes tomorrow?”
“And what about tonight?”
“She can wear a sweater or something while her clothes get washed.”
Y/N smiled slowly and rested her head on his shoulder, wrapping her arms around him. “Thank you.”
“Of course.” Klaus smiled to himself, pressing a kiss in between Y/N’s neck and shoulder. Suddenly, he nipped at her neck playfully which made Y/N jump back slightly.
“Nik!” She tried glaring at him but failed as her lips curled into a small smile.
He grinned at her and said, “You love it darling.”
After finding a suitable sweater, some fuzzy socks, and starting a hot bath, Y/N and Klaus made their way to the kitchen. Claudia was sitting in the dining room between Kol and Rebekah, Elijah was across from them. Gia had left for the night.
“Ooh what happened?” Claudia asked excitedly.
“He fell! Face into the mud!” Rebekah replied with a laugh.
“Oh no!” She exclaimed, her eyes wide looking at Kol. “Do you have a boo-boo?”
“Not anymore darling.” Kol told her and showed her his forearm for proof. “It’s healed now.”
“Okay, that’s good.” She patted his arm gently with a smile.
Elijah had been quietly listening and observing his siblings interact with the little girl, a soft smile was etched on his face. He couldn’t express the amount of joy he felt seeing them act so…human. This child would be a blessing, he thought to himself.
Y/N and Klaus stood at the doorway watching. They all behaved as though they had known her for ages, it was surreal. Claudia looked back at her plate and then noticed Y/N. With a wide grin, she shuffled ungracefully from her seat then hopped off and scampered off to her. Y/N crouched down and embraced her in a hug.
“Hi! Did you eat?”
“Yes, Bex let me have anything!” Claudia nodded enthusiastically.
“Bex?”
Claudia quickly looked down and mumbled a ‘sorry’.
“Honey, what’s wrong?”
“I don’t want you to be upset with me. I won’t call her that again, I promise.”
Y/N was a bit confused so she knelt in front of the girl and shook her head. “Sweetheart, I’m not upset at all. I’m glad you ate with Bex. Can you tell me why you’re sorry?”
“Dad gets upset with me all the time so I thought you were too.” Claudia explained but she kept her eyes down on her hands.
“I’m not upset. If that’s what you want to call her and she’s ok with it, that’s alright with me.” Y/N placed her hands on top of the little girl’s and added, “I was just surprised, that’s all.”
“Promise you’re not upset?” Claudia asked, finally looking up at Y/N.
“I pinky promise.” Y/N offered a smile and raised one of her hands with her pinky finger lifted up. Claudia mirrored her and linked their pinkies together then kissed her thumb.
“Okay.” The little girl smiled again and wrapped her arms around Y/N.
“Love, are you done eating or would you like more?” Klaus looked down at her.
“I’m done but Kol said we can have serts!” Claudia’s smile widened, repeating the promise.
“What the bloody hell is a sert?” Klaus muttered to himself as he looked over at his brother who shrugged.
“Niklaus language.” Elijah warned his brother whilst looking at Claudia. Klaus quickly placed a hand over his mouth, dramatizing the action as he hid a smirk.
“Do you mean dessert darling?” Kol asks her.
She turned around but remained in Y/N’s arms and answered, “You said sert.”
“I did not.” Kol argued.
“Did too.” Claudia sassed back.
Rebekah scoffed, “Kol are you really bickering with a child?”
“Am not.” He exhaled dramatically and gestured at the girl, “Anyways she started it.”
Y/N leaned forward and tried to ignore them. She asked Claudia, “What would you like to have?”
She lifted and dropped her shoulders, blinking at Y/N. “I dunno, never had serts before.”
“Well you’re in for a treat darling!” Kol exclaimed, the miniscule argument already forgotten. He pushed himself out of his seat and made his way towards her. He bent down and made grabby hands at her, Claudia giggled and rushed out of Y/N’s arms and into his. He beamed as he lifted her up.
“Wait, a bath first or the water will get cold.” Y/N saw the look on the girl’s face and promised, “You can have dessert afterwards.” Claudia looked out past the dining room to the window in the kitchen and said, “Oh okay but it’s dark outside.”
“No sweet girl, the bath is inside where it’s warm and there’s light.” Rebekah explained as she too left her seat and stood up. “Would you like me to come with you?”
“Yes please.” Claudia replied and Kol lowered her. She took Rebekah’s hand and they made their way up the stairs. Claudia hopped on each step one at a time. She was showing Rebekah that she was a bunny rabbit and this made the Original chuckle.
Y/N watched them until they were out of her sight and then turned to the brothers. Elijah was still seated, he didn’t want to intervene, aside from the quick scold, and felt no need to so he watched.
“What do you think she meant when she said her father gets upset with her?” Elijah asked, looking up at Y/N.
“Yes I’d like to know as well.” Klaus agreed and headed for the table, reaching for a glass. “I’d hate to assume otherwise.”
“Now could you shed some light on who she is?” Elijah asked.
“That’s what I’m trying to figure out.” Y/N answered him then looked over at Klaus, “They said they don’t know her, no one does.”
“You think they left her?” Klaus swirled the liquid around the glass then downed it.
“Maybe, I’m not sure.”
Elijah and Kol quickly glanced at each other, completely out of the loop. Y/N took a seat as did Kol then she explained the entire day to them. By the end of it, everyone was now on the same page. They had all agreed that the girl would stay with them until there was confirmation of a missing child or they found the parents.
Rebekah and Claudia were having a blast, figuratively and literally, during the bath. Claudia had never seen such a huge room and her eyes practically fell out of their sockets when she saw the huge tub. Y/N had thrown in a pink sparkle bath bomb to make up for the lack of bath toys.
Claudia splashed about, giggling throughout and Rebekah couldn’t help smiling. The girl was nothing if not joyous despite her life. While she bathed, Rebekah took the liberty to place her clothes in the washer and threw the sweater in the dryer so it was warm for her.
Once they were done, she carried her out of the tub and placed her on the bed. Rebekah left her to oil herself as she went to switch the clothes out. She returned and helped Claudia get dressed but they stayed in the room. She wanted to wait until her clothes were fully dry and warm so the girl could wear them before going back downstairs.
With her tights on — that now had their color back — and fuzzy socks plus a huge warm sweater that practically swallowed her, they made their way back to where everyone was.
“We’re back!” Rebekah announced as they walked in, carrying the little girl.
“You look so cozy.” Y/N smiled.
“I am! Bex and I played with the water. It went splish splash!” Claudia happily demonstrated using her body to sway side to side.
“Oh that sounds fun! How do you feel?”
“Warm and ready for serts!” She peeped at Kol who grinned at her.
Everyone had left the dining room and found themselves a seat on the couches in the living room. The heat was turned on and the fireplace was already going. There was a small tray of marshmallows, chocolate, and crackers. Kol grabbed the tray and walked over to the fireplace, sitting in front of it.
“Yes you are ready. Come join me darling.” He looked over at Claudia and patted the seat next to him.
This time she didn’t look at Y/N or Klaus for permission, she hesitated for a second but then wandered over. She sat next to him and waited to see what he would do.
“You poke the marshmallow with the stick then hold it over the fire. Not too close or it’ll burn.” He instructed her gently and demonstrated before helping her with it.
“It looks like a fluffy pillow.” She noted, eyes twinkling in awe as she stared at the marshmallow.
“It does, doesn’t it?” He watched her momentarily then handed the stick to her. “It tastes even better.”
The first try went surprisingly well. Kol showed her how to put the cooked fluffy pillow on the bed of chocolate and crackers. He blew it for her so it wasn’t too hot to burn her mouth. She took one bite and she was sold. They kept doing this until they each had 4 s’mores at the very least.
Eventually they included everyone else but Claudia wanted to make it for them. So that’s exactly what she and Kol did, they made more for his siblings. After her sixth s’more she shook her head, not wanting any more.
Claudia was now seated next to Klaus, her head laid on his arm. At first he tensed at the action but then relaxed. He lifted his arm up, letting her rest her on his side as his arm engulfed her. Her eyes kept fluttering close but she kept insisting that she wasn’t tired yet. Less than ten minutes after that statement and she was gone. Claudia was sandwiched between Klaus and Y/N but she was hidden away in his arms, curled into a little ball. Y/N looked at her sleeping figure and chuckled. She was in the process of standing up to take her to bed but Klaus shook his head at her. He wanted to instead.
Claudia stirred when he shifted and lifted her up. She couldn’t muster the strength to open her eyes so she kept them closed and said, “Bye bye everyone.” Even her sleepy voice was cute.
They all responded with a chorus of ‘goodnight’ and with that Niklaus took her to a guest room that was next to his and Y/N’s. The bed had been made ready for her. He decided that tomorrow he’d go out with Y/N to get the little girl some things.
Tumblr media
The night went smoothly. Y/N had thought something would go wrong and was worried the entire time but Klaus offered to stay up.
During the late hours of the night, Klaus heard something. The sound was muffled but as he concentrated on the sound, it became clearer. It was Claudia and it sounded like crying.
He sat upright from his seat by the fireplace and headed towards the bedroom door, he turned to briefly glance over at Y/N then continued on. Claudia’s room was next door though the lights were off and he didn’t wish to wake her.
Expertly, he turned the knob and the door cracked open slowly. He saw she was still in bed and there was nothing in the room. Still, he heard the same sounds.
He fully stepped into the room, cautious not to wake her, and walked over to the bed. He stood next to her, listening intently. She was crying in her sleep but the tears rolling down were visible. He wasn’t sure what to do. A part of him wanted to wake Y/N up and ask her but he also wanted to figure it out for himself.
Klaus extended his arm across and gently shook her. He had to do it two more times but still nothing so he decided to try another way. He placed his hands on the sides of her head and closed his eyes, in seconds he entered her mind. Even there, he could hear the sniffling. It didn't take him long to find her, the noises acted like a guide for him.
He saw her seated on the ground, back pressed against the tree and her legs were raised to her chest, hiding her face between her knees. She hadn’t yet noticed him.
“Claudia?” He called out softly, hoping she didn’t get startled.
Her head lifted and twisted quickly in his direction, completely surprised by his presence. She didn’t know how he was there. She didn’t say anything though instead she stared at him with wide eyes.
“Are you hurt love?”
She may not have wanted to speak but she could still respond in other ways so she shook her head. He inched closer and closer to her, slowly making his way over without scaring her. Before he could reach her, he heard it behind him. A low growl. A noise that he was all too familiar with. Klaus had to make a choice now, either he sped over to her or chased the beast away from the child. Seeing the look of terror written on her face, eyes glossed in tears, he raced over to her and picked her up.
The moment he touched her, she jolted up awake and sobbed on his chest. He lowered his hands from her face and wrapped them around her figure instead, tightly pressing her against him. They stayed that way until her cries turned into sniffles. Only he could understand her fear, he too was a child when he saw his first wolf but unlike her experience his was real and had severe consequences.
Y/N had been awoken by the crying so she went to find its source. She was going to walk into the room and help but after seeing how Klaus had handled it, she stood at the doorway instead. She watched them in silence until her eyes met with Klaus’ and she smiled sadly. Y/N gestured with her head to their room and left; soon after Klaus followed with Claudia in his arms. Y/N was sat on their shared bed, duvet pulled back for easy access.
“Would you like to stay here for the rest of the night?” Y/N asked the little girl once Klaus had placed her down on the bed.
“You will allow that?” Claudia carefully asked.
“Of course sweetheart. Come here.”
She shuffled over to Y/N until there was no room between them. Y/N tossed the blanket over both of them and hugged the girl, pressing a soft kiss on top of her head. Klaus stood and watched them, a sweet smile on his face. He walked to the other side of the bed to Y/N, leaned down and placed a kiss on her forehead. She sighed softly and held onto his arm.
Claudia peeked over at Klaus and patted the top of the covers. “It’s very warm.”
“Hmm, is it?” He let out a wistful sigh, “I wouldn’t know, I’ve been left out here in the cold.”
Y/N and Claudia exchanged a glance and snorted a laugh. They dove under the covers, throwing it over their heads, and whispered underneath in secret.
Klaus continued on, “Oh how I’d love to be warm. I’m all alone.”
This only made the girls giggle even more, their whispers increasing in volume. Claudia lifted her head and grinned at him, “Ok grumpy pants, you can join.”
“Really? Wait—” He paused after he had thought it through and asked, “Grumpy pants?”
“Mmhm.” She nodded her head and before he could say anything, she was back under the covers.
Klaus smirked at the plan he had concocted in his head. In a flash he was back on the other side of the bed when he reached his hands out and searched for the little girl. She squealed when he touched her and then wiggled away. He looked for her again, this time around he tickled her until she emerged.
“Wait– hahah…ple–please…” Claudia could barely get a word out throughout her laughing fit.
Y/N pulled her head out of the covers and chuckled. Seeing the girl this happy made her heart swell with joy. It was a stark comparison to the girl they found the day before. Claudia and Klaus played for a little longer until the girl was tired. Soon, she was laying on Klaus’ chest completely knocked out.
Y/N scooted closer to them, resting comfortably at his side. He lowered his arm on her shoulder to keep her close to him; she reached for his hand and entwined it with her own. Raising her head up to his, she gently kissed his lips and shut her eyes. He smiled through it and returned the affection, lingering just a bit longer.
They soon pulled away and she said, “My grumpy pants.” He chuckled at that but the rumbling of his chest made the sleeping child on his chest stir.
“I will be unless you admit that I am cute enough to touch.” He said.
Y/N snickered and raised a brow, “Still on that?”
He lowered his head down a bit as though he wanted to whisper something but instead nipped at her shoulder and smirked, “You know I am love.”
“You are cute and I enjoy touching you,” Y/N started then continued, “But you’re also a grumpy pants.”
“If only there wasn’t a child present, I’d show you just how grumpy I can be.” He smugly smiled down at her.
Y/N sucked in her bottom lip as she gazed up at him, “If only.”

Day 23; share a story with an nonhuman character!
Here’s another piece for the DNAliens universe! This one’s a rather short story of how Aethra got her first human pet!
Aethra knew Eracin specifically told her not to bother the village of humans to the north.  “Let them be,” she’d said, “You will only scare them off if you get much closer.”  Eracin was on a long trip to the western lands at the moment, however.  There was no one around to turn Aethra away from her temptations.  After five days of intently watching the village of humans, she’d finally found the perfect pet.
He was a young male, long fluffy fur covered his head like a vale, and he was oh so cute.  Aethra had her eye on him for a while now — from the moment the new humans had arrived.  Today was the perfect day to adopt him.  It was both cloudy and foggy, which created the perfect cover for her to sneak close enough to bring him home.  The silly little humans probably wouldn’t even realize he was missing.  Even if they did, they reproduced quickly enough that they wouldn’t miss him for very long.  Slinking quietly through the heavy fog like a predator on the hunt, Aethra positioned herself on a path that led directly into the village.  Once her little human came this way, he would undoubtedly fall directly into her clutches.
At the same moment Aethra situated herself on one of the hunting trails, the human she wanted so badly, Jin, was packing up for a three-day hunting expedition with two of his friends.  They’d almost postponed the expedition till tomorrow, but the rainy season was getting closer with each day.  The moment the first storm hit, the river would be too flooded for them to cross.  It was now or never.
His younger brothers cried out one last time for Jin to take them with him.  His mother kissed him gently on the head and made him promise to return home safely.  He might have returned perfectly unharmed if he and his friends had taken a different trail.  He also might’ve died a horrible death at the claws of some unknown beast.  There’s really no way to know what might’ve become of Jin if he’d taken another trail, but he had just so happened, on that particular foggy morning, to take the same trail Aethra was guarding.
Jin had been joking with the others about what they would find in the vast new territory, when his mind suddenly drew a blank.  Who was he?  Where was he?  Why was he here?  Oh, right.  He was walking into the woods, heading south to a large cavern.
This lapse in memory was caused by Aethra’s unique ability to make others think her own will is theirs.  She was delighted when her little human came wandering through the fog right to her side.  Continuing onward to her home in the caves of the large southern mountain range, Aethra and her unsuspecting human traveled kilometers without a single break.  The 5 meter tall being could complete the journey fairly easily, but the human struggled to keep up, even with Aethra’s ability tugging him onwards further than his usual stamina would carry him.  Right before nightfall, the pair finally arrived at the cave that would now house them both.
After a long drink of water from a natural pool nearby, Aethra returned to her faithfully waiting pet.  Once she deemed everything ready, she released the human from her influence.  “What..  Where am I?” Jin gasped, aching and out of breath though he wasn’t sure why. The moment he was let go, Jin had instantly recalled everything he’d forgotten, but this place was still foreign to him.  He looked around every which way, trying to find out what happened, when his gaze landed on Aethra.  The human cried out in alarm, scrambling backwards as the creature sidled closer.
“Stay back!” Jin cried, brandishing his hunting knife.  The strange being drifted backwards slightly, suspended in the air by her many lean tails, eyes wide in confused fear.  Briefly, Jin forgot who he was again.  The next time he regained his own thoughts, his hunting knife was gone, as were the rest of his possessions that he'd brought with him for the trip.  Not only that, he found himself suddenly much closer to the being than he’d been before.  Jin realized in shock that whatever kept happening to his mind must be this creature's doing.
"There there little thing, it's alright," Aethra said clamingly, "You do not have to attack me, I do not want to hurt you."  Jin spoke a completely different language, however.  The only thing her comforting words did was make him more anxious.  "Come with me.  I will show you your new home."  The human had no idea what this creature wanted from him, but it didn't seem vicious.  Suddenly, Jin was nudged forwards by one of Aethra's many appendages.
"Where are you taking me?" he asked cautiously, but the strange being only made an amused noise before continuing to guide him in the direction of a cave nearby.  He might've been more scared if the cave was dark and cryptic, filled with bones and smelling of death, but the cavern she took him to was furnished with strings of welcoming glowing lanterns.  There were countless carpets covering the cold stone floor, and various strange shining contraptions lining the walls.  Jin had never seen anything like it.  The cave was decorated in the same fashion as a palace.
Aethra happily guided the human through their home, showing him all the little things she'd prepared for him.  He seemed most fascinated with her padrings, which were secured in their charging stand at the moment.  "I just knew you were the one the moment I saw you!" she gasped, watching her pet explore his new home, "You are so cute!  Yes you are!"
Excited by the human's interest in her things, she pulled out two items she'd made specially for him.  Well, for any pet really, but they were his now.  She placed down a little bed for him in the corner next to her own, and scooped him up, placing a homemade collar around his neck.  Now, he was officially hers.  The human squirmed in her grasp, so she placed him back down with a small sigh.  "Aww, you do not like being picked up?  I will train you to like it eventually, but right now I think you have had enough excitement for today, right little guy?"
As Aethra sweet-talked her nonsense, Jin was beginning to panic.  When he first saw the being's strange glittering possessions, he thought she might be a lesser goddess, or princess of some otherworldly realm like in the stories his mother told to his younger brothers.  He thought he'd finally found a real adventure.
Then, the being pulled out a pillow-like bed that seemed vaguely similar to the ones given to the village dogs to sleep on, though they were not nearly as exquisite.  Jin put the uneasy thought to rest, but it quickly resurfaced once the being pulled out a little band that was very clearly a collar.  Before he could run, she'd wrapped him in her tangling appendages, and forced it onto his neck.  This creature hadn't brought him here to bestow him with a magical gift or secret wisdom like the stories.  She'd abducted him here so she could make him into some kind of pet!
The second she put him down, Jin raced full-speed out of the cave.  Upset cries echoed from behind him, but he didn't dare turn around.  Still unsure where exactly he was, Jin picked a direction and ran.  He was one of the fastest in his village, so it wasn't too surprising that he'd soon left that monster in the dust.  However, night was falling fast, and Jin didn't have his flint anymore.  It had been taken by the creature along with the rest of his things.
Aethra herself was now in a state of panic as well.  She hadn't seen which direction her pet had bolted off to.  She assumed his swift exit had something to do with her picking him up, and he was simply being overdramatic .  Thankfully, as the evening faded to the dark of night, Aethra gained a crucial advantage.  According to both her and Eracin’s studies, humans couldn't see very well in the dark, and they were diurnal, meaning her human would probably stop to hide somewhere for the night.  She also has vision much better-suited to the dark.  It wouldn't be long before she found her pet again.
Despite what Aethra thought she knew, Jin didn't stop once night fell, even as the sun disappeared over the horizon.  He didn't plan to ever stop running until he got back to the village — wherever it was.  Unfortunately, a few miles into his journey he'd tripped over a root sticking out of the ground that he hadn't seen in the growing dark.  His leg twisted painfully as he fell — knocked unconscious.
When he woke, he found himself swaying to a strange rhythm of footsteps.  At first he thought in relief that someone had found him and he was being carried back home.  His hopes were shattered once he opened his eyes.  The monster was carrying him to her home.  Quickly, Jin shut his eyes, pretending he hadn't yet woken up.  Whenever the creature set him down, he would spring into action and escape back into the forest.  Eventually, Aethra did set her human down for a moment to rest.  Her arms were starting to get tired of carrying him.  "Why have you not woken yet?" she asked the unconscious human, turning to find empty space.
"What!?  Where have you gone?  I know I put you right here!"  Suddenly, a cry echoed from the trees nearby.  Soon, Aethra caught up to her runaway pet.  He wasn't moving very fast now.  Examining him more closely as he fell to the ground, she could see that one of his legs had been twisted painfully out of shape.
"Oh you poor thing!" Aethra cried, watching as the human struggled to get back up.  "Come now child, you will wear yourself out.  Let me take you home."  Her small human protested and writhed the entire way back, but once she laid him down on his bed, he went limp, groaning in agony.  Aethra quickly grabbed some natural medicine from one of her shelves.  She wanted so badly to give him some of her own medicine — the kind that could heal broken bones within a few minutes — but he was still a wild creature.  Who knew how his body would handle the foreign substance?
She did the best she could with the healing remedies made from things of her pet's own planet.  In time he would get better.  He drifted back into unconsciousness again, so there was really nothing much to do besides wait.  While her human was sleeping, Aethra made sure to block the bottom of the entrance to her cavern with a few small boulders — tall enough to keep her pet inside, but not so tall that she couldn’t slip over them.  This way, her human couldn't run away and hurt himself anymore.  If luck was on her side, she could have him healed up before Eracin returned.

i would love to hear more about some of the unfinished The Wilds fics
Buckle up. There's a lot of stuff dying in my hard drive. Maybe, when I get the time, I should try to finish some of it up/patch it up/post random snippets (if anyone would be interested?).
So here's the thing, I have my drive separated into two types of fics for The Wilds: there are fics I consider potentially still in play and fics I've scrapped altogether. Two different folders. I'll make you a list under the cut and tell you what I consider each to be. And I'll probably give too much commentary about each.
If you want to know more or get a snippet of any of them, please send follow up asks. I would love to share. Or I'd love to hear what, if I were to pick back up with writing, you'd want to read the most. No guarantees, but I'll think about it.
I posted the snippet for i'll be waiting on you forever from Fatin's POV in another ask. Not very far into that, but I also haven't moved it to the scrapped folder. I think my problem with that kind of fic is it doesn't feel fresh enough - it's hard to make it feel new when we already know where it's headed. I've done it before, but it's hard.
I started a second Star Wars AU that's unrelated to the first where Leah's a Jedi Padawan and Fatin is a senator - literally Anakin and Padme in Attack of the Clones. Didn't get very far but didn't scrap it.
I have one that I'm still hoping to finish that's placeholder titled "Leah loses her mind" rightfully or wrongfully, I don't know. It explores her season two on island hallucinations and how that affects her and the group. It's 6.5k and unfinished, but I'm planning to take a look at it and see what can be done.
There are so many post island fics that are just snippets and doing nothing on my drive. I kept trying to experiment with writing all of the season two POVs post island and that shit is hard. Probably a sign not to expand too far away from Leatin because apparently I can only care so much lmao. But I haven't bothered to scrap them.
There's one where I attempted to write Leachel but that shit was also hard apparently. Really I was trying to write all different pairings and didn't get very far. Not scrapped and I have considered trying again more than once.
I started a no experiment AU where it was just an actual plane crash. I have 5k of that and no memory of writing it. Not scrapped. Not sure if I'd ever finish that.
The season 3 fic outline I mentioned in another ask but didn't link because I was on mobile, so that's here if you missed it. Not scrapped, but unfortunately I think outlining it made me feel like I told the entire story even though I never wrote more than 2-3 chapters. That's the problem with outlining, but only sometimes, because I outlined the exes fic/we're falling apart still we hold together, and that was fine.
I started a road trip AU back in 2021. Wrote 7k. Outlined the entire thing and same problem as above. Got stuck. I think I was trying to force word counts on myself for each chapter and it wasn't working. Not scrapped but very unlikely I'll touch it.
I have one just called "waterfall 5" that has five moments spent at the waterfall, and I almost finished it. I think I still have some hope of finishing it, since it's a quick thing.
I've talked about it before, probably two/three years ago at this point jfc, but I don't remember what I've disclosed about this fic. It's the one I mentioned in another ask about it not feeling right, so I didn't put it out, and it's something like 50k words and had a massive plot hole that I had to try to fix, and I was going to do a whole rewrite and maybe put it out. This one haunts me. There's a chance I'll throw the entire draft out one day without editing or fixing any issues. Or maybe I'll take another stab at it, since it's all there. Truly, this one haunts me. For once, I had a perfect title and nothing to show for it. There's probably snippets of it in asks on my blog somewhere from back when The Wilds wasn't cancelled and I was insane about it.
I scrapped the Grey's Anatomy AU. Just gave up on it.
I wrote 239 words of something vaguely Dotin and scrapped that too.
I have a first draft of the fake dating AU i don't belong to you (but you're wrong) that I scrapped. I took it in an entirely different direction and scrapped 10k of this other thing. I think I salvaged some of it for the posted fic, but it started going the wrong way.
Also have a scrapped draft of the last chapter of the soulmate AU i said i wouldn't let you in. That first draft of that chapter was BAD.
I scrapped 14k of everyone else's perception of what was happening with Leatin on the island. Like Leatin through every other character's eyes, and I don't remember why it didn't work or what I didn't like about it.
I'm not gonna lie, some of this stuff I'm looking at...even I don't know what it is anymore.
I scrapped a document called "untitled" and this is literally all that's in it:
"She sees her on the first day of school, sitting with the kid that supposedly led the FBI to Gretchen. Leah smiles slightly as Fatin crosses the lawn, and the kid – Ian – turns to look where Leah’s looking, and Fatin just tilts her head in acknowledgment and keeps walking. There’s nothing more for her to do."
I don't know what that is.
There's STILL a lot more documents I haven't touched on because I haven't bothered to open them and find out what they are (and my placeholder titles don't tell me much all the time). But I feel like this is a good start lmao.
Sorry for writing a novel, but you did ask. If you want more, let me know and I will make time over the weekend to post some stuff.

SaL anon here friend and I don't know about you but I'm so, so tired. Amazing how the rush of excitement I got at seeing the promo pics for an actual dramatic emergency could instantly be taken out by a 7 second promo. I feel like KR got the news well before the official announcement and said "I'm going to turn this finale into everything I want", and basically decided to push everyone but Buck to the sidelines and make them observers while pairing him with her failed self-insert. And ugh, the only thing equally as bad as the prospect of L being involved in saving everyone is the prospect of the emergency just being like a quarter of the episode and us wasting the rest of the time on wrapping up Buck's many, many, many storylines. I know we don't know for sure this is what would happen, but KR has given us no reason to think it won't. Frankly I think we should let ABC know that should they, in taking over 911, choose to retcon anything (or everything) from the last two seasons we're okay with that, and no questions will be asked.
And yeah, I can definitely agree that while Buck taking over during a crisis would be a nice way to get closure on his doubts from episode 1, the path there (if one can call it a path, which implies it goes somewhere) makes absolutely no sense. I don't even want to think about how they are going to shove Natalia (I think she's around next episode?...still) and a baby into the whole mess. I honestly would have easily taken 50% less Buck this season if they had just taken the time do the leadership arc well and have this grand emergency to show that off.
So while I'm kind of resigned on the finale for OG, I have a bit more hope for the LS one, though I too am hard side-eyeing the "earn the wedding" comments. Who exactly has to earn this wedding? The audience? They make the effort to tune in regularly despite some pretty shitty writing choices, I think they're owed a debt. The characters? Not sure how two people being in an long-term relationship and seeing each other through hardships hasn't earned them a wedding. We'll see what happens, but at this point its the odds are 50/50 that this "tragedy" will involve either a hospital or a crime scene (or both)
Hi my friend! I have been under the weather this week and ended up being out of town all day today so I am *literally* tired, but also I am WITH you on my excitement for the finale getting sucked away by half that promo being of L and her once again butchering line delivery on something as minimal as "mayday" 🙄 I already got my hopes up for a good firefam feels focused episode and got let down by 6x11 SO HARD, so I'm just going to operate under the worst assumptions that way I can, hopefully, end the episode with a "could have been worse I guess". Although I went into 6x17 with zero expectations and the show still managed to let me down anyway soooo 🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️
I'm sure KR knew something was up, the negotiations were *rough* last year so I'm sure they were all told to prepare. And since it's something the show usually does, wrapping up nicely each season, it won't feel out of place, however I'm also worried the emergency won't be that long. Seasons 2-4 all had a cliffhanger in the penultimate episode to get people to tune in to the finale but 6x17 did NOT give people a lot of reason to HAVE to tune in. At least s5 made the effort of showing that firetruck crash like 8000 times over the week and making it look like Bobby was in danger, even if it was just a 5 min emergency that ultimately didn't do anything at all or affect anyone. They couldn't even be bothered to give a promo until Friday and without a cliffhanger, what's the hook to draw everyone in for the finale? Because you know those casual viewers are scouring the internet for news about the show, hell, most of them probably figured with no promo that 6x17 WAS the finale! Madney got engaged which is usually a season finale thing so I wonder how many of them though that was it!
"I honestly would have easily taken 50% less Buck this season if they had just taken the time do the leadership arc well and have this grand emergency to show that off." 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 SAAAAAAAME. They should have spent less time trying to turn everything about his storylines into a joke and actually delved into HIS emotions more. Instead we got the whole sperm baby now being about some rando characters we don't even know or care about's emotions for some reason?! His death being turned into "haha funny math skills for ONE episode only!" And this whole death doula thing where we haven't even heard them actually really talking about anything and what we did see was her being DEEPLY insensitive and unempathetic for her line of work, and then a parade of Buck's awful choices to remind everyone of them for??? What reason exactly? To give her a reason to leave? When after what we've seen we....didn't even need her in the first place? Like, WHAT has she actually said or done that has actually been meaningful or addressed Buck's death? We saw some of the aftermath in his talk with Eddie at the cemetery but what purpose besides giving Buck another LI he met on a call is she actually serving? Anything important could have been imparted by a victim at a call, and that triggered Buck to talk to someone in his firefam (OR HIS THERAPIST FOR THE LOVE OF CHRIST!), and given us a peek into Buck's head about it. Instead we have wasted all this time on what? An excuse to bring two of the most audience hated characters back? WHAT?! Like, literally, who allowed this to happen? WHOMST in that production team looked at this absolute mess that KR presented as an idea and said "yeah, that works!" ?!?!?!?! Sorry, I'm too grouchy to try and make sense of this, it's just SO stupid and such a waste of time, the ONE thing KR is good at.
As for LS, I still haven't gotten to watch last week's episode. I'm hoping to watch it tomorrow but at this point I'm just watching that show with an "eh. This might as well happen I guess" because I'm out of energy for much more than that. I've seen some of the spec floating around but mostly I'm just excited that we were all right and Paul is officiating. Bobby is gonna be sooooo jealous. But for real, WHAT is this idea on shows that characters have to "earn" happiness and that always meaning that someone like, dies, or they have to be miserable in 98% of the episodes to get one or two happy scenes before the next tragedy strikes? Because I think the WRITING should have to earn the payoff and neither show has managed to do that this season.
Here's expecting the worst so we aren't TOO disappointed, while holding space to be happy if Andrew manages to get around the nonsense KR insisted on to give us a decent emergency because I doubt we'll get a satisfying wrap up for anything else on the Buck or Eddie front. Maybe we'll get extra lucky and the backlash after this week (and on that TVLine article, seriously what did they expect with that question?) will get L's scenes cut as much as possible again. For old times sake. Pretty much every article comment space, review space, and SM space I've seen has been pretty clear about KR needing to be gone so here's hoping ABC is taking notes! At the very least, their promo team can't possible be worse, right?

The Choices We Make | Chapter 5: Stealth
Tumblr media
{cross-posted on ao3} {masterlist}
<- previous chapter next chapter ->
Pairing: Imperial!Crosshair x Tholothian!OC
Warnings: angst
Word count: 2767
Summary: Zareena has a plan to search for information regarding Lyle's wherabouts.
a/n: Welcome back!
Sorry I didn't post this chapter sooner, but after that season finale I was too depressed to write for almost a week. I love writing a grumpy character falling in love, and I hope you have just as much fun reading this chapter as I had writing it, dear reader. Enjoy!
Tumblr media
"What is this? Misfit central?"
That was the first of many comments Zaree paid no mind to as she approached the table Crosshair sat at with a sad expression on her face. She had looked sad last night, but now even more so, and Crosshair had a feeling something had happened. She didn't look like she fully acknowledged his presence as she sat down and shoved the mushy food over her plate with her spoon. That ray of sunshine of a woman was gone and that concerned Crosshair.
"You're bringing the mood down here." he said, keeping a neutral expression, staring at her while slowly eating the goo that was supposed to be breakfast. "Did one of those regs upset you again?" he asked with a lot of suppressed anger, eying the table the group of clones that were bothering them were sitting at.
"If that was only the case." she huffed. "My foreman paid me a visit this morning. He said someone new will take Lyle's position. They really want to replace him, I- I don't want to work with someone new. How can they do that?!" she hit her fist on the table, accidentally spilling her caf. "Shit…" With one hand she tried to dry the puddle of caf, the other wiped away the tears forming in her eyes.
Crosshair had never seen Zaree like this. At that moment he decided he hated seeing her so unhappy. Sure, her usually positive nature annoyed him at times, but seeing such a warm person so broken made him feel things, which, of course, he wouldn't show.
"The work needs to be done, and since your friend is gone…" he tried his best to find words of comfort, but comforting someone was really not one of his strengths.
"I know you're right… I just wish Lyle would be here. I'm sure you two would get along well. I made a new plan by the way."
Crosshair sighed exasperatedly. "What now?"
Zaree looked around and whispered "Come to the maintenance room at noon, that's when my shift ends. I can't tell you here."
He rubbed the bridge of his nose at the thought of another one of her "excellent" plans. "Fine, but don't waste my time."
The corners of Zaree's mouth twitched in an almost-smile and she stood up and left, her breakfast left halfway uneaten. Usually she was a good eater, but today she simply wasn't that cheerful Tholothian woman Crosshair had met. The cheeky glint in her eyes was gone, replaced by a weariness he hadn't seen before. After finishing his breakfast, Crosshair took a detour to the kitchen where he secretly stole some of the better rations for her to eat later. From what Zaree had told him about Lyle, he had always looked out and been there for her. Crosshair felt like this duty was now his for the time being… until Lyle returned, so he hoped. He wanted to help find her friend to see her happy again, he really did.
Tumblr media
As Crosshair showed up at the maintenance room at noon he was surprised to find a stranger spinning on the chair - a young human man with tousled brown hair and dark shadows under his eyes who was listening to the newest jizz tunes on his headphones.
"Who are you?" Crosshair asked with obvious distrust in his voice.
"I could ask you the same question. What's a trooper doing down here?"
"I'm looking for Zareena."
"Aw the little lady got caught up repairing the valves on boiler S43. Had to postpone her lunch break."
As a sniper Crosshair had learned to be patient and leaned against the doorframe, waiting for fifteen minutes. He had to show up for yet another medical exam right after lunch break so he couldn't stay.
"Tell Zareena I was here."
"Sure thing, clone!"
Crosshair rolled his eyes at the way the young man talked. He didn't like him, especially not that he smelled like deathsticks. He took the rations he had stolen from the kitchen with him since he had a feeling that the boy would eat them himself instead of giving them to Zaree.
Tumblr media
When Zaree didn't show up for dinner either, Crosshair became worried. Worry and uncertainty were feelings he hated more than anything and didn't exactly improve his mood. With a scowl on his face he went to bed that night, but couldn't fall asleep. Too many thoughts occupied his mind. He wondered what the Batch were up to. Why wasn't Zaree at dinner? What would his next mission be? Those were the questions that wouldn't let him catch any sleep. Around midnight, when he was about to doze off, there was a knock on the door of his quarters. He sat straight up, wondering who it could be. A new mission?
"Come in!" Crosshair looked in surprise as Zaree came into his quarters. "You have no authorization to be on that level. Please tell me you didn't steal another access card."
"Good evening to you too. And no, this time I came through the ventilation shafts. A great way to go places in this building that are protected by doors you need those cards for."
"How the fuck do you even know which room is mine? I never told you."
She grinned, the mirthful spark in her eyes had returned. "Lyle taught me some basic slicing. That's how I learned your CT number and then looked up your room. Easy."
How she stood in his room in a confident stance, hands on her hips made his mouth go dry. "You came here for a reason. What did you want to tell me?"
Zaree sighed and sat down cross-legged at the end of his bed. "First of all, I'm sorry I didn't show up during mealtimes when I said I would. I had to show that newbie around and explain everything three times because his only interest seems to be his kriffing music box. He works so sloppy and slow… I just hope that's only temporary but…probably not."
Crosshair cocked his head listening to her vent. "Some people just can't get the job done. That's what it feels like working with regs."
"Oh come on, not all regs are like this!"
He rolled his eyes in frustration at the mere thought of how the regs had treated him and his brothers when they were young and still as grown ups. "Now to the reason you visit me in the middle of the night. Y'know what this could look like to someone else. Young lady, visiting me at night…"
Zaree searched for the right words. "I- um oh I'm not here to-  I don't want you to think…" Crosshair enjoyed watching her stammer, a smirk forming in the corner of his mouth. "I told you at breakfast that I have a new plan." She was suddenly interrupted by the growling of her stomach which was loud enough for Crosshair at the other end of his bed to hear. He grabbed the flimsi bag with the rations he had stolen from the kitchen and threw it on the bed in front of her.
"Wanted to give this to you since lunchtime. Didn't trust your new coworker enough to leave it there for you."
"Aww that's so thoughtful! Thank you!" Her wide smile made him feel things he tried hard to suppress. As he watched her bite a chunk off the first ration bar, he wondered how her lips would feel on his - a thought that scared him so much he blinked to focus back on what she was saying with her mouth full.
"This facility has a prison. The thing is, Lyle never taught me how to slice into the registry. I need access to the data terminals for that."
"Those are…well protected. They scan your face for verification and alert the security if you don't have the necessary rank."
Zaree nodded. "I know that much. I can overwrite this standard protocol, which includes the face scanning. I need someone to keep watch while I'm doing this and you're my only friend right now…"
Crosshair sighed in exasperation. "Those reckless plans of yours will one day cost you your life. When do you plan on doing this?"
"Tonight."
He blinked once in disbelief. "Pulling a stunt like this takes days if not weeks to plan."
"Days or weeks are something Lyle doesn't have! We need to find him as soon as possible."
She took a small holoprojector from her bag. A map appeared as she switched it on, showing a floor plan with serval red markings.
"See those? That are all the security cams three floors down. The data terminal is right here." She pointed at a yellow marking, then pointed at a certain hallway. "There's the ventilation shaft. It can't be seen on any of those cams, but to get to the data terminal there is one cam that needs to be taken care of. There's a panel hidden in the wall. I can slice into the security system from there and disable it, and show the security personnel some old recordings. I need you to have my back there too."
"And how do you want to disable the cam without anyone seeing you?"
"The cam shows what's going on in the hallway in front of it, not what's happening right below it. I will sneak along the wall and disable it, slice the data terminal, you have my back, and we'll be out of there before you know it."
Crosshair grabbed one of his toothpicks from the small box on the shelf next to his bed. "You said Lyle has never shown you how to slice the prison registry. What makes you think you can do it without his help?"
"I need to try!"
He rubbed his temples at her determination and stubbornness. "Fine. Just be quick." He hated the idea of having to crawl through the ventilation shafts with her, but said nothing. She wanted her friend back, and being one of her friends himself, he should support her, he figured.
Maybe I'm not so bad at this whole "making friends" thing after all…
The mere idea of crawling through the ventilation shafts with Zaree made Crosshair uncomfortable, but actually doing it? Zaree crawled in front of him, knowing which direction to go. He tried to distract himself from the view of her backside in front of him, thinking about that little mission they were pulling off.
"We have to climb down three levels." she notified him. In front of her the ventilation shaft went down and with their hands and feet on its walls they managed to climb down without making much noise. Being a sniper, Crosshair was excellent at stealth. Snipers were supposed to be invisible and deadly, and crawling down a ventilation shaft undetected was one of his strengths. It was even easier wearing only his blacks, the plastoid of his armor would have made crawling quietly somewhat harder
Three levels down they crawled with the airflow until they saw light that came through a grid. Zaree grabbed her screwdriver from her utility belt to open it.
She looked both sides down the hallways.
"Clear." She left the ventilation shaft and held out a hand for Crosshair to take, which he accepted. Afterwards she put the grid back into place, just in case.
"Let's get moving." he said in a hushed tone. Everything was going according to plan. They sneaked along the wall. Crosshair had a single blaster in his hand instead of his rifle he kept trained on the doors, ready to shot in a milisecond's notice. Meanwhile Zareena opened the panel and plugged in her datapad, slicing into the system.
"Oh man, no military funding goes into that security system, that's for sure." she chuckled. She typed on her datapad for several minutes in which Crosshair grew more and more impatient, yet he admired her skills. The way she was so focused on slicing reminded him of his brother, Tech.
They would probably get along well.
"That's it! We should remain undetected for a few minutes until they realize it's an old recording they see on their screens."
The data terminal was in a transparisteel compartment by the hallway. It was semi dark in there, in their case a clear advantage. Zareena frowned as she plugged in her datapad and worked her way to overwrite the terminal's protocols.
"And…I'm in. Great, now let's check those prisoner data." she mumbled, completely lost in her work.
Suddenly one of the doors hissed open and there were steps in the hallway. Crosshair reacted in the matter of a second, pulling Zaree into the dark corner of the compartment, putting his hand over her mouth to keep her from making any surprised noise. Her datapad was still hanging from the data terminal. If anyone looked any closer they were screwed.
Two white armored TK troopers walked past, thankfully none of them paid attention to the terminal or the trooper who kept a mechanic against his chest. They didn't dare breathe until the other door swished open and the troopers were gone. They both let out the breath they'd been holding, only to realize how close they were to each other. The look in Crosshair's eyes was more vulnerable than she had ever seen him. It trailed down to her lips, and so did hers to his own. They could feel each other's breath on their faces. Just a few centimeters closer and their lips would meet.
"We should… my datapad…" she whispered and let her hands sink from holding his waist.
"You better hurry." Crosshair's expression turned from vulnerable to sour in the matter of seconds. He wasn't mad at her, he was mad at himself.
How could I allow myself that? This is wrong. So, so wrong! You're a damn soldier, Cross! Act like it!
Zareena groaned as she opened the files. "Ugh! Fuck! There's no name to the prisoners, only numbers. But their species might be added in the data. Hang on… There it is… Umm…They have no Mon Calamari in custody? That… can't be. Lyle…" Tears were welling in her eyes as she unplugged her datapad from the terminal. "He's not in custody and there are no records that he ever was." Her shoulders sank and tears were now running down her cheeks.
Crosshair hesitated at first then put a hand on her cheek, wiping her tears with his thumb.
"We'll figure out what to do next. But first we need to get out of here."
Zaree nodded, wiping the remaining tears with the sleeve of her dark gray overall.

Back in the ventilation shaft they climbed the rest of the way down to the basement levels where the humid air greeted them. In front of the maintenance room with nobody else in sight, Zaree suddenly jumped to hug Crosshair's tall frame. He stiffened at the gesture, but eventually wrapped his arms around her waist as well.
"Thank you for helping me out tonight." she whispered into his ear and kissed his cheek as she let go of him.
She caused a warmth to spread in his chest that felt like a natural cure to the darkness that lingered there. He was afraid of that new feeling, but it felt too good to not welcome it into his heart.
"Get some sleep, I'll see you at breakfast." was all he could say.
"Funny, I just wanted to tell you the same." She yawned symbolically. "Sweet dreams, Crosshair." With a tired smile she went into the maintenance room where she crashed on the cot that for some reason smelled like deathsticks, but Zaree was too tired to care for her new co worker's bullshit.
Crosshair casually walked back to his quarters and as soon as he shut the door behind him, he hit his head back against it with a frustrated groan.
What is she doing to me? I can't allow myself to be vulnerable.
Just like her, he crashed on his bed and fell asleep almost instantly, the next morning would come soon enough. In that short night he dreamed of deep blue eyes and a smile so bright it was a contrast against her brown skin. That spark in Zareena's eyes followed him into his dreams, and Crosshair felt as light as a feather. This was no spice dream though, no, those feelings were real. He feared that they could become as addictive as spice nonetheless. His rational mind told him to be careful, while his heart yearned for more.

a/n: He's catching feelings, and of course he doesn't know how to handle it! This is kind of a fix it fic because I wanna give Crosshair what he deserves: Love (and some good pussy later in the story) …and maybe a much deserved break lol

no one fucking gaslit you but yourself. I a! so goddamned sick of the tedbecca shippers appropriating the actual experiences of actual abuse survivors to whine about not getting the ship that was very clearly never going to happen, and acting like having yet another bland straight white couple is somehow groundbreaking television.
y'all write whole goddamn essays about how you're so oppressed by *shit that did not fucking happen*. it's fucking tedious. your sydcarmy ship isn't happening either and I hope you die mad about it too
all y'all are doing is exposing yourselves for thinking that a woman only exists as a whole for your fave fictional white men to fuck and I'm tired of the endless tantrums in the tags about it
sorry you're incapable of media literacy and didn't immediately get the incredibly obvious joke in the finale but that's a personal problem. congratulations you played yourself. next time don't brainwash yourself with gifsets instead of watching what the show actually does. goddamned immature brats
Ooh, chile, you shouldn’t have told me that you’re sick of us spamming the tag because I’m going to make sure to write even more here and spam it all fucking day, baby. Thanks for that. ☺️
Now on to your bullshit post:
1. No one’s appropriating anything. You seem like the person who believes that only army veterans can have PTSD. Newsflash: that’s false just like your understand how who can be effected by gaslighting is false—it’s broader than you believe.
2. I’m a fucking black woman, let’s not get into politics over shipping because you will lose regardless of race. The show is predominantly WHITE and to ship either of the leads with the black men on the show, which has canonically happened for a pairing, is problematic as fuck.
3. Whoever said they were fucking oppressed, you need to talk to them NOT me. However, I can criticize what I deem as POOR writing. That’s not oppression, that’s a grievance that writers can learn from in the future.
5. I have a fucking degree in CINEMA AND MEDIA STUDIES. The lowest grade I ever received on film and TV analysis was a B and that was because I was trying less than usual. I’ve been apart of film/tv and have been on the crew of independent movies—even got an IMDb credit for it. I was briefly an English major before switching to cinema and I’m currently writing a book, this is all to say:
I very likely watch tv (and film) more intently than you do and ever have. I break down character, plot, dynamics, tropes, themes, etc subconsciously and can recall small details and plot points that most people cannot.
I’m in the process of being a guest for a movie podcast, launching my own movie and tv podcast in a few months, and writing an article on the function of filler episodes in tv, both past and present.
So while my criticism is focused on a ship, it’s due to my intimate knowledge of tv, my education, and career path. The goal is to end up as a writer of movies and tv. Like, I’m true to this, not new to this.
I don’t give a fuck what you think is tedious. Bad writing is bad writing. It’s why Ted Lasso was shut out at the TCAs and will likely have very few or NO Emmy’s because the last season was terrible. The final episode doesn’t make any since even when you don’t account for Tedbecca. If you bothered reading that tedious writing, you’d know that. Don’t worry, I’ll write a post and flood the tag again.
The bantr reveal fake out does not make any sense if they never intended to AT LEAST explore ted and Rebecca’s feelings. That’s taking up important space in the narrative. We literally didn’t need it. Setting ted and rebecca up as soulmates regardless of it it was romantic OR platonic with NO pay off is BAD writing. Harping on their connection only for them to spend most of the season apart and very little screen time with ted being inattentive to rebecca in the last episode is BAD WRITING.
I’m sorry that you don’t know what bad writing looks like, but media literacy is being able to discern narrative consistency and how writing qualify influences that.
Part of the criticism of Tedbecca is that if it weren’t going happen, why were all of those unnecessary details there?
The other problem is that is was gaslighting because of how the writers, producers, and Jason interacted with fans. They led fans on, and Brendan was an asshole about the w tire thing during his AMA.
Like why in the fuck is Jason saying, “what if you had a crush on your boss” and invoking Nora Ephron? I don’t want to hear any bullshit about subversion when 1. The writing wasn’t good enough in the third season to subvert shit 2. Outside of shipper complaints, the show has fallen off hard in SM discourse. Went out with a whimper!
5. So wanting Rebecca AND Ted together means we think a woman only exists for our fave fictional white man? Mighty presumptuous of you to assume that Ted is my fave white man—that’s Mike Lawson and Fox Mulder. Even then, many who ship tedbecca are rebecca/Hannah stans and are actually pissed that her storyline didn’t involve therapy and focus on her professional life more. Hell, she didn’t even get adequate apologies from Higgins or one from Nate. The romance is only one of many ways the show has failed her and it has been discussed at length on Twitter. Please keep showing how you’re all assumption and don’t read or maybe you just lack comprehension skills. You’re the one exposing yourself here and lack the self reflection to understand that.
I suppose that’s hard when you have one brain cell. Don’t work it too hard!
We’re immature, but you’re sending anon hate mail to me because you’re upset. LOLOLOLOL!!! People have the right to complain if they want for long they want, get over it. The real immaturity is being unable to deal with the fact that people feel differently than you, not understand why (may be due to the one brain cell), and attacking us over it.
6. There’s no reason for me to be upset if SydCarmy doesn’t happen. While I do believe a foundation is being laid, The Bear can actually maintain high quality writing. So whatever they choose to do, even if it’s not marking my ship canon, I have confidence in the direction they choose to go.
7. Your head is so far up your ass that you think people didn’t get their pedestrian joke. Lol. You’re defending writing that, for TWO SEASONS, painted Jane as an abuser and that Beard needed to get out of their toxic relationship only for them to get a happily ever after that glosses over said abuse. Keep in mind that Jane fucking SHREDDED his passport.
Come get your clown make up kit, you’ve earned it, dear.
Because I want you to explain and justify THAT to me.
Let’s also breakdown Ted’s narrative arc, which doesn’t make a lick of sense and was changed in the third season.
Or how Jamie and Roy fighting over keeley was nonsensical.
And that Michelle’s ex was sabotaged narratively in the last ep and I don’t even like that dude.
Or how keeley and rebecca wanting to create and run a woman’s football league is random as fuck and has never been discussed, teased, alluded to, or anything else.
You think this is the first time a ship hasn’t happened for me? Hell, I’ve had one half of my ship did and they were CANON at one point. As a matter of fact, it was TWO ships only one canon and, for the latter, there was rampant RACISM going on behind the scenes.
Because I don’t know who else, if anyone else, you’re sending these anon messages to, but I’m very well versed when it comes to fiction and I don’t fuck around. I stand ten toes down in everything I say because it’s backed up with facts and careful thought.
So if you want to get into, we can get into it, but I guarantee you, you’ll be exposed as a fraud of who doesn’t know shit about fuck.
We can do this or not, the choice is yours.

Chronology: Season 1.
~~~~~~~~~~
A series of knocks on my bedroom door woke me up, making me pull on the sheets and bury my face in them.
"Five more minutes..." I weakly let out.
"The town can't wait five more minutes, [Y/N]." The masculine voice replied from the other side.
I sighed and kept my eyes closed for a few more seconds, before kicking the sheets away with a yawn. I sat on the bed and sleepily rubbed my eyes; it had now been around two weeks since I had started to work as a deputy alongside Bill, following his daily schedule, and that meant waking up early, at the same time as him. During these past couple of weeks, the town's situation had degraded, and the police force had been overwhelmed with complaints since the EMP had hit: it ranged from everyday trespassing to that one time we had to fix the broken water main on Ash Street that flooded a property. But despite all the work it required, I was glad to have integrated the force, to be able to help the town rebuild itself, especially with someone such as Bill by my side to help me.
I got up and walked to my door while half-asleep, still in my pajamas; stepping out into the hallway, I saw him walk out of the bathroom, looking just as sleepy as me. Taking a sidelong glance at him, I could not help but pick up on his sleepwear; at first, it was weird for me to see him without his uniform, but I came to get used to it over time. I had always believed in this myth that one never gets to see policemen without their uniforms, since they represent this figure of authority and power. But seeing Bill in a plain t-shirt and a pair of sweatpants took all of that away, and instead made him look soft.
Just as was I getting lost in thought, I saw him yawn and turn his head to me.
"Good morning." He greeted me with a smile.
"Good morning." I replied as I felt myself blush.
I waited for him to go back into his bedroom to make my way to the bathroom, after which I closed the door behind me. Since I had become an unofficial deputy, Bill and I had developed a common morning routine, which mainly consisted in me copying his. But as much as I enjoyed adopting his lifestyle, I could not ignore the fact it had been over two weeks since I had been living with him in his house, although it was originally supposed to be temporary, only until he would find me a truly suitable place to stay. I looked at myself in the mirror and shook my head as a part of me felt dumb.
I should have expected this case scenario to happen, considering how busy he's been lately, even more since Mitchell Cafferty has come back in town and caused a ruckus.
Pouring water into the palms of my hands I had cupped together, I washed my face, feeling the cold water waking me up.
I'm sure I must be bothering him at times... But he probably just never tells me about it.
I grabbed a towel hung on the wall and gently dabbed it on my face.
... I'll bring up the subject again with him when both of us will have time to talk about it, I told myself while staring at my reflection with determination.
Walking out of the bathroom, I made my way downstairs and joined Bill in the kitchen, who had already started to eat his breakfast. Pouring myself a bowl of cereal, I sat down in front of him and was about to bring the spoon up to my mouth when yet another yawn escaped my lips.
"Still feeling sleepy?" He asked with a chuckle.
"I suppose so." I replied, slightly embarrassed.
"Well, today's your lucky day to feel tired. Since the town will be busy preparing to celebrate Halloween, the workflow at the police station should be slightly calmer and easier to handle than usual."
I suddenly stopped eating and looked at him with surprise.
"I had completely forgotten today was Halloween..."
Hearing the news, a part of me began to feel excited; I had stopped counting how many years I had not had the chance to celebrate it, and spending it with the people of Jericho sounded like a good plan to me. With that thought in mind, I finished my breakfast and went back upstairs to finish getting ready. Once both Bill and I were ready to leave, we headed out and drove to City Hall. During the ride, I looked out the window and saw all the townsfolk preparing for the celebration, all over town: driving past decorated backyards and storefronts, the streets were looking the liveliest they had been since the bombings had happened.
A few minutes later, we arrived at City Hall and parked at our usual spot. As he walked up the stairs to the entrance, I looked around me, before turning to him.
"Bill, wait." I called out.
About to step inside, he turned around and sent me a questioning look.
"... Can I spend the day outside and help decorate the town and prepare for Halloween?" I asked bashfully, a shy smile on my face.
Following my question, I heard him chuckle lowly.
"You said yourself today should be calmer than usual." I quickly added. "And if you need me at any point for any reason, you can reach out to me, and I'll get to you right away."
Shaking his head slowly, he sent a smile my way.
"Sure, go have fun."
"Thanks a lot." I happily replied. "I promise I'll stay available if you need me."
Not wanting to waste any time, I headed off into town while waving to Bill. And so, I spent the day helping mostly everyone set everything up, going from one place to another: I eventually decided to go see Stanley and Bonnie, to check on them and see if they needed help with anything. But once I got there, I noticed Stanley was not on the farm, so I made my way to his sister; I approached Bonnie, but before I could ask her where Stanley had gone off to, she signed to me that they needed my help with something. She added that only a few minutes before I had arrived, Stanley had gone down to the station to ask for help there; chuckling, I signed to her that he went to town for nothing, since I was now here. We exchanged smiles and I helped her with her issue, after which I drove back to town and kept on helping others, all while running errands left and right, mixing work and leisure.
By the end of the afternoon, a few folks invited me to a pumpkin carving session, and I happily accepted their offer; carrying the pumpkin I had neatly carved, I brought it back to my car and put it in the backseat, saving it for later. I took a look at my watch as I closed the door, then looked up and around me: with nearly all the preparations in town wrapped up, the streets had emptied, given most of the citizens had gone back to their houses to either finish some preparations or to get changed into their costumes.
I should do the same, I thought as a smile took shape on my lips, after all, Bill hasn't contacted me in a while, so he's probably not drowning under work.
I took my car and drove back to his house to see if I could put something together with my clothes. But once back home, I went through my wardrobe and had to admit to myself that I had nothing that came close to a costume.
"I should've known..." I spoke sadly. "Even with all the clothes I had with me that burned down I couldn't have been able to put something together."
I got up and sighed.
"Hell, I don't even know what I'd dress up as..."
Hearing these words come out of my mouth, I suddenly came to think of an idea.
"I can dress up as an actual deputy sheriff, with the full attire." I thought aloud, a smile on my face. "It'd fit me, considering the job I've been doing for the past couple of weeks."
But my smile quickly shortened, as I realized something: the only way for me to bring my idea to life was to borrow one of Bill's outfits, and that meant entering his room and going through his things.
"... He probably wouldn't mind." I concluded after having given it some thought.
I stepped inside his bedroom and began going through his closet; as I had assumed, I saw multiple duplicates of his outfit and unhooked one of them. I carried it all the way to my bedroom and changed there, leaving my clothes on my bed. The second I was done putting it on, I could not help but laugh out loud at the fact that it fit me in the same way as it fit him, since I was about the same height and weight as him.
It suits me well, I thought as I looked at myself in the mirror, smiling at my reflection.
After I had slipped into my costume and was finished putting the last touches on it, I went back to town and parked near City Hall. I got out of my car and grabbed my pumpkin, putting it under my arm like a basketball: seeing the town had gathered in the streets and in front of the building, I made my way there.
"Oh, [Y/N]!" I heard Gracie call for me.
I turned in the direction of her voice and saw her walking toward me at a fast pace.
"You've finally been promoted to be an actual deputy! Congratulations!" She exclaimed while shaking my hand. "You know, I'm happy you've joined the force, this field of work really fits you well, sweetie."
"You've got it wrong, Mrs. Leigh." I explained to her with a laugh. "It's very kind of you to say that, but this is simply one of his Bill's outfits that I borrowed. It's my costume for the night."
"Oh, alright, then." Gracie nodded with a short smile.
To my surprise, it did not take long before I started receiving more comments about my costume, whether to tease me, compliment me on how clever it was, or tell me how well it suited me. After having chatted with mostly everyone, I walked up to Stanley, who was running a stand with Bonnie.
"Well, it's a nice pumpkin you got there..." He started, a playful note in his voice.
He leaned closer to my chest to read the name on my jacket, preparing to call me 'deputy [Y/L/N]'. But instead, he looked up at me with eyes expressing both amusement and confusion.
"... Mrs. Koehler?"
I gently hit him with my elbow as I smiled shyly.
"This is Bill's outfit, alright? That's all." I said while blushing and looking elsewhere.
"Right." He said unconvinced while nodding slowly.
I looked around me, turning my head from left to right.
"Speaking of which, have you seen him anywhere? I thought I'd find him out there with you guys, but... I haven't come across him since I got here."
"Hmm... Now that you mention it, no, I haven't."
I nodded my head gently as I took one last look around me.
"Alright, thanks anyway, Stan."
Leaving Stanley behind with a wave of the hand, I made my way to the stairs of City Hall and clutched my pumpkin closer as I stepped inside. Greeted by party noises, I started looking for him among the crowd that had gathered there: but when I realized he was nowhere to be found, I went up to Jimmy, who I spotted chatting with other people.
"Hey, Jimmy." I called out to him. "Do you know where Bill is?"
Jimmy replied to me by pointing to the door of the police station with his thumb.
"Alright, thanks."
Following Jimmy's indication, I took a few steps and looked inside the station through the glass door, and indeed saw him at the front desk, visibly working on paperwork, his usual coffee cup in hand and using only a lantern as a source of light. I opened the door very gently, trying to make as little noise as possible: walking inside, I began imitating ghost sounds as I played around with my pumpkin, but broke into laughter seeing the expression his face was shifting into. The moment he heard my voice, he looked up from the pile of paper in front of him, and I could read he was surprised to see me dressed in a deputy outfit, even more so his. I looked down at myself and smiled at him while blushing.
"What do you think of this ultra-realistic costume?"
Still standing behind the desk, he put his mug down.
"You dressed up as me." He said with his mouth slightly open, a smile transpiring through.
"No, I dressed up as myself." I chuckled. "I figured I'd make this deputy thing official. At least for one night."
Shaking his head gently, Bill began to laugh as well, before scanning me up and down.
"So, are we gonna play 'good cop, bad cop'?" He asked as he leaned against the counter.
"I'm down for it." I giggled lightly.
"Well, which one are you?"
"Which one do you want me to be?"
My words echoing through the empty room, we silently looked at each other in the eyes, but I could not help but look away after a few seconds. My eyes fell upon the pumpkin I was still holding in my hands, and I looked back up at him while raising it.
"And look who I brought with me!"
I set the pumpkin on the counter next to his lantern and he looked at it while laughing.
"I carved it this afternoon, and I figured I'd offer it to you to give you a bit of company in this big empty station."
I joined him in his laughter, but I also felt the tone of my voice changing a little; looking down at my feet, I looked back up at him a second later with slightly sad eyes.
"What are you even doing here all by yourself anyway? I was expecting to see you partying with the others when I stepped in... Aren't you gonna join them?"
He looked down as his smile shortened.
"Well... It may be Halloween, but it doesn't mean the pumpkins will do the paperwork for me."
I cracked a short smile, but it soon vanished, replaced with a more serious expression.
"Bill..." I started in a low voice, avoiding making eye contact with him. "Now that I've been in your shoes for over two weeks, I know what it's like being overworked and having little time to yourself."
I gulped as I could feel his eyes on me.
"You're a hardworking man, who gets things done, and you love your job, I know you do. But I also know you've been more tired than usual recently..."
I shyly looked up at him and instantly met his gaze.
"... And that's why I was thinking tonight's celebration was the perfect occasion for the both of us to unwind, and relax..."
Lowering my eyes, I felt a blush spread across my cheeks.
"... Together..." I whispered as I lowered my voice.
Silence reigned between the two of us, for what felt like an eternity, until I heard Bill clear his throat.
"Alright. You're right, I'll allow myself to finish work early tonight."
I looked back up at him with a warm smile.
"Give me just..."
He gently brought my right wrist closer to him to read the time on my watch.
"15 minutes, to finish this one paper, and I'll join you."
"You got it." I nodded, still smiling.
I started making my way back to the door but turned around, a hand on the knob.
"But no more than 15 minutes, alright Mr. Koehler?"
"Yes ma'am." He replied as we exchanged smiles.
I left the room and went back outside to go see the others again while I waited for Bill to finish. However, once the 15 minutes had passed, I saw no sign of him, and this time felt upset.
I'm sure he thought to himself 'one more paper' after he was finished with what was supposed to be the last one.
I made my way back inside the station and walked in by pushing the door wide open.
"I can't believe—..."
I suddenly stopped my lecture as I saw he was no longer behind the front desk, and all that was left was his stuff. I took a step closer, raising an eyebrow.
"Bill?"
"[Y/N]?" I suddenly heard his voice calling out for me.
I followed the direction of his voice, seemingly coming from the back of the room, and saw the prison cell at the end of the hallway, before realizing he had been locked inside. I quickly made my way to him with a worried expression.
"What the hell happened to you?"
"It's Mitch." He replied angrily.
Once close to the cell, I searched for the keys and found them on a stool nearby.
"Some of his guys came to bail him out." He continued as I was unlocking the door. "Gray went after him."
Before I could add anything else, he pushed the door open and made his way out of the room at a quick pace.
"I have to go see where they went and if they managed to catch him."
I had no other choice but to follow him, feeling my usual smile fade away. Once outside, we both spotted Jake and Gray further down the street, and Bill went to see them while I decided to stay behind in front of the building. I could not help but bite my bottom lip repeatedly while crossing my arms on my chest and continually tapping the heel of one of my feet on the ground. I stared at him from a distance, watching him talk, until he made his way back, looking more appeased.
"Things haven't gotten too outta hands, that's the good news." He started with a sigh. "Apparently, Gray had caught up with Mitch and his two friends, and was ready to take a shot at them, but Jake stopped him before he could fire, and told him the last thing Jericho needs in these times of crisis is a gang war we wouldn't want to be a part of."
He scoffed while shaking his head.
"And, frankly, I agree with Jake's decision, he made the right call."
Once he was done talking, I nodded my head rapidly.
"Alright. Well, we should head on back home." I spoke at a fast pace.
Not waiting for him to answer, I started to get in motion, taking a step forward, ready to walk away. But before I could take another step, he grabbed my wrist, making me turn around.
"Hey, what's the rush?"
I could see in his eyes that he knew I was not feeling good, looking down at my lips, bearing no smile.
"Bill, you..."
He got closer to me and let go of my wrist.
"Why leave now? You said you wanted us to enjoy the party together. So let's."
"But are you gonna be okay?" I asked as I looked up into his eyes with a hint of worry.
"I was only put inside a cell, [Y/N]." He scoffed while raising an eyebrow. "I wasn't hurt."
"But you could have been. They had a shotgun barrel directed right at you, Bill..."
"How do you even know they did that?"
"Because I know their type." I fired back. "And I know what they're capable of."
He stared at me, reading the worry and seriousness on my face, then looked down with a neutral expression before looking back up into my eyes with a short smile: I suddenly felt his hand on the top of my head, tousling my hair gently.
"I'm fine, [Y/N]. Don't worry about me."
My stern expression vanished as all I could now feel was his warm hand on my scalp, rubbing it tenderly; I gulped while blushing, then nodded at him. Smiling warmly at each other, we finally walked away from the building and went to join the others out on the streets. We did not have a proper dinner that evening, but since there were multiple and various food stands, we ate a bit of everything here and there throughout our stroll. We paid a visit to more or less everyone, and it warmed my heart to see Bill having fun and enjoying his night; as I was staring at him talking with Stanley and his sister, I felt a hand tap on my shoulder. I turned around to see Jake and Heather, both smiling at me.
"Oh, hey guys." I smiled back at them.
"Good evening, deputy." Heather teased me.
"Do you have something to report to me?" I joked.
"No, nothing serious." She replied with a chuckle.
Heather suddenly stepped forward and grabbed both of my hands as the look in her eyes felt somewhat sad.
"But, I wanted to let you know, [Y/N]... I was driving through town earlier today, and I drove past the remains of your house... and I couldn't help but feel sorry for you, and how it must have been a traumatic experience."
Taken aback by her words, my surprise was however instantly replaced with laughter.
"It's very sweet of you, Heather, but don't worry about me, I'm no longer mad at that fire." I told her with a sign of the hand. "I suppose it was just the town's way to make sure I was given a warm welcome."
Everyone standing around us who had heard my joke laughed, and Bill and I walked away from them as we waved them goodbye. As we walked, I could feel him silently look at me, and eventually gathered the courage to look back at him.
"What's up?" I asked him with blushing cheeks. "What's on your mind?"
"I've never seen anyone who's able to keep such a cool head in the hardest of times." He confessed while staring straight into my eyes. "I'll admit it... I've been impressed by that trait of yours ever since I first met you in front of your house."
I felt the blush on my cheeks intensify and my eyes widen slightly.
"It's impressive how you never let things get to you." Bill added with a charming laugh.
Hearing him compliment me in such ways, I could not help but look away from his eyes, keeping quiet.
"... Thank you." I eventually told him while shrugging lightly, a shy smile displayed on my face.
Shortly after our conversation, we noticed the party was nearing its end, so we decided to head back home, for good this time; the first thing I did once we had made it back was to step into the kitchen and serve myself a glass of something fresh to drink, before taking it with me to the living room. I took a sip while fanning myself with my shirt, then set my glass down on the table as I looked at Bill standing up in between the kitchen and the living room.
"D'you ever get hot wearing your deputy outfit all day long?" I casually asked him with my head tilted.
"That is one question that cannot be answered with words."
Turning around slowly, he revealed to me the back of his jacket, covered with a wide circle of sweat, in addition to spots around his armpits. I covered my mouth a little while laughing and he turned around to me with a slightly awkward smile.
"Yeah, I'm sweating bullets."
"So am I." I reassured him. "Starting tomorrow, I'll go back to my usual t-shirts and shorts."
We chuckled together as he started to make his way to the staircase.
"Speaking of which, I'm heading for the shower right now..." He told me while grabbing the back of his neck. "I'll tell you when I'm done if you want to take one as well after I'm finished."
I smiled warmly and nodded, then followed him upstairs to enter my bedroom. I closed the door behind me and changed into my pajamas, leaving the deputy attire I wore in my wardrobe, after which I stepped back outside. Opening the door back, I found myself in the hallway and rested my shoulder against the wall. I looked over at the closed bathroom door and listened to the sound of water running, when I suddenly felt tears coming up. Taking a deep breath in, I went back downstairs and made my way to the living room while shedding a tear: I sat down on the couch and buried my face in my hands as I sobbed, ever so softly. I kept on crying for a few more minutes, until the sounds of footsteps on the creaking staircase came breaking the rhythm of my cries. I immediately sniffled, trying to swallow back my tears, and rubbed my eyes. But I knew Bill had already spotted me and noticed something was not right.
"[Y/N]?" He called out to me, in a worried yet gentle voice.
Without looking at him, I felt him walking closer and sitting down on the couch next to me.
"... Are you okay?" He asked after a few seconds of silence.
"I didn't want you to see me like this..." I shook my head as I tried to maintain a voice as neutral as possible. "I don't want anyone to see me like this..."
I looked down at the ground, my eyes tightly closed.
"All those things you said about me earlier, my ability to keep cool and not be affected by things... It's all just a façade, it's what I want people to see... What I want you to see."
He rested a hand on my shoulder, which finally made me look at him. I realized he was shirtless, wearing only sweatpants in addition to a short towel around his neck, and I guessed he had just come out of the shower.
"[Y/N], it's okay for you to feel things, to feel emotions, any emotions." He told me softly. "You're free to cry, scream, or complain if you want."
He paused for a second before speaking again.
"... Why didn't you tell me you weren't feeling alright?"
"I don't want to be a burden you have to take care of, and I didn't want to distract your mind from your work, you already have important things—"
"Taking care of you is important." He cut me off in a firm tone before I could finish my sentence. "As much as anything else I'm doing."
Bill looked at me straight in the eyes and I could read sincerity and affection in them.
"... If not more."
Hearing those words, I broke into tears again, and he brought me into his embrace. We remained in the arms of each other for a good minute, neither of us saying anything; I rested my hands on his naked back and shivered lightly at the contact of some waterdrops still on his skin. Afterward, he pulled away and held me gently by the shoulders.
"Hey, why don't you go take a shower?" He suggested tenderly. "Warm or cool, whatever will make you feel better. That should help ease your mind."
I nodded in silence, then slowly got up from the couch: climbing up the stairs with me, Bill escorted me all the way to the bathroom, holding my lower back softly. Once inside, I undressed and turned the cold handle all the way, letting the water run down my face and refresh me. I did a series of breathing exercises while washing myself, then decided to stay under the stream a bit longer after I was done; turning the water off, I stepped back before drying myself and slipping into my pajamas again. I took a look at myself in the sink mirror and sighed while closing my eyes, telling myself how much of a mess I was. I then opened the bathroom door and took a step outside the room, when I suddenly saw Bill, standing up against a wall in the hallway. I was surprised to see he was not in his room, however, he had put a shirt on, so I deduced he had gone to his room before waiting in the hallway.
"Are you feeling better?" He asked me with tenderness.
I nodded while smiling softly at him.
"Thank you... For everything."
I looked down at my feet while blushing.
"You didn't have to wait for me, I'm fine... really."
"Well, seeing how you weren't fine 5 minutes ago, I wasn't about to let you off the hook that easily."
I chuckled and blushed just a little more: looking back up into his eyes, we exchanged smiles as we stood away from each other.
"Well, I hope you'll still be able to have a good night tonight." Bill said. "And if not, don't hesitate to come knocking on my door."
"I will, I promise." I answered him sincerely.
Although I knew deep down we meant what we had told each other, I could not help but feel a slight awkwardness in the air, leaving me with a bitter taste in my mouth; as if some things had been left unsaid.
"you make me question my faith" - osferth
Pairing: osferth x viking!reader
Word count: 1.2k
A/N: NO SPOILERS FOR SEASON 5 IN THIS FIC. Careful with posible spoilers if you comment. Inspired by a quote from fleabag i thought would fit the baby monk. I wavn't used any taglist bc i don't know if people still want to read my stuff🌼
Masterlist.
The breeze blowing through the river bank was enough to make a chill run down your spine, but not enough to make you walk back to the house. You knew Uhtred had posted Osferth and a few other men to guard the port today. And although the lord had told you not to bother them while they guarded the town, you also knew he would not really be mad if you went down to the river to talk to your friend.
You had known Osferth for almost your entire life. From Winchester to Cookham, you always seemed to find eachother again. When he left Winchester and the convent to run around playing warrior you thought that had been the end of your friendship with the young –and way too shy to be a real warrior– monk. But you found yourselves a year later in Cookham when you were traveling with your parents looking for a safer place to live.
And that process of finding your way back to each other continued, as if God himself had meant for the two to always stay close. And it was also the invisible string that pulled you to Rumcofa and your position at the end of the pier.
Scouting the area for your blond haired friend proved to be difficult with all the traders and merchants tying their boats and shouting about their goods. But a few steps forward you could spot him standing at the end of the wooden planks, one shoulder leaned against a pole that didn’t look stable enough to support much weight.
As silently as the creaky boards allowed you walked towards the man before you actually saw that his gaze was set on a book. Now close enough, you got onto your tiptoes to look at the text above his shoulder.
‘What would Father Beocca think if he saw you reading pagan stories.’ You exclaimed with a fake gasp of horror. ‘The heart attack you would have caused him!’
You could swear you saw the hairs at the back of his neck straighten with the fright you gave him. He tried to turn around as fast as his now developed warrior reflexes allowed him. But he stumbled and slouched towards the water dangerously, making you reach for him without even thinking twice.
With a huf he regained his footing and finally looked at you, with his cheeks getting redder by the second.
‘You! You scared me!’ He huffed, repositioning his robes and the book that miraculously was still in his grasp. ‘Why would you do that? I was distracted.’
‘Yeah, that was the entire point. You looked to be concentrating too hard on that book and not hard enough on protecting the town.’ You joked, gaining another bashful huff from Osferth. ‘But back to the point, you were reading about the pagan Gods. One would think I’m corrupting you, Osferth.’
Religion was never a problem in your friendship. You always appreciated the way your friend worshiped his God without forcing it down other people’s throats. And he seemed to tolerate that you happened to believe in a different set of deities.
He tolerated them even when you were children meeting behind the wall of the monastery – monks didn’t appreciate a pagan child running around in their sacred garden– and you threatened him with false curses and incantations.
‘You could never corrupt me, I know the path God wants me to follow.’ He replied, convinced and puffing his chest. Until a shadow crossed his face and his demeanor changed. ‘Even if it includes hurting people sometimes. I am sure he forgives me for that too.’
You smiled tightly remembering the countless nights your friend had spent fretting that he was heading to hell because of the things he did in battle. And you, in your wholy pagan belief, assured him time after time that he would absolutely forgive him, because his God was the one who set his path.
‘Of course he does, he would miss and incredible person in heaven if he didn’t’
Your last words gave way to a tense silence. In your numerous conversations on belief, the afterlife had been the hardest topic to approach. Because from a very young age you realized that if God was real, you would be going to severely different places.
But thinking about that heavy topic was not the purpose of your visit to the river bank. So you tried to lighten up the mood and bring back Osferth, who was now looking at the book with a deep frown.
‘You think I should become a christian?’ You blurted out with much second thought to the statement.
‘No.’ Osferth’s statement came quicker that you ever expected. ‘No, don’t do that.’
You could only muster a hum, trying to grasp the sharp meaning behind his words.
‘I like that you believe in a meaningless existence and fake gods…’ He carried on when no other words came from your mouth. You could hear the satire in his tone. ‘You make me question my faith.’
You swear all air left your lungs at that moment. The simple idea of Osferth questioning his faith felt weird and almost criminal. But you continued the joke anyway.
‘And?’ You asked, unable to hide your playfulness and your curiosity at the same time.
He took a big breath and looked up from the book, moving so quickly some of his hair fell on his eyes. You pushed to the back of your head his need for another silly bowl cut when you inadvertently pushed the blonde tufts of hair to the side of his forehead.
He smiled wildly, a cheeky motion he had developed the past few years probably by association with the rest of the Cookham squad. That’s when you knew you were in for a good laugh.
‘I’ve never felt closer to God.’ He replied with a solemnity that felt oh so odd at that moment.
You could not help but burst into a chuckle and even softly pushed his shoulder back. He barely budged, a testament to his now warrior-like strength but his entire frame shook with laughter. A few unsavoury expressions might have also been said at some point during the laughing fit.
Those are the moments that you lived for with Osferth, the deep hearty laughs about topics that everyone else might consider either too big or too minuscule to pay attention to. The moments that made you want to spend the rest of your life next to him.
But that conversation had also happened and he had been adamant that until the wars between danes and saxons calmed down, nothing would happen. He wouldn’t force you into a life of waiting around fearing for his life. And any try of telling him that you already did that even without a marriage, he shot them down.
You reached for the book on Danish lore in his grasp and took it from him with a fake annoyed gesture.
‘Then you don’t deserve to read about my Gods.’ You spoke vehemently before taking a few steps back and hiking your skirts up just enough to take off in a run. ‘So I might have to keep the book for myself.’
You stuck your tongue out like you did when you were children and started running for your life back to the town, book in hand.
You could hear his voice shouting and laughing from behind you, but you didn’t stop for anything. If this was all you could have until danes and saxons laid down their weapons, you would make the most of it.
friends (m.)
pairing: lee jeno x fem reader
genre: explicit sexual content | omegaverse | heat sex | unprotected sex | some name calling
words: 3.6k
don’t like don’t read :)
“Your heat’s coming up.” Jeno says, point blank in between bites of his apple. You just nod, taking a break from your notes to side eye him. It’s not odd for him to know intimate details of your life- you do make sure to keep him updated on your cycle just so that he can send you the notes for the days you miss - but it’s not exactly a common subject for the two of you. “Who are you spending it with?”
There are still 13 powerpoint slides for you to grind through, but you figure a small break won’t hurt. Might as well use the conversation topic for something good, aka a reason to slam your laptop shut. You turn to Jeno, giving your best friend your full attention, and take the iced coffee right out of his hand. He doesn’t protest. “No idea. Would call Jaemin but he’s ‘found the one’ or something, so I’ll probably just spend it by myself.”
“By yourself?” Jeno’s eyebrows shoot up to his hairline as if you’ve just admitted to committing a sin. It’s not like the concept isn’t unheard of, there’s a market full of toys to help you through it. “Isn’t that dangerous?” You shrug and take a sip of the coffee, offering him your smoothie in exchange. He takes a sip and then bites down on your straw. His entire face scrunches and he yanks his face away from the beverage. He pulls the straw up, inspecting the now soggy and dented object with disgust. “Fuck, what is this made out of?”
“Paper.” You huff a laugh out through your nose, taking your smoothie back. “And I mean, it’s not any more dangerous than spending your heat with the wrong person. Plus, my heats get kind of… intense.” If Jaemin sleeping for three days straight and limping after is anything to go by, both parties take the short end of the stick. You’d felt so bad after and apologized to him profusely, but he had just thrown you his signature dazzling grin and told you that drowning in pussy was exactly the way he envisioned himself dying. He definitely didn’t complain about the brownies you’d baked him as a ‘thank you’, though.
“Spend your heat with me.” The bold request has your brain malfunctioning, at a loss for where to even start reacting to his statement. You just stare at him, mouth opening and closing repeatedly while he returns the gaze earnestly. “Look, it makes sense, right? I know you better than anyone, and you already trust me. Plus if they’re as intense as I’ve heard they are, you need someone there.”
You frown, opening your laptop up and staring blankly at the screen just to avoid having to look at Jeno. It does make sense to have him there with you, and it’s not like he’s the worst person to have sex with. Plenty of people around campus have delighted in talking about their nights with Jeno, dreamily telling you how lucky you are to have him and falling deaf to your insistence that the two of you aren’t like that. Plus, you’re not blind and even if you’re not the cute couple everyone thinks you are, you can admit that he’s hot.
“Wait, hang on. What do you mean ‘heard’ about? What shit is Na Jaemin saying?” Jeno’s shoulders shake with his laughter at your sudden concern. “I mean, he didn’t say anything, but that was kind of the problem. He didn’t show up to practice for like a week and when he finally did, he looked like he’d been mauled. Coach had to bench him.”
Your heart drops slightly at hearing that Jaemin’s soccer had been affected. He hadn’t told you that. “Oh.” The guilt must show on your face because Jeno is quickly soothing you, making sure to tell you that they all found Jaemin’s state funny. “Okay, wait. Wouldn’t you have the same problem if you help me?”
“It’s off-season. So, what do you say?” Jeno waits for your response expectantly, eyes soft, curious. “You can say no, y/n. I don’t want to pressure you at all, I’m just letting you know that it’s an option.” “I’ll think about it.” And you do. A concerning amount.
You spend that night tossing and turning, trying and failing to shut your brain off. Worries about ruining your friendship and about hurting Jeno bounce around your brain no matter how much you try to stop thinking about it. What if something bad happens during it? What if you never talk again? And worst of all is your brain telling you that he doesn’t actually want you specifically, he just wants to be with an omega in heat. You’re just convenient.
That thought actually makes you cry and you wrap your blankets even tighter around yourself, sobbing weakly into your pillows. In an effort to distract your wandering mind you grab for your phone, opening instagram to find an influx of dm’s from Jeno. It calms you a bit, the messages ranging from cute dogs to absolutely cursed memes, and you smile softly at the reminder that he’s your best friend, and that he definitely cares about you. Biting your lip, you hesitate for only a few moments before typing out a “you can help”, hitting send before you can second guess it. You lock your phone and set it face down on the dresser, thankfully finding sleep as soon as your head hits the pillow.
It’s hot when you wake up, clothes clinging to your skin uncomfortably. Peeling your shirt off only gives you relief for a moment but then the sticky heat is back full force. You whimper in misery, trying to snuggle back into your bed for at least some comfort, but you find that the corner of your fitted sheet has come up, the rest of your blankets on the floor. There’s only one pillow near you and it’s soaked in sweat. You panic slightly, frantically yanking your sheets back onto the bed and trying to fluff them up as much as possible, only calming down once the bedding has been fixed to your liking. Only once you’ve settled down in the plushness of your blankets do you have a moment of clarity.
“Oh shit.” You shoot up and search for your phone, dropping it once before finally managing to open the correct app. There’s a few messages from Jeno that you don’t bother looking at, going straight for the ‘call’ button. He picks up on the third ring.
“Hello?” He sounds groggy, like he’s just woken up, and a flash of heat runs through you at the low tone. “Why are you calling me at 5 a.m?”
You manage to stop fantasizing about your best friend long enough to choke out the word “Heat.” It comes out pathetic and whiny and you pause to clear your throat, trying to keep a clear head as well. “I’m sorry, my heat came early and I wanted to call you but you can go back to bed, I didn’t realize-”
“Fuck, okay, I’ll be over in 10.” Jeno cuts off your rambling with a swear, some rustling in the background accompanying his words.
“Thank you.” You whisper, setting the phone down and curling up in bed, trying not to focus on how agonizingly slow the time is passing.
Jeno’s looking down at his shoes when you open the door, kicking idly at the door mat and fidgeting with the bag in his hands, though his head snaps up when he notices you. The smile on his face falters when he inhales, turns a little strained as he gets a taste of your heat, and you honestly give him props for the amount of restraint he has. It’s definitely more than you have, at least, because you’re on him the second he’s inside. He ends up sandwiched between you and the door, bag dangling precariously in one hand while he envelopes you in his strong arms. You don’t (can’t) do anything besides bury your face in his chest and whimper, knowing exactly what you want but being too needy and fuzzy to remedy it.
“Jeno, it hurts.” You whimper and lift your face to nose along the skin just above the collar of his shirt, finding that while the skin to skin contact helps, it doesn’t fully relieve the heat scorching through you, the dull ache screaming for Jeno to take you already. “Please…” He holds you closer to his chest, encasing you fully in his scent, and picks you up bridal style. “I’ve got you baby, don’t worry.”
Being around Jeno does help to ease your stress, but it also serves to make you needier. The warm scent that you’ve grown to associate with the man is stronger than you’ve ever smelled it and it’s making you lose your mind more and more by the second. You’re worried that you’re drooling by the time he sets you down on your bed. He pauses to drop the bag he’s holding on the floor, and then he’s on top of you, strong arms caging you in.
The first kiss is soft, chaste. It would be cute if you weren’t so fucking needy, but you are and it’s just not enough. Unsatisfied, you thread your fingers through his hair and tug, nipping at his bottom lip and tilting your head to the side to get a deeper angle. A groan rumbles in his chest and he returns the kiss with more intensity, trying to take control again. You don’t let him, even if every instinct in your body is screaming at you to just submit.
Jeno shifts on top of you, scooting so that he can fully lay down between your legs. You wrap your limbs around him on instinct, pulling him as close as you possibly can and- oh. The close proximity means that you feel everything when he grinds down, and the feeling of having him so close to where you need him has any semblance of control that you had draining out of your body. You gasp pitifully, annoyance clawing at you from the amount of fabric blocking you from what you want.
“Please,” You almost sob, tugging at his shirt while trying to grind your lower half against his, the pressure of his cock against your center making your eyes roll. Jeno pulls back to yank his shirt off and then he’s back, hands sliding down your body to your panties, tugging the fabric down as far as he can before he growls in frustration and just rips the fabric in half.
“Shit, you’re so wet.” Jeno moans in awe, breaking the kiss yet again to marvel at your pussy. “Bet I could just slip right in.” He drags his fingers through the slick on your upper thighs, eyes glued between your legs. You’re just about to complain when he finally presses his fingers into you. The initial relief has you moaning sweetly, though it quickly turns to impatient pleas for his cock. You clench around his fingers, reaching a hand down to palm over where he strains against his sweats.
“I need you to fuck me.” You beg, looking at him with what you hope is a convincing expression. “Please Jen, I need you.” “You have me.” He promises you, flicking his wrist faster, curling his fingers just right. “I’m right here baby.” It’s sweet, and under normal circumstances it would be enough, but right now it’s not what you need and the frustration has you on the brink of tears.
You buck your hips and try to arch up as if it’ll magically make him slip in, but Jeno remains as patient and controlled as ever. It’s too hot and every part of your body is screaming for him to fuck you, for him to claim you, and his refusal is killing you. “Alpha please, I need you.”
He absolutely snarls, pinning down your wriggling body with one hand around your throat. The other hand stays between your legs where it continues to strike pleasure into every single nerve ending you have, adding to the fire already coursing through your veins. “What you need is to take what your Alpha’s giving you. You’re not in charge here, okay?” With his face pressed so close to yours you have no choice but to make direct eye contact, staring straight into the most intense gaze you’ve ever seen. His pupils are blown out so wide that his eyes are almost black. Unable to tear your eyes away and as if in a trance, you find yourself nodding. The corner of his mouth quirks up. “Good girl. Now listen to your Alpha and cum.”
It happens almost instantaneously, as if his words were directly connected to a trigger, your body exploding just as soon as the words leave his mouth. Your entire body locks up, mind going blank as the immense pleasure takes hold of you, leaving you clawing at his back and screaming silently into the air.
The orgasm only serves to thicken the haze in your mind, clouding any thoughts that aren’t related to the Alpha above you and his cock. It takes a moment for your eyes to finally come back into focus enough to make out your surroundings, and you’re greeted by the sight of Jeno with his fingers in his mouth, sucking your essence off of his digits. You’re burning so hot, so much hotter than you think you’ve been before, and it’s hard for you to function. All you can think about is his cock.
“Please,” You beg, swatting at him weakly. “Alpha please, I need you so bad.”
There’s no way that Jeno isn’t being affected by the pheromones clouding the air, but he manages to appear unbothered, his actions rough but nowhere near as desperate as yours. He just laughs lightly at your begging. “Aww, baby needs me?” The rhetorical question is punctuated by a slap, his hand coming down on your pussy hard enough to draw a yelp from you, thighs closing on his hand in a conflicting attempt to relieve the pressure from the hit and keep his hand on your cunt. He laughs meanly and pulls his hand away, drawing back slightly to spit onto your already soaking pussy, rubbing the spit into your skin while he talks. “This pussy belongs to me, yeah? You’re mine now.” Jeno leans down, mouth at your neck so that he can bite at the skin. “That means that I can do whatever I want with you.” You can’t speak, can’t even begin to think about what you should say in this situation. He presses a kiss to your jaw before pulling back and uses his free hand to turn your head so that you make eye contact with him. “Tell Alpha what you need.” “Need Alpha in me.” You beg, plead, flipping yourself over onto your hands and knees and arching your back, presenting yourself to him. “Need your knot, need you to fill me up, breed me, Alpha please-” Your sentence is cut off by his cock slamming into you, the filthy sound being drowned out by his groan. You gasp in relief, breathy thank you’s leaving you with each powerful thrust he delivers. His cock stretches you out so well, makes you go dizzy with the relief of finally having him in you. Your elbows give out nearly instantly, your chest hitting the mattress, and Jeno takes instant advantage of the new position to pull your hips even higher into the air.
It’s so good- almost too good- and it leaves you drooling and clawing at the sheets. All you can focus on is how well he’s fucking you, how he’s going to fill you up so well, breed you like he was meant to.
You scream when he pulls out, alarm bells going off as your body instantly protests. It only lasts a second though, Jeno’s hands never leaving your body as he flips you onto your back.
“Couldn’t see you,” Jeno pants out, dropping a kiss to the corner of your mouth and pushing back in, returning back to the brutal rhythm he had before. It has your eyes rolling in your head at how fucking good he feels. “My pretty baby, taking everything I give her.”
He’s got you so fucked out that you don’t even realize your tongue is hanging out of your mouth until he pinches it between his thumb and index finger, pulling it out even more. “You love my cock, hmm? You love everything I give you.” The pad of his thumb rubs over your tongue, the sensation making your toes curl and tears slide down your cheeks. “Such a fucking needy omega, isn’t that right?” He tugs on your tongue, your head following his actions as he leads you into nodding.
Jeno laughs and lets go of your tongue, dropping his face down to kiss at your neck. He sucks mark after mark into your skin, licking over each one to soothe it after, until he finally gets to your most sensitive, vulnerable spot. Even just the feeling of him close to your mating mark has your entire body aching for it, your neck craning to the side and pushing into his touch. The leverage you get from your legs wrapped around his waist has him pushing even deeper into you and you can feel his knot at your entrance, not quite fully swollen but definitely getting there. It has you absolutely keening, the thought of being so totally owned making you desperate.The sweet drag of his cock along your walls paired with the absolute filth he’s spewing has your body locking up with no warning, your orgasm ripping through you. You arch off the bed, the action only pushing you further onto his cock.
“God y/n, fuck!” Jeno curses, slamming his hips into you with even more force, his knot popping into your entrance and forcing the neediest sound you’ve ever made to leave your lips. You desperately wrap your limbs around him, trying to get him even closer, digging your heels into his ass to push him further inside. He grinds his hips against you one, two, three more times before he shudders, teeth clamping down right on your sweet spot as he comes. Jeno seems to come forever, filling you up with delicious warmth, making your body purr in satisfaction. He finally comes down, having the clarity of mind to tip the two of you onto your sides so that he doesn’t crush you when he collapses. He still tugs you close, arm thrown around your body possessively, his chin resting atop of your head.
“Told you it was intense.” You laugh out, trying to break the silence in the room. The heat’s subsided for now, but you’re still barely in your mind, and you have no idea how long the break will last.
He huffs out a laugh, chest shaking against you. “I understand Jaemin now.” His hand pets over your back, sliding up to the back of your neck and scratching lightly at the skin there. “You alright?” “Mhmm, yeah. Perfect.” His fingertips press lightly against the mating mark, sending sparks shooting down your spine, and it has your head spinning. You try to adjust yourself against him in an effort to keep your cool, but moving has his cock shifting inside of you and you sleepily grind against him, not thinking. Jeno hisses and tightens his grip on you to keep you still, but the way he grabs your leg has him shifting inside of you and pressing against all the right places. Heat floods through you and your grinding turns more urgent.
“Ohgod,” You moan, finding enough strength to push Jeno flat on his back. Your body has a mind of its own and you find yourself bouncing desperately on his cock. His knot has you locked into place and you’re barely able to move, but you can still swirl and grind your hips against him, feel the delicious friction of his knot against your entrance. “Alpha, it feels so good.”
“Fuck, look at you. So fucking knotdrunk, hmm? Can’t get enough.” Jeno shakes his head, laughs in a way that’s meant to mock you but it comes out strained. His hands are heavy on your ass, squeezing and slapping to feel the way it jiggles, to feel the way you clench around him with every hit. You throw your head back and let him do as he pleases, losing yourself entirely in how full you feel, in how good his knot feels in you. He buries his face into your chest, moving one hand from your ass to play with your tits, his mouth wasting no time in marking the delicate skin up.
“Shit baby, gonna make me cum again.” His lips seal over your mating mark again in a sloppy kiss and that’s exactly the final push that you need, your eyes rolling back and your tongue lolling out as your cunt spasms around him, orgasm ripping through you almost painfully. Jeno groans as well, hand flying to your back to pull you as close as possible, and his knot pulses inside of you as you swear you feel more cum shoot out.
He shudders against you, tight grip finally relaxing, though he still keeps you anchored to his chest. You follow suit, collapsing against him. A tired moan leaves you and you let yourself relax, lips absentmindedly mouthing at his skin. His hand pets your back soothingly, touch heavy and sluggish, and the last thing you feel before you fall asleep is his lips on your forehead.
Genre: Romance, sad, angst, drama.
Summary: Hvitserk is going to leave you.
Warnings: Spoilers of Season 5 (5x03).
Drafts:
39: "If you leave now, we are done. You know it right?"
40: "You care only for yourself."
44: "You are acting overdramatic now."
He didn't seem alright like real. You could it inside his beautiful eyes. The eyes you loved the most. Hvitserk had something in his mind. He was bothered or confused. You couldn't say. All you knew was that it must be important. You had seen his like that only once before when his father died and the brothers were planning to avenge his death.
The eyes you loved the most even had something hid something dark inside them. You liked it when Hvitserk went darker than his usual self, but not like that. Again, you had confessed this darkness once more. When they executed king Aelle. When Bjorn Ironside bloody eagle-ed him.
You wanted to ask him what it was. What was bothering him all night. It had been there since the conflict between Ubbe and Ivar the Boneless, after Ubbe and Hvitserk sought peace between the Vikings and the Saxons, but they got back empty handed and beaten. After the conflicted Ubbe stated that he and Hvitserk were getting back to Kattegat. Of course you were following them.
You were following Hvitserk. The man who had had your heart since you were kids. After all the women he slept with, after Margrethe who married his favourite brother, he decided that it was time for him to settle down, like most of his brothers and what a better woman than you. The woman he adored and desired and who wanted him too. Hvitserk had promised to be the best man for you, to love you with everything he had, to protect and care about. It was even settled for you two to get married when you would come back from avenging Ragnar Lothbrok's death.
You stepped forward ready and confident enough to ask him what was going on. You didn't want to interrupt his thoughts, but it was clearly that he wasn't alright and it hurt you seeing him like that. It was breaking your heart. Probably it was because he didn't want to share it with you. You didn't want to be nosy but you couldn't help it.
"Is everything all right?" You managed to ask when you were some meters away from your man. His head lifted only a little bit, so he can look at you. Just when your eyes connected you knew the answer by yourself. No, it wasn't anything alright but you didn't know the reason. You couldn't understand what was wrong. But something there must be and he was like that. Maybe he was angry because the Saxons humiliated them in the eyes of your people. Or he was angry at Ivar because of the harsh word he exchanged with Ubbe.
"Why are you asking?" His voice came out like a whisper. His eyes left your figure and moved back on the starry night above England. It didn't seem very different from the one in your lands but also it wasn't the same. But there the night felt better under the eyes of the Gods.
"You don't seem alright." You spoke and took a seat next to him. Hvitserk didn't answer your words. You just saw the edges of his mouth to list only a bit before they fall again. It wasn't one of his playful smirks you loved to watch. No, this was far more different. You eyed stayed on his figure waiting for a little movement of his if not a word.
"You know me so well." Was the only thing he managed to share with you.
"I'll take that as a yes to my previous question." You spoke and took your eyes away from his large, muscular figure and placed it back on the stars above your head.
"I am thinking whether it's right to go back to Kattegat or not. There are just so many things for us here. We have to avenge them for make us seem weak. The Saxons should come to us offering peace not us to them. After all, we are the ones who are victorious right now. That's what me father would want us to do. To stay and fight and beat the Saxons." His voice was normal now, but his words were not. You looked at him with your mouth opened. That was it after all. You shook your head trying not to believe what you had just heard from Hvitserk. From Hvitserk out of everyone.
That was definitely what Ragnar didn't want. You had heard tons of stories and he wasn't just a man hungry for war and more power. No that wasn't him. He wanted to travel the world, to get to know new people, to make the life of his people better. At the end of the day his vision was the one Ubbe was trying to accomplice. Ubbe was talking about that vision. About farming and stuff and it was encouraging to know that you were fighting for this and not for an ambitious hungry for power man.
"Those are Ivar's words." You were trying to keep your tone stable as you were speaking to him. You stood up from the ground. "That wasn't your father's dream. He didn't seek power." You crossed your arms in front of your chest. "You know that Ubbe is right. We should have peace with Saxons not an endless bloodbath." You voice was a bit louder than before.
"You don't understand (Y/N)." Hvitserk stood up too and was closer to you.
"Don't tell me that this is what you are thinking! To stay here and get killed for no actual reason!" You were yelling now. You turned your back on him and looked at the ground. Well, that seemed like Hvitserk, but at the same time it didn't. It felt like he was doing it for fame and ambition and power, but that wasn't him. Hvitserk son of Ragnar had never cared for those stuff.
"You are acting overdramatic now and out of yourself (Y/N)." He said and his hand moved on your shoulder. As long as you felt his touch you moved your skin away from him and turned to look at him.
"No, I am not! You are fucking acting like you care only for yourself which you do!" You were so mad that you wanted to cry. You felt the tears burning yours eyes, but you wouldn't let them fall. You had pride. You wouldn't let him know that he could make you cry like that. You would cry to yourself only and then curse because you felt weak and miserable in the eyes of the Gods.
"I am not! I am doing it for my father! For my family! And for my people!" He yelled back and run his hand though his braided hair.
"Which family are you talking about? Huh? About Sigurd? Your brother who was killed by Ivar in front of your eyes? Ivar is destroying your family! He does all this due to his insatiable hunger for power! Ubbe is right. We should go back home." You felt like you didn't know him at all. This wasn't Hvitserk. He wasn't the man you had known since you were children, the one you fell in love with. No, he was a stranger who looked like your man.
"This has nothing to do with Sigurd-"
You didn't let him finish. You turned your back not only out of your untameable anger, but also because of the tear who was streaming down your cheek and you didn't want Hvitserk to see it. You didn't want to seem weak. Not now. Not ever. If you remembered only one of your father's words, that you be that you should never be weak or let other people see that you are. Your father was a tough guy and an even tougher warrior. He taught you how to be a fierce shieldmaiden. And for this you would never let him down.
"When you talk about family, it does. And you know it better than me. You were there when he threw the axe at him. When Sigurd died. I was there and I remember what I saw." You spoke calmer when you wiped away the tear and turned back to face him. You were shaking your head again as you were looking at him. "Just know that if you leave now, we are done." With that you were about to start walking to somewhere. Anywhere. Just a place for you to be alone, cry and think. Both at the same time.
"Leave?" Was the only thing he asked as you made a single step away from him. Hvitserk didn't try to make you stay. To grab by your wrist or your clothes or any other part of you or even to stop you. He did nothing, he just asked that.
"I mean me. Because if you choose to stay, means that you are leaving me. So I am just stating the obvious." You heart broke in million-maybe trillion-fucking pieces so damn sharp that it cut all of you. It's one of the pieces were stabbed deeper inside you.
"What if I choose to stay and tell you to stay with me?" His voice was soft, nothing like it was some minutes before while both of you were yelling to each other.
After this question and the way his voice made it inside your ears you couldn't help yourself to keep the tears away from your eyes.
"I'm afraid you know the answer." You own voice was even softer. You barely could hear it.
Indeed Hvitserk knew. You wouldn't stay. It wasn't like you didn't love him, you did and it was stronger than you could bear, but Ubbe was right. This was the only way to save Ragnar's dream and it wasn't this thing here.
Before you know it, before you could even try to leave again, his strong hands wrapped around you waist and pulled on his warm body. He was hugging you tightly. Like his life was depending on this hug. Like if you stopped right at that moment, he would die or something. You wrapped you own hands around his torso and closed your eyes firmly. Some tears managed to escape from your eyes, but at that moment you didn't care. All you cared about were those strong hands around you and the warm body that your own was touching.
"I love you so much, (Y/N). You know it, right?" You heard Hvitserk saying and you opened your eyes. More hot tears left your eyes and were on your cheek.
"I do know it. You know how much that I love you?" The moment you asked was the one his hands left your body and your own wiped the tears. His hands made it on your previously wet cheeks and they caressed the flesh there.
"I know."
That was the only thing he managed to say before his lips fell on yours and kissed hungrily and passionately. This one was a kiss that you had shared not alike before. The best kiss you had had so far. His tongue was playing a crazy game with yours inside your mouth. Your own hands were on his broad shoulders.
You didn't want to admit it, but this one felt like a goodbye kiss. Like the last kiss between two lovers who their bond went up in smoke. After all, all the epic love stories didn't end up well.
When you pulled apart, his hands on your waist kept you close to him, as both of you were trying to catch your breath. His forehead touched yours. His eyes were looking your own.
"Go rest now. We have a long journey tomorrow, my love." He said within some breaths. You just smiled and went for rest as he said, replaying over and over that kiss inside your mind.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
"Look at you! Trying to sneak away to avoid your shame! Surely you must be embarrassed that nobody else is with you! Now, why is that? I can't understand it, can you? Ubbe, nobody is with you! Everyone is with me!" Those were the words of Ivar you heard as you were preparing to go back home. Hvitserk was on board with you and Ubbe.
You didn't expect to him to be here. Not after the previous night. Not because of this morning. The look on his face. His eyes. He looked the same as the previous night. The night you fought, you kissed, you said goodbye when the next morning seemed like you didn't. Ubbe hadn't noticed, but you did.
Well, he didn't notice until Hvitserk's gaze met his happy one.
"Let's go!" You heard him Ubbe say smiling, but the smile dies when he looked at his younger brother. Along with you, or Ubbe knew and Hvitserk hadn't told him like he had told you the previous night.
Nothing had to be said. Just the look on their faces. The look on Hvitserk's face. The way he looked at Ubbe before he betray him. The way he looked at you before he leave you for good.
If you leave now, we are done for good.
The previous night you told him something like that. The same words came to your head. You had to be strong even now. Even at the moment he was about to abandon you-the woman he loved- and Ubbe-the brother he loved the most.
Your eyes on his were pleading him to stay, but he wasn't going to. And you knew that for good when he turned his back on Ubbe and you and jumped off the ship.
Ubbe didn't turn to look anywhere else as we were leaving the coasts of England. He was watching Hvitserk next to Ivar. Then he turned to you. You were looking at the same direction he was looking at just seconds ago.
Tears were in your eyes but this time you wouldn't let them fall even if you were all by yourself. Hvitserk had abandoned you for good and this couldn't change.
