JATP Season 2 Wishlist
that i wrote in my notes app back in:
Tumblr media
and realized i never posted it here? tbf i'm rarely on tumblr. but because i really miss them rn i want to share my ✨ brainrot ✨ that i had back when i thought they were getting a renewal.
Carrie Wilson
she was my biggest flaw in Season 1. I wish her "redemption arc" is fleshed out more in Season 2; give her either more context & backstory to validate her reason for unnecessarily antagonizing Julie, or screentime to properly address how she's just projecting an emotion completely different into bitterness and anger into Julie's recovery
show particularly her earlier dynamic w/ Flynn and Julie? Maybe as Flynn calls her out, we'd get flashback glimpses prior to Rose's death (maybe even Double Trouble temporarily being Triple Threat 👉🏽👈🏽)
for some reason i'm picturing a scene where she's in her dance studio (she has one in their mansion, of course) practicing some of her Dirty Candy routine when she keeps messing up and not in the right mindset to keep dancing. i feel like the best (maybe easiest but whatever) way to guide the audience into her artist mind is to make her be a perfectionist. in frustration, she blows up for a minute before slumping onto the ground and reminisces her fun times with Julie & Flynn
also when you have her develop, please don't make her lose her femininity and the bubblegum pop music, it's great
Old Songs Resurfacing
it'll prove how detailed & thorough you are as a screenwriter if you pay off the songs mentioned in Season 1 in passing to be actual songs in Season 2
Unreleased: Get Lost, Long Weekend, Crooked Teeth, My Name is Luke, and if that riff from the scene in EP. 5 that spurred on the Bobby reveal isn't from one of these songs, add that too
Demo Album: Late Last Night, Lakeside Reflection, In Your Starlight
Willex
imagine your queer couple gets to have their first kiss first than your het main couple, not only will that settle Madi & Charlie's statements about being uncomfortable in doing a kissing scene and maintaining the priority of Juke's emotional over physical relationship, it would also make an powerful statement
Reggie's Character Arc
i know that he initially had an arc that involved a romance with Flynn but because of the ages of who they casted, they scrapped it and didn't have time to rewrite the scripts for him as filming neared, so they have time to adapt to how jeremy portrayed him for season 2: a lovable dork who craves familial love
since there's a possibility that lifers can now see the boys, maybe some found family trope for Reggie and Ray Molina?
he has pretty much formed a parasocial relationship with him at this point
so why not instead of a love interest, Reggie can have his character arc develop & we see his family before thru flashbacks and paralleling those in the current times because he sees Ray as a father figure
picture this: it's raining, Bobby opens the garage door to the sound of knocking, the boys find Reggie soaking wet and out of breath when he tries to say he doesn't know where else to go then the boys immediately figure out another fight in the Peters household happened. Reggie tries to talk again when Alex (because even though they're the airhead-sarcastic duo, they know they love each other) runs up to hug him and tells the other he doesn't have to say anything
cut to a freshly showered Reggie, quietly watching tv with Bobby, Luke, and Alex in the garage, eating whatever
also a solo acoustic country song, pls. just to make him happy
The Aftermath of the Deaths
for both the boys and Rose
we get parallels about how Bobby dealt with trauma and grief to Julie
like, the reason why the clothes are still in there (are to have costume changes for the boys) is because Bobby immediately moved out of the house (therefore also the garage) and left the clothes there because he couldn't bear to burn it, or visit the boys' houses to break the news to their families and return the clothes, or donate it somewhere so he just...left it. it would make for a more solid reason (for costume changes) and an emotional context as to how Bobby really tried to forget them because it was "easier."
it would also make sense why Carrie and Julie ended up friends. Rose probably was there for Bobby when they discovered what happened at the alleyway, so they stayed friends over the years and had their respective families but still kept in touch, (bonus points if absolutely nothing romantic happened between them! yay to normalizing platonic male-female relationships) and why Rose would immediately think of Bobby's three late bandmates to send for Julie when she was on her deathbed
Bobby never really "moved on" (because grief is a really complex thing). it's showed that he has a therapist and everything, and this could definitely have some aftereffects on his daughter. Carrie growing up seeing her father be this amazing rockstar but a negligent father and only showing love in ways she doesn't need (like riches and fame and connections to the music industry) because he's actually a really lonely man on the inside and no one can see that except for Bobby's spouse and Carrie. it'd explain why Carrie is spoiled, and other negative character traits that Carrie has on the surface
it's even why Bobby changed his name to Trevor: 1) Bobby is so closely associated to Sunset Curve and it's an absolute pain to be reminded of that every day, 2) it's a stage name and artists really do get that
More Worldbuilding
they already had some pretty creative concepts/ideas in the first season, so why not expand/expound on them a bit more
the instruments are attached to their souls that's why the boys at first can only touch them, like how Willie's skateboard and helmet are attached to him
which is why when they attach themselves to the world of the present, they gather up energy and focus on touching tangible things like the picture frame
this may follow the logic toward the end where they are finally able to touch Julie because she has become attached to their souls. emotionally.
More Creative Collaboration
i believe in the principle that when a story is finally released/published/told to the world, the world shares it. this is also visible in film/tv where when the scripts are finished and actors receive them, the story becomes part of theirs to work on. which means that they have some sort of autonomy over their characters' motivations, a chance to be heard of their ideas and pitches, and why some certain scenes wouldn't work, etc etc. it doesn't just become the director's story nor the screenwriters'.
the actors' ideas such as Perfect Harmony and their solos from Nothing to Lose are great because they let them in. they took risks, and it paid off incredibly well. more of that please. have them be a part of the writing process, (also the story), but never forget what made the music production great in the first place. be coherent and don't be like others that let too many hands work on one piece—it will lose its sound, its identity.
Julie Knowing
that Nick is possessed by Caleb. ohmygOD. hear me out.
the same S1 ending will play somewhere in 2x01, but it will be revealed that Julie was watching through the window the entire time and when she opens the door to receive the flowers, that last look she gives him is actually her scheming.
determined to get Nick back, imagine The Promised Neverland's level of mindgames Julie could play with Caleb because we already know our girl's smart
Free Willie Willie's Freedom
since the boys feel indebted to Willie's help, they insist on helping him too with getting rid of Caleb's stamp
maybe through his connection with Alex? or maybe Willie's family or friends who are still lifers (which is unlikely but either way). he needs to be saved !!
Song Sequences Ideas
juke counter melody duet like Rini's "Even When/The Best Part," Shane & Mitchie's "Wouldn't Change a Thing," or dodie & Jon Cozart's "a love song/a non love song"
emotional carrie ballad paired with lyrical hiphop choreo
willex song - i absolutely have no idea where this could go directionally but maybe alex on an acoustic guitar with a really soft sweet tune
reprises of S1 songs but in the complete opposite of their original style (the fandom's lonelier All Eyes on Me version, i see u)
nick guitar solo - just because Sacha actually plays, idk how it'd fit in to the plot yet but hey
Nothing to Lose (Reprise) - back in the '90s, a producer manipulates Bobby to sign a record deal to become a star but on one condition: disassociate himself with Sunset Curve, to which he first declines until he slowly gets persuaded. (sort of like Todrick Hall's So Lucky to Be You meets Lyn Lapid's Producer Man)
"So how about it, Bobby Shaw? Do we have a deal?"
"Trevor."
"I'm sorry?"
"Call me Trevor Wilson."
i'm pretty sure someone made an animatic with this idea too but i cannot for the life of me find it !!
7. Season 2 starts the same way as Season 1 does before the opening song plays
Black screen that reads a text "Hollywood 1995"
a pan down to the Orpheum's overhead sign that reads "SUNSET CURVE SOLD OUT"
cut to the interior with Rose finishing up her cleaning when a stage manager calls out: "Sunset Curve!" to which Bobby abruptly stops his pacing back and forth to look up. he and Rose look at each other. music swells until...
cut to him running onto the alleyway, "are they still not finished eating? those gluttons are dead to me i swear—" he cuts off his own words when he sees the boys getting dragged onto stretchers. but we, the audience, don't see it. just a close up of bobby as the ambulance lights reflects his face. rose comes up behind him, still clutching their t-shirt.
[i honestly have no idea if Bobby should get on stage because it just proves Luke's theory of The Orpheum's opening bands eventually becoming big & successful so it'll explain the Trevor Wilson fame even though at first he only did it for the boys, or if he shouldn't because according to the article Julie googled he ran away immediately after they were pronounced in the scene] but either way, this is how the opening starts.
then it progresses to Rose and Bobby respectively having children so they could parallel each other blah blah
8. Julie plays a simple song on the piano while the guys watch her in awe
Storytelling through Props
let's dive deep into Rose's luggage/suitcase and use the props to head for Julie's emotional attachment with them
they already did it with the wardrobe: Rose wears the black leather vest in the pilot while Julie wears the same thing in EP 6
add depth to the characters' relationships like us finding out Julie's multilayered necklace is actually a gift from Carrie or something
SOYON ANN YOU'RE A GIFT FROM GOD. Bobby's necklace is present in both young and old!him
**Rose in flashback scenes should be wearing clothes we've already seen Julie in Season 1 just for greater effect.
The Bobby Conflict
definitely needs to be brought up again by Season 2; they only discarded somewhere in the middle because more pressing matters like the boys' existence blipping away was pushed to the forefront of the story
however, The Bobby Conflict changes. it'll be cleared up that he was offered a record deal as a solo artist by a manipulative producer. and given that the poor boy is only 17 (too, maybe), he agrees. what he doesn't know is the contract's fine print: giving up Sunset Curve's royalties
that information clears it up to the audience and the band, so the conflict becomes this: Bobby's Survivor's Guilt. god wouldn't that be so good tackling that in a kids'/family show.

This went in a direction I didn't expect. I hope you enjoy it. 😊
~•~
Y/N paced the room, her eyes drifting back to her spur of the moment purchase, thinking it would be fun. She'd always wanted to dress up in matching Halloween costumes. And what better time to do it than during Weasley's Wizarding Wheezes annual Halloween party. She and George had been dating two years, and she finally felt confident enough to bring up the idea.
Or so she thought.
She'd just finished reading The Difference Engine and had developed a bit of an obsession with the whole steampunk genre. And then when she saw the matching steampunk costumes while out in muggle London earlier that day, she didn't even think twice.
Maybe she should have... Ugh, me and my stupid impulse buys.
Y/N'd told him about the book while she was reading it, and he definitely seemed curious, but they hadn't really discussed it beyond that. She sighed and flopped down on the bed, debating if she should return them or not.
What if he already had something else in mind? Or what if he doesn't like his costume?
It was a bit extravagant. Velvet and brocade. And leather. Her eyes drifted over to the trousers. Skin-tight, black leather that promised to show off his incredibly endowed... manhood.
Y/N face burned red hot just thinking about it. Then, she blushed at herself for blushing.
This is ridiculous. I've seen George naked plenty of times.
And yet, something about seeing him waltzing around in those pants sent a shiver of excitement down her spine and straight to her pussy. She exhaled a deep breath, fighting the urge to shove her hands down her panties.
~•~
"Is something wrong, love?" George asked. "You've been really quiet all evening."
Y/N sighed. Of course, he would notice. He always notices. "No... well, kinda... I don't know." She took a sip of her wine. "It's really stupid."
George shifted so he could put his arm around her. "It can't be too stupid if it's bothering you so much," he coaxed. "Whatever it is, you know you can tell me."
"I know. It's just... Godric, I feel like such an idiot," she stammered. "I just... I want us to wear a couple's costume for the Halloween party."
George blinked. "That's it? A couple's costume? That's a great idea, love! I'd love to do that!"
"Well, yeah," Y/N began with a nervous grin. "But I haven't told you what I have in mind."
~•~
Everyone at the party either wanted George or wanted to be him. He spent the evening prancing around, quite obviously proud of himself, while at the same time making it exceedingly clear that Y/N was the only one who got to play with the goods.
"I think you might've made a few enemies tonight," he whispered in her ear as they stood at the door bidding everyone farewell.
"Oh well," Y/N shrugged. "Not my problem."
George chuckled. "So, you don't mind that countless party-goers are going to fantasize about me tonight?" He asked with a smug grin.
"Let them fantasize all they want," she said, blithely waving goodbye to a woman whose eyes barely moved from George's crotch all night. "I'm the one you take to bed every night."
"Indeed you are," he smiled. "And I don't plan on that changing in this lifetime. Or the next."
~•~
"Did you enjoy yourself tonight?" George asked as he unlaced her dress. He'd already undressed down to everything but those deliciously sinful pants.
"Very much so," she grinned. "This one's going down in the books as my favorite Halloween yet."
"I'm glad. I just want you to be happy," he said. "And perhaps a little bit naked." The last lace loosened, and her dress fell to the floor, leaving her in a corset and much to George's surprise and delight, a pair of crotchless lace panties.
His already prominent bulge grew even more prominent. "You look so hot in that corset," he mummered, pulling her close and rubbing his erection against her. "I've been thinking about fucking you in it all night."
"I think that can be arranged," she grinned.
"Good," he said, leading her over to the bed. "Lie down, my sweet, and spread those pretty legs of yours."
George knelt down, tracing the outside of pussy with his finger. "So pretty," he smiled up at her before burying his face between her legs and taking one long lick from bottom to top, drawing out a breathless moan from her lips. He smiled into her cunt and continued on, using his thumbs to gently open her folds wider. He started with slow licks, his tongue roaming over every delectable inch of her, lapping up her juices. Y/N's soft breathless moans grew louder. "Oh, fuck, George!" She bucked her hips up and her hands clawed at the sheets.
"You look so fucking hot right now. You like what I'm doing, kitten?" He cooed, watching her writhe and squirm while he slowly pushed a finger inside her as his thumb teased her sensitive nub.
"That feels so good, baby!" She moaned.
"You want more?" He teased.
"Please," she gasped, pulsing around his finger.
George grinned and inserted another finger, curling them both into her g-spot. Her reaction was so intense that he thought she might start levitating and his cock throbbed painfully at the pure, primal pleasure she was experiencing. He increased the speed of his fingers, pumping in and out of her juicy cunt, driving her closer and closer to her orgasm. Y/N curled her fingers into his hair, pushing him back down. He knew exactly what she needed and he gave it to her, sucking and licking her clit, all the while still fucking her with his fingers.
"Yes, George! Right there!" She screamed as her body convulsed in ecstasy. George damn near came at the sight.
"Damn baby," he admired. "You are so beautiful when you cum."
Y/N smiled, still laid spread out across the bed, trying to catch her breath. "And you look like you're going to burst out of those pants at any moment," she teased. "Come up here and let me take care of that."
A big, goofy grin spread across George's face, and he crawled up to straddle her. She palmed his twitching erection through his pants before unzipping them and pulling out his cock, stroking its full length. A sigh of relief escaped his lips, and he closed his eyes. "Fuck, love, that feels incredible." Encouraged by his praise, she sped up her ministrations, making his hips buck uncontrollably, his soft groans grow louder.
"I wanna taste you," she said, aiming his dick toward her mouth and licking the precum dripping from his tip. "Fuck my face, baby."
George looked down in surprise, even as his already painfully hard cock grew harder. "Are you sure you’re ready?"
Y/N nodded. He'd been training her to deep throat, but she was still pretty new at it. "Georgie, I've been drooling over your cock all night. I'm beyond ready for you to shove it down my throat."
With those words, his dick went from dripping precum to spewing a steady stream that Y/N continued to happily lap up.
"Ok baby," he said, already pushing his cock into her mouth. "You know what to do if it gets to be too much." Again, she nodded, reminding herself to breathe through her nose as he slid into her, only gagging once his tip hit the back of her throat. George instinctively pulled back a little, but she grapsed his hips, holding him in place. He watched her with a mixture of desire and concern, waiting for the sign to pull out or keep going. Y/N's hands moved to his ass, giving it a gentle squeeze. He nodded once and slowly began pumping in and out of her, his eyes never once leaving her face. After a couple of minutes, she squeezed his ass again, and he picked up his pace, throwing his head back. "Fuck yeah," he moaned.
Y/N's eyes watered as she took him deeper, loving the feel of his balls slapping against her chin while his unhinged, animalistic moans reawakened her own need. She slid a hand down to rub her pulsing cunt just as his hips began to stutter. "Fuck, I'm gonna - " he groaned and pulled out, spurting his seed all over her crimson brocade corset.
After a few moments, he sat back and gazed down at her stained garment with pride. Then, looking up at Y/N, he gave her a sheepish grin. "Sorry, love. I've been fantasizing about doing that all night. Just couldn't help myself."
Y/N giggled, shaking her head. "You're so silly, Georgie," she said. "Though, I have to admit, you did look damn hot cumming all over me like that." Her eyes trailed back down to his dick. "Now give me that cock of yours again, so I can suck you dry."
George didn't have to be told twice.

Is it me or are the new outfits simpler? Like old ones had a lot of tiny useless details all around, the new ones look "cleaner" in comparison. It's not bad I kinda like it but it definitely feels weird
Before we start I just wanna say that I kinda critically analysed the costume designs instead of you know. just talking about the details. cool here we go
Yeah aside from VBS they all feel so. Plain, I guess? MMJ’s outfits probably the worst instance, imo they felt more same-y than before and I get they’re an idol unit so they were gonna be uniform but there’s something off. It’s the blue, I get that it’s probably a nod to the blue penlights, but using green or their respective image colors would’ve been better I think. You can barely even see Haruka or Shizuku's image colors on the skirts. Honestly I don’t think the accessories are that bad, they’re pretty cute and fit the group, though the costume being so plain outside of them just makes it look like there should be more. the thing is the outfits aren't the same, they have different skirts and shirts like the original it's just the fact that they all have the same color scheme and similar-enough accessories that it makes the differences less noticable. their image colors should've been the primary or secondary color not the tertiary color.
Leo/need I can get being more uniform, it goes with their whole thing, and I liked how there’s still a lot of details to differentiate them and give them personality. Honestly their original color scheme was pretty basic but making their image colors the secondary colors instead of of the primary colors of their outfit? it just wasn't it. honestly it wouldn't be too bad if the grey wasn't such an ugly color it looks really bad. if they'd gone with black or a much darker grey for the blazers it would've looked so much better and made the accents stand out more. also, the lack of accessories... i get they're more "professional and mature" but their outfits are quite boring, especially next to Miku's. If all of them had a big star armband like Honami or even had a bigger star buckle anywhere (like on a belt) it would look a bit nicer.
WxS was an improvement from Leo/need maybe? The outfits are definitely the most detailed so far, and they had a lot of personality. I like that they kept the original theme of character types (Rui being a villain, Nene being a fairy, etc), and it's not hard to tell what role each of them are meant to be (except emu but it wasn't obvious what hers was in the first place). I think Tsukasa's fits his personality quite well; he plays hero roles so he has a prince sort of outfit, he's the leader so he's got the sash, and he usually dresses very smart. it's very plain though, definitely could've done with brighter colors on the accessories, and maybe keeping the belt charm. also the jacket and trousers being the same color without much to separate them and balance it out doesn't look great. emu and nene's are both better, the color palettes are really nice and their outfits aren't plain holy shit. Emu's fits her personality really well - just by looking you can tell she's a fun and positive person. Rui's is probably the one i'd say is best out of the bunch. I know we can't see the front but the asymmetry and use of black in the color palette makes it stand out a lot and really adds something that the others were lacking. it's a very good villain outfit as well.
N25's were simple, but managed to actually pull it off. they didn't feel really plain compared to some of the other units despite actually being pretty plain. their outfits were always dark, and that hasn't changed, but making the colors more murky adds an extra layer to it. the addition of the flower patterns really adds something to take away the plainess of the original outfits, as well as adding relevant symbolism. Mafuyu's especially stands out being the lightest color and being the most ragged. It tells you she's different, she appears bright and perfect at first, but when you look further down, she's damaged. The image colors could've done with being a bit brighter maybe but other than that these are pretty good.
VBS outfits are actually really good. There I said it. They're able to feel cohesive as a group while still managing to reflect the individuality of each members and not be plain. The outfits fit their personal styles really well, Kohane's more girly, An's more cool and mature, Akito's sporty and active and Toya's more smart but still has the street look. Despite their outfits looking totally different, you can tell they're a unit because of the reddish-pink accents on all their outfits and also using white as a unifying color. i know i complained about the white making the other outfits plain but it's far more balanced out here and isn't as in-your-face. it isn't like MMJ and WxS that have white as their main outfit color. With VBS it's just one white item of clothing: Kohane's sweater, An's cargos, Akito's hoodie and Toya's tshirt. it's incorporated in a very natural way and isn't overly prominent. their image colors and other colors are used just as much in the outfits to balance it out. they have the best balance undoubtedly. even the accessories, they aren't big and there's not a whole lot of them, but the outfits already have a lot going on so they don't need to be complex, they're just there to add something extra.
There’s too much white.

Beta Daisy and Dandy
I've actually been drawing Daisy for a while so I thought that I should at least dump all the old art somewhere. Time for a trip down memory lane!
First ever drawing
Tumblr media
Ah yes. When I promised myself not to make anymore OCs cause I already had a whole bunch of fnaf ones. So much for that.
Her colors used to be a lot less saturated which in my opinion didn't fit in with such a colorful cast. There are some parts of her outfit I kept like the overalls and her shirt. I just changed the sleeves so it actually looks like she's wearing gloves like I intended. Her attitude is pretty much the same.
Doodles!
Tumblr media
Fun Fact: Her Halloween costume is just her dad's old clothes.
He was also supposed to be dead.
Tumblr media
Still gay as fuck
Tumblr media
Next are drawings I made for old tiktoks of Daisy!
(If you wanna find them then my tiktok is linked in my bio)
"Maybe he's blinking when you're blinking."
Tumblr media
Second time ever drawing Julie! This is when I started to lean into my more cartoony style for Daisy. She still never trusted Wally.
"You're not my friend!"
Tumblr media
Finally leaned away from so much orange. I really liked playing around with Julie's design since she gives off Mable (Gravity Falls) vibes when it comes to fashion. Always wanting to change it up.
"Don't start picking fights with my costumers!"
Tumblr media Tumblr media
First time ever drawing Howdy! Really wanted to emphasize how tiny she is compared to him.
"Have you been there the whole time!?"
Tumblr media Tumblr media
First Wally drawing! Sneaky little guy. Definitely wanted him to look more off-putting in this one. And new Julie outfit! This one was a little Minnie Mouse inspired getup. I also like the idea of Julie's hair always being really big.
"I know saying someone looks gay is 'wrong' BUT LOOK AT HIM!"
Tumblr media
First ever Dandy doodle! This was after I made his beta design and wanted to tease him a little since beforehand I never actually mentioned Daisy even had a brother. Speaking of which.
Dandy!
Tumblr media
He used to actually be more two-faced and mean. Heck he wasn't even supposed to be living in the neighborhood originally. His appearance would've been exactly like those episodes in kids shows where a new "perfect" character is introduced but is mean behind closed doors to a certain character and the one character that doesn't like them gets brushed off as "jealous" but then it gets revealed they were bad the whole time to the others, then cue the group hug apology. Basically he would've been a meaner and more manipulative version of Daisy. Someone that really brought out her insecurities. Someone that loved being the "Better Daisy" Which is ironic considering he got replaced with a better version of him. As for his appearance I was trying to go for a more city-like look in contrast to Daisy's rough and tumble country vibe. But after a while to me it didn't feel "kid's show" enough.
Pets
Tumblr media
I completely forgot about this drawing so I'm adding it a whole two days later. But yeah they canonically have pets. Daisy has a flytrap she named Gertrude and Dandy has his pet mouse Mortimer.
Last drawings of Beta Daisy
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Some things really never change.
Well that's all of my old drawings of these goobers (Yes I only made three drawings of the old Dandy) It was nice looking back on some old memories. It's been a fun eight months having these two idiots live in my head.

pleaseeee give us more bigender jamie thoughts the concept is too good
Bigender Jamie my beloved….
He uses he/she pronouns <3 she doesn't mind they/them (pronouns are like. not very important to her honestly. she probably couldn’t tell you what a pronoun was if you asked LMAO) but she just doesn't really connect with gender neutrality/androgyny as much as she does with manhood and womanhood as separate and coexisting entities yk
When Jamie's super little, he starts asking Georgie why there are only boys and girls and he can't be both, and instead of jumping to tell him that's just the way it is (because she wants her bub to be a free thinker. obviously), she thinks about it for a while and is like. Well. I don’t know. I suppose you can be both if you’d like? And Jamie is like “ok :) yay :)” and runs with it
Georgie lets Jamie wear/do whatever he wants. She’s a very busy woman and simply has bigger things to worry about than her child wearing a pink shirt or whatever the fuck. As long as she can afford it, she'll buy it for him, because she's just trying to keep him happy and pay the bills yk
So Jamie amasses a small collection of what he calls “girl stuff," like these types of things
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
which he absolutely loves and has so much fun w. He's never pressured to identify any certain type of way or change anything about himself, always allowed to experiment, and he's very comfortable until he meets his dad
James starts coming around again when Jamie’s like 10ish, and he’s horrified by Georgie’s lax stance on masculinity and makes Jamie break/cut up/throw out her "girl stuff," because he doesn't think it's at all appropriate for his "son"
Having to destroy his favorite clothes and toys while his dad berates her is super traumatic and completely alters his perception of her gender/gender as a whole. When it was just him and Georgie, Jamie sort of took it for granted that he had room to experiment and didn’t realize that most people really don’t think it’s okay, and so it's a big shock and really forces her into the closet for a long time
Then she starts at the academy and everything around her is super masculine all the time, and she really tries put it behind her and convince herself that it was a phase and she doesn't have any need to indulge in that part of herself, since she's comfortable as a man and doesn't exactly feel disconnected from manhood
But as hard as he tries to convince himself otherwise, he always feels like he's missing part of himself. He's content with the life he's living and absolutely loves being one of the lads, but there's just something missing and it's undeniable and uncomfortable and always bubbling below the surface
So she's stuck in that limbo until she starts dating Keeley. He shows her an old picture where he’s wearing a Cinderella costume at daycare or something and tells her how he used to want to be “a girl and a boy at the same time” + about the “girl stuff” and how James made him destroy it, and he recounts the whole thing like it’s a funny story (because that’s just how he processes things) and is expecting Keeley to laugh with him, but she just gives him this really sad look and tells him she's sorry that happened to him and she hopes he feels comfortable expressing himself authentically with her
Which he doesn't at first, but he acclimates, because Keeley is willing to meet him halfway and work it out with him <3 She does his makeup on occasion and they experiment with phrases like "good girl" and "girlfriend" and even subtle public expressions of femininity like jewelry and nail polish and "women's" soap/shampoo, which Jamie really loves mixing with his generally masculine presentation
At one point Keeley asks her if she thinks she's a trans woman, and she's like. ":/ I don't think so, like I don't want to be a woman all the time, I just wish I could be a lady without having to give up being a lad 😔”
And Keeley of course is like "oh like bigender?"
She says it like it's nothing, but it's the first time Jamie's ever heard that and he had no idea that that was a real option and genuinely feels like he's found something he's been looking for his entire life and literally almost cries
(You can't spell "lady" without "lad" <3)
So Jamie starts to get Girl Stuff again (including some early-aughts nostalgia items identical to the things that James made her get rid of, which is very healing) and present the way she wants to present and has never ever been happier and finally feels whole
I have a LOT of thoughts about Jamie's gender identity and his relationship with Roy and the internal conflict/shame that would arise from that, but this post is already soooo long so you guys will have to let me know if you want me to talk about all that in another post
She's mostly pretty comfortable with her body, so she forgoes gender affirming surgeries, but she does start estrogen in her mid-late 20's, which is a game changer because it makes it easier to present feminine when she wants to while also allowing her to present masculine when she wants to
He doesn't really ever come out to the team, because that's not his style. They can figure it out on their own. (If you assume she's cis that's on you etc.) And they do!!! Dani starts calling her "amiga" on tuesdays thursdays and saturdays and "amigo" on mondays wednesdays and fridays or something like that lmaooo
He does come out to Georgie and Simon tho <3 Georgie is not surprised at all and takes to adding "baby girl" and "my daughter" to her repertoire very quickly, and at the end of the day she's the person whose opinion matters most to Jamie, so it's just a huge weight off his shoulders
(Simon makes her a bi flag cake and is like "love is love <3" and Jamie is like. Hm. Well. Thank you. You're a little lost but thank you)

different anon jumping in here but hot damn i'd read 500k of just your slice of life vignettes about this ls/es crossover. plot is so beyond unnecessary for this one holy shit just please hit a million word count giving us this juice. not sure if you had plans for first time/established but i'm now fantasizing about the added layers of all the varieties of it. the dark spiraly angst of es!bros who never crossed the line and have just barely begun to think about it, all naked panic and throes of guilt and excitement, trapped in a timeline with ls!bros who crossed it years back and can't help poking at the es versions of themselves bc they both know how hard it was for them. or, even better, if all 4 are still sort of peeking over the fence at the possibilities and ls!bros are going on year 30 of angsty mutual pining and here come the versions of themselves who made these emotions the ugliest that they ever were ... yum. yummyyyyyy please keep going
AAAA thank you so much!!!!!! :,)
i'm so honoured and glad that you like them! 🥰 these are so fun to write, so i hope you all keep thinking they're interesting, lol!
in my head, i've been picturing ES!Sam&Dean as being not "together," and as LS!Sam&Dean as being pretty firmly together/established.
it happened around a year and a half back, the slow realization that they both felt the same way, that the ownership and protectiveness and fear that close wouldn't be close enough, that they had for a while--single digits while. there wasn't any big "thing" that did it, just a bad hunt and a slow recovery and with all the god business, it just seems fair that they finally get to have this. it doesn't even feel like anything "new," more like an extension of what they already are to each other, what they already do. more of an equilibrium, a homeostasis, the world settling back into how it is supposed to be.
sometimes dean finds himself in the reflex of leaning away before he remembers that he can actually lean forward if he wants to. sam kicks his brother's shins under the table when he's being a dick but kisses him afterwards.
but ES!Sam&Dean are still stuck in the early stages. ES!Dean spent years mourning and hating sam for leaving, thumbing old polaroids of him in his middle school theater costume until the film starts to peel away and the picture underneath chips. sam had been hoping that the time apart would make his stomach less riotous, something with more ability to be tamed, but after jess and during the quiet moments spent in motel rooms, driving while sun filters through the windscreen and warming denim-clad legs and old leather, sam realizes that nothing has changed.
it makes him feel even more wretched because was he using jess this whole time? no. he loved her. he really did. dean just chips away at the hardest parts of his grief, the most isolating, with quips and burgers and big, earnest eyes. but how can someone find space for anything that's not dean in their chest, when he looks over with a betrayed moue and his hand glued to a beer bottle?
with sam's nightmares shaking him awake almost nightly, they've gotten in the habit of touching each other, fingers on wrists and dean's palm at the back of his neck and ankles crossing under tables and eyes tracking chapped lips and sides pressed together all the way down shoulders-biceps-forearms-waists-hips-thighs.
so when ES!Dean tries to find LS!Dean to ask him about the keys to the armory--because, hey, cool--he sees the door to his bedroom open. he sees the two pillows. sam's house shoes on one side of the bed. dean's on the other. the lube on the fucking nightstand that they don't even bother to put away because who ever comes over
and ES!Dean is...floored. fucking agog. and he gets even more flustered around LS!Sam and more convinced that this is some kind of alternate timeline/universe or something in which sam actually wants him back
he's blushing whenever LS!Sam looks at him and can't stop looking up at his not-so-little brother, built like a statue and making dean sweat with his fond smiles. he can't stop jerking off to imagining what it would be like to pull him down into a kiss, or feeling him from behind as he presses in. and this makes LS!Dean even more unworthy in ES!Dean's opinion, a murdering bastard drowning in gold and splendour. he thinks about it all the time--can't stop thinking about it. ES!Dean tries to catch LS!Sam's attention like 'me too, right? i'm good enough too, right?'
plus, it also fuels his anger at LS!Dean bc how did sam find out? how did this happen? did you force sam into this, you sick fuck? we swore on mom's grave that he'd never find out. no way sam actually wants us, no fucking shot.
if ES!Sam finds out, it would all kind of blow up, i think. it would be messy and sam would be furious because is that what ES!Dean's been trying to do and why he suddenly can't look either sam in the eye?? he wants to fuck LS!Sam?? what is different about him that ES!Sam doesn't have? it's kind of a betrayal on both fronts: a brother that only wants a specific not-ES!Sam version of sam, and a version of his older self that steals his brother out from under him.
not to mention, the whole time LS!Sam&Dean are looking at their younger selves with a weird mix of glee and pity, bc they don't even know yet, know what the word "brother" means, how it can mean everything at once, and to what extents they are willing to go to keep each other.
ARGH! it would be so messy!!! the tangled webs of longing and possession and just sheer goddamn need!
but anon!!!! you're so right!!!!!!!!! if neither of them are together, and suddenly they have to interact with these younger versions of themselves, who, if they can't have each other--who knows? with their big eyes and clear admiration and longing? these feelings have never been easy, but with ES!Sam&Dean, they're so messy. they bleed want, and it's agonizing to witness. idk...makes u think...
anyway. thank you for this lovely ask anon! and for your kind words!! if only i could write a million words about them, lol! x <3

Four Headcanons About Jessica Rabbit
(Original post here.)
Headcanon A: Realistic
Jessica has a certain type of laugh that only Roger can cause. It's loud, it's long, and it sounds a bit like a witch's cackle. It doesn't fit her femme fatale persona at all.
Headcanon B: While It May Not Be Realistic, It Is Hilarious
Jessica has a little sister - sort of. Another animator attempted to copy Jessica's design and create his own version of her, but a mistake on the model sheet meant he ended up with a curvaceous redhead who was only six inches tall, not six feet tall. The animator cast her out, and Jessica took her under her wing.
The six-inch toon now goes by Joellyn Krupnick. She's smart, bookish and slightly shy, and she's determined to help make life better for other "fun-size" toons. She works as an architect and landlady, building and renting out apartments and houses that are suitable for smaller toons. (Two of her tenants went on to become the stars of a cartoon called Chip 'n Dale Rescue Rangers.)
Jessica regards Joellyn as her (very) little sister, and the two women get along well.
Headcanon C: Heart-Crushing and Awful, But Fun to Inflict on Friends
Jessica's maiden name was Jessica Joy. She used to work at the Peacock Palace, a theatre located on the outskirts of Toontown and close to the tunnel to the "real world". She was one of many "Peacock Ladies": humanoid toon women who would put on shows for the (usually male human) audience. They wore revealing costumes in different shades of blue with plenty of peacock feathers.
Jessica's owners were two brothers called Rocco and Dominick DeGreasy. They did not treat their Peacock Ladies very well at all. The Ladies didn't just sing and dance; they had to be open to "private appointments" with customers who had paid extra for the privilege. Anything could happen in these appointments, and it was rarely fun for the Ladies. (In fact, the appointments were where Rocco and Dominick made the most money; the nightly shows were just a respectable face to keep the authorities off their backs.)
Jessica was drawn to be submissive and do whatever the humans told her to do. For a long time, she didn't feel strong enough to try to leave the Peacock Palace, convinced that this was her purpose, her reason for existing, and that she had no choice but to fulfill it.
It wasn't until after Roger burst into her life that Jessica slowly but surely built up the courage to change her situation.
As a side-effect of her bad experiences while wearing those blue costumes, Jessica now hates the colour blue. The only shade of blue she can tolerate is the one in Roger's eyes.
Headcanon D: Unrealistic, But I Will Disregard Canon About It Because I Reject Canon Reality and Substitute My Own
The 1970s were a dark decade for the Rabbits. In 1973, Eddie Valiant passed away. In 1978, Maroon Cartoons went out of business. Roger was deeply shaken by both events. He tried to keep the smile on his face, especially as he looked for work elsewhere, but in private he was much gloomier and less inclined to tell jokes.
Jessica wasn't doing too badly in comparison - she'd released some disco albums that kept her and her husband living comfortably - but she felt powerless to do anything about Roger's depressive state. He'd always been the one cheering her up, not the other way around. She tried to stay strong for his sake, but she couldn't deny that Eddie's death and the collapse of Maroon Cartoons made her feel uneasy too. She needed alone time to process everything - alone time that she wasn't getting while she was caring for Roger.
Then she started having dreams.
In Jessica's dream world, the characters had familiar names, but alien behaviours. Roger had darker fur and an even darker heart. Eddie was alive again, but stripped of his old personality. The DeGreasy brothers were back in the picture. And Jessica herself was just as shallow and cruel as everyone believed she was.
These dreams kept coming, night after night, becoming longer and more detailed each time. Jessica wondered if these dreams contained any clues to help her and Roger get out of their funk.
So she wrote the dreams down.
She wrote and rewrote, refining the scenes as more and more visions came to her. Eventually, her scribbles grew to the length of a novel.
And in 1981, she published that novel.
It was called Who Censored Roger Rabbit? and her pen name was Gary K. Wolf.
Some people at Disney took interest in the novel and wanted to turn it into a film. Jessica was glad to be involved, as it meant she and Roger could get back into acting.
But when Roger came onto the project, he had another idea for the direction the film could take. He remembered Eddie as a hero, and he wanted the whole world to remember him as a hero too. He wanted to tell Eddie's story. Jessica approved of this idea, because Roger's face was lighting up just talking about it.
She'd found it. She'd found the key to his happiness returning. In a roundabout way, yes, but she'd found it.
So the decision was made to create a historical film about how Eddie saved Toontown from being Dipped by Judge Doom. The film was called Who Framed Roger Rabbit, and Roger and Jessica played themselves.
It was a hit at the box office, and it kicked off a revival of interest in the classic cartoons. The 1990s were a golden decade for Roger and Jessica, nothing at all like the dark days of the 1970s.
And it was all thanks to Jessica's deeply weird dreams.

Beck gets a GF an it leads to a lot of funny silly stories.
Peter trying to figure out if something is going on, what is Beck planning trying to bring some random civilian into this, possibly mind controlling her or using his illusions to make her believe something else entirely is going on, or maybe Beck is lying to her? not telling her the whole truth and she is unaware of who he is?
but it turns out, she knows and she still likes him. she doesn't mind and is actually a good influence on him, surprisingly. this info surprises Peter and he has no idea what to think or how to feel about the thought of Beck having a girlfriend.
I mean. hey! at least the man is happy and seems to be doing a lot better mentally and emotionally. he seems to be having fun with his schemes again and even lessening the extreme nature of them, too. considerably so. So.. Peter can't really complain, yeah? Sure, he might still be committing crimes, but.. There's a change in him. Peter can sense it.
Alternatively, and one I really like:
Beck hasn't committed any crimes in months. Peter hasn't seen his favorite pompous windbag with a fishbowl in awhile and he's a little suspicious. Is he planning something? What is he up to? if he IS planning something, then what? a lot of questions going through he head as he goes about his day.
And then he spots something that nearly causes him to smack into a wall-- Quentin Beck was sitting and eating outside at a table with someone. Who could that person be? He's never seen them before-- A new villain in the making? A villain out of costume that he's never met?
the mere thought of Beck being on a simple date doesn't even cross his mind. Peter goes into investigator mode and works to stay unseen as he watches them from afar and tries to look into who that person is. when nothing comes up that should say anything suspicious about her-- he feels oddly disappointed.. So he decides to go in costume to ask Quentin Beck himself what's going on.
Peter locates Beck's living space and manages to get Beck's attention. giving him a slight startle.
something.. something.. Beck is trying to explain that he has nothing planned and he genuinely is just trying to live a normal life. that he wants to settle down, he even found someone-- Peter questions that.
Beck elaborates, she's just a regular person-- Peter questions if she knows-- Beck hesitates. Peter tilts his head. Beck is nervous.. it's genuine. he finally answers and Peter heads out after getting the answer.
Peter still goes out as himself to try and speak with Beck's new girlfriend when Beck isn't around. See for himself how she is and all. he doesn't know why this confuses him so much.. but he can't complain when it's keeping Beck out of trouble. Especially when the lady turns out to be quite nice.
a further story could be MJ or Peter actually befriending her and Peter gets to hear about how Beck is doing and what he's up to over time. It's nice knowing one of his rogues gallery members has successful turned over a new leaf.
Extra fun story: Mysterio is back at it again, but something is a little different to how he's acting-- Peter, as Spider-Man, investigates and comes to find out that Beck is merely trying to surprise his girlfriend-- but things got a little out of hand, it wasn't what Beck had planned.
in the end, Beck is able to put on a special little performance and surprise his girlfriend who is overjoyed by his act.
Peter is happy to have helped Beck work things out.

What Did You Eat Yesterday? 2 Ep 4 Stray Thoughts
Last week, we had the Halloween episode! We got the backstory on Kohinata and Wataru and learned that Wataru's dad had disowned him a long time ago. Kenji reprised his suit costume from the movie and accommodated Shiro's normal dress. Wataru thought he dressed as a wolf, but he just looked like a cat; Kohinata was way into it. Kenji makes them wear their rings when they visit Kohinata and Wataru. Later, Shiro's parents planned for their storage of their remains and offered a place for Kenji. Kenji took this offering for what it was and recontextualized his relationship with Shiro's mom to be a daughter-in-law who wasn't liked by her mother-in-law. This is clearly an upgrade for Kenji.
Oh lord the manager's side piece is coming back.
I like when shows just casually incorporate an actress's pregnancy into a show.
I agree with Shan. The new intro song is not growing on me.
I like the relationship Kenji has with the manager, and I like that he can chide him directly for his behavior.
Oo-sensei is determined to make Shiro take over the firm.
I feel like we should have a bigger discussion about the changing labor culture in Japan that Shiro's desire to leave work on time is now the current wave.
This man invited Kenji to his home for food? DANGER.
It's actually really fun seeing someone new cook, even if he's very much a man who doesn't think he should do any chores.
Thankfully I made pasta yesterday so I'm not getting hit with a craving.
I really hope Tabuchi reconciles with Chinami and just starts doing more of their cooking. He's clearly better at it.
Thank you, Kenji. Food as love means Chinami definitely felt bad that her food couldn't make Tabuchi feel her love.
I'm actually glad Reiko is leaving the manager. He's a mess and she wasn't happy.
Shiro and Kenji have come a long way. Neither of them got jealous about that dinner, and Shiro is speaking openly about potentially taking over the firm.
And now it comes home. It's about making food for those you love, and then telling the ones who cooked you enjoyed their food.
I really enjoy this version of Shiro and Kenji. They're so much fun in this nesting phase.

Freddy Krueger X F!Reader - Detention
Freddy knows you like him and idk puts up a scenario of a school environment cuz he found out you'd enjoy it or smth xd
Warnings: Freddy being himself, rather forced confession, suggesting of smut (just a little hehe)
You found yourself on your seat in your classroom. The fact that you were all alone wasn't the only odd thing you noticed. For an unknown reason you had a schoolgirl uniform on. A white bottom-up t-shirt with a deep blue collar, a matching blue skirt with two white stripes on the hem, a red scarf tie, a pair of long white socks and shiny black shoes. The skirt was way too short and could barely reach your knees.
Suddenly you heard ear-splitting noise. You covered your ears and turned your head to see what made such awful sound. The chalkboard. A chalk wrote by itself to the board. The sentence made you shiver. It read: "Learning is fun WITH FREDDY!". So you were in a dream, like you had already assumed.
Your mind rushed as you tried to think a way to escape the burnt asshole before it was too late. You decided to leave the building as quickly as possible. You got up from your seat and headed to the door but managed only to take a few steps before the door opened.
There stood Freddy with a big grin on his thin lips. His clothes weren't the usual neither. He had a red and green striped sweater west, a white bottom-up shirt beneath that, dark brown pants that were surprisingly clean looking, leather boots, and a red and green bow tie. You gulped taking a step back. On the right side of his west he had a name tag that said: Mr. Krueger, the headmaster.
"Well, well. Ms. (L/n) isn't trying to leave the detention, is she?" Freddy's tone was rather teaseful and it was obvious that he enjoyed the situation.
"What is this shit? I just want to sleep," you said as another shiver went down your spine. Freddy lurked closer.
"Ah, ah. Mind your tone," he smirked. You glared him.
"What's with these costumes?" you asked, mainly to play time to plan an exit. This time he chuckled.
"I figured you'd like this sort of stuff," he answered, with an amused tone.
"Just what are you talking about? Why would I 'like this sort of stuff'?" you spoke, getting more annoyed of the male in front of you.
"There's nothing to be ashamed of, sweet-cheeks. I did my re-search, and Dolly, you're an open book full of messy fantasies like this one," Freddy couldn't have looked more proud of himself. His words made you blush again.
"F-fair enough, but that doesn't mean I want anything to do with you," the escape plan was the last thing on your mind at that moment. You wanted desperately to know how much he knew. He took some steps towards you and was only a few feet apart.
"Ah, yes. I also found out another interesting thing about you. Tell me, what kind of person has feelings towards the man who kills her friends?" you mentally face-palmed. This really was your nightmare...
"Y-you're out of your mind..." you murmured, not being able to look at him in the eyes.
He took yet another step, closing the cap between you two. His hot breath brushed against your right ear as he whispered: "Am I?". His tone wasn't threatening, but rather serious, like he wanted you to admit it to him. 'Not going to happen!' you thought.
You huffed, changing the subject; "Where did you leave the glove?"
Freddy smirked again. If you wanted to play hard to get he was more than happy to play with you. "You'll be a good little girly and we won't need it, won't we?" he answered.
You shook your head. "Just like that," he grinned cockily, "Shall we begin the detention?"
"Whatever." you spoke. If you just keep him preoccupied long enough, you'll get to sleep and he won't try to kill you the whole night...
"Excellent! First up, you'll have to answer a few questions. A simple yes or no will do fine. And before we start, if your answer is wrong, a piece of clothing you're wearing disappears. Are you ready?"
What an absolute ass...
"Yeah, bring it on," you answered grumpily. It was true that you had feelings for him, for a reason you didn't even know yourself, but did he still have to be such dick?
"The first question goes; Are you a virgin?" his eyes flickered at excitement. Yup, he was a full-time dick.
"I'm not a virgin, Freddy," you rolled your eyes, but couldn't help but blush a little. Actually, you were one, but you didn't want to say it out loud to the bastard.
"It's Mr. Krueger to you, and your answer was... Wrong!"
The red tie you had disappeared. How on earth did he know these things? "Alright! I am! Asshole..." the last word you murmured quietly.
"I heard that. Say goodbye to your socks!" he laughed. The son of a bitch just laughed at you. Your socks were gone, and so were your shoes.
"The second question; Are you attracted to me?" he had such shit-eating grin on his face...
"I... Yes..." you mumbled.
"I can't hear you," his voice was full of enjoyment and self-satisfaction.
"Yes! Just quit clowning around and kiss me already!" you shouted before you realized and quickly covered your mouth with your hand.
"With pleasure, princess!" he answered taking your hand from your mouth, and pressing his burnt lips against yours. You huffed, kissing him back. He licked your lips before biting the lower one gently enough. Needless to say you were a blushing mess afterwards.
"Are you ready for the final question?" Freddy asked with a huge grin.
"Yeah.." you said, still being a little dumb-founded about what had just happened.
"Okay, here it goes; Should we take this further?" so that's why he was having such big grin about...
"N-no I think I'm fine..." you said as your face flushed again. Before you knew it, your shirt was gone.
"Gee, you really should quit lying. It's a nasty habit for a Sweetheart like yourself..."

My little review of the Fallout tv show season 1. *SPOILERS BELOW CUT*
Okay so, I finally finished the show and omg it was amazing. It was fun and had a lot of references and poked some fun at the players who complained ( The radio show with the minutemen music). It was nice and I enjoyed it.
Section 1 review -The characters-
So the characters were fleshed out and fun, I enjoyed their designs, personalities, and history. The most fleshed out was probably The Ghoul AKA Cooper Howard. Which works because he is pre-war, and that was nice to have to give us a little tell of what pre-war was like. Though I would have loved to see more of it and the more mundane side. Like the average persons life during pre-war, or someone who was severely struggling. Maybe for next season? Anyways, he was fun and interesting. His design was very fun, like who doesn't like a cowboy? Then his personality is pretty complex yet also quite simple, he is an actor which makes that complexity of him as I can't really grasp his thoughts and actions completely. He is a character I understand yet also don't it is very confusing. Then again it was probably also because I could hardly understand him half the time because of the accent and the fact there was no subtitles and the ambient sound was loud as hell, as well as the fact that we didn't really get to see too much of him postwar in the same way we saw the other two (three? if you count Lucy's brother) main characters. If that makes sense...idk.
Any who, Lucy MacLean was amazing and adorable loved her so much. She was in my opinion the best vault dweller rep, though she seemed too stable. For someone from a vault she was very calm and seemed to handle violence well. Like we saw no apprehension in her actions and she was very optimistic no matter what. And I know that people can be like that okay! But for someone from a vault that never seemed to at least have violence she was way too calm. I was honestly expecting her to have a mental breakdown at one point or something similar, like she has seen so much and almost died so many times. I also see the naivety that she has but that doesn't really excuse the fact that she brushes off things so easily. Yet even so I really like her, she is fun and adorable. I just wish we got a more "accurate" version of someone who has never seen the horrors of the waste, especially since for most of it she had no companion to make her feel safe and keep up such a optimistic naivety. Though even so it kinda works considering how the vault dwellers of the games are?
Now Maximus was fun, I loved him but he was less developed than the other two. He had his goals but we missed a lot of the bonding that he had with Lucy and Thaddeus, and how/why their companionship changed him and his goals. Like I know it is there but it wasn't really shown, we know that he likes Lucy and he was hoping to be friends with Thaddeus but we don't really see the whole picture of why. We don't see the growth of it which really sucks because it could have been really fun so long as they do it properly. Then his backstory is still mostly unknown, like what was his childhood like before the Brotherhood? What was Shady Sands really like? But he was still a decent character. His motives were pretty clear and simple and he is what you would expect from someone brainwashed by the brotherhood, someone who was also disrespected by the brotherhood. Not much to really say and I hope we have him more fleshed out soon. Sucks my review of his character is so short because I really like him and his little cute romance with Lucy.
So overall I feel that the characters were fun and nice, great designs, nice voices, decently made, etc. but they were unfortunately a little rushed in some aspects making them less developed and rounded of characters, but then again it is a series and we have time skips in it so it kinda explains why that is.
-------------------------------------
Section 2 review -The costumes/designs-
Loved how everyone looked. The costumes were really nice and fun, love how ghouls looked like ghouls although a little too pretty still honestly. Would have loved to see some ghoul designs from the other games instead of well the fallout 4 style. But they looked good and pretty real in some sense. I do wish that we got to see more ghouls that haven't gone or were going feral and I think that they did some interesting things with them (i'll talk more about it further down)
The power armour was awesome, loved to see how they would work in "real life" and it is what I expected and how I think the PA frames work (I have my own little ideas of the power armour variants one being PA frames that we see in fallout 4 and TV show, and the other from games past that Fallout 1, 2, 3 and New Vegas).
I also enjoyed that wasters and raiders looked, well like how they should. I do wish that we got to see more of them but it was pretty awesome either way.
Then the sets were beautiful, would have love to see more wild life though, missed opportunity there but it is okay since its literally the desert. Hopefully we'll see some more creatures, and I was really expecting to see some scorpions as that land is perfect for them. Do wish that we could see more locations though, especially more with story telling just in the way they are decorated. Not much else to say about it all, other than I liked it and it everywhere felt like a wasteland.
------------------------
Section 3 review -Lore-
Whoo boy, now the lore here is...okay. It is in line (mostly) with cannon and what I expected.
-Confliction with New Vegas :/
2296 that is the year it takes place, and it seems okay. But the brotherhood is strong which is weird considering that the brotherhood over west were either destroyed based off of Fallout New Vegas many endings, and because they are there that means that the independent ending might of occurred letting the brotherhood stay alive. Which then means that in Fallout 4 the brotherhood was not destroyed over there based off of the endings though you can make almost every faction not kill each other with the minutemen. Why did I come to this conclusion, well because they have a sister prydwen. That is labeled the prydwen despite having a different name..Oh and the T-60's being used also hint to that in some way. Which means that the west and east coast brotherhood most likely absorbed into each other. Complete speculation though but that is what I am seeing here. Either way the TV show does conflict with New Vegas in that spectrum. It also conflicts with the fact that the NCR's Shady sands fell in 2277 and blew up exactly when Fallout 3 takes place. (Or seemingly anyways based on the diagram which is hard to really know if it was 2277 or if that date was the decline and it exploded later, yet even so it also works because the NCR was in decline during New Vegas so Shady sands getting destroyed isn't the most outrageous thing.)
So that makes New Vegas's lore iffy in cannon if the TV show is to be correct and considered cannon, which then can also makes certain things cannon from fallout 4 because of how it mixes with New Vegas's lore and the TV shows lore. I know I don't really make much sense but I hope you can understand? This is mostly me just trying to fit the puzzle pieces of lore together when they don't really fit, and well just trying to concur what is most likely cannon because of the conflictions. (Not like we have an actual answer on what the cannon endings for fallout 4 and New Vegas are).
---
Then I do kinda find the drug that ghouls use to no become feral interesting, we never do learn how it is exactly made but it is cool. Unfortunately because of it's existence and the lack of it being in any game over west or ever having managed to get over east makes it a little odd. Plus it was made a long time ago too because Cooper needed it to help prevent him from going feral, otherwise he wouldn't be in the show. But luckily this drug is something in the lore we can kind of mix in well with just an explanation that it existed but we just never saw it because reasons, and the fact that we never actually really played as a ghoul character.
Then the new drugs that witch dude had was interesting and I am curious if Thaddeus will actually turn into a ghoul or if he just has some sort of cool healing ability now. Cause I could have some fun with that drug for writing and I need answers on if he's now a ghoul because of it and subsequently, how the hell ghouls seemingly can't feel any pain (Cooper shrugging off bullets and his finger getting ripped off), how ghouls seemingly heal so quickly and seem to only be killed by a full on headshot.
OOh then Vault tec being that ones who dropped the bombs is actually something I already knew. So I don't know where or when or how I actually learnt this but I did. I knew that Vault tec was the ones who dropped the bombs, they armed and launched them to both the US and China, thus making the two countries drop more bombs in retaliation the other countries who were allied also following suit (most likely anyways). Now the reason why this works and why I feel that it is okay that Beth decided to tell us who started it, is simply because of one of the main message of Fallout in general (though I will say that this main message is not the only one, and it is a warning to the world.).
There are no winners, there are no losers. War is a dangerous thing, with no good ending. People die in war, people suffer in war. We all lose in war. Humanity suffers. War is not something good, it is never something good, many know this. Yet humans seemingly can't help but want that destruction. Those full of greed push it, create problems as they take and take. Greed from those who already have it all, yet they can't help but want more. Fallout in its core is the danger of greed, the danger of history. How history repeats, how war never changes. How people all want to save the world but can't agree on how. How we all can't help but rush towards destruction, whether we want to or not. Fallout is the message of danger of the human nature, the danger of letting greed corrupt, the danger of everything.
This is why I feel that Vault tec being the ones to press that big red button works. They are greed in itself. They are what Fallout warns us. They don't care what happens because they want it all. And it is not just Vault tec that is the one to do this, they are simply the ones who are put on that spot light. In the shadows are corrupt people like the Enclave who use those with so much greed to allow their greed to flow as well. Like how the Brotherhood takes and takes hoarding the tech and killing anyone in their path. How Caesar's legion took over land that don't belong to them to make things better. How the NCR try and re-create the old world. How the institute wants to purify the commonwealth by destroying it and replacing it. How factions all have their own way of fixing things, yet all fall into that same trap one way or another.
Don't know if that made sense but yeah!
Oh yeah guess what! My vault is cannon (not actually), in the scene where Vault tec shows off the vaults, you can see little America (Canada) has some vaults and with a good look at the map (or probably I'm basically blind), I could see that in/near the Rockies that there is a vault there. Near the border just like my Vault 21-B. I was so happy that there was a vault there even if it ain't my actual vault but heyyyy look at that eh? (lol) It's funny that I managed to create my own vault where one is actually located (well I'm pretty sure it is anyways), same with the other vaults that are up there, I managed to actually get the general location of them which are my hot spots of Canada (they are not in the exact spots though). BTW the hot spots are areas with vaults and habitual locations that aren't covered in snow. I decided on their locations based on the warmth of the coasts, and if they had large bodies of water nearby, and then if they were very populated areas.
Anyways that's my review, very odd, very scattered and not really a review but shhhhh. It's okay because I enjoyed it and hope to see more, and hopefully it'll be even better. Sorry for how long this is BTW.

Hello! Hope this isn't a bother, but do you have any tips for thinking up plots? I mean for the whole story. Reading Nie Wirst made me want to try to write something longer, but I'm a bit lost since all I've ever written are short one-shots or drabbles. Again, hope this isn't bothering you, feel free to ignore it! Also, this goes without saying but I'm looking forward to the sequel if you do write it
Hi! I love this question, thank you for asking it 😊 I'm pretty sure you'd get a variation of answers depending on who you ask, so my way might not necessarily work for you. (I'm thinking of this as a fun Pick&Mix of things that work for me and might work for others.)
My strategies differ for different kinds of writing. When I'm working on a poetry collection, it sometimes takes years to accumulate enough individual poems that fit together for me to start working on the arc or through-line of that collection. This just for context, since you did ask me about prose.
Whether for fanfiction or original fiction, I've found that I can only keep up my motivation for a longer piece if I am absolutely obsessed with it. Was wird aus uns was born from the immediate aftermath of me seeing Rebecca in Vienna, reading the book and pretty much every single fic on Ao3 and just needing those two fools to be okay. That one really came out of pure obsession. Nie wirst Du was a lot more considered and since the plot is quite complex, I did plan things ahead of time.
I'm going to try and sum up some of the things that I need in order to sustain my focus for a longer piece of writing under the cut!
I need to be absolutely obsessed with the initial idea. No matter how interesting a concept or fic idea is in theory, if it doesn't have that spark of obsession I might toss it around in my head for fun, but I won't actually write it. If an idea doesn't grip me enough that I'm constantly looking forward to the next plot point I'm "working towards", then I'll get bored and abandon the piece. This is especially true for fic. For Was wird aus uns, the first plot point everything was moving towards was their first kiss. Then Christmas, and then, finally, Danny's collapse and the changes that it brought. With Nie Wirst Du, I was constantly hooked, tbh. It's a little bit like a soap opera in that it has many twists and turns, very complicated relationship dynamics and many big feelings. Some plot points I was working towards there were the tea party and the costume ball. Once I knew what the fallout from the ball was going to be, I had a much better idea of how things would continue to escalate develop.
I figured out how I need to approach plot. A friend of mine is a hardcore plotter with detailed outlines, diagrams and everything. I used to try and approach plot like that with the result that by the time I'd thought everything through, I was bored and didn't actually write the story anymore. The thing I do is apparently called pantsing. It means I know the inciting incident of the story, maybe a few major plot points and I have at least a vague idea of how I want it to end. There is an overarching structure, but it's loose enough that it keeps me interested. I can decide to add or take away smaller plot elements without having to do major rewrites.
There needs to be a drive to the story. I need a sense of movement when I'm writing. Even if a story is set entirely in one place, there needs to be some undercurrent of change or development. If the story feels static, I don't have any way of getting a character from point A to point B.
I write the things I want to see. If you find yourself looking through Ao3 thinking "I wish someone had written about xyz", then that might be a sign for you to write the fic you're looking for! For example, I needed a happy ending for Danny and Ich, so I wrote one. Then I became really interested in learning more about Rebecca as a character. Who is she outside of the stories being told about her? To find that out, I needed a story where she was alive and since I didn't want to write a prequel, the idea for Nie Wirst Du was born.
I hope this was somewhat help or at least interesting! It also really helps to have a person who's just as excited about your story idea as you are. They might ask you questions you hadn't considered and give you a whole new insight into what you're writing. Feel free to ask more questions about this if you want. This was really fun!

upon a spies are forever rewatch, i've sorted through some of my feelings a bit better: the positives and the negatives
okay, so the stuff that i do really enjoy: the choreography, most of the musical numbers, tatiana and cynthia's characters in general, the running theme of torture as weird foreplay with owen and curt, and then the concepts of gay spies during the lavender scare era.
things that i really do NOT enjoy: barb's entire deal. she didn't feel like a very fleshed out character and i didn't enjoy the joke or feel like her presence added anything. the concept of a scientist with an unrequited crush on the gay spy lead is fine, but it just wasn't executed very well in my opinion.
susan's entire deal. what was up with him? why was he there? what did he want? like i feel like the scene with him and the foreign dignitary was supposed to show a bit of period typical queerphobia but it just. came off too much as a transphobic punchline for me to really buy it. also still don't know what his narrative role was really supposed to be.
the nazi deal. i GET IT! i don't even necessarily think that it was done all that badly for the genre it's parodying, i just did not enjoy it.
sergio was fun and funny, but i think that he needed a wig or something to distinguish him better from owen carvour. i know that the perils of having the same actors playing many parts are difficult, but it wasn't just me but all three people i've showed this to that assumed that sergio was owen carvour because it happened so soon afterwards and the costume change was so minimal. if it wasn't intentional (which i think if it was that was a bad move) then a bigger visual change could have been made
things that i almost enjoyed/areas that i would dig into:
there were a lot of elements that i felt like almost came together, but didn't quite get there. for one, the theme of curt needing a support system and not being able to do it all alone. for that to work for me, i think that he and tatiana should have started working together more concretely on a more permanent basis. i also would have liked more of them just being good friends. personally, i would have put our comphet revelation a bit earlier to give them more time to work that out and deal with working together.
beyond the theme of curt needing a support system, we have the attempted theme of whether it's good or bad to have individual humans spying and controlling so much of the fate of the world. is the finese needed to accomplish this a GOOD thing? are the secrets worth it? what would things look like without these hurdles, with computers doing the job and no one being allowed secrets anymore?
this is a VERY interesting concept, especially paired with the concept of the cold war, mccarthyism, conformity, the lavender scare, and a pair of gay spies who are very much in love and have no room to be so. but we didn't get a whole lot of room to sit with that, you know? we spend so much time with characters who don't really keep to those themes, a love interest-villain who's in disguise, and a farcical plot that only furthers his goals tangentially.
above everything else, i think that spies are forever doesn't quite know what it wants to be? the concepts that it plays with are so interesting, but it doesn't spend enough time with them as opposed to the more shallow elements of the farcical aspects to do much with the parts that i was most interested in.
i don't even necessarily think that it had to be what i wanted it to be, you know? it could have gone in a direction that isn't focused on questions of secrecy, queerness, the myth of a single great man, and community and focused entirely on the farce of the spy genre, but it raised those questions and didn't follow through, which made the other things that it was doing in a different direction weaker too. it just... wasn't enough of any of things it was playing with
which makes it a very frustrating but tantalizing piece of media for me.

Star Trek TOS S01E17: Shore Leave
Tumblr media
Original Thoughts
"…okay I knew from fandom osmosis that ST got weird at times, especially in Season 3… but WHAT DID I JUST WATCH?! That was… weird. Not necessarily bad, but weeeeird. I guess it was an attempt to be more comedic and considering that they look like they filmed in a park, save budget. I really can’t give an opinion on this one because I honestly cannot figure out what my opinion is for this one. It’s bizarre but harmless and I’m having a hard time deciding if I liked it or not. Spock more or less tricking Kirk into shore leave was funny though and the idea of a planet that essentially creates your daydreams is interesting, haha. The fist-fight at the end was also fun, so there are some enjoyable aspects if the bizarreness turns you off."
Rewatch Thoughts
Why was past me so anti-fun?! This episode is great!
Ah man, where do I even begin with this one? This episode is ridiculous and cheap... and I love it! You can tell that they filmed most of this in some local park and outright stuck someone in a cheap bunny costume. Yet it doesn't distract from the experience at all, if anything it adds to the bizarreness of it all. It's a chance to let everyone be stupid for a little while and sometimes you need those kinds of episodes. You need to be silly and fun and let the audience have fun too. I kind of feel like we've forgotten that as of late and it needs to change.
As I have gone in production order for this watch, I think that this was well-timed for me. We've had several serious, dramatic episodes in a row such as Conscience of the King, Galileo Seven, and two court martial episodes (well three since The Menagerie is a two-parter). I was kind of glad to get back around to this one when I did. The rabbit, Finnegan, and all the other crazy illusions that pop up make the episode pure chaos. And to think all of this could have been avoided if the planet inhabitants had just left a freakin' sign up or something.
Kirk is an absolute delight here. The guy is stressed and overworked, all of which he brought onto himself but doesn't want a break. Why? Because the Enterprise is full of workaholics. The scene where Spock tricks Kirk into ordering himself to take Shore Leave is one of the freakin' greatest Trek scenes ever. There is NO WAY that I can ever be convinced that Spock and McCoy did NOT plan on pulling this stunt. McCoy knows that Kirk is a stubborn ass and likely wouldn't listen to him, so giving Spock his log entry and Spock baiting Kirk into giving himself the order? Perfection.
Not that Kirk gets a relaxing time... well for the most part. The guy gets annoyed by an old Academy bully (twice), his best friend gets 'killed', and one bad illusion pops up after the other. Even when he's on break he can't catch a break. At least he gets to imagine an old crush of his cause he gets distracted by flowers? Hooray? Okay, that was kinda cute how he was all 'where the Hell is Sulu... oh hey, a flower!'. Never change Jim. Plus he gets to beat the shit out of Finnegan and get his shirt ripped... again. IDK why he even bothers with a shirt, it's just gonna get ripped to shreds.
Though as much as I love Jim here, McCoy is the highlight for me. Yes I realize that this being me that's not saying much, but every scene of his is pure gold. There's the whole Alice in Wonderland scene, then him calling Jim to tell him that he's possibly lost his mind ever so calmly. His flirting with Barrows is cute as is him encouraging her to play princess if she wants to. IDK, he's just kind of endearingly adorable in this one? Mind you he also seemed to have forgotten his brain cells considering he decided to not get out of the way of the knight and got stabbed for his troubles. I blame the rabbit, it broke his brain. But yeah he's so lucky the caretaker managed to fix him. Look, we often see McCoy all grumpy and dealing with everyone's problems, seeing him all relaxed is a nice change of pace!
Not much to say about Spock outside the 'trick Kirk into Shore Leave' scene. I kind of wish we had Jim and Bones yank him into it with them cause Vulcan or not he needs to have at least one. But I supposed that wasn't meant to be. I almost feel like he could have been kept on the ship the whole episode and it wouldn't have really hanged much, but I guess since Nimoy has a Starring credit and is the popular one they gotta include him. Also at the end when the Chorus Girl goes up to him and he seems to have no idea how to react, poor guy. No wonder he prefers to stay on the ship XD
There are so many good moments. Sulu and his glee for guns, Barrows in the princess dress, McCoy and Barrows flirting, it's 40 minutes of ridiculousness and I love it. It's nice to see these characters able to let loose and have fun since thus far it's not a side we've gotten to see much of... well at least by choice. We even got a bit of a feelsy scene when McCoy got 'killed'. Kirk looks like he's on the verge of crying and sounds about ready to beat the shit out of the caretaker until McCoy pops back up alive and well. Even Spock is at a loss and this is around the time that their relationship becomes more argumentative. But that scene aside it's a fun episode.
So a planet where whatever you think of can be created... why did anyone think that this was a good idea? Why did no one think of having a sign or a greeter or something to inform anyone who showed up how the planet worked? Why did they wait so long to clear everything up? Did no one think 'hey maybe this is a bad idea since someone could think up so and so and get someone hurt or worst'. IDC if they have machines that can bring someone back from the verge of death, that won't do shit if someone is legit dead (I refuse to believe that McCoy was dead-dead, none of these people checked his pulse properly and I'll die on that hill.). I have SO many questions on why NO ONE thought through any of this. Maybe the Enterprise crew ended up being the trial run... that's not a bad theory actually. That is now my headcanon!
Not sure if Kirk letting everyone go on the planet was a wise move at the end, but ah well. He gets to have his time with his old crush and actually gets the break that Spock and McCoy wanted him to take. Kind of nice to see him all relaxed considering how tense he was at the start. OH the massage scene! How could I forget the massage scene at the start? Now most everyone knows I'm not a Spirk shipper... but that scene and a few during the climax sure have plenty fo context even I can't ignore haha.
Wow, kind of surprised I managed to make the review this long. I figured I wouldn't have a lot to talk about given the nature of the episode... and I was wrong. But this episode is plain fun. The first time I watched it, I think that I was so taken aback despite knowing that this was one of the weirder episodes that I was unsure of how to feel. Three years later, I can now safely say that it was a delight! The characters are fantastic, the plot is chaotic in the best way, and the cheapness only adds to the fun. You don't always need fancy sets or a million-dollar budget to make a good episode, and this is a really good example of saving on budget but still making something enjoyable. It's not my favorite cause I like me my feelsy plots, but I still had a fun time revisiting this. I highly recommend this one especially if you need something to lift your spirits, it sure lifted mine~

November 2023 Books
To Nowhere and Back by Margaret J. Anderson
Short time-slip story. Bit of an odd ending, but I enjoyed it.
The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes by Suzanne Collins (reread)
Reread in anticipation of the film, which I'm going to have to wait to see.
Between Floors by W. R. Gingell
Slowly making my way through this series. The character interactions in this one grabbed my attention, and I'm looking forward to the next installment whenever I can manage to get it.
84, Charing Cross Road by Helene Hanff
Read for a book club that I'm sort of in. This was the first assigned book that I've actually wanted to bother with in quite a while, and then I wasn't able to join the discussion (no voice from a cold). Even so, I don't know what I would have said. I liked the book well enough but don't have any particular strong feelings about it. I guess I was expecting something a lot...more in-depth?
Giant Pumpkin Suite by Melanie Heuiser Hill
An extremely dedicated and single-minded young cellist has an accident that forces her life to take a different direction and finds growth and healing in helping her brother raise a giant pumpkin, a project that will bring them closer to their entire neighborhood. I enjoyed this a lot.
The Faces of Fear by Monica Hughes
This is an aggressively 1990s book with some rather dated perspectives, but I enjoyed the premise of the protagonist developing a friendship with someone she's never met through a VR game they're playing together, which has been designed to prey on their specific fears.
Sandwriter by Monica Hughes
I'd need to reread this one for it to sink in fully, but the worldbuilding and characterization were enjoyable, and I'd like to read the next book.
The Shadows of Rookhaven by Pádraig Kenny
Not as emotionally affective as the first book but nonetheless good. Although it had been long enough since I had read the earlier installment that I had forgotten names, and it was a bit difficult to get reoriented since the narrative expects you to remember everything right off the bat.
Tin by Pádraig Kenny
Beautiful. Moving. I never expected to get so invested in mechanical characters.
The Supergirls: Fashion, Feminism, Fantasy, and the History of Comic Book Heroines by Mike Madrid
If you're going to discuss female characters in comics, maybe don't devote a significant portion of the book to overly detailed, purple-prosey descriptions of objectifying costumes or use derogatory terms to describe real or fictional women. Madrid claims to feel a connection with female superheroes but seems most interested in them for objectification while presenting his views as empowering/exalting them. Also way too many contrived comparisons to things in music history.
The Cloud Forest by Joan North
Some interesting characterization but too mystical (if that's the word I'm looking for) for my taste.
The Hideaway Summer by Beverly Hollett Renner
Such a delightfully middle-grade premise of young siblings who end up spending their summer living on their own in a vacation house near the woods and their domestic adventures. A lot of fun.
The Dark House of the Sea Witch by Joan C. Robinson
Slighter than Robinson's other books which I've read, but a well-written read.
Moonbranches by Anne Rundle
Fantastically Gothic atmosphere, but a weird, weird ending. I don't know how to feel about this one.
Mystery on the Isle of Skye by Phyllis A. Whitney
More of a travelogue/informational guide to the Isle of Skye than an actual story or mystery. Which doesn't make it bad, but I was less invested in it compared to other books I've read by this author.
Secret of the Stone Face by Phyllis A. Whitney
Standard Whitney mystery, not one of the more memorable ones for me.
Comics
The Ray 1994
The miniseries that preceded this ongoing series had a fascinating premise but not so much emphasis on characterization, so I was delighted to find that that changed with the 1994 series, which has a different author. Lots of shenanigans, to be sure, but we also get Ray's difficulties adjusting to adulting in the real world after living in lightless isolation for eighteen years, his doubts and insecurities and bouts of depression, and most of all, his complicated relationship with his father, the legacy he's been forced into, and his potential to become more like his father than he's willing to recognize. The Terrills have a fascinatingly complex and dysfunctional dynamic that provides a lot to analyze, and I'll be thinking about this series for a long time.
there is so much drama here that is being slept on, where are the Rayfam fics?
