Also, I feel like the specific race swaps they did with the characters also feel like they're falling into stereotypes on the surface???
When we forget how they butchered the character personalities, when you think of Velma typically, you think of someone super smart and overachieving. Making her Southeast Asian makes her the "smart Southeast Asian character". When you think of Shaggy, you think of a stoner who's high all the time and loves to eat. Making him black makes him a "lazy POC character". When we think of Daphne, we think of the hot damsel in distress character who needs to be saved by Fred (which is not her whole character, none of these are, but if you're shorthanding it, then yeah). Making her east asian makes her a "lotus blossom character". Leaving Fred white, makes the last one worse.
Like, if we're gonna race swap, why not make the characters races that don't perpetuate harmful stereotypes. Keep Shaggy white, make Velma black, make Daphne Southeast Asian, make Fred East Asian. Boom, you're automatically making the race swaps more interesting and not perpetuating stereotypes commonly seen on TV and you don't have to change the character's personalities at all! Wow.
And don't get me started on how ugly the current designs for the characters for this show are. They don't Look Good or coherent
The ending for marble hornets was one of the worst ones I’ve ever seen for a series like this.
NOT BECAUSE IT WAS BAD.
Because it was so gut wrenching.
Tim lies to Jessica about Jay being alive just like how Alex lied to her about Amy being alive and well just like Jay lied to her about why he was in the hotel
Jessica is truly the most tragic character of the entire series due to how she just wants to help, like in the ending when she offers to call for help when Tim is HACKING A LUNG UP but (presumably) gets attacked by the operator. Also when she tried to help Jay and ends up being kidnapped and held at gun point. Now she is completely alone in her fight to survive the Operator while thinking that she could still be able to get in touch with Jay and tell her she’s okay since his last mission before he died was to find her.
The fact that we KNOW that the operator isn’t gone and probably never will be is so terrible
The way that Tim drives away just like Jay did after Alex broke Tim’s leg is such an amazing parallel and that basically confirms that something so atrocious happened in that parking lot that Tim didn’t want to include it.
THEN THE WHITE TEXT ON A BLACK BACKGROUND LIKE JAY USED TO DO SAYING “Everything is fine.”
me personally if my beautiful boybestfriend with brown puppy dog eyes proposed to me as a joke, i would have no choice but to marry him on the spot. i would simply pretend like im playing the long game and im gonna get him back eventually but we would live until we're 87 in perfect domestic bliss, fit with 2.5 kids and a golden retriever.
The way Kazuki said he couldn't even remember how their lives were before Miri, the way he kept buying her cereal, the way Rei fell asleep while holding her rubber duck, the way they watch her cartoons, they way they couldn't move on
I’m surprised that Husk didn’t call Angel Dust a bunch of anti-gay slurs in his “insult the rape victim” song, but Vivziepop wants to keep that “love me, I’m a liberal” facade up.
Oh I might have kicked a hornets’ nest with this one.
Maybe the lyrics shouldn’t be shitty, huh? What an idea! 🙄
I forgot I updated this— but good God what possessed people to give the final version of this song the green light?!
And people are shocked that other people are mad at it??
i'm sorry but i actually cannot get over do more. like just. buck's the loud one, the one that digs through forty feet of mud whilst screaming, the one that yells at you to hang on as he army crawls towards you in an active shooter situation. eddie's the quiet one, the one that locks everything away so he can work, the one that disassociates as soon as his job is done. but when eddie is rolled into the hospital, buck freezes and when mehta asks him if he's okay he can only whisper a broken no. then when buck is rolled into the hospital, eddie goes to follow and shouts a desperate do more after the doctors promise to do their best for him. do you understand?
This is genuinely going to be me whenever anyone asks me about this show now. I don’t remember what life was like before young royals started consuming my life. Sometimes I think what if I had never watched this show. It’s insanity.
