How much time do you spend planning some of your visual novels? At least going by some of them being jam submissions, it feels like you go from pre-production to a finished build very quickly, and it's amazing how you can manage that while still having an awesome story and so many assets.

Also, what is like, the process of planning a story out for you, if there's any vague or concrete similarities that you've noticed?

i think the important context here is that if i get bored/have nothing to do i jhust immediately get really suicidal its like ridiculous how bad it gets(ITS FINE DONT WORRY ABOUT IT IVE HAD 5 YEARS OF THERAPY). so i hate being bored and want to occupy my time wit something fun whatever that is. if i have a project to focus on but especially if I'm working for a game jam i have a deadline and i just decide to myself okay i will release a game now.

because ive made a decent amount of games i roughly have an idea on my capabilities, i can estimate how long it takes for me to write a story so and so long and how long it takes for me to draw stuff i need and how long it takes for me to throw stuff in renpy. these are estimates like as in I'm not accurate with it but still enough that i generally know where to start cutting ideas since the most important part is just having something to submit. i also know to plan around my brain wanting to slam my head into a wall an my hands suddenly giving up on being able to draw.

i think thats the beauty of game jams it forces you to just go for it and release something. releasing a 'bad' game is better than no game at all. experience only comes over time and i think just going for it is the best approach there is. like its literally 2 weeks 1 month whatever of your life. if you have the time and motivation go for it. make it work or fuck it up it wont matter in the grand scheme of things

im not sure what is the motivation behind the question but i do want to point out that this is just my method (if you can even call it a method) and the only way to figure out what works for you is to just try until you find something that actually works for you

idk not everyone will find it doable/fun to plan around spending two weeks gamedev 10 hours a day just cause i wanted to fit in 100 cgs for a jam game but apparently i can do that when i cheat my stupid adhd brain into hyperfocus with adhd meds

as for planning tho i think ideas on their own are worthless and its always about execution in the end. a great idea or a meh idea are the same for me but i do still enjoy the planning process so i keep notes

like i see a great tumblr post or i see some art or visual novel has some scene that inspires me: i save that shit for myself

having a big collection of random floating ideas like that helps me easily pick from especially during a jam type duration. right now i have like 4-5 half-baked project skeletons, some are literally like 3 pictures and some like naomida are a hundred hours worth of me writing world building about how the toilets work in a city with no plumbing cause its -30celcius(i love bringing this up)=

i dont normally plan that much, i tend to just wing it. like for malmaid i seriously just had some rough ideas and just went along as i wrote

same thing for dddeviance i had a handful of scenes that i really wanted to make and knew what kind of start and end it was meant to have and just figured out how to fill the in between. a lot of plot points changed vastly like halfway through i realised my devil + angel combination was stupid and i should just go for fallen angel + angel.

i think there really is no simple answer tho (as evident from the long as hell post) i don't really have a 'process' because every single game has been worked on has come with different type of planning since I'm always trying new stuff to try and distract me from boredom. like I've been using obsidian for naomida while previously I've just used a empty discord serve as my notes app for malmaid and dddeviance

and tbh with naomida I'm running to a new problem where I'm definitely planning too much. like I'm spending too much time fidgeting with details in chapter 4 even when i haven't finished writing chapter 1 just cause its so easy to get in the loop of "oh ill just change this one line" and boom 20 mins spent playing with my notes that didn't really progress my game since by the time i reach this point the whole scene might have shifted to something else

but if i had to squeeze an answer itd be something like everything related to my art or writing or games is just like "oooooo that seems fun i should remember this for later" and then i just string 10-100 of those into a story

and just like start filling in more details and working on my story in a nonlinear fashion until i feel like i have a strong enough skeleton that i can start writing my scenes. i hop around a lot, often preferring to write the fun scenes first like ero stuff or the ones I'm the most interested in and then the rest is just filling the blanks and stringing the cool scenes together

1. How did you get into writing fanfiction?

I’ve always been an avid reader and as a kid I wanted to be a writer so that was the start. I’ve been reading fanfic since i was in highschool, and I’ve had many different barely started fanfics started over the years but last year was the first time I was able to actually finish anything/taken it seriously. I think it just came down to college teaching me the last bit of discipline in my creative practice

2. How many fandoms have you written in?

Just Gallavich, but I’m very confident I will write destiel in my lifetime

3. How many years have you been writing fanfiction?

I published my first fic in September of last year!

4. Do you read or write more fanfiction?

it goes back and forth, when i enter a fandom i read fanfic voraciously but now i think i write a little more, its a balance between you can write the fanfic you want to read and you can read other peoples work to experience ideas you would never think of or just a different take on a familiar topic - both are good. I’m currently slowly going through and re-reading my old fics to get them ready to print and bind and its been a super fun process

5. What is one way you’ve improved as a writer?

I hope i’ve improved a lot overall lol the main thing i always want to do well is portray the environment the way i envision it bc the worlds of my fanfics are rich and beautiful in my head so i just want to get better and better at pulling people into that

6. What’s the weirdest topic you researched for a writing project?

Not a ton of weird research, a lot of google maps-ing to get a better understanding of the layout of Chicago and understanding how far away states/cities are from one another (i’m american, just a weird bicoastal one)

7. What’s your favorite type of comment to receive on your work?

literally any comment, all of them are amazing and i can’t believe people read what i write and actually like it ?!? beautiful and very novel

8. What’s the most fringe trope/topic you write about?

um - i guess ABO, i was originally going to publish mine all mine anonymously bc it was very cringe inducing and still kind of is but tbh when i read it back i was like- wait this is good, even if it’s weird.

psychopomp is also a weird story, the way i thought/felt about it while writing was deeply weird and all the the themes of death and decay and devotion and consummation as an allegory for love were intended to be dark and just- weird

9. What is the hardest type of story for you to write?

Emotionally introspective fics that also really study the characters are really hard and i dont know why I keep fucking writing them - after finishing the fic im writing now i have to shift to something more plot focused

its really hard for obvious reasons but i also feel like i am an extremely logic driven person with a very particular worldview and all these characters are more emotionally driven than me. so i have to work very hard to not write behaviors from my pov and my decision making but from a studied understanding of the characters - which might be a good thing idk

um also idk if it needs to be said but brevity is not my strong suit, i should probably work on that

10. What is the easiest type?

Fluff, just cuddling and pillow talk baby i love that shit, also idk if i write smut well but it def goes the quickest for me

11. Where do you do your writing? What platform? When?

Pages app on my icloud - I write after work some days, on my lunch break and on the train ride home. Every so often ill wake up early on a weekend and be in the mood to put on my noise canceling headphones and write for hours, but thats not super often

12. What is something you’ve been too nervous/intimidated to write, but would love to write one day?

uhh - we’ll see. my true crime au is def one i want to write but all my ideas for the plot are just too dark rn, so well see if i can get it to lighten up a bit

I don’t think there’s a single mistake in movie history that has riled up this many people as arthur darling missing militarisation of Fischer. It’s (beautifully, always) taken as the moment eames shows arthur “it’s okay bb I love you” in all the fics ever (keep doing that please it’s my jam) and over the past 13 years people have been toying different ideas trying to figure out the reason for the best point man in the industry to miss such important detail of the job.

nobody asked, but here’s my two cents on it.

But first, lemme briefly mention the theories I have seen so far in the fandom regarding this

1. Arthur missed it. Just as it’s portrayed in the movie. He’s just human and humans are bound to make mistakes. There’s no mystery/backstory/explanation; he just missed it. cause even tho he strives to be, he isn’t 100% perfect.

(it’s very possible, but where’s the fun in this explanation cmon)

2. Arthur missed it cause he was too burned out by the long two years of babysitting cobb and he was too busy in inception job itself playing mentor to Ariadne while doing his point man duties

(I agree. totally. He needed to be wrapped in a blanket and fed cookies 30 seconds in to the damn movie)

3. Arthur didn’t miss it. He hid the fact intentionally to con the team. He was double crossing cobb/Eames and was actually helping cobol/CIA so he made the job difficult by keeping it a secret

(I’m not overly fond of this explanation, and it’s doesn’t ring true with the canon, but I see the appeal. The whole eames/arthur enemies to lovers extravaganza *chefs kiss*)

4. Arthur didn’t miss anything. Fischer wasn’t militarised. The projections were cobbs, including that giant ass train.

(Im not smart enough to completely understand this explanation but it’s a big brain idea *applause*)

so.. now onto the silly little idea I had.

(this could very well be an already discussed idea, I’m waaaaay late to the party, but I just haven’t come across it so far. Please bear with me if you’ve mentioned/seen someone mention it anywhere)

What if..what if it was arthur himself who militarised Fischer. What if it’s a job he did while running around the world with cobb and he did it from everyone?

in actual, real world, country hopping, funding lawyers, paying for law suits and funding for two kids actually need a truckload of money. While the Miles couple must’ve helped with some of those expenses, there must’ve been a huge amount of balance for cobb to cover, and despite being a runaway dad, cobb must’ve tried his best to make things at home were going smooth at home, taking as much jobs he could get, even the riskier and shadier ones.

however, with his mind falling apart and mal being not so lovely, there must’ve been a moment the efforts just weren’t enough. Cobb wouldn’t have mentioned it or more likely, wouldn’t have even noticed it, cause if the movie is any indication, the tabs must’ve been kept by a certain very meticulous point man.

arthur ,more than anyone else, knew how much cobb wanted to see his children and how hard he was trying to get his name cleared and get back to them. so, letting cobb know that he wasn’t dong enough as a father and a protector was definitely out in arthurs book.

so what if, while pretending for both his and cobbs sake that everything was just fine, arthur started taking up extra work to fill out those gaps? certainly not heavy inception-level work, but the ones which would only require a point man or just an architect. jobs without too much trouble, almost legal and which could be done in between jobs.

and arthur wouldn’t have minded missing a few nights sleep here and there, if it meant the lawyers keeping the feds off cobbs back were paid and happy. he knew his best friend was already beating himself up for mal, both the real life person and the projection and leaving such young kids alone, so even when cobb grumbled about research being completed late, arthur never let cobb know it’s cause he’s also handling another jobs research and add to the staggering weight of guilt his friend carried.

so what if, militarisation of Fisher was one such run-in-the-mill job that was done in super secrecy? Arthur was consulted when fishcer senior fell ill, arthur flew in (stateside), met Robert barely once, did the job and flew back.

when inception came along, arthur was obviously in a nice little pickle and he knew he had to talk cobb out of it (in the movie, we could see arthur being wary of inception from the get go, and while the extreme chance of utter failure could’ve been the reason, this could also be the reason why he didn’t wanna go through with it *cue stabby salad scene*) there was no way arthur could tell this to cobb without hurting him as then he would’ve had to explain all the rest to him as well.

being the point does mean he has to know it all, but it never says the others also have to know as much he does. so arthur keeps it hidden, but takes all the precautions; he makes sure everything is planned well and that everyone is trained in gun combat ( even the first class flight attendant specially the first class flight attendant ), knowing that worse that could happen would be dying in a dream, which for arthur, only meant waking up at that point. arthur was sure they could go thru with it cause as he says in the movie “it’s nothing they haven’t dealt with before”.

I love the level of calmness arthur was exuding when cobb tears him a new one and while it could be simply because arthurs life long experience of dealing with cranky cobb, there was also this hint of resigned “I’ve been expecting this” nature to his demeanour that was too calm, even for arthur. He tries to calm cobb down in the most placating manner cause Arthur must’ve decided that he deserves whatever that’s coming along his way and has been ready to take the blame since day one and tries his damndest to make sure everyone makes it out alive cause he was prepared and was sure. arthur didn’t mind playing the betrayer so that cobb could walk away guilt free out of inception.

however, what arthur never, ever expected was the person he has considered as his closest friend, to betray him and everyone else in the worst possible manner.

I WAS GOING FERAL WHILE READING THIS, LITERALLY PACING AROUND THE ROOM AND STUFF WHEN I SKIMMED THROUGH THE LINES AT FIRST 😭😭

I realize this is because of certain things.

1.) I am absolutely in awe with the characters-react-to-themselves-or-their-show concept. TMI but it's one of the things I daydream about while pacing around my room. SO YOU CAN IMAGINE MY EXCITEMENT WHEN I SAW SOMETHING LIKE THIS 😭😭

O.MY.GLOB. It was my first time reading something with this concept on a03 (granted, I have not been around much) but STILL!

when I saw the format, it was SO understandable. LIKE.

the way lines/scenes are quoted in bold and then how the characters' reactions are on a separate space. LIKE. YESSSSS. I UNDERSTAND WHAT'S HAPPENING, AND WHAT THEY'RE REACTING TO, ETC.

honestly because of my own inclinations to this concept and how I have my own fanfictions playing in my head of a similar but ofc different nature,

2.) The use of words and diction is so straight-forward/concise, understandable and good (like as in the figurative language). I love the way the characters' reactions are described, and the explanations behind them. I especially like Dazai's reactions. I like the way he's described and how he's on the edge of his seat while watching.

3.) THE CHARACTERS. AND. their understanding of Akutagawa.

4.) This fic is so unashamedly, unapologetically, amazingly, self-indulgent.

I. FUCKING. LOVE. IT.

I could tell the author was enjoying herself while writing this. This was a work that the author made to enjoy.

I LIKE SELF-INDULGENT FICS cause you can let loose and literally go wild with anything without worrying too much about technicalities.

She appears out of nowhere and lets the Agency watch the events of BEAST and it doesn't take long before they're all sat down together as though they're watching in a cinema. I think straight-forwardness is one of the writing's strength. like YESSS. GET STRAIGHT TO THE GOOD STUFF.

5.) The characters are canon compliant (mostly)

I LOVE IT WHEN the characters act like themselves! When their actions are things I can envision their canon counterparts doing.

despite there being a few characters/moments that I've had gripes with, the internal conflict within and the reactions in general made it so enjoyable for me.

Just to name a few, Dazai, Kyouka, Kunikida, and Ranpo in particular stood out to me.

I like the part where Fukuzawa yells, "That's enough!" while 2 characters are arguing and they instantly stop. I think that is SO real. like. that's something that would DEF happen in canon. no one can change my mind. also that small gesture where Ranpo takes out his lollipop. love it.

1. How did you get into writing fanfiction?

ive been into writing for years before i got into fanfiction specifically so i guess just from reading fanfiction i guess, but if you want a longer story, i got more interested in writing from roleplaying on amino and got into fanfiction because the fandom i was in at the time got OBSESSED with this one popular work and i just HAD to check it out

2. How many fandoms have you written in?

officially, my ao3 account only has glee works rn but i do have a 911 fic im working on and i do want to venture into more fandoms, but i don’t really have the confidence to do so yet

3. How many years have you been writing fanfiction?

i’ve been trying since 2020 to be more of a fanfic writer but never actually got anything solid until 2023 so 1-4 years depending on how you see it

4. Do you read or write more fanfiction?

definitely read im a slowass writer and part of that is because im too busy reading fanfiction instead of writing

5. What is one way you've improved as a writer?

overall in the years i’ve been a writer, i feel like i’m better at portraying characters as well rounded and creating characters that aren’t just one stereotype. when it comes to my time as a fanfic writer, im better at writing actual scenes rather than just random narration

the probability of survival when falling from certain heights. also ohio the glee writers were cruel for making their show based in fucking ohio of all places

i’m honestly not picky i love all types of comments, but if i really had to choose, it’d probably be any that point out a specific part or line or whatever in my writing. it makes me so happy when people have some detail stick with them

i honestly haven’t done anything too intense in my writing i think the most out there i’ve gotten is just emotional infidelity and that’s just standard for seblaine. i do plan on killing blaine in one wip of mine, but it’s just an idea for now because i’ve got other shit to focus on

longer stories are literally impossible for me. i absolutely SUCK at writing anything longer than a couple thousand words and even that is hard for me. smut is also hard but that’s because i haven’t bothered to write smut, so different vibes

well if you see how many hurt no comfort fics i’ve published it’s obvious fluff is what i’m best at. but yeah short vignette angsty stories are super easy for me to write. it’s just 50% projection and 50% exaggeration and 100% gay, so no problem there

11. Where do you do your writing? What platform? When?

i often write at home, on my notes app, at any point of the day, and i post all my stuff on ao3. i will sometimes edit on my laptop on google docs, but i get lazy too and so my latest fics have been mostly raw and unedited.

12. What is something you've been too nervous/intimidated to write, but would love to write one day?

smut and literally any ship that isn’t seblaine and also longer works. i’d love to be one of those writers who comes out with these multi chapter masterpieces but i’m just not right now. i’ve had ideas for other ships too, but i never really flesh them out because they’re usually stuff that would span across thousands of words and i don’t have the time, energy, nor skill level to do that yet. and again, for smut, i just never bother, and while i think im never going to be the explicit sex scenes type of writer, i love the angst potential of it

13. What made you choose your username?

acedisgrace is a name i’m like 85% sure i saw a joke about from a stolen tumblr post on instagram and i was like hey im asexual and a disappointment haha what if i change my discord name to that and then eventually when i got an ao3 account, i just went with it because i saw it was available there too. as for calsvoid, they’re my initials and i spew whatever bullshit i want on tumblr and also i wish i didn’t have a body and instead was an amorphous blob of nothingness

6, 7 - 18/11/2023 : (only by a margin coz i was drawing late again) lil human Diesel pen doodles again, this time we're doing the REDESIGN!! almost there anyway. mostly just a redesign of his hair somewhat, also Philip is just there (much like the show (jk i kinda love Philip for no reason other than hes a little guy)) not much to say here other than drawing bad on purpose is fun x

8 - 25/11/2023 : was thinking about book covers, forgot why, but also on the name of my story for Ru, Toni, those fellows, usually i just call it Violet, but i feel maybe its a bit, nothing, idk, like its not catchy enough, so i have another idea of expanding it into You, me, & Violet, and heres a quick mockup of what a book cover for it could look like.. u can tell i got graphic design qualifications from the late 2010s x (shut up i luv this doodle)

9-11 - 25/11/2023 : Robin redesigns.. again.. just some concept doodles, mostly just a change to his hair and his top, i thought adding more colour was essential, so, he'd usually wear like minty green colour trainers, i made those and, by extension, his jumper, the same blue colour, which isn't Too blue, it's still a little bit greeny, very slightly, just for some harmony in his design.. will need to draw more of this concept to really get a concrete final design

ok time to talk about my fav agent ships bcuz i am v normal (also i am a multishipper so i like a lot of stuff)

First off: 4 x 8!!!! my beloveds!!! and they were roommates! i see this sort of a mirror of pearlina in a way since 4 would show 8 around and 4 is also a chaos gremlin(but more competent than pearl in a lot of ways). and 8 rlly looks up to marina i think(pearl too ofc) and i like the idea of marina teasing her like "wow u also have a short squid gf?". also just like.. their dynamic is so everything to me. both of them are so gender like 4 is a boy who is kind of a girl. and 8 is a girl who is kind of a boy. do you see my vision? they are made for each other. and i can see them being like pearlina but in a new era since 8 doesnt have to worry about telling 4 shes an octoling. so both of them can get to know each other and share their cultures in a way that pearl and marina couldnt up until post octo expansion. just like THE PARALLELS OK???? and i dont just like them cuz i also like pearlina. i like them for their own unique dynamic. they just fit together so well. i think they compliment each others strengths and weaknesses while also not being so different that they cant get along.

next: 3 x neo 3. i thought 4 x 8 was underrated... but this??? ig its just cuz 3 has more popular ships and neo 3 is so new. i know a lot of ppl view them more as a mentor situation w neo 3 being much younger. but in my mind i just cannot picture the agents hanging out w 3, 8, and 4 all being late teens/early 20s and then just..... 16 yo neo 3.. it does work sometimes if u view them as like a younger sibling or just the younger one of the group. or even just like.. there. i can see them as an apprenitce of sorts to 3. and thats cool and all but since im not that young and i project on my agents when i play as them in my mind neo 3 is in the 17-19 range. but i see them as 18 specifically. so 18 yo neo 3 and 21 yo 3. and in my mind 3 is kinda silly(have u seen them in splat1?) but trying to be professional and takes a look at neo 3 w all their terrible looking ripped up clothes and questionable hygiene and scavenger swag and goes "how could i not be attracted to that?". and 3 tries not to show it cuz like.. this is their new recruit??? and yet 3 finds themselves going easy on neo 3 andbeing rlly sweet. and callie or marie catches on and probably teases them about it in private. and callie tries to play matchmaker or see if neo 3 likes 3. and on the other end..... neo 3 is probably distracted when they first meet 3. but when they are taking a break at the camp hanging out w lil buddy they finally notice 3. and neo 3 finally takes a look at them. and its like?? not love at first sight like it was w 3. but neo 3 likes them. no offense to agents 1 and 2, but neo 3 immediately lowkey distrusted them since they looked too "pristine" if that makes any sense? so neo 3 sees 3 and is like!!! !!!!! this is my new bestie!!!! and starts becoming attached to 3. and so neo 3 comes to bother 3 at their seat and talk to them and 3 gets so flustered but doesnt show it and only 1 and 2 can tell. and they continue to poke fun at 3. and lowkey try to hint to neo 3. but neo 3 is a brick wall when it comes to sublety. but then eventually they realize they like 3. so they gather a bunch of cool rocks and shiny things off the floor and walk up to 3 and go "here take this and also please be my partner" and 3 is so in love. and they flirt constantly and both of them hate taking showers and have to be reminded to . and also little buddy is their new child (jokingly. i see lil buddy as neo 3s younger sibling) i can see neo 3 coming up to 3 and flirting w them and 3 flirting back and them getting distracted and aro marie coming in to jokingy make fun of them and tell them to get back to work. and when the rest of the agents meet neo 3 they would jokingly get mad that neo 3 gets special treatment from 3.

anyway.... also 3 x 4 x 8 x neo 3..... it is a top tier poly ship. all of them. i think 3, 4, and 8 would get to know each other and date after octo expansion takes place. and then when 3 has to deal w splat 3s story mode they meet neo 3 and fall in love and they meet back up w 4 and 8 and is like yooo..... uhh... what if i just.... expanded the polycule? and the other 2 were like ur literally so swagless (but we love u) how did u do that? and then 3 brings out neo 3 and the other are just like.... oh god theres another one. anyway i think they would get along w neo 3 too and maybe end up dating them as well

ALS MY MOST OBSCURE SHIP YET 4 x neo 3. this one is so good, like both of them are chaotic and goofy. yet 4 is a nerd and neo 3 is probably a war criminal. so like.. opposite sides of the insanity spectrum. they would hang out and neo 3 would ask how bombs are made and 4 would explain it thinking its just curiousity and then look over to see neo 3 contrusting a bomb out of everything around them. and its not like neo 3 is dumb. they are also smart just like.. not in a geeky book smarts way like 4 probably is. more like ... idk how to describe it but different? anyway their dynamic would be SO good. you just have to trust me on this.

Hi there! Sorry I haven’t been active all that much lately. I’ve lately been working on a project, going on vacation irl, and I’ve been juggling art block.

So I’m having a bit of a problem right now in terms of the FNAF Security Breach AU idea… thingie. I’ve been trying to figure out who in babtqftim/IM I should make the main Glamrock animatronics. Because the personalities between the two universes are so different I’m having difficulty choosing. Technically even who I assigned as Sun and Moon wouldn’t have been my first choice. (I would have make cup be moon and mugs sun because of the personalities but I chose the current arrangement because of color scheme. Maybe not my best choice but can you really imagine a blue sundrop and red moondrop? It’s weird TWT) And this idea wasn’t really supposed to be a whole thing but apparently people like this enough to want more so yeah.

So! To fix this problem! I’m gonna ask you guys to vote on the arrangement you thing would work best! I belive the general idea we have is that these personalities are going to be purposefully different and we’ll blame the Vanny virus on the change. “Making them evil” kinda thing ig. Because these animatronics are already themed around different animals and we’re assigning animal characters some characteristics and qualities may change. Idk. We’ll see.

The ideas we have so far are:

1. Bendy as Freddy, Felix as Monty, Boris as Roxy, and Alice as Chika

2. Felix as Freddy, Bendy as Monty, same arrangement for Roxy and Chika

3. Have Boris as Gregory, and Bendy as Freddy, Felix as Monty, Alice as Roxy and maybe Cala as Chika.

4. Do villains from IM with Felix or Bendy as Freddy, and Roxy and Chika as Ava and Sarah. Not sure yet about Monty. Maybe Brute or Reide. Idk. And then try to sprinkle questers throughout the AU somewhere.

5. OR! Rearrange everyone and start over! Including Sunnycup and MoonMug!

With the new release of FNAF security breach ruin some things might change. I don’t know. And I might also be willing to try to include Glamrock Bonnie, Music Man, and some of the other bots in the game like map/security bots and wet floor signs? And maybe Glamrock Foxy? I don’t know as much about them so that’s kinda iffy. We’ll see.

The Problems With My Bedroom: A Saga

Attempt Number 1: When I first moved in i tried having my bed centered on the wall like an adult, The Problem: it's a small room so it took up basically the whole space. the closet is small too so i was able to make drawers for underneath the bed and access them from both sides but the bed was so tall because of the drawers that i needed a step to get up to it which caused the mattress to slide every time i got in or out of bed. FAIL.

Attempt Number 2: i figured no one gets in or our of the bed except me so I don't really need access from both sides so I did this

I pushed it into the corner which i liked better but every time i moved the bed would scoot around, things would fall between the walls and the bed (the number of hours i spent reaching for my phone cord can never be gotten back.) , pillows would sloooowly slip down and push the bed away from the wall, it was a whole thing.

i tried getting things that would keep the bed from skootching away from the wall and they did work but then when stuff still fell it would be even harder to retrieve.

the other problem was that the bed was still up high because of the drawers so every time i'd scoot my butt off the edge, it would pull the sheet off a little bit and after only a couple days I'd have to re-tuck everything. i tried about 20 different solutions for keeping the sheet in place, the only one i found that worked consistently was this thing:

it worked FABULOUSLY but you have to basically flip the mattress over every time you change the sheets so you can reattach all the clips. i did it like 3 times. FAIL.

As i said before the closet is small, so I've used ikea cube things with a back panel attached as drawers to slide under the bed, and that works pretty well except for 2 things:

these are 15 inces deep so my bed frame is 16 when you add the mattress it makes my bed about 30 inches tall so i need a step to climb onto it which means i have to move the step every time i wanna access that set of drawers.

when i originally conceived of the idea my bed was accessible on both sides (see figure 1) so all 4 cubes of each shelf could be accessed fairly easily (the second drawer would only be about 2/3 open but everything inside was still accessible), when it's like it is currently (figure 2) i can access the first 2 cubes no problem, the 3rd if there’s no depression pile or laundry or whatever else in the way (aka: significantly less often than i'd like to admit) and to access the 4th i need to pull it out almost as far as it goes. Now I’ve worked around this by keeping those drawers reserved primarily for seasonal clothes and special occasion items and telling myself that i'll be better about laundry but it’s a work around so its not IDEAL.

Attempt Number 3: now the plan is this:

i flip my bed around and put the pillows end into my closet. the ikea cubes can be stood back up to be used as regular ass drawers as the king of Sweden (probably) intended and which I'll be able to access all of because none of them will be under a bed.

now, eagle eyed readers will have noted that my closet is 55 inches wide, the problem here is that a standard queen bed is 60 inches wide so I'd have to expand the opening a bit which will be a project but I think i can get it done by myself in a weekend or two (or less if I have help) I'll need to do some drywall patching and repaint but there's nothing structural or utilities in the wall so as wall projects go, a pretty simple one. this will take a couple inches of space away from the closet in the bedroom on the other side of that wall but its only my office over there so the only things in that closet are there is crafting supplies which i need to properly organize anyway.

idk what exactly im gonna do with my nightstand and all the shit in there but this isy plan for right now.

Your characters are so interesting!!

hello hi! here’s a couple worldbuilding tips i usually keep in the back of my head when making my oc stuff:

1. don’t be afraid of sounding a lil silly with naming conventions like settings or important objects to your lore!! even if its something like Glitter Rainbow Heart Rock or Meow Meow City that tells the audience that those descriptors hold importance!

2. magic systems are allowed to be convoluted and multi-faceted BUT should still be easy to understand in isolation. i would recommend summarizing your magic system in a short way first and see if it would make sense to someone who’s never heard it before. for example: my demon ocs have special blood that pumps thru 4 magic heart chambers that grant them 4 different abilities.

3. sometimes having super specific dates in a timeline is unnecessary especially if an important event took place thousands of years in the past or if time is measured in a different metric. a timeline can just be the sequence of events by names, like “ancient era” or “the dark ages”

4. keep in mind that you can make as many conceptual ideas as you need! many projects go through development over and over until it forms into the final product, art takes time! if ideas you once liked don’t stick, you can always revise.

5. i’m a big believer that originality is dead and reinvention is the true goal we should strive for in creativity. do you like an idea that your favorite media was able to execute? do you not like how something was executed and feel like it could’ve been done differently? use that! obv just don’t copy an idea in it’s entirety, make it your own and mishmash all your inspirations into something new.

im no professional obv (my brain is just so full of working on my ocs from the shadows for years) but these are stuff i remind myself when making my sillies

I try. Like, especially if someone took the time to write a lot, I try to engage to at least say thank you, because it makes ME really happy when an author responds to MY comments (and assures me I didnt just stick my foot in my mouth or overstep a line or something lol) I have a lot of anxiety about leaving comments because I followed a writer in the Zootopia fandom who was REALLY vocal about how she hated certain comments or commentary, typo corrections or "I've never read this kind of au BUT..." comments and I got REAL in my head about comment etiquette for a LONG time. BUT! Comments and feedback are so vital to me so I try to comment and respond to comments so everyone feels seen and maybe we can make a connection? My Luca fandom friend group is still going strong because we were so incredibly aggressive about supporting one another.

6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

The Apex of a Bad Decision. It's a canon-compliant Outer Wilds, fic, so. :,)

7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

Most of the rest of them! I'm squishy!!! But I think the most obviously and deliberately triumphant one is God Only Knows.

8. Do you get hate on fics?

I don't think I've gotten hate on a fic since I posted Wilbur Robinson self-cest to Livejournal in 2007, when WHY IS THIS GAY was a common response to slashfic. I've gotten plenty of hate for having an online presence while shipping kids or teenagers, but not on the fic itself (that I can recall!)

9. Do you write smut?

Sure! Not often. It's always a character exploration and I know how that sounds but I promise its true! It's always about being open and vulnerable and baring souls and loving and taking care of someone who needs to be loved and taken care of. I don't think I've ever written genuinely horny smut, not that I'd know because I dont really get horny. People (antis) have this idea that everyone is writing smut with one hand down their pants and that we're "getting off" on it and are perhaps ignorant to the fact that sex is not inherently a base filthy thing, its emotional and vulnerable and full of feelings and teenagers have those feelings too and writing about teens having those feelings does not mean I am inherently jerking it to teenagers fucking. Im EMOTIONALLY jerking it to teenagers having BIG FEELINGS. that's different.

10. Craziest crossover?

I've never written a crossover! FUCK I forgot the mystery teens summer. There was a specific summer (*googles* August 2012!) when gravity falls was at it's peak and Paranorman had just come out and tumblr as a hivemind decided Norman Babcock, the Pines twins, Raz Aquato (Psychonauts) and some other kids from various supernatural media needed to meet and hang out, like a much briefer superwholock or rise of the frozen tangled dragons. the big ship at the time was Dipper/Norman. I mightve done a quick ficlet posted to tumblr in that time frame. When summer ended, the phenom ended abruptly exactly as if we had all left summer camp and gone back home.

I didn't think I ever would, but the time jo and I spent doing OC stuff together was a delight, though tbf they did most of the heavy lifting. I don't know if I would do it again...I feel like the OC stuff worked because we built it from the ground up but idk if I could do a fandom thing the same way, what if we had slightly different opinions on a blorbo and I had to COMPROMISE? idk man

14. All time favourite ship?

ohhhhhhhh idk if i can answer that. Whatever I love in the moment is is my otp. The rest simmer on the backburner but whatever the mental illness deems is the priority is the only thing I could ever conceive of loving this much. I think Weblena might have done the most brain damage to me. I wrote the most fic for it, I made the most art for it, I was team weblena for more years than anything else, I endured the most shit for them without giving up. But at this exact moment in time I'm like "those were very nice girls and i loved them very much and I know they made me insane for literal years but surely they dont compare to the truly unhinged mania i feel for sexy anime schoolboy jafar and sexy anime schoolboy sultan of agrabah" (it is the same level of mania, actually)

15. What's a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

idek if i want to finish it but I had a few sunfish (iykyk) drafts kicking around that could have been good. Its a good ship imo and I wanted to get into the whole "I know I've kind of adopted you as my surrogate dad but what if that was a hasty decision and we kissed instead" angle but then I developed a severe case of cringe avoidance and I wont be doing anymore vtuber fic lol

16. What are your writing strengths?

I'm told I do good at characterization which is a relief because when I write I feel like the first stage of any "galaxy brain" meme where I'm thinking in only two dimensions orz Also! Its very flattering but whenever I create an OC to fill a necessary role in a fic people really seem to enjoy them.

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

Action... The boring but necessary filler that gets you from point a to point b.... I can only write in 2nd person and i know I KNOW everyone fucking hates it and people wont even TOUCH 2ndPOV but it flows so EASILY when i dont have to stop and juggle pronouns or even names!!! i feel more thoroughly seated in the POV character's head! it lubricates the process and sometimes I think i only ever get anything done ever because i write in 2ndPOV im sorry!!! Im sorry but I wont change!! its more important that I get the demons out than it is that you read my fic.

18. Thoughts on dialogue in another language?

Sparingly and with Purpose! (<<Bob I'm stealing your answer) (i realize your name is not actually bob but I've been calling you bob in my head for years now sorry) I used italian vocab occasionally in Luca fic because it's used heavily in the movie to create a sense of unfamiliarity for the boys who were trying to integrate themselves into human society but didn't understand most things they encountered. It's soooooo bad when done wrong, though. I'll never shut up about the jamikali fic i opened that had Jamil call Kalim habibi in the first paragraph, I almost threw my phone across the room. Like first of all they don't do that in the source material, any arabic used is very clearly in the context of an "old/ancient language" that no one is speaking on the daily and second of all he would not fucking say that!!!!!

19. First fandom you wrote in?

The Sonic 2 fanfic i tried to write back in 1993 is between me and the lisa frank notebook kept under my bed. My first published-on-the-internet fic was the aforementioned Wilbur Robinson (Meet the Robinsons) self-cest. I went back to ff.net to see if it was still there and if I could rewrite it (it would rule in 2ndPOV actually) but..........its gone. Either it got purged or I purged it myself during the ducktales cyberbullying fiasco. First fandom of current era fic writing was Ducktales. (thank you ducktales for all youve done for me)

20. Favourite fic you've written?

God Only Knows is probably the best thing I've ever written, but picking apart the world building in Outer Wilds for Apex was really fun and rewarding and when I get feedback on it its always (crying emoji) (crying emoji) (sad face emoji) (skull emoji) which is ALSO fun and rewarding but in a totally different way.

1. Original characters

I love my own I love others, I love original characters and story works! It's so fun and personal and exciting, every day I do something related to ocs in some way shape or form.

2. My loved ones

I've been with my wife for 11 years and my boyfriend for 6, I love my family I've made with them! My best friend is apart of this little group in a way that's hard to describe in words. I love my family!

3. Clowns

I've always had a personal connection with clowns and they bring me great joy. I've got a clown figure collection that covers my office and people know me as a clown guy and that's a fine reputation for me.

4. Art and the act of creation

I love making things. I'm at my happiest when I get a chance to create something, be it through writing or painting or sculpting or sewing or any other way I do it, I just adore making things and being creative. I'm always working on several projects at once bc im just so full of ideas all the time!

5. My cats

I have two cats and seeing them every day is a blessing. I've got a large one eyed black cat and a small tortoiseshell. Their personalities are so different but each is loving in their own ways and I couldn't imagine my life without my little fellas.

Valentines day, 4:38 a.m. Viktor is a man of sound reasoning and logic. He is knowledgeable, especially within the scientific field. Hardworking, dedicated– sometimes overly so. Great at creating, building, dissecting, and altering many a creation. Some might call him the most determined man in the world. Some wouldn’t call him a man.

Then again.. There are some moments where he falls short of perfection. Especially when it comes to emotional matters.

“Viktor… don’t you think it’s a little early for this?”

February 12, he hears of the cursed holiday. He’s heard of it before– though, he couldn’t recall a time when he had celebrated it. It had never been at the forefront of his mind, really. When he thought of it– he thought of how, more than anything, it was a rather sad holiday. Did romantically committed people not appreciate their significant other any other day of the year? Were their relationships so dull that they had to create a holiday to make it better? Eventually, with so many years of holiday critique experience, he had forgotten the day’s significance entirely

And so, when the shopkeeper at the local parts store asked, “Any plans for valentines day?”

… he felt… guilty.

Of course he didn’t have any plans. What kind of plans does one make for such an occasion? *do* you make plans for someone you had one wild night with, that also lives with you?

Yeah, you probably make plans for that.

February 13th, morning. Viktor has kicked into overdrive. He’s gone over every option, having made a list of what he assumes women enjoy.

Food.

Everywhere locally is fully booked. Not that he checked… or, at least, not that he would admit he checked. Or that he checked multiple times in case someone had a pre-valentines breakup. Or that he tried to threaten people into canceling their reservations. No, he would never do any of that.

Making food was out of the question– he’s almost positive he gave you long-term food poisoning the last time he made dinner. He didn’t think he was particularly skilled when it came to the culinary arts, but, he didn't think he was *that* bad. Maybe if he practiced a little? Followed instructions to a tee? Still, even with practice, there's no way he could improve past poisoning levels in a day.

Quality time.

The obvious answer, but the all too normal one. The two of you practically spend every day together, working on your latest projects. How could he make this day any different? Maybe a nice stroll through town? No– you’ve seen town far too many times to be impressed by it. Then– maybe a walk by the lake? But you'd probably get distracted and fall in. What if it’s raining? Hell, you'd get a grand idea to try and “collect” lightning, and end up getting yourself killed.

Gift Giving.

It’s so cliche. Obviously, he can’t give chocolates and flowers. That would make him just like everyone else in the world. He’s better than that. It has to be something… unique. Something that has more thought into it. Perhaps something he could easily make within the time constraints.

Yes– this could work.

February 13th, Evening.

You’ve been banned from the lab. You’ve been banned from anywhere remotely near the lab. Essentially, you’ve been confined to your room. He’s been acting off ever since coming back from the shop. On one hand, you’d like to ask him what’s wrong– on the other hand you already know.

And, if he would let you get close to him for just a minute, you could explain to him that you don’t need all the festivities. You’d be perfectly happy just spending the day like any other.

All the while, Viktor is strategically planning how to present this. Grand? Casual? Ack– he has so much trouble with those emotional gift giving ceremonies. Even in childhood, he despised the idea of performing to a crowd of expectant people as you opened up a gift and pretended to be surprised.

Maybe if he just– gave it to you while you were asleep. Then you could wake up and notice it later on. It completely eliminated that unsavory presentation step.

With how stealthy and gentle he’d been, he was sure you wouldn’t wake. For you to come out yelling… well… it startled him a bit too. This was especially evident, judging by the shattering glass sound and flash of light emerging from the claw.

He was gonna need to replace that window… it’ll get drafty in here. You'll get sick. He can't have that.

“Viktor, please, it's so early. It’s WAY too early.”

As much as he hates to admit it, you were right. The stores wouldn’t even open until 10 at the least.

“Would the early afternoon work for you?” he asked.

“I– Viktor, when I said it was too early, I meant like… maybe we should wait a few months?! years, even?!”

“What? No. Why would we do that? Look, we can go 5:00 at the latest. I’d prefer before then, you know it's gonna be crowded.”

He’d walked out after that, leaving you with a ring on your finger and the assumption you’d be going to the courthouse sometime between 12 and 5.

Hello!! First off, you are SO sweet tysm for the kind words <33 I used to SUCK at motivation with writing before so much, so I completely understand! When I was MAJORLY in my fanfic phase years ago I used to burn out so badly so here are some tips!! Also take ALL of these with a grain of salt bc I might work VERY different than you do:

1) Planning!! I typically don't like to plan everything since I like to be spontaneous with my work, but I DO find it helpful to have like bullet points of where u want that chapter to go. For example for chapter 8 had:

-Bi han sparring

-Kuai Liang talk scene

-Madam Bo advice

And that for me helps me have ideas of what to write for and like guage like "oh am I writing what I want to for this chapter?"

2) Don't burn yourself out by writing too much in one sitting? As much as you can get bursts of motivation I learned that don't let yourself carried away by putting yourself in that one burst and then screwing yourself over by just burning yourself out. I also think that doing too much in one sitting also personally wrecks my motivation because for me its like "well that other day I could write 5k in one night why can I barely write 1k now??"

That last tip varies person to person tho?? Like you might not have burn out issues like I may.

3) Write what you feel like! For example, it's REALLY easy for me to write for New Era because it's a little passion project, versus requests where I have a little less direction. BUT sometimes I do have moments where I feel a particular way and those requests are the answer for me since they fit a certain mood I wanna write for. I find that writing what you are really in the mood for, like fluff, angst, etc. Just feels better than just forcing it.

4) Write anyways! I know this will sound contradictory to my last part, but hear me out. Ok so like, a common tip I've always seen is that sometimes the hardest part is to start. But it might help to just put yourself in front of a document and work on it for like a short amount of time at first. Like "oh I'll just write for five minutes" and then you just write. You might end up having the motivation after those five minutes, or if you didn't, you at least got something down which imo is better than nothing!

Those tips are what help me, but again everyone is different so just take my advice and apply it to what suits your needs! Hope you find the motivation to write <3!
