I was quite conflicted if I should colour in Wukong and Mac like in the bapc pic or just go with the simpler shadowplay aesthetic

And honestly? Quite pleased with how it came out

But I still wonder what it'd look like in a different style so you MIGHT see another version sooon!

I will admit, the trees look much better this time. Less like big broccolis and more like trees

And that's cause I used a reference this time, I based them off of peach trees and used the peach/memory flower I designed in my earlier designs for the space outlaw gang only in the shadowplay style

And praise the Lord for copy paste!

It would've taken FOREVER to draw all those itty bitty flowers, although keeping track of the copies in the layers and merging them was a nightmare.

I gave mihou white fur cause its a popular headcanon and it looked pretty, I would assume in intimate moments like this, he'd be able to let down the glamor

Macaque:

✡ Let's say that you two adopted Bai He (aka LBD's host) therefore, the little girl is excited of finally having a baby sibling

✡ Protective, really protective with his children, whenever you and Macaque go on dates he always makes sure that 3 shadow monkeys stay next or close to the kids

✡ He shows the kids some shadow plays, talking about how a cold warrior met a sweet and lovely partner, how they falled in love and in the end they lived happily ever after with two beautiful children

✡ He always joins Bai He and C/N whenever they are playing, pretending to be an evil wizard or a mighty hero saving innocent people, yeah stuff like that

✡ I like to think he would transform into his smoke monster and carry the children in his hand while you are in his shoulder, just giving the three of you a fun ride or just enjoying the view

✡ If any of the kids doesn't feel like going to bed he would tell you: "Don't worry dear, I'll handle this, you rest" and go read them a story

✡ Since he's new at parenting, he sometimes feels insecure about not being a good father so you are there to comfort him telling him that he is doing a great job

✡ In summary, he would be a really protective and caring dad, not even thinking twice to make ashes whoever hurts his little angels

✡ Bragging to Wukong how amazing his children are?? Yes, absolutely

Sun Wukong:

❀ BANDIT HEELER VIBES, tbh I do see Sun being like Bandit from Bluey as a father

❀ That means, he would be a little bit teasing with his kid, asking for password everytime the child wants to go inside any room, pretending to be you, etc, etc

❀ When you two go on dates, he would either call MK to babysit, or use one of his clones to stay with the child while you two are out

❀ But you might want to be ready because most of the times the whole house ends up messy when the other Wukong stays to babysit, little footprints in the ceiling, yeah a total mess

❀ When the child can't sleep, he would start telling them stories of how he saved the world from DBK, how he met his old friends, yeah, stories about him mostly, surprisingly the kid doesn't seem to get tired of those stories

❀ He loves giving the little one piggyback rides, and if you ask for it he would do it to you as well, maybe to brag a little about how strong he is

❀ Protective as well, but not like macaque, hes careful if the kid gets too close to an edge on Flower Mountain or stuff like that, grabbing them with his tail

❀ Just like Macaque, he would brag about his kid non stop to him, like literally every single time he can

❀ The monkeys of the mountain LOVE your child, half of the time don't be surprised to see your kid surrounded by white furred monkeys sleeping like babies

❀ So yeah, Wukong would be a really fun dad, really caring and loving, maybe sharing his peach chips with them because he loves them so much

im newer to the lmk fandom so im curious. I've seen a lot of talk of Macaque having white fur before he died, but it doesn't seem to be canon. Is this a reference from JTTW or just a popular fanon that his fur turned black upon resurrection? Or a mix of both?

Its not exactly canon that Macaque used to have white fur, before he died. So yea, its more or a less a headcanon.

BUT

So I kinda fell down the rabbit hole of white fur six ear macaque art, and it reminded me of something. It reminded me of that 2009 Monkey King movie, since the macaque in that one had white fur, and it also had Sun Wukong with golden fur. So this made an idea pop into my head. What if Sun Wukong originally had golden fur, but over time, it darken for either trauma, depression, not taking care of himself, or all three. And once Macaque is able to look at Wukong with being blinded by hatred and revenge and notice Wukong's fur, he just goes, "What happened to your fur?".

I actually headcanon thing about their fur-

Wukong's mostly changed because of the furnace - it got darker and more rusty in color . In touch it's not the same too , it's stiff n sharp as long as he doesn't care about it

I headcanon that Maccaque had white fur too . But because of his leechy nature n powers and amount of bad emotions with time when Wukong's celestial magic wasn't around it turned black.

If that would b said with hatred n revenge I can see Wukong parry that "What happened with your fur?"

Aight, random headcanon? macaque glamours his entire fur to be either white or black because he doesn't enjoy the 50-50 he he look, and the gang only ever finds out about his 'secret' by randomly bursting in his dojo at a time where he couldn't really give less a shit how he looked. (Which I also headcanon to be a rare event, since he's something of a dress to impress Boujee bitc-)

You know Hit Monkey? Him and Macaque are both Japanese Snow Monkeys (Also known as Japanese Macaques)

had to look that up and it looks neat! but i would say that macaque isnt a japanese macaque like, its cool to have headcanons and if thats a hc u have, thats cool, but its important to me that everyone knows that: 1. macaques fur isnt canonically white

2. even if you want to hc him white, there are white/ very light colored chinese macaque species

3. maq is a demon monkey, he could be hot pink and it wouldnt mean anything about his species

4. if you were just going off physical characteristics, he doesnt have a pink face or a stump tail to be a japanese macaque

it doesnt matter to me if thats a hc u have but its not like, canon in any way. its not rlly a hc i share and the only reason im nitpicky about it is bc its important to not lump all asian cultures together, and maq is very much a figure from chinese mythology. to me, its more likley that hes one of the many species of macaques native to china than one that lives exclusivly in japan, but i aint the word of god or anything

Wukong used to have golden hair, and they weren't even short, they were kinda long too. They mixed a lot with the fur on his back.

He had very messy and puffy hair, i do imagine him having this constant fluffy fur that worked like a coat for him because he was born in a mountain, so his body had to come up with a way to not let him freeze the moment he was born.

(this can apply to the headcanon that stone monkeys are cold blooded.)

his eyes were brown, and he had red cheeks along with the peach mark on his face.

He was pretty short, always has been. Even among monkeys he was one of the shortest.

He was rather jacked because of how many times he trained and played fight with Beng, but his fur only made him look rather chubby.

his skin tone was around olive skin, and his tail was pretty long, it helped a lot because he could wrap it around things so he didn't fall.

he was this ambiguous mystery for everyone.

He was considered both a demon and a normal monkey, he was considered both a female and a male. (More of a female when he became king, monkeys are matriarchal.)

he was considered one of the prettiest monkeys because he hit everyone standard, both monkeys and demons. (That's where the "handsome monkey king" appeared.)

and he was surely considered charming and kind, a saint even. (Even if at first he was seen as a loser because he was a loner.)

He was very privileged because of his looks only.

He was also considered very polite, they often thanked Mami, usually other moms did, to help the kid get comfortable.

the moms knew, just by instinct, that the kid wasn't feral nor a loner by choice, he was just scared.

Macaque instead looked like a demon, because he was, but while for some he looked scary, he mainly looked like a crybaby. Maybe because he was shy, because he was a loner and because everyone noticed how he often tried to imitate wukong to feel confident.

He had white fur, and six ears. Three ears on each side. Each pair had the same color (purple, magenta and blue.), His eyes were purple, which by some, including wukong, were wonderful, like his ears! Which he was made fun of a lot. But if the king said they were beautiful, then they were.

Wukong is known to be awfully honest. (At least on his opinions.)

he wasn't too fluffy like sun wukong, but he had his fur which was enough. He still wore clothes because he felt cold at times and because he's used to them, but they weren't much.

He became as fluffy as wukong during winter though!

he had darker skin, with made his fur show off more because it didn't mixed with his dark skin. But at the same time, he looked good in it.

he didn't have rosey cheeks, but he had a red mark which looked like a mango. Or a peach. Both maybe?

He was fairly skinny, and very athletic. Didn't have the energy to do many things though, that part was for the king. Even if the king was very clusmy, he never stopped running and it was surprising for Macaque.

Actually, the name macaque is from the king himself! None of the monkeys had names so the king came up one for Macaque! One of the few privileged who had names.

Which was macaque (then Liu er), little did the demon knew that the king gave him that name only to call him DIFFERENT names.

What the hell is a microphone?! Macaroni?? MEGALOVANIA?

But coming back to the looks, the demon had sharp nails and teeth. He had fangs but they were longer because of his demon nature.

Everyone either was scared or hated him, which he felt miserable because of that information.

he slowly started copying some of the king behaviors just so he could feel less..hated? He wanted to be as charming as the king!

He tried to be as energetic, but didn't work.

Tried any of the king's duties, but he got exhausted at half of it. How can his king even do multiple of them?!

Tried to be as social as the king, but he ended up crying because he couldn't get himself to talk.

he's trying though..maybe one day he'll be loved just by his king..but at the same time he's jealous..but he also hates himself for it because he can't be jealous of the king, he didn't do anything!

He had so much furr, Mami spent over an hour and half to groom him the first time.

I can only imagine him being kind to everyone equally, but he never thought much about it and just did it on instincts, meanwhile everyone thought he was a charmer

I'm pretty sure Wukong called Macaque with nicknames from day one, didn't even wait to give him a proper name first

Sun Wukong

He's shorter than Macaque (I was drawing him with Ragnarok, my self-insert sona, and he looked so small and now I keep imagining him being the shortest)

Even if he has some muscle I just know he has that chub

Literally the type to gush over anything cute as his tail curls up into a heart shape

Also touch-starved but unlike Macaque he would just go for that hug!

He probably cries when a sad part comes up in a movie/show

His tail curls up like a chameleon's when he's happy/doing

something he enjoys (like eating peaches or hanging out with his friends)

I also think he's dramatic but in a 'lets out a really loud sigh' to get someone's attention

If he drew his own sprites for his game this means he most likely likes drawing and he probably makes comics of himself!!

He totally sees MK as a son!!

I can imagine him throwing a banana peel on the ground one time and later on he slipped on it like characters do in cartoons, then he never threw banana peels on the ground ever again

When sunlight hits his eyes they appear to be more of a red-ish shade rather than golden

Tends to get headaches from time to time after the LBD incident

Macaque

He hates it when it's stormy because of his sensitive hearing and the loud thunder makes him want to curl up in ball; this also counts for any other loud noises like fireworks or being at a concert (especially the really loud ones)

He most likely feels pain in his right eye from time to time

His right eye is also a bit more sensitive to light

He probably likes to hide under blankets

He won't admit it but he likes being scratched behind the ears!! (he just doesn't let anyone touch them either)

He's taller than Wukong and his tail is slightly thicker

The way he draws just tells you that he has an interest in anime..

Probably reads manga too

He's a tall, a bit slim (but also muscular) and timid guy (despite having toughened up during the years I still see him being a bit shy sometimes)

Touch-starved but hesitant about physical contact!! Will most likely allow it after his trust is earned

When he's trying to hide his excitement about something (like if someone coomplimented him) he'll discretely hold his tail to prevent it from wagging

He likes to hang out with Bai He the most and he's her father figure!!!!!!!!! Protective of her

During the day his eyes are their normal golden color and at night they seem to change to purple

After what happened regarding LBD, I imagine that on the right side of his body, his fur would turn white if it came in contact with cold water/weather (like those Barbie's that changed hair color after you dipped them in cold water)

My favorite headcanon for him is probably autistic Macaque, with the white fur being hidden under glamours right behind it (might be obsession with Core AU though lol. Still).

What kind of snake I'd give him? Hm...honestly, probably some type of milk snake just because I like milk snakes lol. Not sure what type. My thing with snakes is I don't know that many of them but the ones I do know I know more about than I have any right to so there's also that lol. I'd give him a milk snake and an infodump.

Definitely Macaque! I love seeing that guy suffer and get tortured and hurt and then get the absolute best hug he can ever get from his loved ones. It doesn't show up in my fics that often but I do love the hc that Macaque used to have white fur but ever since the burning of flower fruit mountain or his resurrection, his once white pearl pelt turns into dark obsidian fur. Another hc I usually have for him in my fics is he has long hair! He's a vain sort of demon (in his first life at least) that he gets really into his appearance and looks so he's always looking pretty and elegant while Wukong is in the corner with sticks and leaves and mud in his fur. Another idea I usually have in my fics is the idea that Wukong murdered Macaque during jttw like no one really knows if it's canon or not but I like to believe it is just cuz of the angst value and their whole relationship being a huge fuck up even tho they clearly love each other I just adore it.
