As expected, the words draw Gale's attention from his book, which he sets aside immediately, his now-freed hand motioning for Astarion to come inside his tent. Astarion easily ducks inside, closing the flap behind him. Gale has a mage light nearby, all the better to read with.

"You're building dependence as much as trust. Do you really want to be dependent on me?" Ah, there it is. Gale's Netherese markings flare to life, glowing a gentle blue, not entirely dissimilar from the Sussur flowers they'd picked together earlier that day. But is it really arcane hunger that sparks them, or is it a different sort of desire entirely? Astarion takes out the amulet and jingles it in Gale's direction, like one might to a dog with a bag of treats. "What will you give me for it?"

It's a game they play at this point. He's never asked for anything serious.

"Anything you want." Gale, it seems, has grown complacent enough in that to make such a grand declaration of trust. Astarion remembers the first time he asked it, and the wizard's guarded response.

Astarion moves closer, sitting down so that he and Gale are at eye level, and holds the amulet in front of him. Gale's markings grow brighter, take on a new hue, but his gaze is fixed on Astarion's, and not on the trinket. With his free hand, he seizes Gale's chin, and the marking grows almost incandescent in response.

What would all that magic taste like, he wonders, if he could consume it the way he does blood? As if to find out, Astarion leans in and puts his lips to the marking right beside Gale's eye. Gale has stopped breathing. Growing more ravenous by the moment, Astarion puts his hand behind Gale's head and trails a series of kisses down his cheek, onto his jaw, his chin, his throat. Gale lifts his chin, there, baring that throat to him all the more, which is certainly curious, though perhaps a matter for another time.

There is magic rippling from the orb, a displacement as well as a consumption, and when Astarion pulls back the collar of Gale's robes, it bursts to life, and he can feel the magic tingling on his skin, dangerous and intoxicating both. Gale's breath is coming in pants, now, and his eyes are wide, hands twisting in his own robes with the strain of controlling himself. "Astarion— please."

But he puts his lips to the orb and lets the magic wash over his face. He can almost imagine what it would be like to absorb it himself. To drink in all of Gale. Delicious.

Abruptly, he pulls back, only briefly making eye contact as he tosses the amulet into Gale's hands and stands up to exit the tent. Yet he can still feel Gale's aching stare upon him as he lays in his own bedroll, listening to the wizard's pants of effort as he absorbs the magic from the amulet.

Naturally though, Changsheng did exactly that. He'd nearly forgotten she'd said anything by the time she divulged her 'prediction.' "Sssomething tellsss me that today isss about to get interesssting."

Baizhu hummed, attention fixed on his work. "Oh? What makes you say that?"

Her answering snicker came from directly above him. He paused as Changsheng dropped onto his shoulders so he wouldn't spill anything. "You'll sssee sssoon enough," was all she said as she adjusted her coils, and the doctor shook his head fondly. With her affinity for the vague and riddled, sometimes Baizhu wondered if his companion wasn't some long-lost adeptus in disguise.

Minutes passed with only the scrape of the pestle along the cauldron's base to fill the silence. Then footsteps sounded on the stairs leading up to the pharmacy—but there was something...unique about them. Not just a rhythmic tap-tap of shoes on pavement, but with an additional tone layered in unison. Metal on stone. Tap-tapclink.

That could only mean...

Ah. Well, in all fairness, Changsheng was rarely wrong about these things.

Baizhu didn't look up until the steps arrived in the entryway. To anyone else, the sight of a man clad in all black, gazing into their shop with such intent, sharp eyes may be cause for alarm. But Baizhu simply smiled, hands pausing to give his newfound visitor his undivided attention.

"Why, Kaz, what a pleasant surprise. How nice to see you." Likely not a sentiment heard often, but it was entirely sincere. He pointedly ignored Changsheng's muttered 'I told you' that tickled his ear. "Is there something I can do for you? Oh—unless you're here for your 'prescription'?"

The code word was second-nature despite there being no one else in the pharmacy to overhear. With a grin so pleasant adorning his features, the doctor certainly appeared to be speaking of a legitimately prescribed medication, rather than the special-ordered poison that currently sat fermenting on his kitchen counter. "It's nearly finished, but I'm afraid it needs another hour or so to infuse for maximum...potency." There was a dark edge to the chuckle that rolled in his chest. "We must be sure it's strong enough to take care of the problem, mustn't we?"

I speak from complete honesty when I say that I wish I didn't have to come to this, but the situation here due to the economic crisis seems to just get worse each day, and we strongly fear that regardless of the outcome of either country's elections around the corner, the possibility to leave to the USA and work for a better situation than here will be cutted entirely from our possibilities. This week I spoke longly with my father and we got to the conclusion of saving and helping as much as everyone can to help him appeal for a parole, stay with trusted relatives in Miami, and work to help things over here a little better.

I'm currently working trying to keep things at bay as much as possible. But my relatives at Miami estimate that in order for my father to emigrate safely we'll need At least 8 Thousand, not to mention all the external spends in basic services, food, and others in the meantime we save as much as possible to help him move in the nearest future before the elections of either country

You think I don’t know how much work it takes to implement something like that? Here he paused briefly, squinting into middle-distance as if actually attempting to count in his head. But before he could continue his barely-coherent rant, the world lurched around him when he spun on his heel. Rhys tripped over himself and stumbled directly into Timmy’s chair—and while he miraculously caught himself before hitting the floor, he still fell halfway on top of Timothy in a flurry of flailing limbs. By the time his head stopped spinning enough to process which way was up again, he was awkwardly perched semi-on Timmy’s knee and semi-on the armrest. One hand clung to the back of the chair like a lifeline.

“Haaa—whoo, wow, alright, Iiii am…way too drunk right now.” And he was supposed to be the big, cool, head-honcho-of-Atlas. Rhys laughed at himself, free-spirited and floaty. “Whyyy did you let me get so drunk?? I have an earnings call at ass-o’-clock in the morning, you’re the woooorst.” And yet he buried his face in the crook of Timmy's neck and nuzzled him affectionately, so how effective was his whining, really?
