Well... i finished both snootgame and volcano high, i needed to talk a bit about them

First of all: I LOVE THESE CHARACTERS SOO MUCH, FANG I LOVE YOU I HOPE TO YOUR HAPINNESS

2:. . .jeez, it's so difficult talk about both games without making parallels or comparing them

SG is a very simpler visual novel with a... very questionable reason to exist to begin with, but even with that it surprises you with a very beutiful story of self development and young love in the modern times. The multiples endings all of them are EMOTIONAL DESTROYERS, even the obvious joke-shouting-super edgy ending 1, but just 'cause all the care and love you have for the characters, you feel it in a more deeply way and you suffer watching them like this, giving you strenght to do the best ending possible and. . .oof, that destroys you too, but in a different way

I love Fang an Anon soo much, i wish them nothing but hapinnes

And talking about the elephant in the room? Well... i don't think snoot game is anti-LGBT propaganda

Yes, anon is openly an ashole about lgbt themes and always talked shit about it

And the game treat the whole fang(they/them) with humor. . .both of those things happens between the first hour and the bad ending

As the game progress and anon makes the RIGHT choises you can see him at least try to comprenhend the pronouns thing, and perhaps he makes mistakes about it,but he get that is something important to fang

And yes, there's an ending where fang simply leaves behind all that identity and becomes a generic femenine wife? That's not the true ending

The true ending actually respect that side of fang, with her still liking that style,style being like that, still being fang, the only thing she doesn't keep is the pronouns

To me at least, fang's story isn't just about being no-binary. But being a young person trying multipples sides of their persona and life to try and found itself, with the help of the ones who cares about them to grow as a person

Fang could be a She,a he or them, and i would be perfectly fine with any of those

But if at the end she found herself more happy in this new version. What's the problem? If precisely that's the goal with this theme right?

BUT.... snootgame have a very heavy sin to carry and is. . .it's a 4chan game, and is a parody made to make fun about an openly pro-LGBT+ game

Even with how good the story is, with how NG never attacks directly the community and the movement, it's very hard to believe there's no bit of bath fait in the people behind

We still have all this early shit-talking about this theme after all

But having all in mind. . .i just can't hate snootgame, with it short experience it turned those characters in a very big part of my life (at least for this month lol), and the story touched me in various levels 'cause personal reasons (let's just say i had a "trish" in my life)

And well. . .thank you cavemanon for this very beutiful experience, i'm hoping your next project can shine your talent even more without so much controversy around it

I really wanted to enjoy it, i really wanted to love this version of the characters and the story but. . .fuck, i can't

Almost all the characters are soo flat (personality i mean)

All and everyone of them talk about ona (1) thing that they like and never shut up about it, you can be talking about anything else and- OH here's comes trish to talk about her worm. . .again, or sage and their cooking, or fang and their band. . .i get it, they're character traits and you need to use them but... i don't know these people, i don't know at all these characters at all.

In the first hald of the game you need to at least try to tell me something about them, their relationships, their past and problems, give me a reason to give 2 and a half shit about them... and they try, but everytime they talk and seems to be about to give some context they start to just talk about that one and only thing they like, leaving me with nothing to work with

And that's the problem of volcano high in general to me. Is obvious there's a story, there's a background to these characters and there's real context to almost every conversation they have. . .but we don't know it, we can't see it, we don't KNOW these people and is frustrating. After the 2 hours i just shuted down my brain and every time this happend i just go "oh yeah,some cute experience we don't know about them)

The two musical montages (there's 2 right?) With photos of the group living their lives and interacting with each other. . .they're very cute and seems to be fun, but we don't live any of this. Fuck sake i WANTED TO BE SAD in the ending, i wanted to feel the characters and their lives sliping away at the end

See al these beutiful and impactful moments? Well. . .i'd love to see them, to live them with them

But we don't. They're just a bunch of PNGs passing by at the end as the music continues. And that upset me a lot...

And what upset's me the most. . .you know why i care so much about the characters? Why i need to know their lives and feel something in this story?

BECAUSE OF FUCKING SNOOT GAME

They made me to care about fang and the gang, abour nazer, about naomi, about stella and rosa, i cared about this characters soo much that. . .i feel attatched to the GVH ones too. Even if volcano high do close to nothing to make me care for them at this level

It's to sad and so unfair, volcano high obviously was made with a lot of heart and they OBVIOUSLY cares about the characters a lot more than almost anyone in both fandoms, just the "memories" from above show it. But with the game story and characters as they are right now. . .i don't want to compare them so much, but honestly without NG being so important i wouldn't finished volcano high

And about the story itself? Well... is very rushed to say at least

As i said earlier they spent too much time trying to made us meet the characters (but without letting us know them)

To sudenly introduce the meteorite plot and. . .it feels zero important. Yeah it drives the characters to the harsh decisions they're making and how they interact with each other, but for half the game the meteorite is just there in the background and just mentioned over here and there as a reminder. Just to sudenly be the most important thing in the world at the last hour and half of the game.

Before that all the plot is about fang,the band and the battle of the bands (wich i hardly care about at this point)

But. . .fang and the band? Here they made it a very good work

Yeah, fang talk almost exclusively about the band as is their (1) personality trait, but still they manage to make me feel and understand how important is this to them, and. . .wow, i really felt how fang was feeling reed and specially trish leaving them behind and not taking the band seriously (and still having fang at the edge with promises of being a team but without helping them AT ALL)

I mean, there's no problem with reed and trish don't seeing the band as something more than some fun friends time after school and wanting to make something else for their life. The problem is they seeing fang talking 24/7 aboud the band their future together and openly taking life decisions about it and never saying "hey pal, i think you should focus more in a solos career, we don't want to live with the music but we're still friends" or something like that. . .and they do

Trish says this to fang. . .in the battle night, just in the most important night in fang's life, just to say that she's leaving the band in this very important moment and taking choises she never discussed with fang (as fang did talk with trish about theirs)

And the story insist on pointing out fang as the bad person here, who makes all the bad choises and burn all the bridges with everyone. . .but they doesn't

Even at the end with everyone crying and yelling each other, is fang who talk to everyone and says they're a horrible person and you can blame everything on fang because. . .reasons? Idk because with all the choises and talking options we taked at this point, we clearly made fang a very patient and caring person, but still there's one and only way the story was made and was with fang being constantly a bitch with everyone, so it doesn't matter if you take the bad or good options to talk about 6 hours, the dialogues are all about the bad ones almost constantly. And that's fucked and unfair for my dude fang the pterodolphin, i love them so much

But. . .not everything is bad with volcano high

The background arts are beautiful and very colorful, a lot of cute dettails and i love them

The characters? Well. . .it's weird, i love them a lot and they're very unique, in the special images and animations they look soo good

But in the normal gameplay...

They look kinda derpy all the time, and the few animations they constantly use for everything get repetitive after a short while (take a shot everytime trish does the eyebrow rise grin animation, tell me how you died)

The art style in general of the game is very cute and i love it, but for the in-game animations they needed some more time to make them. . .feel alive and les akward

And the music?

Hell yeah this is good shit, i love fang's voice and definitely i'm gonna check more of their music soon

In conclusion...

I can see where all of this came from, if that leaked script is real it just makes soo much sence about how the final product ended,i can see every original plot being planted as seeds in the final game but never having the chance to grow or even blossom, just a little sapling in the dirt, and that make me so sad. . .

Even with all of that,they managed to launch the game,and leaving out all the controversy i think the game got very descent sales and everything was kinda worth, i really hope they don't give up again with this type of story

But Ko_On and cavemanon are full of talented people and they deserve a chance to grow and shine by themselves

Both without being a perhaps-bad-faith parody, or without so massive backlash from the wrong people who's not are even interested in the quality but the politics in the games

ohmygod . ohmygod!!!!! okay so (idk how much you know so im gonna start from the beginning)

television of the 20th century was filmed in whats called the 4:3 aspect ratio (4 units wide by 3 units tall). basically it was more of a square because people's tvs were fat and square shaped (see above). and! basically the 4 to 3 aspect ratio forced actors together to fit in the frame which is how you get scenes like this (from Sports Night, 1998)

they have to practically sit in each other's laps to be able to fit in the frame!

whereas, around the turn of the millennia mark, when people started having "widescreen" hd tvs, the aspect ratio changed to what movies where filmed in, aka 16:9. and now everything is in 16:9 because everyone has hd/widescreen tvs AND watch tv on their laptops (also 16 to 9)

but 16:9 is sooo spread out you have spacing like this from the americans

now the americans is a bit of a poor example because its a show that uses so much negative space stylistically, but you get the picture. there's just sooo much extra room in the 16:9 ratio, that pushes the actors apart and we dont get that fun closeness of the 4:3

now! seinfeld (and mash, and other famous, digitally remastered shows of the 20th century that are available on streaming) is really where the rubber meets the road. because seinfeld (among others) was FILMED in the 4:3 ratio, but when it was digitally remastered for netflix it was TURNED INTO the 16:9 ratio, so the actors are all tacked together, but when you watch it (on netflix) theres all this unused space around the actors (THAT YOURE NOT SUPPOSED TO SEE! THE DIRECTOR DID NOT INTEND FOR THE AUDIENCE TO SEE THAT!) i cant prove it cus i cant screenshot netflix anymore but you can really see it when the four of the them are in the frame in jerrys apartment and you can also see his desk and his kitchen. basically its just a version of the show we were not meant to see and it BOTHERS ME. most egregious is the episode "the pothole" where in the original 4:3 theyre looking down at it but in the netflix version you cant see it!!!!

what was i talking about? oh yeah okay so basically television used to be filmed in a square and the actors had to sit in each others laps to be able to be in the frame at the same time and now television is all stretched out and theyre like, miles away from each other. i hope this helps<3

I watched ATSV again in theaters and noticed some interesting things:

Gwen's dad at the beginning wears a Vision Academy sweater. Not only that, he's in the gymnastics group. This means that Vision not only exists on Earth-65, George has entered it. Maybe it explains how Gwen knew how to blend in so well. And that she chose to take ballet lessons because of her father.

When Miguel's universe was falling apart, not only he but Peter B. and other spiders were there. It gives extra weight to the whole Society thing. It's not just a sad story a random guy told, it was a catastrophe witnessed by several of them. I don't blame them for believing so much.

Peter and Gwen have known each other since they were 4, assuming she's 16 and George's speech after his death says he's known Peter for 12 years.

A spider person having their Sense Triggered when someone they love is not themselves in danger is not new. Miles felt his father falling at the beginning of the film. Pav felt Gayatri on the bus. But what is abysmal is that Gwen's felt between dimensions. In all other cases, they were from people present in the same space and dimension. So that says a lot only about the love she feels for Miles (and also about her spider sense.)

I actually notice that shirt on my last viewing! I cannot believe it took me this long to realize.

Funnily enough, my first thought when I saw this is that Gwen was Vision's and this was a shirt in support of her. But considering how faded this looks, your explanation makes more sense since I really doubt Visions Academy has lower classes than middle school.

Though not gonna lie, I found funny the idea that the visions in Gwen's world may be just another run-of-the-mill school, just to appear in Miles's world and be like "why did he get the nice version?"

This one we are going to wait for the HD version of this movie because I had a hard time finding a frame where I could kind of see them let alone be clear who they are.

I still need to finish that analysis, but honestly the organization as a whole works in some ways that upon reflection, not only I am not surprised they believe it, I'm more than anything horrified how no one realized how nuts the place was getting.

Good eye! I haven't noticed this one myself, and again, I had seen this movie several times. In my defense, sometimes the audio is hard to catch and I had issues catching stuff at it is. I really need to get a good version of this movie with subtitles.

But this is cool! It really goes to show how important was Peter for Gwen, they really had known each other since forever and I can't imagine not just how much it hurt Gwen losing Peter, but her needing to get used to reality of not having around after doing so for so much of her life.

Goddammit when I thought Peter and Gwen's tragedy couldn't get worse-

Do you see this bullshit, your majesty? Seriously, I'd like to know your opinion, because I don't think it looks very good. Basically, it seems like a truncated and simplified version of the 2002 French miniseries with Christian Clavier, and that one already suffered from having to cut corners in terms of time allotted to various historical events...

Yup, I definitely think it’s going to be oversimplified. Napoleon deserves a 10 hour series *minimum* to get anywhere close to grasping the whole scope of his life and legacy. But they can’t really do that with a single film 😅 Unfortunately, I think they have to cut a lot of stuff.

I have a lot of thoughts about this trailer.

About Napoleon:

I’m not sure why he’s mumbling so much. It seems like the actor is intentionally acting stiff and I don’t know why. Napoleon was described by his contemporaries as “energetic” and “electric”. Not mumbling and rigid. He should be very charismatic.

My guess is that the reason they are depicting him in such an emotionless way is because they want to portray him as a tyrant who doesn’t have any remorse or feelings and only cares about power. But I’m hoping they show more to him and his character in the actual film. Fingers crossed.

His age is wayyyyy off. He should be in his 20s, the age he was in the 1790s. 34 when he became emperor. Not 50s or whatever the actor is. That’s the age Napoleon was when he died.

About Josephine:

Okay I have a lottttt of thoughts but I feel that I need to see the film first before I make any judgements. First off, I like the actress they casted a lot (despite the fact that she’s younger than the Napoleon actor). I’m really intrigued with how they are characterizing her. I like that they are not depicting her as completely submissive and without any influence. I was worried they would try to portray her as powerless, which I don’t think she was. Instead it seems like they are doing the exact opposite. I had difficult time understanding everything in the trailer, but I think Josephine in the film told Napoleon that he was a “little brute that would be nothing without me.”

Um…… that’s an interesting take.

There’s a lot of little things I’m curious about, such as the depiction of Brumaire, the pyramids, etc. I guess we have to wait until it comes out to see those scenes in its entirety though. I’m also really excited to see their depiction of Talleyrand!!

The cinematography is really cool!! I noticed some shots which match real life paintings, which I love! 😊😊

The trailer actually gives me some hope that it might be a really good film despite the issues. I am hopeful but cautious! If it ends up being bad, at least we will have some more aesthetic shots to enjoy lol

Ok so ok the advent of the 60th I had an absolute crazy idea on how to do a 60th Anniversary series of Doctor Who while Flux was still airing. And it involves Paul McGann.

In my mind, Flux ends with Tecteun winning. She didn’t die. The Flux, The Ravagers, Division, its all been a manipulation by Tecteun to usurp all of Time Lord society, to no longer be The Other. Rassilon is dead and Omega’s anti-matter universe collapsed during The Time War. She has a race bank of Gallifreyans and is going to the new universe, relatively young, to dominate and rule. 13 is trapped, beginning to regenrate. Yaz and Dan are far away in a seprate cell. The Flux and The Ravagers consume the last of the universe, and The Doctor has lost….END CREDITS

NEXT TIME: The trailer is 4:3. The picture is softer, the music isn’t surround sound and not as grandiose. Paul McGann and New Companion (NC) step out of the TARDIS onto a new world, and the effects look decidedly 90s. Season 27 would begin airing in 2022.

What follows would be a series of NuWho length episodes that would begin as a sort of “What if Paul McGann series on BBC in the late 90s.” As the episodes go on we see more and more…paradoxes. Dhwan!Master keeps showing up, not attacking but not helping, trying to get 8’s attention. Moments flash and the picture goes back to HD. Skull-like objects in the background of various episodes seems to follow the camera with their eye sockets. In the final episode of the “Season,” reality breaks down. 8 starts seeing the camera, the production staff, the sets, the lighting. Staff call him Paul. The TARDIS is just a prop. He runs for the stage door…waking up elsewhere on Tecteun’s massive universe ship (the ship would be a lot bigger in my version), and Dhwan!Master is standing over him, alongside the Fugitive Doctor…and Richard E. Grant as the Shalka Doctor.

NC was just the Master trying to bring 8 out of the end of the universe and space and time. He stowed away and realized that Tecteun’s success would mean his and the Doctor’s ultimate demise. Him, 8, Fugitive, and Shalka team up as paradox energy threatens to tear the ship apart. Shalka and 13 can’t exist together, but he’s here, because the universe is collapsing in on itself. Derek Jacobi is also here as Shalka Master. 13 is caught in a looping regeneration. Not allowed to die but not able to be reborn. Fugitive goes to free her. Shalla Doctor goes after Yaz and Dan, 8 and the Masters storm the bridge.

Tecteun wanted to rule and wanted to eliminate her biggest enemies and regrets, as well as an opponent who would be detrimental to Time Lord survival. The Master is the real Timless Child, the Doctor as the TC was a ruse by Tecteun to motivate him to kill the Time Lords for her. The Doctor was the first successful TL who she was able to grant regeneration to. She had hoped to use them but both grew beyond her. Dhwan!Master is enraged and broken. Shalka Doctor returns with Yaz and Dan. Fugitive rescues 13 but is hurt in the process. 13 is dying but still slowly. Big fight. Fugitive and 13 turn the ship around and navigate the paradox energy storm. Shalka Doc, realizing that he can’t exist, alongside Shalka Master, scarifice themselves and their TARDIS to do a “restore from backup” on the universe. Fugitive disables Tecteun and then goes off to regenerate into 3. 8 pilots the ship into the protection of Gallifreyan space with the Master’s hell…before waking up in his TARDIS with no memory of the events…same as usual.

13 wakes up in Gallifreyan hospital. Romana is standing over her. The actions of her and her other selves have averted destruction. Tecteun has been tried and will be executed. The universe is put back to roughly pre-Flux state, but the enemies of the Doctor are fewer in number, Romana is president again. 13 will have enough time to send Dan and Yaz off and say goodbye, and the TARDIS has been given an overdue tune up. 13 says goodbye to Dan, then Yaz. Then regenerates.

Back on Gallifrey, the people are celebrating a festival in the Doctor’s honor, the Master sits in a cell, voluntairly in TL custody to process the hurt Tecteun caused to him and the Doctor. Somewhere in the shadows of the festival, two figures in skull masks and black clothes watch, plotting. The other enemy Tecteun wanted to get rid of has inadvertnetly returned. Their Grandfather caused and averted a paradox of such proportion that it dragged a monstrous enemy back from the dead. Faction Paradox has been reborn, and lie in the shadows, plotting and waiting.

Kaiju Week in Review (June 25-July 8, 2023)

I picked a bad time to skip a week lol

Ultraman Blazar, the 35th entry in the Ultra Series, has made the scene. Episode 1 throws us right into a battle between humanity and a space monster. Blazar's the pushy type, all but forcing Gento to transform, but he doesn't speak Japanese—just yowls. For now, that makes him the show's central mystery. The show's defense team, SKaRD, won't actually form until the next episode, at which point we should have a better sense of it. But I'm intrigued so far.

Free streaming TV service Pluto TV has added a Godzilla channel. It boasts, or should soon boast, all of the Japanese Godzilla films minus King Kong vs. Godzilla and Shin Godzilla, plus Rodan, all the Mothra movies, The War of the Gargantuas, Godzilla (1998), and Godzilla: The Series. A Blu-ray.com user has composed a detailed rundown of the versions of the films used—short version, nothing we haven't seen before apart from a few small changes.

I got to see Ruby Gillman, Teenage Kraken before its official June 30 release date thanks to Regal's Monday Mystery Movie series. I guess I didn't retain much memory of the trailer, because it surprised me how early in the film the title character first grew into a kaiju. I can't give it an especially enthusiastic recommendation—comparisons to Luca and Turning Red are inevitable and don't flatter Ruby at all. But I get a kick out of seeing kaiju in such alien territory as a hyperactive animated kids' movie, and they continue to show off their flexibility as metaphors (Ruby is plainly neurodivergent). 7 outta 10.

Nimona dropped on Netflix the same day, and that's one anyone reading this column should sprint to watch. It saves its kaiju for the third act, and I've held off on posting much about that part of the story yet, but trust me, Ishiro Honda would be proud.

After years of lackluster Gorgo home video releases, Vinegar Syndrome seems poised to finally do it right in 4K Ultra HD. (If you're like me and don't have a way to watch such discs yet, don't worry, it comes with a Blu-ray.) New scan, new audio commentary, special features both new and old, and a killer cover. For those unfamiliar with the company, note that this release is "only available on [the Vinegar Syndrome] website and at select indie retailers. Absolutely no major retailers will be stocking them."

Every episode of Chibi Godzilla Raids Again is now subtitled, a fine excuse to get acquainted with one of the Reiwa era's biggest surprises. No stakes, no budget, just a bunch of Toho's biggest stars acting like a bunch of fools.

There's always more Godzilla toy news than this column can hope to cover, but a few highlights:

Bandai's ever-expanding Movie Monster Series will release Gamera 1965, Gyaos 1967, and Battra larva later this month. The defunct Daiei Kaiju Series last offered a Showa Gamera in 2006, and never covered any of his foes from that era; here's hoping Gyaos is the first of many.

Hiya Toys now has the license to produce figures from the Toho Godzilla films, not just the Monsterverse.

Super7 will be selling ReAction figures of Godzilla chomping some helpless people on a subway train at San Diego Comic Con. They just get it (and hopefully the many of us who aren't going will have some way of getting it that doesn't involve scalpers).

The new unit in Godzilla Battle Line is Monster X/Keizer Ghidorah. The former evolves into the latter after his first death. Keizer is a heavy hitter with a twist: he regains 20% of his health with every defeated foe. Great against swarms, but you don't see too many of those these days.

Believe it or not (many are still in denial), but Pacific Rim turns 10 on Wednesday. Thankfully, per this Tweet from director Guillermo del Toro, the effective start of the Kaiju Renaissance (and one of my all-time favorite films) won't go unrecognized on its first big anniversary. I'm guessing a cast reunion?

i started replaying ff7 remake while ff14 is down today and i'm so. hmmm.

on the one hand, i think there's a lot of interesting stuff in it. i love how it expands the world — ff7's world is one of my absolute favorites — and i really loved seeing midgar in more depth. the characters are also all true to how i remember them from the original game, especially barret. (i was so worried that ff7r would forget that barret is the deuteragonist for a significant portion of the game, but thank goodness it didn't.)

on the other hand... i still wish it was a remake, man. i get that they wanted to do something new and different, and i can appreciate that, but... i wanted an HD version of the game, not... whatever the hell it is we got. really, i should have known my hopes were dashed when sephiroth showed up in the first hour of remake.

i'm excited for rebirth as its own thing, but i'm also like... i can't view this as a re-imagining of the original game, it's its own thing. which is fine and there's a lot of interesting stuff in that decision, but it's not what i wanted, you know? still, it's what we're getting, so i've no choice but to accept it.

the game is beautiful though. i'm playing it on my PS5 now and it's absolutely stunning, i'm sure rebirth will be just as gorgeous. not that i think it looked bad on the ps4, but it's extra pretty this way.

last post i just reblogged reminded me i never remembered to post these silly lil photos i took on here...ever since i had to quickly get a new phone from my other one's (rip iphone 6s and my beautiful beloved Standard Analog Headphone Plug....we had a good run old friend...........) screen literally bubbling up like it was going to actually explode from internal heating if i kept using it i now have a super cool high quality camera lens situation that i hope to be able to use for my various diy art projects and stuff but its still been less than a month since i've has this model phone and its the first like. modern within two years or so high tech camera i have ever owned in my life and i grew up in the pre-phone camera era of handheld digital cameras for broke aspiring photographers so its been very exciting for me to test things out and look at settings (i can allegedly take photos & videos in literal 4k HD with this camera lens system according to the quality options in the system settings which is. absolutely mind boggling to me in a good way i cant believe i have a camera in any format that has the potential to capture things to that extent!!!)

anyways all of that to say that i'm obviously very out of touch with how any of this modern high tech high resolution works as of now, but i picked this version of this phone model specifically because it gives me a lot of opportunities to hopefully have more personal, accessible control over visual photo/video art and editing and filming etc etc but since i haven't had a chance to really learn how to utilize everything the way i want to yet, i've been having fun taking 'portrait mode' photos in the meantime just to try and get the hang of one feature at a time, and a week or two ago when i had my Weekly Day Outside Of My Home For Therapy Appointment, one of my moms and i decided to take a drive just for the heck of it to get some air and see the world.

all of this. again. to say. here are some portraits i took of my beloved soft fluffy chicken bag (his name is Lestat de Poultrycourt 😌) while sitting in the passenger seat and cracking up with one of my moms over how hard i was trying to pose him in a way that did not show my hands like a muppet operator. i am 99% sure at least one of these pics will end up being used by me as an album cover for a song at some point in the future so look forward to that. fjshdhsgshsgshsvsh

Well that Silent Hill announcement was ... something.

I mostly dislike Christophe Gans's SH films because of how they interpreted and portrayed Alessa and the less I say about his Resident Evil films the better. The man has...a not great track record for adaptation. But he seems to love psychological horror, so a SH2 film adapation might work better than 1 or 3 regarding the Order. James's story may be better suited for an arthouse horror director like him than the other games and stories, yk? Then again Gans could never write James accurately since he had to change Harry to a woman in the films because a man? Showing concern and emotion and fear while looking for his daughter? Ewww no change him to a woman, that's too feminine. Yeah nvm this movie is going to suck.

SH2 is my favorite game ever made and even if i did have a PS5 I would never buy any remake of it without making damn sure it's worth it. I don't care that Ito is involved even though I'm glad he is, but after the HD collection shitshow I'd only ever buy this thing for Steam after pirating it and making sure it's not a waste of money and hope.

That said, I think that this remakes voice acting is already better than the HD version of SH2. And with Ito on staff as well as other original staff there working with Bloober, I'm really hoping that the same mountain of mistakes and fundamental misunderstanding of the game from the HD version can be avoided. Bloober's biggest weakness is their writing and stories are shit, but they seem to get the aesthetic and feel of this series down. With the original staff there to keep them in line, I think it'll turn out OK. I mean SH2 doesn't need a remake or remaster and is perfect as is. But if you want to remake it, then sure this looks like it'll be fine I guess.

Ascension is a fucking stupid concept and I hate everything about it but hopefully the monsters will look cool.

Townfall's teaser didn't make me feel much, but the name's not making me optimistic. Neither is the dialogue/monologue, but then again it's just a teaser.

Easily the BEST new installment we got from this is Silent Hill f. I'm curious about how a series set in this one town in America can have any canon connection with the Japanese village in f, but given how much Homecoming fucked up the origins of Silent Hill in the first place I wouldn't be mad if it's something totally unrelated. The cutscene was gorgeously horrifying, and I never expected to see Ryukushi07 writing/directing a FUCKING SILENT HILL GAME but I trust the man when it comes to cool horror visuals. He sucks at writing in general and the game doesn't look or feel like Silent Hill at all, but it's the most unique and interesting so that's smth I guess

In the end it's painful to me that it's hard to get excited for a remake, film, and new statues/figures and installments of my favorite game series ever made, because the company that owns the IP is such shit and has ruined a lot of what made the original series good in the first place. Still, I'm cautiously interested. I'm sure the SH consoomers going "ZOMG MORE SILENT HILL YAY TAKE ALL MY MONEY" will be happily fed for a while, but in my mind this series is still dead and has been for a while 🤷‍♀️

i felt a bit guilty at first when i watched the leaked clips because i saw some people mentioning that the creators never gave permission to have the pilot posted, but once it was confirmed that it wasn't going to get used, i felt a little weight fall off my shoulders.

and i did like it ! i loved it actually. a lot. but i completely understand if that's not the direction miss becks n' joe were aiming for. i'm very happy they did end up finding the vibe they were trying to go for and the new show has been a success so far. it would have been pretty sad if they spent so much time into a product only for it to get big but they all secretly hated it. that sounds like every artists' nightmare.

i do agree with you in the hopes that maybe someday a full HD version will get posted somewhere ! i know the pilot is probably sitting in some legal limbo with the old production company, and it's highly unlikely for it to ever be seen again, but a guy sure can dream, ey.

Legend of Mana Episode 2 Thoughts! (spoilers for this episode)

It's much more fast-paced than the first episode, but still has a lot of sweet little interactions between Shiloh, Pearl and Elazul! Really like how their friendship is shaping up.

As usual, it's really so neat that how faithful they are to the game. Mekiv Caverns looks gorgeous, of course! They made sure to use those spiral rock formations.

But some neat little details I also noticed - the fact that Pearl crouches down when she's surrounded by the enemies, is, in fact, accurate to the game! She has no combat capabilities as a companion character, and her only skill is to use Crouch - which is what she does! It's a good thing Shiloh comes swooping in (with what looks like a reference to the flip kick and spin attack skills too!)

And now we get to see just how good Pearl is at wandering off - poor Shiloh and Elazul sure had a tough time of it.

It also might be unintentional but if not, it's really hilarious to me that Elazul gets knocked out by Du'Inke earlier than Shiloh because...companion characters have AI that's dumb as rocks lol. And they will be defeated a lot, especially if the boss has lots of area attacks! I'm so sorry, I do really love this game, but you pretty much have to do the heavy lifting in order to actually kill the bosses and stuff. It might be a bit tweaked in the HD version because I did notice my pets there are more competent in actually targeting enemies.

I know it might seem disappointing that Shiloh and co. were unable to defeat Du'Inke, but it makes sense given the narrative - Shiloh hasn't really explored all that much and so is fairly new against fighting tougher monsters. Props to Blackpearl for saving their sorry butts though lol. She makes a heck of a light show - which is also accurate to the game, whenever she and Pearl shifts forms they also let out rays of light.

I still rather wished they kept Blackpearl secret like in the game, but it would have been harder to pull off in an anime.

I'm a bit surprised it was Elazul who outright says he's a Jumi. I wouldn't have expected he would tell Shiloh about it given how guarded he is, but I suppose it is a sign that Elazul is opening up to Shiloh without being aware of it.

It's also sweet that the other Domina inhabitants kept waiting for Shiloh to make sure he's safe. It gets me in the heart. It's also a pretty good way of introducing the two superstitions about Jumi - those who cry for a Jumi turn to stone, and that when a heavy rain is because a Jumi is crying, somewhere (the 2nd one isn't so significant in the game though, it's only brought up at the very end of the arc).

And ah, our trickster Niccolo did charge Shiloh for those Greenball buns. It's good to see Inspector Boyd though! Oof, but the next episode is probably the Flame of Hope...prepare for the feels. I hope we get to see Seraphina soon, though! The teaser seems to indicate she's in Gato, so hopefully she'll be there.

In the HD version of the family photo from Instagram you can see de lioncourt in the upper left corner, which for me, strung to mind that this is (if this picture was taken in universe) be a family photo for Lestat hence why he would write “de Lioncourt” on it, because it is the de Lioncourt family, which is a lot of words and probably sounds extra pretentious and I’m sorry about that, I don’t want to be. It just made me buzz with excitement, like that’s lestat’s family!

It also insinuates that if pressed Claudia might use lestat’s last name as her own, which is wild in the implications.

Thank you so much! This is so wild! I LOVE how much they are emphasizing that they are a FAMILY. I was talking to my partner who has only seen the movie and said Claudia was loustat daughter and HE WAS CONFUSED. Like what did he think she was? Their roommate? But although Lestat says "one happy family" you don't see a lot of positive interactions between 3 of them (or any actually, correct me if I'm wrong). So the choice of the show to extend the time period of them being a family (the best time period we never got in the books and the time period that probably makes up 50% of all VC fics) is so inspired.

Also I can't remember if it's canon or fanon that Louis doesn't know Lestat's last name? Bc his family name would reveal he came from nobility, which he kept a secret. So maybe, Lestat reveals more of his backstory to his family.

I actually think Claudia's full name should be Claudia de Pointe du Lac de Lioncourt 😂 although loustat probably would argue over who's name goes first

Finally got to make that prediction picture, but unfortunately i took too long to do it so there wasn’t much to predict. Under the cut because it is informed by the supposed leak

If my numbers are right, MK11 has 37 characters including dlc including guests. So far MK1 has 28 confirmed characters including dlc including guests (excluding those that show in trailers just as kameos). The ad that shows up all the time for me on MK11 says there will be new characters too. This is my prediction:

I am considering that the characters that showed only as kameos in the trailers won’t be playable. So no Sonya, Jax, Kano, Goro, etc. I thought of including Sindel because people said they saw her in the trailer, but I think she would have shown in the Outworld trailer if she was there. Also Mileena seems ready to get the crown. I only included Havik because of the leak, because I am fully believing it for now. Shao too - at first I didn’t think he would even be playable in this possibly depowered version, but now I think he could have a bigger role. Apparently there will be no Special Forces or Black Dragon, but I wanted to hope there will be someone from the Netherrealm in here, and also I would like to see Sareena without Quan Chi around. And Nightwolf, I think he fits with the rest of the good guys

For the dlc predictions, I tried to follow what I think is the trend in the dlcs already announced. People were begging for the missing ninjas in mk11 and we know Smoke and Ermac will be there, and Rain is returning. It feels only right that Reptile will be there too. Also all three dlc characters are people that are probably not in the new timeline - Quan Chi was probably erased by Liu Kang, Ermac wouldn’t exist without Shao Kahn, and Takeda isn’t even born yet/may not even be born if Kenshi’s life is different. If Shao didn’t destroy his realm, Reptile won’t even be involved in anything. Cassie, like Takeda, isn’t born yet - and of the remaining kids, I think she is the most likely to show up. There’s no reason for Fujin not to exist in this timeline, but I think some weird things could happen with Raiden being a mortal now. I thought of putting someone from mkd or mka instead but idk I couldn’t think of how they fit. I hope I am wrong! I love seeing long forgotten characters making a comeback
