Just popping by to share my ignorance - your explanation of your url just prompted me to google the metaphorical meaning of albatross because so far I've always just assumed you meant literal bird, for some reason. XD Yay, non-native English speaker! Always something new to learn. XD
Oh fun, thank you for sharing that! (And sorry I took a couple days to answer this--I was in the Midst of Final Deadlines for school, which are now mercifully past.)
I mean, it's not not about the literal bird, because it was kind of a random choice. So you really weren't wrong. :P But yeah, I also always think of the metaphorical meaning due to the Rhyme of the Ancient Mariner. Which I... have never actually read, but I have read about through English Lit Osmosis. So I'm happy to share that association! English is endlessly full of references, it seems like.
A random thought at 1am but nothing-NOTHING makes me more emotional and tender than the last 35 seconds of plug in. The strings, the tenderness in Dan’s voice, the last little riff Dan pulls off with the final ‘liiieeeees’ it’s just fucking perfection.
There was something kinda freeing abt being in the hipster-type bucket in 2011 bc no one asked what genres your favorite artists were (also...you didn't have any good answers lol.... 'bog water?' 'tired grass??' 'country as well'). Spotify flooded the ecosystem w sub-genres and it was better when I couldn't put my finger on a sound. Anyway. If spotify is going to tell me a band is stomp and holler mountain music, it better be.
i really cant say shit about music tastes considering im regularly subjected to my own, but for the love of fuck if a blorbo is based in a music subculture, plsssssss take an afternoon to tour that subculture at least a little when making your blorbo playlists trust me i promise you theres good shit out there beyond what little from fringe genres that filters out into the top 40s from the last decade
you know you're too deep in the bastille archives when everyone's talking about the 'new' covers on bbx like they haven't already been on spotify for years
ohmygosh ohmygosh ohgooooosh another one colleague has listened to bastille in the past and now when i started to talk about them she said that it makes her remember good times and that she wanna listen to some of their songs again oh myyyyy
With Liar Liar being released, ive started to ask myself do I really like this song just because Dan features/co-wrote it??? Or do I like because Dan features/co-wrote it?? Or is it just a coincedence?
Like do I regularly listen to Dylan? Sometimes. Do I listen to liar liar A LOT?? Yes.
Do I regularly listen to naughty boy? No. Do I love no one’s here to sleep? Yes.
Do I regularly listen to Craig David? No. Do I like I know you? More than any other Craig David songs.
Do I regularly listen to Banners? I know a few songs. Is Half Light my favourite? Yes. Why? Because Dan co wrote it.
Please someone tell me they understand this or if it’s just me.
