Hey, I love your writing! I was wondering if you’d do a little something based off of the lyrics “Well, every once in awhile, she'll find my number in her phone and we'll talk for hours She'll tell me things I would have never known about when we were together She's saying, "Sorry, it's just such a long walk home" So she's coming over cause it's better than being alone” Spencer Reid x female reader. I was thinking more like a Midwest emo alt type of character, totally not someone you’d expect Spencer to go for?
I think your nose is bleeding (Spencer Reid x Reader)
Thank you very very much for the request!! I hope you like this little one shot, because I didn't know the song, but I hope I could meet your expectations🩷✨

Requests are always open🥰

y/n – your name
Spencer and you were kind of an odd couple, excuse me, a couple of friends for the untrained eye. While he’s a trained scholar with a collection of PhDs on Mathematics, Chemistry, and Engineering; with an impressive job as a profiler at the FBI, which most of the time had him travelling all around the country, and a shy personality with socially awkward tints, and a genius brain. You are a tattoo artist with a free spirit, a soft spot for poetry, love for sassy comebacks, and a special love for midwest emo music. Once upon a time, almost a year ago, Spencer and you were a couple, but the two of you decided to leave things as friends, because your lifestyles were quite different, which made a relationship considerably difficult for you. However, the two of you decided to stay friends, which seemed kind of easier as you established a set of rules to make sure everything between the two of you could flow naturally.
Even if it was as friends, you knew that the two of you seemed like polar opposites, but the love you shared always made you be better for each other, growing up, learning about the other’s point of view, and becoming empathetic, even if you didn’t see eye to eye under certain circumstances. After your break-up, Spencer and you learned to compromise and commit to make sure the friendship could work, sure, sometimes it was hard considering his packed schedule, and your love for spontaneous adventures.
It was a little later than you would usually close the tattoo studio, so you decided to call Spencer to see what he was up to; you hadn’t talked in a while, so you weren’t even sure if he was in the city, but it was worth it to take the shot.
“Hey, y/n, it’s nice to hear from you” you heard Spencer’s voice through the phone
“How are you, mighty Doctor Reid?” you asked excited because, deep down, you were really longing to hear Spencer’s voice
“I’m… I’m alright, you know, just doing my thing; how are you? It’s been ages” he said trying to hide his own excitement to hear from you. Sure, you were friends, but deep down Spencer hoped that with time and more organization, maybe someday the two of you could rekindle your previous relationship
“It’s only been a couple of weeks, but I know what you mean! I’ve missed you Spence, I hope I’m not interrupting you at work or anything” you said, walking to your car
“No, I’m just home solving a puzzle, and deciding what to order for dinner” he said
“Uh, that’s nice, I was actually thinking about going to Little India to get take out. I’m really craving chicken curry, want anything?” you said jokingly, pretty sure Spencer wouldn’t catch the subtext
“Uh… sure, some chicken tikka masala and flatbread would be pretty amazing, thank you for asking” Spencer said, ensuring you he didn’t catch the joke
“An order or chicken tikka masala, white rice, and flatbread, coming right up” you said getting ready to hang up the call, when Spencer interrupted
“Wait, don’t hang up” he said as you turned on your car engine “I want to go with you, if that’s okay, I mean, if it’s not an imposition” he stuttered this time
“It would be delightful, sure, I love talking to you” you said with a shy smile forming on your lips, “What have you been up to? Any cool cases I can know about?” you asked Spencer
“I flew in today from Atlanta, we went to solve a case there” Spencer stared telling you all about the case, the unsub and how the team managed to save the victims that were abducted, when a car cut you off and honcked at you
“Jerk” you said under your breath
“y/n! are you okay? what was that?” Spencer asked frantically
“I’m okay, I’m okay, it was just some jerk” you said hoping to soothe Spencer’s concern “Did you know I hate driving?” you asked the young doctor
“I didn’t know that” he said sounding quite surprised at your revelation
“I really do! That’s why I’d always ask you if we could carpool when we were together” you confessed
“Hu… That would’ve been useful information back then” he said, making sure of making a mental note about that, to ensure to drive you whenever he could do it
The two of you kept talking, and the 40-minute drive that you needed to get to your favorite Indian restaurant, suddenly felt like a 5-minute stroll with the one you loved. Talking to Spencer like this felt amazing, it was peaceful, it almost felt natural like breathing, he always had the right words for you and even when you paused the conversation for a little while, the silence between the two of you was incredibly comfortable. You arrived at your destination and while you were ordering the food, Spencer stayed on the line with you, speaking about an impressive number of folkloric Indian stories, and facts about the country. You picked up the food and drove to Spencer’s apartment, this time, the drive was quite short, but that didn’t mean it was least pleasant with Spence’s rambling
When you arrived to the apartment building, Spencer was already downstairs waiting for you
“Hey boy-genious, I was at least hoping I could separate the orders before giving them to you” you said, a little butt hurt that apparently, Spencer didn’t even want you on his apartment
“What are you talking about? I’m here to help you carry the bags upstairs” he said a little confused by your comment
“Oh, I thought… Never mind” you said brushing off the butterflies that starter fluttering inside your stomach
“I’m really glad you called, you had no idea how much I missed you” Spencer said as you were entering the apartment building
“I missed you too Spence” you said
The night went amazingly, and the damn butterflies wouldn’t go anywhere. The two of you eat dinner together, and it almost felt as you have never broken up, the conversation flowed, and you could feel how this was one of those moments you’d always treasure in your heart
“I should get going, it’s a really long drive home” you said as soon as the clock struck 12:00 am
“Don’t go, please, just… stay the night” Spencer pleaded with his puppy eyes
“I really shouldn’t” you replied, avoiding eye contact with Spencer. Sure, one would argue that a friend can stay over at another friend’s apartment, but you knew that with Spencer it would be complicated, especially as you weren’t over him yet
“I’m begging you, I may seem alright, but as soon as I go to bed without you I feel so… empty and alone. This apartment is not the same without you, as a matter of fact, my life is not the same without you” Spencer said taking your chin so you could look at him in the eye
“If I stay the night, I may never leave” you said, gifting Spencer a side smile
“Maybe I just don’t want you to leave” Spencer said, leaning forward and starring intensively into your eyes, so you did what any normal person who has the object of his or her desire would’ve done: you leaned forward, and kissed Spencer

Hello! Can I request Starscream with a reader who loves video games, especially older "retro" ones please?
Anon you have waited so long, please accept this humble word train of inconveivale proportions, becuase this went from 'haha Screamy vs tetris' to 'holy shit I can't stop typing-'
Starscream x RetroGamer!Reader
HA!
Such primitive, meagre entertainment. How can you engage in something barely even fit for newsparks??
Yeah, Starscream is waving his ‘technological-race superiority’ around again. You’ve long since learned to roll your eyes, tune him out and turn the tinny volume on your console to maximum just to annoy him.
For all that he snorts and rolls his optics and waxes lyrical about how his games were played in high-speed roulette 5D stratospheric-chess - or whatever - you don’t fail to smugly notice how his wings twitch in time with the music. (Don’t bring it up or he’ll screech about how he can’t get the bouncy little tunes out of his head at 3am. It’s not worth your eardrums.)
And when he DOES pay attention, he’s the kind to aggressively backseat drive.
What’s worse, is that after breathing down your neck and screeching at you to “Jump HIGHER-” (Mario Bros is a relationship tester), he’ll cluck his tongue and smarmily coo at your game over screen until you finally snap and shove the comparatively tiny controller in his face.
The affronted shock lasts a millisecond before he huffs and says such childish little things are beneath him. Obviously.
Your petty revenge is to chat obnoxiously loud to Knockout and spread a rumour on the Nemesis that the Mighty Commander Starscream is too outdated to try anything new, clearly, I mean he’s just so old-
- much screeching shouting and scratched paintjobs later, you find out that he’s simply downloaded the games into his brain and fully intended to not breathe a word to you about it apparently until you died. Prideful bastard.
He HAD intended to tell you, but only after he had gotten an impossibly high score to beat so he could rub it in your cute squishy face.
In a beautifully ironic twist of fate, being as advanced as cybertronians are, the highly simple nature of most retro games actually renders them incompatible, like trying to run a floppy disk through a hadron collider. So while yes Star can play tetris on his break, he cannot simply blitz the levels as expected and call it a day, because the old games have such simple parameters in comparison to how he usually operates.
So he has to actually play.
With no instructions because of course this high strung high maintenance metal bird could not possibly deign to ask you how to play first. That would be demeaning. And he won’t google it either.
You can sit in smug, satisfied peace as you watch him slowly tick through several layers of frustration: wings twitching, claws tapping, optics whizzing to focus on platforms and little 8 bit enemies you can’t see.
But Starscream is still the Second in Command of the Decepticons. And the Decepticons have very stringent security measures.
Soundwave fucking manifesting outside your window one evening was enough to have you pray to every god you’ve ever heard of. Inscrutable, all knowing fucking Soundwave. You regret every conversation you’ve ever had on the Nemesis, oh god your house is probably bugged-
His face screen flickers to life. You blink, as a live stream of the Nemesis command deck appears.
You have, by dint of hanging around too much and a few close encounters with the Autobots, seen cybertronians on the battlefield before. It is nothing compared to the later levels of Pacman on the Nemesis bridge at 1 am.
Soundwaves inscrutable smiley face emoji pings your phone, almong with a simple, translated glyph.
“More? :)”
PS-
Soundwave is Pacman god. Knockout has a soft spot for the Mario games. Starscream fucking loves Galaxian and will die before he ever tells you this. Shockwave, logically, finds Tetris soothing.
Megatron plays pong on his throne sometimes when his usual brooding gives way to inevitable drug induced boredom. It spaces his eyes out to either side nearly completely. Starscream has screenshots of his gormless mug taped to his hab wall to shoot on occasion.

Do you think the last HS leaks were about Taylor?
Thanks for the ask, sorry for the delay, I was leaving the leaks but today learned something interesting, (thank you to @womanexile :) ) that the 'Lately' Voice Note leaked almost on it's own anniversary. The file includes that it was from 5 January 2017.
It first appeared on HS News on the 6th Jan. There's a photo of Harry on the next day too.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This date is possibly an anniversary of them breaking up. The Blue dress on a boat was 4 January 2013. They had been spending time together through the end of 2014 to January 2015. Harry arrived at LA on the 2nd and disappeared. Then on the 6th Taylor posted "Clear Blue Water" Lyrics from This Love. They then stopped hanging out and were icy at Lily Aldridge's birthday. Taylor started dating Calvin a few weeks later. Harry posted rain on a window on the anniversary of that post and then wrote this song on the following anniversary.
Tumblr media
It's not a finished song so I'll just flag this part, which with the timing, makes me think it could be about Joe and Taylor, it also includes a reference to Clean's "Rain came pouring down"
The rain falls down and I'm heavy now And I fall out [and it's] underground I don't believe what you're saying to me, "that I love him"
Link with Dancing with our Hands Tied
In April 2016 Harry and Taylor had been spending time together before he left to film Dunkirk and record HS1 in May 2016, and also both in NY & LA later in the year.
He and Taylor had both been in London at the start of January and both in LA at the end of January 2017. There was an unconfirmed sighting of them together on 28 December 2016.
3 January Taylor had a Lover Journal entry, that she and Joe had been together since October the 3rd.
5 January he then writes this voice note about a lover told them they love someone else.
12 January Taylor was then seen for the first time in a while in LA at a gym, which is when DWOHT is thought to have been written. DWOHT is about wishing she had another chance with someone but feeling fame ruined it.
Harry started wearing the Rose ring soon after. The rest of 2017 they released and promoted HS1 and Reputation and dated Camille & Joe, with a few Haylor nods
DWOHT
In Secret Sessions she talked about how this scenario was when she wrote Dancing with Our Hands Tied:
That inspiration for the song came when she was back in LA after spending several months out of the public eye. as we know now she spent basically all of this time in the UK without anyone knowing she was in a relationship. back in LA (i think for work), she went to the gym only to be caught by paparazzi on her way out.. the paps shouted all kinds of things at her including comments about her weight… remember this was the first time she had been properly seen in months and nobody knew she was in a relationship.. She described being really overwhelmed by the experience but that her thought process was less about herself and more about how she could possibly have a normal relationship when this was her life. Taylor actually said that after the incident she went straight to the recording studio, cried, and wrote this song.
@cntfightmydemonsthyknowhowtoswim just did a post about DWOHT, in particular the line "If I could dance with you again" means the song is not about her BF at the time, plus it refers to the age Taylor was when she and Harry broke up (25) and water rushing in (Clean, later Falling.).
Interesting that DWOHT and this voice note leak both reference Clean.

hi i liked the way you write, could you do something about the first kiss between reader and kevin katchadourian? i hate loving this boy
You had no way of knowing what this would spawn lmao, but I ended up running with this idea of doing a little ficlet/scenario series drawing inspo from Taylor Swift song lyrics about kissing.
So, here is the first one!
I feel like this is a goes without saying sort of thing if you're reading fucking kevin x reader fic but warning for toxic relationships & manipulation
screaming and fighting and kissing
Pairing: Kevin Khatchadourian x Reader
Word Count: 1.2k
Tumblr media
[…]Screaming and fighting and kissing in the rain It's 2AM and I'm cursing your name I'm so in love that I acted insane And that's the way I loved you Breaking down and coming undone It's a roller coaster kind of rush And I never knew I could feel that much
You know that Kevin is bad news. He practically had it plastered across his body. It was present in every step he took, every sentence he spoke, every time you caught his eye and he looked at you like he could see straight through your flesh and into something much more grotesque. You had noticed it all the way back at your middle school dance, when he told that one classmate of yours– what even was her name? You can’t remember– something so awful that she ran off the dance floor and you didn’t see her at school until two weeks later.
You’d never figured out what Kevin said for sure. But you didn’t have to in order to get the point, to learn the lesson: stay away from Kevin Khatchadourian. Or so you had thought. Because against all better judgment, you had started hanging out with Kevin. At first it was going along with him and that little goon of his, Lenny. From the start, you could tell that Kevin also didn’t think much of the guy. You like to think that you’ve been a bit more subtle in your dislike than Kevin has been, though, so why the two continue to hang out is a mystery to you.
But then you began to hang out with Kevin alone. Ostensibly, him inviting you to hang out one-on-one should mean that he likes you and enjoys your company. The thing was, however, you haven’t been able to tell if he actually does. For one thing, Lenny was an example that for whatever reason, Kevin would hangout with people he didn’t even like. For another, as you learned, Kevin can be incredibly inconsistent. Sometimes when you arrived at his house, he wouldn’t even be home like he said he would be. If he bothered to actually let you know when he was canceling plans rather than simply standing you up, the text or phone call always arrived last minute. Sometimes they even came in when you were already en route to your destination.
So, why had you put up with it till now? The very simple answer, you regretted to admit, was that at some point along the way you had caught feelings.
You aren’t sure exactly when those feelings began developing. But you remember the first time he was talking to you and you felt yourself get lost in those big brown eyes, and once he realized you had zoned out and weren’t listening to what he was saying Kevin had rolled them and turned back to his computer.
And you remember the first time that his inconsiderate behavior had actually caused you to cry in your car. It was two in the morning and you’d made plans to drive out for a late night meet up at Waffle House, only for him to text you that he wasn’t coming. It’s something you’ve never told him about and never plan to. You just sent a “k” back and, once you composed yourself, drove back home and went to bed. You remember one time when he grabbed you by the shoulder to move you out of the way, and even though it was a brief touch, you felt your face heat up.
And all though perhaps you became a little bit of a pushover as a result of your crush, you did have your limits, as Kevin was now finding out. This time when you came over, he was home. You had resolved on your drive over that if he was there he would be getting an earful.
“Kevin, we need to talk,” You say, the moment you shut his bedroom door behind you.
“Do we?” He asks, not bothering to turn his head from his computer to look at you.
“Yes,” You reply, standing behind him. You keep your voice as calm as you can, not wanting to seem too emotional or irrational. “You treat me like shit.”
“Do I?” And that’s when you realize he’s not taking you seriously. You pull out your phone and start tapping on it. When he doesn’t hear your retort, he speaks again. “And is that all?”
“I’m blocking your number.” You say. “I’m tired of your shit, Kevin.”
“Really? You had to drive all the way over here just to block my number?”
It infuriates you that he assumes you’re bluffing, assumes that in a few days you’ll come crawling back. “Yes, because so far, the only thing that’s come of our quote unquote ‘ friendship’ is you using me for your own amusement to see how fast I’ll come running,” You tell him.
“And?” He asks. He sounds bored with this conversation, with you, as he continues working at whatever he’s doing. Playing around with one of his viruses, maybe. “You always have.”
That’s when you snap. You like to think that in most circumstances, you’re a bit more mature. That if it was anyone else, you’d simply walk out of that bedroom, slam the door, and not look back. But he’s gotten under your skin now like he always does. It’s not in the way he’s clearly become accustomed to being under your skin though– the way you’ve grown so tired of, where he keeps baiting you back to him, giving you just enough semblance of a friendship to make you question if you’re overreacting to his negligent behavior.
This time he’s not toying with you from afar over text messages and phone calls. This time Kevin is directly provoking you, and you do not respond kindly to it. You step over to his computer and push his computer monitor off the desk and onto the hardwood floor. The glass breaks.
You’re silent for a moment. There’s not a moment in this where you look like you’ve lost your composure, where your face is contorted with rage or where you’re screaming. It’s like your body acted of its own accord. “Shit,” You grumble, after a minute.
Kevin finally stands up. You step back. “Don’t worry. Mumsy can always buy another one,” He remarks of his dearly detested mother as he takes a step closer to you.
You feel almost like he’s sizing you up, and despite his calm demeanor you wonder, for a second, if he’s planning to hit you. But then he takes another step and then you’re pressed against the blue wall of his bedroom and he’s kissing you. Everything is silent except for wet mouth noises and the occasional sound of shoes sifting through glass and Kevin Khatchadourian is kissing you.
It’s the weirdest thing that’s ever happened to you, but it’s not entirely unwelcome. Even if perhaps it should be entirely unwelcome in every way possible considering the conversation you just tried to have.
He finally pulls away after a moment. You see something in his eyes you haven’t seen before. You’re not sure if it’s a reciprocation of your crush, of your feelings, or if it’s more so a bodily sort of hunger. Either way, you’ve ignited something in Kevin that you haven’t noticed there before. You take pride in it.
“Do that again,” You say, voice low. He complies.

Aime Trent
Jon crashed on the space on the couch, letting out a dragged out groan. Marinette shifted her legs, stretching them out as she sat at the foot of the sofa. She poked the side of his head. "What's up?"
"I got terrorized." Jon shuddered. "They won't stop talking about it."
Damian uninterestedly looked up from his sketchbook.
"Who won't stop talking about what?" Marinette set down her chin on top of folded arms.
"Kon and Aunt Kara and Mom!" Jon lamented. "Do you know that anonymous singer who got popular recently? They keep playing her songs at home! I told them it's not my type of music but nooo they just had to force me to listen!"
"Is that why you flew all the way over here?" Marinette snorted out a chuckle. "Who's this singer anyway?"
"Dunno. Amy Whatshername or something."
"Aime Trent," said Damian firmly, stopping in the middle of his sketch. His gaze fell on Jon, shining with disapproval. "Her name is Aime Trent."
Jon's eyes went wide. "You know her?!"
"Obviously. It is evident that she pours her heart and dedication into the songs she composes and she delivers her own lyrics well with her heavenly voice," Damian said, "Not to mention, she's talented in playing instruments and the messages she puts into her songs are poetic and meaningful."
"You listen to her?!" Jon screeched. Even Marinette seemed taken aback.
"And what if I do?"
"I didn't know you like that genre."
"It's not my usual style, but her songs are too beautiful to be ignored." Damian crossed his arms indignantly. "In fact, more people should know about her."
"A lot of people already do." To prove his point, Jon took his phone out and showed them his Twitter feed filled with Aime Trent hashtags. "See? She's trending. They love her songs."
"That is not surprising. She deserves all the recognition she can get." Damian nodded.
Meanwhile, Jon eyed Marinette. "What about you? Don't tell me you're a crazy fan too."
She raised her arms defensively. "I haven't heard of her that much. I've only listened to a few songs."
Damian scoffed. "You both should learn to appreciate her masterpieces."
"Wait, but no one knows who she actually is, right?" Jon leaned towards Damian and the latter pushed his face away. "You didn't try looking for her? Oooh, maybe we can earn some money if we—"
"I am not breaching the anonymity she's worked hard to maintain," Damian cut him off. "Also, my brothers have tried and they have repeatedly complained that she's extremely difficult to track down."
Jon blew a raspberry. "No fun."
---
Marinette set the palette aside, careful not to spill any paint on the floor. She and Damian were working on their joint project for school: an oil painting with themes from their English literature class. They were taking a break, so she decided to get her notebook out to do some writing.
"What rhymes with 'all'?" She tapped her pencil against her lip.
"Tall? Small? Call?" Damian examined their paintbrushes for any bending. "Todd is better at flowery words than I am."
"I'll make a placeholder first," she scribbled on the page.
"What are you writing?"
"Hmm . . . a poem."
He granted her silence so she could focus while he washed their materials. She was bent over on her tiny notebook, tongue sticking out slightly in concentration. But she perked up when she heard him humming softly.
'Fireflower'. Third song of the first album. She recognized Aime Trent's song instantly.
"Marinette?" Damian called out suddenly.
"Yeah?"
"About Aime Trent . . . it is confirmed that she is from Paris, correct? Do you happen to know anything about her?"
She laughed. "There's still a lot of people in Paris. I don't know all of them. I can ask Luka later, though. Or Uncle Jagged. They probably know some insider stuff."
She looked up at Damian, who settled close beside her. "Do you actually want to know who she is? I heard she's making her official debut in a few months. Why not wait until then?"
He showed hesitance before answering: "I'm only curious for myself. I want to know more about her. If I do find out, I have no plans in divulging her identity to other people."
"Why, what do you like about her songs?"
"I've mentioned it before, but her voice is divine. It's unique, and she knows how to use her range in different dynamics," Damian listed off. "In Deep Wave, she uses breathy tones in the chorus but there is also her own background vocals towards the end. In contrast, she uses more powerful belts in Mythical City."
"I didn't know you knew so much about that." Marinette ducked her head, hiding her blush.
"I tend to research deeply about my interests. Get into the 'rabbit hole' as Drake called it," Damian said. "The instrumentations she uses in her songs are intriguing as well. According to one analysis I read, she used a traditional instrument in Blind, accompanied with modern samples. It is amazing to hear the sounds come together perfectly."
Marinette bit back a smile. His rambles were cute.
He wasn't finished. "And her lyricism. She weaves her words into a story to evoke vivid emotions. I believe that she references the former Paris situations in some of her songs."
"She—she does," Marinette stammered. "That's why she has a lot of Parisian fans."
"I will definitely come to her debut concert. Even if it's the last thing I do."
Her chest warmed at the thought.
---
Damian was not having a good day.
He had accidentally fallen asleep before the ticketing release for the debut concert. All her siblings had bought their own tickets without including him (Drake had even reserved an entire row for himself and his friends). Even Jon lucked out on a good seat and proceeded to resell his ticket for a fortune to someone who wasn't him.
He had tried to look for resales, but most had already been sold (not to mention, he had gotten scammed in one of his attempts to buy a ticket). He just had to hope he could A: get a ticket for the second show or B: sneak into the venue.
He dragged his groggy self into the classroom and slouched on his seat, exhausted. Marinette bounded up to him.
"Got your ticket?" she chirped.
"No, I may have to kill someone to get one," he grumbled.
"Here." Marinette pulled out slips of paper from her pocket and placed it on his desk. He stared at it.
Two tickets to the Aime Trent concert.
He rubbed his eyes. "What . . . how? Are you not going yourself?"
"I already have my own ticket?" She smiled sheepishly. "From . . . myself?"
He shot up from his seat and wrapped her in a tight hug. "Thank you. I owe you my life."
"Why don't you look at the back of your tickets and return your favor that way?" She pointed to the tickets before scrambling away to her seat.
Damian flipped one of the tickets. At the back, there was a note: Go out with me after my concert?
A lightbulb flickered in his messy mind. 'I already have my own ticket from myself'. A sharp intake of breath graced his lips as he looked at Marinette, who was smiling shyly at him.
He tucked the tickets safely in his pocket, smiling back. He had a date to plan.

Bridgerton is just socially acceptable Jane Austen Fanfiction, change my mind.
I have a friend who is really into Dungeons and Dragons and one of the most interesting things I’ve learned from her because of this is how mainstream role playing games have become. There’s a TV show on Amazon Prime called Vox Machina that’s actually based on a Dungeons and Dragons campaign called Critical Role that was streamed on Twitch and as a Podcast on Spotify. In other words, a game of roleplaying between a few friends has become a popular TV show for people who don’t even roleplay to enjoy. Naturally, when I heard about The Good Society, I was curious to see what content is out there on the internet. So, I searched it up on Spotify and, lo and behold, a podcast of people playing The Good Society does exist. Each episode is approximately 4 hours long, and I unfortunately do not have the time to dedicate to listening in full. However, the latest episode (from December of 2020) is titled “Zombies”, so I had to at least give it a brief listen (Here’s a YouTube link to a video of them playing through this episode, but I listened in Podcast format: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6TiAgFD4DMw&t=9256s). In the episode description itself it’s called a “one-shot” which I feel like I only ever hear applied to fanfiction (more on that later though).
I started by listening to the first 10 minutes. In those we got an ad break, a brief introduction of the players, and also a song meant to give an overview of the game containing the lyric, “ballers gonna ball”? Then they start to move into the full description of characters, kind of along the lines of what we did in class today. At this point, I learned that they were combining legitimate expansion packs with names like, “Sense, Sensibility, and Swordsmanship” and “Pride, Prejudice, and Practical Magics”. I really needed to see what was going on when they threw all these things together so I just skipped to a random point in the podcast and tried to figure out what was going on. I landed around the 2 hour and 33 minute mark where they are in the letter writing part of the game. This was really interesting because the letters are very “in character” interactions where the players are all talking in accents and using not super modern vocabulary where the rest of the game seems like just a lot of friendly chatting and hanging out. I stuck around just for long enough to find out that they’ve come up with a character who’s going to bring some zombies into the house that’s central to their game. At this point I’d listened to ~30 minutes of this episode so I called it a day, but it was definitely fun to listen to them really get into character and then work together to set some things up and then get in character again and it kind of made me want to play too.
All I could really think the whole time I listened (and when I first was reading about this game) was that it felt very fanfiction-esque? These characters felt a little more different from Austen characters than our characters, maybe because the players are more experienced and had more time to develop the characters’ personalities, but when we were playing in class today, I felt like if you changed a few names we were just writing Elinor Dashwood/George Wickham fanfiction. When I first heard “Jane Austen roleplay” I thought it was a crazy idea, but the more I learn about it I feel like it’s just Jane Austen fanfic in a collaborative way and I kind of love it.
Having heard about the Dungeons and Dragons show I started to think about what a The Good Society show would look like, but then I thought: Bridgerton exists. Would the writers of Bridgerton call what they did roleplaying? Probably not. But I bet they did sit down together and do almost exactly what we did in class today, coming up with characters and relationships and finding ways to sort of connect them based on that. That kind of got me thinking about the like levels of social acceptance of these things, so I made a meme.
Tumblr media
The template here being where as you go down the diagram the description is supposed to be of cooler and more “mind-blowing” things, but all of the items are sort of interlinked as like small steps up from one another. Seriously though, why don’t we call Bridgerton Jane Austen fanfic? I don’t mean to suggest that all regency-themed things are Jane Austen-based; she did not invent the regency. But, the tropes and character hallmarks utilized by Austen show up again and again in fanfic, in romance novels, and yes, even in Bridgerton, whether it's in the meddling mother characters or the brooding rich men. I'm not sure whether we like to pretend we're totally original or admitting to writing fanfic is still too socially unacceptable, but on some level, the background in which modern-day regency romance is set is the world created by Jane Austen, and I think as long as the regency romance genre is around we’ll always be able to find a new bit of Austen within it.

It had been a little over six months since the Forbidden Door pay per view, the last time you had seen your boyfriend, Riley better known as El Phantasmo, in person. You were thrilled when the announcement was made that All Elite Wrestling was going to be collaborating with New Japan Pro Wrestling. You didn’t know who all would be participating from NJPW at the time of the announcement, but you hoped that El Phantasmo would be selected for the pay per view. You missed him like crazy, not being able to see each other everyday anymore was killing you.
Before you arrived in AEW, you were putting in the work in Japan with Stardom and making appearances as well as exhibition matches and even title matches in NJPW. Your first time there you had run into a variety of the New Japan guys from Hiroshi Tanahashi to Kota Ibushi, and some of the factions from Los Ingobernables de Japón to Chaos. You were feeling pretty good about working a New Japan show until Bullet Club circled you. You knew about Bullet Club, you had actually met the OGs leaving the dojo all those years ago, and the feeling of danger and the don’t-mess-with-me attitude stuck with you.
You remember looking around you at all the faces, most were familiar except for a few, and one of those few caught your eye. He didn’t give you the exact same vibes as the others did, it was something different but you couldn’t quite put your finger on it. You watched as Jay White approached you, only zoning out after the first couple sentences left his mouth because the man, you later learned was called El Phantasmo, had your attention. You studied his face and body language, he wasn’t too thrilled Jay was flirting with you or standing so close to you. When he noticed you were looking at him he gave you a smirk and wink before anyone could notice. That’s when you felt your heart flutter. After BC finally left you alone, you couldn’t stop thinking of El Phantasmo.
Each time you were on a NJPW show you always ended up running into Bullet Club. You and Riley would exchange glances in secret, not knowing how the rest of the club would feel, mostly Jay since he would make an effort to flirt with you when your paths crossed. Honestly, you kind of felt bad that he didn’t get the hint you weren’t interested, it just caused you to come out and say it one day.
Once you had told Jay you were interested in someone else, you saw Riley’s face light up, not only at your words but at the wink you shot him. He was quick to recover before Jay could catch his reaction. Your confession left Jay baffled. Who turns down Switchblade Jay White?
You and Riley had gotten close and had been out on several dates as time went on, eventually making it official. You’ll never forget the look on Jay’s face when he saw you and Riley walk in hand in hand, the man was speechless for once. Riley announced to the club that you two had been seeing each other for the past month and that you agreed to be his girlfriend. The club was happy for Riley, and after congratulations were over, everyone looked at Jay who had an unreadable expression but finally smirked saying, “If you ever break up, you know where to find me.”
Fast forward to the day AEW reached out with a letter expressing their interest in you. You were shocked because you still had another year left on your contract with Stardom and NJPW. Over the years, you had become an asset to Bullet Club, always being ringside for Bullet Club’s Cutest Tag Team, and ensuring they always win. You ended up becoming a member of BC not long after you started dating Riley. Jay was quick to notice not only what an outstanding wrestler you were but how valuable you would be for the club. Their hidden weapon, a pretty poison if you will.
You showed Riley the letter the moment it came. Tony Kahn had laid it all out for you, it was a good deal, a great one actually. Tony had written about how some fellow wrestlers recommended you when he mentioned he wanted to add one more woman to the division, and upon reviewing your matches, promos, and interviews, he agreed with those people — you were without a shadow of a doubt all elite. Thankfully, you didn’t have to give an answer right away and could think about what you wanted to do — accept or reject the offer. This gave you plenty of time to talk it over with Riley. You respected and valued his opinion, but not only that, this was a big decision that affected the both of you and your relationship.
The conversation took place over the span of a week. The discussion consisted of arguments, more than you cared to count. Near the end of the week, you and Riley finally decided to sit down and write it all out, the pros and cons, the concerns and worries. Once the lists were made and concerns were voiced and with the help of your boyfriend you finally had your decision — you were going to accept the offer and join AEW.
Riley knew this would be a good move for you and you would benefit from venturing into the states. He just hated to see you leave, wanting to be selfish and keep you in Japan with him, the place where you two met, where you two live together, and where you two work together. He knew his thoughts and feelings on the matter impacted your decision and the arguments prior showed that when you told him, “Maybe you’re right. Maybe I shouldn’t go. Japan has become my home, my home with you, and maybe leaving for some might-not-be-fulfilled promises is a waste of time.”
Hearing those words leave your lips was his wake up call, you sounded excited at first when the offer was made, but after the arguments with him, he heard how you sounded defeated, especially when he saw your face fall when he said, “AEW probably isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. I mean look at who works there.” Needless to say, he felt like shit seeing his words have that effect on you.
Once the decision was made, you were going to tell Bullet Club about the offer, and how you thought about it, and that you and Riley talked it over, finally reaching the agreement to accept. You were nervous about telling the club, you didn’t want them to to be mad at you, hate you, or kick you out because you were leaving. Riley knew exactly how to tell if you’re nervous and anxious about things. He watched you constantly wring your hands, he saw you biting your lip, how you just couldn’t sit still and your leg bouncing rapidly. Riley hated seeing you like that so he softly placed a comforting hand on your ever bouncing leg. “It’s all going to be fine, I’ll be right there beside you. They’ll be happy for you. Sure, they’ll hate to see you leave Japan but I don’t think they’ll hate you for it.” Riley comforted, removing his hand from your leg and wrapping his arms around you, pulling you into a much needed tight hug.
Riley was right. The guys were happy for you and this opportunity given to you, but obviously they hated to see you leave. They all assured you that you would always be Bullet Club regardless where you worked. Those words were confirmed when Jay agreed, adding that you would always be their pretty poison. It meant the world to you hearing the guys rally behind you and support you, especially since Jay was letting you stay in BC. You had grown to love those men and ended up being close — practically sisters — with Pieter. You’d miss her and hated leaving her alone with guys, but you knew she could handle them and if not, you would catch the first flight out to put them in their place.
When the day came for you to leave, you were a wreck, constantly crying and saying you changed your mind, that you wanted to stay. Riley would just silently pull you into a hug, rubbing your back the entire time while you clung onto him, soaking his shirt with your tears. You knew back when you made the decision to leave that you would be sad and what not, but you didn’t realize just how hard leaving everyone and everything would hit you. Luckily, you had been packed and ready for the past two days, quadruple checking your checklist of clothes, necessities, and other items. You remember like it was yesterday when you went to go over your checklist for the ‘billionth time’ as Riley had put it, you noticed Riley had snuck in a couple of his shirts and a hoodie, along with a bottle of his cologne. That was what started the waterworks. That one little gesture made your heart swell and made you wish he was coming with you.
As the day went on, you tried not to continuously cry your eyes out, sniffling and wiping your eyes to the point they were raw. Riley would make sure to be within arms reach in case you needed him, which you did — a lot. He tried to be strong for you, both of you crying would make things more difficult. “I’m always a call, text, and FaceTime away whenever you need or miss me. Day or night, I don’t care about the time zone difference. You’re my world babe, and no amount of distance will ever change that.” He reminds you as he pulls you into a kiss that made you weak in the knees from the passion. You knew where this kiss would lead — the same place it always did — the bedroom. You were correct as Riley’s hands roamed your body and began discarding your clothes, you doing the same to him. Before long the pair of you were a tangled mess in the sheets.
You ended up being thirty minutes late to the airport thanks to the sexy time you and your boyfriend had causing you both to lose track of time. Thankfully, your flight was delayed an hour due to some reason you didn’t care about because this meant you wouldn’t miss your flight and you also got to spend one more hour with your love. Or so you thought. You heard a group yelling and shouting at you from behind. Turning around you see all of Bullet Club rushing up to you, Pieter was the first to give you a massive hug thanks to her elbowing her way through the crowd of men. One by one they all gave you a hug and told you they’d miss you and wished you the best as well to call or text them. The sweetness was making you turn into a puddle of tears. You promised the men you call them and you promised Pieter you’d FaceTime her every day to tell her about your new adventure and her to tell you all about the chaotic schemes the guys come up with.
Shortly after that, it was time for you to board your plane. You took a deep shaky breath and opened your mouth to tell them bye when you were tackled into a massive group hug. You honestly wished the hug lasted longer, it felt like home because these devious little shits were your family.
You felt Riley pull you into a tight hug followed by one last passionate and loving kiss before you inevitably had to leave. “I love you. Call me when you land so I know you made it safely.” He sniffles, wiping away the tears that slid down his cheeks.
You nodded, quickly wiping your tears away as well. “I love you too. I— I have to go.” You whispered, not trusting your voice and knowing you wouldn’t be able to stop the tears. Riley gave your hand a final squeeze before letting you go and watching you board your plane.
That was the last time you saw your boyfriend in person. You talked to him every chance you got and he did the same. More often that not, the preferred method of communication was FaceTime. It made you both feel better seeing one another’s face, attempting to make it feel like you were still in close proximity to each other.
It was maybe five months after you joined AEW that the announcement was made for Forbidden Door, and you were excited, hoping that El Phantasmo would be on the show. Come to find out, he was and you were thrilled. You were finally going to see him in person again. The lead up to the pay per view went by slow in your eyes. You were so ready for it to be June 26th.
You didn’t have a match at Forbidden Door but that didn’t mean you wouldn’t be on the show. You were going out there like you used to back in NJPW — valeting Bullet Club, more specifically, your boyfriend. You thought you were thrilled before, now you were ecstatic. You had learned over the months that BC was going to be represented in a few different matches. El Phantasmo was teaming with The Young Bucks with you and Hikuleo ringside, and Jay would be defending his IWGP World Heavyweight Championship.
You remembered when Jay ventured over to AEW, you were happy to see him again, happy to fill him in on everything he needed to know about two of his three opponents for the pay per view — Adam Cole and Hangman Adam Page.
It was clear real quick that people knew where your allegiance fell, you were still a full fledged member of Bullet Club for crying out loud, and everyone knew, granted you never let them forget. Which is why Adam Cole was always trying to talk to you and talk you into some good deals if you stuck with him because, as he reminded you, Bullet Club is for life. At first you didn’t want to deal with him, but this little idea popped into your head. Everyone already knows my loyalties lie with the club, and Cole is so delusional that his little plan will work to get in Jay’s head, maybe I should have some fun with this. Poor Bay Bay won’t see this coming. That’s when you cooked up the idea to spy on Cole, to get him to trust you because you knew he didn’t know you as well as he thought. You knew the look on his face at the end of it all would be too sweet.
Your plan worked flawlessly as you relayed all the information over to Jay, the two of you coming up with how to reveal to Adam that he can’t outsmart the Switchblade as well as reveal that you were the X factor in all of it if he couldn’t put the pieces together himself. In time, all was revealed to Adam and the world just exactly what’s been going on. The look on Adam’s face was, indeed, too sweet.
All this was the buildup to Forbidden Door and that meant that you would be reunited with Riley soon. There’s not enough words to describe how happy you were. You stayed to yourself after the last Dynamite, ignoring all the chatter and rumors swirling about you and who knows what else. You didn’t mind it one bit, all you cared about was seeing your boyfriend.
The day Forbidden Door arrived was as chaotic like you had expected, the hustle and bustle of the crew and wrestlers were a big indicator. You kept your phone glued to your hand, impatiently waiting for Riley to call you, he told you he would call when he was on his way to the arena. Just when you were about to call him, hands covered your eyes and you were about to whip around and start wailing on the poor soul until you heard that familiar voice. “Guess who?!” Riley jokingly asked.
You wanted to be mad at him for not calling you, but you liked this surprise. Turning around to finally come face to face with him after all these months apart was unlike any feeling you’d ever felt. You couldn’t help but cry, and you didn’t care who saw. Riley pulled you into the same tight hug he gave you on the day you left. He pulled away after what felt like hours and wiped away your falling tears that you didn’t realize were there. You couldn’t wait any longer and pulled him into a passionate kiss that left the both of you breathless.
It wasn’t until Hikuleo coughed that alerted you he had been there the whole time as well as a smirking Jay. You just shook your head at Jay as he headed down the hall towards his private locker room. You and Riley followed after him, hand in hand, not caring what looks you received as you passed by your coworkers.
Time came for Riley’s match and you accompanied him to the ring as his music played, the two of you sharing a kiss once inside the ring. Once the match was about to get underway, you slipped out of the ring and joined Hikuleo on the floor, ready to assist as needed while keeping an eye on Himoru who was on the floor across from you.
You did everything you could like always to ensure that El Phantasmo would win, but unfortunately, no matter what you did it wasn’t enough, resulting in a loss for your team. You were bummed about it but Riley draping his arm over your shoulders is what lifted your spirits. He was there with you, and the two of you were going to make up for lost time.
Typically you’d go out and have a drink or two at the nearest bar before going to the hotel to call Riley, but tonight Riley was there with you. The pair of you turned down Jay and Hikuleo’s invitation for drinks, wanting to spend as much time together as possible before he had to leave.
At the hotel, you led Riley to your room and no sooner than you were in the door, his lips were on yours. You missed the way his lips felt, the way they tasted. The kiss was full of love and lust. You instantly returned the kiss, fingers running through his hair as he hands glided down your back and to you ass. You jumped when you felt him give your ass a squeeze followed by a firm slap. You missed this, his playfulness all while being incredibly sexy.
You reluctantly pulled away from his intoxicating lips, taking his hand and leading him farther into the room, giving him a sultry smile as you did so. You gently pushed him onto the bed and kissed him like your life depended on it. Riley wanted this just as bad you, pulling urgently at your clothes then his own. It wasn’t long before the two of you were once again tangled up in the sheets.
The next morning Riley awoke before you, tracing feather light circles on your arm as he admired your beautiful sleeping form. He had never felt like this before, and sometimes — a lot of the time — it scared him. He wasn’t sure what exactly he was supposed do now that there was this long distance between you and him. He loved you and would always fight for you, he didn’t have a doubt about that. He just didn’t know what the next step was with your relationship, he never pictured himself settling down until you graced him with your presence those few years ago. Now he thought a lot about marrying you, he was still undecided on kids though. He never saw himself as a dad either but who knows, after you’ve changed his mind on settling down he knew you could change his mind on anything.
Slowly opening your eyes, you instinctively moved closer to your boyfriend, you didn’t want any amount of space between you two. You adjusted your body so you could lay your head on chest and drape you arm across his stomach. “I was afraid yesterday and last night was all just a cruel dream.” You admitted quietly, snuggling further into his chest. “I’m glad it wasn’t. I missed you more than you can fathom.” You confessed. You felt Riley’s arms tighten around your body and place a kiss to the crown of your head.
“I was afraid of that too, babe. I missed you so much the guys threatened to tape my mouth shut.” He laughed. Oh how you missed that laugh, it was music to your ears. “I never wanna leave this bed.”
You were quick to prop up on your elbow, eyes wide. “Did you just quote Maroon 5?!” You asked in shock, curious if your ears deceived you.
“I did and I hate it.” He sighed, never one to care for pop music despite you enjoying it amongst other genres, some he liked and others he didn’t. You couldn’t help but laugh at his disgusted expression.
You went to get up but Riley pulled you back down. “And where do you think you’re going?” He asks, wanting you to stay in bed with him.
“Bathroom. And to get dressed, I’m hungry.” You stated, once again trying to get out of the bed. This time Riley let’s you go.
“I already got my eye on dessert!” He called after you, admiring the view of you walking off. You chuckled to yourself and shook your head, glad to know he hasn’t changed one bit.
Once the both of you were dressed, a knock at the door startled you. You weren’t expecting anyone but thought that maybe it was Jay and Hikuleo. You took a couple steps towards the door when Riley stopped you. “I got it, babe. It’s a surprise.” He winked as he passed by you and reached the door. You were confused on what kind of surprise he had in store for you. Honestly, you were a little nervous about what it could be because knowing your boyfriend, it could be anything.
You watched perched on the edge of an arm chair near the bed, head tilted to the side, eyebrows furrowed. You watched Riley step aside as a hotel employee rolled a cart into the room, a dome covered plate with coffee, tea, and orange juice sitting around the plate. There were small bowls of various fruit strategically placed on the tray as well. You made note of the fresh bouquet of flowers on the cart, a mixture of your favorite flowers — colored roses, sunflowers, daisies, and tulips.
You were overwhelmed with emotion at Riley’s sweetness. “What’s all this?” You ask, softly, wiping away tears from your eyes. You were definitely not expecting this.
Riley shrugged. “Just felt right.” He said, nonchalantly as he made his way over to you. “I bet you’re dying to see what’s for breakfast.” He grinned, pulling you into his arms and placing a gentle, loving kiss to your neck.
“Obviously.” You chuckled, looking up into the most gorgeous pair of eyes you’ve ever seen. “Depending on what it is I might not share.” You joked, nudging him playfully.
He shook his head moving away from you and lifting the dome to reveal pancakes, French toast, eggs, bacon, and sausage. It was definitely way more food than you could ever eat.
“Considering how much food is here, you definitely have to eat some.” You said as you passed him a fork. “You didn’t have to do this you know. I would have been fine with a bowl of cereal.”
“I love you and you deserve it, babe.” Riley gave you another loving kiss, this time to your temple. “Nothing but the best for my girl, my queen. Now, dig in!” He exclaimed before taking a big bite of a pancake.
Like the Grinch, you felt your heart grow three sizes that day. The remainder of the day was spent just goofing off and sight seeing. You knew you missed your other half, but until that day, you didn’t realize just how much you missed him. You were determined to fly out to Japan and surprise him the first chance you got.
Now there you were on a plane to Japan to surprise Riley at Wrestle Kingdom 17 at the Tokyo Dome. Surprisingly, it didn’t take too much convincing for Tony Kahn to grant you this one thing.
Riley was the one for you — you just knew it. Little did you know he felt the same, a little black, velvet box sitting on the dresser at the home you two shared in Japan showed it. He was more than ready to pop the big question and soon too.

Have any KF2 players actually listened to the lyrics of Belial's theme?
Regarding Kirby Fighters 2, back in the game's prime, we had these little joke teams, parodies of Liquid, TSM, FaZe, stuff like that. The first of these were Kracko Sunday, started by Fish wishing everyone a happy Kracko Sunday...every Sunday. I can't remember if there was some items tournament that was related to Kracko Sunday, but I know Fishie Funnies was after Kracko Sunday was first mentioned.
Tumblr media
You'll have to excuse me because it's been a long ass time since this happened, but at some point after this, some people start putting KS before their name as a team name. Eventually, Fish runs their items tourney, Fishie Funnies. It was an extremely goofy tournament but it had a few cool clips with items and combos into Gigavolt's slams. You can watch a highlights video here, but be warned, there will be name mispronunciations, I have my terrible old username, and everyone who isn't he/him gets misgendered. (He would be a perfect co-comm for Mew2King...)
youtube
I forgot me and biM played our whole set on Gigavolt, that shit goes hard. I also forgot how much I didn't like GM's editing style back then, no clue why I took his advice when I was making the New Generation trailer. But I digress. The gigavolt clips, and the fact that the tourney was on a Saturday, led to the eventual birth of a second KF2 squad, Gigavolt Saturday.
Tumblr media
I remember leading a big push on Gigavolt Saturday as the "opposing squad" against Kracko Sunday, mostly just to annoy Fish. Even now, 3 years later, I still do many things specifically to clown on fish. There were a ton of other joke squads as well, such as GR, for Get Real, based on a clip where Qwertz gets knowledge checked by an Artist as Water, or JUM, based on Celica's iconic line: "go jum".
I need to make a post about New Generation at some point huh.
Regardless, this brings us back to the title of this post. One day, fish obtains Granblue Fantasy Versus and offers to play it with KF2 people over Parsec. I didn't know much about the game, except from YouTube thumbnails I've seen, showing Belial as a very good character. Prior to this offer, I had looked up Belial on Dustloop Wiki to see what the fuss is about and, honestly, it was one of my favourite character designs I had ever seen. The bizarre twist on the shoto archetype really stood out to me, especially that fireball, being able to change it's direction suddenly is so cool.
Tumblr media
So I've never played GBVS but I know how a bnb is structured, and I know what Belial's buttons do, so me and fish play a bunch of games (Belial v Metera) and as I accumulate wins, fish gets tilted as FUCK. Not only can my fireballs catch jumps and spotdodges with a read, (would be on reaction if not for parsec delay) not only can my counter put me right next to fish after catching one of their projectiles, not only is the character and their theme song a walking sex joke, but eventually Schmee comes in and, on my suggestion, ALSO starts playing Belial.
Tumblr media
The next day, Schmee makes this edit of Belial holding a sprite cranberry, based of a current emote in the server of Magolor holding a sprite cranberry (made by the GOAT P47) and it's beautiful.
Tumblr media
OH, this reminds me, Belial also led to the founding bit for one of CE's longest running in-jokes, powerpoints for new characters!
Tumblr media
I decide to type up this super cool moveset for porting Belial's moves into KF2, which is still pinned in the fishselfie-discussion channel, formerly called labbing-discussion but then no one used it. You can check it out right here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/16ZN7Hy69QASnfSi7CYmp2V0GKp8tEuLTisV6V_A_uGQ/edit
So this leads us to the present day. GameMaker Studio 2 had become free recently and I had it sitting on my laptop. I already had a pretty fulfilling winter break, I spent time with friends, pushed out a massive Smash Tactics update, but I still had more time. I finally decided to stop thinking about learning GMS and actually started learning GMS. I started out with a fairly simple bullet hell I was calling "baby's first touhou" in which you would move a player, avoid shots from a boss character, then shoot back at the boss. I thought using Belial Cranberry would be funny, but the actual emote was a tiny image because it was an emote. Fortunately, Belial's new key art for GBVSR was PERFECT for holding a sprite cranberry. So for about 2 days, I got to work on making a bunch of attacks, fixing many crashes, and adding a bunch of other stuff like sound effects. Eventually, I ended up with a finished product: Maiden and Cranberry!
Not included in this video is the 'bruh' sound effect when you die. Also, that "wow" voice clip isn't text to speech, it's an actual in-game voice clip. I want to do other things, just simple games to start, but you all know I'm ambitious. There's a lot of things I want to learn to do, and there's a lot of things to learn with programming. It's crazy, there's so much that goes into a game that you never think about until you're actually making it. I'm going to keep messing around with GMS2, and one day, I'm going to be able to make all of that.

Okay so I got this ask right here yesterday and as I promised, I gave Lana's song a try, but since I had to listen to the lyrics I read them first and damn you Anon you were right. Specifically those lyrics stand out:
He lives for love, he loves his drugs, he loves his baby, too
But I can't fix him, can't make him better And I can't do nothing about his strange weather
But you are unfixable I can't break through your world
He lives for love, for women, too I'm one of many, Bonnie's blue
So now I'm gonna listen to it, see how it's delivered
*fives minutes later* Oh God, this is heavy, let me listen one more time - I always get something better after second or third listen
*another five minutes later* Oh my fucking God, how do I find words for this...
Maybe I'll start from this. I probably didn't have luck for Lana's songs before, but like I can see by this song that understanding her lyrics is important so what I suck at the most, so I would literally had to read every lyrics before listening to her songs, like I did with this and God did this song hit.
The delivery of those lyrics are filled with so much sadness, the whole melody is melancholic with a LOT of regret, the soft drumming which gets louder later and that guitar instrumental break, the chaotic part, you can get a lot from the music only let alone knowing the lyrics.
I got the vibe of being a witness to all of this, not being able to do anything and like it's very accurate to how I felt about Keith at the beginning of October, end of September last year when I learned a lot about him - not everything, but got the hang of how it was with him (hence why my depressive fic called "Rain Over The Unwritten Words" came to be).
It's magical how a song can actually describe your feelings better than words, don't you think? Didn't think I will come back to feeling so miserable about him again, but you were totally right Anon, this song is about him, not a single shadow of a doubt about it.
Yet again I got a similar image to what I saw at September/October while listening to "Now And Then" by The Beatles. Totally different vibe, but the same image: A glass wall between the two people, the woman and the man separated, but with Lana's song, instead of knowing about the other and being able to meet for a short while (after the death of them both), this is more of a scene where the woman can only watch through the glass wall how the man is destroying himself, screaming her lungs out, knowing how it'll end and the fact that she can't do anything about it is destroying her tiny heart.
Very depressive, but this is what I saw, so I'm sharing it, also one other thing:
But I can't fix him, can't make him better And I can't do nothing about his strange weather
But you are unfixable I can't break through your world
Those lyrics hit me the most - good work Lana, amazing song

Supernatural imagine Dean reading your song book and notices you wrote a song about John being a horrible abusive father and like always John doesn't care.
Sam and Dean x Half-Sister Reader
Warnings: mentions of abuse
Tumblr media
Being the half-sister of the two Winchester brothers had its ups and downs. Let’s start with the downs. You didn’t have a very good home life growing up. Your dad, John Winchesters, only came around for the holidays and your birthday. He didn’t treat you like Adam, where he’d take you out to ball games or to the movies every now and then. And when your mother realized that she was going to have to raise you on her own, she didn’t do it well. You were oftentimes left home alone for days at a time. Sure, that’s fine as a teenager, but she had been leaving you alone since you were four. Due to the poor treatment from your parents, you didn’t do well in school. You tried your best but you just couldn’t understand anything. Growing up, you didn’t have any friends. Your classmates didn’t want to be seen hanging out with the kid who couldn’t learn anything or do anything for herself.
This left you to make your own friends. You’ve loved music for as long as you can remember, and with having a lot of free time on your hands, you learned to make it a part of your life. You began writing songs, starting with the lyrics and then adding piano or guitar behind them. Music was one way of coping growing up.
When you turned 13, John finally started making more of an appearance in your life, except it wasn’t a good one. He’d come around when he knew your mother wasn’t home, then knock on the door and claim he had come over to make up for lost time with you.
“I realized what I’ve done,” he’d say. “Please Y/N, let me in. I can get you out of here. I can take you with me and raise you right. You won’t have to suffer anymore.” After months of John trying to ‘save’ you, you finally gave in. Packing what little belongings you owned, you hopped into the back seat of your father’s impala.
Here you are, 20 years later, and living with your half-brothers Sam and Dean in the bunker. You’d met them on your 18th birthday while on a hunt. Ever since then you’d finally become a part of the Winchester family. They treated you like a sister and messed with you the way older brothers do. It was the first time you felt like you were actually a part of a family.
Sam and Dean loved hearing the music you wrote, dropping whatever they were doing when you even thought of asking if they wanted to hear a new song that you’d just finished. They were amazed that someone in their family could produce such sweet-sounding music.
One day Sam and Dean found your songbook in the library. “I guess she stayed up late again,” Dean commented, picking up your book. “She really needs to learn to take a break, Sam.”
“What is this, like, her fourth song this week?” Sam asked, looking over his brother’s shoulder. “What’s this song about?” Dean opened up to the latest page in the book, skimming over the scribbled words. His brows furrowed in worry as he passed the book to his brother.
“Read this Sammy, and tell me what you think.” Dean watched as Sam read through your songbook, and he grew concerned as well.
“Is this about dad?” Sam asked, looking over the lyrics again. “Because this sounds like Y/N’s writing about dad and how he used to hit her?!”
“I thought she never saw dad growing up,” Dean commented. “But this? This sounds not like that.”
Sam and Dean heard footsteps coming from the hallway, turning to see you. Your hair was a mess and you looked as though you’d just waken up. You looked up to your two brothers. “Hey guys,” you greeted groggily. After studying their facial expressions, you frowned. “What’s wrong?”
“Can we ask you about something?” Sam asked softly.
You rose an eyebrow, stepping a bit closer to the boys. “Sure. What about?”
“Did dad…” Dean hesitated. “Was dad around when you were younger?”
“Not really,” you said slowly. “I’ve told you guys that. I didn’t really have the best home life.”
“Well, this song says something else,” Sam responded, holding up your songbook. “Y/N, be honest. Did dad ever hit you?”
Your eyes widened in shock. “I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
Dean reached out, taking your hand softly in his as he pulled you to sit in a chair. He kneeled on the ground in front of you, placing a hand on your knee. “Y/N, this is serious. We need to know what dad did to you.”
Tears weld up in your eyes as you desperately tried to wipe them away. “I-I, dad did nothing to me.”
Sam rubbed the back of your neck encouragingly. “Y/N, please trust us. We believe you. Dad wasn’t the best father to us either.”
After a moment of silence and reassurance from your brothers, you finally told them the truth. “D-Dad. He never really was around. He’d come for the holidays or for my birthday. That was it. But when I turned 13, he finally came around. He promised he could make up for leaving me for so long. I so desperately wanted to be a part of a family that I believed him.” You were sobbing now, and Sam continued to rub you back to keep you calm. “But he just took me to this old cabin the in the middle of nowhere in Minnesota. He’d come by every other day and just beat me. He never said why he was doing it. He’d just come in, beat me nearly to death, then leave. He still gave me food and water though.”
“I never knew,” Dean said softly. “God, Y/N I’m so sorry.”
“How come you never told us?” Sam asked gently. “We could have been helping you. I’m sure it still affects you today.”
“I didn’t want you to think I was lying,” you responded tearfully. “When I first met you two, I was so happy to be a part of the family. I didn’t want to ruin it by teling you that John abused me for four years and that he never cared. He stopped thinking of me as his daughter and thought of me as a way to release his pent-up emotions.”
“Well we believe you,” Dean assured. “And we’re here to help you through it. Any PTSD flashbacks, fears, or emotions. We’re here to help.”
“We love you Y/N,” Sam added. “Never be afraid to open up to us. Especially if it’s about dad

12-18?
12. A song from your preteen years jonatan cerrada's je voulais te dire que je t'attends. this is also actually a cover but that's a song i was obsessed with. the funniest part being that i had no fucking idea the singer was known at the time through a music reality tv show of the time bc i didn't watch it at all
13. One of your favorite 80’s songs la vie ne m'apprend rien, straight from the year 1980, with a. conflicting style for french music at the time. for someone who cared more about the music itself than the lyrics (contrarily to most great french singers of the time), daniel balavoine sure did have things to say in an impactful way
14. A song that you would love played at your wedding my opinion on marriage isn't the most romantic at all (marriage is more about the practical things like taxes, social security and trusting someone to take the decisions for you when you're unable to make them than love, i'm afraid) but ngl i would like a small reception with less than 100 people, similar to my best friend's, with folk music that everyone both Knows and doesn't know, something that sounds like a celebration, but not very romantic i'm afraid. else we'll have to take something from my russian bullet playlist (the happy version). please let me handle the aux. please trust me. i swear i know what i'm doing (being a menace to society)
15. A song that is a cover by another artist ateez's cover of turbo's black cat or whatever name this song has in english. i'm afraid i'm utterly possessed by that cover. i've already told you about it like months ago so you may not remember but it's just. the Drama they added to the song. i love it i crave it
16. One of your favorite classical songs i love monti's czardas but i also really love how it was arranged for the cello here. it's absolutely lovely.
17. A song that would sing a duet with on karaoke total ecplise of the heart by bonnie tyler. i have no excuse i just want to be Dramatic and have fun
18. A song from the year that you were born i had to look up as i had no fucking idea dsjbfhhsdbf so i looked up the top 50 and top 100 for songs that i'd know and like, and most of those that i loved were actually from 1995 but only released as a single in 1996 (like mylène farmer with rêver) or only knew success a year later (fools garden with lemon tree, which is also apparently a song we love to learn english with at school) so i went with un-break my heart by tony braxton

I'm listening to BTS albums in order and can't get over how good their discography is. Do you have a favorite BTS album BPP? Rather, can you rank songs in each album? I'm very curious to see how you will rank the songs in the Love Yourself album series.
In other news,
I MISS YOUR MUSIC POSTS BPP 😭😭😭
**
Hi Anon,
Thanks for the music ask! 💜
This will be a fun one because the Love Yourself series is easily one of BTS's most versatile album series after HYYH, and somewhat less pretentious than Map of the Soul: 7.
I'll rank my favourite songs in Love Yourself: Her and Tear, from least fave to most.
Love Yourself: Her
9. MIC Drop
8. Sea (hidden track)
7. DNA
6. Her
5. Dimple
4. Pied Piper
3. Serendipity
2. Go Go
Best of Me: Not only is this song the best example of Chainsmokers' brand of ditzy EDM, the choreo is also god tier - one of BTS's best. Hands down.
youtube
People always say the DNA era is when BTS broke out of the k-pop mold and left the rest of the industry in the dust. That's partly true, but something I think some people get wrong is ascribing all that viral success to DNA. As a noncommittal k-pop fan at the time, this album to me honestly felt like a honey trap. I remember I found Jimin's Serendipity intro cute, DNA was like a shiny new toy with all the bells and whistles (and college heartthrob Jungkook), but it was the sensory delight of all the b-sides that had me seriously looking at BTS as a group for the umpteenth time. I was scandalized by the lyrics of Pied Piper and couldn't stop laughing at the brilliance of that song. Jimin's vocals on Best of Me is some of his best work. Ever. Even if Jimin continues singing for 50+ years, his vocal delivery on Best of Me and Magic Shop will always be in the top 15.
Every song in this album I rank at least 7/10. It's a solid album.
*
Love Yourself: Tear
11. So What
10. The Truth Untold
9. Airplane Pt 2
8. 134340
7. Singularity
6. Anpanman
5. Paradise
4. Love Maze
3. Fake Love
2. Magic shop
Tear: Listen, this song is one of the greatest contributions to the genre in the history of k-pop. Scratch that. In the history of music. I'd place this song right up there with Pachelbel's Canon in D Major.
youtube
The first time I heard Tear, I felt like projectiles were hitting me at 140 bpm. The lyrics y'all. (Even Doolset's lyrics don't really do it justice but because I don't want to set a precedent here, that will have to do for now). People, BTS's music is a whole experience and for most BTS songs if you don't understand the lyrics you're missing out on like 80% of the beauty of the song. Tear is one such song. Because what they're saying in that song.. when I first heard it I thought this was the sickest break-up song I'd ever heard, and given this song has the same chord progression as Drake's Marvin's Room (Jojo's version is better), it was a near impossible feat to accomplish. When I later learned that BTS wrote that song to sing to each other (!)...
Y'ALL.
Okay I'm going to go on a tangent but bear with me here.
If you want to understand BTS, listen to their music. They write their own songs. That has to count for something. Listen to what the fuck they are saying. When Yoongi during the Festa 2022 dinner said the work of writing their music was difficult for him and every word felt like pulling teeth (paraphrasing here), how can you not listen to/read what their writing? Because I honestly think if more people did that, we'd see less nutjob theories in the fandom (and in fandom adjacent spaces). If more people actually listened to what the heck they're singing and rapping about, fans and antis wouldn't be surprised by Jin's comments on Youngji's show where he said they all constantly compromise on pursuing their own personal desires for each other and for the team. People wouldn't be shocked to hear Jin postponed his enlistment period from June to the winter season after discussing with the guys. We'd see less manti-lite theories about HYBE control over their artistic expression or their relationships with each other. We'd see less nonsense if more people actually took their music, this art they create, seriously.
Tear is in many ways the mirror track to Run BTS.
Every track on this album, with the exception of So What and The Truth Untold, I'd rate at least an 8/10.

KinKi Kids Interview in Josei Seven February 2023 Edition (Koichi's side)
Tumblr media
"This is a job with many possibilities, that's why I won't stop."
The Story of Us is not talking about the two KinKi Kids, but acts as a global 'cheer song'.
It's a little different compared to the so-called bright cheer song. People all over the world are struggling due to Corona, so I thought it would be nice if we can unite everyone in one voice. We usually divide between who to work on the music and for the lyric, but for this song we decided to make it together in one space.
What does "let's fight for it/tatakao" in the lyric means for Koichi?
Tbh, there are still a lot of difficulties even now. Stageplay cancellation, or even if we did a live performance, the audiences are prohibited from speaking. But it's also thrilling to think about what kind of performance should we do. And if I said this people will think "what a bad guy", but... nowadays, people keep going "it can't be helped due to corona" as if it has become a common excuses.
They often say "You can't sing due to corona," "it can't be helped but to cancel it". To challenge ourselves in such situation actually makes it more exciting. Even if you failed, it'll be redeeming enough to think that you have challenged yourself despite the pandemic. Of course, it's not something to be taken for granted. I do realise that some people have been through really tough moments, but for me it's better to find ways and turn things around rather than doing nothing, and that's the part I want to fight on.
For this MV, I heard that you need to fight the pasture's smell...
I get to experience nature after a while. The scenery was so pretty when I arrived, but it stinks as I rolled down the car's window. Also, the sound of 100 dancers approaching from behind is quite terrifying. What is going on?! (laughs)
This is also the 46th release. Is there any changes in the way you work 25 years after CD debut?
Back then, I was too busy to even look at myself properly, it's given that I didn't get to look at other people too. Those were the days when I only work on things that's infront of me. There were times it's faster to work on your own than to rely on others. Later on I began to realise that things are moving forward thanks to the hardwork of people around me. Like even when I get a different answer from what I asked for, I started to think that it's a chance to learn a different insight from my own. Because rather than solely using my brain, something unimaginable can be born through the mind of many other.
What makes you think so?
I've been doing SHOCK for long, I have learnt a lot since then (2000), and Johnny-san's death also left a huge impact. While it's hard to even be responsible on your own, the fact that Johnny-san was responsible for hundreds of talents and staffs is incredible. I used to joke around "Johnny-san said that! This is his fault!" even now (laughs). But now I have no choice but to take responsibility. While there are meetings with various sections like filming, art, tech lighting, if something happens it'll be "because Koichi said it". Still, if I replied "I did, sorry." or "Did I? Eh?" they'll still do it (laughs).
Lastly, what kind of year would you like 2023 to be?
I'm the type that doesn't really bother about the breaks (between years), so I don't have anything particular to wish for this year. But if there is one, maybe it's "To live happily". Ofc now I'm happy too.
Our job cannot save lives like doctors do, nor useful to the society like lifelines do. To be frank, it's not a work needed for one to live on. But that's why it has endless possibilities that appeals to one's heart and sometimes creating miracles. When I heard something like "KinKi Kids, Koichi saved my life," I'll be thinking "is that true!?" (laughs). It's interesting to experience such miracles from time to time. It becomes my driving force to continue this job.

it's december or it's january, 2007 or 2008, and i am Home for winter break. Winter Break always feels too long, a full month, maybe more. It's hard to know what to do. It's easy to get too deep into feeling At Home, it's easy to feel like going back to Chicago is going Too Far away.
This winter break I am going on the same walk over and over. It is the same walk I went on the previous summer. I am tempting fate to see someone I used to tell myself I loved. It's the same thing I did that summer. That summer I actually did see them once, driving down their street, hair newly in braids, boyfriend in the passenger seat. I saw them once that winter, too, or at least I think I did; I saw their head through the window. Their hair was brown instead of black; I put this in a song.
This makes me realize that I'm confusing my winters. I must not have seen them at all. This is the winter that ended with me getting seven teeth pulled out; it is the winter I spent messaging a girl from college on YouTube— YouTube used to have DMs! I wish it still did, if only for the fact that then it would be possible to see the genesis of a relationship that went on for somewhere like eight months and is still somehow important to me; far more important than the person whose house I used to circle.
I am listening to music on these walks. I'm listening to this song, sure. But mostly it is "Gris" by Woelv, and "Cold Hearted Cowboy" by Old Lady (which is just a high school friend of mine). Actually, let me pause for a minute and transcribe those lyrics:
i have a piano that i got on christmas day yeah it aint nothing special but im learning how to play that’s not a piano thats a picture on the wall you’ve won some foolish hearts that way but you can’t win them all so it goes, in the end, when there’s no place left to go
i tried to write a poem about the way i wish youd be in my poem you were not restless, you didnt wanna leave by now you should know better than to try to make me change this freezing heart inside of me will always be the same so it goes, in the end, when there’s no place left to go
i never cry at movies or when people go away it something that theyve got to do the tears wont make them stay ill watch you while youre sleeping and ill try to keep real still i remember that i love you more than anybody will so it goes, in the end, when there’s no place left to go
i’m leaving my lights on singing an old song i learned at camp
you, you were my best friend i’ll never condescend or lie to you
you, you were my best friend i’ll never condescend or lie to you
I still love this song. It makes me feel... well, it makes me feel old in the same way it did when I was 20 and listening to this song. All my friends are actually getting old now and I hate it. I hate it because a lot of us don't feel like we're getting anywhere. Maybe that's okay, maybe it's natural. Maybe these last three years until I'm 40 are the actual time I "figure it out." (I say, about to blow my life up again and live somewhere new instead of "settling down.")
I feel like I'm walking around my own house. I'm circling the memory of myself circling an old neighborhood. Cold in winter, listening to music on a brick iPod my soon to be girlfriend will break three months later. I am listening to the line "i never cry at movies or when people go away / it something that theyve got to do the tears wont make them stay" and just thinking about it.
Today someone introduced a group of people and said "and this is my partner, ____," and that name was the same name as the person who broke my heart twice last year and it made me so incredibly sad, in a nearly funny way of "I wish I could say, 'and this is my partner, ____'." I carried that sadness home from work, and now here I am, sitting in bed, too cold for comfort, while the city freezes and I am starkly reminded why I have to leave Chicago.
It's not just because someone broke my heart and now I have to leave. That just makes it easier.

OKAY- Because I rediscovered derivakat’s music- again- for the first time in a while—- here are some lyrics/songs im feelin pretty deep rn - and because I dont usully do this— as a christmas gift no one asked for- I’ll explain a little on why I actually relate to these lyrics/what they make me think of (outside of their meaning within the DSMP) (my stuff will be in this color text, mental health related for the most part)
“So why? Why did you lie? Why did you words ammount to nothing? And why? Why did it fall? Why did you leave me here with nothing?” (I think, just the ammount of times I was lied to- but also that I did lie and it absolutely f*cked so much up because of it- and this kinda feels both like someones talking to me, like Im talking to myself, and like Im talking to someone else.)
“Look at what you’ve done, is this your ‘happy ending’? Look around and see: this is history repeating. Do you even care, that you’ve left things beyond repair? It was by your hand, you’ve turned this masterpiece into a nightmare.” (Ive repeated so many things that I knew how theyd turn out, thats the “history repeating” thing. I do genuinely care that things got left beyond repair at this point. I can “repair” them, but theyre never going to be truly fixed. Things that used to be some of the happiest things in my life and I used to look foreward to for once, have now turned into things I dread and feel like hell to me)
“Raise your shield and cry for help. But no one is coming, no, no one is coming. Walk through fire and straight into hell. Your doomsday is calling, your doomsday is calling.” (I know Im not alone, but regardless of all the support Ive been told and I know I have- I still feel vastly alone in most things. I purposely am trying to distance myself more because I dont want my codependancy to hurt anyone else like it has so many of the people who were important to me. I have walked through so much shit the last few years, I feel pretty deeply the “walk through fire and straight into hell” part)
“Betrayal breeds revenge, you sought out your own end. This is what happens when you turn your back on a friend.” (On the flip side to everything that happenwd to me, I have actually pissed off and told off a lot of people. I am very protective of my friends— just learned one girl repeatedly and purposefully misgenders me because she is aware that I absolutely hate her guts- bwcause she is an absolute ass and toxic person to my best friend. Am I perfect? No- absolutely not. But that girl is somethin else. But as much as I would be there in a heartbeat for those I care about— if someone betrays me or hurts me enough, I will straight up leave and not bat an eye at it.)
“Wake up drowning, waiting for recovery. All the ghosts, have left me in my misery. The wind thinks Im lonely, my nightmares are my only friends. Im suffocating in the company.” (Mentally I think Ive been drowning since middle school. I find solitude and peace almost within music and nature, and ive grown used to living within my nightmares - because everything that I used to be terrified of has already happened to me (aside from death), what more besides death do I have to fear?)
“Realize youre keeping me from breaking, breaking free from the stone. Chase the day I find my happy ending. Keep on running, keep on hoping- I’ll find my home.” (I tend to be held back by others who think they know whats best for me- but then later they will admit that truthfully, I did actually end up knowing what was best for me without their help. Ill eventually find “my home”… I hope.)
Have some flowers, cookie, and gift :) merry christmas (early). 💐🍪🎁
