Sorry, if you already got this question before but in your honest opinion, which friendlocke was your favorite?

It's pretty hard, because I do enjoy all of them... BUT

I think the second one was probably my favorite if we're speaking overall. The first playthrough (Emerald) will always have a special place in my heart, but it was a glorified test run of a concept that I had no idea would actually work. Season 2 (Black) allowed us to be way more confident, and expand every aspect.

And despite all the issues with streaming and editing which eventually allowed me to discover that I DO INDEED get overstimulated sometimes-

Season 2 just really allowed me to hardcore flex my improv and editing muscles in a way that previous projects just didn't. And while it was stressful at points, I felt so driven in every other instance!

Somehow recording a semi well put together shitpost roleplay for 5 hours at a time, as well as editing and creating numerous custom assets for every other scene, is something I'm still actively impressed by. Usually I cringe at previous stuff, but the edits especially on these I still like to brag about.

Like damn, I just need to pat myself on the back, I really did that. The custom sprites even had shading based on the time of day in game so they don't look out of place. It took hours upon hours, but I'm still so proud of the work I did in this season (as well as all seasons, but Season 2 had a lot of these sorts of edits in particular).

Not to mention that Friendlocke Season 2 was such a MASSIVE collaboration and one of the biggest I had ever worked on to that point. The list of credits in the description legit hit the character limit. Something that had never happened to me before that point!

So many musicians, editors, artists, voice actors, and other folks got involved. Even though it was stressful I wouldn't have redone those videos in any other way. It came out so much more amazing than I ever could have concieved!

I can't believe that all this had started from me wanting to do my own spin on a Pokemon Nuzlocke of all things, and what I thought was a silly idea that wouldn't work haha.

Anyway sorry for the gushing and dumping, was just nice to reminisce about this stuff in such a positive and self reflecting sort of way, thanks for the ask!

you make this space feel welcoming & in a rpc so prone to cliques i do think that's something to let you know. you are very friendly, very easy to talk to, full of wonderful ideas, funny, & your portrayal of wanderer & style of rp is one i like out of all the ones i have caught glimpses of.

i will confess to you that scaramouche & wanderer as a character annoy me, he's just the type of character that seems uninteresting to me, i could never warm up to him. but talking to you about him & reading your thoughts on him i do catch myself just listening in intently, wanting to know more, wanting to pick at your brain more, because it feels like i'm learning a lot from him through you that the game failed to catch my attention with.

your portrayal of wanderer, tetsuya you call him, is phenomenal. you don't just give a glimpse of how his thought process works of his feelings of his conflicts, but in your own writing you also apply this sense of accountability on top of all of that & that is such an interesting manner in story telling that not many can accomplish because it's essentially the character & then there's pieces of the author subtly arguing with the character. you do it in such a way that it flows so neatly & both counterparts compliment the other. one of my favorite things about your writing is his inner monologue. aside from all of this you aren't scared to expand from the canon material, you aren't scared to show that tetsuya can grow, that he can change, & that begins in such a subtle way. it begins as a thought & then his actions & it is just good technique. it makes him that much more interesting, that much more alive.

yes i do see some personal hc's integrated here & there, yet you somehow manage to take the canon material & you break it into little pieces for me to where i do think it would be nice to put some investment into his character. you make him interesting to me with all of the life you give him through your rp style.

which, brings forth my next point, i have only wonderful things to say about the way you rp. not only do your replies flow & add the proper amount of attention to your character in the reply, but you also point out a lot about the other person's character you're interacting with to show how strong of an impact what the other character has done or said can have on tetsuya. you also make me feel like you're invested in what i reply with, because in your reply i can tell you're paying attention & already trying to understand the other person's character which makes me want to invest equally & as much in you.

apollo you are wonderful & i wish whole heartedly that you were more open to seeing that since you struggle with it so much. just like you believe kindness should be something that comes naturally, i believe that when there's something worth thanking, then you show your gratitude. so thank you, you're a great & talented guy apollo.

when I first read the books, I ordered physical copies from Barnes and Noble, so I've always had those. I did also download PDFs for free from zlibrary, however, which is where I got my free digital copies. Though I know zlibrary is down now :/ [though there is a website that claims to be zilbrary by im not sure that it's legit, though it does also have aftg]

according to Google, its free on the Kindle store and on Kobo (though I'm not sure what that one is)

there are quite a few websites that pop up if you just search "the foxhole court free pdf" though I can't vouch for their security

if I could figure out how to, I'd absolutely give you the PDFs that I have but I'm not sure how to share them :((( if you happen to know anything about this though, let me know and we can 1000% do that!!

also, even if you're library doesn't have it I would recommend asking them if there are any in the public library system that they could order to have sent there! additionally, see if they have any ebooks and if you could maybe find them through that.

Hii, it's the first time I ever talked to anyone on this app (nevermind that I've been here for some time...) I just really have to say your Under The Sun universe is on my mind 24/7 🥺 I owe u my life bc of it, it's my comfort world 💕

I have a lot of... i guess I can call them theories (or what ifs), about the world and all that, everyone can expand it in many ways (I'm doing it for fun), for example: are they REALLY the only people left? What if the readers appearance not only brings memories to bois little by little, but maybe time - by that I mean seasons, they're getting more aware that it's not paradise and something is wrong. It can take turn to psychological story. Different thought: Are they dead? Even if they're dead, maybe this afterlife is the last chance for them to be together, perhaps they grow apart and need to take care of some businesses between each other to rest? Reader's character is a complex one, mainly bc she could also bring awareness (i really enjoyed wonwoo's part and his thinking), after things are settled maybe the dead are making peace with being, well... dead, so they can be chilling once more...

I just like to think about that stuff lmao sorry 💀 It got me invested and shit. I enjoy your writing and amazing ideas, wish u all the best ❤️

i will say i think i mentioned that the seasons are still a thing? it was probably a one-off line early on but they do keep track of different plants growing in different times of the year, the fics just never tend to go beyond summer since most (if not all) of the stories take place over a month or so and don't go super far past it. i think the only one that would diverge from that would be the poly ending if i end up writing it (and even then i don't think i ever planned for it to go super far--just beyond one month)

i do love the other parts of ur theories/questions tho <3 again, won't confirm/deny anything, but its fun for me to read these hehe so tysm for sharing!!

Cuz i have THOUGHTS.

Gai used to just rush through the museum because while his old friend would talk to the kids about the exabits, he wasn’t as in-depth as the new Curator and wouldn’t take a whole day trip in one exhibit. He was not expecting this when he asked for the curator but he loves it because as much as this guy seems to just not want to be there, he’s willing to ask any and all questions and has no desire to rush through things.

So naturally they have to make another trip. We only got to see the  prehistoric Japan room and we didn’t even finish there because there is so much to see and talk about.

It take’s a bit of convincing of course but Gai gets the clearance to go again, but now he wants to sort of plan out what rooms they’re going to see. So he starts going to the museum himself on the weekends to check everything out and make a lay out. Most of the time he doesn’t see the cute curator, but once in a while Kakashi comes out of hiding to do some other work and see’s Gai in the process of making out an attack plan of what rooms he wants to see on what days.

The second time the group comes, Kakashi is still annoyed to be called out to talk to the kids but he’s a little nicer from the get go because he really doesn’t want to scare off the cute teacher. 

The third time he’s a lot more laid back. He walks out with his hands in his pockets and very tired eyes, but as soon as the students start asking him about the Nara period (because why not) he gets excited. It’s the first time that week he’s not just looking at reports and artifacts and it’s just such a nice escape.

Of course, when Gai decides to say thank you with a cup of coffee he’s a little skeptical. The guy is cute and a lot of fun to watch with the kids, but he’s not sure if he’s going to be someone who wants to sit there and listen to Kakashi rant about all of the things he studies and organizes. The things that he loves so much. But it’s free coffee so why not.

And then not only is Gai letting him talk about his work without rolling his eyes and telling him that his interests are ‘boring’ but he’s actually asking him questions about it. Getting Kakashi to go into further detail and he’s soaking up every single word that he says. And when Gai talks about his passion for teaching, Kakashi is focused on every word that he says. He loves the energy that Gai has for his teaching and all of the effort he puts in to make sure that the kids are getting the best education that they can. 

After that Kakashi decides to ask Gai for his email address so that they can talk about any future trips that the school might want to make to the museum, and what room they would want to see that day. Gai thinks it’s a great Idea and happily gives Kakashi both his email and his phone number. Kakashi doesn’t use the phone number at first, but within a week Gai has an email from Kakashi talking about the next room they should visit and it has a detailed layout of all the things that they can talk about (with lots of time provided for the kids to ask questions). It’s a whole day plan that involves a lunch break, snack breaks, and some interactive play.

Gai is amazed. He has never had anyone take this job so passionately and he loves it. It take’s some convincing for the school to approve a whole day field trip to the museum, but he gets it after a lot of arguing and even some parents backing him up because the kids have talked about how much these trips have improved and all the fun things they’re learning on them. 

The first day trip is huge. Kakashi is there to greet Gai and the students at the front, a bored look on his face until he see’s them walking towards him. He doesn’t immediately change his body posture, but Gai can immediately see a shift in his eyes. The excitement that comes to life when he see’s them walking through the front door. 

The kids have a blast that day. They get to have a picnic lunch in the exhibit that they’re studying that day, the whole place is closed off for them to enjoy while other museum visitors enjoy the other sections. Kakashi has activities booklets for them to do themselves to learn about the Heian period, and it has all kinds of things. Questions for them to find answers to, pictures to colour in at home if they want to, and word searches and other puzzles for them to do. When Gai asks him where he got the booklets from, Kakashi gets very shy and admits that he got bored of all his paper work one day and decided to make them himself instead. 

Near the end of the day, Kakashi finally gets up the courage to ask Gai out to another coffee date, and to his relief Kakashi says Yes with the biggest smile. He’s excited for another chance to talk to Kakashi about all of the things that they both enjoy. But of course, Tenten overhears them and make’s a whole deal out of making sure everyone knows that their Teacher is going on a date with the Museum curator, which is just embaressing. So Kakashi ends up muttering under his breath about how this is obviously now a date, and Gai just smiles and says “in that case how about i pick you up when the museum closes and we can go to dinner?”

Mang, I'm not gonna lie to you... I get super jittery about these questions because I don't feel like I got enough knowledge about fighting to tell you something solid. And I mean something like legit boxing, not all that Rocky stuff.

I ain't being despective, because if you wanna go for that direction and just draw cool people punching each other, go for it. References are your friend, and besides actual humans doing it, you can look at how other artists solve movement and anatomy to expand your visual library. I've been personally looking into Jyoji Morikawa's art lately (and Hajime no Ippo in general, because the guy was an actual boxer and the manga/anime manages it with a nice degree of realism):

Speaking of which, if you want to draw more accurate fighting and being loyal to the sport, you can always read up the basics of each. Things like footwork, types of punches, styles, and other moves I don't know the proper terminology of :D. There's a lot of people online who break down fights, and something that I've learned is that boxers aren't just punchy machines. Some people are more cautious, other don't mind closing in that much, and so on. There's a nice psychological aspect to it that you can explore with your characters :}

Another great manga I've read that breaks down fights like a manual and has a very nice level of accuracy, is Teppu. Although it's MMA, I think it can give you a good idea of how things go.

The moral of the story is to look all the little things up! It's all a matter of baby steps. I'll leave some links below that might help you out. And I'm pretty biased with my references, but I wholeheartedly encourage you to divert from it if that's limiting you.

The Modern Martial Artists, another channel that covers more combat sports and dwells more into the history of some outstanding fighters.

ok but i'm loving your takes on the female characters - like it's very disconcerting to watch this show with a lot of girls and then have almost none of them be actual friends, and when they interact they're either fighting or it's about a boy. a lot of them r reduced to stereotypes too like with sam and her "i'm not like other girls" spiel and paulina's... entire thing lol. i'd say at least valerie is well rounded but she never rly interacts with the other girls positively :/

Yeah exactly. Not to be feminist on main but holy fuck do the girls in DP have issues. Like I get the whole argument that “it's an early 2000s show what can you do” and “all of the characters were shittily written” but the reason most of the female characters are bad in DP is specifically because they were written through a misogynistic lens. Like the show presents itself as having strong female characters but really all they do to break the gender binary is being able to fight. (I will give them points for letting the girls get kicked and punched the same as the men but that is the ONLY praise they are getting out of me.)

To expand on the “takes” in my previous ask: 

 -Dora, Ember, Desiree, Kitty, and Spectra all had boy/appearance-based backstories. Like seriously, the only female ghost I can think of whose backstory wasn’t entirely based on a man was Pandora and she appears in literally one episode for literally half the episode. (Also if you look at the myth of Pandora it's literally about a woman created by the gods to be the downfall of man so she doesn’t get any feminism points either.) Like listen. I’m not arguing that all the female ghosts should be totally retconned so they never interact with men at all. In fact, I think Kitty,though she has a heteronormative ultimate power, Dora, and Desiree’s backstories work really well for their characters. But Ember and Spectra? Why should Ember die because “she was so sad she was stood up she slept through a house fire” wtf?That literally doesn’t really work with her musician motif at all? How would that even work? Bitch did you have no alarms? Nobody was screaming or anything? Like its so astronomically stupid.  @grimgrinningghoul​ has some cool ideas for alternate Spectra motivations in this post so I really won’t get into that here but women being only motivated by their appearance is such a stale take. 

-Maddie legit says "behind every genius woman is a genius man" This is self explanatory really. Like come on girl seriously. But yeah, to elaborate on Maddie they could have had a great strong mother figure. I mean she was a scientist and a black belt for crying out loud! Then they kind of back track because you can’t make women too self-sufficient and have her practice traditional housewife roles, always take a back seat to Jack (even though she’s usually in the right) and have her put up with Vlad’s creepy advances far too much. Not ALL of these things are bad mind you and I probably wouldn’t mind her character too much besides for this one line but looking at it from a broader perspective it doesn’t really come together to make the best picture you know? Also, her sister Alicia - who was probably the most gender-non-conforming character in the show, is treated like she’s a joke or trashy by the narrative. (Don’t even get me started on the constant body-shaming either)

Paulina, Sam, Valerie, Jazz and Dani’s arcs all center around another male character (Danny) Ok this one is a tad more controversial because like yes, I understand Danny is the main character. It makes sense that most character growth is facilitated through him. Hell, even really progressive shows like Steven Universe filter character growth through the main male character. However, there are a couple key distinctions I’d like to point out. For example, Steven Universe has a Third-person limited omniscient POV. meaning all actions in SU are filtered directly through Steven’s perspective. This isn’t the case Danny Phantom, which has a Third-person objective POV, meaning that the story can follow many characters separate from each other, not just Danny. Also the female characters in Steven Universe are already 3 dimensional fully established characters without Steven and it’s even touched on in universe that the characters learn and grow without Steven’s help. This isn’t the case in DP. Paulina's main narrative shift is from being crazy about boys in general to being a devoted fan of Phantom. Sam’s whole arc is about getting together with Danny. Jazz’s arc is about learning how to best support Danny in ghost hunting. Val and Dani were probably two of the better female characters - despite still having Danny-centric arcs. Unfortunately, not only were their plans for character development cut short but any girl-power lines they may have had (something about there being no weak girls idk I’m too lazy to find it) feels fake and pander-y because of all the previous bad examples. 

TL;DR I know it's easy to be like “who cares we don’t even respect canon anyway” but I think when source material perpetrates bad messages it’s important to view the content you are working with through a critical lens so you don’t maintain harmful ideas within your own work.

I'm in Greece which is a very conservative place and religious so I know how religious or demi religious or anti people work, like you are not allowed to think outside of it, it's everywhere shcool, family, the state and I just know how conservative italy works as well because I've studied over there for a tiny bit, so I'm just expanding what I know. In Mindy's Kaling show the mindy project she is dating a catholic guy and also base a lot on that. I've also seen many people getting married at 21 so they can have sex, some are happy some are not, some are more liberal some suck you know same old. But the vibe in religious countries is def different from thw the other ones.

Matt is definetely ruled by outside forces no matter how confident or smart he is. His fighting and his dedication to that his goal and training and all just show how much of a guided man he is. Like he lives by that. The church really fucks up your insides if you live in it your whole life :(

Hi there! Firstly, I want to welcome you and congratulate you on taking your first steps on this journey! I’m absolutely flattered that you chose to come to me for advice, though truthfully, I’m still an aspiring baby witch myself. I’m no expert in any field, metaphysical or otherwise,—though even many witches with years of experience are still on a journey of learning and self-discovery themselves and would claim the same: that they aren’t by any means an expert at what they do, just that they have more experience in some things—and though I can’t give you any real witchy advice on how to cast circles or write spells or charge your tools, I CAN tell you what I’ve learned thus far into my own journey into my own craft. Please keep in mind that much of this information is what I’ve learned on my time on Tumblr and most of this can be found (and much more easily summarized for convenience) in the posts in the witchcraft 101 tag.

You’ve already accomplished one of the first things I would have suggested, and that’s to have an open mind. That you’ve taken such an interest into this path of life says a lot. Always keep your mind open to this path; and not just this path, but the many diverging and branching paths of witchcraft. You can do so much by seeing what intrigues you and researching it. And don’t just research one area, but see what else speaks to you. You’re interested in tarot; maybe that will lead to interest in some other forms of divination, too; scrying, pendulum work, rune stones. Maybe that will lead to an interest in the history behind the tools, or to corresponding crystals, herbs, planets, constellations, gods, goddesses, candle colors, sigils, EMOJI spells! Your options are limitless! Don’t be afraid to dabble. Dip your toe into the waters of witchcraft; you never know which pool you’ll be ready to jump into!

However, on that note, it is important to be aware that there are certain areas that you may find yourself cut off from. Certain religions and spiritual paths are deemed “closed”, meaning that unless you are already born into them or initiated into them, it’s considered appropriative and highly offensive to use elements of those religions. There are also certain terms that are considered as appropriation, racial slurs or just looked down upon in bad taste; “spirit or totem animals”, “sage smudging”, the misconception of the term “karma”, as well as the word “gypsy” are all examples of these. In summary, just be respectful of closed religions/cultures and be mindful of what you say.

On the subject of research, it’s also a good idea to expand your horizons on that front. Be aware that not everything you’ll find on Tumblr—or the internet in general—will be 100% true. Some people can claim they know the secrets of the universe and that their way is the right way (9 times out of 10, these people are the scam-artists you’ll hear about when skeptics talk about psychics, diviners, and witches) but the truth is that, just like art, there’s really no right or wrong way to practice magick. With magick, there’s no end all, be all. It’s diverse and what works for one person doesn’t have to work for you; some witches are more traditionalist in their witchery, some prefer modern technology for their craft, some use expensive and fancy tools, some use whatever they can find laying around, some don’t use any tools at all and simply use their belief and intent to harness their magick. Some witches incorporate religion into their craft, and some don’t; some are Pagan, some are Wiccan, some are Christian, some worship the Greek pantheon, others the Norse pantheon, and some choose to worship a variety of gods/goddesses from MANY religions. Some witches are okay with casting curses, others not so much. And all of this is okay because their path is theirs and yours will become yours. It’s important to respect everyone’s own individual path, even if it clashes with your own beliefs; That’s just being a good noodle. :)

Also, don’t feel as though you have to lump yourself into a category. I know some people identify as sea witches, storm witches, cosmic witches, hedge witches, pop culture witches; it seems that the possibilities are endless and it can honestly feel kind of overwhelming if you’re just starting out with no real direction. You may feel compelled to label yourself and your craft, but it’s really not necessary. A lot of times in life, we feel the need to label ourselves as others outside our personal bubble may label us. Just like in high school, the jocks, the cheerleaders, the goths, the nerds, etc. etc. But it’s not really THAT import. So don’t ever stress over the whole “but what kind of witch am I?” debacle. Keep your options open to find what speaks to you, whether it’s one path or many.

One more thing on the subject of general witchery; you’ll probably see it blasted on most every witchcraft 101 post you’ll find but: Witchcraft and magick is not a substitute for professional medical advice or practices. It’s always best to consult a doctor or psychological expert on such matters (admittedly to me this is really just common sense but still it must be said; I do not condone replacing medication with spellcraft). If anything, think of it like this; when you fall and scrape your knee as a child, witchcraft is NOT your bandaid nor your antiseptic. Instead, witchcraft is the kiss your mother or father places upon your treated and bandaged wound to make you smile again. Make sense? I sure hope so…

Now, you DID also ask for tarot advice. I’m still learning the general meanings of the cards (albeit very slowly, because, unfortunately, I keep distracting myself with failed attempts to multitask) but I’d say that would be your first step there. Learn the meanings of the cards, and not only memorize them, but learn for yourself what they mean to YOU. The tarot is a powerful tool, using imagery that pokes around at our own intuition in order to give us the answers we’re looking for. Make your own personal connections and associations with the cards, the imagery and the symbolism. Many of the cards have generally the same traditional meanings, though some artists and authors throw in their own spin on things from time to time.

A good starter deck is the Universal Rider-Waite Tarot Deck, which you probably either already have or can easily purchase from your local Barnes and Noble (also, a myth that most amongst the tarot community will say is untrue is that you need to be gifted your first deck. I would say don’t wait for someone to randomly hand you a deck; if you really want it, nothing is stopping you from obtaining one yourself; besides, it’s a really specific and rather unorthodox gift of choice that I wouldn’t expect anyone who isn’t already interested in the subject would ever buy for someone else) BUT feel free to browse around and see which deck calls to you. Truthfully, my first deck was the Zerner-Faber Tarot Deck (which I’ve since lost and still can’t find…), and since becoming interested in the subject of tarot reading, I’ve gotten four more decks, each vastly different in style and theme that the last.

You’ll find a lot of other witches who perform tarot readings will give you various tips and sometimes contradictory advice from what each other is saying. Sometimes they’ll say you HAVE to cleanse your deck after every reading, and others will say the only cleansing they performed was when they first bought it; you HAVE to shuffle it yourself, or you can let the person you’re reading for shuffle, or you can ONLY read for yourself and not for others. With this, I say, learn for yourself what your style is and how you and your deck connect. Spend time with it. A good way to learn about your deck is through a tarot deck interview spread (though some witches will tell you that it’s almost kind of awkward to put your deck on the spot for answers about itself like this; again, do whatever you feel comfortable with, whatever works for you is more than enough). You can find a lot of good spreads in the tarot spread tag on Tumblr, as well as other neat tips and cheat sheets for learning the cards.

Another good tool is the Labyrinthos Academy app for your phone; it’s a totally free app that helps you memorize the general meanings of the cards through little lessons and “homework assignments”, kind of like a free tarot workshop. The art style is really cute, to boot. ^^

Another really good resource for information regarding the tarot is BiddyTarot. I believe they have a Tumblr account, as well as an Instagram and website where you can learn the cards, meanings, spreads and assorted fun tips for readings. (I’m on mobile as I write this whole spiel, so I can’t exactly post any links; also I’m not 100% Tumblr savvy so I don’t really know how to put links in general…)
