Intro post💫
Hi y’all, my name is El! Definitely not new to fandom (especially the star wars fandom) but new to tumblr. I’m also not new to Star Wars itself; I’ve been a fan since I was little when I watched the original trilogy for the first time. I got a crush on Han and Luke and I’ve been fixated ever since.
Come for the attractive cast, stay for the lore👉🏼😎👉🏼
I’m @/__anibanani from the bird hellsite in case my Bowzer pfp didn’t tip you off lol
For visibility’s sake here’s my Don’ts:
Minors DNI as I’m gonna be NSFW sometimes
Proshippers DNI (clonecest, rexsoka, obikin, etc)
Any form of willful ignorance or hatred. Educate yourself and rethink your life, love
✨✨back to the brain rot✨✨
So as you can see I like star wars. I like all of it pretty much but the copy/paste men have a special place in my heart. Some of my favorite things are~
Prequel era content (tcw, tbb, pt, totj)
Andor
Tbobf (give him a season 2 right neOW)
Kenobi show
Rebels (haven’t finished it but am enjoying it)
Can never decide which OT movie is my fav
Rogue One
Lego star wars game is cute but I haven’t collected everything yet😭
My favorite characters are:
Clones (don’t ask me who’s my favorite they all kinda live rent free in my brain)
Ghost crew
Luke skywalker
Asajj Ventress
Darth maul
Anakin/vader
Finn
Fennec shand (I just think she’s neat)
Garsa fwip (I also think she’s neat😌)
Aside from star wars I’m into a lot of other things too and am down to be moots from different fandoms! Other interests include:
Atla/tlok
What We Do in the Shadows
Our Flag Means Death
Good Omens
Succession
Fiona and Cake
sorta into the MCU
ITSV/ASTV
The Legends of Vox Machina
Anything dragon related
Anything vampire/werewolf related
Just fantasy in general
I have OCs! I have oodles and oodles of OCs that I might share at some point in the future. I also plan on writing some fan fiction so you have that to look forward to but don’t expect anything soon:)
If you made through to the end of this post then have some smooches and an iced latte💜

11/25/2022 - Struggle
Hi all, Finn again.
Very disappointed to not be coming out with the fanart anytime soon. I am currently refining my drawing skills. I was able to get everything done in the drawing but Charlie and Nick. Kinda the most important part. I've never really drawn people before, especially in the manga art style. I am trying to learn! Drawing on my iPad is weird though. I don't have an apple pencil, or any compatible pencil for that matter. I just use a stylus I have on the top of a pen. That worked well for when I was doing vector art, but not too well for this new style. Here I posted the attempt of me trying to draw a hand. Its meh, but ok I guess for the first time and doing it in 10 minutes.
Tumblr media
The fingers are a little disproportioned, but I am getting better. It was just a sketch anyways.
I have never been the most coordinated individual when it comes to my motor skills. I used to go to OT in school to help with this. I feel like this lack of hand-eye skill may be contributing to my lack of ability to draw. Thats fine, it might take me longer to get better, but I do want to get better!
I am ready for the weekend. Eating was good today! Very proud of how much I ate. Now I just need to rebalance the macros in my diet, so I am eating less carbs.
My Black Friday shopping experience was quite the success. I got lots of stuff for Christmas. I really don't want to look at my bank account haha.
I tried to purchase tickets to an NFL game. I got tickets for a great game for my friend for Christmas. However, she was going to be out of town, and I didn't know. Long story short, because I had to resell them, I lost $80 :(. My parents and I got into a yelling match about this, along with my sister.
My sister is also going to an NFL game, but at an earlier date. I asked politely if we could switch, and if there was any possible way to exchange. I really wanted to take my friend for Christmas, because she loves our local professional football team. She claimed that I was yelling at her. Which, I wasn't, and my sister exaggerated per usual. See, my sister is one of those people who will claim your yelling at her even though you are muttering.
My parents called me out on losing the $80, which I know was stupid because I should have asked my friend if she was free. I just really wanted it to be a surprise. But it just turned into a circular yelling match once my sister chimed in. Don't be wrong, I am mad at myself for losing the money, because that isn't the first time I have been in that situation. However, I don't think it was fair for my whole family to gang up on me, even when they knew that I was upset at myself.
I just think everyone is a little on edge, because we brought my dog's ashes home today. I am still so distraught over his death. I feel sad, empty, and alone without him. He truly was my best friend. I wish I could still pet his silky white coat and see him run after a rabbit in our backyard again. I miss those days. I miss his 'mlems' and his feisty attitude. He was a good boy.
Anyways. I think tomorrow, I am going to try full body sketching on paper, maybe that will be easier for me as I don't necessarily have the best tools for the job on the iPad.

So, I did a thing because I was bored. I drew a little bit of everyone's things.
First thing you should know about are Power Crystals. They work kinda like magic but they need an outlet to work. Like uh, battery in phone 👀. Smth like that. Their power diminishes as you use the item, but they can recharge. A cooldown. The larger the attack, the longer the cooldown. You can tell how much power they have from their brightness. Brightest = Max Capacity. They can be replaced, but they'll only do it if necessary. Extra crystals in their lil pouches. But Pinkie's is uhh... in the bag lmao.
Power Crystals can't be used by just anyone really. They need to 'bond' with their user to be used effectively. Once they are bonded, users can will it to use its power. Example is Pinkie's canon: she can blast her enemies away with a push of her button which is like sending a signal of sorts :p
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is Blue's. I redid his sword and gave him a gun (which I based off a glock lmao).
His sword has 2 Power Crystals. One of the wings is chipped off. Initially I wanted to remove it but I remembered that I made it so that the wing actually saved BF from getting his neck cut open :p. The music note is one of the Power Crystals, the second at the base. The other glowing things are decorative.
The gun has 2 Power Crystals too. The sword's crystals are meant to be enchantments while the gun's is a replacement for bullets. Blue can shoot his enemies with a weak or a strong blast of energy. Ot has stickers on it-
He has a Pass Card. Kinda like a visitors card but to the Adventure Time's universe. The Candy Kingdom specifically because Blue is from FNF. Just a telling to other citizens that those who have the card are trustworthy.
The necklace is used as a light signal and a tracker. To flash out into the sky the specific symbol if help is needed. And to locate the others if they're unable to flash it at the moment, or if it cannot be seen. I havent actually worked out how they can 'activate' the tracker feature but hey, I'm still thinking on it.
For Blue, he has his mic yeah? I thought that it might be worn out after everything they've been through. Yeah, i like to think he uses it for distractions sometimes too. I didnt know how I was going to implement a new mic until I got some inspiration from somewhere. It is slightly smaller than his hand, and fits inside the right side of his headset. Its where it is stored at. So anytime he needs to rap battle just, open up the right headset like a door, take the mic, and close the door- 😂
Tumblr media
Pibby's.
I also redid her rapier and gave her a secondary weapon. A shortsword, or just a sword i haven't decided. The rapier, her main weapon, has 2 Power Crystals as well. The sword is something I saw her use in my dreams. It had fold into itself to look like the one on the right, or extended out to look like the one on the left. In the drawing its currently 'activated', which means the power crystal on the handle is powering it. Deactivated is without the extra pink. And it has heart stickers.
She has her trusty Medkit too, which is 100% needed. At this point, when they get their new stuff its practically the final battle. Shits gonna go dooown. Pibby has the most medical experience so she holds on to it. She's attached to it. Pass card and Necklace has been explained.
Tumblr media
Finn & Jake
Unfortunately I couldn't think of much for them :( so this is what they have. If I think they need anything else I'll add it in. Tbh I don't think they need other things.
Redid Finn's sword too. And Jake's hammer now has colours which I struggled on. Both weapons has 2 Power Crystals on it. I kinda regret not having a lil orange on Finn's sword because I put blue in Jake's to represent Finn in a way. Sad. Necklace has been explained.
Tumblr media
Pinkie's
Hers is the canon, now with colors. 1 large Power Crystal which cannot be fit into a pouch. It has two modes, Wheel and Stand. Its self-explanatory really. Wheel mode activates the wheels, pushing it out of its place and down. Stand mode has... stands. Its most useful if she needs careful aiming. There's scope but I'm not sure if Pinkie really needs it lol. The button is to launch attacks. There is a panel below the button. There's several uses to it, but the main one is to preset specific attacks that Pinkie wants to use. The part in the middle of the firing area is where confetti can explode out of with her attack. Its... her decision to want it in. Also stickers. Necklace and Pass card has been explained.

I know I've brought this up before, but how much of the fandom reception of the prequels do you think stemmed from the genre dissonance? That the prequels, genre-wise, are closer to high fantasy, while the OT is more an adventure/space western/underdog triumph story.
The prequels also have elements more reminiscent of a romantic period/court drama/Shakespearean tragedy, while if you consider the underdog angle of the OT, the OT also seems kinda similar to some of those inspirational movies about sports teams or something, or a shonen anime with the "Power of Friendship".
I'm just saying, these are rather disparate genres that tend to attract different demographics of people.
And not many people tend to be... great about understanding why they don't like something, much less putting it into words, or understanding that they can dislike something without that something being actually bad. (For example, instead of "I just don't really like [thing]," the usual statement is something along the lines of "[thing] absolutely sucks.")
So the usual response is trying to find (and gather) solidarity while putting down or being condescending towards any dissent, and trying to justify their own dislike. (*gestures vaguely towards pineapple on pizza*)
And historically, it's not uncommon for people to... react strongly towards things they find... different or abnormal, which they judge based on themselves, their emotional response to something, and what they're used to.
Looking at kids, this behavior is... fairly normal. "You're weird," "ew, why do you like that, that's gross," "that's stupid," and so on. A lot of kids/teens/young adults also get defensive really easily. And let's face it--adults are basically just older, taller kids who've had to deal with more of life.
(To be honest, I also get defensive really easily. A lot of people do, and it's... it's normal. The defensive reaction can be lashing out, denial, or just being passive-aggressive or staying silent and tuning it out or mentally rolling your eyes at it. But I'm trying to work on it, because just because it's normal doesn't mean it's a good reaction.)
So, what I'm wondering is whether some fans dislike the prequels simply because it's a different genre...
...but instead of realizing that, they try to defend and justify their dislike by pointing fingers and criticizing whatever stood out or looked different from the OT or cherry-picking details/taking things out of context or making negative conflations (that can be refuted).
Because it's not about logic, it's about how they feel. And people want to feel justified and validated, and we want to feel like we're right and we enjoy staying in our comfort zones. So... yeah. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
LOL, okay, this response is going to be really disjointed because I went off in like a dozen different tangents and even then it's not enough to cover everything, so just kind of read this in a Scattered Thoughts Nerd kind of tone, where I'm staring off into the distance because Navel Gazing Gets Me Going Sometimes. 😂 In my experience, it's sort of a mix. I don't hang around a lot of people who dislike the prequels (in the sense of dismissing them/not being fannish about them) because, well, that's the heart of my interest in Star Wars, so our areas of interest basically don't really overlap that much, so I don't have a chance to talk to a lot of people and find out their reasons or even how they dislike the prequels, in the bigger trends of fandom. I do think there's an element of what you're talking about, that sometimes people can't just dislike things because it's not their genre of choice, that's absolutely a part of it. Mostly because that's how a lot of people react to anything they don't like (and it's something I and literally everyone else has to work on), there has to be a reason for it that it's objectively bad and, like, I have experienced a lot of people getting mad because I like something in a different way than they do. And I don't mean just in Star Wars fandom, but in almost any given fandom--if someone likes something in a way someone else doesn't, if they talk loudly about it (even within their own space), then there's always a contingent of people who have to find a reason why that person is objectively wrong (or even try to make them morally wrong), rather than just shrugging and going, "We see things differently, my view on things doesn't overwrite theirs and their view on things doesn't overwrite mine." It gets more complicated in instances where fandom attitudes genuinely can be hurtful, especially when they're overlapping into the way real people are treated, likes/dislikes don't 100% exist in a bubble, especially when it comes to queer fans, fans of color, disabled fans, mentally ill fans, etc. But that there are a lot of instances where fandom culture has always been--and is increasingly so--contentious and it's hard to chill out when someone is always screaming at you, when the atmosphere of the fandom is always so intense. Further, there's also an element of how fandom has always been--and also is increasingly so--about personal resonance, personal emotional investment, interpretation, and meaning. That sometimes we identify with something so deeply that we feel attacked when someone else likes or dislikes something we feel so strongly about, something that we feel is a reflection of ourselves, and I see a lot of that as well. And this, too, often crosses over into lines of how the context of how we treat characters can be reflections of how we treat real world people, but that there's no monolith here as well. For example: I make fun of Anakin, this angers some people, because how dare I not take this fictional victim 100% seriously, despite that I have repeatedly said that Anakin is the character I most identify with, that things I make fun of him for are ones that I resonate with personally. I'm not disrespecting mentally ill people, especially considering that Anakin is not bound to a single interpretation on this front--he is not canonically mentally ill, no matter how easy it is for us in fandom to map much of that onto his character or, in my case, feel that so much of what I see in him are things I struggle with myself. By and large, the majority of the people I see (at least on tumblr) who make fun of Anakin are doing so within the same vein, that they're being silly about him on things that they personally relate to. (My experiences on this are not universal, I cannot speak for the whole of even any one part of fandom, only my own sphere of experience, but this is what I've seen.) As always, it's fine if someone doesn't vibe with my style or they find that it's not their thing because they do take him more seriously, but that preference does not make my jokes
suddenly not have the context that I relate a lot to what I see in Anakin. In contrast, the way some of the fandom treats Mace or Finn isn't just personal all the time. Not liking their characters isn't inherently racist, but the way they're consistently, consistently treated sure as hell speaks to a larger pattern of racism in fandom and doesn't come without that context. It's the same with Rey--is there a huge vein of misogyny when it comes to her character? Abso-fucking-lutely there is. Things Luke and Anakin get a pass on, Rey is raked over the coals for. Is everyone who dislikes Rey a misogynist? Not even close. Some don't like her because Finn was used as a prop for her story. Some people don't like her because she got sucked into Kylo Ren's story too much. Some just don't care for the way she was written for other reasons. Some just don't vibe with her. It's fine. Nothing is a monolith. And to circle this back around to what you're talking about--it's hard to judge, both because no part of fandom is a monolith in their reactions, but also because we're only hearing from a selection of the fans. How do you know how many people who aren't fans of the prequels, who just don't care for them because it's not their genre, but just go about their day? You don't hear from a lot of them because they moved on to things they do like, so it seems like they must not exist--except, they do, and they're just out there doing things they like more. We only hear from the people who feel the need to tell others they dislike the prequels for this reason or that reason, some valid, some less valid, etc. Ultimately, I do think there's probably a fair amount of genre dissonance for why people dislike the prequels and channel that into "they're objectively bad" and get defensive when people like them and say they were great, but only because that's true of anything anywhere. But that it's only one small slice of the bigger picture (and there's a lot of stuff that I had to eschew in the writing of this response as well because it can be a pretty sprawling topic), where there are tons of reasons and reactions that people have, as well as they're perfectly free to dislike the prequels for whatever reason they do or don't have, it doesn't really affect my opinions, unless they're trying to shove it in my face or are being a dick to those who disagree with them.

I’ve decided I’m not gonna hate on Star Wars sequels. I’ve been seeing a lot of hate on Rian Johnson and it reminds me of the hate people put on Lucas and on the prequels and frankly even if I agree Disney sucks, I don’t think it’s fair to hate on a creator just because YOU didn’t like their vision.
I prefer to appreciate whatever it is they were trying to put forth and frankly I think the hate on The Last Jedi is kinda overblown even though I absolutely agree that Finn was too underused, that whole debacle with Poe and his commander was bullshit... but tbh I didn’t exactly hate the Reylo stuff and also finding out that Luke played a part in Kylo Ren turning to the dark side was not exactly too horrible.
Was I horrified that they kind of ruined the purity that was Luke?
Yeah I kinda was... but thanks to someone who mentioned that Luke almost killing Ben was a very interesting mistake Luke made ALONG with the fact that Luke was having visions of what Ben was going to do in the future as Kylo Ren and WE ALL know how potent those force visions are.
I feel like Snoke or Palpatine played a part in pushing Luke to turn against Ben thus forcing Ben to seek Snoke. In a way, Luke was tested and he failed.
 And that’s interesting.
I mean why exactly are we so obsessed with seeing Luke as this perfect jedi? I mean we talk about Obi-Wan being perfect BUT he wasn’t. That’s shown clearly in the prequels. But everyone wants Luke to be perfect.
And he’s not but do you really think him redeeming Vader was the end of his journey?
 No, it wasn’t.
He just realized something that the others didn’t and it was the simple fact that despite everything, Vader was Anakin Skywalker, his father.
He also got a bit of an understanding of why Anakin turned dark.
That doesn’t change the fact that Vader committed atrocities and it’s not far fetched for Luke, the more he learned of Vader’s deeds, to go back to being disillusioned and afraid of another Vader to the point that he embraced the Jedi’s teaching, ONLY to realize that it was the Jedi teachings itself that TURNED his father to the Dark Side.
I hate how the other characters were sidelined. Like Poe and Finn deserved better but I gotta admit the Rey, Luke and Kylo Ren part of the story was very interesting and for me saved The Last Jedi from being completely boring.
I just with Johnson was able to incorporate Finn and Poe a lot better into the story. Johnson seemed to have been trying to combine the prequel themes with the OT themes, especially concerning force visions. Idk maybe Johnson should’ve had Kylo Ren capture Poe and Finn, or at least maybe have a much more better written battle scenes and a far better written scene on trouble with military bureaucracy. I do like the bit where Finn and Rose went to the casinos and I think Rose told the story of how her sister died? I don’t remember but there was something about the corruption of the rich and how the rich use the poor somewhere...it was interesting. Not sure nor do I remember how it connected to the overall story plot and theme though...
Anyway I don’t think Johnson deserved the amount of hate he gets though. He was trying to make the characters human and instead of being lauded for it, he was hated as is the case when you attempt to show a beloved character in a more unlikable light...

So I just finished my 2nd watch through or whatever of Star Wars Rebels. And I had a thought. WHY CAN'T LOVE JUST ......BE??
I mean you have the OGs
Tumblr media
And if the sequel trilogy had left well enough alone, it would been fine. Legends has them happy but since it's not cannon, we get the ANGST of TFA. Just...no.
Then we have the primary babies
Tumblr media
I mean I kinda get this one, but I will still cry every time I hear Across the Stars. There were other routes that could've maybe been taken....she didn't have to die when she did. Just ugh
And then.....
Tumblr media
I wasn't originally a fan of this pairing, but really....I get it. And my heart just 💔💔. My sweet Obi-Wan...
And let's not forget (on my mind especially right now)
Tumblr media
I mean....Dave was just out to break our hearts at this point right? He was just being mean.
Of course we end the series with these nuts
Tumblr media
And again, I get it. Will cry every time (don't @ me!) The culmination of the sequels and BOOM its over. I mean yeah no realistic HEA and I get it but you can't help but want one.
But....the most tragic? The most devastating and, IMO, most underrated?
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
Tumblr media Tumblr media
SO MUCH POTENTIAL!! SO MUCH 😭 Seriously. I didn't want to watch Rogue One at first. Just like I didn't want to watch any of the "cartoons". OT, PT, and then ST. Didn't care for the rest. But I caved and watched and hated myself afterwards. Just, the chemistry and tension was so blatantly there and I just NEEDED them to get off the planet. All of them. But no.....
SIGH
I know, I know. There was a reason for everything (though questionable in the ST, I really could've gone for the Damerey in the original script). I just think b/t Lucas, Filoni, Kennedy, Favreau we could get a HAPPY ENDING for at least SOME of these guys. There's no reason for EVERYONE to be miserable. Gimme the rest of Rey's story where she finds love and its simple and easy. Lemme see Finn sharing intimate moments with Rose (or Poe if that's your pref). Yall left me with broken Jedis and princesses. With wasted potential and unspoken words. Just let them be happy. Happy endings can happen in a galaxy far, far away too.
Though I suppose we have these two
Tumblr media
But seriously guys. Gimme a romantic happy ending for once.

Freya Mikaelson

Your brothers don’t have much of a problem with witches than they did the rest of the supernatural
especially with Freya, as she can be useful in many ways
get your mind out of the gutter
When they first met her, they were a little cautious- as per usual, but she was cool with them pretty quick.
Dean definitely asked her a lot of questions.
Whether they involved magic or her sexuality, I’ll never tell.
they most likely did
Sam and Freya get along pretty swell
Dean...
Well-
He’s Dean.
Remember when Freya snapped Lucien’s neck because she “works better with quiet”?
ok so that...but just knocking Dean out instead of killing him.
Sam’s kind of in shock, a little intimated, not sure if he should be thankful or mad, etcetera etcetera.
Not a whole lot to say other than the fact that they get along and Dean doesn’t have much of a filter good and bad, but I think we all know that
Putting an end to hiding her was an amazing choice
Finn Mikaelson
Tumblr media
His distaste for being what he is, your brothers can get behind, however, his stern mature exterior, they don’t like as much
He’s the kinda guy who they would call a “party pooper”
Dean doesn’t like how literal he is, Sam’s semi-okay with it but not to the point where he’d disagree with Dean
“What?” Dean suddenly stops laughing. Finn is glaring at him with strong judgement.
safe to say, Dean isn’t sure whether he likes Finn or not
Sam’s just trying to be respectful
The entire time he’s around your brothers, you have to be there.
To be honest, you more than likely wouldn’t allow your brothers anywhere near him if you’re not there with him
You’re trying to keep Finn from doing something he’d regret while eating with your brothers
be it, leaving, snapping, really anything- you keep him grounded
He’s not the biggest fan of your brothers.
Hunting, however,
though he won’t offer often, if it involves you, he’s by your side and ignoring any negative feelings towards your brothers
that won’t stop him from saying anything though. He’ll flat out admit that he doesn’t like them, but he’ll push past that for you
Not even sure if hiding the boi was good or not, so that’s up to you
Niklaus Mikaelson
Tumblr media
Now Klaus... Well, your brothers disagree with each other one some parts.
Dean likes Klaus, but he still doesn’t trust him all that much involving you or your safety
Sam...he just dislikes Klaus. He despises him. Like Dean, he doesn’t trust him and he doesn’t ever plan on doing so.
Since they meet the family, Sam often tells Dean you’d be better with Elijah.
Dean gives him a weird look but doesn’t respond, dropping the conversation with a his own wordless version of “no”
They will never allow you two any private time.
With Dean, that depends
However, they do indeed ease up when they learn of his protectiveness
Dean probably offers to go get revenge with him
after they learn that Klaus’ revenge involves hunting the creature / person who / that wronged you, they learn to like some parts of him.
Sam and Dean are very strictly against his willingness to, and lack of empathy when, killing humans.
As stated, Dean is like a human, more sane and human (emotion and other stuff wise, not literal), version of Klaus
Sam feels uncomfortable around Klaus and he notices
Dean and Klaus poke fun at him for that and you can’t tell me no
On that note-
Klaus is very likely to pull some shit on your brothers.
Dean thinks it’s hilarious (unless Klaus goes too far), but Sam is not having it.
At all.
Pretty much what happens when the meet him.
just Klaus and Dean laughing with each other and Sam sporting a very criticizing squint at the two every so often
Good choice to hide him, but they probably would’ve found out anyway. News gets around when it’s about Klaus Mikaelson.
Rebekah Mikaelson
Tumblr media
To be one hundred percent honest, Dean flirts with her the moment he sees her
but BOY is he surprised when he finds out she’s the one you’re dating
Dean definitely does some double takes between you and Bekah
Sam approves, Dean approves, it’s all good
Rebekah likes them both and is pretty quick to accept them.
she probably asks her brothers why they can’t be more like Sam and Dean, not even gonna lie
That’s how it goes. Their first meeting. All three have some good laughs and right away, they approve
They want her to come over and when she does, they want her to come over a lot more
Rebekah is probably one of the only Mikaelsons who don’t come off as...well, who don’t come off as Klaus-like to them. She’s the best person you could’ve dated and they’re ever so happy you’re doing just that
They’d be cool if you were just friends with her, but still
She too is definitely up for hunting, especially if it means protecting you
Bekah also despised when Klaus judged her for using a knife and being a woman, so you don’t have any need to worry about her preventing you from doing dangerous stuff
that just might be the worry you SHOULD worry about tho
They’re untouchable after meeting her. No one may harm them without being thrown like a javelin past hell itself
Her dreams of having a family really touch Sam and get some approval points after he learns of them
As we know, she’s not as open about that until she wants to be
Tbh, I don’t think they’d think anything negative of/about her
Right off the bat, there was no need to hide her.
Introducing them was absolutely 100% worth it, and your brothers can vouch for that
no promises that their answers wouldn’t be bias
Kol Mikaelson
Tumblr media
Sam would rather you date Klaus than Kol, and that’s saying a lot.
While I would like to leave it at that, I have some headcannons to finish. So-
They really just- despise the living crap out of him during their first meeting
Dean thinks he can vibe with him, but then Kol says something Kol-like and Dean is just no
As we all know, Kol, in all three lifetimes he’s had, doesn’t have a filter.
In the slightest.
He won’t hold back.
Once he’s started, there’s no stopping him.
Dean has a filter, but not much of one; he’s a genuinely nice dude with nicer things to say than Kol, however, if those two get in a fight-
Sam would definitely jump in, but Kol’s lack of nice things to say in that moment, is also fighting him
have fun pulling that apart
But because he’s dating you, he has a soft side.
Once Dean and Sam find their way to his soft/good side, they like him a little more.
Sam will probably approve of him by then and forget all about his secret preference involving your love-life
Kol is up for any hunting the boys are doing as long as it doesn’t involve his family
Once the three are all buddies, he thinks of them as family
he thinks of them as off-limits when he first meets them because they’re related to you.
in his mind, no one can hurt them, but he’s allowed to threaten and injure them if they’re still living afterwards
When they’ve reached the family point of view, he’s all over protecting them
demands they allow him to join them on hunts but won’t admit why
They apply to the whole Mikaelson “no one hurts my family and gets away with it” thing
can we just thank Elijah for that quote for a sec? k thanks
Basically, you’ve been hiding him for good reason but if he does eventually get along better, you don’t regret it nearly as much as you once did

Okay you're my go to person for weird thoughts. So you know how luke tried to revive the jedi order? Was he just allowed to collect force sensitive kids and teach them the five days of training he got or did someone force him to like. Get a teaching degree. Did ahsoka help in any way? Did she force him to go to teacher school to get a degree in teaching? Seriously is luke qualified to teach a bunch of kids a religion and a sword club.
Anon you’re my absolute fave person bc your “weird” thoughts give me an excuse to ramble about my thoughts without feeling like I’m just throwing them in the void so please keep those thoughts coming.
And this house knows parts of canon, but acknowledges even less so say goodbye to the sequels and legends because I Have Opinions.
First of, I think that Luke gets Ahsoka, Ezra & Cal on board with his Skywalker-Amidala charm and stubbornness. Canon, give me the forbidden Luke meeting other Jedi content. He’s not gonna revive the Order on his own, he needs people (and Leia is getting training too ofc bc she deserves a lightsaber but she’s also a little more busy with politics). So, yes, he has help.
Next - and I apologize in advance bc I’m going super off tangent here but it’s kinda necessary and also nobody can stop me - Luke got them all assembled and he kind of assumes they’re really organizing it all as equals while the others are quite happy to have him be the official representative/head of the Order. It takes a while for that particular realization to settle in - I picture something like a person calling him the leader and he wants to protest but everybody else just goes along with it. (He does protest in the aftermath of the talk because all of them have more real training than he, but Ezra doesn’t want to be in charge, Cal doesn’t think he’s up for the job and Ahsoka thinks that if they are starting anew, somebody from the old generation shouldn’t lead. And Luke already Has A Reputation.) So, Luke gets put in charge.
Now to get to the kids rebuilding the Jedi Order!
Okay, so. How do you even go about starting up your new Order? I imagine they start with the people that are already there and are Force-sensitive. So you have Rebels there, people their age or even older and teenagers, whoever has the ability and wants to learn. (I just really want Luke to take a look at a pilot he’s been flying with and go “okay your reflexes are way too good for you to not have the Force” and that’s how he gets his first student.)
They settle on Yavin IV bc it has canon ties and I freaking love that place it looks so cool. Also there is no evil Sith Spirit because I Have Spoken. And like, they might be rebuilding the Order, but they still need people to keep that place running and those that come to train, don’t come on their own. Luke was saved because of his ties to his father, he wouldn’t separate families. So you probably start out with a Rebel base that’s not an active combat base, but hmm maybe they put a hospital here? A refugee camp as well? Anyway, there are people and that means jobs and point is - this new Order isn’t isolating itself and there is a growing community.
So any kids that become Jedi, are likely being raised by their parents and the community as well! And it’s not like any of the Jedi here can teach basic biology. Therefore they might just drop “the Jedi subjects” in-between normal school lessons and work. You can’t rebuild from nothing, you need a community. And if you work in that community, you pick up on things. So The Squad might not get teaching degrees but you learn while interacting with children. I’m studying to become a teacher rn and I haven’t had many didactic classes so far, but I’m also doing afternoon classes for primary school kids and the more you interact with children, the more you figure out how to teach them.
And in the panic that is bound to hit at least Ezra and Luke, they might download teaching manuals from the holonet.
(”’Teaching with games’? Think we can have them throw balls at each other with the Force?”
“Idk, Yoda’s training was kind of more focused on how to not die when you meet Vader and I was more concerned with surviving. Hey, Ahsoka, Cal is that how you did it-”)
But that is also more about how you teach and less what you teach. I mean, nobody thought you could come back from the darkside but guess what! Luke and his compassion proved the opposite! And none of them ever got the full Jedi training. Imagine Cal coming home one day like “Hey so I found this holocron, did you know about *starts going off about obscure knowledge none of them have ever heard about*”. And Force ghosts! How that worked and that they existed also wasn’t common knowledge while Luke probably assumes that is just a thing Jedi know. So, really, they are figuring their new tenets out themselves as well. And there is no 1-on-1 teaching because there aren’t enough even semi-trained Jedi for that.
Would anybody ask them for their Credentials? Maybe. But also, like, this community starts with people they already know. Word gets around. Cal helps set up a garden by decimating the offending trees with his lightsaber. These don’t stay mysterious magical Jedi for long, they get humanized. And if the Mandalorian has taught us one thing, it’s that untrained strong Force-sensitive kids are dangerous. So people might just be happy there is someone who knows what to do when your kid starts levitating their toys.
TLDR Step 1 is setting up a base and trial-and-error based communal teaching without actually going out into the galaxy to find Force-sensitive people.
Now imagine you got that down. They go out to find Force-sensitive people/children or they might also, with their growing reputation, get children dropped on their doorstep. So they are now directly responsible for children that do not have any other guardians. Some might get adopted into the community but otherwise? Congrats, you’re a parent Jedi Master. And because screw the First Order - my OT people get a happy ending, Yavin is not only the home of the budding Jedi Order but also a place to recover, heck they might have a city starting to really take off, so imagine when the Alliance finds a bunch of kids to be indoctrinated into Stormtroopers, they might just... drop them there. And if one or two are Force-sensitive, that means they are exactly where they belong! (Yes, you caught me, I just want Jedi Finn.) Bonus points if the kids pick their own last names or like, just take the name of the moon or, even better, the last names of the Jedi already running around.
So this is a very long-winded way of saying that I think the first years of this new Order are less schooling in a typical institutional setting and a lot more communal and family-orientated raising children in general with the result that Luke has a mug that says Galaxy’s Greatest Dad Jedi Master, a birthday gift given to him by one of the kids that never fails to make Han laugh at him.
TLDR Neither Luke, nor Ezra or Cal or Ahsoka have teaching degrees but nobody asks for parenting degrees either. Are they qualified? Depends on whether you’re expecting them to be people who give you grades for essays, or people trying to support you first.

Where do I fit into the SW fandom?
I'm pretty solidly a Sequels fan, but I have a special place in my heart for the Prequels. I'm a fic writer who dabbles mostly in canon universe AUs, what ifs, that sort of stuff. Primarily my fics have Rey with a tendency to focus on the First Order characters and plots.
My Top Faves
A classic Reylo fic from an old friend - Beneath the Facade. It technically has a prologue fic before it in the series, but this piece was the one that I really enjoyed way back in the EARLY days of Reylo.
Because I'm an insufferable Reylux fan, I have to rec at least one. This piece by @every-day-is-star-wars-day  a oneshot that ever so masterfully crushes my heart every time - Thread
My one Original Trilogy rec, this is a beast of a long fic but so, so good - Dark Times
My Own Stuff
Reylux, medieval AU - La Vita Primus - is the first in a small series of this AU
Reylo, TROS Fix-It - Oh but it's a dark future, my star. Oh but it's a soft morning for us soon.

Where do I fit into the SW fandom?
I’m mainly into the Sequels and the Mandalorian. I joined the server for Hux/Kylo/Rey and all the combinations of the characters in my ot3. I can edit better than I can write. Sometimes I comment on fics.
My Top Faves
A Dance of Titans by @lucidlucy is a really long reylux fic. The delicious slowburn makes all the flavors combine in an amazing way. Love how they battle the main villain!
My Own Stuff
I helped give feedback on the second part of a series. Does that count? This is knight_of_dance's fic. It's really cool to see writers' takes on Modern AU, and this one has influenced my ideas of what sort of kinks those characters have. :smirk: Switch Up

Arsanimo - Marion
Who Am I?
Hi, I’m Arsanimo, self taught artist and nerd from Germany that’s mostly lurking. You can find me with this username on tumblr, twitter and instagram. I draw mostly Reylo at the moment. ( @arsanimo, Arsanimo (Twitter), Arsanimo (IG))
Where do I fit into the SW fandom?
I‘m in my thirties and an OT fan since birth, because my dad was obsessed with Star Wars and we watched it a lot as kids - they are the go to christmas movies in our family. Even as a very small kid I loved Vader. I didn’t like the ST quite as much when it came out in cinemas but still watched them multiple times. I’m much more fond of them now. But my love for Star Wars really got renewed with the ST. I really liked TFA and TLJ a lot. Not a great fan of TROS though, but to each their own. I recently started watching TCW, if you haven’t go watch it! The Mandalorian is also great and feels more like the OT for me, which I love. Oh, and R1 was awesome, I loved that one! Solo also was good. I think I will be a lifelong fan because it’s such a rich universe and everybody can pick a favorite. I’m also good at ignoring the parts I don’t like, lol. But I‘m mostly exhausted about all the drama on social media, so at the moment I take a bit of a break from social media and only post from time to time. And I’m of the firm believe to ship and let ship and if the art and fics are good, you can also find me enjoying ships outside of Reylo (honestly, some Kylux art out there, woah... and Finnrey is always so tender but Stormpilot has two hot guys in it... and don’t get me started about Finnrose! You probably get the gist)
My Top Faves
It’s hard to name so few, there are so many good artists out there. But Winter of Her (Twitter) has some outstanding art in her own style. Than I really like the style of Khallion (Twitter), check her out.
My Own Stuff
And last but not least two pieces of mine that turned out pretty good

Knight_Of_Cookies
Who am I?
Allo allo, I go by many names but many know me as cookies here. Lol I'm from the US and I've been a lifelong A+, gold star , nerd my whole life. I love writing among 5 million other hobbies. I am on Tumblr and A03. (@knight-of-cookies, Knight_of_Cookies (AO3))
Where do I fit into the SW fandom?
It all started with the prequels which I fell in love with and even wrote my first fan fic on. (I dragged it from fanfic.net to A03 for my own form of personal torture) I dropped out of star wars until I was in Japan and a close group of friends got me to watch Roque One and play a star wars based table top role playing game, which dumped me back into this fandom hardcore. I fell in love with the sequel trilogy and now I'm stuck forever. Lol
I have been writing on A03 for around 2 years now for star wars and it's been the most productive and progressive work I've ever done thanks to ya'll.
Also, hey, I created this multishippers discord, because multishipping rocks and everyone should do it. :P I know I've never active enough but I love this space and the people in it! My fav part about multishipping is how I'm always discovering yet another ship that is awesome. It never ends. ^^
My top favs - (of things no one should be surprised by)
Beastie by @feckyeswriting. It spawned a written series(multiple actually)
Glutton by Witchoil. Just very good dark and wonderful kinky smut. Always go back to this one.
In the house that skywalker built by @aicosu. This story got me into Reylux in a way I'll never recover from.
My own stuff
Nothing but Themselves - This is my favorite beast of a story I've ever written and it will be beautiful when I finish it. One day. Lol
Tanzaku - One of my most polished pieces thanks to the Reylo Anthology. My best combo of: insert culture nerding here and captive Ben as personal tropes.

Note
Rey should have been a survivor of the second Jedi massacre or her parents were. It ties her storyline in with the Skywalkers but makes her survival paramount to the story of Ben and Luke. She is the accuser- you murdered my family and you abandoned them. Kenobi or Palpatine is so trite. Let the murdered younglings have their spot light.
HOLY SHIT ANON YOUR MIND
I legit think that’s one of my new favorite theories. That’s so cool!
I’ve actually seen some p decent arguments for Rey Palpatine believe it or not but me personally I just chafe against the idea that using past famous characters to prop up your new story doesn’t do anything really for the past characters’ stories and can just feel kinda forced to me!
Now people saying Rey Nobody is “original” when like...... literally ever famous non-Skywalker main character is a “nobody” technically (FINN was a nobody but—) lol doesn’t quite vibe with me either but.....
Hmmm I guess I just gotta say I was really into Rey either being a child of the Force like Anakin or related to the Skywalkers precisely because the movies just gave her so much of their legacy. And I just spend the entire time thinking like..... why does SHE of all people deserve the Falcon or the lightsaber or Chewie as a sidekick as opposed to, say, Finn or anyone else?? What makes her so deserving of the Skywalker legacy? What makes her special?
And while yeah, anybody can be a Jedi, that doesn’t mean anybody can be a Skywalker if they just scavenge enough stuff so I just feel the movies drew narrative points towards her and towards the Skywalkers and then failed to connect which leaves me feeling empty, like, if you’re not gonna make Rey a Skywalker please do not assign her the SKYWALKER legacy. The Jedi legacy? Yes, fine, that’s perfect, Rey is the last Jedi, ALL of the Jedi and she earned her place as a Jedi and should definitely hold the responsibility of training Finn and then he and her can reestablish an Order. But I think the sequels kinda tied up being a Skywalker with being a Jedi when in reality that’s almost the furthest truth in the world.
In the OT, Luke has a connection to Vader because he’s a Skywalker. But he saves Vader/Anakin because he is a Jedi and he follows their teachings to show an example to his father that Anakin can come back because Luke is a Jedi who believes in him.
So yeah the movies drew too many parallels with Rey to the Skywalker family, so that’s really the only secret family plot I feel would make narrative sense to her as well as the family she’s being connected to, as opposed to like, Obi Wan where it’s like “okay sure so he had a secret family somewhere that he literally never interacted with, how does that add to his character at all? And when he has no actual connection to Rey beyond blood, how does that add to HER character????”

Ben Solo/Kylo Ren: a character analysis
OK, first things first: THIS ISN’T A STAN OR ANTI POST. This is a character study, and if you can’t handle this character getting impartial concrit, just don’t read. If, however, you don’t agree with some of the points I’m going to make and want to have a healthy discussion about it, then I’m all ears. I don’t think my opinion is the only valid one, so feel free to try and change my mind.
And second things second: I tried so hard to love the sequel trilogy, but when it became clear after TROS that the studio had no plan other than making money, it became very difficult. I’m aware that the main problem for all the characters is the lack of general planing in this whole mess of trilogy, so keep this always in mind while reading this post: the first problem of this character was that the studio didn’t even know what to do with him.
Tumblr media
1. Does Ben Solo becoming Kylo Ren make sense?
I checked the comics to get his background better. He had a happy childhood traveling a lot with Han and Leia, but when she discovered about the First Order, she sent him to train with Luke while Han and Chewie ran undercover missions for her. This is important: up to this point, he had a good relationship with his family, even if he was already being pulled by the dark side of the Force. It was during his adolescence that he started to be really seduced by Snoke, hearing the voice he thought belonged to Darth Vader. After the Luke incident, he did explode the cabin and thought he had killed his uncle, but he was not the one who killed all the other students and destroyed the temple: that was Snoke’s thing. He did kill some of his fellow Jedi apprentices later on, though. So, his turning points were Luke’s treason and Snoke’s coordinated abduction. And I would like to point out: the Sith training involves torture and brainwashing, so the first wrong impression I would like to correct about this character is that he was not simply a dick and revolted teen who ran away to join a cult.
BUT, there are some huge problems here. The first one is that when you watch the movies, you don’t learn anything about that aside from Luke’s part. In the way he’s presented in TFA, he’s Leia and Han’s son who betrayed his family, destroyed his uncles’ dream and joined the dark side for no reason. OF COURSE half of the audience wouldn’t like him. That wouldn’t be a problem if they just wanted him to be a villain like Darth Vader was, but it’s very clear that there was a plan (at least for one director) to make him a supposedly redeemable character. And how can we sympathize with his character like that? Even after we get to know what Luke almost did, the next question is simple: ok, so why he didn’t go back to Han and Leia?
And here is the second huge problem: we learned that after Ben leaves Yavin IV, Luke vanished, and Han and Leia broke up and went back to smuggling/leading a rebellion. And I can’t stress this enough, this doesn’t make any sense. The sequel trilogy killed Luke, Han, and Leia’s characters. These three characters that we have known for years would never, ever, had abandoned Ben Solo. Leia F*cking Organa and Han shot-first Solo would have brought their son back or die trying. Luke Skywalker is not a coward, he wouldn’t go into hiding and abandoned his only sister to clean up his mess during another war, let alone close himself to the Force, knowing full well he wouldn’t be able to feel if she was in danger. Just remember Han risking his life to save Luke in Hoth; or Leia leaving the rebellion to rescue Han from Jabba; or Luke straight-up disobeying ghost Obi-Wan and ghost Yoda to save Han and Leia, even if that costed the war. They were older and different, for sure, but we are talking about the quintessential things, the things that make these beloved characters themselves.
Tumblr media
(THIS ^^. This right here is the spirit of Star Wars)
So no, in the way it was done in the movies, Ben Solo becoming Kylo Ren doesn’t make sense to the audience, and that’s a huge problem. A friend of mine suggested once that instead of being a rip-off of ANH, TFA should have been a movie about the beginning of the First Order (because after we defeat the Empire on episode VI, episode VII starting with ANOTHER all-powerful evil government already dominating the galaxy and exploding planets just throws away all the previous movies’ efforts) and about how Ben Solo becomes Kylo Ren. Just imagine if Rey, Finn and Poe had interacted with Ben Solo before he becomes evil: the stakes would have been so much higher, and it could have been well done. It would have made this character more human and likable.
2. Kylo Ren’s motivations: what does he want?
If the OT was about hope, I think we can agree that the ST’s themes are legacy and belonging. Having their protagonists, Rey and Ben/Kylo representing two apposite sides of those things was one of the best ideas for the new saga.  Rey looks for belonging in the past she doesn’t know, while Kylo wants to abandon Ben Solo’s past and find his place in his future as Kylo Ren.
In that sense, his character arc was somehow solid. In TFA, it’s clear he’s still struggling with the dark side and feels the temptation of the light: he loses control easily, and he’s not doing anything unless Snoke orders him to. Ok, but why? Why is he clinging to Darth Vader’s ideals and staying in the sith path? Basically because he thinks it’s too late, and he has no other options. Which brings us back to the problem with Han and Leia: his parents didn’t go after him, they chose to go back to their old lives – of course he would think there’s no going back for him now. “But he is an adult man and could make his own decisions.” It’s a fair point, but again: sith training corrupts you and even if he had escaped, the only thing that would happen would be Snoke finding him again. It’s kinda like leaving an addiction: you supposedly can do it by yourself, but it is so much easier if you have help. Not a simple promise or offer, but actual, constant, and present help. I can not stress this enough, but I insist that one of the main problems with the sequel trilogy was not explaining in a satisfactory way HOW and WHY he turned to the dark side and stayed there.
3. Han Solo
Okay, I will admit: maybe my opinion on this specific topic is biased, because Han Solo is my favorite SW character. You may call me out as a fangirl if you don’t agree, but my point is: making Kylo Ren kill Han Solo was a bad idea. They basically killed the character for half of the audience, with zero chance of redemption.
It’s because it’s fratricide. Unless your father is Satan, the Emperor, or someone as equally villainous, fratricide is just that bad. It’s not easy to redeem a character who commits murder, but one that kills his own father? Who happens to be one of the good guys? And one of the most iconic and beloved characters in the franchise? There were other options to give Kylo Ren a tipping point, a conflicted moment that didn’t involve killing Han Solo. But they did, and he killed him. And now he’s no longer a villain we can sympathize with: now we think he’s a monster.
4. His interactions with Rey in TLJ
(I’m not wearing shipper goggles for this. I don’t even own shipper goggles when we are talking about Star Wars.)
Kylo Ren is conflicted after killing Han Solo, (and I will make a small pause here to reinforce how good Adam Driver’s acting was. He’s the only responsible for all the likable parts of Kylo Ren, especially in this movie). Kylo is once again unstable and Snoke is displeased with him, and for a moment we think he finally turned completely to the dark side, until he pauses before shooting Leia’s ship.
The force bond was the most interesting part of the movie. I don’t agree that he used it to manipulate Rey: if anything, he was completely harsh and blunt and kind of a dick to her, but he didn’t lie. He told her things how he saw it, with so much conviction that she started to see his side of the story. And since she was probably the first person in years that actually listened to him, his decision of murdering Snoke and inviting her to join the dark side makes very much sense.
We are talking about motivations and his are simple: let the past die, forge a new path. When he kills Snoke and no longer has a master, he only has one option: to become the master. That’s why he takes over the FO, and wants Rey to be his apprentice. Does the character suffer from sith-tunnel-vision? Definitely. But it makes sense. His decision-making is not overly complicated: he feels alone, and he wants a purpose: he decides that the solution for both is Rey joining him in the dark side. When she refuses, he still has one purpose: the FO.
This is, however, the point where he turns his back to the light completely: on Crait, he orders the FO to explode the Rebel Base and kill everyone, knowing full well his mother was in there. He orders them to exploded the Falcon out of the sky, once again knowing that Chewie and Rey are on board. When facing Luke, he repeats that he will kill Rey and the rebels. His transition from conflicted sith apprentice to the new villain of the franchise was actually well done.
And exactly because of that, the next topic pisses me off so much.
5. The continuity problem between episodes VIII and IX
Introducing Palpatine here was bad for so many reasons: backtracking Rey’s arc, making us think about Palps’ sex life, insisting on beating a literal dead horse when there were new things to explore, etc etc. And it was also bad for Kylo Ren’ arc. As I said before, the way they finished episode VIII, everything pointed to Kylo becoming the final evil Rey would have to face, and that would have been awesome. We didn’t need Palps, or ANOTHER all-powerful evil army ready to conquer the galaxy with exploding-planets-tech (seriously, is Alderaan a joke to you, Disn*y?).
But, in the third movie, they went back and decided they didn’t want Kylo Ren to be the ultimate villain anymore. They wanted him to be redeemed. And that’s not bad per se, but an actual redemption arc needs to be planned, and I think we can all agree, there was no planning in the sequels. And again, FRATRICIDE. So they introduced an old, more powerful evil to make Kylo Ren less evil and less of a threat in comparison. And evil so definitive, and with such a bullshit connection to Rey, that it makes Kylo reconsider his previous promises of killing the last jedi and going back to the plan of making her turn.
And so, his character spends the movie going after Rey, to tell her the bullshit truth about her parents, to convince her to join him. At least his arc is still somehow solid, because once he’s decided on his path, he doesn’t lose control like in the previous movies, and his body language is more firm and lethal. Which, honestly, thanks Adam Driver, he knew the character way better than the director at this point.
He finally comes back to the light when Leia dies. Although it was rushed, I agree that, at that point, it was literally the only thing that could have made him turn. Rey reminding him that he wouldn’t be alone if he hadn’t chosen the dark side helped, too. It was clear that the moment with Han Solo was supposed to be with Leia, but I’m really glad Harrison Ford agreed to come back to fill in the role for his old friend.
Tumblr media
6. Ben Solo
Okay, there’s so much to unpack here. When Ben Solo finally comes out to play, it’s very good. We can finally see some things that explain Kylo Ren better – it’s so obvious how awkward he was in his own body trying to be an evil sith lord when he is clearly a natural disaster. He still suffers from tunnel vision, but at least now it’s Skywalker-do-or-die tunnel vision. It’s like a weight was lifted from his shoulders, and the way his actions scream Han Solo makes me, once again, wish the first movie had been about him, and not the whole “find a map/ Star Killer base was ANOTHER ridiculous idea / I know R2’s alignment is chaotic bastard but COME ON”.
Tumblr media
Star Wars has a notorious story with pulling Force powers out of nowhere, and I’m not going to pretend to be an expert in SW lore, so I won’t complain about the dyad thing (and the weird stuff with the light sabers). I honestly liked the concept. There’s a lot I have to say about the final battle against Palpatine, but I think it would fit better in a future character study about Rey (God, that’s going to be another long ass post). I just want to add that after Luke insisted on her taking both light sabers to Exegol, and after all the crazy stuff Ben did to get to her, they should have, you know, actually fought side by side against 85% dead Palpatine? Aren’t these two idiots supposed to be stronger than that?? I’m not complaining about Rey bringing him down “alone” since she is the protagonist yada yada, I just wished that Ben had done something, instead of being thrown into a hole.
(Palps did that out of spite because of his grandfather? I bet he did.)
I won’t say I didn’t cry hearing the voices of the past jedi talking to Rey, because I definitely did. If anything, it was great to see so many beloved actors getting a chance to honor such iconic characters. But are you freaking shitting on us? Where were ANY of those assholes when Luke, Leia and Ben needed them, like, ten years ago?? “Well, force ghosts should not be used as ex machinas, and they don’t see the future” Tell that to episodes IV, V and VI. Anakin, Obi Wan and Yoda can show up for Vader weird funeral/party with ewoks but they can’t send a jedi signal for the Skywalkers to warn them about Sith bullshit about to happen? “They were probably ahead in the world the comes next and they didn’t have a way to come back, they just talked to Rey because Exegol is a Force nexus and-” And so is Ach-To. And so is Yavin IV. And so is Dagoba (Yes, Snoke sent Ben there for training). Look, I have no problems with Force Ghosts, I love them bastards. I’m just so freaking mad with the lack of coherence in this trilogy. If they did not talk to the Skywalkers – and I’m sure at least Luke and Ben asked Obi Wan/Anakin to show themselves A LOT – they should not have talked to Rey. It was a crowd please moment, for sure, but it was another gigantic middle finger to Ben Solo (before he becomes Kylo Ren).
And then Rey died, and Ben brings her back. I know how many funny jokes are going around in the fandom about how resurrecting Qui-Gon or Padme would have saved the galaxy so much trouble, but again, I’m okay with that. It was previously established that since they were a dyad, they had this living Force between them (although it was rushed in the final like everything else). And it does make sense Ben doing that: he had just come back to the light, and his parents were both dead. Han and Leia were gone because of him, the last time he saw Chewie was as his captor, and before that, he got shot by him, etc, you get the idea. He had nothing else, only this: the chance to make it right by a person that genuinely cared for him. Exchanging his life for Rey’s was nothing: he knew that his family would be waiting for him in the world that comes after.
So, did I like the Bendemption? It. Was. Not. A. Redemption. It was the right choice, and it made things right between him and Rey, because she forgave him for everything. But that’s it. He did not face the consequence of any of his previous actions. “But he died for her!” And we just established that it was not a difficult choice, considering that he had literally no reasons to stay alive if Rey was dead. If you want to see an actual redemption arc, go watch Avatar the Legend of Aang.
And finally, the kiss and the death. Okay, I know I’m digging my own grave by addressing that, but my mama raised no coward. Here it goes: it was fan service, pure and simple. It’s there to make part of the fanbase happy. Good for you, reylos, but to us, not shippers, it came out of nowhere. And I’m not questioning if they had feelings for each other or not: I’m talking about pacing and characterization. I’m not 100% convinced that Rey, as a character, as she was presented to us so far, would have done that. It felt out of place, and it broke the immersion of the scene. I was emotionally invested on what was going on, I was happy to see Ben smiling at her and everything, but then suddenly they were sucking faces and the “FAN SERVICE” alarm was so loud in my mind that I immediately lost interest. If they wanted that in the movie so much, there was probably a better way to do that.
It makes sense that Ben had to die to bring Rey back: one life for another and everything. I still think that, story-wise, it would have been better if none of them had died a ridiculous death, and Ben had faced the consequences of his actions as Kylo Ren, but okay, moving on.  The main problem here is what happens after he dies: nothing. Absolute-effing-nothing. He dies, he disappears – which, again, I won’t question because Leia was involved and Skywalkers do whatever they want with the Force and I’m no expert – but that’s it. Rey, the same Rey that had just jumped his bones fifteen seconds earlier, doesn’t even mourn him. She doesn’t cry, she doesn’t do anything for him in the end, she just goes to Tattooine because it makes sense to the Skywalker saga to end where it started. She sees more of those Force Ghosts who never appear when they freaking should and that’s it.
Why is it bad? Well, first, like it or not, Ben Solo/Kylo Ren was one of the main characters and he deserved an actual final. Finn and Poe too, but those are long posts for another day. And second, it makes the fan-service in that kiss scene more evident. You can’t have the girl kiss him and in the next scene act like it didn’t matter at all. “Ok, then it was a thank-you kiss and there were no real feelings of loved involved”. But that makes it worse, it would be even more completely out of character for Rey – who avoids physical contact with people on the regular – to just kiss someone as a thank-you. Do you see how the math does not compute? If she had feelings for him, and therefore kissed him, she should have mourned him. If anything, she should at least miss her other part of the dyad thing. And if she didn’t mourn him because she didn’t have actual feelings, then she should not have kissed him. A little consistency, it’s all I’m asking.
Tumblr media
7. Conclusions (aka tl;dr)
He was a somehow consistent character, but the lack of plot for the sequels was a huge problem. If the trilogy had been about Ben Solo becomes Kylo Ren – Kylo Ren kills Snoke and becomes the real villain – Rey faces Kylo Ren and she either saves him or kills him, it would have been so much better than the mess the studio did.
His story in the comics is so much more complex than what it is shown in the movies, but what they did to Han, Leia and Luke was a crime.
It was clear that one director had a vision to give him a redemption, and the other to make him the ultimate villain.
Adam Driver did what he could to make this character solid and somehow likable, let’s thank him for that.
There was no reason to bring Palps back,
Rey’s actions in the final are contradictory,
He should have stayed alive to face the consequences of his actions,
and the studio is charged guilt for getting our hopes up just to crush them with their lack of interest in doing something descent for the fans.
But again, that’s just my analysis of this character. Feel free to disagree with me, I would love to see what other people think about Ben Solo/Kylo Ren.

You know, thinking back now, one of the big problems with the Star Wars sequel trilogy is simply too many characters. It’s hard to say where the straw was the broke the camel’s back, although by Rise of Palpatine, with a new droid sidekick, new girlfriends for Finn and Poe, and a new, non-comic relief villain (actually, like, a dozen of them?), the camel had well and truly been Bane’d. When people are complaining that Rose Tico, who was introduced as a major character in the very last movie, is now a cameo, you know something has gone wrong.
The thing is, this is a problem of premise. The selling point of the ST was that it would bring back the classic characters from the OT. That’s Han, Luke, Leia, and Lando. Not to mention Chewie, R2-D2, and C-3PO. Even though those three aren’t exactly the most three-dimensional characters, it still wouldn’t really feel like Star Wars without them. So that’s seven characters the story has to serve right there. Even splitting the trilogy up to give each of them a ‘showcase,’ people still minded that 3PO and R2 (for instance) got sidelined.
Plus, it’s literally a Star Wars movie--we need to have bad guys. And it needs to be explained where they come from, what their motivations are, how they relate to the main characters; otherwise, the plot would make no sense. (Spoiler alert: the plot makes no sense).
Then, finally, we have the new kids. I actually think the decision to have a new ‘power trio’ was wildly optimistic, not to mention having a new droid sidekick instead of (or rather, in addition to) 3PO and R2. BB-8 would be fine in a Knights of the Old Republic movie or something, but he’s a bridge too far in this thing.
Now to compare, who made the transition from the prequels to the OT? Anakin, Obi-Wan, Yoda, the Emperor, and the droids (you can get technical and claim Owen Lars or Chewie, but c’mon). Of course, Palpatine and Vader do double-duty as our villains, so that keeps the roster down, we really only have two main characters coming back and continuing their story, leaving plenty of room for Luke, Leia, Han, and Lando to take center stage.
Also, it’s not really a mystery what happened at any point in the OT. Even if we haven’t seen the prequels, the characters relay the essentials of how the Jedi Order fell, the Old Republic was replaced by the Empire, and so on. There’s no big mystery to be solved, just some twists that are very openly explained to the audience, usually by Luke stopping and having a conversation with Obi-Wan or Yoda.
In the ST, eating away yet more screentime, we have endless mysteries of how the Empire is back, how the Resistance relates to the New Republic, who Snoke is, what motivates Kylo Ren, who Rey is--by Rise, we’re even asking if Finn is force sensitive and if Poe was a drug smuggler! Some of these questions are answered, but a lot of them are left hanging or turn out to have less than satisfying pay-offs. It’s kinda funny that the ST people were so allergic to the prequels’ politics and exposition, without realizing that a lot of gratuitous action and shouting and running around can be just as dull when it isn’t underlaid by well-rounded characters and real emotion.
Tumblr media
Look! Things are blowing up! I’m having fun!
I guess the ST ended up being the love story of Kylo Ren and Rey Palpatine? And also that it’s okay to make mistakes and weapons manufacturers are bad? Not since Cartoon All-Stars To The Rescue have so many beloved characters come together to relay such a banal message.

Thoughts on The Rise of Skywalker
Just a disclaimer that this post contains TROS spoilers
Hi there, it’s me again sharing my views on the latest Star Wars as a Reylo, fan and former film student (the latter may show at some point but it’s mostly a fan view).
I had pretty high expectations for this movie and I was not not happy leaving the screening, but I had some things that I thought would go down differently so here’s what I think.
Rey
I really like how organic Rey and Kylo’s connection and intimacy is portrayed in The Last Jedi, and J.J. expanded a bit on that which I think it’s very nice (and apparently they can teleport things via ForceSkype now which is an interesting take but I understand the reasoning).
One thing that I didn’t really like is that Rey is a Palpatine. I’ve seen one theory on this and it makes sense now, yet I was a great supporter of the theory that Rey was really a nobody, that she came from nothing like Kylo said. She could’ve been just like Anakin who didn’t have either Jedi nor Sith ancestors.
On a more positive note, Rey’s conflict with herself is an ongoing theme in this trilogy and I believe it was really well developed and has come to a satisfying conclusion. I felt like she was a bit lost in the beginning and I thought it was going to be an issue later on but thankfully it got better before it was too late.
Also Rey is so goddamn powerful and strong with the Force I love her so much.
When Rey and Kylo are battling in the old Death Star and she stabs him with his own lightsaber but then she feels Leia’s gone and immediately realises what she has done and without second thought she kneels to heal Ben crying. My heart exploded I felt so many things at once I can’t explain.
“I wanted to take your hand. Ben’s hand.” hsdcsgfyufgyufgeryfcgeif i died.
The ForceSkype teleporting feature I ALMOST FAINTED BECAUSE I GENUINELY THOUGHT SHE WAS GOING TO KILL BEN INSTEAD OF PAPLS WHEN THEY EXCHANGED LOOKS I WAS SO RELIEVED AND HAPPY WHEN SHE GAVE HIM ANI’S BLUE LIGHTSABER.
DARK REY WITH HER DOUBLE RED LIGHTSABER.
THAT YELLOW LIGHTSABER. I WANT IT. NOW.
Also maybe that “I am all the Jedi” line is a nudge to Avengers: Endgame? (*cof* hi Disney *cof*)
Kylo Ren/Ben Solo
Next up is ma boi Kylo Ben, who has been my favourite character this whole trilogy and hell Adam Driver portrayed him so wonderfully. In TLJ he grew so much as a character, not only as a villain but a person who went through a lot, has an abusive master and is constantly being haunted by the guilt of killing his father.
To start this off, I want to talk about those first scenes. OH MY GOD KYLO TAKING ALL THOSE PEOPLE IN THE FOREST IN SLOW MOTION AND HIS SOLO JOURNEY TO EXEGOL. After that I got mad at Palps when one of his first lines was “I have been every voice you have ever heard inside your head” because it means Ben has been manipulated his whole life and didn’t really have a choice other than turn to the dark side.
Kylo’s arc is by far my favourite and in my (completely biased) opinion the best written one. When he’s introduced in TFA, he’s a promise of a new Vader but he’s not quite there yet. Kylo has conflict inside him, a spark of light still, and to put out that spark once and for all he’s instructed by his master to kill Han Solo, but as we’ve seen it has “split his spirit to the bone”, to quote Snoke.
Later on in TLJ when the ForceSkype starts we begin to see more of Kylo’s vulnerable side, specially when Rey is talking to him in the hut. Kylo takes his fcking glove off to take Rey’s hand and that’s when Reylo became canon and you can’t change my mind.
Fast forward to TROS, Kylo is already the Supreme Leader and he’s as strong as Rey (but most likely more skilled because he had extensive training while Rey had only a few lessons and read some books?) and they are Force Dyads which makes them absurdly powerful together.
One thing I noticed is that every time Rey and Kylo claim to have seen the future both of them are always on the same side, either Dark or Light, but always together. They’ve never mentioned a future where they are apart and/or on different sides. *all the Reylo feels*
Then when both are battling in the old Death Star and Rey stabs him but heals him shortly after and Ben is ready to let Kylo Ren die to become Ben Solo again is brilliant. And that dialog with Han made me shed a tear or two. (a random side note is that I got a tiny bit upset when he threw his lightsaber away because his lightsaber is so cool and I just got one myself but I absolutely understand the need to get rid of it).
I WAS SO HAPPY WHEN MY BABY BEN SOLO BURST INTO PALPATINE’S CHAMBERS (?) WITH ONLY A BLASTER AND LOOKED SO GOOD. Also I almost cried when he took the blue saber and beat the shit out of the Knights of Ren.
LITERALLY THE RISE OF SKYWALKER.
BEN HUGGING REY’S BODY RIGHT BEFORE RESURRECTING HER.
“Ben”
THE KISS. THAT SMILE.
BEN SOLO DESERVED BETTER.
And yes, I believe Ben Solo isn’t truly dead and Rey can help him come back and they can live happily like they deserve to be.
Thank you Adam Driver for being the highlight of this movie (and dare I say, trilogy) and bless us with amazing acting.
Poe Dameron
I love Poe, he’s great and I loved that they gave him more screen time and I get they were trying to build another trio like in the OT but maybe making Poe, who was already a great pilot like Han also be a former (spice) smuggler is a bit much? We could use new characters and it’s okay if you wanna recycle the idea but please don’t make them identical.
Another very important point is why do you need to make up a female love interest for Poe when there’s clearly one already? During the whole movie I felt a sexual tension between Finn and Poe just not to have them together in the end, I was very disappointed. MAKE STORMPILOT CANON YOU COWARDS.
Finn
To be honest, Finn is not one of my favourite characters and I believe it’s mostly due to poor writing. Finn is a great character and had so much potential being a deserter of the First Order but his arc wasn’t so well developed in the trilogy as a whole and one of the arcs I least enjoyed in TLJ was Finn and Rose’s adventure in Canto Bight. It all felt like a distraction even though they were doing something seemingly important but failed at the end.
In TROS, Finn finds a group of other Stormtrooper deserters and I thought maybe it’d push his storyline forward but not so much. I was a bit disappointed but there were also lots of other things happening that I didn’t pay much attention to Finn, one of the reasons being that I already didn’t care much about him before so now it was kind of meh.
I said it before and I’ll say it again, MAKE STORMPILOT CANON.
A positive thing on Finn is that now they explored how Finn is Force-sensitive and now he finally realised he doesn’t need to run away and is willing to fight.
Rose Tico
As I’ve mentioned before, her arc with Finn wasn’t my favourite in TLJ but that’s okay because you can’t make everyone happy all the time, yet I saw many people complaining about her character and even Kelly was attacked that she left social media. And now there were so many complaints that they decided to basically ignore Rose and she’s in like three scenes.
I don’t think they even gave a plausible explanation why Rose couldn’t come along with Finn, Poe and Rey other than the fans didn’t like her character and they were trying to recreate the original trio.
General Hux
Well, to be honest I was almost certain he would die at some point but killing him off like that? He deserved a bit of dignity. But his scenes were funny, which I’m not sure if it’s good or bad because he’s a First Order general so... he’s supposed to be more serious, I guess?
As weird as it is, I kinda get his motives for being the spy, to see Kylo Ren fall so he could ascend to the Supreme Leader position, but things didn’t work out but at least we got a bit of that Kylux tension, right? *sigh*
Knights of Ren
One of my great disappointments of this movie.
They didn’t say a word, were only referred as murderers (not sure about the word exactly but it was something like that), had a couple of fight scenes and died. I wish they made an appearance in TLJ but they were only mentioned in Rey’s vision and Snoke mentioned them once but that was it.
They had some really impressive costumes and weapons, though.
Overall a great movie, lots of nostalgia, would recommend.
So there it is, my thoughts on The Rise of Skywalker after watching it for the first time. Please feel free to share your thoughts as well and let’s talk :)

Force jump/flying (TROS meets The Rise of Kylo Ren or Kylo Ren finally meets his peer in Rey)-part 1
This is part 1, there goes part 2 : https://amyltia.tumblr.com/post/619486607502950400/force-jumpflying-tros-meets-the-rise-of-kylo-ren
1. In the Rise of Kylo Ren : Ben is special and different from the students
The fact that Ben has more power than the rest of his companions (Voe, Tai, etc, all Luke’s students) is highlighted in The Rise of Kylo Ren : it causes Ben’s solitude, help him feel like a monster when it is said to him, etc. And the emblem of that difference between Ben and them is that when he fights Tai, Voe and kills the third one (I’m ashamed I forgot his name actually), Ben uses a force jump and Voe tries to do it too but Tai says they can’t do it like Ben aka we got Ben alone with his power of force jump on one side and the rest of the students (more or lesse skileed) on the other, there is a line separating Ben from the others.
2. BUT in The Rise of Skywalker : Ben is special, but so is Rey, they are different from others but not from each other
In TROS, in the Death star 2 battle between Rey and Kylo, what is the power they use the most ? It’s the force jump (they keep moving from plateform to plateform). Both are doing it and when they jump both waits for the other or anything that means he/she expects without a doubt the other to be able to do the same (it’s not even a matter of surprise or hesitation, i.e. Rey at the 2nd or 3rd jump lands first and watches the sky expecting Kylo to come from his jump, the surprise being that he doesn’t [Why btw?]).
There is even one frame when we are from Finn point of view and we see Rey and Kylo force jumping and disapearing in the mist : another line is drawn between those 2 force users with equal ability and Finn (casual force sensitive). The line is this time between the dyad, the special and different ones, and the rest thanks to the use of the force jumps, working as an indicator of the intimate connection of the dyad, their “oneness” to quote the novelization. They are no match for any force users but each other. No more solitude because thay have each other as equal. They are special but unlike when Ben was the only one special in TROKR, this time they are special and different TOGETHER, so they really are not alone.
So comparing those two scenes (Ben/students in TROKR and Ben and Rey/Finn representing anyone outside the dyad, even if he is a very close friend of Rey in TROS) highlights that Ben has found his equal and with Rey he is not alone. She never had to face this kind of isolation (feeling different because feeling like a “token student” or “prize sutdent” (from KROKR if I rememrber correclty?) anyway because of her abilities that beats those of her peers.
3. Definition of a dyad : the line is always outside the dyad
This dynamic is the core of the relation Rey/Ben and I think it’s very interesting to see its different manifestations. In this case, it’s by moving the line and including FOR THE FIRST TIME Ben in a group (of 2 only but still aha). More than that, that group only of 2 is not any group it’s a dyad and comparing those scenes also shows the strength, connection and exclusive/excluding aspect of the dyad. In TROS Kylo said they were a dyad and we kinda got what it meant but not exactly so this scene (and this comparison of scenes - and this comic also works as an addendum to TROS, adding even more depth and intensity to TROS) for the first time since we know they are a dyad SHOWS us what a dyad is, means, foreshadowing the ending and the final fight against Palpatine during which the dyad is acting together, it is there again (but differently) two (Rey and Ben) against one (Palpatine).
So that is in a concrete way what the dyad is : drawing a line between the dyad and the rest, and erasing any obstacle between the dyad, making them equal and showing their connection. Yeah I know the whole ST does that, but it puts it in a whole new light when it does it whith us knowing what the connection is. [I need to think this throught a little more tho]
[Might be interesting to compare the death star fight (the dyad excluding an ally) and the Palpatine fight (the dyad excluding an antagonist)]
Well as a conclusion what can I say : that’s reylo ladies and gentlemen
4. I’d like to compare it to the force jumps in the rest of the saga :
1) Obiwan and Anakin both do it if I remember correclty, and yet it doesnt feel like in does in TROS. Probably because in the trilogy we see many others jedi and characters do it (Yoda during his fight, etc.) So it doesnt connect Obi and Ani specifically but it shows their belonging to a community of others jedi (still making it painful in ROTS when they fight the same way, as real brothers, belonging to the same community and by using the same abilities on both sides it shows the destruction of the community they belong to, and the division, the fact that Anakin is dividing himself from this community). WHILE in the ST case Rey and Ben are the only ones who we have seen do it (we havent even seen Luke do it) so it makes them both special. And with TROKR we understand HOW MUCH special it is indeed.
2) OT : There part 2 : https://amyltia.tumblr.com/post/619486607502950400/force-jumpflying-tros-meets-the-rise-of-kylo-ren
