ngl this actually got me few viewings to get but Arthur is actually a mother hen?? I mean yes he forgets to sleep eat etc etc but it’s only actually himself he fails to take care but is actually the mom friend of the group idk.. for example A. Cobb and the two year B. Carefully guiding Ariadne they the entire thing C IS EVERYONE OKAY AFTER THAT SHOOTOUT??!! and the best; they took care of everyone in level 2.. there was something so gentle about the way he handled the sleeping lot, so contrast to the brute way he was fighting.. I mean yusuf was more or less like “F you all I’m driving this van off bridge hope you all are ready” lol. Arthur mother hen extraordinaire who unfortunately doesn’t care about himself me thinks

One of Arthurs greatest strengths, and greatest weaknesses, is that he gives a shit. That's what makes him a great point man. He is the mom friend - he is the mother hen. God, I can't remember exactly what fic it is exactly, but they manage to highlight this very aspect of Arthur -- the problem with Arthur, as rough and cold as he appears, is not that he doesn't care - it's that he cares too much.

And I don't even think he goes 'mother-hen' just about anyone - but he does to those he thinks needs protection, and those he cares about - and to ensure a job is done properly. He could of kept Ariadnes training to the basics but he warned her about Cobb's pitfalls. Told her about Mal. I think he's the only one who makes sure everyone has a spare key, makes sure no-one has any ill-effects from the somnacin before going under, and I know, bet me a million dollars, that Arthur made sure everyone had something nice to wear in the first class cabin.

I don't know if he doesn't care about himself, but I think it's just been habit for him his whole life to be on the lookout and care for others, to maybe be worried that people can't take care of themselves, and to insert himself in just in case - even if that worry is often unfounded. And maybe that after he feels everyone is okay, then he can worry about himself.

Arthur would be the best and the worst host at a party - because while he make sure everything is perfect, he forgets to have fun himself. Maybe that he's not a stick-in-the-mud, just a realist - and too often it's been up to Arthur to ensure the wheels keep turning.
