#i love juvia so much she deserves to be happy

I finished the Tartaros arc and I have feelings. I’m making these feelings other people’s problems.
Lucy never wanted to be alone or neglected. So as a kid she always summoned Aquarius to be her friend. Aquarius only convinced Lucy to summon the Celestial Spirit King by telling her that Lucy has friends to lean on. But in the end, Lucy was alone again. Natsu and Happy left and Makarov disbanded the guild.
Juvia effectively killed Grays father. She loves Gray so, so much and had to take away his only remaining family. But the most heartbreaking part for her is that she told him. She said that she doesn’t deserve to love him but yet still does. And he thanked her.
Gray met his dad. But he ended up leaving too. The hug will never not make me sob. Sometimes a father’s hug is all you need and Gray will never have another. He didn’t want to fight Silver, let alone kill him. But he had to for his new family, Fairy Tail.
Erza finally admitted to the Tower hurting her. She locks everything so far away that any raw emotions are confusing. I don’t think any of the Tower kids will ever heal.
Natsu. All he ever fought for was to see Igneel. He wanted to talk with him, show him that he learned to write, and cook, and is powerful. It is all Natsu wanted. But he never got it. Igneel was murdered in front of him and they never truly got to talk and ask questions and be a father son. Igneels parting words were to “Look to the future, where the power of life lies,” so Natsu did just that. Acnologia would probably attack again in the future, so Natsu left to become stronger and protect his remaining family.
Sorry for the rants, this arc is so heartbreaking and good. Don’t get me started on Believe in Myself.

borderline illiterate gruvia think piece.
happy gruvia day i guess!
so like…… im a grown woman. so believe me when i say at this point i rly couldnt care to be genuinely bothered by antis. like i will literally just block them lmao. ok yes i did write a whole fic revolving around a comment by an anti KFHDKSJWJEDK but i rly wasnt mad i was just genuinely inspired by what they said.
ANYWAYS! nonsensical 294820381002 word rant incoming from the “unbothered” grown woman.
seeing people say how gray is out of character in 100 yq/has stockholm syndrome are literally missing the entireeeee point of his and juvia’s relationship and its crazy!!
*side note, i think for the sake of helping gray’s character and development, they sacrificed a lot of cool things about juvia and a lot of her individuality which i do not like. but thats a rant for another time. btw do notttt even come for me bc she is literally still by far my fav character lmao*
im probably gonna go on for too long about this but gray’s whole fucking character throughout the whole story from beginning to end is centered around the fact that hes cold and closed off and grumpy and “too cool” and listen im not saying this is fucking rocket science or any type of transcendent literature by any means but i HAVE to point out that hes a fucking ice wizard. like. duh. im sure his character/personality was meant to go along with abilities i mean look at literally EVERYONE else in fairy tail.
ANYWAYS the reason he is this way is because he’s so used to losing all of the people he loves and even worse, hes used to so many people sacrificing themselves for him.
and it traumatizes him!! so many people hes been close to have died and he ultimately always thinks its his fault! lord knows im rusty with ft knowledge but his parents died (cant remember if it was in any type of sacrificial way teehee), Ur sacrifices herself for gray, ultear sacrifices herself for gray, and his dad dies AGAIN (once again, not sure if this was in a sacrificial manner lmao. i kindaaa think it was? maybe? shrug.). but POINT IS! theres a common theme of loved ones dying and/or sacrificing themselves for him. there might even be more people lmao idfk.
so what happens when he meets a girl who has an overwhelming and unwavering and infinite love for him?! he is freaked the fuck out!!! for a couple reasons! 1. he is so used to losing the people that love him and 2. he doesn’t even think hes deserving of any love to this degree!
then what happens? he PUSHES HER AWAY! KEEPS HER AT A DISTANCE!!!! because THATS ALL HE KNOWS!!!!!!!!! yes he has his friends who love him but no one has ever loved him in the way and abundance that JUVIA DOES! so he has to react appropriately! lots of love = lots of keeping her at an arms length!
so when he thinks he loses juvia in their fight with invel, and she comes back, dont we think it would make sense that he finally realizes he should accept his feelings for her? i mean remember when he said he promised her an answer AFTER the war? once again, like gray, pushing things off. and then he almost LOSES HER without ever telling her how he feels! so gray realizes life is short! theres no use in trying to deny ur feelings! these are common themes in like 85% of my gruvia drabbles lmao.
im not even saying that it was love at first sight for him and that gray liked her from the jump. bc i dont think thats true. i think we can finally see outward romantic feelings for juvia right after the tartaros arc, when juvia visits gray at his parents’ grave. but before that, i think juvia was a friend (wellll i feel like after the tenrou island arc he liked her more than a friend, but he didnt really realize how much more) who he cared about, and truly didnt know what to make of her because like i said, hes never known a person to love him so much and actually not die LMAO.
but my point is, juvia is the perfect person to be gray’s romantic partner. she is a person so full of love and so happy to love and she doesnt care who knows it. she is unequivocally herself and she wears her heart on her sleeve to the upmost extent.
it literally only makes sense for his character to end up with her!
u could argue gray doesnt need to end up with anyone at all bc he has his friendsssss and likeeee. sureee. fine. but what fun is that? i personally want to see the scared-of-love grump to find his person. i think, again, thats kind of the point of gray’s character- learning u are worthy of love, accepting love, and learning to love openly.
im sorry but literally what better happy ending for him than to be with juvia?
so fast forward to 100 yq, where he is just sooooo out of character apparently. dont we think that may actually be…. character development?
the boy who probably couldn’t even fathom a romantic relationship is now finally accepting he’s in love. he’s done pushing it off, he’s done denying, he’s done depriving himself of feeling love. thats a step in the right direction! now what? in true gray fashion, he thinks hes still not good enough! and that’s where we are now. he’s not confident, he thinks he’s weak, and he thinks he cant protect her. why? he knows she loves him. he knows he’s objectively a strong wizard. so why does he feel inadequate? CIRCLE BACK!!! TO WHO GRAY IS AS A PERSON!!!! SINCE DAY ONE!!! constantly in fear of losing his loved ones! thinking he can’t protect them! SCARED TO LOVE!
like im sorry the proof is soooo in the pudding and i totally understand if gruvia isn’t ur cup of tea but to say things arent making sense is silly to me! they actually make perfect sense!
and yknow what. im gonna go from a romantic standpoint to a realist standpoint. years ago, mashima said he likes gray and juvias dynamic and didnt have anything serious in mind for them anytime soon. so he kept that going for literally the entire series. well. he ended fairy tail alluding to the fact that gray and juvia were kinda together at that point. or he at least ended it with the pretty obvious conclusion that gray does in fact have feelings for juvia. so then when ft 100 yq starts what was he supposed to do? act like all of their development in the last arc never happened? that would be kinda hard to do!
whatever i just hope at least like 3 of these sentences were coherent lmao u guys get my point

Hey! Im glad i managed to wake up early in the end! Here are my two requests and thank you so much for your great writing!
1. Yanderes of your choice (the ones who wear masks/cover their faces or are just insecure about their appearances in general) with a darling who always compliments their face, saying they look amazing and that they love all of them/the first time they see the yans face their reaction is to get all :OOOO and compliment it
2. yanderes of your choice with a minor deity reader, who doesn't have the same perception of boundaries as a normal person does plus is just happy they have a follower at least.....?
Tw: Yandere themes, toxic relationship, possessive behavior, obsession, delusional mindset, clinginess, manipulation

Minor Deity s/o
Ash Landers
Tumblr media
▫️You may not be known very well as other deities are but with Ash you pretty much already have the most devoted and loyal follower one could ask for. Yet the fact that you were forgotten seems to affect him much more than it has affected you ever as he is in utter grief and sorrow when he finds out about it. Deities are supposed to be worshipped and treated with reverence yet humans truly seem to have forgotten how to pay respect and he is determined to see it through that your name will be called in prayers once again. After he has purified London, that is. With his darling being a literal deity though, Ash feels immense pressure to see it through that everything will be perfect for you. He lets churches and temples be build in your name and starts searching for humans he thinks would be worthy enough of worshipping you as he is basically planning to collect a cult for you. Your obvious clinginess is constantly overwhelming him though as he doesn't see himself as worthy for being touched by a deity like this, especially since he hasn't done anything to deserve it.
Juvia Lockser
Tumblr media
💧Juvia is constantly swooning over pretty much everything you do as her obsessive tendencies only increase as she figures out that you are an actual deity. You are literally perfect in her eyes. She spends days and weeks crafting a small shrine for you where she always leaves flowers, pastries or anything else for you as a sign of her adoration and love. She has a rather strange relationship with the idea of collecting other followers for you though. On the one hand she wants people to notice you because you are the most perfect and beautiful being as the mere thought that no one has ever been a follower of yours angers her greatly. On the other hand she also doesn't want to lose all the attention and affection she gets solely because she is the only one who calls herself a follower of yours now. You are very clingy with little to no perception of boundaries but since Juvia is exactly the same, this is just utterly perfect for her. The idea of you giving such attention to other people if they would start believing in you is a big cause of her jealousy as she would like to remain as someone special to you even if you should collect more followers.
Yato
Tumblr media
🪙Both of you share very similar struggles yet Yato shows much more concern for you as a deity will disappear if no human remembers them so he is very desperate to get you more followers. He starts with Hiyori as he asks her to not forget you for her entire life and to remember you and she really goes all out of her way to build you a small shrine similar to the one she has crafted for Yato. Otherwise Yato literally goes around with Yukine to fulfill his jobs whilst trying to advertise for you. Whilst you don't show any panic or fear due to having so only Hiyori as a human who believes in you as of now, he still feels like he has to do everything he can to cheer you up to keep you happy. He has very good intentions but at times he can go a bit too far by literally wracking some damage to induce humans with the belief that it was the work of you just to get their attention on you. Hiyori and you are ususally quick to scold him for it as you don't want to be remembered as a deity who harms other people. Yato happily indulges in your clinginess though because he can be quite touchy himself but he does get jealous quickly when you show similar amounts of affection to Yukine and Hiyori.

Gave him her heart
Ship: Natsu Dragneel x Lucy Heartfilia Summary: Lucy worries about what to get Natsu for his birthday, not knowing how ridiculously easy it actually is. Day 5 of Nalu Week 2023 - prompt: gifts Ao3
***
Natsu was a good man. He was wild, fun, crazy, but most of all: good. Lucy was very aware of this and knew that such a good man truly deserved the best. So, naturally she felt slightly panicked when she realised his birthday was coming up.
Lucy liked to believe that she was good at giving gifts. She was observant, both on the battlefield and off, so she knew what people looked a little extra at when they browsed shops or went by markets. Wendy turned to sweets, cute dresses or jewellery, something Lucy was relieved over when she noticed it – Lucy was nothing if not good at picking clothes and accessories, and Wendy was transparent with her tastes (sweet = good, savoury = fine, if there was a good reason to why it was gifted, otherwise a little weird, and sour = danger zone. It could be risky, but citrusy tastes were appreciated in sweet desserts). Erza was also easy to please with gifts – either go the sword and armour route, or go the girly route, possibly with some suggestive books. Gray appreciated nice soaps and clean décor for his house, and if she wanted to be funny with him she could always gift him underwear, seeing as it was the only clothing that stayed on for a while (though since him and Juvia got together it wasn’t really an option – Juvia didn’t care too much about what Lucy gave him, underwear or not, but Lucy herself felt weird about it, so nowadays she kept to soaps). Carla liked tea and pretty dresses as well, but appreciated flowers and other handmade things, and Happy was never happier than on his birthday, when he practically could get buried in the number of fishes he’d be given.
Natsu, however? Lucy wasn’t too sure what she could give him. He liked loads of things – food, fights, adventures, funny hats, board games: few things were off the table with that guy. If she gave him a bouquet of flowers he’d probably smile and say thanks (and maybe he’d try to eat them once he got home), if she gave him tea, he’d probably set the leaves on fire and accidentally get high or something – she didn’t want to risk it either way. He’d be thankful for any clothes she would give him, but would most likely only wear them when he really had to, or to sleep if they were comfortable enough. He really liked his special made ones, that managed to stay intact no matter how hot his fire was. He would definitely try to eat the soaps, and that wasn’t worth it in her opinion, and if she gave him a fish he’d very likely think she was either giving Happy a gift through him, or that she was confessing her undying love for him, since that’s what it meant when Happy gave fishes as gifts to the opposite gender (of the same species, might be important to add).
Point is: giving Natsu gifts was hard when you knew him too well. She had even considered giving him jewellery that matched with the ones she had gotten from him recently, but it once again came down to him only wearing them as a chore, and her pride couldn’t really take that. She would have to put a pin in this challenge though, because she was expected at the guild to help cover a shift for Mira as she dealt with one of her requested missions.
As she entered the guild hall, she was relieved to see that it was rather empty. It had its perks, working at a bar in the middle of the day, and since she saw some of her closer mates, she knew she could take her chance to dig around and find out what others would be gifting him.
“Hi Master,” she greeted Makarov, still using the title he had tried to give over so many times already. Though technically he was still in charge, so Lucy thought it only appropriate to keep calling him master until he truly was off the position. “I’m covering for Mira this afternoon.”
“I heard,” he grumbled from his position in the wheelchair. “You’ve been behind the bar before, so you know the drill. In fact, could you bring me a plate of fried squid and a beer? Just put it on my tab.”
Lucy took his order and sent a note into the kitchen per his request. Normally Mira would help out in the kitchen as well, but since Lucy had limited experience with cooking the meals they were serving, she was excused to just manage the drinks and easier snacks, like nuts and chips. As she waited for the staff in the kitchen to finish the order, she poured a glass of beer for Makarov. Half with light alcohol, half with none. He was currently cutting down on his alcohol intake, Porlyusica’s demand, but to not make him fall back immediately from quitting cold turkey, they slowly made him drink lighter and lighter.
“So, Natsu’s birthday is coming up,” Lucy said, trying to cover it up as small talk, but realising it was obvious what she was trying to do.
“I’ve heard.” A smug grin graced Makarov’s face. The relations between the mages in his guild were always amusing, especially in the stage that Lucy’s and Natsu’s had been in the last couple of years.
“I’m a bit curious…” She gave him his order. “What do you think he wants? You’ve known him for longest.”
“Child, I’m too old to remember all my guild members’ gift preferences, and I’m definitely not rich enough to give away gifts like it’s nothing. For a long time now, I’ve allowed myself to forget who likes what.” Lucy smiled, ready to brush the topic off and take another order across the hall, but he continued. “I do, however, know that you could give him a stick or a pebble you found on the sidewalk, and that boy would treasure it like it’s his most sacred, most valuable item in his possession. Do what feels right, Lucy.”
She thanked him, but within she felt like she was back at square one. She knew he would be happy about getting any gift, but she didn’t want to give him just any gift. She wanted it to reflect how much she appreciated him and their friendship, and she wanted it to stick out. Maybe it could even suggest that she appreciated him more than a normal friend, but only if he started overthinking the gift (which she doubted he would do anyways). It was meant to be subtle, but not subtle enough for it to never be discovered by him. And if it needed to be discovered by him, whatever this little message it was she was trying to convey to him, then it would have to be flashing in neon lights above his bed when he woke up in the morning.
So, she spent a few hours continuing to ponder on what to do, as she was taking more and more orders as people kept dropping in. At around 6:30pm her true saviours arrived at the guild hall. Her team, plus a few other closer friends and minus Natsu and Happy, who were camping today and tomorrow, were back from one of their shorter missions, and they were probably starving for some dinner. Lucy was quick to come over and take their order, also grabbing her chance to question them about their thoughts on this conundrum.
“Hi guys, did the mission go well?” She greeted them, preparing her notepad.
“It went great!” Wendy beamed, and Lucy made a quick mental note to ask about the mission more in detail at a later date. She must have done a good job if she allowed herself to be this proud – Lucy always thought she was too harsh on herself when they fought on missions.
“Gray even kept his clothes on,” Erza added, praising the man on her right.
They took a quick moment to chat, and as they finally decided on what to eat, Lucy seized her moment.
“So,” she started, already knowing she would never live down asking a question like this, considering that many of the people at the table were quite transparent on their opinions on Lucy’s and Natsu’s relationship, “Natsu’s birthday, huh?”
The silence her sentence brought made her regret it immediately. She could already see how their brains were working on new ways to tease her for whatever she was going to say next, but she would have to swallow her pride once again. It’s for a good cause, she kept telling herself.
“Have you gotten your presents yet?” She chuckled awkwardly, hoping their answers would be enough to inspire her, so she could get their food and forget she ever brought it up in the first place.
“Mhm.”
“Yep.”
“I have too.”
“And I’m with Wendy on her gift,” Carla added, still making it painfully obvious that nobody was elaborating their answers. They were making Lucy work for it; she just knew it. They loved grabbing their chances to make her say embarrassing things, and today was no exception.
“Really…” She forced out a laugh. “So, what have you gotten him?” She tried again to prompt anyone at the table to speak up, but they knew she would have to continue pressing, and that it would sound more and more desperate the less information they gave her, so after they all stayed silent for another minute, Lucy gave in.
“I’ve just completely blanked out; I can’t even remember a single thing he likes! Please, help me! Give me some inspiration!”
Erza exchanged a glance with Wendy before she answered.
“Well, he likes fire.”
“And fighting.”
“And ugly tourist shirts,” Gray chimed in. Lucy groaned.
“I can’t exactly give him a clip card for sparring matches, and I’ve already considered a bonfire, but I wanted to have a get together later with all of us where we make a bonfire and drink hot chocolate and stuff.” She spared Gray a short glance as well. “And he only wears his special made clothes, so I can’t give him a shirt to frame for 200 jewel.”
“Then we can’t help you,” Erza said, flipping her bangs as she always does when she lies. Lucy pouted.
“I’ll get you your food, please help me afterwards?”
“Deal.”
After 30 minutes she finally had four hot plates balancing on her arms, ready to serve to her stubborn teammates. They were chatting along just fine now, so hopefully the would have forgotten their silent agreement to keep themselves clammed about their gifts. Lucy hurried to place out their food, hoping that they would notice her way of bribing them by giving them extra big portions.
“Now please...! What should I give him?” Lucy sat down at the table. She wasn’t going anywhere until she got an answer she was pleased with.
Wendy gave her an apologetic smile.
“Well… We can tell you what we think, but don’t you think he’d like it better if it truly came from you?” Erza nodded along.
“I’m going to give him a sword that’s enchanted with endless fire,” she revealed. “But you know, it’s not really a gift that screams ‘Lucy’.”
“Erza’s right. I’m giving him some scrap wood I found in the woods because I can’t really bother, but no gift we tell you to get will be as appreciated as the one you come up with,” Gray said, taking a sip from his beer.
“And we’re getting him a small cupon at a restaurant,” Wendy added.
Lucy sighed.
“I know it won’t be the same, but my creative well has completely dried up. Nothing I think of feels like enough. If I get him something I’d appreciate it would be like I don’t know him at all, and that doesn’t feel fair.” She started to feel hopeless. She didn’t like how drained she got from worrying about this – she loved Natsu! And she would love to properly show him how much she loved him, because he truly deserved that. Platonic or not.
“Hey, you look like you’re giving up, that’s not like you! Think of it like this, we’ve all combined our own interests with Natsu’s interest: Erza with the sword, Wendy and Carla with the food, and me with the scrap wood that shows that I have zero interest in him. Why don’t you write something to him? It may not look like it, but I think he know how to read. At least simple words.” Gray gave Lucy a half-hug from his seat in an attempt to comfort her.
“So… you think I should write him a letter? Would that be enough?” She felt sceptical, but it could work.
“You spitting on him would be enough,” Carla snorted, almost offended by her obliviousness.
“Carla!” Wendy burst out, not before Lucy raised an eyebrow in confusion. Her gut told her not to ask, and for once, she decided to actually follow that gut feeling.
“Do you really think a letter would be enough though?” She asked.
“How about you give him an experience? A friendly date of sorts,” Carla suggested.
“An experience?”
“Like going to the movies, or to a restaurant, or maybe picknick or stargazing?” It was Erza who spoke up this time, and Lucy thought she could see a sparkle in her eye. If she didn’t know better, she would almost think that Erza had been on dates like that herself.
“Hm… I guess you’re right. If he doesn’t like it, I’ll just have to ask him directly, I suppose.”
Lucy stood up from her seat at the table and bid farewell to her friends, along with her thanks. A letter would have to do, and she had a gut feeling that told her that she would figure out a good topic to write about. She hurried to end her shift so she could get to her gift-making. A good idea rarely stayed for long in one’s head.
When she finally sat at her desk, pen in her right hand and paper in front of her, she knew this was the right thing to do. What better way was there to tell Natsu how much she appreciated him, if not through words on paper? It was her speciality, after all. She had even lighted some candles to keep her company, since she knew she would sit there for a while. There was a lot of things she wanted to tell him and thank him for, and the letter would be the perfect way to convey these feelings. Right. Feelings. That could include her less platonic ones, and even if this was a great opportunity for that as well, she didn’t know if she was quite ready to go that far yet. In the meantime, she would just have to tell him she loved him in every way except the straightforward one.
Four hours and 16 pages later, she had her letter. It was ridiculously long, she knew that, and he probably wouldn’t be able to read it in one go, but her heart felt light. A letter was the perfect gift. She had even included multiple invites to ‘experiences’ she wanted to give him, and if he took as long to read it as she thought he would, then those experiences would be experienced with about one week in between them. Lucy gave the thick envelope a quick lick to seal it, and after that she couldn’t help but to give it a soft kiss. She had poured her heart out, and though it would be embarrassing for her to know that he would read such things, it also felt very right. It wasn’t a love letter, but in a way, it felt like it was. She had told him all the things she loved about him, all the moments she especially appreciated him being there, and how great her entire life was thanks to him. If read with the intent of reading a love letter, it could very well translate into one, and maybe, someday in the future, he could look back at it and see the hints she left him.
Lucy leaned back in her chair with a big yawn. It was well into midnight hours by now, and she really needed a refreshing shower. A thought went to how Natsu and Happy were having it right now, in a tent somewhere in the woods. Though she was happy to get to sleep in her soft bed, she was missing them. Tomorrow couldn’t come soon enough. To speed time up she hurried to the bathroom so she could get into bed as soon as possible – her apartment wasn’t the same without those two.
Lucy cursed herself. Why, why, why had she written that letter? It was the most obvious love-confession anyone could ever read, how on earth had she not realised that when she read it through yesterday? She was dragging her feet behind her, because if the embarrassment wouldn’t kill her when he read it later, she would have to kill herself, and no one non-suicidal would ever look forward to something like that. So, her feet dragged. The letter felt heavy in her hands, and she knew that as soon as it would be opened, she would feel naked. Her gut was begging her to turn back, but her heart told her that celebrating Natsu today was more important than her pride. Him and Happy were coming back from their camping trip, and they promised her they would stop by the guild to say hi before heading home, and that’s when they would be surprised with a small celebration. Nothing like other events, where people went completely wild, but a celebration big enough to show him some appreciation.
Checking the clock one last time, she made sure that she was there before they arrived. They woke up pretty late generally and their favourite camping spot was about an hour into the woods. 10am. Maybe they hadn’t even woken up yet, but Lucy didn’t want to risk it. She wanted to prepare and decorate the guild, and then she would grab something to eat, considering she hadn’t eaten any breakfast yet.
As she entered the guild, she was relieved to only see her team and a handful more people. They were chatting and blowing up balloons, and they had turned one of the tables into a gift-table. Lucy hurried to put her letter amongst the others, eager to get the gift out of her hands.
“Good morning, Lucy!” Levy greeted her with a hug. “You’re pretty late, did you stay up last night?” Lucy chuckled lightly.
“Yeah, I had something important to finish.” She felt her team’s eyes in her back – they knew she had stayed up writing, and though Lucy knew she hadn’t written a love confession of any sort (other than platonic) she still managed to feel a blush creep onto her cheeks.
“So, do you need help with the balloons?” She offered, greeting the rest of the group.
“It’s fine, you go ahead and grab some breakfast instead,” Mira smiled.
“How did you know I haven’t eaten?” Lucy sat down at a table.
“You have a tendency to forget to eat when you have other things on your plate,” Mira just answered, placing down a yoghurt bowl with homemade granola and fruits. Lucy could only smile sheepishly, slightly embarrassed how obviously nervous she was about this event. She was sure Erza had told her about her moment of weakness yesterday, so she reminded herself to try to keep herself under the radar. She’d just be here, sing a happy birthday song, eat a piece of cake and watch Natsu open his presents, then the day would be over and the whole Lucy-confesses-her-feelings-though-a-letter thing would be over! No unnecessary teasing from her friends, if all went well.
“I’m back!”
The guild door shot open with a noise loud enough to give the untrained ear a heart attack. Lucy however had a trained ear, so she just turned her head and met Natsu’s happy gaze, her heart fluttering at the fact that his eyes immediately searched for her and no one else.
“Happy birthday!” The guild cheered. Lucy stood up from her place at the table, not really knowing why until Natsu stood in front of her, just an arm’s length away. If she reached, she would be able to bring him into a hug, and it truly itched in her arms to do exactly that.
“Hey,” Lucy smiled softly. “Happy birthday.” Watching Natsu’s smile go from surprised and generally happy, to soft and caring made Lucy lose what little control she had, and she caved into her needs to hug him. As soon as she felt him hug her back, she knew that whatever the others thought about the content of her letter contained, as long as Natsu read it and took it to heart, all would be fine.
“Thank you,” he whispered, tightening the hug for a second before he went ahead and thanked the rest of his friends, never straying far from Lucy.
The birthday party was overall a quite big success, everyone had a great time, and Natsu, who not so secretly had been itching to open the presents, finally gave in and announced what he was planning to do.
“Time to open the presents!” He cheered, almost jumping in place in excitement, clearly not representing the age he was turning (400-something years old) but making everyone smile regardless. Everyone except Lucy, whose heart flew up in her throat, suddenly getting the strongest urge to grab her letter before he got to it so she could throw it away or burn it. Not because she didn’t want him to read it – she would just prefer it if he read it somewhere more private, where the burning eyes of her much beloved friends could read it and jump to conclusions. So, she hurried close to whisper her plan to Natsu – despite him being the cause of these nerve-racking feelings, he was still her partner in crime, and she knew he would break his neck to achieve whatever she asked him to do. This time, what she asked him not to do.
“Psst!”
Natsu shot a glance to Lucy, who was whispering just quietly enough that no one else would notice, unless they had dragon ears and paid attention to her. Lucy, who saw that he had heard her, hurried to shoot her shot.
“My gift is the letter, I would kinda like it if you read it after the party instead? It’s just – it’s quite long and it won’t be any fun if you sat down and read it here, you know?”
The ball was in the air, and now she could at least sleep well knowing that no matter the outcome, she did try her best to steer the situation into best case scenario – all to her means of course.
Natsu, the king of pranks and someone who was surprisingly good at sneaking around, despite his usual love for the “let’s just barge in and fight anyone who tries to stop us” approach, still managed to keep up his gleeful demeanour as he had listened to Lucy’s request. He once again met her gaze and gave her a quick nod, ensuring that she had scored. The rest of the evening would manage to stay calm and uneventful. All thanks to their ways to keep down low. It was really convenient to have dragon hearing at times like these – though usually she had that thought on missions, and not happy, meant to be uneventful celebrations and parties.
The birthday boy himself didn’t mind opening Lucy’s gift later. In fact, he was just happy he was getting something at all from her, considering how stressful most birthdays could be for her. Sure, she already knew what genre people liked, but getting down to picking the actual thing and managing prices was a hard task for Lucy to tackle without stress. So instead, he went ahead and opened the elongated, wrapped gift that said “Happy birthday, from Erza” on the card. He would make sure to ease Lucy’s mind today, considering how stressed she clearly had been the last couple of weeks.
Natsu couldn’t stop grinning. He truly had the best friends ever, and despite him not being a big birthday celebrator when it came to himself, it felt good to be appreciated. There had been good songs playing, yummy food to eat, and most importantly: good company. He especially loved the presents he had gotten, since they clearly were gifts that his friends had carefully thought through and taken into consideration before giving them – yes, even Gray’s gift was appreciated, because though it seemed silly, he did sometimes need firewood after hard missions to speed up his recovery. Everything was dear to him, so when he finally got home with that thick letter in his hands, he couldn’t wait a second more to open it. This, you see, might be the dearest gift of all.
The softly written “To: Natsu Dragneel” on the front of the envelope made Natsu’s heart beat harder. He knew that the content in it probably wasn’t anything out of the ordinary stuff the two of them said to each other, but still. He liked that Lucy had put extra thought into whatever she had written. Or, at least he hoped she had, seeing as he didn’t actually know what the letter said yet.
Happy peaked over Natsu’s shoulder, closing the door behind the two.
“So, what are you waiting for? Open it!” Happy urged, eager to see what Lucy wanted to say to him, but clearly couldn’t since she had to write it down. In his opinion a speech would be quicker, knowing how slowly Natsu read.
Carefully Natsu parted the sealed wax from the paper, making sure not to tear anything. If he could make some space, he’d want to hang everything on his memory wall later, and in that case he didn’t want to ruin it.
Still standing just inside the door, Natsu began to read. The letter started out rather normal. She was writing the obligatory happy birthdays and saying hi to Happy, who she knew would read over Natsu’s shoulder despite it being a private message. That part piqued Natsu’s interest a little extra. What did she have to say to him that not only had to be written, but wasn’t meant for Happy to know? It sparked some hope in his heart that she possibly could feel something special about him – special-er than what they already had. He continued down the page. She started reminiscing about the past, and about halfway through the second page, Happy gave up on Natsu’s slow reading and told him he’d simply read it after Natsu was done with it. Natsu took a seat as he joined Lucy’s trip down memory lane, enjoying the new information on how she saw him when they first met, during their first missions and more. He especially liked learning that despite his foul mood the first days together, she still had fond memories of him, like when he included her in his list of friends when they fought Macao (before they knew it was him, since he had turned into a Vulcan) and how the reason she didn’t refuse to get along with him after he had seemingly deceived her for a mission, was because he had managed to get a few lucky words in. Something like “because we thought you seemed nice” had made her stick, and Natsu could only thank his past self for accidentally pressing the right buttons.
As he continued reading, he was struck by the wonderful realisation that he truly mattered to Lucy. It’s not like he didn’t know that she enjoyed his company, but seeing in in black and white was completely different. It wasn’t just that she had written something along the lines of “I care about you, your existence matters to me” (though that would have worked as well), but the fact that she could remember so many small details of what he had said and done, that she may as well have written a complete book with all those moments, and it would probably be at least 200 pages long. He knew she had been cutting down on what memories she brought up in the letter, because enough talks with one person made them show how much brain capacity they had, and Natsu knew that her brain capacity was way longer than a 16-page letter. This was her way of being concise. Yet she still managed to bring up moments he only vaguely remembered, sharing almost exact quotes of what was said and by who. Mostly the who was either Natsu or Lucy, but it was still impressive.
Natsu had never been interested in reading. It was a chore he had to go through to get the money he needed for food, had never been any more interesting than that. Except for two occasions: Lucy’s first published book, and this letter. Sure, he had been reading it for almost double as long as it probably took to write it, but that didn’t mean he wasn’t interested. This letter was so far the greatest thing he had ever received, which wasn’t an easy thing to manage.
At 4am had he gotten to the last line of the letter. His eyes were trying to force him to rest, but his mind fought it like never before. He had skipped dinner for this, and he was not planning to give up last minute, just to succumb to something so superficial, boring and unnecessary as sleep. No, he gathered up some extra will power and pulled though. “Though you probably understand this after reading this letter, I am simply eternally grateful for everything you are, and what you’ve just read is the best I could do at describing my gratefulness in words. Thank you for all you’ve done, and for being unapologetically you. No one else could make me as happy as you have, so once again: Happy birthday, Natsu Dragneel.” She had signed it with her signature at the very bottom, ensuring that all he had just read was completely and wholly from Lucy. After reading the whole thing, he felt his legs itch. No, maybe it was his arms. Feet, hands? No, it was most definitely his soul that had started to climb inside his body. He wanted to go to her, and he wanted to see her. Preferably five minutes ago. He threw another glance at the clock. 4:50am. He had been tossing around, unable to even do as much as close his eyes, for the last 40 minutes, and he knew he wouldn’t feel better until he was within a 20-meter radius of Lucy. Or rather, 2-meter radius.
Not bothering to sneak around the heavy sleeper that the exceed was, Natsu jumped out of the bed and pulled on his slippers. In less than 3 seconds he was out the door, and in another 3 he noticed that he was running. He wasn’t quite sure what he would do when he saw her, especially considering that she most likely was asleep in this hour, but he simply had to get to her, quickly. The time was ticking, like he was a bomb soon to explode, like he was going to run out of time if he didn’t arrive soon. Wind blowing in his ears, he could barely make out the sound of his heavy breathing. He hadn’t run this fast in Mavis knows how long, and he might actually had made it outside her apartment in record time. His chest rising and lowering in big breaths, he managed to make something of a sigh in relief to see her window slightly opened. Climbing the wall quietly was no challenge with Natsu’s experience, so he swiftly pulled himself up, making sure to fully open and enter the window as quickly as possible – though this time with less success since he didn’t have as much experience with that part. Usually he just barged in after scaling the wall, seeing as the time he did it at was most often a time where Lucy either was away or awake.
Either way, he didn’t manage to sneak in as stealthily as he’d like. The window creaked and his body almost fell limp after getting a whiff of Lucy’s calming scent – that he had been running like a maniac to get there didn’t help either, and after a loud, nongraceful landing, Lucy was already awake.
“Natsu? ‘s that you?” She mumbled, sitting up and rubbing the sleep out of her eyes.
“Yeah, sorry for waking you,” he whispered, finding his balance on his legs again as he stood up.
“No worries.” Lucy had now swung her legs over the edge of her bed and sat in a more upright position. “Did you need anything? Is Happy alright?”
“Yeah, he’s at home sleeping. I just felt like coming here,” Natsu said, full transparency.
“Alright,” Lucy said, now taking a better look at his face. He looked red and flustered, but with his heavy breathing it might just be the fact that he ran to her place.
“I read it.”
Lucy’s face started getting hot as well.
“The letter?”
“The entire thing.”
“Wow. Uh, so what do you think of it?” Had the hour been normal she might not have asked him such a bold question, but something about the way the streetlights and moon illuminating the room made her feel brave. Perhaps she still thought she was dreaming, but this felt much too real to be just a dream.
“It’s perfect.” Natsu took a few steps closer. He could now make out most of her facial features, sleepy yet alert of his presence.
“I’m glad.”
A few more seconds went by, though it felt like minutes.
“Is it true?”
“Is what true?”
“All of it. All the things you wrote?”
A soft smile graced Lucy’s lips.
“Of course. I would never lie about those things.”
Natsu knew he could be dense in most situations. He couldn’t always read the room, and he wasn’t good at subtext. This time however, he had felt something the whole time as he read that letter. Maybe it was what other would call “reading between the lines” but he suddenly had great confidence in something that could change their relationship forever. Of course, it was a very long shot, but perhaps the adrenaline from all that running was just what he needed to gather the courage to take it. He did, however, decide to test out the water first. Running headfirst was usually his go-to method if he could choose, but he wasn’t blind to the delicacy of the situation he was putting himself in.
“Can I assume things?” He tried.
“Assume things? From what I wrote?” Lucy asked, curious where he was leading this conversation. She was very aware of her heartbeat, but she didn’t know that she didn’t have to be this time, considering that all that Natsu was hearing was his own.
“Yeah.”
“It depends. What do you want to assume?”
Natsu swallowed. Did he always have this much saliva? If so, maybe something was wrong with him. He swallowed again, clenching and unclenching his fists. Had he ever been this nervous in a situation as calm as this? No bandits, no monsters, no big wild animals – not even an annoyed Erza was around.
“That…” he started, his tongue thickening as he spoke. Not literally, but it sure felt like it. He could barely concentrate on what he wanted to say, gazing into those doe eyes. She was so, ridiculously pretty. He knew that before, of course, but he almost found it unfair. How could he think of any words when she sat there, looking all nice and pretty. “That you like me?”
He had said it as a question, though it sounded more like a statement right now. Lucy’s heart must have skipped a beat or two. She was still sleepy, but the tiny possibility that this wasn’t just a perfect dream made her stop herself from straight up answering yes.
“Well… I hoped my letter was clear on that. You’re my best friend in the whole world, how could I not like you?” She let out a small chuckle at the very idea of disliking a friend. She didn’t, however, predict what he would say next.
Natsu reached out his left hand, touching a piece of her hair that had fallen out from behind her ears.
“But can I assume…” He put it behind her ear, “that you like me more than a friend?”
Natsu’s eyes were darker than usual in the dimmed light, but Lucy saw clearly that he was being serious. Though, this exact facial expression was one she had never seen before. She had seen his tender look, his soft look, his happy look, his loving look, but she had never seen this combination of all. And it was her he was showing it to. In fact, maybe it was exactly this expression that made her admit the truth for once. For so long she had been scared that he would feel bothered or surprised by the very idea of “liking beyond friendship”, or love, as she would prefer to call it. She had been afraid that he would find her fantasies of the two of them living their life together as a couple weird, or even mildly repulsive. That her confession would lead to their friendship breaking apart forever. That, however, could no longer be the case. Lucy wasn’t blind, and she certainly wasn’t dumb. If Natsu looked this… happy? To even assume that she likes him beyond friendship, then the outcome from telling him the truth couldn’t possibly be bad. She tilted her head lightly towards his hand, sharing another smile.
“Yeah. I do like you more than a friend, or a best friend.” Natsu took another step closer, now close enough to make her feel his hot breath on her face that he had tilted upwards, towards him.
“Then…” He bended down slowly to come closer to her sitting position. “Can I kiss you?” His words didn’t come out louder than a breath, but Lucy knew what she heard. Her heart had never danced as wildly as it did when she nodded and closed her eyes as Natsu closed the space between them.
The kiss itself was probably nothing special to someone watching. It was plain and soft, just two mouths pressing against each other. For them, however, it was nothing short of magical fireworks. Lucy’s cool, soft lips against Natsu’s hot, slightly rougher ones sent shivers throughout both of them, as if the small touch had opened a completely new door, a way for them to connect and become closer than ever.
Inexperienced as they both were though, they soon had to break it off to breathe. After less than 20 seconds, Lucy pulled their faces together again. How could they have been missing out on this awesome experience for all the years they had known each other? Natsu knew that this already had topped the list of his favourite activities – even placing higher than eating and fighting. The next time they went up for air, they couldn’t stop themselves from giggling.
“Can this count as a birthday gift if I haven’t slept since yesterday?” Natsu asked, more energetic than reasonable after his long day.
“If that makes you happy,” Lucy smiled, giving him another peck on his lips. Whatever they decided to do from this point on, Lucy knew they would figure it out. After all, if they had managed to overcome the obstacle of going from friends to whatever this was, then they could definitely manage anything and everything else thrown at them. What’s important was that they from this point out, took on every challenge together.

Rejected Juvia x caring male s/o
Tumblr media
It’s no secret among the members of Fairy Tail that Juvia has a massive crush on Gray.
Unfortunately for the blue haired girl, he doesn’t return her affections, much to her ignorance.
“Hey Juvia, what’s with the flowers?”
Her good friend s/o asks, pointing at the bouquet of different colored flowers she’s holding.
“I bought these for Gray-sama! I hope he likes them!”
“Yeah…I hope he does too.”
Not picking up on the sadness in her friend’s voice, Juvia bids him farewell and walks off happily as s/o sighs.
“Poor Juvia. It’s pretty obvious that Gray has no interest in her. I can’t imagine why though. Anyone would be lucky to have someone as amazing as Juvia be interested in them.”
S/o has feelings for Juvia, but knows they are unrequited due to her obsession over Gray.
“He honestly doesn’t deserve her love. Gray always treats Juvia like some kind of nuisance, not that she ever seems to mind or notice. I just hope she picks up on how he feels about her sooner rather than later.”
Meanwhile, Juvia spots Gray and rushes over to him with a big smile on her face.
“Gray-sama!”
She tries to hug him, only for him to back away and sigh.
“What is it now Juvia?”
He asks her with his face scrunched in annoyance.
“Juvia brought you these flowers! Do you like them?”
When he doesn’t respond, she looks at him in concern.
“Is something wrong Gray-sama?”
“Would you stop calling me that!”
He shouts at her and throws the flowers she gave him onto the floor.
“G-Gray-sama?”
A look of shock and hurt appears on her face.
“How many times do I have to get this through to you Juvia? I don’t like you! I’ve tried my best to be nice up until now, but this is really starting to get on my nerves!”
“W-what are you saying?”
Tears begin forming in Juvia’s eyes as Gray gets even more irritated.
“Do I have to spell it out for you?! I. Don’t. Love. You. Seriously Juvia, you are the most annoying woman I’ve ever met! Now please just go away and leave me alone!”
With that, Juvia runs away from him with tears pouring down her face, her heart completely shattered into a billion tiny pieces.
After not seeing her since earlier in the day, s/o goes looking for Juvia, whom he finds at his place crying her eyes out.
“Juvia?! What’s wrong?!”
Between her sobs, Juvia manages to tell s/o what happened with Gray.
Needless to say, s/o was absolutely pissed.
He wanted nothing more than to beat Gray to a pulp, but calmed down because right now, Juvia needs comforting.
“Listen to me. Gray doesn’t deserve you Juvia. You are not annoying. Any guy would be the luckiest man to ever live if he had you. You’re beautiful, loving, and overall an incredible woman Juvia. If Gray doesn’t see that, then he’s an idiot.”
After saying this, s/o pulls Juvia into a tight hug and gently rubs her back in a comforting motion.
Feeling incredibly touched by his words, Juvia gets a warm feeling in her heart that not even Gray could give her.
“Love…”
A single word Juvia says quietly to herself, but s/o manages to catch somewhat.
“Huh? Did you say something Juvia?”
She pulls away from s/o and looks at him with a pint dusting on her cheeks.
“Juvia made a mistake. All this time I’ve been trying to win Gray-sa…no…Gray’s…affections, when the guy who Juvia should be with has been you all along. I love you s/o-sama, that’s what my heart is telling me now.
S/o couldn’t believe what he’s hearing.
The girl who he’s been in love with for so long just said she loves him.
“Juvia, you have no idea how happy I am to hear you say that. I’ve loved you for a long time, but since you’ve always been infatuated with Gray, I thought I had no chance to be with you. I love you too Juvia, and I promise that if you want to be with me, I’ll be the best boyfriend you’ll ever have.”
Juvia squeals in delight and pulls s/o into a hug, accidentally pushing his head into her breasts.
“Juvia is so happy! We’ll be together forever!”
“F-forever might not be very long if you keep suffocating me Juvia.”
“Oops! Sorry s/o-sama, please forgive Juvia!”
She lets him go as he gasps for air.
“It’s all good….do you mind if I step out for a moment?”
“Where are you going s/o-sama?”
“Just have something I need to do real quick. When I come back, you and I can spend all evening together, and the night too if you want.”
“Juvia is looking forward to it. Don’t be gone too long s/o-sama!”
“Heh. I won’t. This should only take a second.”
S/o leaves and goes looking for Gray, who he finds talking with Lucy!”
“Gray!”
He shouts, getting his attention.
“S/o? What’s up ma-“
Lucy gasps in shock as s/o punches Gray right in the stomach, bringing him to his knees.
“Why would you do that s/o?!”
Lucy exclaims as Gray clenches his stomach.
“That was for the awful things you said to Juvia. Her and I are dating now. I hope you realize that you’ve lost out on the best girl you’ll ever know.
S/o walks away without another word and goes back to his place, where Juvia is eagerly waiting for him.
“You’re back! Did you do what you needed to s/o-sama?”
“Yep. Now I’m all yours. I love you Juvia.”
“I love you too s/o-sama, and I’m sorry it took me so long to realize that.”
“It’s alright. That doesn’t matter anymore. You and I are together now Juvia, and that’s what counts.”
The two share a passionate kiss, Juvia happy to be with someone who truly loves her, and all the feelings she previously held for Gray being replaced by an even stronger love for her darling s/o-sama.

Gray’s Fantasy of a Happy Family (Fairy Tail 100 Years Quest Spoiler - Chapter 84)
I saw a Twitter post about this scene in An Icy Fantasy and everyone was wondering why Mika wasn’t there. My guess is that this allusion was based on Gray’s memories. He doesn’t remember his real mom which is why she isn’t there, he’s had interactions with everyone in the room at a time where he was old enough to remember.
Aside from the Mika question: THIS SHIT TOOK MY HEART AND SHATTERED IT! Even if he does get to have Juvia and Greige, he’ll never be able to have all the people he holds close to him during his special moments in life. I’m broken, a scene that looked so happy ripped me to shreds. Why must they always pull on my heart strings. I never cry reading things so why now?!? He deserved this so much and the fact that he can never have it is what makes it worse. I LOVE YOU GRAY IDC!!!!🥹💔
Chapter 84 edit I like to watch when I want to cry!

We're continuing our rewatch so more notes:
The existence of a village full of just normal, nonevil demons when all the demons we meet later are evil really feels weird and out of place. Like maybe just say the people on the island got corrupted by Zeref's magic centuries ago and changed over time but stayed civil or something at least
Files gray having no embarrassment or interest in the demon woman who liked him but just saying something to appease them under my aroace gray folder
If mashima had actually considered the magic of team shadowgear when having them hospitalized; droy would have broken arms, Jet with broken legs, and Levy with eye injuries. Setting up shadowgear as a noncombat team would've also made phantomlord cowards for attacking them knowing they were easier targets.
The lack of proper characterization for shadowgear/scenes of them really does soften the blow of them being attacked. I love them because I've seen the show and love levy, but more proper build up of them would've made the scene hit so hard.
I do actually like the scene of fairy tail attacking phantomlord where we get to see other side wizards show off. Wish we had more scenes of side characters showing off their abilities
Juvia's rain ability should've come back later. Have her be unable to control it at first but learn it over time. (Side note I adore her entrance. Baby girl deserved so much better from Mashima than what he gives her after this arc 😔)
I love the gags with erza but every plot point with her just makes me more and more sure that her absence would've been far more effective than her inclusion. Having her as an S class wizard just makes me go "she should be able to take enemies down no problem"
I do think Makarov is one of the few examples of Mashima effectively showcasing a character's power whenever they're involved in fights. This might change as the rewatch goes on but so far I'm pretty happy with it.
I really, really wish mashima had more flashback scenes for characters. I would've adored seeing Jude and Lucy go from loving to distant in the wake of Layla's death due to their differing ways of grieving. And in general better fleshing out of Jude beyond just "evil dad to poor and trying to fix things.
Bisca and alzack got screen time taking out some ghouls and it was delightful
Rewatching this arc I can say as someone with Gajeel as my favorite character: he should've had a much longer time of people being angry at him/him earning trust from everyone. We needed far more moments between him and Team shadowgear/Lucy before we got a redemption. (Every action this man takes reinforces my Let levy hate him and be petty for a while agenda)
This arc really Kickstarts makarov getting into fatal situations and just being fine. I wish mashima would've made it a joke among guild members that he won't ever die because then I could at least find these instances funny.
Likely we'll be getting to tower of heaven by Sunday so I'll be interested to see how that goes.

Fairy Tail 100 Years Quest episode 9: thoughts + opinions
Aldoron's a big boy!
Tumblr media
I SERIOUSLY WANT TO BITCH SLAP THE HELL OUT OF FARIS! MIRA DID NOT DESERVE THAT TREATMENT, AND ESPECIALLY NOT FROM HER OWN BROTHER AND SISTER (look, I know they're all brainwashed, but it still felt really OOC for both Elfman and Lisanna)
sooo, I guess Faris is the one in charge now? anyways, I hope we get to see Touka's Exceed form really soon!
idk, I really want to believe Jellal is also under the White Mage's spell, but what will happen between him and Erza next really makes me doubt that lmao (yes, I've read all the chapters of FT100YQ manga, so I know what happens next + I've already watched the tenth episode simply because of Jerza)
poor Juvia :(💙
WENDY TO THE RESCUE! 🌪️🩵
Tumblr media
''We've got a moment to make a strategy. She can't get through.'' // oops, famous last words from Gray
Tumblr media
so, Touka and Faris are two split personas stuck in one person's body? welp...
Touka has a crush on Natsu, and I love how Lucy's teasing him over it lmao (Luce, we know that deep down you're jealous of her, it's okay...)
L: ''Someone's got a secret admirer!'' N: ''I have no idea who she is.''
Tumblr media
Battle of Fairy 2.0 loading!
N: ''It's the Battle of Fairy Tail in Drasil this time! I'm getting all fired up!'' L: ''Slow your roll Natsu...''
Tumblr media
I'M PROBABLY MOST EXCITED ABOUT JELLAL VS. ERZA FIGHT, BECAUSE IF YOU'VE READ THE FT100YQ CHAPTERS 32 & 33, THEN YOU KNOW EXACTLY WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT! 🫶🏻
Gruvia my beloved + it's such a shame that Juvia can't fight alongside her beloved, because I'm sure we would've probably gotten a Unison Raid from them or something...
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
G: ''Just stay by my side, okay?'' J: ''Oh Gray, your words are making my heart sing! Can you say that once more, I'm begging you?''
NOT BICKSLOW WITH HIS ''GEEZ, YOU GUYS ARE ALWAYS FLIRTING WITH EACH OTHER. YOU'RE GONNA' MAKE ME JEALOUS!'' LMAO
of course Lucy has to go up against Mira, Elfman and her love rival // YAY LOKE AND VIRGO APPEARED! ❤️
Lucy's Leo Star Dress is definitely the prettiest one
Tumblr media
it's always fun seeing two Dragon Slayers duking it out, especially if they are as rambunctious as both Natsu and Gajeel
Tumblr media
I LOVE HOW ALL IT TOOK FOR HAPPY TO KNOCK LILY OUT WAS TAKING ADVANTAGE OF HIM BEING SCARED SHITLESS OF LIGHTNING HAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Tumblr media
AHHHHHHHHHH, LUCY'S TRANSFORMATION WAS SO MESMERIZING! IT REMINDED ME OF WINX CLUB'S ENCHANTIX, WHICH MAKES EVERYTHING MUCH MORE SPECIAL TO ME BECAUSE WINX CLUB WAS MY FAVORITE CARTOON GROWING UP AND ENCHANTIX WAS BY FAR MY FAVORITE TRANSFORMATION, SO NOSTALGIA HITS REAL HARD ON THIS ONE! 😭✨

JUVIA DAY 2023: Hare Hare
Gray Fullbuster, Juvia Lockser June 3, 2023 Posted: June 30, 2023
Writer’s Corner: Before June ends, I'd like to share this something I came up with for Juvia Day. A little bit late but I heard we are experiencing some Gruvia drought, so here's me trying... Enjoy!
P.S. thank you for the correction regarding Keyes/Keith, @groovyah!!!
HAPPY JUVIA DAY!
All rights reserve to Hiro Mashima, original creator.
Masterlist
---
How long has it been since Gray had been dragging his feet along the rough road? He stopped caring two towns ago. All that thinking only made the road grow wider. So, he decided it was better to keep his mouth shut behind the redhead leading their journey. All Gray wanted was just a little bit of information about the next dragon god they are trying to seal away. Was that too much to ask? He’d really like to put some timeline into this journey because, if he was being honest, Gray was not getting any younger and there were some things he wanted to do after this quest. But if he was really, really, being honest, he kinda, sorta looking forward to seeing a certain someone.
“Oh, this looks familiar.” It was Lucy who first noticed.
How she kept that cheery spirit in her voice was beyond Gray.
But, true enough, Gray was greeted by a familiar intersection, marked by shabby and wooden signage. He’d seen it far too many times not to recognize the arrow pointing to home – Magnolia.
Magnolia. Fairytail. Home.
That’s how that thought always flowed. Fairytail has always been home. Lately, however, his thoughts ended on something else.
Fairytail. Home. Juvia.
He wasn’t sure when it started. When she became the end of that train of thought. All he knew was when he thought of home, the picture of her blue waves, sparkling eyes, welcoming smile, and soft voice that called out to him lovingly, started to stake a claim on his consciousness.
Gray-sama, welcome home.
“It’s been a while since the last time.”
The Requip mage suggested they regroup at the guild and return to their journey after gathering some intel. Besides, they all needed to recuperate and deserved to have fun after the draining fight at the Labyrinth.
“Alright!” Exclaimed the fire-dragon slayer. “Let’s meet everyone!”
The anticipation brought some energy back to the travel party. So much so that they all agreed on how they looked forward to seeing their guild members. In Gray’s case, there was one particular member whose picture slowly and clearly appeared in his mind.
Gray-sama!
He probably didn’t notice it himself but the thought of seeing Juvia had its wicked way to arc the line of Gray’s lips.
...
The guild was rowdy as ever but the chaos brought in by Team Natsu, with two other dragon-slayers in tow, was most welcomed. They greeted each other with the excitement of an unexpected reunion. Yet amidst that chaos, Gray was able to cut through the cacophony of crazy and made his way to where his thoughts had lain lately – Juvia Lockser. Before he could take a step further, the water-mage was already walking toward him.
“Oh! My! Gray! Samaaaaaa!” Her every step was accentuated by her sweet greeting.
Juvia tackled him to the ground with the sheer force of her embrace. Then she said something, something about thinking so much of Gray that she had physically turned into him.
“That makes no sense!” He barked without thinking.
They were always like this. She’d say something ridiculous and he’d react like Juvia’s thinking was outside the realm of logic. He was so used to the crazy that his responses had become automated. But it’s not that she always said something impossible. His consciousness would like to correct him, however, when he suddenly remembered the fight he had with Sai.
Love Bond
His tone quickly dropped as the memory hit him like an arrow.
I transmuted your “bond”…
“No… it was that…” Gray avoided Juvia’s expectant gaze, scratching the back of his head thinking it might somehow redirect her attention away from his face.
“Could it be that you took on Juvia’s form as well?”
with the woman you’re in love with.
He didn’t want Juvia to see him fight this sudden rush of heat. So, he played it cool, like always.
“Well, it’s just…”
While he was thinking of a way to properly formulate his answer, so that she wouldn’t twist it into something out of this world, the alchemist’s words kept repeating in his head, louder by the minute.
the woman you’re in love with
Cornered, Gray mustered enough courage to take a peep at the water-mage, who was beaming at him with the smile that seemed forever imprinted on Gray’s mind. She looked like she wasn’t really waiting for an answer, content in just making conversation. That gave Gray some space to breathe. He wasn’t really sure how to explain to Juvia what the love bond alchemy was without confessing–confusing! without confusing her. But come to think of it, Juvia’s theory about why she turned into Gray that day wasn’t too far from possible.
As if sensing his intention, Juvia quickly dropped the subject. He led Gray towards the table where Natsu was already starting some commotion. The ice-mage didn’t need an invitation to join that circus. He effortlessly merged into the chaos – an old habit. Juvia was more than happy to stay out of the riotous entanglement. Glad on simply hollering for him at the sidelines – her old and still most favorite hobby. It shouldn’t come as a surprise how easily they both fell into the usual.
Gray ought to laugh at himself though. He should have realized it by now; Juvia was so attuned to his feelings that he didn’t even have to say it. Juvia just knew. She already knew.
The snow fairy toys with the women sleeping in the depths of your heart.
Gray-sama…
...
The reunion at the guild wrapped up in a tangled mess of passed-out drunks and beaten-up sobers. Good thing Gray still had full control of his faculties, and so did Juvia. He had the mindfulness of being sober enough to walk Juvia home; finally getting some alone time with her.
The walk to Fairy Hills was, in fact, far but seemed too short to recount all of Gray’s stories of his travels. He wasn’t the talkative type. Actually, he’d much rather let his fists talk than his mouth. But they’ve spent so much time apart that there were a lot of funny and incredible moments worth sharing. As Gray retold his stories, Juvia filled all the spaces with small reactions, going through the entire spectrum of emotions. When he ran out of things to say, he’d notice the few changes his absence did to Juvia – like how her hair grew a bit longer. Her bangs started to level to her eyes and framed her face a bit differently than he remembered. There was something about her, something he couldn’t pinpoint exactly. In the way she walked or spoke, it felt as if she matured in his absence. Has she grown taller? Her clothes, he noticed, were becoming tight around some areas of her body – he scolded himself at the last one because it brought back the memory of Juvina-sama stripping naked in front of him.
“You don’t look all right, Gray-sama. Is something wrong?”
Gray had to push that memory to the farthest back of his mind. He knew, even if Juvina was a spitting image of Juvia, the water-mage would never forgive her for flashing Gray. She would hunt the poor celebrity down.
Imagining what Juvia would do to her, Gray actually felt bad for Juvina-sama.
“N-nothing.”
When they reached the front of the female dormitory, Gray felt a tug of disappointment. An anxious nag that he was leaving something important. It wasn’t too big a feeling but enough to recognize what it was. And with it came another, one that told him he couldn’t wait to see her again or made him wonder when the next time would be. Team Natsu was planning to travel to Gazania and visit Sabertooth’s comprehensive library for some information. It would take Erza one more day to gather all the essentials for the long trip. After that, he wasn’t too sure when would be able to see Juvia again. The thought pushed Gray to resolve his feelings and decide to see her again if her schedule would allow it.
“Juvia, are you free tomorrow?”
“Juvia will make herself free!”
Gray panicked at Juvia’s sudden change of demeanor. And here he was, feeling regretful that she had actually matured in his absence, that maybe she’d changed into someone he wouldn’t recognize. And while it wasn’t all too new and surprising, Gray still wasn’t okay with the fact that Juvia would abandon everything for his sake.
He didn’t deserve it.
“No, I only meant…” it wasn’t like he didn’t like it, “if you’re… coincidentally if you don’t have anything to do, y’know.” It just felt like he was asking too much from her if she had to rearrange her day to accommodate him.
“Juvia can get out of anything to spend time with Gray-sama.” Seeing how her enthusiasm put Gray in an awkward position, Juvia clarified, “Since, Gray-sama will be gone for a long time again.”
“That’s…” Guilt clawed at Gray and he would have let it gnaw at him if it wasn’t for Juvia’s gentle smile and understanding gaze. So, he expelled a sigh of complete resignation. He was allowed to be selfish sometimes, wasn’t he?
“Alright, then. Let’s go out tomorrow.”
“D-d-date?!”
Gray could easily predict what would happen – and that’s carrying Juvia into the dormitory, bridal style, and explaining to the agitated swordswoman why exactly was Juvia mumbling ‘gray-sama, juvia, first date’ in a trance.
...
Gray wasn’t particularly nervous about today. He had everything in order. He wasn't a planner. Gray was the kind that lived life day by day. Went with the flow. Sailed with the tides. Nevertheless, he had a general idea of how this day would go down. He already had the checklist in his head, mentally ticking off the boxes per accomplishment.
Ask Juvia on a dat-HANG OUT. Ask Juvia to hang out while he was still in town – mentally crossed off the list. Although he initially planned on picking her up at Fairy Hills, his indiscretion the night before led him to be banned from hanging around the all-girls dormitory. While his unconscious stripping was nothing new to the Fairy Tail girls, Erza still felt the need to discipline his public exhibition. Hence, the 2-year ban. So, the two agreed to meet each other at the guild.
Gray caught himself stripping midway to the guild. He quickly ran back to find his abandoned coat and slipped back into it.
“That was close!” He exclaimed. He, at least, wanted to meet Juvia on their date HANG OUT decent.
He couldn’t help it though; the sun was unusually bright today. He shielded his eyes and quickly regretted daring to stare directly up at the sun. But he was glad. The weather was fine. More than fine actually, suitable for today’s destination – the amusement park. News about a newly opened amusement park reached beyond the borders of Magnolia. He heard about the opening while traveling back and he was curious to see it since then. He could already imagine trying all the fun rides the park boasted, adding a small bounce on his steps.
He turned the corner and jumped back. He wasn’t expecting Juvia to be so early. He, at least, wanted to be the one waiting for her but the water mage was already standing under the shade of Bake Bake Shop's awning. What really surprised Gray, making his breath hitch in his throat, was that Juvia looked different. She wasn't wearing her usual clothes. Instead, Juvia opted for a flowy skirt shorter than the one she commonly used. She paired it up with a strapless top and some high boots and completed her look with a brown puffy bonnet atop her head. Juvia had never looked this casual and c-c-cute…
He wondered how long she had been standing there. And, how long has she been fending off those losers walking up to her and trying to strike up a conversation?
His astonished eyes quickly gloomed.
But Gray had nothing to worry about. He, himself, said it, Juvia was one of the strongest mages of Fairy Tail. She defeated Keith/Keyes, one of the Demon Gates. And there was no question Juvia could have ended Invel too, a Spriggan 12. The water mage was a force to be reckoned with. He didn’t need to worry for her safety, though he was allowed to, and let himself do so every now and then. He didn’t need to worry about other men hanging around the watermage; for Juvia only had eyes for her Gray-sama.
“Sorry. Juvia is waiting for her Gray-sama.”
Gray had only seen that void in Juvia’s eyes on a few occasions. When she was still a member of Phantom Lord. When she was still the rain woman, her eyes were filled with a pointed gloom of disinterest – in life and in other people’s business. It vanished when she became part of Fairytail and when he came into her life. Sometimes, he’d entertain the illusion that he was the one who brought those sparks into her lovely blue eyes. She claimed that he did but that was too grand an illusion. So, for now, he’d settle for being the center of those ocean eyes.
“Gray-sama!”
There! There it was the brightest glimmer in her round orbs. As sparkly as the ocean being kissed by the sun. They shone because and for Gray – only for him.
Gray met her half way, approaching Juvia who scampered towards him. He waited for the tackle, like she always did when they saw each other, and if he was being honest, he wouldn’t mind it. Only to show those losers why they shouldn’t be approaching the water mage. But she settled on just beaming at him in her cute ensemble; the short skirt swaying along as she moved.
“Where is Gray-sama taking Juvia?”
He answered her smile with his cool, pompous grin. Well, he wasn’t being cocky at Juvia. Gray just wanted to show those bastards.
“You’ll see.”
Oh, if only the bastards could see Gray now, his cool, cocky grin trembling at the sight of the sign plastered at the gate – CLOSED FOR RENOVATION.
"I-I… I should have ch-ch-checked yesterday." He lamented.
AMUSEMENT PARK DATE HANG OUT - X
Juvia, who was hiding an amused smile behind one hand, was not at all disappointed. She was just happy to be spending time with Gray, just the two of them. Juvia couldn’t ask for more.
"It's alright, Gray-sama." Juvia placed a consoling hand on Gray's shoulder. "Juvia doesn't mind just walking around."
Gray turned a heel, letting Juvia push him back to the road where they came from, as he kept mumbling a dejected 'no'. Now, he was the one in a daze. Because, what a major bullcrap that was; he was really looking forward to trying the rides all day.
Juvia started a conversation to keep him from sulking. He noticed, however, that she kept fidgeting beside him. She was playing with her fingers, unsure where to keep her hand between them. Gray didn't notice himself already staring at it, at Juvia's hand. Then, he started to become conscious of his own kept inside his pants pocket. There was something off about just keeping his hands in there, which he found strange because he never noticed anything wrong about it before. So, to redress this unsettling feeling, Gray pulled one hand out of his pocket and, as he was about to reach out and seek Juvia's, something swooped in between and knocked them apart.
Of course, he had to check first if Juvia was okay before he screamed at the bastard who slipped in between them.
"Hey, watch it!"
"Sorry, mister!"
It was a kid who looked no older than Greige from Edolas.
Greige.
A mental picture of his and Juvia’s child, his cute little face and aloof eyes, tugged a string in his heart.
"Storm-chan, please wait for onii-chan!"
A young man apologized to the two mages, bowing his head so desperately that Gray thought he was going to break his back. Then, grabbed the kid and went along. He seemed troubled by his little brother but now that he carried the child in his arms, onii-chan seemed unbothered by it. They laughed together as they went their way. That’s when Gray noticed the colorful donut floater the young man had circled around his arm.
The brothers were headed to the beach.
That seems like a good idea, Gray thought.
Hit with excitement knowing today may not be a waste after all, Gray grabbed Juvia’s hand, leading her in the race to the nearest beach in town. Juvia was more than happy to be dragged along by him. How could she not when Gray never let go of her hand the entire train ride? Even when he seemed to have finally noticed it because he turned his face away and spewed something about holding hands being a normal thing.
Finally, something right was happening.
or so they thought.
Now, Gray's mood wasn't the only thing dampened by the depressing turn of events, forcing the two to find shelter from the sudden downpour. They were both soaking wet.
Way to rain on Gray's parade, quite literally.
Gray scowled at the curtain of water holding them hostage under some makeshift shed. He pushed out his hand, his palm testing the stream spilling over the roof. By doing so, he’d be able to tell if the rain was about to stop and if they could still salvage whatever remained of their day. With the strength of the rainfall, it wasn’t anytime soon. He hissed.
"This isn't Juvia's doing."
Gray, surprised at the confession, turned to Juvia with a confused look. Of course, this gloomy weather wasn't because of Juvia. His face contorted into utter confusion. How could she even assume that idea ever crossed Gray's mind?
The old Gray, the one who didn't fully understand her, would have scolded her for even entertaining those thoughts. But that version of himself was long gone now. This new Gray understood Juvia at her very core.
"I know." Was all he said, offering the sulking water mage a soft smile, one that said he would never think that. Not in a hundred years.
Because Gray-sama was the one who stopped Juvia's rain.
"Know what, to hell with this." He grabbed Juvia by the hand and pulled her out into the pouring rain. "Who says we can't have fun, eh?"
Soaking wet, the two crazy teenagers, as the onlookers anointed them, sprinted to the beach, unafraid of the strong waves hitting the shore; the sheer force of it dragged Gray and Juvia as it pulled back. They played so carelessly, splashing each other or pushing one another into the water. Then they'd share childish giggles at how silly they might have seemed. They walked on the coastal lane too, feeling the wet sand on the flat of their feet, lumps sticking between the toes.
Gray would remember something stupid Natsu said or did, or an embarrassing episode happening to Lucy. He remembered that one time when he took the last stick of grilled squid, which was meant for Erza, and thought he was going to finally meet his end. Fear crossed Juvia’s face who was absorbed with the story. Knowing the Requip Mage, Gray’s apprehensions weren’t unfounded.
Juvia would recount a few of her own stories too; telling him she went on a job with Lisanna where they had to wear funny costumes. She was a tree and Lisanna was a mountain. Gray almost broke his back laughing.
When Gray's stomach started to protest, he had the bright idea of dining al fresco. Well, they really had no other choice. No restaurant owner in their right mind would let a drenched couple dine inside. So, they settled on a small coffee table and took a shed under its large umbrella. Gray had no problem ordering shaved ice despite that weather. As much as Juvia wanted to share with him, she wouldn't survive a combination of wet clothes, rainy weather, and cold dessert. A cup of hot cocoa was the far better choice.
Juvia took a sip, the hot sweet liquid sliding from her throat and down to her stomach, warming up her insides. The water mage let out a satisfied sigh as she watched Gray, who was sitting opposite her, gulp down ice. They sat in silence, calmed by the sound of rain pelting on top of the striped parasol. While she immensely did enjoy chatty Gray, Juvia equally loved moments like this when they could just be comfortable around each other's presence. It gave her time to take notice of a few changes in Gray. He seemed to have lost some weight. She asked if he was eating all right. He said he was but all the walking and fighting burned a few pounds off of him. Juvia promised to make him a bento when she sees him off tomorrow. She said it so casually as if preparing him lunch was expected of her. Gray smiled at that, just a sober slant of the lips, and told her he’d hold her to that promise. But quickly reminded her not to give it when Natsu’s around.
“I don’t want Flamebrain to steal it or somethin’.”
They fell in total but welcomed silence again, so they could listen to the faint sound of rain hitting the umbrella. It sounded like the rain was about to end soon. Lamentably, Gray and Juvia’s time might be ending soon too. Juvia let out another sigh, this time, a bit wistful.
“What’s wrong, Juvia?”
Gray’s face was contorted into worry.
“Nothing.” She pouted. “Juvia will just miss Gray-sama.”
Imagining the days she has to spend without the presence of Gray, Juvia couldn’t help but whine, slumping herself across the table at the sullen realization that Gray-sama will be so far away again. At the other end of the world even!
She snapped back up when warmth enclosed her hand. Her heart skipped a beat when she confirmed that it was Gray’s hand gently placed over hers. She stared at Gray, who returned the look with equal guilt and plea. His eyes, softened by his silent request, gave her an assurance that he wouldn’t be long. There was promise in them that whatever happens, he’ll find his way home – to her.
Juvia didn’t even have to hear him say it. She knew. She could see it in the way he softly looked into her eyes and gently squeezed her hand. Gray had conveyed his feelings through these simple gestures far better than his words ever could. And they reached Juvia, loud and clear.
I will be back.
Juvia will wait for you, Gray-sama.
Gray opened his mouth to say something but he quickly noticed the rain retreating. He withdrew from her gaze only to confirm this suspicion. Just like the way he tested the strength of the downpour earlier, Gray extended his free hand outside the roof of the umbrella. All the while, not loosening his hold on Juvia’s hand now enclosed in his.
Totally unnecessary but very much appreciated.
“Looks like it stopped raining.”
The realization widened both their eyes; a rapturous glimmer reflected in both. As if reading each other’s minds, Gray and Juvia cheered in unison, “Let’s try wave surfing!”
The hold on each other’s arm had become so permanent that wherever they went, none of them ever let go.
Even when the two of them were brought in at the police station for indecent exposure. Because Gray and Juvia were so excited to ride the waves, now that the sun had peaked through the clouds and the weather finally agreed with them, they both unconsciously stripped down and walked around in public in their intimates.
It didn’t come as a surprise for Gray since he’d been down the station on more than one occasion, all for the same reason. He was embarrassed though, for causing Juvia to spend the night in jail on their last night together.
“Juvia doesn’t mind, Gray-sama!”
The culprit for his current state – his face turning beet red – clung to him despite the warnings from the watch guard. The heat from, he wasn’t sure if it was because of getting in jail, their intimate position together inside the very small space, or maybe both, was making him nauseous.
What tipped the scale, though, was having Erza Scarlet march down the police station to bail them both out. And the Requip Mage did not look happy. In fact, she was so mad about having to wake up in the middle of her beauty rest and come down the station that she added another year to Gray’s ban from ever setting foot at Fairy Hills.
And for Juvia, to endure a year of curfew.
“As if it’s not punishment enough for Juvia not being able to see Gray-sama in the middle of the 100 year quest.” Juvia mumbled under her breath as she miserably followed Erza home.
“You were saying somethin’?”
Juvia was one of the strongest mages of one of the strongest guilds in Fiore. She was not afraid of anything, except for that murderous glint in Erza’s brown eyes that made her feel weak, small and breakable all at the same time.
“N-not-nothing, Erza-san.”
...
As promised, Juvia brought Gray a bento lunch she woke up so early to make. They met separately ahead of the others so that, as Gray requested, he could eat it in peace, away from the nosy fire dragon slayer who would have demanded a bite or two. They walked together to Team Natsu’s meeting point and Juvia wished them well on their journey to the Sabertooth guild. She sulked at Gray’s departure despite his assurances that he would be back, whatever it took. She suggested he give her a goodbye kiss so she wouldn’t miss him that much and aggravated the swordswoman for flirting too much in the open.
Juvia settled with just waving her beloved Gray goodbye, looking as their figures grew smaller and smaller by the distance. She didn’t know how long the quest would take her beloved away. But in those times that she missed him, in those hours that she’s alone and lonely, in those moments when her desire to see the ice-mage overwhelmed her, she had yesterday and today to think back to. This feeling today, the elated bliss lingering from having to spend the whole day with Gray, playing around and just having fun, without a care in the world.
In spite of the heavy rain.
Or maybe, because of it.
Gray not only took her rain away. Yesterday, he gave a whole different meaning to it.

Top 10 characters you could give a 2 hour presentation on with little to no preparation?
Ooo bet
1. Jellal- He's been through so much and I could talk about his journey into the light and learning to love himself and let others love him for hours. My man deserves the childhood he never got to have.
2. Laxus- This man invented character development. He's come so far emotionally and is everything Fairy Tail stands for. The fact that he thinks of himself as weak and not worthy of his friends breaks my heart
3. Juvia- She has spent her entire life fighting for her happiness and finally has it and I get so gushy about it. Also I firmly believe that hides her strength in Fairy Tail because it reminds her of having to be 'tough' in Phantom Lord and that she's tired of fighting
4. Cana- Her learning that her value doesn't come from physical strength and that she can depend on others is so underrated. My girl had some Laxus level issues but didn't make a big scene about it so no one talks about it
5. Loke- The fact that this man lost all his personality and turned into just a slutty dude is so irritating. He cares so deeply for his friends and is willing to lay his life down for them and its so overlooked (don't even get me started on the trauma from his backstory)
6. Ultear- She was done so dirty. The fact that she was raised up to be a monster, never felt loved, but grew to love one child so deeply that she turned her entire life around for her. And then she 'died' thinking she hadn't changed at all and was still a monster. God I love her
7. Lisanna- The fact that she gets brought back and then thrown to the side drives me insane. She's got that mischievous, heart of gold personality and I'd kill to see her have her own arc or character dev. Also let my girl be a badass. Her magic is so cool
8. Freed- I wanna study him like a bug. He has this strong moral code and insane loyalty that is so interesting. He truly believed he was alone in the beginning of the series so watching him learn just how many friends he has and start to open up is so cute
9. Mirajane- I'm such a sucker for the asshole character that learns kindness because of something horrible that happens to them. Plus her power is so cool and badass
10. Gajeel- This man going from being cruel and heartless to being the first to start a family makes me so soft. He's found his happiness and I'm so proud of him

I wish Juvia never existed, she's so creepy , ever since I saw her as a child I couldn't help but hate her especially in the scenes with Gray though with the continuation of the series I started to become indifferent towards her except during the scenes where she harassed Gray and even cried a little bit at her death but I have been away from the fandom for 5 years because I couldn't like ft anymore, I was really nostalgic though and heavily missing ft so I wanted to start it from the beginning but I don't know if I can anymore . I came to know that Gray has lost all personality in 100 years quest and becomes mushy for Juvia just at the mention of her name. I can't watch or read a series only to know that a character I loved has gone through "utter character assassination" . What's more insufferable is that during the ending of ft when I read it 5 years ago I myself couldn't see Gray with anyone but Juvia no matter how much I hated this pairing , Mashima forced this pairing so much that now I feel like I have no choice but to ship them, but this much of annihilation of Gray , I just can't take it anymore.
When Mashima already killed Juvia , there was no need to revive her , her death was heartwrenching for the kid me during that time even though I never liked her but his revival of all the dead characters ruined the series for me. Natsu and Gray's fight was also utterly ridiculous. And there were a whole lot of reasons.
Atleast Gray would have been single and hadn't gotten his brain been made into a mush or would have ended up with another character and honestly Gray can be shipped with so many characters whether male or female in the series, his dynamics were so interesting with so many characters but ,no, Mashima had to force him with Juvia out of all the characters.
If Juvia was an ugly character or a male character nobody would have shipped her with Gray , just because she's attractive she is shipped with him even though she is literally a stalker who sexually harasses him physically and mentally all the time. She treats him as an object of her perverted desires rather than a human being. She's obsessed with him and not in love with him. If she loved him even a little or even cared she wouldn't have crossed his boundaries all the time and neither would she have been so jealous of other characters having healthy interactions with him. I honestly think that if she never existed atleast Gray's life would have been a lot happier. Atleast after suffering so much , Gray deserved to be happy instead of being with his creepy stalker.
Ft is only successful because of fanservice now atleast in the beginning the series was actually good, the series has given me so many great memories only for them to get muddied because of the direction this series took.
Your blog is a breath of fresh air , really good work!!
Miscellaneous Thoughts on gr///via
First of all, thank you so much for your patience! I'm sorry it's taken so long to get to your ask!
And secondly, I love how much effort you put into your ask! Honestly, my thoughts aren't even needed here; you really hit so many good points about gr///via. And thank you for sharing your experiences with FT with me. I agree with practically everything you said!
Despite this, as always, I'll run my mouth down below.
I was the same as you, Anon, where I hated her immediately when she met Gray when I was a kid first watching FT. I'm glad you could also tell how awful her character so soon as well. I personally never became indifferent to her and dreaded seeing her whenever she was onscreen, since even the super rare parts of the anime where she supposedly isn't thinking about Gray are still tainted by her mean-spiritedness and disingenuousness.
I also never fully read or watched juvia's death because I dropped the very end of the series thanks to gr///via and it just not being very good or intriguing, so I can't say I've cried at her death, but I think that shows how compassionate you are if you felt sad for such a disgusting individual! I've seen panels and I've heard what happened, and it is absolutely awful. The whole fight is shoehorned in just to ship gr///via and guilt-trip Gray into taking juvia's completely insane and gross advances seriously for once, when literally any of his other guildmates would have killed themselves for him too and have tried to before, and he'd never fall in love with them, but nooo gr///via must be forced down our throats to appease the fans and fulfill Mashima's weird fantasy.
As for nostalgia, I totally get you, because after a while I always find myself drifting back to rewatch it eventually. I used to watch every scene with her in it, but on my last watch-through, I basically skipped most of her scenes. That's how I survived it, Anon, so maybe you could try the same! Though, I feel like for my next watch-through, I'll sort of have to watch her scenes and make something like a mega masterlist of how she sucks every time she's on screen lol. That sounds so painful but perhaps that's a necessary project for my blog.
I so agree with you, Anon, that I can't bear to see Gray's character assassination in 100yq, which is why a very kind Anon created a masterlist of every gr///via moment so I could read it and avoid gr///via entirely. I'll link it right here for you if you ever desire to take a gander at the admittedly apparently terrible 100yq except for Lucy's new empowerment.
I agree that juvia should've stayed dead as well. Besides me just hating her and wanting her to be gone from Gray forever, her death (and the other characters who died for that matter) really should've never been revived because it just cheapens the sacrifice they made from a story standpoint. For juvia at least, it's like "oh well i didn't lose anything in the end but now i seem like a good person! Woopdidoo". Plus, it just makes none of their deaths have any real impact. It was just for shock factor, and we all know that Mashima really doesn't like to make lasting changes. He did the same thing all the way back in the Edolas arc when he made it so that Lisanna never died, which was a terrible decision. @perfectlyimperfectcharacterfan actually gave a much better suggestion, where Lisanna actually died and the Lisanna in Edolas was in fact Edolas Lisanna, and then Natsu would get to talk with her and learn to let her go and heal. Honestly gives me goosebumps just to think about it; it's so much more mature and moving than pulling a psych on everyone.
Gray being single would've been so much better than this gr///via garbage, Anon, you're so right! Even as an avid GraLu shipper myself, I would be perfectly fine with shipping them without it being canon (as I am now), but nooo, now I have to do my best to blot such an ugly, toxic ship out of my mind.
I really have nothing to say about your 4th paragraph because I hold those opinions completely. I call out the double standard of how people treat juvia's behavior all the time, and she definitely has "pretty privilege", though personally I do not find her pretty. Gray is an object for her to obtain indeed, and I concur, he would've been infinitely happier without juvia.
And yeah, I agree that unfortunately Fairy Tail has fallen off in terms of quality hard, with the criminal pushing of gr///via going off the rails in 100yq and the lack of good story telling in general. Even the end of the main story was unravelling. Sometimes, Mashima, it's better to end and preserve your legacy. Right now, you're beating a dead horse.
Thank you so much for your kind words! So sorry I took so long to get to your ask: it was a delight to read and so very insightful!

Natsu Harem: Fairy GET! 4/14
Let's see... Pink, brown, white.... We'll go with blue. Yes, blue. (人◕ω◕)
Tumblr media
Juvia will be the next here. (人◕ω◕)
Tumblr media
When did they meet?
During the Tower of Heaven incident. (人◕ω◕) Admittedly, Juvia's "love at first sight" thing with Gray is... Well, it happened. Even with this series having fanfiction in its veins, I won't pretend the crush never existed. I already acknowledged Chelia's crush on Lyon, and Cana's dabbled around with men... Might as well touch on Juvia's obsession with Gray. I am no coward. I will overcome this hiccup with relative ease~... Not that Gray doesn't deserve a girl. ... I'm just not crazy about Gruvia. Navia is much more interesting. Fite me. (人◕ω◕)
Tumblr media
So, Juvia goes and helps Team Natsu infiltrate the Tower of Heaven to save Erza. (人◕ω◕) She's jealous of Lucy's bond with Gray, so she makes her air bubble smaller out of spite. They all manage to make it into the Tower, so no harm no foul~...
To be perfectly honest, however, Juvia and Natsu interactions are fleeting in canon. So I'll skip the long-winded review of canon events and just give a bare-bones look back at it. Even if Juvia's whole shtick is supporting and orbiting around Gray, the fact remains that she does help Team Natsu and Fairy Tail as a whole... Even joins the guild. (人◕ω◕)
Tumblr media
When did they grow closer?
This is a million yen question, folks. While there's a ton of flexibility and options, strictly going by canon Juvia would never give Natsu the time of day. Good thing I was never a canon purist. (人◕ω◕)
Juvia's thing is Gray, yeah? So it follows if she wants to be as close to him as possible, she'd hafta join Team Natsu. Cuz for better or for worse, Gray is nice and cozy on a team with his hotheaded rival, Lucy, Erza, Happy, and eventually Wendy and Carla. (人◕ω◕) That said... If Juvia does join up, I can see Erza wanting to attempt some team bonding exercises to get to know one another better~... This means not just bonding as a group, but in two- to three-person units. This means sooner or later, Juvia will have to team up with Natsu and be properly introduced.
Tumblr media
... Do not be fooled, however. (❋•‿•❋) Juvia is a stubborn, faithful woman. Bonding with Natsu is her least favorite ways to pass the time... He's loud, has no manners, always picks fights... Oh yeah. And he always beats up her Darling. (❋•‿•❋) You can be sure that in their early interactions, Juvia-chan attempted to order Natsu to stop picking fights with Gray, if only so that her Beloved could better spend his time.
Tumblr media
It doesn't work out, of course. Natsu's just as much of a free spirit as Juvia is. And moreover... Natsu and Gray both confirm for Juvia that they get plenty out of butting heads with each other; in their own quirky way, they're making sure the other isn't slacking off, and constantly measuring their strength against one another. (❋•‿•❋) Juvia might not like it... But it is what it is.
So once the initial cold shoulder phase is over and Juvia does some jobs with Natsu, she begins to see his caring spirit. Whether it's her, Happy, a client, or someone else being threatened... Natsu gives it his all to defend them. While Juvia finds it admirable, she does still think Gray is leagues above Natsu. And really, she's besties with Gajeel. She knows Dragon Slayers are strong and have big hearts. She knows that. ... They just don't appeal to her on a romantic level. (❋•‿•❋)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Here's something a little interesting, though. (❋•‿•❋) Lisanna befriended the Edolas Juvia. So when the S-Class trials come up, she volunteers to be Juvia's partner, even though Juvia is severely down in the dumps about being a rival to her Beloved. She doesn't mind Lisanna's companionship, Juvia's just got Gray on her mind. Always. (❋•‿•❋)
But the Lisanna connection really is a possible way in for Natsu. An additional way for him and Juvia to be connected. After the trials and the seven year gap, Juvia does grow closer to Lisanna, and consequentially she and Natsu get more time together little by little. (❋•‿•❋) The Navia ship is often a slowburn, folks. Natsu isn't romantically attracted to Juvia, not for a long while, and you know Juvia is a faithful woman. And you know Lisanna won't be telling Juvia to jump ship, no, no. Lisanna-chan can be a bit... greedy like her neesan. (❋•‿•❋)
Still, the Grand Magic Games goes to show Juvia that Natsu is remaining as tough as ever. Which is good for her Darling, cuz Gray needs a strong rival. (❋•‿•❋) Juvia also enjoys participating in the games...even if for the first while she was technically a rival to her Beloved. Again. But then final day of the games came up, and Juvia replaced Natsu's spot so he could go save Lucy. Then she was a teammate with Gray-sama. (❋•‿•❋)
After the games and the stuff with the dragons... Juvia-chan thinks Natsu has earned a reward for helping give her time with Gray-sama, not to mention the destruction of the Eclipse Gate. (๑╹ω╹๑ ) They're just friends, but Juvia has come to accept time with Natsu is not time wasted anymore. She winds up knitting Natsu a new scarf... Not that Natsu is willing to accept the thing, cuz the scarf he got from Igneel is more precious to him.
... This depresses Juvia a lot, considering she put a lot of thought into her gift to Natsu... On top of being rejected by Gray constantly, it's like being turned down in stereo with Natsu joining in. Natsu picks up on this, and resolves to cheer Juvia up despite not understanding what's wrong. After Mira walks him through the problem - to which he only half-listened, half-understood - Natsu decides to get Wendy's help in enchanting the scarf to have some of his Magic. He'll hafta "recharge" the scarf every now and then, every few months, but he gives the scarf back to Juvia and she's amazed at how toasty it feels. (๑╹ω╹๑ ) At first she thought Natsu was just throwing it back at her, but once he explained what he and Wendy did... Juvia's touched at Natsu's thoughtfulness. ... Even if she still hasn't given him a proper gift yet. Juvia feels bad about that. But. Natsu-kun isn't a complete blockhead of a friend, and Juvia will take this as a win. (๑╹ω╹๑ )
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Do we even need to go over Juvia and Meredy? (๑╹ω╹๑ )
Tumblr media
... (๑╹ω╹๑ );;;
Tumblr media
When does friendship turn to something more?
After Tartaros, Juvia can't think of anything except how she hurt Gray by helping "kill" his dad... She doesn't even know or think about Igneel dying... So whereas Natsu's off cavorting with the Strauss Siblings during the year hiatus, Juvia's with Gray-sama. (๑╹ω╹๑ )
... It's not exactly everything Juvia wanted, despite how she puffs it up as all that. (๑╹ω╹๑ );;; Natsu's Magic ran out months ago in the scarf, and Juvia has felt... empty without it. Plus, even with Gray treating her as a good friend, he still edges away from romance. Naturally this bums Juvia out. And when Natsu sees the scarf and just charges it up for Juvia without being prompted... That sticks in Juvia's mind. (๑╹ω╹๑ )
She's there when Fairy Tail's all reunited. And Juvia goes with Team Natsu to save Makarov from the Alvarez Empire. The subsequent war brought to Ishgar is... overwhelming. A lot happened. There's several points Juvia isn't sure how they'll make it through the day.... But they do.
And in spite of everything that's happened... Gray still turns her down for a relationship. Of course he was overly apologetic about nearly killing her, and Juvia is a precious friend to him... But Gray can't force something that isn't there. He carried his dad's wish to hunt down END and kill him for the past year, and now he's just not sure what he's gonna do from now on. Sticking with Fairy Tail and Team Natsu is obvious, protecting his friends is "no duh", but he just... His head's not in the right place for a relationship. He needs time to unwind and figure out his own personal goals in life.
Tumblr media
Not that this more decisive rejection doesn't rattle Juvia to her core... She keeps insisting she'll wait for Gray, but her insistence only makes Gray all the more resolved to keep his answer as "no"; cuz in his mind, Juvia deserves better after the mistakes he's made. And she shouldn't put her whole love life on hold, let alone dedicate herself to someone that just may never reciprocate...
That's when Gray decides to get Natsu, Lisanna, and Meredy's help on this one. They're all friends with Juvia, and if anyone could get Juvia off this tunnel vision thing, it'd be them... It's not easy. Juvia is tenacious, committed, and really, does anyone like admitting it's over when it's over...?
Tumblr media
After some prodding from Lisanna and Meldy, Natsu takes Juvia out for dinner. He even gets dressed up with the girls' help, and go to a nice restaurant. Sure, it's not this perfect outing that Juvia envisioned, and she's even more devastated when she perceives Lisanna and Meldy's intentions to get her to try a date with Natsu...
But at the end of the day, Juvia only realized the outing was a "date" after it was nearing its end. Despite the high class restaurant, going to a nighttime festival, doing whatever Juvia was up for... Juvia just took it all as Natsu trying to cheer her up. When she realized it was a date, Juvia was certainly revolted at first, that she enjoyed herself with someone other than Gray-sama...
Tumblr media
... But after all this time with Natsu, Juvia knows he never meant any ill will. Natsu knows her feelings for Gray are strong, and he's not trying to erase them out of spite. He's helping out because even the Stripper is concerned for Juvia, that Lisanna and Meldy are worried for her, and they all just want Juvia to be happy.
Tumblr media
It's still a bitter pill to swallow, to just give up on Gray after all this time... But Natsu-kun has always been there, as have Lisanna and Meldy. They've been great friends... And Juvia supposes she can learn to love Natsu more "properly". (๑╹ω╹๑ ) For Natsu's part... He never has to complain about Juvia being "fired up" for jobs or much of anything. Their mutual passion for life bounces off each other quite nicely~... Yes. This couple has all the good vibes. \(๑╹ω╹๑ )/

okay i watched like half the first season of fairy tail when it first came out but was quickly consumed by twilight (i am old) so how would u pitch it to me..................
oh lord i’m so bad at describing things
fairy tail is a series i fell in love with the characters over the plot!! like the plot is fine but the characters and their bonds and backstories and lives are what i got invested in, so
it’s THE found family of all time. literally just a bunch of weirdos who found eachother in their guild and decided to love eachother and that they were family. and seeing them all grow up and mature as time goes on has been so fun and emotional lmao
the core group (lucy, natsu, erza, grey, happy, and later also wendy) are my absolute babies and their adventures and subsequent misadventures are the worlds most dysfunctional sibling road trips of all time, but their magic is fun to watch (i like women with big swords) and the fight scenes are really cool (i like women with big swords) and as much as people say it’s all just the power of friendship it really is cool to watch them work out how to best use their skills (i like women with big swords)
the best arc is probably the grand magic games which is basically wizard olympics, but seeing the contrast between that point in the series vs the beginning showed so much growth and development from a bunch of immature teenagers into determined young adults and UGH lucy deserved better that who arc
also juvia my sweet baby :’)))))) i love her sm she’s the reason i got my tattoo on my thigh and she’s probably one of the characters who has the best growth, and also her and lucy’s friendship is so beautiful and watching them become friends :’)
ALSO THE ENEMIES TO LOVERS UGH 3/4 of the main ships are enemies to lovers and one of those ships ends up expecting kids together which is sooooooo beautiful because he literally planned to die young and now he wants to live for her and their kids and he wants to die old and grey next to her like 😭😭
also i would fuck titan makarov. who said that

Pressured princess Juvia for the Royal au! 🙂🙂🙂
[Thank you to @rosietrace for giving me the idea of Juvia’s curse!!]
Anddd tagging the other besties in this au ofc: @authoruio (who owns Mitch 💓), @starry-night-rose , @fumikomiyasaki @nem0-nee (who owns Mayuu💘) and @sakuramidnight15 )
Juvia’s the heir to the family throne, slowly being crushed by the weight of all the expectations that have been placed on her by her family (namely her mother). She was one of the few people within the Kingdom to be cursed by an unknown entity : All her dreams may never come true. Every night when she goes to sleep, she has the sweetest of dreams. A free life to do whatever she wishes, her mother supporting her, and her fiancé being right by her side…but it was all just a dream…Right?
Finally fed up with the treatment she receives, Juvia racks up the courage to run away from everything. But…she doesn’t know where she’s going. The only place she’s memorized how to get to just so happens to be her arranged fiancé’s castle.
She makes her way there, not knowing she’s being followed. Her personal knight Deuce Spade, assigned to keep and eye on her, continues with his duty to protect her and stays ten steps behind Juvia throughout her journey. As much as it pains him to see Juvia with her fiancé, He knows he never stood a chance. Only In his dreams.
Once Juvia’s finally made it to his castle, she manages to sneak behind towards the fountain hidden in the flower garden surrounded by deep red roses and sunny marigolds. Their favorite flowers. And his favorite place to be at night. She calls out his name, not loudly as to not disturb anyone who could possibly be around, but loud enough for him to snap his head back at the familiar voice he’s grown to love.
“I need you to help me, Mitch. This is the one thing I ask of you so please..”
The desperation in Juvia’s voice made his heart strain. Mitch didn’t even know he could still feel such things. There was only one thing on his mind after that moment : Bring Juvia the happiness she deserves.
From then on, Mitch guided Juvia away from all the things that hurt her, her soft shaky hand in his rough calloused one. The hand Deuce’s gloved hand has only held from helping her down the stairs.
On their way to who knows where, the Royals (and hidden knight) stumble upon an old, mossy tower. Originally intending to just walk on by, they hear questionable noises from said tower. A crash, a groan, and a swear. Well….curiosity killed that cat. Naturally, they went up into the tower. Mitch’s hold on Juvia was tight with the creaky steps and falling rubble. Once they reached the top, it truly was a sight to behold.
Books scattered, pages with near ineligible writing and drawings and a couple spilt potions had covered the floor of the towers only room. And stood in the corner was someone with their back turned, talking to themselves and searching for something.
“Uhm…Excuse me!”
The hooded figure jumped and screeched in shock at a voice other than their own. They took their hood off to reveal a young woman with glasses, blue hair and heavy dark circles. After the initial shock, the woman introduced herself as Mayuu, a wizard who resides in this tower with the intent to guide those who come across. It was almost ironic the two Royals decided to feed their curiosity and venture inside.
“What can I do? Will I ever find the freedom and happiness I’ve longed for?”
Juvia explained her curse to the wizard Mayuu, doing her best to not shed a tear. She was always the emotional type. Mayuu couldn’t help but feel an intense wave of nostalgia course through her body. She’s dealt with this situation before. Very recently.
“Go against your curse. Set your happiness in stone and you’ll be the victor. What do you really want to do?”
What do I really want to do? It was a rather vague question but it gave Juvia the push she needed. She knew exactly what she wanted. She wanted to be with someone. Someone who loves her, who cares for her, is willing to protect her and support her throughout all the rough times. But that arose yet another problem….There were two people who fit that description. Juvia loved Mitch, she really did. But she made up her mind the moment she met him. Her knight Deuce Spade was the one.
Mitch could see it in her eyes and facial expression, the way her breathing started to pick up. He wanted to be the one, but that would defeat the purpose of his goal. He wants Juvia wants to be happy, and her happiness is with her Knight. Walking down and out of the tower after giving the wizard Mayuu an extremely generous payment, It was silent. The two of them just stood there facing one another, eyes however staring at the ground which seemed more important. Mitch was the one to break the silence, how unusual of him… He took Juvia’s hand once more for the last time, bowed, and placed a gentle fluttering kiss upon her hand.
“I hope you find your happiness, even without me.”
And with that he looks behind Juvia, signaling towards the Knight that he can stop hiding. She whips her head around, in utter shock at the sight of Deuce. Slowly, the princess and the knight walked towards each other, as if scared the other would disappear. Once they stood merely a few centimeters apart, a wave of light surrounded them. Blue butterflies with golden specks flew freely in the area. The curse was lifted, Juvia knew. She finally found her happiness.
Mitch, used to this feeling of emptiness, simply turned around with the slightest smile on his face and made his way back home.
His mission was completed.

as much as i love to shake my finger at Natsu for leaving Lucy that one year, i kinda feel like he’s not the worst person in this scenario. We all know the things he went through and wanted to battle on his own before returning to his guild, and its honestly reasonable (though never let that man write a letter again, who says bye like that lmao)
can we please talk about how Lucy ended up completely alone when the guild disbanded??? She has loads of friends in that guild, but Levy ran off with Gajeel (they wanted to shag so fair enough), Gray and Erza kept in contact, Juvia went along with Gray, and the Strauss-siblings stuck together as well. Wendy went to Chelia (which is also fair enough because they’re cute together and deserve to hang every second of the year) and she wasn’t alone since she had Carla from the guild with her. Obviously idk what the other guild mates did, but literally no matter what they went off doing, why couldn’t anyone keep in contact with Lucy?
Our girl was literally left completely alone. Like yes, she has her spirits which never makes her truly alone (her words) but now that Loke mostly spends his time in the celestial realm, it isn’t quite the same to say that he kept contact and is a guild member.
Like honestly, they all owe her an apology. She wasn’t exactly undercover either, she was literally working as a journalist - I’m pretty sure Juvia said she read all Lucy’s articles (maybe it wasn’t Juvia but someone said it). So why couldn’t they just talk to her? Reach out, ask how she’s doing.
Lucy didn’t have the guts to do that because she felt like everyone had moved on with their lives. She felt like she was alone in feeling like she still was stuck in between normal life and the guild life. She did what she could to know where her friends were, and made sure that they all were safe (as safe as a mage can be) and in my opinion her reason for not reaching out makes sense. Theirs don’t (some of them do. Gray and Erza were doing that crazy undercover mission - though why didn’t they let Lucy join? Another question raised lol, and Wendy is too timid in her personality and probably felt like she was trespassing into Lucy’s private life if she considered contacting her, so her reason checks out as well).
i’m probably reaching as usual (and also rambling as usual, why do my posts get so long) but lucy is my babe and she’s been through so much that i just want her happy. peace out ✌🏼

I love the friendship between Gajeel and Juvia, even though there's not a lot aboutvit in canon, so... can I please request their bond for your game, please? With 💛🧡💚
Aww this is so wholesome, Anon! Thank you so much!! 🥰 I absolutely love the friendship between Gajeel and Juvia too, and I really wish we got to see more of it in the canon. [A/N: It's actually kind of funny that I got this ask because my sister was just teasing me the other day for somehow managing to cram this friendship into my Fairy Tail fic (even though it wasn't really about that) just because I love them so much 😅 but I digress...] I would be delighted to write some headcanons about them for you, and I really hope you will like these! Thanks again for the ask and for playing my game! 💛
Questions from this "Bye Bye Writer's Block" Ask Game
Gajeel Redfox & Juvia Lockser Friendship Headcanons
💛-- Friendship
A long time ago Juvia made a loaf of banana bread and gave it to Gajeel on a whim, and Gajeel's grateful reaction convinced her that it was one of his favourite foods so to this day she goes out of her way to make it for him on special occasions or just to show that she's thinking of him. In an attempt to thank her once, Gajeel tried to bake his own banana bread for Juvia, but it didn't turn out. However, Juvia was very touched by the thoughtfulness of his gesture and offered to teach him how to make it.
The truth is that Gajeel doesn't really care for banana bread--he was merely grateful that Juvia had made him something and was moved by her kindness, thoughtfulness, and generosity. He doesn't ever correct her, however, because he loves how happy she is when she gives it to him and is very thankful to have something they can share together as friends.
🧡-- Childhood/Backstory
Though Gajeel would most likely deny it, he has always felt protective of Juvia in an older brother kind of way and has (albeit secretly) tried to look out for her from their days in Phantom Lord. When Juvia first tried to join Phantom Lord, Gajeel couldn't really understand why someone like her would want to join the Phantom guild in the first place and honestly thought she was stupid a little naive in the beginning. Surprising even himself, however, this really struck a nerve in him, and he decided she deserved to be protected, a duty he took upon himself. Unbeknownst to Juvia, Gajeel really went out of his way to make sure no one else in their dark guild (especially its more rough and unsavory members) messed with her, and this ultimately helped her be accepted by Phantom Lord much more easily and quickly. To this day, Juvia has no idea that Gajeel was secretly looking out for her all this time, a bit like her guardian angel (though he probably wouldn't like that title), and he doesn't plan to tell her. (Panther Lily and Levy have both figured it out, however, and think this big brother side of him is very sweet).
💚-- General
Gajeel has quite the collection of hand-knitted gifts from Juvia. The collection started when one winter, Juvia knitted him a pair of mittens, and even though Gajeel isn't usually the type to wear woolen, winter mittens (he generally gets uncomfortably warm if he bundles up too much), he was genuinely moved by the gesture, especially the time and effort Juvia put into making them for him and kept them in a safe place. Juvia eventually knits a matching scarf and two matching hats, one for Gajeel and one for Panther Lily (with holes cut out for his ears of course). Gajeel keeps all the gifts, but the ones he gets the most use out of are the socks. He wears each pair of socks Juvia knitted for him down until they're tattered, and somehow Juvia always seems to know when his socks are wearing thin because she'll somehow have another pair ready to give him at the perfect time. What Gajeel doesn't know is that Juvia has a whole box of socks she has knitted especially for him for whenever he might need them.
