Thinking about the partners of Hero’s that are left behind when they go on missions…

Thinking about late night phone calls with other wives and such, their voices shaking bc oversees someone missed their 7pm check-in. Or about, tear stained hugs and shared panic - the same look that seems to grow into all of your eyes as you pace your living room knowing that somewhere, a few miles away, there are four more of you doing the same…

But, I’m also thinking about the friendship, the bond that you share. About surprise birthday parties and early brunches, someone to babysit when you’re at your last nerve, alone and wishing it wasn’t so hard without them.

I’m thinking about the line of you, all giddy and excited, hands twisting as you wait in the airport. Some of you have children tugging at your jeans, others bouquets in your arms; but all of you have smiles.

Because sure, you share all of the bad times… The loneliness, the uncertainty and struggle; but you also share this too.

And it’s all worth it again, when you get to see them come home.

tis a travel day for me, so i'm reminding everyone that constantine's annoying ass spends plane rides planning pranks for his friends and occasionally haunting/horrifying the people he's sitting next to if he hates them enough. will come up with the most gruesome bullshit story if he thinks it'll get a funny reaction, and if he's feeling feisty, he'll do it twenty minutes into a three hour flight. also, hoards plane peanuts and pretzels like a chipmunk.

getting on a plane in like 2hrs to go see twice's concert tomorrow and i am Anxious but excited

Guess who has a new addition to the “characters i relate to to the point where it’s like someone just kinda turned me into clay and put me into a different shaped body bc holy shit why is this character exactly like me???” list!

(it’s Cherry from Words Bubble Up Like Soda Pop. the WHOLE TIME while i was watching that movie i would pause, open up the texts with my friend, and immediately send 2-3 paragraphs talking about how autistic Cherry is and how much i relate to him.)

okay but as i watched it i kept seeing Cherry and going “how are you me? how are you exactly like me?” and i love finding fictional characters that are just like me and not portrayed in a mean way. i mean people who are autistic bc while he may not have been intended to be autistic he definitely is.

i especially related to the headphones stuff, not the “i don’t really listen to music” but the way he’s shown to use them to avoid talking to people or block out sound or- okay this may sound weird but other neurodivergent people you know what i mean when i say those headphones are his comfort item? like when you need to have at least one of those items on you at all times unless you are in a relaxing sensory-overload-free safe space and if you aren’t in one of those safe spaces you feel incredibly uncomfortable without one of those items? okay that might just be a me thing but i can’t be the only one.

i also related a bunch to his struggling with reading something in front of people, especially because it’s something he made and i know what it’s like. writing something is like “i want everyone (who would appreciate it) except for people who know me or can actually see and hear me to read this”

also the whole struggling to pick up on some cues and all of the being socially inept.

there’s more but i don’t feel like typing it all out- overall i love finding characters just like me who i can relate to on a personal level and everything-
