“Seungkwan?” You could hear Vernon’s voice over the speaker. “Hey?”

Seungkwan mumbled out his other best friend’s name--he always swore that you were his number one now--before going quiet. He babbled immediately about how much he loved him and how much he appreciated having him as a friend.

“Love you, too, but--Didn’t Jeonghan call your ride? Where are you?”

“I’ve got him,” you called out. “Sorry, Vernon.”

“See! They’ve got me!” Seungkwan said. “They came to pick me up because they’re my best friend. They’re always so nice to me...”

“Get home safe,” Vernon said. “I’ll talk to you guys tomorrow, yeah?”

Soon enough, the car had quieted. Seungkwan had rolled down his window, eyes shut as he felt the wind against his face. He looked up after a few minutes, staring at you for a little too long that you could feel it.

“This is a bad time, but... Are you single?” He asked you quietly. He could see where there was a darker patch of skin underneath your collar, barely hidden by it. 

You thought he was joking. You laughed a little, keeping your eyes on the road. “No, Seungkwan, I have a boyfriend. He’s really cute.”

“Oh...” He trailed off. You spared him a glance and he looked like he would have started sobbing at any moment. “I hope you’re happy with him...”

“Seungkwan, why do you look like you’re going to cry?”

“I just--” He started, wiping at his eyes. “I always really liked you a lot, and I was really scared I’d ruin our friendship if I told you. You’re always so nice to me and you listen and you take care of me and--and you’re so nice! Is it Mingyu? Are you dating Mingyu?” He frowned. “I get it... Mingyu’s hot and tall and he can cook and--”

You needed to keep an eye on how much he drank from now on. Just to be sure he’ll be fine. “Kwannie... We’re dating. I was just teasing you.”

He stopped his blubbering immediately, staring at you. “We are?” He cracked a smile after wiping at his eyes. “Good.”

“Okay, we’re gonna get you some water when we get home and you’re gonna lie down, okay?”

He reached out, taking your hand in his and bringing it up so he could press kisses onto the back of it. “Thank you for taking care of me,” he mumbled. “You’re so nice...”

Bringing Seungkwan back up to your apartment was easy enough. All you had to do was promise to hold his hand the entire way and he was more than happy to stick close to you. You immediately got him water while trying to figure out if he ate while he was with Jeonghan and Seokmin, because you might need to get some actual food in him if he didn’t. Drinking on an empty stomach was always a bad idea, but it happened. You get him fed and plenty of water into his system before helping him get dressed for bed. You still had a few things you needed to do before you crashed for the night, but your boyfriend was cozy enough.

“Wait, wait,” he reached out, fingers brushing against your wrist. “You forgot something.”

You turned back, and he smiled at you before tapping at his own lips. Dork. But he was your dork. You planted a quick peck against his lips, and he stopped you before you could pull away. Just to plant one of his own against yours.

“I’m glad I’m in love with you,” he mumbled.

You were glad, too.

Chapter 2: The One Who Felt Like an Autumn Breeze

Summary: Throughout one’s life, you fall in love with many people, some will stay for a long time and some will be like a passing wind. As (Y/n) is cleaning to prepare to move, she finds some old pictures from when she was young and begins reminiscing on some old relationships she used to have. The memories, the laughs, the pain, they were all things she had to go through to find the love she has today. 

In this story, Woozi, Dk, and (Y/n) are the same age and Seungkwan is one year younger than them

Third person POV

I picked up another pile of photos from the box, this one much thicker, and in a way much more precious because it contained so many memories. This pile contained my entire childhood you could say, pictures from when I was 2-3 years old, all the photos were of me and my best friend Seungkwan. We were always together, and every day of my life that was important involved Seungkwan. My very first memory (well that I can remember now) has him in it. It’s from Halloween when I was 5 and Seungkwan was 4, it was our first time going trick-or-treating. I was dressed like a cat and Seungkwan was dressed like a puppy. I looked through the photos and found one picture from that day. I didn’t look very happy because I wanted to be a dog too, Seungkwan was so excited he could barely stand still for the photo. Our parents had to take a couple of photos to get at least one good one, though because of Kwan’s energy half of them turned out very blurry. Seungkwan was there for me as I went through my first heartbreak when I broke up with Jihoon. Seungkwan made it hurt just a little bit less until it completely stopped hearting and my heart began beating for someone else. 

~ Flashback in (Y/n)’s POV ~ 

The last days of the summer break were hard. All I wanted to do was shut myself in my room and cry. I missed Jihoon so much, I know we weren’t together for that long but he was my first love and I didn’t want to let him go. Even though I tried shutting the world out, my best friend, Seungkwan, wouldn’t allow me to do that. 

*Knock knock* 

“(Y/n)? Hello? I know you’re in there, your mom let me in. Open the door,” “(Y/n), come on, I’ll break down the door or risk my life climbing in through your window,” “You can shut everyone else out but not me, we promised to never do this to each other. So, open up this damn door so I can be depressed with you,” Seungkwan sat outside my bedroom door for 2 hours, talking to himself as if he was talking with me. At first, I was just annoyed with him but after a while, it felt comforting. So, after 2 hours, I unlocked my bedroom door and let him inside. 

“(Y/n)! You’re okay,” Seungkwan immediately hugged me, he took a deep breath as he held me in his arms. “I’m sorry for shutting you out,” “It’s okay, you’re okay, so it’s okay, just please, never do it again,” “I promise, I’ll never shut you out again, Kwan,” “Good, now, do you want to eat ice cream and watch sad movies or go outside to see the world?” “Ice cream and movies, as long as you’re a part of the deal,” “Deal, you pick a movie and I’ll go get the ice cream from the freezer,” “But we don’t have any ice cream at home?” “I brought some with me, I just didn’t want to have it with me while waiting so I asked your mom to put it in the freezer,” “My smart Seungkwan,” Seungkwan gave me one more hug before he went downstairs, I heard him tell my mom that I had finally opened my door and let him inside. Mom was happy to hear that I had finally let Seungkwan in again, she knew I wouldn’t open up to her but I would always talk with Seungkwan. So, this was a step in the right direction.

Seungkwan forced me to get out of the house and walk around, he said that the sun would miss me if I didn’t. Seungkwan had always had a talent of making me happy and feel better whenever I was sad, he was my best friend for a reason. With one more day of summer break, Seungkwan pulled together a little party with some of our friends. At first, I didn’t want to go but eventually, Seungkwan along with Joshua and Wonwoo persuaded me. My heart still hurt from losing Jihoon, but each day was getting better, all thanks to my bestie Boo. 

~ End of flashback, Third Person pov ~

(Y/n) flipped through some more photos that showed the growth of her and Seungkwan. In the first couple of photos, (Y/n) was taller than Seungkwan but throughout the years, he outgrew her. After looking at a few pictures, (Y/n) found a picture from the last day of summer break, from the party Seungkwan pulled together. It was a group picture, (Y/n) was in the middle with Seungkwan, Joshua, and Jun on her right and Chan and Wonwoo on her left. They were all smiling, laughing actually. Chan and Joshua had some cake smudged on their faces, courtesy of Seungkwan and Jun pushing their heads into the cake moments before taking the picture. That day was filled with happy memories, not once did (Y/n) think about Jihoon as she was too busy finally being happy again. 

The next picture in the pile was a photo from the first day of (Y/n)’s second year in high school and Seungkwan’s first. They went to school together that day so (Y/n)’s parents took a picture of the two, saying they would cherish that when they got older. 

~ Flashback in (Y/n)’s POV ~ 

I was excited to get back to school as I wouldn’t have as much time to think about Jihoon, sure I would see all the places we used to hang out but now I could make new memories there with Seungkwan. As Boo and I posed for the photo my parents wanted to take, I was eagerly awaiting the walk to school. Something I once dreaded, but now looked forward to. As long as I have Seungkwan with me, everything will be okay. 

“Come on, let me show you around!” “Let’s go!” I showed Seungkwan all the good spots around the school before we had to get to our classes. We met up for lunch and ate together with our whole friend group. Seungkwan, Wonwoo, Joshua, Jun, Chan, and myself. It was nice to have all of them there. I also spoke with Seungcheol, Minghao, and Soonyoung during the day, something I never thought I would do as they reminded me of Jihoon too much. But I realized that during the moments I had met them, they too became my friends. Soon enough, they had joined my friend group and the boys quickly grew to like each other. 

The days and weeks flew by and before we knew it, autumn was here. The leaves turned yellow and orange until they floated down to the ground, leaving the trees bare as the wind grew colder and stronger day by day. My heart was no longer shattered into a thousand pieces from the breakup with Jihoon. No, it had slowly been put together piece by piece thanks to Seungkwan. With every laugh, every movie we watched, all the times we held hands to not lose each other in a crowd, and all the ‘just because’ hugs. 

Minghao invited all of us to a party to celebrate his birthday. He decided to celebrate a little earlier than usual to be able to have the party during Halloween. Our entire friend group was going + like a million people, Minghao knew a lot of people. Or, he just invited everyone hoping for more presents. In honor of 5-year-old me, I decided to dress up as a dog because I never had before and I really had been jealous of Seungkwan for being a dog that year. Unbeknownst to me, Seungkwan had a similar idea as he too dressed up like a dog just like that year from our childhood. 

Seungkwan’s POV

I spent four days, pestering Joshua into asking (Y/n) what she was dressing up as for Minghao’s party. I wanted to match with her without her knowing it happened intentionally. Hoping it would make her realize that we were meant to be. I had been in love with her since I was 12 so it did hurt seeing her get into a relationship with someone else, and I would be lying if I said I wasn’t a little happy when they broke up. Though it mostly hurt, seeing my best friend so broken. Even if we never become anything more than friends that's fine with me, I’m okay with just standing by her side, being her best friend. But I do dream of what it would be like if we dated. 

After four days of pestering Joshua, he did ask her. Hearing her idea, I couldn’t help but smile. I remembered that Halloween, our first trick or treat, holding hands as we walked door to door in our neighborhood. Sometimes I think I fell in love with her that day, I probably did. I quickly hurried out and bought everything I needed to put together my own dog costume, one that would resemble the one I had that day a few years ago. 

(Y/n)’s POV

I was running a bit late to the party as it took longer than expected to get my makeup right. Seungkwan and the others were meeting me at the party, so at least I wasn’t holding anyone else back. I quickly ran down the stairs and threw on my shoes before rushing outside to head over to the party. 

It didn’t take me too long to get to the party. I knocked on the door and waited for someone to open it. About a minute later it was opened and I was surprised to find Seungkwan dressed as a puppy on the other side of it. “YOU’RE A PUPPY TOO?” “Hello to you too, (Y/n). And, yes, what else would I be?” We laughed it off before we headed inside. I was the last of our closest friend group to arrive so Seungkwan led me over to the others. 

The night was quite fun, we danced, sang, and had some competitions here and there. Overall, the party was very successful. Minghao was happy with everything. Eventually, people began leaving the party and before we knew it, only our friend group was left. We didn’t feel ready to part just yet so we sat down in a circle on the ground and just talked. Chan suddenly gave a suggestion that I wasn’t expecting, he suggested we played “Truth or dare” and all the boys were quick to agree. 

Most of the dares and the truths were stupid things like “Do an impression of Professor Kim” “Drink this disgusting drink we made of random things in the fridge,” Everything was quite harmless and fun, or at least until it was once again Seungkwan’s turn to be asked and he chose dare. Joshua, Jun, and Dino looked at one another mischievously while snickering. “We dare you to, kiss (Y/n),” “WHAT?” Seungkwan and I said in unison and in panic. 

Seungkwan looked at me nervously as he crawled closer to me, just as he was kneeling in front of me he whispered “Is this okay?” “Yes,” Normally I would have said no, but something in me told me to say yes. Seungkwan slowly leaned in and gave me a quick peck on the lips, to which all our friends broke out into loud cheers and whistles. Once the kiss was over, Seungkwan’s face was as red as a tomato. Mine probably was too. Our eyes met for a second before we quickly looked away, Seungkwan moved back to his original seat. For the remaining hour of the party, Seungkwan and I didn’t look at each other once. 

When I got home that night, as I laid down in bed, all I could think about was how much I actually liked kissing Seungkwan. And also, how much I wanted to do it once again. I was confused over this feeling, he was my best friend, the boy I have known my entire life, and now I had a crush on him?!? HUh? Why? I wondered if maybe, Seungkwan liked me too. Could that be why he was so flustered after the kiss? Or was he just embarrassed because he had his first kiss with his childhood best friend in front of our friend group? Probably the latter option. 

Seungkwan’s POV

After the kiss, I couldn’t help but wish for more. I always thought just being friends was enough but after the kiss, I kept yearning for more. Each night after the party I dreamt of how it would feel to be (Y/n)’s boyfriend, to hold her hand, to hug her, to hold her, to kiss her in the rain, as it snows, to kiss her in front of a warm fire. My dreams weren’t helping my situation of trying to stay put in my place as her best friend.  

As the weeks went by, I noticed that (Y/n) was acting a bit weird around me. It wasn’t anything big but I noticed it. How she always moved a little closer to me when we sat on the couch watching a movie, how she often looked at me when I wasn’t looking at her, how she smiled even more around me, how she often looked at my hand when we walked beside each other, almost reaching for my hand but right before touching it she moved her hand away. 

Over the months, through Christmas and New Year's eve, I built the courage to ask her out on a date. I was building the courage to possibly ruin our friendship. I was terrified, but I needed to know, especially now that she was, probably, sending me hints of her possible feelings. 

(Y/n)’s POV 

The months after the party and the kiss turned my world upside down. I officially had feelings for Seungkwan. Boo Seungkwan, my childhood best friend. I tried to give subtle hints of my feelings for him to see how he would react, only to remember that guys pretty much never understand girl hints. I felt like he didn’t act any differently towards me after the kiss from before it. 

Months had passed, Seungkwan’s birthday had been, and it was now spring, the snow had begun to thaw, the flowers had begun to sprout, and my feelings, just like the flowers were in full bloom. The weekend was approaching and I needed to talk about my feelings, usually I would talk with Seungkwan about these things but I couldn’t talk about my feelings for him with him. So, I invited Wonwoo for a sleepover. I didn’t dare invite Joshua because I knew he would become too excited and accidentally tell Seungkwan about my feelings. Wonwoo came over with a bunch of snacks, ready to help me with my problem. 

“Okay, Woo, here’s the thing. After Minghao’s party, you know after the kiss, I developed feelings for Seungkwan. And I don’t know whether I should tell him or try to get over him, what do you think?” Wonwoo adjusted his glasses as he gave me a smile. “I don’t think you need to worry, (Y/n). I’m not sure but from my observations, I would say that both you and Seungkwan have harbored feelings for each other after the kiss or even possibly since before it. So, if you want to take the step and confess your feelings I would encourage it just as I would support you if you don’t want to do that,” Wonwoo ended his little speech with a hug, one I definitely needed. 

After the sleepover with Wonwoo, I was certain of my feelings and my stance on the situation. I wouldn’t take the first step, so If Seungkwan didn’t do anything then we would just remain as friends, however, if he did say or do anything to confess, I would accept it. 

In the middle of April, it finally happened. “(Y/n), I have to tell you something, and if you don’t want to be friends anymore, that’s fine, 'cause I just have to tell you,” “What is it, Boo?” “I’m in love with you,” “Yeah, I don’t think I want to be friends anymore,” “Oh, really?” “Yeah, 'cause I want to be more. I’m in love with you too,” Seungkwan’s confession to me ended with our second kiss, this one in privacy and it was much longer. This was the start of a beautiful relationship. 

~ End of Flashback, (Y/n)’s POV ~

I flipped through a few more pictures, some of them from Christmas after the first kiss, New Year’s Eve, from Seungkwan’s birthday, and finally I stopped at the Polaroid picture that was a bit blurry, taken in the dark of Seungkwan’s room from the day he confessed to me. It was a photo of us sharing a kiss as we smiled. It brought back a lot of memories for me looking at this picture. Seungkwan was my childhood best friend, a person involved in all of my core memories from my childhood. My relationship with him was beautiful and I wish we could have made it work for longer but it wasn’t what destiny had in mind for us. 

~ Flashback in Third person POV ~

Some years passed and (Y/n) graduated from high school, now she was preparing to go to college. Joshua, Wonwoo, and Jun all ended up choosing the same college as each other so they hoped they could share a dorm. Seungcheol, Hoshi, and Minghao all chose the same college as well. Only leaving (Y/n), she ended up being the only one from their group choosing this one specific college. Which was scary for her, for the first time she would know no one, meaning it would be hard to make friends. 

(Y/n) and Seungkwan tried to deal with the long distance. They truly did their best. Texting and face-timing or calling whenever they could. Seungkwan visited (Y/n) as often as he could, though soon he became too busy to visit her, and (Y/n) became too busy to even call or text him as she adjusted to the heavy workload she had. 

One weekend when (Y/n) was visiting her parents and Seungkwan, she was determined to have a difficult discussion with her boyfriend. The young couple went up to (Y/n)’s room as her parents left for dinner with some of their other friends. “Seungkwan, I love you. I really do, but I don’t think I can deal with the long distance anymore. It’s only been a month and I’m feeling so bad because I can’t text you as often, I feel bad because I can’t return your calls as I am too tired to look at my phone after a day of lectures. I feel like my mental health can’t handle a long-distance relationship,” (Y/n) was crying heavily at the end of her explanation. 

“(Y/n), it’s okay. I understand how you feel. I love you too, but honestly, I feel the same way. I hate the distance, and this hatred is making me hate the relationship itself, not you but the idea of the relationship. I want you to thrive in college, have fun, and live your life. I don’t want you to feel bad because of me. I want to be happy too, and since you moved away, I haven’t really been happy. Maybe for both of us, it would be better if we broke up. In the future, we might find our way back to each other,” 

It hurt them both, but for them, it was the right decision. Neither one wanted to cause the other pain nor did they want themselves to live in pain. If they wanted to be able to save their friendship, breaking up was the only choice. Maybe destiny had someone else in mind for them or would they perhaps fall in love with one another once again later on in life? 

~ End of flashback, (Y/n)’s POV ~

As I looked at the last picture Seungkwan and I took as a couple, I felt a single tear fall down my cheek. It was a picture my parents took of us on the day we broke up. In the picture, we were moving out of a hug, with tears in our eyes but smiles on our faces. Seungkwan’s mouth was slightly open from him just whispering I will always love you to me. After that, we separated and I went back to my college dorm. 

Seungkwan was still in my life but we weren’t nearly as close as we used to be. We mostly only met the times I came home and the other boys were visiting their parents too and we would meet up to hang out with the full group. I spoke more with Wonwoo, Joshua, Minghao, Hoshi, and Scoups than I did with Seungkwan. Anyone who met me at that time would think that Seungkwan and I had never really known each other but only had common friends. 

Maybe Seungkwan and I’s relationship was just a passing breeze, it was gentle and sweet like a crisp autumn breeze that slightly rattles the orange levees making them dance.

thank you to alice (koogyv on twt) for the amazing thread that i highly interacted with as inspiration. there are many similarities. i expanded upon it more.

this is my take: 

det. jake peralta 

hoshi 

“i wasn’t hurt that badly. the doctor said all my bleeding was internal. that’s where the blood’s supposed to be!” 

arguably, this is the best pairing made. he’s silly, hard-working, creative, and most of all -- he’s gunsta think about the turtles. even as a jokes-first seriousness-second type of person, jake is a thoughtful and caring person who would put himself down to save others. he’s sharp, perceptive, and great at deduction, but often discredits himself with his great delusion, playfulness, and childish nature. he’s a trendsetter and loves to joke around, and when he has a great thought, he’s going to put it into action. (“yeah, that’s right. i’m about to monologue, son.”) his favorite movie is die hard (hoshi as a shawol), is canonically broke (hoshi’s constant money loss due to him spoiling everything), and tries to annoy suspects into confessing their crimes. 

men can have duality. they can be serious and also put orange soda in their cereal. hoshi, as a Super Gemini™ knows all about it. he’s playful but knows when to be serious and takes his line of work very seriously. sure, he has some growing up to do and can immerse himself in a different role (horanghae <3) very easily, but he plays to his strengths and that of others with his determination and persistence.

“wait a minute. this isn’t the championship cummerbund. this is some common cummerbund. and, you’re not cheddar. you’re just some common bitch!” 

“this bitch? please. watch.” (to the dog, ‘some common bitch’) “shake… shake! psshh. idiot.” 

this is probably the most obvious and predictable choice after jake=hoshi. a born leader, full of wisdom, and no-nonsense… well, some nonsense is okay. captain holt is ambitious and looks after his squad with both care for their goals and their personalities. even though he may seem a little unapproachable or stoic, he’s actually a really funny and goofy guy. he laughs when he eats marshmallows (“a marshed mallow? don’t mind if i do.”) he’s very adamant about his passions (like john phillip sousa being the skrillrex of his day) and his a very consistent guy (ref. rock painting no. 367). he is sassy to the max and will tell you things exactly as he finds them. and he does NOT mess around when it comes to his dog. 

cheol, most of all, is the ultimate dog dad -- just like holt. cheddar is to holt like kkuma is to cheol. he spoils his dog, and he is proud of it. he’s someone who caters to the learning style that each person needs: stricter but with jokes for jake (hoshi), encouraging for rosa (woozi), detailed with a binder and written formalities for amy (seungkwan), and with actions (ref. the croque monsieur) for charles (dk). he’s attentive, thoughful, and silly at heart.

“gross, rosa! those are our dads! i mean, that’s not what i think. captain dad is just my boss. never mind, i’m teaching father the math. whatever, rosa!” 

super badass, but also a teacher’s pet, know it all, and scrapbooking expert. may come off as super uptight or a buzzkill, but genuinely cares about the other detectives on the squad. when you have hella big aspirations, it’s not that unreasonable to see why competitiveness, sharpness, and intellect are his best traits. under all of the work-oriented personality, there’s someone who is ambitious, thoughtful, clever, and protective of the people he loves. it’s hard to not be so uptight and to let loose (as opposed to some totally scheduled fun!), and don’t make fun of him if he sucks and is horrible at it. (title of his sex tape.) 

seungkwan was my top choice, mainly because of his competitiveness with hoshi (jake) as svt’s most famous frenemy pair. there’s a lot of responsibility and workload that seungkwan carries and continues to put on his shoulders, which his members love and appreciate (just how the squad appreciates and acknowledges amy’s dedication to being a detective). things can get wild and crazy sometimes, which is why seungkwan just needs to recharge sometimes.

“i got this low tag performance polo with moisture wicking technology. kept me dry all morning. and a dry boy is a smart boy.” 

if you’re looking for a supportive best friend who will always cheer you on, this is him. he’s a major foodie, he loves jake (hoshi), and his arch nemesis is sergeant peanut butter, who is a horse. he’s possessive and jealous almost as much as he is a superb friend, which is obvious by the way he instantly is suspicious of every other best friend jake (hoshi) can make in his life. (“don’t make any new best friends! haha… maybe you shouldn’t go…”) he gets jealous of many, like old beat cop partner stevie schillens, brian (?) from camp, and even cannibal jail cellmate caleb. also definitely dresses up as people from halloween that no one but him can understand. he is just someone that is the embodiment of living life according to his passions. very caring, thoughtful, and funny. 

dk was a good choice for boyle for me since he is super clingy and also is a supportive friend. even if he knows it’s silly or mischievous, he will play along. dk is relatively less prone to disgusting and gross sexual innuendos than charles, but is still super excited to share his jokes and hobbies. has a lot of holiday cheer and his down to be friends even after being turned down. 

det. rosa diaz 

woozi 

“plans are plans. i’m a badass, not an anarchist.” 

mysterious, a little scary, but reasonable and thoughtful. rosa is a character that’s easy to stereotype, though also arguably one of the more complex characters in this show. hard working is an understatement, and even though he may not be the most outwardly affectionate at first glance, rosa is super thoughtful. work comes first, but through the many trials and tribulations that life throws, business remains separate from personal… except the friendships. rosa went through the academy with jake (hoshi), so they’re really close. as much as jake jokes around and everything, they still trust each other and work with each other really well. (“diaz has been chuckin’ d-holes into my mouth since the academy.”) on top of that, is a bicon (bi icon). 

woozi was my go-to choice on this one. his demeaner seems a little intimidating (especially because of all his muscles now too!), but he means good. he gives off mysterious vibes, but he’s just figuring it out. now he is truly no-nonsense, and he makes sure others know this. he’s still down for the different personas and everything, but he lives his life by a strict set of rules. his neighbors think he’s emily goldfinch (woozi)… his coworkers think his name is rosa diaz (wooahae)… wait. what? 

sgt. terry jeffords

“terry loves yogurt.” 

literally just a big softie that looks scary/big/muscular but is actually so babygirl. he’s so caring and loves the squad to death, always making sure that they have all the resources they need to survive. even when other captains come and go, terry is always there. terry loves yogurt, terry loves love, and terry loves foreign films.  kind of has a rivalry with boyle (seungkwan) for strange reasons instigated by boyle himself, but is supportive nonetheless. (“hey, people like the way i look.” “sure they do, big guy.) he’s actually very well-educated (studied abroad in japan), is a great dad, and is always down to help others work out the right way.

this was such an obvious choice for me (with the only other option being cheol). mingyu is an inherently kindhearted person like terry, but also knows how to draw boundaries. he is someone who is worried about the safety of the people around him because he’s a family man, but also someone who loves to get down as vacation terry. also talks in the third person, but it’s okay since he’s hot.

the human form of the 100 emoji. would be the perfect human president, based upon his skillset, dance ability, and bloodlust. he is the paris of people. has been jake (hoshi)’s childhood friend and went through high school with him. cares enough to steer jake (hoshi) on the right track (ref. brandon bliss) but to also enable him in their own goofy shenanigans (the DDC + the lacroix siblings). super smart and well-versed in the people around him because only gina would suggest savant (vernon), the hacker, to become their new IT guy. iconic entrepreneur. 

i know that hao is super humble, and gina says that being humble is her best trait. despite this, there is no one else who would love to not be involved with all this police nonsense (bc gina “does not listen to a lot of things you all [the detectives] say”) but also be relevant. she’s actually very street-smart, great at comebacks, and the ceo of her own company that she literally just made up. 

dr. kevin cozner 

wonwoo  

“that’s the oompiest oomph you’ll get.” 

prim, proper, and unhinged. he loves raymond (cheol) but most of all, allows love to prevail. works as a classics professor at a university, spends a sabbatical in france to enrich his teaching experience, and loves a good croque monsieur. would absolutely go off on jake (hoshi) if he gatekept a nicolas cage movie that's a period piece set in greece based on some dumb book. despite his no-nonsense attitude sometimes, he is still down to dress like a pervert to go to the library with jake (hoshi). also, super badass because he runs over seamus murphy with a car. 

i was kind of going for wonwoo’s quieter but more serious and studious vibes. i think super knowledgeable, especially about gaming and editing, while kevin is knowledgeable about classics like boetheus and the odyssey. both are super smart, sassy, and protective people. 

doug judy

“i sold a guy a fake pekinese. twas a cat.” 

he’s in and he’s out! he is there for the vibes and the elaborate schemes. he will outsmart everyone in the NYPD and get away with it. one of jake (hoshi)’s best criminal friends but would still betray him every time. he would definitely lie and tell his family that he owns an architecture firm instead of being the pontiac bandit, and jake (hoshi) is his assistant mangy carl, whom he saved from a life of living on the streets selling his body. goofy and silly, but don’t underestimate him. you’ll always be one step behind him. 

i think jeonghan is definitely slick and goofy enough to be doug judy. above all else, jeonghan’s mind works harder than anyone else in mafia. just like how he immerses himself in different roles (and often makes them up) in don’t lie and bad clue, doug judy has transformed into many different roles in his life (cruise ship singer, architect, etc.) 

capt. jason stentley (CJ)

“okay muchachos, let’s roll up on these muchachos!” 

great start, and love the double use of muchachos, jun. became a captain due to his extreme luck. he is just always in the right place at the right time. showed up to his first day in grey sweatpants because he “totally biffed it” and spilled hot cocoa on himself. introduced himself as ‘captain stentley’ but didn’t like how formal that sounded. ‘captain jason’ wasn’t it either, so CJ was the move. numbers are so crazy, and overall so, very supportive. he just wants to help. 

i was just thinking of someone a little silly and laidback. will be strict if you ask him to, but he’s honestly more there for the vibes. he can be a little clumsy, but i was mainly just going for the slightly airheadedness vibes and the lovable nature. 

det. adrian pimento

“whoo… haha… hey chuck! it’s pimento.” 

just a little bit insane. it’s a side effect of being undercover for 12 years for jimmy “the butcher” figgis, but i digress. he sometimes still calls himself paul sneed due to being extremely traumatized. overall just a funny and great character. used to be boyle (dk)’s roommate and just found himself in his son’s closet at some point in time… got mistaken as a closet monster… just normal human things. (but he was also screaming with dk and his son.) has a very riveting, intense, and sexy relationship with rosa (woozi). 

this one was a little more of a stretch, but only because pimento is actually insane. all the years of ptsd has made him into a very strange person. josh is a little strange, and maybe he could be pimento if pimento was watered down into a lacroix. (like, the flavor is barely there.) there’s a distinct slight insanity that josh has (ref. gose episode the8 and the 12 shadows) that is hard to replicate.

“your only move is passing the ball to jeffords and running across the field.” “i’d like to see you try!” 

so done with the entire police department. will always be down for a rivalry or argument but genuinely a softie. just generally suspicious of jake (hoshi) and charles (dk) due to their antics and strong adherence to the rivalry. demands an apology because this is the fire department’s jurisdiction! all of that comes crumbling down though, when jake (hoshi) reveals his sad past with sal’s pizza…. but he still competes with jake (hoshi) on arresting the criminal in the end. some things never change.

i was honestly looking for someone who would love nothing more than to call out hoshi and dk on their BS and tomfoolery without enabling it and thought of dino. boone is a pretty lovable character for someone who is supposed to be a villain of some sorts, and it fits in pretty well with dino. plus, he’s the head of the fire department, kind of like how dino had to choose being the maknae of svt versus being the leader of a younger group. (kind of.)

okay i was genuinely very torn about who should be vernon, because i genuinely had a lot of different options. 

corey park (savant) 

hacked into a police precinct’s computer system just because he could. (he only exposed everyone’s search history.)  “it was like taking candy from a baby.” he was turned in by his mom, but fortunately now has a job -- courtesy of gina (hao). very intelligent and laid back

i saw vernon here because he definitely has a mischievous side. while his pranks and jokes are on the mild side, he’s definitely still a troublemaker. he’s down to work for the greater good. 

cheddar the dog  

“this isn’t cheddar, this is just some common bitch.” a very special someone. definitely is seungcheol and wonwoo’s child. loves wedding cake and is very well-behaved. extremely intelligent and loves participating in halloween heists. does not like being jake (hoshi)’s dog bra :// 

this was based on alice’s thread and was so funny. if cheddar were a human, vernon would be cheddar. the sass and intellect can only be matched by Thee hansol vernon chwe. 

other fun character pairings that i thought of: 

kkuma as cheddar the dog: two words -- so spoiled. also would be cheol (captain holt)’s baby. i digress. 

jun & dino as young hitchcock and scully: just two people motivated by helping the city. kind-hearted and brave people, who may or may not have gotten addicted to wing sluts while checking in on a witness that their captain screwed over by not putting in the witness protection program. outstanding people who became a lot more interesting, to say the least…. 

josh as madeline wuntsch: strangely tense relations with holt (cheol) due to their rivalry, but overall an outstanding cop. ½ of svt’s evil twins so you know he’s down for some evilness. oh raymond, i notice you haven’t done your time as a beat cop…. (if josh is here, who’s guarding hades???) may be a cheuksin, a korean toilet ghost who--

jun as mlepclaynos (the clay is silent): opens the door, is questioned by detectives, takes the picture of the suspect. he’s from neokrakagovia and celebrates dogs losing their virginity. jun definitely would! less because he’s weird and more so because he’s so kind and willing to go with the flow that it just happens. later says he’s not mlepnos. did you sell him horse blood? would you like to buy horse blood? he plays the violin beautifully. “guitar.” (ref. some day morning)

Putting aside the aspect of him being a dad, I really do believe that if he's a lover he'll be paying attention about everything even when it wasn't wanted or expected like I see him as the kind of person that would lift or tuck Chloe's hair strand if it got caught into a hoodie that she's wearing or remembers what kind of pasta she prefer the most if he goes grocery shopping (its penne btw). He notice every little detail about the people he loves to the point if he notices something's off he'll ask if everything's alright.

People dont care about me a lot irl and like I always be the one that gives but never be the one who takes so like whenever I think of him doing all those things for Chloe it just makes me feel better whenever im sad 🤧🤧🤧

16. Gush about your F/O’s cuddles!

He gives out the best hugs and like I love it whenever there's scenes of him just holding and hugging the girls so like I don't have doubts on this man's ability to cuddle. Lately I've been fantasizing about him sinking down lazily on the couch watching some old movie on TV while one of his arm wraps around a sleeping Chloe and his hand pats her slowly and soothingly. Lmaooooooooooo this is great, I love it. As horrifying as it is to consider the possibility that just being your own person might be considered treason under the Demon King, it does make for some very funny jokes.

Also thanks to this I am actively coming up with possible ideas for a “Five Times Meliodas Committed Treason and One Time He Didn’t,” which is probably going to turn out angstier than the title would suggest.

So far I’ve got:

A Robin Hood-esque situation where Elizabeth Number ?? is the Robin Hood figure and Meliodas is the sidekick supporting her and her band of merry men rogues in her quest to overthrow the king and save the common folk (featuring Meliodas getting captured and almost hung before Elizabeth saves him, both of them getting captured and actually hung, or both)

Literally Just Dishonored (basically: Meliodas as the bodyguard of an empress and her daughter (Elizabeth); empress gets assassinated, her daughter kidnapped, and Meliodas gets accused of treason and thrown in prison. Eventually he escapes and proceeds to rescue little Elizabeth, bring down the people responsible for everything (thus debatably committing actual treason), and restore Elizabeth to the throne. Or she dies again for some reason.

…She’s probably going to die in most of these, isn’t she.

At least there would be cute platonic Melizabeth feat: baby Elizabeth?)

The story of Diarmuid and Grainne but it’s Meliodas and Elizabeth instead (iirc: Diarmuid was one of the greatest of an ancient Irish king’s warriors, but was too beautiful for his own good, as the king’s fiancée, Grainne, fell in love with him. Diarmuid and Grainne run away for the sake of love and go into hiding, pursued by the rest of the king’s warriors. Grainne gets pregnant only for Diarmuid to die protecting her from a wild boar and also because his friend and leader of the king’s warriors refuses to betray his king by helping Diarmuid). I’m not entirely sure this counts as treason, but like. It could. Also not sure how I feel about Elizabeth getting pregnant prior to her curse getting broken. Or how to avoid this ending in a demon-goddess hybrid baby several centuries too early.

OOH WHAT ABOUT PIRATE MELIZABETH! Okay, so Meliodas is a ship captain turned privateer, tasked by the queen of such and such kingdom with fighting off pirates. Meliodas goes after the most famous one of them all, only to discover it’s Elizabeth! He then betrays the kingdom to join her. This probably also ends in both of them getting executed, just for piracy this time.

…Okay, I’ve actually checked the definition of treason now, and I don’t think the Diarmuid and Grainne idea would count as treason, but the other three probably would.

You know what would be really funny? The Sins/Zeldris/both somehow hearing all these stories about ancient traitors, figuring out that they were all Meliodas/Meliodas+Elizabeth, and just going up to him and going “What the fuck”

Felix knocked softly on the door to Bang Chan's room, careful to not wake up anyone else with the noise. He rocked impatiently on his heels as he waited for an answer.

"Lix?" Chan cracked open the door, rubbing his eyes. "Is something wrong?"

Felix swallowed before answering. "N-No. Can... I come in for a bit?"

Chan stepped to the side, making room for Felix to make his way in. Felix sat on Chan's bed with a huff. Chan joined him soon after.

Felix scrunched his face in embarrassment, both at the nickname and what he wanted to say. Chan and he had only started exploring their kinks with each other recently but Felix couldn't get them out of his head. Before he'd made his way here he'd just been laying in bed all night, thinking about what he'd have his boyfriend do to him if he was only brave enough to ask. "Um..." He cleared his throat. "Needy?" Chan whispered, placing his hand on Felix's cheek. "It's alright baby you can tell me."

Felix felt his face heat up. "Um, uh." He struggled to form a coherent thought with Chan's all-knowing eyes on him. So instead he gave a quick nod.

A smile curled on to Chan's face. "Good boy." He purred and pecked Felix on the cheek. Felix whimpered at the praise. "Tell me what you want, baby." He creeped his face closer and closer to Felix's.

Felix whined. "I dunno..." His head was already starting to get light and drifty. "I just want your attention."

"Aww, poor baby." Chan said, sickly sweet. "Poor sweet thing, can't even think he's so worked up."

"Stooop." Felix whined again. He gave Chan his very best puppy dog eyes.

Chan chuckled. "I'm sorry baby, you're just so cute when you're all fuzzy-brained." He leaned forward and gave Felix a quick kiss. And another. And another. Chan was right, Felix was getting fuzzy-brained. He could barely form sentences .

"Chan-hyung... Please." He squeaked.

Chan smiled fondly. "Do you want what we were doing a couple night's ago?"

Felix nodded. “Fine, but… only if we go slow, okay?”

"Of course, baby. I could never rush you." Chan cooed. He pulled Felix on to his lap like he weighed nothing. Felix tried not to melt. Chan tapped a finger against Felix's lips. Felix parted them gently, just enough to let Chan's finger slip in. Chan stroked his tongue softly, gathering some spit on his finger tip. He slipped another finger past Felix's lips and moved slowly towards the back of his mouth. Felix could feel his eyes start to water. He watched as a bead of spit rolled down Chan's palm and pooled into a crease on his wrist. Felix whimpered. He could see how enthralled Chan was by just watching the strings of spit as he moved his fingers around Felix's mouth. Chan pulled them out slowly and placed them in his own mouth.

Felix swallowed hard. He didn't think that would get to him as much as it did. "Shit..." he mumbled.

Chan sucked his fingers dry, or at least drier, then pulled them out. "Cute." He hummed. Before Felix could get embarrassed, Chan was already pressing another kiss to his lips. He kissed him again, his movements getting a little sloppy. His mouth started to open against Felix's. When Felix parted his lips in return he was instantly greeted by Chan's tongue in his mouth. Chan swished his tongue under Felix's, enjoying the minty taste of his toothpaste. Felix let out a small moan. He felt Chan smile against his mouth. He took Felix's bottom lip in between his teeth a tugged gently, making Felix moan again. Chan pressed one last firm kiss onto Felix's lips before pulling away.

A Mario Obsessed Person's Ramblings on the New Mario Movie Trailer

Here's my thoughts/analysis on the trailer! It's kinda long-winded...

Okay so off the bat let’s talk about the parts before the trailer itself.

The put a lot of praise on Anya (and imo it seems warranted); They seem very confident that she’s done super well with playing the character she’s supposed too in the right way (I know they did same some similar things about Chris Pratt but I think she’s definitely doing better.)

Seth’s bit had me rolling a bit because his entire segment is exactly what Chris Pratt wanted his to be; Seth talks about how he’s loved Nintendo for ages, but actually makes more obscure references (+ gets his facts right) and presenting actual evidence in the form of his (very cute) dog Zelda. Plus he doesn’t seem to hesitate nervously.

But, I digress, going into the actual trailer—

I’m loving this interpretation of where the original Donkey Kong games fit into the lore. It manages to harken back to the “stage play” of Mario Bros. 3, and gives a pretty good reason for how it all fits together.

I’m very curious about the larger setting. At first I thought it was Sarasaland (or maybe the temple from Origami King), but evidently it’s the kingdom Donkey Kong comes from (Donkey Kong’s Country?). Which, as far as I know, isn’t really a concept that’s been explored—we only know like, a couple dozen Kongs in total, but this shows a few hundred at least.

Is Cranky Kong the ruler of this kingdom? Or is he just preceding over the matches in the coliseum? I’m not as well versed in the DK side of Mario lore, but he’s usually just the parental figure in most games, right? He’s definitely never been the ruler.

Why are Mario, Peach, and Toad (evidently the three-man band of the movie) here? Is this some kind of negotiation? Mario puts on a show for the citizens and then he’ll provide them with something they’re after?

Pauline is shown in one of the posters, I wonder if she’s somehow still connected to DK in some way?

Moving onto the Next scene—assumably this is inside Bowser’s Moving Castle we are familiar with from the first trailer.

I find it interesting that Koopa’s are the main troop shown—it’s not a weird pick, but I expected more Goombas than the eight (I counted) total shown in this shot. But I do appreciate the diversity of troops shown regardless; Koopas, Red Koopas, Paratroopas, Goombas + a Goomba stack, Buzzy Beetles, Swoops, Spinys, Priahnah Plants, Bob-Ombs, Sledge Bros, and Shy Guys, and even a Snifit! 

Also a big fan of all the personality in this shot—The animation style really works.

I’m not gonna make this about Bowuigi I swear

I’m loving the characterization we’re getting here.

Luigi’s still his generally nervous self, but I appreciate that he seems to be holding it together better than he does in some of the games. He’s going along with listening to Bowser’s monologue and trying to avoid saying anything that would upset him. 

Bowser’s motivations surprise me a bit just because it doesn’t seem to be related to kidnapping Peach at all—and, as we see, she definitely isn’t kidnapped (seems like Luigi is filling the damsel role instead). He just wants to rule the world. Pretty stereotypical for a movie, and not a new thing for Bowser by any means, but still interesting none the less that they didn’t go the classic mario route.

I assume the magic around Luigi is Kamek’s doing—the blue and pink color scheme and the fact that Kamek isone of the only major magic users at Bowser’s disposal (and the only one we know is in the movie thus far).

Bowser seems to think being a human (not a Homo Nintendonius or whatever) is significant enough that it’s part of the reason for why Mario and Luigi should know each other, so wherever this is, it’s likely not somewhere on Earth, or at least our Earth. So what does that mean for Peach? She’s human, right? How’d she get here?

I love every Toad in this shot! Their bowties are so cute. There are Peach’s advisor’s right?

Unsurprisingly, with how inconsistent Mario geography is, this looks like no existing world map from any of the games. Though that doesn’t mean there’s nothing of note!

We’ve got most of what looks like a classic set of world themes here;

Lava/Bowser’s Kingdom at the top. Not much to make out other than the grounded Castle that on the north side.

The Snow Kingdom, where the penguins were. Now taking on more of a Bowser-fitting appearance, only recognizable from the small sliver left open and the shape of the now-burnt castle. Is that actually what that kingdom looks like now? Bowser really left a mark.

The jungle kingdom. It looks like Bowser’s headed that way next. That temple looks very significant—the head looks like it could be a Koopa… or a Yoshi? Maybe that’s the new iteration of Yoshi’s Island? There’s only really on brief shot that shows anything that could be there, and it does only have Yoshis in it, so...

The one to the right of the mushroom Kingdom looks like the athletic/sky themed location. This one does get shown later, I’m pretty sure, in the scene with the Cheep Cheep near the end. Not much else to say.

Lastly, the Mushroom Kingdom. We all know the Mushroom Kingdom. Peach’s castle looks pretty standard, though the huge water feature behind it stands out quite a bit. The Mushroom Kingdom also seems quite sizable compared to the other kingdoms as well.

Notably, there seems to be a lack of space for a “Water Level” themed kingdom, unless the beach on the Jungle kingdom is meant to be that?

Is it a controversial take that I like Peach’s design a lot? It’s obviously re-stylized for the movie, but it still pretty close to looking like her! That’s her jumpsuit from the Kart games, right? Or at least something pretty close to it?

The paintings in the background obviously give 64 vibes, though I doubt they’ll be used in that way… maybe?

All the shots of the interior of Peach’s castle are very pretty, too. Love the color scheme a lot.

Toad’s weapon of choice being a frying pan is very funny. I wonder if they’ll give a reasoning for why this specific toad is relevant/unique.

The toads are wonderfully expressive! I’m falling in love with the animation style very fast. (Also look at the Green one’s face. Look at it.)

This. Is. So. Cool. It such a fun concept.

I wonder if they’ll bother to explain the whole “how does everything float” thing or if that’s just gonna be a part of the world.

This shot is also just really pretty. All of the location design is very faithful to the series, and manages to find a pretty damn good middle ground between all of the games without it seeming disjointed.

The gag in this scene is very Illumination-esque, but I’m not mad about it. At least it’s not toilet humor.

That courtyard is so pretty! It does kinda beg the question how anyone gets up or down from there easily, but that’s probably just a floating platform thing.

Toad Town (or at least, I assume it's Toad Town because it's in front of Peach's Castle) being up the front of the cliff is a very fun design for it too.

I couldn’t get a good shot of it, but the undersides of the mushrooms remind me of Super Show! which is not something I expected to get reminded of in this trailer.

Obsessed with this design. They kept the shape but managed to actually make it look like a flower instead of a plastic toy. Is that a whole field of them in the background? Are they native to a specific place?

That’s her 3D World fire flower design for sure. The transformation using the fire effect is very cool.

“There’s a huge universe out there. With a lot of galaxy. They’re all counting on us.” There’s no way this isn’t a reference to Galaxy. Is Bowser’s plan large-scale? The flying castle kinda fits with that, but Bowser’s castle being able to float isn’t exactly exclusive to that series.

It’s the bois!!!! Look at them!!!

Where is this?!?!?! It doesn’t really look like anything I’ve ever seen in a Mario title, except maybe Bowser’s Kingdom in Odyssey, but that’s clearly not what it is.

The ‘tubes’ look very similar to Kamek’s magic from earlier…

The fact that this is shown during the “Whole Universe” quote does feel like it’s significant too.

DK joins them at some point. Was that why they were competing in the first scene?

As far as I can tell with all the Kart-focused shots, all the other riders are also Kongs. I was hoping I’d be able to spot some other cameos, but unfortunately not.

Final Thoughts

First, I’ve gotta quickly address Mario’s voice, and… I honestly hate it less than I did in the first trailer? I think? Maybe I’m just getting used to it. It kinda doesn’t even sound like Chris Pratt in some of the scenes, plus we do get some more classic Mario lines (“Wahoo!” and “Let’s’a Go!”). He’s far more expressive than he was in the first trailer.

Obviously, it’s still not quite Mario, but in the context of the other voices, it honestly kinda fits. (I’d still rather it not be Chris Pratt at all, of course, but I’m starting to think the clips they gave of his lines in the first trailer we’re just unfortunate choices.)

Past that, I honestly think this looks super good. The small references, all the details, it all gives me faith that Shigeru managed to shake something good out of Illumination. It really does seem like they’ve put a whole lot of care into making the story interesting without it just being the Standard Mario Package™, especially with the bits and pieces from various games (Classic Donkey Kong’s level design, Karts from Mario Kart, etc… there’s even a shot with the turn-blocks that replace bricks in Super Mario World!). The animation, the voice acting, it all seems amazing.

6. what's the first thing you notice about other people?

i would love to say personality or something like that, but it's very hard not to notice looks and body language first when you see someone irl. online it's probably more vibes, as cliche as that may sound.

greenish7hazel i guess? although depending on lighting they do sometimes appear almost blue or yellow-toned.

8. scary movies or happy endings?

always happy endings. i can't watch scary movies i will be scared to even breathe for days.

9. any special talents?

not that i know of? i can decipher morse code and tie a squareknot (that's what google says it's called in english) on my back, with my eyes closed? does that count?

my interests does shift often but i guess writing, reading, making gifs, crocheting, watching anime? so forth.

12. do you have any pets?

yes. i have a cat named mochi. i also have a dog from a previous relationship that lives with my parents now. she's a german shepherd and her name is ahri.

13. how tall are you?

around 173cms. i have no idea what that is in inches or whatever it's called thoguh.

14. fav subject in school?

i always loved danish. which is probably what english is those who have that as their mother tongue. later on i learned to love english and history. oh and chemersty. loved that too!

15. dream job?

i don't actually know. never had a dream like that which is definitely biting me in the ass now when i'm actually working and don't know what to do with my life.
