god there's so many i love! but if you're looking for a completed multi chapter that has all the things (sweet boys, marge and period typical homophobia angst) i really really loved this

i think it's very sweet when people are for lack of a better word "delicate" with marge's place in clegan fics, and esp love the reoccuring trope of making her queer too- so much so that's kinda what i've been thinking for her arch in my young vets au. *but* i also love stories like this that veer a little more period accurate re: how she might feel about things. the whole plot line with her friend and the church here was also just really clicked for me as a girl who grew up in the southern baptist church myself. very very accurate telling of that specific small town church culture and how it festers. 10/10. (@whichcouldmeannothing hi <3)

and while we're on the topic this is another really great fic that writes marjorie as more complicated. no spoilers for those that haven't read it, but i literally gasped out loud when That happened. and tbfh i'd even say gale earned that lmao. women's stories matter!!! i vote that whoever wrote this has a radio rebel reveal here on tumblr so we can all yap about this amazing amazing story.

Since this Is the last part/book of the Fanfiction i wanted to ask if u would be 'retelling' the whole series like if u would have to rewrite the whole season (cuz that would be SO MUCH WORK ITS CRAZY😭) or if u will like stop at some point of thr 'og timeline' bcuz from there on its almost thr same as the original (ex: aang's final battlr w ozai or the last agni kai of Zuko n Azula)

“I warned you Roman, time and time again, and yet you refused to hear me through that vexatious veil of stupid self-confidence of yours. Casting a spell that you’ve only half translated is dangerous. And now look at the mess you’ve caused!” Logan shook his head angrily as he lectured Logan, his eyes flashing with anger behind his glasses. “And now I suppose you’re going to ask me to clean this up?”

“No!” Roman protested, jumping to his feet. The sudden movement activated the invisible “rope” between them, and the demon was yanked forward, stumbling away from the wall with a muttered swear. Roman sucked in a deep, annoyed breath. “...yes,” he admitted, after a moment of silence.

Logan pinched the bridge of his nose, setting his cup down on the table. “Why am I even friends with you?” he asked as he turned and walked back up the stairs, presumably to grab one of his many books.

“... because you love me?” Roman offered, and was met with charged, angry silence. He sighed dramatically, falling back down into his chair and running a hand through his hair. Patton smiled sympathetically, his eyebrows furrowed.

“Don’t worry, kiddo, I’m sure Lo will think of something! You’ll both be back home in no time.” With that, he turned to the demon lingering in the corner of the sitting room. The demon’s face was dark as he worried the hem of his tattered cloak, glancing between Patton and Roman as though afraid either might attack.

But Patton wasn’t one for attacking. “Hello! I’m Patton, but you can call me Pat. What’s your name?”

There was a moment of awkward silence, thick enough that Roman wouldn’t have been able to cut it with the sharpest of swords. The demon glanced around himself, as though wondering if Patton was even talking to him.

“It’s… I…” He floundered uncertainly, his face scrunched up like he was unused to being treated with kindness. Roman watched the scene play out with one eyebrow raised, glancing between Patton and the demon, the corner of his mouth quirking up into an amused smile.

“Pat, it’s a demon. You don’t have to be nice to it,” Roman pointed out flippantly. Patton gasped, offended, and fixed Roman with his patented Dad Glare.

“Roman! I’m surprised at you! Everyone deserves kindness.” He held his glare for a moment longer before turning to smile warmly at the demon in the corner, who was looking very conflicted, his eyes wide and his mouth hanging open in a little ‘o’ of surprise. He fidgeted with his hands, lowering his gaze.

“You… uh… you can call me Anxiety,” the demon — Anxiety — said, his tone quiet. Roman scoffed at the unusual name and Anxiety glared, his wings shifting beneath his cloak.

“Well, it’s nice to meet you, Anxiety. And I’m sure —” Patton shot another look at Roman. “— that Roman feels the same. Right, kiddo?”

“Uh. Yes, it’s absolutely grand to meet you.” He rolled his eyes, leaning back in his seat, his voice practically dripping with sarcasm.

“It’s… ni — uh, okay meeting you too.” Anxiety paused, regarding Roman with narrowed eyes. “Well, most of you.”

Roman gasped, offended, as Logan walked back into the room, struggling under the weight of a heavy, dusty tome bound in ancient-looking dragon skin. He dropped it on the table with a dramatic flourish that Roman would have been proud of, had he not feared the answer he knew he was about to get.

“This particular kind of magic is incredibly rare,” he began, adjusting his glasses as he sat and flipped open the book. A cloud of dust puffed up as he turned the pages, and Roman rubbed at his nose absentmindedly as he leaned closer. “You’re lucky I was even able to find something on it. It’s especially dangerous as well, lucky for you.”

He landed on a worn page scribbled with runes and met Roman’s eyes. “From what you described, I believe that what you have enacted is… a Bloodbond.”

“A Bloodbond?” Roman wracked his brain, trying to remember if that was the name of the spell in the story he’d heard so long ago. Meanwhile, the demon paled, his eyes going wide.

“It’s… we’re…” He seemed to know what was going on, and judging by the look on his face, Roman had been right all along. His stomach dropped. “Our souls are linked.”

“Yes, that’s exactly right,” Logan said, regarding the demon with interest. “I assume you were both injured when the spell went out of your control?”

“How do you know it went out of my control?” Roman asked, offended. “You can’t just… assume…” Logan shot him an annoyed look and he caved, rolling his eyes with a dramatic huff. “Ugh, fine. Yes, I was injured, but I healed myself!”

His arm twinged in pain, and he could practically feel Logan eyeing the obvious wound on his leg. He winced, averting his gaze. “...mostly.”

“What about you?” Logan returned his gaze to the demon. “Were you injured enough to bleed?”

Anxiety said nothing, merely shifting his cloak aside to reveal a long cut spanning the length of his forearm, stark red against the pale white of his skin. Roman’s blood ran cold; the demon’s injury was identical to the wound on his own arm. And he had been limping earlier, too, which meant…

“That confirms it.” Logan nodded to himself as red-hot regret seeped, unbidden, into the pit of Roman’s stomach. He opened his mouth to speak, but Patton stood before he could, ignoring Logan’s inquisitive look and approaching the demon. His eyebrows were drawn together in worry, his mouth turned down in a concerned frown.

Anxiety’s eyes widened and he took quick steps backward, yanking his injured arm back beneath his cloak and baring his teeth in a cornered snarl.

“Show me your arm, kiddo,” Patton said softly. “I won’t hurt you, I promise! Obviously Roman —” He paused to shoot another Dad Look at Roman, who was feeling quite attacked on all fronts. “— wasn’t planning on healing you, and I might not be a mage, but I know a thing or two about healing!”

“But —” Anxiety, for his part, seemed just as shocked as the rest of them at Patton’s kind boldness. There was a moment of charged silence — an argument between eyes; soft and gentle browns chipping away at the guarded uncertainty hidden in the deep purples — and then slowly, stiffly, the demon held out his bleeding arm.

Roman felt the pain in his own arm disappear as Patton quickly finished the healing charm, plopping back down on the couch with a satisfied sigh. “That better, kiddo?” he asked, and the demon nodded stiffly, his face carefully blank. “Good! Okay, honey-bee, you can continue,” he said to Logan.

“Ah. Right. Um…” Logan blinked, glancing at Patton and then at Anxiety as he composed himself. “The explosion of magic brought on by your inability to complete such a half-assed spell —”

“Hey!”

“ — must have injured you both. Thus, your blood was mixed within the spell. Upon summoning… Anxiety… your souls were linked because of this. That is why you cannot walk away from each other without being tugged back together, and why Anxiety cannot return to his home realm. As of now, you are soulmates.”

“How the hell do we fix it?” Anxiety asked, his eyes narrowed as he shot Roman a scathing look that the prince was only too happy to return. “I don’t want to spend any more time around this idiot.”

“Well good, because I would rather die than have to spend any more time around you!”

“That can be arranged.”

“Are you threatening me?”

Logan slammed the book shut with a deafening bang, sending dust flying and stopping the argument in its tracks. “We cannot fix anything,” he said, glaring at both of them in turn, like an angry mother would glare at bickering children. “This kind of magic is nearly impossible to reverse without the correct resources. And, of course, the correct abilities, which I believe you’ve already proved you possess none of.”

“How dare you?” Roman gasped, clutching a hand to his chest as Anxiety snickered. Logan readjusted his glasses and continued, ignoring Roman’s Offended Prince Noises.

“In fact, the only person that I know of who might be able to undo this calamity is the Royal Mage, and, if I’m being honest, I’m not entirely sure he’d even know how. This magic is incredibly ancient.”

“But you know about it!” Roman said, his stomach churning with regret, his hands clenching into fists. “Couldn’t you undo it?”

“Roman, I am not a mage. I am simply a bookworm.” He got to his feet and hefted the heavy book back into his arms with a grunt. “Oh, and when you get to the capital city, would you mind collecting my notebooks from my old room?”

And that was when it hit Roman like a ton of bricks. He had to go to the capital. He swallowed, hard, trying to hide how his hands began to shake. If his mistakes were kept confined to this small village, known only to those he trusted, then it would have been fine — but to travel to the capital city would be to reveal his stupidity to his kingdom.

It would be to reveal his stupidity to his father.

“I… yes, I suppose I can do that.” He took a breath; he would not show this weakness in front of the demon. But the demon seemed to be in the same boat; his breathing was quick, his hands shaking beneath his cloak, his wings shifting nervously. It was then that Roman realized: they were fearing the same thing.

King Odin, his father.

King Odin, the demon-slayer.

He shook his head, narrowing his eyes. No. It wasn’t the same. They weren’t the same. “Who knows?” he began, pushing his uncertainty down and shooting a glare at the demon. “Maybe he’ll die on the way there and I just won’t have to deal with it anymore!”

Anxiety snarled, his face darkening. “Trust me, your highness, if anyone dies on this little trip, it won’t be me.”

“Actually, you’re both wrong,” Logan said, pausing on his way up the stairs. “There is… one more aspect to a Bloodbond, a particularly dangerous trait. If one of you dies… so does the other. Your souls are linked, after all. So if anyone dies on your ‘little trip,’ you’ll both end up dead. You need to be careful.”

Patton gasped and the demon growled and Roman breathed deeply, trying to ignore the horrible feeling in his heart. Princes don’t get scared, he told himself silently. Princes don’t get scared.

“Great. Wonderful. Aren’t you glad you’re such a screw-up, princey?” Anxiety said angrily, nose twitching in rage and worry. Roman glared back, a thousand angry retorts dying on his tongue.

The demon was right.

“Now, now, c’mon. No fighting.” Patton got to his feet and Agatha jumped to attention, barking once happily as she curled around his legs. Roman and Anxiety glared but stayed silent, and Patton smiled, nodding. “Now, you’re both staying here tonight, okay? And I don’t want any arguments from either of you. I… I don’t trust you enough to leave you alone together.”

“That hurts, Pat,” Roman said, only half-joking. Anxiety remained silent, glaring at the ground. Patton shrugged, absentmindedly running his hand along Agatha’s soft fur.

“I hope you both like stew!” he said by way of farewell, offering them both one last smile before retreating to the inn’s kitchen, Agatha on his heels. Logan nodded sharply to each of them in turn before retreating up the stairs, heavy book in hand.

Roman regarded the demon, his heart pounding an angry mantra of unbidden regret.

Your fault your fault your fault —

“I… suppose…” He stopped, took a breath, and the words got stuck in his throat and refused to budge. He cleared his throat, glaring at the floor. “I suppose I… should… ugh! Alright, it was not very… prince-like… of me to get you caught up in all of this. So, I… I apologize for any inconvenience I may have brought.”

There! He’d said it. At least now he could rest easy, his conscience appeased. Patton would be proud of him.

Anxiety raised an eyebrow, looking him up-and-down. “Save it, princey. Don’t like just to appease your stupid human ‘conscience’ or whatever.” He turned towards the window and ignored Roman’s half-hearted attempts at denial. Roman let out a long, angry sigh, glaring at the demon’s turned back.

This was going to be a very long trip.

adha is very religiously strict and thinks altaïr is a godless pig uhm. ok… making adha rude is very uncalled for you couldve chose to use a random woman like…. a stranger but no it had to be canon altaïrs dead ex… and altaïr says ‘i dont know much about islam’ i dont understand why some fanfic authors insist on making altaïr completely atheist, i feel like altaïr wouldn’t be religious tbfh but hed still have islamic norms and values. when we can write characters in a way the original source material doesnt why cant we include cultural and religious aspects? why do ppl try so hard to remove the fundamental aspects of islamic culture. altaïr not knowing islam just drags the story more because if he did then hed understand adha and like idk hed connect with malik more and adhas anger would be justified but here she is being an ass and assuming the worst because…? she could’ve just called him an asshole idk why she dragged religion into this its reminding me of strict religious ppl who hate the new generation so far there hasn’t really been much about the good things of islam

im not gonna comment on any more incest its obvious this author just has a thing for it and theres so many fics that have incest and if i was to really fight that id do it for the other fics too also i wont comment on their writing as a whole anymore the main issue here is the cultural erasure and fetishisation

these do not affect the plot in any way shape or form, yes its an old 2014 fanfic but the author seems to not give a fuck that theyve written gross things. as well as poorly write islamic characters, it feels like a ‘youre either religious or your not’ and writing things like this is harmful! youre telling readers that muslims are either very harsh (like adha was) or very sweet (like maliks mum for being okay that maliks gay) but what about the catholic side of the family? theres no indication that they’re homophobia stems from religion. also ppl think its okay to just make altaïr unaware of his own heritage and faith? yes hes not muslim per say but hes syrian? his father died young but you can choose to write about the family wanting to help altaïr keep his customs alive. its white. its so white. it makes me more upset that the author will only focus on us disliking incest rather than accept that they’re wrong for cultural erasure. youve told hs that he’s syrian and white but just added that he misses his dad. and u cant defend sexualising kadar at all i wont hear anything about that because what u enjoy in fiction is also a reflection of what you enjoy irl. if you think incest is cool you will have a natural interest of it irl theres a reflection of your interests in your writing. if for example i wrote angst you would naturally expect that i like it or have a connection to it in some way, that i enjoy somehow. but i dont really like angst i could write for it but thats from my experience and thought process. someone who writes smut doesnt mean that they’re sexually active but theyve thought about it, they might’ve done some research to it. do u see what im tryna say? you are actively advancing on your interests when you right about them in fiction, you have a connection to it. if you hated smut someone would assume you hated it irl. the logic applies here too, if you dont like incest irl and it grosses you would simply not read incest in fiction because it grosses you out. if you dont like cultural erasure and sexualising minors irl then why tf would u add it to ur fic? why would u think that the boundary fiction would allow that to be okay? and the thing is micro-aggressions back in 2014 were bad and i know that but the author having had feedback and not even acknowledging it in this day and age is disgusting. ppl say they like sass verse, i have to say the plot of it is interesting but there were so many unnecessary aspects that did not contribute or feel nice to read at all. even if someone uses the excuse that they didnt know smth about islam, i as brown muslim you can not dismiss my feelings towards the way they wrote any muslim characters.

hi sarah!! I finished the grisha trilogy about a week ago and it’s been such a struggle to search up s&b without risking having to see people drag mal through filth so thank you for existing 😭 I liked the series (mostly I just ended up really loving mal and alina both separately and together) though I can’t help but feel like LB really missed with some of the writing/plot points (the darkling’s motivations were especially confusing to me). She’d sometimes add in things that served no purpose whereas when the story could’ve benefitted from a few more sentences just to get a clearer sense of what alina was feeling, there was none. It makes me think that mal probably would’ve been a more well-liked character if the writing was just better (or if the books had dual perspectives instead maybe) What do you think?

Firstly - welcome to the pain of loving Mal TRUST ME IT IS BETTER THAN IT WAS YEARS AGO but you just gotta 'pretend you do not see it' to stay sane tbfh... and secondly, I agree with you tbh anon! What we have to bear in mind is that TGT was Leigh's first book, and then second and third book. They were the books that were her debut series, and thus there definitely were mistakes in them at times, and little statements that you thought were going somewhere that didn't. She was still growing as an author (though I still maintain that as a debut S&B is fantastic, and for me there still is no Grishaverse book that floors me in the same way R&R does).

When it comes to Mal being more liked in the fandom, I don't think it was Leigh's writing (because I think he did come across well, I understood what he was doing when he wasn't being 'perfect' - is called being human and having a human reaction to things - because Mal fundamentally isn't written to be perfect and that's the point). But I do think TGT being written in third person, with some Mal chapters, would have benefitted the story A Lot. And I mean, that's why in the show we actually see his story - because it's far more powerful to show it in its entirety instead of just having bits dropped here and there in dialogue. We see it in his letter, but too many people can't be bothered to read it. Mal is a character you need to actually use reading comprehension to understand, and by only seeing through Alina's eyes, people often can't be bothered to weigh up bias etc etc.

But I mean Leigh herself has said she'll never write in first person again, she likes writing in third because of the depth you can go into and the number of characters you can fully flesh out the emotions of - and she's never said she regrets writing TGT in first person, but I think it's clear that she wishes she had written it in third. Hence in the show we see Mal's story. It's telling the story Leigh wishes she had told, and thus show!Mal absolutely is book!Mal (THE NUMBER OF DIRECT BOOK QUOTES HE HAS) but we just see his storyline. That's the difference. And suddenly, he's become much more liked in the fandom. So this is a convoluted way of saying that yes, Mal absolutely would have benefitted SO MUCH from TGT being written in third person. I still adore seeing him through Alina's eyes though, and how her love for him basically bleeds through every single page of the trilogy.

I’m gonna have to say Comfy for this one. Some of my earlier, shorter fics might’ve taken less time because a) they’re shorter and b) I wasn’t as meticulous with editing, but I don’t remember exactly how much time I spent writing them, and I also had to spend time coming up with a basic idea for the plot. Comfy, though? The idea just popped into my head as I was falling asleep and I got up and started writing it almost immediately. 3 hours writing, 1 hour editing, and it was posted the same day I came up with the idea.

Also The Phantom of The Musical - it’s 91k words long, and 112k if you include The Musical Archives, which is a collection of side stories and deleted scenes from the main fic (that by itself is my second longest fic).

Scott glared at Tony. “Does that really matter right now?”

“It always matters,” Tony replied, pulling the driver’s door open.

Wisely, Scott decided that the matter wasn’t worth having another argument over, though he kept glaring at Tony even after he sat down in the front seat. He had a little more difficulty getting his door open than Tony did; whatever energy blast that got the car into this condition probably jammed the door. After a few sharp yanks on the handle, Scott finally succeeded in opening the rear door. He looked into the backseat and swore.

“Shit. There’s a kid in here!”

I would not put it past these people to make it that Richie liked Bev the whole time, and that's why he was not as nice to her in chapter 1.

However, if they no homo this, they are going to get so much fucking heat. Maybe some people will think this won't have anything to do with it, but Tyrus just went canon. Literally everything with LGBT+ subtext will now be under that critical eye with the expectations of following through. And okay, yeah, the homophobes/indifferent hets can and will overlook it, but hey there are too many of us to let it go quietly. So many people will make it into a huge deal. Especially if there is a fuck ton more subtext/obvious content (like I truly believe there will be) supporting Eddie + Richie. My sister also pointed out that having this Reddie relationship become canon would wrap up the movie well with the Adrian Mellon content we are also getting. Which, let's be honest, I think a lot of us are still surprised is being kept in this movie. I seriously thought they would pull something else and do everything they could to not have the Adrian Mellon stuff.

So tbfh, if that letter is anything other than an E, that's bad/lazy writing with no follow through, because literally nothing else makes sense.

Most of their missions tend to be over at the mansion WHICH MIGHT THEY ADD IS A GOOD FINE HOUR AND A HALF AWAY. JOSH, YOU EVIL LITTLE SHIT.

Their week is spent trying to uncover the mysteries of luxborne mansion while trying to convince their friends that yes, they are alive, please calm the fuck down. Well no theyre technically dead BUT THATS NOT THE POINT, BEAT, WE CAN STILL HEAR YOU TALKING SHIT ABOUT US GODDAMMIT STOP CONVERSING AS IF WE ARENT IN THE ROOM.

The drama over the isabella/ashton/rebecca thing is never there bc??? Neku??? Sho/Uzuki??? Rhyme??? Never going to fit.

Instead sanae thinks this neku person might be good for joshua so he constantly, CONSTANTLY tries to set them up which drives neku up the wall. My spicy boi cant seem to catcha break, can he?

Shiki is kiterally the most chill person on earth and is okay with this. She gets into debates with neku about the advantages of living in the UG never having to pay wages for living, because effectively, they are DEAD. They dont NEED to pay taxes.

Luxborne turns into a fashion craze when the two mentioned above combine forces, force Neku to run errands and make a lot of luxborne local brands popular.

Luxborne UG operates differently from Shibuya. Im putting the headcanon that every area with a UG operates with its own sets of rules, systems, and mechanics

So like, luxbornes game is a race. U have to complete the most missions before ur granted a pass, hence why theres only one pair winner. Missions arent just in the mail, theyre probably the little detours too, but none of the players are told this.

Because shiki (and with some persuasion from neku) is gung-ho about it, they end up being the winners of the game EVEN THOUGH THEY WERENT BEING SERIOUS. No one has ever made joshua laugh as hard as these two have. He asks them if they want to revive as humans or if they want to ascend to reaperhood.

Hey! I really love Bloodsport and it's exciting to see a figure skating au, so first off, thank you so much for all your hard work writing and drawing it!!! The drawings are gorgeous btw. I was wondering what your fancasts for the skaters were since you mentioned Mikhail Kolyada for Andrew. I think you might have put it somewhere before??? but I can't seem to find it so I'd thought I'd ask. I was just watching his short program from the 2017 Cup of China, which is so amazing.

Hey hey hey! thank you so much!!!!!!! that means a lot to me! Bloodsport is literally my baby. I was just sitting and writing Cracker Dust, then quickly hopped back to BS to fucking write chapter 8. I’m pathetically in love with this world lol!!!! 

So my fancasts!!!! okay. So, I had a long post detailing why I chose the skaters to pair with the characters. Unfortunately, that was deleted when my account was. However, heres a short summary!

Mikhail Kolyada IS my Andrew as a skater. And omfg. His short program from the 2017 Cup of China is literally the EXACT REASON WHY I MADE THAT DECISION. I am literally making that Andrew’s short lol! For many reasons, which will become more clear as the fic goes on. 

Nathan Chen is my Neil - for many reasons. As a skater, he’s both impressive and inconsistent. You can see his growth from just this year, to the last. When he jumps he may have a wonky landing, but he fucking holds on. And that is very much how I see Neil. Pushing the boundaries and climbing in the ranks. He’s still very much a young skater and it shows. but I literally cannot find anyone more perfect to fit Neil than Nathan. Also, his program Nemesis is my fucking everything and it is Neil’s short. 

Yuzuru Hanyu is Riko - fucking obviously. I mean, I dont think there should be much explanation for that. He’s polished, he’s experienced, his technique is stunning, but he still has his slip ups. I know many dont think him and Nathan can compare, but I honestly think those that believe so are sorely mistaken. Nathan may be inconsistant, his artistry may lack, but their styles are VERY different and I’m sorry, but Nathan’s spins rival that of Patrick Chan’s imo. Anyway, back to Yuzuru. He’s also quite cocky lol. So I think in many ways, he’s perfect for Riko (in the sense of skating and on ice presence). 

Javier Fernandez as Kevin. What a fun fucking skater. I’m not saying that kevin isnt fun - but like. He’s not. However, I cant find anyone to fit Kevin better than Javier. At first, i was going to point him towards Evan Lysacek

Patrick Chan as Jean Moreau. I think it fits perfectly tbfh. Gorgeous skater, fluid, amazing presence, subdued, it fits. 

The shibsibs for dan and matt. I mean, I know they're siblings and obviously, because of that, their dances are different. However, they have an energy that i LOVE. Also I mean, come on.  

Karen Chen is my Renee. Small, spunky, subdued, out of this fucking world. She also choreographs a lot of her programs. 

Allison and Seth I’ve always had a hard time thinking of. If anyone has any ideas, let me know! For now, I have them as Tatiana Volosozhar and Maxim Trankov but that is subject to change. I also want to find someone that would match Allison as a single skater very well. because in bloodsport, she was a single lady before she teamed with seth after an injury. So, any ideas shoot em at me!

Nicky is Adam Rippon - the entire reason why I even started this fucking fic, deadass. Like?! Do I need to explain?!?!?!?!???!? NO. I DONT. 

That’s all I have so far! OH I ALSO HAVE JEREMY AS KEEGAN MESSING! because come. the fuck. ON OF COURSE I DO. I still have to think of Alvarez and Laila, but yeah! Hope this helps and if anyone has suggestions, send em my way!
