My think piece (lol, I am looking into it 🔍):
Like...I sorta get the dynamic. Because it seems like despite being friends all of them are pretty lonely themselves. Y/N is sort of like a shard that kind of breaks the normalcy for them, so they kind of reject her in that sense. It easier to cling to coldness when its all you've known, warmth seems too scary. Maybe Satoru sees that and thinks he needs to hold them up in a way (not disrupt their normalcy), so enages in the way they like: the shots at Y/N, playing that game to act like Y/N doesn't mean much. Nice got them killed as you mentioned, being treated like weapons from a time when they needed to be nurtured. So maybe Y/N reminds them how hardened they have become, so they cling to the status quo of their loneliness in the friendship. Its like seeing how much more happy Satoru is but needing the reasurance that ‘You're still like us, she'll never get you because she hasn't been treated as disposable like we have, we have the same experiences you are better off with us, we only had each other, so it has to be the same'
Its not Y/N's respponsibility to heal them, but being open to her as a friend would do wonders for them. I just don't get Utahime posting that, it was mean. All of them were very mean. Utahime's reasoning seems like the same thing, she doesn't love Satoru but its that thing about familarity. Y/N's the other one, shining light on the ice in her friend group, the message may not be ‘He still likes me and wants me more' but may be more so ‘We're all fine, you didn't change him, or take him away from us, he's still our friend, with the same blood on his hands, the same fate as us as weapons, its okay, we'll all stick together'
But it would be nice to see it all addressed, because that video was like the final blow, she saw them post it, saw him laugh at the digs, the little jope she had shattered. Its necessary to hash out that instance. Love and friendship does help with wound and scars, both for Satoru and his little group.
Even the most simplest smaus show a lot things. You did an amazing job. Eager for part 3 (I hope you do it, give like a proper ending, I would hope a happy one, it would take him time given the extent to which it hurt).
OMG thank you so much, anon, for taking the time and dropping such an insightful ask, makes me ooey gooey inside knowing some of y'all liked my Smaus enough to put so much thought into it
As for your take of the post, it's almost exactly what I was going for, but I didn't want to make the post longer than it is right now, so I couldn't write all that in.
I think the friendgroup treats reader so horribly is because they never saw her as a permanent fixture to the group in first place, and they're assholes in general, all of them, including Satoru. Satoru doesn't stand up for reader when his friends mock her because (a) he's not sure how to display the "boyfriend" version of him in front of the friendgroup and (b) he tries to convince himself, and reader that they're mocking her as an extension of mocking him, which they actually do, the group is also very mean to each other in general
As for the reason utahime and shoko bully reader is because they think Satoru's gone soft (weak)
Ever since she came into their lives, and that makes them mad enough to extra hard on reader. They don't find it to be wrong, and they enjoy the reactions reader has to their bullying, as well as putting Satoru in that position, because they think Satoru is being a wimp if he wants to protect reader's feelings.
It's not just the girls that are mean to reader. Suguru and Nanami aren't particularly nice to her either, but they're also not invested enough to target her at every given opportunity. They're toxic to each other & horrible. All of them.
Satoru had 2 years to resolve his issues, to establish boundaries within his friends' group and treat reader with the dignity she deserved, but he failed to prioritise his relationship, and chose to be passive and evasive to avoid confrontation of any sort, even at the expense of his partner.
It's not readers responsibility to try to fix a man who doesn't truly want to change. Even if he does alter his priorities to appease reader, it won't be right, because he'd be doing that to hold onto the sanctuary reader provides him with, and not because he finds his current behaviour problematic.
With all that being said, I don't think a reconciliation is on the table for these two :(

How would the yanderes react to reader having super bad anxiety?
-😶‍🌫️anon
I didn't know if you wanted generic yandere subtypes, or specific characters, so I just chose a few of my favorite OCs!
Listed from (arguably) best yandere to worst (when it comes to dealing with anxiety) Some NSFW towards the bottom ❤️
Kirtch (10/10) expert
❤️ Knows all about anxiety (he is an expert an humans)
✨ Might seem a little cold, but that's because he will go into immediate nerd doctor mode
❤️ He would prefer to solve your anxiety issues without the use of the collar
✨ So expect a lot of pampering and note taking, presenting you with different solutions he's read about in outdated psychiatry books while watching you diligently
❤️ Baths with snacks and deep breathing exercises
✨ Would neglect his duties for you, and when you eventually look to be doing better, he's baby monitoring your room so he can leave work the moment you look like you need him <3
Lydia (9/10) too clingy
❤️ Undead, weighted blanket
✨ She doesn't understand what "anxiety" is, but knows it makes you look sad? Scared?
❤️ She doesn't like it, and it makes her mad that she can't kill it for you
✨ Since you won't tell her how to fix it, she keeps you inside the apartment
❤️ Expect a lot of kisses, everywhere
✨ The second it looks like you're hyperventilating, she's wrapped around your torso like a monkey, squeezing you as tightly as she can
❤️ She'll whisper words of love and affirmation into your ear as she constrains you, until you finally calm down
✨ Even after you calm down she'll still cling to you, murmuring (more to herself) about how sweet and lovely you are
Baby (7/10) what anxiety?
❤️ The second there was even a flash of adrenaline, that weird tingle that races down your spine, before your heart even starts to speed up: Baby would shut it down
✨ What anxiety?
❤️ He's literally controlling your mind at every second
✨ You don't need to worry; about anything
❤️ Unlike Kirtch who hesitates to use the collar, Baby has no issues manipulating your brain's chemistry
✨ And he sees nothing wrong with it, because it's all for keeping you happy <3
❤️ Of course, it'd make Baby a little upset that the anxiety showed up at all..
✨ But he can fix it
❤️ So don't worry <3
Cain (5/10) short fuse
❤️ His emotions (although oft hidden) always takes precedence over yours
✨ He understands what anxiety is, but because he's the type to kidnap his darling, he assumes the anxiety is his fault
❤️ and that pisses him off
✨ Assumes every and any negative emotion you feel is because of him, even if it's something you were diagnosed with long before the abduction
❤️ If he is feeling remorseful he may shift into a giant lynx to cuddle, trying to soothe you with his giant warm body
✨ If he's already upset he may respond in one of two ways:
❤️ Leaving you alone for hours to go hunting
✨ Fucking you into submission (if you're too exhausted to cry, that means he won, right?)
Xyleth (0/10) either the best or the worst...
❤️ It depends on if you need a distraction or if you're the type to need a calm environment
✨ Because his species doesn't experience anxiety, they'll treat you how they treat one of their own when they are feeling blue
❤️ And they only feel blue after losing a fight
✨ Xyleth would parade you around the village (even while shaking, hyperventilating, crying, hitting him..) so that everyone can "cheer you up"
❤️ Everyone would be passing around their favorite little human, petting your head and trying to gift you with weapons and meat
✨ Children would be offering to find you animals to kill
❤️ It would be overwhelming
✨ An entire community of monsters trying to cheer up their leader's mate, genuinely out of love
❤️ If receiving words of encouragement, affirmations (about your strength), and food help your anxiety, then Xyleth is 10/10
✨ If you need a quiet room with someone helping you with deep breathing and grounding, he's a -100/10
Now, honestly, a good chunk of the guys would not be good at all for anxiety, they don't even rate out of ten haha
Some of them are sadistic enough to purposefully try and trigger panic attacks when they learn you have anxiety, like the Living Death. Now, he's a pervert, but I feel like he would enjoy your anxiety because he could feel more in control of you; it would help him isolate you further. If he could manipulate you into never leaving his cabin, he'd be the happiest man on the seven seas
But some guys like Dr. Campbell would enjoy seeing you crumple before him for more nefarious reasons. I can imagine him mocking his darling as he fucks them, telling them how much he loves it when they act hysterical because they clench him so good. He's a complete sadist who would get turned on the second he knew he was the one causing his love anxiety. There would never be even a second of comfort for you in his home, Ichabod would do everything in his power to keep you on edge all the time.
And finally, my lovely bedbug monster ❤️ he definitely cares about you, but only in a primal sense. You are his mate, you shall carry his spawn, and you shall stay at his side. He wouldn't understand what anxiety is, since he keeps you in a constant state of pain and fear. Yeah, he may be cuddling your side, but you're never not covered in blood; and not all of it is your own. If you're struggling, it's no different than when he's tearing into your abdomen to pump children direction into your body ❤️
I hope your day is going well, and if you suffer from anxiety, I hope that your days are stress free, and that you're able to have a good week without anything triggering you ❤️ Sometimes, I get a random shake, a random rush of anxiety even when absolutely nothing has happened, so I know you can't avoid triggers all the time, sometimes anxiety just happens, but regardless, I hope that you can enjoy today anxiety free ❤️

I think one thing about siat I personally relate to is how Draco loves his parents despite their racism. All too often I hear people say cut the racists out of your life, but that's really hard when its your parents and your entire extended family who you love dearly. Do I call them out on their prejudices? Yes, of course, but cutting them out is not going to change their minds but maybe me sticking around to show them a different perspective will.
ah. well. i'm glad you liked it and you found things that resonated with you!
i am obviously saying absolutely nothing about your parents, because fictional situations do not at all map against real situations, and i know absolutely nothing about your family and your experiences. and "stay with you family and help change their minds" is actually the advice of several activists!
however
draco did cut his family out of his life
he and lucius get in a big screaming fight after the world cup about their family and draco becoming a death eater and lucius being one and he stops talking to his parents for a whole year. he refuses to go home for the holidays and would rather NOT being published in the charms review than break his silence with his parents to get their permission. he does send them christmas gifts, because he does still love them, but that's it
until he runs back to the manor to save lucius's life, because obviously he doesn't want his father to die, but that's not the thing that bridges the gap between them
it's lucius refusing to kill harry and nearly getting himself killed because of it
and lucius does have a little bit of conscious here, because harry's his son's age and all he's done the past year is think about his son, but that's not why he doesn't kill him. lucius malfoy is not a good person. in the second year he doesn't lose any sleep over all the muggleborn children he's almost killed but is devastated at the idea that he could have harmed his son. he doesn't kill harry because he wants draco to be proud of him, to love him, and he worries that if he does this thing then maybe he won't and the idea of losing his son's affection is worse to him than gaining voldemort's ire
narcissa is sort of go with the flow, in a way that makes her a bit of a psychopath. she'll play the game on either side, will kill whoever she needs to kill, and not care much either way. she cares about her family. she doesn't care about who dies at the end of her wand
draco tells lucius not to get caught again, even if it means doing terrible things, because now that voldemort's back they don't have much of a choice if they want to live - which is a very different situation than they were in after the world cup. and lucius knows that draco feels differently and supports him and does everything he can to protect him
and then, when it comes to a head, he betrays voldemort outright and fights voldemort wandless because draco is in danger
none of this makes him less of a bigot
lucius doesn't really change his mind about anything. he still doesn't care for muggles or monsters or freaks, but he's a slytherin to his core, and he certainly doesn't mind winning, regardless of who he's doing it with
draco does the equivalent of holding his breath to get his parents to change sides. and it works
narcissa and lucius are not good people. they are flighty and ambitious and fought on the wrong side of the war and switched only because their son gained a moral compass and their stance is family first. if draco can't be swayed, then they must be the ones to change
and it's fiction! so that means we love them. in real life we'd be dragging them to guillotine, but it's not real life, it's a fun little fanfic, so real life rules don't apply, and being good parents who love their son more than anything makes up for being sort of insane serial killers

Guilty Gear hugs tier list. These listings can be debated if you want, but I'm going to post this, sign out, and go for a walk before it rains.
Reasoning:
BEST ==
Dizzy: Come on, look at her. Hugs like a best friend you haven't seen in years.
Elphelt: Might be kinda awkward if there's a snowball's chance in hell she thinks she could marry you but otherwise it's a damn good hug.
Jack-O': I'm biased. Hugs like it's the last time she'll ever see you.
Goldlewis: Like being hugged by a grizzly bear. Pats your back. 10/10
Sin: Kid puts his whole heart into everything he does. No way he hugs bad.
Axl: Good at hugging because it really just might be the last time he ever sees you.
Sol: He won't hug you. However, consider: warm, big arms, big chest. If Sol hugs you then the Earth is about to explode and he doesn't want to go out feeling alone.
GREAT ==
May: She's kinda bubbly (pun) and bubbly girls hug good.
Ky: Has rehearsed hugging. Knows the precise amount of time to hug for and how hard to hug but it still feels genuine.
Bridget: Don't have an explanation for this, just think she'd be good at hugs.
Izuna: Hugs like the cool uncle that let you take a sip of his bourbon when you were a teen. Pats your back.
Kliff: Dad hugs. Almost crushes your ribs but there's love in it.
Potemkin: Man's heart's full of love. He's careful not to kill you.
Chipp: Don't think Chipp hugs very frequently because he's a president and he's got an image to maintain, but I think he'd hug like everyone was his friend even if he just met them.
GOOD ==
Jam: Maybe a little too friendly for a hug with a stranger, like she hugs for just a bit too long and it starts getting kinda weird. She didn't mean anything weird by it though.
Zappa: It all depends on how involved S'Ko gets. There might be insects. Decent despite all that.
Slayer: I just don't think he'd hug anyone better than he hugs Sharon. A formal hug.
Leo: Tries too hard to hug well and doesn't quite make it.
Nagoriyuki: Could be killer at hugging if he had more opportunities to. A little out of practice from how long he was sealed in that thing.
Answer: Extremely formal and quick. He's got things to do.
Testament: Out of practice like with Nago. They're getting better though and at least whatever they put in their hair smells nice.
OKAY ==
Anji: If he hugs you, he's probably hitting on you. Depends entirely on how you'd feel about that. If he hugs you and he doesn't like you, I think it'd be a just barely acceptable hug.
Johnny: Saves his best hugs for hot women and his adopted daughters. It's a little awkward, like he doesn't really want to be hugging someone.
Faust: The image here is Strive Faust and I think Strive Faust would hug not great because he's really going through it in Strive and he just needs a moment. Xrd Faust would be up in GOOD or GREAT tier though.
Paradigm: Either you gotta squat down awkwardly to hug him or he's gotta climb up onto a table. Hugs in a professional manner, but the logistics of it make it difficult.
Bedman: Is asleep. Is strapped to a giant bed.
Ram: She's still learning. It's a cold hug because she's not sure how you're supposed to do it yet.
Giovanna: Doesn't want to hug and would rather be doing anything else.
Asuka: He was alright at hugging in 2015 but now it's 2187 and he's forgotten. The experience is uncomfortable for both parties.
Venom: Unless you're Zato, it's a quick and distant hug.
Raven: Would probably hug decently if he was in a serious mood, but odds are he's gonna make it bad weird.
BAD!! ==
Millia: She's had a rough life and also does not want to hug. A hug that makes you fear for your life and be grateful when the hug's over.
Justice: She's dead. Before that she wanted to destroy humanity. You can hug Justice but only once, and you better be fast.
Baiken: You might get stabbed. I can't imagine a scenario where she'd willingly hug anyone that wasn't Delilah.
I-No: Will just straight up kill you. Has never had a reason to hug someone before and might make it horny-weird if she's in a good mood and doesn't kill you first.
Robo-Ky: Assuming Crow programmed him to hug like Flesh Ky, it would still be like hugging a pile of sharp metal. If you're a woman he's going to say something uncomfortable.
Baldhead: Man's really going through it!! Going through it like no man's gone before!! Odds are looking like you'll get murdered.
ABA: Doesn't know what a hug is. Smells like rotting blood and flesh.
Order Sol: Sol at possibly his lowest point. Reeks like hair grease, body odor, and rotting blood. 48% chance you'll get Savage Fang'd, 48% chance you'll get Tyrant Rave'd, 4% chance he rips your heart out with his bare hand.
Valentine: She just stands there and doesn't hug back. Asks questions about hugs, hugging techniques, the meaning of hugs, the history of hugs, and what purpose they serve for as long as you're willing to bullshit answers.
Haehyun: The little human inside the robot is alright at hugging, but the robot itself will probably crush your bones.
Happy Chaos: He's going to do something really friggin weird for shits n giggles and you're going to regret it.
Zato: He's just shit at hugging. Dude died and came back wrong.

Last post got be thinking about that silly trope where a hitman/assassin/murderer has to suddenly take care of a kid and all the shenanigans involved with trying to be nice/preserve their innocence despite the fact that they... You know... Kill people for a living.
Anyway thoughts about OCs and suddenly having to take care of a kid?
it's been on my mind, I had to make a small post to feed the worms eating my brain.
I think Jasper would be trying to preserve any innocence he could, he loves kids, he wants the world to be good for them for as long as possible. His childhood was ruined early but that doesn't mean he wants anyone else's to be broken apart either.
Lee would have tired dad energy the entire time, but he'd still love them and be sure they're safe and eating correctly. "Do your work yet? Did you brush your teeth and shower? Alright then, come here, let me show you some neat science experiments"
Grey would be a bit awkward, as he's terrified he might accidentally hurt them, he doesn't want to turn out like the family he barely remembers. So he'll chill with them, play games, try to be a good role model, but he feels like someone else would be better qualified
Dexter would be over the moon and wouldn't be capable of leaving them alone. He's always so proud of anything they make, if its a stick drawing he says it's better than Vincent and Picasso. Major Proud Dad Energy
Ezrol would be indifferent in the beginning. Annoyed and not wanting anything to do with the brat. But slowly he lets his heart melt and starts giving into small things such as silly cartoons or weird art projects they wanted to try. He acts like he threw away the "junk" but it's very clearly kept in his room on his dresser or wall. Always checks in on them as they grow up, wanting to cry like an actual parent as time passes because "They grow up so fast"
August is the cookie cutter perfect dad who makes sure to use manners, be polite, be kind, and clean up. He'll have his more strict moments sometimes, but he's a real loving father figure who wants to be sure the kid is happy healthy and knows they're safe and loved no matter what. Also a really good cook at BBQs. Wears the "best dad" aprons all the time.
CEO would be the spoiling type, but only after you've earned it so to speak. If you do your work you'll be rewarded. Might also really love wearing the dad outfits they pick out to match. I'm talking atrociously colored and doesn't even match but it's their outfit choice for him, so to him it's a great fashion statement.
Victoria is used to handing care off to nanny's and what not, but she'd try. She's so business oriented the CEO would love to hire her. she's a more strict mother figure, but it's so the kid can get ahead in life when they can. Thinks kids are gross personally but isn't going to be a bitch if asked to house and care for one, she'll just take a while to warm up and be a good influence is all.

A Spa Day with them
Cannibal, Trickster, Spirit
Cannibal
Spa day?
What's that?
He has no idea what a spa is.
Explain it in the simplest of terms and call it a 'self care' day.
Go into a little more detail on what you mean, then he'll start to understand.
Bubba will try and paint your nails, but he's kind of shaky, so some might end up on your skin.
He'll quickly try to rub it off, only to smear it more.
He'll be blubbering apologies.
Don't let him get too worked up about it.
He'll really enjoy doing different face masks.
Especially any that require someone to slather it on.
So he puts it on your face while you put it on his.
Bubba is super ticklish, so he'll probably be a little squirmy and giggly.
He won't actually take his mask off, but the effects should still work on skin that belonged to another human, right?
Probably doesn't work like that, but he's having fun.
Aromatherapy is also something new to him.
He isn't super fond of fruity sweet smells, but he enjoys more earthy scents.
It reminds him of home.
He often gets so relaxed, that he falls asleep on your lap.
He never gets these peaceful moments.
Feeling pretty and snuggling with you.
What more could he want?
Trickster
Spa day?
Um, yes please.
You don't even have to get anything.
Ji-Woon has a huge box full of high-quality products that he uses.
He is going to elevate you to a whole new experience.
"This is what they do at the spas I go to."
He'll say as he hands you a fancy drink and starts to paint your nails.
Although he usually got his nails done by other people, he prefers doing it himself.
And it won't just be a solid color.
You will get the most breathtaking patterns that could ever be done.
You can offer to paint his nails, but he really enjoys doing his own.
But he'll let you do his right hand since he has a harder time with that one.
After, he's picking out face masks and body scrubs, describing in great detail what each of them do.
He will even show you how to apply them.
And you better believe this man has a huge array of candles.
Any scent you can think of, he has it.
He isn't picky either. He'll like whatever one you choose.
While letting the masks and scrubs sit, he'll indulge you in gossip.
"Yun-Jin is so scared of bugs. Like, one time she took one of my knives just to kill this little beetle. And she crushed it. She can be so over dramatic."
It's days like this that make living in the realm so much more bearable.
Especially since he got to do it with you.
Spirit
Oh she's totally down for that!
Trials can be so stressful, this sounds like a great way to unwind.
First, she'll bring out all her incense.
Pick any one you'd like.
Personally, Rin loves any flowery scents.
Once those get burning, she'll get some of her nail polish.
She only has a few colors, but you two make it work.
It's also super easy to paint her nails.
Since her arms are kind of detached and all.
Cooler colors like purples and blues are her favorite.
She's surprisingly good at painting your nails.
She has very steady hands, probably from all those years of practicing kendo.
Her masks are the home-made type.
All natural, no chemicals.
Those are so much better more you.
And making the masks with you just makes it way more special
She'll always find ways to add fruits to any scrubs or masks she makes.
So, when you're both done, you'll smell amazing.
Lots of giggles and jokes.
This had to have been the most relaxed she had been in years.
She'll be begging for this to turn into a regular thing.
But she'll only do it if you do it with her.

In an Everyone Lives scenario, what majors/career paths do you think all the Hacketteers would end up in? Obviously we have animation for Ryan and physics for Dylan suggested in the game but so many people end up changing their majors anyway, I wonder if the experience would lead them on different paths than they’d originally intended.
thank you for making me think about this, it's one thing i've been putting off but i also think about all the time
so right off the top of my head, i think about Max's major a lot & i end up tossing two things around - law school or childcare/teaching. he seems like a level-headed guy, he breaks down situations in pieces until he understand them ("You remember when I said, 'whoa, look at the moon. it's so big and bright and- it's so cool to see a full moon' and you said "yeah no shit, Max, it happens once a month'?"), & also.... we've all seen his outfit in the 50s pack. but i still come back to childcare bc i grew up working in childcare & he just seems the type for it. maybe he got rejected from Landis for law & pursues childcare or teaching at a smaller school instead & ends up one of those teachers that everyone wants to get on their schedule
Laura, the love of my life, the breath in my lungs, is such a headstrong badass that she prolly still pursues her vet degree, altho i can see her minoring/taking a few psychology classes to coach her & Max thru the rough times
Abi definitely finds her way to art school, i just don't see her changing that. i do think she expands from just sketching & gets into different mediums - pottery, possibly sculpting, using charcoal and paint - bc i think she'd find it calming to work with her hands, cover her skin in anything but red, & she'd lean into it for stress relief
uhh Nick is so complicated sometimes that predicting what the absolute FOOL (affectionate) is going to do is impossible. i want to say culinary school but if i'm being honest, i think he would end up dropping out & just working at restaurant. i don't say this bc i hate him, i say this bc he's a clown. (also i may or may not have done the same thing, minus the culinary part) or maybe he becomes a forest ranger & spends time alone in his ranger tower listening to the forest
Jacob i whole-heartedly believe goes for coaching/athletics or something, but he joins the college sports team (prolly football or maybe hockey) & that's the path he ends up following. he definitely has to get a tutor
i think Emma maybe pursues marketing/advertising or something of the sort, but i also think she def starts loading up her schedule. volunteer work? no worries, she can run it. student council? sure, she'll apply. you know, lacrosse sounds rlly fun all of a sudden, she should join the team! & she kills, obvi. if she never thinks about it, it never happened. if she never has time to think, she can never think about it
Kaitlyn.... she's the one i've been thinking about the most. she's such an odd character bc we see so much of her & yet i still feel like we don't know anything about her. her entire character is kind of just "im mean, i know first aid & i can shoot" & then we love her bc she's a badass. which i don't mind but it makes it kind of hard to make theories on her future. i imagine she IS one who ends up switching her major. she prolly starts with what she had planned - maybe an english degree? - but then switches bc hackett's quarry changed her & she'll never stop thinking about it. i like to think maybe she ends up in enviromentalism, or possibly on the nursing track. something to occupy her mind
Ryan & Dylan honestly seem rlly well suited for their majors so i don't know of i can imagine them doing something else. i do think Ryan starts taking self-defense class & prolly makes Sarah go with him just to be sure she knows. just in case. Dylan takes a part-time job at either the school's radio station or a local one, & if he DID drop out, he would 100% start a podcast. all those fanfics are canon
this was rlly fun to think about even tho i'm not sure how accurate they are - i would love to hear other ideas! thank you for the ask :)

Hi there, i would love to know your opinion about the Nimona movie compared to the comic? What they did worse or better? And which you liked better overall. ❤️
UhuhUHU okidoki here I go. Fair warning I might be off because I haven't rewatched the movie or reread the comic yet.
The comic is pretty similar regarding the broad strokes of the story, but entirely different in the moral of the story? And the themes are different as well. It's aimed at young adults/adults, while the movie is aimed at kids. There's blood and the characters aren't as pure or righteous, and the ending isn't as forgiving. But honestly, it surprised me how similar the two were, and I legit don't think I prefer either version. While there are stuff I prefer in both, both of them accomplish what they set out to do, as two totally separate things. SO I'm separating the comparisons into three categories: Neutral, Movie did it better, and Comic did it better.
Neutral:
In the comic, Ballister has been the city's villain for quite some time, and he embraces the role while still following a moral code.
Nimona kills a lot of people and he can't stop her. She is supposed to be his sidekick, but in truth, he's the one running after her and excusing her actions. I liked the aspect of "Nimona is really really not good but Ballister loves her too much to accept it" that culminates in Ballister betraying his ideals and killing someone!
Goldenloin is Ballister's nemesis, and gleefully accepts the role - he mocks him, engages in banter, and is a prick. He isn't the born-to-be-golden-child he is in the movie - in fact, as a child he used to lie to everyone that his family was important, and was bullied mercilessly for it. He shot off Ballister's arm out of jealousy!! Because Ballister was better!!!! And the scene where he realizes he has never apologized - HOW cool is that!!!!!
In the finale, Nimona is split in half, one part of her turning into a raging monster destroying the city while the other is living through her worst memories, stuck in her child form. Ballister and Goldenloin join forces to stop her, but Goldenloin wants to kill her while Ballister just wants to subdue her powers long enough to talk her down. This means he is forced to betray Nimona, but stuck between the two people he cares the most for in this world, what else was he supposed to do!! The moment he breaks down after spending the entirety of the book all rational and stoic and cold... Waaaaaah what a good heartbreak.
At the end, Goldenloin adn Ballister are considered the heroes who saved the city, and Nimona is forgotten. She's still alive, though - she still visits Ballister one last time in another person's form so he doesn't realize it's her until it's too late, and he finishes the story wondering if she'll ever be back and know he wanted to be her friend. What a cute bittersweet ending!! Loved it!!!
Movie did it better:
The comic doesn't have the societal order commentary that I really loved in the movie. I loved how the knights are basically useless, a higher class who contribute nothing but entertainment to society, which you can only enter if you're born into it. The queen decides that the class should be expanded and regular people should be able to earn the right to join it, and she is killed for it. Her idea wasn't even that revolutionary!!! She wasn't questioning its right to exist, which would have been the truly controversial way of thinking!!! And it was enough to get her dead!!! In the comic, the knights are mostly orphans anyway, a glorified police force more than the rich celebrities they are in the movie.
Parts of Goldenloin and Ballister's relationship hit harder in the movie. I prefer the "cut off his arm as an instinct because his instincts went against his heart" story from the movie. I loved how he kept seeing Ballister as a victim. I loved the tortured love.
Nimona is way more sympathetic. The comic's explanation for her personality is that she was lied to and experimented on when she was a kid, but that's as far as it goes. We are supposed to accept her as she is, and that is a really cool story, but I just really really like the way the movie flipped it into "Nimona is actually peaceful and kind, she is vilified for not staying silent when abused".
Surprisingly, the suicide angle is not present in the comic!!! That was ADDED into the kiddie version!! That heartbreaking scene with the sword and the heart isn't there, and neither is the friendship backstory, which was some of my fav stuff. I too kept asking myself how could Nimona stand to be immortal, and the movie is like. She can't. She wants to die rather than be alone. But by the end of the movie she decides to live, symbolically turning into a phoenix. Like wow thanks I'm gonna go cry in the corner now
While Ballister's innocence sometimes grated on my nerves, I enjoyed the warmer, newer-to-societal-revolution Ballister more than the experienced terrorist from the comic. The aspect of Ballister accusing Nimona of trying to turn him to her morals because she wants him to be as evil and as much of a monster as her so she wouldn't be alone!!!! Bro OUCH
The arrow scene!! It was amazing in the comic too, but I really liked the awkwardness of the movie ahhahahah
Comic did it better:
The humor!!! I enjoyed the humor of the comic so much!!! Probably because it was written with my age in mind instead of the kids, but also ND Stevenson is just really funny in that deadpan "art student writing comics" way.
Goldenloin's name. Why is that man still named Goldenloin in the movie. It is hilarious in the comic esp with his design but the movie.... WHY
While I sorely miss the "I wouldn't die, it just wouldn't be living" line, I do have to say I prefer the subtler version of explaining themes because that's just the way I roll fdjbskabjaks
Over the course of the story, Ballister finds out there is a way to put a temporary lock on Nimona's powers, keeping her stuck in one form. And in the finale, he uses it thinking it could help talk Nimona down (as opposed to Goldenloin's idea of killing her). He keeps her stuck in one form, which is something that seems entirely reasonable at the time, and when she learns it was him who has done it, she turns away from him entirely. This is SUCH a good concept and while I have no idea how it could fit into the movie, I do have to say it's a better betrayal
The battles of Ballister VS Goldenloin are much better. Less standing and clashing swords and more kicking and throwing each other out of stuff.
The board games scene. It was way funnier with how Ballister plays Nimona's game and also starts saying stupid stuff. Excellent.
Nimona's immortality is better established, and there is no overdramatic "is she dead or not" - we find out she lives right away after she "dies". I'm really impressed with how nicely it was laid down, as someone who doesn't like death fakeouts, as it is difficult to do such an ending. The drama comes from the question of whether she will let Ballister back into her life. I feel like the movie would profit from establishing her immortality better, especially since they also introducted that she can kill herself if she wishes to. Ouch my heart.

Sissy Slaughter W/ an S/O Who Has Sleep Issues!
A/n- This feels like such a throwback?? I remember writing several sets like this at the start of the blog! <:O Like, all the way back to 2021 I think? Maybe earlier, actually! Hope you all enjoy! I love you all & please stay safe out there! 💗💗💗
Warning for: mentions of pot use, poisoning / knocking someone out??? but it's like. done for sweet nice purposes?, Drayton cameo at the end !!
taglist: @friedwormeater @0ddmia @royalsnowxoxo @lambofjudgement @lizve @urfavsuh @strawberry-moonpies (let me know if you want to be added or removed!! <3333)
I swear I've said this somewhere before- but sissy grows & smokes her own pot <333
I'm not saying she'll suggest that as an option but I'm saying she'll suggest it as an option
If your sleep is more than just cumbersome for you- if it's affecting you physically (beyond exhaustion), affecting your ability to complete chores, etc - she may need to bring out the big guns
She knows what plants are toxic, what plants can kill and torture She also knows ones for healing !! (side thought: she uses this mostly on herself & bubba. She acts like a pain when anyone sides her youngest brother wants her for her useful abilities) And most important in this case- ones that can knock folks out !! <333 with minimal to no damage done to them She only uses plants to knock you out when you're at your worst point. When you haven't slept for days, and your eyes are irritated and red. When you're in pain all over and can barely stand up. You might not always appreciate this method- but it can work wonders <333
On some nights, when it's particularly rough for you, she'll stay up with ya <333 keep you company.
You don't deserve to go through this, especially not by yourself. Despite her poisoned personality, she can be a real sweetie around her favorite folks <33 (you bein one of em :3) Do you get nightmares? Is that the root of your sleepy time troubles? She'll sit up in bed and pull you close to her. Let you lay down with your head in her lap as she touches your hair and quietly sings. Lulls you into a safe, cozy slumber- or at the very least, calms your mind. A few times she's taken you outside to walk along the property . . . She shows you critters that come out at night, takes you closer to where she has the makeshift greenhouse set up- tells you about all the plants she's been caring for, what their uses are, let's you engage on the topic too, even if you don't know as much as her. Anything outdoorsy that she can do to tire you out, in hopes if you're sleepier you might sleep better.
Sissy has far more experience and knowledge than her siblings do, in regards to life outside the farm that is- but even she can be at a loss of ideas.
If she's really worried she might go to Drayton, ask if he knows what's wrong with you. (he grumbles throughout the entire process, things like "never should have taken them in", and "more trouble than they're worth" he mostly doesn't mean that <33 you're part of the family now so :) ) It's almost like you're a strange pet that she's keeping, because of how alien your issues can feel to her and the rest of the family. In general though !!!! All of the youngest siblings will ask Drayton about the things they don't understand, even if he isn't very knowledgeable on it either. Even if they don't get along with him much (which . . . Who does get along with him lmao)
"They seem sick," Sissy muses. She's sitting at the dining table, your body lying limp on the floor, propped up against her legs. Your head held safely in her lap. She had knocked you out with a non-lethal poison, despite your protests against it.
The poison could be helpful in getting you unconscious, but Sissy hated using it so frequently on you, especially since it doesn't appear to solve the root problem.
You're still having trouble falling or even staying asleep, she's worried about you.
"Should've gotten rid of it when we had the chance."
"C'mon, you've got to know something about this, Drayton. Ya better haven't given my little darlin' something they can't have."
Your head lolls against her lap, your ears slowly perking up with the noise. Your chest tickles with a funny, loving feeling. Your heart beats slow, quicker as you wake. Your girlfriend was so sweet to you.
She talks to her oldest brother like he's given the dog chocolate. She's concerned and trying to be patient, despite her immense dislike of him.
She runs her hands, soothingly, down your back. Noticing her sweetheart is beginning to wake.
"Oh, why don't we look at that. All this is waking up my poor thing." She glares at him, unintrigued, upset with him. She looks back to you, your head following the noise and your eyes unlocking, staring back at her with such an intensity. Lids hardly-half open. She pets your hair, hoping you'll just pass out or be quiet or something.
Sissy huffs. "Fine! We'll just figure it out on our own. You hear that, darlin'?"
She smiles at you, so sweetly. Looks at you like you're the only thing in the room. Like you're precious and irreplaceable- which you are, to her. Your smile gleams and your eyes sparkle when you look at her.
She whispers to you, helping you off the floor. "We'll figure this out, don't you worry."
Hey, I didn't say he would actually be helpful. just that they would ask lol

Well, Enid was split from Wednesday for years in the bodyguard AU (I believe a decade?) so she spent years just feeling time get past her.
"Ticking away the moments that make up a dull day, fritter and waste the hours in an offhand way."
Enid most likely spent a lot of time just thinking of Wednesday, all their moments and time together; so much time and energy that her days became a bit more dull. All her thoughts are consuming her, but she can't just stop working. She has to spend time offhandedly, thinking.
"Kicking around on a piece of ground in your hometown, waiting for someone or something to show you the way."
Enid could maybe go back to San Francisco for awhile, go back not to her family, but the places she grew up, just for a moment to feel a sense of familiarity, consistency.
And I feel it's to fair think that she'd push herself in relationships she isn't ready for, or are obviously unhealthy to begin with. Sometimes it feels better to be hurt by someone who's there than someone who stole your heart and left with it.
"Tired of lying in the sunshine, staying home to watch the rain."
Enid seems like the type to get agoraphobic after Nevermore. The sun seems worse after Wednesday leaves. Rain is something Wednesday liked, always seemed a little happier (as happy as would express, anyways) when it rained.
Enid won't go out into it, but she can still admire it.
"You are young and life is long, and there is time to kill today."
I feel like Yoko would say something to this effect; she understands that Wednesday left a mark on Enid's heart that she'll never get rid of, but that doesn't mean she should just sit inside and mope. Have fun with your friends; the pain won't stop, but you can dull it, even if only slightly.
"And then one day you find, ten years have got behind you."
This one feels pretty self-explanatory; one day it just slams into her chest, the fact that she's lost so much time to just thinking of Wednesday.
"No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun."
Imagine spending so much of your teen years loving and yearning for the touch and experience of just one person, and one day you're just an adult and people expect you to know and do things. Imagine having to sit in your lonely apartment, realizing you missed out on so much time with people because you couldn't let go.
"And you run, and you run to catch with the sun— but it's sinking, racing around to come up behind you again."
(My stars, I adore this lyric so much. Even outside of Wenclair, I love this song and this lyric.) That feeling of catching up, finally feeling free from the past just to see a crow or a murder case, and then feeling it crash into your back, right into your spine, out of nowhere. That feeling that you've been lying to yourself, gaslighting-burnt and pained. Choking on your shame.
"The sun is the same in a relative way, but you're older, shorter of breath, and one day closer to death."
Waking up and seeing the same damn sun, always bright and hot and burning and unafraid of itself. All the very things Enid wants to be, but can't be because how can she?
"Every year is getting shorter, never seem to find the time."
Enid couldn't bring herself to ever 'find the time' to contact Wednesday. She has the information to speak with the Addams, and by extension Wednesday. It's easy to tell yourself soon, that it'll all happen soon, but when is soon gone, and later is too late?
"Plans that either come to naught, or half a page of scribbled lines."
Maybe Enid plans to do something about it, speaking to Wednesday or an Addams or something, she'll write a whole document about it, always just a moment away from finishing it. Maybe she plans to visit Wednesday on the author's birthday, but then she misses it, and convinces herself to try again next year, because she can't do it now, she's missed the day.
"Home, home again, I like to be here when I can, and when I come home cold and tired, it's good to warm my bones beside the fire, far away, across the field, the tolling of the iron bell, calls the faithful to their knees, to hear the softly spoken magic spells."
I made this one big lyric because oh dear, it's so perfect. I feel like it'd be the end of bodyguard Enid. "Home, home again," Enid would say, walking into the home she shares with Wednesday, breathing in the scent of heat and warmth and love. She wants to be there all the time, when she can, because it's the home she shares with the woman she loves. She doesn't come back from the rain, I feel like it hits harder if you see it as her returning to Wednesday— Wednesday is her home, the person she goes to when she's so cold and bone-deep exhaustion presses on every bone in her body, snuggling up to the warmth of her lover's love.
-Writer Anon. (Sorry this took almost two days to send in. I got tired :( also, this is about Time by Pink Floyd, incase you couldn't hear the song well enough from your ear being messed up. Take better care of yourself, Streamer.)
Yes Enid has been split from wednesday for a decade since she was 16 to 25! Spent like five to six years in smth military related before being a bodyguard for two years
But damn, the more we explore bodyguard Enid the more I realized that she's been a in slump that whole decade which is just.. Sad. The way you write her makes her a bit more healthier to be honest because personally what I had in mind was something more off in the head, a lil side effect of being a grimwolf, military service and yearning for her mate that's been absent for far more than she should
OVERALL THE WAY YOU TIED THE LYRICS TO ENID'S JOURNEY 😭😭 Boutta cry, she's just a sad girl missing her love, I'm happy she got to go home in the end, that's amazing for her
No worries about taking your time writer! I hope you rested well, that's what matters in the end

“Oh, no, it’s fine! He uh, he actually only said a month and a half at first, but y’know.” She shrugged. “It’s a big favor, at least in my eyes, and I’ve come to actually like working in the forge, except for how hot it is, that I’ll never enjoy.”
Her eyebrow raised and she spoke with uncertainty. “Really? Tomorrow night? That soon? I mean, yeah of course, I’m just surprised you’re free.” A mischievous glint made its way to her eyes. “Are you sure you want to do it that soon? You’re probably gonna need some time to prepare, you know…”
“Well, no duh, Mom told you that regular sleep would basically get thrown out the window, didn’t she? And hey, I don’t mean to be rude, but I can tell that she’s keeping you up at night. Those eye bags could be seen from the other side of the island, for Thors sake.”
Her eyes shot wide, and she held a hand out to stop him. “Woah, woah, woah, Spitelout?! The guy who literally tried to kill me? The guy who is probably the worst person to ever set foot on this island? Him? He cracked a smile? What?!” She shook her head. “You know what? Thanks for the info, now I just have to go wipe that smile off his face.”
She shrugged lightly. “Nah, I don’t think it matters either way, even if she wasn’t your baby, she’d still be adorable.”
She chuckled. “Eh, you gotta start ‘em young, get her used to the never ending attention that she’s probably getting. She’ll be tired for a while, but I can say from experience.” She placed a hand on her chest. “She’ll get used to it,” she said, her voice playful and sarcastic as ever.
She smirked. “Well that’s good, because I was planning on tagging along anyways.” Sighing, she nodded before continuing, “Yeah, I know, I’d be lying if I said I didn’t miss spending time with you. And it’s like, I’m obviously not expecting to see you every second of every day, that would be weird, and I would go crazy, you know I can only tolerate your honking goose voice for so long, its just… I dunno, you have a family now, I get that, Zephyr’s amazing, and you and Astrid are busy with her, and I’m not trying to push myself into everything, again, that would be weird, and I have my own things I need to push myself into.” She let out a breathy chuckle. “I… it just feels like these past couple of months, we’ve barely spent any real time together… I, I’m sorry, I know it sounds selfish, but it’s just how I feel, I guess.”
"It won't be so bad in the winter, at least. Grump hasn't been giving you any trouble, has he?" He was mainly asking as a joke, knowing full well the Hotburple loved Danny.
Shaking his head, he grinned mischievously. "No, no, we can't wait too long, otherwise we might forget! No, the sooner the better! Besides, Astrid mentioned having you come by again soon, just to visit."
Running a hand through his hair, he asked, "Really? Is it that bad?" Forgetting Toothless wasn't with him, he went to turn to his friend. "Bud? You--oh, right." He shrugged. "I'll have to find some time to get a little extra rest, if I look as bad as you say, Gothi might whack me upside the head for not taking care of myself again."
"No need! I sent him off island to check on the tribes storehouse. He'll be gone for a week, I think. Snotlout went with him."
Laughing, he asked, "Oh, will she? You really think so?" Wrapping his arms around Zephyr, he gave a small nod. "She'll be taking on the role of Chieftess when she's old enough, so I'll have her with me a lot when I work, I think."
As they walked, his face fell hearing Danny's words.
Although, his expression briefly changed to mild offense when she said 'honking goose voice'.
"No, you're right. I've been a little busier than usual...things have changed a lot, haven't they?" Nodding, he continued. "I've missed spending time with you, too... and while I do have Astrid and Zephyr now, I'm still your brother, and I'm still here for you if you ever need me. Astrid and I are still adjusting to having Zephyr, so in the meantime, why don't we do this? Why don't all the Haddocks get together and have dinner, as a family, once or twice a week? As a start? And then, once Astrid is cleared for her normal activities again, we can spend some brother/sister time together when we can? Whatever you choose to do, but within reason."

i feel like main verse evelynn is like . . . almost completely unshippable.
like personally, i don't think evelynn as a character is very shippable. she isn't soft, and that by itself is by no means like . . . a "oh they can't be shipped" trait, because i have plenty of other muses who aren't outwardly soft. the difference with evelynn though is everything that encompasses who she is and why she, at a fundamental level, cannot, and should not, be shipped (safely). and like, okay, toxic ships whateverrrrr, but again, personally i have extremely specific requirements for the type of person she'd be with. like, anyone who's just as unhinged and evil as she is. and just to throw a name out there, someone like viego, for one. there's a few more, but. ya know.
evelynn is incapable of romance. like, 99.9% incapable of romance and is definitely aromantic. she's very good at playing pretend and faking it until she makes it and gets what she wants, but she doesn't feel anything for anyone she's pretending with.
this even extends to k/da or any other modern counterpart, or just non-main au. i think there is a very SLIM possibility that she could feel and experience love, but that is very unlikely. i think the closest people she could come to experiencing love, or at least the perception of it, are kayn (in kda/heartsteel or odyssey verses, anything modern) or viego tbh. maybe a few others but i haven't thought of ships outside of kayn/eve and eve/viego.
i still say like ... the perception of it though, because i think evelynn will border on obsession and possessiveness rather than actually feeling love, and even if she does feel love, it's definitely not in the traditional sense where you feel your heart skip beats or whatever other cliche. evelynn is rarely flustered, like, if ever at all, but i think kayn could be capable of making her flustered if he somehow manages to tap into evelynn like that, because i can see her having some like ... semblance of like a "tsundere" type reaction.
that all being said, evelynn definitely has a type (re: odyssey/heartsteel kayn, viego in any verse, basically any edgy or awful person ever, for the most part, but at the least someone who's unhinged like her, or like morally gray enough to let her murders slide lmaoooo). she thinks of people as her playthings and like, usually she'll kill someone after one go or once she gets bored, but people like kayn and viego keep her constantly entertained and she's like "wow i like them i want to keep them around," but i'm not sure how deep that goes yet, because love is not an easy concept where evelynn is involved. she's not like my other muses like sivir or cherry where they're brusque and cold and afraid of attachment and are avoidant. evelynn isn't like that. she just, doesn't experience it, really. it takes a lot factors and special circumstances for it to even be possible for her, but it definitely starts with her finding an obsession with someone, so that's unhealthy to start with.
an addendum: regarding spirit blossom, that's another story, since she's supposed to be more benevolent there, but that's a different can of worms i need to open because i have thoughts about that, but shipping wouldn't be any easier in that verse either.

Dante, being my favorite character of basically anything ever, gets a special privilege I seldom hand out: being dubbed a switch.
(Basically, I want to write Sub!Dante X Dom!Reader and Dom!Dante X Sub!Character. Don't worry, this is still a purely Dom!Reader blog)
Anyway, speaking of Dom!Dante X Sub!Character, imagine Dom!Dante X Brat!Heathcliff. Dante taking Heathcliff into their room/office (does Dante have a room? I know the sinners do) and taking Heathcliff over their knee and spanking them as punishment after Heathcliff got angry and killed a few sinners, making Dante wind back the clock.
I just know that Heathcliff is such a brat. When he wants attention, instead of simply asking for it, he picks a fight with a sinner so he'll get punished. Ishmael is also a brat, but at least she admits it when she wants attention. Even if her way of asking is grabbing Dante by the collar and pushing them against the wall and telling them she wants to be spanked.
She definitely teases Heathcliff for not just admitting that he wants to be spanked. Especially when he tries to rally her up so she'll pick a fight with him.
Outis is such a boss fucker. She needs someone to tell her want to do and praise her if she does something good, and punish her when she doesn't meet their standards. I feel like she also has a boot licking kink.
She loves to kneel on the ground and clean Dante's/Reader's boots with her tongue. After she gets them clean enough, and she's been a good girl, then she's allowed to grind her pussy along the tip of a boot until she cums. Making a mess of what she just cleaned, but that just means that she needs to be punished.
Outis also has a giant praise kink, I can feel it in my bones. But she has to feel like she earned the praise, it can't just be handed out to her freely. So she needs to either endure edging or overstim or do something well before she can accept the praise she's given.
Speaking of praise kinks, I feel like Meursault and Gregor also have one. Meursault because it makes him feel calm and relaxed when he knows that he's doing something right. Gregor didn't know he has a praise kink until you/Dante said "good boy" in the middle of sex and he cums immediately. He is very embarrassed by having a praise kink and tries to deny/downplay it. He has to be fucked out of his mind before he can be praised without getting embarrassed.
About Dante being a dom, I feel like they're a bit of a softer dom who, at first, got a little nervous about being in control. They're not the confident Dom!Reader I usually write. At least, not yet. As they get more experience they slowly get more and more confident.
Idk, it's just funny to to me if Dante started off as a soft Dom and each sinner came to them like "I want you to make me lick your boots/spank me until I cry/ lock me in a cock cage" and Dante is like sigh "Alright".
Also, none of the other characters I've met, besides Dante, give off any sort of dom energy, so sorry Dante, until I'm writing Dom!Reader, they're kinda cursed to always be domming.
I can see Vergilius being a bit of a power bottom when the mood strikes (when he needs to vent out his frustrations of managing 12 rambunctious adults) but most of the time he's a tired old man who just wants to be fucked. Also, I think Vergil would look very good in lingerie.
Dante's initial timid and gentle nature when it came to domming clashed with a few of the sinners who would prefer a stricter dom to take them in hand, but no one is more pkssed than Heathcliff. He just wants to be shoved over a desk and spanked until he's sobbing for mercy, why is Dante being so nice?!
Dante ends up accidentally teasing Heathcliff because he keeps shrugging off Heathcliff's bratting attempts while Heathcliff refuses to sit down and talk about what he actually wants. Heathcliff is basically tearing his hair out, trying to figure out which ones of Dante's buttons to push until they snap.
After a while Heathcliff snaps and gets down onto his knees and begs Dante to spank him after Dante only sighed disappointingly at Heathcliff's latest bratting attempt. Heathcliff believes that Dante will only spank him if he begs for it. And Dante? Seeing Heathcliff kneeling on the ground, clutching their dress pants, and looking up at them with the most desperate in his eyes? Oh, they just have to tease him.

OKAY.
Finished my first playthrough a hot minute ago, but got to talking with my roommate about my thoughts and feelings, so now I'm gonna put them down here! Spoilers under the cut obviously--
What I liked:
The fight atop the brain was SO cool. Struggled with it a bit at first, but once I figured out what I had to do, it became a really fun experience! Being able to summon all of my allies was so rewarding too ❤
Orpheus' sacrifice was so utterly sad that I started crying over having to kill him despite not knowing him for too long. He chastised me when I first freed him, sure, but he was a wonderful ally and a true prince to his people. I wish there was a way to save him, but alas...
Going straight from Orpheus into Lae'zel's ending. Honestly the best ending of the origin characters, hands down. The way she earnestly tells you that she'll never forget you, her promise to make sure that none of her people will either, and the sad smile she gives before flying off on Orpheus' dragon and into the Astral Sea--presumably never to be seen again... Gods, it was beautifully bittersweet. I don't even want to imagine what would've happened had I tried to persuade her to stay. It wouldn't have felt right either way. My only complaint is that I would've loved to give her a hug. I'd even settle for a handshake or something, but oh well
Karlach and Wyll going to Avernus together really felt like a 'just married' celebration tbh. Only with more fire and bloodshed, which is honestly way cooler
What I didn't like:
I really wish there was a cinematic after you kill the Emperor during the final fight. After being used and manipulated by him for so long, you'd think there would be SOMETHING. I mean, the game is named after him for crying out loud! But nope! Just a one liner from the character that ended him and that's it
Astarion's ending was like a kick to the stomach. You spend so much time showing this man that love and joy still exists in this world and that he doesn't have to be like his abuser in order to find it and he becomes so, so grateful to you for it...but he ends up like that?? Burning in the sunlight and left running away in agony all alone?? Why didn't Tav or literally anyone else simply cover him up and shield him from the sun?? We all become friends--family, even--and yet we all presumably abandon him to a life of solitude in the darkness?? And don't even get me started how jarring it is to see THAT and then watch everyone immediately run towards Karlach when she starts dying ldkfjs
There's no celebration scene like Gale mentioned. Why couldn't we have had a nice, traditional DnD tavern moment where everyone is drinking and laughing and having a wonderful time together? Hell, we could've even had this little celebration run late into the night and Astarion shows up! It would've been so nice 😭
Lastly, where is my lovely, domestic cinematic of me and Shadowheart living happily together, surrounded by a multitude of animals big and small and colorful flowers?? WHERE IS IT, LARIAN?? WHERE???
All in all, a fantastic game. I just wish Act 3 was as fleshed out as Acts 1 and 2. I heard that we're supposed to consider the character endings as early access but idk if that's true or not.
Does it change my feelings about the endings? Not at all. Will I play the game again anyway?
DAMN STRAIGHT!!!

What do you think Callie would make of Darkling Wade, should the two universes ever meet?
Hmmm . . . .
Okay, there are two ways this could go.
1 - Callie is a background character in the Darkling Wade universe, meaning he is the one who cares for Silver, Shadow, and Eclipse. They're not dating (as I believe that Wade is aro/ace, right?), but might be friendly, as she is with most everyone in town.
She'd find the attitude change some townsfolk have toward him ridiculous and angering, as he's still the same person, just looks different. (And seriously, the town's been through how much else, with other aliens and giant robots and magic gemstones, and THIS is what they turn their nose up at and say "Nope, not accepting it"? Like, REALLY??)
I'd imagine she'd try to reach out, especially when she realizes he's been hiding himself away, ashamed of what he's become. Bring over some meals, offer to help with the kids, that kinda thing. Just be there for him when he shouldn't be alone. Even when he doesn't want her to, in the beginning. He's a monster, he doesn't know what he's capable of, he may hurt her, she should stay away.
But she keeps coming. Because she's stubborn like that. And maybe when she reaches a point where she considers giving up, she sees how Silver is suffering, and keeps trying to offer some kindness for his sake.
And maybe, one afternoon, Wade snaps and does behave in a threatening manner toward her, because he's a monster and no one should be around him, least of all some lady he barely spoke to before all this happened. But she stays calm and tells him that he needs to get himself together, because his boys need him. HIM, no matter what shape his body is. Because inside, he's still their father, and they still need THAT Wade, regardless of how he feels about what he looks like. Then she leaves, and Wade stands in his kitchen feeling confused and ashamed and sick to his stomach for a while.
And then maybe, once he's had a chance to mull over what she said, he'll pick up the phone. And they'll talk. And maybe she'll come back, this time with some pizza in hand.
Maybe this whole experience is what kickstarts a real friendship between them.
OR
2 - This takes place in the Qwertyverse, and Callie and Wade are either dating or good friends, which is why Eclipse saves him. The boys are really attached to Wade, as he's a really nice guy and Mom likes him a lot. So when Eclipse finds him after the accident, his instincts kick in and he transforms him to save his life.
Immediately after he transforms, he reacts much like he does in Darkling Wade universe, ie, denial, revulsion, depression, etc. Eclipse feels a mixture of hurt and sorrow--he thought he was doing a good thing saving Wade's life (and turning him into a superior form, to boot!), but Wade is really sad about being like this? He's a freak? A monster? It sends the little gremlin into a bit of self-loathing. If Wade doesn't like being a Dark, then maybe he really didn't like Eclipse all this time, either. Maybe Eclipse is a monster, too. Lots of talks from Mom and big hugs needed for the little darkling.
Callie's sympathetic with Wade--to a point. Then she reaches the "okay, pity party's over. Time to quit feeling sorry for yourself and move forward" part of tough love, because frankly, she's got a couple little boys to take care of (one of whom is questioning his own worth right now) and Wade's moping around isn't helping. She'll support him and be right there for him no matter what, but it is what it is, and sitting curled in a dark room isn't going to change him back.
She's not insensitive--far from it. She loves Wade (even if it's just as a good friend, depending on their relationship status) and it kills her to see him so down on himself. But, as a depression sufferer herself, she knows how easy it is to follow that negative thought spiral until you're convinced you'll never be happy again. Which is what Wade's doing right now.
So she sends the boys to the Wachowskis for the afternoon and has a long talk with Wade. She reassures him her feelings haven't changed. She still loves him, and wants him to be part of her life. Yes, he's different, and she's not ignoring that fact, but that's just the outside. She loves who he is, not what he looks like.
And sure, she'll miss his brown hair, and blue eyes, and the way he blushed from his neck to his ears when he was embarrassed. And his smile. She'll really miss that.
But, that being said, she already loves someone with gold-on-black eyes. She already finds the crooked smile full of sharp fangs adorable. Those scales aren't nearly so cold and hard. And she's kind of jealous of the tail. She always thought it'd be neat to have one.
But, beyond all that, he's alive, and that's what counts. He got a second chance, all because her little gremlin child loves him, too. She knows it's hard when people who used to be his friends have turned against him, but this is still new. It took some people a while to get used to all the boys, too. Especially Eclipse.
But if he just keeps being who he is, those to matter will come around. They'll see he's still Wade Whipple, the guy who loves Green Hills, and is usually found standing right next to Tom when the town is in danger. The guy who stood right next to her when Silver literally fell into her life. And who has been there ever since.
And Wade will start this talk feeling angry and dejected, and that he's nothing but a burden to her now that he's this . . . thing instead of a man. But the more she talks, the more those feelings fade. Because she's kind. And sincere. And takes his clawed hand into hers, and touches his muzzle where his stubbly cheek used to be.
And she looks him in the eyes without frowning, or turning away quickly, or flinching when he smiles.
And he'll cry. Not for the first time since he woke up like this, not by a long shot. But these tears aren't angry, or sad, or frustrated, or scared. These are grateful, relieved tears rolling down his face. And then her hands are there, wiping them away as she says soft, soothing words to him.
"Everything will be okay," she whispers, and soon there are tears in her eyes too. "You're gonna get through this. I'm here. I'll always be here for you."
And he'll reach forward, pulling her to him in a hug, the first real hug he's had since he was human, and it feels different but she wraps her arms around him and squeezes tight.
And at that moment, Wade Whipple, former human, will feel hopeful. And that maybe . . . maybe things really will be okay.

Whoops. I just can't help myself sometimes.

You mentioned how noah reacts to Jack coming out, how would the rest of the main cast react?
so!!! I mean sane Jack obviously, because 80s him would never come to terms with it and therefore never actually come out.
Dew literally could not care less. even if Jack wanted bottom surgery (he doesn't) or was gonna transition with hormones (he won't), she'd still be with him. she is 100% fine with it. all that changes for her is that she can try makeup looks on them first before she taints her Pretty Face and sometimes she'll have to remind herself to use they maybe.
ISAAC is super, SUPER giddy. very happy, all warm and fuzzy inside. of course he loves his cis siblings, but being able to bond over being some kind of trans and help Maddie and Jack explore more about their identities always makes him very, very happy. Isaac's the resident LGBT+ expert if you will. they know all the slang, they have the friends, the connections.. :) and even more than just "also trans!!", they're very grateful to be able to experience having another amab trans person in their family to relate to. plus. y'know. new face on which to apply makeup!!!! dress up time !!!
plus, since Isaac is undoubtedly the first person they'd come out to, he's very happy to be able to see that vulnerable side of his big brother that so rarely shows its face. lots of crying and bear hugs. also lots of Jack threatening to punch him if he tells anybody but that's Jack for ya
Eddie? doesn't really care either way- he, like Noah, isn't particularly fond of Jack, so he doesn't like interacting with them all that much and therefore has essentially no relationship with them outside of "they threaten to kill me if I ever break Isaac's heart"
Eli's also has a much less bombastic reaction. it doesn't really CHANGE all that much to him- it's the same person, but now they can share good opaque black lipstick brands. he and Jack are rarely mushy around each other, so it's not like Jack's gonna break down bawling in front of him despite how tightly knit they are, being twins nd all. he's very much "👍" to the whole revelation
Maddie's the interesting one imo... they and Jack have a pretty. strained. relationship. Jack can be quick to anger in certain situations and Maddie likes egging people on/acting like a general shitlord. which results in a lot of teasing, which Jack doesn't appreciate. they still love each other very much, but it's the kind of relationship where you can't be around the person for more than a specific amount of time before losing your shit.
Isaac and Mads discovered their gender shenaniganrey pretty close together so they've had a much longer time to get to properly know themselves in comparison. additionally, Jack still has that major struggle of forming an identity independent of his father. he's a very... lost person. and Maddie is the exact opposite. they've always been sure of who they are, they got on T pretty easily, everything went pretty smoothly.
I think... Jack would never really come out directly to Mads- it'd be something they would find out about second-hand from the rest of the family. which would hurt Mads pretty bad, even though they're aware of why Jack wouldn't feel comfortable telling them. but when they cool down over that, I think it'd make them a decent chunk closer to Jack because now they have something to relate to each other on other than a mutual love of causing problems on purpose. Maddie would have a lot of sympathy for Jack's identity struggles; the whole situation would open their eyes up to a lot of the things he struggles with in general. Maddie can be a pretty self-focused person and tends to ignore the emotional needs of other people, especially Jack because of several previously mentioned factors + the large age gap (Jack's 11 years older than them). so it'd be a pretty Enlightening time.
