my excitement is building as we get closer to the airing of the 60th anniversary special 😭 trying not to get my hopes up too high because i don't necessarily think RTD being the showrunner will definitively reignite my interest in the show but... yknow lol

highkey if the new doctor who is good i might go back to posting it and that kind of makes me happy to think about. nature is healing i'm returning to my roots etc etc

Ya'll ever stop to think about this piece of dialogue in Human Nature when Ten is going to use the Chameleon Arch:

DOCTOR: That's why I've got to do it. I have to stop being a Time Lord. I'm going to become human. Never thought I'd use this. All the times I've wondered.

Like, imagine him sitting in the console room staring at it while Rose is sleeping just wondering what it would be like to become human, being tempted, wishing for the one adventure he can never have.

And this being in a two-parter where we have these lines "That's all I want to be. John Smith, with his life, and his job, and his love. Why can't I be John Smith?" That to me seems more like Ten seeping through in the way he did through John's dreams...

See, we know two things about Jimmy: 1) bad for rose, and 2) Mysteriously Never Shows Up Or Is Mentioned Ever Again After Rose Leaves Him.

so what im saying is that. look. i don't know if jack harkness killed a guy. but i think jack harkness may have killed a guy.

godddd the idea of jack watching over rose drives me insaneee. like. he can't let her see him, ever, because that would break all of time forever probably, but he loves her and he wants her safe. but he can only ever interfere from afar. i think about that one christmas story about nine getting rose a bicycle, and then i go. god jack must have, too, right? mysterious little envelopes with goodies in them slipped through jackie's mailbox, maybe he forged mickey's gran's name on them or some other family friend to make sure she'd open them. he can't change the course of their lives, but he can keep them safe. he can make sure there's enough money when ends are hard to make meet. jack harkness, rose tyler's guardian angel.

and she didn't even know........ she'll never know!!!!!! god!!!!!!!!!!! gets me even worse!!!!!!!!!!!! jack and rose never have a proper reunion, never get to talk about it, she has no idea that he looked after her as he lived through the years, that he mourned her when he thought she died from the cyberman/dalek incident. she doesn't know!!!!!!!! breaks my heart!!!!!!!!!!

before it was even revealed that it was a midnight sequel, the whole "something's behind me"/"i thought i saw something behind you" thing felt very turn left to me

between that and toxic at the beginning of the episode, i've come to a conclusion that will shock no one. rose tyler is coming back to me!

(thinking about the way he convinced her he was still himself. his smile when she said his name. the way he said hello. the way he simply looked at her. how he had to act like everything was normal because he was so scared she was gonna leave him. the hurt when she asked him to change back, just exacerbating that fear even more. him trying to play it off as if he's totally fine with sending her home even though it's absolutely and utterly the last thing he'd ever want to do. his pride at finally getting her to smile, only to be immediately dashed when she snapped at him. the way he made the worst impression after that and scared the life out of her.
