I found an a cute ice cream shop yesterday and thought of you. Maybe some day you can see it. We could get ice cream there and then look at the comic book store.
I can't believe Savage Starlight is fucking ending. I've been reading it since fourth grade. I don't want it to end. How do you feel about it ending?
Love, Els
August 9, 2032 (14 years old)
Els,
I'm so sorry about Riley. That sucks. I hope you guys can still talk.
I'd love to go to the ice cream shop and comic book store with you one day. My brother went off to college today. He's studying to be a doctor. Cool right?

Subject: Hi
Els, this is my email! I'll send you a text right after this. I'm so happy for you! First phone yay!! Also congrats on the art show!
The gym is fun! And space is so cool! I'm not sure what I'll do yet when I'm older. I'm still deciding. I'm glad you know what you want to do though.
Also, cool! I'm glad you feel comfortable telling me! I love you, Els. <3
My brother's being a fucking asshole. He refuses to come to my birthday party because his girlfriend's parents want to have dinner the same day.
I wish you could come. Maybe some day.
Love, Y/N
May 2, 2034 (18 yrs old)
Subject: So
I think I might not be straight. I'm not sure. I've only told you. I can't tell my parents. I don't know how they'd react. I know my brother would hate me. He's a fucking dick now. I don't know why he's the way he is.
My parents have started fighting a lot. Money problems I think. I think my dad might have cheated on my mom too.
I'm excited to go to college next year. I'm glad we got into the same school! We'll finally be able to meet. I've been wanting to meet you for years. Maybe I can finally get away from all the shit that's been going on lately.
I don't know why this all happened so fucking fast.
I hope you're well.
Lots of Love, Y/N

I've been talking with Joel and he said I could do this.
Do you want to come stay with me and my family over the summer? Maybe get a break from your family? We could idk finally fucking meet?
Let me know if you want to come to Wyoming. You could meet my friends. Then we could drive up to school together. It's not too far from my house. Maybe day or two away.

My Trip to Concord: Part Two
Location 2: Orchard House
Tumblr media
We went up the path that lead to the church, and there was a table for guests to sign in with their info and whatever message they’d like to leave. I wrote something like “Best birthday ever for the biggest Little Women fan.” Beside it was a small garden and while it didn’t have any flowers, it was nice to imagine what could have been, and it being the cutest garden.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The tour started in the church, and I was able to get these photos.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Apologizes that the cabinet picture isn’t the greatest, but it was a picture of what appears to be Joan of Arc, and my friend wondered if perhaps Abigail had painted that too. While we waited, we watched this documentary piece (we did miss part of the beginning because we ran a little late at the cemetery) where an actress played LMA and gave a small tour of the house. Something worth noting, and it will be particularly sweet to a certain demographic, when the fictional LMA was showing the pictures from the house, she referred Thoreau as a “very, very, very special friend”. It made me smile like an idiot.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
When it finished, our guide told us that this was the school of Philosophy, where Bronson was the superintendent. The bench by the tree was the bench Bronson often sat at. Then moving into the house, we started in the kitchen and I snuck this picture in before being told that we were not allowed any pictures. If you want a good idea of how the interior looks, the 1994 film did a phenomenal job with the design, the colors are a bit different, but the structure is pretty much the same.
Tumblr media
This was where the well was, and it was protected by plexiglass. It’s interesting, because in October I got to see Edgar Allan Poe’s house in Baltimore, and Orchard house is so much bigger than that, and it really did feel as cozy and inviting as you’d imagine. From the kitchen to the dining room, it had a picture of LMA over the mantel by the stairs, one that was done after her illness and by the same painter who did Abraham Lincoln. The china in the cabinet was the family china, belonging to her mother, which is why it has “May” engraved as it was her maiden name.
The only bedrooms we saw were the parents, which had a small offshoot of Anna’s twin boys’ room, Abigail and, of course, Louisa. The rooms were all very good size, though Abigail's was smaller than the other two, but I get it, she was the youngest, and if remembering correctly, she moved out/was in Europe at an early age, and didn't need the space. What was so cool as seeing her artwork all around her room, protected by plexiglass, and a copy of her painting La Négresse, was featured in her room.
Louisa's room was my favorite, not just because it's Louisa, but because it had the coziest feel, was sunny, and had such a great history there. Our guide shared that Louisa stayed in this room primarily when she was sick during the war, and Abigail would keep her company, and while she lamented she couldn't get Louisa flowers (as they were pricey), she painted flowers in her room, and it's still there, and very beautiful. It's a black background, with calla lilies and some red flower I am not sure of (you can see a part of it if you look at Abigail's wiki page.).
Something to note, at various places around the house, there were small baskets of fake apples, and my mom asked me "what's with the apples", and I said, "well, it is called orchard house." And then a few minutes later, the guide said that there used to be apple trees that grew nearby and Bronson was known to give people apples even if they didn't ask for it. His study was pretty cool, saw a pocket watch holder that worked as well as a clock. On the shelf, the people of the museum filled it with different versions of LMA's works from all over the world, both in style and in language.
Off from there was Abigail's small art studio, which had a dollhouse like case where different scenes from Little Women are played out. And they discovered underneath the wallpaper and whatnot, outlines of Abigail's artwork, profiles of people that had come to visit, and the museum had protected it with plexiglass, and on that highlighted the profiles.
At the end, we were in the store and there were so many awesome things there that I could have wasted my money there, but I settled on a few things.
Tumblr media
Starting at the top and going clockwise, a magnet with Louisa on it with the quote "Nothing is impossible to a determined woman". Next is a small book called "The Language of Flowers" which is, as the cover says, flowers and their meanings". Next is "Merry Christmas and Other Christmas Stories" written by LMA. "Orchard House: Home of Little Women" is a Emmy winning documentary, and was the one that played in the church, and next to it is the Katharine Hepburn Little Women (they had the 33, 94, 19 versions, but I was surprised they didn't have the 17 or even the 49 film, though that is apparently a tough find). Above her, is little kids book called "Little Women: A Playtime Primer", and it's going to be a gift for my nephew. Above that is an ornament of Orchard house with an engraving of LMA, and in the center is a tote bag.
I also got a candle that's called Pickled Limes, and holy crap it smells amazing! A sweet limey scent, which reminded me of @thegamineingrey post of how they were like candy back in the day, and I totally get it. Also, bonus inside, an umbrella charm which was what really sealed the deal, if not for the scent.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Here are pics of the outside of Orchard House, many of which were taken by my mom, since I was too busy just admiring the place.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Suffice to say, it is a beautiful house, full of a rich history and, just as the book, still feels relevant and like going home. I am glad we were able to make the trip out to see this amazing house.

A Valentine Birthday
For @mysticstarlightduck for @writeblrcafe Secret Valentine's Day Event. And yes, I'm your Secret Valentine. I hope Valentine's Day will be full of love for your family and friends.
This is also dedicated to those birthday celebrants who were born on Valentine's Day as well.
And lastly, one last thing: Happy Birthday to Jaehyun of the Kpop boy group NCT, who was born on Valentine's Day as well. Happy Birthday to our NCTzen's (offical fanclub name) Valentine Boy. ❤️
With love,
Queennie (@/sadfragilegirl)
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
I was born on Valentine's Day.
It's seriously true!
I was definitely born on the same date as Valentine's Day. Which means, I am going to celebrate 2 events in one day. It is such a rare thing when someone celebrate between a birthday and general holiday in one day, which is really cool.
Every year, I wore my very best clothes by the time the event is finally today and decorate the whole house filled with both Valentine's Day and Birthday themed decorations.
My mom is baking Valentine's Day cookies and a birthday cake. Every year of my birthday and Valentine's Day, she came up with new ideas on making new desserts. From chocolate truffles to black forest cake. From candy heart chocolate bark to red velvet cheesecake.
While my dad is cutting fresh flowers, including roses in pink and red to put it on a flower vase. Just like my mom, he also came up with new ideas to decorate the whole garden. From flower arrangements to bush sculptures. My dad also has a fruit and vegetable garden as well to make delicious party food.
My siblings? They are in charge of making Valentine themed arts and crafts. And every year of my birthday, they send me a wonderful and creative homemade birthday and Valentine's Day card.
And my friends, my cousins and my relatives from far away? They greeted me a "Happy Birthday and Happy Valentines Day" from text messages and E-Cards received by an Email. They sometimes send me physical cards too because I really missed the handwritten letters just like the old times.
I heard a knocking sound of the door. As I approached the door and opened it, it's my love of my life, which we've been in a relationship for a very long time, came for a visit.
"Happy Valentine's Day, honey", She sweetly said as she received a box of chocolates and a bouquet of different kinds of flowers.
"Thank you very much", I replied.
"But also..." She said when she showed me her homemade heart shaped strawberry cake, "Happy Birthday!"
"Wow, you made this cake for me? How thoughtful of you", I exclaimed with flustering cheeks glowing. How can my love of my life baked this cake so amazingly beautiful? Must be her hands that is full of work of art of a masterpiece.
Once my family and my love of my life are finally gathered at the dining table, we gave each other a toast and sang a Happy Birthday song to me. I even make a wish on those two Valentine's Day plus birthday cakes from a candle.
We also happily ate and chat together with all the food that my mom and my dad prepared.
When it's finally time to have my own moment, I clapped my hands as a call to pause for a while to my family.
"Mom, dad...And all of my siblings...I would like to make a big announcement to all of you."
"What is it, dear?" My mom asked.
"What kind of big announcement?" My dad asked curiously.
I turned to my love of my life and commanded, "Please place my hand onto yours."
And my love of my life ordered to do it with a gleam of a smile.
I pulled a small box from the pocket of my pants and said....
"All those long years we're been together, it's time to go to the road to forever."
I opened the box that inside is an engagement ring.
"Will you be my forever love of my life from eternity? For better and for worse? From achivements and downfalls? In sickness and in health? Till death to us part?"
My love of my life was surprised with tears brimming into her eyes and said, "Yes! Yes I will, my forever love!"
My entire family not only cheered but also cried because how my life has grown so fast after that announcements that I was going to get married with my love of my life after years we're been into a relationship for long years.
We embraced each other after I placed the engagement ring into her ring finger.
"Oh, sweetheart!" She exclaimed in tears of joy. "This is the best Valentine's Day gift ever!"
And with that, this is one of the best memories during the celebration of Valentine's Day and my birthday.
Valentine's Day and Birthday isn't about the gifts, flowers and chocolates, but also it is the time that to spread love and happiness to the people that I loved most in the whole wide world.

Technically I have another hour but given I took the three hours to read Percy Jackson and the two to watch Wolfwalkers, I’m gonna give myself the free hour.
Did you enjoy? It was actually kind of fun to really look at kids’ stuff from the idea of showing it to a kid, and not, ‘Wow, this is the most amazing piece of art. Rocked my world. I’ve never been the same again” and it’s for a ten year old. So maybe I’ll do this again for Jewlet’s birthday!
Eight Days is a thing I do once a year where I bust it out all day so we can all enjoy the things YOU voted on!
I have a tip jar! You can tip me at either Ko-Fi, or,  since Ko-Fi has recently started running through Paypal as goods and  services, thus taking a fee from my tips, you can just directly tip me at Paypal under @docholligay I have two things I am raising money in my tip jar for this year:
A Garmin Venu sq, the cheapest smartwatch that will work with my Stryd. I am an avid runner, and something I’m missing with my current setup, though it is great, is a way to glance at my times while running, which makes tempo work tough 10/120  (If you want your tip to go to this, put a heart emoji in the comments)
Three months of weekly pole dance class: I am working on strength and such, my traditional weak point, and I think weekly pole classes could be a fun way for me to build that! 18/154  (If you want your tip to go to this, put a smile emoji in the comments)
I also have a wish list of 8 Things For Hanukkah Under 40 Dollars for those of you who’d like to get me a physical little something I need or would like.
Tomorrow at 6:30(ish) pm, Mom and I are gonna get drunk and watch The Christmas Switch, livestreamed with all our best friends and worst enemies (you!) We may start chit chatting before then but we won’t start the movie til then. Please join us!

it sure has been a year: cursor's kind of retrospective (or resume idk) on 2022
Tumblr media
happy new years everybody,, or new years eve depending on where you live at the time of reading this
I'll go straight to the point 2022 has been one of the most mixed bag of a year I've had since i have the memory
The start of the year was kinda cool honestly,, the weather in my country was great and i was starting to get new interests,, of course also expecting you know what games near the end of it,, going back to normal class was weird and tiring but i got to make new friends and recconect with old ones i hadn't talked to since the start of the pandemic,, i got to see the coolest fucking movie at the start of april and i loved it,, i had also met kit and joined pocket home and i met good people in there shout out to everyone,, the start of the year seemed pretty good
and then things started going downhill
for starters right at my birthday i started feeling kinda weird,, specially my nose felt funny,, the next day at school i was barely on my feet,, with my entire respiratory system in shambles,, with an awful fatigue and trembling every single moment,, i wanted to go to the nurse's office but i persisted due to having to show a cosplay i worked hard on that same day
long story short the next day arrived and i got positive for covid,, i spent two weeks at home
it didn't help that i missed multiple tests due to quarantine and had to do 5 the same day,, my stress level was on the god damn clouds
in that next month i caught colds and stuff way more easily but hey,, it was june!!! pride month!!! Gay month!!!! also i had finally decided to get into artfight and was ready to make refs for my oc's
Also i had made my very own server and got to meet cool people!!! shout out to kino,, harp and jaz
and then right before winter break started and got time to work on them and the event itself my knee snapped off
yes it did hurt like hell,, i went to the hospital and luckily i didn't need surgery but it was still awful,, i got out of the thing at 3 am and i couldn't even move
I spent the first few days of july on bed,, when i finally was able to barely walk again i got to do a few art fight attacks but then my family from the capital arrived and i couldn't access my laptop for two weeks,, i was pretty bummed out i barely got to do attacks AND that i had to be almost every single day to the doctor in order to heal my leg
also i joined ballcord and then maincord as my cookie run interest started coming back to me
anyways september came along and of course it was independence day for chile,, cool date tbh,, and i decided one of the most drastic meassures i took on my irl image,, i cut my hair
"what's the great deal with that" thing is i've had my hair pretty long and i didn't like cutting it at all,, but as i grew i pretty much realized i was growing out of it and it also became more tiring after it getting tangled everywhere,, best desicion of my life tbh it felt great
I got the funni squid game 3 as well
well i also continued getting sick as a downside of things,, which was weird as fuck since years prior i only got sick at least once a year
my school situation became worse every day,, my grades started lowering and to top that. i started getting bullied. again
i had been on that school since 10 fucking years and they still fucking bullied me,, none of the teachers did shit about it
my mom got an interview at school where they took account of my anger issues and fucking guess what happened there
after years and years of asking i finally got therapy
proper therapy as i had a meeting with one of them before and he just said i was a spoiled child lmao
so news!! I'm pretty much part of the autistic spectrum,, with very minor traits according to my therapist but yeah pretty much that
she's a cool person,, she really helps me and i mean that in a genuine way
my family. well,, they're trying,, our relationship has gone two sides and sometimes made me feel kinda shitty tbh,, anyways back to topic
even if my teacher knew about the bullying it still got worse and worse from heavy verbal abuse to almost physical attacks
the school said they would talk to the bullies and me to get to an agreement and then. never talked to me again
it would all come to a close in early november,, after i snapped in front of the whole class about it
i had a massive panic attack
i had to ask my mom to come get me early and i had to talk to the teachers where it turns out. they talked to the bitches but never to me.
if i had known that then i could have told them so they would actually stop
and then they started twisting the blame onto me for staying quiet when they didn't fucking tell me shit to start
anyways,, my mom decided i wouldn't go to that school again,, i have been home ever since,, we are hoping another school accepts me in the meantime
As of social media well. i have gotten into a few projects i want to really get through,, i still need to do owed art and i apologize for making it so late. i really really do
my first comic project,, a game (RPG maker Is a bitch sometimes btw) and of course my askblogs and au's,, I'll try to get them fully moving in 2023,, i really want for everyone to see what i have to tell storywise
also i hope i stop getting sicker lmao
i guess this Is going nowhere tbh,, kind of a long resume of the shit that happened to me this year and an excuse for why i barely post decent art and ideas here nowdays (sorry),, but hey at least i met cool people
thanks for sticking around Is pretty much what i have to say
2022 has been kind of a bitch,, here's to hoping 2023 Is at least a little bit better
happy new years everyone,, happy to still be here

4 and 18 for odessa!! (or alternatively, casilda lore??)
aHHHHH someone asking about my girl Casilda! 🥺 she and Odessa are the main ones I'm currently fixated on, so I'll answer BOTH~ (ironically, they both have gardening as hobbies, and that happened by sheer coincidence, but seems fitting.)
Odessa
4. What is their relationship with their parents? What’s a good and bad memory with them? Did they know both parents? Odessa's parents were very active in her life and in raising her. She was their only child, so they maybe spoiled her a little--but just with love. They'd take annual trips to local conservatories and zoos on her birthdays and just basically let her infodump about all the plants and animals she'd been reading about. They, unfortunately and very suddenly, died in a freak ice storm when she was a teenager. (This is a plot point that links back to a handful of stories we'll be writing, so I'm trying to be vague in case anyone reading this wants to read her stories!)
18. What’s their favourite genre of: books, music, tv shows, films, video games, and anything else! books: horror and science-fiction, a little fantasy. she's really partial to Stardust by Neil Gaiman, might even call it her favorite (right next to the works of Mary Shelley and Shirley Jackson). music: pop (especially 70s/80s pop/rock, her mom's favorite) and guitar-heavy rock (some favs include ABBA, Marina, Madonna, Fleetwood Mac, Kate Bush, The Offspring, and Taylor Swift). tv shows and movies: sci-fi, comedy, a little pickier with horror movies as opposed to books.
Casilda (as with Odessa, I'm going to assume anyone reading this knows something about The Sandman TV show. anybody let me know if you want a scattered/messy Casilda lore post like I did for Odessa! basically all you need to know for now is that she's originally from the 1600s, and joined the realm of the Dreaming after her death in the Waking, and she works in the palace of Dream of the Endless.)
4. What is their relationship with their parents? What’s a good and bad memory with them? Did they know both parents? in her Waking life, Casilda only really got to know her father; her mother died in childbirth while having her younger sister (Casilda was about 4 years old). Her family was very poor, and worked at any trade they could manage to try to get by (mostly vegetable and animal farming). Her father was kindly, and tried to give his daughters the best life he could. He fostered her love of art, even if he didn't always understand it, and often went without things for himself to buy her books and painting supplies.
18. What’s their favourite genre of: books, music, tv shows, films, video games, and anything else! Casilda is such a romantic; she can't pass up a good romantic drama of any sort. she and her sister used to sneak into productions of Shakespeare plays when they couldn't afford tickets. Once she arrives in the Dreaming and has access to essentially the whole history of books, she gets really into Jane Austen and the Bronte sisters. but, given where she lives, she also regularly devours some fantasy adventure stories. George Méliès' adaptation of A Trip to the Moon impressed her so much that she still calls it one of her favorite movies. her best friend curates all the history of the Waking's music, so she's been introduced to a lot of new genres since the invention of the record player. her favorite, though, is folk music. she's fond such modern artists as Sinéad O'Connor and The Crane Wives! (her best friend is getting her and Dream into grunge rock and bubblegum pop, though, since they both missed the 80s and 90s due to Plot Things. so far, Casilda is really enjoying Britney Spears!)
I'm THRILLED that people are actually sending me questions about my characters, like this has totally made my week omg ;u; thank you so much for asking!!!

Under cut because this is a lot.
1. selfie
Tumblr media
First day of school selfie. (Taken on a flip-phone-)
2. what would you name your future kids?
I don't want to have children EVER, but if I had to... Veronico, Riley, and Aria. (Male, gender-neutral, and female. I'd rather have gender-neutral names because in case they're trans I don't want them to suffer like I do. I also like Italian names so that too.)
3. do you miss anyone?
Lucifer-morningstar-the-hellster... Please tell me you're alive.
There was also this girl I met on Omegle, her name was Alyssa. I think about her a lot. I had contact with her through Twitter but my old Twitter account was deleted because of my mom. I kinda still miss her and think about her a lot.
4. what are you looking forward to?
That I'll have time to do art and animation throughout the school year. And that this school year won't be as bad as last year where I literally wanted to kill myself. I'm hoping school won't make me as stressed of depressed this year. It's starting off well (got all my supplies and all, unlike last year where everything was jumbled up).
5. is there anyone who can always make you smile?
Almost all my friends! Seeing them happy makes me happy. Though the amount of simping and dirty jokes I get is a bit overwhelming though I do sit back and just laugh about it.
6. is it hard for you to get over someone?
Sometimes, but not really. I can pretty easily just say "fuck it, what do I care?" and move on.
7. what was your life like last year?
Really depressing. Being always called by my deadname, being really stressed and depressed, I never had time for anything fun and I had way too many all-nighters. As said before I was really suicidal, and also my friends and mutuals were being depressing.
8. have you ever cried because you were so annoyed?
Well annoyance at sound because of overstimulation is a thing. I have almost broke down crying because of how loud everything was and my school and class. My parents want to get me noise-canceling headphones (like the ones that don't play music and stuff). And I already have ear plugs.
9. who did you last see in person?
My friend, he is a brother of a previous friend I had, and he's in 9th grade I think? We're chill with each other and talk about memes and The Click and Hazbin Hotel.
10. are you good at hiding your feelings?
I have no idea. I think I am because a lot of people think I'm happy-go-lucky.
11. are you listening to music right now?
Not as of writing this. I would like to but it's late and I don't want my mom knowing I'm staying up. Also it's a bit hard writing thoughtful things while listening to music (with lyrics especially).
12. what is something you want right now?
I wanted to just talk to my friends and simp over a character. I wanted to draw and animate a bit so I'll do that after finishing this Q&A.
13. how do you feel right now?
I think I'm happy. I'm a tad bit bored but I LOVE answering questions. I rarely get asked things and so I'm happy answering questions.
14. when was the last time someone of the opposite sex hugged you?
Opposite sex and opposite gender? Both I have no I idea. I think opposite gender was last year or something. Opposite sex like never. I usually hug my friends instead of them hugging me because I get really freaked out by people touching me.
15. personality description
Hm... I'm chaotic, I talk about murder and cannibalism a lot, I'm charming and have charisma (as the kids these days say "rizz"), I'm old-timey and I've been described as "your like when I drop a book and it lands half open" instead of an open book. I'm bombastic and energetic, argumentative and stubborn yet willing to change opinions and acknowledge I'm wrong. I can be loving and caring and many people see me as the therapist friend and the parent friend. I am theatrical and cartoonish in the way I talk and do things.
16. have you ever wanted to tell someone something but you didn’t?
I mean yeah, I think we've all done this at some point. I mean sometimes it's things I'm debating or for my own safety (like pronouns because my parents are transphobic).
17. opinion on insecurities.
What is there to say? They exist and they're there for a reason.
18. do you miss how things were a year ago?
No.
19. have you ever been to New York?
I flew over New York on an aeroplane when I immigrated from Russia to America for the first time. But I have never officially been there.
20. what is your favourite song at the moment?
Bad Boy Good Man, Play Me Friday Night, and The Magic Slapstick all by TAPE FIVE (guess what my favorite band is-). I like them a lot for some reason, really catchy and the lyrics are fun. I like to imagine myself or my original characters to them.
21. age and birthday?
I'm twelve, but in nine days I will be thirteen. I was born August 12.
22. description of crush.
Hm... An antique copper trawler lantern, and a half-deer radio demon.
Or Airy from Hfjone and Alastor from Hazbin Hotel.
But if we're speaking like people crushes, I'm AroAce. But squashes and such, my last one was Dread, partner in crime. Not wedded in case any of us commit a crime and we don't want the other to deal with that!
23. fear(s)
I hate spiders, just no. But I would have one as a pet if it was under control and not poisonous or venomous or dangerous. Also I don't like small dogs they just scare me. I have a lot of anxiety, and I fear death a lot. I have constant existential dread that absolutely ravishes me. I have a fear of not doing the things I want and not having enough time to do things. I fear my parents will find out I'm trans and queer in general, and that I think I may have mental illnesses.
24. height
I'm 155 centimeters, about 5'1" in imperial units.
25. role model 26. idol(s)
Both Alex Hirsch. I'm Alex, for one, I want to be a cartoonist, voice actor, and create and do amazing things. But basically I am my own person and the role model and idol I have is myself.
27. things i hate
Social situations where I don't know if I'm supposed to be there or not, places I do not know how to navigate, large crowds, a lot of sound, I have a couple drawing pet peeves like tangent lines and drawing eyelashes directly on the eyes and blushing done wrong, when my art program crashes and doesn't save anything, when I make a mistake... Etc.
28. i’ll love you if…
Hm, if you treat me as an equal and don't discriminate against me for any reason. If you don't interrupt me, ignore me, and leave me out like many do. If you remember things about me others wouldn't. If you have the same interests I have. If you don't pick on me and make fun of me and bully me. Just please understand me and I'll be your friend.
29. favourite film(s)
I like Mary Poppins (1964), The Wizard of Oz, and old-timey things are my jazz. Though anything with a good story and plot and action are also my thing.
30. favourite tv show(s)
Hazbin Hotel, Gravity Falls, Inside Job, Hfjone, The Series of Unfortunate Events, and some other things like that. I watched a couple shows in my time though a very long time ago.
31. 3 random facts
I was homeschooled for 3-4 years, I am one of the best performing students in school, I play the saxophone.
32. are your friends mainly girls or guys?
My real-life friend group is mostly gals, but my online friend group (which I consider my actual friends) are mostly trans guys and non-binary people.
33. something you want to learn
I want to learn to do art at a professional level along with animation, and I want to learn to produce music and play the sax, and I want to learn how to properly voice-act and have a male voice.
34. most embarrassing moment
There are a lot. I would rather not type or choose. Basically "I say something" *cricket noises*. Usually I feel second-hand embarrassment too instead of actually being embarrassed for myself.
35. favourite subject
In school? It's linguistics.
36. 3 dreams you want to fulfill?
I want to be famous, I want to be good at art, I want to be good at sax.
37. favourite actor/actress
I'm not much for actors and actresses, I can't name any. I just watch the movie or show and not consider the names of the people behind them. Though voice actors I'd say Alex Hirsch.
38. favourite comedian(s)
There is a guy I used to like named Jack Whitehall, he was pretty funny I think.
39. favourite sport(s)
Biking and swimming. I don't exactly do sports but I do enjoy these things. It's relaxing though it does give me a workout. I'm going swimming to the creek this morning!
40. favourite memory
There are plenty. Talking to my friends and me saying something smart or hilarious, people laughing or loving me. I want love for me and my favorite memories is when I get it. I also remember a time where I lost my plushie, and then my mom finally found it. Yeah...
41. relationship status
I'm single and not ready to mingle~ Though Dread is my partner in crime I just consider him a friend. QPR shiz. I do like to flirt with others to mess with them and whatnot.
42. favourite book(s)
There is only ONE book/book series I ever read for my own pleasure. All the Wrong Questions by Lemony Snicket, it's amazing and really my genre.
43. favourite song ever
Hm... That's a really hard question. I'd say most of TAPE FIVE. Boheme Supreme, Play Me Friday Night, Ballroom Troopers, The Magic Slapstick... There is so many. But those are the main ones.
44. age you get mistaken for
I always get mistaken for being older even if I'm on the shorter side. Like a year or two older than I am usually. Probably because of how I act a bit more mature than some but I'm still not that tall.
45. how you found out about your idol
I of course was obsessed with Gravity Falls, and Alex Hirsch is a big part of the community, so yeah! And he's everything I want to be.
46. what my last text message says
Tumblr media
47. turn ons
Oh really~? Hm~ Okay, well, when people are overly-seductive and they're serious (help me dear god). Though being AroAce it's like "Uhm I'm flattered but oh my-"
48. turn offs
Awkwardness and lack of ability to proceed with things. Awkward, silly, and embarrassing conversations are just weh. Whenever I read fanfiction I just can't and have to skip over those parts.
49. where i want to be right now
I don't know. I want to be happy and not in school. I want to do the things I aspire to do.
50. favourite picture of your idol
Tumblr media
51. starsign
I'm a Leo which honestly meh.
52. something i’m talented at
Art. I am amazing at art and consider myself an intermediate artist.
53. 5 things that make me happy
My friends, moths, my fandoms and the characters I simp for, my dogs, wearing a suit with a bowtie.
54. something thats worrying me at the moment
School, that today I'm staying up a bit late, and that I am anxious I won't have enough time for all the things I want to do.
55. tumblr friends
I have way too many. I'd list them from-time to time so that's that. Also it's in my introduction post!
56. favourite food(s)
I have a dish I made myself. It's rice, fried grated carrots, eggs, chopped peppers and parsley/cilantro. It is SO good. I can't live without it. It's also like the only healthy thing I eat so obviously. I also like broccoli with sour cream with garlic, it's so good.
57. favourite animal(s)
MOTHS! I am OBSESSED with moths, which makes sense considering I'm a moth therian. I love the Cecropia Moth and I can't live without it, it is MINE. I also like black snakes, because Lucifer and all that, and AXOLOTLS. My mom recently gave me an Axolotl necklace to me.
58. description of my best friend
Author-of-the-year. The sweetest, most positive person in the world. She has no bad in her and she is the best and how did I even end up with her-
59. why i joined tumblr
So funny thing, I used to be absolutely in love with Bill Cipher. Then I learned he was a Tumblr Sexyman... So naturally I joined Tumblr and started Sexyman-posting about Bill.
60. do u like cheese
I like things with cheese in them, yes, like cheese pizza, macaroni and cheese, toast with cheese, a sandwich with cheese... I'd say I like Velveeta (brand) cheese, and Aged Swiss cheese. Though cheese on its own is just bland.
Alright, I had fun doing this Q&A, I love answering questions about myself.

The Man In Black (page 1) (COPY RIGHT)
It’s February, 28th, and the year is 2013, a young man that is turning 20 years old today. A horrible event will happen later, something that he won’t see coming. The young man’s name is Michael. A tall, and slim young Caucasian man, who has a passion for filming. Michael is in bed sleeping, peacefully, until his best friend, Brandon, comes banging in Michael’s bedroom.“.Wake up?”, said Brandon. Brandon is Michael’s long time best friend since middle school. He’s another tall, and slim Caucasian young man. He’s the same age as Michael, and also ha a passion for filming. “Dude, if you start singing that System of a Down song, I’ll kick your ass!”, said Michael. “Wow, being violent already on your birthday. Anyways, your mom made waffles. Plus we need to finish the final scenes.”, said Brandon. “Ain’t our short film due n two wedeks?”, said Michael. “Yea, but post production is a bitch, though!”, said Brandon. “You got a point. Alright, I’ll be down in a while. Gotta shower first.”, said Michael. “Whatever you say.”, said Brandon. Right before Brandon exits Michael’s bedroom, he annoys Michael one more time. “Grab a brush and put on a little make up!”. Michael awakens. “Alright, I’m up!”, said Michael. Brandon quickly exits, as Michael fully gets out from bed. Getting ready to shower and to start his day.
Michael arrives at the kitchen, as his mother snd sister, speaks and surprise him. “HAPPY BIRTHDAY!”. His sister Andrea, approaches towards Michael, giving him a hug and his birthday present. “Happy birthday, big brother!”, said Andrea. She hands over the birthday gift to him. Andrea is a 17 year old high school student. She’s a young beautiful brunette, who’s intelligent and very close to Michael. “I told you guys not to buy me anything.”, said Michael. “I didn’t buy anything. I made this for you in my art class.”, said Andrea. “Nice!”, said Michael. He unwraps the gift, and sees it’s a canvas painting. A painting of a human being looking at the view from the Hollywood sign. The painting is really detailed and alongside showing vibrant colors. “Wow… This is really beautiful. I love it. What gave you the idea?”, said Michael. “I remember you telling me, you’ve always wanted to go to the sign and sit next to it. Looking at the view, and just go there whenever you’re upset.”, said Andrea. He hugs his sister. “Thanks.”, said Michael. Michael’s mom approaches towards him, giving him a hug, and a birthday card. “Happy birthday, son.”, said Michael’s mother. Michael’s mother is a 37 year old single mother. She’s wearing scrubs, getting ready to go to work. Her job is a nurse at a clinic. “Thanks, ma.”, said Michael. He opens the birthday card. Inside the card, it contains a $100 bill, and a message on the card. He reads the message. “Michael, my first born, I hope you have the best day, with lots of fun and love. I wish you the best. Love ma.” Brandon arrives at the kitchen. “What did I miss?”, said Brandon. “Where were you?”, said Michael. “I was outside, talking to my folks. Telling them, we’re going to be mostly busy all day, with the scenes and your birthday. My folks says “Happy Birthday!” to you.”, said Brandon. “Well, tell your folks, thank you, when you go home at night. And to answer your question, what you missed, Andy gave me a painting that she made for me, and my ma, gave me 100 bucks.”, said Michael. “Nice! I should rob you.”, said Brandon. “Ha! I’d kick your ass, just kidding.”, said Michael. “Anyways, are you ready to go?”, said Brandon. “Yeah, just let me get my jacket.”, said Michael. Michael quickly goes to his room, to grab his jacket. “What time will you be home?”, said Michael’s mother. “I should be back by midnight. Gotta finish these final scenes, for our film class. I’ll text you if anything changes.”, said Michael. “Okay. Stay safe and be careful!”, said Michael’s mother. Michael replies, as both Michael and Brandon, walks to the front door, getting ready to leave the house. “I know, ma! I know the drill”. The young men fully exits out the house and walks to Brandon’s car. Both enters the car and drives off.
It’s a beautiful warm sunny day, and the young men arrives at the Santa Monica pier, along with three other young individuals, two female and one male. The 20 year old young beautiful brunette is wearing a red dress and black heels. The young woman’s name is Lisa. She’s Caucasian, studying to be an actress, and is a friend to the young men. The other young man is yet another 20 year old Caucasian man. The young man is wearing a blue button shirt, with black slacks. His name is Bennett. Bennett is also studying to be an actor, and also another friend to the young men. The last young individual is Megan. Megan is 19 year old African American light skinned with curly hair and just wearing casual clothes. She’s the make up artist, and the boom operator. The group of the young individuals are recreating a scene for their short film project for class. The scene they’re recreating is the pier scenes from 2000’s “Requiem For A Dream”, as their assignment. Michael and Brandon are getting the filming equipment from the trunk. “Guys, why don’t you start heading towards the end of the bridge. We’ll meet you guys over there.”, said Michael. “Okay, let me just get my make up kit and the boomer.”, said Megan. Brandon hands over the equipment and the make up kit to Megan. She grabs the equipment and the three individuals are walking to their destination. “Lisa, I’ll do your make up, once we’re there.”, said Megan. “Okay. That’s fine.”, said Lisa. “Do you think this will give us a passing grade?”, said Brandon. “It better! The last few projects were ok, giving us a good enough to pass. I guess, I just want to get better, for each project.”, said Michael. “You will. Just don’t rush it.”, said Brandon. “Yeah… Let’s go do this.”, said Michael. Both of the guys gathers the camera equipment and walks to the destination.
The young men arrives, meeting up with the rest of the crew. As Michael and Brandon are prepping the camera, Megan is doing Lisa’s hair and make up, getting her ready for the scenes. “Are you nervous?”, said Megan. “A little.”, said Lisa. “Relax, you’ll do fine.”, said Megan. “Hanks.”, said Katrina. The camera is set up and are ready. Michael walks over to the girls. “Alright, everything is set up. Are you two ready?”, said Michael. Lisa replies, as Megan puts the make up and hairbrush away. “I’m ready.”. “Do you need more time, Megan?”, said Michael. “Nope! I’m ready.”, said Megan. “Okay. Let’s go. Kat, follow me please, and Megan, go stand next to Bennett.”, said Michael. Lisa follows Michael to the end of the bridge, while Megan grabs the microphone and heads to Bennett’s direction. Michael and Katrina, approaches at the end of the bridge. Michael gives instructions to Lisa of how to stand, turn, and react. She looks, as he explains. “Lisa, I want you to stand against the rail, looking at the sea with your arms spreading. And when your hear Bennett, saying your name, Marion for fifth time, turn around and act like you’re happy to see him.”, said Michael. “Okay. Sounds easy enough.”, said Lisa. “We’re going to film Bennett’s part first, then your part.”, said Michael. “Sure.”, said Lisa. “Okay. Stay here, I’m going to talk to Bennett and explain what he has to do. So, when I say, get into position, be ready.”, Michael. “Gotcha!”, said Lisa. Lisa stands against the rail, as Michael leaves, heading to Bennett. Bennett is standing against the rail, looking at the view of the beach. Michael approaches towards Darren and explains what he has to do. “Bennett!”, said Michael. “What’s up?”, said Bennett. “What I want you to do is, stand here at the center of the bridge, and look around, and act like in a way of what’s going on. And when you see Lisa at the end of the bridge, I want you to slowly run to her while calling her Marion. After calling out her name for the third time, you’re going to build up your speed of running towards her. Lastly, when you approach to her, I want you to smile, act like you’re happy to see her with a big smile.”, said Michael. “Okay, got it!”: said Bennett. “We’re going to film your parts first.”, said Michael. Bennett nods his head yes. “Okay, when I yell out get into position, be ready.”, said Michael. “Understood.”, said Bennett. “We’ll start in a bit, gotta talk to Megan and Brandon.”, said Michael. Darren fixes himself, as Michael speaks to Megan. “Megan, I just need you to run with the microphone next Bennett on the side.”, said Michael. “Alrighty.”, said Megan. Michael now heads to Brandon. “Brandon, what I need you to do is, film a shot in front of Bennett looking around. Second shot is a quick shot of his back. Third shot is in front of Bennett again. Fourth shot is him walking to slowly running towards Lisa. Fourth shot and the rest of the other four shots are basically the same thing. “So, it’s a continuation, but in small bits.”, said Brandon. “Exactly.”, said Michael. “Okay.”, said Brandon. “These scenes are him running, this time he’s going to be calling out Marion. After we finish filming Bennett’s scenes, we’re going to film Lisa’s scene.”, said Michael. “How many scenes does Lisa has?”, said Brandon. “She has 8 quick shots.”, said Michael. “Okay, got you.”, said Brandon. Michael yells out. “GUY, GET INTO POSITION! BE READY!”. Lisa stands against the rail, Bennett stands at the center of the pier, alongside with Megan, holding the microphone, and Brandon goes on to get ready, standing in front of Bennett. Everyone is in position and ready. “OKAY, ACTION!”, said Michael. Everyone is doing their job, making Michael smile.

Happy Birthday, Bec ( @chocolatecakecas)! Have some momma Dean and Daddy Cas get together :)
wc: 2.5k
Dean holds the preschool’s scrunched-up flyer in his hand before letting out a heavy sigh. He never thought he would ever celebrate Mother’s Day again, and he especially never thought that he would be the mother who would be celebrated.
He begged Cas not to make him do this, but it wasn’t Cas who he was afraid to disappoint.
Dean stuffed the paper back into his pocket before walking over to the front office to check-in for this Muffin with Mom event. He talked to the school beforehand to check if it was okay for him to show up to this event, but they already knew he was ‘Momma’ to Jack, so they saw it coming. Of course, they did but Dean sure as fuck didn’t.
He walks into the office and follows the signs that lead outside to the big grass area that transformed from a play area to a nicely decorated picnic area. Everything was pink, from the flowers to the plastic table cloths, but it didn’t feel too overwhelming because they were outside. His eyes spotted the small photo op area, and he couldn’t wait to get some cute pictures of him and Jack so Cas can add to his album.
At least that would be worth the embarrassment.
Dean joined some of the familiar faces of the sea of ladies that crowded the classroom doors—waiting for the kids to be let loose and get this party finally started. He smiles and waves at them, knowing them from pick up and playdate parties at their homes.
Dean and Cas know they can never host one at their home in the lakehouse cause while the outside has invisible warding, the inside looked like a crazy person lived in there. It was a heavily warded place that hides them for a good few miles to any supernatural monster— angels included, so it’s a good thing Cas knows how to use google maps or he would always skip their street— but the inside Jack was free to let his wings out and practice his powers.
“Okay!” He looks up to see Jack’s classroom open up. “Go find your Moms!”
He walks closer, seeing little rugrats running past him, and crouches until he meets the gaze of his little angel. “Hiya, bud!”
“Momma!” Jack shouts as he sprints to him and then jumps into Dean’s arms, almost knocking him back with his strength. Jack snuggles into Dean’s shoulder as he wraps his arms around his neck, staying locked in place as Dean stands up.
“Why are you surprised? Told you I was gonna come.” Dean rubs his hand up and down his back as they follow the group of moms to line up for the food. Other classes start to open up, and Dean at least wanted something to damn snack on while he’s here.
“I know.” Jack pulls back and presses Dean’s cheeks together with his little hands, and luckily with none of his strength. “I was just scared.”
“Why?” Dean asks with puckered lips.
“Cause,” Jack sighs before leaning back down to rest his head on Dean’s shoulder. His tiny fist is holding the collar of his jacket in a tight grip. “I know you’re not a Momma like the other Momma’s.”
Dean’s stomach drops at the words.
He quickly got out of line and went inside his now empty classroom so they can talk. Dean hates these tiny chairs, but he sat down anyway, hoping it won’t break from under him, before pulling Jack away to face him.
“Jack,” He was stubborn, but a little tickling always did the trick. Dean takes Jack’s face in between his hands so he would look at him. “I am not like the other Momma’s, but I am still yours. That’s why I’m here, right?”
Jack nods, a small smile on his face that was a carbon copy of Cas’s own.
“I better be, cause I heard you owe me a muffin!” Dean leans forward to gently bite Jack’s cheek, who giggles and screams while he pushed Dean away with child strength.
“Stop! Momma!” Jack laughs before Dean showers his face with kisses so that he could see the pout leave and a bright grin appear. One that made Dean love life so much more than he ever thought he could.
“Love you.” Dean places a final kiss on Jack’s nose. Only for Jack to copy him and repeat, “Love you.”
They went back outside and had to go to the back of the line, but with Jack in his arms, he was perfectly content. He loves hearing his little four-year-old ramble on while telling a story.
When they got their food—a muffin and some damn apple juice, he’s going to have to take Jack to lunch after this—they went to sit at a crowded table that was calling for Dean to join them. Usually, everyone enjoys Cas’s company a lot more than his, but right now, they had Dean to play with, and he didn’t mind getting the attention of all the milf’s in school.
He sat down in the middle of the table with Jack on his lap so Dean can make sure his kid at least eats a bit of the muffin before running around with the rest of his friends. The whole mommy and me event just became a big chance for mommy’s to gossip, and he couldn’t help but wanna be a part of it.
They were all talking about a Mom who didn’t show up and instead sent the babysitter when Jack finally got inpatient and ran off to play with his friends. When Jack was out of earshot, all eyes fell on Dean when he stuffed almost half a muffin in his mouth. He looks at them with raised eyebrows, asking them a silent, “What?” as their smiles spelled trouble for Dean.
“We heard from the secretary that you and Castiel aren’t together...together.” Liz whispers the last word as she leaned closer to him.
“That’s not a secret.” Dean swallows the rest of the muffin and finishes off the apple juice. “Cas and me are friends.”
“Really?” Carmen sat back in her chair, looking as if the universe didn’t make sense anymore. All eyes fell on Liz again, as if she was chosen to be the ring leader to ask all these questions.
“But you guys talk about each other like—I was gonna say like I talk about my husband, but that’s not true. I complain more than anything, but you two are always--you’re like a team. Like an actual team! And the way--the way you look at each other!”
“Okay,” Dean clears his throat, feeling his face heat up. “I don’t know what you are getting at, but Cas and I are best friends. We’re just raising his kid together. My brother helps too. It’s not-It’s just not like that with us.”
“But, do you want it to be?” Carmen leans in again, and Dean looks around at the milf’s that thought Cas and him were a married couple. “Cause it kinda looks like you want it to be.”
Dean opened his mouth to answer defensively cause, of course, he didn’t. He was perfectly fine living his domestic life with Cas and Jack. Maybe they were not a traditional family, but there was no damn way they would ever be with ⅔ of the family being celestial beings. Still, going to bed alone was getting harder each night. The longing stares have become heavier, and all the missed opportunities were starting to weigh on him.
He wanted so much more, but how can he ask for that when this is already the happiest he has ever been and the happiest he has ever seen Cas. He can’t risk making it awkward by expressing his feelings that may not be reciprocated. That’s fucking embarrassing for one, but Dean also didn’t want to risk losing the closest thing he has ever gotten to having a family of his own.
“It’s not that simple.” Dean finally groaned as he ran his hand through his hair. “Things are complicated between us.”
“Well, uncomplicate them!” Liz hits his arm to grab Dean’s attention before he falls back into his head.
“Mommy! Come watch me on the swings!” One of the kids call for them, and all the rest of the kids came running over, Jack included. But by the look of Jack’s face, Dean can tell the superhearing was working perfectly fine.
“Come here, bud.” Dean opens his arms, and while the rest of the mothers got up to watch their kid play, Jack stayed curled up in Dean’s arms as they finish their muffins together.
“Momma?”
“Yeah, bud?”
“We’re a real family, right?”
Dean presses a kiss to Jack’s hair. “Course we are, Jack. Me and your Daddy love you.”
“And you love each other?” He looks up at Dean with those same piercing blue eyes and curious look that he found so fond in Cas.
“Always have.” Dean quickly answers as he squeezes his kid. “Now eat so we can take some pictures.”
Dean ends up taking Jack home, with the preschool arts and crafts presents in the passenger seat, because maybe Dean does have to get his head out of his ass. Cause Dean knows Cas loves him. Was it the same kind of love Dean felt? Who knows? But they are going to find out.
“We’re just gonna pick up Daddy and go out to get some real food in you. Got it, bud?” Dean looks over at the rearview mirror to see a thumbs up and an excited grin.
“Got it, Momma!”
When Dean parks the car outside, he told Jack to wait in the car—the kid can turn on the car and play with the radio with his mind, he’ll be fine— while he went inside to tell Cas to get ready.
“I’m home!” Dean called out as soon as he was in the house and then hears an “In here!” coming from the bathroom. He walks in to see Cas was under the bathroom sink, all the cleaning products spread around him, probably fixing that leak that was bothering him so much.
“Hey,” Dean kicks him gently to get his attention before crouching beside him. “Go get ready. I have Jack in the car; let’s go have some lunch.”
Cas scooted out from under the sink, and when he sat up, his face was only inches away from Dean’s own. He looked utterly unphased from being so close while Dean’s breath hitched at feeling Cas’s sigh touch his lips.
“I don’t even eat, Dean.” Cas wipes his hands on a towel before pushing himself up to stand. Dean took a shaky breath before he stands up too. “And why did you take Jack from school so early?”
Dean follows Cas out of the bathroom and into Cas’s bedroom, “You eat sometimes and cause I wanted to have some family time.” Dean sits at Cas’s bed as he watches the angel change into a clean shirt, his back muscles as beautiful as usual. “And I just, I think we should talk.”
Cas turns around to look at Dean with a curious head tilt. “About?”
Dean stood up to slowly walk over to Cas, not meeting his eyes, as he whispers, “Us.” Dean can see Cas start to look panic at the word, and before Cas could say anything, Dean leans forward to press his lips at the corner of Cas’s mouth. “I wanna know how you feel about us.”
Cas stood wide-eyed as Dean pulls away. He waits for an answer, but the angel was just staring at him with fingers twitching to reach and hold something. Dean took Cas’s hand and twined their fingers together; hopefully, that is what Cas wanted.
“I know we’re just playing pretend here,” Dean continues as he looks down at their hands. “But I’m tired of playing, Cas. I want, fuck okay, shit, I just-- I want to-I want,”
“Yes?” Cas leans in closer, urging Dean to continue, but Dean wasn’t sure he could, so he looks up to see Cas lick those soft lips.
He knows he wasn’t good at using his words, but he has always been good at showing, doing, so he lets out a quiet, “Fuck it.” Before letting actions speak.
His free hand went to the back of Cas’s neck to hold him as their lips crashed together. Dean knew Cas could pull away whenever he wanted with his angel strength, but he also knew Cas was letting Dean take the lead in this. Letting Dean push him up against the dresser and kiss him with panic but also so much love. Cause he loves him. He loves Cas. He was so fucking in love with him that it drove him crazy at times, but he couldn’t imagine doing this domestic life with anybody else.
“I love you.” Dean finally breaths against Cas’s lips. It overwhelmed him to finally have those words said aloud while Cas’s hands were burning his skin from under his shirt, but it also made him feel lighter. To say the words he wanted to scream. “I love you so much, Cas.”
Cas’s grip loosened for a second before it tightened, and Dean took that opportunity to open his eyes to look at him. To read the unreadable.
He leans back to see Cas’s baby blue’s water.
“Cas?”
Cas responds with a few blinks, tears falling freely now, as his expression softens at his name. “Yes?” One of Cas’s hands reached to slowly caress Dean’s face as if trying to see if this was real. If Dean was real.
“Kinda pouring my heart out here, buddy, maybe wanna respond?” Dean turns his head just enough to press a kiss to Cas’s palm, hearing Cas let out a small gasp.
“I’m confused. This morning you left telling me you were gonna kick my ass for sending you to the preschool, and now,” Cas leans forward, slowly and hesitantly, but Dean didn’t move. He closes his eyes and waits until their lips met again. Feeling his heart pound and breath catch as the kiss was softer this time. His head flooded with so much want, but Cas quickly pulls away as he continued, “And now I can do that.”
“Yeah,” Dean’s eyes flutter open as he clears his throat. “Yeah, Momma had a little push from the milf’s this morning, and I just realized that I want— I want you. I want us to be together like a real family. Cause I love you and-and, it would be nice if you fucking said it back sometime soon.”
Cas laughs a low chuckle that made Dean’s toes curl as he leans forward again to press their noses together. “I love you too, Dean.”
“Took you long enough.” Dean was going in for another kiss, but the car horn made them both jump. “Shit, our kid still in the car.”
Dean leaves a kiss on Cas’s cheek, feeling more intimate than the last few kisses. “Get ready. I’ll wait for you in the car.” Dean didn’t meet Cas’s eyes as his blush rose to his cheeks.

“Cady, first practice is after school in the gym today,” Regina says at lunch.
“Already? Tryouts were only yesterday,” Cady says.
“We need to start practicing, the first game is in two weeks,” Regina tuts. “Is that an issue?”
“No! No, uh… I’ll just let my mom know. I’ll be there,” Cady stutters anxiously. She pulls out her phone to text her parents and let them know to pick her up late. “Um, what time will we be done?”
“Four,” Gretchen says kindly. “Ish.”
“I’ll take you home. We should take you to the mall, update your wardrobe,” Regina says. It’s not a question. Cady isn’t sure how her parents will feel about it, but she gets the feeling it’s better to deal with whatever her parents will do than the wrath of Regina George.
“Thanks,” Cady says gratefully. She gets the information sent to her parents and clicks her phone back off. “So, um… who all is on the team?”
“The four of us, Sophie Kowachi, Dawn Schweitzer, and Rachel Hamilton are varsity,” Karen says. “We don’t really talk about junior varsity. Sonja Acquino is the mascot. Oh, and Damian Hubbard is varsity too, I forgot about him.”
Regina snorts when she hears his name. Cady looks at her in confusion. “Why is that funny?”
“Can’t you tell? He’s a total weirdo. Him and his little art freak,” Regina titters. “Both flaming gays. Shame it’s in the wrong direction, those two freaks would’ve been perfect for each other.”
Cady looks where she’s pointing and sees the punk girl from first period math she saw on her first day sitting across from a tall boy. He’s facing away from her, so she can only make out his curly brown hair and pink plaid flannel.
Anyone who wears flannel can’t be so bad. They seem a little lonely all alone there, sure, but Cady can’t sense anything inherently bad about them. Then again, she couldn’t sense anything bad about her friends, either, and they’re already showing their true colors.
“Who’s that girl?”
“Janis Sarkisian. Damian’s little… friend,” Regina says.
“Janis and Regina were best friends in middle school,” Gretchen says. Cady looks back over at her. She finds that really hard to believe. Janis doesn’t seem the type.
“She’s so weird, she was, like, totally obsessed with me,” Regina says, obnoxiously smacking her lips after a swipe of gloss. “Guess we know why, now.”
“O-oh-” Cady stutters.
“She’s totally gay!” Gretchen butts in.
“That’s, um…”
“I mean, she was my best friend, but she started getting, like, really weirdly jealous of my boyfriend at the time,” Regina hums. “Like, texting me all the time when I blew her off to hang out with him and stuff like that.”
Isn’t that normal? Cady wonders desperately. “How weird,” she says instead.
“Yeah. And then for my thirteenth birthday I had a pool party at this really nice hotel and my mom said I could only have, like, six people so I couldn’t invite her and she totally freaked out. Like, lost it, freaked out. She’s got problems,” Regina continues. “Everyone thinks she’s good at art but it’s just because she had to go to art therapy.”
“Yeah. And after that her parents pulled her out of school and we haven’t talked to her since. She came back freshman year looking like that,” Gretchen says, barking a laugh.
“Weird,” Cady says again. In the best way.
————
Cady’s less of a stumbling baby giraffe today, actually managing to make it to all her classes on time and only getting lost once on her way to chemistry. Her teacher is, luckily, very understanding. He seems… eccentric, which is exciting for a chemistry class.
Her only other afternoon class is calculus. Sweet, sweet calculus. Ms. Norbury is rapidly becoming her favorite teacher. She’s awkward, but in a funny way, and somehow manages to keep a bunch high schoolers engaged in admittedly quite dull calculations (not that Cady would ever think so, of course). Cady was engaged in it anyway, but she’s even more interested with a teacher like Ms. Norbury.
She’s early today, plopping into her seat by the window a few rows back from the board. She takes her time unpacking her notebook and pencil as she looks around the classroom.
Cady almost jumps out of her skin when she looks back in front of her. Hello.
A tall boy sits directly in front of her, and she finds herself not really minding that he blocks most of her view of the board. Who needs calculus when you can stare at that swoopy hair?
She tries to stop her eyebrows shooting up her forehead when he turns to face her. Holy handsome, batman. She vaguely registers his lips moving. Talking. He’s talking to me. Shit.
“Sorry, what?” she asks, shaking her head to try to snap herself out of it. Whatever it is.
“It’s cool. Do you have a pencil I can borrow?” the boy asks. Cady wordlessly hands the one she was already holding over. He nods in thanks and turns back around.
Jesus, Cady thinks, resting her chin in her hand. She’s definitely not just watching him. Not at all.
“You’re new, right?” he asks, turning back around. He peeks at her name written in Sharpie on the cover of her notebook. “Caddy? I’m Aaron.”
“It’s Cady,” she says quietly. He nods.
“Cady. Cool name.”
“Thanks,” Cady grins. “I got it for my birthday.”
She has to resist the urge to smack her hand against her face. Stupid. But, lucky for her, Aaron just laughs.
The bell rings then, and Ms. Norbury begins the lesson. Cady pulls an extra pencil out of her bag and focuses in. This class suddenly seems much less interesting by comparison.
Oh boy. Literally.
—————
Cady’s father drops off a pair of shorts and a tank top for her at the end of the day so she doesn’t have to go to practice in her flannel and jeans again. Thank goodness Regina, Gretchen, and Karen are going to help her with her fashion sense. She sticks out like a sore thumb in her frumpy flannels and hand-me-down vests.
She gets changed in the locker room, shoving her backpack into one of the available lockers and snatching her water bottle before she jogs out to the gym.
Everyone is already started on warm ups by the time she gets to them. She looks around at her new teammates. The boy who came to talk to her yesterday, Damian, is one of three boys and the only one who made varsity. Cady recognizes some of the other girls from tryouts. They all seem nice enough.
She heads to her friends, who are doing some jumping jacks and arm circles for their warmups.
“Hey, sorry I’m late,” Cady says when she makes it. “I had AP Calc last period.”
The math wing is about as far away from the gym as you can get at North Shore High. The building has an odd shape, and the math wing is the most recent addition to it. Unfortunately for Cady, there’s no quick way back to the main area of the building, which means there’s no quick way to the gym.
“Calculus? Isn’t that a senior class?” Gretchen asks.
“Technically, I think so. There’s a few other juniors, though. I just had to take a bunch of placement tests when I moved here and I tested into advanced math classes,” Cady explains. She decides to leave out explaining that she picked calculus because it’s what she did for fun back in Kenya.
“Just don’t let it happen again,” Regina replies. Her tone has Cady scared for her life. Maybe running all the way from calculus every day can be her warm ups.
“I won’t. Sorry, Regina.”
Since Cady was late, she’s still warming up by the time everyone else has moved on to stretching.
She knows she’s technically not supposed to, but everyone else did a quick tumbling pass as part of their warm up. She knows what the gym is like now, and how it impacts her tumbling. She has about a 99% chance of not breaking her neck, and decides those odds are good enough.
So, she kicks off with a roundoff and begins, flying and flipping her way across the gym. She’s so focused on her landings and form and making sure she doesn’t crash into the wall that she totally misses everyone yelling at her to watch out.
Cady only comes back to herself when she suddenly can’t move. Because she’s in someone’s arms.
She looks up to see the girl Regina had been talking about at lunch, who had been sitting with Damian. Cady also recognizes her from her… chemistry class, maybe?
She has a solid grip on Cady, but it’s somehow gentle at the same time. Her hand is warm and soft, almost… electric, against Cady’s bare thigh. Cady is so fascinated by the girl’s stunning eyes and heavy makeup that she almost forgets where they are.
“Nice catch!” Cady begins when she comes back to herself. “Sorry about that, are you okay?”
“Uh… yeah. Yeah, I’m fine,” the girl replies with a shy smile. She ever so carefully pops Cady back onto her feet and takes her phone when Cady hands it to her. “Nice… um… flippy thing.”
“Thanks,” Cady giggles. Something about this girl is so intriguing. Cady might not remember her name, but still. She realizes after a beat that she should apologize about… everything that’s just happened. “I really am sorry, I should’ve paid more attention before I started tumbling.”
Cady just hopes her Kenyan observational instincts aren’t fading already. She’s not sure she could handle that.
“No, I wasn’t here when you started. My fault,” the girl replies with a shy chuckle. Cady finds herself wondering what it sounds like when she really laughs, full and clear. She snaps back to the real world when the girl continues, “I was in the locker room and walked in your way.”
Cady didn’t remember seeing her at tryouts yesterday. She feels her brow furrow and her head tilt as she asks, “Locker room? Are you on the team too?”
Not that that would be a problem, she adds in her head. But it’s hard to imagine the punk girl in front of her with pompoms in her hands.
“Not this one,” the girl says. “I’m on the football team.”
That explains it, Cady thinks. “Really?”
“Yep. First girl ever on the team,” the girl explains. She’s obviously very proud of herself. And Cady finds herself feeling a weird sense of pride, too.
“That’s really cool, um…” What is her name?
“Janis,” the girl says. Cady tries to hold back an, ‘Oh yeah!’
“That’s really cool, Janis,” she says instead. “I’m Cady.”
She’s confused when Janis exclaims, “That’s it!” until she explains, “Sorry, uh… Damian, there, is my best friend. He tells me about you guys sometimes. I couldn’t remember what he said your name was.”
Uh oh, Cady thinks. What has he told you about me? About them? About us? What does he think of me, what do you know?
“Oh!” she says, stamping down the growing panic inside her and trying to force a bright smile. “He’s really nice.” So far.
“Yeah,” Janis sighs, looking fondly at her friend. “He can be.”
What does that mean is that a threat oh god, Cady panics harder.
Before Cady can spiral too hard, Regina hollers, “Cady, stop talking to that dyke and get over here, we need to get back to work!”
Cady and Janis both freeze at the d-word. Cady doesn’t know what it means, but judging by the pained flash in Janis’ eyes and the way her shoulders tense, it’s nothing good.
Cady isn’t sure what to do, she wants to stay, apologize for Regina, keep talking to Janis, but Regina’s wrath grows with every passing second.
So Cady starts walking backwards back to her squad, hesitantly. Both because she doesn’t want to leave, and also because walking backwards seldom ends well for her.
She mouths a, “Sorry.” as she heads away. Janis smiles a bit.
“It’s fine. I have my own practice I’m late for anyway,” Janis says quietly, so Regina won’t know Cady apologized.
Cady gives her a small wave before she runs the rest of the way back to her team, going into her splits next to Gretchen to get her muscles stretched out.
“What did she want?” Gretchen asks eagerly.
“Nothing, I don’t think. She just caught me and said I did a nice job,” Cady answers.
“She didn’t like… grope you, or anything?”
“No! No, of course not,” Cady says immediately. “It was just a weird thing. I’ll probably never talk to her again.”
“Best not to, with her,” Regina says. “She’ll sink her claws in and drag you down with her. Stick with us.”
Alarm bells go off in Cady’s head as she switches legs, but she chooses to switch them off.
A paper is thrust in front of her as she stretches into her middle split, making her jump. She grabs it and peeks at it, finding it contains the words to all of their cheers. Cady’s glad to have a physical reference this time, rather than desperately trying to follow the crowd like she had to at tryouts.
The cheers seem simple enough. A few of them go in tandem with songs played by the marching band at certain points in the game, so the timing will probably get tricky, but the words are easy enough to remember. A lot of ‘blue and yellow’, ‘let’s go lions’, ‘beat them’ and repeating ‘NSHS’ over and over. Even Cady can handle that.
She quickly learns that the halftime show is where things get dicey.
A good chunk of it is the marching band’s responsibility, but it’s also the cheer squad’s time to shine. Regina and the coach explain their goals for the choreography that they’ll work up to over the course of the season, and it doesn’t sound like Cady’s feet will be touching the ground very much. Great.
“Now, Cady, how flexible is your back?” Regina hums.
God, help.
—-
She’s not sure whether to be relieved or not when practice is finally over and she’s released out to change and go shopping with her friends.
“Get in, loser,” Regina yells, pulling up in front of the building where she told Cady to meet them. “We’re going to the mall.”
“I’ve never been to a mall before,” Cady admits as she climbs into the backseat of Regina’s convertible next to Karen.
“You are so cute,” Regina hums. Something in her tone tells Cady it’s not a compliment.
“It’s just, like, a bunch of stores all in the same building,” Karen explains. Cady is oddly glad for her presence.
“Oh. That sounds fun,” Cady says. “Oh, but I didn’t bring any money, I won’t… be able to get anything.”
“Just pay us back later. You need stuff,” Gretchen says, tossing her dark hair over her shoulder.
“You guys don’t have to do that,” Cady says sheepishly.
“Yes, we do,” they all say at the same time.
“We’re all rich, money face emoji. It’s not a big deal,” Karen shrugs.
“Oh. Well, thank you. I’ll pay you back as soon as I can.”
—-
Cady is immediately overwhelmed when they walk into the mall. It’s so bright, and loud. Everything is white and shiny. It gives her a headache almost instantly.
And then there’s the people. Most of them seem to be crowding around a fountain feature on the first floor. Cady leans against the railing to observe. She finds herself flashing back to watching the wildlife around the watering hole back home. It’s not quite a comforting reminder. More… threatening.
“Cady, come on,” Regina yells from a ways away. Cady snaps her head up to see where her friends have gone before she goes running after them. “We should start with Zara.”
“We had a zebra named Zara,” Cady recalls absently.
“Is it true that zebras are part tiger?” Karen asks.
“Um… no,” Cady says gently. Where did she hear that? “They’re totally different species.”
Karen looks confused and goes quiet. Cady frowns, sad she’s upset her new friend.
“Um… they have stripes for similar reasons, though,” she says gently. “Zebras have them to hide from predators and tigers’ are to camouflage them from prey while they hunt. So… you were… close?”
“Ooh!” Karen says. She runs a couple steps ahead to inform Gretchen of her new discovery, leaving Cady trailing after the three of them.
The actual ‘shopping’ part happens in a whirlwind, as her friends ask her sizes and run off in different directions, grabbing tight tops and short skirts and shoes that look like weapons. Cady spends most of the time standing aimlessly in the middle of the stores waiting for them to return.
Most of the clothes they bring back aren’t… totally her vibe, or what she’d choose to wear. The fabrics are itchy and cling to her in a way that makes her feel uncomfortable. But as she pulls away the curtain of the changing room to show her friends outfit after outfit, she finds herself liking the clothes more and more. Her friends clap and squeal when she finds something good, and delicately let her know when a color or cut doesn’t suit her. She blends in now. She’s camouflaged.
Cady leaves carrying a mountain of shopping bags, stumbling back out to Regina’s car and wondering how this is all going to fit long enough for them to drive back home.
Somehow, they make it work, and Cady breathes a sigh of relief knowing she has a whole new wardrobe that should make her high school career a little bit easier.
She just hopes it didn’t cost too much.
—-
“Hey, Binti, how was-wow,” her dad says as Cady shoves her way through the door after her friends drop her off back home. Your house is so adorable, Regina had said. Cady isn’t sure how she feels about that.
“Hi, Dad,” she pants.
“Have a little shopping spree, did we?”
“Oh. Uh, yeah, my friends took me to the mall,” Cady says shyly. “New clothes.”
“Did you have fun?” her dad asks, leading her to the kitchen and tossing a pack of cookies her way. Cady fumbles catching it, but smiles as she picks it up from the ground. She still isn’t totally used to having whatever food she wants right at her fingertips. Cookies aren’t exactly abundant in the Kenyan wilderness.
“Yeah, I did. They’re nice,” Cady says. “They want to help me fit in more.”
“Well, that’s nice of them,” her dad says. “Just so long as you don’t forget to stand out, too. Package came for you, by the way.”
Cady jumps a bit as a large box is plopped on the counter in front of her, almost choking on her Chips Ahoy. “Whoa.”
“Open it open it open it,” her dad says childishly. “Come on, I wanna see.”
“I don’t even know what’s in it,” Cady giggles, carefully taking the knife her dad hands her and slicing through the tape. Her dad pulls one of the flaps aside to peek in. “Oh, my cheer stuff!”
She giggles as her dad pulls out the large clip-on bow and places it in his short hair. “What do you think? Go… team. What do you cheerleaders say?”
“I dunno, I only had my first practice today,” Cady laughs, gently pulling the bow out of his hair. “You should think about bows as part of your wardrobe.”
“I think my patients might have some qualms with that,” her dad chortles. He watches as Cady pulls out her blue and yellow top and skort, along with her special shoes and another bow. One is for home games and the other is for away games, but she’s not sure which bow is which.
“Hey, my pompoms!” Cady says happily. “They’re so sparkly!”
“Oh, yes,” her dad says, taking one and hunting for the handle hidden amongst the shiny blue and gold foil strips. He shakes it around once he’s got a grip on it and they both laugh at the ruffling sound it makes.
“And… my bag for all my stuff!” Cady says, pulling out the black bag embroidered with her name in a fancy white font with some pompoms beneath it. It even has a special clip just to hold her pompoms without smushing them. Her dad peeks into the box to see if Cady missed anything.
“They want you to buy more stuff?”
“I think it’s to fund the sports programs?” Cady says. She looks at the order form for more cheer squad merch that isn’t part of her uniform. T-shirts, sweatshirts, even scrunchies.  “Can I get some stuff?”
“Well, if it’s for funding, I don’t see why not,” her dad shrugs. “For now, though, homework, Monkey.”
“Okay. I’ll be in my room,” Cady says, giving her dad a hug and running upstairs.
————-
Two weeks fly by much faster than Cady expects. There’s a lot of pressure on her shoulders as the head cheerleader. She doesn’t even want to think about how much pressure Regina is feeling as team captain.
She’s gotten to know Damian rather well, since he’s in charge of stopping her from falling to the ground and cracking her head open. Coach made them spend a lot of time working on trust exercises, since it’s important for Cady to trust the people throwing her several feet in the air. She likes him, and he seems to like her. Maybe she read him wrong.
He hasn’t dropped her yet, at any rate. She takes that as a good sign.
—-
On the day of the game, Cady puts on her whole uniform for the first time. Apparently the whole squad wears their uniform to school on game days, and the football team wear their jerseys.
Her mom helps her tie her hair half-up and clip her bow in (the blue one, which she’s learned is the one for home games). She grabs her book bag and runs out the door as Regina lays on the horn.
-
Cady feels the excitement building throughout the whole school day. It’s finally happening, her very first game.
And, she gets to see Aaron in his jersey for the first time. So cute.
He turns around again to look at her as she slides into her seat behind him. “Hey.”
“Hi,” Cady says shyly. “You look nice.”
“Uh…” Aaron says, looking down at his jersey. “Thanks. You look cute.”
“Thanks,” Cady grins, trying not to blush.
“Didn’t know you were a cheerleader.”
“Oh, yeah,” Cady says, sheepishly tugging on the hem of her blue skirt. She wonders how the entire cheer team gets away with this every week. The uniform is nowhere close to meeting the dress code. “I grew up tumbling, and my friends are all on the team, so they let me try out.”
“Cool,” Aaron says, shooting her a grin. “Hey, uh… my friend is having a party tonight to celebrate the season starting, would you wanna come?”
“Me?” Cady asks shyly.
“Yeah. It’d be cool if you were there,” Aaron says. “Whole football team is going, and most of the cheerleaders. You should come. Surprised nobody else invited you yet, if your friends are on the squad. But, yeah. You should come.”
“I will,” Cady says with a smile. “Thanks.”
Aaron just nods and turns back around, leaving Cady to grin and blush at her notebook.
——-
Regina invites her over before the game to help Cady get ready. Cady barely has enough time to go home to drop off her school backpack and pick up her cheer things before she has to run to Regina’s house in the next neighborhood over.
A woman in a bright pink tracksuit pulls the door open in the middle of Cady trying to find the doorbell. Regina’s house is huge. The porch alone looks like the entrance to the Buckingham Palace.
“Oh, hi! You must be Cady, come in, come in!” Pink Woman says. “I’ve heard so much about you!”
Cady grunts a little bit as she’s pulled into a very tight hug, crushed against the woman’s chest. Which, for some reason, is rock solid. Might wanna get that checked out.
“I’m Mrs. George, I’m Regina’s mom. You can call me Sabrina, welcome!”
“Um… thank you, Sabrina,” Cady says shyly.
“Aww, you are just so cute! The girls are in Regina’s room upstairs, you’re just in time. I made tacos for you girls. Oh, and if you need anything, just tell them to ask me. I have been through it all.”
Cady is more than a little concerned, wondering what that could mean. Either way, she has no doubt that the woman is telling the truth.
“Thank you,” she says again. “Um… where is Regina’s room?”
“Upstairs and to the right. Her door has her name on it. Bright pink, you can’t miss it,” Mrs. George says. Cady takes off her shoes and takes the first few steps.
“Thanks.”
“Anytime, honey. Tell Regina I want pictures before you leave!”
-
Cady knocks on Regina’s door when she finds it, earning herself a strange look when the blonde herself pulls it open. “Hey, Cady.”
“Hey,” Cady echoes, joining her as she steps into the room. It’s huge, and almost wall-to-wall pink in varying shades. Whoa. “Your room is really nice.”
“Thanks,” Regina hums. “It was my parents’ room, but I made them trade me.”
And they let you? Cady asks herself desperately. “Uh… that’s… um… cool.”
She gets another weird look for stuttering, but Regina shrugs and turns back to Gretchen and Karen who are already there. “You can put your bag anywhere. Gretchen, move.”
Gretchen scrambles out of the chair in front of Regina’s vanity, making room for Regina to sit. Cady sheepishly sets her bag by the door.
“Cady! Hey, have a taco,” Karen greets as if nothing has happened. Maybe nothing has, to her. Maybe this is normal. Regardless, Cady grins and gently sits next to her on Regina’s hot pink bed.
“Don’t get rice in my bed, losers,” Regina huffs, swiping some blush onto her cheeks.
“We won’t,” Cady says immediately. She knows she won’t. You have to be a careful eater in Kenya, or risk attracting pests. Karen, however, surreptitiously swipes some grains out of the sheets while Regina has her back turned. She and Cady share a sly grin before looking back over.
“Alright, Cady, eat quick, we need to get you made up and everything,” Regina says, snapping the pallet closed and putting it back where it belongs.
“Made up?”
“We all have to look the same, Cady. Part of the uniform,” Regina tuts. “If you don’t have anything on your face the lights in the stadium will wash you out and nobody will be able to see your face.”
“Oh,” Cady says with a nod. “I’m… really not good at makeup. I don’t have any.”
“That’s why you’re here,” Gretchen says with a cheshire grin. “Girl squad, we totally can’t leave you to struggle through your first cheer makeup alone! It’s a rite of passage.”
“Thanks,” Cady grins back. She stumbles a bit as Gretchen hauls her up and over to the vanity before shoving her down in the cushy chair. “Whoa.”
“Your skin is so nice, what is your skincare routine?” Regina asks, tilting her face from side to side while Gretchen puts a little headband on her to keep any flyaways away from the masterpiece her face is about to become.
“Um… I just… wash it. I wear sunscreen,” Cady says sheepishly. “Nothing crazy.”
“You are so lucky,” Gretchen sighs. She holds a bottle of what Cady thinks is foundation up to her cheek. “Is this close to her color?”
“No, that’s too pale, that’ll make her look like a fucking ghost, Gretch,” Regina huffs. “This one.”
Cady blinks in shock as a sponge suddenly starts dabbing makeup all over her face, but she relaxes into the repetitive tapping and closes her eyes.
At one point all three of them are doing something. Regina does her eyeshadow while Karen swipes a lipstick on her, and Gretchen handles trying to work her curls into a high ponytail and getting her bow securely fastened.
Regina applies a small sticker to her cheek just beneath the outer corner of her eye, and she’s done. All three of her friends step back and allow her to check herself out in the mirror.
“You look so pretty,” Gretchen coos.
“What do you think?” Regina asks as Cady stands and leans in to the mirror.
Cady isn’t sure how she feels about what she sees.
It feels like a mask, almost. Her freckles are totally gone, covered in layers of itchy foundation. A bit of bronzer and blush make her look a bit more alive instead of one flat color. Her eyes are caked in royal blue and glittery gold eyeshadow, along with thick winged eyeliner and a lot of black mascara, which does make her blue-green eyes pop, if she does say so herself. Small gems rest on the inner corners of each eye, and she has the small blue star that Regina put on as the finishing touch.
“I love it,” Cady says. “Thank you guys.”
Maybe she can get used to this.
She’s left to carefully finish her tacos while her friends work on their own makeup and curl their hair. Cady observes while she munches, watching her friends primp and prime before they grab their cheer bags and head out. Cady wolfs down her last bite and grabs hers, running out the door after them.
“Regina, wait, I need pictures!” Sabrina insists, running to the porch after them.
“Mommy, we don’t have time for pictures, we’re gonna be late,” Regina growls.
“Oh, baby girl, there’s always time for pictures,” her mom chuckles. “Get your tiny butts back over here.”
“You get ten,” Regina insists. “That’s it.”
Cady thinks she might be the only one with a genuine smile for the photos as her friends crowd together and wrap their arms around each other, striking some cute poses and smiling at Mrs. George’s phone.
Cady has her arm around Regina’s shoulder, and feels her relax a little bit as her little sister, Kylie, does goofy dances behind Mrs. George to make them laugh. It’s almost weird, seeing something make Regina… human.
“Okay, gotta go, bye,” Regina says once she’s decided they’ve had enough. It was nice while it lasted.
————-
Cady looks around in awe at the stadium all lit up, crowds of parents and students and friends swarming up the bleachers on both sides to watch. She’s been here before, but Cady is still overwhelmed seeing it in full swing for the first time.
Her parents came to watch her cheer for the very first time, so she gives them quick hugs and waves as she sees them find a good spot on the bleachers.
She has a split second between that and the start of it all to warm up and stretch, and takes full advantage of it, knowing she’ll really be hurting later if she doesn’t.
She takes her spot on the track, facing the home crowd and armed with her pompoms, and it begins.
The band kicks up with their school’s fight song, and Cady feels her muscle memory kick in as she starts dancing along with her squad. It was exhausting at the time, but she’s glad now to have had so much practice time. She knows if she hadn’t she would be totally lost right about now, what with all the dizzying stimuli around her. Thank you, muscle memory.
————
Cady feels like she blinks and the game is over,  first victory of the season in the books. She packs her things back into her backpack and tugs her varsity jacket on, now that the sun has gone down and it’s a chilly evening.
“Cady, over here!” Aaron calls as she makes her way to the parking lot. “Hey, you need a ride?”
“Oh, yeah! Um… can I say bye to my parents real quick?”
“Yeah, of course. Take your time,” Aaron says, looking at her fondly.
Cady gives him a grateful smile and runs off to find her parents. She finds them as they escape the dense crowd of people filing out of the gates. “Hey!”
“Monkey, you did amazing!” her dad says. He blinks in shock when he sees her face. “Wow. Nice makeup.”
“Thanks,” Cady says shyly, hugging them both.
“You really did do very well, Binti. We’re very proud of you,” her mother says, squeezing Cady gently.
“Thanks, Mommy,” Cady grins. “So, um… my whole squad is going to this party to celebrate the win and the season starting, can I go too? My friends will be there and I have a ride.”
Her parents look at each other, having a conversation without words. Cady watches, anxiously rubbing her upper arm as she waits for their response.
“You have your phone? Location turned on?” her dad asks. Cady nods. “Keep it on. No drugs, no boys, nothing stupid. Stay with your friends and text us regularly.”
“Okay,” Cady agrees immediately. “I can go?”
“Yes, you can go,” her mother sighs. “Just be safe.”
“I will. Love you, bye!”
Cady goes running back over to Aaron with a wide smile on her face.
“Sorry about that,” she says. “They worry, and… stuff. Homeschooled weirdo, and all that.”
“It’s chill,” Aaron says with a smirk. Unlike the ones she’s seen from Regina, this one doesn’t seem malicious at all. “It’s sweet. Uh, anyway, let’s get going.”
“Yeah, absolutely,” Cady says. Aaron gestures for her to throw her cheer bag in the backseat and slide in the passenger seat next to him. “Thanks for driving me. Your car is really nice.”
“Thanks,” Aaron says. “Had to have a nice one for her. Lucky I got to keep it after we broke up.”
Cady gets the sense from his tone that asking about this her is not the brightest of ideas. “Oh, I’m sorry, I didn’t mean-”
“No, no, Cady. It’s not you. It’s… in the past now,” Aaron sighs. “Stupid.”
“Stupid with love,” Cady agrees softly. “So… you… don’t…”
“Nah,” Aaron says with a shake of his head, seeming to know what she was trying to ask. “If that’s love, it’s not something I want. Trying so hard to impress, to be… cool, but I just… ended up acting like a tool.”
“That rhymed!” Cady says unthinkingly. She claps a hand over her mouth, trying to swallow back any more word vomit that might escape. “I am so sorry.”
Aaron laughs. Cady smiles back shyly. It’s a nice sound. “You’re fun.”
“I am?”
“Yeah. Funny, too. You notice shit nobody else does, it’s cool,” Aaron says.
“Oh. Thank you,” Cady says sheepishly. “You’re cool too. You don’t have to try.”
“Thanks,” Aaron replies, looking away from the road briefly to smile at her. “Anyway. Tragic backstory, I’m swearing off of dating-”
“You’re what?!” Cady interrupts, trying to keep the hysteria out of her voice. Way to keep this under wraps, Cady. “Sorry, that, um… didn’t come out right. But, swearing off of dating?”
“It’s cool,” Aaron says with a small chuckle. “It’s too much work. Like I said, if love is like that, not something I want. For now anyway.”
Shit, Cady grumbles internally. “That’s… um… probably a good choice.” No, it’s not. This is the worst possible choice. “People at North Shore are…”
“Nuts,” Aaron chuckles. “One way or another. It’s a lot.”
“It is,” Cady responds. “Makes me feel like I’m right back on the savanna.”
“Really?”
“Yeah,” Cady says. “More similar than you would think.”
“Huh,” Aaron chuckles slightly. “Hey, you good? You look kinda peaky.”
“Yeah, I’m fine,” Cady says anxiously, surreptitiously wiping her sweaty hands on her skirt. “I just… I’ve never been to a party before. I don’t know what to expect, and everything. Feels like when I was in charge of feeding the hippos.”
“Hippos?”
“They’re dangerous,” Cady insists. “A hippo would rip you to bits in one bite and never once hesitate.”
“Duly noted,” Aaron says. “Well, if it makes you feel better, there won’t be any hippos. Just a lot of dumb teenagers doing dumb teenager shit. You’ll be fine.”
“But what if they think I’m weird?” Cady whispers anxiously. “I’m sixteen and I’ve never been to a party. I’m a homeschooled jungle freak who’s never even been to a party that’s indoors.”
“Then they think you’re weird,” Aaron shrugs. “Not like they’re not weird too. Everyone is. And most of them will be too wasted to notice you, anyway.”
“Oh,” Cady says. She doesn’t have any more time to prepare as Aaron pulls to the side of a crowded street and puts the car in park. Cady slides her phone into the pocket of her shorts and follows him to the house.
“It’s my friend Chris’ place,” he says, having to shout a bit over the loud music blaring from inside. “C’mon.”
Cady does, following him through the unlocked front door and into the loudest experience of her life.
It’s not entirely unlike the savanna during mating season. Crowded, loud. Crazy.
“Whoa,” she whispers. Aaron gently rests a hand on her shoulder and guides her down the hall towards the living room. Cady thinks she distantly sees Regina watching them, and she doesn’t look happy.
Much to her relief, Aaron doesn’t leave. He finds an empty spot against the wall to lean against, motioning for Cady to join him. Cady does, and they make light conversation for a while as Cady adjusts to where she is.
“Do you want a drink?” Aaron asks after a while.
“Like… alcohol?” Cady asks shyly.
“If you want,” Aaron chuckles. “Don’t have to if you don’t want to, there’s soda too.”
“No, I, um… why not? I’ll try it,” Cady says. She can’t have him thinking she’s a total baby. How much damage could one drink do?
“Sick. Wait here, I’ll be right back,” Aaron says, pushing off the wall and heading to the kitchen.
Cady looks around as she’s left alone, trying not to hunch in on herself like a total hermit. Be cool. You’re a cheerleader and friends with the queen of the school, you got this.
“Hey,” Regina says, coming to take the place Aaron just vacated. Speak of the devil.
“Hey,” Cady echoes with a small smile.
“What are you doing here?”
Cady bristles a bit. “Oh, um… Aaron… Samuels invited me. We have calculus together.”
“He did? That’s so sweet,” Regina coos, sickly sweet saccharin practically dripping from the words. It leaves a bad taste in Cady’s mouth. She knows enough to know Regina doesn’t mean it. Artificially sweetened.
“Um, yeah,” Cady replies. “Sorry for crashing.”
“Oh, no, it’s totally fine,” Regina scoffs. “Not my party, anyway. We just didn’t invite you because we didn’t know how you would feel about parties like this. Since you were homeschooled.”
“That makes sense,” Cady nods. “I like it so far. But thanks for thinking of that.”
Regina raises an eyebrow at her. Cady feels like she’s under a microscope, every aspect of her being analyzed by the queen bee. Did I say something wrong?
“You’re welcome,” Regina says after a beat. “I gotta go. Love ya.”
With a two finger kiss blown Cady’s way, she’s gone, leaving Cady alone once more. Cady relaxes, the smallest bit of tension leaving her body. She hadn’t even noticed it was there in the first place.
“Hey, new girl,” a boy calls to her. Cady turns to see one of the guys from the football team headed towards her. What’s his name? Shane, or something. “Aaron got caught up, told me to give this to you.”
“Oh! Thanks,” Cady giggles. She takes the offered solo cup and a solid swig of whatever’s inside. It’s a little bit salty, but not bad. “Nice job tonight.”
“Thanks,” Shane replies. “You weren’t so bad yourself.”
“Thanks,” Cady echoes. Her head is pounding, suddenly. Huh. She takes another swig of the drink to clear her head. “Is there alcohol in this?”
“Yeah, he said you wanted some,” Shane says, his eyebrows furrowing in concern. “I can get you a soda.”
“No, no, it’s… ‘s okay,” Cady says. Man, how quick does this stuff work? “I like it.”
She chugs down the rest of her drink. How do people drink more than this? She’s already impossibly dizzy. A nap sounds very nice right about now.
“I need to-to go to-“
“Hey, you good?” Shane asks.
“Yeah, yeah, just… dizzy,” Cady says in confusion. Is the room spinning or just her? “Where’s… where’s… bathroom?”
“Here, let me help you there,” Shane says, gently hoisting her off the ground and carrying her down the hall.
She’s rested on a bed, and it all goes dark.

ITS BEEN A HELL OF A TWO MONTHS, YALL. Family problems, health problems, disabled problems, this summer sucks lol I read a lot this month thanks to the readathon, so I get some of the good brain juices from that little accomplishment. One month closer to my best friends wedding which I am so excited for,  discovered I like mango so long as it’s not fresh (so candied, dried, jellied), figured out the right card combo to get high scores in SIF, there were good things peppered throughout the bad. Still wish life didn’t happen so fast.

I left non fiction books unrated because it feels weird to rate Real Things. SFAH is a very good resource, especially if you’re new to cooking. A lot of it was stuff I already new, but it had me thinking about it in different ways, which is always good. The recipes are also easy to follow and I love the pull out flavor charts.
I finished The Magnus Archives in May and I loved it so much it took everything I had not to immediately start it again. I still might though. I miss Jon and Martin and Basira and Melanie and
I listened to an entire season and then some of The Penumbra Podcast and decided it was Not For Me. It’s Fine and I see what they were going for, but I wasn’t enjoying it. Walks were no longer fun. I thought it was because I enjoyed TMA so much, I was comparing it, like when I was reading Project Hail Mary all I could think was “I’d rather be reading Murderbot”, but sometimes! That’s because the thing you’re consuming isn’t fun! And that’s okay! Also hated that it was a mostly funny and slapstick show and then they blew up a cat.
Started Alpha Sapphire, but I’m taking my time with it. Sapphire was my favorite game growing up, my best friend (WHO IS GETTING MARRIED I LOVE HER) gave it to me in sixth grade and I swear I put a good 900 hours into it AT LEAST. And then another, different also besty friend got me Alpha Sapphire for my birthday this year and I get to repeat the process. It means so much to me, my friends as always are a shining light in my life, I love yall so much.
I have stomach issues again and my mom is dealing with Gross Smells (don’t know if it’s covid related, neither of us ever tested positive), so food hasn’t been a big thing recently. The peach pie was less a pie and more a bowl of peaches with pie crust on top (can’t have a soggy bottom if you don’t have a bottom). It was still good and I still ate it all, don’t get me wrong, but it’s less fun when others can’t enjoy it with you.
July goals? I don’t know lol SIF finally closed up their anniversary events so I look forward to not playing that as often. I’d like to do some art this month since crocheting is still painful and cooking isn’t the same when it’s just me. I need a creative outlet. I need to send off a gift box and get wedding shoes (why is shoe shopping so hard), I want to read the stack of books on my desk (leftovers from the Readathon and library books and books I’m Maybe Feeling Like Reading), I’d like to do another puzzle, and since I’ve finally discovered a way that audibooks work for me, I can read AND puzzle at the same time! Life hacked!
Here’s to July, may you get your shit together.

“Am I a chaotic mom?” Rosemary said. “If you call protecting your kids, cheering them on at the playground, and threatening other parents for them, being a 'Chaotic mom.'? Then, yes. I am a chaotic Mom.”
“She's been asked to not attend Jace's piano lessons, anymore. Due to taking it as a challenge of whose child is better,”  Céline added. “She's also been asked not to attend Kit's art classes, anymore. Due to, once again, taking it as a challenge.”
“Look, you didn't hear what Timmy called Kit's art,” Rosemary defended. “And Jon insulted Jace's piano music. And we both know our kids are the best.”
“Mon amour, you can't threaten other parents,” Céline rubbed Rosemary's back. “You go to the principal, so he can do it.”
“Next question,” Rosemary gestured with her hand.
The interviewer asked. “Do you two have plans to get married?”
“Ask the goddamn person who 'runs' this place that question,” Rosemary got a little heated. “‘What about the children? What will they think when they see two women getting married?’ Probably that same sex relationships are fine, and that it's okay to be gay. Dear, god how terrible that would be,” she said that part sarcastically. “Oh, and don't get me started on the ‘If you're in a relationship with a guy and are a bisexual or pansexual, etc, woman, you're in a straight relationship.’ Like no. Why is everything like this?”
Céline put a hand on her shoulder to soothe her. “That's a sensitive subject. We want to get married, but laws and refusals for our requests keep it from happening.”
“I moved into the territory of Nephilim to be treated like this,” Rosemary grumbled. “I do have plans to start a new life if we have to.”
“Well, not that I'm defending them but. . .” Céline said, “the mundane world hasn't approved it yet, either,” Céline added. "Don't ask why I know that.”
Rosemary sighed. “It doesn't matter. I know I love her and she loves me. That's what really matters.”
Céline smiled at Rosemary and kissed her cheek.
It was these moments that reminded Céline this was what it was like to be loved entirely by someone.
“Next question,” Rosemary rushed. “The boys are with Michael and Robert, and I want alone time with my love.”
“Who is Jace's biological father?”
“Well, Jace's father is Stephen Herondale,” Céline answered. “We were married for about four years but got a divorce. For reasons. He remarried recently. But he's still in Jace's life, and does his best to be a good father.”
“And Kit's?”
“His father died when I was pregnant with him,” Rosemary replied.
“Oh,” the interviewer said. “Sorry to hear that.”
“We done?” Rosemary was examining her nails. “I don't know why you're so interested in us, honestly. We live in the country side of Idris. Nothing exciting.”
Their neighbors were werewolves, but they kept quiet about it. For their neighbors safety.
At that moment Michael and Robert brought the boys back. The other kids with them.
“Welp,” Rosemary said. “Now, you really gotta go. Too bad.”
“Take care,” Céline waved.
The interviewer left.
“This weekly Idris stuff is really interesting,” Michael said.
“That's one way to put it.” Rosemary went to pour the kids each something to drink.
Jace and Alec were talking about something; Isabelle was helping Max read his book; Clary was showing Kit her artwork; And Jonathan Wayland and Jona Fairchild were laughing about something.
They were good kids, Céline thought.
Rosemary had never been a fan of television interviewd or anything like this. But they wouldn't stop bugging them until they agreed.
It was funny to watch her talk with the interviewers. Rosemary wouldn't admit it, but she loved messing with the interviewers.
“So,” Michael clapped his hands together. “Game night this weekend. We're playing scrabble.”
“You sure Robert can handle that,” Rosemary said taking a drink From her wine glass.
Robert shot her look. ”Should you be drinking?”
“Last I checked,” Rosemary shot back. “You're the irresponsible drunk. That's you.”
Rosemary and Robert would go on like that if no one stopped them.
“Will Luke and Jocelyn be bringing the kids again?” Céline asked, trying to divert the conversation.
“Yup,” Michael gave a thumbs up. “Though, Maryse and Kadir have some business to attend to. So they won't be there.”
“Sounds like a plan,” Céline smiled.
Kadir ran the New York Institute, Maryse helped him run it. They made a good team.
They talked for a few more minutes.
“Well,  we'll get out of your hair.” Michael went to pick up Max.
The kids all followed Michael out the door like ducklings, except not in a fine line.
After they left Céline started to prepare dinner.
“So,” Rosemary said to Jace, “what's the status?”
“They're dating,” he grinned.
“Yes,” she high-fived Jace. “I knew you'd get the information, kid.”
“What about me?” Kit asked.
“I knew you'd keep everyone busy,” Rosemary winked. “In time I will assign you tasks, my love.”
“Rosemary, did you have our son investigate for you?” Céline asked.
“Yeah,” she shrugged.
“I didn't mind. I snuck around like a detective,” Jace said. “Alec followed me around to make sure I didn't get hurt or in trouble.”
Céline smiled at that. Jace and Alec were best friends. They did everything together, and Céline would often find them laughing together uncontrollable. Not just any could get that kind of laughter out of Alec.
Rosemary practiced french with the boys while Céline made dinner; that had been her birthday present to Céline. She and the boys were going to become fluent in french, and they were taking a trip to France this fall.
Jace was already almost fluent. Céline had been teaching him little words since he was old enough. He called her “Maman.”often.
Rosemary knew Céline missed it, and she was doing all this for her.
Jace came up to Céline and hugged her. He had always been a mama's boy. Céline had never minded.
“You okay?” She added. “Not that I mind the hugs.”
He nodded. “Can I help you make dinner?”
“Yeah.”  She got a stool for him to stand on and they made dinner together while Rosemary and Kit practiced.
This was all she'd ever wanted, Céline thought. This was what it felt like to be safe and loved and happy. And she'd cherish it every day.
It took time to heal. It wasn't easy to heal. But she was better now.
They had dinner and put the boys to bed.
Then Céline climbed into bed with Rosemary, snuggling close to her. Once again thinking this was safe, this was home.
She kissed Rosemary and was rewarded with a smile, then she kissed her back.
_
The next morning they were woken up by the boys crawling into bed with them. They loved to snuggle as a family.
After breakfast they went for a walk as a family.
When I get stuck I've decided to write short things 😎

you are now listening to graceland too by phoebe bridgers! ( yeosang x f!reader )
fluff, burnout!yeosang, bassist!yeosang, writer!reader, childhood friends 2 lovers but also idiots 2 lovers, yeosang and reader run away, seongjoong are engaged, wooyoung + yeonjun have a band, there is only one bed, yeosang has a nose ring, it’s implied reader has a bad relationship with her mother, wc is 3.1k
NOTE: happy yeosang day! this was a doozy to write, but i hope you all enjoy it! its based off one of my favourite phoebe bridgers songs! :)
There’s a mural on the wall of the hotel lobby. It’s a warm toned painting of a forest, with a hint of a bright blue sky peeking out from the top of the trees. There’s a moose standing at the forefront of the mural, and a little fox sleeping on a rock towards the bottom, surrounded by colourful flowers and leaves.
The mural confused you, if you were being honest. The hotel you worked the night audit at was situated in the busy downtown centre of the city you lived in, and there were barely any forests for miles around the city - let alone any wildlife, like moose or foxes. Hongjoong said it was to make guests feel more ‘in touch with nature’ and to help people forget about the ‘problems of the real world’, while Yeosang claimed it was ‘just another scam in the tourist trap’.
You, on the other hand, was sure the mural was put there to torture you. You would spend nights having staring contests with the moose (which, to your surprise, you always lost), or you would spend hours on Google with Hongjoong trying to find out what species of fox the sleeping fox was (you were sure it was a cape fox, while Hongjoong swore up and down that it was a gray fox). The blue sky between the trees teased you; a reminder that most of your days were spent in the library at your university, or in this dimly lit lobby.
Sometimes, it felt like the only time you saw the sunshine was when you were with Yeosang.
Despite the occasional burnout and the lack of seeing sun most days, you didn’t mind the job. You were always more of a night person, and your classes were always later in the day so you did manage to pull in some sleep. Due to the late hours, you usually only dealt with customers in the first hour or two of your shift, and most of that was just directing confused Ubereats delivery people and pretty Tinder dates to hallways and rooms. It was the perfect job to work on your writing, and get your school work out of the way without listening to your mother cry about how you’re throwing your life away like your sister.
Plus, you could think of a hundred worse people to spend the night shift with than the nighttime valet, Hongjoong. Hongjoong often kept you occupied with his latest reforms and art projects, and stories about his fiancee, Seonghwa & their friend, Yunho (who he kept insisting you needed to go on a date with).
“Your emo boy is coming.”
Well, you could think of ninety-nine worse people to spend the night shift with than Hongjoong, who sat next to you at the check-in desk.
You scoff, “He’s not my emo boy.” You mumble, glancing at the street entrance to see Yeosang walk in with an ice coffee on hand.
Despite your words, Kang Yeosang was your person (you wouldn’t quite use the term ‘emo boy’, even if it did fit), and he had been since your family moved in next door to his family when you two were children. Although your friendship lately had been reduced to these late night meetings while you two were on break on your respective graveyard shifts (you at the hotel and Yeosang at the convenience store down the block, of course) and occasional meetings in the garden when you were both running errands for your families, you still considered Yeosang one of your dearest memories.
It was hard not too, you suppose. He had been there for many of your firsts, and was always cheering you on. Yeosang always made you feel powerful and important - like a powerful heroine, and not his bratty next door neighbor who cried on his doorstep after being dumped by her first year partner. He always made you feel wanted.
Yeosang grinned at you as he stepped into the lobby (if your heart fluttered in your chest, you ignored it). He had on a backwards dad cap, and he had recently changed his nose ring out for the gold hoop San had bought him for his birthday. You could just faintly see his birthmark peeking out from where his bleach blonde hair curled under the hat.
“Hello, Sunshine.” He greets you, setting the coffee down on your desk.
You set the pen you were holding down, “Hi Yeosang.”
Upon first glance at Yeosang, you can tell he’s buzzing about something. He’s leaning over the check-in counter and chewing on his lip while making small talk with Hongjoong about the tourist season.
You raise an eyebrow, sipping your coffee as Yeosang turns back to you, “Do you remember Wooyoung and Yeonjun?”
You nearly choke on your coffee at the mention of your other neighbor and ex-boyfriend. Wooyoung had moved onto your street a few years after you had, and quickly became apart of the little bond you and Yeosang had formed. He moved to the coast with Yeonjun, your ex, the first chance they had gotten, but Wooyoung’s family remained in the neighborhood.
“I babysat Woo’s brother the other day…” You watched your friend, “Did something happen? Mrs Jung didn’t say anything the other day.”
Yeosang grins, and it’s his scheming grin, “Their band got signed,” He tells you, “They need a new bassist, and Wooyoung showed them that video you took of me from that show last month. Their label wants me to come down; play a few shows with them, record a couple demos. See if we have chemistry, basically.”
Your eyes widen - both out of excitement and fear. You were happy and excited for Yeosang! This is the opportunity he had been wanting for years, but you were also terrified.
You were terrified in a horrible, selfish way because you knew if Yeosang left to join Wooyoung and Yeonjun, he’d never come back to you.
“That’s… That’s great, Yeo!” You manage a grin whilst trying to shove the selfish thoughts away, “When do they want you there?”
Yeosang’s smile falters, just for a moment but you still catch it, “Monday.”
“F-Five days?”
He nods, “I’m leaving Saturday morning, so I can be there Sunday afternoon.”
You can see it in his eyes; he’s terrified too.
Before you can say anything else, Yeosang leans over the check-in counter and presses a chaste kiss to your forehead, “I have to get back to work, Sunshine.” He tells you, his voice quiet as if he’s giving you a secret, “I’ll see you later.”
He’s already halfway down the lobby when you swear and move out of your chair, you quickly call his name as you move out from behind the desk. You rush over to where he’s standing, and look up at him. He’s confused.
He opens his mouth to say something, but the words die in his throat when you pull him into a tight hug, “I’m proud of you, Yeo.”
Yeosang wraps his arms around you, pulling you closer to him. His chest is warm, and you’re sure you could spend hours here. He smiles, pressing another kiss to your head, “I know, Sunshine.” He pulls away, his hand on your arm, “I really do have to go, though. I’m already late for work.”
You nod, wrapping your arms around your torso as you watch him leave the hotel and turn down the street to go back to the convenience store. When you turn back around, Hongjoong is watching you with an amused look on his face.
You glare at him as you walk back to the desk, “Don’t you have a fiance to call, or something?”
----------------
You were tired.
Friday nights were always busy, but tonight was draining and loud and you could only take so much of Miss Liu’s incessant phone calls about mundane things at 3am. All you wanted to do was go home, and fall into your bed and sleep for hours.
Hongjoong didn’t help your mood either. It was an innocent question about Yeosang, asking if you’d seen him since he visited you on his break but it pushed your mood down to a low point. You had been so busy the past few days, and if you were being honest with yourself, you had been avoiding Yeosang.
You weren’t ready to see him leave. You knew it was selfish, but you figured avoiding Yeosang was easier than admitting you didn’t want him to leave you behind. You would just simply watch his life through Instagram and consider the ‘what-ifs’ in your life.
You shouldered your tote bag after clocking out before yelling a good-bye to Hongjoong. You could see the beginning rays of morning sun hitting the other buildings in the downtown core as you stepped out the employee doors, and then you were hit by the sight of Yeosang leaning against one of the pillars.
Your eyes widen, “Yeosan-”
“Come with me.”
You stop. Your words are left in your throat, “W-Wh… Go with you? To the coast?”
Yeosang nods, “Come with me,” He steps forward, taking your hands in his, “What do you have here? A degree you don’t care about? A job you hate?”
You frown, running over his words in your head, “I-I have my mom. And… I have Hongjoong!”
He raises an eyebrow, “Y/N, Sunshine… Your mom will barely notice you’re gone, and Hongjoong can visit us.” He cupped your cheek.
You’re so busy having an internal crisis you hardly notice the usage of ‘us’. You’re considering the logistics in your head. Yeosang was right; you didn’t care about your degree, and all it would take was an email saying you quit for them to find a new front desk person. Your mom would be upset for a few weeks. She’d probably make some passive aggressive Facebook posts about you before acting like your best friend again.
“Yeosang…” You look up at him, your hand coming up to circle around his wrist.
“Your sister is there, and you could write everyday.” Yeosang adds on, “I did the math, Y/N. Between the two of us, we’d have 6 months to figure it out. 6 months, and we’ll come back here if nothing works out.”
You stay silent for a moment.
“Sunshine, I promised I’d show you the stars, didn’t I?”
You gasp at the promise. It was a silly promise he had made when you were both kids; something you’d almost forgotten about.
It hits you quickly: there’s no one else you’d rather run away with. There’s no one else you’d trust to run away with.
You look up at Yeosang, “Yes.”
He grins, “Yes?”
You nod, “Yes, Yeo. I’ll go with you.”
----------------
An hour. An hour was how long it took for you to turn your life upside down for Kang Yeosang.
In an hour, you had emailed your program advisor and told them you wouldn’t be returning for the next semester, and you had called your manager and told them you wouldn’t be coming in for your next shift, or any shift after that (which was promptly followed by a phone call from Hongjoong, who seemed more excited about this than you were). You had packed up most of your clothes and important belongings, and they were loaded into the back of Yeosang’s shitty car. You left a note for your mother, and before you knew it, you were sitting in the passenger’s seat of Yeosang’s car.
----------------
You had fallen asleep barely an hour into the car ride.
The rolling hills and fields outside your window made your eyes feel heavier, but you tried staying awake to keep Yeosang company.
“Go to sleep, Sunshine.” He tells you, “I’ll be here when you wake up.”
Yeosang’s promise was all it took for you to succumb to your exhaustion.
You don't usually remember your dreams. Though today, there are flashes of a beach, and a smile that takes your breath away. There are blue skies and if you try hard enough, you can just faintly smell sea salt.
You wake up hours later, smiling. True to his word, Yeosang is still there when you wake. He’s wearing a pair of sunglasses, and tapping his fingers to the beat of the song on the radio.
Yeosang smiles when he notices you’re awake, “I talked to your mother.”
Your eyes widen, “You talked to who?”
He laughs, “You didn’t answer your phone, so she called me.”
You frown, glancing at your phone in the free cup holder. You could imagine the amount of calls and texts that were in there.
“She wasn’t very happy.” Yeosang continues, “She wants you to call her when we get there.”
You nod, “Thank you, Yeo.” You say softly, looking over at him.
Yeosang throws you a smile, “Of course.”
“Not just for talking to my mom…” You watch him, “For not leaving me behind, too. Thank you.”
Yeosang reaches over, taking your hand, “I’d never leave you behind, Sunshine. You’d have to try really hard to get rid of me.”
----------------
The car ride was long, and full of Yeosang’s early 2000s emo playlist & fast food. You called your sister, who was ecstatic to hear about your plans and had immediately offered you and Yeosang her beach house. She made a comment about how ‘she always knew you two would end up together’, and it made your heart flutter when you glanced at Yeosang.
Yeosang told you about Wooyoung’s band, and how excited he was to play with Wooyoung. You smiled, listening to him fondly talk about your old friends and their music.
It was getting late though, and you could see it in Yeosang’s face that he was getting tired.
“We should stop for the night.” You tell him, “You’ve been driving since 6am, Yeo.”
He huffs, “We could drive through the night.” He proposes, “We’d make it to your sister’s place in a few hours.”
You frown, “Or... We could stop for the night, shower, and then leave first thing tomorrow morning. We'll get there by noon tomorrow.”
Yeosang glances at you, going to protest. He ends up yawning instead, his nose wrinkling slightly, “Fine.” He pouts.
You laugh, reaching for your phone to google the closest hotels. There's a comfortable silence in the car, filled with the occasional beat of Yeosang’s fingers on the steering wheel. You feel at ease, even if it's just for a moment.
“There’s a motel off the next exit.” You tell him, stifling a yawn of your own.
----------------
Sure enough, there had been a motel off the next exit. It was small and slightly rundown, but cheap and had an available room. You waited in the car while Yeosang went into the check-in office, promising to be back in a moment.
He came back dangling a key in his hand, and a slight frown on his face as he opened the car door to let you out.
“So... There’s only one bed.” He broke the news, a blush growing up his cheeks, “It’s all they had, unless we wanted to drive another hour down the highway.”
Your eyes widen, “O-Oh.” You glance at the key, and then back up at Yeosang, “I’ll sleep on the floor, or something.”
Yeosang frowns, shaking his head, “We can share for one night, Sunshine. I think it’ll be okay.”
Which leads you to here; lying almost nose to nose with Yeosang. Your hair was soaking wet from a shower in the tiny bathroom and the small motel bed wasn’t comfortable, but you didn’t seem to mind as you took in the man in front of you. You pushed the strands of bleach blonde hair out of his face, and your fingers softly lingered on the birthmark next to his eye.
His breath stuttered, “Y/N,” He says, his voice a mere whisper, “We’re free.”
You let your hand rest against his cheek. Your eyes lingered on his lips before you caught yourself, moving your gaze back up to his eyes.
Yeosang only smiled at you. He gently held your wrist as he tilted his head and placed a soft kiss on your palm, “I’m going to kiss you now, Sunshine.”
“Yes please.”
You felt every nerve in your body light up when Yeosang kissed you.
A small part of your brain told you that this is where you’re meant to be: in Yeosang’s arms.
You felt this way the first time Yeosang had kissed you too, all the way back on that roof in 11th grade. You two had been talking about the future; about your writing and Yeosang’s music. You looked up at the hazy night sky, and you asked Yeosang if you’d ever get to see the stars.
He smiled at you, telling you that he would show them to you one day before he kissed you so sweetly.
Yeosang still kissed you sweetly. He kissed you like you held the secrets of the universe in your hand for him to take.
You pulled away, “I think I love you.”
He smiles against your lips, rubbing soft circles into your wrist, “I think I love you too, baby.”
—————-
You had this assumption that the next morning would be awkward; that you would be stuck for the next 6 months with someone you could barely look in the eye because of a late night confession.
Instead, you awoke to Yeosang kissing your head and placing a bagel & ice coffee down for you. He had quickly ushered you into the shower, before you put on a change of clothes and were quickly led out to the car between bites of your bagel. This all happened over Yeosang telling you how you only had a few hours before you reached your sister’s beach house, and he wanted to try and make good time so you could enjoy the beach today.
You giggled at his antics before settling into the passenger’s seat for the last few hours of your journey.
You sipped your ice coffee as you watched out the window. The countryside on the highway zoomed by you, and the car was full of sunlight from Yeosang’s sunroof being open. There was a Fall Out Boy song on the radio, and you felt a sense of calm brush over you as Yeosang took your hand in his.
The sunshine had never felt so nice on your skin as Yeosang pressed a soft kiss to the back of your hand.
