Ok so I got the idea from one of NIKI’s song but it’s a breakup kind of song (and it’s based on international high school experience) & I’m not strong enough to make angsty stuff so I ended up only using the title lol, the idea of turning them Indonesian had been inside my mind for quite some time anyway.

When I post this, it should’ve been around the time when the independence day flag ceremony ends. Every school kids must attend it whether they like it or not (this year it lands on Saturday so…🥲). I figure I could make Silver and Lyra hanging around post ceremony before leaving the school ground to go on a date or something.

I made them as public highschool students despite the fact that Lyra shouldn’t be able to wear “short” skirt like this unless she went to private school or if this takes place before 2010s (which is not the case since they only started using flag badge around mid 2010s iirc). Silver on the other hand wouldn’t be allowed to use black undershirt under the uniform and his hair must be short enough, these are rules r kinda weird idk why they made it. Anyway, I use some random public school google image for the background :p if that’s your school then…thanks & sorry i guess

also right before i left my friend i was staying with was like “i want to apologize for [his roommate]’s behaviour” bc the roommate stayed in his room pretty much the whole time i was there and only said hi to me when he happened to walk past me in the kitchen the second day i was there. which like yeah is not the friendliest but also it had not occurred to me to be offended like i’m sure it’s not personal lol he doesn’t know me & i just assumed he was shy and/or busy. like i appreciate the apology but also no need to take it upon yourself to apologize for another adult’s behaviour especially when i wasn’t offended by it in the first place

No but I need to actually talk about the title "Our Flag Means Death" and why I love it so much!!!

Before I watched the show, I thought the name was about pirate flags. About someone being on a ship, and then seeing another ship and realizing their flag is a pirate flag, and knowing they're going to attack and kill everyone. Seeing a pirate flag at sea equals death.

Then I started watching season one and I realized the show was actually about a ship full of queer people. And I thought, oh, the name makes so much sense, because being queer is so often a death sentence. We're so often facing violence, or the threat of violence, just for being queer, for wearing our pride flag.

And then it turns out to be a show about queer joy, which I did not expect, at all. About choosing love and kindness and hope over any amount of violence and death that the world might throw our way. About choosing to accept and celebrate who we are. About choosing to heal and live.

To me, the show's name means that we're hoisting our flag, knowing full well we might face death for it, but choosing to do so anyway, because we're not going to live in fear and shame anymore. We're not going to hide and make ourselves small. We're going to live true to ourselves and protect each other, and always choose joy over tragedy, and believe that one day the world will have changed and then our flag won't mean death anymore.

Because we've discovered our flag can mean so much more than that.

Yippie! So silly (kinda sad) idea I had I while ago that I need to draw about again aaaa— Anyway, there were a lot details that had me thinking about stuff in certain games. Harmony of Despair has the “Helmont/Shiimon/Simon Wraith” enemies that have this ominous description of “some say this is what happened to Simon Belmont in the end”, and it’s just never mentioned again. Like damn ok that’s uh some interesting information wow uh— Also that coupled with the hanging skeletons being a reference to Simon in CV4 and also being in the hanged man position, the family heirlooms in the ghostly Dracula’s castle in Harmony of Dissonance, and the quest for Anna in Order of Ecclesia about helping her cat protect her from dark spirits that’s ended with a really sudden line about her having nightmares about a man with a whip fighting something scary, my guy is haunting the narrative and doesn’t sound like he’s doing so great 💀.

So the Ghost Simon concept was born and uh here he is I guess lol. Part of it also came from the idea that we’ve already seen a ghost companion in the series in Wind (if you know you know), but what if there was one you had to help that was a little more uh what’s the word… tormented? Vengeful? Upset in general? Yeah. He’s kinda just a mix of a bunch of different ghost lore, not one in particular. Fun fact: Dulahans sometimes use their own spines as a whip :3. And in a lot of folklore Strigoi often prey on their own family members, especially the younger girls in the family. But yeah, he’s just kind of a nuisance, not really like ‘evil’ or anything. Breaks things sometimes, generally pesters people, only occasionally a minor threat. Maybe leaves bloody footprints sometimes, turns paintings crooked, writes omens on walls, ya know, average ghost activities. I like to think that the boss rush with him in HoD is what he’s been doing for a while. Maybe Juste unknowingly takes him home with some of the furniture, probably the grandfather clock lol. Idk it’s just a fun what if idea for fun tho mostly d(^^ ).

A couple various Magolor outfits (Clash cause I realized I only had half finished sketches of that outfit and also Yukari Yakumo from Touhou cosplay for fun) and also Oh hey yeah that thing!

Ummm let’s see, words are hard right now but I should probably give my explaining myself spiel and I’ve already been putting off this post for like a month and a half. Clash outfit was fairly self-evident; I thought it looked good with the red added (apple colors hehe) and I of course couldn’t resist throwing some classic lolita in there. Unlike his usual outfit there’s not space for his wings to stretch out in the back bc Clash is like. Theoretically it’s chill but they’ve got a lotta post-traumatic stress/paranoia/insecurity that morphs into weird tension with the main gang back in the usual universe and then doesn’t fully start getting resolved until after Star Allies (I have other sketches of this outfit - and just other Magolor doodles in general; particularly I’ve been trying to figure out digitigrade leg posing - but I don’t feel like posting them here so I guess you can find them at um. Kirby live radio wiki community feed)

Yukari outfit I had the idea for cause I was thinking abt qi lolita again. Not much to say aside from I figured out why they don’t ever give her the parasol with this dress; it is a distressing amount of light pink to deal with and between that and the pose and parasol shape I sweated my way through most of this piece lol

Aaand Magolor Epilogue a.k.a. self-recognition through the other (derogatory) ….. TWO!! I had the idea for Master Crown boss to bear an uncanny resemblance to 2nd phase Magolor/Magolor Soul a long time ago but like. Turns out it was scarily close already; I just had to add a head and a couple fingers.
