#i realize i don't have very many female favorite characters and none that made this list and that's a CRIME WHAT
altruistic-meme · 4 months
Note
Do you mind if I ask your top 10 favorite characters (can be male or female) from all of the media that you loved (can be anime/manga, books, movies or tv series)? And why do you love them? Sorry if you've answered this question before.....Thanks...
hi dear!!! i definitely don't mind AT ALL i love getting questions!!!! i probably have answered this question before, but this is one of those things that's subject to change pretty often as i find new characters and they take over from older ones :] so i will probably never give the exact same answer twice dksvjsdfh
ok ok that said, let me see... in no particular order:
Damianos of Akielos (Book: Captive Prince trilogy) quite literally THE man of all time. THE man of my dreams. he is such a beautifully written character who is so complex and interesting to read!! he is so gentle and caring despite his size, and he has a confidence i can only aspire to.
Neil Josten (Book: All For The Game trilogy) unhinged maniac 🧡 no but genuinely he is such a good main character. everything about him and his narration pulls you in to the story. he is the most unreliable narrator. his perspective is so skewed. also my namesake!!
Nakahara Chuuya (Anime/Series: Bungo Stray Dogs) i may or may not have somewhat of an obsession with him right now. he is literally so pretty that i throw my phone. but also he is so unbearably human in an incredibly tragic way, and he is that way because he actively chooses to be. he is a high ranking member of the mafia and he loves dogs and he promised his dying friend that he would save someone else and he is so loyal and bright. i am going to stop while im ahead bc 90% of my thoughts right now are about Chuuya so i could genuinely go on forever.
Victor Nikiforov (Anime: Yuri!!! ON Ice) he is so sad
Hinata Shoyo (Anime: Haikyuu!!) he is just so fucking BRIGHT!!! unlike Victor, Hinata is the exact opposite of me in almost every sense. it is so hard for me to watch anyone else when he's on the screen. he is just joy and energy incarnate and i want to be his friend so bad.
Spiderman (TV Show/Movie/Comic) this is a cheat because it's just. every iteration of spiderman. i love him. just your friendly neighborhood spiderman!! i have such a soft spot for Miles Morales' spiderman in particular due to the spiderverse movies, but i also really loved all of the live action spiderman movies. and we can't forget the tv show!!!
Prince Wilhelm (Show: Young Royals) fucking babygirl. yet another sad wet cat of a character who i project onto immensely. he is just so complex and interesting and so real and flawed and just. listen. having the weight of the world rest on your shoulders as you struggle with trying to make friends and fight your anxiety and handle your mother all by yourself is something i have dealt with too. i can't put into words all my thoughts about him right now, but rest assured there are More.
Hiccup Horrendous Haddock III (Book: How to Train Your Dragon series) don't get me wrong, i love the movie version of him as well, but they are such different characters. and the book version of Hiccup has an incredibly special place in my heart. httyd is such a comfort read for me, and it was huge for me getting to grow up with Hiccup. he is just a fucking little guy and he goes through so much. but he keeps going. he didn't deserve any of it and he fights so hard to make sure no one else has to go through it like he did. gods i love him.
Charlie Spring (Comic: Heartstopper) same as with Hiccup, i love him in the show as well but to me the characters are so different and i just relate so much more to the comic version of him! he is a mess and i love him and relate to him. i wish i had what he has. i am also so proud of how far he has come!! and he reminds me to be proud of myself, too. also see; sassy motherfucker.
Kenai (Movie: Brother Bear) a strange choice, maybe, but this movie means SO much to me. it is a huge comfort movie. and Kenai, by virtue of being the main character, clearly gets the leg up as the favorite. but it's so amazing seeing him grow as a person (or. well. bear). he's funny, he tries so hard, he wants so much. and he's just a kid!! he learns so much!!
there are definitely some patterns in my favorite characters that i am going to choose not to look too closely at :') i have so many characters i adore. this was so hard ;;;

Angel Baby
Who would have thought that resident bad boy Sukuna would become your personal angel? -> This is part of my Blog Anniversary Event (closed). @reneeprika requested the song "Angel Baby" by Troye Sivan.
Pairing: Modern!Sukuna x Reader (female) Genre: fluff, College AU Word Count: 1k Warnings: None. Lots of fluff. I cried my eyes out writing this because it made me so emotional. Please listen to the song while reading it!! All characters are of age. My blog is 18+. Minors don't interact.
Tumblr media
The sound of heavy rain hitting your window wakes you up in the middle of the night. You sigh and snuggle closer to the warm, muscular body next to you. Your boyfriend Sukuna, who has one strong, tattoed arm wrapped tightly around you, not letting go of you even in his sleep.
A sleepy smile wanders over your face. Sukuna and rain are a combination that will always fill your mind with fond memories.
It was a rainy night like this that brought him to you. When you ran from a party after a song started playing, that reminded you of your ex, who had just broken up with you a few days before. Your tears mixed with the rain, making you stumble half-blind into a solid chest, and two strong arms caught you before you could fall.
"Hey, easy there, princess."
His voice had sounded amused until his maroon eyes landed on your face, and he took in your tear-swollen eyes. You expected to be made fun of when you realized who you had run into. Of course, you knew Sukuna. The whole campus knew him. The bad boy with the tattoos and the smug smirk. A guy like Sukuna surely wouldn't be considerate of your feelings.
But he proved you wrong. His low voice was soft when he asked you what was wrong. His eyes were filled with worry when you muttered something about being sad because your boyfriend broke up with you.
You thought he would leave after that. But he didn't. He took off his leather jacket and put it over your shaking shoulders. He led you to a nearby portico and sat there with you on the stairs, refusing to leave you alone, telling you that your ex was an asshole, and making you laugh softly when Sukuna offered to punch him for you.
He waited with you until your friend with the car was ready to go home, and even then, Sukuna told you to keep his jacket so you wouldn't get cold.
"Just give it back to me next time, princess."
The next time was three days later when you invited him to coffee and cupcakes at your favorite coffee shop to thank him for the jacket and the company. And that next time turned into many more times.
That was two years ago, and now you can't even remember anymore how being heartbroken feels.
Everyone warned you not to get involved with Sukuna and told you he wasn't good for a girl like you. He was the resident bad boy. Arrogant and rough, with too many tattoos and a tendency to get into trouble. Someone who was infamous for being only good for the bedroom.
But instead of scaring you away, that was actually what made you drift to him. Sukuna seemed like a good distraction. Someone who couldn't break your heart because you knew from the start he would only be a little fling. Someone you could just have sex with when you felt like it. The perfect guy for someone like you, who had given up on love.
You weren't looking for a boyfriend anymore. Love was just a lie, lots of words that didn't mean a thing, because you knew everyone would just leave again after a while. You had given up on romance, on "forever" and "happily ever after."
But things turned out very differently. And you are so incredibly grateful for it.
Falling in love with Sukuna caught you off guard. You didn't expect him to treat you so well. Although that first night in the rain should have told you, he wasn't the way people made him out to be.
Sukuna was sweet to you. He was the type to glare intimidatingly at everyone around him and flip them off, just to turn around and smile a genuine, dazzling smile at you and call you his princess and hug you so tightly to his tall, strong body that you felt safe like never before in your life.
He was reliable. Something you would have never thought when looking at him. But he always remembered everything you told him. He remembered your birthday. He remembered when and where to pick you up. He remembered all your appointments and helped you with them. He was there for you when you were anxious, when you were sad when you were overwhelmed with life.
He looked scared when he told you he loved you, just as terrified of those feelings as you were. Two people scared of love. You because you had already gotten burned by it too many times. Sukuna because he had never felt like that before, and the sheer intensity of his feelings for you terrified him.
You both spent the following months learning that love didn't have to hurt or be scary. You both fell in love with so many little things about each other. The way he smiled, the way you laughed. His secret passion for cooking, your passion for books. You spent hours counting the tattoos on his skin and tracing them with your lips. He told you his secrets, trusting you with everything he was underneath his tough shell. Trusting you with a heart that was surprisingly soft, if only for a few select people.
You feel him stir, and his strong arm automatically tightens around your waist, pulling you even closer. The warm feeling in your chest grows even more. You can't stop yourself from pressing a tender kiss to Sukuna's tattoed chest.
A soft laugh, raspy with sleep, fills the bedroom,
"Hmm, princess. Can't sleep?"
You smile as you nuzzle your face against his warm, muscular chest.
"The rain woke me up. But it's ok... I'm happy about it, actually. Do you know that rain always reminds me of you?"
He laughs softly and wraps both of his strong arms around you now, hugging you tightly to his firm, tall body.
"Yeah? Rain always reminds me of you, too. I'm glad you ran into me that night."
"Sukuna?"
You lift your head off his chest to look up at his beautiful tattoed face, smiling when his maroon eyes meet yours in the dim light of the streetlamp and the moon shining through the window. There's a lazy, sleepy smirk on his lips, his gaze unguarded, a look he only has when he's with you.
"Yes, baby?"
"You're my angel."
The smirk grows wider and turns into a laugh, even as his eyes sparkle happily,
"Didn't you mix something up, princess? Don't you mean I'm your devil?"
You shake your head, feeling a broad, happy smile spreading over your face,
"No, you are my angel. My angel baby. When I ran into you, I was at a point in life where I had given up on love. I thought true love just existed in books and movies but not in real life. But then you came into my life and showed me a kind of love I never knew before."
You feel happy tears well up in your eyes and run down your cheeks. Tears that immediately get gently wiped away by a warm, tattoed hand. And Sukuna's glittering maroon eyes gaze deeply into yours with a tender look in them that makes your chest feel incredibly full,
"And I never knew love before I met you, princess. You taught me how to fall in love and how to want to stay there. I think you are the angel out of us two."
You laugh happily as more tears spill from your eyes. You reach out to cup Sukuna's cheek, too, caressing the black lines under his eyes and on his jaw, looking at him with love written all over your face.
"I mean it, Kuna. Just because you look like a devil doesn't mean you are one."
He smiles at you, that beautiful smile that is only reserved for you, making him almost look angelic too,
"Then I'll be an angel just for you, princess."

-Has the most amazing made up stories and fantasies. Talks your ears off with them
-When you're laying in bed, and she wakes up before you, she'll lay on top of you to wake you up.
I'm not kidding. It can be 6 am, and she'll crawl over to your side of the bed and lay her whole body on yours.
-In general, she's super fun to be around.
Negative:
-Overworks herself.
With that, she forgets to eat.
On a few occasions she actually fainted.
-Becomes distant when something's bothering her.
-She can get too swept up in her ideologies/fantasies, that she doesn't see what's right infront her.
-Lowkey controlling, but doesn't realize it.
(I don't think there are many negative things about Charlie to be honest LOL)
Vaggie:
Tumblr media
Positive:
-Considerate.
-If she sees something that reminds her of you, she buys it.
-Knows how to calm you down/put you in your place.
-Admits when she's wrong, and knows when to apologize.
-Smells good. I have a feeling she just smells sweet. Like coconut or something.
-A surprisingly good artist?
-Has a great wardrobe. Let's you raid it every once in a while.
-Strong asf. Often lifts you up, and throws you over her shoulder.
Negative:
-Aggressive.
Normally, she has no way of outing it, so she bottles it up. Because of this, she can come over as aggressive, simply because her cup overflows.
-Drowns in her feelings.
-Takes things too seriously.
-She hit you in a fight once, and she still regrets it.
-Also hold grudges.
-Gives you the silent treatment if you did something to her dislike.
Alastor:
Tumblr media
Positive:
-Surprisingly understanding.
-I said this once, and will continue to say it, he has AMAZING taste in music. Many of the characters do.
-A great cook.
His mom taught him many recipes, so he loves to make them for you.
-Protective.
-Open minded/open to new experiences
-Intelligent, always knows when you lie.
-Good at boardgames.

Negative:
-Obsessive.
-Has his eye on you 95% of the time. Not in a good way.
-Decides things for you without you asking him/giving him permission.
-does NOT mind his business.
-Not good with kids.
Because he's born in the 1890's he's super old fashioned. Therefore I think he would strike his kids if they misbehaved.
-Doesn't get along with your male friends, and is 'overly' friendly with your female friends, which makes it seem like he's flirting with them.
-He's a murderer. That speaks for itself.
-Blood thirsty as hell.
-A good liar, which makes him seem untrustworthy.

-Notices small changes in your behavior, whether it's due to stress or simply a bad day, and helps you relax/cheer you up.

-Also has amazing music taste.
I personally think a few of his main artists are:
Lady Gaga, Kesha, T-ara, Britney Spears and The Weeknd
-Funny as hell. No pun or joke gets past him.
-Great with animals! If you have a pet, he has a nickname for them.
-Unironically calls you 'Pookie' or 'Snukems'
-Has a good memory. Remembers your favorite color, your favorite flower, etc.
-Chases you around the house/appartment with a bug he caught. (Whether that's negative or positive is totally up to you)
Negative:
-Doesn't really understand/do boundaries, so he'll often take things too far.
-Argumentive. He enjoys a good argument or fight, which makes it difficult to find a solution to the problem your fighting about.

-Secretive. It takes a lot to get him to talk about his feelings and problems.
-Takes his anger out on you sometimes.
-Passive aggressive.
-Borrows your things without your permission, and doesn't put them back when he's done.
Husk:
Tumblr media
Positive:

-Is so fully aware when your bullshiting him, he just pretends not to know.
-As i said in previous headcanons, he LOVES to dance with you.
He's super good at it too!
Has his hands all over you.
Hips, waist, neck, back, you name it.
-Will never admit it, but he likes it when you sneak up on him/jump him.
-In general he's pretty accepting of physical touch.
-He purrs, when you scratch his ears or something.
-Leaves you small gifts and letters around the house/appartment.
Negative:
-Messy. Has trouble cleaning/keeping things clean.
-Forgetful. Often forgets your dates.
-Anger Issues.
-Snaps at you when he's overwhelmed or stressed. Doesn't apologize for it because he's not aware of it. You'd have to point it out to get an apology out of him.
-Easily irritated.
When you're too close to him, when he's in a bad mood or when you take jokes a little too far, he ignores you for a few hours.
Thank you for reading!

Miserix for the ask game!
This was one I really wanted so thank you so so much for asking it ;A;
First impression
I always liked Miserix. I discovered his charater via browsing on the wiki and reading about him made me interested in him. Since my language doesn't have pronouns I thought he was female for the longest time though lmao.
Impression now
My beloved strawberry dragon ;A;!!!! I love Miserix so much, he's easily one of my favorite characters and by far the most underrated in the series. In my opinion Miserix is one of the most interesting and intriguing characters in the series with by far one of the most compelling character journeys (even if we don't see much of it on-screen). Miserix is a tragedy, someone who was ousted from his position and ended up going mad as a result of his exile and isolation for thousands upon thousands years. He lost everything: his purpose, his identity and people to trust and was left with nothing but rage and vengeance! I find characters who lose themselves in their anger and vengeance such fascinating lost souls and Miserix is no exception! He's one of those characters I love to rotate in my head and dissect from all angles, trying to understand his psyche and mindset. And it's so much fun: Miserix is so fascinating to think about both with how he was in the past and how he is in the present. Not to mention how well Miserix fits thematically to the franchises themes, in particular on it's commentary of duty, identity and authority! He's an interesting character on his own and as a part of a larger world/narrative
In addition of finding Miserix's character so fascinating, I also love him for thow badass he is. And this isn't because of his powers and feats in story: The core of Miserix's badassness (at least for me) is his indimitation factor alone.Every time Miserix is on screen he brings so much tension to the scene he is in by his mere presence, he just has that type of charisma (for lack of a better term). Like Miserix doesn't have to do anything substantial, just by being present and saying somethign (even if it's just one line) is enough to get chills. Helps that he has easily some of the best lines in the series.
But god I love Miserix so so so much. I know that people dislike the Makuta as a species/faction retcon but I think it was worth it just for Miserix's character alone. His character does so much good for the series by introducing a fascinating major player into the series mythos who reflects some of the larger themes and ideas of the series really well!
Also the funny realization that Miserix is really similar to a favorite character of mine from another fandom but said character would hate him because he hates dragons and wants them all dead and...well..Miserix is a dragon so.
Favorite moment
This is hard since I like so many Miserix's scenes but none of them stand out as his absolutely best scene...probably his "official" introduction when The Federation of Fear freed him. It did a great job establishing his character that's also a great example of the intimidation factor I talked about earlier, while also giving him some really badass lines. Also him just telling Roodaka how she shouldn't puppet him is simutaneously funny and badass.
Honorable mention to that scene he arrived to Stelt and threatens a Steltian trader due to him not telling him Teridax's location. Mainly due to it having his best line in the entire series:
“I don’t have time for this. I have places to be, and bodies to break. I want you to send out a message to all your friends, to everyone who sails in and out of this island. Tell them Miserix is back, and when I find him, Teridax is dead!”
Like man, this line is such a perfect example of what I mean when I say Miserix gets the best lines! Its just raw unadulatered badassery and I love it!
Idea for a story
Post-canon/post-reformation where he gets to heal and rehabilate himself. I'm very much of the mind tht Miserix should have a chance at redemption: Yeah sure the guy was an angry vengeful dragon fueled by murderous rage against Teridax but he wasn't really a bad person himself nor did he bad things and thus shouldn't really be punished. I don't really like how some people in the fandom treat him like a rabid animal that needs to be put down when he isn't that far gone. He deserves to live and recover! Which is what I want: him slowly recovering from his trauma and pain, and him finding a community that will support and help him. Also get this dragon therapy or anger mangment at least he needs it so badly!
I'd also like to see a story about how Miserix was like before his exile. Miserix pre-exile self fascinates me to no end and getting to see what kind of person and leader he was before Teri ousted him would be great! Just to learn more about Miserix's values, how he saw his and the brotherhoods purpose in the larger MU and what his relation was to Mata Nui would be so cool! I need character studies on this guy and I need them now!
Unpopular opinion
Miserix is not boring! It annoys me so much when so many people in the fandom dismiss him, calling him a boring and unnecessary filler character that's an example of why the serials focus on superfulous new characters was bad.. when he's not. Yes, the serials have problem of ignoring the already established characters we already know and love, instead focusing on new players or bit characters fans weren't that attached to all because they wanted to focus on the grander world and have larger stakes...but this doesn't mean the new characters the serials revolved around weren't bad, and Miserix certainly wasn't! He is a geniunely compelling character with solid characterization and people ignoring him makes me so sad :C. Especially when they say he's just a violent angry dragon with nothing else going on for him. Sure he is a violent angry dragon, but he wasn't always like that and the story how he became who he is today is geniunely one of the better character stories in the series. Not to mention how he has a bit more going on with him than just angry murder dragon, even if you ignore his past self and focus on the Miserix we see in the story. Killing Teridax is his priority for sure, but there are times when he's able to prioritize on other things and thus doesn't mention his objective. See the scene where he interacts with the Hagah for a prime example.
Another thing that bothers me about peoples takes on Miserix is how people try to categorize Miserix on whether he was a "good" or "bad" person. One of the reasons Miserix is such a fascinating character to me is due to him being one of the few characters in the series that isn't really good or evil but somewhere in between. He was someone who was rigidly loyal to his duty and purpose in the universe, but he was willing to do some shady shit for accomplishing it. And when he became an angry murder dragon he only realy wanted to kill Teridax! He didn't care about hurting anyone else, only hurt them if they came to his way.
Also on a related note, I dislike Greg saying Miserix didn't care for his duty and was just happy of the power it gave him. Miserix is a much more interesting character if he geniunely cares about his job as the guardian of the universe, if he geiunely wants to protect the world and take good care of it to the point he sees it as his entire being rather than if he was as selfish and power hungry as other Makuta and was just content of his positiion of power so didn't try to take over anything.
Favorite relationship
Tbh none of Miserixs relationships are that "developed" in canon as I wish they were (curse for lategame Bionicle prioritizing over plot over character relationships) but I find his relationship with Takadox so fascinating. The little we know is that Miserix hired Takadox to act as a brotherhood spy due to him being "corruptible" and that Takadox most likely cared of Miserix based on how he looked at him when Barraki left that meeting with BoM. And that's just so fascinating. Miserix essentially taking advantage of Takadox is a concrete example of how he did some really fucked up stuff for the greater good. It makes me wonder how much Miserix affected Takadox becoming what we see in the story proper or if he was already a slimeball and Miserix just took advantage of that. Meanwhile Takadox seems to at least somewhat genuinely care about Miserix based on his reaction, which gives an interesting layer to his character. The idea that Takadox, someone who mainly sees others as toys or obstacles, would have had someone he actually loved and cared about is soo compelling to me and for that person to be someone as powerful and menacing as Miserix makes it even better. Their relationship has so much potential and I wish we had gotten to see them interact in canon. Oh well, at least we have fancontent and headcanons to satisfy those needs!
Favorite headcanon
His voice has an incredible vocal range and as such can vary his voice to sound between extremely feminine and masculine. His "regular" speaking voice he defaults to is either androgynous or does that weird thing where he manages to sound both feminine and masculine at once. It's hard to explain what I mean but basically speaking in a way that sounds like two people speaking at once.

I made this post before about the trans episode of The Good Doctor but that was on season 1, I'm on season 4 now and there's another one! Like last time, I loved the ep, and I will give you context:
The episode 4x09, "Irresponsible Salad Bar Practices" (title unrelated to the patient btw) includes the case of Rio, a trans man with a brain tumor. He is an adult (unlike the trans character of the last ep), has been on T for a while and has had top surgery (the actor, a trans man himself has lovely top surgery scars, but i digress). He's also in a relationship with a cis gay man, that's important to know.
The episode starts with him doing a check up, where Dr. Reznik asks him for his gender and pronouns to update the hospital records cause "Software clearly needs a trans update." Ok, the important bit is that Rio need surgery to remove the tumor. The tumor has grown rapidly, they think because of high levels of hormones... Rio is pregnant.
This all is handled nicely and respectufl, not once he is missgendered, not once they assume any of the patients decisions because of his gender or his pregnancy. Except fo Shaun (surprise!). As always, because he's a stereotype of an autistic man, he asks very inappropriate and offensive questions that are none of his business and are not medically relevant. Just because he wants to understand.
This annoys me, but I can't really complain cause it's also what I like the most in these types of episodes. Shaun genuinely wants to learn and be better.
Anyways, he asks Rio's boyfriend, Eli, if he "considers himself gay" even though he "has vaginal intercourse". Eli answers with some restraint (I would have punched him, who the fuck cares, Eli isn't even your patient. But anyways...).
Later on in the episode, Shaun says the following line when talking to Eli (which saves the entire thing imo). "I read that cisgender people often reduce transgender people to their genitalie, and that that is offensive. Did I do that to you and Rio? I'm sorry."
EDIT: Sorry, I forgot to add the rest of my favorite line! Shaun says he's confused about Rio because he has gone through hormone replacement therapy, he has had top surgery but now "he's choosing the most female act" and Eli, very calmly responds "it's not female if Rio is doing it" which is exactly what I said to my mom one time when there was an interview on tv about a pregnant trans man. I love that line. Pregnancy is only a female act, when females do it. Anyways, Shaun looks taken a back for a second and just answers "yes" and then continues to talk about how Rio must have dealt with prejudice, and he relates to that.
This proves once again that Shaun wnats to learn, cares about learning, and he can do it on his own. He didn't harrass his trans patient with questions (at least after realizing he didn't like that). He went and did research on his own, realized his mistake and apologized. That's so important to me! Because none of his offensive remarks, on this episode or back to the one in season 1, none of those comments where from a place of hate. And I do want to bring up this point again, that his ignorance about trans issues has nothing to do with his autism. His bluntness and need of logical understanding have (because, again, he's a stereotypical cookie cutter autistic writen by allistic people). His ignorance has a lot to do with the fact that this man was homeless for a while, didn't have a supportive enviroment, i don't really know what his school life was like, but he lived in a small town, his "mentor" was his younger brother, who died when they were kids. It's not like he had many oportunities to open his mind to the wonders of the trans community you know?
Once again, not defending transphobia or justifying anything. Just sharing my humble opinion about the lowest rating episode of the whole show so far, according to IMDb (although that has everything to do with the reviews being like "this woke series, why do you talk about trans issues and racism? this is supposed ot be ESCAPISM not a documentary" as if that was a valid review lol).
The episode also included a case to do with racism, which I also really enjoyed and think it was handled nicely. But alas, I don't think my opinion is too important as a white dude who doesn't know much about racism and the shit that black people go through, specially when seeking medical attention. I can give my opinion on trans issues all I want, but that's as far as my experience goes.
Btw, Rio had his surgery, is perfectly fine and soon to be a dad with his lovely soon to be husband Eli :')

Dangan: - Single-handedly got me through the pandemic, mental health wise - Most personally relateable depiction of an autistic character, even if he isn't 'canon autistic' - Got me into writing! fourth because my main fandom + indecisive. - met my best friend because of it! Ace Attorney: - Has some of the best female characters. I love them. <3 - Introduced me to some of my favorite streamers. - Nobody does family legacy like Ace Attorney, with the Lannisters in a distant second. Tywin would be fuming about that, if he knew.
Homestuck: - Has one of my favorite depictions of a disabled person in Terezi. (Other is Peril from Wings of Fire if you are curious.) - Found it during the exact part of my life when I was coming to terms with my sexuality, and the canon queer characters really helped. I actually started reading it on my 13th birthday, since a friend made a homestuck joke about the day and I was curious. - Made me feel like I could still tell a story even if I wasn't an amazing artist.
One Piece: - Best. Worldbuilding. Ever. - Asides from ships featuring my squick of large age gaps, there are no ships I dislike. Every character has a good dynamic with every other. - Has the highest fanfiction quality out of all my fandoms, don't tell my other fandoms. Hazbin/Helluva: - Waiting for it to come out helped with my mental health and visualize the future. - Has a canon Sapphic ship that I relate to, which is a rarity. (I'm happy for all canon rep, but most just aren't me, you know?) - Best representation of abuse I've personally seen. Madoka: - I feel like I never run out of ideas for Madoka!!! Has beaten my writer's block so many times. - Best fanart quality out of all my fandoms, don't tell my other fandoms! - I've seen NO Madoka discourse. Peaceful. Love it here. Asoiaf: - I love that it has so many GNC women, and none of them feel cliche. Arya, Brienne, Dany. None of them are just "the tomboy". ASOIAF doesn't have the best track record with women, but I do appreciate the hell out of that. - As an abusive relationship enjoyer, THERE ARE SO MANY OPTIONS. Currently enjoying everything with Ramsay because I am... predictable. - There's so goddamn much of it. Can I ever run out of shit? Probably not.
Death Note: - Watched it with a friend I no longer talk to but hold in high esteem. - The fandom is so goddamn funny you do not know! - Got me into anime. I wouldn't enjoy any of my other fandoms without death note.

Hello! I don't know if you've been asked about this before but I love your analysis and reflections and I'd love to know all your thoughts about Zennezu if you don't mind 👀⚡🎀 Thanks so much for this blog!! 😊💝
Thank you again for your patience, as well as your comments on my fics and stuff in the meantime (even on Bird Fic, kya~ thank you <3). All my thoughts, hmmmmn…. Well, clearly I am a fluffy ZenNezu shipper and ship-content creator now, but I sure didn’t start that way. This may be long and rambling and mixed between analysis and personal taste. (Actually, it turned into almost 4000 words.)
So. First a little background. I usually am not much of a shipper. The very few OTPs I have all ended in horrific tragedy, and when romance is a big focus of something I’m otherwise enjoying I usually end up not paying much attention to it in favor of all the other elements I like. This is so much more the case when you can tell they’re going to wind up happily ever after. So what happened to make me so soft and fuzzy about the Kimetsu ships, when I otherwise usually don’t have an appetite for happy fluffy romantic endings?
Three major factors: 1. I’m obsessed. 2. I love these characters and want to see anything and everything about them. 3. Romance wasn’t actually a big element at all in canon, so it left me with an appetite and curiosity for it.
Even though I figured from long ago that ZenNezu would be end game, initially I was somewhere between indifferent and put-off. As much as I love Zenitsu, and I acknowledge that Ufotable the added the “run around and chase Nezuko” bit and removed the part with Zenitsu adoringly talking to Nezuko through her box, and as much as he can be defended for being lonely rather a pervert, the fact still stands that his level of appreciation for girls makes the characters around him uncomfortable. His most cringe-worthy lines at the Butterfly Mansion are all straight from the manga, and even though he was easily one of my favorite characters by the end of my initial watch of the series, I was very put off by his “girls are all queens” surface-level comments and more disturbing pleasure he took in the presence of girls (especially when he could physically interact with them), not to mention his pathetic introduction bothering a complete stranger and displaying that he doesn’t actually take girls’ feelings into consideration.
All this made me inwardly groan, feeling bad for Nezuko, figuring they were going to wind up together because she’s a saint who can find the patience to deal with someone like that, as he clearly wasn’t going to be desirable to any of the rest of the female cast. Enjoying the series well enough despite this, it didn’t bother me terribly much, pairings happen, whatever, I have a history of ignoring them. But one day, well and deep into caring about this whole cast like they’re all my children, I realized something. Isn’t… isn’t it cute how they both get their strength from taking naps? W-wouldn’t it be cute to see them innocently take naps together? Naps to protect each other? Oh. Oh-h-h-h-h. Oh dear. Oh no, it’s cute. Oh no. OH NO.
And that was how my warming up to this pairing started, it very quickly grew into “I love these children and I want them to be happy, being with Nezuko will make Zenitsu very, very happy, I love seeing him happy, happy Zenitsu” but was still a little reserved about Nezuko. Zenitsu was going to make her happy, right? It wasn’t just going to be a case of Nezuko having gotten fond of him over the course of everything they’ve been though, he is actually going to be her taste and make her heart go “kyun” right? Oh Nezuko, oh saintly Nezuko…
Let’s take a moment to pause here and think chronologically, though, as well as analyze their personalities and tastes. Neither of them are particularly picky, we can start there. Aside from fussy busy-bodies like Aoi, as long as it’s a girl, any girl is Zenitsu’s type. He’s desperate, and he’s painted the whole of girl-kind in pretty similar, not always realistic rosy colors. Even though he’s been used and abused by so many girls in his past, it’s his desire to believe that each new one he meets will fit that rosy imaginary color he paints over them that he chooses to let himself be duped, because he really is that lonely. I’ll give him that, sure, he’s a healthy young man with an interest in physical touch, but his dream in Mugen Ressha gives a good indication of what he’s really looking for: companionship, someone who likes spending time with him, someone who will find him useful and believe in him and look to him for protection, someone who likes him enough to spare him the physical intimacy of simply holding his hand. This is all an extension of what Zenitsu desires as whole, hoping he can better himself enough to be reliable and valued in general. Picturing it in the form of a significant other is one very vivid way to focus all those feelings, resulting in that rosy ideal which Zenitsu probably knows in his heart of hearts is too good to be true. That’s why he probably doesn’t think he’s ever going to find it, and therefore why he’s all over any slightest chance of attaining it.
My gosh, if being abandoned over and over isn’t enough, the fact that none of the girls he dated in the past were ever willing to even hold his hand hurts so much.
Nezuko, though, grew up in a secure family with a good relationship to observe between her parents. She probably always envisioned growing up to be like her mother, the quintessential “good wife, wise mother” (a phrase coined later on in the Taisho period to idealize the traditional roles of a woman). She cooks and cleans and sews and the first fanbook even tells us she was good at using an abacus, so she can handle family finances like a pro. Her traditional values probably made her tastes pretty standard, hoping for a reliable protector, but also someone who might be as kind as her father and her brother. But as for what makes her heart go doki-doki? The extra comic at the end of volume 3 tells us that she does long since have a type, it’s a person who’s like a Hisha.
Hisha: a chess/Shougi piece that can move an unlimited number of spaces in horizontal and vertical directions, and is crowned a dragon when it enters enemy territory.
So, yes, this is the part where we all smile and point at Gotouge and say, “I see what you did there, Wani-sensei.”
I find this reassuring; it tells me that Nezuko can find her heart squeezed at how cool Zenitsu is instead of just coming around and liking him because she was flattered by his affection and learned to see how nice he is and stuff. There are plenty of nice Demon Slayers who are strong and cool protectors, but that ZING that Zenitsu has (when he’s asleep) is something that can make her heart race. I’m all for this. I hinge so much of my ZenNezu feelings on this Hisha comment.
The second fanbook states that Nezuko initially had trouble sorting out her memories, and because Zenitsu gave her two such different impressions, it felt like memories of two different people, but over time the memories overlapped to form one complete person. We could say that she and Zenitsu had two first meetings.
Initially, when she was in the box, her little demon heart did go doki-doki; it was the first time a boy besides her brother had protected her, so even though Oniichan is Number One in her heart for the general duration of canon, this encounter was sure to leave a flattering impression. However, when they met face to face that night, he was just some confusing dandelion yelling and screaming about weird stuff, and then he was just a confusing (and possible bothersome) dandelion wanting to hang around her and give her flowers and stuff. It’s anyone’s guess just how “there” Nezuko was at this stage, as she does seem to gain back more of her own will and thought processes over the course of the series, rather than being guided by very, very simple rules to govern her behavior.
Zenitsu feel in love at first sight, and the second fanbook tells us he asked Tanjiro about her human personality, seeing as she wasn’t fully there. He was initially doubtful that anyone so perfect as Nezuko could exist and figured Tanjiro must had been biased and therefore exaggerating, but can we blame Zenitsu for being a smidge guarded? He’s been let down a lot, after all.
We know from Taisho Secrets and side novels that Zenitsu spent a lot of time with Nezuko during their long recovery at the Butterfly Mansion. Even how much more thought we see Nezuko display in the Train arc, she probably underwent a lot of mental development in this time, and my guess is that due to how much he interacted with her, this is probably when Zenitsu went from being a strange dandelion to a strange companion. She probably focused more on the goldfish and the pretty flowers (which he did take her to see!) and any flattering mention of her brother, though. Zenitsu, I’m relieved to say, seemed to genuinely care about what would make Nezuko happy instead of selfishly assuming something like “she likes me too, she wants to marry me.” But knowing Zenitsu, he probably assumed that her willingness to spend time with him was an indication of being willing to talk marriage once she was more herself again, though.
Let’s pause here and put on our Oniichan goggles, though. Early on, Tanjiro has to insist to just about everyone that Nezuko is still her own person with her own thoughts and feelings. Being a demon has taken a lot of her freedom to act on her true nature away from her, but he knows she’s still in there and he treats her like an equal human being. He had to watch over and over as people see his sister and only think, “demon.”
And then there’s his friend Zenitsu, who looks at her and thinks, “girl. Girl! Girl. Girl. Sweet girl, adorable girl, best girl in the world.” And maybe that’s a little bothersome, but yes, someone gets it!! Someone understands! Even though Tanjiro’s initial concerns are keeping Nezuko from being bothered by unwelcome advances, as long as Zenitsu is willing to respect that Nezuko is not entirely able to speak for herself now, he seems pretty approving of Zenitsu (provided Nezuko decides she likes him back). I’d like to think there was an unspoken promise between bros on what boundaries to follow. Besides that, Tanjiro believes in Zenitsu a lot more than Zenitsu believes in himself, so Tanjiro probably wasn’t worried about the “strong protector” role a future husband should fulfil. Or at least, Tanjiro doesn’t seem concerned once he gets to know Zenitsu, he’d have rejected Zenitsu flat-out on that first meeting. Zenitsu, you are so lucky Tanjiro is so forgiving.
However, for as much as Zenitsu sees Nezuko as “GIRL!! Girl, girl, girl!”, he’s still got his rosy vision that conveniently clouds out any disturbing realities. She is, after all, a demon.
This is something Zenitsu never actually had the chance to struggle with, and I would have really liked to see him challenged by that reality a bit more. He never witnessed Nezuko’s berserker mode, nor did he ever see her struggle to keep from eating someone, he wasn’t even awake to watch her fight like a violent animal/angry toddler on the train. Had there been a scene of Zenitsu forced to face how terrifying she had potential to be, it would had really sold his commitment to Nezuko specifically, instead of only Nezuko as his most likely girlfriend candidate.
On the train, Nezuko has the good fortune of seeing another side of Zenitsu, getting one hell of a doki-doki moment. As she’s gaining more self-awareness back, it probably made those doki-dokis more complex too. While I understand there wasn’t a good opportunity to fit in the pace of the story, I love that Taisho Secret of her concerned about him before he wakes up. Instead of him just being that boy who shows her pretty things and says nice things about her Oniichan, this is when he starts becoming something a little more unique among all the people whom little demon Nezuko has bet and who have been nice to her.
In the months that follow, we don’t get much deviation from this slow development. Zenitsu’s feelings toward Nezuko don’t really change at all, but there’s another thing about this ship: neither one chose the other over anybody else. They sort of just came together, Zenitsu gets hooked on one girl at a time, but what if someone had come along with an interest in him? At what point would he had given up on Nezuko? Probably pretty quickly, if someone was serious enough about him. It wouldn’t have been a break up either, since he was still in the pursuing stages (might be more of a break-up conversation with Tanjiro, who had been tacitly supportive).
Actually, for most of the remainder of the series, the affection that Nezuko and Zenitsu build for each other is done when they’re apart, dwelling on their thoughts of each other. For Nezuko, we see this come out after the Swordsmith Village arc in her sunlit elation to see him again, and her efforts to greet him. She very clearly recognizes him and is happy to see him, a big difference compared to how she was more elated by the sight of a fishbowl before. In Zenitsu’s case, this deepening of his affections and running away with his thoughts and feelings results him declaring once and for all, this is her. He’s found her. This is the girl who he will be committed to his whole life, in his heart she is already his wife.
When human!Nezuko is gaining her memories back, her first impressions are of the boy showing her pretty things and giving her flowers, someone who probably has a crush on her, rather than thinking back to someone who she may have had a crush on. (Those cool impressions probably hit her later, I’m assuming, given the stress of the moment.) Romance is not immediately on her mind, though she does quickly recall having friendly affection for this boy for has always been so sweet to her. And Nezuko, handling his surprising level of affection gracefully, helps Zenitsu off the battlefield while he’s in terrible pain (though she probably was too, my poor girl, that fight with demon!Tanjiro was so rough). But honestly, not only is she probably too overwhelmed by everything to think much about romance, but she probably doesn’t take Zenitsu very seriously initially. She knows he’s got a tendency to overexaggerate, and it’s nice that he’s so sweet to her, but since he acts all fluffy and silly around her she probably thinks he’s not being that serious either. Furthermore, she’s got a lot of people to suddenly care about, Zenitsu has a lot to contend with for trying to get special attention. Hell, Zenitsu was probably awake and causing a racket while she was frantic with worry that comatose Giyuu might die. While she did remake Jiichan’s haori to fit Zenitsu’s later, see spent her time in the hospital mending Giyuu’s haori (Nezuko, baby, doesn’t your hand hurt though!?). While Zenitsu was swept up in happy “Nezuko is human now, we’re totally gonna get married” feels, he probably didn’t even notice that he was only one slice in a very big pie of memories that Nezuko suddenly found in her lap and had to slowly chew and digest.
So… this brings us to the extra post-canon comic in the second fanbook, which I initially did not like very much back when it came out in February. I’ve come around a lot to it, but what really hit me at first was “oh no, Nezuko really is only going to accept this marriage because she’s a saint, he’s not being desirable at all.”
But, treating it with a little more patience and sympathy for Zenitsu… he’s just gotten what he’s always wanted, of course he’s going to stop striving a bit and get blissfully carried away in it. And Nezuko, the ever sweet, isn’t going to stop him.
Some of the other commentary in the fanbook states that Zenitsu, for a time, found himself terrified of how girls could be sweet to his face while hiding their true thoughts about him. But, finding that Nezuko was not at all two-faced, he nearly “died and went to heaven” as the exaggeration goes. He doesn’t like to work hard in the first place (but does, because it will make people like Jiichan proud), so getting away with being spoiled is too big of a temptation to resist. Nezuko is sensitive to what makes the people around her happy or uncomfortable, so she never makes any request of Zenitsu. She’s so grateful to have their new little family that her happiness is everyone else’s happiness, she doesn’t really desire a heartthrob romance, even if being a wife and mother is an eventual goal. And, without being under any pressure to make someone proud, Zenitsu gets swept away and indulges.
Thank you, Tanjiro, for putting a stop to this.
He’s still rooting for Zenitsu, since this is his friend and he knows it would make his friend happy to wind up with Nezuko, but he’s setting himself up for failure, or setting Nezuko up to be cheated out on a good match at this rate (if she were to accept out of being nice). Very, very thankfully, Zenitsu responds well to pressure. By this point Nezuko has gotten so used to sweet but indulgent Zenitsu that he seems she totally accepted that his Hisha side didn’t exist anymore, if it even existed in the first place.
Good for Zenitsu asking for her response a year later (when they’d be getting to the legal marriage ages for the Taisho period anyway), he knew he still had shaping up to do to earn her affection. And Nezuko probably needed time to build some admiration for him again, since the doki-dokis were so gone. Even if he couldn’t use that super cool Thunder Breath anymore, it would probably catch her attention to see him strive again, to put effort into being manly, specifically for her. It wasn’t just the Thunder Breath that gave her doki-dokis, it was the Hisha knight-like attitude too, whether asleep and acting on his inner potential, or awake and bravely defending her based on his own goodness and faith.
I hope that in their married life, Zenitsu will retain that sort of manliness in being a provider for her, even he does get indulged a lot at home.
Now for how this plays into some of my fanwork and headcanons:
You know how I said all my OTPs were tragedies? Yeah, I love a good dose of angst. I did start writing a single-scene fic one time of injured Zenitsu desperately trying to cover Nezuko from the sun while waiting for Tanjiro to find them, and in Nezuko’s panic about the sun she starts losing her self-control over her appetite, and Zenitsu is forced to confront that the girl he loves could very easily kill him. I never finished it, though, and it was embarrassingly self-indulgent.
For my big favorite AU of a monster fanfic, I did add more ZenNezu on the massive edit, because by this point I just enjoy ZenNezu so much that I wanted more of it. But!! What I really like about working with it in this fic is that there’s a conflict: Demon!Tanjiro. In this canon divergence, Human!Nezuko and Zenitsu get to interact more than they ever did while she was a demon, and they both already have affection for each other, but the lingering fact that Tanjiro is technically their enemy gives me some tension and angst to work with.
Yes, I wrote a One Shot of Zenitsu and Nezuko as fresh new parents, but it was a bit of a dark dive into Zenitsu’s feelings of inadequacy. But domesticity comes with some inevitable fluff anyway, and likewise it felt embarrassing indulgent, and I can’t write fluff without a little bittersweetness. M…maybe the reason I’m not a shipper is because I’m easily flustered???
I’d like to think that Zenitsu got a desk job that he worked hard at because he wants to be a provider, and Nezuko does find his hard work attractive. I headcanon it was at an electric company, because hahahaha, electricity. I’d like to think he had a long career in that company (and although his colleagues know him for having a bit of an extreme personality and being obsessed with his wife, they sometimes catch glimpses of a very, very strong side of Zenitsu—like, scarily strong), and that when he’s old and retired in the Postwar Economic Miracle, he buys a fancy camera to take pictures of Nezuko (instead of “say cheese” it’s “Thunderclap and Flash!”), and he takes Nezuko to Paris because that’s the romantic thing to do. Also, I don’t like moustaches as a rule, but I totally approve of old man Zenitsu having a fluffy moustache.
World War Two, though… I’d like to think that if his job had him in the city, he was extremely reliable when it came to protecting his family in case of bombing. I’d also like to think that this was when the Kamado family moved to the city, because Nezuko was worried about Kanao and her nieces and nephews, so Zenitsu made sure they were all together. Inosuke might had taken the opposite route and taken his family to the mountains to shelter out there in the wild.
AAAAHHHH, listen to me being so self-indulgent with headcanons, I pride myself on sticking close to canon in my fanwork, I will never produce this, AAAAHHHH, I’m embarrassed~~~~I---I’m not a shipper! No! I don’t have a shipper’s bone in my body! Who needs romance, it means nothing to me, I don’t get swept up in happy fantasies about young newlywed Zenitsu and Nezuko, really I don’t, I take what canon gives me and I stick with it, I’m here for bromance and comradery and fights to the death, I—I don’t need disgusting fluffy feelings, ew, ew, no, really-----ahhh, too flustered, too flustered, too flustered, no, no, no, no, no, no, WHEN DID I BECOME A SHIPPER, nnnnnnnnhhhhjjjj
Which is all to say that Zenitsu and Nezuko as a pairing really grew on me, even though it is essentially a fluffy happy pairing that only got surface-level interaction and was never seriously challenged. It’s got some shadows lurking in there, especially diving into Zenitsu’s heart, but in general this was a slow build-up of mutual affection between two characters with pretty simple desires of their own, and most of all, a desire to see each other happy. That makes it a good comfort ship.
And they’re both are sleepyheads, hNNNGGGHHHhhhhHHHHHHHHHHH

"Cho Bomi?" said a familiar voice next to her.
The girl turned around to find none other than Kim Seokjin standing next to her in the middle of her sister's store.
"Oh! Hello how have you been?"
"Bomi-ah! Why do you sound so formal? You have never treated me like this before!"
Since she was a bit surprised, Bomi didn't answer right away. As she thought about the best way to address him, the silence made her realize someone was laughing near her.
"Jungkook-ah! What are you laughing at, brat!"
Her heart was beating fast, but she smiled through her nerves. He seemed to be the same boy that Bomi had met at school. They had never been classmates or friends, but they used to live close to each other. So whenever either of them saw the other walking home, they would go together.
She liked him because he was funny, cheerful and good company.
"Bomi, do your parents still live in the same house?"
"Yes" she replied "I went to visit them last weekend. I try to do it often".
"That's good, I also try to do that, but sometimes work doesn't allow it" he smiled as if his work was similar to hers. As if he also worked in an office.
"Jungkook" Jin called him, making gestures that the boy ignored "Come on Jungkook! Come here!" he yelled in exasperation, making his former bandmate stop checking the aisle and walk towards him. Jungkook had been walking around the store and looking out the jackets that Bomi's sister had for sale.
The boy came over and smiled shyly at her.
"This is Cho Bomi, we went to the same high school".
"Nice to meet you" Jungkook said a little nervous.
"Oh yeah, nice to meet you too" Bomi replied "I saw both of you on tv the other day. You did a very good job".
"Thank you very much" Jungkook said bowing his head. Bomi smiled noticing that he seemed to be having a hard time making eye contact with her.
"Were you an ARMY Bomi? Yeah, I should have known you'd be a devoted fan. I remember when we were in school, you always got easily obsessed with groups. Of course you were an ARMY!"
"What? That's so not true" Bomi complained, but he knew she was lying. At that time, she used to have notebooks and merchandise from her favorite groups.
"Don't lie, you were even a member of that dance group that-"
"Stop it Jin!" Bomi shouted covering his mouth with her hand, while he and Jungkook laughed at her reaction.
"That's not me anymore" Bomi said calmly, as he smiled.
"Why are you calling me Jin?" He told her, when Bomi took her hand away from his mouth.
Jungkook was silent as he watched the interaction.
"What? That's the name you use now".
"Yes, but you used to call me oppa".
"Why would I call you oppa, when I can call you Jin?
"What about honorifics! You are younger than me!"
Bomi smiled and shrugged.
"Then I will address you only as Kim Seokjin. And should I remind you? You're barely older than me".
"We were born in different years" Jin said, starting to get angry for real.
"Were you born in 1993?" Jungkook asked carefully, never losing his smile.
"Yes, exactly," Bomi replied as she kept an eye on the store. She had just realized that she hadn't been paying any attention and while she was chatting with Jin, some people had come in to shop.
"Oh, so you were born the same year as Yoongi-hyung".
"Um? The producer?" Bomi asked somewhat distracted. She was busy looking at a woman who seemed to be looking at the sizes of the jackets located at the back of the store "Yes, I was born on February 25 of that year".
"Wait, how did you know Yoongi was born in '93?" Jin asked, smiling mischievously.
"Mmm?" Bomi laughed happily "Jungkook just said it! Besides, everybody knows him. You were not the only ones to work with him. Stop trying to make me your fan Jin".
"I'm pretty sure you were and are an ARMY. I just need to prove it!" He insisted.
"I can see you're the same old Kim Seokjin" Bomi hadn't seen him in years, but here he was, making her feel like a teenager again "I'm glad you haven't changed".
The woman who had been browsing the store called her to buy a jacket, so Bomi excused herself and went to help her. From the cash register she could see Jin and Jungkook talking and gesturing as they went through the clothes.
"So, how long have you been working here? I haven't seen you before" Jin asked her as he paid for what he had bought.
"It's because I don't work here" Bomi smiled as she scanned some shirts "I'm doing my sister a favor. She is the owner of the store".
"Oh, the little woman?" Jungkook commented, deep in thought.
"Yes, that's her" Bomi's sister would have killed him if she had been present "Although she hates when people mention that she is small-"
"She is older than you, right? I don't remember meeting her" Jin stated as he handed Bomi his credit card.
"I don't think you met her. She was already finishing college when we were in high school".
"Yes, makes sense" with a permanent smile, he kept asking her questions "But what do you work on? When I started as a trainee, you were also in college".
Bomi began to put their purchases into paper bags, aware that their eyes were on her. The rest of the store was empty again, so there was no reason to rush. He could take the time to make conversation. After all, they were famous, and this wasn't something that happened to him on a daily basis.
"I wasn't sure about what I wanted to do when I entered university, so I studied art first and then I continued with different courses until I decided on advertising".
"Do you work for a company or...?"
Jin looked impressed. But, why? It wasn't glamorous and Bomi could bet he'd worked with plenty of publicists. After all, Jin was beginning to cement his career as a serious actor.
"No, I've been working independently for a couple of years now".
"Really? - Jungkook asked, eyes big in awe "Have you worked with someone we know?"
Bomi handed them their bags, just as a man and his son entered the store.
"I started working for a big company just when I finished university" Bomi explained "I had different clients, some more known than others. Now I try to work only with small shops".
Still looking at the customers, she walked them to the door. Jin seemed ready to continue talking, but Jungkook looked nervous. Despite being polite, he had been surreptitiously checking the time on the watch he had in his right wrist.
"But what does your job consist of?"Jin kept asking.
His face reflected that he was somewhat lost with everything Bomi had told him. She smiled warmly at him and he couldn't help but smile back.
He was still as handsome as he had been years ago.
When they were in school, many girls used to have a crush on him. It wasn't a surprise when Jin was discovered and entered a company as a trainee. Even less, when he became a famous idol. His group – BTS – had an impressive success, they broke many records and were the favorites of the public for a long time. That lasted until they unexpectedly parted ways.
"This is what I do" Bomi replied as she pointed to the shop windows "After resigning from the company I worked for, I took some interior design courses and with everything I learned, I started working as a Visual Merchandising manager".
"I didn't know that this was something you could work on" Jungkook commented looking surprised "I thought that the advertising teams in the companies did all that".
"Yes they do, especially in large companies. But sometimes smaller businesses and even some known stores need help with this. I started helping my sister, that's when I realized that I could make a career out of this".
Bomi had realized that she could work in that field, after many people approached her sister to praise the result, asking her if she could do the same for them too. Her sister had given them Bomi's card and she hasn't stopped working since then.
"It's really eye-catching" Jin said, giving Bomi two thumbs up "To tell you the truth, we got to know this store because the front caught our attention".
"Yes well done!" Jungkook showed her a heart with his fingers making Bomi laugh.
He was as nice as all the people said he was.
"Unfortunately we have to go" Jungkook added looking sad to interrupt the conversation "But, maybe, if you're interested... You could come to our party tonight".
"Yes, I would love for you to come!" Jin exclaimed enthusiastically "It's at my house, you can arrive anytime after 9".
"I don't think..." Bomi started to say, but Jin interrupted her.
"Please! We will be able to catch up without having to worry about the time".
She hesitated, it would be nice to be able to continue chatting with him, without having to worry about the store or the customers. But a party? Bomi couldn't imagine what kind of people would attend these parties. She wasn't going to know anyone and she wouldn't be able to converse with any other guest if Jin – or even Jungkook – were going to be fulfilling their role as hosts.
"Here" Jin said "Write your phone number and I'll send you the address. You can decide later if you can attend or not".
Bomi hesitated for a second, but finally picked up the phone and wrote down her number.
"I hope to see you tonight Bomi" Jin said receiving his phone back.
"I'll think about it" And with that last exchange, she watched them walk away from the store and dissappear down the busy street.
Turning one last time, they waved their hands in her direction and then blended in with the people walking by.
||||
There she was, still wondering if she should attend the party or not. Only this time, Bomi wasn't at her house, but standing right outside the address Jin had sent her.
Bomi was so agitated that she kept pacing back and forth as she wondered if she should go in or not. Were the clothes the right ones? Was she going to be very uncomfortable? After all, she hadn't seen Jin in years… Would there be many celebrities at the party? Could she dare to come in and be with them like it was nothing?
"Don't be silly Cho Bomi" She thought, berating herself "The only difference between you and them is the field in which they work. And well, maybe how many people recognize them on the street".
She squared up her shoulders and smoothed her blouse with her hands.
"Alright" she said, somewhat calmer "I'm ready".
As Bomi was about to ring her doorbell, a voice behind her said:
"It's probably open, after all, it's a party".
Bomi jumped at the sudden voice, and the man who had spoken to her walked past her and opened the door.
"You've been standing here for a while," she smiled kindly at him. "You should go in first."
"Did you see all that?" Bomi she couldn't be more embarrassed, her cheeks blushed and it was difficult for her to maintain eye contact.
Though the guy didn't seem to care at all.
"I'm Min Yoongi" he told her, extending his hand and ignoring her obvious embarrassment.
Bomi was so surprised at hearing his name that she forgot her nervousness and shook his hand.
"Huh, Min Yoongi" she thought enthusiastically.
"M-My name is Cho Bomi".
"Nice to meet you" he answered, letting go of her hand, "Shall we go in?" He asked, as he pointed to the door and started walking inside.
Bomi followed closely behind him, all the while wondering how long he had been watching her out there.
In any case, Min Yoongi didn't seem to care. After glancing over his shoulder one last time, he began walking directly into the living room of the house. Feeling the opposite, she thought that the whole encounter had been surreal and seemed straight out of a book. But despite that, she dared to admire his slim figure and dark hair as she walked behind him.
Bomi had always been a huge fan of music, but even if she hadn't been, it was almost impossible not to know him. Despite his young age, Min Yoongi had worked with almost every artist she admired, so it felt unreal to be in the same room with him.
"You are not coming?" At Yoongi's question, Bomi realized that she had started to walk slower and that she had almost lost him among the people who were already in the place. He directed the question at her, barely glancing over his shoulder. However, she hurriedly followed him, unable to prevent a big smile from appearing on her face.
Maybe coming to this party was a good idea after all.
However, just an hour later, Bomi was beginning to question that statement. She was in the kitchen drinking a beer and trying to work up the courage to walk over to Jin, who was sitting at a table chatting with his friends.
At first she had sat with Yoongi, and he had been very polite and nice. Bomi had only started to feel awkward, right after other people joined them. They had started talking about music and producers, without changing or leaving that topic of conversation. Not knowing anyone and not being able to contribute much, she remained silent as she tried to follow what was being said.
At a certain point in the party, an already drunk Jungkook had come over to greet her cheerfully. Which prompted, that shortly after, Jin walked over to where she was sitting and did the same.
"Why don't you go get a beer in the kitchen and join me and my friends?"
Bomi had been happy to do so, but when she was purposefully walking towards Jin – beer in hand – she had recognized Kim Taehyung sitting among his friends. Situation which made Bomi quickly return to the kitchen and stayed hidden there.
How was she going to face Taehyung?
Bomi sighed. Jin had been right when he had made all those assumptions about her. She used to be a fan of many groups, buying their merchandise, attending concerts and even paying for meet and greets. But, he had also got something else right, she used to be a big fan of BTS.
Bomi had even gone to a “fan meeting” a few years ago, after making sure that she wasn't going to run into Jin. She had never attended one before, for fear of running into him. But on that occasion, Jin had been sick and without knowing it, he had made everything easier for her as a fan.
And it was precisely at that event, where she had taken photos with her bias: Taehyung. Even now, years later and knowing he wouldn't recognize her, Bomi was still embarrassed to meet him. Of course, she also didn't want Jin to find out he was right and make fun of her.
"What are you doing here Bomi noona?" A very drunk Jungkook suddenly asked her, startling her "Why aren't you there with Jin hyung? He was very happy to see you again. You're the only thing he's talked about all day".
"Oh" Bomi didn't know what to say, she just watched Jungkook with concern. His eyes were red and he had food stains on his clothes, but Bomi believed that he was more concerned about what he could continue to drink, than the state he was in "Are you okay?"
"Yes, yes" he replied, smiling lazily "I've never been better" But his body betrayed his words, as he tripped over the refrigerator while trying to get another drink.
"You really should go sit with him," Jungkook insisted, as he successfully managed to grab a beer and start drinking it.
"Yes, I should" Bomi finished her own beer in one gulp and grabbed another one from the fridge "Wish me luck".
"Good luck" Jungkook said happily, as he waved goodbye to her.
Bomi smiled and started walking towards Jin.
Pretending not to be nervous, she walked straight ahead and sat between Jin and Taehyung. Jin smiled enthusiastically at her and went on to introduce her to his friends.
"Guys, this is Cho Bomi, we studied at the same school and our parents are still neighbors".
"Hello" she said, clearly intimidated.
After all, she was sitting between Jin and Taehyung and across from her was J&J, one of the most popular dance duos. They had become known alongside BTS, because they used to be their dancers, but they had eventually made a name for themselves and were still incredibly popular.
They were very friendly and easygoing, so Bomi quickly understood why the whole country was in love with them. And of course, without mentioning that both were extremely attractive.
"So, you met Jinnie. When exactly?" Jimin asked, smiling mischievously. His eyes almost seemed to close, from how wide his smile was.
"When we were around twelve?" Bomi replied, looking lost in her thoughts "I'm not so sure, we were schoolmates since around that age until we graduated. After that, he became an idol".
"So, you guys have known each other for many years" Hoseok said thoughtfully "Did you ever go out together when you were younger?"
"What?" Bomi started laughing so hard, she almost spilled her beer on the table "We never went out together, he wasn't interested and neither was I".
"How do you know I wasn't interested in you?" Jin asked, looking at her in an amused way.
"Uhhh" Jimin, Hoseok and Taehyung murmured at the same time. They were truly invested in the story and sipped slowly from their glasses, listening actively and trying not to miss anything.
"I just know" Bomi didn't know how to interpret the look Jin was giving her at that moment "Also, in case he didn't mention it, but I bet he did, all the girls in school had a crush on Jin. They used to follow him everywhere and even gave him gifts, chocolates and anything else you can think of".
"Impressive," Taehyung commented, as he managed to continue drinking.
"Except you".
"What?"
"You weren't following me anywhere" Jin said quietly.
"Of course not" Bomi answered, not knowing very well what else to say "You were busy enough".
"Sounds like hyung didn't have time to spend with you" Taehyung asked "How come you got so close?"
"Couldn't say we were" Bomi risked a glance at him, but his expression didn't give much away.
"But, we did walk home together every day".
"Almost every day, Jin" Bomi corrected.
"I don't remember it that way" he replied, a dreamy look in his eyes.
At this, Bomi felt her heart skip a beat, only to start beating wildly right after. She averted her gaze and dedicated herself to listening intently to the conversation, which had taken a new direction while she and Jin were looking at each other.
By now, everyone seemed pretty drunk, which made Bomi wonder if any of them were going to remember anything about what happened tomorrow morning.
Jin was the only one who seemed like he could handle his liquor. But, perhaps it was related to the fact that he was the main host, this being his house. Maybe he had just been drinking less.
"Hey hyung" Hoseok caught Jin's attention "Did you invite him?"
"Of course! I always invite him!" Jin was starting to get angry, his ears had turned red and his face didn't look friendly anymore "He's the one who never shows up!"
Taehyung leaned over to Bomi and tried – failing miserably – to whisper in her ear: "They're talking about Namjoon hyung".
"Oh" was all she could say.
It was common knowledge that one of the reasons why BTS had broken up had to do with the only rapper in the group, Kim Namjoon. Better known by his stage name RM.
Before the group disbanded, there were countless rumors about RM being a difficult person to work with and that fame had gone to his head. Eventually, when the news broke, and his band and company acknowledged the breakup rumors to be true, almost everyone – if not all – blamed the band's breakup on him.
Bomi had never been so sure about that, but seeing how Taehyung and Jin had forged their own acting careers and how Jungkook's music was always at the top of the charts; it made her realize that maybe, RM might have had something to do with the split.
But, if that was true, it was safe to say that he had already paid enough for it. After the scandal, he returned to his music career as a rapper, but his success was never close to that of the other BTS members. RM even worked with the same producer as Jungkook – Yoongi – but the results were nowhere near his.
"I really would love for Namjoon hyung to stop this stupidity and get over his pride. No one blames him for anything about what happened" Taehyung muttered "I mean, it's all in the past isn't it?"
"Sure" Jin answered, looking visibly tense.
Bomi put a hand on his arm and asked:
"Are you okay?"
"Yes, yes" he said not very convinced. He looked at her for a moment and then leaned closer to ask:
"Do you like my house?"
"Ah? Bomi returned an astonished look, but he looked serious. He really seemed interested in hearing the answer "Yes, from what little I've seen, I find that it is very pretty".
"Do you want me to give you a tour?" he said playfully. The somber tone that the conversation had taken had changed back to something calmer, and it even seemed as if a weight had been lifted from the shoulders of all of them.
"Really? I'd love to!"
"Well, come on then, I'll show you the second floor first".
Jin showed Bomi around the different rooms. One was his study, another looked like a music room, it even had a guitar and a piano. He quickly showed her a bathroom and in the end, he led her to the main room.
"I must tell you Jin, I think you have amazing taste. All the furniture fits so well with the structure of the house. And don't get me started on the colors you chose".
Bomi was in heaven, he really had everything well placed and with impeccable taste.
"This is my bathroom, but I'm not going to show it to you, since it looks exactly the same as the other two in the house".
Bomi smiled for the thousandth time that night and walked past the bathroom until she reached the window.
"Does it work as a door?" She asked him.
"Yes, let me open it for you".
Bomi stepped out onto a balcony, with Jin following close behind.
"It feels so cool out here" he commented looking at the sky "Too bad we can't look at the stars today, although with the pollution it's difficult any day".
Jin laughed, but in reality, he wasn't looking at the night sky, his eyes were fixed on her. Bomi blushed a little, but the icy breeze felt refreshing once it made contact with her face.
Looking away from him she said:
"I really loved what you did with your house".
"It wasn't really me. My mom helped me choose almost everything".
"Well, then it's your mom who has good taste".
"I bought the house just before one of our world tours, so my mom was in charge of everything. I didn't move here until all was said and done with BTS. So, even now, the house has a bittersweet feeling about it".
"I'm sorry to hear that" Bomi really didn't know what to say, that was clearly a subject that still haunted and hurt Jin.
They were silent for a few moments, which gave Bomi a chance to really appreciate Jin's features. He was still as handsome as ever, but the sadness in his eyes gave his face an otherworldly look.
Bomi touched his hand and held it there. After years of walking home together and a couple more years admiring him from afar at concerts or on tv; this was the first time that Bomi felt that she could really fall in love with him.
When he looked back at her, she was smiling so peacefully that Jin couldn't contain himself anymore. And so, he leaned down and gently kissed her lips. And it was as if Bomi had been waiting her whole life for this moment, so she answered to the kiss with such intensity that they were both surprised.
"Maybe we should go inside" Jin whispered close to her lips "Someone could take a picture of us here".
He ushered her inside, but left the balcony door open so that the dim light from outside filled the room once he turned off the main lights.
Bomi stood near the bed not knowing what to do, but Jin walked towards her until their bodies were almost touching. And then, when he looked at her, the intensity and need in his eyes made her shiver.
"Is it okay if I kiss you?" He murmured, showing a slight hoarseness in his voice. His eyes never left her face and his body was only inches away from hers.
Bomi had never felt this way. She had dated, she had made out with other men, she had done much more than that. But this? This was different, it contained an intensity she didn't think she could feel again.
Is it because it was Jin? Because she used to know him?
Bomi never got around to answering her question, because Jin leaned into her and placed a soft kiss on her jaw, causing her to hold on to his upper arms. His lips began to trace her cheek, leaving a warm trail on every part of the skin he touched. Bomi wanted him to kiss her on the lips, she wanted to feel the electricity running through her body as he touched her.
"Jin" she murmured, causing him to stop brushing his lips on her neck and turned his head toward her. Their faces met halfway and as he kissed her, he laid her down on his bed.
At first it was slow. His hands were calmly running all over her body, one of Bomi's hands tangled in Jin's hair and the other one caressing his neck and his broad shoulders. But then the intensity increased. Bomi pulled him even closer to her body and the kiss turned frantic, as if they couldn't get enough of each other.
"I'm kissing Kim Seokjin" Bomi thought in a split of a second, and a giggle escaped her lips.
"What's the matter?" Jin asked, without losing his smile.
"I'm doing what all my classmates dreamed of doing. And now it is no longer just their dream, it is probably the dream of half the planet as well.
"Well, there's a reason why they call me ´World Handsome´".
Bomi let out a chuckle and Jin felt the vibration of her laughter throughout his body. His dark gaze studied her features: the small eyes, the freckles on her cheeks; and the full, pink lips.
His own mouth reflected Bomi's wide smile.
"We should have done this years ago" he commented, but when he approached her to resume the kiss, Bomi exclaimed:
"Wait!"
"Is everything alright?" Jin asked, surprised.
"Of course" she answered, slipping out from under him and walking towards the bathroom "I just need to use the toilet for a second".
"Oh sure. I'll be right here, waiting" he commented casually, as he eased himself off her and prepared to rest on his back.
Bomi walked in the dark and struggled to find the doorknob. After groping for a few moments, she was finally able to open it. As she did, a strange metallic smell hit her and she wondered if it was related to the bathroom having poor ventilation.
When she finally found the light, Bomi turned it on without further questioning and went inside. However, the image in front of her eyes made no sense to her at first. Little by little, Bomi became aware of what she was observing, and the smell of iron and the body lying down in a pool of blood began to make sense to her in her head.
When Bomi's mind was finally able to process what she was seeing, a scream got caught in the back of her throat. Jungkook laid there, propped up in the tub, bloody marks all over his torso. Too late, Bomi realized that she had walked right into a pool of his blood.
This time, her scream echoed through the bathroom and onto the room, and the world seemed to spin faster and faster, only to stop abruptly.
||||
Bomi was perplexed, the scene in front of her eyes didn't seem to make sense. After a few seconds without understanding what was happening, her brain finally seemed to catch on to what she was seeing and Bomi screamed. She screamed louder than she had ever done.
Not knowing what to do, she backed out of the bathroom in shock, tripping over her own feet, falling to the floor.
Since he didn't understand what was going on with Bomi, Jin jumped up from the bed he had been lying on and worriedly walked to the bathroom to see what had her crying on the floor.
Once inside, Bomi heard him scream and call Jungkook by his name. Through her own tears, she heard him cry and speak desperately to him.
"Jungkook, no! Wake up! JK, JK" Bomi didn't want to hear it, she wanted to close her eyes and wait to wake up from this terrible nightmare. She didn't think it was possible to erase the image of Jungkook from her mind.
"Bomi call someone… Help! Someone please help!"
She didn't think she could be of any use in the state she was in, but after getting up a little shakily, she felt herself woke up at Jin's desperate screams. Bomi wanted to run away, but she did her best to seek the help Jin was begging for.
With difficulty, she walked down the hall until she found the stairs and went down as fast as she could. Since she wouldn't stop crying, she wiped her eyes with her hand to try to clarify her vision and with the other she leaned against the wall to stay upright.
Unable to hold back her sobs and moving erratically, Bomi thought of looking for her purse so she could call the police. However, Yoongi intercepted her before she could find her bag. The producer had been in the bathroom on the first floor when he thought he heard screams. He didn't give a damn about it, until he walked out to find Bomi crying and looking scared.
"Help! Please help him" she insisted, her tears leaving traces on her face.
"What's the matter? What it's wrong?" Yoongi was starting to get scared, so he grabbed her shoulders tightly. Bomi looked like she was about to collapse.
"Jungkook! Oh Jungkook!" Bomi seized Yoongi's forearms. The young woman was shivering and when he gave her a closer look, he noticed that her slippers were covered in something that looked like blood.
"What about Jungkook? What happened?" Yoongi asked again, scared to hear the answer.
"He is, oh no, he is, oh God!"
Bomi seemed to revive everything and her cries that had begun to mitigate, worked its way past her lips again. Seeing her so affected and trembling, seemed like a confirmation to Yoongi. Trusting her words, he ran upstairs, chasing his gut feeling and the sneaky suspicion that something terrible had happened.
Unable to take it anymore, Bomi sank to the ground feeling the air around her dissappear.
Yoongi didn't know how he got to the second floor or how he got to the bathroom. But he was sure of one thing, Jin's screams, his shrieks were getting louder and would echo forever in his head.
The image that he found in that bathroom was one that he never thought he'll witness. Despite the fact that he had run knowing that something had happened, he did not believe that it would be so tragic and that it would trigger so many misfortunes.
Jin was sitting on the bathroom floor cradling Jungkook on his chest, blood staining his shirt and his pants. Jungkook laid motionless, his eyes closed and his arms open. An obvious wound peeked out from under one of the many tears in his white tee.
Quickly and without stopping to think, Yoongi took out his phone and called the police.
"Hyung you need to get out of here" Yoongi told Jin, as the call connected "We have to make sure whoever did this doesn't leave... Hello, I need the police to come to the following address..."
Jin was barely listening to Yoongi, all he could think to do was keep calling Jungkook and wait for him to wake up. He didn't want to give up, he couldn't. They had known each other for years, ever since Jungkook was a kid. Jin had taken him to school, made him lunch... he really felt like he was his younger brother.
They had been through so much together, so much hardship to get to where they were, always side by side. Jin couldn't give up. Keep saying his name was the only thing he seemed to be able to do for him now.
"Seokjinnie hyung" Yoongi's hand touched his arm "The police is on their way, I'll make sure no one gets in, but you need to pull yourself together".
"I can't" sobbed Jin, tremors going through his body "Jungkookie..."
"I know, I know it's difficult" Yoongi's voice also sounded shaky, his eyes struggled not to shed tears "But we need to declare, say what happened, otherwise they won't be able to find the culprit".
Despite his words, Jin remained motionless. Yoongi stood up and tried to go downstairs to find Bomi, worried about how she was doing. But as he walked through the corridor, he noticed she wasn't there anymore. Once in the kitchen's door, he saw that there were some people who were looking at Bomi with curiosity and others that were already walking out of the front door.
"Shit".
Taehyung was kneeling next to Bomi, who had just managed to walk into the dining room, but had returned to the same position Yoongi had left her in. Taehyung was obviously too drunk to understand what Bomi was telling him, but more than one guest had already gotten the reason why she was crying.
"I don't understand" Taehyung said dragging his words "What is that about Kookie? He's fine, Bomi, right? He's out there having a drink, he'll come soon".
Bomi shook her head as she clung to Taehyung, since she didn't feel able to hold her own body.
"No, no, no" she insisted, causing curiosity in those who were close enough to listen "Everything is wrong, he is up there and he isn't moving! He is there, just there… And all that blood… Oh Jungkook!".
Several people, hearing Bomi's words, thought that the young woman was very drunk. Others believed what they heard, so they quickly grabbed their things and left. A few were curious enough and had started to go up to the second floor to see if what she was saying was true.
This was something that Taehyung picked up on and as he followed them with his eyes, he realized that Yoongi was blocking the access to the second floor and trying to prevent people from passing. His face looked serious, but paler than usual and he couldn't stop wringing his hands.
As if an icy wave had washed over him, Taehyung wondered if what Bomi was trying to tell him was that something had happened to Jungkook. Something bad.
Feeling suddenly sober, Taehyung helped Bomi to her feet and dragged her to the kitchen. Staggering, they managed to position themselves on some chairs and he asked again:
"What happened?"
Bomi restlessly shook her head. She didn't want to repeat it again.
"Please, I couldn't, I couldn't understand you..."
"Jin and I-I, I mean, I went up and he was there covered in blood and-" Bomi was talking, but it didn't make sense to him "I can't get his face out of my head or t-the image... Lying there on his own blood..."
Bomi continued to cry and Taehyung felt like he was going to faint. He still didn't quite understand, but he had seen Yoongi. He wouldn't have been this nervous and preventing people from going upstairs for any reason.
"I'll go and come back" he said, standing abruptly.
"No" she whispered, holding his hand.
Taehyung wasn't in the best condition, but he managed to wriggle out of her grasp and pushed Yoongi aside, so he could walk the hallway and climb the stairs. Bomi shuddered at what he was about to see.
Faster than he would have believed, Taehyung was back. He looked pale and had blood stains on his knees, as if he had dropped to the ground.
Without warning, the young man doubled over and threw up on the floor. Bomi got up to try and help him, but he clung to her crying. After an initial struggle, Bomi managed to guide him to the chairs again and to hold him in her arms.
Taehyung never said anything, he just hugged Bomi while crying and she was grateful for the distraction of having to comfort someone else. But how did you console someone who had just lost such an important person in his life?
It seemed to Yoongi that the police took forever. When he managed to stop people from trying to go upstairs - except for Taehyung who had pushed him aside - he headed over to check on Jin. But he was still in the same position as before, only he wasn't crying anymore. Now, Jin was staring into space, while rocking Jungkook's body back and forth in his arms.
||||
Bomi didn't hear or see anything else as she tried to comfort Taehyung. Without realizing it, both of them had reached the living room, sitting there for a long time, with a blanket wrapped around them both.
She kept seeing Jungkook's lifeless body in front of her eyes. Both, the slippers and the socks she was wearing were covered in dried blood, and the potent stench seemed to have stuck in her nose. She knew that it would be a long time before she could forget that terrible smell.
The police were everywhere inside the house. The remaining guests were either being questioned or having their information taken, as most of them were in no condition to answer questions.
Since they had been the ones at the crime scene, Bomi, Jin, and Yoongi had to wait until the police were ready to question them. They had even told them they had to wait separately. Bomi was in the living room, Yoongi in the dining room and Jin in the foyer.
Jin couldn't stop crying. And when they had to remove him from Jungkook's body, he emitted such a heartbreaking cry that even Bomi - who was in the first floor - was able to hear it. Yoongi, pale and serious looking, held his friend in place as best as he could and spoke to him in a low voice, trying to reassure him.
Taehyung was being questioned at that very moment, but he was such a mess that his answers didn't make any sense. He, like almost everyone else, was devastated. Jungkook had been a very kind and loved person, and Bomi knew that for a long time - and from many parts of the world - he was going to be sincerely mourned.

Emma Roberts Movie Week
It’s actually a bit unexpected. I didn’t plan this, I just watched Scream IV and her character made me love her even more, then I did after Chanel. So I thought, why not, no matter that I planned Brendan Fraser Movie Week.
 Day 1: Scream IV (2011)
It’s not the movie I want to talk about (because I plan to make a post about the whole franchise, after watching the TV Series), but about he character. I mean, how awesome is watching Emma Roberts as psycho killer. Especially a very convincing psycho killer, trying to kill Sidney. After watching Scream Queens and knowing how well she plays bitchy characters, so it was very entertaining. The third act of course. Watching her as a side character was just okay. That’s really all I can say. So yeah, there you go folks. Also the villain monologue was fun. Just read for yourself:
Favorite Jill quote:
Jill Roberts: My friends? What world are you living in? I don't need friends. I need fans. Don't you get it? This has never been about killing you? It's about becoming you. I mean, for fuck's sake, my own mother had to die, no great loss there, so I could stay true to the original. That's sick, right? Well, sick is the new sane. You had your 15 minutes, now I want mine! I mean, what am I supposed to do? Go to college? Grad school? Work? Look around. We all live in public now, we're all on the Internet. How do you think people become famous any more? You don't have to achieve anything. You just gotta have fucked up shit happen to you. So you have to die, Sid. Those are the rules. New movie, new franchise. There's only room for one lead, and let's face it, your ingenue days, they're over. A bit long, yeah, but how great. Isn’t that weird, that her monologue is longer then my text about her character?

Day 2: Wild Child (2008)
A very linear teen drama, but in England. Why would I pick that? The real question is: Why not? I mean, yes, it’s stupid, and yes, I’m an adult, but I’m still a kid inside, and I know it’s a bad movie, but it was still entertaining sometimes. Again, watching Emma playing a bitch is fun, for 20 minutes, but it was still fun. If we got through the best part, let’s get to business. Her character growth was okay, her friends were okay, their relation was okay. The school bitch was awfully stereotypical, no matter that her first appearance said otherwise. I hoped at least that from that movie, but it didn’t even give me that, so...
The fun part tho was just turning my brain off for an hour and half, and just watch Emma hanging out with some teenagers with British accent. It’s still one of my favorite female celebrities. Also her name was Poppy! It could belike the flower, but hearing “Poppy” made me think about That Poppy. Which is always a little plus. Wow, that paragraph about the things I liked is too short. Hey, Nick Frost!
The montage was awful... it broke me from the movie every 30 seconds, which was hard to watch. Also the scene quick before the end was so cringe. At least for me. They were losing, then made a dance, and magically they won! (The dance was cringe, if someone were wondering)
Well that’s all, it was between average and okay.
Favorite quote:
Poppy: I didn't start it, it wasn't my fault, and if this were America, I would sue.
That’s true, OMC. America is beautiful, I love it, I want to visit it someday.

Day 3: The Art of Getting By (2011)
There is a thin line between being a good movie, and being pretentious. This movie sadly is on the wrong side of the line.
Don’t get me wrong, I still enjoyed watching this movie, it got to me, I love the main character, George, I can see myself in him, somehow. I always wanted to be that weird guy on the side, or I just want it, because these guys (like in this movie) alwayse ended up happy at the end, and I want the same thing for myself. But that’s a theme for different post. I liked seeing the world through his eyes. The scene showing how he wanted to get over Sally was great. Or when she broke him with the weird sex questions, during their “date”. Freddie’s acting was very convincing, and I didn’t saw the actor, I saw a boy with problems. The relations between him and the other characters and the way he reacten to every rational thing, he should do, but just couldn’t. I can also say a good thing about the side characters. I really liked them. The way they were created, even if some of theme didn’t have a lot of screen time, I had still fun spendind time with them. Like when Sallys’s mother told her, that she should be with George or when the painter struggled to be with Sally. I could also say about how I liked the montage and directing, but who cares? Also I liked the “development” of Freddie’s character, like in the first and second part who was becomind worse and worse...
Sadly the thing I was most anticipating in this movie was Emma Roberts and... well, Sally totally blows. I disliked her after 5 or so minutes. I’m not really sure if she’s such a bad actress, or it was just like her character was written, but Sally was so wooden. She was pretty, yes, but that’s just one of two things, that I think George could see in her (the second is, that she really cared about him and liked him, for example the scene, when they were sleeping next to each other, or when she called him every 5 minutes, whe he left her). I also really, really disliked her, when she broke my precious George! I mean, who does she think she is? (that’s not a blame on the movie, just another reason to not like her character, which isn’t a bad thing) Sally was the second most important character, but she dind’t develop at all. It was painfull to watch her in some scenes, beacause I knew that she would hurt George, because he wanted to go forwrd in some way, but she was staying the same all the time. Another thing I didn’t like was most of the third act. How George suddenly (I know it was because of his mother, he didn’t to upset her any more) change his attitude to life and so quickly straightened everything. It just wasn’t convincing for me. Also it was very predictable. Him, getting the diploma, her, going back to him, the painting, being Sally. Sad. Sadly. They could work on that a little more.

Sally Howe: What were you like as a child?
George Zinavoy: I was such a better person than I am now.
Sally Howe: Come on.
George Zinavoy: I'm serious. I was happy. I was open. I was curious. But I'll tell you this: I knew when it was ending. I was overwhelmed with sadness when I realized that I was going to change, and that it was all most likely going to get worse, like a nostalgia for the present. I couldn't shake it...
And it’s sad to say, that I dind’t like her creation. It really is. I hope it’s not her acting and I can see her again in a small movie, but with more. More to play and that she actually does it well. For now I like her justas the bitchy/psycho type.

 Day 4: Nancy Drew (2007)
Hey I’m actually keeping up! Only three das/movies left.
So I just looked up (on Wikipedia, I’m not a detective) that, as I thought, the movie is based on a book series for teenagers, with the same name.
I start with the things I liked. And don’t let it fool you, there were’nt as many. The start was quite fine and fun to watch. The city and the charachters living in it. Just the world created around Nancy in her home town was adorable, just to be fine for a few minutes. I also liked Nancy at some point. I guess Emma can play charismatic characters, not just bitches. Which is good, but it wasn’t very good acting, since it also wasn’t a role that needed a good actress, just because the writting was so doll. Ahh, I wanted to say, what I liked first. So I also liked the side characters from her home town, like her father and Ned, or some of the LA characters: just Jane and Leshing. And the styling. I think the setting around our main characters was cute. Her dressing style, the style of that “hounted” house or her home town (I didn’t remember it, I’m really not familiar with the book series). Hey, Bruce Willis!
That’s sadly all, not many good things, that I could talk about. The writting tho. Ugh! It was so, so bad. Mished with that acting was just terrible to watch. Just because I liked some charachters, does not mean, I think they well written well, or that they were acted well. They weren’t. None of them. Maybe Nancy and her father a little, but that’s all. The story... Just meh. After half an hour I wasn’t feeling any mistery. And talk about tension, there was none of it. Even the scene when they were just about to kill Nancy, I was felling nothing. Oh wait, I was annoyed. Because the side characters from her new school had appeared on my screen! I hated them. Especially Corcky. uhh... I just felt like a story written by a teenager, and I think not a teenager has written it (no, it were two adult people). I mean, do they know, they can make a movie for children (and this, BTW, felt like a movie for 3-6 years old), that’s also entertaining for adults? Look at Teen Titans GO: To the Movies! (2018). That’s a good example.

Well, despite how I disliked ths movie, I would definietly watch a sequel with Nessi. But it didn’t gross much, which I’m not suprised with.

 Day 5:
Got distracted, by discovering “The Pitch” from ScreenRant. Totally got me. Binge watched like 20 episodes.
Actual Day 5: Paradise Hills (2019)
What a weirdly boring movie. Maybe I didn’t pay to much attention as I should, but it didn’t get me at all.
I wanted to watch something new, to see how her acting “grow” with her, but... Again, she didn’t get much to play. Which is very dissapointing.
To start with the good things. The movie is extreamly beautiful. It looks so magical. The movie has just a 6 million budget, but it was still enough to hire Emma Roberts, Milla Jovovich, Awkwafina and to build a gorgeous set. The CGI was very visible, but only in two scenes (like the car on the beginning for example). And... That’s all? The acting of most main cast fine, I guess.
OMC, where to start even? Idea for the story: very, very unoriginal. It’s actually felt much like The Island (2005) and a little like Sucker Punch (2011) (although I don’t remember it very well), maybe a mix of bouth. It’s not bad, it’s just made not so well. The script: dull, slow and predictible. I don’t like saying this, because I mostly shut of my brain, try to have fun and don’t predict anything, but it was hard. The ending tho. Seriously, to predictable. And no, I didn’t predict, that Jovovich is playing a fucking rose witch/vampire. That actually suprised me. The characters: they we’re okay, but mostly still to stereotypical, like for eample Milla’s witch, Emma’s main and the sidecharacter singer. Again just complaining on the same things I complained the last three movies.

I still have one critycally acclaimed drama (to see her acting on a good script) and a good movie to end the marathon happy :3
Day 6: Palo Alto (2013)
I can’t say. I liked this movie. Not a lot, but it was still enjoyable for me.
I thought Emma will play the main character, which she has and hasn’t in a way. She was one of the main characters with Teddy i think. Yeah, okay, I’m almost sure. I know I was supposed to watch a critically aclaimed movie, and this isn’t one, but, eh, it has 69% on RottenTomatoes, so not so bad. Also! It’s stars James Franco. I liked the acting. I’m still dissapointed, that Emma stil does not have much to play. I’m not sure if she’s just okay at acting, or she takes parts of empty blonds. I still love her, it’s just... it’s getting harder and harder to watch her as not charismatic characters. Anyway, I liked the acting, even much. I’m not sure if the actor playing Teddy (Val Kilmer’s son! and Val KIlmer played April’s father xD) was playing him self, but I’m happy with what I got. The same goes for Fred, the coach and April’s father. Finally after these few dissapointing movies, I got something, that dind’t speak to me much, but at least I liked the characters and had fun watching them get better, or worse, or not changing, or having a quick cameo.
The story was... okay. But connected to this characters, I don’t really have much to complain. The tempo was a bit slow with April’s story, and a bit to fast with Teddy’s. Like The Art of Getting By (2011), this movie crossed a bit the thin line, of being too pretencional. But this doesn’t botter me that much.

Day 7: It’s kind of a funny story (2010)
I absolutely loved this movie! It took me from teh beginning with that scene on the bridge. Totally my kind of humor. The main character was easy to equate with, at least for me, like, being a bit assholish on the beginnig, and then turning in a fully good and  empathetic person. The perfect character arc for a feel good movie, like this one. It hit me by suprise, how good it was. The movie has average ratings and is rotten on RottenTomatoes. I know why, but the things, that for others were a flaw, for me was a good quality. I dind’t read the reviews, but I saw flaws in the movie, and in the story. I know, I know, it’s a basic story, a bit (maybe a lot) predictable even. But I turned my brain off for one and a half hour and had a lot of fun. The charachters where, no, seamed 3-dimensional. Everyone, at some point even. I totally believed, these are not actors, these are people. Especially the main trio, obviosly. I dind’t know  Zach Galifianakis can play something more then a stupid fat guy, by playing a not so stupid fat guy with problems. And Emma, still not what I’m expecting from her, but a lot better, then the other movies I guess (with exceptions of course). Even Craigs parents felt so real, and his friend and his love interest in the beginning. The main advantage of the movie is, that, as I pointed out earlier, it makes you feel better. It made me thing, that there is something more for me, that I don’t have to be this sad, fat guy, working and sitting by the computer all the time. Also the acting, OMC. It was great. How thought, to bring Viola Davis to this project? Great idea, even for these few minutes. But, yeah, I also pointed that out already. And, I liked, how the movie was directed. The scene, where they sang together, fabulous.
So what’s the flaws? It was predictable, if you just try to think a little. I dind’t realise that, till after the movie. Also, some characters, from being fine written, turned to flat characters, to drive the plot. Yes, I mean Nia, that was so unnecessary. It was just so Noelle would get mad at Craig. And will winning Noelle back be hard? It’s gonna be (quoting the screenwriter from Pitch Meeting) “super easy! Barely an inconvenience.” Which is dissapointing.

Bonus: A few words about Channel and whole Scream Qeens (2015-2016)
This series also took me by suprise, a bit. I loved Ariana Grande at that time, but since she quitted acting, and got mostly into music, I started to watch this show. And, as dissapointing as it was at that time, Chanel #2 was killed in the first episode. But since this was a slasher, and I do love those, I stayed. Who am I kidding. It dind’t stay because of the killing, but because of the story, characters and humor mostly. Jamie Lee Curtis is a wonderful actress and watching her going “against” bitchy Emma Roberts, was like watching a unicorn... I don’t a good compare, but you get it. It was extreamly entertaining. The world building, so caricature, it was so fun. Chanel killing a random lady? Yes please. These show was filled with mains driving the series with just themselfs and the sideones adding to it a lot. Even if they get killed eventually. Obviously the first season was way better, then the second. But the second was even more bizzare, which recompensed a bit the flaws of it. Do I like the decisions, who got the be the killers in both seasons? Yes, of course! For example, the chemistry between Dr. Cassidy and Chanel #3 was great in the second half of the second season. Just awesome.

Oh, yeah, a few more about Chanel. Wonderful, stole every scene she was in. Not a character, you could lift a show on, but the definietly good to be one of the mains.

So what do I think about Emma in the end?
She’s not a great, but a good actress, she could lift the whole movie, if she get’s a good character to play, like in Wild Child (2008), which was not much, but she was still a teenager then, and made it.
Do I see her in drama roles?
Yes, actually. I love her, when she plays bitchy, charismatic, or even psycho characters, because she’s great at it, but I still want to see her other side. A hard part to play, in which she can shock everyone in how good of an actress she is. She didn’t have the chance yet.
I hope she gets more lucky and popular at some time. She’s still under 30 (28 years old), so she has most of her live before her, and already an impressive filmography. I wish her all the best.
