#i really need the money to buy packaging materials

Re: the previous anon asking about ramshackle, my personal hc is that it used to be the staff's dorm (I could be completely wrong, I haven't read the early books in a while). Then, when Crowley took over from the previous headmaster, he didn't hire any new staff and instead let the non-teaching current staff retire/quit/otherwise leave their positions and then employed ghosts (since they don't really need a place to "live" (ba dum tss)), and left Ramshackle to fall into disrepair. Whether or not these ghosts were the old staff or were just looking for jobs is up in the air (and also opens a whole can of worms about ghost economics, but I'm not willing to get into that here) For some reason he still hires living teachers and Sam, but I'm not sure if we ever get any details on where they live during the school year.
[Referencing this post!]
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I went back into the prologue to check! The dialogue seems to suggest that Ramshackle used to house students. The Ramshackle Ghosts mention that people used to live there, then Crowley tells us "the ghosts scared away all the students." (Note that Crowley does not say “the ghosts scared away all the students AND staff.”) Thinking about it, staff lived at Ramshackle, well... it might be a little strange to have students visit them at their living quarters instead of in the classroom or their offices if they need academic assistance. Most likely Ramshackle served a similar function as the other dorms: student housing.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
As for where staff stay… There was one line dropped by Crowley in the second Halloween event which implies the (current) staff may live off campus. I talked about it in this post!
We’re not sure exactly how long Crowley has been headmaster for or when Ramshackle exactly fell into ruin 🤔 I wonder if the main story (or extra materials/content) will cover that… We don’t even know if there was even a previous headmaster or if Crowley was just always the headmaster. From how he speaks (ie being salty at the 99 lose streak to RSA and honoring Lilia’s invite to NRC despite being hundreds of years later), it feels like Crowley has been in charge for a long ass time. It could be that he’s honoring his predecessor’s legacy or wishes, but he seems to personally be making the shots or reacting in a way that’s quite emotionally invested for someone who is newly taking up the mantle.
Mmmm, I wonder if it’s really as simple as Crowley letting the current staff go…? I’d imagine most can’t afford to quit their job or retire on the spot (unless he incentivized them to leave with a generous severance package). I do think employing ghosts in the place of living people to do odd jobs may be more cost effective though, seeing as ghosts have far fewer living expenses than the living. (No need for housing, food, most material possessions, etc.). Crowley could thus justify paying them less/j Although… This is also most likely an efficient way for the devs to reuse assets and not have to design unique characters or more mobs to fulfill the roles of odd job NPCs.
There is lore which states that ghosts are attracted to areas that are concentrated with magical energy, which may explain why NRC has so many ghosts lurking around. I wonder if Crowley just happened to notice all the ghosts lurking on campus (rather than actively seeking them out) and wanted to give them something fulfilling to do with their time, hence the jobs. (Do ghosts even have a need for employment or money when they don’t really have physical demands??? What would they even buy with their earnings, if they’re being compensated at all?) Some ghosts, like the ones that work in the cafeteria, seem to be brought in from the outside to serve more specific roles (ie as Master Chef/Culinary Crucibles instructors and cafeteria staff). The Ramshackle Ghosts though… I’m not sure about their origins?
So the Ramshackle Ghosts have taken up residence in the dormitory, but we don’t have much in the way of their history. It could be that they were random ghosts that migrated to NRC due to its magical draw?? Other unrelated ghosts seem to have been drawn to Ramshackle in the past (such as Eliza and her ghostly entourage in Ghost Marriage). Some have theorized the Ramshackle Ghosts are dead students, but the closest thing we get to proof of that is a line from book 2. One of the Ramshackle Ghosts says that he was a star magift/spelldrive player when he was alive—but this does not inherently imply he was a student, since the sport is very popular and widely played by mages, student or not.
There’s still so many mysteries wrapped up in Ramshackle… 🔍

shitty phone pics BUT I got my keychains in from Vograce today! This was my first time ordering from them, it took me a while to take the plunge because I had heard mixed reviews on them, but I'm pleased to say that my first time buying from them went really well! This isn't really meant to be any sort of formal 'review' post or anything, just sharing my own experiences of how it went for other artists who might be interested in using their services or getting into making physical merch and need some tips :>
Tumblr media
The acrylic is SUPER solid and the keychains themselves feel very well made and reliable, so there should be very little chance of these things breaking on anyone ! They came with protective film on both sides (which took me a hot second to figure out if there even was any because it was so secured to the acrylic LMAO) and each one came packaged in a soft baggie which were then packaged in a ziplock and then put in a secure box, so they were very well protected during the trip :> The nice thing is that the soft baggies are compostable, but they can easily be reused as packaging when they're sold so I'm gonna make sure to bring them with me when I take them to my shows!
I think my only gripe is that the colors are a little more desaturated than what I was expecting, but this also isn't the first time I've ordered custom acrylic so at this point I know it's more so a consequence of the material, so I'll probably saturate the colors a bit more next time I place an order. It should also be noted that if you're an artist yourself who's interested in Vograce's products, their turnaround time can be a little on the slower side, so don't order these expecting them to turn up in a week, plan ahead!! (though I've been told by other artists who actually make money that if you put 'urgent' in the care instructions, that can actually help speed up the process? I have yet to try this though and I'd rather not do that if I'm not actually in a rush LOL)
All in all this was a very successful test run, I'll be selling these guys at my first convention (I have about 15 of them so not too many that I'll wind up overstocked in case they don'8t sell well and not too much money lost , it cost me about $40 after shipping) and then after that I'll be placing another bigger order for more! They also sell washi tape so I'm DYING to design something for that aaahhh <3

Could I request a Bruce x reader who can’t really give big, expensive presents bc we’re not all billionaires Bruce and has to like make his Christmas gifts? The insecurities are really fleshing out this holiday season lol
Bruce opened the lumpy package Alfred handed to him carefully and for a moment, all he could do was stare at the matching, knobby, blue green scarf and hat that had tumbled out into his lap.
"Well that is adorable," Alfred said, smiling to himself. "First attempt do you think."
"Or she was doing it on her commute," Bruce said, fingering the yarn- it wasn't angora. Or cashmere- nothing so fine. But- it wasn't all acrylic. And it felt warm. Wonderfully warm and soft. Cozy.
"I trust you'll-"
"Thank her properly?" Bruce chuckled, "Of course."
"And-"
"And wear it," he said. "It coordinates with my favorite coat."
Alfred nodded. Bruce had always had a soft spot for handmade gifts- perhaps, Alfred suspected; that it had to do with being able to buy any material item he wanted. He didn't NEED you to make him a scarf and hat. He had several. But you'd taken the time to make it anyway. You bought the supplies and expended the effort, especially for him.
And the time and the care was something money couldn't buy. He didn't doubt that Bruce would wear the scarf and hat- and not just when he saw you.

Make Your Own Cosmetics, Get What You Actually Want
Once you've been in zero waste, eco friendly, solarpunk/lunarpunk circles for a while, it's easy to forget the steps you took when you started. There are lots of DIY projects I've been doing for 10+ years now, and I keep doing them because they work (for me). Yet, when I sit back and think "am I doing enough?" I always gloss over the myriad things that have become part of my everyday life.
Making these things won't save the environment, but you'll get products that meet your needs on your terms, will save you money, and you won't have to worry about a company discontinuing your favorites. Plus, it seems like a lot less packaging to just buy a brick of beeswax and toss in some kitchen stuff you already had to make makeup.
Henna
I got really lucky, I always wanted red hair and henna is a natural dye that only comes in red. Well, more of a coppery tone. But, here's the other cool thing: the henna process is anti-fungal and controls dandruff. Half the time, I remember to color my hair because my scalp starts getting itchy 6+ weeks later and I start to get flakes. Coloring my hair takes care of my scalp and I don't need dandruff shampoo to keep it healthy. It's cost-effective, buying high quality henna for a year's worth of color (for my length and thicc hair) is about $60 for 18-months' of materials. I mix it when I need it, and keep the powder in the freezer. Pro-tip, if you or your partner don't like the grassy, hay-like smell of henna, add cardamom or ginger powder to the mix. It doesn't change the color but it'll knock down the scent.
I learned everything I needed to know about Henna for Hair here: http://hennaforhair.com and buy through Catherine's store because I know I'm getting real, quality henna powder.
Oh and a cloth wrap for your hair will let you keep the henna covered without wasting plastic wrap every time you redo your roots. I've been using the same 'turbie twist' wraps for years now. I made them from old t-shirts and they're stained as fuck. Who cares? This is basically their only job.
Carmine Lip Color
No, it isn't vegan. Yes, it's made of bugs. It's also a spectacular color, the insects aren't abused in the process of gathering or raising. They're actually parasites on nopal cactus, they have a simple niche and serve it well. I learned this lip stain recipe from Humblee & Me, and have found that the anti-bacterial doesn't seem to be necessary, ymmv. A 2.5 gram sample pack of carmine from TKB has lasted me almost a year and I wear this almost daily. I find that the glycerin really helps keep my lips from drying out too badly, so I wear my lip stain even when I'm not planning on being seen by other people. I spend about $20 on lip color for a year and that's including the bottles I use to store it (tiny eyedroppers work best imo) and the glycerin. Not quite zero waste but darn close.
Note: I'm still trying to find a simple recipe for black goth lipstick that I like. So far, my attempts have had a nasty texture and aren't worth the trouble.
Eyebrow Fill
My favorite brand of eyebrow liner discontinued the best color I ever found, so I decided to make my own. Beeswax, cocoa powder, activated charcoal, and almond oil made a little pot of eyebrow fill that suits my needs beautifully. Go super light on the charcoal until you know you've got the color you want. My brows are pretty dark but not fully black, so I do a dark chocolate sort of shade. I think I made my last batch about 11 months ago and it's still half full. I use it daily, apply with an angled brush, and it's never given me breakouts or anything. I don't even wash it off, because I am lazy.
Body Powder/Dry shampoo
Growing up in California, I didn't need this stuff. Living in Oregon? Summer would be awful without body powder. It's also a nice way to have a fragrance on. Pour your favorite perfume (I love Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab oils) onto a cotton ball, put that ball in a jar with a bunch of corn starch. Shake. Leave it for a month. You now have scented body powder. It's a decent dry shampoo, too, I just brush it into my dark hair and it disappears.
Tooth Powder
There is NOTHING wrong with using conventional toothpaste if it meets your needs. I have particular reasons for using tooth powder. These include hating the taste of most toothpaste and needing to avoid fluoride because of my particular thyroid condition. (Fluoride isn't bad for everyone! It isn't ideal for everyone. Figure out what you need!) I make my own tooth powder, it works well enough for me and I don't hate brushing my teeth like I used to. 1 part baking soda, 1 part bentonite clay, some ground cloves. Mix it up, keep in a glass jar (metal will bond with the clay, bad things happen, this is why we use glass or plastic for storage). $20 of materials = LOADS of tooth powder.
Cutting Hair
It's way easier than you think. I cut my own hair and I do a graduated bob which is a little more complex than most at-home cuts. I taught myself. I use decent shears (don't use scissors) and a Wahl hair trimmer set. Learn this skill on yourself, and when people find out you can do hair, they'll come to you for their own needs. Great way to provide mutual aid (one of my parents is trans and getting haircuts in a salon would be extremely stressful for her, so I cut her hair and save her money and suffering). You could also do skill trades! I trade haircuts for massages from a massage therapist friend, for example.
Protip: Dust yourself with body powder before cutting hair, it makes the little shards of cut hair way less prone to sticking to you. You'll still want a shower but it'll just be less icky.

What I Do With My Patreon Earnings
It occurs to me that I’ve never really done a breakdown of exactly how you guys are supporting me. So. Here are the things you’ve helped me do, and the things you’ll help me do in the future.
My publishing bank account consists of Patron contributions, profits from book sales, and a sum of money I had set aside over a few years to start publishing. In an average month, the highest contribution to the account comes from Patreon.
With this money:
1. I purchased a bulk set of 100 ISBNs. ISBNs are absolutely necessary for publishing, and much cheaper to buy in bulk. So far I have used 16. (Each edition and format of a book requires a new ISBN. So for The Shoemaker Prince, for example, I’ve used 4—1 for a 1st edition paperback, 1 for a 1st edition ebook, 1 for a 2nd edition paperback, and 1 for a second edition ebook.)
2. I set up my business, Wax Heart Press, an LLC, which involved some filing and processing fees.
3. I purchased the domain names and websites for both jennyprater.com and waxheartpress.com, and I continue to use the funds to pay renewal fees.
4. Previously, I used funds to pay the $50 fee to get each book set up with my printer. That fee no longer exists as of earlier this year, which makes each book a little easier on me financially, and frees up more money for other things.
5. Marketing, advertisements, and promotions. Getting the word out there so I can sell more books.
6. Shipping boxes/envelopes. I do charge a shipping fee for my books, which covers the cost of shipping + a little extra. But of course I had to buy all the packaging in bulk before I made those sales.
7. A printer. I actually bought this yesterday, on a Black Friday deal. I’ve been without a printer for quite a while now, and it’s been rough. I won’t be using it exclusively for writing/publishing related work—I’ll use it for anything I need printed, of course. But I’m going to get enough publishing-related work out of it that it seems worth dipping into my publishing funds. I’ll be printing things out for editing, for cover design work, for chapbooks, for shipping labels, and for merchandise and promotional materials. (I do not currently have plans to release any new chapbooks; I just need to be able to print more copies of the currently available three. And shipping labels only apply if I’m sending out anything that isn't a book; books get sent through media mail, and the label can only be generated at the post office by a postal worker.)
8. Starting this coming year, I’m hoping to make more Patron rewards available, as well as more general merchandise. Funds may be used to create these materials as well.
9. In future, as the business grows, I may use funds for things like hiring cover artists or editors, releasing hardcover editions, and hopefully, someday, publishing works by other authors/paying them, instead of being solely a self-publishing venture.
Join me on Patreon today!

Excerpt from this essay from Sierra Club:
I’ve spent years encouraging people to ditch single-use plastic. Probably the most egregious example of single-use plastic is bottled water: The bottles are made from fossil fuels, the water filling them is often taken from communities and ecosystems that need it, and the pollution created when they’re disposed of will outlast all of us.
So when I heard that people were getting excited about the Stanley cup—a durable, reusable alternative to bottled water—at first it seemed like a victory. Stanley drinkware has been around for decades, mostly marketed as a rugged brand for workmen and outdoorsmen. But recently the company repackaged its signature products in a rainbow of colors and began marketing to women, positioning itself as a lifestyle brand for people headed to the carpool line or yoga class. Stanley’s collaborations with influencers sparked a storm of social media buzz, with people rushing to snatch up the latest limited edition and amassing collections of the colorful tumblers. The excitement over the Stanley cup grew into a fad—and that fad has become costly for the planet.
Unfortunately, Stanley cups are far from the only eco-conscious product to get corrupted by consumerism. Earth Day is just around the corner, and my inbox is currently filling up with Earth Day promotions from nearly every company that’s gotten ahold of my email address.
A few months ago, I bought a new pair of organic cotton pants from a company that uses minimal packaging and donates to conservation. I loved the fit and felt good about my purchase. But now that it’s almost Earth Day, this eco-conscious company is trying to make me believe that the only way to help the planet is to buy another pair of pants. By commercializing Earth Day, we’ve missed the point.
It's like this every year. Earth Day has become another “Hallmark holiday” marked by special sales and promotions, just another excuse to get people to spend money on things they don’t really need. Somehow, it’s even become an opportunity to shower kids with gifts. An HGTV article published last year promotes “20 Buys to Help Kids Celebrate Earth Day Every Day.” The gift suggestions range from wooden toys and organic cotton tees to kid-sized gardening tools and animal-adorned dinnerware made from bamboo.
Now, there’s nothing inherently wrong with a junior gardening kit or bamboo dinnerware. In fact, many of the ideas on these lists are better-than-average products in terms of environmental impact. Anything that gets kids interacting with the environment is better than cheap, plastic indoor toys; if you’re in the market for durable plates your kids can’t break, looking for sustainable materials is a good call. The problem is that we’re being sold a myth that shopping is the solution to our environmental crises.
The first Earth Day was a call to action against rampant air and water pollution. Twenty million people took part in demonstrations across the United States, and the movement led to the formation of the Environmental Protection Agency and some of our country’s strongest environmental laws, including the Clean Air Act, the Clean Water Act, and the Endangered Species Act. There were rallies and teach-ins around the country. People talked about the connections between environmental health and poverty, population pressure and pesticides. There were gardening workshops and automobile burials. It was a political, radical, and joyous event. No one went home with a swag bag full of face creams in recyclable jars and bamboo plates for the kids.
Earth Day has been watered down from a revolutionary moment that recognized shared values and the common threat of environmental harm to a day that’s little more than a social media hashtag like National Siblings Day or National Ice Cream Day. No amount of sustainable Earth Day purchases can buy our way out of the climate crisis or protect endangered species from extinction.
When environmental action is defined by the types of products we buy, we’ve really lost the plot.

Don't Let the Packaging Get to You😭...
this is my follow-up on "2023 Is the Year to Become A Mindful Consumer"
We learn to buy things based on their packaging - the labels, the colors, graphics, etc. It gets both the logically minded and artistically minded alike. Looking beyond the packaging is not a matter of "not judging a book by its cover." It's important to outsmart the package's many ways of crying out "buy me!" Next thing you know, you've come home with a facial serum that breaks you out, a superfood powder that's 85% powdered rice grains, a drink you saw hyped up on TikTok, and a laundry detergent that claimed was "environmentally friendly" but the contents are just like the conventional brands. You might not even realize how many disappointing purchases you make like this. But if they fooled you, they've surely fooled others -- which fuels the company's marketing team to become more convincing & appealing.
First thing to address is your mentality when you enter a store or online shop. Realize that the point of the set-up is to get you to leave with as many products as possible, spending the most money possible, and leave with the thought of as many products as possible in your mind. If you struggle with sticking to just what you need, understand what is it about the store (its layout, employees, samples, etc) which cause you to be so easily convinced.
Next, understand what kind of customer you are. Place yourself in the shoes of a product marketer. What would you put on a package to sell it to yourself? How would you design that package? Who would you sponsor to convince you even further to buy that package? Look at the common denominators between the products you buy. Do you like going for the tried-and-true/popular brand, glam or sleek aesthetics, environmentally-friendly or ethical claims, more affordable option, latest trends, "doctor recommended" claims, or whatever else?
Also, understand what it means to make a purchase. Sure, everyone has heard that we vote with our dollars. But we don't always take full responsibility or power of our positions. Let's say that you like a product's contents except it's watered down with some waste product (like mineral oil), or you know that the company is deluding consumers with its claims & people are getting sick from it, or you learn that a shop aligns its aesthetics to look a lot like a small & mindful boutique but really it's just a normal sweatshop-run production. What can you do? The easiest thing you can do is not buy from that company (buy from a small business with great practices or make it yourself). You can leave reviews which share the truth. You can contact companies to see if they will consider different ingredients, materials, etc. You should talk about the company with others. You can even discreetly move products in a store so that their less noticeable to shoppers (as to decrease their sales. This isn't something petty, but to prevent funding dangerous or unethical items).
Finally, it's always good to have the habit of questioning, "Do I really need to buy this?" This is how mindless consumption really becomes mindful. It's better to find ways to make the product on your own. Normally, we look at the selection of products offered to us and consider, "What among this appeals to me?" Really, most of what we buy has either convinced us that we need it or it is the closest fit to a product which will serve our life. Creating an item which suits you exactly is better by far because it tends to eliminate more of the unnecessary evils and "unknowns" which come with our industrialized products.
Soon, you'll get in the habit of getting only what you need, being more resourceful & creative, seeing through the marketing tactics, learning about what goes into production processes, and finding fun in supporting true artistry & ingenious handmade creations. You'll begin to feel freer and less easily swayed. This is an important piece in taking control over what kind of lifestyle you live and the impact it has.

Hey I see you keep posting about AFK Arena and like! God those designs are SO pretty but I'm self aware enough to not want to put my addictive personality in a precarious spot so like. How bad is the in game spending? Cause I'm really tempted to download but don't want to kill my bank account and would love some input (if you haven't played the game and just like the people that's so valid lol ignore me)
So here's the thing, the game is essentially collect characters and have them arena fight, rinse and repeat with cute events between and very good character art and interesting stories.
The prices for stuff are so ridiculously high that I couldn't afford to gamble money like that in the game anyways. I play it passively like all these games which is why I don't end up spending much.
So it's a matter of patience and whether or not YOU have the patience to wait for the heroes you want (especially the awakened ones). Most things are pretty accessible in terms of events and being able to participate even if you're lower level and the costumes are only for aesthetics with no bonuses so there's no reason to spend money on them (again 15 USD for a cosmetic is so insane that unless it's available for an event where it's generally free to obtain, spending the money on it is outrageous and theres no reason to do it but once its unlocked its unlocked permanently even if you have duplicates of that hero).
Spending money on a monthly package is pointless because if you log in daily you eventually start obtaining diamonds anyways and if you get stuck and can't progress on a tower level or main level or whatever you can honestly drop it for a while and come back to a new event which can give you more goodies and eventually you will be able to upgrade gear and heroes etc.
Obtaining awakened heroes and also pets are the hardest, but again, once you reach a specific level (made easier now by the mentorship program) you start getting access to get iltheir draw materials in the shop for diamonds and since you accrue diamonds, gold, upgrade materials and gear passively daily anyways, eventually you get enough to buy one of the cards. You need 10 for better percentage draws, but like I said, if you're OK with waiting ages to obtain it and you play the game passively, it's a LOT easier to enjoy. The people playing competitively probably spend tons of money on it and there's no real punishment for not being at the top (Looking at King's Choice where its so pay to play and you're basically punished if you aren't trying to be the top player to force people to spend; now THAT game is evil but afk arena isn't that bad).
They don't do $5 payment things and when they do lower money options its entirely not worth paying. Right now theres a 4.99 thing in the shop for a fragment of awakened talene but you need 60 to get ONE of her so again its entirely stupid to pay it. The stuff they give you isn't worth spending it so if you know that going in it can help.
They have things that are like "reach these levels and pay 20$ to unlock 3000 diamonds for each of the levels passed. This refreshes and goes with you so once you get 9 levels passed (they are not consecutive its like for every 5 levels or something) which will take like a year, you could reward yourself with tha5 once it's passed and obtain 45000 diamonds. But it's only worth it for draws if you consider each draw is 2700 diamonds. So it might not be worth it for you!
Now, I've spent some money on the game but it's rare and it's always during a black Friday event sale (their "random popup sales" for beating levels are also not worth it and it's easy to see. 99.99 for 30 awakened cards is very obviously bullshit. A once a year purchase of $10 to acquire like 50 awakened cards to get the five ten draws is much more worth it but only happens once a year if that so it may not even be worth it when thw real discounts show up). Also spending 100$ to get one hero doesn't level the hero up so its also bullshit. Its designed for people with a LOT of money and so staying away from the shop could be beneficial.
I also play gardenscapes which is also notoriously horrible but I log in, play until the free stuff is gone, then fuck off it for another month or three so when I come back I get a ton of "thanks for coming back!!" Goodies and free stuff and the cycle repeats.
If you're worried I'd say don't do it but you could log in and take one look at how stupidly expensive the shit is and be like ah OK not worth it.

As I'm looking for packaging and such for soaps/wax melts for mailing and, I cannot stress this enough. DON'T BUY YOUR MAILERS/MAILING BOXES/PACKAGING FROM AMAZON. DON'T. They over charge you to hell and back. Bulk packaging specialists will sell you these in single units for under $1/£1/€1 a piece most likely, depending on what material you want your packaging to be. These places often let you buy any amount you need, the local one I am going to use lets you buy in lots of 1 to 1000, so that's really good. This way you save yourself and your customers a lot of money on packaging. And of course - Less money wasted on packaging = more profit. They also tend to be a LOT better quality wise than the quickly produced over priced ones amazon and its third parties sell, quality packaging is less likely to arrive damaged to your customer. Everyone wins! Anyways that's enough of that for now. Seeya. (~ ̄▽ ̄)~

I never stop wanting to do more and more kinds of crafts but I've been so limited by rough circumstances a long time but! One thing I'm adding to my To Experiment With list is resin crafting.. but I want to use plant based resin, which is very expensive, but I'm hoping to save the money once I get like.. my break from bills living at my grandparents for an temporary (but indeterminate) amount of time .. definitely something I've wanted to do for a long time, setting flowers, bugs, whatever into molds of sorts, but like I talked about re: my shop before, I want to do as much as I possibly can to be eco conscious..
I think the biggest obstacle is the acrylic charms tbh, like, I'm getting some samples made as we speak of wooden charms and pins, but I very much know those would be a harder sell :( and the acrylic charms are responsible for the most of my etsy income currently, BUT.. maybe in the future I can figure something else out with that, if nothing else though at least doing some of my stuff in wood is better than nothing. Also vinyl stickers but like... no idea what to do with that really like, yeah paper stickers exist but people really want stickers to be waterproof and I don't blame them x_x I can perhaps look into manufacturers who use post-consumer plastics at least, in the future, idk! one step at a time I guess ..
AT LEAST with the diy handmade stuff I have way more control over the materials I use so, the ecopoxy is simple it's just, spend my money on that. And buying compostable packaging, etc
oaagh just doing the best I can with everything! in theory if my other products start selling better than fandom acrylic charms (tm) I eventually wouldn't really need to produce them anymore so! u_u I'm probably fretting more about this kind of thing than most people care to consider /x\
anyway. public diary entry of the day . ecopoxy

Any tips for someone who wants to get into dice making? And doesn't have a huge budget?
UH, probably not the best in terms of advice considering I myself am still learning and dice making itself is very much a trial and error kind of hobby. ( And with that can come some sink costs )
But I’ve done much research over the last year and a half that I’ve been making dice so I can try and provide a little bit of insight into what I’ve learned, found helpful and maybe some places to start!
First things first, be very ready to fail and more than likely waste some money. It frankly just comes with the cost of trying to learn how to make dice, especially when collecting your supplies, buying equipment and packaging — and all the other stuff that comes with the growing pains of learning. A new art. Especially when you get your ratios wrong and waste and entire days worth of work on poorly mixed resin, silicone or just being plain bad at using a vacuum chamber.
Pro-tip: ALWAYS get your resin a warm water bath before you work with it, it helps the resin pour smoothly and gives you a bit more work time! 👍✨
Overall, we can start with some good videos and resources.
1. If you wanna start basic, I highly recommend DiceWitchery and her PVC dice mold tutorial ( as well as her entire channel ) as a start for mold making, as it doesn’t require much in the way of materials, it’s a very easy process and you can make multiple singular molds for dice if you want to make options like extra die types or multiples for a set.
2. Otherwise if you wanna go the more polished and advanced ( once you’re there and able ) look into a pressure pot. There’s a lot of options for pressure pots that are made and rigged for resin casting but this can get very costly, very fast — make this a long term goal, if it’s something you’re serious about when it comes to dice making otherwise, know that you don’t need to have one to make good dice. It is possible to pull good sets without them, but there will be more room for error with hand pours. It comes with the growing pains of learning your process and how to perfect it when you have the means to in the future! Start small, work big!
3. Look into resource groups, I’ve joined a few community discords and reddits that have offered a lot of helpful insight and advice for dice making — anything from where to start to how to fix voids, what pressure pots to use or most cost effective materials. It’s something requires a fair bit of research just to sort of give yourself some direction on what sort of dice you like or the types you want to make. Find people who can help with answering questions and giving insight, their trial and errors can be your strengths and successes as you learn too!
4. Find other dice makers —- truly, Instagram is probably the best spot ( aside from twitter ) that I’ve found to be a wealth of inspiration and very active dice making community. I’ve learned a lot from some people I’ve met through there who have been beyond helpful and provided tons of insight to their processes and motivations for their dice making! Learn techniques and processes that you want to implement, study style types and dice trends. Look at what is out there and see ways that you can build upon it! I’ve made a list of some good dice makers that I’ve the chance to talk to and pick the brain of and can really commend them as small businesses! ( This comes from a rag post on Kraken dice but namely, but I provide a list of very good reputable dice makers I’ve bought from, talked with and learned from that I would much rather support as someone who is newly learning and seeing the vastly amazing things people can do! )
5. Rybonator is an amazing resource and dice maker that provides a TON of the hard work in experimentations and variation when it comes to process and styles! His channel was super helpful for me starting out!
6. Arcanacast is an amazing company with dice masters that you can get pre-made in standard sets or have them customize your own. They have tons of materials for dice polishing, molds, and other items that have helped tremendously with my own dice making! They are a very wonderful and professional pair, and I can’t recommend them enough for getting custom masters if you’re wanting something more personalized to your own special brand!
Otherwise, peruse Etsy for sure! It’s a godsend for good master sets from standard to custom, molds and even things like alcohol inks, mica powders, dried flowers, glitters, foils ( all of these things you can obtain through amazon on a budget as well or really any craft store you can get your hands on — Michaels is a godsend, just go frolic through the resin craft aisles and that’s pretty much all you need to start )
This honestly is just a fraction of what I can really offer, since I’m frankly just as new to dice making and have been seeking out how to start aside from just buying everything in a giant heap and then experimenting. It truly is a craft that requires a lot of time, and willingness to fail; but I’ve had a ton of fun so far in what I’ve made and I’m hoping that I’ll be able to get better with some time! I wish you all the best in your dice making journey and that any of this was remotely helpful enough to get started! Good luck and happy dice making! ✨

Homeless Man Needed A Helping Hand #homeless #shortsvideo #kindness
This is a standard package to hand out and our son made a tent that self-recting and the toy that you have and you go in and it doesn't move cuz you're in it and it could blow around and still waterproof it's better than most material it doesn't cost much and you open it up out of the container and it opens up to the tent. He wants to hire sales people like John remillard to go to homeless shelters and he said oh that's not good and they'll probably buy it at least you can tell his people the message and make them sick and a lot of people learn there it's like a mental hospital so he wants to do it and it says if you guys make one make sure it's not the leaking one it's the material that doesn't leak if you touch it and he knows about it suck that loop thing it's twist and also can pull and so he knows about it too no but they can design it
It sort of gets it it's all built and everything and you just open it up it doesn't last as long but it's really nice and easy and people like it and it breaks down real fast if you have to move and they hand out backpacks real ones like our son had and you can strap on the sleeping bag inside of waterproof bag and have one of those blow up things that work real well for your mattress they're like 2 in thick they work pretty good and the gear is not that much money and people are handing out these packages so we're going to try and find people to hang them out and we're going to find shelters to accept them and charities like churches he says do a lot of that they do probably most of it and it's true too so we're going to go ahead and do that and some people put food cards in it's a good idea and a wallet
Thor Freya
We're going to go ahead and do this right now we're opening shelters everywhere and we're starting this and sometimes it's an overflow and these tents would come in handy and you have them use them and keep them and they charge them and you see them using them in campgrounds it's awesome these things are really cool too and it's simple to use and if for two people
Olympus
I can't believe it I'm in love again I was just trying to help people and these guys are starting to see with it situation is
