Some ultrakill headcanons

Gabriel has a lichtenberg scar from a fight with a fellow angel or heavenly entity that he was not on good terms with. - - Also generally a lot of scars. A fuckton. Metric ton, even. Eleven donuts worth, if we're going American.

Mad levels of anxiety. He struggles with GAD + panic attacks on a regular basis but has been able to maintain it after a while especially with the help of his husbands / start of living with them and working out the past issues.

I really like the idea of Gabriel being deeply into gardening, knowing the meanings of SO many flowers and sketching various things, don't get me wrong (+ he DEF has impostor syndrome) but. But hear me out.

TEA ENTHUSIAST! (I love tea, so I'm def projecting some.) And I love the idea that he just has a stash of tea + books he has found lying around about herbalism, medicinal properties of herbs, etc. Definitely has a mortar and pestle, makes his own spice mixes, has various tea strainers (maybe he'd find or make some cute ones, IDK) and so on

I go back and forth on his appearance, if it is even visible at all, so on. I like the idea that he is half oriented around the whole "biblically accurate angel'' portrayals but also has the head of an animal, specifically slightly lamb-leaning. I have more reasoning that it just being for religious symbolism, but I also won't deny that plays a part in it.

I also based his appearance somewhat off of the black and white art of the gate guardian from the SCP universe / Dr. Clef's Proposal for SCP-001 <3

It can't fully control it but even in the few moments where it has more power over its body it just typically chooses not to. It does get hurt though when people immediately get startled by its appearance but it "got used to it after a while"

Reading your newspaper club and OM characters HCs had me literally rattling the bars of my cage like some hyperactive child on the playground, this gave me so much happiness. ngl my fav is probs the thing where belphie is 5d chess overthinking himself into a hole meanwhile Astaroth is like "thats him, my boyf, I love him" and alll the stuff with mephisto with levi and ESPECIALLY Solomon is just *clutches heart* so much ( have so much feelings, can't contain in my tiny body). Also love the alecto and ralph one, espcially the spear (I love the dynamic of like? energetic but also Panik, and soft and secretly pleased) oh and Mephisto and Lucifer? would be such a group when with IK who would like get lucifer to lighten up a bit and the he can fully enjoy Mephisto.

Honestly I love love love your fic so much, its in my like? life changing list of fics that I read and then my brain chemistry changed for the better. while reading (and rereading it) I started to get back into slowly delving back into my disorganized writing my own OM story thats been sitting in my docs for the last year (its a mess of like? vignettes and bullet points, not even coherent conversations most of the time)

Calling someone your son or grandson or calling yourself the other person's father is like. a super common way of cursing, so the context clues you have to put together- knowing the sentence from Zhu Ziqing's work and that it was a sentence said from father to son, idk i find these creative insults fun fhdjs. I read this back in april! So if i had reread Talent Show before that i wouldnt have known this at alll

I think the reason why it’s more visible on Jungkook’s side for now is because Jungkook is making a very conscious effort to go against his knee-jerk reaction of distrusting OC. His walls ARE breaking down because he’s realized that under everything else, she cares about him. OC’s going much slower because this is just so completely new to her. Trust?? In this industry?? But she’ll come around eventually. You’re completely right though, Jungkook is the one who’s taking the first steps here!

Ahah that’s funny, I come from a fandom where one of the characters only calls his love interest by her name when he starts getting closer to her, so that’s a device I’ve grown very fond of and I’m shamelessly reusing that in here. So there is a brief passage that talks about Jungkook’s perspective in the Interlude:

“Worried about your safety, Jung— Mr. Jeon.” You sound almost annoyed, and normally he’d mark that as a small victory, but he doesn’t miss your slip up. He can’t. It makes him tense, and he has to wonder if it’s because you think less of him tonight. He’s sure — he’s convinced — that you would never, not in a million years, have made that mistake with Mr. X.

But the truth is, Jungkook’s conflicted about it. In the beginning, he suspects it's disrespectful because OC called him Jungkook when she was his handler and he thinks it means she still sees him like that. As time goes on though, he starts to think that the real 'OC' is not the cold, calculating appearance and that when she calls him by his name it’s when she lets the genuine 'OC' surface and shows that she cares. In the chapter before this one, he kinda realizes how hard it is for her to do that and how much she has to fight herself to let it happen. In this chapter, that’s why he changes his mind when she says his name, he realizes it must mean something’s gone very wrong.

My lips are sealed about Anna but like, from a story perspective it would really disappointing if I dropped that plot thread, right? Surely I wouldn’t leave everyone hanging like that right? 👀

Ahh, a writing advice ask, it’s my time to shine lmao. You should have put in what you had so far so I can get a feel for your writing. If you feel comfortable, message me privately so we can talk (please do because I’m all excited now lol). Don’t discourage yourself or feel bad about your writing, most of what I write is hot ass sewage anyways.

The way you describe things and how your character talks depends heavily on if you’re writing in 1st, 2nd, or 3rd person. All of my imagines are written in a mix of 2nd and 3rd person because I want to avoid falling into the Y/N style of writing, but if that works for you, that’s fine!

With character dialogue

• Try to avoid writing like you would text. EX:

“She looked a hot ass mess, lmao 🤣.” She said.

Nobody says lmao when they’re actually talking, nor do people use emojis when they talk. I know it may seem bland to write without them but steer clear of that, it doesn’t read well.

• Try to build a personality around your character.

I’m not too sure if you’re writing imagines or full stories, but either way try to give your character some kind of personality that would set them apart. This doesn’t mean that they have to have some kind of elaborate back story, but if you can think of little quirks for them it helps. When I wrote “You got me fucked up.” I kept in mind that Melo’s entire personality in that imagine was him being fucking crazy over his ex, so I made sure not to stray too far away from that. Sometimes people tend to make their characters seem like they have multiple personalities on accident.

If you’re writing about a person that already exists, you might not need to do this depending on what you’re writing about. With my imagines, I try to imagine how I’d think Melo would actually act but sometimes I deviate from that because he acts like an actual toddler most times. No shade to LaFrance lmao.

• Don’t fall into the ‘said’ trap

Try to have variety when you write the way your characters say things. You don’t always have to say ‘he said’ or ‘she said’, try to find other substitutes based off the emotion you’re trying to give off. Like blurted, announced, murmured.

There’s a big difference between,

“Because I don’t want you talking to him!” Melo said loudly, looking at you mad.

And,

“Because, I don’t want you talking to him!” Melo snapped, his face contorting in rage as he glared down at you.

• Describe their expression.

Like the example above, try to describe the characters expression. You don’t have to do this every time, but adding it in when needed (I feel) elevates your writing,

With describing things

• Describing Things: People.

My biggest thing with this is to make sure you reread. Sometimes something will be playing out perfectly in your head and then you go over it and realize it makes no sense (I do this alll the time).

When describing people try not to go all 2013-17 Wattpad.

“Hi my name is Marie and I’m 5’2 and I’m lightskin and I have short curly hair all the way down to my back and I’m thick as fuck!”

No. Just no. I’m not saying don’t have short, thick, light skin characters but don’t describe them like that. Instead build up to their character description rather than having them spit out a long, run on sentence about what they look like. I like to describe characters while they’re doing something, like getting ready for the day or going to work, etc.

Here are some first person examples:

“I ran the lotion over my skin, loving how it brought out the natural glow of my dark skin.”

“After popping in my last contact lens, blinking a couple times to get use to the feeling, I looked at myself in the mirror. My full, heart shaped lips were coated in my favorite gloss and my almond shaped eyes were accentuated with the few layers of mascara I put on that morning.”

“I stood up from the chair, smoothing the wrinkles out of my dress as I fully came to my feet. I was wearing one of my favorite black, bodycon dresses today. It hugged my curves perfectly, accentuating my thick thighs and hips without making me look like a slut. Just the right amount of sassy and classy.”

Now, these aren’t perfect because I made them up on the fly but you can see the difference.

• Describing Things: Places

If you’re writing about an actual place, like if the characters are walking through uptown Charlotte, find pictures of place and use them to help you describe where they are.

Because I’m a crazy person who loves detail, when I’m describing a place like a restaurant, I’ll go on google and look at actual restaurants that match what I’m thinking of in my head and use that.

Try not to make every place sound like the same place if that makes sense. Not every restaurant has white table clothes, or chandeliers, or waiters who dress in crisp, black suits.

Additional tips!

If you want more describing words for things, consult google! Searching up synonyms for certain words has been my saving grace.

But, also bear in mind that you don’t have to use a bunch of big words to make your writing good. There are plenty of books written in good ole’ plain English. You don’t need to sound like Shakespeare to be that bitch in these streets.

If you want inspo, look at other peoples writing. That helps you get a feel for how you can write and how it will come off to reader, just don’t copy.

Proof read. Proof read. PROOF. READ! You may find some spelling mistakes or think of a better way to describe something.
