It started as soon as Cas joined them at the diner and slipped into the booth next to Dean liked he usually did.

“Thanks for coming, Cas. We really need your help with this one,” Sam said.

“I’m here. Tell me everything.”

Sam was shuffling through his papers, about to bring him up to speed on the case, when he heard Dean snap, “Can’t you sit on the other side?”, with such vitriol that Sam looked up at him, shocked. His brother’s face was twisted with hostility, “It’s a little tight in here.”

Cas rolled his eyes in an exaggerated manner but got up anyway to move next to Sam.

“So,” Sam started, frowning at his brother, back to sipping his coffee like nothing happened. He turned his focus on Cas, “just in this past week, twelve couples from this town filed for divorce.”

Dean scoffed, “Yeah, I’m still not sure this is a case. It’s Christmas, everyone fights during the holidays.”

“Yeah, but the point is – once they started, they simply couldn’t stop. The neighbours say -”

“So we’re playing marriage counselors now, what a way to hit the botto-“

“Could you be quiet?” interrupted Cas sharp, throwing Dean a glare. “I’m trying to listen to Sam.”

“What’s there to listen? I told you, there’s nothing for us here.”

“How can you be so sure -”

They were raising their voices and people from nearby tables started to crane their neck towards them.

“Guys,” Sam hissed, “I don’t know what’s happening here but can we -,” he tried to say, but it was like he wasn’t there anymore. Dean and Cas were throwing daggers at each other and as Sam’s gaze moved between the two of them, he started to suspect that something not normal was going on there. So maybe the marriage requirement for the curse wasn’t as literal as they thought.

He started sweating, “Uh, can we go back to the case now?”

“I don’t know,” said Cas, his voice dripping sarcasm, “maybe Dean has something more interesting to do.”

“Look, you’ve been here five minutes and-”

Sam sighed heavily. “Alright. Guys- guys, w-why don’t you take this outside? I’ll pay the check and be right out.”

Scoffing and grumbling, then slipped out of their seats and stormed out of the diner.

Sam sighed and raked his hands through his hair.

He tried to tell himself that it could be a coincidence, but his confidence whitered considerably as he watched through the windows his brother stomping through the parking lot and Cas following him with his arms crossed on his chest.

He took out his phone and called Rowena.

“What is it now, Samuel?” she answered.

“Hey Rowena. I- I need your help.”

Not even halfway through the story she interrupted him with a chuckle, “Oh, don’t worry Samuel. I know exactly what you’re dealing with.”

“You do?”

“But of course. And I know who’s doing it. It’s a witch, goes by the name of Emlen. They like to cause mayhem during the holiday season. Harmless curses, wear off right after Christmas. It happens every few years.”

“How are they doing this?”

She thinks about it for a moment, “At the victims’ houses. Did you happen to notice a poinsettia?”

“Th-the plant?”

“Yes, a poinsettia Sam, the Star of Bethlehem, the Fire Flowers of the Holy Night.”

“Yeah, got it. I don’t think so, I mean, everyone’s got one these days. So, maybe?”

“Well, the last time that’s what was setting off the curse. It’s very clever actually,” she went on, “They have them delivered to their door, and the plants let out these fumes -”

As she talked, and the wheels turned furiously in Sam’s head, his eyes fell on the centerpiece in the middle of the table. In a little jar, among glitter red berries and snow covered pine-cones, set a fresh plant with red and green leaves.

Sam shook his head, defeated. There was no doubt now.

Dean and Cas were in trouble.

He sighed, and snatched the plant to stuff it in his bag. He threw a couple of bills on the table and hurried to the exit still with his phone attached to his ear.

“So I need to look for a florist?”

Rowena sighed, exasperated. “No, Samuel. They are way smarter than that. I bet they enchanted a florist to do the work for them. You’ll need to go and gather all the plants and in the meantime – I imagine I could prepare an antidote of sorts to stop the effects right away. You’ll have to give it to the victims.”

“What about the witch?” he asked as he pushed open the glass doors and stepped out in the cold parking lot.

“I’ll take care of Em. We’re old friends, I’m sure they’ll be reasonable if I asked it as a favor.”

Sam let out a sigh of relief but his worry spiked again as the Impala came into his view. Even from there he could see Dean and Cas talking fast at the same time, clearly arguing.

Rowena said, “Did you say twelve couples, right? It’s twenty four vials.”

“Uh – actually. Can we make it twenty six?”

“Sure, Sam,” she said, sarcastic, “and I bet you want the express shipping as well? You know I only have two hands and can’t possibly…”

“Just – Please,” cut her off Sam, trying to express the frustration he was feeling. And he was feeling a lot of frustration as he was approaching the car and could hear indistinct shouting from the inside, “I’ve got a bit of a situation here. Um, Dean and Cas are kind of at each other’s throat.”

Rowena chuckled, but didn’t sound surprised at all as she said, “Of course they are. Fit the profile, don’t they? Alright Samuel, I’ll be there soon. Just try and hold tight, my poor boy.”

“Yeah, thanks Rowena.”

The ride to the motel was frosty at best. Sam stayed absolutely still in the backseat and did not comment on the Dean’s jerky driving or the fact that Cas stared grumply out of the window the whole time.

He had tried a weak, “Are you guys still fighting?” when he’d slipped in and they both had given him a stern “No,” that obviously meant the opposite.

Back at the motel the situation did nothing but worsen. They sat on opposite sides of the room and resolutely did not look at each other.

Well, at least until Sam broke the silence to say, “Rowena is on her way. This will be over in no time,” and his brother commented under his breath, “Yeah, Rowena is always there when you need her. Must be nice.”

And Cas whipped his head around, “If you’re referring to me, I’ll have you know that I came as soon as you called.”

Dean snorted, “You mean, as soon as you decided to pick up your phone.”

Sam let out a whimper.

“As I already told you -” thundered Cas but Dean cut him off, raising his voice, “I don’t wanna hear it, Cas. You say the same thing everytime and they you disappear again for two weeks!”

“Uh, guys? Why don’t we -” Sam tried to interrupt them by blocking their view of each other but they just stood up and walked around him.

“You know what’s funny?” Cas went on, sarcastic, talking over him, “That you’re always saying that I should be around more, but when I am around, you sure go out of your way to make me feel unwelcome.”

“Fine!” exploded Dean, “If that’s how you feel than I’ll just stop asking you…”

“… as if you ever asked. You just assume…”

“… then I won’t have to…”

Sam resisted the urge to press a pillow on his face and just closed himself in the bathroom.

When he finally heard knocking, Sam ran to the door and pulled Rowena in uncerimoniously.

“Oof, Sam, this is no way to greet a lady,” she complained but then her attention was caught by Dean and Cas behind his back, shouting in the middle of the room a few feet from each other. Her jaw dropped.

“... wish you’d just stop covering your feeling with humor...” Cas was saying.

“... well, I wish you’d stop snooping in my head every chance you get...”

“... If you think one needs to have celestial powers to see what’s clearly on your face Dean Winchester...”

Rowena met Sam’s desperate gaze and winced.

She patted his arm, reassuring, “I’m here now.”

“I’m not drinking that.”

“This is ridiculous. Dean and I are not married.”

“I know – just – please. You’re driving me nuts,” said Sam, pratically shoving the vials in their faces. Rowena had proposed to magically bind them and Sam was starting to consider it.

Thankfully - without even stopping glaring at each other - they took them from his hands and downed them in one go.

There was a moment of stillness and then Sam saw them sprinting towards one another. He gasped and tried to step in, thinking that they were about to throw punches but instead they ended up – smashing their mouths together.

Which was definitely more jarring for Sam. He stood frozen in shock and then made his way to Rowena, who was calmly putting on her coat, her back to the scene.

“Er, Rowena?” he called, alarmed. “Uh, they’re – is this normal?”

She threw a look over her shoulder at Cas wrapping Dean in his arms and Dean yanking Cas’ hair.

“Oh, it’s just a little after effect,” she said lightly. She met Sam’s worried eyes and explained, “The antitode has some ingredients in common with love potions. A little nudge, just enough to reverse hostility. It brings out desire. It’s nothing, Sam,” she shrugged, “and it’ll wear off in a couple of minutes, so I say we get out of here now and go deal with Emlen and the other couples. You know,” she smirked, “in case they decide what’s good for them and decide to stay.” She shouldered her bag, “Chop chop now, Samuel,” she said cheerfully, shoving him slightly. “We got work to do.”

Two minutes later, Dean and Cas pulled away from each other in the empty motel room.

They looked wide eyed, their faces red, their lips swollen. Dean’s voice was on the verge of hysteria and disbelief when he said, "We kissed.”

He was still holding the lapels of Cas’ trenchcoat and Cas still had his arms tight around his waist.

Cas blinked at him, “Yes,” he said, “I think we were cursed.”

Dean nodded briefly and tried to think fast. “Sam must be working the case,”. He thought about calling him, making sure he was alright and didn’t need assistance but his eyes couldn’t stop flicking between Cas’ eyes and lips, “Seems like whatever he’s doing is working. Uh - Sorry about -”

“I’m sorry too,” Cas said, still a little out of breath, “Can we keep kissing now?”

Dean exhaled, “Yeah, good idea,” he said, throwing his arms around his neck.

The special fact about you was, being an Indian was something common about when you live in a western country.

Mostly migrate to other places for finding a job, same as you. Never believed once in your life, you're going to get a job of an assistant. For a billionaire genius, and a superhero.

Everyone in your family was so happy about it, at least they have expectations that their daughter will finally make her name and earn. Maybe find someone special that you find to be perfect in your life?

Your mom and dad always worked hard for you for a better future and lifestyle. They never been so happier when they found out you were being appointed for a job in America. They felt so successful and proud for making their daughter educated enough to send her further.

Your flight was tomorrow, but the nervousness just kicks inside that how would your interview go. It was actually Tony Stark, the genius, billionaire, playboy and philanthropist. You can't even mess up with him. But, there was one thing which bugged you about, a tingly feeling.

You remember him since the day when the world was saved from the Chitauri invasion, and everyone was celebrating about the victory of heroes. It filled throughout the Indian media, about the new superheroes, named as the Avengers, who fight the inside and outside evils. The moment Iron Man showed on the screen, you were left surprised. You kept staring at the hero saving others and making sure if they're secure.

Mostly! When he opened his mask, and revealed his face, everyone held such shocked faces, like they never knew Iron Man was basically a human inside controlling the suit.

"Lo, hum joh isse robot samaj rahe the, yeh toh insaan nikala!" Your grandmother exclaimed. (Wow, we thought he was robot, but he turned out to be a human?)

But, you kept looking at his face. The way he spoke, the way he actions, and everything. You were lost into the man, that suddenly you revealed your smile, your sister noticing it.

You hugged your dad, weeping because he wasn't ready to accept the fact you were now leaving him for a long time. After breaking the hug, you wiped his tears, giving him confidence.

Stepping in the taxi, you bid them goodbye, waving your hand and leaving for the airport.

Your new life now began, the moment you entered America. Landing, you then stayed in the hotel for the night, tired and exhausted. But, along that you wanted to remember your lines, so you quickly revise and go to sleep. In the morning, you hurriedly reach Stark Tower for the interview, since the time was running a bit fast.

Entering in the huge interior, looking at a lot of people working in. It did made your nervousness kick in again, but behaved like a strong woman, just wanting to complete the interview as a badass.

You reached the receptionist. "Excuse me, can you tell me where will Mr. Stark take the interview?"

"Thank you." You smiled, reaching the elevator and waiting for the floor to arrive. Checking your watch, you were two minutes late, but hoping they'll just manage. Entering the room, feeling the slight cold air hitting your skin. It seemed empty, but hoped he was waiting for a while.

"Come in, Miss (L/N)." A deep, masculine voice filled through the room, knowing someone was actually in. Stepping inside, and closing the door, you seat yourself, trying to hide away your nervousness. It seemed you were slowly forgetting your lines but, being a strong woman is your passion right? Who even can—

The moment the chair turned around towards your direction, you lost it. It looks like you totally forgot the lines now.

Because Tony Stark just faced in front of you.

Did you just, blush? No, it might be embarassment. But, he too stared at you for a while. It was like an awkward staring contest, but remembering you were here for an interview, you brought yourself back.

"Good morning, Mr. Stark. Sorry for being so late." You wipe off the flick of hair on your face.

"It's okay. At least you were on time." He replied, giving a smile. Damn, it was cute.

"So, Miss (L/N). You're from, India right?" He asked, looking at your documents.

"Y-yes! I'm from India, also fully graduated from college."

"What really made you accept this assistant job?" He started asking questions.

"I just don't want to work for money, but I want to find what better I can do while I'm by myself."

"That's everyone's expectations. We should really try something new, and it's a fact of finding your true self."

"Right." You nodded.

"Alright, I have appointed you, congrats." He closed the document and gave a grin.

You widen your eyes. "What? I-I thought you were going to ask more questions..?"

"I don't ask many of them, I know you're capable for everything so, no need." He shrugged.

"W-wow.. I mean, it's way different back there.. haha. What a prick I am." You chuckled.

"You shouldn't actually be uncomfortable or nervous around me, okay? I'll always be available for your problems." He stood up from his chair, and you also too. Offering his hand for a handshake, and you happily accept it.

"Congratulations for the job, Miss (L/N)."

"Aapka bahut, bahut dhanyawad." You accidentally speak in your language, making you cover your mouth in surprise. (Thank you very much.)

He raised his eyebrow in confusion, not sure what you really meant. "Excuse me?" He tilts his head, smirking.

"I-I meant, thank you for accepting me as your assistant, Mr. Stark.. I'm sorry about that." You replied, trying not to fluster from embarassment. But, it didn't seem to make him feel weird, he was like.. more interested?

"No no, it's fine. Accidents happen, but your language is just beautiful. Just tell me whenever you're about to speak Hindi, JARVIS, my AI will help me translate it." He chuckled, and you laugh back.

"Mr. Stark you're so funny." You shook your head and continued to laugh. He sees you smile, which somehow warmed his heart. You might not notice it, but something was being created in between.

And time actually told that, when you both worked together for a long time.

Years while working with Stark, you really enjoyed the job. He was a sweet, generous person who will look after you, hoping nothing worse happens. It kind of made you both like good friends, later on. Everytime you looked at him, some strange feelings always attacked you. You can't even guess what it means, but maybe because you really appreciate him.

"Oh really? You're into romantic songs, it seems." He raised his eyebrow and smirked, finding a seat.

"Yeah but, uhm.. because they show a lot meaning, even after I'm just a single-pringle, haha. Weird isn't it?"

He stared at you for sometime, it wasn't serious, but gentle. "It's not."

You blushed, don't know why but the tone of his voice dragged into it. Both kept staring at each, and had no idea about the surroundings.

You were the one to break through, coming back to reality. "Oh! S-sorry I just got lost.. a while back."

He got up from his chair, and went closer to your direction. Looking at each other's eyes, he found yours the most beautiful. Felt like he can swim in it. Caressing your cheek and rubbing it with his thumb, you started to panic inside, not able to notice what's happening now.

"Yeah, I told a very while back, that I will once ask you to teach me Hindi. I'm very interested, can you please?" He flashed a grin. Like, there was no problem for you to teach him your language. It's good to make others know about your culture.

You gave him a nod as a reply, and he became excited. "Thank you, I'll gladly be your student, Miss Y/N."

For weeks, Tony had been taking Hindi classes from you. I swear, it could have been tough for him, but he was just so interested to learn the language. All you know he was just keen so you were teaching him all that. Giving him assignments and worksheets with grammar, you helped him through everything.

"Maine khana khaya.." You said the words, and waited for him to recite back. (I ate my food.)

"Maine khana.. khaya? Did I say it right?" He replied, in a weird way because his American accent was also mixing in between.

"No no, you're going correctly! Now say it again."

The moment which left you blank again. He still fixed his soft eyes with yours, clearing your throat to break the tension.

"Okay so, do you have any doubts so far?

"Well, uh. I have a doubt, many of them." He rubbed his nose.

"Ask me."

He first rubs his hands nervously, then looks back at you. "How do you say.. love in Hindi?"

"Oh, well.. pyaar." You replied, being straightforward.

"Okay.. now how do we say, you're beautiful in it?"

You felt a tingly feel in your stomach, but still continued. "Tum khoobsurat ho."

He chuckles. "Alright. Now, if I ask my final doubt.. how do I say.. I love you?"

You gasped. Did he really mean it? Clenching your pen, you became nervous.

"Tell me, my love. I want to know about it."

Tony grabbed your waist from one arm and your hand from the other, swifting to the movements as if they're dancing.

He started singing the song, when the verse began.

"Yes, my love. Just for you. I have to tell this but.. I fell in love the moment I saw you for the first time. Your smile, laugh, voice, behavior, eyes.. and your.."

He sighed, and then leaned to close the gap between your lips. The kiss was sweet yet passionate, like he waited for this moment.

He pulled off for air, both of your gazes neutrally looking. "I'm surprised that I fell in love with an Indian, like you. But, you're pretty, no matter what nationality you belong to. You changed my life Y/N. Trust me, the way you took care of, pampered, and worried for me.. I can never forget that. I really love you for that, my love. And I want to spend the rest of my life with you.. d-do you accept me as your boyfriend?"

You started to sob, clenching his shirt tight. Maybe she wasn't happy about it. "L-look, if you don't accept, it's okay.. you deserve. Alot better than—"

"Yes, yes and a million times yes!" You said excitedly, and he sighs in relief. "Did you like.. learn the entire song?"

"Yeah, I even did take help from JARVIS for the translation, also from your teachings, never forgetting that." He winked.

"Oh god.." You laughed.

"But come on, you didn't like it? Tell me!"

"I did, Tony. And I want to thank you for it, a lot."

He gently wipes off your tears, and kisses your forehead. "Now, do you want to celebrate for our engagement?"

"Like where, Mr. Stark?" You said, flirtatiously.

He darkens his eyes, and picks you in the bridal style. "Right in our shared bedroom, sweetheart." He takes you in the room while giggling, shutting the door from inside.

“ Take my hands now~” gently humming your favorite song on your way to your next class, you were firmly grabbed by a soft hand when a husky male voice harmonized with you singing the song. “You're the cause of my euphoria~” Immediately recognizing Yeonjun, not even batting an eye your tiny figure engulfed him in a hug. Your enjoyable moment was abruptly stopped by the school bell and before even managing to turn around properly, the taller male had already turned you around again and pulled you closer. A blushing mess was an understatement of your current state. He gently placed his soft hands on your cheeks and pulled your face closer to his & you just couldn’t help but stare at his beautiful brown orbs which held the entire galaxy in them. “Meet me after school in the school yard? I have a surprise for you.” Booping your nose, he giggled and jogged to his next class.

Impatiently waiting in the school yard, your thoughts were all over the place. Yeonjun was usually bad at hiding surprises, so how come you haven’t caught him yet? “He must’ve prepared it really well..” rolling eyes at your own inner voice, the tall, blue haired boy you had been waiting for finally came.

“I missed you.“

“We literally saw each other 3 hours ago.”

“3 hours is a lot.“

Giggling at his statement, you had started the important conversation.

“So, what is this surprise you’ve told me about?” grinning widely & stepping closer to him, you reluctantly asked.

“I want you to close your eyes and hold my hand. No peeking please. Do you trust me?”

“Yes I do. I am impatient so can you PLEASE show it to me already? you exclaimed that while jumping like an excited child.

Smirking, he took your petite hands into his and started leading the way. Excitement was present but he was scared of your reaction. Why was he scared? Perhaps, because he had feelings for you and he was going to confess. “What if scare her away or what if I ruin what we have now? I don’t wanna ruin a friendship for the sake of my own feelings.. but it’s worth giving it a shot.” Those were only some of the thoughts floating through his mind.

“ When are we-" he stopped you from asking the question by putting his hand over your mouth. “Just wait and you will see. I promise you won’t be disappointed.”

After walking for some more time, you’ve arrived at the destination. Your eyes were still closed and your heart felt as if it was about to jump put of your chest. As Yeonjun had stopped abruptly you bumped into him and let out a little gasp.

“We’re here. Open your eyes"

This is something you never expected from a boy like Yeonjun. A boy who's always late and very messy but nonetheless lovable and charming. The sight which met your shiny eyes had left you speechless. A small garden, filled with all sorts of flower patches, a picnic set up in the center and the most endearing fountain decorated with roses.

Without hesitation, you had entered the lovely place and made your way to the flower patches. Yeonjun had followed you right behind & plucked a flower along the way. As you were admiring the flowers, the boy had admired you. Smiling to himself, he handed you one. “Amaryllis. This flower symbolizes splendid beauty. It fits you as you’re beyond beautiful.” You tried hard not to blush, but was that really possible when Yeonjun was being charming & smooth? “Thank you Junnie. I’m flattered. But hey should we go to the picnic blanket and eat snacks?”

Nodding his head he agreed to your preposition & gently held your hand as you made your way to the blanket.

Cuddling up while deliciously eating the chocolate dipped strawberries Yeonjun had prepared was something you never expected. Especially for a 10 years of friendship anniversary. Immersed in your conversation with him, you had almost forgotten about the mesmerizing fountain. “Yeonjun!! Let’s go check out the fountain!!” you excitedly said while grabbing his hands and running over to it. The fountain was decorated with various types of roses, from roses covered in glitter to roses with tiny bows wrapped around them. But they all had one thing in common : they were all red.

“Yeonjun, I am out of words! This is absolutely splendid and I can’t believe you worked so hard for this. I appreciate it and I am so happy to have you in my life.” You said, turning to face him. Completely ignoring you, he suddenly asked “Do you know what’s a red rose's meaning?” with a straight face.

Flustered with the question, you hesitantly answer “I mean, yeah? Red rose symbolizes love & romance.”

“Well. I know this might be sudden to you but I love you. I admire everything about you, from your eyes to your cute petite hands, from the way crinkles form under your eyes when you smile to your nonsense jokes. I prepared this with the thoughts of confessing to you as I couldn’t hide my feelings anymore but if you just wanna remain friends then I will also be okay with that.”

Shock went throughout your entire body..but it quickly turned into happiness and shyness.

“You see Yeonjun, I also love you. But I was afraid to confess to you as I didn’t want to ruin our friends-" your talking was abruptly stopped as Yeonjun had pressed his lips against yours. The kiss was short and sweet but it was something you would forever cherish. His lips are plump and soft and your entire body felt as if it was 7 meters above the sky.

“Strawberries.”

“ Huh, what?.”

“ Your lips taste like strawberries, Yeonjun. My first kiss is also a strawberry kiss.”

He giggled at your comment and even though he thought the same, he mocked you for saying that.

“My FiRsT KiSs iS aLsO a StrAwBeRrY kiSs.” He imitated you in a funny tone and pushed your shoulder a little too harshly which resulted into a disaster. As both of you were still standing in front of the fountain, Yeonjun's act made you fall into the fountain ; but as you were holding his hand he got dragged with you and he also fell. Laughter erupted all over the place as both of you were completely wet, covered with rose petals over your hair.

“Well. Isn’t this just marvelous?” you said, splashing water at Yeonjun. He couldn’t say anything but just admire the way you look. Even though you were completely wet, the rose petals in your hair and your bright smile made him think you look like an angel. The boy smiled sweetly before gently pulling you into his embrace so you wouldn’t get cold and planting a kiss on your forehead innocently.

Now that she’s 8 and starts to realise how your terms with roger are, you finally tell her that you’re seeing another man except her father and she took it really warmly. She seemed excited to meet the new man unlikely your ex husband who accidentally learns about it by Laura, the weekend you would leave her at his place: on weekends you had some cute getaways with R/N because the court decided that Laura could stay or visit her dad on weekends and stay with him for five days each Christmas and easter vacations. On summers he has the right to be with her for two weeks.

It was around seven in the morning. Your head was dizzying and took you ages to get out of bed after blaming the wine for the headache you're feeling now. Roger was a sleepy angel with his blonde messy hair and his back covering his bedside. You had to fix and prepare yourself for work. It's nice going to work from Tuesday to Friday but the work you put in within these eight hours as an accountant in the bank, is exhausting.

"Roger, I have to go..." you knell next to him, softly playing with his hair. His face was turned against yours, you could see him sleeping deeply. What a cutie he was.

"Mmm?" He asked on his sleep, without being aware of what you said.

"Babe?" You kissed his forehead. You haven't done that for ages. Your relationship starts involving again. After the short name you called him, he opened his eyes and seemed kinda lost.

"Wh- where are you going?" He asked again after stretching himself.

"I have to go to work..." you explained.

"I can drive you off." He offered himself.

"No, the public should not see us together, you know, the paps." You narrowed your brows. They always annoyed you.

"Yeah, that's right... I'll have to go to work in a couple of hours too. I'll call you from there. I think I have your office's phone number," he scratched his head and looked at you focused.

"I think you do, yeah. We'll see each other later?" You asked, wishing to be true.

"What a stupid question, of course." He smiled and came closer to you for a kiss. "Laura will be here when you arrive." He slightly squeezed your cheek.

"Nice." you stood on your feet again and attempted to walk away but his hand stopped you.

"Last night was amazing. So refreshing for us, right?" He stated, waiting for your approval.

"Couldn't agree more." You laughed.

"You look so freshly fucked by me, I can see that." He joked and a giggle escaped your mouth.

"Is that visible?" You asked, checking yourself at the mirror.

"Yes, you're happy." He wasnt laughing anymore, he was serious about it and with that, you turned to him smiling. It's true, you were feeling happy. You were happy everytime he gave you pleasure. You give him soul and body, he gives you pleasure and happiness after it. You wanted to feel like that. You needed it by him. You didn't say a word. Just a simple smile to him and it made his day and yours too.

Your work to bank was going to be productive but an unpleasant surprise sooner or later would ruin it all.

At your launch time, you walked with your colleague, Mary, at the bank's restroom, where you can calmly drink some coffee and chat.

"I tried to reach you last night but you wouldn't pick up." Mary started and sipped a little of her coffee. "I was thinking you'd come over at my place to drink some wine and listen to jazz." She added.

"I wasn't home actually and I don't think I'll be again." You nodded your head in refusal while the little spoon you used to mix sugar with coffee was thrown at the sink.

"Wait, you're moving out?" She asked confused.

"Basically I'm moving back to Roger's house. I was living there before the divorce." You answered.

"Holy s-" she was a little louder than she wanted to be but she already covered her mouth with her hand. You made her the shush gesture with your finger. "Holy shit!" She whispered close to you fully excited. "So you two are..." she winked.

"Yes, I think so." You smiled.

"I'm so happy about it, I mean you look happy too, I haven't seen you like this since..." she stopped. "Wait, I haven't seen you like that." She came a little closer to your face trying to check your eyes. "What happened last night, naughty girl?" She winked again and teased your arm. She was open about her relationships to you and so were you to her. She's probably the closest friend you have.

"Mary, that's personal!" You laughed trying to hide your excitement.

"It wasn't so personal to you telling me about R/N's poor sexual skills." She sarcastically raised her brow.

"Yes because he lacked on that, I wouldn't come if I didn't masturbate after-party, y' know?" You hinted and she totally understood. "I wanted to share this problem with you."

"Too pity, he only likes flexing around his cars but on sex, poor guy..." she started. "But you know, I never liked this man. How come you, Roger Taylor's ex-wife and current girlfriend date a man like R/N?" She reminded your standards and she was right. It was all about your image and your dignity.

"I guess I was too hurt by Roger, I couldn't see clearly. I always loved him." You stared at the floor and sipped from your cup.

"And you're back again which is perfect than before. I'm sure Laura will be happier." She smiled.

"She already is." You nodded and smiled back.

"Hey ladies, you have some work to do out there, what's taking you so long?" A colleague of yours, came in the room demanding you to get back to work.

"Sure, we're going back, sorry for that." Mary took the lead and left the room, now both of you went back at your posts.

At the studio

Roger was on studio with Brian and John, fixing their instruments before starting recording. Freddie was yet to be seen so John asked, knowing what was happening. "Everything alright?"

Roger finished fixing his drum kit and turned to John's side, "If you're talking about last night, you better be sure about it. What about Laura?" Roger asked.

"Vera drove them off to school earlier, she said she will pick them up. She'll be in our place." John replied.

"Oh nice then, sure, I'll pick her up, I'm thinking of a fancy dinner with Y/N and Laura at some restaurant." Roger was arranging a dinner with his beloved family, thinking something big.

"Oh, I'm curious to find out!" John smiled.

"Rog," Brian took part in the conversation, coming closer to his bandmates. "You should book a table if you're going to do what I'm thinking." He pressed his hand on Roger's shoulder.

"What do you think I'm going to do?" Roger asked confused.

"Sweet lord," John gasped. "Wait, you're not going to propose her again, right?"

"Why not?" Roger asked in disbelief.

"Roger, it didn't work all this time. Just because you spent two days together doesn't mean you'll be like that again." Brian was negative about Roger's thought.

"And why not? I changed my mind, I was immature, I know. But now I'm different." He tried to defend himself.

"Roger, she might feel pressed if you propose her again." John was trying to explain.

"No she won't, she won't see R/N again, I know it. She ran to me the moment he raised a hand on her." Roger protested.

"He what?" John was shocked. "Y/N would never let a man hit her, what are you talking about?" John couldn't believe his ears.

"Her cheeks were burning when she ran to me and-" Roger was feeling tense.

"Roger, you won't let him get away with it, will you?" Brian crossed his arms.

"What can I do? I am not the one who was assaulted." Roger loudly said, feeling ready to explode.

"Who was assaulted?" Freddie's voice echoed in the studio and his bandmates' gave him a death stare. "What? I'm not late." He arrogantly raised his brow and smoked a bit of his cigarette.

"We were having a conversation about Roger and Y/N." Brian made a briefing of the situation.

"Oh, I'm all ears, did you have sex?" He winked to Roger.

"Yes we did, but that's not the thing." He shook his head in total confusion.

"Alright, alright, what's the matter? I heard about someone getting assaulted?" Freddie asked concerned.

"Yes, Y/N was. He spied on her on Sunday night because she didn't want him to stay there." Roger started.

"Oh, you drove Laura off that night, didn't you? At her flat." Freddie asked, recalling the facts cause he was there that afternoon, at Roger's house.

"Correct. So, Laura kind of wanted me to stay and Y/N made her the favour, but I prepared our ground, I fixed a drink she was relaxed and we ended up making love." Roger felt like missing you right now.

"Oh, that's, that's good!" Brian commented.

"Yes, it is. And what happened next?" John asked, trying to learn all the details. They all wanted actually.

"Well yeah, the next day things were a little awkward between us but in the end it wasn't anymore. That asshole, went at her home, raised a hand on her and my girl ran to my place." Roger said.

"Who the fuck does he think he is?" Freddie gasped. He was nuts.

"She obviously ran to her shelter." John made a romantic comment

"She won't leave it unpunished, will she?" Freddie asked.

"I don't know." Roger thoughtfully said.

"Well, fucking call her," Freddie yelled.

"Stop yelling at me, okay? I'll do it." Roger yelled back and Brian with John shared a laugh.

Roger grabbed the phone and dialled your office's phone number. He was impatient to call you, but at least he had a reason to do it. You picked up from the other side, too busy from your work. "Hello?"

"Y/N?" Roger's voice was unsure and unsteady. He barely spoke to you on the phone. He would call at his early days while on tour.

"Roger? Hi!" You smiled after recognizing his voice. "Are you at the studio?" You stopped archiving loan papers and focused on him.

"Yes, Freddie just arrived." He tried to remain calm.

"Oh, tell the boys I said hi." You giggled.

"Of course." Roger cleared his voice before getting to the topic. "So um, about yesterday, when R/N appeared at your flat, will you sue him or something?" He asked fully concerned about your safety.

"How come asking me this?" You asked confused.

"I was talking to the boys about it, I needed some advice. Will you sue him?" He asked.

"I don't know, Roger. I don't think he'll appear again. Not after what happened. I guess he knows we are starting over." You explained.

"But what if he appears?" He asked.

"Don't panic me, please. I don't want to work in fear."  Now that Roger gave you a reason to be scared, it wouldn't leave your mind that R/N would come again to hurt you. He has shown some red flag signs at the time but you never really paid attention because they weren't a big deal.

"I just care about you, y/n. I want to feel sure that you're not getting hurt or approached by him." His voice lowered but his head was thinking many things.

"Nothing to worry about. I'm happy that you called." You changed the subject trying to talk about something else.

"Um, y/n?" He asked while playing with phone's wire.

"Yeah?" You playfully asked while opening clients' folders to verify their deposits.

"I was thinking if you'd like us to go for dinner tonight, as a family." He finally said kicking out his stress.

"That would be great!" Your eyes got wide opened. You liked the idea.

"Perfect. We'll talk about the details when we get home. I mean, at my place." He clarified.

"Sure. Do you think I should move out?" You asked.

"Yes, come where you were staying first. At my house. I'll help you with that." He offered his help which you couldn't deny.

"Nice then." You said. "Y/n, can you sign these client's papers, please?" A female voice was heard from the back.

"Should I hang up?" Roger asked.

"Yes, we'll talk later! Bye!" You were rushing to hang up.

"Love y-" you hung up and left Roger wondering if you heard his last words. "You." He ended it, being sure now that you didn't hear that. "How did it go?" Roger asked Fred.

"Better than I thought." Freddie giggled.

Recordings today, finished earlier than expected, Queen brainstormed more than usual, making some good progress. They were free to go.

"Should we go to the pub downtown?" Brian asked.

"Sure, I haven't planned anything," Freddie answered and John nodded.

"Roger?" Brian turned to the drummer.

"Go and I'll catch up with you." He smiled and they all left the studio.

Roger was on his way to the bank you work. He parked at the opposite corner waiting for you to finish your work. He wanted you to join him and the rest members at the pub, like the old times. But an unpleasant surprise gave him all the negative vibes he had gathered for a long time. It was R/N who was suspiciously walking towards the bank. Roger knew something was wrong. He carefully checked the road before crossing it.

You were ready to leave, said bye to your colleagues and at the entrance door, the man you used to date for a short period of time stood at your sight.

"Wh-what are you doing here?" You asked trying to remain calm.

"What do you mean what am I doing here?" He let out an evil smile. "I'm here to pay my fucking bills." He was ironic. He didn't mean it literally.

"We're over, R/N. Deal with it." You had to remain quiet and calm. You work there. Gazes started to turn to you two, making you feel embarrassed. You attempted to walk away but his hand stopped you. He was holding a newspaper photo; probably from The Sun, it was Roger and you in it. Oh shit, here we go again you thought. The press smelled gossip.

"You ran to your rock star husband? Wasn't I enough?" He shouted pointing out the photo. It was you and Roger five years ago, exiting a club in the city, but the title caught your attention: Roger Taylor and y/n  y/f/n spotted together after divorce!

"Stop shouting, I work here!" You warned him to stay quiet but he wouldn't. He was risking your job permanent position.

"You don't need to work when your rich husband can give you a luxurious life!" He mocked you and now he pointed to Roger, ready to read the article out loud. "Queen's drummer Roger Taylor was recently reported sharing a not-only-steamy kiss with his ex-wife but a steamy night at his place in West London" Clients and colleagues turned around and saw you standing there fully ashamed and embarrassed. Of course, they knew who you were married to. You really wanted to die. You couldn't handle the situation. "You want me to continue?" He asked with a smile on his face.

"Fuck off." You whispered close to his face and he seemed to enjoy it.

"I think I'm the one who should have said this." He raised his brow. This man is a pure toxic thing. "You take cocks like they're dinner or something, is that your talent?" His voice was louder than expected and all you could do was slap him. That sound was probably heard to the restroom inside. He was pushing the limits and your boss came out of his office, staring at you shocked.

"Mrs Taylor I think you should discuss your personal issues somewhere more private, don't you think?" His voice was strict and you thought that being fired is the most possible scenario.

"Yes, of course, have a nice evening." You tried to walk fastly out of the bank but a gentle hand stopped you. You looked who it was and it was Roger.

"She's not Mrs Taylor. Not yet." Roger defended your place, with R/N, your boss, your colleagues and the clients standing there with their mouths wide open. "Boss, how on earth do you let your employees be disrespected like that?" Roger came closer to him but you tried to stop him. "That asshole right there disrespected your employee and you did nothing!"

"Roger, please stop, I'll lose my job, fucking stop!" You tried to pull him back but he wouldn't do it. "Stop!" You yelled and then he stopped and looked at you.

"I'm trying to defend you." He whispered at your face, he noticed how upset you looked.

"Please. Everyone's looking at us. Let's get out of here." Your eyes begged him to leave as soon as possible.

"And what about this asshole?" Roger pointed out R/N.

"He can't do anything, let's go, please." You wrapped your hands around his arms, not letting go. You walked out of the bank and the man followed you. Oh, shit.

You were walking towards your cars, but R/N wouldn't leave like that, without provoking Roger. He would lose temper in any second.

"According to the musician's neighbours, the previous night was like some Queen concert. Really loud." He was reading out loud the article and Roger looked at him with his one and only death stare.

"Roger please, let's go, don't give him the satisfaction, he's trying to make you lose temper! Don't hit him!" You stopped him. Now people from the bank and pedestrians would whether at Roger and you or R/N.

"What would y/n 's  y/f/n  current partner say about today's hot issue? Can't wait to see more! This couple is so promising. Whether married or not, they never fail to excite us!" He laughed after reading the article. "They paid me thousands for this article. What do you think?" He asked.

"What?" You asked shocked.

"I'm a journalist, you knew that. But I'm also a jealous and a possessive mate, I don't like my partners to fuck around." He came closer to you. He was threatening. Roger would kill him at any second.

"But you hit me. You weren't violent, you despised that." You answered.

"I surely despise violence. But violence brings violence. You betrayed my trust." He yelled.

"That wasn't a reason to hit her!" Roger yelled back.

Paps noticed the drama and clicks were already heard. You were about to be on headlines tomorrow morning.

"But you fucked her! Aren't your groupies enough?" R/N shouted.

"Shut the fuck up! They're taking photos of us and they'll have us on headlines tomorrow, I don't want that!" You pushed him but he wasn't playing.

He was about to push you back but Roger protected you, standing in front of you and getting on hands with R/N.

Three policemen noticed the tense and ran through your place. "What's going on here?" One of them asked.

"He's a random man saying weird things, he won't let us leave!" Roger lied.

"He fucks my wife!" R/n lied back.

"What the hell, you're not my husband!" Your life was such a drama right now, you wanted to go home and hide under your pillows.

"Enough sir, we'll have to keep you at the police station today. You caused enough trouble today. Let the celebrity man with his wife go to the court." The policeman was aware of yours and Roger's status. Roger's fame probably saved your asses for now; Not including your boss firing you the next day, though.

"Um, are you alright?" You asked while hugging Roger.

"Yes. You?" He pulled away to check on you.

"Kinda..." you were feeling upset. You just had to play it cool.

"Listen, the boys are waiting for us at the pub we met, mind joining us?" He whispered at your ear, not wanting the paps to hear you.

"I think I'll need a drink to calm down." You nodded.

"Alright, get on your car and follow me, we'll have to get rid of everyone. They'll follow us." He kissed your lips and that was the second the clicks were heard the most.

Roger smiled at the cameras, acting as if nothing happened and finally drove off.

"Are you sure this thing isn't a slumber party?" Kelly criticizes. You open your locker as your friends begin to bicker on both sides of you. Something akin to petty surround sound.

"I told you! It's a night of female bonding-- a chance for us to get together and talk about what's important," Brenda explains.

"But we're doing it in our PJs," Donna interjects.

"Well, that would make sense unless you prefer to sleep in your clothes," You say, "Bren, I think it's a great idea. It could be fun!"

"Can we invite some guys to come over later? I mean, after we've talked and bonded and everything?" Kelly asks.

"Kelly, I thought what we wanted was an evening to ourselves where we don't have to think about guys, talk about guys, or worry about what we look like 'cause some guy is around. Isn't that what we said?" She nods, rolling her eyes. "So what's the problem?"

"Nothing!" She leans against the lockers, "Actually... there is one thing. I kinda made plans with this other friend of mine, Amanda Pacer. You don't know her, she's a senior, but we have been friends forever."

"So bring her," you suggest, taking out your history book and shutting your locker.

"Well... I know this may sound stupid, but I don't want her to think this is a slumber party... It's not a slumber party, right?"

"Brenda! Kelly, Y/N, and Donna are here to bond with you!" Brandon shouts up the stairs, laden in his all-white Peach Pit uniform. He looked so cute, this "no guy" rule was pointless. Especially when the said guys looked like that. "Hey Y/N/N," he kisses you softly, pulling you closer to him.

"Hey," you mumble. He gives you a hard, dizzying, coffee-flavored kiss as he slowly backs into the front door. You hum against him happily, "I'll pay you to stay, I'm serious. Cold hard cash." He grins, slipping his warm hands under the sides of your jacket, holding onto your hips gently.

"As much as I'd like to, I promised Nat I'd pick up this shift."

"Tell him you have other business to attend to. Like getting me out of this slumber party. Nat'll understand," you plead jokingly. One more soft, sweet kiss and he lets go of you. "Brandon..." he smiles at you adoringly and turns towards the other two girls waiting in the foyer, pretending that they weren't just watching everything you two were doing.

"Have fun, ladies," he swings the front door open and leaves as quickly as possible, knowing that if he stayed any longer you'd actually end up convincing him to stay. When you walked in he popped the radio on and you sat down as a Gloria Estefan song played quietly throughout the hotel room. Dylan was over at the wet bar, pouring himself a glass of scotch. Looking back, it was the only time you'd ever seen him drink something in moderation.

"You drink?" He asked, looking back at you.

"I could start," you shrug. And that was the first of many bad decisions you'd make in that hotel room. He grabs a second pint glass, but you weren't paying much attention to him as he clanked around, trying to pour you something that wouldn't make you gag.

He hands you the concoction and sits down beside you, his legs against yours. A little closer than normal, but you didn't think anything of it. Fidgeting anxiously, you began to drink whatever it was he gave you. It was new, being alone with him like that. Sure, you could hang out with him in groups but... just you and him? You tilted the glass back, letting the smooth and surprisingly digestible liquor flow down your throat until there was nothing left in your glass. This stuff was supposed kill anxiety, right? He eyes you up. Peculiarly, but not critically.

"Thirsty?"

"Yeah, you could say that." He would continue to fill your glass, and his own, for that matter, all night. He'd put on his Road House VHS tape somewhere in the middle. And you were watching it. You really were. But as the movie went on longer, you got closer. A fairly innocent movie night (the first of many) turned into a night full of regrets.

His hand was on your leg right before the first kiss happened, thumb drawing dizzying little circles on your thigh as he watched the movie. You're sure if you showed any signs of discomfort he would've stopped-- that fact gave you peace in the moment. But the last thing you wanted him to do was stop. So he didn't. And neither did you. It wasn't until later, when his lips were trailing down your jaw, hands pushing your dress up, and his own white t-shirt was somewhere on the floor next to you. That's when it came to a crashing halt. Removing his lips from your neck, he sighed.

"What is it?" You asked. The air between you two was intense, sensitive. One move and he'd be back on top of you, starting the cycle all over again.

"What about Minnesota?" He slides you off of his lap in one swift motion, but his hand was lingering on your hip.

"What about Brandon?"

"Come on, you've seen how he is around you. I don't want to get in the way of that, mess anything up."

Definitely It's Raining by Snuper has to be up there, due to the footwork alone. Also U by KNK because it kills me everytime (Jihun is in his element and out to kill). And pretty much all of SHINee's choreography (though Lucifer and everybody choreo is legendary). Also I love the collab song between NU'EST W and Seventeen, Heaven, it's choreography is ridiculous and amazing. Also, Lilliabbay by Seventeen's performance unit is a work of art. Plus Pentagon's funny choreography for Shine gives me life.

CHAPTER 15 - SKIN TO SKIN

After they entered the hotel room, still without a word, Lily fell down on her bed, feeling exhausted. It wasn't late, but all those emotions drained her, and she still felt extremely guilty to see Misha so upset. The atmosphere in the room was heavy and cold, but Misha broke the silence with his low voice.

"I'll be back soon." She looked up to see him leave the room, probably to go get something to eat. She Just hated everything about herself right now... But she had to do it... right? She didn't even know exactly how she really felt about him. They were in love when they were young, that's for sure, but now? Everything had changed. Nothing could be the same anymore, and obviously he didn't want to face it.

She did what she always did when she wasn't feeling good: Call Katie. She just hoped she wasn't too busy rehearsing.

"Heyyy! what's up Lily-bee?" She picked up right away and just hearing her high and raspy voice made Lily feel better. "Hey Kat! You seem good! Where are you?" "In the cafeteria at work, with David who says hi! Are you with Misha?" "Not right now, he uuh... He went to get some food."

Even through the phone, she couldn't fool Katie who immediately heard something was wrong.

"Is everything okay? You sound weird." "Yeah don't worry, we just kinda had what you could call a... disagreement?" "Again? Let me guess: He doesn't want you to sell the estates." Lily cleared her throat. “He actually doesn't. You're good!”

That happened yesterday, but she actually were glad that she had an excuse not to talk about what really happened. At that moment, she thought about something else that changed between her and Misha: they were fighting a lot more. Of course they had fights too when they were teens, but it was rare, and pretty much everytime about something really stupid. But now, they seem to disagree about everything, and it just proved how much they've changed and nothing could be the same.

“Ah ah, I knew it! He's a sentimental and he keeps tearing up when he talks about his childhood, I knew he would try to make you change your mind about selling. Did he actually succeed?” “No, he didn't. I will definitely sell whether he likes it or not. It's not his decision. It won't be easy for me either, but I have to.” “Lily... Do you realize how much money those properties must be worth?”

Katie had a point... The Litchfield mansion was huge and well preserved even if it needed to be freshen up a little, and the farm was even bigger and still workable despite the half burnt residence that should be fixed. “Probably a few... millions...” Lily pointed out.

Money had never been a problem for her, as far as she could remember, her grandfather and father did such a great job with the farm that they had more than enough and they were privileged enough to help other people, but hearing herself saying “millions” was kind of a shock for her anyway, so she just decided to laugh about it for now.

“I'll buy you a boat.” She chuckled. Katie scoffed. “God... I won't even start to tell you how much you'll be able to do with that kind of money, I guess you already know.” “Yeah, don't bother. So... Can we please change the subject for something... lighter?” She was beginning to feel really uncomfortable and that was not why she called Katie in the first place, she needed to be cheered up.

“Alright, alright. Hey umm... Have you checked Twitter since the convention?” Okay... Twitter was definitely a lighter subject, but she had a very bad feeling when she heard the tone in Katie's voice. “No. Should I?” “You know, you should uuh... you should probably change it and make it more... private.” “Why? What's going on?” “Well... you know how Supernatural fans are about girls and everything...”

Couldn't she be more specific? No, she didn't know anything about those stuffs! “Just... Trust me and change it okay? You don't need to waste your time reading everything. It's worthless.” “Thank you! Now I'm freaking out! I'll check it later.” “I need to go, Lily. David's eyes are getting scary, he's been waiting for me long enough. Call me if you need to talk alright? Love ya!” “Wait! What-” Great... she hung up.

Since Misha was still out, she opened the Twitter app on her phone and checked her timeline. It didn't look that bad, some people wanted to know if it was really her they saw at the convention, some others sent her nice tweets saying they were happy Misha found her back, that they were cute together on stage, that they wanted more stories, and then some... oh...

Some people thought she was lying about her identity just to be close to the cast, she saw someone tweeting that she was just Vicki's girlfriend, but Misha wanted to hide it so he made this old friend/girlfriend story up, others simply sent insults thinking she pretended to be his friend just for his money or fame... and she also saw a tweet saying she just wanted to end his marriage because she was jealous. They sure had a lot of imagination!

Their words were very hurtful though... Attention whore... freak... gold digger...jealous bitch...

She jumped when she heard the lock on the door clicking. Misha walked inside the room, put the food on the table and saw her standing in front of the window like a statue, her phone in her hand and a very annoyed look on her face. “Wow, relax. I took something for you too!”

She opened her mouth like she wanted to say something, but no sound got out. She just stayed here with her mouth open, breathing heavily.

“Lily? Don't be so dramatic, I'll get over it. I'm sorry if I reacted so-” She raised her phone and slid her finger on the screen to show him all those tweets about her. He wasn't even surprised.

“Oh... Yeah I could've warned you that could eventually happen.” She felt a wave of wrath growing inside of her. “That's all you have to say???”

He threw the phone down on her bed. “Well, it's unfortunate, but it's part of my life. Some people are just really, really stupid and do that for... I don't even know what for to be honest. I just don't pay attention to them. I'd rather focus on the positive aspect of this fandom to do good things.”

Unbelievable... He talked about it like it was the most normal thing in the world. Was she overreacting? Was she just a drama queen or something?

“Oh, so I am just supposed to shut up and let people insult me in public?” “Well, first you're supposed to make your Twitter more secure, but yeah, just ignore them. Don't let them get to you. You have no idea how many horrors I've read about me, and even about my family, kids included.”

She sat back on her bed and rubbed her face, sighing deeply in defeat. “That a lot of crap for a couple of days.” Misha frowned. “Hey! I don't want you to feel bad about our trip here!”

She stared at him with wide eyes. “Look at us, Misha! We can't stop fighting! We disagree on everything, this is ridiculous! And now this? This whole thing is a complete disaster!”

He sat on his bed, facing her, a bit disappointed she felt that way. “I don't think it is.” “See? Again, we disagree!”

His face fell at her hurtful sarcastic tone and his voice started to raise. “Don't ruin this for me! I enjoy being here with you!” “Naturally, it's my fault again. It was a fucking bad idea in the first place and you know it! We have nothing to do here anymore, among ashes and ghosts of the past! We're not the same persons anymore, we have nothing in common, just face it Misha, and then you'll be able to move on like I did!” She almost screamed.

She sighed heavily, got up of the bed and went to the bathroom, not bothering closing the door behind her as she was just getting her stuff back to put them on her suitcase.

“What are you doing?” Misha followed her. “I'm going back home, where I belong. We've wasted enough time. I should be rehearsing for next weekend's concert and you should be with your family while you're free.” She spat harshly. “Oh, so this is your solution to every problem in your life, uh? Running away? Just like you ran to Europe? That's the only thing you can do? Very brave, Lily!” They were both screaming at each other now, Misha following her every move, ready to jump if she tried to escape.

She opened the dresser and picked her clothes, throwing them angrily in her suitcase without even folding them properly. “Shut up! Don't pretend you know me! You don't! You did, but it's over. It's fucking over, Misha, do you understand that?” Her voice was shaky as she started crying, not because she was sad, but because she was full of rage, trying to make him understand that all of this was useless. She had a hard time closing her suitcase, as it was a big mess inside and she was shaking from anger.

“Do what you want here, take whatever you want, I don't even care. I'll call the agency to sell the houses next week, so you better hurry.” She put her suitcase down and started walking toward the door, taking her jacket and phone on her way. Misha followed her, feeling everything around him crumbling.

“Lily, stop!! Wait!!” He ran to the door so he could reach it before her and stood on the way so she couldn't get out. “Get out of my way!” He didn't move. His jaw clenched and his nostrils flared as he stared at her angrily. “Make me.” His voice was dangerously calm and low now.

In her rage, Lily threw her jacket in his face but he caught it. “Get... the fuck... OUT... OF MY SIGHT!” She yelled, catching every object she could put her hand on and throwing them at him between her words.

Tired of her little scene, Misha stepped forward and caught her right wrist so she would stop throwing things at him. She gasped. “Let me go!” He caught her other wrist, roughly pulled her towards him, spun around and pinned both of her wrists above her head against the front door. She struggled, panting, so he stepped closer to press her whole body between him and the door to keep her from moving and hurt herself.

“You fucking bastard! Get the fuck away from me! Let me go, damn it!!” She screamed, feeling trapped. He got even closer and looked down at her, his face only a few inches from hers, her wrists still pinned above her head. “I can't...” He whispered between clenched teeth. She panted and tried to struggle even more, but he was definitely stronger so she could only writhe a little under his weight, driving him crazy.

He leaned closer and crashed his lips on hers, sucking on them before biting her lower lip, which startled her so she made a strangled noise. He took both of her wrists in his right hand as he needed the left one to grip firmly on her chin and tilted it up so she would look at him in the eyes.

"I would love to check out of here and spend our last night at the farm."

She almost gasped. "What? There's nothing there! No water, no power... No beds!" "Like I care. I lived like that before, remember?"

Oh snap... Of course she remembered but she hadn't thought about it and now she felt slightly embarrassed and guilty. "Yeah you did but... This is different... I mean... It's wild and full of... Insects and who knows what else and..." He chuckled. "When did you become so townie? You're a countryside girl! Where did your adventurous spirit go?" "It burnt away."

That harsh comment hit Misha like an ice cold shower. "I refuse to let you become that kind of person. We're going, period."

He stood up, put his jacket on, took his suitcase and left the room to go check out at the front desk, taking her with him by the hand. Lily sighed but had no other choice but to follow him... It's gonna be a damn long night.

Jughead is messing with some melody on the ukulele he leaves on the office as they wait  for everyone to arrive. He’s had it since meetings had become a common thing. 

Jughead’s muse was fickle and when his inspiration showed up, his fingers would  itch to write down the melody, play it and make it clear in his head. That’s  where the ukulele had taken residence on Cheryl’s office, much to her chagrin.

Slowly,his fingers start playing a song that’s been stuck in his head all day. Smiling  lightly when Archie starts to hum along the tune. It takes only a few seconds  for Melody to use the table as a drum, lightly tapping her hands on the surface  to the rhythm.

Sometimes you've got to bleed to know,

That you're alive and have a soul,

But it takes someone to come around to show you how...

Archie starts singing with a smile. Jughead enjoys these quiet moments when they get to  jam out like when they were teenagers in Archie’s garage, not a single care in ��the world for them beyond doing music and enjoying the process.

Now there are moments of stress where Melody wipes a tear off her cheek because she  misses her family. Archie will sometimes knock a few shots whiskey alone as he  watches the road fly by. Valerie would go out at night and not return until the  next day, sometimes that place would be Archie’s bedroom. Jughead locks himself in his apartment to surround himself with his instruments or a book and blurt everything he feels into a notebook.

The songs on the radio are ok,

But my taste in music is your face,

And it takes a song to come around to show you how...

Jughead joins Archie singing, both of them smiling along with Melody, Valerie moving her head to the beat. He can feel the stress leaking out of them little by little as they lose themselves in the song. This is where he feels more comfortable, like this is where he’s meant to be.

By the time they reach the final chorus, Jughead and Archie have found the perfect way  to harmonize their voices. Archie hitting the higher notes when Jughead voice  covers the rest. There’s a glint in Archie’s eyes, a certain kind of happiness  that he suspects has to do with seeing him let go and sing along his best  friend.

Jughead lets the song die slowly, the last Than I’ve ever been done by him in a  light rasp that sounded more like he was speaking than singing, eyes closed. A  few claps make him jump from his seat, turning around to see Veronica, Betty,  Cheryl and two other men that Jughead recognized from being in Betty’s band.

“That was so good! I love Twenty One Pilots.” Betty says, blinding smile on her face. It  makes Jughead smile a little in reply. “I didn’t know you could sing.” She says  as Veronica and all of them come into the room.

“He does the backing vocals.” Archie answers, coming behind him and patting Jughead on the chest. He winces a little at the cave man act, then sees how her eyes light up at the sight of his best friend. “How are y’all?”

“We’re good, thank you for asking.” Betty replies, as they sit on the large table. One band in front of the other with Cheryl in one end and Veronica plus a production man next to them. “This is Kevin and Reggie, by the way. Guitar and Drums.” Betty says, pointing at them. Kevin waves somewhat awkwardly and Reggie nods, his hands on the pockets of his jacket nonchalantly.

“Of course you’re good. You’re about to sign on a great deal with our own Archiekins here. Who wouldn’t be good?” Cheryl says, raising her eyebrows. It makes Jughead snort at her words.

“Archiekins? I like it.” Veronica says. He catches the way Archie is giving Veronica his infamous Andrews smirk and has to control himself from rolling his eyes.

“We tried to make it his stage name but he wouldn’t give in.” Valerie says, faking a pout at Archie.

“Yeah, contrary to popular belief I actually want people to take me seriously…” Archie defends himself.

“Could’ve fooled me, buddy.” Jughead mutters to himself. Betty chuckles and he realises she’s directly in front of him. He smiles shyly in return.

“I heard that, buddy.” Archie says, narrowing his eyes at him. Jughead gives him an innocent expression and grabs the bottle of water in front of him, taking a sip.

“Shall we start?” Michael, the producer, says with a bored expression on his face like dealing with twenty somethings sucks the life out of him.

“We shall.” Cheryl answers with a big smile. She gets up and starts handing everyone papers. “I left pens in the middle of the table for everyone to sign with. I checked those papers myself so they’re perfect. Let me break it down… Basically, signing these papers you would be agreeing to go on tour with Archie and the bad as their supporting act. You would have 45 minutes to perform, the recommended amount of songs is around 9 but you get to mostly manage that. The first leg of the tour is happening  in two months, this is sort of last minute to be honest.” Cheryl’s eyes wander towards Archie and Jughead in apprehension. “You’d also be able to sell your merch in the stands we’ll give you. As I mentioned earlier, the first leg will involve 26 venues and for the second leg… if everything goes alright we will call you back.”

“Can we have a moment to read this?” Veronica says, all business now with a shocked Betty by her side, she looks like she’s processing information.

“Of course. Take all the time you need.” their manager answers.

“There you go.” Jughead gives the contract to Cheryl after signing it. They’re come very far with their relationship from high school. They actually trusted each other now, a development that happened after a real serious talk they’ve all had about actually making the band work. He barely looked over papers she handed him before signing anymore.

“Thank you, Jones.” The papers of the rest of the band follow while Veronica, Betty, Kevin and Reggie look over their papers. “Don’t you dare, J.” Cheryl says a few minutes later when Jughead’s hand moves towards the ukulele sitting on the chair next to him. He sighs, frowning at Cheryl who only gives him a stern glance like he’s some restless kid… which, alright, he kinda is.

“These look okay, Cheryl.” Veronica comments.

“You sure you don’t want to check those with a lawyer?” Cheryl asks her, moving her hair behind her shoulder with a flick of her head.

“Well, considering I’m one… it kinda has been checked.” Veronica’s sly grin makes her look sort of wicked to Jughead’s eyes.

“Wait, you’re a lawyer?” Archie asks, sounding surprised when she nods at him. “Nice.”

Veronica smiles at him in a way that would make Jughead fidget in his seat, but Archie only gets this really intense look on his face he’s only seen when he can’t play something and will practice it until he gets it right.

“Betty has good taste in managers.” The guitarist, Kevin, says with a smirk as he looks at the blonde.

“In friends, Kevin, in friends. ” Betty tells him and the two girls share an adoring look before Betty breaks it to hand Cheryl the signed papers. “There you go, Miss Blossom.”

“Miss Blossom, I like it.” Cheryl says. “I shall keep you, dear.”

“You should run while you still have time.” Jughead tells Betty, who smiles in amusement at him. “Save yourself.” he whispers dramatically before finally grabbing the ukulele.

“As you can see, Betty, I need people who truly appreciate me around here. I’ve been around these hobos for too long.”

“Hey!” Archie says. “I haven’t done anything.”

“Yet, Archiekins, yet.” Cheryl clarifies, gathering the rest of the paperwork. “Well, kids, that’s all. I officially welcome you to the tour.”

Betty claps happily with a dopey grin on her face, next to her bandmates who look equally excited. If Jughead looks really hard he thinks he can see her eyes being glassy at one point. Archie appears with a bottle of champagne and pours them on some toasting flutes that he’s never seen before.

Jughead barely has a sip after they toast, merely to keep appearances, not that anyone beside his friends will notice or know he doesn’t drink much alcohol and least of all champagne. He enjoys the contagious energy of the room, almost tasting the happiness rolling off on waves from Betty and her bandmates.

“We should continue celebrating. My house? What do you guys say?” Archie says when the champagne is gone and it’s time for them to leave the offices. Jughead closes his eyes briefly because he’s supposed to stay at Archie’s apartment today and he really wants to just crash on any flat surface he can find.  

“Are you sure?” Betty asks, wide eyes.

“I’m always up for a little party.” Reggie says, nodding and grinning.

“Yeah, I’m sure. You in?” Archie directs this last question to Veronica, who doesn’t seem as inclined to celebrate as the rest of them. She looks over at Betty and Jughead can see some weird unspoken conversation happening before she turns back to Archie.

“Sure! Only if you’re buying, though.” Veronica winks slyly.

“Any time.” Archie answers, grinning back at her. “Okay guys, let’s head out!”

“You coming with?” Jughead asks Cheryl, who is lightly chatting with the producer as she gathers the contract papers and puts them into a folder.

“Oh no, I have a date night with Joshua.” Cheryl tells him. “Some relaxing before the chaos starts.”

“Okay, say hi to him from me.” Jughead says, already walking backwards. “See you soon, chief.”  He turns to the door, almost colliding with Betty and Kevin who are chatting near the door in hushed tones. “Whoops, sorry.”

“No damage done.” Kevin says, lightly guiding Betty towards the exit. “Is Archie’s house far from here?” he asks.

“Uhm… not really. I’d say it’s 15 minutes.” He replies, pressing the button for the other elevator. Reggie, Veronica and Archie laughing as they enter theirs.

The trip on the elevator is passed in a short almost comfortable silence. Jughead leans on the side wall, closing his eyes for a minute before the doors open again, leaving them on the entrance of the building.

“Hey, Jug, you okay taking Betty,  Kevin and Valerie? I’ll take Veronica, Reggie and Melody.” Archie says as soon as they step out of the elevator. Jughead takes a deep breathe. Act nice, they’re the best supporting act for us. You can’t screw this up.

“Sure. Are you guys okay with that? My car is a block away.” He turns to ask them because, unlike Archie, he does have some manners… most of the time.

“Yeah, of course. We could take a cab there, thought, you don’t have to drive us.” Betty insists, he finds her attitude endearing and briefly wonders if she’s always so soft.

“It’s not trouble. I need to drive my car to Archie’s one way or the other, taking you doesn’t bother me at all. Come on…”

They make the short walk to his car, Kevin and Betty chatting by his side, Valerie joining the conversation occasionally.  Jughead turns down the music that begins blaring on his speakers as soon as he starts the car, feeling slightly disappointed when Valerie sits on the front seat, leaving Betty and Kevin on the back.

“Oh, you’re in a Muse mood?” Valerie asks, raising her eyebrows expectantly.

“Somewhat.” He simply answers, aware of the people listening.

Valerie knows him too much, especially about his moods, as the band likes to call them. Said moods include the battery of his phone dying because he will lock himself up on his home studio, unreachable, only to come back to life with a few new songs and dark circles under his eyes. Like clockwork, Jughead will start listening to Muse days before and sometimes during. There’s just something about the band that makes him feel ethereal and like he can handle everything that’s thrown at him, a powerful force flooding his veins.

“A muse mood?” Betty asks from the back. Jughead can see her frowning on his rearview mirror.

“A long stupid inside joke. Apparently when I hear Muse I get philosophical, annoyingly so. I personally disagree.” Jughead tells her, carefully avoiding the realness of it all.

“You say that because you’re not the one making a joke only for someone to start a rant about the purpose of life, creativity, how Tarantino is a cinematic genius or all of those together.” Valerie chuckles when Jughead glares at her.

“Well… in his defense Tarantino is a cinematic genius.” Betty says, shyly.

“Thank you! Finally, someone with a brain.” Jughead yells, lifting his hands for a second before putting them back on the steering wheel. “Don’t listen to them, Betty. We’re smarter and they’re just jealous. We’ll make our own band full of Tarantino and Muse.”

“We’ll be instantly famous.” Betty plays along. “We can write odes to Quentin.”

“I like the way you think.” Jughead looks at her in the rearview mirror, catching her eyes for a second and he can’t help but smile back at her, content spreading through his chest.

“Don’t give him any more ideas, girl.” Valerie tells Betty, smirking. The comfortable silence taking place for a few minutes, the music softly playing.

“We’re here.” Jughead says, pulling over next to Archie’s car.

“How the fuck are they already here?” Valerie asks, frowning as they get out of the car.

“You know Archie, his childhood dream was becoming speed racer.” Jughead kids, making Valerie laugh.

He opens the door to the apartment with his key, music can be heard from the outside. Jughead is already mentally preparing himself for the imminent headache as he opens the door to Archie’s obvious bachelor pad.

He has white bare walls, a comfortable couch with a huge tv and a guitar rack  on the other end of the living room. Archie doesn’t really have a home studio, choosing to use Jughead’s, even buying some gear for it himself. Jughead and Archie worked best together so they had decided it would be useless to spend money in two studios when they could have one and buy all the good stuff.

Jughead get himself a beer from the fridge as the rest talk and get comfortable in the living room. He later sits with them, picking one of the comfortable chairs and enjoying the chatter and laughter going on in the room. He thinks that maybe this could work, if they’re already getting along nicely, maybe tour could work . He feels like a broken record, but after all he’s been through it stills feels like everything could fall apart any minute.

A smile spreads on his face, relaxing further on the chair and laughing along with his friends as Archie tells a tour story of how Valerie accidentally kicked something and Archie’s guitar stopped sounding. His friend, in a break of genius, had asked the sound guys to bring him an acoustic guitar and they had done the rest of the show unplugged. It had been one of the greatest experiences in Jughead’s short life, the energy he had felt that night as the crowd went silent to listen them, softly singing along… he would never forget it. He vividly remembers going back to his apartment afterwards and crying like a baby because the emotions were too big for his chest.

It’s a while after when he makes his way to the balcony to have a cigarette and to get away from the noise if he was being honest. Times like these he wishes he could adapt more to social events like Archie or the rest of the band does, but they simply drain the energy out of him. He needs to prepare himself mentally each time. Concerts are different, that’s probably the only social interaction that he absolutely loves.

The night is quiet, a slight breeze cools his heated skin and clears his thoughts. Jughead watched the smoke from this cigarette disappear into nothingness, so enraptured on the simple action that he doesn’t notice her until she’s right beside him.

“Can I have one?” She asks, nodding towards the cigarette in his fingers.

“Why, Cooper, I didn’t picture you as a smoker.” He says, passing her the box and lighter, watching as she lights the cigarette. He notices how she closes her eyes at the first drag, her shoulders relaxing a little.

“I’m not. I just like to smoke from time to time.” She tells him, leaning her arms on the rail. “What did you picture me like?”

Her question surprises him and he turns to really look at her. She’s looking back at him, unflinching, eyes a little glassy from the alcohol, but open and curious as they stare at each other. Jughead looks at her polka-dot short sleeved dress, her wavy blonde hair braided on the top, black ankle boots and the tiny key necklace that adorns her neck. She looks amazing, there’s no denying that.

At first, Betty wouldn’t really stand out from other girls, but if you look closer, Jughead realises, you could see the fire in her eyes. He can see the passion and determination in those green eyes, it makes him want to lean forward so he can take a closer look, perhaps, right into her soul. The air changes the longer they stare at each other.

“Well, you seem like the kind of girl that has this whole vocal chords ritual, a voice freak if you will…” He states, putting the cigarette back to his mouth. “Kinda like Archie does.” The tension vanishes with the sound of her laughter.

“I actually kinda have a vocal chords ritual but I do indulge in a cigarette every now and then.” Betty answers with a smile.

“Such a rebel.”

“So… how long have you known Archie?” she asks, not looking at him.

“Since we were little kids. Our parents were friends.” Jughead replies, used to this question.

“Wow, that must be cool. Growing up and then touring with your friend.” Betty sighs. “I’m really glad I got this gig, to be honest. I can’t believe this is really happening, I’ve been a fan of Archie for a while but I sent the supporting act request on a whim. Veronica talked my ear off for two days before I actually sent it, I had no expectations at all.”

“Well… you’re really good. You deserve it.” He simply says, not knowing how to answer, his stomach twisting a little.

“To be completely honest, this feels a little like a dream… being in his house, being here with you, your bandmates. I can’t believe I’m going on tour with the dude that makes me cry with his songs sometimes.” Betty says, chuckling self-deprecatingly.

“What?” Jughead asks, a little dumbfounded, her words running through his head.

“Yeah, I know. It’s a little silly, I guess, but the first time I heard Ode to sleep I cried like a baby.” Betty tells him, smiling shyly. “Don’t tell him that, It’s a little embarrassing. But it hit me so hard…”

Jughead’s heart is beating wildly in his chest, he tries to look nonchalant but inside it feels like a cocktail of various emotions spilled on his brain. His stomach twists painfully as he listens to her go on and on about the amazingly written metaphors and exceptional narration of a story in just one song. He feels sick, his headache is back.

“Yeah… he’s great.” Jughead answers when he realises Betty’s looking at him like she’s expecting a reply. “Hey, do you mind if we go back inside?”

“Sure…” Betty looks a little surprised, but they head back to the party where she’s called by Veronica as soon as they step inside the living room.

The sick feeling stays with Jughead the rest of the evening, making him quieter as his friends talk. Thankfully, nobody seems to notice he isn’t really laughing along like he was before. He waves the group goodbye from the sofa as they head to the door, sighing in relief as soon as the door closes.

“Okay, spill.” Archie says, coming to sit beside him.

“What?” Jughead asks, frowning at him.

“Don’t look at me like that. Other might not know you so well, but I actually can tell when something happens to you. It’s my superpower.” His friend says, grinning at him, proud of himself. Jughead chuckles before sighing.

“It’s nothing important.” He looks down at his hands for a moment. “She told me that the first time she listened to Ode to sleep she cried.”

“Dude, that’s awesome!” Archie says, turning to face Jughead fully, arm on the back of the sofa as he smiles.

“Yeah… she also told me not to tell you because it might be embarrassing because she was such a big fan of you and your lyrics.” Jughead’s voice drips with a bitterness he wasn’t expecting, it makes him frown.

“Jug… she doesn’t know.” Archie says softly. “Nobody knows.”

“Valerie, Cheryl, Melody and a bunch of other people do…” He tries, knowing he sounds like a child.

“It doesn’t count if they’re co-workers, man…” Archie tells him, hand on his shoulder. “You don’t let anyone know.”

“Yeah, I know…” Jughead sighs, rubbing his face with his hands. “It just… the way she spoke about the songs, man… you should’ve listened to her. It was like there were something precious.”

“They are, Jughead, they truly are. You know…” Archie starts. “We’ve talked about this, all you gotta say is tell me and we’ll change it. People should know you’re the writer of these amazing songs…”

“I know.” Jughead stops his friend, suddenly feeling more tired than he’s felt in weeks. “It’s okay. I don’t need that, it was just… a moment, you know? I’m happy with the way things are. Besides you’re the jock of this relationship, you’re the only built for fame, my friend…”

“Jug…” Archie starts as Jughead gets up from the sofa.

“I’m going to bed, pal. I’m just really tired. Everything is okay, I swear. We’re okay, forget I said anything.” Jughead tries, eyes silently pleading his friend to drop the subject.

“Sure.” Archie says even though he doesn’t sound sure at all.

Jughead walks down the hall to the guest bedroom that’s more his than for guests and closes the door behind him before taking his clothes off and falling into bed.

He knows Archie is trying to talk to him. He’s been trying to talk to him for years now, since they started this whole music career and Jughead refused to let people know he was the intellectual owner of most of their songs. He’s painfully aware of the way insecurity played a role on that decision, but he also wanted to make music without the pressure of the fame.

Jughead was comfortable as the sidekick, comfortable being the bassist of the grand Archie Andrews. In the intimacy, they knew they were a band, but for the public Archie was a solo artist that had the graciousness of taking his best-friend as his bassist. But Jughead thought he got the best of both worlds... going on tours, writing, playing music and all that without the pressure of the fame, the interviews and photoshoots he saw his friend go through daily.

The way Betty had spoken of his song brought something he had spent his whole life repressing… the desire to be seen. All his life he had taken the role as an observer.  Observing as Archie grew popular in high school, observing how people looked at Archie and really believe that he could be the next big artist. Being the observer kept him safe . He knew what it was like and wore that as a comforting second skin. Sometimes, though, like tonight… he craved the “spotlight”.

There was a moment when he had to restrain himself from telling her the truth. That’s me! I did that! That’s mine! Those are my words!... He chuckles bitterly at the idea now, how naive. At this point, he doesn’t think anyone would believe him if he went and said he wrote most of Archie’s songs. Hell, sometimes he isn’t even sure. Not that he would ever try it. Too risky, he thinks.

Feeling weirdly defeated and extremely tired, Jughead closes his eyes.

He dreams of green eyes and disappointed glances.

After not needing therapy in years, Touka returns to the 'Lighthouse' to seek help after the loss of the two people who meant the most to her, but the past isn't something she can easily bury, it's still alive and breathing, always around.

“It's a surprise to see you again, Mrs. Kaneki… Or would you prefer it if I would call you by your maiden name?”, the man leaned back and took another look at his notes, “The last time you came here you were only 19 years old, we talked about your father back then, didn't we? … I would love to say it's good to see you again, but nobody ever comes here because they only want to chat.”

Touka felt a stinging pain in her chest and a sinking feeling in her stomach, he was right. The lighthouse wasn't a place anyone would go because they were happy and content with their life, they came here to seek help, “I hope we won't have to perform any of your tests this time…” 8 years have passed since she had last seen him, he aged well, there was no denying that he was an attractive man… he also seemed to have overcome his negative stance when it came to marriage, judging by the small platinum ring on his finger.

At least one thing they had in common.

“I don't think it's necessary this time, you'll be honest with me from the start, won't you? It seems as if you know exactly why you're coming here again, so tell me all about it,” he checked the small recorder that was lying on top of the desk that was sitting between them again, “So?”

“It's because of my husband,” she looked up, seemingly uncomfortable as months ago it was a topic she enjoyed bringing up in conversations but now it made her feel sick in her stomach, “You see… I suppose you read the newspapers and know the TV reports -”

“Miss Kirishima… please. It won't help either of us if you want me to play guessing games, I need your version of the story or I won't be able to help you.”

He was right, of course he was because in the end he was only doing his job, “I met him shortly after we ended therapy… it was… at first I didn't know what to think of him. Ken was so shy, always hiding behind his books, I wouldn't even dare to think of him as a man of his profession. He's a detective…”

It seemed as if Dr. Marude was still seemingly unimpressed, he knew that she was just hedging but you couldn't start a story in the middle just because it was convenient for the listener, “... but I gave it a chance, I just had a good feeling about it, about him.”

A small smile formed on her lips, she gazed out of the window, almost as if she wanted to forget why she was talking about him in first place, “You said I should let go of the old pain… start over new, bury whatever remained of my father and I did. For the first time in my life I felt free and this freedom meant loving Ken and I… I still do.”

What followed was a long pause, she felt choked up. Saying these words meant admitting that she knew that something was going horribly wrong, it meant giving into reality and waking up from a pleasant dream, “Everything went downhill when he decided to chase down this serial killer, I told him I don't want him to but he was so incredibly persistent, putting his job above everything else and… who am I to stop him? I didn't want our relationship to be ruined because of something I regarded as trivial…”

“Trivial…?”, she was still as naive as she was 8 years ago. Who would call things like that trivial? After all she was talking about a serial killer. Despite him saying he needed her side of the story, he of course knew the details. It was a sad story, it had been all over the news for months and only ended when two more lives were taken, one of them was Miss Kirishima’s husband.

“I thought it would be over quickly, you know like all the things you see on TV but when this child got abducted it felt as if reality started to crumble, everything was falling apart. You know, the victims he picked used to be random but one thing they had in common were that it were always adults. During the time that Ken took the case… before it even… we talked about raising a child together, we were ready but then he killed this child as if he were to mock Ken… as if he was saying, hey look, I know what you think, I can destroy your happiness before it even formed!”

At this point she felt her hands shake and her eyes water, he let her cry, he always did. She was his last patient for the day, as usual, so it didn't matter that they took longer. Not longer than needed, he was professional after all he had to be, but that didn't mean he was heartless.

“And so he abducted 4 children. 3 died. The fourth survived because Ken gave his life to protect it… whatever happened that day… they took it to their graves. The little girl died of shock later on… but is it cruel of me to say I am glad she did? I mean, whatever it was that she saw must have been horrible… whatever he put her through.”

Silence spread through the room, what was there more to say? This wasn't the last time she'd come here, Touka was certain of it and so was Dr. Marude. They quietly watched the sun set.

“Congratulations on the marriage, Itsuki,” weren't they friends by now? After hours and hours she spent here opening up to him, after all the times he watched her cry. They trusted each other, he cared about her, it wasn’t like he ever said it but his words and actions were enough for her to know it.

“Thank you, Touka,” a wide smile formed on his lips, how unusual… but not unpleasant, he looked so kind, “It was… surprising, even for me. My husband and I were friends for ages, one day he just proposed to me. “I think that’s enough for today, you need rest. Souta is still at the reception, you can make another appointment, we’ll leave after you so take your time.” They both stood up and Touka felt her legs shake, she was slowly walking to the door before she turned around one last time. Itsuki looked at her, anticipating what she had to say.

“Thank you.”

The drive back home was empty, black. A void. What was everyone else doing right now? Her uncle started dating one of Ken’s nurses, he always spent so much time by his side and then they met, he was younger than Renji, a very energetic but nice person. They did what they could for Ken… a wound to the head was such a delicate and sensitive thing. She didn’t blame them for what happened to her husband, after all they did what they can and she was more than just grateful for that.

There were no lights burning in the house, why would they even? She was alone now, maybe she should just eat something and then go to bed. When she was still a married woman, she spent a lot of time just lying on the sofa, waiting for her husband to come back home after a long shift at work. They’d eat dinner together, laugh and chat.

She used to be a teacher, she loved children… now she couldn’t stand being around them anymore. Everytime she saw one it reminded her of what happened 3 years ago, she felt empty and numb, there was no way that she could continue her work when she couldn’t stand being around something she used to love so dearly.

Her hands searched for the light switch in the dark, when she found it the bright and cold light burned in her eyes, made her tear up. That’s what she told herself to say the least, it was easier to pretend that she didn’t cry because of the pain in her chest. This place used to be a home, a happy place she couldn’t wait to return to, now it was nothing more but… functional. It wasn’t warm, it wasn’t welcoming.

Back then she still put effort into the meals she prepared, now all she wanted was something fast that filled her stomach at least for a little while. The noises she made seemed to have caught his attention and she cursed under her breath.

“Is something wrong, Touka?” He smiled at her, a little shy and a little nervous. He never liked it when people got angry and the worst was that he always knew when something was off.

“No… no it’s okay, Haise, I just burned my hand on hot china that’s all.” Instead of facing him she just stared at her meal. She hated looking at him, she didn’t want to look at him at all.

“Oh… please be more careful next time. I… uhm… I'll go back to bed then, good night,” did he do something bad? For some reason she was always distant when she was around him, other times there was this sadness in her eyes when she looked at him, this desperation, like she wanted to tell him something badly but didn’t know how. But they only just met a few months ago… what was there that she wanted to tell him? He was paying his rent, he wasn’t loud, but maybe she needed the house for herself now.

Haise wouldn’t mind if she did, he’d leave and find a new place to live, maybe she found someone she wanted to live with. It was odd, there were picture frames filling the house but they were all empty, he heard that Touka’s husband had died but still leaving empty picture frames in their old places wasn’t something people usually did.

Ah, he shouldn’t judge her, he couldn’t even imagine how it must feel to lose someone one loved so dearly and be certain they would never come back.

Just one bite, she wanted to eat just one bite but after seeing him it was hard. Should she call him…? Her hands were shaking as she pulled her phone out of her pocket, she was shaking, crying. It took a while until he picked up, he sounded surprised.

“Touka? Touka what’s wrong?”

“…,” she slowly slid down the counter until her body slowly collapsed on the kitchen floor, “I can’t do this anymore… I can’t stand being in this house anymore… uncle I don’t want to be around him…”

“... do you want me to take him in? We wouldn’t mind, the house is two big for two people and a cat anyway.”

“No, I can’t put my burden on you…,” Touka sniffled and sat up, “I did this to myself, I can’t just back out of it now… right?” Not that she wanted to abandon Haise, she knew that there was no where he could go and nobody he could ask for help, as much as she hated it, she was all that he had.

“We can take him in for a few days if you want, take him on a trip or something…”

“Thank you uncle… but… I think I’d miss him too much,” the young woman laughed bitterly and rubbed over her belly, “Can I call you back later? I need to eat something.”

“Of course you do, take care okay? I love you.”

“I love you too, thank you… tell uncle Itou I said hi,” her food was already cold but she didn’t mind, it was bland, tasted like nothing but texture. While she ate she choked and coughed, this was bad, so bad… it reminded her of the times when her family of 3 was still okay… when they were still okay…

Jeno- Too Late

Group: NCT- Jeno

Theme: Request- you + Jeno are best friends and u like him but before u can confess, he dates someone else and realizes that he’s in love with the reader  

Type: one shot- angst

Plot: A simple afternoon hanging out with your best friend, Jeno, turned out to be a heartbreaking one done unintentionally as he told you about his crush, not aware of your feelings for him. A few months later as you try to move on, he realizes that he feels something for you but when he tries to make things ok, do you comply easily or suppress it?

“Haha today was crazy! That sub did not care at all, the class was wild. Man wait til Ms. Emery hears about this when that one kid snitches on us, omg did you see his face? He looked as if he watched a family get slaughtered or something, omg today was an actually a fun day at school. How often do you hear me saying somethin’ good about school?” you ask Jeno, gushing about your day at school.

“I know, did Y/N actually enjoy school today? Where's my Y/N who absolutely loathes school? I didn’t hear her talking about that one couple who’s always making out before math or how ‘shitty’ lunch was or how Mr. Piller assigned, and I quote, ‘literally 5 hours of bio homework’. Who are you and what have you done to my best friend?” Jeno asks joking, stopping to look directly in your eyes with his hands behind his back.

You scoff as you shove him lightly, “Don’t think you’re being a lil too extra? Let me just enjoy this day,” you say simply as you stretch out your arms to the air, embracing the sunlight.

Jeno just replies with a chuckle and asks you, “Hey do you want an ice cream cone?”

“Yes? Why you still gotta ask me, you know I’m always down for ice cream,” you reply.

He just smiles to himself and buys you a cone from a ice cream vendor and joins you to continue the walk to the park you two always go to hang out by after school. You enjoy your vanilla cone contently without a word to Jeno as you think out how you want to confess to him. Yea, sure you knew this was a cliché, a best friend falling in love with their best friend. What you didn’t know or expect were the following words from Jeno’s mouth.

“You know Grace right? I really like her and I was planning on asking her out tomorrow,” Jeno says super casually as he continues to finish off his cone.

Your heart drops to your stomach and you stare at Jeno with your jaw dropped down in shock. You quickly recover and shout, “WHAT! JENO! HOW COME YOU NEVER TOLD ME YOU HAVE A CRUSH ON GRACE AND SINCE WHEN HAVE YOU BEEN SO BRAVE? AM I NOT YOUR BEST FRIEND, WHY ARE YOU TELLING ME THIS NOW THE DAY BEFORE YOU ARE GUNNA FREAKIN ASK HER OUT?”

He starts to laugh, oblivious to the fact his laughter sounds and replays in your head everytime you go back to this memory. “You see I wanted to tell you this sooner but I wasn’t sure how I really felt about her but now after talking to her a lot, I realized that I really like her and stuff. She’s really nice, has a nice smile, and she reminds me a lot of you in a strange way and I donnu how I feel about that but-”

His words blend together as you stop listening to what he had to say about Grace and tried to not let your eyes well up with tears. Your eyes were burning because they desperately needed relief but you denied them. ‘Not now, not in front of Jeno,’ you think to yourself.

“Y/N? Y/N?” Jeno asks concernedly as he waves his hand in front of you.

You snap out and widen your eyes in shock, “Yea, sorry. I was just hurt you didn’t tell me sooner. Listen, I gotta go, I just remembered I got some stuff to do at home. But good luck for tomorrow, I’m sure she’ll say yes because you’re a great guy and you’ll never hurt her,” you force a sad smile. You hastily give him a hug and start to head off to your house, not giving him the chance to stop you and making a mental note to not come to this park for a long while.

The thought of Jeno being with somebody else is etched in you mind and all other thoughts of anything logical zones out to shine the spotlight on Jeno and that bitch Grace. Anger boils inside of you but sadness overcomes you. ‘Why, why her? Who the fuck even is she? She doesn’t know him like I do and she never will because if Jeno ever dares to talk about our memories with her then they will all just be a story to her but it will always remain a memory between because we fucking lived through it and that lil bitch will never get a taste of what that was like. Why is she so damn nice too, like I can’t even say she’s ugly ughhhhhh why? Fuck Jeno, I don't care, he can be with who he wants, I don't own him. If he never bothered to tell me about her before why should I pretend to care now? That explains why he’s been a lil distracted recently, I bet he doesn’t even think of how much he really means to me. Who knew such a sweet guy like him was capable of causing so much pain without even knowing it? All these years and now I decide to develop feelings for him when I can't have him. All these feelings only to go unrequited and shattered. Hmm well, I guess I better get used to it, damn this really hurts. Why does this is hurt so much, its not like he’ll ever know? Damn, I’m a mess... such a fuckin mess,’ you think as you slide down your front door and break down into your hands after you locking it.

5 and a half empty months later, you find 7 missed calls make their way back on your lock screen. And they were all from your ‘best friend’ who hasn’t bothered to call the past few months. You simply ignore them, just like how you were ignoring the feeling of longing you craved from him. Then there came the notification of a voicemail. Your heart dropped once more because you dreaded hearing his voice. The soft croak that he always has whenever he starts talking always gets you. But with lots of hesitation and a heavy heart, you unlock your phone and go to listen to his voicemail. Your thumb lingers over the button but you press it to reveal his message.

         “y/n, hey um its been a while and im sorry. i wanna meet you, th... there’s

         something i need to tell you in person. i know you always check your  

         voicemails and stuff so just meet me at the park after school tomorrow.

         ok um bye y/n, see you tomorrow,

                   i miss you”

A single tear fell but only at the muffled part where he said ‘i miss you’. His voice was so gruff and thick with emotion and you can imagine him speaking with a blank face on his face as he tries to distract himself by staring at something meaningless. You wiped your tear and wondered if you should really go or not.

‘What’s the worst that could happen? It’s not like he’s gunna be on his knees, crying, telling me that he loves me or somethin bizarre like that. I miss him too, I’ve known him for 5 years so these 5 months made me realize how much we’ve really been there for each other through practically everything but this. We’ve grown so much together, I wonder how much he’s changed without me by his side. Damn, I really miss him too..’

The school bell rings and you take your time to walk to the park. You’ve have never this nervous to meet up with him but then again you’ve never went a few days without seeing him in the past. The past few months have been really hard, it sucks when you lose a friend to their significant other and it sucks even more when its your best friend. You see him at school often but never interact for whatever odd reason but mostly because it just stung whenever you saw him. And it didn't help that you two had almost all of your friends in common so you would bump into him a lot, most of the time it was just pretty awkward.

When you arrive at the park, you saw Jeno sitting at your usual spot looking very distressed. Your heart sinks and you will yourself not to run up to him and hold him. Jeno looks up by hearing the sound of your feet scuffling and there was a certain look that replaced his cheery gleam in his eyes, this gleam seemed much more somber. A small smile stretches onto his face and he stands up to properly greet you.

“Y/N, you came,” he says quietly, almost to himself. “Hey, how have you been?”

“I’ve been ok, how ‘bout you? How’s Grace?,” you ask with a slight bitter tone.

He looks confused then his face starts to loosen up as he replies, “Oh yea, she’s ok I think. We broke up a while ago so I don’t really know. I don’t wanna talk about her, I wanna talk about us.”

“’Us’? I think that ‘us’ went away along with Grace because there hasn't been an ‘us’ in a long time Jeno,” you mutter softly, avoiding eye contact.

“I know and I’m really sorry about that. No one is ever worth me losing my best friend, the only one that has stuck with me through thick and thin, the only one that I can honestly confine in. Y/N, you have no idea how much you fuckin mean to me, I’ve been a complete mess without you. So much so that I realized that I love you. I always have, it’s just that I never knew if I was in love with our friendship or with you but it’s both. I feel so stupid to say ‘I love you’ at a time like this, I should be mending our friendship first instead of jumping straight into.. this. And I don’t even know if you even feel the same,” he mumbles, his voice faltering towards the end.

“I did. I loved you. But its too late now Jeno, I don't think I wanna pursue a relationship with you. I’m sorry, it just hurts too much. When... when you told me that you were gunna ask out Grace, I just went home wondering ‘why, why her?’ What did she have that I couldn't give you? And that’s the same day I wanted to tell you how I felt about you and I thought it would be a great day but oh, was I wrong. I donnu how I feel about an ‘us’ right now but I miss you and I need you. In those months I realized how much I needed you because you were always there then, suddenly you just weren’t there anymore. It just didn’t feel the same to pick up the phone and tell you that I’m over because I missed your cat. Nothing felt the same anymore, it felt as if somebody took a part of me that explained my very existence. Jeno, as much as I want to let you back in, how do I know you’re not gunna hurt me again because Jeno, I’m scared, I’m really scared,” your voice breaks as you shiver in the wind.

“Y/N,” he reaches out for your hands and falls on his knees with his buried in your hands. “Y/N, I’m so sorry I hurt you like that. I promise, I will never abandon you like that again. I don't know what I was thinking, I didn’t even like Grace honestly. I give you my word because I never wanna bare going 5 whole months without talking to my best friend, my favorite person in the world. I don't wanna lose my best friend for good, no one can ever take your place, ever. Y/N, forgive me I know I’ve must’ve hurt you a lot but I can proudly tell you that I love you even if you don’t feel the same because I just want you back, best friend or girl/boyfriend.”

You put your hand on his shoulder, kneel down, and put your finger beneath his chin to make his moist eyes meet yours. You place your hand on his check softly, as you begin, “Jeno, let’s take it one step at a time. Lemme be your best friend again then I’ll be your girl/boyfriend because as much as I was hurting, I don’t think I can ever ‘unlove’ you. I don't ever wanna risk losing you like that again, that was too scary and too close. But we’re here now, and we aren't going anywhere, well except to get ice cream because it was my turn.”

You smile gently as a tear fell down your face but you chuckle and ruffle Jeno’s hair makin him smile again, knowing that things were going back to normal.

*also its been a while since i wrote so i feel rusty lol and is it just me or does this scenario seem very similar to ‘one last time’

* also also this scenario hit kinda close to home bc I went through a very similar situation to this except i never got the happy ending haha bc like no body really goes down on their knees anymore lol
