I have many thoughts about Bridgerton.
Was it the perfect season? Absolutely no.
But it quite honestly is my favorite season so far because it made me realise how the enemies-to-lovers trope has rotten my brain when this is what I want to see. Gentle love, best friends becoming partners.
Things that I absolutely loved this season:
-Pen's arc: In the book she gives up whistledown to become a romance author which is nice, but now we have a legitimate journalist in the house who has proved her accuracy at such a young age. People who are worried about how she's gonna get her info now that people are guarded? Um her main sources were always the maids and footmen and she is observant enough to run a column. Plus now that everyone knows who she is, people might anonymously send her reports (as happens in journalism) which gives her SO MUCH POWER. I am a journalist and I can't stress enough how incredible that is. I know book fans expected the last speech by Colin but imo her taking full control of her decisions and willingness to face the consequences makes it so much better.
-Eloise and Pen patch up: Both of them going to each other for comfort and support when the shit hit the fan made my heart warm. When Eloise comes back, I hope she knows herself a bit better and actually brings her grand ideas to reality.
-Benedict going about his viscount duties in absence of Anthony without the rage of responsibility whilst discovering his sexuality 10/10. Man was also fully involved in all of his siblings feuds, mainly whatever the fuck Gregory and Hyacinth were upto. CUTE. Actually shoutout to all the Bridgertons, they were so perfectly chaotic.
-THe FEATHERINGTONS OMG: I am the youngest daughter of my family as well as the black sheep- so unpredictable, unconventional that no one in my family gets me. That's why I relate to Pen so much and I'll defend her to death. To see the sisters and Portia realise Pen's worth made me sob. Phillipa saying I hope my daughter becomes a writer? Cherry on cake. But Portia opening up to Pen and being vulnerable and proud at the same time was so bloody well done.
-Polin: Fans being livid about the lack of spice in part 2 (minus the incredible sex scene in ep 5) is understandable but I blame the marketing for it, not the showrunners. Over the course of part 1, we saw Colin's relationship with intimacy change drastically. His want for connection becomes a necessity and if they just jumped into angry sex without actually resolving anything, it would have ruined his character development. I think it's the incredible chemistry between Nic and Luke in general and the heavy emphasis on the horniness during the press tour left the fans understandably wanting for more. But in general, their romance felt quite authentic. The Pride and Prejudice 'dancing in the room alone' callback, goofing around in the church, Colin coming to terms with what Whistledown meant to the ton and himself, Penelope's newfound confidence thanks to Colin's frequent words of affirmation, it was all good.
Things I would change to make this season better (this is turning into a full article now but read ahead if you have been here so far):
-The bloody editing: Pardon my french but why the fuck Benedict's prolonged threesome scenes not edited out? He has a whole season coming up so I don't understand so much focus on that weirdly edited scene amidst the drama. Just one shot of establishing his pansexuality (or bi but I am hoping it's pan) would have been enough? I love Ben, he is my favorite brother but this gave me the ick. To think these 3-4 minutes could have been used to extend the last Polin intimate scene. We could have had a good 5 minutes of Pen topping Colin after the BIG REVEAL but noooo. Even the subplots should have been kept short and sweet. Unlike some fans, I am not completely against the inclusion of the Mondrich family, Cressida's back story, the build up to Benedict's and Fran's actual stories, and more. But I believe too much footage was given to these even though the show clearly focuses on one couple per season. Get your shit together Shonda, this is not 20 episode Grey's anatomy, we can't focus on EVERYONE.
-Colin's anger after the wedding: Now I understand why he didn't want to have the wedding night given the stressful circumstances but him being angry till Francesca's wedding made no sense. How I would have written the resolution would have been something like this- In the hours before Rae leaves the house at night, Colin would have been reading the letters, figuring out how Pen is so whistledown at core (like he actually does the very next day but in absence of Pen). And instead of coming into the room to get a blanket, he could have brought in his own manuscript, asking her to read it as promised and taking up her offer to let her edit. This scene was literally in the book and was so easy to adapt. I would give my left kidney to see Colin sitting near Penelope, watching her powerful writing in action. Again, no spice required, just this. This would have made Pen's 'just love me' speech to Colin so good, but alas!
-Cressida: This is the arc I am most pissed off about. Eloise's reconciliation with Pen was great but completely abandoning Cressida to misery was so outta pocket. I realise Eloise is still not a fully realised character and is barely 20 (she's just a girl) but she was always kind. If I was writing Cressida's arc, I would have had Eloise come to her rescue at the end by borrowing some money from Pen and helping Cressida escape to Vienna or better Scotland. I highly doubt Pen would have minded if she knew how similar both of their circumstances were. I detested Cressida in the books because I'll be honest the books were pretty two dimensional with no real character development and just grand gestures (I'll understand if you come for me but this is how I feel, sorry). But the show made me care for her and I wished she could have found some happiness in life.
Overall, I'll rewatch it because the tiny details were so good this season I believe I can relish those till the next season. And I'll miss Polin immensely. But Shonda please, you can do better.

this may be controversial but i now more than ever believe that many stancy and even jancy shippers only see nancy as this heartbreaker teenage girl torn between two guys and that’s all there is to her as opposed to ronance shippers that see nancy for the incredible, badass, and intricate character that she is. we respect her as a human being OUTSIDE of being in a relationship and in fic and headcanons try to give her the character development that we believe she deserves because she has so much more potential than just being this arrogant unfaithful and impulsive girl that so many people in this fandom have labeled her as. sure we would love to see her be in a relationship with robin but at least we can respect her decision if she wanted to be the independent baddie she is and deserves to be.
go check out my part 2 to this post

You breathe in heavily as you step into the park, it's almost 2 pm, time to meet up with Aizawa and little Eri. You are understandably a nervous wreck and the butterflies in your stomach are refusing to settle.
You'll be seeing him again today, a second date? That's perhaps not the idea behind it but you still can't help feeling excited.
He has invited you to meet his daughter, so you must be at least a little special to him right?
You're getting closer to the big oak tree you agreed to meet up under, and sure enough, there he is standing there while the sun rays are seeping through the leafs and reflecting on his beautiful raven locks.
Your eyes move to the cute little girl facing him, all smiles illuminating her pretty face while she nibbles on a sweet looking candy apple.
Your heart softens at the sight of them together, his face is relaxed and his eyes are filled with love as he pats her head and tucks a loose strand behind her ear.
_ "Good afternoon," you greet them excitedly as soon as you reach the majestic tree where they're standing, "I'm sorry for keeping you waiting."
_ "Hi, no not at all, we just got here ourselves," he reassures you while smiling back, "there is someone I want you to meet." he looks at Eri and nods encouragingly while giving her small back a gentle push toward you.
The little girl's eyes move between her father and yourself and a bright pink blush appears on her face, you can tell she's probably as nervous about meeting you as you are her, but she's trying to gather up her grit and speak despite all.
_ "Hi Eri, I'm so glad to meet you and I hope you're doing well." you try to help the little angel as you bend down to her level and speak to her first.
_"Hi, nice to meet you too, I'm Eri." she bows cutely and you almost squeal hearing her sweet voice.
Aizawa is standing on the side, a smile on his face as he watches you interacting together, but says nothing, he's just relishing the sight of you getting to know one another so he gives you time.
The little one warms up to you instantly, and soon, her cute smile returns as she keeps talking to you.
You wholeheartedly answer all her curious questions and coax her into asking you more, you're simply happy things aren't awkward between you as you feared they would be.
She's a sweetheart who has touched your heart the moment you saw her, and the longer time you spend with her, the more attached you become.
_ "Girls, how about we buy some snacks and go for a walk?" Aizawa interrupts your conversation and you both turn to look at him with an enthusiastic "yes" that warms up his heart.
You take in a breath of the fresh air caressing your skin as you walk side by side with him, your eyes are fixed on the little angel who's just a few feet ahead, skipping and laughing and enjoying the warmth of the sun, and then you feel it, the back of his hand brushing against yours and you immediately tense up thinking it might have been accidental, but all your doubts and uncertainties vanish at once when he gently holds your hand and brings it to his lips.
_ "I'm happy you and Eri are getting along, she seems to really like you." he tilts his head your way and chuckles at your stunned expression.
_ "I'm.. I'm really happy too, she's a wonderful girl and I already love her." you squeeze his hand as you declare shyly.
The day is going perfectly, sharing laughter under the warm sun and fresh breeze, playing silly games with Eri while Aizawa takes commemorative pictures of you both, relishing her sweet stories about school and friends, telling her about your job and teaching her about the different types of flowers around you while watching them move in rhyme with the zephyr, and it is just true happiness that you didn't know existed.
_ "So tell me Eri, what do you like to do for fun?" you plop down on the freshly cut grass and wait for Aizawa to join you.
_ "This!" she twirls in delight while pointing at everything around.
_ "She enjoys being outside in green spaces," Aizawa chuckles as he explains his daughter's lively response, taking a seat by your side before carrying on, "she's a shy girl and dislikes crowded places, but she always has a great time when we visit here." he extends his arm for Eri to take and fall into his lap with an enthusiastic squeal.
You stay quiet after that, loving gazes and a warm smile adorning your face as you watch their happy little family, but all of a sudden, a pang in your heart shakes you to the core, and you start wondering how is it possible for a mother to abandon her child for years without even looking back?
It hurts you to think about it, that Eri is growing up without her parent, it must be hard for her, she must feel in need for her mother at least occasionally..
_ "Daddy! What are we having for dinner?"
_ "Whatever you want princess."
_ "Really?! Awesome! Then how about beef udon?"
_ "Is that what you want?"
_ "Yes!"
_ "You got it cutie, beef udon it is."
_ "Yay! You're the best!"
No, you were wrong, so wrong actually, because it's fine, totally fine, Eri might not have a mother around anymore, but she still has the best father in the world.
_ "She will be fine.." you mumble to yourself as you witness their shared hug.
Aizawa is capable of replacing the void her mother created, he is an admirable man, the most amazing one to you.
_ "Come here." he suddenly pulls you towards himself, wrapping his free arm around you and squeezing you both to his chest.
There is no other place you would rather be but here, like this in his arms, with Eri's angelic laughter filling the air.
Is this what true happiness look like?
It must be.
To be continued..

Ordem Paranormal Quarantena fucking knocked it out of the park it was insane Im grappling with so much I'm so insanely tired
There was a funny bit I was thinking of around the whole second bit where I was going Carol you hallmark protagonist fuck
Because first of all her name. that was the main part it's on the same level as Noel and Nick and Holly but there were also certain aspects of her character that in my delirious mind reminded me of the hypocrisy and drama of the typical independent business lady in a christmas movie as well as the I-can-do-no-wrong mindset of a romantic fantasy shoujo romance protagonist
And I thought. Man. There was a very clear path this story couldve taken with these characters and setting if it were not roleplay.
(note: not talking about the ccs or the actual characters but the Tropes the characters fall into and Could've been in generic science fiction horror)
A plucky new scientist with dreams to make a difference in an evil monster-ridden world and prove her skills despite being underestimated and looked down on by her friends and colleagues, and her direct senior with whom she has a negative relationship with due to his demonstrated lack of practical skill but mysterious higher connections to the board and therefore is ranked higher while she falls behind. She has moments of butting heads with him before the disaster breaks out in the facility and she has to struggle to stay alive and hidden until she's rescued by that same suddenly impressive senior with whom there's multiple tight spaces to be stuck with and convenient makeovers and sudden cold they have to share body warmth for. It's overWhelmingly easy to guess the plot
The plot in which None of the gang are mentioned. Because in this hypothetical B-list horror romance, they don't exist as people, but plot devices and tropes
They're there to provide funny moments and emotional weight as well as conflict to the overdone plot.
You have Luis, tank, everyman strongman with a soft heart and unclear but dangerous living conditions (poor). Probably the backup boyfriend in case the thing with Mikael doesn't work out, ends up sacrificing his life to save her due to some completely preventable situation cause she was too stubborn to listen, and gets a future project (maybe even a baby) named after him.
You have Jeffrey, funnyman, scapegoat, coward with zero friends and terrible priorities, multiple jobs (poor). Kind of useless, constantly infuriating and taking up space and meddling with things he doesn't know Anything about when she could've made a solution if he'd handed it over and dies to the zombies for the crime of irritating our protag.
Diego, hippie allegory, lives out of his backpack he literally calls his home, his life (poor) and has herbs (weedhead) that she'd try to be Fixing and eventually succeed in 'reforming' and sending him back to school due to her natural disposition in helping those in need.
You have Lucie, finally another girl, unfortunately in both horror and tropey romance, we Hate any other woman besides our all-powerful and beloved protagonist, so she's the nerd archetype but not the cute, efficient way our protag is nerdy but in the weirdo unnecessarily jargon-filled and Unappealing (unattractive) way. She dies the same way in the movie.
Benito was Made to be hated. It's the sly evil smirk and sunglasses and a beanie with the unprofessional labcoat and talking about things he doesn't understand like he does and taking her accomplishments and mocking her life as a scientist fighting to save the world and how he always seems to be looking down at her and definitely wouldve been the one to hide an infection and endanger the group he's the character whose death you're Meant to starting cheering for when he's dragged kicking and screaming onto the rusty laden, jagged roof and played with and pounced on till his insides squeeze out of him like toothpaste
Mattias was there so our protagonist could have her badass "I'm not like you I won't take a life because you're a coward" speech before he turns and nearly gets the group
Emi and Anderson were there so we could have a real man-to-man fatherly conversation about what it means to protect the ones you love and to pass on the torch as 'Leader' before he succumbs to the virus and begs to die before he hurts his girl, and so they could have wholesome pseudo-parenthood with a confused but reasonable child who absolutely understands that they're doing the right thing because they're the good guys and calls Carol mom when she's in danger near the end
It could've been a zombie survival plot about two arguably well-off individuals facing the consequences of a project they still believe could change the world and their tag-along group of meatshields to throw at the problem until their glorious melancholy escape where they're hailed as heroes for containing and eventually completing their groundbreaking research
and a horrific experience for a group of people who just wanted to make an easy few bucks till the next paycheck. They could've split those 50 dolalrs and jumped each other in the parking lot they didn't need to go through all that
Carol is driven, she's serious, she's ambitious and believes in the good that her research (the team's research) will bring and she's surrounded by people who don't understand that they're the good guys and are trying to find fault in her So she's willing to make sacrifices so she's willing to take it upon herself to decide who the team needs more she doesn't care if she dies as long as the world knows she saved it she needs to hear anything and everything people say in case it's about her or something she might care about it she's got braided hair and easily breakable glasses
Mikael is keeping things to himself to preserve his level of control over the situation because who knows what these guys are really like and he Saved them by telling them everything they need to know and they repay him by chopping his arm off? they're ungrateful and unserious So he kept himself safe while they had numbers and clues on their side They Managed Didn't They? Aren't they alive right now? they don't understand how important it is that he lives no one understands how important it is that Nidere lives he's got stylish curly hair and a fitted turtleneck
They both have a need to be heroes in a sense, to matter in the grand scheme of things they need to be at the forefront they need to be the ones who saved Everyone. Everybody is Only Alive because of THEM.
It's just really fascinating to me how. A different perspective of things kind of switches their roles as protagonists and cannon fodder

“If it’s not much of a trouble, then, I’d like to stay with you ~”
Law nods, calmly. However, his calm doesn’t last much longer. When he finally understands what you have just told him, he widens his eyes.
“You- you wanna come home, (Name)-ya?” he asks, almost stuttering. It’s pretty cute to see a man that looks so tough blushing.
“Heh… yes. I trust you, Law. If it’s an inconvenience though, I can go back to my hotel…” you murmur, you don’t really want to keep abusing of his help.
Law stands up, brushing his white coat with his hands and denies with his head.
“No. You can come with me. It’s better if someone keeps you company tonight”
You bite the inner side of your mouth. And perhaps you feel a little guilty… why are you so happy to hear he is going to take you home? You should be scared; still trembling for what happened before. But you simply can’t; Law’s aura transmits you a peace, you never knew you could feel.
Twenty minutes after, and a lot of awkward silences in between the doctor and you, a nurse called Vivi announces a police officer has come to talk to you.
You swallow. You are absolutely scared. Why is he here?
“Excuse me, I’m officer Roronoa Zoro. I’m here to make you a few questions about the incident, miss. If you don’t feel like answering tonight I can come back tom-“ a green haired officer, tall and with a wide chest, says. He has one eye closed, and a sharp mandible.
You don’t mind answering questions. However, you are not sure if you remember much about the incident.
“Of course, I can answer. Please go ahead” you nod, smiling shily. The officer could look intimidating, but you are right next to Law. You feel safe.
Law stands up and stretches his hand to the policeman. “I’m Dr. Trafalgar Law; I was there during the incident. I was the one who stopped that criminal from landing a hand on her. Is he already in jail, officer Roronoa?” he asks, with a much more stronger tone. Law is pissed about the situation still. The less he wanna listen now is how that bastard has been freed from jail.
Officer Roronoa nods with his eyes closed; “So you are Dr. Trafalgar. Nice to meet you. He is in jail. He wanted to press charges against you for the punch and the camera, but I suggested him not to do it…” he murmurs, giving you the impression, he condones a 100% Law’s actions.
You take your hand to your mouth. Law could get into a legal problem because of you?
“No, in any case tell him to press charges against me! I don’t mind I-“ you chime, desperately trying to avoid any inconvenience to your hero. But Law puts his tattooed hand over your shoulder.
“(Name)-ya, don’t worry. He won’t even have time to press any charge. Officer, I have a lab report with the confirmation he drugged her. Here” Law manages the situation like a professional but also like someone who deeply cares for you.
Soon, the proves are given and with not many more questions, Officer Roronoa leaves assuring you that nothing like that would ever happen to you again.
You trust in him. Not everybody is bad. Zoro, Law, Bepo, his friends, Dr. Robin, Nurse Vivi. All of them have been good to you. All of them have helped you out.
A few hours pass, and with them the night become almost dawn. The weekend is just starting, but outside the streets seem a little empty. You watch Law call someone, but you can’t hear him as you are waiting inside, behind the doors of the hospital.
Is cold. You can see steam coming from Law’s lips, and the glass windows of the main hall getting a little fogged. He is wearing a long black coat, and you, still your princess cosplay.
“(Name)-ya, wait here I will bring the car” he says, peeping through the sliding doors. You nod, hugging yourself with your arms.
Soon, Law’s SUV appears right by the entrance, and you begin to walk towards the exit waving at the staff with love. You make a mental note to come back tomorrow with something to eat for them, you need to thank them.
As you walk without looking in front of you, you bump into someone. His arms, his scent… “L-Law… sorry. I- I thought you were waiting on the car” you mumble, still with your nose almost buried into his chest.
“I- (Name)-ya… I-. It’s cold outside, please use this” he says, taking off his coat and placing it on your shoulders in the most caring way possible. He touches you as if you were made of crystal.
You take a moment to look into his icy eyes. The bustle of the reception suddenly disappears and most of the people there enjoy the romantic moment you two are the protagonists of.
Law also gets momentarily lost into your eyes, his lips slightly separate and his pupils dilate notoriously. He squeezes your shoulders, ever so lightly, and barely manages to murmur a “let’s go”.
You slowly nod and your bodies separate. You hold to dear life to the sides of the coat he just gave you; it’s warm like his embrace. And it smells just like him; manly, musky and sweet.
He runs to the side of the car, just to open the door for you. And you giggle. He is such a gentleman. “Thank you…”
Law immediately looks at his feet. He is probably not good at taking compliments. Soon, he gets inside the van and checks if you have the seatbelt on.
You do. Is a matter of security. Even if you are right now going home with someone you really don’t know.
As he drives in total silence, and the radio plays a soft song you can’t recognize, you can see the sun rising through the rear-view mirror. It’s still too weak to be considered morning, but a new day is definitely starting…
Maybe, perhaps, like Law’s infatuation for you.
The soft lulling motions of Law’s driving, the scent of his coat, and the exhaustion finally hit your body. The cold surface of the window next to you welcomes your temple as you fell asleep.
Law checks up on you, almost constantly. He needs to know you are ok, even if the main reason for his eyes scanning you is how beautiful you look while sleeping in his car.
A red gleam coming from the traffic light bathes his and your profile. He sighs, squeezing the steering wheel. It’s been a long time since he took a girl home, but honestly this doesn’t feel right… or at least not for the right reasons. It shouldn’t be this way…
However, right before the red turn to green, he felt the need inside his heart, to protect you no matter what. Now, and since you allow him to do so.
Law, who for some moments got lost on your peaceful cycle of breathing, forgets about driving. He simply stopped paying attention at the traffic lights. And with it, the honking of some cars behind you, woke you up.
You open your eyes, scared. Yet, the first thing you noticed was that kind façade looking at you, mesmerized.
The doctor immediately shakes his head and focus back on driving. His cheeks become as red as tomatoes; his hands have a slight tremble, too.
“I- I’m sorry I fell asleep. Did you say something, Law?” you ask, shyly and sitting properly on the cars seat.
“N-No. We- we are about to arrive home” he says, avoiding at all costs any type of visual contact with you. And you can only giggle internally; then again, a guy that looks so tough, shows you to be the softest of all.
A few minutes later, he grabs a little controller from the glove box in front of your knees. He grazes your leg, and you notice the way his breathing seems to stop for some seconds. But he needs to focus, he needs to get home.
In front of you, a huge modern building of who knows how many floors. The door of the parking entrance opens in a very elegant way, and inside Law drives.
You take a look at the pretty expensive place in awe. Of course, Law is young, but he is probably an amazing surgeon. “How pretty” you whisper, squeezing your bag against your belly. “I have never been in this part of the city…”
Law looks at you, briefly. He gives you a soft smile and parks in the #715 spot. “I can show you the neighbourhood later” he murmurs, while taking the keys off the ignition. “We could go have lunch at one of my… friend’s restaurant” he says, pronouncing the word “friend” with difficulty.
You are pleased and excited to meet his friend’s diner, so you show it to him with a rather cute and childish nodding of your head. It causes in Law, as almost everything you do, a revolution. His cheeks become a little flushed again, but he tries his best to act normal.
Soon, he gets off the car and helps you stand up. “Here, let me help you. You might feel a little dizzy still. Is better if you take it easy” he says, pulling softly from your hand and grabbing your bag.  You feel fine, maybe a little blunt, but you can definitely walk on your own.
But even though Law can tell you can walk properly, he never lets go of your hand as you head down the elevators of the building. When the doors open, and the lights of an expensive looking lift hit your eyes, you indeed feel lightheaded and lose a little bit of balance.
But there he is, again, to support you. “Come here” he says, lifting you up from your legs in arms. You gasp; you can’t process how you are now not standing but resting on his arms once again.
“L-Law… i- it’s ok!” you jolt, grabbing to his shoulders. Your hero is pretty tall, so you are a few centimetres more off the ground than you would actually imagined.
“You could fall. The elevator is not safe” he says, taking some steps to get inside the lift.
You laugh, taking a look at how the mirrors around reflect some kind of a fairytale scenery. The princess being rescued by the tough knight. “You would look so good cosplaying Sora, the Warrior of the Sea” you chime, completely ignorant of how much that means to Law.
He presses the 7th floor button, and a smile invades his façade. Even if, in less than a few seconds, such beautiful smirk disappears.
“You like Sora, Law?” you ask, insisting on something you believe you two have in common. “I do. But… I don’t do cosplay. I’m too old for it” he spits, rather venomously and sounding a lot cocky.
You tilt your head to the side. You are sure both of you are around the same age. “Old? For cosplaying? Are you kidding me? When I was a teenager I couldn’t buy the materials to create good cosplays… it is now when you should do it! But… is your loss, I was gonna cosplay Sora’s wife…”
Law’s eyes shine bright. His ultimate fictional crush, was indeed Sora’s wife. And now he understands the similarities in between her and you. “You- I…” he stutters.
“Yes, you can come with me. Extra points if you cosplay Sora” you chime, happily.
The doors of the elevator open, showing an equally luxurious and sophisticated hall full of doors. Law has just been “saved by the bell”. And you, still on his arms, allow your heart to wonder to the meadows of fairy tales fantasies. Your knight, saving you from the evil dragon, taking you back to his palace.
“I can walk by myself, Law…” you giggle, seeing him struggle to open the door with you in arms and your bag hanging on the side.
“Do-Don’t worry” he says, finally unlocking the door and getting inside his apartment. As he walks in, you take a swift look at the place. Everything seems perfectly arranged, as if someone knew a girl was coming in.
Through the little hall that takes you to the living room, you notice a few photographs hanging on the wall. One with some children, another one with a couple of doctors and a girl and the other one a very young Law in the arms of a guy dressed as a clown.
Law finally deposits you in a black couch. “There, take your time before standing up. You want some tea?” he offers you, hanging your bag next to the door and heading to the kitchenette next to the living room.
“That would be great, yes!” you accept, taking a look at the balcony that shows the views of the city through a big glass door. “Law, your apartment is beautiful”
The doctor nods and proceeds to heat some water. He prepares the tea in silence, yet, quickly enough so that he doesn’t keep you waiting.
The warm beverage feels like heaven when you take a sip of it. Honestly, you needed it. However, you still feel uncomfortable as the cosplay begins to itch against your skin. But you don’t say anything; you have already taken a lot from Law.
But, Law, knows best… “(Name)-ya I don’t have any women’s clothing in here. But I can give you mine if you want. You can take a shower. I will show you the bathroom”
“Oh~. Yes, thank you” you bow, closing your eyes. You are, at this point, absolutely ashamed of how much he has helped you already.
Law’s lip curl a bit; his smirks aren’t big, and you can tell he isn’t used to smile.  “Wait a second, I will get everything ready” he says, walking towards a hall with only two doors. You can tell one is for his room, and the other for the bathroom.
You take that time alone to scan the place better. Your eyes land on the little bookshelf next to the door. In there, all the volumes of “Sora, The Warrior of the Sea” are perfectly arranged. Those and every possible character book. There also other manga and books. But what catches your attention the most, is a precious resin figure of Sora fighting against the Germa 66 soldiers.
“WOW” you exclaim, giving a simple fuck about that “take it easy” advice Law has given you, and running to the bookshelf. You inspect every detail of it, amazed and probably also thinking how much such work of art must have costed.
Of course, you forget about Law for quite some seconds, so, the moment he speaks it makes you jolt.
“(Name)-ya… I have clot-“
“AH JESUS CHRIST!” you jump scared, turning around with cheeks already on fire. “I’m sorry I was just taking a look at… this” you point to the figure, flashing a sweet smile towards him. For some reason you feel guilty for existing right now.
Law walks towards you with clothes and a fresh towel in his hands. His long legs only need a few steps to get closer to you, and you feel -or at least fantasize- as if he was coming to kiss you. Dreaming that way should be illegal…
“It’s ok. You can look at it then. Please, follow me” he says, almost whispering, and looking straight into your eyes. It almost sounded like an order… Why… so… sexy?!
You receive the clothes, and nod with a simple “ngh”. Following him, his tattooed hands open the door of his perfectly clean and arranged bathroom. Of course, he must be a freak of cleaning.
“Here, if you need anything you can ask me. Be careful with hot water, it could make your blood pressure go down suddenly, and you are unstable right now. Also, there is liquid soap there, and if you wanna take a long bath just use this.” he says, pointing at the buttons on his bathtub…
“A jacuzzi? Wow, fancy doctor” you chime, little by little your real self comes back as the drug effects finally seem to fade completely.
Law scoffs almost inaudibly. He probably likes you calling him doctor... “Heh, well… I will let you have some privacy. If you need something or feel dizzy, please call me. I’ll be on the kitchen” he says, walking away without looking at you directly, but doing so by the reflection of the mirror as he closes the door.
You sigh the moment he leaves. Every time his silver eyes fix on you, you feel like all the oxygen around is gone…
Taking a look in such mirror, you let your -ruined- cosplay fall to the ground. You notice the little bruises on your arms. Ones from the hands of that bastard, the others from the blood tests and iv access. A thing you had forgotten for some time while being next to Law, suddenly comes back like a painful memory of some hours ago. However, it feels so far in time. Law has made such experience better.
You open the tab, and in an instant sweet lukewarm water creates steam all around. It feels relaxing, and you even think of indulging on the jacuzzi function. But, it wouldn’t be fair. Law hasn’t slept yet; you couldn’t make him wait so much for you.
You suddenly remember you need to pick up your stuff from the hotel, as if, you were going to stay longer in Law’s house. You giggle, as the extremely hot water kisses your neck – something you shouldn’t do, and something you have absolutely ignored from Law-. “What am I thinking of? I should take an uber back to my hotel… I need to go back home by the end of the weekend…”
It certainly pains you. You don’t want to be away from these new people you just met. It’s true you don’t live pretty far away, but it is at least a three-hour long drive from Law’s home.
“I will… I will… mi… miss….” You stutter, feeling as if everything around begins to spin and your limbs become week.
A loud thump… and his voice, and the warm embrace now holding your wet and naked skin
ㅤㅤ ㅤ “(Name)-ya!”

Personally I find the chemistry between Luz and Hunter obvious and if the show was created even 5-10 years ago no one would have much of a problem with Hunter and Luz shippers. It would’ve been what everyone expected to be endgame. Sure, I love lumity, it’s a cute sapphic high school romance. But narratively, there’s a case to be made for lunter while lumity is more just to be cute. Plus Luz is bisexual so any argument about erasing her sexuality doesn’t make sense. Plus it’s not like fandom is on the same level as the actual tv show like if a group of people want to imagine Luz and Hunter dating that does absolutely nothing to take away from the canon sapphic romance! I don’t have anywhere I feel like I can express this without getting literalky DOGPILED by Twitter teenagers who think the end all be all of queer liberation is making cartoon teenagers kiss.
I somewhat heard that type of rant that I've been interested to discuss before.. But I think it's better if Hunter has been introduced first than Amity tho. To make Hunter as a Male Lead. Yet the romance plot of TOH didn't go on that route. Because (ugh, another straight couple in Disney)
Unfortunately, everything has been already set by arranging Willow and Hunter as a pair instead Hunter is compatible to be paired with Luz because, Luz is with Amity now and both had feelings for each other before Hunter came. So I can understand what they're trying to defend the sapphic canon ship because THEY NEED LGBTQA+ REP, so if there is a straight couple in their favorite cartoon/show, the fans will gone RIOT and they will forced to make the straight couple to stay friends or platonic then shove it to everyone's throats. But their annoyance of not wanting Luz (who is a CANON BI) had a chance to NON CANONICALLY be together with a GUY who has 10x potential chemistry than Lumity. (I also love Lumity too from enemies to friends to lovers). The thing is, Willow shows to become the heroine for Hunter yet still GoldenLuz/Lunter scenes has more sparks even tho they're jumping to make a side couple (Huntlow) alongside with Raine and Eda (Raeda).
And the biggest and shittiest agenda they've got in the TOH fandom is to make these two characters (Luz and Hunter) as sibling-coded into their dynamic which is a HEADCANON. But FOR THEM IT'S A FACT because of the quarrel, all that banter and starting to helping and protecting each other away from danger/harm. And yet they theorize that when we look at Lunter, it's like there are both young Philip and Caleb.
So the issue of Lunter is because the TOH fandom can easily took it down or banish the ideas and options about Luz and Hunter to become a non-canon ship especially boy x girl ships in general media where the main protagonist is a BISEXUAL/GAY/LESBIAN or part of the LGBT rep. Some of them are a bit oversensitive by the "non-canon" ships might be ruined their canon gay/sapphic ship. Like only you can ship this MC with their same gender and NOTHING ELSE. I tried to keep away from the shipping discourse because the majority wants Lunter to see as siblings, and then they will despise somebody in every fiber of their being who ships Luz and Hunter where they are both BI for each other. Like who are they to have a right to demand a person who just wanna ship without their validation? Toxic TOH fans ain't had a right to accuse somebody because they LIKE a ship that they DON'T like. Yet also the Lunter shippers didn't wish for Lunter to be canon as well. Because they can ship them without a problem canon or not-canon as long as they don't attack nor cause such any harm to others. Yet these antis has so many claims to prove that their ship Lunter is wrong and there's nothing to support of shipping them romantically. So they will non-stop accusing Lunter shippers based on their ship which i migt turned out to become 'problematic' by many.
Luz and her bisexuality is the purest rep where she likes and attracted to guys and girls. Yet when they keep telling to such people that it will erase her sapphic love between her and Amity if Luz is going to be with Hunter in the long run.. That doesn't mean Luz isn't Bisexual anymore. How can these people pushing the hatred towards Lunter where they haven't heard the word "multishipping?" So every shipper has options which good ships to be shipped with this character. They never acknowledged poly ships too so, it's too late to speak up to toxic anti Lunters out there. Stubborn as hell lol. As a Bisexual, people must understand that they cannot ruined their Bisexuality by liking or dating a guy!

The Topic of Chef's Kiss
Part 1: Context
I very rarely interact with fandom at all. I was a shy kid and still nervous, though I've found ways around it. I write, read, and comment on fanfiction works, and that's about the extent of it. Then The Bear came along. It's a small fandom, but it's very active considering season 2 is about to come out. I hyperfixated intensely on season 1, though I had to take a break for school. As a result, I scrolled through the tag with a thoroughness that I had never employed before. I was a bit disappointed to see so much shipping discourse.
Before anyone tries to say otherwise, I'm not against shipping. I promise this post will not stop anyone from having fun.
Anyway, I'm not big on shipping. That's not to say I avoid it entirely. It's just not a priority. I primarily engage with media by trying to understand my favorite characters and playing with found family dynamics. So, it's frustrating seeing so many posts focusing intently on Carmy and Sydney's potential relationship instead of their current dynamic. Many people take all of their interactions and put them through the lens of romance and only romance. This is exhausting to me.
And again, before anyone tries to assume anything—just because I find something frustrating does not mean I think it's objectively bad or morally wrong or what the fuck ever. It's an opinion, not a condemnation.
Another bit of context for this post: I'm a queer trans man. I don't mean to use that as leverage, by the way. Disagreeing with me is just a difference of opinions. I'd never claim it's on the grounds of trans/queerphobia. I'm including it as a piece of context for the following point.
Mainstream media romance has always been bland to me. Much of it is saturated with pairings that feel empty and soulless—straight couples getting together for no reason other than being a man and a woman, and that's apparently enough. Many pairings are virtually meaningless because the relationship doesn't change anything. Their arcs are unaffected. They aren't intertwined in any compelling way, they have no chemistry. The carelessness and heteronormativity are exhausting. That is where I am coming from and why I don't ship them all that much.
Part 2: Chef's Kiss
None of what I said in the previous paragraph applies to Chef's Kiss, though. Sydney and Carmy have great chemistry as the two leads. I, personally, don't see it as romantic. That's subjective, though, and I can see why someone would ship them! They're a cute pairing—in theory.
But considering canon, I don't want to see them together. At least, not where their respective characters are at the end of season one. In my opinion, it would be disrespectful to their characters to throw them together just for the sake of it being canon. There are a lot of reasons why they shouldn't have dated in the first season, beginning with the power imbalance, since Carmy is technically Sydney's boss. of course, by the end of the season (really, by the 3rd or 4th episode), Sydney has cemented her role as one of the very reasons that The Beef survived at all, so that's not really an issue (I think) going forward into the next season!
Another reason is that Sydney and Carmy both have these personal issues at their core that dictates their every move, respectively. Carmy, obviously, has his grief to deal with and his fear that Mikey never truly loved him the way he loved Mikey. Sydney feels so much pressure to prove herself, despite the fact that she already has and is an amazing chef and business partner. She has to process the failure of Sheridan Road...and I'm not entirely sure she's done that by the end of season 1? That's not exactly the point in all of this, though.
My point is that I don't think it works for them to be together currently (subject to change with season 2, of course) and that is why I don't really ship them, especially because I'm honestly more concerned with their current state in canon. That doesn't mean I don't find them cute and enjoy some SPECULATION on their relationship's potential, whether platonic or romantic. They might be great for each other in the future.
I'd also like to point out that shipping is traditionally centered around pairings that aren't canon. There aren't any requirements for a ship, so it's totally valid to ship two characters that aren't currently compatible in canon. Again, I'm just explaining why I personally don't ship it. I'm not at all saying that people shouldn't ship them.
Part 3: Shipping Discourse
Firstly, I want to acknowledge that fan spaces have been notoriously racist and specifically anti-black and continue to be, as well as misogynistic, and that the intersectionality of black women is relevant in all parts of life, including the consumption of media. Discussions of misogynoir are incredibly important. I'll always support fans who call out hateful shit in fandom, particularly because it can be a scary thing, considering the attitude many fans have and the tendency to dogpile an individual. It is not my intention to claim that fan spaces are untouched by real-life issues or that there can't be discussions of real-life issues within fan spaces. With that established, I'll continue.
It seems to me that the two primary reasons why some fans don't ship Chef's Kiss are 1) they would prefer The Bear to not focus on romance, and/or 2) they don't feel that Sydney and Carmy's chemistry is romantic/they value the platonic relationship between the two. My issue with the shipping discourse in this fandom is how much of it stems from people pushing the idea that the show itself has to be setting up their romance, or else. Not only do many posts that condemn Chef's Kiss nonshippers completely ignore the aforementioned arguments, but they also leave absolutely no room for nuance. You either ship it or you're a racist.
I've seen many posts in which a question is posed: "What are your thoughts on Sydney/Carmy?" with the response being "Fans that don't like it are racist lol". I don't believe that is a proportional response. There are also posts in which people in this fandom argue that anyone who is against Chef's Kiss is motivated by misogynoir and that, at the heart of it, fans who don't like the ship or support the lack of romance in The Bear believe that Sydney is not worthy of being with Carmy because she is a black woman. I am by no means saying that this is not possible. That is not the argument I am making.
It is my opinion that shipping discourse is not a platform meant to handle topics such as misogynoir—though that's not to say there are no meaningful arguments to be made there. In fact, there's at least one post in the tag that speaks about Chef's Kiss, and that I think did a good job of articulating the undercurrents of misogynoir found in fan spaces. There are also plenty of essays out there on fan culture and social/political issues within it. The thing is, those essays have the purpose of articulating the grievances of a marginalized community through the lens of their experience with fan culture. Whereas the situation that I'm describing is, instead, minimizing very complex ideas to argue in favor of the validity (and even canonical presence) of a fucking ship.
I guess what I want to say is this: fans with marginalized identities should always be supported in calling out shitty, hateful, and discriminatory behavior in fan spaces. Those discussions should be given the time and attention they need. Though the characters are not real, the people within the fandom are. With all of that said, I think that it is, at the very least, distasteful to use the discussion of racism in order to defend a ship. The way that discourse concerning Chef's Kiss employs, quite rampantly, the issue of misogynoir in order to argue that Chef's Kiss is, should be, or will be canon is inconsiderate and tactless. Furthermore, equivocating a person's stance on a ship to their moral standing is bizarre and scummy.
Now to end this post, which is even longer than I thought it would be, I implore anyone who may or may not feel obliged to respond to do so with civility. also, remember that this is a tumblr post in which I did my best to cover everything necessary and articulate my thoughts, not an academic essay. I am just a guy who hyperfixated on The Bear.

Why Sailor Jupiter is my favourite fictional character and role model
Tumblr media
To understand why Jupiter means so much to me, we need to look at Jupiter as a character. Makoto can best be described as a tale of two halves, on the one hand; a hard edged and tough guardian who’s been thrown out for getting into fights and has looked after herself for years. On the other hand; a caring individual who loves gardening, romance, shopping and dreams of being a blushing bride.
You’d think from that I was describing two different people, a street brawler and a hopeless romantic and yet we are talking about the same person, Makoto.
But, you may be asking, why do you like her so much? Simple, she proves that one is capable of being independent and strong but feminine as well. Let’s not forget Makoto has been expelled for getting into fights but also wants to be happily married and run a flower shop/bakery.
I think as a trans girl, Makoto acts as a great inspiration. From the outset, she could best be described as a tomboy (she is the tallest of the main 5 and easily the best at hand-to-hand combat) but deep down, she’s feminine and wants the traditional fairy tale ending to her life. She proves that you need not worry nor sacrifice your rougher more masculine parts to be loved or have friends as a woman cis or trans.
To me Makoto is the kind of girl who enjoys painting her nails but isn’t afraid to stand up for herself and others when the going gets tough, and that’s my kind of style. I like that she proves that femininity doesn’t make you weak or that masculinity doesn’t make you unattractive and that’s rare for children’s media. In some ways she reminds me of Sonya from Fire Emblem Echoes or Mai Valentine from Yu-Gi-Oh, someone who combines beauty and strength together.
Sailor Jupiter is my favourite fictional character and I think her VIZ voice actress; Amanda Celine Miller summed her up best “You can save the world and vanquish evil and do it while wearing a skirt, cute accessories, and fabulous boots, if you want. You don’t have to sacrifice an ounce of your strength in order to maintain your femininity, and vice versa.” What do you think? Who’s your favourite fictional character and why?

Season 4 Wishes- Ships
I have two ships that I really want to see expanded in season 4 so I'm going to talk about both of them for today's submission.
Up first, the budding potential of Sadie/August.
I've had Sadie for 3 episodes and I already love her far too much. I also couldn't help but notice the potential for a romance they laid down in the last few episodes of season 3 between her and August. I know there's still a lot we don't know about Sadie and there's a good chance her introduction to the cast comes with some darkness. But! That doesn't stop me from wanting a cute teen romance and for August to have something nice.
It's a simple wish. Surely the show will let us have a nice little fluffy teen romance without bad things happening :)
Next, I want to talk about Cordell/Geri
Cordri isn't my favorite ship on the show (or even my favorite for Cordell) but I'm willing to admit it's grown on me a bit (blame @theladywyn for that). They're childhood friends and probably understand each other- warts and all- better than anyone else ever could. I think they really could be happy together, given the chance.
However, I do have one small gripe with the ship that I think season 4 has the chance to fix- that being the apparent reasons for Cordell choosing Geri.
I think early on when Cordell was making moves on Geri, it was clear that at least part of his reasons for doing so was her proximity. She was there when few others were and this likely contributed to how he felt about her. That's not to say he wouldn't have pursued her if she were more distant or if he had other options, but I do think this played a part in it. And I think that comes across clearest in his expectations from her in season 2 in the midst of the mess with the Davidsons. He didn't want her to take time to figure out her place in between the two families- he wanted her to just stick by his side like she always did and her not doing so led to him placing her firmly in the Friend category from that point forward.
Now that they're going to try again in season 4, I think there's a good opportunity for Cordell to prove that, this time, he's not pursuing her just because she's there. I think it would be nice to have something to prove to her- and to us- that he's pursuing her because she's Geri and how much she means to him as her own person, rather than just as a potential Emily replacement. That's the one thing this ship is really missing and I'd love to see it get resolved.

Sleeping with other people is an interesting film inasmuch as it tackles the “will they won’t they” dynamic not through blatant miscommunication (though there’s some of that, yes) but by tracing the stories of two people who can’t get over personal hangups, be it scumbag commitment issues or the relatable “can’t stop being hung up on this mediocre person who I loved in the past.”
Alison Brie plays the perfect weird girl for that job. Though her work in Community certainly proved it, this movie had her playing the semiobsessive romantic lead in a way that certainly gave off red flags without making her hostile. When Aubrey Plaza plays a crazy ex you excuse her actions because “she’s fun and attractive” but Brie’s performance is right where it needs to be, where you clearly understand the harm of her actions but still feel enough for the character to forgive her for the antisocial behaviors exhibited. Plaza’s crazy girl characters run more in the tradition of danger as attractive, which wouldn’t have worked for this film at all. Brie was the perfect casting.
Likewise, Jason Sudekis was also the perfect casting. All in all his character is a total scumbag, where a traumatic youth and commitment issues explain the WHY of his behavior but he still functions as a basically bad person. Normally I’d be tired of this character. No matter how handsome, there’s been enough of these rom com protagonists almost permanently stuck in the “enemies” portion of enemies to lovers that putting up with them to the personal growth part of the film is such a chore. Not so with Sudekis. Even when he isn’t playing Ted Lasso this man is so dang charming that while his tendencies may be negative you can’t help but love him. Great casting on this part.
The film’s ability to entreat you to love these characters despite their very apparent flaws is its superpower. Unlike so many films where the heroine of the tale does *something* and suddenly the male lead has seen the light, the romance in this movie focuses around personal growth and moves the character development subtly if with sophistication. I didn’t expect this! It’s cute!
The second time these two characters meet they’re HORRIBLE for each other and even recognize this fact. Then we find ourselves in the third act as these two people are deeply in love and not sure what to do about it and have no idea how we got there. The movie puts you from point A to point B where the end is predictable but the route the film takes is not. Subtle character development and watching these two slowly grow as people is so much more enjoyable for that fact.
Of course the very best part of the film is Adam Scott’s antagonist character, described early on as “the Pontiac Aztek of people.” Specifically what I love about him was the design choice to give him what is essentially a “mustache twirling villain” costume spruced up for the modern age. He looks like he should wear a monocle and have a maiden tied tie a train track. It’s incredible.

Tumblr media
Star Lovers Ꝏ: How we got here, and where we’re going  Welcome, all; BassDS here after a long time lurking around in the Undernets of tumblr and Twitter, mulling and contemplating several things I want to do that luckily I’ve gotten the ball rolling on, but it’s now time to focus on the one thing that has been neglected during these past few years, and to give those who don’t know a crash course into what led to the creation of this project:
Star Lovers Ꝏ.
Time for a history lesson. AND pretty much an autopsy, because oh boy, I’m gonna tell you how stupid I was in some of these design choices that took place during the original installments.
The one thing I was notoriously known for in the latter part of the 2000s was my set of stories based within the Mega Man Star Force sub-series of the Mega Man franchise, that being my original creation, Star Lovers, which centered around a small budding romance between the main hero of the games, Geo Stelar; the titular Mega Man in this case, and the heroine/side accomplice Sonia Strumm, also known as Harp Note, who essentially served as the Roll.EXE of Star Force.
So, before we progress any further, I do have a SMALL confession to make.
At one point, for a small and VERY short time, I shipped Geo with the other female character in the series, Luna Platz; but hear me out here; this was a time when it took time to get games released over here between Japan and North American, so info on these games and the story was limited, as you had to wait for people to slowly translate info. On a whim, I saw some art of them and thought they looked cute; that was all.
THEN enters Sonia, and soon more of the game’s story is translated and we get to know more about her, coming to find out she’s dealing with the loss of her mother, just as Geo has spent the previous 3 years lamenting the loss of his father in space; they have relatable backstories with each other that helps them to understand the other, and in the end, Geo and Sonia form a Brotherband; with this being their first for each other, and Geo’s first main interaction with anyone since his father’s supposed death. It really showed just how DEEP the character development in this game was.
With this, my eyes were open to the truth; Geo and Sonia were the shipping successors in this sequel series just as the original Mega Man Battle Network games constantly nudged romantic feelings for Lan Hikari and Mayl Sakurai in the previous series, and it seemed they were bent as hell on repeating that again, and I punched my ticket along for the ride.
With this, a few days after I had beaten the first Star Force game, I wanted to write a small continuation; my own thing, to tide myself and many others over until Star Force 2 released the next year.
This led to the creation of the original Star Lovers story.
And looking back now, UGH, it was so cringe.
I DID NOT know how to write a story properly; sentence structure, paragraphs, all that stuff; for all intents and purposes, I was a goddamn noob at it, despite having done some other failed previous ventures with other series of fiction.
Yet, despite it hardly being coherently legible and having the story that just honestly felt all over the place just to enact a confession from both characters...it proved popular. Today it still stands as one of my most viewed stories on Fanfiction.net; nothing else I’ve done even comes close, apart from a story I did featuring them that wasn’t even a part of Star Lovers at all; but people liked it, and looking back at it, to this day I’m still mystified as to how it even got to that point.
A year later, and Star Force 2 comes out, so naturally it was time to create a sequel story to act as a bridge for the impending release of Star Force 3.
And this is when things REALLY started going off the rails.
The story of Star Lovers 2 took the postgame from Star Force 2 and I turned it into my own thing...though in hindsight there were MANY choices I regret so damn much…
Geo and Sonia having alternate counterparts that went by their Japanese names, calling Rogue, Solo’s EM wave form who was introduced in Star Force 2 by his Japanese name Burai, because I thought it sounded cooler...and this was around the time I found Super Sentai, and delving into Kyoryu Sentai Zyuranger, that had a character named Burai, but the most CRINGEIEST thing I could do...was be influenced by another series I still enjoy to this day; Digimon, and implement a character that had an EM Wave Parter who was a reformatted Omnimon...and I… Sometimes I really hate my younger, inexperienced and impressionable self for stupid stuff like this; incorporating something that had absolutely zero business being a part of it…
It’s not the first time I’ve hated my past self for stupid shit either. Sold my entire Pokemon Gen 3 collection because I was scared using an Action Replay corrupted the cart’s code and could be detected by Nintendo and I’d get banned even if I started a new game, and LOOK how much those things go for nowadays...I still need to rebuy them, and it’s going to kill my wallet.
Anyway, let’s get back on track, shall we?
This is where the first seeds for Star Lovers Ꝏ were planted, a story originally titled Star Lovers R; a short lived idea that was meant to be a more...proper rewrite of the original story, but that got quickly abandoned by the release of Star Force 3, and in turn, Star Lovers 3: Crimson Advent.
Now, in hindsight, my writing had gotten a bit better at this point; I can say I was improving, for what it was, Star Lovers 3 was a story that didn’t really deviate from the norms of the Star Force games; the plot was a bit decent, characters were okay. It was fine. Just fine.
At this point, the last sort of presence Star Force had in general was a small crossover in Mega Man Battle Network: Operation Star Force, which involved Geo going back through time to save Sonia by a newly created Net Navi called ClockMan, and winding up right in the middle of the original Battle Network; which is all OSS was: a small Battle Network 1 update.
And it never left Japan.
After the release of the Classic Series entry, Mega Man 10...Mega Man as a whole just went into a LONG hibernation; Star Force in total sold less than Battle Network in general, and as we know now that we didn’t back in 2011, there WAS a Star Force 4 in pre-development, but was ultimately canceled upon the low sales numbers of Star Force and the dismal amount OSS sold.
Not knowing if a Star Force 4 would happen or not, it was time to take things into my own hands and give a definitive end to my story and Star Force in general.
The results were Star Lovers: Black Hole Crisis, and Star Lovers 4.
And ONCE AGAIN, the faults that plagued Star Lovers 2 came back in full force, as by this time, I was HEAVILY immersed with Kingdom Hearts, so much so that for the villains of both stories, I unapologetically based them off Organization XIII; a faction of traitors ala Chain of Memories in Black Hole Crisis, the main villain using the common X in his name except twice, because you know, for good measure; don’t want to make it TOO apparent, and you know what, let’s throw in Geo and Sonia’s time traveling son to help his parents defeat this evil and save his future from being ruined.
Now gee...where have we seen THAT before? What a mystery…
The end of Star Lovers 4 served as an end on two fronts; the first being the end to the original story I had written and expanded upon 3 years prior, and a personal end on my side of things as I was finishing high school, and it was time to start adulting.
But during the last couple months of high school, the idea to redo my original story, and now possibly the others re-emerged in the form of the Star Lovers Final Mix series…
See that? That’s the Kingdom Hearts influence trying to rear itself into my works again.
Needless to say, that idea didn’t last long, as a more, ambitious idea soon came about: I wanted to tell a coherent and exciting story that made sense, that took place in the reality of the series it was based on, while also taking my own creative liberties to flesh out the story.
This led to the creation of Shooting Star Lovers; the precursor to what would eventually evolve into Star Lovers Ꝏ.
Between 2011 and 2013, some decent progress was made on Shooting Star Lovers; but it met an unfortunate end due to a multitude of things. The first was, seeing as I was out of high school; I was working now, so that meant most of my free time was gone, seeing as how I mostly wrote the stories while at certain periods during the school day.
The second was an unfortunate one. In early 2013, my grandmother who I was living with was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer and was given only six months left to live. Needless to say, it was hard to want to do anything productive watching her go through that before finally passing that following November. From there, I just lost interest, wanted to do different things to get over, which led to me attempting many times to become a Youtuber focusing in Let’s Plays, which lasted a while, until I burned myself out and stopped.
But the idea of reinvigorating Star Lovers as a completely new story; one that I wanted to serve as a true end to Star Force since the series was presumably dead by this point; that seed was still in my head, so while Shooting Star Lovers got too close to the sun and like Icarus, lost its wings; it’s failure set the stage for what would soon become Star Lovers Ꝏ.
I wanted to plan every detail out, make sure I followed the canonicity of Star Force; use them to my advantage to craft the story I felt those that were still waiting around for something at all from me deserved.
Part 1: Beginnings was the first act to a planned total of five overarching and interconnected stories in my plans, and was published in July 2020, right when the world was deep in the COVID-19 pandemic.
It would receive two more updates in 2021 before being put on the backburner once again, as I wanted to focus on other aims, mainly attempted to amass the equipment I would need to attempt being a streamer; but Star Lovers Ꝏ was only merely resting, though I had no idea when I would get back to it; but the roadmap of the story was still laid out within my mind. I KNEW what I wanted to do with it, I just got sidetracked by other ventures.
Then, a realization hit in early 2022, when I abruptly lost my mother, and I’ll admit, it did have me depressed for a good long while. It made me mull over the choices I had made in life to that point, and it made one thing vitally clear to me.
I don’t know when my time is coming. It could happen tomorrow, or even 15 years from now; it can happen on a whim just like that.
But I know that if that was every to happen, I would not be able to rest in peace knowing something I worked so hard to formula in my mind, what I considered to be my magnum opus that no one else would know about; I REFUSED the notion of letting Star Lovers Ꝏ be incomplete.
And now, that brings me to today, and I’m glad to say that after a year, Star Lovers Ꝏ IS back in production, with a new chapter just having been recently release, and another on the way.
No one wants to leave the world with unfinished business...and I’ll be damned if I fall into that same category.
So for all those who enjoyed my works before, seen the false starts I had attempted, those who share the same love for this ship between Geo and Sonia as I do, one way or another, it WILL see a conclusive end, and it will be on my terms as my best work of art.
Unless something happens to me, in which case I really am fucked.
But those of you that I have piqued your interest or reinvigorated your excitement for this project; join me, and let’s see this through to the end. To Star Lovers Ꝏ https://www.fanfiction.net/s/13635841/1/Star-Lovers-%EA%9D%8E-Part-1-Beginnings

I have feelings about Buffy and Spike and the end of season 6.
It was not out of character for Spike to attack Buffy in Seeing Red. They were not in the middle of an enemies-to-lovers thing. He is a neutered monster that she hangs around because all of her closest friends have betrayed her (with, in my opinion, varying degrees of good intentions) and her baby sister told her she needs to act grateful about it. She loves them and she’s trying it’s just genuinely painful to look at them, so sometimes she goes to the crypt instead.
Spike had some nice moments! but he also put her in an extreme amount of danger when he was trying to “prove his love.” I watched Crush the other day and I realized that was probably the closest she’s come to dying since she actually died. (Harmony probably saved her life??) Also he says some really gross things to her after they have sex, to try and put them on more even ground. If he’s a disgusting monster then so is she; she “came back wrong” so she doesn’t deserve to spend time with the people she loves. It makes total sense that he would force himself on her to make her remember her feelings.
Because he’s a soulless monster who does not understand that they haven’t been dating. Buffy has not been giving into her “feelings” and just been kind of embarrassed about it or whatever. She has been using him to hurt herself because that’s better than feeling nothing. There is a song about it.
I feel like that moment she looks at him with utter loathing and disgust is the moment he understands how much he is missing. The kind of love he feels is not the kind of love someone like Buffy would appreciate or want. Acting nice some of the time is not the same thing as being a good person. Lack of violence is not proof of regard. Violence is not proof of regard either. So he goes to fight for his soul.
Buffy and Spike have such an interesting dynamic. I truly love both of them separately and together. I have a whole other set of feelings about how Spike generally sees past her masks and would be willing to follow her wherever she goes, which her friends will not do. (This being clearly spelled out is one of the most interesting parts of season 7, to me.) Or how Buffy treats him like just some guy after he’s spent a few centuries in a Whirlwind.
I just wish people would stop ignoring the worst aspects of both characters because they want a cute romance. That is not what’s going on.

◤❀Cнαrαcтer'ѕ Sтυdy: ✿◢
➤ Miss Tatsu, also known as Tatsu Kurosawa, is the only child to two loving parents. Her childhood was quite normal for the most part. So, there's not much to talk about other than living pretty well. She wasn't the most wealthiest person out there, nor did she want to. Everything she had going on until her early twenties were quite fulfilling and something she is quite satisfied with. She knows not everyone has such luxury, which is why she is understanding towards people's harsh lives. Even when her parents passed away, she wasn't angry or any of that sort. A bit annoyed that a customer severely injured her father for not meeting with the demands, which he passed away from. Her mother passed away because of a broken heart.
By the time of their deaths, which was only a month away, Miss Tatsu was already on her own, fulfilling her life as a debt collector. A whole year before the story for Yakuza 0 had started and she met Kiryu. While it did leave a bitterness in her mouth upon the one year anniversary, she didn't show it. In fact, Miss Tatsu never allowed her anger to take control, unless it was with someone she's collecting debts from. Anything that sparked anger outside her job never made it past. In meaning, any anger you see within her job is actually from the people themselves that she's going after and nothing outside of it. Even then, she knows how to control her anger.
Her father was a loan shark and her mother worked at the bank. Hence why Miss Tatsu knows her way around the world of money and the scams of it. Her father had to do a little hunting around with his job, which is how she kicked started her job as a debt collector. She learned the ins and outs of the streets. She knew how to sense certain things as well as know how to negotiate. Eventually, she stepped into the job as an official debt collector.
➤ Miss Tatsu is twenty-two years old by the time Yakuza 0 rolls around. While we don't know her exact age, we for an estimated and I am plopping down that she is twenty-two years old. Anyways, she learned combat from both her parents, given both knew how to fight. Her mother only knew out of self-defense yet barely use these skills. So, it was left to her father to teach her, especially after persistent behavior. According to him, Miss Tatsu needed to be proper like a lady and that her rough behavior would not attract a guy to fall in love with her. She didn't care. She wanted to focus on what she loved the most and not about romance. If she got someone, cool. If not, cool.
Even if people gave her side eyes or underestimated her, Miss Tatsu proves them all wrong, despite her having no desire to do so.
➤ While Miss Tatsu is cute, she doesn't hold herself on high standards. She doesn't look all that beautiful compare to others. She doesn't mind wearing make-up or wearing dresses, but she prefers her normal attire. The jacket she wears and jeans. Her hair is always kept down, even if she is hot.
Outside of her normal attire, she does wear tank tops. Different colors, but mostly black. Still wearing jeans.
➤ If not found doing her job, Miss Tatsu is found at the arcade games or sitting on the roofs. She is not much of the person to walk around or sit at the cafe. She does like to write, but it's not often. Just small pieces, especially things that inspired her from her day. She can also write poetry as well as cook. In fact, she does do gardening. If you walk into her apartment, you'll find plants all over the place.
➤ There's actually an AU I have where Miss Tatsu is a hostess.
➤ She's not hot headed or easy to piss off. It's the fact that she is ready to call bs on people and call them out. She is rough around the edges and is confrontal. So, she may come off as short-tempered when it's the opposite. She knows how to keep herself calm.

I hope this follows the rules! But is it okay if I request a scenario where Giorno has a nightmare of turning into Diavolo and S/O comforts him when he wakes up?
My first request in so long, what an honor!
You're surely a fan of this scenario, I've seen you requesting it quite a lot of times.
Either way, let's get into it!
Esci dalla mia testa
06/04/2004
Midnight had just struck, it had already been three years.
Three years since Giovanna had become the new Don of Passione, and since the former had been punished for his actions.
But in reality, time had lost meaning to the young boy years ago. Everything he did, it felt so...Mechanic, so frivolous, simply keeping track of the days in order not to forget an important reunion.
He buried himself under thousands of piles of work, which only seemed to grow bigger and bigger with every day that passed. This was supposed to be his dream, his greatest goal, and he had reached it at such a young age.
But then...Why did he feel so empty?
He was supposed to be happy, after all the sacrifices that had been made to arrive so far, he had to be grateful for everything that's been given to him.
But he couldn't be, because those sacrifices were not his own, because innocent lives had been taken away, because he had come.
He truly was no different than the man whom he had condemned to suffer for all eternity. But he had to clinch his teeth, and keep on going with his head high, for the few people that were still by his side. Most importantly, for his partner.
As everyone around him had found a significant other, pressured by his best friend, he had decided to reluctantly indulge in this so called 'romance'.
And when you two finally met, he felt like a tiny fickle of faith had risen inside of his heart again.
You listened to him, to his struggles, to his doubts, to each one of his complaints like the were the only worries in the world. He failed to express how much you meant to him, after those...'Accidents', he had become even more close-up about his feelings.
You were very well aware of his workaholic tendencies, as most nights, you were the one to ask him to put down all the documents and get some rest
And this...Was one of those.
As you rapidly fell into a deep sleep, exhausted from your own day, you felt a soft hand gently caressing your forehead. You were so warm and comforting, like a puppy, the only one able to give him hope in this twisted world.
But sadly, your presence could not magically make all his guilt and insecurities go away, and he had accepted that.
After contemplating your dreaming figure for a minute, he slowly closed his eyes, wishing to escape, just for a short while, from all those crushing responsibilities and expectations.
His consciousness started to slip away, he felt ready to conclude another day. Until, he heard whispering. Weak, confused, peculiar sounds, he could not understand a word of what those voices were trying to tell him, they were too far from the boy.
But they wouldn't stop. Delicate, constant and unbearable like the sound of a drip of water falling into a sink. They were playing with the Don's patience, a sleeping lion that should not disturbed, unless you wanted to be torn to pieces.
His mind immediately connected the situation to a possible Stand attack, nothing out of his normality, per se, but he was not concerned for himself. You were still peacefully resting, clinging to your sheets, it was a quite cold night. He wouldn't have let a single soul cause any harm to his darling, she was his only true happiness, his sunshine.
In the moment he stepped outside of the bedroom, what he was faced with sent a frozen shiver down his spine, as he brought his hand to his chest, to control his heartbeat.
There were four doors, floating in absolute darkness. A weak stream of light, that seemed to be originated from nothingness, illuminated each one of them singularly.
The whispering got louder and louder, faint giggles could occasionally be heard. The young one turned around to look at the entrance of this cursed place, the one he had just walked through.
But there was nothing there.
And so, like a captured prey that had nothing left to lose, he ventured himself into the first door, only to be met with a monochromatic version of Fugo. He was breathing heavily, desperately sobbing and all curled up on himself, on the shore of the same place where the rest of the gang had decided to betray Passione.
Giorno was standing on top of the water, unable to move a single inch of his body.
"Look at what you did"
A deep voice murmured in his ear. One he hadn't heard in a long time, one he wished he could have erased from his memories, that infected his mind and was more deadly than the sobbing boy's stand.
Diavolo.
"Me? Fugo chose not to leave, it was his own fault if-"
"If he was abandoned by everyone he loved? Do you have any idea of how selfish it sounds?"
The boy hesitated for a brief moment, staring at those warm tears falling into the canal.
"It was just...A temporary matter, he rejoined Passione, he's doing better now"
"My, it must have surely been fun to prove your loyalty to someone who caused the death of half of the people you cared about, after refusing to participate in his little suicide mission"
The blond's legs started to tremble, mantainig his composure was starting to look impossible.
"They...They didn't die because of me, they sacrificed themselves for a noble cause, for making Italy a better place, they wished it as much as I did"
The man contained his laughter, then he continued.
"Is that so? Why don't say that in their faces then?"
The image of the lonely boy disappeared, together with everything in the room. Giorno was back to that black space, but the door was now missing.
And the next one...Had nothing better reserved for him.
He found himself in the island of Sardegna, the only sound that could be heard were the small waves that met with the coast.
He knew perfectly why he was here. He took a closer look at the seaside, there were some footsteps printed on it. He felt a knot in his stomach at the thought of where they would have brought him.
Abbacchio's lifeless body was laying on top of a rock, surrounded by dead flowers. His entire torso had been torn apart, and yet... His corpse was smiling. A tiny, melancholic smile on his purple lips.
"Do you still have the courage to repeat what you said?"
Diavolo began, in a mocking tone.
"When he became part of the Organization, he was at his lowest, he had nowhere else to go, every path he took brought him nothing but sorrow and disappointment. The only thing that gave him comfort was following Bucciarati...And so, with that excuse, I transformed him in one of minions"
The thought of calling out Gold Experience hit Giorno's mind, but he knew that there was no point of lying to himself. The albino was gone, his soul had left his body long ago.
"I don't need you to tell me just how disgusting you are"
He said, his voice was filled with a suffocated rage, as he knelt over to look closer at his former companion.
"Abbacchio couldn't have cared less about killing me, he came with you because Bucciarati did, because he so desperately wanted to follow him, he felt like scum at the thought of no longer having him in his life"
The boy with emerald eyes felt an hand touching him on his shoulder, but there was no one there, except for himself.
"You exploited his dependence from the man, and used at your advantage, just as I did"
He stopped for a brief moment, enjoying the desperation in the other's eyes.
"But at least, he didn't die under my guidance
And with that, the second room disappeared as well. The boy contemplated whether to remain in that hellish void or to move forward, the image of what was waiting on the other side hurt way too much, his juvenile soul was starting to crush.
But he couldn't remain there, it would have meant giving up to Diavolo's twisted games, seeing him break down was exactly what he was waiting for.
He turned the doorknob, when he felt something humid staining his clothes: there was fresh blood streaming from his lady bug pins. The trail that it formed on the ground invited him to follow its path. He knew he couldn't decline, none of what he wanted seemed to matter in this place.
A metallic railing stood in front of him, his entire pins bled so much to the point of consuming themselves. An horrific scream coming from nowhere and everywhere at the same time echoed through the room, as he directed his gaze to the top of the grey construction.
"What a shame...Oh well, he was the most disposable member of the team anyway"
Narancia's corpse was resting among dozens of spikes, his faded orange bandage slipped from his dark hair, landing right next to Giorno's feet.
"Oh Narancia...So young, so naive, just another victim of this unfair world. That's what you're thinking, isn't that right, Giovanna?"
"This is why people like him should not be involved in this business..."
"Mh? And why is that? Childish minds are the easiest to manipulate"
Ignoring his last statement, the other leaned down to pick up the bandage, but his hand went through it. His body was starting to feel dizzy, like it belonged to somebody else.
"Not answering won't make me go away, the damage has already been done, after all"
"Narancia should have NEVER joined Passione in the first place. He could have gone to school...Have a normal life, but-"
"But he died for your cause before he could. What he said before I activated King Crimson melted my heart a little, how cute...He really trusted you that much to the point of thinking that he would have come out of it alive"
The railing emanated a cracking sound. For a second, he was afraid it would have fallen off, causing him to get impaled as well.
"I took away his chance of living an happy, standard life when he decided to work for me, and you did the same, allowing him to come along with the rest of your team"
The small boy suddenly faded away, together with the rest.
"But at least, he didn't die under my guidance"
At last, there it was: only one room left. Despite how deeply he cared about each one of his former team members, the premonition of what would have come next was more painful than everything he's seen so far altogether.
He sat down, staring at the door from a distance, his eyes emptier than the ones of his old allies. They say that eyes are the window of the soul, and nothing else could have been used to describe his inner turmoil. Nothing but a faded, dull green, testimony of all his battle scars and the survivor guilt that he tried so much to repress.
Perhaps his eternal punishment had arrived: having the chance to confront his inner demons, to move on, to show how fearless he was.
...But never truly grasping the idea of freedom, never facing and accepting what really happened, he was never given the time to. So much had oppressed him all at once, he couldn't keep up with it.
He was a child, a child that had to grow too fast.
But then, someone came out of the door. A bittersweet figment of his imagination, that made his heart stop beating for a second.
The one he hadn't seen in years, the one he had tried to subdue the most, the one that showed him for the first time in his life what love was, stood in front of him. There was no hole in his chest, no sign of blood or wounds, a reassuring smile accompanied his face, as he held out his hand to the grieving kid.
"What are you doing all alone in here? The others are worried for you. Let's not make them wait any longer, shall we?"
Giorno ignored his help, his gaze was stuck on that endless floor. He didn't have the courage to look at the other, his presence alone felt like a sadistic joke.
He didn't look sad, depressed, miserable... He was just...Tired.
He wanted to cry those tears that he had denied in the last three years, he wanted to yell at that illusion to leave him alone, that wasn't the real Bruno, it couldn't be.
But, as he impeded any of this from coming out, something he didn't think he would have felt in a thousand of years struck him.
Bucciarati hugged him.
A tight, comforting hug like one of a mother, that he was waiting for his child to reciprocate. The latter's breathing became heavier and heavier with every moment that passed, as weak laments rapidly turned into audible sobs.
"There's no reason to be sad now, I'm real, you can feel it, can't you?"
"Y-You...You're here...But h-how is it p-possible?"
The brunette chuckled, the sound of his laughter was more comforting than an angel's voice.
"It isn't"
Giovanna's stand penetrated the man's torso, but its arm...It was not Gold Experience's. It had a checkered red and white pattern that extended in its entirety, and it possessed an amount of physical strength which was out of any possible expectations for the creature able to give life.
"Foolish child, I thought you were better than this, I'd lie if I said I wasn't a bit disappointed"
The sound of Bruno's corpse falling to the ground resonated through that empty space, as the last door vanished. A puddle of blood originated from his horrible injury, it was big enough for the boy to see his reflection in.
"You are no better than me under any point of view. We took advantage of his kindness, we used him as a simple pawn for our own gain. The only difference between us, is that I was not manipulating enough to convince him to join my side voluntarily. He was a tool to the both of us, but you were the one who caused his demise"
The mirror that had been created showed two people, but the transparent figure of Diavolo immediately ceased to be visible. The only one left was Giorno, though his reflection seemed to mutate with every second that passed.
His blond curls started to change shape, turning into a fuchsia mess, with dirty green stains on it. His eyes had a killer, maniacal look inside of them, his pupils got smaller in horror. His entire body structure was different. He looked older, more muscular, his clothes, too, were no longer his own.
"Mista loved him, and you killed him"
"Fugo loved him, and you killed him"
"Trish loved him, and you killed him"
"Narancia loved him, and you killed him"
"Abbacchio loved him, and you killed him"
"You loved him, and you killed him"
...
"Giorno? Giorno please, wake up!"
You screamed, your sleep was interrupted by the sound of your boyfriend hyperventilating, as he desperately held you to himself, still trapped in that horrible dream.
You sighed in relief when he abruptly opened his eyes, so swollen and red from all the tears he's shed.
"Another nightmare, uh?"
You asked, gently caressing his back to try and calm him down, he was as vulnerable as a baby that runs to his parents after having a bad dream. Waking up in the middle of the night to comfort him is something you had grown accustomed to, but you had never seen him this shaken up.
He slightly nodded in response, grabbing the top of your pajamas. You put an hand behind his head, making him rest on your chest, and kissed him softly on his forehead.
You could hear him murmuring something, you couldn't tell wherever he was talking to you, or to himself.
"I-I'm sorry...I'm sorry...I'm s-so sorry..."
He repeated like a broken record, you could barely make out what he was trying to say.
"Tesoro, you've done nothing wrong, there's no one you owe your apologizes to"
The boy raised his head slightly, intertwining your fingers with his, he needed to feel sure that this was not another tremendous trick of his mind.
"See? I'm here, you don't have to be afraid. I know that you feel unworthy of my feelings, but there is no one out there that deserves love more than you do. Nobody is perfect, Giorno, you did everything that was in your power to help them"
"But I...I was the one w-who put them in danger in the first place"
"No, you were not. You all shared the same ideals, you saved them from the oppression they were put in"
As you swept those remaining drops away from his face, you could still feel his entire body shaking like a dried leaf in a windy day of autumn.
"N-None of this would have happened if I didn't come along..."
"Exactly, none of them would have known what it meant to be free. I...Understand that the sacrifices that were made are not easy to forget, but blaming yourself like this...Do you really think that's what they would have wanted?"
Not receiving an answer, you laid down once again, still holding him in your arms. You forced a tiny smile, kissing him delicately on his lips, and whispered in his ear that everything would have been okay.
But, in reality...You felt you were trying to reassure yourself as well. This was not something you could have solely resolved through staying by his side, healing from this would have taken a lot of time, but...At least, you could offer some temporary safety, and it seemed to be enough for the time being.
In fact, after some minutes, everything seemed to cease. The boy fell asleep once again, this time with the knowledge that you were there to protect him.
You sighed, praying for your darling to finally find some peace.

travel books and romance novels // Colin Bridgerton
Summary: Colin visits the library for research into his next trip; he didn’t expect to find you.
A/N: Colin’s desire to travel honestly reflects my own. For purposes of the fic, I have aged Colin up - it’s more to fit the plot line of Book Four which is his book anyway. I’m not sure how to feel about this fic, I'm happy with it but I’m not at the same time. I’m not being too harsh on myself however, this is my first time writing for Colin and I haven't got to grips with his character yet. I hope you all like!! <3
Pairing: Colin Bridgerton x Fem!Reader
Warnings: Colin is very cute, pining, mutual pining, strangers to friends to lovers, female reader, she/her pronouns, marriage proposal, happy ending.
Word count: 4k
Tumblr media
Colin Bridgerton had spent over two decades of his life on this planet and had yet to find something or someone he loves more than travelling. The bug first bit him in his early twenties; desperate to experience a Grand Tour – a tradition of which that had strongly died out in the past century. He had read about it so often; dreamed of it nearly every day that eventually he put the idea forward to Anthony and his mother, Violet.
Though Violet was apprehensive at first, she warmed up to the idea once Colin gave her permission to choose some of the countries he would visit. Anthony held no qualms; having travelled to France and Spain before tragedy forced the family title upon his shoulders. Being able to travel would forge Colin into the man he should be; it would give him experience, and plenty of stories to tell his children and then eventually, their children.
Upon arriving back in London after his second trip away, Colin found himself glad to be home. He had sorely missed the sounds and smells that accompany London; the clipping of horses hooves and the constant chit-chat of men and women. It was home; it would always be home.
However, as he stepped off the boat or the train, Colin always wondered the same thing. How long would it be until he craved adventure once more?
------------
A month.
Colin lasted a month in the company of his beloved family before he was desperate to head off on his next adventure. However, he had no clear destination in mind. He had visited Europe, toured the Mediterranean and had hopes of crossing the Atlantic one day soon, but for now - to save his mother’s poor nerves - was content to remain closer to home.
He wasn’t one to visit libraries himself, usually sending a list of books with a servant whenever they visited the place, but this time he fancied the walk to stretch his legs. He had decided that research was the best way forward into finding his next destination, his next adventure. The library could offer such a thing.
It truly was a thing of wonder; so many books and serial publications at home in one place. The library at Bridgerton House was well stocked and Colin knew he could walk in freely and take whatever he would need, but there was something attractive about going out to find exactly what you need. There was also the added bonus of a lack of interrogation from his much-loved mother.
A huff leaves his body as Colin is pitched forward; barely catching himself before knocking into one of the shelves. Turning, Colin readies the words he wants to fling at the person who had yet they die in his throat when he finds you standing behind him with an apologetic look on your face, close to tears.
“Mr. Bridgerton!” You gasp, bowing your head politely and in apology, “I hadn’t meant to walk into you.”
Colin smiles, brushing down his suit jacket, “It’s no worry, Miss (Y/L/N). No harm done.”
“I hope not,” You reply, biting your lip.
His smile grows wider at the note of concern in your voice. “Truly, Miss (Y/L/N), no harm done.”
“Nevertheless, I apologise.”
“What are you reading?” He asks, nodding at the two books in your hand, changing the subject.
“They’re romances,” You admit shyly, “I read to my aunt twice a week. She rather enjoys them.”
“And you? Do you enjoy them?”
“There are some that I enjoy, yes, but I prefer books with adventures if I’m being honest.”
“Adventures?”
You nod, “I like them very much. What do you read?”
Colin frowns; confused at the question. You gesture to the shelves of books surrounding you, “What do you like to read, Mr. Bridgerton? We are in a library after all.”
“Non-fiction,” He replies, nodding his head to the stack dedicated to true life accounts of travellers. “I’m here doing research.”
“Research?”
“For where I want to travel to next,” Colin clarifies; walking towards the stack, all the while knowing you’re following.
“Have you an idea?”
He shakes his head; disappointed at the admission. For his last two trips abroad, he had known exactly where he wanted to go and what he wanted to do and see. Now, however, he was struggling for ideas.
You nod your head; seemingly understanding the predicament Colin has found himself in. Holding close the hardcover editions of the romances your aunt loved so much, you take a step back from the third eldest Bridgerton.
“I hope you find your location soon, Mr. Bridgerton,” You murmur in farewell, turning away from the tall brunette.
“I hope you enjoy your romances,” Colin replies, watching you walk away. Fleetingly, he wonders if he will see you again.
------------
The library remains just as silent as the last time Colin visited. The books he had borrowed heavy in his hands as he returns them to the attendant who nods in thanks. Distantly, he wonder whether he will run into you again. Since meeting you last, he hadn’t stopped thinking about you.
Colin barely knew you or your family; didn’t know much about your lineage or even whether you knew of his, yet he had not stopped thinking about you and the way you held your books so close to your chest, as if protective of them and what they held even if you didn’t own them. He couldn’t explain the urge he had to get to know you. Colin felt certain that if he wasn’t to see you in the next day or so he was to go mad from the unknown.
Luckily for his sanity, he spies a familiar head of hair amongst the shelves, and he cannot help the surge of happiness that runs through him when he recognises you reading the spines of the books. “Miss (Y/L/N)!” Colin calls out in greeting; rushing over to you.
“Mr. Bridgerton,” You smile, “How have you been? Have you decided on your next destination?”
“I have not though I’ll think of something soon.”
“I look forward to finding out. I’m sure Lady Whistledown will report on it.”
“I’m sure she will,” He drawls; his contempt for the author of the gossip sheet well known amongst family and friends. “How did the romances go down with your aunt? Did she enjoy them?”
Nodding your head, you explain, “Very much so. She usually stays awake for a chapter or two before falling asleep, but this time she stayed awake for close to five. I’m here looking for more books by the same author.”
“Would you like some help?”
“Only if you aren’t too busy. I wouldn’t want to pull you away from something more important.”
Colin shakes his head. “I would be happy to help.”
It takes the better part of an hour. Colin proving to be a distraction to your thoughts as you trawl through the shelves in the library. His very presence throws your mind into overdrive; overthinking his intentions for helping you, but also noticing just how handsome he truly is.
“I think we have enough for now,” You eventually comment, finding it hard to keep the sadness out of your voice as you realise that your time with the Bridgerton is up.
“Are three books enough?” Colin asks warily, as if he doesn’t want the time spent together to end either.
Sighing, you nod, “It’s enough to keep her occupied for a while. It takes us a few weeks to get through one book with me visiting her only twice a week.”
Colin nods understandingly, “Then the other romance novels must be for you.”
You raise an eyebrow, “I much prefer adventure novels though I did tell you that the first time we had met. Though I suppose I didn’t make that much of an impression.”
“I can assure you; you did. I just couldn’t help but notice that you must read far quicker than your aunt so surely you must read the other books you have borrowed.”
Caught out, you avert your gaze back to the books in your hand. Colin tries not to smile in triumph but fails miserably. “How often do you come here?” Colin asks, “Do you borrow books for your aunt alone, or do you read to another relative?”
Pursing your lips, you think over your answer. “I only read to my aunt and I suppose I come here at least once a week, usually on a Wednesday.”
Colin nods, “I shall see you next Wednesday then.”
Watching the Bridgerton walk away from you, you cannot help but wonder what exactly you had gotten yourself into.
-------------
The friendship that develops with Colin Bridgerton felt entirely natural; as if at some point in your lives your paths were always meant to cross, and a friendship was to begin. Colin finds you in and amongst the stacks of books the following week; a triumphant grin on his lips and his eyes bright with happiness when he finds you once again in the romance aisle.
He starts to offer you suggestions of books to read, meeting you at the library week after week; all the whole continuing his research into where he wants to travel next. He hasn’t settled on a destination, yet he comes to realise that this is the longest he has remained in London in years. Usually, Colin would return home, manage a month with his family before taking off again. A routine his mother has come to despise despite offering her blessing for every trip.
Weeks continue to pass and whilst his family know that Colin has become infatuated with someone, he isn’t ready to share you with them yet. He isn’t ready for the inspecting glances and interrogations from his mother, brothers, and sisters. For now, Colin was more than content to share you with the romance books you swear you don’t love as much as you truly do.
------------
The café is busy and getting busier from a lunch rush when Colin sits down across from you. His hair remains a mess despite how often he runs his hands through it in an attempt to flatten it; his eyes are bright as he smiles widely at you.
“I thought you were going to be late,” You admonish, but there’s no heat behind it.
Colin takes a sip of his tea, “I could never be late, not for you.”
“You’re a flatterer.”
“And you’re a romance fan, no matter how many times you try to deny it. Tell me, what are you reading right now?”
You purse your lips, deciding whether to relay the information to him, but the longer you wait, the larger his smile gets. “Definitely not those novels,” You comment, “There is romance in my latest book, but I am reading it for the adventure. It has pirates if you must know, very adventurous.”
Colin laughs, reaching for one of the small cakes on the stand.
“I don’t know how I stand your company,” You complain, trying your best to calm your stomach long enough for you to enjoy the food on your plate. The butterflies raging there were making it rather hard.
“You like me, that’s why.”
“I suppose that is more judgement on me than it is you.”
Colin’s only answer is to wink before returning his attention to the food on his plate. For a while, it is silent between the two of you. happy smiles are exchanged between you both and quiet laughter when you both reach for the same cake; Colin, ever so gracious, lets you have the cake. Instead, he tops up his tea and then yours from the teapot.
“I would like to visit Russia next; I think – St. Petersburg,” Colin declares, breaking the silence once and for all.
“Truly? You would travel so far?” You ask, eyes wandering to the globe on the table in the corner of the room, a display item. Centred on England, Russia could not be seen for the distance between them.
“I’d travel to all four corners of the earth if I could,” Colin admits, voice honest.
You sit back in your chair, eyes wide with wonder at the prospect of travelling even outside the county without a chaperone. “I’d love to travel.”
“It is a marvel,” Colin smiles, thinking back to his trips through Europe and the Mediterranean.
“The only chance I’ll get to travel is on my honeymoon which will be a marvel in itself,” You reply, picking at an invisible thread on your skirts.
“Why?”
You sigh, “Mother doesn’t hold much hope for my marrying. She believes that I have been out for too many seasons and have nothing left to offer that could possibly entice a man into courting me, never mind proposing.”
Colin finds himself gripping the arm of his chair in an attempt to keep his anger at bay. Such words leaving your mouth should be a crime. You have plenty to offer. However, at the sight of your slumped shoulders and sad eyes, Colin realises that you believe the words of your mother; that you truly have nothing left to offer.
On a whim, Colin asks, “Are you attending the Duchess of Hasting’s ball tonight?”
Shaking your head, you explain, “Mother isn’t one for huge events no matter the title of its holder.”
Colin surges forward, grasping your gloved hand, “Come, please. My sister won’t mind. I’ll have her add you to the guest list and send a carriage for you.”
You remain silent as you think over his proposition, ready to turn him down and return to your life of safety but the determination in his eyes and the joy in his smile leaves you nodding your head instead.
“Alright,” You agree, “I shall wait for you carriage.”
------------
The London home of the Duke and Duchess of Hastings could only be described as grand. Candles line the way to courtyard in which the ball would be held; they provide a romantic atmosphere, providing many a dark corner where young couples could sneak away from their chaperones.
Upon your announcement, you find yourself walking through the large crowd of people, unwittingly searching for the familiar head of brown hair. He finds you first, however, smiling widely as he notices you in the crowd.
Colin excuses himself from his conversation; making his way over to you as fast as he can without bringing too much attention to himself.
“You came,” Colin breathes as if in disbelief that you stand before him. His eyes run over you; taking it all in as his heart races. He hasn’t felt like this before; he hasn’t ever known anyone to make him feel like this. Colin feels as if he wants to show you everything, introduce you to everyone, but also keep you for himself should anyone want to steal you away.
“I said I would,” You smile, heated from his attention.
“You look beautiful,” Colin states truthfully.
“Thank you,” You answer, “You look very handsome too.”
“Would you care to dance?” Colin asks, a hand outstretched and waiting.
Smiling, you nod your acceptance. You take his offered hand, letting him leads you to the dancefloor where many other couples are readying themselves for the opening notes of the dance. Out of the corner of your eye, you spy Anthony’s eldest brother getting ready to dance with his wife, Kate. He offers Colin a smile and a nod to which Colin’s shoulders relax somewhat. You raise an eyebrow at the brunette only for Colin to shake his head; nothing you need to worry about.
Colin’s hands find themselves in the correct position son your body as you reach for his free hand, resting your hand on his shoulder. The music soon starts up and Colin begins to lead you round the dancefloor in a flurry of spins that leaves you giggling. His face lights up at the sound of your laughter, soon finding himself joining in.
“Stay for one more dance?” He asks as the music dies and you pull away, desperate not to let go of you just yet, happy enough right now to feel your hand in his and your body pressed so close.
“I’d love to,” You answer honestly, letting yourself be pulled back to the dancefloor where Colins hands soon start to feel like home on your body.
By the end of the second dance, you begin to feel dizzy from the spinning. Smiling gratefully at Colin, you apologise for having to bow out. He dismisses your apology with a wave of his hand, “Shall we get a drink? I’m sure I saw some lemonade not too long ago.”
“Lemonade sounds perfect. I seem to have worked up quite a thirst.”
“Then by all means,” Colin declares, bowing dramatically at the waist, “We must get the lady a drink.”
Laughing softly, you follow Colin to the drinks table where he hands you a small glass of the cold drink. He goes to take a drink from his own glass but is distracted by his mother calling his name. Colin apologises before leaving you in the company of his sisters, Eloise and Hyacinth.
“Good evening, mother,” Colin greets, dropping his head to kiss her on her cheek.
“Two dances in a row?” She asks as greeting, curious to know just who has distracted her son in this manner.
Colin ducks his head; not ashamed to have been caught out in his feelings, but ashamed that he hasn’t introduced you to his family as of yet. Across the room, despite the music, he hears your laughter. His attention rests on you as he watches you laugh at something said by either Eloise or Hyacinth. Your smile is wide as you try to cover it with your hand; trying to be polite but neither sister care that much as they continue to make you laugh.
You’re beautiful, he realises. He’s known it all along, of course, but with that smile on your face, Colin cannot help but desire to be the one who brings such a smile to life. He wants to be the cause of your smiles and your laughter; the reasons why your eyes crinkle in the corner. He wants it all; he wants it with you.
“I think you know why you haven’t set off on another adventure,” Violet states pointedly; eyes dancing between her son and where you stand, talking to Eloise and Hyacinth. A mother always knows.
Colin’s eyes don’t need to follow his mother’s; they had been on you since you excused yourself from him. He’s finally ready to confront what he had known along. “I think I know too. Do you approve?” He asks; realising he sounds like a child desperate for his mother’s attention.
Violet Bridgerton smiles, brushing Colin’s cheek softly with a gloved hand. “I think you suit each other perfectly.”
The smile that breaks over Colin’s face could only be described as blinding as he takes his mother’s hand from his face, kissing the back of it before leaning in to kiss her cheek. Against her cheek, he whispers, “Thank you, mother.”
Violet nods, eyes lined with tears as she watches her third eldest son walk away from her. She would be the first to admit how well suited you both are; the need for adventure alive in the both of you. She shakes her head fondly as she watches her son make his way over to you; holding out his hand, asking you to dance to which you graciously accept.
Violet begins to walk the outskirts of the ballroom; feeling nothing but pride and happiness for each one of her children and elated in the knowledge that there was soon to be another marriage in the Bridgerton household.
-----------
The morning after the ball is a pleasant one. The weather wonderfully warm as the sun shines through the windows; heating the drawing room pleasantly. Turning your face, you take in the rays, careful not to risk too much exposure.
Your latest read remains open on your lap as you continue to bask in the warmth of the sun. So far, the book has captured your attention and has failed to let it go. The heroine of the novel too relatable personality wise for you to take a break long enough. At this point in the novel, she had offered an ultimatum to her suitor – he can join her on her next escapade, or he can find another woman to marry. You could only hope he would join her in her next adventure; their comradery was too perfect to end so suddenly.
However, after the events of last night, you found it hard to focus on the book long enough to turn the page. Instead, you found yourself reading the same line over and over again, desperately trying to lose yourself in the witty prose of the author.
But your mind focused on last night: the music, the dancing, the company. It had been a dream; it felt like a dream – only your mind could cook something up so perfect, yet deep down you knew you had experienced every second. You were certain you were still dizzy from the spins you had taken when dancing with Colin.
Biting your lip, you think back to the three dances you had shared with the third eldest Bridgerton. Three dances – could it be true? Shaking your head, you answer your own question. It was true; you remember every moment with crystal clarity. Three dances with Colin had to mean something; it had to mean he felt something for you. Your heart begins to race as you think of the possibilities
“Miss,” Your Butler states, interrupting your daydreaming, “A Mr. Colin Bridgerton is here to call on you.”
“Show him in,” You answer, standing from your window seat, brushing down the skirts of you dress. Biting your lip, you could only hope that you looked presentable.
“(Y/N),” Colin greets as he enters the room, a large smile on his face. A bouquet of red roses and lady’s breath in his hand that he offers to you.
“They’re beautiful, Colin. Thank you,” You whisper, eyes darting around the room for a vase. They would be put in there after Colin had left.
“I’m glad you think so.”
“What did I do to deserve flowers though?” You ask, a teasing note in your voice.
Colin smiles, “I know where I want to travel to next. I came to tell you.”
A pang of disappointment rushes through your body soon followed by upset. Placing the flowers on the nearest table, you do what you can to avoid his gaze as you ask, “When do you leave?”
“That’s the thing,” He starts, shifting nervously, “I have something to ask of you before.”
“What?”
“Travel with me. Come with me,” He all but pleads, reaching for your hand, “As my wife.”
Your eyes widen as Colin’s grip on your hand tightens. “What?” You question, breath coming in a hurry. “What are you asking me, Colin?”
“I’m asking you to marry me so we can travel together. I’ve seen the world once; I want to see it again with you.”
“I have to admit this isn’t what I expected today,” You ramble, trying your best to not look into his eyes. The moment you do, you’re done for.
“(Y/N)…” Colin interrupts, cutting off your nervous rambling. “I need to know an answer, love.”
It’s only then that you let yourself look into his blue eyes; reading the emotions written over his face. He was promising you adventure; the likes of which you had only read in books. Colin was promising you a future full of love and laughter; a dream you had hoped for since you were a young child.
Suddenly, as you look into his blue, blue eyes, it’s all clear.
“Yes,” You whisper, somewhat breathless but entirely ready to begin your future with the man in front of you, “Let’s see the world together.”

So out of nowhere I was tagged and quoted by a SR shipper for a blog of mine posted in August of last year. Talk about throwback but, hey, gotta appreciate that level of snooping. 😉
Back in the day I actually used to encourage discourse amongst Inuyasha fans- both shippers and antis alike- but I've since realized that it's a lost cause. But for you, @feministmetalgreymon , I'll grant this exception. Just 'cause it's been a while so why the hell not. haha
I want to assure you, however, that nothing you say will ever convince me that Sesshomaru and Rin are meant to be together romantically or that the story intended it so. Nor will you find any validation here. You can ship them for all I care, but please for all that is good and holy while I have your attention try- I mean really try- to understand why it is so many of us Inuyasha fans are so against this pairing in the first place (newsflash: it's not about ship wars), and why we believe a romance between the two of them is completely and utterly out of character.
For those of you interested in reading this, the blog of mine in question that the above shipper mentions in their counter-argument is here for reference. It's titled "Jaken = Rin's Dad?" I'm going to try and keep this short, but I'm also making no such promises. After all, I'm not exactly known for my brevity. haha Now let's get crackin'!
Like you, feministmetalgreymon, did for your recent blog here where you took screenshots of mine to address certain parts, I will be doing the same and dissecting yours accordingly.

I worked with kids for many years as a teacher, and many people in my family have too or still do. Two of them happen to be just over 5 feet which is quite short for the average adult woman living here. I've also worked alongside many a women of short stature, and never did I hear any of them complaining of issues with their students having difficulty differentiating them from their own peers just because they were short as well. I'm sorry but that's just ridiculous. Kids are quite smart and pick up on a lot more than you seem to give them credit for. Height is not the only characteristic they look at to determine who's an adult and who's not, and it's foolish to suggest otherwise. So unless you're a babysitter who's still in their teens and/or who has very childlike features or behavior then I'm afraid what you're getting at is total hogwash. This is just another example of how you shippers offer nothing of real substance to your reasoning, it's only ever cherry-picking or strawmanning from you guys. Stop deflecting from the real issues please, because this certainly isn't one and only winds up being a complete waste of time for all parties involved.

Okay, calm down now. I wasn't insinuating that relationships between parents and children can't change over time in terms of how they get along. Of course that's possible, as all families experience their fair share of estrangement and abuse. What I was speaking about was in reference to the overall dynamic between the two. Because a bad mother or father can still be viewed as a parental figure to their child even if say they're not in said child's life anymore. Since Sesshomaru and Rin share a healthy bond- and just a friendly reminder that in my blog I even said that he doesn't have to necessarily be labeled her father but that a romantic relationship later would still be inappropriate- I didn't deem it necessary to address what you brought up. Plus, it kinda, umm, misses the point?? Please, let's stay on topic. And it's not captured in the screenshot, but stop acting like there isn't a small part of them that idolizes their parents at some point during childhood. Just like you mention later on how it's normal for kids to have innocent crushes on adults that they eventually grow out of? Well, guess what, the same concept applies here. Kids eventually learn that their parents are far from perfect and make mistakes too. Rin is so damn young in the OG series though that we never even get to see her reach that maturity level.

LOL! Alright, okay, so the "unbreakable bond" bit you're mentioning was actually me quoting you sessrinners. Did you not catch that? I literally spelled it out. *sigh* The whole point I was making is that shippers like yourself make hypocritical and contradictory statements all.the.goddamn.time. One moment you guys claim that Sesshomaru and Rin were essentially strangers and meant very little to each other, only to say in the same breath a few seconds later that they were destined to be together and their bond is like no other. I agree, their bond is special, but why must that mean they're going to fall in love?
That is the root of the matter here. Too many animes/mangas have romanticized this older adult man & young girl growing up falling in love trope that it's become way too normalized and widely accepted across the world- and yes, in some cultures more than others. Sadly, you lack the awareness to recognize how this all works. You know how we know that? When we see that you shippers are so desensitized to sexualized images of girls in the media that you share posts like this one below which *subtly* imply a future romance although one half of that pairing is still just a child in the pic and then try and pass it off as cute. That's like super fucking problematic and it scares me that you can't see that (or deny you do). 🤢
Tumblr media
After all that's said and done, Sesshomaru leaving Rin in the village with Kaede is to me the strongest indicator more than pretty much anything else he's done for Rin that proves he is her adoptive father. It's so funny to me how you somehow see the exact opposite though. 🤔 What I think is happening is that you got yourself on some squeaky clean ass shipper goggles fresh out of your little echo chamber. Because I hate to tell you, but what you're fantasizing is what you want to see and not what's actually there on screen or was written into the story. I'm strictly talking about Inuyasha and the manga of course. [For the TL; DR version skip to the last paragraph.]
Parents looking after their kids is what parents are supposed to do. A good parent will do anything to keep their child safe and ensure they are cared for, so what he did for her by leaving her there was in her best interests clearly. Besides, as a babysitter, you more than most people should understand that parents aren't always able to be there for their kids so sometimes others gotta step in to help. Haven't you heard of the saying, "it takes a village to raise a child?" Which in Rin's case is literally true! 😂 Sometimes kids are even sent off to stay with grandparents and that's who raises them instead. Or maybe they have to temporarily live with an aunt or uncle because their single parent's job requires they work out of town 4-5 days of the week so they're hardly home. But that doesn't mean that the parents care or love their kids any less, and it's foolish to assume that Sesshomaru must have thought very little of Rin simply due to the fact that he made the decision to leave her in the village. Come on, y'all are acting like he abandoned her there!!
It's just given the circumstances Sesshomaru finally came to learn that Rin traveling with him was no longer safe. I also like to think it's because he wished for her to live a more normal life and to learn how to fully trust humans again. Plus, continuing to travel with him as young as she was would have proven dangerous and unwise. Now for you to know all this and still manage to turn his past actions towards her while she was just a child into a romantic gesture is what boggles my mind. Regardless of how you look at it, from my perspective or your own, Sesshomaru is in the wrong. Either he's a father figure who impregnates his daughter at the young age of approximately 14. OR he's this man she used to travel with who maybe isn't a father to her but who nonetheless basically rapes her since kids her age can't consent to sex with an adult. Idk about you but it sounds to me like nobody here wins with either scenario we're given. In other words, you should be just as mad as we are. If only one side didn't choose to forsake their morals they know we both have in common for the sake of a ship. Welp. 🤷‍♀️
Tumblr media
I agree, incest is disgusting but that's not the only problem we have with this pairing. A romantic bond forming between Sesshomaru and Rin would also constitute as grooming.
You realize that over the years he visited her in the village that he brought her gifts too and essentially watched her grow up right before his very eyes, right? I mean, I know you do, but I really shouldn't have to explain further why pursuing a romantic/sexual relationship with each other is plain and simple wrong. And before you say it's not because he didn't have any malintent, please understand that considering their history and power dynamic up to then that yes this is still considered grooming even if Rin supposedly "wanted it" or "made the first move." Whether you consider him her father or not, as the adult who took on a role resembling that of a caretaker in her early life- a critical developmental time for a child- Sesshomaru is obligated to turn down any advances by Rin and most definitely should not initiate any himself. As the first close adult figure she's had in her life since her parents died, it's unfathomable to imagine how Sesshomaru could go through with taking advantage of this young girl who was under his care and supervision since they met. To think he could be capable of betraying that trust sickens me to the core.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This. Now THIS is how a parent/guardian or a similar adult caretaker (babysitter, teacher, etc.) talks to a child. And, in turn, this is how some young children talk to adults. You'd be insane and delusional to deny it! We see it in our everyday lives, do we not? From where else do you think our stories draw most of their inspiration? Yes, obviously these fictional universes have aspects of fantasy that don't exist in the real world, but so how then do you suppose we're able to relate to them? The reason for that being is because these stories are written by people for people, so naturally there are going to be real life aspects embedded throughout. Sure, a little escapism doesn't hurt as we don't need to take everything so seriously, but ultimately we all need to recognize that the messages in the stories we tell matter. Most stories possess a combination of both light and dark themes, but when it specifically comes to the latter we gotta be careful with how we tackle this in children's media since kids are far more impressionable.
So if at the center of a story we have two of the main protagonists whose mom is basically their same age and to top it off she knew their dad when she was just a girl and who just so happened to help raise her, wouldn't you say that's beyond fucked up or at the very least so fucking weird? Like why would we think it's even remotely okay for our children to watch this garbage?? Really think about it. Try and be objective for once and think about how it would sound explaining this storyline to an outsider who's never watched IY or HNY. Well, antis have tried this before many times and we always get the same reaction: Ewww!
Like I said earlier, if you wanna ship it then fine, but 1) please stop seeking our approval or trying to change our minds - your ship wish came true didn't it, so why do you need us to validate it? 2) even though it's not canon, respect that we don't support this sequel portraying pedophilia in a positive light. It's harmful af to not only allow but glorify the continuation of sexualized images of young girls everywhere. And I shouldn't have to say this, but just because this trope is popular as you say does not make it right. Lolicon themes in the media have been an issue forever and it needs to stop. Yes, even some people in Japan or "the East" would agree. Shocker!
We're pissed off and rightfully so because Yashahime's TV rating is 14, not to mention it airs at the prime time kids in Japan watch TV after getting home from school. That's Towa and Setsuna's age, true, but if Rin being the mom when she's like only a year older than them (please don't argue w/ me about the math- antis have so far been right every time with it) is straight-up disgusting and not something we should be supporting or endorsing. Rin's a whole ass child!! Please don't start with the "but times were different then so her having kids at 15 is acceptable" argument either, because we've already debunked that and every other single excuse you guys throw at us. Besides, how or why would you expect young viewers to know these historical "facts" anyway, especially if as you suggest fiction doesn't affect reality so what does it matter? Yet here we are, arguing over a fictional show in real life almost a year and a half into the "Sesshomaru fucks?" sequel being announced. My ass, your ass, hell all our asses fiction doesn't affect reality!
Look, I do apologize if the tone of this blog came off as snippy or condescending at times. I do not wish you any ill will, it's just I'm not really sure what you expected to get out of all this besides maybe getting on my nerves perhaps. haha A lot of you shippers have been desperately scrambling to interact with us, lurking in our tags, jumping onto our posts screaming canon and getting so defensive even though you sought us out first. We've been sticking to our tags, so how about you stay in your lane too. By the way since we're on the topic, have you seen Twitter or Reddit?! SR shippers there are the actual worst and many Inuyasha fans (not just antis) have complained of not feeling welcomed to engage in fandom spaces anymore. Shippers swarm them and scare them off simply because fans don't like your ship and refuse to accept it. It's pathetic, really. No one should ever be bullied or harassed just because they don't like something you might. We're all fans of Inuyasha, aren't we? So let's act like it. Yashahime on the other hand, you guys are welcome to that pungent heap of trash. Fans have a right to criticize it too, but if you like it then good for you, so keep on liking it and don't mind us.
Tumblr media
I'm almost done, but real quick back to Jaken! Let's not forget about how the official Yashahime website- which came out after my blog, mind you- described Jaken. This translation isn't the best one available but it's the only version a fellow anti friend could track down. They do recall a better one done by a native Japanese speaker who was also an anti, and that member confirmed that Jaken is indeed called Rin's babysitter. So you see, I was right in my interpretation. In the original post I did compare Jaken to a brother, but after talking to others (some comments can be found under said post) I did acknowledge that he's more of a reluctant babysitter who's not related. And if he's not at least a brother to Rin, then he's definitely not her father.
At the end of the day, the creator Rumiko Takahashi has the final word. Which is guess what? Hogosha. 💖 Probably should've just started out with that and saved us all the trouble, huh? Good day/night to you.
Papamaru bids you adieu now. 🤞
